The Golden Tiger job hit an unexpected twist when the gang discovered Spider, who was in the process of fleeing out a secret door in the back office. Along with local crime boss, the Dragon, they escaped in a car driven by Angela's old partner, Ray.

Angela swooped in on her bike to keep eyes on the fleeing car, while the gang ran back to their vehicles, sorted their gear and weapons out real fast, and burned rubber. Now they've followed Angela's directions to the bridge leading east across the water to Sunset Beach, where they're about to catch up with their prey.

All gangsters heal 2 HP and 2 Edge, and may reload their weapons from their ammo stock. Anyone may expend uses of healing items or ammo bags now, before they take their first turn.

SPECIAL ACTIONS:

DRIVERS
You can only use your backup pistol, or melee weapons. Only one person in each vehicle can act as the driver in one turn.
Spend 1 AP to:
Accelerate: Move up to 2 + Speed spaces forwards.
Swerve: Move up to 2 + Handling spaces sideways. You may move 1 space forwards or backwards during this.
Brake: Move any number of spaces backwards.
Slam: Roll +Hard to damage a vehicle adjacent to you.

RIDERS
Spend 1 AP to:
Attack or use gear items like normal.
Change position inside in the car.
Swap spaces with a willing friendly. (Each person may only swap 1/turn)
Jump between cars. You can jump over empty space equal to (Move/2, round down). Roll +Cool vs target number 7.

She slashes and stabs whenever Chien is able to bring her alongside Ray's muscle car; although the cursed katana cracks the glass and damages the frame, the car is tough as a tank, and you're practically going to need a tank to take this thing down. Rainfall can see the spindly form of Spider in the backseat, on the other side of the glass; in his hand, he's got a two-way radio, same model as the gang's own.

Rainfall looks up after bandaging her wounds. She sees something hurtling toward the pink coupe. It's fast, but it should be no problem for Chien to avoid. Rainfall, too, knows a little about driving, having successfully chaffeured Ramirez and Heckler's merry gang of bank-robbers a few times. She knows for a fact that nothing outside of mechanical problems could hinder a professional from driving on the wrong lane at the wrong speeds.

Then she hears the subtle clank of some piece of machinery in the car moving in not quite the right way. The car moves wrongly by a degree, a fraction more sluggishly than it did before. The smooth operation of the ride degraded just so slightly by the straining of its engine for just a bit longer than it could handle.

Did you know a Formula 1 racecar needs to change or rebuild its engine every 2 races? It wasn't due to the engine reaching the end of its lifespan, but simply because that slight deviation between the performance of the car and the punctilious demands of the driver creates a margin of uninvited disaster. In other words, oh no she could very possibly die and the only silver lining would be that they would be completely pulverize before they could feel any pain oh god.

But a professional always has a way out. She sees an opportunity for survival bloom for in a singular instant.

The road takes a hard left, merging with a highway offramp as it turns into a main road north through Sunset Beach. Most of the drivers are successful at taking the turn at high speed ... most of them. Meanwhile more enemies are already arriving, riding down the merge ramp on loud motorbikes, men in beards and patched coats. Thinking back at it now it was possible that he had a punctured lung after the car crash... good thing there's also this big hole in his chest so it didn't collapse on itself. Lucky break that.

The labyrinth of Heat City's streets is fresh in Non Grata's head. Taking the Washington Bridge through the tunnel, past the big merge curve into the city, and heading straight north, the road eventually terminates in a T-intersection. The property at the end of the street is ... what was it again? Right. An industrial dock and small shipping complex. Warehouses, cranes, a quay. What is Ray planning? Could he mean to ... no, that's crazy, right?

Ray's car smashes through the chain-link fence blocking the docks. The car is smoking from the engine, twin tails of sparks shooting from the badly damaged rear tires. Angela is hot on his tail, Blackjack perched on the back of the bike. Ace's van and Dr. Ben on his dirtbike are right behind them. Angela makes a last-ditch attempt, sliding right up alongside the passenger window and taking aim with the shotgun at the driver. Ray swerves and slams her, causing her to almost spin out of control, and Blackjack almost to get sent flying; but Angela also manages to get the shot off. Ray's jacket is armored, but the impact, the car's wobble, and the fucked up tires all combine to send him swerving back and forth. Smashing into a metal framework on the right side, the rear door is ripped clean off; and on the next turn, the Dragon goes tumbling out, landing with a thud on the concrete, rolling several times before lying still.

Barely intact, Ray's car somehow makes it to the docks. He's speeding down the quay, heading straight for the water.

"You're out of road, asshole!" Alamo bellows. Then he sees there's a trailer ramp parked at the end of the quay.

The car hits the ramp.

For a moment, everything seems still. Ray's car seems to hang in midair. The lights of the city reflect in the ocean like stars in the sky.

The car lands on the deck of a yacht, parked in the harbor.

The ship lowers several feet in the water from the impact, wobbles, but steadies again. The engine is already gunning, a loud low groan increasing in pitch. It's accelerating. Dr. Ben and Blackjack fire the last of their ammunition after it, but to no effect. Empress looks around for another boat, but there are none to be seen nearby. Nobody can think of a way to go after them.

With all its running lights turned off, the ship travels in the direction of the ocean, where it disappears into the darkness of the night.

Strike has stopped the van by the collapsed form of the Dragon. Brick gets out and checks on her. "She's still alive, somehow," Brick says to Angela, as she pulls up on her bike beside them.

"What should we do with her?" Strings asks. "Finish her off? Leave her for the cops?"

"Load her in the van," Angela says. "I know someone who might be able to keep her alive. If she dies, she dies. If she lives, she'll have answers."

.... They weren't getting paid extra for this, huh. Sighing, Jackie gets off Angela's bike, placing a hand on her (kinda?) boss's shoulder. "Thanks again for the save, Angela. Seriously." She had, for a moment there, seriously thought that she was dead. She didn't want to die, and it filled her with nervous adrenaline just thinking about it, now. So what was that, when she was acting like "El Mucho Badass", spouting off pretentious Spanish, embracing the fact that she's about to die? Was it just her trying to suppress her fear? Had her time in the gang made her go cuckoo? Shaking her head, Jackie just went to help everyone pick the giant woman up, and drag her into the van. No point in overthinking it. Walking past Ben, she says, "Up top, Benny! Damn good work today," and gives him a high-five, before slowly walking off into the night, where she knows the closest bus station was. "I've gotta check on Mizzy and the kid, see you next time. Unless you want to come along?"

Ramirez stares after where Spider's car had escaped. The driver of that car they'd been pursuing had been impressive, managing to oversteer onto a ramp and then on to a boat. But Ramirez isn't thinking on that, either.

He's thinking about how the gang were *this* close to getting Spider, only for him to slip away. And perhaps surprisingly, for once his thoughts lie on a fallen fellow gangster.

Ramirez hadn't cared when Jacketwolf had died, in the ambush where Spider had revealed his treachery. He didn't know Caphound at all, either. But the two hellions had been in the gang since before even he himself had joined. But now? The Boss is gone, the Twins are gone, and the Gang is all but gone. Ramirez would never admit it out loud, but he feels as though an era is over somehow.

The old man groaned, coming back to his senses a minute or so after the crash. Maybe he had miscalculated a little. It had been a while since he last drove. His whole body hurt, but he could mostly handle that much. Probably would need some painkillers though.
He pulled his head out of the window, and gestured at a terrified road worker, who walked up closer. "You." The whole soldier grunted through his mask, before pulling out some rolled up bills from one of the many pockets of his ballistic vest. "Use that to buy you and your buddies something nice. And please don't call the cops until I'm gone." The poor employee nodded his head shakily, before retreating.
Badger looking at the passenger seat, finding it empty. The crazy fucking kid must have somehow left before he did. Finally, the old man grabbed the thankfully still intact pager in another pocket, and sent someone a message. Someone was on the way to fix him up, now.

Riptide wakes up in a bed somewhere in a secluded building. There's a dark-skinned man on a chair next to him dressed in medical attire, or at least, the nearest thing a street doc can get to it. Riptide's looks at the man, and his vision clears.
He almost wishes he died.

"Excuse me? Mayi, What are you doing here?!" Riptide associates many memories with this man. Mostly negative ones.
"Saving your life." Mayi just responds as if he was asked about the weather.
Riptide starts to move, aggravating his wounds. "Augh- No, I mean what are you doing in this country?! I thought you were still in that god-forsaken land!"
"I was told by your employers to keep an eye on you, so that any stupid shit you do is recorded and sent back to the Lord. Unfair, I know, but do you really think they would trust you by yourself, Riptide? Nyama? An educated and civilised one, but still a nyama." Despite the supposed insult, Mayi's tone is still neutral.
"So you're like my handler? Disgusting. Just- do your medical shit."

It was her first job with the heat city crew and things had already turned into a mess. Her first high speed chase, her first car crash and her first broken leg. The night was a lot of firsts for Maggie and a big part of her was starting to regret running with such an insane crew.

Fortunately for her, in a band of psychopaths and nut cases there were a few normal people like the waifish woman she was eating with right now. She went by the handle Weasel and the two had crashed then subsequently bonded together in the hospital over small talk. Now they were talking over lunch in their adjacent medical beds.

"Damn that whole mission got intense, do these jobs always end with more than half the crew in the hospital?"

"No, not usually" Weasel spoke with a slight French accent as she speared a piece of lettuce from her salad. "The whole situation was strange"

Not one but probably three incredibly high valued people appeared in this job and they were able to capture one seemingly out of luck. The whole job still rubbed Weasel the wrong way, too many things seemed strange and nobody in control of the situation told them about anything.

"You don't have to worry about anything madam Maggie haha" She giggled at the unintentional alliteration "We simply go where we are told to go and kill who were are told to kill oui?" The young woman gave a subdued smile, a part of her saddened by how jaded she had become when taking another person's life. It was a realisation that made her fear for her future but she pushed the thought back for later.

"Anyway what is your story? Any particular reason for joining the crew?"

"Well the money from the group missions are a bit lacking I agree" Weasel nervously rubbed her neck at how disproportionate the risk was compared to the rewards

"But at least we have side jobs oui? And the group missions seem to involve snipping problems in the bud before they appear" At least that was what she wanted to say. Honestly she wasn't sure what the crew's plan was or if there even was a plan.

"Yeah, I guess" Maggie decided to end the conversation there. It started feeling a bit awkward and she gulped nervously.

"I uhh I haven't spent a lot of time with a lot of women before" she tried to come up with topics of conversations that girls liked "Do you have a boyfriend? Is it - uhh Do you have a boyfriend?" she stopped herself before asking for a specific name

She took a gulp of water and calmed herself down "What brought out the sudden question?"

"Nothing I just- I thought that's what girls usually talked about" Maggie replied taking a moment to think "I mean isn't this Heat City? Drugs, Sex, Violence and all that Jazz?" Was she the weird one here? Maggie figured it would be normal in a city like this to help unwind especially after getting strung up so tight from getting shot at.

"We aren't that type of crew Maggie" Weasel rubbed her temples and tried to think about what to say "We're more like... like a family yes?"

She cleared her throat and tried to forget the awkward conversation "Anyway, I need some rest we can talk a bit more later."

To Seline’s general surprise, despite the spectacularly murderous firefights that had occurred literally hours ago, the hospital didn’t seem very occupied at all. Some people were brought in, many were just as swiftly discharged after basic first aid, a shot of painkillers and some stern advice to not get involved with car accidents or improper firearm safety. Few seemed to really…. Stay in, and nor were there many casualties from the night’s events- from her side or theirs.

She was one of those discharged quickly, after they diagnosed her injuries, wrapped a tourniquet around her upper arm for the shallow slashes, and gave her an ice pack and some bizarre frame for her toros, before instructing her to do just about nothing strenuous for the next week or so and pushing her out the door.

And that would normally be the end of it, more or less, before one of the crew- Alan, he said- called her pager, told her that it was likely compromised and needed replacement, and invited her to a meet and greet at the Blue Mare (her place of temporary work- small world). And because of that, she stayed behind for five minutes reading a map and figuring out a route via public transport to the bar, with that wonderful vehicle still impounded despite her best arguments, and because of that was present when an only slightly battered medic/ hired muscle came in through the front door.

She blinked once, then quickly folded her map, and before the man himself could turn around to see her leafing through a directory like an idiot, struck first.

Thankfully, the airbag had still deployed despite the hail of bullets. Less fortunately, the hail of bullets that had ripped through his car had cut him up pretty badly, none were direct impacts but the hail of shrapnel was incredibly bad for his health. Prying the mostly damaged door apart with his katana, Mizuchi will crawl out onto the cold, wet concrete. The glow of the nitrous in his car cooking off behind him continued to grow as he pulled himself up on the railing to get his bearings. He was going to need to make a few phone calls.

"Depends on your definition of fun" Chaser replied with the slightest hint of sarcasm.
"While it was certainly thrilling, my doc announced that I should be legally dead due to the sheer trauma of the explosion and that the fact that I didn't catch any serious fragmentation is a miracle in itself. The poor guy almost resigned on the spot out of exasperation." After a moment he continued: "Wait, you didn't know about the blown truck. Well, lucky to have missed that. How are you feeling? You look a bit stiff."
The ex-military then lifted up the bag he held in one arm. "I got food for you all, but I couldn't find anyone else. I guess they got already discharged. Want some? I got panstickers and soup."

‘….And am doing alright. No… much of anything for a week though.’
‘Soup is good.’ She picks at the container briefly, before something(s) seem to occur to her. ‘…..did Alan call you as well, to go to the Mare?’
‘…..and we don’t actually know who each other is, or are, or why, do we anyways?’
‘……and shrapnel? Exploding trucks?’

"Let's just say the chase got wilder." The sentences came between bites "I'm not sure if he did call me: my transmitter got thrashed. He probably did though, so might as well check it out."
"Don't sweat the details anyways, we fought together didn't we?"

‘…I still don’t actually know your name.’ Seline pokes at her half finished soup, before putting it to her lips and tilting her head back, draining it all in one go, before tossing the cup into a bin across the room. ‘…’m Seline. A mechanic. Is your name very special to you?’ ‘How much price has a word?’ ‘...less than the soup, I think. It was very nice soup.’ ‘Thank you.’ She seems to have a habit of peering intently at whatever currently holds my attention- be it food, or the people she’s talking to. (She is also sweating the details.)

"Ohh right, never mentioned it didn't I? You can call me Chaser. It's what everyone used to call me anyways, got more use than my real name so might as well be. Got kicked off by the army a while back, so I'm not exactly new to this kinda business. It seems like I can't stay away from it for too long. And you're welcome."

‘Hm….’ She seems vaguely bemused.
‘……when….you’re done… do you know how to get to the Mare on public transport?’ After wiping his face, Chaser pipes up: "Of course I do. The Blue Mare is in Freedom Square, so it's actually rather close to the safehouse." ‘………good.’ She seems content to mull over something, alternately studying him or the room in silence.
Trashing the by now empty bags and bowls, Chaser motions in the general direction of a nearby bus stop. "Let's get going then." ‘…..good.’ She follows, still mulling over something, as they go wait for the bus.
Eventually, though, she spits it out:

‘……..we should work together on a permanent basis?’ (She seems quite self aware how sudden this is.)
"I don't know about being lucky, but I'm still alive so I guess that's gotta count for something."
"I'm not opposed to working together, but that depends on what kinda mission we get. Gotta stay flexible."
‘……..sounds good.’ She stays largely quiet for the rest of the trip, only humming softly.

After mostly recovering from his wounds, Alan finally got the chance to set up a get-together with various members of the crew. The place they decided to meet at was the Blue Mare, it didn't have too much to make itself stand out compared to other strip clubs in Heat City but Alan knew that with Tony's management and help from the crew it would someday become a premier establishment soon.

"I'm here to see Tony the Tailor" he told the bouncer at the front door who waived him through. He passed the stylish double doors and walked through the reception, the quiet atmosphere of the evening gave way to the loud thumping of music and the sound of careless laughter.

Alan took in the scenes of the establishment, feeling the air of vice surround him while lights strobe and skin flashed in all directions making him slightly dizzy. It was a world that felt nostalgic but bittersweet to him but he shook the thoughts away before finding directions to the VIP area overlooking the main area.

The young man took a seat on the booth making himself comfortable before ordering a plate of chicken wings and an appletini while he waited for the others to arrive.

Riptide had recovered quickly from the crash. That’s one thing he had in his favour: A good healing factor, with help from that Damned Mayi.

Riptide needed to work fast though. He ran towards a recently established building, The Blue Mare. In his opinion it didn’t look very outstanding, but that might work in its favour: gaudy looks and flashy stuff is annoying and gets you noticed too fast.

“I’m here to see The Tailor.” Riptide was straight to the point with The Bouncer at the door, and was thankfully allowed inside. The moment he walked inside he was assaulted by lights, sounds and that uncomfortable smell of cramped, sweaty skin. He immediately looked around the area, you would think that the owner of the establishment would be inside it. But he found no-one notable, no-one except an obviously generic young man in the VIP area.

The Moloch, Alan. Damn it, did he plan this? No, that’s preposterous, just because he knows your name doesn’t mean he’s some mastermind. But he does seem to know everyone in this Gang somehow. Okay, okay, a safe bet is that he knows where Tony would most likely be, maybe he was even in partnership with him. So just stay near him, don’t bite his false head, and fish for info.
Riptide sat down and ordered a whole chicken with a glass of water before beginning his talk.

“So, I’m guessing you are waiting for a companion?” He glared at Alan through his mask, though it’s easy to tell that’s just his neutral expression.

"I'm for waiting for some people to share a drink with, taking it easy" Alan gave Riptide a smile, raising his glass in a toast before taking a sip "Why not have a seat, have some wings Jonathan. They aren't the best which is something I gotta talk to Tony about but they're still pretty good" part of him was really curious about the mask but Alan would just ask about it later.

Jonathan. Good, at least he didn’t know his real name. Riptide might’ve pounced him there if he did.
“I am not taking your food. You ordered it, so you’re the only one who will eat it.” Does this Philosophy extend to things other than food? Who knows?
“Besides, why would I have some of your food when you just admitted it’s sub-par? Are you trying to poison me?” Riptide’s tone makes it difficult to discern if that was a rhetorical question or a sincere one. He seems to be on edge regardless.

"To be fair the alcohol makes it great ha" Alan takes a bite from the chicken as if showing Riptide it was alright. "Bet some company would make it taste even better, only better spice than hunger's good company and all that"

"Anyway" he points a bone at the masked psycho "what brings you here mister Jonathan Rip?"

“I can imagine that any drink would make it easier to swallow. But I’ve never heard of that saying, why would the people around you make the food taste better? I’ve never heard of humans being a good spice either. I was many things, but not a cannibal back home.”

“As for my business here… Whether I can tell you depends on your relationship with a certain Tailor.” He decided to ignore the guesses at his name. If he doesn’t respond then there’s no chance of spilling something.

"Pffttt hahahaha" Alan took Riptide's words in good humor, he had already met people like Riptide before. The paranoia, the distrust, the inability to share even the slightest bit of information for fear of showing weakness. At the very least Riptide wasn't looking around every two minutes for environmental dangers and escape routes like when he was younger.
Alan could only feel pity but he didn't let it show on his face. "I'm actually Tony's... I dunno actually" he shrugged "I was planning on working with him but honestly I'm just mooching off his assets eating wings"

"So Riptide were you a child soldier? Pretty well-fed for one if you were, teenage soldier then? Straight into the suicide squads without the chaff cutting huh?"

Riptide laughs. Then shifts into guffawing. He continues when he can contain himself.

“Yes, a child soldier. I think I was around twelve years old when they shoved a gun into my hands. They didn’t even give me a rifle, just an automatic pistol. And just enough training that we wouldn’t die in the first minute of combat. Honestly, the fact that some of us survived in there is a miracle! As for food... Well, we had to hunt for that myself, but I was accustomed to that.” Although he’s recounting this with a smile, he seems to be radiating some heat. He takes off his suit and is left in a white shirt.

“So, how many people have you met with this sort of history? I can see at least three for sure, and five if I guess well.” In all honesty, he was thinking of six.

"Two" Alan smiles without explaining further then shifts into a sad look "sooner or later you're gonna need to fix that or at least learn to hide it." he swishes his glass and stares into it longingly "learn to glance when nobody's looking, smile when they are. W- err you aren't alone, not anymore... is what I want to say which I will since I'm a liar! Crew'll watch your blind spots at least, 's the whole point."

Weasel was glad to have spent time with Maggie and she was even more glad to have a night out with some of the crew. Although her first job in the Blue Mare didn't turn out the greatest, it was still a fun time where she got to sing and perform, to a crowd with admittedly poor behavior. Hopefully next time would turn out better

She picked out a nice dress, put on some makeup and made her way to a strip club which thinking about it now didn't sound like the best night out.

Weasel gave Carliago the bouncer a subdued smile and a gentle wave "Tony's expecting me" she told him before making her way to the VIP room where she saw an odd pairing. On one hand was Alan, who she'd worked with extensively in the past and on the other was a relatively new addition named Riptide who for some odd reason was wearing his mask.

“Monsieur Alan, Monsieur Riptide, I see you two are already having a pleasant conversation.” She took a seat and addressed a waiter “A bottle of aureola and-” she pondered for a moment “I’ll have whatever appetizers you recommend, something oily maybe fried? Pizza?”

“So” she addressed Alan and Riptide “What have you two been talking about?”

In another area Empress enters the Blue Mare in her business attire and takes a seat at the bar, ordering a neat glass of whiskey. She takes her time with the drink, savoring the sights and sounds of the lounge.

Alan realizes something and swore "Damn I should have gotten pizza, Tony's Italian I'm sure his club would have had great pizza... actually you know what" he addressed the waiter "I'll have a large meat lover’s pizza!"

"Anyway Weasel, nothing much. Jonathan Rip here thinks I eat people" he feigns offense "which I don't!"

Then another thought enters Alan’s head "Ohh what's your name by the way? It's weird just calling you Weasel all the time, I assume that isn't your real name."

Riptide interjected "I'm quite fine with calling her Weasel. It fits."

"Damn there's another crew member here but she's making it hard to join the conversation," Alan says to himself "maybe I should get Tony and bring her here with some guards that'd be funny"

"What?" Weasel was confused but Alan seemed to ignore her

She turns to 'Jonathan "No it's quite alright, it would be strange to use our code names out in public. My name is real name Adabelle Frost, good to meet Jonathan Rip"

"Actually you know what" he takes out a pen and scribbles something on a napkin then to the poor poor waiter and gets his attention "Rent boy!" he points out a window to a blonde woman sitting alone in the bar "See that woman with blonde hair, a tight skirt and big tiddies, take this note and pass it to her" he gives the waiter the napkin.

"What?" Weasel asks Alan again.

Empress receives the napkin, a look of confusion on her face. She opens it up and reads it…

~Yo Commie, get up here Tony's paying for drinks!~ Alan tries to wave at her from atop the VIP room trying to get her attention.

Empress finishes her whiskey and sets the empty glass on a ten dollar bill. Getting up from her seat, she turns to look for the person who sent the note. Ah, it must be the man waving. She slowly makes her way to his table with a sultry walk, buying time so she can put a name to the face.

“Alan, right?”

Alan gave her a somber face, looking genuinely hurt. They'd already met in the safehouse gym before when he wanted to box Solomon "Yeah it's Alan"

"Just trying to gather people up in the crew for some drinks... How've you been doing Empress? Growing your spy cell? I wanted to introduce you to Tony, I'm sure you two would have a lot in common." He downs his Appletini and considers ordering another but decides against it.

He points to the other two "Weasel and Riptide by the way or Adabelle and Jonathan if you wanna use real names"

Weasel pouts and starts sipping her bottle of aureola annoyed at being ignored. She just awkwardly looks at Riptide and eats her food.

"So are you gonna order anything?"

"I've already ordered. When is that chicken going to get here? They could've at least given me my water while waiting. This is some shabby service."

Empress nods her head at each of them. "Pleased to meet you Adabelle, Jonathan."

"Yeah, Alan, I've been working on that. It's stressful, though. I can't bear the thought of my sisters getting into trouble. After what happened with Veronica..."

Alan steeples his hands, grinning widely as he makes eye contact with Empress

"Shouldn't it be *our sisters* getting into trouble? Or wait I guess not since we're not in Russia"

He softens his smile and changes the subject "Terrible situation that. I might joke but I'm sure Mizuchi and Ben would consider them sisters if you do. They're good people."

"Anyway, I don't really have much to talk to you about unfortunately." He checks his watch and looks around "I think you'll have much more to talk about with Tony the Tailor since you guys are basically both starting your own splinter faction in the crew."

Empress puts her hands on her hips, looking down at Alan angrily.

"What do you mean by 'our'?"

"Just a jape, old CIA joke nothing to worry about"

Almost when the food is being served, you hear the sound of people navigating the stairwell. Soon enough, some of the last guests arrive- Seline, Chaser following her into the VIP area.

Deftly slipping through the crowd, the hired guns soon join you at your table after stealing some chairs from some place or other, after the obligatory greetings.

Beyond being in some kind of torso cast with a coat still bloody from the night’s turbulent events, Seline seems otherwise fine, though somewhat confused by the overloading plethora of faces to greet and talk to- quickly resorting to ducking slightly away to order from a menu she can barely understand.

…..very strange…. Eating instead of serving… staff discounts are good though…”

Alan looked at the pair entering with a predatory look, for a few seconds not speaking a word or making a sound as he watched the two people of opposite gender and similar age with a sadistic grin. There wasn't much time though, he knew that this particular story couldn't be pursued right now but he scratched the note even deeper into his head.

"Seline good to see you, I actually wanted to introduce you to this masked Congolese weirdo. He runs guns, you mod guns, I think there's money to be made!"

He then turns to Riptide to introduce Seline

"Jonathan this is Seline, she was raised by basically doomsday preppers and wolves"

She gave Alan a funny look, sensing his staring, shifting just slightly to ensure my machine pistol hadn’t somehow been revealed from under its hiding places of cloth and coat. “…….my mother’s not a wolf….. and my father’s neither…”

She pushes the menu aside slightly. “….hello.. Jonathan?”

"Call him Jori, it's his nickname"

"I don't think I need to say that you shouldn't trust him much." Riptide replied

Seline shoots Alan another dubious look, then once she’s reasonably confident ge’sdistracted, orders her meal and finally comments.
“…..from where?”

"Where is what coming from? Please explain your question before I have to assume what you mean." Riptide does not like beating around the Bush.

“Mm…. The guns. From where… Do you run them?”

“……..prefer parts. But knowing is good- the city is strange.” Seline seems somewhat embarrassed as she realizes the flaws in her first question.

Ah, she was a customer. "My benefactors ship The Guns and Parts to a Warehouse near the docks. It also doubles as my place of living."

“…….but where do they come from? ….. who makes them?”

Alan suddenly gives Seline a sharp look! "Don't ask!"

“……..” Seline is silent

Alan softens his expression then continues "What I mean is you and Jori are still strangers, that's kind of personal I think."

"...A foreign country of strife, made by my people. That's all. We can follow up on this later." Riptide chimes in

“…..hm…” Seline ponders his words

“…..Jonathan…. I think, when all parties are armed, honesty is good…. So…”

“……..am not a bartender.”

“Hm…… am a mechanic. Would prefer to make my living… making.. changing things.”

She slips a pistol out of her coat- some patchwork creation, a mutant that should’ve been three decades out of date altered to the nines until it likely only contains traces of its origins, even if gaining in lethality, before simply… unfolding it into pieces before your eyes, the parts twisting and clicking and disconnecting into modular pieces- though you can’t imagine that’s good for the gun’s general integrity.

“…….if I… were to be a customer to your second business…. Would compete with your first.”

“……and there are no other businesses- not ones that will deal… with this crew. Places to find parts.”
“So…. Am bartender.”

“And if I am to buy…. Will be competitor…. Unless?”

Riptide's eyes widen at the sight of this mechanical deconstruction. He'd never seen this before, he had so many questions! How did she make this monstrosity? How did she break it down like she knew every piece of the structure? Where did this woman learn this?!
But he focuses on the most important one.
"I do not want to make an enemy of you. In fact, my benefactors would probably want a local on the team for convenience. What would you work for? How would I convince you to join a partnership?"

“…..”

Seline seems amazed that it went so easily.

“…………”

“Who are your benefactors?”

Riptide coughs and starts to think, a dangerous pastime. How would she react? Does he chance it? Wait, she values honesty. Just say it.

"My benefactors are what some call a 'Private Military Organisation', a formal way of saying 'Mercenaries'. They do Arms and Parts dealing on the side for a more consistent revenue stream."

“…..hm.”

“They are hands off, just desire… regular payment, for regular supplies?” She asks

"Yes, essentially. They gave me a Warehouse and some equipment, then said that they expect a cut of my income. Or at least, some return on their investment."

“……anyone else involved, beyond transportation?”

"No."

"...no-one else" He neglects to mention Mayi. That Thorn.

Seline speaks “………if just two…. Then equal partners sounds good. Will set up my workshop in the warehouse, help pay maybe for expansion, tools- we work together… pay off suppliers, even split of remains.”

“….have some warnings though.”

“……can mod firearms. Up to a point. Soon…. Finicky. New gun entirely.”

“This? Very careful…… works a dream, if treated right…. If not, soon your sisters will call you eight finger Emily…”

She seems to find it morbidly funny.
“And second…. If business is successful…. Will be using those contacts to bring in… others similar, from the country. Bikies, smugglers, hunters- people I was born to…. Family.”

“Never dared the city before…. Too many psychos, called me insane when I said I’ll come here…. But success will convince them. Won’t touch us, but they will come here….”

“And you will be implicit in that, if this goes….”

“Otherwise, is good?”

Riptide says "It is good. Although being what is basically a shopkeeper is supposed to be safe, I sell tools of murder. That is not safe, I know the risks."

Seline smiles slightly and shakes his hand.

“…….good. Will drop by… tomorrow. Take a look….Sort fine details then.”

“…..dinner now. Want the pistol?”

She gestures to the multiple scattered pieces on the table.

“…..won’t charge. Noticed you looking.”

Riptide accepts the handshake and looks at the pieces. He was interested, in the same way, a scholar is interested in a new field of study.

"I will take the pieces, analyze them. Although they are, with no exaggeration, bespoke to the pistol, I will see if I could fit these into a new gun. Maybe bigger, maybe smaller. Unless that's not recommended?”

“All pieces of a separate gun…. Could make it work. If you recreate something new, from the pieces….”

“Hm…. Might catch my brother’s eye one day…. Can try. Don’t lose your fingers though….”

“….pleasure to meet you, Jonathan-from-the-Congos.”

"A pleasure to meet you too, Seline, The Lynx."
