Perpetual Defiance - Thread 3 - The Big Leagues

Welcome to Perpetual Defiance, here we play a game where you take the role of a Solar Auxilia Mercenary in service to the Emperor and the Imperial senate. Mostly the latter though. Your job is to go to planets where planetary governors need to keep a lid on things and are willing to pay an exorbitant amount of money.

On the last thread, lured by the prospect of wealth, reputation and the fix of adrenaline only provided by the rush of battle, you elected to conveniently misinterpret your orders to allow you to attempt something that would never under normal circumstances get even considered by even the lowest levels of command.

By utilizing your freshly discovered abilities, you attempted to raid a Hive City on your own, which for all intents and purposes, has been a remarkably successful run, seeing you somehow made it to the upper hives without being killed in spite of my efforts!

Only tripped the alarm like seven times or something? I think I lost count. Anyhow, you want the details, the archive is up there.
Right now you've managed to climb approximately 9/10 of the hive, and we're taking it off from there.

+++ Level 9 - The Airbase +++

After a bit of minor terrorism, the guards were sufficiently distracted by the panicking crowds to allow your quick ascent to 9th level of the hive. You were now around a kilometer above sea level and there was a fair bit of air traffic on the area.

Hanging off the ledge of the hostile airbase, you saw a lot of these towers. Hangars stacked on hangars, most of them seemingly open and with planes presumably ready for takeoff the moment the order is given, and landing strips, which seemingly allowed aircraft to be taxie'd to these towers for safekeeping.

The thought of stealing all of them and bringing them back crossed your mind, but as it stood, even destroying them would be a huge undertaking as there were hundreds of aircraft within these towers and 4 kilograms of explosives could hardly bring down even one of these towers.

About the edge of the level were these big anti-air guns dotted about the place, or perhaps they were artillery guns? Hard to say, an earthshaker is an earthshaker no matter which way you pointed it. You did not however, see any ammunition for them cluttered about. Guess they were smart enough to not leave that stuff lying around.

There's a lot of military staff about the area, albeit most of them were non-combat personnel or pilots and thusly only carrying pistols by their side. You also spotted several guards doing their rounds about the compound, all of them armed with bolters.

The outer edge of the compound seemed to be relatively sparsely populated at least, perhaps because everyone's got a job to do? Or perhaps they were confident nobody would get this far.

Question was what to do next...
> [Prioritize the VIPs] Break into one of the hangars and try to steal an aircraft
> [Sabotage 1] Attempt to sneak around and look for their prometheum stockpile
> [Sabotage 2] Attempt to sneak around and look for their ammo stockpile
> Write-in
>>
>>4835485
Sabotage 2 BUT rig it so the ammo explodes when they try to take ammo from the depot
>>
>>4835485
> [Sabotage 1] Attempt to sneak around and look for their prometheum stockpile
> [Sabotage 2] Attempt to sneak around and look for their ammo stockpile
> Write-in
Do both. 1 demo pack per stockpile, cleverly hidden deep in the piles. When we need a distraction we'll detonate them.
>>
>>4835485
>Prioritize VIPs
We can always come back here after we killed the big boys. Steal a plane and ram it to wherever they work at.
>>
>>4835491
If we can do this. If not, set a long timer and hide it deep, then try and steal a plane.

Getting the aircraft offline is the strategic objective and the VIPs are just one avenue for it. Great if we get both but taking out the rearmament capacity is a direct win.
>>
It should be pointed out that sneaking around within a military compound will be a highly difficult check, requiring a perception check to find, a stealth check to sneak and tech-check for demolitions for each ammo and fuel depot separately.
>>
>Stealth --> Scrutiny --> Tech Use --> Stealth
To basically set up one fuel depot or ammo stockpile to blow.
>>
>>4835508
How many depos are we talking about and, if we fail a perception check to spot any, can we pivot to stealing a plane instead?
>>
>>4835508
Oh
> [Prioritize the VIPs] Break into one of the hangars and try to steal an aircraft
>>
>>4835495
I support this action.
>>
>>4835508
Oh, uhm.

In that case, I only support stealing a plane. Fuck that noise.
>>
Also, if we blow a depot do we have a reasonable chance to just run/jump/fly to a plane without getting shat on with autoguns etc. seeing as the security is focused on AA rather than ground combat?
>>
>>4835517
Make sure to take the flight captains hats in the planes.
>>
>>4835519
That is something you would not know. Ypu could try and interrogate someone to see if they would know, but naturally, trying to grab a soldier had it's own problems because everyone has at least a pistol.
>>
>>4835531
No I mean from our (Int) Common Lore (War) +10 as to how air staging ops the size of hives manage their ammo. Do they rather hoard it in a few central locations or is it spread out by every plane individually. Big picture stuff.
>>
>>4835528
Well it would be reasonable to assume they'd be fairly distracted by their base being under attack from inside.
>>
>>4835534
Ah, fair enough call. Give me d100 to see if you'd know anything about how they'd organize fuel and ammo depots on a hive.
>>

>>4835540
WAR YEAH
>>
Rolled 33 (1d100)

>>4835540
>>
>>4835540
Anyway, the most basic information is they keep the ammo a good distance from their HQ so the thing we are planning to do anyway wouldnt decimate their control structure.
>>
>>4835546
That's good enough for you to know that the orthodox practice in hive defense is to have a separate stockpile for every single flight group.

This means every 200 planes or so have their own separate depots where they draw their munitions from.

Your report stated approximately 1400 or 1600 active aircraft operating from the hive if I remember correctly, thus it would translate to 8-7 stockpiles of munitions and fuel.
>>
>>4835553
So question is whether 200 planes are worth it to potentially get gimped before we reach the top. Methinks probably not. Switching to VIP. >>4835506
>>
As to their location? Well, orthodox combat doctrine doesn't go into detail beyond saying it needs to be accessible by the group it is assigned to, which generally speaking just means you can transport a new set of ammo and a fuel truck on landing site before the plane finishes its sortie.
>>
>>4835562
So likely a tower per group with the ammo depot in the bottom where they resupply to the planes in their hangars. Likely guarded well and armored to boot. Probably not worth the trouble.
>>
>>4835570
Possibly. Good opportunity to earn big bucks, but also a good opportunity to eat a shitload of bolter rounds.
>>
>>4835578
Need to destroy 500 planes to equal one VIP.

Not worth it, in cost/risk
>>
>>4835578
We're not tonky enough for human grade bolter rounds, yet.
>>
>>4835593
I dont even remember the bounties for destroyed or captured vehicles
>>
>>4835603
10k destroyed aircraft
50k captured.

Aircraft cannot be replaced, so they are permanent damages.
>>
>>4835593
It's 10k for every plane kill and 50k for capture.
>>
>>4835578
VIP it is then. Like to keep the esophagus normal-sized and without gunpowder residue.
>>
>>4835611
In theory, if we destroy all the promethium depots in the base effectively grounding the plane unless they have enough fuel to migrate to the next level friendly Hive, and the rebels choose not to skuttle their planes if and when the hive is claimed, could we claim the bounty on all the planes for a minimum pay out or 70mil?

Probably not. Best outcome I see if flying out of the hive and offloading the plane for 50k.

Maybe a speech check to convince a few weak willed personnel to turn on their friends in exchange for splitting the bounty of 50k with us. If we manage to convince them, we not only get a share of the cut per plane, but they also act as cannon fodder if they AA guns and other planes start shooting at us.
>>
>>4835623
I think Kamakaze the plane into the governors house is the better idea.
>>
>>4835627
The. We steal the govenors personal flying fortress plane?
>>
>>4835635
Destroy the others first, then cut off the governors head and steal his gold plated bolt pistol and plane.
>>
>>4835611
How likely are we to recieving a promotion if we succeed, or percentage wise how much closer would we be to a promotion?
>>
> [Prioritize the VIPs] Break into one of the hangars and try to steal an aircraft
>>
>>4835669
I imagine they would put us in a spec ops unit really. Well they already have but make it sort of our modus operandi, but to prevent us getting tossed about and overruled i can see a promotion ot captain or sergeant to carry out our orders properly.
>>
>>4835676

This means we're going with 3, and 31.
The second shot... doesn't really hit, but probably irrelevant. See Catachans use knives for a reason.

Here's the base damage and...
>>
Rolled 8, 6 = 14 (2d10)

3 degrees of success.
Because Throwing Knives are for some reason considered Accurate weapons, they get 1d10 for every degree of success up to 2d10 of extra damage.
>>
>>4835828
Wow that's pathetic
>>
Alright, so in total, the throwing knife does 3+3+8+6 damage, meaning...

20 damage! Silent takedown complete.
This is actually in the rules.
>>
>>4835828

>>
>>
>>4835848
....this look so badass.
>>
>>4835843
Not really, it's honestly because throwing knives are actually pretty fucking good against big creatures with little armor since you get extra bonuses for aiming with an accurate weapon and extra damage from degrees of success.

Let's say you get 10 degrees of success on knife throw. You can shift the 1d5 damage to 10 and then you are doing 13+2d10 damage.

Downside is their lackluster range, but a squad in throwing knife range is actually a threat to Chaos space marines.

After dispatching the pilot, you now had full access to the Thunderbolt Heavy Fighter. In contrast to the usual tech level on the planet, this vessel was clearly not made locally as it had the Lascannons loaded on it, as well as the branding of Forge World Bakka on it.

Nevertheless, the dead guy surely wasn't gonna miss it. Of course, you didn't have any sort of flight clearance, but what's another plane in the skies, right?

> [ Let's fly ]

By all means, you were no fighter ace, but getting from point A to B? You could do that. Well, in theory. You got some simulation and hypno-indoctrination training for this, so it should work out. Probably. After all, same airframe your army used.

You crawled to the cockpit, somewhat cramped what with all your gear, but luckily you still managed to fit in, albeit barely. STC based construction was a marvel of human ingenuity, especially when it came to logistics, seeing how storage of seemingly impossible quantities of ammunition could be done without disturbing the external aesthetically.

You presume it was on the same principle that you could fit on a Thunderbolt cockpit whilst wearing void armor, thunder hammer, jetpack and copious amounts of explosives.

Placing your finger on the Power Rune, you did quick pre-flight check on fuel, ammo, engine status and so on before just pushing the thrust to max and activating the flaps. It was go time.

Soon after, the vox came to life.
"Thunderbolt S5-078, this is flight control, why the fuck have you taken off without authorization? Over."

"Yessir, sorry for the inconvenience. I've some issues with control surfaces, so going to figure out controls before attempting a landing. Not sure if this thing will slow down in time."

Oh man, can't believe that worked. They're not actually shooting you down? You don't got to duck and weave between projectiles? Well, that certainly is an acceptable outcome.

The former state administrative office, now the city council hall. A veritable ivory tower and an ostentatious temple for bureaucracy either way.

As you approached the sanctuary of the city's movers and shakers, the vox crackled up again.

That's enough of that friend. Too late anyways, you done fucked up son.

You turned off the Vox and floored the fire button, sending all the ordnance flying at the tower, unleashing missiles, autocannon fire and lascannon shots as you sped towards the target.

At the last critical moment, you pulled the ejection seat, sending the plane crashing down the hole you made into the building. You now had an entrance.

Cutting off the belts which held you in position, you left the seat to float away into the distance as you activated your jump jets, aiming to make a dynamic entrance through the freshly opened passage.

The scream of scrambling Thunderbolts in the air was deafening as you made your descent, riding on nothing but the gusts of wind.

https://youtu.be/eom2cj25NMc

You ride the wind, driving your jump jets to brake your descent as you fall through the heavens on wings of fire. With hammer in hand, you enter the domain of the mighty and witnessed the carnage you had wrought.

Corpses of civil servants, of bureaucrats and politicians. Of security personnel and some others who just happened to be there. Destroyed artworks and savaged architecture, cogitator terminals shattered.

Whatever was going on in this room wasn't going on any further. Alas, it wasn't just one room. The ordnance (that includes the aircraft), had cleaved a path of destruction in their wake, leaving dead and wounded in it's wake as they traveled deeper into the complex.

> Escalation level 5/5
> They be mad

As you walked through the wreckage, you realized one thing painfully clearly. You had no idea where you were going and security would be on your ass pretty soon. For now, you had only one real way of getting around.

The building layout that's printed next to the elevator! Let's see...
Council Chambers... Supreme Hive Court Chamber... Mayoral Suite... Planetary relations committee... This and that committee...

All sound pretty official. Hard to say where to go from here. Any ideas on how to find your target(s)?

> [ Council Chambers ]

The Council chamber seems like the best opportunity to catch them all in same place, so long as they're still there. You hit the mechanicum rune of summoning on the wall.

The elevatus is offline. Typical. Either it's busted because you dumped a metric buttload of ordnance to the building or they simply disabled it remotely.

Regardless, you were reasonably close to the council chambers, just had to find a way down on which you had a couple of options. Either you'd bust open the elevatus shaft and dive in or use the stairs.

Alternatively, you could try to rapple down on the outside of the building, but with all the thunderbolts out there, that wasn't much of an option.

Although, if you want to go in loud, you could always just smash through floors with Thunder hammer to make them shit their pants.

We have burnt two hive honour guard hats. I bet those hats had a decent hatcoin value.

What? People say this is crack but remember we are a perpetual. Having some weird eccentricity of collecting shit from our deployment or mission is a given.

Some people collect rocks or dort from the areas of their deployment. We do hats. Military hats to be precise, and only because the full uniform is not easy to get during a running gunfight. Also the uniforms is probably not in mint condition what with us having to usually kill the wearer.

Usually because we are not going to hunt down one of the few remaining thunder warriors in existence. Those guys take out Astartes squads by their lonesome.

By our extensive collection of haberdashery and other knickknacks we will be able to amass a vast treasuretrove of imperial history and culture as we age.

+++ Continuing the Hunt +++

After dispatching the last of the guards, you promptly smashed through the pile of garbage they had piles in front of the door. Turns out, Thunder Hammer doesn't really care whether your tables are reinforced with flak boards or not.

*Beeeep-*
*BRATATATATATA!*

...Okay then. Turns out there's a turret down the hallway. It's either that way, turn back or go to the executive bathroom the city of council has on the other direction, and you weren't too interested on where the rebel leaders shat.

Once more to the... meat grinder. You had to break through one of these fucking things. Fantastic. The laspistol wasn't going to jack shit. The Grenades would take a while to burn through that thing, costing you time.

The only things that likely would rip it apart one of those on a timely manner was your Thunder hammer. The Tarantulas were tough bastards, often running out of ammo before being destroyed unless somebody in the squad brought some heavy firepower.

Welp, not a lot of options here. If you try to go in there, the blasted thing is going to take some shots at you with it's twin-linked heavy bolters.

Damn walls are reinforced too, so getting around would take a while even with the Thunder Hammer. Options are limited, but you do have a couple.

The Tarantula has 30 wounds, 10AP and 6 toughness.

One daring dash and a good hammering later, you had a wrecked turret and a sealed door in front of you. Luckily the Thunder Hammer is the ultimate lockpick.

Upon smashing your way through a door they'd probably rather you didn't, in front of you lies two paths. An out of order elevator and a stairway going down.

Which do you wish to proceed through?

>>
>You have chosen wisely.
You smash the doors open vigorously and take control of the shaft, plunging into the hole, easily rappling down at the right stop.

As you made it to the bottom, you notice two things.
1. A massive arrow pointing towards another sealed door saying. HANGAR-00
2. A dude looking up towards the stairs with a remote detonator in hand and an autopistol readied.

Welp, looks like this is a goddamn escape route. Wanna shank this guy?

A Power Hammer splat is quieter than a grenade going off though. Maybe we even have a knife left over to literally shank with.
>>
>>4838798
What’s the point of being quiet though?
>>
>>4838802
The surprise being when we burst through the door at speed vs everybody taking a round to aim. Considering it is just one guy with a shitty pistol guarding the staircase there is not much more behind the door aside maybe aircraft guns.
>>
>>4838798
Yes, but cool guys don't look at explosions. When someone makes a propaganda flick about this, we can add this scene.
>>
>>4838805
I’d rather we to for maximum speed, the fact QM give is the option to shank or not might mean they are just about to take off.
>>
>>4838808
1) Nobody is filming.
2) Just add in post.
3) Much more impressive if we can actually pull this VIP shit off.

>>4838809
Couple seconds wont make a difference. Plus if they are already launching we can just take the next plane.
>>
>>4838811
It actually very well might, since there is no real reason to give the option to shank or not otherwise.
Why would there be a next plane? And even if there was, you feel like fighting the thunderbolt squadrons outside?
>>
>>4838814
>4838814
Unlikely to be single plane hangar and we dont need to, or even care to, fight the other thunderbolts. We only need to magdump the VIP(s). As to option, seems like a "Do you want to ask him anything or just kill him?" choice.
>>
>>4838823
>>4838823
It’s an emergency escape Hangars for Vips, why would there be many plane?
Thunderbolt are literally crawling all over the place outside, the moment we take off they’d be all over us.
Heck, would an escape plane even have guns?
Not reading like that to me.
>>
>>4838848
Why do you think its an emergency hangar vs just the Council hangar? Plus it makes no sense to launch all 1600 warplanes. Bet ya' there are at least a few armed aircraft along with some fast luxury craft and similar crap.
>>
>>4838855
Wouldn't they just launch those aircraft from the 9th level? Since there's a proper airbase within pretty close distance?
>>
>>4838871
For military patrols, sure. Im betting there are some escort ships about.
>>
>>4838855
Please, go read the previous updates, doing rappel wasn’t an option because it was crawling with planes outside, we literally kicked the hornet nest a few minutes ago.
I think it’s an emergency hangar because it’s called 00 and our character called it an escape route, but I guess you may be right, since I have no way to prove it except conjecture.
It would make little sense for there to be armed aircraft when the military airbase is right outside on the 9th floor. Military planes are extremely precious right now, so putting them in such a useless place would be pretty stupid.(granted, I don’t dismiss the possibility they did it since they rebelled against the Imperium in the first place)
>>
>>4838802
we might also want the detonator
>>
>>4838726
Guess that makes sense.

>Y

Can we toss a nade or show the dudes body into the elevator so it can't be called?
>>
>>4837760
>>4838775
>N

Just get going
>>
>>4838889
Again, we dont care about the other planes as we only need to get the VIP shuttle(s). As to "emergency" its just the route they took. There were no emplacements on the way, barricades made of random furniture even the Tarantula was not fixed but the deployable kind. This is a mostly virgin secondary hive on a fringe planet. Finally, as I said, they would not be military patrol craft but escort craft specifically for VIP shuttles. That is to say, not under standard hierarchy but subordinate to whoever runs the show. Depending on where the families keep their flashy shit we may even see custom mods etc.
>>
>>4838954
Elevator is out anyway. Throwing the dude down there is also a sketch idea since he can still press the detonator button. Disposing of the body is irrelevant.
>>
>>4839009
Elevator is just out of order I doubt it is broken, plus I wanted to jam the elevator door with his body not throw him down the shaft, tho we could do that too if you really want to.
>>
>>4839038
Nah we fucked it up with the kamikaze run. Also why they are still here and the guy is watching the staircase. Dont care about the body or the elevator shaft, just mince the dude and go ahead.

After doing your civic duty of preventing an unlicensed construction worker from vandalizing a significant planetary monument, you swiftly moved on to the door to the hangar wherupon the machine spirit posed a riddle to you. You were to insert the correct sequence of runes upon the device in order to gain access to what lay behind this door.

You inserted your hammer through the door and such fragile concepts as "Access" or "denied", suddenly lost all meaning.

At the end of the hangar, you saw some sort of guncutter starting it's engines as the hydraulic doors were slowly opening. The fuckers were trying to hightail it out of the spire! Cowards! Running from one guy!

You saw two guards point their bolters at you, taking aim as the vessel starting retracting it's landing gear. This is a do or die moment.

Jump jets to full thrust, whomever is in that plane must be important enough if so many people died to protect them!

In a makeshift emergency manouvre, you manged to somehow get your grappling hook fastened to the spacecraft before it left you in the dust.

This of course, caused you to shift your position quite dramatically. You now notice that you have left the atmosphere whilst you were struggling with the rope stuff.

Also, you burnt through your jet packs, they need some sort of tech-check later to determine what is wrong with them, but you're not pulling off that manouvre again.

Anyway, one last try with strength to make your way to the cockpit.

>>
> [Shit Happens]

Through no small effort, you manage to regain your purchase on the ship, slowly but surely scaling the vessel, crawling towards the cockpit as you fought against the G-forces of the acceleration.

The lack of wind now seemed to make the climb easier as you had now entered the orbit, inching your way towards a space born hijacking.

And that's when you saw it. A tear in space opening up in the distance.. A hole in reality, purplish and carmine, writhing, warping and expanding violently as if an explosion of flesh bursting out.

As you gazed into it, something in it(?), gazed right back at you with a singular cloudy eye with surrounded by inky blackness, gazing right at you.

Quite surprising that this ship has a warp engine, or is it an arriving vessel?
>>

As the eye kept growing larger and larger, you managed to not get distracted and pull yourself closer to your destination, being only few meters away from the cockpit before accidentally glancing towards the eye again.

And then you realized it.

The eye was cloudy because... Those are actually. That's not a fucking eye, that's a planet. Why was there a gateway to another planet in middle of space? Especially in middle of a warp storm?
>>
>>4841779

So, whoever is in there is Chaos aligned then?*sweat*

Something was coming out of the eye... Spear? No, a ship. Somebody just warped into the star system on a Crimson vessel?

Yes because you are trying to hold on the ship a bit longer and see how they react to the new ship.
>>
>>4841812
it isn't more important. if we don't do our jobs we are going to need to do more strength and potentially fall off while losing both our targets and our ability to watch this ship as we go spinning off into deep space for another week long nap.

Whereas inside, after we murder everyone we can turn the ship around and take a look at it later. Since I expect exterminatus.
>>
>>4841790
> Hang on and see where these guys are going with the ship [requires more strength check]
AAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Alrigh, alright, it's just a chaos invasion. We follow this motherfuckers towards the ship, when we reach the hangar we start massacrating everyone, then we get to the ships core, plant the demo charges and blow it all up. If we don't, the planet is fucked. We should also be quick, because the ship is big and we have little to no time. There will also be Chaos Astartes in that shit,so just blitz towards the core and kill everyone.
>>
>Finish him
We almost cocked up on last stretch. If these guys run for the ship while we are holding on, we're kinda fucked.
>>
>>4841823
??? What? What Exterminatus?
Those are clearly Chaos dude of the HH, and I think they’ll be out sight once we are done clearing up the ship, intel that there’s a massive ship in system and where it went would be a boon to command if it turn out hostule.
>>
>>4841823
Is this planet so fucked that it deserves an exterminatus? For what we've gathered, the rebels were not that powerful. Maybe it's because of the renegade Astartes....
>>
>>4841790
>> Finish the job
>>
There’s never exterminatus because of mere mundane rebels, exterminatus are only for completely unrecoverable planets, and even then not always, heck, I am not even sure the organization that can order it even exist yet x)
>>
>>4841831
>>4841833
I expect these to be chaos ships, since someone said that and my mind is spinning to worst case. Namely that the traitors are coming to destroy this planet for some stratigic reason and we have been weakened by the 20th.

And yeah, Exterminatus, ala the shit that happened on Calth. that wasn't "officially" exterminated but the effects were basically indistinguishable.
>>
>>4841790
>> Finish the job [No DC, just break the windshield and go to town, you got a job to do]
>>
>>4841838
Well there was that planet that try to yeet the big E into the warp with a vortex weapon.
>>
Guys, why do you want to break the windshield, we can sneak up into the chaos ship and blow it up
>>
>>4841849
Job to do.
Not being thrown into the void of space and achieving nothing.
After killing the pilots we can just drive it into the ship ourselves, ect ect
>>
>>4841849
lol, tell me again which part of the ship can destroy it in one go?
>>
>>4841840
I don’t understand what the 20th is.
They are probably here to both kill the Auxilia and take the massive amount of stockpiled gear on the planet.
Anyways, we should look to where they goes and if they have a staging point, this might not be their only ships ( they also have cultists on the ground).
I suspect we might have to join hands with the rebels soon.
That’s not an exterminatus.
>>
>>4841859
The Hull
>>
>>4841859
There isn’t really, Imperium ships are built to be resilient to the extreme.
>>
>>4841863
The 20th is alpha legion.
>>
>>4841863
Depends how deep the rots goes and their level of support amongst the rebels. Isn't subverting mundane rebellions something Chaos often does to get an in to a planet?
>>
>>4841863
It is likely the Alpha Legion backup for the planetary coup. No exterminatus or glassing, just an expediation measure. Likely only ship and probably easy to spot on planetary approach. We just need to do one jov at a time and finish up here before returning to command with intel. God knows we won't do jack shit to the enemy ship.
>>
>>4841867
lol, I guess you can try and blow a hole under the waterline or something
>>
I don’t know why everyone is convinced they are Alpha legion, this the HH, the Alpha legion might be used as forward scouting/sabotage unit, but are unlikely to actually be the main force of the assault there.
We also know for a fact that this planet had massive stockpile of gears meant for the Crusade.
I am also not convinced they are actually backing the rebels, it’s been explicitly said that they didn’t rebels against the Imperium, but against the governor only, they might have very well come to the negotiation table once the solar arrived if the Governor didn’t get assassinated by «them», completely screwing them of any way out. They are more likely to be backing the cultists in the wild

Anyways, it’s more Important to the war effort to see where the big ship go than to kill some Hive military commander that got his post through nepotism and isn’t even doing his job 90% of the time.
>>
>>4841898
Because the Alpha legion is already here, actively sabotaging us and blew up a station?
>>
>>4841908
That is literally their jobs description in any military formation.
>>
>>4841859
The warp engine, if overloaded or malfunctioning, can open a rift that tears the ship apart. I you bomb a part of it and then connect it, well... I know that we would get fucked, but it's either us or an entire world
>>
>>4841909
That's why we think they are here and active.

Because despite being sneaky fucks, never forget that they are marines and just as willing to go on all out attack as any other legion, should it suit them.
>>
>>4841885
You can either accept suggestions or reject them, no need to be an asshole while doing so QM
>>
>>4841914
Well, I don’t think it’s them.
Since Horus is still in command, I think he is more likely to use them for scouting and sabotage while others do the heavy hitting.
Regardless, it really doesn’t change the fact that we should know where they go, that’s especially true if they are 20th legion as you think, since they are likely to just hide themselves somewhere in the system and send out marines units to make a jolly mess through sabotage and infiltration if it’s them.
>>
>>4841927
Not like we can do much in that case anyway. Doubt we have enough voidships to tango with GC era marine forces in space.
>>
>>4841952
Fair, we’re in for a few years of pain I think.
>>
>>4841959
Depends on how fast we can mop up the rebellion. If our antics removed one hive from the equation then it might not be so grim.
>>
>>4841986
The problem is that we’re stuck ont the planet while Chaos can move freely in the warpstorm.
Also, they have marines and we don’t.
I think we might end up having to dig in into the hive we control.
>>
>> Finish the job [No DC, just break the windshield and go to town, you got a job to do]

>>
so what is the probability of us being able to or needing to dodge laser and PD fire if we highjack this ship here and if we are going to have a fleet to even return too if that is really a hostile ship
>>
cause if we are really right on top of a hostile vessel id say our best bet is to just go along with the ride so we arent blown out of space. I mean we would have to sabotage the vessel afterword's so we can pull a millennium falcon and escape but thats probably easier than facing a BBs worth of fighters and PD
>>
>>4842808
Why would you even get close to the voidship? Just take over the shuttle and go back to command. Hell, we might even be able to bring in the guys alive.
>>
>>4842867

you do know that if we are in visual range to see the ship coming out of the Warp portal, and even the color of said ship too, we are in range of their guns. Being close enough to a ship to see it is not good in space cause ships have engagement ranges of thousands of kilometers so this is spitting distance for them.
>>
>>4842891
Pretty sure they wont shoot us with a Lance battery.
>>
>>4842894
im not sure what you dont understand about us being well within their weapons range.....we are within ALL of their weapons ranges, PD, Macrocannon, fuckin dudes in hangers with rifles. Visual range in space combat is akin to ships touching or skirting paint in the water. People make fun of Imperial aim but this is great crusade and even in 40k they would still be able to swat our shuttle into a billion different pieces
>>
>>4841912
Yes, and what does a warp engine do when it gets overloaded?
>>
>>4842900
Then either we are plain fucked or we go back down to the planet and bank on them no spotting/shooting us.
>>
>>4842909
what does warp engine overloading have to do with us being in swatting distance of a capital ship? Sure a warp engine could be riged to blow like in Halo Reach to destroy the ship but that doesnt help o deal with the fact if they think we took over the shuttle they could just blow us to our composite atoms

Well not all chaos energies get alone or are frens, they could just screw with each other making them retarded abortion abominations.
>>
>>4842937
Oh yea, true and they still have to make their way back somehow. Probably the worst part is if you'd probably end up facing them on their home turf if you were still on a chaos vessel when it entered the warp.

Not that you know it's one in character.

> [ Boss level cleared! ]

The Armaglas shatters when given a tap with a thunder hammer, depressurizing the cockpit cabin, freaking out the pilots pretty damn hard as a spaceman crawls through the blackness of the void into their craft.

Neither of them were wearing void suits, which implies they were leaving in a big damn hurry. With their last strength, they were trying to reach the arms cabinet, resulting in a prompt knife to the back of their heads.

These guys certainly were spiteful. Well, guess you'd do something like that too if you were about to die from explosive decompression. If you had to go down, might as well go down with weapon in hand after all.

With a quick press of a button, you locked all doors on the ship remotely. Whoever was back there sure as shit didn't have a way out now.

After taking the helm, you diverted course back towards the planet. Shortly afterwards, you started hearing a lot of banging on the door. Clearly, they had noticed as they were locked in.

You had a call from the internal comms. Bemused, you accepted the call. This was going to be good. On the opposite end of the line you heard an angry and panicked voice trying to contact the staff you recently released from their duties.

"-CAPTAIN! WHAT THE IN THE SHITDAMNFUCK ARE YOU PLAYING AT? WHY DID YOU LOCK US IN HERE? WHY HAVE WE DIVERTED FROM COURSE? ANSWER ME YOU TRAITOR!"
"Err.... this is the urrr... pilot speaking... errr... we seem to be experiencing some void turbulence... errr... please mind your seatbelts and have a pleasant flight..."
"What?!? WHO THE IN THE DAMN IS THIS?"
"Aren, who is this?"
"I'm asking the questions here!"
"Well, if you're going to be like that, I'm just going to leave the toilets locked. Have a nice day shitting in buckets dickhead."

Still didn't have any idea who you kidnapped. This is going to be fun to try and explain. Why yes, I stormed the Vesser council chambers and stole a VIP ship trying to escape. Why do you ask? Who is in there? Gee, I don't know. Just pulled them over because they were resisting arrest.

Better be at least one VIP there.

Vengeance class grand cruiser if I am not mistaken, because Emperor vetoed the lobbyists of planetary governors trying to get proper battleships to their mercenary force which already was overkill.

Essentially the whole origin story of Varangon Tagmata was that the senate who was composed of people elected by the planetary governors, wanted to get themselves a mercenary force they can use to quell planetary populations, but with crusade grade equipment.

The senators also get a cut into their budget from all the operations you undertake. Generally speaking, your guys aren't too well regarded by the Primarchs but kept around because realpolitik
>>
>>4843400
Hmm, the previous governor died and we don't know much about the current governor so we can't call him a idiot. Maybe it is worth taking them directly to the governor just to meet the dude. Maybe he's a bro, maybe he's a douched frat boi.
>>
>>4843395
30K and that would be a tremendously stupid thing to do when the Auxilia is the only thing keeping his regime alive.
>>
>>4843411
Each hive has an annual budget measured in the trillions, so you are technically speaking getting chump change for the amount of work you did.

Of course that budget isn't exactly entirely military in nature.
>>
>>4843412
Not only that, you guys work for the senate, which means pissing you off means souring relations with the galactic community as a whole.
>>
If you would get average of 2000 TG in taxes annually in this world, and there's 20 billion people, you'd end up with 20 trillion TG every year.

In terms of scale, that's enough for them to pay you to do this around 10 000 000 times. You didn't even bring that many men to begin with.

That's kinda how you get to have 250 mercenary army battlegroups roaming the galaxy looking for trouble.

I mean theoretically speaking, it's not impossible for a regia occulta or whatever eisenhorn called it to appear.

Basically, a warp portal leading to another place in the galaxy when some obscure parameters were met. For example, in the midnight during full moon when a drawbridge wad lowered, the end of that bridge could lead you to an Ork world.

They're pretty rare though and easily sealed.

Perpetual are not completely unknown. Just like psykers and nulls are not completely unknown, well, to the higher echelons of the imperium.

And perpetual are the most hard, most rare and thus far not replicated by mankind even in 40k, unlike the other two who have been replicated with varying degrees of success, or lack thereof.

It is far more likely for people to report up the , of their respective, chain of command hoping to ride the report to the person who is interested and is likely to know.

And once they do know they won't bother with labrat type of shit. But with political manoeuvering that ends with us in the likely life threatening situation because it is nice to have an agent for whatever that is incapable of lasting death.

So from the imperials its going to be recruitment and subversion games of who has our leash for as long as we can be held by some kind of leash.

Honestly, the best option would be to try and find a Knight mech and with our cash fix it up and get a pseudo sacristan band to play knight errant. It is going to be fucking expensive to get the implants if we even can every time we respawn and probably 10x time more costly to implant them every time due to our bullshit regen, but the political benefits of being a knight errant that is sworn only to the imperium at large are going to be undeniable.

The other less expensive but just as hard would be to get a warrant of trade.
Both the likelihood of finding a unaccompanied knight mech in whatever condition or the connections to get in the position to get a warrant are jut as likely at the moment. Closer to 0 than to any natural number.
>>
>>4844737
Or, and hear me out, we put the knight implants in other people, end up with several knights and Seion gets a power armour, bolter training, a very good bolter and a better Thunderhammer (seriously, the hammer has paid it's own weight in gold several times alredy, and ten times more in memes. I think it should be, at the absolute minimum, one of our top5 favourite weapons)
>>
>>4844756
Can you even wear power armor without implants?
>>
>>4844857
Some. They're rare but sets for normal humans are a thing, notably with Sisters of Battle, Lord Inquisitors, and very wealthy Rogue Traders.
>>
>>4844860
I thought SoBs also used implants extensively?
>>
>>4844857
Yep. Implant might be a no go for us, which means we'll have to focus on improving our martial prowess. We could also supliment our inability to accept implant with heavy duty combat stims, psykers power, and a big fucking mecha.
>>
>>4844875
Not all of them as far as I'm aware. They could probably get implants to make them better in power armor, but they'll never be as good as Astartes.
>>
>>4844880
knights require mind impulse type implants. be it helm or throne mechanicum.
you can use power armor without implants or black carapace but its going to have a limited power supply. 2 or 12 hours i cant recall and after that it is not powered any more.

we are going to stick to carapace. best quality stromtrooper carapace is 6+1 armor, equivalent to regular light power armor that has 7 armor.

and if you are connected and have a long history you can get carious personal shielding options like refractor or conversion fields. those are way more expensive but have a % chance to completely negate ranged attacks.
>>
>>4844900
Fuck knights.
Get supreme sized Sentinels.
Power armor running out of juice? Get a big battery back pack like what the space marines have. (Where does it say normal power armor only lasts 2 or 12 hours?)
If we're able to learn psykers abilities, we could keep a set of power armor powered indefinitely.
>>
>>4843471
Hey. Dont the techbois owe us a flavor for saving some of their priests? Could we get into contact with those guys and see if they could help us get the education and certificates we need to be an honorary/technically/actually a techpriest? If we're a part time tech priest then thay might mean sometime after the HH is over the Mechanicus wont be breathing down our neck as heavily.
>>
Firstly, we don't spill the beans. Just say we got lucky/are that good. Secondly, pretty much "no" to all PA, dread, knight and titan stuff. Can't keep the implants for long, if at all. Thirdly, just become an Arch Militant for a Rogue Trader.

https://youtu.be/1x-5ZkTMyMc

[1]

Tilting the vessel back to planetside, you navigate towards the capital hive with the best of your ability, accompanied by the occasional muffled banging on the door behind you.

As soon as you got to the atmosphere, you made a point to do a barrel roll, just to fuck with them and because they were rude to you earlier. Also because it wasn't your plane, so you could have a bit of fun with it. This of course, did little to help calm the passengers.
Oh well, Stockholm syndrome takes time to develop.

Soon as you entered into Vector airspace, you started getting Vox messages and Thunderbolt fighters circling around you.
"Unknown aircraft, this is Vector Air control! Identify yourself this instant and turn on your transponder or you will be fired upon! Over."
"Alright, sorry about that. Junior Sergeant Aren Seion from Varangon Tagmatons. Let me pop the transponder on. Requesting for call sign. Over."
There's a moment of static before another message comes in
"This is air control to unknown aircraft. Why is your transponder registering your vessel as VSAF-00/001 and not as any of the known Varangon airframes? Over."
"Oh that's because I killed the pilot and stole it. Got some POWs on board. Over"
"Sorry, could you repeat that? Over"
"Just issue me a call sign and have one of the thunderbolts come and look into the cockpit."
"Roger that, your call sign is Cutlass remain on standby, Over."
As one of the thunderbolts hovered closer to the aircraft, you grappled the captain's corpse to you and showed the pilot your grim trophy with a knife still sticking out of the skull.
"This is Control to call sign Cutlass, we have verification you have dead crew on board. We're going to have you land on a high security terminal. Please follow the instructions of your escorts. Over."

First, it was just a squadron escorting you. Now? They directed an entire fighter wing to keep an eye on you as you slowly made your way to an isolated set of landing pads, which upon touchdown began to descend into the building and sealing the exit.

You were now under several meters of reinforced ferrocrete and plasteel, completely surrounded by PDF soldiers behind sandbags with various forms of weaponry, light and heavy pointed towards your vessel. Among them were several of the Varangonian mercenaries in full gear, carrying Shock Mauls and Riot Shields...
>>
[2]

"Junior Sergeant Seion, I am Captain Askelan of the Vector Detachment. You are now under orders to vacate the vessel and present yourself for identity verification! Your vessel will be taken into custody."
You heard one of the Varangonian officers bark through the laud-hailers.
"Yea, okay! Crawling out now!"

You made sure to collect your knives and put on the captain's bloodstained hat as you wormed your way out of the cockpit on top of the vehicle, looking down on the procession gathered there.

The armor you wore had been through a lot of shit. Soot and bits of dried seaweed clung to your armor. There were plenty of hairline cracks causes by the sonic weapon, along with a horrendous amount of scratches, dents and outright craters caused by Autogun, Stubber and Bolter fire.

In fact the last one was made the most striking appearance. Your armor had taken over a dozen bolter rounds, quite a lot achieving some penetration, stretching the self-sealing capabilities of even the finest Solar Pattern Void Armor to its limits.

As you slithered to the ground level, you were immediately flanked by your... Ahem. Colleagues, who seemed to be looking at you with some amazement as the Medicae came for the sample.
"He's clean!"
"Junior Sergeant! Situation report! What the hell is all this?"
"I think I may have successfully kidnapped some VIPs during my aggressive reconnaissance operations."
"Who in the warp is back there."
"I'm not sure sir, I took a contextually educated guess that they were important to the enemy when I boarded this vessel."
You hear an extremely frustrated sigh come through the comms of the armored up Auxilia officer
"Son, do you have ANY idea who this vessel belongs to soldier?"
"No sir, I can only guess at that."
"This ship you stole is from Vesser Air Force Zero. That's for administrative business exclusively! How in the warp did you steal this?!?"
"Must have just gotten lucky."
"Lucky. Yea, sure. Well, let's pop the ship open and see who exactly is inside, standby on the sidelines for the moment Junior Sergeant. Soldiers! Ready your weapons and get ready to take them alive for questioning."

Soon as the exit ramp was dropped, bullets started raining down from within the ship. Well, just pistol shots really. That's quite literally all they had, but they also seemed intent on not going down without a fight.

"YOU MERCENARY DOGS ARE A WRENCH IN THE WHEELS OF THE IMPERIUM! YOU HAVE NO MORAL RIGHT TO SUPPRESS THE SELF-DETERMINATION OF LOYAL IMPERIAL CITIZENS!"

Oh shit. You recognized that face. It was the Lord Mayor himself, Rufus Malitabe, unloading his revolver on the shields of your brothers in arms, doing about as much as you would expect before being pummeled in the face by shock mauls, along with his compatriots and forcefully dragged out.

"Primarch's ballsack! You captured almost the entire high command of an entire hive alive?!? The Marshal will be very happy to hear this, as will the Planetary governor."

"Sir, I think you want to have a look at this."
The Varangonian medicae interrupted, pointing to his genetic scanner.
"This says they're all fakes. All three of them."
"FUCKING WHAT?!?" You erupt to the medicae
"YOU BETTER NOT FUCKING TELL ME I JUST SPENT ALL THAT FUCKING EFFORT TO KIDNAP SOME FUCKING BODY DOUBLES!?!"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP SERGEANT!" The Captain yelled at you, silencing you on the spot.
"You're hereby put on standby until we figure out what the fuck is going on. Write your after-action report and turn in your gear for the armorer to look at. For now, we don't know if the entire rebellion is instigated by infiltrators."

Son of a fucking bitch. They better not screw you over on the money after so much overtime and danger.

Almost no Great Crusade battle formation comes with those as a standard. Hell, most marines started acting pissy just because they got people attached to their army who were supposed to keep a record of their crusade accomplishments and (and make propaganda)

The concept of actually putting some degree of surveillance equipment on your soldiers, especially the elite ones who are most likely to commit warcrimes is one of those things which potentially could disrupt the unity of the crusade, so little to no funds are allocated in doing that.

You just got Discipline Masters who maintain proper conduct in war and whom often themselves are war criminals as well, but selected for being psychopathically devoted to the Imperial cause.
>>
Infact, most things we would consider war crimes today aren't even illegal yet in the great crusade, as they kicked that ball so far on the other end of the court when they started.

There's actually quite a few technologies Imperium bans and regulates, seeing them as either dangerous or counter-productive towards the idea of a galaxy with an absolute and self-perfecting human hegemony over all life.

These things are ruthlessly cracked down on, but so far as going against the usual army regulations? Often very much don't ask, don't tell.

Complaints of protestors are best buried under sea of ambiguity and shaky evidence, unless the charges are considered serious enough to warrant a proper investigation.

No, but you can attempt to jink, which is basically an operate test against with penalties for your size.

You get a -20 for being a sentinel, but for every degree of success you can negate a hit. Anything that's not a walker though has to be moving while attempting to jink, so on a tank you take penalties for firing if you try to hit targets on the move.

Of course, a Malcador has like 100 wounds and can get whole lot of armor on the front, so it probably doesn't need to avoid enemy fire in most cases.

Of course, it also takes more crew.

> The Discipline Master demands your presence

[1/2]

You were absolutely fuming. All that work? The superhuman feats you pulled off, the incredible amount of bullets you took, only to have been hoodwinked at the last second? This was absolute bullshit. Why would they even put in such an effort for fucking body doubles? It didn't make sense to you.

It had been two days since the incident. Rather than placing you on the barracks, you were located on a reasonable hotel room in the upper hive, under guard and practically on house arrest until they figured out what to do with you. They gave you meals on delivery and kept you isolated from the rest of the guests.

You didn't have much idea why they did that either. Did they think you were a spy as well? Or what was the issue here? Did they just not have the room, or... Well, the food was good anyways, even if you necessarily did not need to eat.

Then, after all the uncertainty, you finally got some news. Well, not the good kind. One of your... escorts opened the door and a ranking officers from the Tagmata, a lieutenant belonging to some regiment or another, entered your room.
"Junior Sergeant Seion, Discipline Master Blackheart demands your presence. I am to take you to him immediately. Get yourself cleaned up."
"Sir, what the fuck? I've never done anything wrong in my entire life!"
"This is an order! Get sharp and get moving."
"Sir, Yessir..." You replied dejected to the lieutenant whom elected not to be anal about your tone of voice.

Still escorted by the soldiers in full gear (ok, but why though?), you're driven through the hive on an Aurox APC to the military district of this hive, straight into some sort of walled compound with a tower/bunker complex at the heart, possessing extremely thickly laid ferrocrete walls. Clearly a fortification, but you weren't entirely sure on the purpose of it.

Once inside, you were led past what seemed like interrogation chambers to the door of an office.
"Alright, in you go Sergeant. Word of advice, don't piss him off."
Yea, don't piss off the regimental executioner. Sure. Be sure to do that.
"Understood Sir"

You enter into the office furnished with a lot of expensive wood walls and gold adornments. The floors were decorated extensively with elaborate furniture, enough to make the interior feel somewhat cramped.
"Junior Sergeant Aren Seion responding to summons Sir."
You stiffly stated as you made the Imperial salute upon entry. With a singular red cybernetic eye and a perpetual scowl on his face, the man turned his face to give a short glance at you.
"Junior Sergeant? Hardly. Close the door and sit down."
>>
[2/2]

Soon as you sat down, the man slams a pile of classified documents on the table and gives you an annoyed look.
"Let me be extraordinarily clear here. I want to know exactly what in the good Emperor's fucking name is this supposed to be?"
"...My after action report?"
"No fucking shit rookie. Brushing asides the absolute damned insanity of this whole situation, I want to know who the hell even authorized this?"
"The Varangon Black Ops, Sir?"
"Do you think I didn't call them first? They're denying ever giving you orders to attack A. FUCKING. HIVE. CITY! With NO BACKUP WHATSOEVER!"
"Well to be entirely honest here sir, if you go through the last transmission they sent me, it clearly states I had a carte blanche to go about the mission as I saw fit, and that I had been provided a list of targets to kill or capture. Furthermore, I was entirely within jurisdiction to order for an aggressive reconnaissance mission."
He taps his cogitator a few times and gives you an extremely bitter look.
"I bet you are feeling really fucking clever right now, you little shit. Well, you got kicked out of the Black Ops the moment you went AWOL, so you're a trooper again. For now."
"I think you mean MIA Sir."
He gives you an annoyed glance.
"...sure. We'll go with that then for now, for the sake of accuracy."

Pulling out another set of documents from his desk, he plops them in front of you, them being stamped as classified as well.
"Those are reports from the armory. Any thoughts?"
"Battle damage is part and parcel of warfare, Sir?"
He gives you a sadistic smirk
"Alright. Since you're being so cooperative, certainly you wouldn't mind us checking your psychic profile and blood for mutations?"
You shrug, laughing internally as you already did this back at Freeholder's town.
"Go ahead."
He pushes a button on his intercom
"Bring in the Astropath and the Surgeon Primus."
"Yes sir."
Wait, what?
The door opens, and you feel the bony hand of a woman clasp your shoulder.
"Don't resist."

> Try not to resist

[1]

You feel something enter through your being from the shoulder as the hand touches you, like roots that aren't there, tendrils, branching out towards your brain like some alien thing, causing your state of mind to shift to one of abject horror.

"Don't resist young man. It's for your own good." The woman sternly demands from you as you are tripping balls.
"That'd be much easier if I wasn't freaking the fuck out ma'am. You've got tentacles going to my fucking brain!"
"Relax trooper. That's an order." The Discipline Master demanded.
Oh gee, yea, thanks. The Emperor's executioner wants me to relax, that sure is fucking helpful.
"You're making it worse Blackheart. I can tell he doesn't mean to resist, but his mind is like a cornered rabbit or like one of those small dogs the nobles keep that are always barking at strangers."
"Can you read his surface thoughts?"
"I can, but it won't be pleasant for him."
The discipline master takes a deep breath and looks into your eyes.
"Do it."

"This will be easier for both of us if you calm down young man."
You feel these strange tendrils squeeze inside you, as if, tugging at places that you never knew you had as you slightly panic in your chair, like an Ogryn inside a dark room.
"Let's start from the beginning. You claim to have destroyed to have swum through-"
"He did." The woman said immediately
"And he is disgustingly proud of the fact."
"...moving on, the sonic-"
"Also, yes."
"408 ships too?"
"....yes? Wait, what?" The woman exclaims
"The part about you crashing a stolen thunderbolt to the Administrative spire?"
"Wow, really? Yes, definitely."
"Let's make this easier. Are there any lies on this report you filed?"
You suddenly felt this strange feeling, as if being thrown into a tub of writhing insects, except you weren't wearing your skin. It was a difficult sensation to describe, but without a doubt an unpleasant one.
"The report was true by his mind and... He is laughing inside his mind, scared, but laughing. As if, that's not the whole story."
"When I say the word Alpharius, what comes to his mind?"
"Draws a blank."
"Figures."

The Discipline Master signals something to the woman behind you as he lights a lho-cigar.
"So, psychic profile?"
"Small and dense with occasional bright flashes of emotion bursting out. Great highs, great lows. Kind of like an, like an Ogryn in a way."
"So not due for the black ships?"
"Oh no. He's definitely a lower end of Rho. He's about psychically aware as a sack of taters, even if his psychic presence has a nice aura, there's not a lot going on up there."
"That's good enough for me Sildis, you're dismissed."
You hear the woman walk away as you start to recovered from the traumatizing experience of your first actual psyker encounter.
There were stories about their kind back in your home world. If one was born, you had to toss them down to the clouds, or they'd bring down the whole installation with the first temper tantrum.

"Master Chirurgeon, give me the bloodworks. Thorough as you can make it. I want to know what drugs he has been taking and whatever mutations he is hiding, if any."
A rasping voice came behind a voidsuit as the bony hand if an older woman was replaced with that of an old soldier.
"Understood Sir. Don't worry rookie, this is considerably more normal than what you just went through." He says giving you a tap on the shoulder as his mechadendrite sneakily pokes you into the side, swiftly drawing a vial of blood.
"Ow!?"
"You'll live sonny, just got to have a look what's been going on in your kidneys, and..."
He taps his wrist mounted data-terminal a few times.
"...Looks like you're clean as a whistle. Keep it up."
"No traces of illicit narcotics, stimulants or mutation?"
"Nope, he's as healthy as a horse. Virtually non-existent deviation from baseline average and no signs of gene-therapy or traces of narcotic usage. Slightly closer to eugenic armies with certain recessive flaws having seemingly been bred out."
"And that's your official statement?"
"It is. I checked the equipment this morning as I always do. If you wish for a more detailed mapping of his genetic traits, a more detailed study would be requires."
"That won't be necessary. Dismissed Master Chirurgeon."
The discipline masters gives you a short glance before he starts typing something on his cogitator as you sat on your chair and he smoked. After few minutes of suspense he turns towards you, ceasing his work.

"You've now officially undergone mental screening, a psychic profile test, drug test as well as a genetic purity test in he presence of a regimental Discipline Master, an Astropath and a Master Chirurgeon, Imperial peers all. We have examined you and determined you meet the Imperial standards adequately enough to continue your service."
"Err.... What does that mean, Sir?"
"It means you get to collect your paycheck and serve the rest of your term. What you did in Hive Vesser will for the time being remain classified however until the Marshal decides otherwise. Take this document and proceed to the merit officer. Your escorts will take you there. Dismissed."
He then resumes working on his cogitator as you inch away to the door, shutting it behind you, slightly confused on what happened, leaving your escorts to guide you to an another part of the compound.
>>
[3]

When you reached the merit officer's office, you had to wait. A lot. Not in a queue, no, the man just went through an obacene amount of paperwork in front of you double-checking a lot of stuff, getting reports, verifications from other branches of service.
"There's still some stuff pending, but we've got most of it verified. I hope you won't give me this sort of backlog next time. You'll be seeing your payment on your account by the end of the day."

After a brief ceremony, the merit officer pinned some medals on your chest, and you traded in your officer stripes for specialist ones. Even though you had been kicked out of the Black Ops and stripped of your rank as Junior Sergeant, technically you still got a promotion.

Specialist 1st Class outranks a Junior Sergeant by a fair bit, well in terms of pay and pensions anyway and you being taken more seriously than them, not in terms of them necessarily having to salute you as you went past.

After the whole thing was said and done, you were issued a week of R&R, with only light duty permitted. You could probably apply for full-blown leave if you wanted to. Sure as shit had earned it, but it seemed that they hadn't yet gotten around to deciding what to do with you, as there were no dispatch orders as yet.

What had, however, turned up was something else entirely? You were formally invited to a celebration within the Governor's palace. Not exactly something you'd get to readily refuse. It's not like attendance is said to be mandatory, but it's one of those things where it's implied that it totally is.

This means... ironing out your dress uniform.

> As a reward for fully completing Operation Archangel, I'm going to be generous and say that you picked up a thing or two in your mission.

Select two:
> Bolt Weapon Training
> Ambidextrous (can dual wield without penalty)
> Athletics Training
> Concealment Training
> Bulging biceps (+20 to heft action and no need to brace heavy weapons to fire. Does not come with heavy weapons training)
>>
>>4849381
Does Bulging Biceps tie into being able to rip apart Baneblades in any way? Is it a prerequisite for any worthwhile traits?
>>
>>4849381
> Athletics Training
> Tech Training
For if/when we want to hack things, and for that superior dodging sentinel down the line.
>>
>>4849387
Tech?
>>
>>4849385
I mean there's a lot of prerequisites for getting to that. Feat of Strength is locked behind that, but fi you're talking about the unarmed stuff, you're still gonna need a fair bit more agility and several talents to actually consider being able to punch tanks to death.

>>4849387
You didn't do enough tech stuff to actually warrant me giving that to you. 99% of the operation was sneaking or brute force. Only reason bolt stuff is in there is because you got fired by them so much.
>>
>>4849389
Whatever is the closest approximation?
>picked up a thing or two in your mission.
Oh. Never mind me then.

>>4849381
> Athletics Training

We need to learn how to dodge better eventually, and I'm hoping bulging muscles will one day allow us to throw tanks.
>>
>>4849392
I see.

>>4849381

Going for that sneaky murderhobo look. Also to eventually be able to RIP & TEAR a Baneblade in half with our bare hands (which is mechanically possible btw).
>>

What additional armor do we get from carrying around a shield, and how much damage can a shield bash do?

Depends on the shield, but if you carry one, I just have to roll either called shots or determine hit location randomly.

They tend to give somewhere between 1-4 AP to torso and the arm they are carried in. Even ones that don't, still make parrying easier.

Guys why do you want +20 to lifting things? That seems really specific and I dont understand why it would be more useful than athletics training which would remove a -10 on all athletic shit.

Ambidexterous is a good step towards duel wielding thunderhammers and throwing knives though.

>>
>>4849511
Concealment is disproportionately more useful when you are performing solo operations as your squad also needs to pass sneak tests which aren't best out of three.

Arens strongsuit isnt thinking anyway. Just pump more iron and hope for the best. Plus this way we can intimidate people by holding them up with one hand. Coincidentally, how heavy is a SM in power armour?
>>
>>4849551
Lore is quite inconsistent on that, but I'm gonna say a terminator is like 700-800kg range and regular marines are probably like 250-300kg range.
>>
>>4849557
So we can soon lift one up with a single hand. Neato!
>>

Isn't plasteel like stronger than hardened steel and much more durable and lighter? So it may depend on like say a SM chapters armor configuration and personals input from the user along with what they decide to put on or change for a mission?
>>

Oh yea, but marines themselves are considerably heavy as well and they carry a lot of gear, so you probably could go over double of what is listed if you include the inventory.

As you ironed out the fresh dress uniform provided to you in the hotel room, you noticed that you've recently been putting on some bulk. Odd, considering you ate virtually zero protein during the whole operation. Maybe that's just one of those things you can do now? Not having to worry about muscle atrophy?

Tomorrow you'd be wearing this thing for some fancy noble dinner party. Never really been in one of those, hardly know how to act. Well, guess it's something to do till the next mission, albeit honestly? Fancy as all these honors and ceremonies are, they get kind of tiresome after a while.

The old regiment took all that out of combat pomp and ceremony stuff way too seriously. Hours of parades whenever they could, massive assemblies for medals, marching bands, shine your boots for everything and all that groxshit. Yea, looks nice. Not so nice when you're the one who has to make it happen and the weather is shit.

There. All done.
You had the rest of the day off (and the night, since sleeping was kind of optional nowadays). Your house arrest had been lifted, ever since the Discipline Master gave you the A-OK.
Granted, this also meant that you'd have to give up your hotel room soon and go back to regular barrack accommodations.

Still, you had some free time and that's what was important. A couple of things on your 'to-do' list.

You took off into the hive, looking for the familiar symbols of the hat trade organization. You in fact, found several guidelines. Unfortunately, in most cases the terminal had been destroyed, removed or just melted for whatever reason.

Eventually though, you found an intact terminal on a particularly shady and smelly corner of the hive. Had to move several levels down, but it was there. As you plugged, the device to a power socket, it froze up for a while.

There seems to be something wrong with this unit. The screen does not seem to want to turn on even after you input your access codes. Maybe it needs some help?

> TLDR

As you hit Y, the screen turned red with all sorts of fucked up symbols going up and down it, each hurting your eyes as the screen's contrast starts burning the symbols into your retinas.

Well, they would if you weren't wearing sunglasses almost all the time. The machine begins making some freaky, low rung chanting noise as the screen starts melting to slag before finally turning silent

You had no idea what just happened.
A rogue AI? A malicious dataworm? Psychic bullshit? Issues with a warpstorm? Whatever it was, that was probably the reason why the other terminals were either removed or destroyed. This of course meant that buying and selling hats was likely going to have to be done in the usual way.

Probably some asshole with proficiency in messing with cogitators for burned by the random boxes and decided to get back on those guys. Pretty bad idea, considering that the guys who run this business are rogue traders and other powerful individuals. Whoever is responsible, just made a lot of powerful enemies.

Oh well, if you can't do the hat stuff, then you can't do it.

>>

>>
>>4850197
Lorgar is still better than Angron as a character, even if his storyline doesn't make too much sense, he still deserves credit for conquering a chaos infested world and comvincing them to worship he one true god of humanity instead without a shot fired.

Lorgar is a massive nerd who sucks so much that even with daemonic empowerment he still gets his shit pushed in by bird boy.
>>
>>4850149
> Ask for leave so you can go and pay back for the horse
>Bang the colonels daughters.
>>
>>4850215
To be fair, Angron lacks a personality. The man lack half his brain, and the other half is saturated with electroshock 24/7. He is just berserker rage and impulses caused by the very obvious Khornate influence, nothing more. That's a very low bar to surpass as a Primarch, and logar barely does so by being an abused choir boy that was raised by a Mega Chaos cultist and had that shit ingrained in him permanently. Every Primarch is an aspect of Emps, Lorgar is the Emperor's Faith, and the man was the biggest atheist ever, that's why he is so phisically weak but has such a high Charisma stat.
>>
>>4850197
He is a bitch, he lost everything, made everyone lose everything and now is afraid of going our of his bitch tower because bird boy is going toslaughter him if he does. And any SM empowered by chaos as much as the Word Bearers would be terrifiying, yet his children still suck and are unremarkable. So ye, he won, loads and loads of literal ruin at the cost of his soul, mind, ego and his achievements, what a victory.
>>
> Ask for leave so you can go and pay back for the horse
>Bang the colonels daughters

plural, also i say we use our new money to get the Colenels daughters a nice little ship or space on our big transport to sell their horses throughout the stars
>>
>>4850261
There is the meme again.

He had his faith taken from him, so he found a new faith and over 10k years later he turned his father's atheist empire into a theocratic empire constantly fighting against HIS faith of the chaos gods, making the sum total of humanity cultists of one or the other. That is a victory.

He is one of the foundational lords of chaos and has risen to the highest stations possible by mortal men in that faith. That is victory.

And physically he is a pushover on primarch standards yet in ritual magic he is equal or superior to Magnus. Colour me suprised, the person who never wanted to fight is bad at fighting demigods of war, specifically the child who grew up in the wild murdering chaos spawn. But a single word is enough to strike most mortals and marines dead and a single ritual can paralysed sectors. Forgive me for thinking that he is pathetic, but maybe you also consider alpharius a pussy because Russ can beat him in a straight fight.

And regarding the WBs, they are one of two legions still going strong and still the most united, followed by the three split Deathguard. With their "unremarkable" children including Erebus, Argen tal and Marduk. I guess Kor phaeton too.

Personality wise, he is a pitiful attention seeking bastard who grew into a hateful and vindictive cunt. But he is not weak or stupid and I really wish that people would recognise that.
He gets done almost as bad as magnus.

> Make a leave application
> Just do whatever

You'll need to get your duffel bag and such from the Rodgers's place and pay for your horse, so you file a request for some personal leave, which promptly was granted.

You have seven days off after the Governor's party, after which you are to report back to an officer in Hive Vector. You would need to figure out transportation though, but worst case scenario, you could always just buy a used car or something, provided you couldn't get public transport going there.

Whilst waiting for the formal occasion, you pretty much just did whatever. Lounging on the hotel room, drinking recaf, reading newspapers and paid a quick visit to the gym.

> Imperial Victory in the North! Is Vesser out of the war?!?
Dear readers, soldier and civilian, I bring upon you wondrous news!
Approximately 48 hours ago, the Self Appointed Lord Mayor of Hive Vesser, Rufus Malitabe along with his most trusted generals were delivered to Vector Authorities by a lone Solar Auxilia operative whose identity thus far remains classified.

This event followed the daring raid on Vesser shipping from which lead to the complete and utter lockdown of the hive as the rebel forces failed on every level to halt the Auxilia advance.

Solar Marshal Serjante comments thusly.
"The Varangon Tagmata has always been a military organization which took pride on it's fidelity and initiative. An opportunity was seen, and duly exploited. That is all."
Humble words from one of the finest military minds in this segmentum.

According to experts in Vector Government, for hive Vesser to pose a threat in the near future to our military, they must first march their troops by land through a difficult terrain and a hail of artillery. A frightful prospect any soldier could tell you.

Shocking images from the scene revealing the truth on the sheer disregard Vesser leadership has for their men on page 10! Viewer discretion is advised.

> Hive Ontos reopens diplomatic channels
Followed by the stunning defeat on Hive Vesser, diplomats from the wavering Hive Ontos have arrived to negotiate with the Vector Planetary Government. Could these talks see them return to the fold, or is this hollow posturing by rebel leaders?

> Hive Suntris complicated proceeding on schedule

The were probably replaced by the Alpha legion I guess, so they genetically weren’t the «true» leaders, but were de facto the leaders of the rebellions, the real leaders might not even have wanted to rebel in the first place, but since they are probably dead, who cares what they thought?

> Continuing on

[1/2]

After spending the night of trying out sleeping again for a change (an activity you are slowly starting to find as overrated), you had a big day ahead of you. Evening of wining and dining with the bigwigs of the planet.

Well, not that eating was really necessary for you, or drinking for that matter. You hadn't really gotten hungry or thirsty either ever since you woke up from the morgue. Still, that didn't mean you didn't still enjoy a good meal.

As you were checking whatever meager belongings were issued to you during your stay at the hotel and getting ready to move to your new temporary barrack habitation, you heard a knock on the door.

Behind it was a heavily augmented woman with raven hair and no nonsense attitude. Soon as you opened the door, she let herself in.
"Iterator Odessa, I trust you are The Aren Seion?"
"Yup, the one and only." You replied, unperturbed of this sudden violation of privacy.
"I am here to give you the briefing regarding today's party." She says, as she observes your hotel room, as if trying to find something wrong with it.
You give a deep sigh as you roll your eyes.
"Look Lady, I haven't gotten any notifications from the higher ups on a mission, so-"
"This is about context. About what you are and aren't allowed to say."
You shrug
"Whatever, it's not like anyone would be interested on some random trooper anyway."
"You're joking? The entire point of this party is to parade you around and make the Solar Auxilia, and the governor look good."
"Wow, thanks for telling me at the last moment."
"I am very busy, so we'll have to keep this short. Under no circumstance are you to mention that Vesser leaders were fakes."
"Ok, but why though?"
"So we can further sow the seeds of doubt even if they weren't body doubles?"
"Right. So the VIPs were real. Got it."
"Secondly, you are under no circumstances to mention the involvement of the Astartes. This would give the rebels unnecessary credibility, considering the reputation of your branch of service."
"Right, right. Anything else about mission details or something?"
"Try not to talk about the Veteran project going on in the North. That card hasn't been played yet and we don't want to show our hand yet."

No, Astartes stuff, nothing about the fakes and nothing about the Rodgers estate.
"So, what should I talk about then? Myself?"
"Feel free to talk about your attack on Hive Vesser, that would make for a riveting story I'm sure. Alternatively, just do some small talk that will bore everyone. I can definitely work with that. We don't really need audio."
"Right... So basically, smile, shake hands and look pretty."
"Great! You understand quick. I'll have the servants keep an eye on you during the party and pull you away if it looks like you're about to embarrass yourself."
"Yea, okay I guess."
She rolls her eyes, as if assuming she'll need to work extra hard to keep you from fucking up.
"Well, try not to overwork the staff too hard. We're done here."

Part 2

As she left with her PDF escorts, she moved in a way that angry, stressed out women in their menopause often would. Didn't really know what her problem was, didn't really care.

You simply grabbed your shit, which mostly just consisted of a set of change clothes some stolen hats, grooming kit and stolen bars of soap. Why steal bars of soap? Because they were going to throw them away anyway, and you can use them in the field.

---

You are currently at the barracks of Varangon Tagamata in Hive Vector. There's plenty of soldiers around either sleeping or just loafing around, reading and doing casual stuff like that.

Everyone's got some reasonably high-end dataslates, watches and personal effects here. Well, about as high-end as you can get in the hive. Recaf may have gotten expensive in the hive, but the brand name stuff was still flowing in the communal kitchen. The perks of being a mercenary.

As you walked in, you got some looks, probably for the medals you got going on. Plenty of these guys seemed to be old timers, with only about half of them rookies like you. Some of them were polishing shoes, possibly had been called to the party as well.

After taking a free bed and a locker for yourself, you tossed your unnecessary possessions to storage and sat down. There was some time to kill until you'd be picked up for the evening, because yea, that's a thing.

So, you go about the barracks asking around if anyone knows, Glen, Jurric or Klaus. You get some weird looks about the last one, but you eventually find someone who knows something.

"Klaus? Yea, I know him. Been under his command ever since my squad's got shuffled in his pack, after Bennie and Samson died on duty after eating bolter fire. Why do you want to know?"
"Has he ever told of the whole orbital re-entry thing? I was with that party, went way off the course with my escape pod. The names Aren Seion."
He looks at you a bit, mulling things over as he is burning through an excessively thick cigar.
"Aren... Aren..."
He then notices the two twin aces on your shoulder, underneath your rank.
"Holy shit. You're Iron Seion. The rookie who captured the Rebel Generals and everything?"
"Yea sounds like something I did, so how is old Klaus doing?"
"Ah, you know, tough old killer. You got to be in that hellhole, used to feel iffy about working with an ex-con as CO, but better that than dead. Got all cybered up in Suntris, apparently some friends with mechanicum or something, but you'd probably know more about that than me."
"So things are bad in Suntris?"
"Bolters, Autocannons and Heavy Stubbers fucking suck when you're in urban war and the guys have a lot of them. Also, they've got more air support, which has made it hell to move the tanks around. Been commissioning AA left and right, but there's still going to be casualties. They're also not running low on artillery shells."
He blows some smoke from his cigar.
"Seen a lot of good men die. Mostly loyal PDF though. Unlike us, they still get chewed up by a stray autogun shot. We're pushing through and winning, but they're making us pay for our victories. Still trying to consolidate and break through to the fucking hive I reckon. Fortified the underwater tunnels to all hell."
"Yea, shit sucks. About my old squad mates though, you know Glen Vanjones or Jurric?"
"Oh yea, you mean Klaus' medic buddy, right? Glen Sawbones?"
"Sounds about right. How is he doing?"
"Oh you know, same old. Fairly sane all things considered, and I didn't lose a leg thanks to him. I think he was sweet on some girl that got took a mortar fragment to the face. Now he's hanging a lot with the rest of the... Errr... Superstitious types, if you catch my drift."
"You mean the Di-"
"Atatatatata! Don't ask, don't tell."
"Right. So, what about Jurric? You know anything about him?"
He thinks for a moment, wondering whether he has ever heard the name.
"Used to be part of the old squad with me, Glen and Klaus, feudal worlder who does melee stuff with a shield? Likes to leave behind graffiti?"
You draw up a quick sketch, showing an example how he used to lambast his hated enemies from his homeworld.

The soldier furrows his brow, trying to jostle his memory.
"I'm not entirely sure. I mean, I think I've seen a couple of those around before I got put up with Klaus, but haven't seen any since. Maybe he got transferred or wounded or..."
"Or?"
"You know how it is with the melee types. Shine twice as bright and live half as long. It's war and people die. You could always check if his name is on the black wall, although, you know. I wouldn't. I prefer not knowing if my friends have died."
"...yea, I can understand that. Got to live your life and all that."
"Yup."

Not his department. He's a grunt and any planetary investments will be of questionable value if you aren't gonna be sticking here till the end of your tour of duty.
>>
If we want to invest, I suggest we wait until we can meet the techpriest we saved and invest in a forge world, if there’s one thing in the Imperium that is always working, it’s those.

Forge Worlds aren't exactly publicly traded companies.
>>
>>4851939
Invest in mines they buy from or something.
>>
>>4851974
How? You mean buy land from a planetary governor and then sell the ore you extracted from the soil to the local starport?

You're still like almost 10 years away from ending your term of service and have zero training in matters of administration.
>>
>>4851974
Nah, I think a better stock is in expanding merchant fleets. But we may need more Capitol for that.
>>
or we just go all in and buy hints and maps on planets for STC or archeotech locations from sailors and locals. Cause why not right

We can just ask a cogitator or something.
>>
>>4852140
Sounds like a good way to get ripped off.
>>
>>4852041
Not necessarily, buying a share on profits of a merchant fleet is totally doable because it helps the dynasty in charge of the venture to deal with the risks of Warp travel better.

Imperial economy is closer to 1700's than it is to 2020, because the trade works more like how tallships of old did, with ships sinking in storms and so on.
The worlds are mostly built with self-sufficiency in mind too because of that.
>>
There's virtually zero risk free investment in the galaxy, unless we're talking about land in the core systems of the Imperium, but as you might have guessed it, everyone else knows this as well, meaning it may sometimes take generations for a family to recoup the losses of purchasing land on the safest parts of the galaxy, and even then it's only a guarantee of a stiff military respond when shit goes down.

> Tell him to day hi to Klaus and ask him to send a postcard
> Check the black wall

"Listen, I don't know where I'm going to get deployed, so if you could just say hi to him for me when you see him and, I don't know, ask him to send a picture of his new augs I guess?"
"Yea, sure thing. I'll tell him to send a card down here to the capital when I get back. They'll probably figure it out."
"Thanks man."
"It's Greg"
"Yea, thanks Greg. I think I'll go check out the Black Wall and see if Jurric's in there. Oh right, you can tell Klaus that I ran into Sneeb in the northern front. Doing reasonably well for himself he is."
"Right, I'll write that down because I'm going to get very drunk tonight. Good luck with the thing."

As he bid you farewell, you started heading towards the memorial site for the fallen. It honestly wasn't much, just a decorated black screen covering the entire wall in a massive hall with names rolling down it on alphabetical order.

Every single one of these soldiers would get their names inscribed in a great stone wall at the throneworld by the square of Senatorum Imperialis. Or so they said, this wasn't exactly something anyone you knew could confirm, but it was a nice sentiment.

You occasionally wondered how would one go about writing down several hundred million names in stone and how much room would that even take, not that you yourself were eager to have your name up there, it just seemed hard to grasp.

There were many visitors there, mostly women, children comrades and loved ones who'd see if someone they knew had met his untimely end.

It wasn't uncommon to bring your family to war, well your wife anyway. Some wed during deployment whilst others brought their significant others to the stars. Family was as good a thing as any to spend one's hard-earned money on, after all.

Upon seeing your uniform, one of the women asked if you had been deployed to Suntris. As you shook your head, she returned to the screen.

There were already thousands of names in the wall, which was kind of expected. You were around a million strong when you came here. A percentage or two dead to secure a major foothold was still winning the war. The PDF numbers likely were considerably higher, both ally and enemy.

There was a tinge of pride in your breast as you considered the number of comrades who'd stay off the black wall another day thanks to your actions in Hive Vesser. Soldiers might be expendable, but their actions still have meaning.

As you looked to the large screen, you saw the J's scroll down and...
>>
>>4853024
Looks like the mad man lives another day.
>>
.... nothing. Guess he's just MIA or doing his own thing. Huh.

You were uncertain what to make of that. The Black Wall only showed those who were confirmed dead, it showed nothing else. Hard to say what to think about that. Maybe he's alright, maybe just forgotten.

Well, it is what it is. He's a grown man and can take care of himself, and we all knew the risks when we signed up for this. Good on him if he's alive, sucks if he isn't.

Leaving the Black Wall behind, your mind wandered. Some people died from slipping in the shower, meanwhile you've been shot, dropped from orbit, slashed, gutted, decapitated, and you don't even have a scar on you.

Guess you're one of the lucky ones, like the guys who walk through no-man's-land without getting shot or hit by artillery shells even in the middle of a full on barrage. Only difference is you can get hit, but you'll get back up again.

Well, better not think about it too hard. There's still a war to win, and you can either carry around angst or ammunition. 9+ years of service to go, after that you can mope as much as you like on your giant pile of money.

Luckily, the governor should have plenty of booze at his party to haze you out of all this stuff. Sure as shit going to guilt-trip him if he's not willing to buy a soldier a drink.

Just have to strut around and look handsome.

We should start carrying around money, like let's say we have 100 000 or something we can spend on whatever so we can do stuff like that one scoutmaster did.

Just pull out your credit card and say "I'd like a land rover" or something.

Find a working hat vending machine.
Maybe chat up a rouge trader or two.
>>
>>4853161
The vending machines are all broken or chaos tainted man.

And no RT is gonna be here.
>>
>>4853165
Not even at the party?

We have to find a working machine on a higher level.
>>
>>4853170
If at the party, we wont find them prior.

But you are right that they may be here off some war profiteering, but I would doubt it.
>>
>>4853161
Rogue Traders are waaaaay above you in terms of who you can talk to, even if there was any of them around when the warpstorms showed up.

To be honest, if one was in system, they likely would have made a competitive offer to deal with the rebel problem, meaning you wouldn't even be here.
>>
>>4853191
I dunno about that.

RT's ain't got the sort of manpower that our battle group does, typically. If he was one of those on the scale of Winterscale then you'd have a point but those are the rare sort.
>>
>>4853198
Well, he'd most likely work as a middleman to get something done, not like rogue traders roam the galaxy with massive armies like you do.
>>
>>4853204
My point exactly. Legal Pirate princes ain't got the power or drive to stop this succession issue unless they have a tongue of platinum.

Better to hire an armed battle group. More reliable results.
>>
>>4853207
Yea, just saying, if they could have made a profit by arranging their ships to transport fucktons of cheap mercs or simply put enough aircraft and tanks to offset the gear difference, they probably would have done it.
