A new age has dawned and we must lead our people into glory as the ruler of our great nation. Choose out culture, military aims, and economic principles as we fight for power on the global stage.

The first vote, what type of Leader do we have

>Dictator
All power stems from the King, Gernalismo, or Pope. There is no input from external sources as so decisions are made easily, but expect backlash and revolutionaries.

>Oligarchy
A politburo, council, or collection of business leaders collectively rule the nation. Relatiely stable but expect political wheeling-dealing and backstabbing between the factions to be paramount

>Democracy
You fall to the will of the people. By votes, representatives, and/or community councils the people are the source of all power. Expect high stability but also a nation constantly mucked by dealing with competing interest groups and the exploitation of national divides.

We have chosen the path of the people, and our leadership speakers with the voice of the populace.

Now let us choose our time period.

>Prehistoric
Civilization is newly risen, our tribe is just now laying the seeds of what will become our culture.

>Cradle of Civilization
Ideas such an organized labor, complex government and urbanized settlements have just begun and we begin the dawn of ages.

>Classical State
Iron, writing, roads, knot codes and dreams of empire. In this age we are an established society and culture with rich history

>Colonial Power
In this age of conquest new worlds have opened up for exploration and development and we aim to exploit it, or avoid exploitation itself

>Industrial Age
Steam, coal, electricity, magic. Byt whatever means massive machines and projects have created a developed world driven by research and society, wars have advanced to unhard of levels

Robots, golems, dimensila travel, soul's in computers, landing rocketships in heaven... a new frontier of existence beyond our wildest dreams is open to us.

We are masters of the seas, from island to island we spread our way of life across many points of power

It is a time of great celebration. Thanks to the efforts of the Great Peacemaker, the Loa have blessed the many tribes of our Island with a new era of peace.

The chiefs of the seven tribes are now assembled at the Annual Harvest to elect the first Grand Axeholder, tasked with managing the shared resources and tasks for the tribe.

Three candidates have offered themselves for judgment.

>Taika the Speaker
Taika proposes to assemble all the great shamans, preists and druids of the islands to compile their wisdom into a sacred text. He says this will become the guiding document of our culture and smooth out any inconsistencies of the old era.

>Agana the Hunter
Agana wishes to seek new island for fisheries and grass to feed doomswine. Under her rule, dreamlogs would be felled en masse to produce a mighty fleet and the scattered islands used by the bravest fishers would be used as stepping stones to other islands.

>Ekashi the Lawgiver
Ekashi has formulated a new system in which the seven tribes would divide, labor, livestock and fishing. Under their rule the Island would focus on building a stratified sosicty based on coedifyign doffernt classes of people.

Agana the First

The celebration of the festival are short lived as now the hard task of governing falls to Agana.

Her first task is to build the mighty fleet, but the Illa Tribe will not offer anymore of the sacred Dreamlogs beyond what they have alady offered in the pact. Taika has already influences his tribe to balk your plan out of spite. What do you do.

>Make do with a smaller fleet

>Offer the Illa tribe to purchase the dreamlogs with the tribute given by the other tribes.

As part of the Great PEace, each tribe is required to give a portion of their yields as tribute for the good of the Island.

Knowing how close the Illa tribe is to the Dreamgroves you offer to pay them with this tribute.

The assembled chiefs of the Illa tribe argue with rage. Some find the idea of selling the dreamlogs to be sacriliegous, other's greedy for the profits of other tribes they previously ent to war for, are eager to take the deal.

Each chief of the tribes retreats home to their villages to consult with their people in order to determine their vote.

While they leave Agan must deal with the ramifactins of her offer.

The Taya tribe are notabe in there rage. They gave up a thousand head of doomswine in tribute in order to ensure peace. Knowing this offer will only go to the hated Illa, who had killed many for those very same doomswine is giving them much anger.

>Offer the Taya tribe a greater portion of bounty from the outer islands

>Tell them the tribute has been made and they have no say in how it will be used.

Officially.

Unofficially take note that we haven't forgotten how Illa tribe fucked us when it came to our main reason for getting elected. This will not go unforgotten. They will get last shares of whatever we discover with the new fleets. Unlike the others who played it straight. This gain is only temporary and their selfishness will cost them in the long run. If needed they will have higher priority for any finds.

Before the tribes of the Taya, Agana sat down her Axe and humbled them before The Great Peace.

"All knelt for peace and all paid the tribute, the doomswine and all else are to be delt to the Island as I see fit."

The chiefs of the Taya sneer at you

"The Taya shall not forget this day *Axeholder*

As they walk off, you now prepare for the task of building your fleet. You will need labor for the effort.

(Wow that was was a gimme I guess))

Agana rose her mighty ax and before the assembled tribes, declared next year's tribute could've offered in goods or labor.

There is some uproar, there are those who claim this is no better than the slavery of the Red Ages.

The Ponni Tribe however is fond of this choice. They of the Centre Grasses have many mouths and not much food. They resisted the Great Peace the most due to lacking the livestock needed to supply tribute. With their labor force working abroad, it will relieve them of two pressures at once.

The Tribes disperse and the Festival ends. The Hall of Peace, erected for the first talks that ended the war, remains intact to serve as the station of the Axeholder.

Agana sits for many weeks with the finest craftsmen, charting the paths and designing the boats for this mighty fleet.

As Third Month began, a greeting went out and a delegation of Cheifs of the Illa tribe appeared, sans Taika.

They tell you they had voted to agree to the deal but some holdout chiefs and villages, including Taika, protested and are now occupying the Dreamwood.

I'm sure Taika is the ringleader of this fiasco. If he want to implement his cultural ambitions, I say we let him. If he's just being petty, then we duel him into submission and lay this matter to rest.
>>
>>4961522
You gather several Peacemakers and a small band of Axeguard and set out to the Dreamwood with several pack sheep.
Several nights later you come to the Central Alcove, the Holiest place on the Island. There Taika and several Illa druids chant around the grove, their backs turned to you. Taika does not turn around and instead speaks with his back turned.

"The Dreamwood holds this island together. Her many roots bind the sacred sand. His mighty branches feed the birds that nourish us. Their pure bark grants us shelter from the wild."

He turns to you

"You would take this saved grove and use it to leave our Homeland for wealth? You are no Chief. He spits at you.

>The Illa are bound to the Great Peace. The majority of the tribes voted for my vision and the Illa agreed to my plan to pay you. Stop this, you have no way out.

I ain't looking for a fight, even if you are. Either the Dreamwood is used to preserve the Great Peace, or it'll be burned in the flames of war, with everything the tides achieved under the Great Peace lost. Do not sacrifice our culture for a dream, Taika.
>>
Agana wields her axe to sky and in the name of The Great Peace slams it to the ground and gives her ultimatum.
Taika stares with tears in his eyes and silently walks away. The other druids follow him.

Agana sighs in relief and makes the Trek back to the Hall of Peace. She arrives in the midday mist of Fourth Month awaiting the representatives of the Tribes to detail their tribute.

>Illa Tribe
As part of their payment for the sacred Dreamlogs they have been exempted from this year's tribute.

>Taya Tribe
They offer Doomswine with the cheif making it known not a single Taya hand will go to your logging and implying the swine would be of the lowest quality.

>Ponni Tribe
As expected they offer the tribute exclusively in labor. They thank you for your generosity in accepting this and pledge to be an honorable workforce

>Ahi Tribe
Agana's home tribe is the richest on the Island and is home to many pearls, glassgems and stockades of preserved pachok. They pay exclusively in goods and offer no labor. "Ahi do not till."

>Chontou Tribe
Arch rivals to the southern Ahi and the second richest tribe. "Just like a drunken sea-man to shun work. You won't be able to buy your way out of everything with your trinkets. Our fields are full so you may have our excess farmhands. The Chontou pay with a mix of laborers and fine arkwine.

The Ahi chief starts to arguing with the Chontou chief leaving the two remaining tribes, the Nupuri of the Mountains and the Muli tribe of the river interrupted from making your tribute.

The Nupuri are a very poor tribe but have managed to stay out the wars due to their isolation.

The Muli river cuts through the island so every tribe has spilled Muli blood at one point. Many Muli chiefts signed the Great Peace only to avoid further bloodshed.
>>
>>4961816
With your tension with the Illa, Chontou and Taya only the Ahi and Ponni tribes firmly support you. It may be wise to try to curry favor with these tribes. At the same time the Ahi-Chontou tension may prove risky to Peace, or exploitable for power.

Agana addressed both chiefs with the same clause

"I am the Axeholder, not a God. These decisions must be made with all proper groups."

Agana walks to the Chontou Chief and stops the bickering between them and their Ahi counterpart.

"What do you want you scallop-breathed drunkard?!" They yell at you.

"The Npuri wish to have access to a portion of farmland at your borders."

"Ha! Drunk even here, you fish people surprise even me! Why would we give up our prized orchads?

"It's agreed then" Agana says

"We divide the spoils of the Expeditions with the Ahi having the lowest portion."

"It's a deal Axeholder" the Chontou Chief states. The Westfarmlands will belong to the Nupuri.

Agana then holds all the Chiefs silent to discuss issues.

"Chiefs of the Seven, we have been chosen by our people to lead us out of the weakness of war to to the power of peace. In honor of that, the Chontou have agreed to transfer land for farming to the Nupuri."

With that said we must heal the wounds of the past the Muli have long suffered at the hands of other tribes they have asked me for reparations to be paid to them from our tribute.

All the other representatives laugh in your face!

"You would have the sacred tribute be doled out to these mud-men?!" Says the Chief of the Ahi.

"Though I hate to agree with this wino, the Muli are underdeveloped, they wouldn't know what to do with the tribute."

Technically , the tribute is to be doled out by the Axeholder, so you don't need to ask permission, though you will probably alienate many tribes and thus damage your chances for reelection.

We would use them to live in peace and health without fear of a spear or axe coming down on our heads. That is how we would *use* them."

"Then it is given, a portion of the Tribute of Peace shall be paid to the Muli."

The Muli Chief looks on you with respect while everyone else in the room grumbles in anger.

The Nupuri and Muli both pay their entire tribute in labor.

With the grand labor force assembled, the march into the Ilsa Dreamwood begins. The Dreamlogs are felled en masse and forged into a great many canoes.

The labor goes long how ever, and as The Crisp Dawn of Seventh Month begins, there is discontent as Election season begins.

Tenth Month is when the next Great Peace Festival begins and when the title of Axeholder will be bestowed to Agana again it another tribe member.

Knowing how central they were for your operations you begin the pilgrimage back to the Ilsa lands . Both to check on the progress of the logging and to curry favor with a powerful tribe.

As eight month began you enter the Dreamlogs. The forest has shrunken to a third of it's size and laborers are found all around.

You come to meet with a gathering of Ilsa Chiefs, Taika is not among them. While there the Chiefs tell you that the labor force have brought outside culture to their sacred lands and that they are disruptive and unwelcome in their lands.

Why not try and teach them in your ways, so we all may have a better understanding of each other in the future. We can at least try to respect your traditions while we work in your villages.

If anyone has a bettter idea, I'm all ears.
>>
When proposing this to the Ilsa Chiefs many are split.

Some believe teaching outsiders the sacred ways of proper dreamlogging to be a violation of The Way.

Others are open to the idea if they are paid for the labor of teaching.

A third group is dedicated to the logging project and worries extra training will delay the progress

As much as I think this to be a political mistake, the Great Peace is supposed to be a time to repair relations and gain a better understanding with one another. I think this may be a political sacrifice necessary to achieve a better understanding between the tribes. If we're lucky, we may be able to keep our promises and our Axe in leadership.

The workers are furious that they are to be assigned for more weeks of labor. Both to be trained and to fell the logs in accordance to sacred rites. This dissatisfaction threatens to undermine your standings with the Ponni , Nupuri , Muli and Chontou

The riot has been quelled for now and the rotational season has smoothed over relations with the poorer tribes who were donating labor.

However there is no way the fleet will be finished before your election. You will have to be very diligent in your campaign. You have time to visit one more tribe, maybe two if you are quick. Which do you campaign in?

"They need to be better Aggy, your mother's have been dealing with much tension with the Chiefs of the villages."

>>4974407

>tell this MF OFF

Sure we're big island woman now, but did he expect us to immediately become a tyrant and destroy all good faith with the other tribes to line daddy's pocket book a little more?

We voted a democracy, but we are the head leader for distribution on resources and managing the tribe, lets turn this democracy on its head and become corrupt like all REAL democracies.

i get this may be controversial so other opinions should be considered but:

>Father what do you think of the situation we are in? If we lose the trust of the tribes the whole "peace" falls apart. Our tribe depends on others for food because "Ahi do not till". We may be rich but we have no backbone and depend on others and our tribe would surely be decimated by the Chontou who actually do farm.
>>
>>4974407
>I'll listen

We may not be able to do everything to his satisfaction, but we will certainly do our best to address his biggest concerns and issues.
>>
>>4974440

Thats more fair actually, I would like to change my vote to listen first, and possibly argue with him after
>>
>>4974438
Welcome to democracy. I hate being a doormat as much as you, but unless you have an idea on how to consolidate our power, we're left being a politician first, leader second.

Also, insulting our father (and the older chief who's actually being freindly and trying to help) by saying the Chontou are better is a recipe for disaster, and will lose us our easiest demographic, our home tribe.

Also, I'd rather not play a corrupt democrat, I get enough of that shit in RL politics and I don't want to sour this quest that way.

>>4974444
Lovely quads mate! We can argue about strategy with him after, just try not to insult the man, alright?
>>
>>4974451
I agree for now...

On the topic of power consolidation, we have a few options.

Although I don't like genocide or cultural eradication in any form, in the future we could either keep disenfranchising tribes who don't agree with us and give their power to people who favor us
-like the laborers who learned about the trees can become the new guardians and we remove the old guard, but that would be extremely difficult
-we already gave reparations to Mui, but we could pull a WWI and make Chontou pay for all the damages, and when they get upset, destroy them and divide their resources
-Marry a Chontou man(tough but you see my point)
-Start shipping off people who don't agree with us to forcibly colonize other islands

We're stuck with a weak alliance and strong differing opinions that will dislike and plot against our moves. We either have to become a dictator and suffer a coup so people are less angsty or start to remove the minority opinion so the majority can thrive
>>
>>4974492
Honestly, I would settle for a strong coalition and just raising everybody's standard of living up. I don't want to start killing tribes off and establishing a dictatorship after anons voted for democracy.

"Agana sits down, she knows she is being pragmatic but part of her wonders if she is still that sacred little girl in a boat at heart."

"What is the issue?"

"Your mothers have been speaking with the villages, there is discontent that the Fleet has not been completed yet."

Agana winces as she remembers the secret deal she made with the Chontou to have the Ahi paid the least from the colonies.

"Our enemies our jealous that our family has the highest title on the Island. Many rival families would rather see a Chontou Axeholder to campaign against than see us with the Axe."

You notice he said "Us" instead of "You" but hold your tounge.

"What do these Chiefs want? The Fleet won't be finished until after the election."

"You need to prove to them it is worth it to see you in charge, give them something to work with."

Agana thinks

> I could try to give them more land from another tribe.
> I could promise a greater portion of the Sea Treasures.
>I could install the Ahi in a special role for the Island.
>Write in

>I could install the Ahi in a special role for the Island.

Something that the Ahi would be proud of but wouldn't lose us the support of the other tribes. A prestige or honorary roll? I don't rightly know.

I'm gonna be away from tech for a few days, so try not to lose the election on us. Best of luck to y'all.

>>
>>4974956
we could make more ahi bureaucrats? They don't farm, so we could use them as ceremonial officers and expand that later to high (land)military leadership, or even enforcers/cogs

Let's just avoid putting them in actual positions of power over others for now until we have more to offer other tribes
>>
"I could install the Ahi in a special role for the Island. I've gotten much acclaim from the Ponni for employing them to build the fleet."

"What role would you have, you know our people are to clean for labor or farming."

"I thought about putting them in charge of the Fleet but that is too long term for the election. Many aren't even sure that there WILL be a fleet. But what if we put us in charge of the Armies?"

"What would we need armies for, we have the Great Pea-" the Chief is hushed by Agana's father.

"I see what you mean daughter, a use for our manhunters who are now out of work."

"When I increased the labor time the Ponni almost rioted, a force like that to preserve the peace would be the perfect amount of power and prestige to sell the tribes on."

"Your mothers and I will sell this to the tribe, at the Festival planning meeting you will announce it."

"So many of us tire of war, I do not know if this is the right choice."

"Silence you old fool, your tounge would be hanging from your neck if my manhunters hadn't saved you in the wars. We saved your flesh first and now we will save your coin purse."

The Chief slinks back in the chair, almost 80 and still scolded like a child.

Another thing, you will take Lono with you, he will serve well at the Hall of Peace.

Agana seethes internally. Lono is her half-sister's half-brother, and per Ahi tradition, their parents intended them to marry to keep the families wealth contained. Agana finds him incredibly annoying an loathes having to work with him.

"Very well father, let us go."

Lono now amongst your guards and advisers you have a choice. You can campaign to the Taya and risk having to cut your meetings short in order to get back to the Hall of Peace, or you can return to the Hall to plan the Festival and propose the Ahi Army plan to the assembled Chiefs.

>Go to the Taya Tribe
>Go to the Hall of Peace.
>>
>>4975511
>Taya

I'm assuming thats what most people want
>>4974080
>>4974161
The Taya are still pissed over their tribute being used for ships, we should learn what they desire and try to make amends

We barely know anything about them except for doompigs so they must hunt or herd? Either way, I'm sure we could use them somehow,
-if hunters: lowrank infantry
-if herders: idk increased autonomy? Pastoral land isn't really big money land and we can earn more through monopolizing the trade flow rather than directly taxing the people/land

OP can we get a general population in terms of proportion? Do we know which tribes are bigger or smaller than Ahi for example?
>>
>>4975536
The tech doesn't exist for firm population counts but rough estimates are

> LARGE POPULATION
Ponni
Taya

>Medium Population
Ilsa
Muli

>small population
Ahi
Chontou
Nupuri
>>
>>4975511
>Go to the Taya Tribe

Tell them that they can have a large chunk of the treasures of the seas, just to appease them quickly. I want to finish this quickly so we can plan for the festival and try to get ahead of this Ahi Army plan we're now doing. Maybe we can offer to employ the other tribes manhunters as well, make this a volunteer army? That way it won't look like we're trying to play favorites, and when the other tribes refuse to play ball, we can say that the Ahi so generously volunteered their manhunters for keeping the Peace, both foreign and domestic. We can call them the Peacemakers.

Agana Lono and their enterouge journey to the Taya Highlands. They are greeted by an irritated delegation

"What are you doing here?" Asked Chief Shion, "The Festival planning delegation left last week."

"We came here to address your concerns."

"Our concerns are that the person meant to keep the peace is faffing about the island instead of doing her job."

"Hey hey let's calm down here" Lono butted in.

"Let's just sit down and talk things out."

He approaches Chief Shion and a forest of spears are pointed at him. The enterouge draw their weapons in turn.

"Everyone stop!" Agana yells . "Take me to Kutha Mardika so we can talk this out."

Are are taken through the Great Hill up to Kutha Mardika, the first and largest city on the Island. It's huts are stacked tightly but logically, with Doomswine wardens and pigeon coops between the gaps. In the center, made from ages Dreamlogs is the Taya Aula. The Empty Hall made a symbol of unity amongst the Taya people.

You all stand outside it, as it is forbidden to enter. Under the sacred Palms you begin you discussion.

"I will be the only Chief attending, due to your own failings."

Agana held her tounge and responded peace fully.

"I am aware you resent my use of the tribute, I have come to see your needs?"

"Needs? My mother died at the hands of Ilsa spears, my Grandfather in the deathfires of Ponni raiders, my great grandfather hung by your own Ahi. And now you conspire to take our offering of peace and give it to the savages we bled with?"

"This is a new era Chief Shion, the treasure s of the Ocean..."

"Stop, you promise these treasures yet where are they? You have Mud-men chopping down trees being paid with our Doomswine and yet I see no jewels of the Sea. Your little fleet lays in the dirt and we are no richer for it."

"If I win the election I assure you..."

"And now you come begging for our vote. It will take more than empty promises to buy it."

>What do you offer to the Taya (write in)
>>
>>4976421
>>4975873
exactly this, were gonna go out

I would suggest making Taya naval forces possibly, large pop, they can take spoils of war but don't get trading rights and can't make the ships.

If fact it'll tie them to the ships that are produced by the Ilsa, who respectively need the Taya for doomswine as well. Co-dependent relationships create better stability
>>
"We have entered a Great Peace" said Agana. "There is no place on this Island for your killers of people." "But on the seas, we may encounter any threat. I would name the Chontou the Chief warriors of the Great Fleet, tasked with defense of our people abroad."

Chief Shion laughs.

"So once again your promise something that may not even happen. Where is your great Fleet, where are these other lands? What can be put in our hands and mouths right here and right now. Because all I see from your great Fleet is an excuse to give Doomswine to a band of treefuckers."

Again takes a step back and thinks.

>Double down on the Navy offer
> Offer something else (write in)
>End the negotiations.
>>
>>4976542
While offering up the Navy was a decent deal, I'm not sure putting our future navy in the hands of tribes that resent us and aren't loyal to our position would work out long term.

>Offer to purchase their Doomwine for the Festival in bulk at a higher price, along with other trade goods

If they're concerned about the here and now, offer them some economic incentives. It seems to me they're irritated that we're giving their tributes away without them getting any benefit in return, and I imagine that this area may be poverty stricken, due to their high population density. This may help stimulate their economy.
>>
>>4976556
The vote and below in this post >>4976633 was meant to be a reply to >>4976556 btw.
>>
>>4976556
Agana: "The Hall of Peace is willing to invest in Taya livestock. I can purchase your finest Doomswine with portions of the tribute."

Chief Shion smiles a grin and reaches out a hand.

Shion: "Every year you hold the Axe, you will purchase a hundred head of Doomswine, do this and I ensure our vote for you."

Agana reaches her hand out and holds it with the Chief.

Lono looks on in shock.

Lono:"We're bribing the Taya?"

Shion:"You should tell your pet to cease it's bleating."

Agana:"Lono, shut up."

Lono:"You're the Axeholder you shouldn't have to take this from this old man in this stinking heap of buildings."

Agana:"The deal is done, let's go."

Shion: I pray for your success Axeholder.

While on the way back to the Hall of Peace Agana goes to talk to Lono.

>Scold him sternly
>Reprimand him respectfully
>>
>>4976685
If Lono's respectful, treat him with respect. If he doesn't, scold him sternly. We're the Axeholder, not him. With any luck, we can try and improve everybody's lot in the future.
>>
>>4976704
This choice is based on your reaction to how he acted with Chief Shion.
>>
>>4976745
I have no opinion on that then, so long as he understands the seriousness of his faux pas.

If pressed at gunpoint, I'd probably try and be civil with him, so respect gets my vote.
>>
>>4976685
Alrighty, I'll vote then. If there's a tie then annul this vote.

>Reprimand him respectfully
>>
>>4976887
agree, show him the error of his ways, that we lead by example
>>
Agana: Lono, you can't act like that around Chiefs.
Lono: But you're the Axeholder, you shouldn't have to take that!
Agana: The Axeholder serves the Island, not the other way around. It's my job, and now yours, to make sure they get what they need. And the Chontou needed payment.
Lono: They didn't need it, they just extorted you for their vote.
Agana: And that vote will help me help the entire Island.
Lono: And help you hold onto that Axe.
Agana: Those are the same thing.
Lono: You're just like Kolea Juba, always looking to grab power.
Agana: Sometimes power is needed to provide, hopefully this job will teach you that.

The enterouge makes it to the Hall of Peace for the festival planning. Something is wrong. Several Chiefs are missing. Most of the Taya and Ilsa, and half of the Chontou and Ahi.

Agana: What happened.
Chief Aadiv of the Ponni: When you didn't arrive their was unrest among the Chiefs. Chief Zees of the Taya claimed you were unfit for the Axe and that you would give away all they had to ...
Chief Resak of the Nupuri: Mud-people. He said you would give away what they had to Mud-people.

Agana turns and sees Chief Boran of the Chantou, who she made a secret deal with. She rushes him and speaks in private.

Agana: We had a deal, what's going on?!
Boran: I am but one Chief. Without you here Zees arguments landed true. Many of the wealthy resent you having us give up land and Zees is foreign enough to blame for problems with out being as unappealing as an Ahi.

Lono walks over.

Lono: Zees is running against you in the election what do we do?

>Continue as planned: Plan the festival and announce the Ahi manhunter plan.

I'm back y'all, and I see that we've yet again seemed to have fucked up. I'm so fucking annoyed right now, it's not even funny.

Who are the assembled chiefs we have to speak to? We should explain why they should support us at least, maybe tear away a few of the Taya and Ahi that seem to support Zees. I'm honestly so annoyed right now that I can't think of what else to say.
>>
>>4977561
Thinking more clearly now, we did bribe the Taya, so we'll see how many flip to us when Shion gives word to them of our deal. With the manhunter plan, we'll probably get most, if not all, the Ahi on board. I only hope we don't piss where we drink on this one.
>>
>>4977587
The Chiefs currently still at the festival are

A minority of the Taya
A minority of the Ilsa

Half the Ahi
Half of the Chontou

All of the Nupuri
All of the Ponni
All of the Muli
>>
>>4977646
So, we can swing it with the Ahi? Thank god. With any luck, our Taya dealings will turn this election into a landslide than we'd previously thought.

So, each tribe gets a vote yea?

>>4977561
>Write in how you would like that speech to go (you don't need to write the whole thing.)

As it relates to the manhunters, call them Peacemakers, and try and not cause too much of a stir with this if this becomes a hot issue with our supporters.
>>
>>4977682
Agana turns to address the assembled chiefs.

Agana: Years ago, we lived in blood. Killing for an honor that never came. But then, the Great Peace saved us. Now we struggle to win the peace. There are those who would hold what they have close to heart and doom the Island. But I have a new way, we shall share our power, our land, our lumber our livestock and together we will grow strong.

To this aim, The Ahi Manhunters, once icons of violence have volunteered to serve as Peacekeepers to protect and serve The Great Peace from all threats.

I hope the former Manhunters of all the tribes will join under one Staff to serve the Island.

Agana's speach seems to hold sway with members of the Ahi , Taya and Chontou the other tribes have shown hesitation, though Agana could sense the support of the poorer tribes she supported.

Agana: And now, lets get to work.

The festival plan went smoothly, the few Taya Chiefs in attendance were please with the deal to buy their Doomswine and the Ahi began their organization to serve as security for the event.

As the Festival planning waned down and the End month began the chiefs returned to their home tribes with word of the the eventful weeks at the Hall of Peace.

Agana and Lono remained preparing for the festival, and the election.

With the Festival a fortnight away a chasqui messenger came to the Hall, bearing barely healing wounds.

Chasqui: Axeholder, it is horrid, they have killed them all. They attacked the loggers, slaughtered workers as druids alike, they hide in the woods and strike at night!

Lono looks aghast, this is the first time the Great Peace has been directly broken.

Choose one or more

>Send a chasqui to the Ahi and have them deploy the Peacemakers

>Go to the Ilsa Dreamwoods with your personal enterouge

>Implore any number of tribes to send aid

>Write-in
>>
>>4977782
>Send a chasqui to the Ahi and have them deploy the Peacemakers
>Go to the Ilsa Dreamwoods with your personal enterouge

This is going to require a personal touch, as we cannot be seen as allowing the Great Peace to be broken unpunished, or the dead unmourned and unburied. Lono, continue the preparations.
>>
Agana:Lono, finish the preparations for the festival I need to handle this.

Lono: Let the Peacekeepers do this job we can't risk you.

Agana: My job is to ensure the peace, I need to be there.

Agana sends a chasqui to deploy the Peacemakers then sets out with her personal guard.

As the week goes on the violet woods of the Ilsa Dreamlogs come into view. The logging areas show signs of fire and warfare.

You come to the central Grove, to meet with any Ilsa Chiefs who remain but instead find one of your mothers, standing amongst several drunken Peacemakers singing songs of victory.

Agana: Mama Koa, what has happened.

Koa: Peace works my child, these savages have been vanquished!

A Peace keeper throws a preserved head at your feet and gives a cheer. The head has the tattoos of a Chontou farmhand.

Drunken Peacekeeper: Those Taya tapeworms paid the farmers who didn't picked to log to attack . But we showed them how a Manhunter HUNTS.

The Peacekeepers cheer with Mama Koa.

Agana: Are their any survivors?

Koa: These weren't not trained warriors. They attacked the druids with surprise, and the Ilsa were always better at talking that fighting. When they faced a real force they were cut down one and all.

Drunken Soldier: Why do you puout so Axeholder. Now we march to the festival victorious! We shall drink to your election!

Agana: I think you have enough of that so far.

Koa: Mea aloha, dear calm down this is a happy day.

>Agree with your mom and settle down
>Continue to push the matter
>>
>>4977862
>Agree with your mom and settle down
>Well, I'm glad (not our chasqui's name) had such swift feet.

I have a hunch, and I hope I'm wrong here. Time for the oldest trick in the book. They should know the name of the chasqui in question, right?
>>
Agana: Well it's good news Tanē got here so fast.

Koa:Yes he did a very good job.

Agana takes a mental note. Tanē wasn't the chasqui's name. They weren't even male.

Agana: Well then it's time to get these Peacekeepers to bed and into hangovers.

As the morning rises Agana marches the fatigued Peacekeepers and the corpses of the raiders to the Hall of Peace.

The band arrives just as the Festival begins. Agana must decide how to enter.

>As a Triumph, parading the defeated and heralding your successful Peacekeepers.

>Stoic and solemn. Make sure the Peacekeepers do not act boisterous and do not that parade the defeated around like trophies.
>>
I made this spreadsheet so we can try to organize the tribes a bit better, feel free to comment any good changes and I'll accept them :) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iscO6ZDFrJuMiIYnOp-FtR6PJ5g19Zon9EcPPty8BAw/edit?usp=sharing

but we might wanna plan a bit this is a huge mess, did the llsa just get genocided? Then we don't have to worry about their traditions anymore. Can we find Taika the Speaker to compile this to history or is he dead?

In addition jesus christ didn't we just convince the Taya not to revolt but they did anyway? Should we decide punishment for the tribe?
Put it to a vote to execute leaders?

What we wanna do will determine how we approach the Triumph. Civil War and people dying is not a joke and I think that our seriousness will convince people that the Taya need to be stopped or eventually their tribes will be killed.

We offered them a fair deal and they spit in our faces, but I don't wanna make a decision without outside opinion
>>
>>4977953
>Stoic and solemn. Make sure the Peacekeepers do not act boisterous and do not that parade the defeated around like trophies.

The breaking of the Great Peace is nothing to be joyous about.

>>4978005
Looks fine to me lad.

As far as genocide goes, I don't know. Could just be a village, could be multiple. Some clarification on this point would be nice.

If this was the Taya (and it might be), then we'll need the consensus of the remaining non-involved tribes in the matter of bring the perpetrators to justice, including the traitor Zees. My hunch? It may be the Ahi pulling a false flag attack, either for revenge, greed and glory, political maneuvering, or some combination of the above.

Either way, this will become a deeper wound to the Great Peace if we allow this to fester.
>>
>>4978005
No one was genocided but the Farmers killed several loggers and Ilsa druids. Delayed the logging for a bit.
>>
>>4978040
Thank you for clarifying. When the chasqui said the attackers killed them all, there was nothing clarifying it was just a camp rather than a village. I'm content to let sleeping dogs lie for now, but after this election we'll have to make sure there isn't a repeat offense.

>>4978005
So, would you like to play up our Triumph or stay solemn and stoic?
>>
>>4978032
>>4978051
100% agree
>Stoic and solemn. Make sure the Peacekeepers do not act boisterous and do not that parade the defeated around like trophies

This isn't a parade of victory, its a angry march to avenge wrongdoing. Taya have the largest city and lots of resources, I'm not against the people of the tribe but it's leaders because of planned genocide. Can we find witnesses of the event and declare a vote to decide guilty or not guilty?

The people had no part and should not be punished, but the leaders decided to attack and ruin the Great Peace. A vote by the greater public should determine whether the chiefs committed a war crime or should go unpunished.

Can we get an epic trial OP loll, who doesn't love a case like Marbury vs Madison lmao

Also hats off to you dude, I've done a few things like this back in 2017 but dang, you got all kinds of things thought out. Super fun and I feel like I'm in high school playing this out lolll
>>
>>4978055
It doesn't seem to be a genocide, it's either a terrorist attack to show displeasure, or a false flag to win us the election.

There won't be a trial either, as the suspected perpetrators are dead, and there are no witnesses to collaborate with our Peacemaker's testimony.
>>
The Procession was a grim and calm one. The Peacekeepers we're ordered to lower their arms and the bodies of the dead were wrapped and covered.

Agana entered the festival, the shocked looks of the assembled Chiefs staring on. Zees and Taika among them.

Agana: People of the Island! The Great Peace has been broken. Our sacred groves were attacked by a a band of raiders. Life was lost but the attacks we stopped.

Koa: Those responsible will pay!

Mixed cheers are heard in response to the interruption from a respected Diplomat. Agana grimaces.

Agana: The attack was carried out by Chontou farmhands-

Chief Boran of the Chontou: Ahi lies!
The Chontou delegation gives a loud uproar.

Koa: Does skin lie?!

Koa holds up the preserved head of one of the fallen raiders shocking the crowd.

Koa: The marks of the Chontou farm class were branded on all the raiders.

Koa turns dramatically

Koa: And their satchels were filled with Chontou salt pork!

The Ilsa delegation glares with anger at the Chontou.

Taika: Shit breathing Savages!

Agana: Stop! Being the Axeholder is more than just winning at war, we must win at peace as well.

Ilsa, Ponni, Nupuri, Muli and yes Chontou too. We all have lost here. When one hand is cut the blood flows from the entire body. We are all connected and we must form this peace together.

Taika: Pulukeke to your peace, I want the heads of these pig farming bastards!
>>
Chief Zees of the Taya: These killers holding Taya pork doesn't prove they were sent by The Tribe. If anything this is proof of the dangers of this woman's plans to give hand outs to half the island.

Agana: You speak out of turn, Zees.

Zees: Think, what would drive farmers to take up arms? They saw the wealth of their tribe given over to those too lazy to build for themselves so they struck out against the drunken dreams of Jubu's puppet.

Lono picks up a club and leans toward Zees, but Koa stops him.

Zees: Taika, your people have suffered but your people are strong. These attackers are dead and your people will survive this tragedy. But they will not survive another year of Agana destroying your culture and promising fantasies in return! Your only mistake was letting those leeches into your groves.

>Discourse. Debate against the points of Zees' arguments.

The farmers were mad that their farms were taken, so instead of coming to the Axeholder directly with their grievances, they decide to take up arms, not to fight the Axeholder or to take back the land, but to slaughter the innocent? People they have no quarrel with? Is the Great Peace so meaningless to you Zees that you make excuses for killers and bandits? Of sanctioning bloodshed just to get back at me? Will insulting the Ilsa's loss by excusing their murders and blaming those who put a stop to their bloodletting?

You sicken me, Zees, for siding with murderers in a time of peace.
>>
>>4978132
Zees:I don't side with murderers, I side with the people who are tired of their sweat and toil feeding the mouths of cultureless savages. The Great Peace was meant to stop bloodshed, but your use of it to put Tribes under your thumb has only caused more violence.

Lono: Agana has given up more for this Island than you will ever know!

Zees: Really then, let us see what she has "given up."

Zees moves among the Taya Chiefs and Chief Shion comes to the forefront

Zees: When our brave Axeholder was meant to be planning the festival, instead she was in the Taya lands trying to buy our vote.

Gasps run through the audience

Shion: It's true. She swore to buy Doomswine for each festival for as long as she was Axeholder.

How does Agana respond

>Deny. Call Shion a liar and say this deal never happened

>Spin. Say what happened but worded in a way that favored you

> Full truth. Detail exactly what happened with full accuracy.
>>
>>4978468
>Spin. Say what happened but worded in a way that favored you

What, buying wine for our festival is so great a crime? Would you prefer that I demanded more of it as tribute? I must commend you on your word twisting, you are quite a grand storyteller. I find it amusing that you think that more doomwine wasn't apart of celebrating the festival properly in the first place, and telling of how little you think of your own doomwine and my intentions in buying enough to make this a festival to remember for all of the tribes!
>>
>>4978523
We also payed the other tribes for their services as well, when labor wasn't given as tribute.

I've also noticed the Taya's change of tone. When we gave the Illa the doomwine in exchange for their Dreamlogs, the Taya were quite livid over it. Now when the Illa are attacked, you say it was I who caused the bloodshed, not by my hands but with my actions, and deflect responsibility of Taya's pork in these killers stomachs?

(I'll not it is doomSwine not doomwine, as in pigs but it works anyway)

Zees: You see people, the Ahi will always wheel and deal. Trading and bartering with OUR dreamlogsOUR doomswine OUR farmland, to purchase the loyalty of tribes like satchel of fish. Given how much you passed our meat around, who KNOWS where these raiders got it from.

Zees turns to the chiefs.

Zees: Elect me as Axeholder and your tribute will serve its purpose, Garuntees of peace, not tokens to be bartered. Not a scrap of land, log, or livestock will be forced from one Tribe to the other , and we will not be held responsible for the failings of our neighbors.

What are Agana's closing arguments?

>doomSwine

Well, that fucks with my perception with a lot of the things. I thought it was wine we were buying. I sort of feel cheated, but I guess I'll deal with it.

>Closing arguments

The fleet that I've promised is nearing completion, and I've built it without demanding more tribute or manpower though force. I've also tried my best at keeping the Great Peace alive, and my Peacemakers prevented more blood from being shed from Loa's body.

Zees makes grand claims of guarantee peace, but they objected Illa taking their doomswine, and now Illa druids are dead, Chontou killers fed by Taya pork. Whether the Illa decide to reward such treachery by giving Zees the Axe of the Great Peace, I leave up to them. Now, a prayer to the fallen, for when Loa bleeds, we all lose.
>>
>>4978558
>>4978585
>Doomswine
The pigs are the price you pay for peace. Tributes are meant as offerings of peace but if we do not distribute it to your "enemies" what is the point of this peace?
>Trade
If you are so against our "wheeling and dealing" or bartering, then why is it that the Taya also trade? You exchange doomswine for all manner of goods you cannot produce. And in return for your tribute you get peace. We have not gone back on any deal, we asked for no extra tribute without proper recompression. Zees only wishes to see the improvement of the Taya at the expense of others. Have you all not made sacrifices of tribute through pearl and work?
When offering tribute, the Taya had the nerve to demand a higher share of the ocean's bounty for the same tribute. When preparing the festival, Zees demanded an exorbitant sum for our peaceday. Why do the Taya feel entitled to sit back when the rest of us have made numerous compensations?

>Closing arguments
Furthermore, the Ahi never accused the Taya directly. Taika of the Ilsa only said "pig farming bastards," which is quite apt considering the "Chontou saltpork". If Chontou farmhands with Chontou meat were the confirmed raiders, why defend the Taya from not a single accusation?

It was because Zees planned the massacre of the Ilsa:

Taika are you not enraged of the senseless violence?
Pali and Aadiv are you not grateful to the Great Peace for being accommodating of the Ponni people and their needs?
Muli did you not receive aid from the rest of the tribes?
Resak of the Nupuri, you received the land you needed without bloodshed.
Through my efforts this land has improved without death. Through Zees all of the sufferings your tribes have experienced will happen again. If it happened to the Ilsa it can happen to you.
>>
>>4978585
With the arguments made the delegations of the tribes met in secret to debate on who they would back. Once returned the votes were as follows.

>Ahi
Agana

>Chontou
Zees

>Ilsa
Zees

>Taya
Zees

>Muli
Agana

>Nupuri
Agana

>Ponni
Agana

4 to 3, Agana wins re-election, but by slim margins.

When the Axe is rededicated to Agana, hr supporters cheer her and her detractors ract coldy.

Zees: I pray to the Loa I am wrong about you. Though I doubt it.

As the celebration goes on Agana still feels off. The attack on the grove was a major blow against peace and how it occurred is still a suspicious mystery. Almost half the tribes resent her administration and there is a strong hotbed of inter Tribal tension building. On top of that, the Fleet needs to be completed and the actual journey managed. This may be a party, but Agana must be all business.

>If we find evidence of Taya involvement can we count on IIsa support?

I'm assuming they're still pissed about the trees being used and being attacked, we should listen to their grievances.

Do you guys think that making a section of the forest sacred and off-limits to non-Ilsa would work(maybe the area where everybody died)? We could even offer Ahi peacekeepers as a defense force/watch for quicker response and as a bonus investigate the massacre.

This isn't a great situation, the only tribes who actually can help us are the disenfranchised tribes. The Ahi can't win this alone.
>>
>>4978843
I'd rather not ask them those questions, as they have their own reasons for voting against us, and if they wish to tell us what those reasons are, then they will on their own accord, not before.

I personally don't think make parts of the forest sacred would work to quell their unrest, I could be wrong on that account as well.

At the festival , Agana walks toward Taika and offers a drink in friendship.

Taika: Congratulations on your victory Great Axeholder.

Agana: There is no need to act like that. I work for the whole Island, the Ilsa included.

Taika: And yet my people chose the tribe who murdered their kin over you, what does that say?

Agana: That I have a lot of work to earn your trust.

Taika: That is what is wrong with you Ahi, you think everything is something to be owned and traded. You thought you could buy off our Dreamlogs as if any amount of treasure could be worth the Bones of the Loa and now you have the Island dancing your praises because you promise riches from beyond the world. And now all we have to show for it are dead Druids and boats for you to play sailor in.

Agana: We will investigate the attack, I promise you justice.

Taika: Save it Axeholder, you may have been able to buy off the other Chiefs but I still hold to the old ways. The Loa will bring justice. To all of you.

Taika walks off, refusing Agana's drink.

Which Tribe to talk to next?
(Sidebar: If anyone has any questions to ask about the setting feel free to ask me. I will answer anything that Agana knows. So for example of you ask me how large the Taya Tribe is, you would get an appropriate Bronze Age estimate but if you ask me how large the world is, the answer is "you don't know.")

>>
>>4979323
Can you tell us the tribes relations to other tribes?

What do we grow? I heard mention of ark wine, can you tell us more about the product and which tribes produce it?

Do only the taya get pigs? How do they get them?

What are the customs for tree cutting? Is it common knowledge that forest keeping lets trees thrive?

How do the ahi sustain themselves if they don’t farm?

Do the chontou have a stratified class system? Why do they not like the ahi?
>>
We also need more capable people to do work and represent our interests to the tribes. Like inside people so we’re not straining ourselves and missing out on planning festivals to talk to people
>>
>>4979864
We clearly need an ally in each tribe, just so we stop unintentionally mucking things up when it comes to cultural sensitivities. It's also be nice to have a friend taking the pulse of each of the tribe, so we don't alienate the tribes away from the Axeholder and the Great Peace.
>>
>>4979861
>Can you tell us the tribes relations to other tribes?
I will link a spreadsheet
>What do we grow? I heard mention of ark wine, can you tell us more about the product and which tribes produce it?
I don't know who you mean by "we." Arkwine is produced by the Chontou using fruit from their groves.
>Do only the taya get pigs? How do they get them?
Wild boar are native to the highlands and central plains. The Taya tamed them into doomswine.
>What are the customs for tree cutting? Is it common knowledge that forest keeping lets trees thrive?
Ilsa only cut dreamlogs in a strict schedule based on a nature based calendar and only in limited amounts. As dreamlogs are the most useable timber on the Island, the low supply and high demand makes them very valuable. Many wars with the Ilsa have been to get more dreamlogs.
>How do the ahi sustain themselves if they don’t farm?
Ahi have a near monopoly on fishable and diveable coast. Ahi seahunt using a mit'a system and find organized labor used by the other tribes as barbaric and brutal as a result.

>Do the chontou have a stratified class system? Why do they not like the ahi?
The Chontou have a complex system that is only vaughly understood outside the Chontou themselves. Its core is a base caste of farmers ruled over by a landholding class. Chontou farms supply most high-quality fruit, grain ,wine and textiles to the Island making them economic rivals to the Ahi with their monopoly on seafood, preservation salt and jewelry (sand-glass, pearls and shells). Their labor system are also dynamically opposed. Chontou think the Ahi are lazy decadent drunks who buy stuff they will never work for, Ahi think the Chontou are brutal slave drivers.

>The Ilsa think the Ahi lifestyle is decadant and out of touch with the motherland. Ahi traders want to open up the dreamlog market and have invaded Ilsa in the past to do so.
>The Taya find the Ahi to be savages with money due to their free wheeling seaborn lifestyle and lack of major settlements. The Ahi see the Taya as a rival power like the Chotnou and have fought several proxy wars and a few outright wars with them.
>As the two richest tribes Ahi and Chontou have fought directly and indirectly for ages. Their labor systems are philosphically opposed.
>The Nupuri and Ponni had little pre-Peace contact. Working together as laborers and being hated by the richer tribes is forming a pan-tribal identity.
>The Ponni once raided the Muli people who lived near the plains. Working together as laborers and being hated by the richer tribes is forming a pan-tribal identity.
>The Muli and Nupuri had little pre-Preace contact. Working together as laborers and being hated by the richer tribes is forming a pan-tribal identity.

This explains so much. No wonder the Ilsa hate us so vicariously. If we find another island with useable forests we'll declare the dreamforest off limits to mass deforestation. We should also encourage this pan-tribal identity, as it'll not only be useful for keeping them in our powerblock, but this is generally good for the Great Peace and the island as a whole. With any luck, we may be able to incorporate other tribes into this identity later on.
>>
>>4979959
We should create a capital to rival taya and offer a political marriage, a consort.

They might respect us more that way, especially if we tide them with pear gifts
>>
>>4979932
The Chotnou are also our traditional rivals, and our labor systems are philosphically opposed.

If you somehow find a way past those issues, then we both would be a powerblock in our own right, easily able to displace our rival Taya despite their enormous population.

If I don't get any votes for my prompt here >>4979339, then I'll support this just to move things along. I would like to talk with our supportive tribes as well, just to keep relationships good and promote that budding pan-tribal identity. If we play our cards right, maybe we can get the Ahi involved in bankrolling our allies, and becoming assimilated into the new culture (maybe even as the bankers).

Agana: I know there has been tension between the Taya and the Hall of Peace, what can I do to you so you feel a part of this peace.

Taya: It seems the only people who the Hall of Peace care about live in mud. In the old days the Taya were the pride of the Island. We turned base mud into mighty buildings, when others hunted beats we crafted them into life that exists only to die for us. And now the Hall of Peace hands out the fruits of our efforts to those who could never do it themselves. You let them invade the Sacred Groves of the Ilsa, you used our sacred tribute to line the satchels of those river barbarians and you gave away the land of the Chontou to people who could only farm stone. What is next? Will you turn our Empty Hall into a home for their children? Will we be asked to offer our spouses to slake Ponni desires? What is the purpose of The Great Peace if it only sucks us dry?

>Your response?
>>
>>4980555
(The specific Taya who answered was Zees.)
>>
>>4980555
That is the price of Peace, for which all the tribes will pay. Would you rather you prefer to pay a tribute of blood to War, which does not build but destroy?

I cannot promise what the future will bring, or the Price the Great Peace will demand of us all, but I can promise that is if the Taya do not benefit for the treasures that the seas will bring, I'll hand my Axe off to the next Axeholder, whoever the tribes find worthy of the position.

If that is my price to the Great Peace, so be it.

(Going for broke here lads. I figure if we cannot maintain the Great Peace, we should probably finish our campaign promises and move on to one who can heal what we cannot, though I like playing as Agana. I won't force the decision on you all though, so I'm willing to ignore my prompt for another anon's if they have a better idea. Nice trips btw.)
>>
>>4980555
>>4980650
If we want to delegate, this is only going to push them away, I really think we need to offer them something.

Are any of our ships ready? We could send out a preliminary expedition and offer the Taya to scout new lands and the first opportunity to take certain lands for their own profit

say:
>Our fleet is not quite ready, but only with the aid of these smaller tribes like the Ponni "mudmen" you speak of that we could begin their construction. These tribes are all contributing what they can now that their lives aren't at stake with war.

If some ships are ready then:
>Why not take a few ships for yourself and begin searching for new lands? We can offer you use of the fleet, the best land from 3 islands your tribe can discover of your choice, and labor from the smaller tribes to develop it.

This is a long plan, but it might make them more accommodating of this barter system.
This way they can make their own profit and we're not really giving them anything directly. In fact we're offering to give them aid. We just need to make sure that they get something of exchange for the tribute
>>
>>4980779
Frankly, I'm not certain that will work, they've been quite leery about the treasures of the sea. I think their real hang up is giving away shit to the supposed savages without any material gain. Frankly, I don't know what we can offer them now that the doomswine deal has fallen though, and I think rewarding treachery with more land is more idiotic than anything. Better to give them treasure now (for some useful service, instead of just another bribe), as they seem really short-term focused, or try to lower tensions some other way.
>>
>>4980814
Do we need them for the short term or long term? I’m down with just civil earring thirst bitches
>>
>>4980829
Technically, no. If we maintain the support of the other tribes, and keep our promises, we'll be good as far as it comes to retaining the Axe, barring unforeseen circumstances (an inevitability, but what can you do?). It's more about the stability of the Great Peace long term that worries me. We shouldn't alienate tribes outright, ya know?

But there's nothing that comes to mind that I think the Taya will go for without screwing us over in the process. Best bet? Try and use the political tension between the Taya, Chontou, and Ilsa to fracture any attempt at a coalition, and see if we can't include at least on of them later on in the short term. Long term, we're going to need to adress their grievances at some point, but that can happen after we sent the fleet out to see what treasures there are to give, and what each tribe may want of these treasures.
>>
(Feel free to debate more, I can also answer questions with information Agana would know [or thinks she knows]in universe.
>>
>>4980964
Anything the Taya or Chontou have a great need or desire for? What would happen if the Ilsa were to retaliate against either tribe? Would the Ahi be in favor of directly helping this new pan-tribal identity (and subsequent tribes) if we word it right (cement our powerbase and fuck over their direct rivals)?

I know Ekashi would've made the Ahi and other 'savages' autistic about economic freedom and such matter, I just wondering what tribe he would've hailed from? And had we went with Taika, what would've been the major challenges of his rule? I'm curious.
>>
>>4980964
What's the other tribes opinions of kicking out the Taya of the alliance?

Can you tell us about the Taya city? Where is it located, surrounding topography, approximate number of houses or comparable land size of nearby buildings?

Are there any tribespeople from different tribes that we can trust to be loyal? What about poor Chontou or Taya?

Honestly I had this random idea to burn their city to the ground, it could work since most early cities were made of natural dried material:

>Pros:
-Removes Taya as a military threat because foodstores will be ruined at best and people will die at worst
-Might encourage Taya to depend on other tribes or force them into a position that requires our help

>Cons:
-will absolutely fuck us trying to manage refugees(send them as exiles to other islands or slave labor for chontou?)
-if we get found out Agana is totally fucked

>>4980012
making a city sounds nice, but will take waaaay too long

Rome wasn't built in a day, but it was sure as fuck burnt down in one
>>
>>4980991
The Taya don't have many natural resources aside from the mud they use to build their cities, their pidgeons and their Doomswine. Things like timber, salt and most fruits and vegetables are traded with the other tribes. (Or taken via war in the violent times.)

Actually military retaliation would threaten to destroy the entire Great Peace and restart the mass Tribal Wars, which would be a very bad thing.

Since the three poorer tribes all voted for Agana it would be possible to convince the Ahi power brokens to forment closer ties between them.

Ekashi is Chontou.

Agana thinks that the Ilsa's interpretation of Loa worship is too strict and that dictating a single definition of the Island's culture would stamp out anyone who didn't fit that definition.
>>
>>4981087
Every Tribe would most likely think kicking the Taya out would be a very stupid idea that is just asking for violent war.

Kutha Mardika is located in the Highlands, it is fed by irrigation from the Muli river. Its building s are made from bud bricks, the drier climate on that side of the Nupuri mountain has little rainfall and so they do not dissolve easily. It has thousands of people but no one has been able to give a firm number (The Taya have stated several but they can't be trusted to be accurate.)

Many people from across the Tribes are loyal to The Great Peace. Every Tribe agreed to it specifically because it was in all their best interests. Agana believes most Islanders are loyal to the great Peace in concept even if they disagree with her execution of it.

That said, given how your Axeholder ship has gone it may be hard to find Taya or Chontou who would be ok working with you, though the poorer classes may be more open to it.

>would the Taya be open to discussion revolving around helping other tribes adopt the Taya's culture?

Since we want to make a full on civilization, we're going to need crops, class systems, and religion, democracy can work but definitely not in the idealized modern format of equal rights unfortunely. I know we want to do like a moral one, but it's really not ideal

I don't think they are, and if they were the other cultures wouldn't be up for it. I'd rather stick to our original pan-tribal culture we seem to be creating desu.
>>
>>4981517
How would you sell this idea though? Different groups don’t need the same identity to provide services with mutual benefit, I see why a United identity is useful, but seems too hard to implement due to the varied lifestyles and tribalism
>>
>>4981590
A united identity is hard to implement because we're in the process of making it from scratch, you can't build it in a day.

Unfortunately, I don't think we can sell it to the Taya. They've got a stick up their ass that'll be hard to dislodge, thinking us all as unproductive savages while they are both civilized and urbanized. I have no ideas on how to dislodge that stick and bring them into the fold, beyond waiting for an opportunity that doesn't jeopardize much of what we're trying to accomplish.

Best thing we can do short term is to prevent a coalition from forming from the disunited dissident tribes. The Ilsa being attacked, while saddening, will prevent them from working too closely with either the Taya or the Chontou. My bet, if the Taya aren't willing to bite with anything we propose and are unwilling to work with us (or even state their terms beyond their grievance and politicking), our best bet is the Chontou, ironically enough. I don't know what they will want, or even if they want to get on board with us, but at least we've had previous dealings before with one chief, so that something at least.

If the political situation doesn't improve, at least we're in a decent position, having a slim majority is better than being in the minority here.

Agana walks to the Ahi section of the camp, her nervousness as a politician dwarfed by her tension over meeting up her family.

Her mothers Koa and Keilani stood at the table, surrounded by Chiefs and Peacemakers, wine is being poured in celebration.

As they saw Agana, cups were raised in praised.

All: To the Axeholder!

Agana raises the Axe in recognization of the praise and moves to talk to the assembled elite.

Agana: Mama Koa, Mama Keilani, Cheifs of the Ahi, thank you for your support in these trying times.

Keilani: It wasn't easy Zees was convincing to some of these, pig brains, but your mother and I sorted them out.

Chief Eleu of the Ahi: As if anyone could beat the two of you in a debate.

Koa: And don't you forget it!

Another laugh and cheer has Agan flashback to the Ilsa woods. Seeing Mama Koa and the warriors cheer over the blood of the killed raiders, and wondering how they got there if they lied about meeting your messenger.

Agana: I am Axeholder of the Island, not just the Ahi, but that still means I am looking out for Ahi interests alongside everyone.

Keilani: Just make sure that fleet is put together dear, and we wont have to dive a day in our lives again.

Koa:Like you ever did , Ku`u Lei. You know they day we met she had convinced an entire band of children to do her diving shift for her?!

Agana smiles, Mama Koa has told this story a thousand times.

Keilani: And then you talked me into giving you a cut!

As they lock eyes at each other in a way that grosses Agana out at even her age she ponders how to approach the tribe.

Koa and Keilani stop their kiss and look at their daughter.
Keilani: Sorry child, you know I get at festivals.
Agana: Speaking of, we should talk about the year ahead.
Koa: I heard the fleet is almost finished.
Agana: In two months or so we should be ready to launch.
Keilani: Then we need to talk about how we will portion the proceeds.
Agana: Earlier I tried to use the fleet treasures to encourage support.
Keilani: That is where you failed, dear. Those people are fickle, they cant see the larger picture like us. With no fleet you might as well have promised air.
Koa: But with it finished we should be able to secure your votes for a generation.
Keilani: If we gain the largest portion it would stoke anti-Ahi sympathies especially given your title.
Agana: I could go the other way, give the Ahi the smallest portion as a show of peace.
Koa: Better yet, state the Axeholder's tribe shall always receive the smaller portion, it will encourage some to support your title if it empties our purses.
Keilani: A smart woman we married, of course as we'll manage the fleets we will be able to take more than enough without anyone noticing.
Agana: Wouldnt that violate the PEace.
Koa puts her hand on Agana's
Koa: My love, your heart is a wonderful thing but do not let it grow so large it breaks your brain. The Peace will stay intact, no one will draw blood, we will merely take what is available.

>Go along with this for now
>Disagree with the concept.
>>
>>4989656
>And if other tribes decide to join the fleet? I cannot simply ignore them.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Ahi loaning out some of it's riches to the other poorer tribes, and getting more in interest back later as a way to funnel the wealth of the seas to the Ahi, but I'll just assume that that's an autistic idea ant leave it at that.

As it relates to this idea, I honestly don't know how I feel about this. It just seems likely that someone will find out eventually, and this will be a powder keg to our administration if It's ever becomes know.

I'd appreciate other anon's thoughts on this.
>>
Agana: What about the other tribes abort the fleet?
Koa: Ku'u Lei, little one, in a fleet so large no one will be able to track every pearl jewel or log taken back. Do you think the other tribes will not be taking when they can as well?
Keilani: The fleet will depend on Ahi skills at sea, that gives us a power advantage in every action off the island, it will be trivial to aquire excess goods.
Agana: It is still wrong.
Keilani: Wrong is when I had to miss you and your brother's childhoods because I was bleeding my feet across the Island helping to MAKE this peace you worship because every jealous tribe under the Loas wanted to see us dead. Wrong was when I buried your grandparent because they were on the wrong side of a Chontou headhunter. Do not lecture me on morals, girl.
Koa: Keilani, calm down.
Keilani takes a breath and looks back at Agana softly.
Agana: Your honor is admirable, it is why we chose you for this role, but honor without practicality is just pretensious stupidity. We have this fleet, we have control over it, we need to use it to the best of our abilities.

>Tell your mother you will agree to let the Ahi embezzle treasures form the fleet
>Put your foot down and say no.
>>
>>4990857
At this point we can’t stop embezzlement, at our level our government doesn’t really have property as much as individual tribes or people own stuff. Since the Ahi are near the coast they would function best as shipmasters or captains.
I would say give ahi tribesmen ownership of individual ships and other tribes less, take from the Taya and give all theirs to the Ahi because we ended up bankrolling a lot of our ideas

>make it clear as axeholder we can’t permit corruption but also can’t stop it and privately tell the ahi that as captains it will be their duty to prevent corruption

So imply they can embezzle but they’re on their own if they’re caught and we’re giving them a better opportunity to
>>
>>4990857
Agana: As Axeholder, any embezzelment will not be tolerated.
Keilani opens her mouth to speak.
Agana: So the Ahi captains appointed to each boat will be in charge of supervising all intake. Any treasure taken and not reported will be dealt with by them.
Keilani smiles.
Keilani: I knew we raised you right.
Agana: That just leaves how to divide the spoils.
Keilani: With th fleet finished in construction we will have to give more incentive to the Ponni for your votes. The Muli and Nupuri we already paid off.
Agana: Those were acts of justice, not
Koa: You know what your mother means dear, let her finish.
Keilani: The Taya and Ilsa are probably a lost cause at this point, what are your thoughts on them?
Agana: I cut a deal with the Taya, as long as we don't bother them outside their tribute they wont make trouble.
Koa: After the attack on the loggers they are lucky we don't invade.
Keilani gives Koa a dirty look.

>Follow up on talking about the Ilsa Attack.
>Let the comment go
>>
>>4991102

>Follow up about the IIsa Attack and ask Keilani about previous wars with the Taya and their warcrimes vs what we did

I wanna get a feel for how they fight and what tactics and equipment they use
>>
>>4991102
>Follow up on talking about the Ilsa Attack.

I wanted to finish the current conversation really, but I guess this is acceptable.

>>4991564
You do know that this line of conversation isn’t about the Taya really, right?
>>
>>4991635
>Koa: After the attack on the loggers they are lucky we don't invade.
>Keilani gives Koa a dirty look

It follows the dialogue tho, and i am also interested in how Taya are related to the Ilsa if we can't prove it

I do wonder about our convo tho, it was kinda cut off with "ok" kek
>>
>>4991662
I don’t want to play someone dense, and inquiring on Taya warcrimes while we have a figurative smoking gun staring at us in the face.

>how Taya are related to the Ilsa if we can't prove it

The pork being a plant? I don’t think the Taya didn’t try something, but I’m still curious (and slightly worried) about the Ahi involvement in all of this.
>>
>>4991684
exactly i dont see what we disagree about

im also curious about what the ahi did but we cant ask them directly, better to ask them about the Taya and watch for a slip

if you prefer asking about anything else or in a different way thats fine as well
>>
>>4991829
I thought you were agreeing with our mother’s ‘observations’, my bad. We’re fine any way you want to try it mate.
>>
>>4991843
>Follow up on talking about the Ilsa Attack.
>>
>>4991102
Agana: That reminds me, how did you defeat all the attackers , without losing a single peacekeeper.

Koa: They were poor farmers, not trained headhunters. Against pacifist druids and impoverished workers they could do damage, but they were no match for the might of the Ahi.
Several chiefs and warriors cheer in the background but Keilani hushes them.

Keilani: What is important is to make sure the Taya don't fund any more attacks like this, I don't trust them to keep their word.

Agana: What are you suggesting.

Keilani: We cut them off at the source of all power, wealth. Use the tribute to give away the doomswine for near free, no one will need to trade with the Taya and their coffeers will go dry in their shit smelling cities.

>Offer your response to this proposal (write in)
>Asl more questions about the attack (write-in)
>>
>>4994126
>Offer your response to this proposal

Smart, I’ll definitely keep that idea in my back pocket for when the time is right (i.e. when the Taya decide to fuck with us again, but don’t tell our clan that).

>Asl more questions about the attack (if this does contradict with the other prompt, ignore this prompt then)

You guys responded rapidly to this attack, so rapidly that the battle was over before I even got there. Where you guys already in the area/close by at the time of the attack? (If anons can come up with better questions, I’m all ears, as I don’t really know the right way to approach this subject with any amount of cunning or wit).
>>
>>4994783
exactly, good idea but keep it to ourselves. As long as the Taya keep to themselves no harm to us only benefit, plus im not sure how dependent the Taya are if they're that crazy about trading

I would propose a counter offer of making our own city better than the Taya because the Ahi are "much more civilized" so it is a disgrace we don't have a proper capital, OP do the Ahi have any major settlements/can you describe them?

I am also interested in the attack, but I feel like it has come and gone and any more relevant information will come to us rather than from us searching. There are much more present issues considering the Taya probably created the situation and they are content being left alone
>>
>>4995250
The Ahi don't have cities, and the Ahi seem to detest Taya's shit smelling cities.

I think relevant information will come from us searching rather than just coming to us, but I am at a loss at how to proceed with the investigation anyway, so I guess our only hope is to wait for more leads.
>>
>>4994783
(The Ahi Coast is dotted with several small villages and transient fishing communities)

Agana: Your plan to cut the Taya off at their source of trade is smart, but I will keep it secret for now. If the Taya ever step out of line it will be the time to strike.

Keilani: You are more subtle than I, daughter. You are growing into a fine statecrafter.

Koa: Excellent so we know how to split the spoils and we have a plan for th Taya. Are we settled with business then?

Mama Koa reaches for a cup of palm wine and presents it to Agana

>Accept the drink and relax.
>Ask another question (write-in)
>>
>>4995707
>Accept the drink and relax.

I would ask if they're willing to help cement our power-block with loans to our supporting tribes (not to be confused with bribes), but I can leave that be for another day if anons want. I don't know if this would be a good idea or if it's just an autistic one.
>>
>>4995755
no that sounds like a good idea, the Ahi want power and prosperity for the tribe, convincing them we're the ones on top while using the other tribes to make everyone profit is not too hard
>>4995707
>"Before that Mama, we need to discuss the Ahi's role as leaders. I believe our role is to support the other tribes. As Ahi do not farm, we can use their efforts to further own tribe. Making the other tribes more productive will result in our tributes and spoils all the more sweet. In other words to teach a man to fish is to feed him for life"

We can talk about specifics later, but the Ponni are like Proles and the Nupuri may yield valuable minerals. We're visiting the Nupuri next anyway right?
>>
>>4995707
>>Accept the drink and relax.
>>
>>4996712
Kelani: It is a good move. We already have the poorer tribes under foot. With a peaceful supply of trade and labor we will outpace the Chontou and Taya in a matter of years.

Koa: The Axe being with the Ahi alone will be enough for them to trade well with us, soon the Ahi will take our place at head of the Island.

Agana and her tribe drink and the night ends with promises of a new tommorow.

After a lon morning to nurse hangovers Agana details the fleet plans to the assembled masses.

Chief Boron of the Chontou: The Ahi seak to take the island, you would let their fishermen rule on the seas.

Agana: The Ahi are the only ones of the Island who are skilled enough to sail the deep ocean. If there are any Chontou who could keep a ship from being lost at sea, feel free to speak up.

Boron: This was your plan from the start Ahi drunkard! I demand a fair trade.

Agana senses Boron is giving a hint.

Agana: Very well, in interests of fairness, so long as I am Axeholder the Ahi will be given the smallest portion of all proceeds of our fleet. And in honor of their service in building the fleet, the Ponni will be allotted the greatest portion of the ships proceeds.

At the talk of payment to the Ponni all eyes turns to Zees at the Taya delegation who , instead if giving the expected response, nods in silent respect.

Agana: By the same token the next largest portion will go to the Ilsa due to their contribution of Dreamlogs.

Agana: In order of payment the portions shall be Ponni, Ilsa, Chontou, Nupuri, Muli, Taya, and Ahi.

The tribes jostle amongst themselves but all have reasons to be satisfied with the deal and so there isn't much grumbling. Except for...
>>
Ekashi the Lawgiver, of the Chontou law-class: Usury, Usury all! Do not you see, the Ahi seek to pry you with promises of foreign wealth yet you sell your souls here.

Zees: Cease your braying lawman.

Ekashi: I offered to unite the Island under a common rule of order, instead it bows to an Ahi coin purse. Do not you see? The Ahi failed to conquer us through war so now they do so through peace. Do even the great Taya kiss sniff the Ahi clam now?

Zees makes a move toward Ekashi: You would be wise to watch your tounge before you lose it.

>Let them fight.
>Break up the fight.
>>4996967
>>
>>4996968
I honestly don't know which option is in our best interests lads, but I suppose the chiefs can settle this amongst themselves. So long as it doesn't escalate beyond a personal level and no one is killed, I say...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_DbDKPvl3Vw
>>
>>4996968
>Break up the fight

And put it to a vote, this is a democracy for god's sake. The Taya don't vote at all, so the IIsa and Chontou are our only likely opponents.

The logs are already cut and IIsa is going to get the second largest amount of income from the ships so they're likely to vote this way

It's kind of a stupid idea that the Ahi are going to rule from giving others the most fiscal power. So if we put it to a vote Ekashi can't really complain
>>
(As was stated, all the tribes are on board anyway, it's just Ekashi being salty about how he perceives the Fleet and Agana's position as equaling Ahi essentially buying the Island. Also the Taya still vote, the deal was to leave them alone as long as they pay Tribute. So nothing like the land deal we did with the Chontou or the labor deals with the Ilsa unless we want to break it.)
>>
Tie breaking for letting them fight.

Ekashi: Why should I fear you Zees? I could you to kneel before me for half a cowrie.

Zees slaps Ekashi across the face and kicks them on the ground.

Suddenly the assembled chiefs swarm into a brawl. Generations of tribal resentment, conflict (and probably some post booze irritability) boil over into a storm of fists and kicks.

The Peacekeepers, standing by Agana's side, move in to stop the brawl but there presence only escalates it as the Chiefs strike back at the disgrace of being touched in the hall of peace.

While the Peacekeepers are dispatched, a Chontou Chief lunges at Agana with an obsidian knife.

She is taken off guard and would have died if not for Lono quickly tackling them to the ground. They wrestle in front of you.

>What actions do you take. (Write-In)
>>
>>4998799
Well, we can't really stop the fight right away, but how about:

>tell a few choice words to Ahi peacemakers regarding the Chontou chiefs

may help us in the future since they're our ideological opposite if we straight up remove them now

Zees is actually somewhat agreeable here but he did also attack first.

or:

>let the chiefs fight themselves out, then use the peacekeepers to arrest whoever is left alive and fought.

I have no real idea why the tribes are fighting each other if we're all in general agreement except for the Chontou, if anything they should be pissed at Ekashi for taunting the Taya and threatening the Great Peace.
>>
>>4998799
Assist Lono in subduing our assassin, then shame all the chiefs into stopping this children's brawl. Fighting in the sacred Hall of Peace. That all should be ashamed of themselves for disgracing the Peace so!

We'll also have to deal with the would-be Chontou assassin. I'm curious as to where this nugget will lead to, as this failed attempt on our life could lead to a political win for us, and we may gain something for our trouble.
>>

1,2,3 let them fight

>Zees is actually somewhat agreeable here but he did also attack first.

Zees was also antagonized and provoked.

>I have no real idea why the tribes are fighting each other if we're all in general agreement except for the Chontou, if anything they should be pissed at Ekashi for taunting the Taya and threatening the Great Peace.

Tribal resentment runs deep here. Most of these chiefs fought and killed each other's tribes and family at one point in their lifetimes before the Great Peace put a stop to the bloodshed. That type of bad blood doesn't easily go away during one's lifetime, and we're probably going to be dealing with more outbursts like this one for at least a generation.
>>
Agana rushes towards the assassin and fights with her metasibling together, just like wrestling a shadow dolphin on boats as youth, the subdue would be assassin.

Agana: STOP!
Agana yells to the assembled brawl.
Agana: You disgrace the Hall of Peace with this savagery, the Loa , the Land and the People are ASHAMED.

Seeing the Axeholder in mortal danger causes the brawl to calm down. Many brushed and battered Chiefs, lawgivers and Peace keepers alike she'd tears in shame.

Several Peacekeepers come and capture the assassin, a Crafter named Agota.

With the brawl over, damaged is assessed. No one is killed but there have been some injuries , including a few severe ones.

Ekashi stands with a black eye and Zees seems totally unharmed and glistening with sweat.

While Agota is bound in fiber thongs, the Chontou delegation approaches you.

Chief Boran: Great Axeholder we come to talk this lower case filth to face judgement for attacking the sacred office of the Axeholder.

>Turn over Agota
>Do not turn over Agota
>>
>>4999648
>Turn over Agota

The least the Chontou can do is to dispense proper justice on one of their own for this attack on the Axeholder, and set an example for all tribes to follow when one of their tribesmen take it upon themselves to attack the office of the Axeholder. (And yes, I assume this warrants an execution, but I will be curious as to the method of execution that they'll choose to deter such attacks in the future. Hell, if they manage to impress me, I'll even overlook the fact the it was a Chontou Chief that attempted to assassinate us).
>>
>>4999648
Agana: Take them, let the Island know today justice was chosen over venegence.
Lono: You're just going to give them back! They tried to kill you Aggy. They tried to take you away from us.

Lono is on the verge of tears but is holding them back, the same way he looked when Papa Jubu would scold him for losing a catch.

Agana soothe him.

Agana: If I kill them now it will just be an Ahi overlord winning d tribal violence we are moving past that, to an age of law.

Agana turns to the crowd.

Agana: The time of tribal warfare is behind us. We stand united in a new future! As Axeholder I pardon you all for your insults to the Hall of Peace. Commune with the Land and the Loa on how to do better.

Shame bleeds through the Island and Zees walks up to you

Zees: Axeholder-haku, I kneel. Please take your justice on me for starting such a barbaric act, it was unbecoming of a Chief of the Elite Taya.

Agana: It is not mine to forgive. Look.

Zees turns to see Ekashi, attended to by festival doctors, usually used to hangovers and drunken bruises not full on clashes.

Agana: Ekashi wounded your pride but you wounded his body. You both will have to live with that.

Agana walks off, the current plans of the day canceled towards the brawl.

As she entered the Hall of Peace, Agana takes off her sweat coasted regalia and lays down her axe with a long sigh. She feels a bit like crying but feels far too tired to do so. Her eyes lower until....

Mamas Koa and Keilani barge into the hall.
>>
Koa: My child! What evils are this! They must bleed a thousand times over! There children's children's children's will remember the day the Axe of Agana fell on them for all time!

Agana: Ma, please I just want to.

Keilani: You played that well child, we have the moral and economic high ground and with Zees repentant we have a way in with the Taya.

Koa: Is that all you can talk about?! Our daughter almost killed and it's still politics with you? To tēka, my father was right about you.

Keilani: Was he right about me when I bought him out of debt?

Your mother's bicker as Agana slowly fades away from the stress.

Agana awakens in the healing tent, the doctors around you hydrating you will dilute salt water.

Doctor: When is the last time you have eaten or drank anything?

Keilani: Do you fools know what you are doing? She just woke up! Aggy darling are you maika'i

Keilani rushes towards you but the doctor puts you back.

Doctor: There are too many people in this tent as is, you can't crowd her.

The Doctor looks around and then kneels before you.

Doctor: Please tell your mother's to leave, we must discuss this in private

>Ask your moms to leave
>"Anything you can say to me you can say to them."
>>
>>5001070
>Ask your moms to leave

Sorry momas, but if the Doctor is kneeling and requesting a private audience, I'll acquiesce to his judgement.
>>
Agana: Please, Mother's, leave us.

Keilani gives Agana a firm look and walks out with Koa.

Doctor: When have you last eaten.

Agana: Yesterday, I don't remember, what is this about?

Doctor: I have seen this before in my home village. The strain of leadership weighs as heavy as any stone. Even the greatest of Chiefs have fallen to their own Mind Shadows.
Agana stands up.

Agana: I am fine!

Doctor: It is my duty to preserve the Axeholder who defends the Island, and more importantly my dutu to serve the needs of my patient. I tell you, if you do not deal with this disease of the soul it could be the end of you.

After a day of recovery and hydration Agana walks to the tent recommended by the Doctor. The Mind Healer stands in a circle if attendants and stares you in your eyes.

Mindhealer: How old are you?

Agana: What?

Mind healer: Your hairs grey and your eyes sag beyond your years your mind shadow creeps deeper into your soul.

The attendants mix a sludgely purple substance and hand it to Agana in a bowl.

Mind Healer: Drink the Dream Door, and face the demons that haunt you

Agana takes a sip of the brew and lays back down. The taste is offputting and odd tingles crawl through her nerves.

The Mind Healder begins to ring chimes, the harmonies seems to vibrate into Agana's body.

The world warps, it raises in and out with her breath like the tides.

Nervous, she blinks and when she closes her eyes an array of shapes and patterns begin to flow outward.

Agana feels her mind and body melting into the warm cloth she is sitting on, songs from her childhood play in her mind as if from no source.

She remembers the shame in her Father's eye when Kamea and Eleu rejected her marriage proposal.

She feels the guilt over allowing the Ahi to embezzle.

She begins to cry and the tears wash sweat into her eyes, the stinging burns into her soul.

She looks down and the folds of her covers seem to stretch down into infinity.

>Go towards the folds.

>Look back up.
>>
>>5005641
>Go towards the folds.

Fuck it, and we're a catch damnit!
>>
Agana kneels down and sinks into the folds. She falls constantly darkness surrounds her. She finds the emptiness pleasing, almost natal. Until she hits the ground.

Mind Healer: Easy now, you must ride the wave, not fall under it.

Agana: Did you make us.

Mind Healer: We make us. Think your thoughts and become your truth.

Agana ponders and focuses she feels life is a dream she can break though. She emerges from one layer and finds another of dream. She breaks through in an endless chain.

Agana: Who is talking? Who are you?

Mind-Healer: The Loa are with us always.

Agana screams to the Earth.

Suddenly she rises.

Agana: How are you doing this?

As she stands straight she feels her breath through every pore. Her bones radiate with an eerie euphoria.

Mind Healer: Look into yourself, what do you see?

Agana: I see... justice.

Agana kneels and looks out towards the sea. She hears birds, waves and salt a thousand miles melt into one and she sees the target of her ambitions. The Isles Beyond.

Mind-Healer: You are held back by your past. Your family, your tribe. To be the Axeholder you must be engine such limits. For the Axe to rise, Agana must fall. Who. Are. You?
>Agana
>The Axeholder
>>

Tiebreaking for Axeholder.

Agana looks forward and sees a vision of the mighty Axe form from the shapes of the tent. She reaches for it, and it doing so stands tall. As she walks forward she emerges into the light of the world.

A thousand sounds real an imagined bombard her at once, she sees the mighty suns and looks out towards the sea. It is as if she can see the whole world before her she stands proud and knows what she must do.

The Mind-Healer comes from behind her and pushes a foul tasting fungus into her mouth. Agan chokes it down.

Agana: What is going on.

Mind-healer: Your journey is done, it is time to re enter the realm of Soil and Sand.

Agan drifts into a deep sleep.

The next Day Agan spends time recovering on her vision and hr choices, it is clear that the Ahi, and her family have been putting undue pressure on the Ofice of the Axeholder, what remains is what she should do about it.

>Announce to the public that political forces with the Ahi wanted you to abbet Embezzelment and enrichment for them.

>Privately confront the Ahi (which would include your parents) about their manipulations and how you will not tolerate it.
>>
>>5007092
>Privately confront the Ahi (which would include your parents) about their manipulations and how you will not tolerate it.

No need to embarrass them politically, and we do love them dearly, but the office of the Axeholder should remain incorruptible and impartial. I'm sorry for misleading you all with my intentions.

Lono, I won't forget that you saved my life. You will be a great chief one day.
>>
>>5007092
On the last day of the festival, tribes begin to pack and prepare for the journey's head. Crews must be selected for the journey and villages towns and cities need to be run.

Before the Ahi delegation returns to the Sacred Coast Agana holds a meeting with them.

Koa: I am glad you are doing so well, beloved, you have done well for the Ahi.

Keilani: This year will be the one that takes us into the future.

Agana: That is what I must tell you about. Mother's I am Axeholder of The Island, not of the Ahi, I cannot show favor to one tribe.

Keilani: Daughter, do you hear yourself.

Koa: Are you still unwell dear.

Agana: I feel well for the first time in many years. The Ahi will not be allowed to embezzle on the ships, I will not move to give them favorable positions over the Island, and I will not take orders from you. I will seek your counsel as tribal elites and see how I can serve the Ahi interests, but only as one interests of many, I answer to you.

Keilani: You make a mistake. Perhaps that Axe is so heavy you forget who put it in your hands.

Agana: I was chosen for this ax by the people of this Island. Twice. Because they believed in something better. Because they wanted peace and a future instead of warfare and conflict. Yours is the old ways, this Axe,
Agan raises it.

Agana: Is for the new.

Koa seems to almost cry but hold it back. Keilani stands firm and stern.

Keilani: We will be speaking with your fathers about this.

Agana: Good, give them my message.

The Ahi delegation walks off

Keilani: Lono, come!

Lono stands before you.

Lono: I am sorry Mama Keilani, but my place is with the Axeholder.

The Ahi delegation walks off into an uncertain future. Agan and Lono enter the Hall of Peace, sit down, and begin to plan.

Okay. Let's begin.

**END OF CHAPTER I**

Thanks for following me this far folk, this was my favorite quest so far and I love the back in forth.
I am going to take a short intermission to take questions about lore, feedback on the game so far, and any other thoughts.
>>
>>5007811
I enjoyed the quest so far. It's quite fast paced, and the decisions feel like they have weight to them. Good job QM!

Question- is there a way we can maintain our family relations without cucking to Ahi political machinations, or am I just being too hopeful?
>>
>>5007929
We'll have to see. I like the interplay of personal and political dynamics found in stuff like the good seasons of Game of Thrones , The 100 and stuff like Legend of Galactic Heroes and Code Geass. Depending on how you folks take the quest we will for sure see more of the Ahi political dynamics and Agana's family ties to them .

We'll see how our family situation shakes out then.
