Perpetual Defiance - Thread 5 - Dire Portents

Archive:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?searchall=Perpetual+Defiance

Welcome to Perpetual Defiance, here we play a game where you assume the role of a soldier working in the delightfully overpaid, but also morally gray Solar Auxilia mercenary formation which was lobbied into existence through the efforts of a lot of planetary governors through the Imperial senate. Your job is basically go to planets to keep a lid on things in case of a rebellion or a xenos invasion, and keep killing stuff until the Imperial Army arrives or the problem is solved whilst the governor lines your pockets.

The year is M31.005 and you've got the questionable blessing of being born as a Perpetual, an extremely rare kind of deviation of humanity who happens to possess a rather unique and questionable blessing. That being of functional immortality, with only very few methods actually existing in the entire galaxy to keep you gone permanently. Naturally, the downside is that the galaxy you live in is pretty shitty and about to get a whole lot worse.

The planet you're on is teeming with rebels. Not only that, there's at least one active Alpha Legion operative on the planet who sabotaged the space station and is likely responsible for swapping out rebel leaders with identical looking copies. Furthermore, another hostile vessel just recently arrived on the system, belonging to another group entirely. Well, you can check the details on the archives.

On the last thread you went to a fancy dinner party where you gave an interview to the planet's only media organization (obviously government owned and heavily regulated), got some medals, bought some guns from a gun show, blue balled an extremely influential lady of the high-nobility and ended up getting in a wrestling match with the champion of a local duelist fraternity.

We left off in a scenario where the governor offered you a boon for your exceptional performance, and you explained to him how as an aspiring officer, you couldn't afford to remain as a total meathead. As such, you requested for some education on the noble profession of construction work, as well as a copy of his libraries on as durable a portable format as possible.

Viewing these as reasonable requests, he acceded to your requests, promising to have this stuff delivered to your barracks as soon as possible...

t was the morning after the Governor's party.
You didn't get laid and you weren't hungover, but it was not entirely wasted trip. You did get into a fight after all and you procured yourself some serious hardware, along with some stuff you're probably never going to read, but might become valuable when you go to another planet where these books don't yet exist on.

The barracks were bustling with soldiers lining up for their morning recaf as you were arguing with some uppity corporal who had gotten high off his shitty little mosquito wings of a rank.
"THIS IS A MILITARY BARRACKS, NOT YOUR PERSONAL STORE ROOM! I DON'T CARE WHERE THE FUCK YOU GOT AN TWIN-LINKED AUTOCANNON-"
"A Storm Autocannon."
"SHUT UP! I OUTRANK YOU, DO YOU WANT TO BE WRITTEN DOWN FOR INSUBORDINATION?!?"
"Go ahead Corporal, see how that goes for you."
He then storms off, obviously going off to tattle to his superiors.
You of course neglected to mention to him that you're not exactly a specialist anymore. Your applications to the drop troopers and for officer training were accepted, along with the request for a week of personal leave.
You were now a sergeant in training, so you technically outranked him.

Still, the guy had a point. All the guns were taking a whole lot of room. Yes, you were an ace and everything, but this still was a military barracks. You had to give away some extra hats as well to your neighbors, just to smooth out the deal. You'll probably have to pay extra when you leave this planet just to transport your shit at this rate. You also need to work out something once you get transferred to the drop trooper barracks, hopefully they'll have more space, if not... Well, more bribes you reckon.

>(You have lost 1x Rebel Hat and 1x Aviator Hat in bribes due to lack of personal space.)

Hell, there's also thae hololithic database you recently got from the Governor, which fills up an entire backback. As you were pondering about your logistical circumstances and buildup of shit you have accumulated, a familiar face approached you.

"Want a Recaf?"
It was one of Klaus' new squaddies, Greg, approaching you with an extra mug.
"Well, since you went out of your way..."
"Gotta drink it while it lasts. If the warpstorm isn't gone by the end of the month, they'll start rationing it."
"Well, so long as we're not in stuck in the ass end of Imperium for a second age of strife."
He he gives a nervous nod
"Yea... I see you've gotten some stiff hardware in case that happens."
"Retains its value better than gold."
"Well, my leave is ending today. I'll tell Klaus you said hi."
"Work is work. Good luck with whatever you guys are doing out there."
"Same to you as well." He says as he destroys the contents of his mug with impressive speed.
"I'm gonna make sure my shit is together and do some last moment shopping before my time comes."
You nodded at him as he retreated to his own corner of the barracks.

For the coming week, you'd be spending your evenings on your studies within one of the many educational institutes on the city before embarking on a journey of self-study during your deployment, but for the time being, you had some time to kill.

All of the above.
1. Find a storage for all the junk, maybe the quartermasters storage can help.
2.Go see the Rodgers womenfolk and pay debts.
3. Ask them if they like to join you for a shopping trip. (We need to buy local trinkets, some common commemorative coins, computer chips, repair tools.)

As an aside, how much (if anything) do we know about the Alpha Legion?
Do we know that they're kinda sketchy and confusing or is that something a Solar Auxilia grunt wouldn't know?
>>
>>4882911
They appeared without mention or notice, sliced a station's control and gave it to us, then got escorted to our command.

And then suddenly, everyone is being searched b everything on suspicion of clones, shapeshifters and face stealers.
>>
>>4882911
You personally don't even know the name of the legion, not that it's surprising, seeing that the less the legion cares about their public image, the less you'd actually hear about them because they're a military formation first and foremost.

However, what you in character know is the following.
- The dude sliced the station's control and handed it to you
- Went to have a meeting with your higher ups
- The station he hacked started going crazy, issuing an evacuation order and the tech-priests you saved were left to suffer death by radiation
- The station's own vox arrays were used to block the communications on the station according to the tech-priest
- The previous planetary governor got murdered (according to Sneeb)
- There's a good chance he also killed your marshal (according to Sneeb)
- They've started meticulous genetic testing for infiltrators
- Another ship, not bearing the colors of the space marine appeared in the system, presumed hostile until confirmed friendly

>Reunion with the village people

[1/3]

After finishing off your recaf and depositing the mug to the washer, you took your little permission slip and left the military compound, heading towards a hotel in the upper-middle hive, the address of which had been sent to you by the governor's lackeys, along with instructions reminding you to treat the existence of the refugees as classified matter until the it is formally publicized, and that the failure to do so may lead to severe repercussions.

The city was, as one would expect, bustling with people. You got some looks from people as you took public transport in your uniform, but overall, you're not the first soldier to be on leave. Hell, the year was bound to end soon, far as Imperial calendars could be trusted anyways. It's always hard to tell if the day is the same at the other end of the galaxy or not.

Were it a more peaceful time, perhaps this city would be draped in more decorations for the celebration to the end of the Age of Strife and the beginning of our two-hundred year Crusade. The Imperial banners flew from the windows of most houses, to such an extent as private citizens would bother to. Few embers of festivity glowed in the sea of dreary routine of a city at war.

Though despite all the troubles the world was facing, the governor at least manages to keep the public transport running crisp and on the clock. Leaving the tram behind, you stepped out on the high roads leading to a mid-section of a tall spire, built around one of the city's enormous support structures. The exterior of the building was not too discernible from a regular hotel you'd find on the hive, save for the armed policemen standing guard outside, attempting to look inconspicuous.

As you approached the door, they gave you a nod and spoke something on their commbeads, likely keeping an eye on whomever came and went.

Inside the lobby, there were plenty of people, wearing a fashion typical you'd see on the Freelander's Town, women chatting and going through some papers on the comfortable looking seating as the children were either playing, watching the big-screen, or sleeping next to their mothers.

Approaching the female receptionist at the counter, you stated your business.
"Hello, I'm here to look for a certain family whom I owe some money to. Might you be able to help me with that? They should by surname Rodgers."
"We'll see... What did you say your name was again?"
"Aren Seion!?"
You heard an elderly woman exclaim from behind you. Turning your head, you recognized her face, she was the spouse of the man who cut you open. Deborah Noko, the gravekeeper's wife.
"Oh, hello. Long time no see."
The receptionist types something on her terminal
"I'll let them know you've inquired to see them Mr.Seion."

"How is it that you're here? Of all the places?"
"Well, I got some time off thanks to some good work I did, so I reckoned I'd pay back the money I owed to the Rodgers family while I'm nearby."
"How did you know we were here?"
"Well, I have some friends in high places who tipped me off."
You say, giving a knowing smirk.
"So, can you help me out here? Kinda was looking for-"

"Mommy! It's the man on TV!"
Only now you noticed, the thing running on the TV were actually clips of the interview you gave, mishmashed with some video footage of you climbing out of the gun-cutter and authorities dragging the lord mayor away, kicking and screaming as the reporter narrated in a calm and collected manner over the footage which had it's audio cut off.

+ "...I saw a guncutter revving up its engines, had to move fast. There were guards shooting, but there was no time to deal with them, I was going full throttle with my jetpack and only barely hit the vessel with my grapnel as it started accelerating." +

"So that's why you went missing!"
"Yea... That does sound like something I might have done last week."
The crowd in the lobby all started looking at you, curiously as you chatted to the older woman.
"Look, I'm just here to pay my debts, you don't mind giving me a hand?"
"Of course, I know where their room is! Comecomecome!"
She then starts beckoning you towards the elevators as some people break off the crowd and start watch you leave.
"So, Jeremiah still around?"
"He... joined the war effort as an assistant chirurgeon, saying that the living needed him more than the dead. Freelander's town is mostly deserted now. The men grabbed what they needed and went to war, the women grabbed whatever we could and came here. We've been trying to send applications to arms manufacturers and organize some volunteers to help raise the morale."
"Well, I'm sure the lads at the front will appreciate that. So, uh... An awful lot of people here seem to recognize me. Anything I should do about that?"
"Oh, don't worry, most of the members of the book-club know about your circumstances, so you don't need to be nervous around them."
....not really what you were talking about
"I'd be more careful about those Rodgers ladies, they've a reputation, you know. Colonel's been loath to discipline them, so they've broken many hearts of the boys in the town."
"...Sure, I'll uh... keep that in mind."

The old woman guided you through the carpeted hallways, lit by bright glow-globes, stopping at a white door, numbered with a brass plate, identical to so many others in the hallway. After knocking, you were greeted by another familiar face. The Colonel's wife, not looking all too pleased at seeing the old woman.
"Hello Martha, I bring to you good news."
>>
[3/3]

"Look Deborah, me and my girls are quite tired after the trip, so..."
She then takes one look at you with a tired face.
"Oh. Sorry, please, do come in."
"Not you." She bluntly tells to the older woman who was about to enter whom harrumphs in reply as she turns towards you.
"I see I'm not wanted here. Take care Mr. Seion."
The colonel's wife rolls her eyes at the old woman as she closes the door in front of her.
"That woman will take all your free time if you let her..."
As you entered, you took a look at the accommodations the governor had bestowed upon these people. Better than your barracks, that's for damn sure. Roomier and more tastefully furnished too, and far as hotel rooms went, this was actually a pretty damn good one.
At the living room, you saw three girls piled on the sofa on their pajamas in front of the screen, watching the clip where you wrestled down that roided up duelist back at the party. Unadulterated sweaty, shirtless man-on-man beefcake action, grunting, groaning and roaring testosterone at each other.

Their mother claps her hands.
"Girls! We have a guest."
As one, they all turned their heads to see your smug face.
"Oh, hi!" The horse girl Emily quipped. "You're on the news!"
"I'm aware." You replied smugly
"Wow, you've gotten bigger!" Joy exclaims, looking at your ripped physique
"I'm aware."
"That's crazy!" Sandy says pointing at the screen. "You're crazy!"
"Well, I did have a few drinks that night before wrestling that guy."
"Not what I was talking about!"
"Anyway, I understand that I owed you some money for the horse?"
"Ah. Yea, sorry about that, we kinda gave Kazakh away." Emily states from behind the couch.
"Pardon?"
"Well, all the men were going off to war, and we couldn't exactly bring him with us on the train, I asked, so he was taken by dad's Warhost. We did bring your bag though! And I can try and get you another one later if you want for the same price if you want!"
"I don't suppose you could get me a horses that can handle an orbital deep strike? I'm kinda in the drop troopers now."
"Hah!" She giggles "You'd need to get some ridiculous augments to pull that off. Horses don't handle falls too well."
"So you're saying it's possible?"
"Well, sure, if you can get the same sort of implants as the Tupelov Lancers have. They're the only ones I've heard to be crazy enough to try and pull off an orbital cavalry charge."
Hmmmm... That's an interesting idea
"That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard." Sandy replies
"So, in regards to the debt then?"
"Unless you want to press me to get you another horse, I'd call it settled."

Are you fine with this?

Well, I'm sure the Dictator heir of the entire planet whose main problems seem to be stemming from traitors would never be so callous as to utilize families of a militia organization he personally propped up at no small cost to himself, as hostages to, make sure he has an armed group with absolute loyalty and combat experience at his beck and call.

Now that just doesn't sound like something a dictator struggling to keep a hold on his power would do, you know?

They're not using stables. They're roaming the wilderness, doing scout shit. If they need to keep the animals in one place, they either use rope or construct some sort of enclosure on site.

> Lots of things at same time.

"Guess the horse business is settled then. So, what happened in the town after I left?"
"It all happened very quickly. The... ahem. Book-club people organized most of it. Every man and boy able to hold a weapon enlisted on the war-effort, every vehicle and weapon was taken for the warhost, all supplies that could be carried were taken to war."
The Matron of the Rodgers family replied on a sad tone.
"Whatever valuable we could carry, we brought with us when the Governor's men smuggled us into the city. What we couldn't? We hid away or destroyed. There's nothing left there but abandoned houses. Freelander's town is now a town of ghosts."
"The trip seems to have gone well enough at least, you're all here and alive."
"Yes. Alive. The trip was frightening. Come dark, we slipped through on a route we were told was secure, not sure if we'd be chased or not until we finally made it to the train, cramming inside it fast as we could so we could be on our way that much sooner. The young children were crying in confusion, not knowing what was going on or why... I don't understand why Charles would be so happy to go to war and drag our children into it..."
"Those who choose to fight today, determine tomorrow. It is why every soldier fights."
"Including you?"
"Well, that's a quote from my old discipline master. But yes, I suppose that is one of the reasons to fight."

"So! How's the Governor's hospitality been? I see you've got some room at least and your basic amenities covered."
"The Governor has been most generous and supportive of my husband's efforts from the beginning. We cannot complain on lack of effort from his part to accommodate for us."
Thr girls on the couch seem to be taking it a lot better than their mother, not being as morose.
"It's alright, we've got a pool, free food and so on. Don't really have servants or animals like back home, but we're refugees, so what the hey..." Emily stated in a nonchalant tone
"They offered to enroll to a proper school. Well, those who want to at least. Lot of women want to make money making arms and show their support for the boys." Joy continued
"Oh yea, I also got some night classes on that learning institute theg got here to get me a crash course on some trade skills."
"Trade skills?" Sandy inquired, lifting an eyebrow
"Well, you know, constructing buildings and vehicles, that sort of thing. Figured it'd be a useful background skill to have as an officer in training."
"Oh, did you get promoted?"
"Something like that."

We will see further down on the line to Heresy. Overall, you're pretty much ahead of the curve in terms of strength at the moment.

Granted, lot of that came from the high grade gear you were sporting.
Should point out that once you reach 60 on any individual characteristic, I'm going to be dropping the amount of skill-ups you get from that to +2 instead of +5.

After 80, I might drop it to just +1 depending on how fast you keep scoring those hundies.

We can and should focus on our weakpoints where we can. Our perception is shit and our willpower and fellowship are only mediocre, which is BAD. Even though we've basically been a gigachad caricature with how well we've ass-pulled ourselves this entire quest we can't rely on that to get ahead. Developing our skills would also be a good way to improve. Not everything is stats. Athletics or Dodge would make things a lot easier for us.
>>
>>4886069
This. I would also appreciate it if anons considered actually taking bonuses to stealth or perception checks next time it comes up. We're not Astartes, and even if we can perform somewhat at their level in terms of strength we are still only human, with all the squishiness it entails. A true Warrior trains his mind just as much as his body.

> Let's start with the storage plan.

This will be done on the background at an unspecified point in time, but I think it's good idea to decide on doing this beforehand due to scheduling issues.

Like so many things on this planet, the hive's storage company is run by an almost total monopoly. The only company which turns up in the public data terminals when you search for storage space in the hive boasts of being the only official government sanctioned storage rental and sales business in the city.

Despite the monopoly status, the rates they offer their services however, are quite reasonable even forthe local budget, depending on where the storage space was located.

The rates by which they bought back unused storage sites however were quite outrageous, offering only 50% back on the base purchase value regardless of the level of city the property was purchased on, upper or lower hive.

The rates went up higher depending on which part of the hive you wished your storage container to be situated at. The lower the level, the cheaper the price and the poorer the neighborhood. All storage sites had remote surveillance in case of a break-in attempt, but the company took no responsibility for stolen goods beyond calling the authorities when trespassers were detected.

There would almost certainly be some unofficial storage rental services in the city somewhere, but you weren't exactly keen to look for a stranger offering you a shady deal on storing your expensive shit, so you had to deal with the monopoly prices.

Rent.
>>
my thinking is that we can rent or give it or use it for long term storage in the event of Warp time dilation and those we are allied with would have a secure place to store things and use in our absence. After all if we own it and get thrown 5 thousand or 10 thousand years into the future as long as the hive stands we should still have it and not had our bank account drained dry over the millennia. After all we also are going to need multiple storage places around the galaxy if we want to save shit from the grasp of Chaos, and cant really do that as a renter
>>
if we rent this storage for 1,000 years we owe over a million gelts so if we get sent thousands of years into the future we will have no money or goodies left
>>
>>4886719
But we would still have to pay for the more secure one, or pay a million thrones for it. That Hive Hiedt job was a once in a while kind of gig, and we're not going to be payed millions of throne belts again anytime soon. We need to invest smartly.

>>4886744
Why not just take our shit with us instead of leaving it on a planet?
>>
>>4886687
You or someone once mentioned that we could bury some schematics then come back for it a thousand years later and claim its archeotech, but could would do the same if we went looting on a space hulk and showed everyone a schematic "we just found"? Due to warp fuckery, a hulk could be in the warp for who knows how long.
>>
>>4886760
the problem with taking shit with us when we leave is that we are most likely limited in what we can take with us on the ship out. After all i highly doubt that quarter master would be cool with us taking personnel sentinels, Weapons and archeotech with us and take up storage room if only we can use them. After all space on ships is at a premium already and that isnt even getting into what happens if we have to abandon ship. everything we couldnt fit in our hands or shuttle gone. Having ground side storage places are critical. Plus we could charge the family say 20 Gelts a year to store stuff, much better rate than anyone else, to make a small but tidy profit when we are gone adn we could easily partition off our section before we leave. After all if we get thrown hundreds or thousands of years into the future then that adds up
>>
>>4886774
That's a fair good point, but I'd hate to deal with storage management in the future, and having to travel all the way through the warp to this one planet for this one thing. What I'm sure of. Is that we will rank up enough in the SA where we could probably get away with taking a vast majority of our war gear with us.
Theres also the problem of things changing on planets we leave. Maybe everything is still there when we leave, maybe the management changes and someone breaks into our secure storage units. The latter is what I'm worries about.
>>
>>4886649
Buy
> Medium Vehicle Storage
> #4th level Midhive plan
We want something that's not so far down that it gets robbed, but not so far up that we have to worry about busybodies. Also when we get rich enough we're not going to worry about one shed full of gear anyway.
>>
>>4886789
I mean i feel that if this quest goes on long enough where we reach the point where we have our own ship then we could just do a time skip of a year in which we went around gathering all our hidden caches and while management might be a bit annoying we could also just keep it to one a Sector to keep it simple.

Also i dont think we are going to get our own ship command for a while yet, not at least till we are 3 years into the HH or something has gone real wrong
>>
>>4886809
If we're so keen on buying a storage unit, why not wait a little longer to see how things play out first, to se if it's worth investing? Renting sounds like a much safer choice.
>>

> Storage size: 10x30m ( Can barely park a Two Banebladee inside it. )
> #7th level Upper hive plan - ( 150% cost )

I'm not sure if I understood it but if we can just pay 175 TG a month for it instead of buying it right away it would be better, but if we have to buy it it doesn't matter, it's not even 1 million TG.
>>
>>4886789
You can always pay for space on the transport ships when the time comes.
>>
We should also equip the ventilator for off duty shinanigence.
>>
>>4887588
Rent also increases in price. If you rent the storage for 175 and it has +150% cost increase, it's 437.5 TG a month.
Granted, if you tried to buy it, it would be 1,212,500 TG.

Also, fun fact had you actually asked the Governor for a base of operations, you would have gotten an apartment worth couple million in the upper hive.

The cost of the education materials and the books are actually less than 20 000 TG in total, and you never actually needed the governor to buy copies of library archives, because this is still M31, and you're not a serf to be crushed under the bootheel in order to extract value out of.
>>
>>4887903
Oh well. It's not like the war's going to last for years, one way or another.
>>
>>4887891
Oh yeah that's reasonable assumption that you carry the thing around as personal defense weapon.
>>
>>4887905
Coulda still sold it for profit later. Anyway, monetarily speaking the two most expensive choices you could have requested were the apartment and a suit of power armor.

Granted, the added benefit of asking such meager things means he is also not expecting as much back from you in terms of a return investment.

Had he thrown few millions of worth of assets on you, he might have tried to rope you on another suicide mission, since you seem to be decent at those.
>>
>>4887910
Even if you're not permitted to carry them around, you can still stick it in the back of your pants with your shirt over it, then act like you ain't got it.

Works a stupid amount IRL, especially when people are not searching for a weapon on you.

Alright, so you're going for a 10x10m storage area.

This is going to cost either 625 000 TG to purchase the storage area permanently, or 225 TG a month to store your possessions in.

If you purchase a car or a motorcycle or something along those lines, you can also store it here. It is also legal to run a business from the storage, but there's no toilet and it's not exactly on a prime spot for opening a store.

"So, anyone feel like wanting to celebrate getting to live another day by finding someplace good to eat and doing some shopping? I've got a few things I need to buy, and seeing you just got settled in, I reckon you could do with a trip to the market."
"Yes, yes, yes a million times yes!" Emily replied eagerly full of excitement.
"Mom, we need so many things! Change clothes, feminine products, swimsuits, snacks..." Joy continued
"Come on mom! We're finally in the big city! Let's head out!" Sandy chimed in

The matron of the family gave a stern look to her children in response.
"...Fine, but I'm keeping an eye on our budget. We don't know how long we'll be stuck here, and I'll not have us go broke on buying overpriced stuff on from the markets."
"Yess!" The three girls celebrated in unison as they scattered to their rooms in order to get themselves ready for the bout of spontaneous outing.
"They've been wanting to visit the hives for a while now." The tired parent replied.
"Charles was never was too happy with the idea before, but seeing we're stuck here..."
"Ready to go!" The girls chirped impatiently as they poured out of their rooms on after another, ready to roam the greatest concentration of Imperial goods and culture in the entire starsystem.

After quick transit to the railway station, you took a trip to the main planetary hotspot, both for locals and travelers. That location was the Starport terminal area, more accurately, the market district near it, which boasted the planet's only dedicated market for Imperial imports.

Upon arriving the zone, you saw people wearing many different fashions from across the Imperium as well as a lot of off-duty soldiers, both from the Varangonians and from the local PDF, browsing the goods which could not be gotten anywhere else on the planet.

There were of course, goods of local manufacture also being sold and not everything was outrageously expensive. Many things were on sale fitting for different price brackets, including those of the lower income families, granted everyone always wanted to look at the fancy stuff.

Forge-world technology was after all desired by one and all, as were the unique products of various archeotech worlds. Vesser had lot of catching up to do in order to match Necromunda and the other hives made during the age of technology.

The girls were excitedly looking for all the exotic sights and sounds left and right, seemingly having something new catch their eye at nearly ever few dozen meters as you wandered about the markets.

"Mom! They've got communicators on stock! Just like on Darianne's Hope! Can I have my birthday money early? Pleasepleaseplease!" The horse girl pleaded
"No fair, if she gets one, I want one as well!" Sandy pouted
"I've wanted one of those things for since way before you two even saw them on your soap operas." Joy stated, somewhat offended.
The Matron gave one look at the price. 1300TG for the cheapest model and around 2000TG for a intermediate models with Mars Pattern craftsmanship going for 5500TG.
Needless to say, it was a vain hope for the girls to each get one of these things at the snap of a finger.

You knew of these devices, not because you actually were tech-savvy, but because you had seen a pissed off Discipline Master whip the skin off the back of a dumbass recruit for causing a major security breach with one of those things and making sure everyone knew why the fuck the guy was being punished.

+++ Explaining Tech! +++
+ Civilian Communicators +

+ An Imperial Civilian Communicator is a relatively advanced vox-messaging device, which is capable of establishing a wireless datalink for audiovisual communication as well as operating as a miniature data-slate for images and text. Some are equipped with miniature pict recorders.
+ Unlike common phones, the device does not necessarily require a service provider. Instead, you simply need to share an encryption key to establish a datalink to another owner of a device capable of vox communications. The range isn't infinite however and varies greatly depending on planetary conditions. However, within a 200 kilometer range, they are reasonably reliable and the range can be boosted through a vox relay service when available.
+ The encryption on these devices is relatively weak, and can be broken by just about any cogitator savvy person, allowing conversationa to be spied upon by most every tech priest worth their salt, provided they cared to do so.
+ These devices are highly coveted by most civilians in the galaxy due to their usefulness and scarcity. They are a major source of revenue to the worlds advanced enough to manufacture them.
+ Though usually permissible, the Imperial Army has strict regulations relating to use of these devices due to the obvious security risk they might pose if not handled carefully. Breaking Vox-silence is punishable by a summary execution at the discretion of the Discipline Master, and every owner of such a device is expected to take full responsibility to not jeopardize military operations with them, sometimes with their lives.

It's basically a smartphone without internet.

( Common Lore: Tech required for additional knowledge on these devices. )

"We'll get the cheapest one, and that's to share so we can call between the hotel and each other whenever we need to."
The girls look very disappointed at the notion of being unable to get their high tech gadgets.

Of course, if you wanted to, you could buy a hundred Mars-pattern communicators and you'd still have over 9 million Throne Gelt left, assuming they had that many at stock.

Though you didn't have an obligation to do so, you could buy each of them one as thanks for letting you remain as their guest for a while and for not selling you out to rebels.
Of course, you also had an ongoing fling with Sandy on the background...

As the girls tried to plead their mom to at least not get the cheapest one, you took a look of the selection.

+++ Available models +++
> [ Economy Models - 1300 each ]: Far from a uniform pattern, these devices are produced on technologically advanced worlds. They often are lacking in certain extra features or have some other problems. The call feature is guarantee though.
> [ Expedition Models - 2000 each ]: Fairly solid midline devices. It requires external charging, everything about these screams unremarkable, but functional.
> [ Ultramar Model - 3000 each ]: Manufactured for the 500 worlds of Roboute Guilliman, it is favored among bureaucrats. It is good for doing spreadsheet calculations.
> [ Mars Pattern Communicator - 5500 each ]: Based on an ancient STC design, this communicator pattern possesses an advanced cogitator unit and a modular design. It's got two power cells on alternating self-charge cycles.

You wondered whether or not you should get one for yourself. They were expensive, but at the same time they were reasonably useful in case you needed to establish civilian contacts.

Ultramar is bad, mars pattern is worse.
>>

My thought about why Ultramar was bad had nothing to do with price though.
>>
>>4890799
Your protest of the Ultramarine's primarch over a phone, [which is silly, since it's manufactured FOR the realm of ultramar, not BY them] is not my concern. My concern is price vs fucntionality.

You don't get farmers a battleship or carpenters sports bicycles. So why would you give the refugee's in a hive city expensive calculators when they have a pen and paper or datapad.

You've then one upped it, and gone for mars pattern and given them personal computers. My question is why waste the money on features they don't need?

I'd say go for Economy models, but that's a byword for "cheap" in both quality and price.

These ones are probably more secure and safe, we won't really be able to upgrade them later. Admech sunglasses go directly into your retinas. That's what I was referring to, and yea, servo skulls, albeit in this case probably not skulls due to their symbolic significance, but rather simply a hovering cybernetic familiar with the same feature set is potentially achievable.

Wh40k does not have internet beyond planetary level and very rarely do they exist in a form where the average civilian is allowed to post stuff there. It's mostly read only and when you can interact with stuff, it's mostly through forms nobody else can read.

Closest thing to a functioning internet is within hands of the Mechanicus in regards to the Noosphere, which isn't actually a thing yet for most Mechanicus guys because it was discovered at end of great crusade.

Dont see a reason not to make friends. Plus the cost is trivial for us and recouped within a few weeks of active duty. Question though - any way we can beef up the security on our own communicator? Also, getting a not!Servo Skull is a great idea.

The Enginseer that's a part of our regiment. He must be around somewhere.
>>
>>4891588
I can tell you this much though from what the sales agent can tell you.
The more powerful comms device you got, the more advanced encryption you can run (which is why military vox casters are often size of a backpack)

Theoretically, if you had a scholastic lore cryptography, you could probably make a non-standard signal encryption and with tech lore you could make signals harder to intercept.

Every vox signal that's been recorded can eventually be cracked though, issue is just time and processing power.
>>
>>4891588
We can make friends using the cheapest line of communicators. While the Mars pattern is the best type around, the girls and their family don't need all the extra bells and whistles if they're not expected to use all the features, least any time soon in the foreseeable future. It's not a smart financial decision if we continue this habit of paying for the most expensive option present to us, not to mention they'd still be happy to have any sort of communicators, specifically the Economy Model. Buying that should gain the same levels of gratitude as the Mars pattern.
>>

Do these communicators have functions like phones? Apps, cameras, adapters, etc.

Yes, they're basically pocket computers and they come with lot of different software, which beyond factory standard stuff, is largery region specific.

If you wanted to access local datanet with one, you theoretically could do this, but you'd need a vox tower that offers that kind of service to do it wirelessly.

Data transfer speeds on all these are fairly slow wirelessly though, but video and images can be sent from phone to phone.

Yea, why not. Chump change for you anyways. You could make that much in a month doing active combat of moderate danger levels and you had more money than you knew what to do with.
"Listen, how about you let me handle this one? After all, you guys took care of me for a while with no small risk to yourselves when you didn't have to. Besides, I've recently gotten my paycheck anyways."
"Oh, we couldn't..."
The mother protests
"Nonsense. I insist, although I don't intend to make this a habit. Wait here, I'll get you some toys."
You said as you entered into the store, being practically humped by the personnel the moment you opened the door.
"Hi, welcome, what can we do for you?"
Wasting no time, you got to the meat of the business.
"Yea, I was wondering, how many of those Mars pattern communicators do you have on stock?"
"We're going through the last dozen, likely won't have anymore tomorrow unless you get some now."
"Perfect, I'll take five."
Giving a shiteating grin, happy as a clam, the greasy salesman clasps his hands.
"That will be 27 500 Throne Gelt, is that alright with you?"
"Wouldn't be asking if it wasn't."
"Of course sir! Very good, let me just get your order for you."
The Man disappeared on the back, bringing five VERY thoroughly sealed containers bearing the insignia of the Cult Mechanicus along with a hefty line of various certification and check markers on the thin plasteel boxes they were stored in.
"Now every single one of these comes with a warranty that covers certified techpriest repairs for the next ten years at any cult mechanicus temples, free of charge."
"Sounds good."
"Additionally, since you're making such a hefty purchase, we're giving you a 300 TG gift card for our store, and a box of complementary sweets. If you have any problems with our products, simply come here and let us know and we'll handle the rest."
"Alright, fair enough, ring me up. Can I have them in five separate bags?"
"Of course Sir, anything for a big spender like you."

After burning through enough money to purchase quite a good car, you came out of the store with plethora of bags containing the communication devices.
"Got em."
"Oh thank you so much! I always ALWAYS wanted a communicator!" Joy exclaimed as she dashed for a hug the moment you got out of the store.
The girls jumped all over you happy and excited like a puppies in a pantry
"Which ones did you got?!" Emily inquired, hyper as fuck
"Now now, settle down." You said, handing the mother her bag first (hierarhy is a thing, you know), whom then proceeded to peek inside, her eyes widening as she turned back to look at you.
"You're joking?"
>>
[ 2/2 ]

The girls started squealing as they took a look at what was inside their bags.
"This is the most expensive model! How can you afford this?" Sandy asked with her eyes popping from her head as she took a look at her gift.
"Well I obviously got a bonus for the work I did at back at the hive."
"Oh, I just wanna go back home and tear into this package right now!" Joy giddily said as she hugged her package tight to her chest.
"Ohmygoshohmygosh!" Emily was being exceptionally giddy about her piece of high-end equipment.

"You didn't need to do this." The mother told you, being somewhat reluctant to receive such a gift.
"I know, but I wanted to. I repay my debts, in the good and in the bad."
"I don't think a few nights at the guest room is worth all this."
Well, that and you also fucked one of her daughters to oblivion and back, not sure how to put a price on that.
"Well, don't get used to it. I don't intend to buy everything you guys want, this was a one-time thing."

As you resumed walking on the big city, the girls kept peeking at the fancy toys they were carrying, each costing over three times more than the money they tried to sell a warhorse to you for, considering they're not exactly running on 100% profit margin, they're probably one of the most expensive things the girls ever owned personally.

As you drifted about the city you stopped on a grocery store for some mundane items four ladies living together needed in their daily lives.

You also had a few opportunities to look for various other things to spend your money on from military hardware stores to the simple recaf, all the way to vehicles. Seeing you had storage space to keep them for your deployment, you could always get yourself a car or a bike for the duration of your stay.

Of course, when you didn't need to use it, you could always let the Rodgers girls borrow it, not that there was issues with public transit.

[in mechanical terms a km per our willpower bonus, so about 3km].
The downside is they are fragile as shit, and if they die then we get the feedback, which can give us insanity or stun us in the middle of a firefight. It's just generally not worth it for us.

WOO, CYBER COMPANIONS.
While I'm not intimately familiar with that types exists in 30k, in 40k there are things like large cyber hunting dogs and several type of mechanical birds of prey. Since we fucking suck at stealth, I say we aim for something that gives us some long range tactical scouting ability like a Raven. If these Cyber Creatures don't function like that, we go for something more heavy, like a Falcon or something.

Also stock up on Recaf so we can trade it for hats when rationing starts.
>>
>>4891821
Well, I mean they can just be programmed to follow you around. You won't get the psychic link, it's just basically a servitor in form of an animal or a drone.
>>
>>4891827
They don't give us any benefits, mechancially because we are not a psyker.

But they can serve as attack beings [they shouldn't, they fucking suck for that] or long range scouts as you elaborated on like Corvids and hawks.

>>4891829
Ah, that's significantly worse then. Yeah no, I'd heavily recommend against this method. Immensely, completely against it.
>>
>>4891827
A flying servo-creature with an auspex scanner is pretty common, albeit you probably could also requisition one from the army depending on mission requirements.

Granted, these creatures aren't particularly smart or durable, so it's not unexpected for them to get blasted to shit pretty quickly after spotting enemies.
>>
Oh, and we will have to hide our supplies well. If the stash is found, we're fucked because they will plunder it and if the upper ranks catch wind of it, they may decide to hang us by price gouging laws and offer us the option of "donation" or punishment
>>
>>4891833
>you probably could also requisition one from the army depending on mission requirements.
So we'd be paying out of pocket for something considered somewhat expendable by the army and that has a low chance of survival in an actual combat situation.

Not gonna lie, I still do want a birb companion and going looking for one never hurts, we don't need to buy one. I understand that the notion of 'Tech Heresy' is distinctly related to 40k, but this is the Great Crusade Era and the Cogboys ought to be more receptive here towards modifications to existing tech. We've got an in with the Martian Priesthood in the sector, maybe we could commission some upgrades for it if we decide to get one. Increased durability, enhanced sensors that sort of thing. Heck, if its to get it wholly/partly coated in Cameleoline it'd be pratically fucking invisible and an invaluable scouting tool.

The Aloha Snackbar drone idea sounds good if the creature can stealth, which I very much doubt it can. Plus it would be a very expensive bomb, where would could instead Rambo people instead.
>>
>>4892228
Depends on how expensive they are. Having a security drone able to do long-range scanning and record things from the top of a tree seems useful enough to warrant some expenditure even if we might get it for free 60% of the time.

Because the Army probably won't let us use one while we're either off duty or stationed in a position where we can't argue we're in need of one. Having a foldable robot bird recon plan on our hip at all times has literally no downsides.

Besides we just bough so many fucking guns on a whim, more guns than we can possible carry at the same time, guns that are so big we needed a seperate fucking storage location for them. We bought these despite the fact we havn't fired a single bullet this whole quest. Why the fuck would we need to buy guns anyway, can't we just get our guns "provided by the Military" too?
That's right, we bought them because "they might be useful later". It's the same with this purchase.

> Let's start with a vehicle

+++ Vehicle Store +++
"Normally you would require a permit to purchase a vehicle, but in case of Varangonians we've to make an exception. After all, there's hardly questions on your loyalty, just on your ID."

+ Road Wheeler City Cars +
> 9000-10000 TG
Though the shape and layout of wheels vary quite a lot, there's not much difference on the actual performance of the vehicles in this category.
Equipped with a fairly simple and durable prometheum engine and not a whole lot else as standard, it gets you and your family from point A to B reasonably quickly.
Hive Vector is capable of producing and maintaining these vehicles and they make up a substantial part of the civilian exports.

The company which trades in these vehicles, does so with quite generous terms. Cost of a basic four seater model is 10 000 brand new, and 9 000 for a refurbished used one.

Used Road Wheelers you can return for around 8000 Thrones, provided they're in pristine condition. If there's some repair work or cleaning up needed, they will substract the value from the price, or in extreme cases, just give you the price for salvaged spare parts.

It is generally seen as a sign of prestige for lower class families being able to own a road wheeler rather than a motorized rickshaw.

+ Toad Motorcycle Cart +
> 4000-5000 TG

This five wheeled vehicle is essentially a bike with a four wheeled metal cart at the back. It is light, open topped and rough around the edges, equipped with an underpowered engine. It is cheap and favored by denizens of the underhives to whom budget is everything.

This vehicle doesn't have too many safety features, it simply exists as means of getting around to the very bottom of society, even if it's not very far or very fast. It's basically a motorized rickshaw with seats.

The Company selling these buys them back at 3000 TG on average, provided they're on good condition (usually they're not), and sells refurbished ones at 4000 TG and new ones for 5000 TG.

These kinds of vehicles are the most common form of private transportation in the Imperium due to them being affordable to even the poorest working class citizens of civilized worlds. Even on uncivilized worlds, the primitive peoples sometimes maintain such vehicles.

+ Royce Benz Salon Royale +
> 125 000 TG

This import vehicle is built for both luxury and security.
It is essentially an armored limousine and possesses a discreet pop-up turret mount at the back for mounting a heavy weapon on (sold separately).

There are no used variants of this model being sold, all of them are essentially brand new, albeit if you wished to sell the vehicle, provided it still runs and is intact, they'd probably offer a 100 000 for a used one, no questions asked.

This vehicle is mostly driven by wealthy people and retired officers. Seeing that the middle-class hive workers make around 12k a year on average, this vehicle is way out of the price range of most people.
>>
>Are there other types of vehicles you would like to look at, or would you like to pick from this selection?
>>
>>4893259
What kind of half-track? Are we talking about like half-track motorcycle, armored car? unarmored farmer truck size? a proper truck?

Help me out here, that's a pretty broad definition. Give me a pitch on the purpose you want it for.
>>
>>4893269
Military vehicles like that would likely be taken by the PDF straight off the factory, presuming any were made, meaning best you could hope for is like farming equipment.
>>
>>4893299
You mean like a Hummer or a Cybertruck? Probably somewhere on the 40-60k range depending on specifics.

I assume you just want like a big car that can stop like standard Autogun and pistol rounds.

+ Deltorado Armored Off-road transport +
>45 000 TG

Chugs through prometheum like nobody's business, has an angry engine capable of delivering enough power to move the vehicle through most difficult terrain.

This particular type of vehicle is often used by wealthy people who happen to like loud and powerful cars and aren't worried about the constant chugging of prometheum.

It is powerful enough to have seen service as snow clearing vehicle by Imperial settlers on hostile worlds.

This vehicle comes unarmed stock and doesn't possess a turret mount.
>>
>>4893336
Can it be modified to be less loud, more promerheum efficient, and have a pop-up turret mount?
>>
>>4893328
That's honestly medium tank frontal armor range to stop autocannon rounds.

Light tanks and sentinels can stop heavy stubber rounds fairly reliably, so long as said rounds are just standard.
>>
>>4893340
Anything is possible with high enough skills. Granted, your wright skills are fairly low atm, so drafting up such designs may end up causing a lot of damage on the vehicle.
>>
Why do we even need an armored truck? Not like we will be driving it into combat.

>>4893251
>+ Royce Benz Salon Royale +
This better come with three axles and an Aquila flag. Also the resale value is moot since we will be sitting on the vehicle for centuries. Point is to get it into a historic/unique value item. Plus the gun turret seems neat. Throw in a minifridge for Amasec.
>>
>>4893345
Could we just spend the time planning out the designs first until we create one that wont do more damage than goods, then apply the modifications?

>>4893359
Its disgustingly expensive though, and I dont know about resale value in a few millenia. I'd be down to buying it if QM can confirm this.
>>
>>4893366
Firstly, its the kool-kids-klub car. Secondly we have people shilling Bix Buxx for old Ford models today. Now imagine how much people would pay for an Egyptian luxury car with a built-in mangonel from the 1200s.
>>
>>4893366
Cars vary in value from world to world, albeit as an import car, it should have similar value so long as you find a buyer in most places of the galaxy.

Of course, not everything needs to be traded in Throne Gelt. They might just trade some equipment instead. Royce Benz is a relatively well known luxury car manufacturer in the Imperium as it shows up in some movies and parades.
>>
Now if we are talking about just shit that's valuable because it's old? Yes, largely this remains true in the Imperium as well to an extent.

Imperial history is revered, at least the agreed upon narrative. Possessing anything dating to the time when Emperor walked along mortals is a sign of tremendous prestige and such objects are coveted more and more by collectors as millennia pass.

If we are talking about say, Rogue Traders given opportunity to bid on a Great Crusade Era luxury car in M41, you might end up with a feud between houses emerging over something like that.
>>

Of course it should be noted, preserving a luxury car for over ten millennia is an ordeal on its own.

It's not really a question of money anymore because the aug market on this planet is so insanely small and high-end augments can easily run you several hundred thousand because you would need to coax a wealthy family give up one that belongs to them.

In case you I didn't make it clear before, this system isn't a high tech manufacturing world. Energy weapons and High-end augs aren't a thing they simply can make, meaning any that exist need to come as imports.

Trying to solve this by money alone is also idiotic because the army can supply augmetics and surgeries if they deem it worthwhile to do so and what they got access to is augs made in Mars, that is if they care to lend it.

>>
Cars are an extremely bad long term investment. We should aim for the smaller, technological trinkets. Probably the Expedition Models should retain a high resale value.

Eh, I mean the annual interest rate hardly is amazing considering we are talking about several Millennia long payoff cycles.

If you could somehow figure out how to accumulate cumulative interest in a safe manner, you'd stand to gain more monetarily, of course, money isn't everything in the Imperium.

Granted, interest is only possible to accumulate, so long as there's economic growth and thus of financing opportunities, meanwhile precious artifacts still accumulate value, albeit slowly, during times of economic stagnation.

https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Warp-Drive
Gellar Field
>All Imperial Warp-capable voidcraft possess a special module attached to the Warp-Drive which emits a unique protective force field called a Gellar Field. The Gellar Field creates a "bubble" of realspace around the starship that it essentially carries into the Empyrean alongside it.
>The Gellar Field protects the starship and its occupants from the hostility of the Warp itself, as well as from the predation of Warp entities, such as daemons, as it travels through the Warp, as a daemon cannot enter the field or even survive outside the Immaterium except under very precise conditions or special circumstances.
>In truth, the Gellar Field is a field of reality whose source emanates from the dreams of a psyker kept in a hibernating, comatose state. In their coma, they psychically project an aura of normality around the ship in which the physical laws of realspace still apply.
>The voidship effectively shields itself within the dreaming psykers' projections of reality which serves as the "bubble" of realspace that pushes back the Immaterium for a time. However, these psykers generally lose their lives through this process after a relatively short time, which means that any Warp-capable voidship must have new psyker "batteries" to replace the old at a consistent pace.
>The weakening, failure, or collapse of a Gellar Field while the starship is travelling through the Warp would be completely disastrous. Warp entities would tear the ship apart to reach and consume the souls of its crew and passengers.
>An unprotected human in the Warp may be possessed by alien, daemonic entities or driven insane by the phantasmal environment itself. People disappear without trace, while crazed mobs rampage through the decks living out their nightmares, leading to widespread murder and self-destruction.
>Sometimes a vessel emerges from the Warp physically intact but with no trace of its crew. Many such ghostships drift through the galaxy, and they are considered an ill-omen by all those who encounter them while sailing upon the ebon sea of the void.
In Theory, would it be possible to house a portable to house a Gellar Field on something as large as a Dreadnaught or Heavy Sentinel? What's your take on Gellar Fields? The wiki says the psyker batteries only last for a short time, but that seems kinda bullshit when the Lamenters were stuck in the warp for hundreds of years.

Stop me if I'm getting my hopes up for nothing, I'm just fancying the next to 0% chance of taking a team of tech priests to disable the warp cores on a space hulk and attempt to claim it before it phases back into space hell.
>>
>>4894447
Gellar field generators are defined in lore as being one of the reasons why starships are so big in 40k.
Smallest warp capable ship I think was just shy of a kilometer long.

Alright, so it's a draw between the armored limo and no car then.

>Luxury car -1
>No car - 2
>>
>>4894488
Non-warp capable starships are a lot easier to acquire. Also, I don't think warp skimmers require a gellar field, but those things are also insanely slower than regular warp travel.
>>
>>4894505
You know what I mean and you know what I want, a frigate or something we can own on our own so we can keep all our nice crap in out space box until we feel like selling them, but thanks for the heads up. What are some examples of non-warp capable starships we could POTENTIALLY get? When non-warp capable starships come to mind, I'm, imagining something smaller than a warp capable ship, like a Thunderhawk.
>>
>>4894526
Thunderhawks are a thing, yes. Gun cutters, Shark Assault boats and most aeronautica vehicles are capable of spaceflight. Marauder bombers and various other Imperial navy bombers obviously do this as well with varying operational ranges.

Imperial Defense Monitors and Interplanetary Cargo Ships are the most common in terms of interplanetary operations.

Up from that, you also got non-warp capable escort ships, but these tend to be big enough to actually be able to house a warp drive.

Theoretically, you can also manufacture vessels the size of battleships without warp cores, albeit few systems have the capacity for it.

There's also star fortresses which can be moved with great effort, and with right sort of setup, can potentially be moved by warp as well, albeit this is considered a very risky undertaking.
>>
I think in 40k a frigate is still like on the escort ship size, and getting one, let alone the permissions to get one, is not an easy thing to do.

System Government and Arbites are mostly responsible for non-ftl stuff and Sector Government is responsible for determining who is allowed to have warp capable ships and what routes they are allowed to take.

Unidentified vessels in Imperium are often, shoot first, ask questions when you run out of flamer fuel.

Rogue Traders and Inquisitors often are only oned with freedom to roam the galaxy with no questions asked. Imperium isn't exactly Schengen zone.
>>
There's also the added layer of navigators being things that don't come standard with every ship, meaning most non-military vessels do calculated warp jumps instead based on charted routes usually sold by rogue traders and explorators.

Furthermore, you've 2 decades in service of the Imperial Army during a time period when every single ship is needed for servive.

You're not getting a warp capable ship anytime soon. It's not something a mere millionaire can afford.

+++ Vehicle Stats +++
+ AP15 - Structural Points 25 +

+++ Vehicle Features +++
- Seats 6-8 people including driver
- Has a hatch up top and is compatible with the standard heavy weapon mount.
- Comes with a storage pod which can be used either for turret ammo or extra fuel. This is kept separate from the trunk, which is extremely spacious.
- The heat regulation system keeps everyone nice and cozy +
- Advanced air filtration guarantee a pleasant driving experience even on the most polluted hives.
- Passenger area comes with a cooler for drinks and a cigar compartment.
- Comes standard with basic medical kit and fire extinguisher
- Galvanic Motor prevents loss of speed even with only 3 functional tires left

The features kept on going, from cup holders to concealed departments for weapons as you browsed the brochure. Save for the lack of off-road capabilities and increased comfort, this vehicle was pretty damn close to military specs, a notion which you yourself found particularly appealing.

What the hell, you're a millionaire, a hundred thousand or so? Not really an issue. Also, you can drive in the hive safely without worrying about getting shot by assassins and such. Yea, why not? After all, it's not like you had much else to put the money on.

After shaking hands at the dealership and paying in cash, you rolled out on your brand new and shiny ride with a tank full of fuel to pick up the girls and to resume your shopping trip, but not before getting a rental deal on a storage space to keep this thing on during missions.

You parked your ostentatious ride aside the road and waited. After a few minutes, you saw the familiar faces arrive with hands full of bags, and you waved to them, popping open the door as they arrived.

With some confusion, they entered the vehicle, putting their bags on the floor as they admired your purchase. Granted, their family also used to have a limousine, so this wasn't exactly new to them.

"So, how do you like my new car?"
You said as you entered the driver's seat.
"You didn't just buy a new car while we were getting clothes."
The mother said with a somewhat concerned look on her face.
"Are you sure you can afford this?"
"Yes? I told you, I got a nice bonus for my last mission."
"How much do you even make!? My husband was a retired colonel, and we only got our wealth thanks to his pension and work as the head of the town. Do the Solar Auxilia pay that much more?!?" The mother inquired, clearly confused on how you're burning this much cash so easily.

> Keep it vague

"That's a bit of a personal question. Enough to get by, not enough to buy a spaceship."
"Doing well enough for yourself, at least."
You chuckled as the engine purred, and the car ate the road underneath it with fearsome momentum.
"Oh yes, when you do action hero stuff, you get action hero pay. Not that I expect being able to pull off many jobs like that again. Anyway, enough about me. Do you guys have anything else you need to pick up while we're on the road?"
"I think we're mostly good on here, what about you? Any further stops?"
"Just a couple, and then we'll go eat. I really need to stock up on recaf and lho-sticks. Now, I don't know much about being an officer, but I know the majority of soldiers don't function without a cup of recaf, and that when there's a shortage of lho-sticks, they become a secondary currency."
"You think they're going to run out?"
"We're at war and the warplanes are cut. If we're stuck like this for a few more months, we're going to see rationing happen, and as every soldier can tell you, the rations are always too small."
Emily gives a nod of approval from the back seat as she and the girls were busy fiddling with their new toys.
"Prices skyrocket whenever rationing happens. We should stock up as well, if for no other reason than to make sure we still can have recaf when we want."

As your new machine devoured the pavement hungrily, the girls somehow got their devices working after reading through the instructional manuals, whom eagerly instructed their mom on the operation of these newfangled things.

Your eyes catch a somewhat dinghy looking sign which told you all you needed to know. Cigars, Amasec, Lho-sticks. The girls gave you a bit of questionable looks as you pulled your car next to a store that clearly looked like it was frequented by bikers.

In fact, you saw several bearded motorcyclists at the side of the road giving you a nod and a smile as you passed to the store, some showing off their Aquila tattoos as you gave them the Aviator fingerguns combo.

The store was ran by a gruff looking bearded man wearing a leather jacket, possessing a cybernetic eye and what clearly looked like army tattoos and battle scars.

"Ave Imperator soldier, what can I get you?"

Why millions? I just want a years supply for our squad and some extra.
>>
>>4895004
Just saying, if we're buying coffee we might as well go for BIG and buy enough to buy everyone at least 1 cup, or buy a months supply for a few thousand when the shortage hits.

1TG buys you roughly 25 cups of coffee. A squad consists of roughly 8-14 people. Buying 100 kg of coffee get us 5,000 cups between 8-14 people. That's more than 1 cup of recaff a day per person. Yep, math checks out. That's a years supply of recaff, but se dont need to buy a years supply. I think we only need a few months.
>>
>>4895026
I think you are being too optimistic with how short this boogaloo will be considering CSM shenanigans and soon-to-be orbital dominance. Boarding actions are bad juju and we have no charonites. Regardless, I am not opposed to just buying all the coffee in the store either (provided we can actually store the shit and are not talking 20 tons or some such number).
>>
>>4895030
What if we bought out a recaff buisness, or purchased some acres of beans for making recaff for all our SA lads? Claim its nessassary for the war efforts or something.
If you pack all the coffee evenly, then should fit in the storage unit if you stack them all the way up to the ceiling.

I think you will find running a coffee business pays less than the same time spent on deployment. Just get enough to treat our men and have some bartering room.

Hmm, I like the look of >>4894947 the most, but handheld Recorder. If we use it, it's not going to need a mount.
>>
>>4895030
Your car can't fit all the coffee in the store because every grocery store gets their packets in pallettes, which despite having a big car, yours can't fit even a single one.

They move this stuff by the ton every month, so having 2 tons of coffee at the store room is not actually surprising, because sells reasonably quickly. Drinking 25 000 or even 50 000 cups a month is fairly easy to achieve in a regular city.

You buy it from the store. If the store is unwilling to supply you 50 tons of the stuff because there's a major shortage incoming and the markets are an extension of the will of the body politic, you'll have to make do with rations.
>>
>>4895242

[ 1/2 ]

After stocking up on narcotics and recaf, which some would also classify as a narcotic, you hit the road, finding a quaint family eatery to gorge yourself in.

Within the diner, you had a moment to relax. To kick back and forget the troubles of the world, of the galaxy, and the of war.

Sitting side by side with local women whom you'd grown somewhat familiar to, with some in more ways than one, you enjoy the small parcel of peace afforded to you during these times of conflict.

The food you ordered was hardly decadent, but it was familiar, and that familiarity brought a certain degree of comfort, as you had known these simple pleasures well.

A certain childlike innocence radiated from the girls as they eagerly examined the gifts you had given to their family, piecing together the mysteries of their function through the user manuals of the devices, trading encryption keys and trying out the message sending function.

Whilst waiting for your food, your communicator vibrated to life, signaling an incoming message on your inbox.

> + [ Thanks <3 ] + /Sandy.R
> + [ You're welcome. ] + /Aren.S

She gives you a smirk from across the table as she reads her message, pondering if she should reply.

> + [ Talk to you later today <3 ] + /Sandy.R

Before you could reply, your nostrils were assailed by the godly scent of steaming hot food as the waiter produced the plates for each of you.

Before you was a platter of groxflesh covered with a thick brown sauce, oiled up by the melted fat of the beast with steamed vegetables on the side, served with a chilled pint of that most ancient of beverages, beer.

With such a tantalizing sight, all in attendance pocketed their toys, and focused their chosen sustenances. As someone born on an orbital installation of sorts, a well prepared piece of meat always held a special place in your heart. Especially when it's made of such an ill tempered creature as the Grox.

As you enjoyed your meal, you tried to make small talk, but everyone was sort of avoiding the subject of the war altogether, none of you really wanted to talk about it too much.

"So, got everything sorted then? With the shopping I mean."
"Should be good for the time being. The communicators will help us keep in touch better. Still, I suppose we don't need to worry about the anarchist attacks up here."
"I'd still keep a gun on me anyways. I find it keeps people more polite when you're packing heat. Anyways, you got any plans while you're stuck here?"
"Well, the girls will be going to school, just need to pick what they'll major in. I'll probably look for some work, just like rest of the community. Have to keep up appearances after all, lest the those bitches take it personally."
"Yea, I get it. Back on my homeworld, people who didn't look like they were contributing enough to maintenance of the station got the shit kicked out of them and damned if you got caught complaining, you were as good as dead."
>>
[ 2/2 ]

"Is that why you joined the army?" The mother asks
"Well, sort of. The Imperium is a lot better employer than my homeworld was. I don't understand why anyone would stay on an overpopulated shithole when they can join the army. That, and it's a lot harder to criticize a family with a son in active service."
"So you did it to keep your family out of trouble?"
"Well, there's also the pension package, better salary, not too different living conditions, the respect, upwards mobility... It REALLY wasn't that hard of a choice for me to take the opportunity."
"Weren't you afraid you'd get sent off to die on some nameless world somewhere?"
"It wasn't exactly a bastion of health and safety regulations back home either, so not really. Here or there, I'd still pay for every Throne with flesh and blood, in the Army I got a much better price for it."

"But enough about me, any plans for the whole schooling thing? As in, what sort of fields you're looking to get into?"
You got shrugs from all around the table
"The Agri-stuff is our bread and butter, so I was thinking of pursuing that line of study." Emily replied
"But I don't know, maybe it's a waste to just specialize in that when our ranch might get blown to smithereens by the time we get back... Maybe study medicine I guess?"
"I was thinking of a legal degree. Maybe I'll run for some government job or something later down the line." Joy states
"I don't know." Sandy replied meekly "Maybe I'll just pick one at random or something."
"No particular interests?"
"I don't know..."
She said wearily

So, you finished up your respective meals and had dessert to boot, spending the time in small talk. Everyone was well and truly satiated, well, as satiated as one could be.
As thanks for driving around and being so generous with your gifts, the mother insisted in paying for the meal.

So, you drove them back to their hotel in your sweet-ass ride. Soon enough, you'd need to start heading to the institute of learning, but you could still have a quick chat with the Rodgers ladies, if you had something you wanted to talk to them about or ask them.

Should point out to you that if you that if you tried to stash anything in space by just leaving it floating in there, every rogue trader in the galaxy has legal claim on it, provided you don't own the star system it's situated on.

Furthermore, chances of them finding it are pretty great since a whole lot of them have access to the Emperor's tarot, meaning they totally use psychic scrying to find random shit to loot.

They're also not the only ones to do this, Inquisition uses psychic scrying, and Ecclesiastic priests have nasty habit of getting visions from the Emperor. Also, Eldar corsairs are psychic and Ork weirdboys are a thing too, in case any freeboota figured out ro use them to look for loot, provided they didn't just make a 'Lootfinda' that spots scrap in space.

Furthermore, Chaos fucks also like to steal and corrupt caches of ancient technology.

Finally, you don't seem to grasp exactly how valuable warp capable vessels are. Vast majority of planetary governors don't have access to warp capable vessels despite wielding the power of a planetary economy at their fingertips.

Global GDP was at 2020 approximately 95.8 Trillion USD.

Approximately US spends about 3.4% of their GDP to military spending. If we had a planetary governor on earth, he would be spending around 3.25 Trillion USD on military every year.

Yet in spite of such centralization of economical prowess, our world would likely not be one of those capable of acquiring a Warp capable starship.

Anywhere else has people moving about constantly. Nobody bothers to scan every 50m rock in space. > Let em borrow the car when you're not using it.

[ 1/2 ]

As you dropped off the girls, you let them know that should they wish to borrow your car whilst you were off on missions, they were free to do so, provided they didn't damage it and returned it with a full tank of gas.

Several of the freshly refugee'd townspeople were watching from the sidelines as you deposited the womenfolk, maybe expecting you to say or do something, but at the end of the day, you just drove off. You had, after all, some evening classes to take, and it wasn't like you'd get time off from the service every time you asked.

You drove up through to the upper hives, to an institute of higher learning and a monument to Imperial Culture, well, such as the fancy pants upper-class people saw it. There was always the Imperial Truth, and then the true Imperium.

The pursuit of sciences and higher learning was after all a luxury. A path open only to those who had the necessary funds to pursue a non-practical education. After all, the standards to receive Imperial grants were quite high, and the average imperial citizen hardly could compete with a 200-year-old scholar with cognitive enhancements.

Thus, places like these often existed at the pleasure of the local government. The rich and the noble, those who did not seek to necessarily compete with the greatest minds of the Imperium, but nevertheless saw the value in knowledge, or at the very least, the status of appearing as if one was well learned. Well, unless one genuinely subscribed to the Imperial Truth as an ideology, those people were around as well.

Well, higher education was now a luxury you could afford, such as it were. Not that you chose a particularly academic pursuit, but back on your home world, knowing how to build stuff was certainly a valued skill, not that there was much to build with, but always plenty to repair.

Upon entering the academy building, you were rapidly guided to a lecture hall, one of hundreds within the spire's cavernous halls. The decoration on both exterior and interior of the building were extremely Imperial in nature, pictures of leaders and artists, of iconography and polished Aquilas were everywhere. It was as if to make a statement saying 'What you learn here is not of this world'

The regular students of the Academy were apparently had to wear uniforms, were segregated by the two genders, and improper conduct was punished with a whip or expulsion. Meanwhile, the adult classes did not maintain the same level of discipline. They expected you knew how to behave yourself.

After making your way to the lecture hall, you were provided with learning material and tools by the courtesy of the Governor. As a good soldier, you were naturally ahead of time, waiting for the show to start.

As you were about to reply, the Senior educator arrived, starting up his lecture, beginning from the basics of the basics, namely, the tools of your trade, a laser measuring device, which is the key to every single major piece of construction work, from vehicles to basic housing, all the way to starship hulls.

Failure to master the art of measuring distances with a laser range finder accurately means failure to perform on every bit of construction work properly. Even a complete illiterate who knows how to accurately measure distances is more useful than a builder who knows how to work a thousand and one different materials.

Mastery of this simple tool, guarantees every single person in the class an entry-level job on every single world in the galaxy, either as an inspector or simply through marking out construction sites properly.

As the educator kept on going for a solid hour about the importance of proper measurement techniques for both laying proper foundations, but also for verifying structural integrity and compliance to the design patterns, your communicator kept quietly vibrating on your pocket. Someone was bombarding you with messages. You had a faint idea who it was.

After finishing up with the theoreticals on the use of the Universal Laser Range finder, the educator ordered that a practical lesson was in order, but not before a quick break so everyone can digest the knowledge and catch up or to relieve themselves in event of natural obligations.

You decided to take a moment to check the messages which had been shot at your way.

Main reason for that to be fair is because the defining characteristic of a space hulk is that it jumps in and out of warp at random, thus making them exceptionally bad for storing anything.

Granted, if you wanted to store something, generally speaking only way to keep it safe in 40k is to guard it with something powerful.

I think the biggest problem with the storage issue is that we're essentially like someone buying real estate in Warsaw in August 1939.

Honestly, don't get too attached to something that we wouldn't be able to carry with us in case of a hasty evacuation.

Flicking through your communicator's messages, you went through them one after another, after all, it's not like you needed to immediately reply to them.

+ Messages// Martha.R +
> + [ Thanks again for the gifts and the ride back to hotel. ] /Martha.R
> + [ Book club asking about you, not sure what to say to them. They want to know how far you've gotten on the book you were given, and asked to bring you to one of the meetings. How do you want to respond? ] + /Martha.R

Oh. Right, the Lectitio Divinitatus.
> + [ Left it on duffle bag for the mission. Was a bit preoccupied with air being 40%, so didn't get too much time to read it. I'll let you know if I'll have time to attend that stuff. ]+ /Aren.S

You weren't entirely sold on the whole notion on Emperor as a god, but overall, it's not like they were hurting anyone, and the book had some morally compelling arguments about the Imperium being a force of good and order, damned if anyone could refute that when anyone sane knew what the alternative was.

Not to mention it's pretty much a guarantee on loyalty too. You don't exactly join a borderline illegal religious community venerating the Emperor as a God unless you were really committed to the idea of Galactic Unity.

Still, whether you'd like to partake on that was another matter entirely. You'd have to give some thought on the matter.

Pushing the matter to a later date, you then flicked to other messages.

+ Messages// Joy.R +
> + [ Just wanna say, thanks for the communicator. PS: Wanna grab a movie or something before you go back to doing your soldier stuff? That is if you've got the time... ] + /Joy.R

An invitation to a date. Well, that's certainly something. You did still have six days off, it's not like you couldn't... Of course, you'd need to think a moment before giving response. There's also the issue that you're shagging her sister.

+ Messages// Emily.R +
> + [ Thanks for being such a sweetie! Still getting a hang of this communicator thing. You said we could borrow your car, can you teach me how to drive later? Thanks again! ] + /Emily.R

Well, she did teach you about the horse stuff, so its only fair... Maybe you could have her help you mount the autocannon on the car. After all, what else were you going to use it for? Well, you'd see to that affair later.
>>
> [ 2/2 ]

Finally, you checked the messages from the frisky youngest sister who writhed and squirmed like an angry constrictor serpent under the sheets.

+ Messages//Sandy.R +
> + [ Back in my room ] + /Sandy.R
> Datalink transfer received - "towel.impg"
> + [ You wanna hook up later for, you know? ]+ /Sandy.R
> Datalink transfer received - "notowel.impg"
> + [ Still there? ] + /Sandy.R
> //Datalink transfer received - "pose.impg"
> + [ Please respond... ] + /Sandy.R
> //Datalink transfer received - "pose2.impg"

Making sure to shift to a position where nobody could watch over your shoulder, you flicked open the first of the picts where the drenched girl maintained her modesty with naught but a towel.
Second pict, a picture of her towel hanging off her bared feet by the side of her bed with her swimwear drying on the background.
Third pict was a side shot of her posing nude on her bed, pushing her butt in the air. You are reminded of the evening before the mission, and the attrition warfare that ensued.
The last one was... well, a little more explicit, involving two fingers and a very narrow chokepoint ready for close-assault operations. This particular battlefield, you had indeed experience on.

As a bulbous and virile male, this invoked a very natural and expected reaction in the ministry of defense as you soon realize that an order to mobilize the tank column had been sent, with only precious few moments to try and recall the order.

> Success
> The Machine Spirits are soothed

The apocalyptic warmachine remains undisturbed by such idle provocations. Of course, you made sure to keep such imagery for a rainy day. After all, who knew when you were going to get another leave? Emergency rations were important, after all.

Before you could draft a proper reply to the many matters requiring your attention, the lesson resumed, and each of you were required to make some basic calibrations and measuring exercises for the next hour or so, until you were sent home with some reading materials, as a week-long course would only teach the most basic of basic foundations.

Once the class was done, you headed back to your car. Reading the material wasn't honestly a problem, seeing that you didn't really need to sleep anymore. Not unless you really wanted to. Plenty of free time when everyone's out cold. The harder thing was getting practical experience on this stuff. Not like you'd be making a trench-line every day.

Of course, before starting to study, you probably should reply to the girls. After all, it was rude to keep a lady waiting, and a soldier should maintain a certain degree of decorum.

Firstly, the matter of the booty call. The girl is clearly thirsting for some action. Question is, should you take her out for a sortie? By sortie, you, of course, meant fucking her brains out again.
> Schedule a booty call with Sandy?
> Y/N

Secondly her sister proposed the two of you go on a date. Damned if the uniform isn't working it's magic! Also, it's not like you're dating Sandy, right? You're allowed to see other people. Besides, it's not guaranteed you'd end doing the nasty, right?
> Schedule a date with Joy?
> Y/N

Next was the matter of Emily, she wanted to learn how to drive your car, you could do with some help on installing the weaponry on board. Then again, that does cut into your free time...
> Schedule a driving lesson with Emily?
> Y/N

Finally... There was the book club. Overall, not entirely sure on that one. Technically, it was against regulations to partake in that sort of stuff, but it's not like anyone enforced it... Also, they were good people and the book was, honestly, not as bad as you'd think.

After making your arrangements with the girls, you looked the book club invitation a bit, and wondered if you should or shouldn't partake. Damned if the Discipline Master wouldn't have your ass if he heard about this, but what he doesn't know, cannot hurt him.

After all, Deborah and her husband did end up helping you out. It's only fair to repay that in some small measure, even if it meant heading to one of these book club meetings, no matter how weird it might end up being.

Not really, there's a massive jump in earnings when you go from middle-class hotels to an upper middle-class.

Guess you could take like a shittier room in the upper class hotel, or a better one in the middle class one and play with the prices a little bit there, but it would still be within like

1000 range for the better middle-class room and 4000 for the shittier upper class room.
The upper hive stuff is kinda priced out of affordability of the plebs.

No because this world runs on a stratified, control economy, not on a free market society.

Upper middle class and middle class pretty much fall on the same bracket, as in, it needs to be affordable to someone who makes 20-30k a year.

Meanwhile the lower upper hive people tend to make around 50-100k+ a year, going all the way to the people who make millions to the governor who makes trillions.

> Penthouse boys

[ 1/2 ]

After making quick reservations, and throwing some money at the problem, you relocated to your new accommodations for the week, sampling some dishes as you went through your nightly reading in a relaxed, opulent atmosphere.

Come morning, you received a message from your date.
> + [ When can you meet up? ] + /Sandy.R
> + [ I'm free till the evening. You wanna catch lunch? ] + /Aren.S
> + [ Mom's doing some community stuff. Can you pick me up in 50 minutes from then grocer? She won't notice. ] + /Sandy.R
> + [ Yea, sure. ] + Aren.S

Soon as you arrived, she rushed into the back of your car and started stretching, lounging and exploring the fridge as you drove away towards the upper hive.
"Good morning, sleep well?"
"Mmm... better than on the train."
She says, with somewhat tired eyes.
"So, where are we going?"
"Upper hive, I found us a good place."

You had elected to pamper yourself and your lady friend, going for a proper penthouse suite in the upper hive, with all the bells and whistles. An opulent palace of a spire situated within the upper hive. At the very top of this spire laid one of the many penthouse rooms, normally reserved for high-ranking executives during peacetime, but for now, they, laid mostly vacant.

"I see somebody's trying to impress me..." She purred, holding to your arm, pushing your body against yours as you entered the vast, marble lounge and headed to the elevator.
"I should hope it is working." You quipped as you hit the button for the penthouse level, watching the view of the city as you were lifted to the skies.
"Heheee... Yes, it is." She replied, caressing your buttocks through your uniform as she gave you a whimsical smirk to you as she pulled out her communicator.
"First picture! Look handsome!"
With the vista on the background, she took a picture of you in each other's arms, her dainty frame in contrast to your considerable bulk.

The interior of the suite was quite cavernous, the minibar was not quite so mini, and you had full access to a private pool, a jacuzzi for personal use and a tremendous vista overlooking the mountain range which the hive was built above. The steep price also came with exotic meals hand-crafted by some of the best chefs on the planet and many other perks.

Upon entering your temporary domicile, your lady escort started immediately exploring the lavish accommodations you were afforded.
"You've got everything in here!"
"Best hotel in the city, or so I'm told, and one of the best rooms. When you make a lot of money on a dangerous job, might as well spend it."
"Hehe. Well, I'm not complaining."
She then starts filming you with her communicator.
"What are you doing?"
"Making memories. This here's Aren Seion, just back from capturing a bunch of rebel leaders, say hi!"
"Hello"
"And this... Is the room he booked out for us!"
She narrates as she goes through all the rooms with her communicator.

Whilst she was doing her little exploration of your fancy suite, you took the opportunity to order up some fine cuisine.

After a short while, she showed up again, coming back from the bathroom with a very mischievous look on her face and a towel on her shoulder.
"I believe there was some mention of a massage?"
"Oh, you wanna go?"
"Yuss!"
"One moment then."

You lit up the candles in the bathroom, dimmed the lights and put some ambient music on the background to create a relaxing atmosphere here was a proper massage table in there ready, and yes, a there was the massage service available, but this was something clearly requiring personal touch.

"Alright, it's ready."
The door creaked open as your customer entered, giving a sly look whilst wearing nothing but a towel, slowly moving to the table, lying belly down with her back towards you.
"I'm waiting..."

She yelped as you poured the oil on her back, and...

Your fingers moved, pushed and prodded, rubbed and caressed with gentle, yet firm force. As someone with plenty of experience in human musculature, you instinctively knew how to loosen up where.

She moaned and sighed underneath your thick bulbous arms which forcefully pushed out all the tension out of her body, leaving her naked form oily and limp on the table, enjoying the afterglow for a moment after you concluded your work.

"Haaaah... That was great~"
She spoke, her head still facing down.
"I ordered some food, if you'd care for some more pampering."
"Mmmm... I don't want to get up. Carry me."
She complained as she lazed on the table, face down.
"Hmm... Alright then."
You picked up the naked girl like a sack of potatoes, hoisting her over your shoulder like a some sort of barbaric reaver, keeping a tight grip on her feet.
"Eek! You brute!"
She protested as you took her lower body firmly under your control, throwing a bathrobe at her face in response of her objections, before promptly you depositing her to the living room.

Thee girl had draped herself in robes and entered full on lounging mode as she hogged th whole couch and took video footage with her phone whilst you fetched the cart provided by room service.

"What are you recording me for? It's just food."
"Mmm.... It's for the next bit."
"And what's the next bit exactly?"
"You promised me a dance, didn't you?"
"You want to dance now?"
"Nooo... It's you who will be dancing...~ I can't be the only one naked here, now can I?"
"So that's why you wanted me to wear the uniform."
"Hehehe... Come on boytoy, put on some music and dance for the lady, won't you?"
She was getting way too much mileage out of this service, still, it's not like the food couldn't wait. You set the lights and prepared found put on some fitting music on the background as you flicked on your aviators and got ready to put on a show, well best you could anyway.

If she wanted a show, a show you would provide.
The music hit the room, you turned with a cocksure and arrogant attitude of a conqueror of worlds, chiseled by battle and countless physical drills into aesthetic perfection.

Though far from being a professional, you certainly had the talent for this sort of stuff. Strutting around arrogantly, imperiously invading the physical space of your audience, never removing a garment save when she had a full view of your body, but nevertheless frequently making sure to tease her for a while before pulling back.

You could feel her gaze intensify with every passing moment as your topless form worked the dance floor, slowly, bit by bit, vexing her as you took your time, both for your pleasure and her annoyance, always maintaining a cocksure smirk behind your aviators as you inched towards the final act.

As you reached for your belt, she began to squirm on the couch. Eagerly watching where this was going. You turned around, not showing her what she wanted to see, purely out of malice. Making sure she'd need to patiently wait for every bit of ground you were willing to give.

With your belt off, you approached her in your rhythmic and suggestive moves, working your lower body in front of her, as if taunting her. As she reached out to touch, you pushed her hand away and wagged your finger at her before backing away, only to finally move towards the finale.

Your remaining bulbousness showing through, what already wasn't visible. She was clearly getting impatient as you had been keeping her hanging for a while, until finally, at the end of the song, it all came off, almost perfectly timed as she excitedly began kicking her feet in the couch.

"That. was. PERFECT!"
She exclaims, clearly satisfied with your performance.
"So, ready for the next step?"
"Oh yes~ absolutely..."
She says, putting her phone down and wiggling herself on then couch before practically leaping on you as you were about to offer her some food, just to tease her a bit more.

Always quick on the uptake when it came to melee, you caught her easily, the size difference after all wasn't something so easily overcome. If you could wrestle down an augmented warrior, you could certainly handle a short girl like her, regardless of how hard she grappled, even with the element of surprise, a mountain of muscle like you would easily come out on top.

In a heat of animalistic passion, the battle took to the nearest vertical surface and the food was forgotten. The raging fires of conflict once again erupted.
Of course, the Imperial Army would show little mercy when attacked unprovoked during a diplomatic summit.

After a brief spout of intense 1v1 melee combat, one of you was once again stood triumohant as the other was exhausted after being manhandled all over the suite on most vertical surfaces and occasionally done in mid-carry.

With the after-action cuddles done, you had moved on to enjoying the opulent luxury you had paid for by taking a quick dip in the jacuzzi, enjoying some absolutely decadent food in the middle of opulence. Having money was pretty great.

"Nnnnnhh.... I want every day to be like this~"
Your teenage lover purred as she hogged as much space as she possibly could while stretching her legs, floating naked on the warm water.
"Big city, opulent luxury, lovemaking till my legs fail... I love it when you spoil me. You're so perfect..."
"I aim to please."
She sighs with extreme contentedness
"I'm sooo perfectly relaxed... It's always so annoying back home."
"Oh? How so?"
"Well, there's always this constant disapproval, like I'm not valued at all. Bitter old women complaining when I just want to have fun, mom pushing me towards doing this and that, always being compared to Em and Joy..."
"Hmm."
"Mhm~ Now everything is moving so fast it makes me dizzy."
"Could be the amasec you drank."
"Yeah..."
She smiles mischievously in response as she continues to float lazily on the jacuzzi
"I don't know what to do with this school thing."
"You sure you want to go there?"
"Oh absolutely, yes. Fuck working with the village bitches on some dirty manufactorum floor. Anything but that."
"So... the problem is what, then?"
"I don't know what I want to be, or if I even want to be anything. They always ask you 'well, what do you want to do?' and I'm like, 'shut up idiot, nobody really likes their job', you know what I mean?"
"Eh, kinda. I mean, I do like my job, but it's only because I'm good at it."
"Like, if you loved your job so much, you wouldn't ask for a week off or anything like that, right? There's more to your life than work, right? If you were asked, what do you like, that's the stuff you do on your free time that comes to mind, isn't it?"
"I guess so, but you still got to make a choice."
"I know, I know..."
She replies sullenly, retreating to a corner and hugging her knees
"What do you think I should study?"
"Girl, we've known each other for how long exactly? How in depth answer could I possibly give?"
"Any answer would be good... You've been around the galaxy, I just want an honest, easy to understand answer for a change..."

Man, that's a hard one. If she was a guy, you'd just tell her to join the army because at least then she'd have some direction. How do you deal with a directionless young woman?

"I mean, what do you look in a job?"
"How are you supposed to know what sort of job you want to do, when you've just done chores around the house?"
"Are you good at something? Any specific skillsets?"
"Urgh..." She replied frustrated
"No hobbies?"
"I'm not a horse enthusiast like Em or a social butterfly like Joy is! I'm just me! Isn't that good enough?!"
"So, no on the hobbies...?"
She just grumbles in her corner, upset. Welp, guess that's no on the hobbies.
"I don't know, guess I do some fitness exercises and watch movies and stuff, but it's because I don't like fat people or being bored. It's not like I want to be an actor or join a circus or anything."
Man, she's a bit difficult, but yea, fuck the fatties.
"So how do you spend your free time then?"
"With girlfriends or boyfriends? It's FREE time, I'm allowed to spend it FREELY! I don't want to pick up some hobby everyone pretends to like just because they're lonely and can't find friends normally. If I have to do something, don't beat around the bush and pretend like I had a choice if you're going to complain about it afterwards! Urgh!!!"
"Woah. Where'd that come from?"
"Sorry... It's just, there's always this constant guilt-tripping the old hags like to do, with the disapproving, venomous glares and everything whenever I do what I want to do..."
"You seem to value your free time quite a lot."
"Mmnnn.... yes. I guess I do."
She replies, starting to slowly relax again as she begins to luxuriate herself on the surrounding opulence as bubbles wash over her naked body.
"And you view transparency as an important quality."
"Mhm....~"
"You don't seem to mind putting in the work, at least when it comes to maintaining your figure."
"Keep complimenting me~"
"You value your friends more than approval of strangers."
"Mmyes..."

Values her friends, prefers when people are up-front and transparent, not many life skills, is an animal in bed, occasionally watches movies and maintains basic fitness... Yea, it's very open, there's no easy answer to what she should be.

Social worker probably don’t exist period, and asking her to be a therapist when Chaos is just around the corner is quite cruel.

>>4908436
Kids, we don’t know yet what they’ll have but they’ll probably inherit some stuff from us.
>>
>>4908451
Inherit some stuff when? When we die, which we can't do? And as far as I'm aware it's not at all guaranteed that the child of a perpetual will also be a perpetual, in which case we'll outlive them anyway.
>>
what need does an immortal being have for progeny?
>>
>>4908461
No, inherit some of our abilities, they definitely won’t be perpetual, but they may inherit some of our capacity to resist mutations, or resist chaos, or regeneration, or stamina etc.
It may not seem like much, but if it stay true from generation to generation, even if they inherit only a fraction of it,10 000 years down the line that would definitely be a massive boon to the Imperium.

Also, fuck the captcha

>>
>>4908400
Err... Imperium probably doesn't have much in the form of mental health programs and such, seeing that the same technology that's used to make cogitators and servitors can just be used to rewire your brain to not feel sad anymore and there's plenty of ways to medicate your problems away.
Worst case scenario, there's always mind wiping.

For a biologis, mental health issue is generally speaking just a health issue as a lot of these atheistic scientifically minded people and mechanicum as well tend to pretty much see human body as a machine anyway.
Anything like a therapist would probably have to exist on an organizational, planetary basis or as a private enterprise since they by no means wouldn't be something you'd normally find.
Hell, I'd be tempted to make you roll Common lore: Imperium to see if you know what the word therapist even means.

Of course, if we're talking strictly about behavioral psychology, that's more in line with propagandists, but they're extremely duplicitous people by nature.
>>
>>4908490
I was thinking of some private therapist or some social type of work.

Idk what about advertisement and marketing?
>>
>>4908490
lies and slander.

Propagandists are merely creative artists! Our right to liberty of artistic licence shall not be encroached upon!

That being said, I think a personal trainer makes best of her situation if she is willing to work towards it. Beauty plus knowledge plus effort makes for a really good professional chance.
>>
If we're planning to take her with us, we should probably have her learn some useful skills that lets her make money using our vast amounts of capital.

Is there like, a barter or merchant training or something? If she can remain on the green for few percent per year while managing our finances, that's still over a hundred grand we'd be making.
>>
>>4908507
Err... Well, that'd be based largely on how well she rolls I guess if you guys wanted to go for that.
>>
Let's face it she can offer precisely nothing besides kids, which we can have with anyone at any time but are going to be a burden on a spaceship in the middle of a war.

It seems like honesty and the appreciation of company would leave her suited for middle management positions. She seemingly is able to get the hang of basic Imperial tech quickly as well. I would suggest she get herself into a logistics branch of the Imperial Army and go through there or try her hand at the private market in a similar position. Presuming that honesty carries over to her job she should be a good asset as well as make a decent buck.

This is why she needs the education though. I don't see much value in marrying her as is.

If say after 2-3 years of studies she starts becoming good enough to actually entrust with funds, she might be worth investing into.

If she doesn't show talent, we can always just not give her any money to invest and keep her as a side lay or whatever.

> How about tech?

[ 1/2 ]

"Hmmm... how about tech? You know? Trying your hand with machines and such?"
"Um... where did that come from?"
"Well, I mean, you seemed to figure out how to use the communicator reasonably quickly."
"I guess, but it's not like I know how it works or anything..."
"Hey, I never held a gun before joining the army, and at least there's plenty of job security even for lower rungs as well as upwards mobility if you actually get really into it."

She takes a moment to consider before crawling to your armpit.
"I guess the machine stuff is pretty neat in a way, but isn't that more a man's job?"
"Eh... Only if we're talking about installing recast plasteel parts weighing several tons to replace the broken ones, that's more a man's job. Light maintenance stuff was often done by women as well back on my planet, of course if you're receiving a higher grade education, you could aim much higher than checking lubricant and coolant levels, but you know, the higher the position, the higher the stress."
"Mm... If you keep pampering me like this, I don't think the stress will be an issue."
You pull her on to your lap and hug her with your chin in her shoulder, rigid manhood between her thighs and hands fondling her wherever.
"If you get tired of the planet, there's always need for technicians among settlers and warfleets as well."
"Umm... I don't I'm ready for another round..."
She states, weakly
"That's a shame."
You reply, running your fingers up and down her thighs, not letting go of her.
"Um. I think the machine stuff sounds good, yea. I'll look into it."
"Good..." You spoke softly to her ear.
"Um. Um... Okay, just a quick one... but..."
As you started to lift her from the jacuzzi, she exclaimed
"Wait. I want to try something."
"Mmm...?"
"I want to get something from the bar first!"
Taking her away in a princess carry, you brought her to the bar area with plenty of amasec to choose from, as well as lho-cigars. She grabbed a fancy bottle, as well as the thickest looking cigar, trying to light it.
"That's not how that works. You got to cut the cap."
"O-oh. I knew that." She said as she picked the cutter from the box.
"Didn't know you were a smoker."
She then begins coughing at the first puff, revealing she clearly isn't.
"All the rich people smoke these, I just wanted to try it once."
"Hmm... So, happy now?"
"Hold on." She says, grabbing the amasec bottle and downing several gulps.
"Now you." She says, offering up the cigar and the amasec bottle.
"I'm driving." You reply
"I don't care, let's do it." She insists

You took few puffs of the cigar, feeling a wave of relaxation and a heightened sense of euphoria as you followed it with a few gulps from the bottle she's offering you.

Time seemed to slow as you began touching each other slowly, soon melding on the floor into a harmoniously pulsating mass of flesh for a solid hour until finally cleaning yourselves up from the sticky aftermath of alcohol and lho-fueled lovemaking.

You now knew why Lho-sticks were so in-demand across the galaxy. It made sex amazing. The two of you also began to take some outrageous photos of each other engaged in various acts of consensual debauchery, leading both of you in possession of a veritable folder of nudes and sex clips produced in the evening.

Luckily, the buzz began to fade away relatively soon, meaning you were fit to drive (you think), so you dropped the girl off by a hairdresser before heading off, but not before receiving a sloppy, passionate kiss with her tongue being shoved as deep in your mouth as it went.

"I'll see you around, soldier boy..."
In hindsight, she really did need a hairdresser after the relentless grappling.

You spent the evening and night in study, as it was during yesterday...

Come morning, you checked your messages.
> + [ Hey! What time can you pick me up? ] + /Joy.R
> + [ Midday fine? ] + /Aren.S

Two-timing, is this really going to work? Just jumping from one girl to the next? You've heard of people like this before, but you never did imagine yourself ever becoming one of them.

Sandy was great, far as sex was concerned, at least. It could become something more, but you weren't entirely sure it should. Of course, there's only so many times you can have casual sex till you start to get to know each other.

Well, it's not like you have to go all the way, do you? Not unless you wanted to. Truth be told, it is kind of hot when you think about it, boinking two sisters that is. Well, there's one thing worrying you a bit.

> + [ Hope you have fun today >:) ] + /Sandy.R

What did she mean by this? Well, regardless, after enjoying an extraordinarily opulent meal, you headed off to pick up your date from once again a bit of a discrete location.

"Hi! Great to see you again!"
She said you pulled over to her.
"I'm so glad you accepted to go out with me! We haven't really had a good chance to talk before or anything."
She fussed on her seat, clearly having dolled herself up for the occasion
"Sure. So, any movies in specific you wanted to watch?"
"I was just thinking of picking something good on the spot, you know, live a little and all. Oh, I'm fine with watching whatever you want to watch though, if you had something in mind. I'm open to anything."
"Well, I don't know what they run in the theaters here, so we'll see."
As you said that, your communicator started vibrating. Though you probably shouldn't have, you checked the device on the wheel, noticing a certain lady had elected to send you a message.

> Tell your date her sister is sending you nudes

"...Your sister sending me nude pictures."
"I thought you said on the news that a gentleman doesn't kiss and tell."
"Never said I was a gentleman."
"So if you had pictures of me, would you tell anyone who asked?"
Damn, she's got you there.
"Err..."
"Let's just drop the subject, shall we?"
"Yes. Let's."
Man, for a date, this all got off on a really bad footing. The two of you sort of awkwardly drive to the theater, not talking to each other. No flirting, no nothing, she just spent the drive flicking through her communicator.

As you made it to the parking lot, your communicator vibrated once again. Another message from certain someone.
> + [ Why would you show our pictures to Joy?! You absolute dick! ] + /Sandy.R
> + [ I didn't show anything, she asked what the message was and I told her? ] + /Aren.S
> + [ She JUST messaged me. Are you trying to make me look like a whore?!? WHY?!? THOSE WERE PRIVATE! ] + /Sandy.R

You took a glance at the sister who was looking at your face, extremely amused as you were rushing to write a reply to her.
"You know it's quite rude to be talking to other girls in middle of a date."
"Did you just...?"
"Tell Sandy how our date was going? She asked, and I figured honesty was best policy. After all, why would I keep secrets from my sisters?"
She giggled as Sandy was berating you on the phone for being so fragging tactless.

> Failure

Try as you might to placate your lover, she's not having any of it. Clearly there was a violation of trust that happened here which could not be so easily mended.

> + [ You know what? Go ahead. Enjoy your little date with my sister while making me look like shit. Maybe I'll go public with our affair as well and show mom and dad what we've been doing in vivid detail. ] + /Sandy.R
> + [ Come on Sandy, let's not ruin this... ] + /Aren.S
> + [ Stop messaging me. ] + /Sandy.R

"Umm... Thrilling as it is to watch you write messages to my younger sister, we've got a date planned..."
"Sorry, but Sandy is super pissed right now, trying to do damage control."
"Well, I imagine she would be. You need to treat her with more respect, even if it's just a casual fling."
"You could have neglected to message her..."
"And you could have neglected to tell me you were looking at naked pictures of other women while we were on a date, however, it's not like this is unsalvageable..."
"What do you mean?"
“Hmmm... I wonder if I should tell. Tell you what, you show me a really good time today, and I'll help you patch things up with Sandy."
You gave her a somewhat dubious look
"You'd do that?"
"Of course I would! I'm a good girl, and why wouldn't I want my sister to be happy? That is, provided I'm convinced you're a good man, and not a total sleazebag once the evening is done."
"No pressure, huh?"
She sighs and looks you straight into your eyes
"I wouldn't have asked you on a date if I did not find you attractive. You can always try things out without my help, but I think you'll come to like me once we spend some time together. All I'm asking is that you'll forget about Sandy for a while and focus on me for a few hours... Or more, if things work out that way..."

She really grabbed you by the nuts, but the question is, do you actually want to go through with this? Things were kind of simpler when it was just sex with Sandy, this kind of throws a wrench into the whole dynamic. Of course, trying to win her back on your own was another challenge on its own right..

> Agree to Joy's proposal and try your best to show her a good time.

Seems very out of left field.

> Agree to Joy's proposal and try your best to show her a good time.

Also, rather get to the heretic purging soon.
>>
Call off the date

It is obvious that she is going to manipulate this for her own ends, after all, sandy told us that her sister had seen her nudes, when we most definitely didn't do that. Also think it was a dick move from our side, true, but her telling her sister and then pressuring us to make her happy? That's an even greater dick move, qhich could also lead to her blackmailing us later on, if what she wants out of the date is "taboo" or she gets hold of some damning pictures of us.
>>
>>4911312
Also weird for her to dump on her sister like that and then turn around and say she likes to see her happy. Not saying it isn't Aren's doing but this seems petty and without a purpose.
>>
>>4911303
> Agree to Joy's proposal and try your best to show her a good time.
Harem route it is.
>>
>>4911312
You guys voted to extend this whole thing by a whole lot. Firstly by choosing every encounter and then shooting yourself on the foot.
>>
>>4911314
To quote >>4910318
She had, "No reason not to be honest “
>>
>>4911369
Yeah, but still a bit of a dick move to outright state that your getting nudes from her sister while you are on a date with her. We could have said it more elegantly, like "i am reciving pictures from your sister, since we have a bit of a thing going, just to let you know, since i trust you won't share it with others", but alas, it is not to be.

Still doesn't change that what she did by tattling and lying to her sister is a massive dick move, with her pressuring us to please her just being the soggy stinking shit berry on top of a icecream of pure and absolute assholeishness.

>>
>>4911451
Oh i agree, she definitely cares about her sister, to a degree, she simply chose to show it in the most hurtful and malevolent way possible. Hell, the way it is written, it seems she even likes to cause this unneded pain and confusion between us and her sister, since she smiles in amusement at us trying to talk things out with Sandy.
>>
>>4911461
That's one way to read it I suppose.
>>
>>4911435
Easily.

>>4911369
That's right. Honesty being best policy, usually. However messy things tend to get.

>>4911386
Tact probably should have been employed. Future self noted.

That said, we said we'd go on a date, this situation is salvagable and Sandy needs time to cool off. Unless this is one of those retarded mindgames I always fail which say you are meant to do the opposite of what is both asked and reasonable for you to do.
I'm not entirely scared of her threats being carried out, nor am I intimidated by the consequences. Embarrassment will die, bad press fades and the war goes on. Still, it'd be nice to fix up the issue.
>>
>>4911386
Give some credit where it is due. The condition is "Don't appear to be a sleazeball by the end of this" in response to "blabbing about getting nudes from my sister"
>>
>>4911491
Yeah, i understand fully that telling the girl you are dating, that you are getting naked photos from her sister, is a bad idea. I am just disappointed in our actions (as we could have said it better and affirmed that we are only saying it to her because we trust her) and the actions of the sister (as she could of just plainly told us that what we did was not ok, instead of putting us in a situation where we are fucked, no matter what we do).
>>
>>4911487
I don't think Imperium is the right place for you if you are looking for honesty and transparency.
In few millennia its gonna be more: "Long tongue results in a short life." sort of thing than "We are bringers of truth."

Also, if you wanted to seduce a woman, why would you tell her the truth?

>>
>>4911484
To be fair, i have not had a good relationship with women who have acted in this same kind of way (ie. causing a bad situation to happen which only they have the solution too), so that is definitely colouring my view on what is happening, but still, she could have handled the situation way better, while also not needing to lie about what we did.

> MR. BONES WILD RIDE

You let out an exasperated sigh.
"Fine, I suppose we'll try... Whatever this is."
"Great!" She clasps her hands excitedly
"Though, I'd appreciate a bit more enthusiasm..."
"Yea, sure. Just thought this was going to be a more an open relationship thing, and not, you know, me being socially blackmailed."
"Well, it's not like I planned for this either, but Sandy was bugging me with messages, so decided to fire back, and you were gracious enough to provide me with the perfect ammunition."
Oof
"What did you exactly tell her?"
"Hmmm... Just that you were just telling me about the nudes of her that you had on your phone. Well, more or less. I was intentionally vague."
"You'll set things right after the date, though?"
"Eh, as I said, maybe, that is if we get along, and I like you enough."
"The fact that I got you expensive communicators counts for nothing?"
"Oh, of course it does! As does the fact that you helped us out with the marauders and, well, the other impressive things you have going on."
"You have a really weird way of showing it."
"Hmmm... I prefer to think myself as a woman of action. I do like you, you know, so there is no need to be so apprehensive. We've still a date ahead of us!"
She proclaimed happily as you still remained somewhat reluctant
"Mmm... So, movies?"
"Hmmm... You know, since we went so far off script, why don't we go dancing instead?"
"Err... Hate to break it to you, but I'm not much of a dancer."
"Really? That's fine, I'd be more than happy to teach you! And it will be a good opportunity for us to get to know each other better. Actually, I already figured a place I thought might be nice in case we'd go somewhere after movies..."
"...You prepared that far?"
"Of course I would! I'm a very meticulous person, you know."
"Hmm... Just tell me where to drive."
She rapidly produces a small map from her purse, reading directions off of it as she guided you to a somewhat small and homey looking little bar/restaurant with a dance floor and slow music on the background with plenty of couples dancing there in each other's arms, a few of them were soldiers with their loved ones.

"I adore these sorts of places. The music, the slow and safe atmosphere, the down-to-earth sort of wholesome enjoyment..."
"Well, I could certainly see myself grabbing a few drinks on a place like this to get away from everything."
"I'll go get us some drinks."
She stated as you took a nice corner table for the two of you.

> 2 Degrees of success

Though the beginning was a bit awkward initially, things moved onward with their own weight. Maybe it was the drinks or the atmosphere, but you managed to relax after a while, returning to your usual composure with some small talk.

"...So, how's things been since you got settled in?"
"Oh, quite well. I've applied to become a study the Lex Imperialis and they've sent me some preliminary materials to review before a basic aptitude test."
"The Imperial Law? Not local law?"
"Well, it's mostly preliminary study to get into politics. See, considering dad is basically a head of veteran volunteers and because Vangrippes tend to hire based on Loyalty, I was thinking maybe if I do well enough, they'll scout me to be in the civil service."
"Very ambitious, any particular reason why you're interested in that?"
"You can rule your fate or be ruled by it."
"That's from the Imperial Truth."
"I do a lot of reading. The book club stuff too! You know they're not exactly mutually exclusive when you read it carefully? It all depends on how you interpret the words."
"What about the whole stuff about Emperor being a god against mankind not needing gods?"
"Depends on how one defines the word. He does hold godlike power, much better than the petty spirits who barely held together continents in fact. I actually did the math once and the scale is of the crusade is absolutely ridiculous. Thousands of stars fall EVERY HOUR under Imperial rule while the crusade keeps going on."
"Mmmnn... When you think of it like that, 200 years isn't that long time to conquer most of the galaxy, but isn't that mostly explained by compounding gains? I think I heard the Arithmetic of it explained on some documentary at some point on how if Imperium expanded by a hypothetical rate of 12% every year, we'd be in control of the galaxy before we hit 400 years."
"Sure, but the point is when you can reduce the old gods and superstitions to a mere statistic which you can just erase from history by fumbling some numbers around without even needing to know their names, aren't you at that point greater than they are? Well, that's at least my perspective on the matter."
"That's... not that different from the Imperial Truth perspective."
"As I said, not mutually exclusive when you get to the nitty and gritty of it. Anyway, I find you coming back from the dead and healing wounds magically sort of reinforces my perspective too. If the Imperium can just disregard death like that, doesn't that mean pretty much all boxes are being ticked in regards to godlike power?"
"Ah... so you heard about that."
"Well, I was curious about you, so I sought out what others knew. The book club's been pretty interested in you, so it wasn't that hard to find out what they knew. Also found out about the whole gym thing you did back home, very impressive, if I might add."
"Err... thanks, I guess."
"I have to ask, besides the healing and not suffering from muscle fatigue, have other powers manifested?"

I was originally planning on sitting out on this until we could get back to actually being Solar Auxilia, but it seems like the collective retardation in this thread is starting to overflow with people unironically picking the objectively worst choices when presented. Seeing as there are people that somehow think it's a good idea to once again bring up that we're having sex with Joy's sister while we're on a date with her after the last time backfired horribly, I'll have to come in here and vote against this obvious nose dive crash of a choice.

> No slep, no ate

"Well, there's a couple of things, as I no longer need to eat, drink or sleep. I can if I want to, it's just that unless I've got a comfortable bed or good food, I really don't even bother with it anymore."
"Interesting... So, you've been awake for… How long now?”
“Almost two weeks, had a bit of a nap in the barracks, but that was mostly because I didn't have my dataslate to kill time with. Didn't sleep or eat during the mission at all, which is kind of how I pulled it off."
"Wow... So, you heal from grievous wounds, don't have muscle fatigue, don't need to sleep, don't need to eat and don't need to drink... Isn't that kind of like how Space Marines do?"
"I don't think Marines recover from losing their heads and being embalmed. I mean, if they did, where do their casualty figures come from?"
"That's true... Still, you've been given the power to be the perfect soldier! It's kind of like in old myths, there's always stories about individuals who happen to have some special powers. Always thought they were just hogwash or stories about psykers, but now not so sure."
"Oh yea, they had a weird Astropath check me. Apparently, there is not much going on in there on that department, so no worry about being a psyker."
"I take it since they tested you, this isn't something that happens commonly?"
"Eh... There's a million and one exaggerated stories about some guardsmen as being so tough they could eat gravel and shit bricks and how the only way to kill them is decapitation or stake through the heart and so on..."
"So there could be others like you?"
"...maybe, but honestly, I feel it subtracts from the story if the only reason they succeed was because they had powers rather than through their inner strength, grit and determination."
"You mean like in Love and Regicide series where everybody important was always like related to some royalty or something? I always found that sort of writing off-putting and SO contrived."
"Err... I'm from space, so we don't get that show."
"Oh, that's right! You wouldn't... You get what I mean though, the trope I mean?"
"Somewhat."

There was an awkward moment of silence followed before the song changed on the background.
"Ooh! That's our cue! Come, come come, I'll teach you to dance."
She grabbed your hand and began to pull you off your seat as you began to rise reluctantly. As you were on your feet, right in front of her, you noticed the size difference between the two of you.
Though taller than her sister, you still stood nearly a head taller than she did.
"Oh, what the heck..."

She led you to the dance floor and guided your left hand to her waist, taking your right hand.
"So, it goes like this. Step forwards with Left foot, then Right foot, Left foot, Right foot and close with the Left, and we go from there."

The two of you spin and sway about the room to the music, back and forth, slowly and carefully, with you taking the lead. This sort of custom did not exist on your home world of... Walking around the room by the rhythm of the music, but there was something instinctual that seemed you to grasp the jist of it.

Intimacy, willingness to lower one's defenses for someone you barely knew, to just be in the moment and go with the flow. If Sandy was passion and heat, Joy preferred it slow and bittersweet natural flow.

"You're very confident in your step."
"My father liked to say nervousness is selfishness."
"I could not agree more."
She replied with a smirk, wrapping her hands around you as you swayed by the music.
"I see you're very well-built."
"You are not too bad yourself."
You replied as she pulled back to a spin.
"So, what do you think?"
She asked as she returned to your embrace.
"A peculiar custom, though I can see a certain appeal."
Step-step-step-turn
"Was thinking of something else."
"Hmmmnnn? Now what could that be?"
"Come on, be honest, do you think I have a shot here?"
"Well, I haven't walked off yet."
She smiles mischievously as the song reaches its end.
"Another dance? Or..." She asked somewhat unsure
"Or... What?" You replied with your merc swagger
"...Drinks?" She continued, eyeing towards the bar
Hmmm...
"Don't mind if I do."
She then pulled you by the hand off the dance floor, planting you back to your seat as she went to grab something by the bar, bringing the both of you a strange blue beverage.
"Always wanted to try these with someone."
"What is it?"
"Turcherro juice, synthcream, artificial flavorings, a dash of hard amasec and a silly straw. They ALWAYS drink these on the city dramas, but never served them back home."
Taking your drink, you look at it for a moment, a dubious, thick and sweet-smelling concoction. Giving a sip, it had an empowering aroma which stuck to your throat, leaving a non-burning sensation with all the smell of the fruity alcohol wafting up your throat and nostrils.

After taking the first sip, she somewhat nervously sat next to you, rather than opposite of you.
"This is fine, right?"
She said as she began leaning on you.
Not saying anything, the two of you just sat there, sampling cocktails as she slowly crept under your armpit.

These option names are getting more and more esoteric.
Though I appreciate the implied pun about platonic ideals.

>Spend the rest of the date making small talk and trying peculiar drinks. "So then Joy, Am I a sleezeball or just incredibly stupid?"
Gotta keep the charm up. Be a bit more subtle and at least wait until we've left the establishment to ask. Ruining the good cheer here would seem quite rude.

Though I have to say, this incessant paranoia and seemingly ignoring our own contirbutions to a fuck up is starting to get irritating.

To steer onto a less irritating subject, The imperial cult and it's faith in the emperor.

Now we have already read some of the lecto divinatus, but what is the general PLAYER consensus on it's benefits vs it's costs?

Personally I am more in favor of the "while I disagree with him being a god, I think he is worth the lip service."
Since it plants the seed in the character of being willing to actually grow devout, once the miracles and shit start rolling in. And of course the greater benefit, actually giving tangible protection from the forces of chaos later.

In regards to the actual cult, I'm seeing a benefit of "I'm willing to scratch your back if you scratch mine", helped along by paying lip service.
>>
>>4915332
The Emperor is a powerful being, but not a god. That is my view.
>>
>>4915335
So the benefit of the imperial faith is not outwieghing of it's cost in faith and orthadoxy?

And I take this moment to remind everyone that due to reading the divinatus and failing a WP roll, there is one [1] instance whereby we can be forced to act in the interest of the great crusade.
If everyone rememebers, it will prevent a lot of pissing and moaning when it comes up.
>>
>>4915344
The imperial faith is bogus yes.
>>
>>4915348
I'm not debating if it's bogus or not, since that doesn't especially matter in my opinion.

I was more evaluating it along the lines of how useful such a thing is. Because it's usefulness is immense against the forces of chaos in a way that the imperial truth plainly isn't.

> Platonic

"So, the date good enough for your standards?"
"Hmm... I suppose it is."
"You'll help me then?"
She removes herself from your armpit, giving you a last cursory look before moving away.
"I'll be honest, I don't think this thing is going to work out between us. I did try, but I just don't think the spark is there."
"I see. So... Where do we go from here then? "
"Look, just drive me home and I'll take the fall for your faux pass. I was going to do it anyway, since I do kind of owe you for the help back at the farm and the communicator, and for giving me a chance here. I think you're interesting and all, but the dynamic just doesn't work here."
You nod
"Yea, I was getting that vibe too. It's kind of getting a little too weird."

After finishing your drinks, you left the dance club, heading straight for the car. The ride back was somewhat awkward with her on the back seat, not saying anything as you took her by the hotel.

"Thanks for at least trying Aren, even if it didn't work out, but let's not do this again."
"Take care Joy."

You felt... weird driving back to the hotel. You think you had more than a good shot there, you just didn't feel like taking it. Things just did not flow naturally and that ended up bothering you.
Maybe you went there with false expectations, maybe you read her wrong, maybe you were just dancing to different tunes.
Maybe you just should not try to flirt with women involved in politics. It just doesn't seem like that works for you.

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful, you kicked back, relaxed, studied and enjoyed the opulent luxury of your hotel room alone. The next day, you had scheduled teaching Emily how to drive, and then had a meeting with the book club group the day after that.

Teaching her to drive sort of went uneventfully, things kind of got weird, she was trying to flirt a bit, sure, telling you how grateful she was of your help and everything, but after the train wreck of the date before and the tenuous relationship you still had with Sandy, you weren't exactly in the mood to push your luck further, so you kept things Platonic.

You drove her home, and that largely was it. That was, until you got a call from Sandy. You had a bit of time to think about what you wanted to do with this relationship, whether to mend it, call it off or maybe make it something more?

> Status quo - fail

[ 1/2?]

"You sure you don't want to go back the way we were? We had some good times."
"Look, I was fine with an open relationship. What I am not fine with is being second choice for you just because things didn't work out with my sister. Even I have some dignity."
"Isn't that what being casual is all about? No commitments?"
"No commitment doesn't mean you get to disrespect me. Joy may have given me more context, but if you wanted this to work between us, you should have been on my side and not thrown me under the bus just to impress another girl."
"So... That's it then? We're through?"
"I really liked you, but I've done this before. It just won't work. Not without mutual respect."
"I can do respect."
"But I can't. I just can't trust you, not anymore. We can be friends, but that's it."
"Right... Friends."
"No, I won't share the videos or pictures if you won't share yours."
"But you won't delete them either?"
"No, I won't. I won't risk another crazy ex without keeping some leverage. Goodbye Aren. I hope you won't die in the war."

As she hung up, you were left with a hollow feeling inside you. You had set out to try and do a relationship with two girls at once, but had been left with none. By overreaching, you had ruined a good thing.

> + You have been friendzoned by Sandy +

This whole event had a serious hit on your self-esteem, the frankly deranged bungling you did was more traumatizing than sitting under guerilla mortar fire. You aren't sure what came over you, but it will be a long time until you can talk normally to women again.

Not exactly great news since you had a meeting with a book club composed mostly of women the following day. Yea...
Still, you showed up, obligations are obligations, and promise is a promise, even if you are reluctant to deliver.

"Dear brothers and sisters..."

"We have many things to worry about, don't we? If we are parents, we worry about our children, how they are eating, how they are clothed, how they are behaving..."
"We strive to raise them and nurture them, that they won't suffer in adulthood."

"We have to pay our bills, many of us have a mortgage on an abandoned house. We have to ensure that we are working, that we have steady income, because not only do we have to eat, our families have to eat."

"And if we get sick, there has to be some way that medical attention can be paid for. Finding jobs that offer health insurance, and if not possible, to purchase that coverage."

"All of these worries abd concerns are every day when things are working fine. But we all know that life is not a bed of roses. There are many things that trouble us, many unforeseen circumstances. Many unexpected difficulties that just add to the list of worries and concerns."

"So many things occupy our minds, so many things fill our hearts with concern and anxiety."

"We live in a world that requires our constant attention."

"I tread the path of righteousness. Though it be paved with broken glass, I will walk it barefoot; though it cross rivers of fire, I will pass over them; though it wanders wide, the light of the Emperor guides my step."

"We should not worry about what we eat, what we put on."
"But nevertheless the bread that we eat doesn't get baked all by itself, the clothes on our backs, don't get sown all by themselves."
"We have to labor, we have to persevere. All these things we have to attend to, but they are not the goal of life."
"They become the goal of life, when that's all we think about."
"They become the goal of life when we spend our entire day on these things."
"They become the goal of life when obstructions prevent us from partaking on these earthly necessities and pleasures, and we become upset."
"They become the goal of life when... We forget about him."

"We are here in this life, not to pursue pleasure, but to learn lessons of humility, of patience, of trust and of faith."
"To each of us falls a task, and we must put our trust in that there is meaning in that task, even when we do not see it. To have faith than when all of us do our part, we will be not only delivered from hardship, but that we may deliver others from hardship."

The sermon kept going on for roughly 20 minutes. It was an unusual experience, as you had never partaken on a custom like this before, but you were fairly certain it was not standard to a book club. Might get lashed by the discipline master if he found out, but in all honesty, the message was one of reassurance.

Be loyal, work hard and believe it has an impact. Nice and simple in a well meaning way. Hard to honestly find anything wrong with it.

The person preaching, Sister Marie was apparently the wife of Reverend Michael, the priest fellow whom you had to thank for re-establishing contact with your unit.

After the sermon was concluded, you were approached by the preaching lady. She was a grim and scarred looking thing with an unsmiling face. She had the sort of look in her eyes as many broken veterans had. You knew not what she had seen, but she clearly had seen some shit in her days.

"So, you're the man who fell from the sky and came back from the dead, touched by some unexplained miracle. Tell me, are you a believer as well, or do you still wander in doubt?"
"I've barely scratched the surface of the book, so I can hardly give a conclusive opinion on the matter."
"A wanderer still. Nevertheless, you showing yourself helped lend credence to my sermon, these are duties normally performed by my husband, but as he is busy with war, they fall to me."
"I'll be heading off to war soon as well."
"Toil in Emperor's name is always blessed. If you are bereft of guidance or answers, all of them can be found in the Emperor's light... Alas, I cannot offer you much. Our men have already sworn their lives for the cause, and those who could not fight came here to do their part in other ways. All we have left to offer are our prayers."
"Errr... Yea, thanks?"
"If you'd like, I can offer you some guidance in interpreting the scripture, such as I was taught."

> You feel inspired!
> You gain +10 to the next skill test you make

https://youtu.be/bPSucVdsu6Y

The Lectitio Divinitatus touches something deep at the core of human nature, causing it to cultivate a sense of duty to foster unity within the Empire and to inspire men to transcend their limitations.

Through prayer and through meditation, a man may find himself discovering strength within him that he did not know he had, awakened by touching something primordial, ancient and intrinsic to the human condition, becoming something more whole than he was the day before.

Of course, to seek such guidance within scripture does take its own time and it is not always convenient to one's schedule. Nevertheless, as you received spiritual guidance, you felt your insecurities melt away, replaced by an absolute and clear focus.

Whether you believed or not, you clearly felt yourself become more as you studied the text, as if the world was more vibrant and you were more aware of everything after partaking in simple meditation as directed by the book.

> You may attempt to seek for spiritual inspiration once per day, provided you have an hour to read and the book at hand.

Speaking of skill tests, your vacation is over.
Welcome back to the service!

The very moment you went back on the clock, they started making you busy. No easing in, no nothing, just piling fuckloads of work on you and having an officer drag you to inquiries.

"Alright Sergeant Seion. We're not going to be bothering training you overmuch, in fact, we will give you only the most basic of the basics here, and then we will fly you straight to the front, and you'll learn on the job. Any questions?"
"Am I at liberty to know where I will be deployed?"
"To the south. We are currently undergoing a large-scale operation there, and we require every single drop trooper we can to join the fight ASAP."
"Thank you sir."
"Precise orders will be determined by regional command staff. Do not expect to be able to choose your missions anymore, it's do or die for all of us now."
"Understood sir."
He then hands you a folder.
"This folder contains such information as you are authorized to view on the situation down south. You are to burn it the moment you are done with it."
"Yes sir what sort of squad will I be working with?"
"We will define that here and now, this will be one of the last choices you get in terms of your deployment due to the crisis protocols, so make it count."
"Firstly, we are forming up tactical specialist drop squads. Everyone gets a plasma gun standard issue. This is to help deal with the recent escalation of the conflict."
"Secondly, we have melee assault drop squads. Everyone gets a power weapon and a plasma pistol as backup."
"Finally, we have the power armored shock infantry squads armed with heavy weapons."
"How long do I have to think about this?"
"Five minutes, or I will make the choice for you."
Sheesh, talk about rushing it.

>>
>>4920006
Well, having 100% mission success rate tends to help with that.
>>
Overall, there's also something to be said about people who live long in professions where most die young, so it's not as hard on your record as you think, especially since Imperium is still kind of a meritocracy.

Still, Power Armor is pretty damn prestigious since it's kind of an elite squad sort of thing.

Here's my reasoning. See, if our superior officers drop like flies, wouldn't there be plenty of vacancy?

Battlefield promotions fellas! The Lieutenant is down? Guess it's up to us. Oh dear, they got the captain? Such a shame, guess the command passes to us then. Oh no, we lost our commander? And there's nobody but us left to fill the shoes? How's the retirement package?

Meanwhile the Power Armored people are most likely to survive so we can't take their jobs.

While we're at it, when we finally improve our intelligence attribute and cybernetics skills, we should just make our own cybernetics, and have our squad mates sign legal documents that allow us to recover any implants they have should they meet an unfortunate demise.
>>
>>4920312
"Oh no! We lost the Lieutenant! Should we promote the guy with the elite squad or the guy who gets all his men killed every single time?"
If you think going Rambo will net you an officer promotion then we will end this bloody war right back at the start as a specialist and nothing to show for it. QM has already demonstrated his willingness to "reward" dumb behaviour. This is the harem route all over again.
>>
>>4919878

I want to keep the jetpack, develop a lasting love affair and get in on preserving its production for human regiments.
>>
>>4920793
First, that's the way melee goes. Live fast die young, whoo rah.
Second, field promotion aren't granted like official promotions they are "We need someone stepping up" and if we do well with it, we keep the job.
Third, Don't assume 100% casualties every time we go out because we haven't got power armour. Surprisingly enough, people die in war but a fair few also survive
>>
>>4920838
>Live fast die young, whoo rah.
This planet might not have much in the ways of cybernetics, but maybe we could get some decent combat stims to juice up our boys during deployment.
>>
>>4920838
Firstly, case in point.
Secondly, I am well aware how field promotions work. Are you aware that we will not be the only sarge out there?
Thirdly, need not be 100%. Even if we only lose 2/10 guys every deployment that shrinks our squad down fast due to the lack of additional manpower. Going for the PA heavies allows us to both build up a functional squad as well as get the best gear available (for some future shenanigans). Whats more, PA jetpacks are actually a thing.

I would personally get the PA and more advanced tech than try to yolo. Aren might not give a shit but the rest of the squad is minced meat in short order and at the end of the day we will be short on command XP and exciting tech to boot.

iirc PA did not give Unnatural Strength. We wont have to "carry" the PA but we will still not have reached to 90kg carry of the autocannon. We *can* however fire heavy weapons without bracing thanks to Bulging Biceps. Meaning we could casually hose down peeps with a heavy bolter.
>>
>>4920857
I am aware there are others, but that's all the more reason to excel.

And that losing manpower only matters if we exceed the standard rate of attrition for melee men. Otherwise it's standard practice that is accounted for and replaced

Regarding PA jump packs, I don't think those are standard issue for us and our standard weaponry is melee orineted while the shock troops are balistics oriented. Which is another point of contention.

>>4920866
Could have swore that Power armour gives you +20 to strength.
>>
>>4919900
>> Melee Assault squad
Being unable to die in the squad that's expected to get chewed up constantly is a recipe for success.

Also, not having to worry about burning to death means we can fire our plasma pistol on full charge constantly! (to the horror of the quatermaster who has to replace our gun all the time lol)
>>
>>4920889
It gives +20 strength, albeit that only bumps you to 78kg of encumbrance.

The Storm Autocannon weighs 90kg. You COULD bring it to an armorer and give him enough recaf and lho-sticks to get the weight reduced by 20%, but that also means that every time you use it in melee combat, there's 10% chance for it to be irreparably damaged.
+ The weapon would still weigh 72kg, leaving not a whole bunch of room for ammo.

Also it kind of fucks with the resale value of the gun, if you intend to make it an artifact.
>>
Plasma pistol only does weapon damage to your hand unless you drop it when it overheats. You can always keep it in your hand and laugh at the damage provided your regen is going strong enough.

Plasma Pistol does 1d10+6 with AP6 on normal shots and 2d10+6 AP8 when fired at overcharge, of course it can't be fired again next turn if you overcharge it.

Needless to say, you get really quick Plasma training or Heavy Weapons training based on whichever you pick to get you to the front with good gear.

Normally they would have reservations on doing hypno indoctrination again due to it affecting mental stability, but things sort of change when high command enacts crisis protocols.
>>
Anyway, today's update will be a bit later down the like as I have things to do and I woke up pretty late to do them.

> Power Armor

As you are quite possibly the youngest individual in this army's history to be given power armor, you start out with basic, relatively old model.

By utilizing sub-par components normally meant for the manufacture Mk3 Iron Armor, a Mk.II militant armor was born.
It is as loud and clumsy as the real thing, albeit not as well armored, nor as powerful, and missing several of the more advanced sensors existing in genuine marine armor, it is still a formidable piece of hardware.
It possesses basic datalink, rudimentary preysense sight and vox comms, but little else.

Manufacture of this particular pattern of armor has been discontinued long before you were born, but it stubbornly remains in service despite being overshadowed by the ever more advanced and heavily armored designs.

As these are still military issue, each of them comes with a fusion power pack which while it can be damaged, will provide enough power to last through your term of service and likely for the next one who gets to use it as well.

You notice this particular suit of armor has had many of its armor platings replaced very recently and the helmet is clearly not the original.

> It grants you Unnatural Strength of +20 and Unnatural Toughness of +10 while worn.
> It provides 9AP armor protection on every part of your body.
> - 20 agility tests due to poor manual dexterity
> - 20 to concealment and silent move
> + 20 fellowship with PDF and Army personnel
> Size is now hulking, this you easier to hit, but also grants bonuses on grappling

Weapon choices:

Hellhammer Lascannon

> Proven (3)
> 5 shot battery, 2 full actions to reload
> Weight: 55kg

Autocannon
> 3d10+8, AP6, S/3/-, 300m
> Ogryn-proof, Reliable
> 20 shot magazine, 2 full actions to reload
> Weight: 40kg

Mars Pattern Multilaser
> 2d10+10, AP2, -/-/5, 150m
> Reliable
> 100 shot battery, 2 full actions to reload
> Weight: 35kg

Proteus Rotor Cannon
> 1d10+6, AP3, -/6/10, 150m
> Tearing
> 200 shot magazine
> Weight: 35kg

Ripper Gun
> 1d10+8, AP0, S/-/6, 30m
> Ogryn-proof, Scatter
> 38 shot magazine, 2 full actions to reload
> Weight: 35kg
> ( Doubles as a Warhammer when used in melee )

Specialized ammunition will be available on the next mission.
If you decide to forgo these, the fusion generator of the Power Armor is capable of recharging a single power pack per hour.

A magazine or power pack generally speaking weighs approximately 10% of each weapon. Extra ammo will count towards encumbrance.

Standard issue mono-knives will be provided, albeit in consideration of your Ace Status, a melee weapon of choice can be requisitioned in honor of your contributions.

Power Sword
> 1d10+5, AP5
> Power Field, Balanced
> Weight: 3kg

Cavalry Sabre
> 1d10+6, AP4
> Power Field, Razor Sharp
> Weight: 4kg

Power Axe ( Single Hand)
> 1d10+7, AP7
> Power Field, Unbalanced
> Weight: 6kg

Thunder Hammer ( Single Hand )
> 2d10+4, AP10
> Power Field, Unwieldy
> Weight: 15kg

Balanced = +10 to parry
Razor Sharp = Weapon is AP10 with 2 or more degrees of success
Unbalanced = -10 to parry
Unwieldy = Cannot Parry

Your total encumbrance cap while wearing Power Armor is 90kg of combat equipment you can comfortably lug around.

Blast Pistol will also be provided as a standard issue backup weapon in event of ammo being depleted or weapon jam.
Carrying it is ultimately optional, but highly recommended. Largely an attempt to replace the arcane volkite weapons with overcharged las weapons with questionable results. Nevertheless, despite being not as reliable as plasma weapons, ammo can be drawn from a power outlet.
> 2d10+3, AP0, 15m
> Twin-linked, Overheats
> 5 shot battery, 2 full actions to reload
> Weight: 4kg

Tearing gives us good damage for each hit and the hits should be great in number. Fantastic for hosing down most enemies and useful with our Bulging Biceps when we need to react quickly. Plus short reload.

> This, except with sword.
Won't be able to dodge very well, so I kinda want that extra parry.

Lascannon is good for ambushes and sniping because I assume that an anti-tank laser will go through cover so we can always aim for center mass.
The sword + pistol is great for assault. We will have a gap on medium ranges, but that's fine so long as the lascannon works and we don't die from overwhelming fire.

Doubt we will use the pistol much, save to hand it out to someone whose gun jams or something.

I would otherwise call you anons out for trying to make Aren inflexible and only good VS hardened targets but this raises a good question - what is the troop composition going to be like? Is our squad supposed to drop on its lonesome and cover all angles (in which case giving Aren the Proteus is the obvious choice since he will be the commander) or is it supposed to work as a hammer to push through obstacles the other drop troops can not (in which case giving more heavy weapons to the squad and likely Aren as well is a good idea)?
>>
>>4922208
Regular goons are barely a threat with carapace armor. They will be even less so with power armor.

The biggest problem will likely be enemies dodging shots from the lascannon, but at the same time, if it hits, it will probably drop them.
>>
>>4922208
You will be deployed as part of a larger operation. This won't exactly be clandestine stuff, think more on Normandy scale.

There will be tanks, there will be aircraft, there will be artillery, there will be lots of infantry, both elite and grunt PDF.
Heavy shock troopers are sent to the thick of it.

Basically, think of them largely how Terminators are deployed, except instead of teleportin, you use airborne drops and Fulton Recovery when possible (usually it isn't)

You can get a forearm mount, but it's already got ridiculously low range as it is. I think it shaved off like 1/3 of the range and this thing is only accurate in like 15m until you start taking range penalties.

Okay, so bit of an update. Google just decided to slap an annoying fucking button on my tablet screen you can't remove.

Pointless bloatware that's not even on the background. Spent 4 hours trying to figure out how to remove it and even returning to factory settings didn't work.

The fucking icon will not go away even though I disable the app from background. Just bought this fucking thing too. Note to self. Never buy tablet, always buy laptop instead.

Anyway, lost most my notes on this endeavor, so fucking hooray. Thanks Google, may you choke on Satan's cock.

3kg Power Sword
4kg Blast Pistol
55kg Lascannon
22kg 4 extra battery packs

(Total 25 Lascannon blasts until need for recharge)

84/90kg

6 more kilograms can be filled

> Flame Bomb Grenade (0.5kg)
> Demo Charge (1kg)
> Forearm mounting (1kg)
> Replace Battery packs with backpack power supply (+3(25)kg)
> Write-in (suggest something else)

Backpack supply carries all 25 shots in one package without need for reload.
Wrist mount means no need to pull out weapon separately to fire it at cost of losing 1/3 of the range.

Alright, here's what's gonna happen. I've noticed that with this thread the quality has dropped quite sharply and rather than asking myself "How do I keep the grind going.", I'm instead going to ask myself "How do I actually make it good."

I've a rough idea on how this campaign is going to turn out militarily, but since we're in a relatively good position to cut it off here, I'm going to do so.
I hope I'll be able to turn a fresh page for this quest with the next thread as continuing here will simply be exposition cut short.

It may take a few days until I get there, but I reckon that's better than the alternative.

Expect to see a lot of heresy and treachery soon.
Word Bearers a coming and a lot of people gonna die (the lucky ones at least).
Things of course won't be simple for anyone involved for reasons I cannot disclose as of yet...

You will have your part to play, as one man among millions, but sometimes the right man in the wrong place can cause an awful lot of problems. Of course, having power armor helps.

Solo missions had this one luxury.
You were only responsible for your own life.

Would it be possible to stack the anti-grave chutes with a jetpack? I was wonder since the chutes only need power packs to make you lighter, and even less for small promethium jets to chance where you fall, but if we're near weightless and use the jetpack then would you theoretically require less fuel to fly?
