Your carriage pulls in through the gates of Garreg Mach Monastery. The Monastery lies in the center of the continent of Fodlan, in-between the Empire, the Kingdom, and the Alliance. It serves as the headquarters of the Church of Seiros, lead by the Archbishop Rhea, as well as the Officers Academy.

Admission to the school requires a hefty fee, and as such, the student body is primarily made up of nobles and royalty from each of the three countries of Fodlan, who have sent their heirs here to learn the art of warfare.
There are a few special cases of commoners that are enrolled, those such as yourself who were lucky enough to receive the aid of a patron, or the children of wealthy merchants. Generally though, Commoners are few and far between.

This year’s crop of students have the unique distinction of containing the heirs of all three countries of Fodlan, including, from what you have gathered, the daughter of the Adrestian Empire, of which you hail.

As you enter the courtyard, you see students of both genders milling about. Some of them are standing around, fidgeting nervously and waiting for the Academy’s Headmaster to greet the crowd. Others are standing in groups, laughing, and speaking about their expectations and hopes for the upcoming semester.

Shouldering your simple bag of belongings, you scan the crowd and notice three students who are standing alone. According to the guard that checked you in, there is still some time before Headmaster Seteth addresses you. Why not kill some time?

You decide speaking with someone your own gender might be easier and approach the attractive brunette. Walking casually up to her, you give her a wave and introduce yourself.

“Ahh a fellow commoner! And from the Empire no less! You’re a sight for sore eyes. My name is Dorothea Arnault, a pleasure to meet you!”

“Honey, everyone can tell. These stuck-up rich kids are used to doing everything through seven layers of protocol and formality. They would never think to just walk up to another human and say hello.”

Dorothea smiles at you and pats your arm.

“Don’t worry about it. That’s what we’re here for after all isn’t it? Besides, not everyone here is the type to sneer at you because of your status back home. Everyone at Garreg Mach, regardless of background is equal. That means even people like us can work hand-in-hand with people like Edie.”

“Hmm? Oh you know, Edie! Edelgard von Hresvelg. She’s poised to take over the Empire soon, but for now she’s the house leader of the Black Eagles house.”

“Hey, have you thought about which student house you want to join? You should consider joining the Black Eagles! It’s full of kids from the Empire, though right now I’m the only commoner. It’d be nice to have someone like you around!

You tell Dorothea that you appreciate the offer, but you’ll want to think it over first. After all, choosing your student house can be an important step in your development at the Officers Academy. You’re cautious about rushing into the Black Eagles just because it’s the most familiar to you.

“Ahh, I see.” says Dorothea, with a hint of disappointment in her voice. “Well if you change your mind, you know where to find me! And keep in mind that you’re not necessarily locked into whichever Student House you pick. You can always join one of the other two later on during the year.”

A sudden commotion signals that the Headmaster of the Academy, Seteth, will be arriving to address the crowd shortly.

“Oh! Looks like we’ll be starting soon. I’m gonna go meet up with the rest of my house mates.” Dorothea cups your hands in hers and gives you a wink. “Don’t be a stranger, now!”

You watch her run off and meet up with two other students across the courtyard. One of them seems to be a noble with stark orange hair and an impeccable uniform. However, it’s the other girl that catches your eye. Her features and brown skin signals her to you as a native of Brigid. The same country that killed your father.

You meander back to the center of the courtyard and look ahead to the stage, where the Knights of Seiros are forming. Several of them are flanking a tall, green haired man in an ornate, blue uniform. You quickly put together that this must be Seteth.

The headmaster speaks in a booming voice, that carries out to the hundreds of students that are currently packed into the courtyard.

Many of you come from different corners of the world. Some of you are the heirs to noble houses centuries old. Some of you bear the Crests of the 10 Elites who helped forge this land. And some of you have nothing but your strength, intellect and determination.”

“I ask that all of you, regardless of your nation, origin, status or religion, put aside your differences and work together this year! Learn how to dominate your foes with the brutal magic of the Empire. Learn the meaning of knightly chivalry that sets the Kingdom’s Knights apart from all others. Learn how the Alliance’s prowess with the bow helped forge a nation. Only by uniting together will you set the standard by which Fodlan will be ruled and ensure that peace and prosperity will continue to reign true!”

Many of the students in the crowd begin cheering and hollering at Seteth’s words, though there are certainly a few that aren’t particularly enthused to be sharing the same roof as commoners and foreigners.

After the headmaster’s words are concluded, many of the students begin filing away into one of three sections of the courtyard. It appears that most of the students have made up their mind about which House they will be joining. You think back to the Headmaster’s words. During your training at Rusalka’s court, you touched upon all manners of weaponry. Swords, spears, lances and axes, you even learned how to fire a bow. That’s not to mention your experience with Magic, of which the Count particularly excelled in.

You begin to ponder on which house you’ll want to join for the start of the school year, and more importantly, which aspect of your training you’ll want to focus on.

You decide to join the Black Eagles House. If your adopted father, Count Rusalka found out that you had a chance to serve the future Adrestian Emperor and chose not to, you fear the potential repercussions may be dire.

You mill over to the section of the courtyard designated for the Black Eagles, signified by the large red and black banners hanging from the wall. A large crowd of students is gathered around a white-haired girl, each of them trying harder than their neighbor to gain her attention, while a stern looking boy with black hair ensures no one gets too close.

The rumors are true. Edelgard von Hresvelg herself is attending the same school as you. At first glance you can hardly believing this is the girl that will soon inherit the strongest military on the continent. Standing at about 5’2, she’s only slightly taller than you. However, on closer inspection, it is easy to notice she was positively bred for rulership. Her imposing and refined stance, coupled with her piercing violet eyes; the future Empress strikes you as a girl that always gets her way.

Eventually, the crowd around Edelgard disperses enough for you to make your way to the front and introduce yourself. Getting on one knee and placing your arm across your chest, you address her:

>”My lady, my name is Blair d’Rusalka. If it would please your grace, please allow me to join the Black Eagle house and serve you diligently.”

As you go over in your head whether that was the proper greeting for high nobility, you are surprised to feel hands grasping your shoulders and lifting you to your feet. You’re suddenly staring directly face to face with Edelgard herself.

“Please Blair, you heard the Headmaster. Here at the academy, we’re one in the same. Please don’t treat me like royalty, but as just another student, same as you.” She smiles.

>”Y-yes your grace…I mean…Edelgard” you manage to stammer, clearly taken aback by the situation.

“Tell me about yourself Blair, I didn’t know that Count Rusalka had any children that were of schooling age still.” Edelgard says, studying you closely.

>”Ah well…I’m not actually of Rusalka blood. I was adopted as the Count’s ward. He sent me to the Academy so that I may one day serve him and his family as a knight.

“Ahh! So you’re not actually of the nobility then?” Edelgard says. You feel her studying you even closer now, but with no hostile intent. Her exclamation causes some of the Black Eagle students that are standing nearby to murmur in disapproval upon learning of your status.

>”That is correct, your Gr-…Edelgard.”

The future Empress smiles at you. “Admittance to the Officers Academy is no small feat. Count Rusalka must have great confidence in your ability to warrant sending you all the way here. I’m happy to have you in my house, Blair. I’ll be watching your progression with great interest.”

With that, she pats your shoulder and walks away. The black-haired man from before follows alongside her, sparing you a disinterested glance before following along.

You look back at the remaining Black Eagles students still milling about. Some of them are looking at you with distaste, others with open hostility. You’re used to receiving such glances from nobles back during your time at Rusalka’s court. You’re confident that you’ve received far more martial training than most of these pampered pups. You think about saying something when suddenly you feel arms wrap around your torso from behind, followed by a girlish yelp.

“Blairy! You actually did it! I’m so excited! And here I was thinking I’d have to share a dorm room all to myself!”

You recognize the voice as Dorothea, clearly eager to see she will no longer be the only commoner studying in the Black Eagles.

“Come on, let’s get out of here and take a nice walk around the Monastery!”

Thanks. I plan to move some stuff around. The quest won't be an exact retelling of 3H, but rather Blair's own quest and how it intercedes with the 3H cast and Fodlan at large. The academy phase will seem pretty similar, but I expect we'll divert course at some point.

Her growth rates are pretty high yeah (although still somewhat lower than certain 3H characters). I wanted her to be a bit balanced but have good offensive capabilities so we can play around with what we class her into. Eventually though I intend her to be balanced around not having a Crest. I always thought given the stark contrast in the 3H story between nobility with Crests and everyone else, it was weird that characters without them could be just as strong as those with. Once Relic Weapons come in to play here, you can expect Crest Bearers to have stat boosts akin to Holy Blood from Genealogy of the Holy War. You'll probably really want to avoid them on the battlefield.

You smile at Dorothea, relieved to see a friendly face.

The brunette wraps her arm around yours and leads you out of the courtyard. You hear the raucous laughter of the nobles behind you but you pay it no mind. The year is just starting, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to really make them aware of just how different you are.

>”Thanks for bailing me out of there.”

“Oh? Was it that obvious? Well in any case, don’t let them bother you. It doesn’t matter what they think about us. Edie’s given us both her seal of approval. Now let’s work hard this year and show them what we’re made of!”

You smile and nod. You’re glad that Dorothea was the person you chose to walk up to.

The two of you walk around the monastery, familiarizing yourselves with the Mess Hall, the Greenhouse, The Lake and finally, the Tournament Grounds. As you enter the Tournament Grounds, Dorothea spots two figures ahead and calls out to them. You recognize the first girl as the brown-skinned Brigidian you had seen earlier. The other boy is new, sporting a sleeveless vest and light blue hair. Upon seeing Dorothea, he runs up to her excitedly.

“Dorothea! Are you here to spar too? Me and Petra were looking to have a practice fight before the big Mock Battle this month! Huh, who’s your friend?”

“Geeze Caspar, you’re getting all worked up and it’s only Day One. No, I didn’t come here to fight and get all gross. I’m showing my friend Blair around. She’ll be joining the Black Eagles as of today.”

The boy known as Caspar sizes you up and extends his hand out for a fist bump.

The name Bergliez rings a bell. It’s a territory not to far off from Rusalka. The Count Bergliez rules over the Empire’s Ministry of Military Affairs, and is one of the most powerful people in the Empire, behind only arguably the Prime Minister. And this wild-mannered boy must be his son.

The Brigidian girl walks up to you and gives a practiced, if not stiff bow. She addresses you in a thick accent.

“Yes…it is my pleasure to greet with you as well. I am Petra.” She says.

You’re a little taken aback by her words until Dorothea steps in and explains that Petra is a princess of Brigid, and as such, hasn’t quite mastered the language of Fodlan yet. Ever since losing the Dagda and Brigid War, Brigid became a vassal state of the Empire. You always knew there were foreigners enrolled at the Officers Academy…but to think the princess of the nation that killed your father would be enrolled here as well…

>”Y-yes…a pleasure to meet the two of you. You mentioned a mock battle?”

Caspar pipes up, clearly excited to explain.

“You didn’t hear? During the beginning of each year, all three houses break off into individual teams and square off in a small mock battle. It’s not as grand as the Battle of the Eagle and Lion later on during the year, but it’s the first real fight we get to have here! Me and Petra were gonna have ourselves a quick spar to get ready, but we’re happy to include you if you want!”

Felix is also way up on my shitlist. You look at Caspar, flash him a slight smile, and agree to have a spar.

“Alright!” Caspar says excitedly. “There’s some training weapons over to the side of the dueling area. Grab whatever you like.”

The boy rushes off and you see him grab a rather large Training Axe. You’ve had training with a variety of weapons, but you decide to settle on a rather durable looking Training Sword for the time being. You and Caspar both take your respective sides of the dueling area, brandish your weapons, and wait for Petra’s signal to begin the bout.

“Go get em Blairy!” yells Dorothea from the observer section.

“Hey! How about a little love my way?!” yells back Caspar

Petra counts down from three, and with a chop of her hand, yells “Begin!”

Without warning, Caspar immediately rushes towards you, brandishing that very large, albeit very blunt, axe. The boy certainly fights as hot-headed as he acts. You manage to backstep at the last minute as the axe swings through the air right in front of your face, pushing up your bangs. Eyes wide, you thrust your short sword slightly off balance and manage to strike Caspar in the shoulder, earning you a grunt of pain as a reward. (>Caspar Misses, You hit him for 5 damage.)

The noble is off balance, and now it’s your turn to go on the offensive. Stepping to the side, you raise your sword and smash it down on the back end of Caspar’s other shoulder, earning another cry and causing the boy to almost drop his weapon. (You hit Caspar for 5 Damage)

The boy quickly recovers and rushes you again, this time holding his axe out and attempting to throw you off balance. Your weapons clash and for a moment you’re able to struggle against him evenly. However, the boy clearly has some muscle behind him, which he uses to push you away, followed by swinging his training axe again. You catch the blow with your sword, but the impact feels like it may dislocate your arm if it was any harder. You go flying, falling on your backside hard, before quickly getting up, eyes wide. Caspar has a satisfied look on his face that his maneuver worked. You on the other hand, are not quite as pleased, and decide to make that evident very soon. You level your sword to your face and rush at Caspar, unleashing a flurry of blows. The boy does his best to stop each one, however it’s clear you’re much faster than him, especially with that heavier axe of his. Eventually, Caspar slips up and your wooden blade catches him on the collar. (Caspar takes 9 damage)

The boy backs off again and attempts to raise his axe up to defend himself, however he’s clearly slowed and it’s far too late. You launch forward and thrust the sword into Caspar’s stomach, knocking the wind out of him and launching him on his back. (Caspar takes 9 damage, KO’d)

You plant your sword on the ground, breathing heavy and staring at the prone, groaning boy. Your instructors always said you had a bad habit of getting more aggressive when you got hurt. You begin to wonder if you may have overdone it when through Caspar’s groans of pain, he starts giggling.

“W-wow!” Caspar says, struggling to sit up. “You’re pretty strong Blair! Thank the goddess you’re on our side!”

You laugh a bit yourself, before extending a hand for support and lifting Caspar up.

You look around and notice that your little skirmish has attracted quite the crowd of onlookers. Some of them are a little displeased to see a Commoner brutalize the son of one of the most important nobles in the Empire. Others seem a little impressed. Among them, you notice the boy with dark blue hair that you neglected to talk to back at the courtyard. He’s staring at you with a hand on the hilt of his sword. However, your view of him is then blocked by the sudden appearance of Dorothea and Petra, who rush over to congratulate you on your win.

“That was most excellent! You and I must be next some day!” says Petra

“Gotta say girl, you sure know how to make an entrance.” Says Dorothea

The four of you leave the Tournament Grounds and head over to the Mess Hall to relax and unwind with dinner. You learn a little more about your new friends, such as Dorothea’s history in the Mittelfrank Opera, and Caspar’s desire to make a name for himself. Eventually, it’s time to retire for the night, and you and Dorothea head back to the Commoner dorms on the first floor of the Monastery. You also talk about the upcoming mock battle against the other houses, and who you’ll be competing with.

While everyone at the Academy is equal, dorms are still separated by noble and common status. As Dorothea and you are the only Commoners in the Black Eagle, you become roommates by default. You settle into your room quickly, unpacking your very sparse belongings. Among them, you find a coin purse that you were given prior to leaving Castle Rusalka. It contains 500 gold. A pittance compared to the salaries that your fellow noble students receive, but you figure it may come in handy at some point.

You lay in bed thinking back to the conversation you had earlier in the Mess Hall, Dorothea slightly snoring in the bunk above yours. You’ll have one week of introductory classes starting tomorrow, up until the Mock Battle. After that, you’ll begin taking more specialized classes based on your goals at the Officers Academy. You begin to wonder, just what is it that you want to get out of your time here?

Should we do some brainstorming on what path we intend to take? I haven't played a lot of 3H since I marathoned it on release, but I distinctly remember that Pegasus Knights were insanely broken, and with the correct setup they would have enough evasion to be literally unkillable, plus enough speed to always strike twice on a counter attack.

Well bows are pretty OP in game, Bow Knight and Wyvern Lords using bows being pretty overpowered in game, because of Canto and I think Pegasus Knights have that skill too. If we're leaning towards sword maybe Swordmaster or Mortal Savant?

The bigger question if we're sticking with Black Eagles is if we're doing Church Route or not? I wonder what changes QM would make to Crimson Flower and Church Route since both routes seem to have their own problems and short comings in the game compared to AM and VW.

Screw the Church, the future Edelgard builds is the best one for a commoner girl.

So a note I should make about transferring students over. It's important to remember that you're not Byleth (nor do you have her sex appeal in the case of instantly wooing over Sylvain.)

Throughout the course of the Quest, you can probably at max convince maybe 1 to 2 students to switch sides. Remember that you're a student yourself, and it's not entirely out of the question that you may switch sides further down the line as well if you so wish.

I haven't given too much thought on how to handle Byleth convincing students to transfer over. I may have her switch over an additional 1-2 based on how things go, and I'll make it obvious who it'll be as the story progresses. Otherwise though, if the cards deem it, you may end up killing some friends SMT style.

Well, hopefully we can get Lysithea. She's broken, and she might as well be an Honorary Black Eagel as far as I'm concerned.

Swordmaster seems sort of like an average safe pick, not voting against it but it kinda seems like a boring choice. Mortal Savant sounds more interesting if we manage to we get both good STR and MAG. It's really about how we roll or fail to roll the stats in the end. I'll run a refresher on the ckasses when I get home from work, see if we what alternatives we have with our stat growth.

I wanna give Black Eagles a chance since its the most underdeveloped and unknown routes that the QM could spice up since it has so many obvious loose ends and unfinished things that a writer could easily bind up into a satisfying story. Byleth might make sense as a late game recruit though or even a final boss.

Then perhaps swapping our main focus from being a fighter to being a leader would be more in line with our potential future escapades? Putting some work into our Charisma if we intend to be a Social Link battery for others sounds better than being just another Swordswoman grunt who happens to be friends with the main antagonist/protaganist.

Personally I'd like to see the perspective of someone who isn't at the kind of leading position that anons are discussing. Blair being an important part of her side of the war, but not necessarily the driving force behind it, appeals to me.

I also think Trickster/Mortal Savant would be a good fit for Blair, even if in-game it's not the greatest. In general I'd like to believe that not everything is going to cleave perfectly to the games mechanically and story-wise.

Dark Knight or Valkyrie Blair would also be interesting IMO. After all she is supposed to go back and serve her adoptive siblings as a Knight.

Given the current votes indicating that at least initially Blair is going to be focusing on her weapons, though, and she's starting with a sword, the Trickster/Mortal Savant line of hybrids seems the mostly likely for her to adopt. Unless she switches to lance immediately, she probably won't be going into the flying or mounted classes.

You lie in bed thinking back on your duel with Caspar. The clash of your weapons was absolutely exhilarating, at least until you were knocked flat on your ass. You decide focusing on being a better close combat fighter might be more beneficial at the moment. You drift off to sleep easily, utterly exhausted from the day’s events.

Dorothea wakes you a little earlier than you would have liked to let you know that the Black Eagles will be meeting their house professor today. This year’s professor is particularly out of the ordinary. She’s a last-minute addition to the faculty, a mercenary that saved a group of students from a bandit attack a few days earlier. Said group including Miss Edelgard von Hresvelg herself.

You find your way to the Assembly Hall, already packed with murmuring students, eager to get a first glance at the woman they’ve heard so much about. Finally, a door in the back opens, and in walks the professor.

Your first impression of Professor Byleth Eisner is that she seems quite distant. Cold. As she stands their silently scanning the crowd of students in front of her, you can’t help but feel uneasy. As if she’s judging each of you. Finally, she speaks, in a clear, though somewhat emotionless manner.

“My name is Byleth, and I will be serving as the professor of the Black Eagles this year. For background, I’ve spent the last 20 years travelling as part of a mercenary troop. I have seen battle all across Fodlan, from the snowy peaks of the Kingdom to the scorching deserts of Leicester and the dense forests of the Empire. What I lack in nobility, I make up for in experience. It is my hope that I will be able to impart my experience upon each of you and assist with your development this year.”

She bows.

“I look forward to working with you all.”

The first week of class is spent going over your goals and plans for the year. The Professor meets with each student individually, assessing their skills and offering guidance on further development. When it is your turn to sit with Byleth, you can’t help but be unnerved. You explain to the professor that you wish to become a better melee fighter. She sits there absorbing your words in earnest thought, her piercing blue eyes never leaving you. You begin to fidget in your seat before she says:

“I understand. I sense you have some magical prowess as well, though that should be no excuse to forego your physical training. Have you given consideration to a type of weapon that you would like to specialize in?”

You ponder the Professor’s question closer. While you feel comfortable enough with the sword, you know the joys of running through a target with a lance on horseback. Or the sensation that one gets when cleaving through a log of wood with an axe. Hell, you can’t even deny how satisfied you’ve been when you’ve shot a target across the field before with your bow.

From there, we’ll be one step closer to determining what Proficiency you’ll take when the time comes. Any questions?”

Byleth flips open a chart and scans it briefly.

“Your team will consist of yourself, Bernadetta, Petra, and Damian.”

Leaving the office, you think about how fortunate it is that you didn’t cause any bad blood with Petra. You haven’t met the other two members of your team, though you know who they are and make a plan to speak to them after class. Unfortunately, once class concludes, you find Bernadetta a bit hard to pin down. She quickly grabs her books and runs out of the classroom towards the dormitory. That leaves Damian, who is currently packing his bag and laughing at a joke told by one of his friends. You walk up to him.

“Excuse me, you’re Damian right? My name is Blair. I understand we’re to be on the same te-“

Damian looks towards you with a sneer one might have if they’d stepped in a particularly deep puddle of mud.

“Yeah I know… you’re the low-born piece of dirt the Professor assigned me to right? Listen, stay the hell out of my way during the Mock Battle. It’s bad enough already I have to team up with that savage idiot. Just do me a favor and try to catch an arrow or two that heads my way, okay?”

Damian’s quip earns some laughs from his friends, and they brush passed you and out the door.

Well that went about as well as you might have expected. Perhaps you should try something else. The Mock Battle is the day after tomorrow after all.

Once Blair hits level 5, she'll be able to change classes and be a bit more locked in until her next designated class change.

You appreciate the help. You know Dorothea will be on a separate team with Edelgard and some other important nobles and appreciate that she can spare some time. The next morning after class, Dorothea and you walk over to the 2nd floor dormitory where Bernadetta lives.

“Let me do the talking.” Dorothea says, knocking on the door. “Bernie, it’s me, Dorothea, can you open up please? I just want to talk.”

You hear shuffling, along with the clitter clatter of some objects being pushed around within, before finally hearing a timid voice answer.

“D-Dorothea? What’s going on?”

“I’m here to return your needle and thread! You dropped it when you rushed out of class!”

The door suddenly opens, and you see Bernadetta standing in the doorway, a puzzled look on her face.

“Huh…my spool is right he-“ She freezes upon spotting you, before rushing to close the door, only to find Dorothea’s foot blocking it, and pushing it open.

“Noooooooooo! I’m sorry! P-Please don’t kill me!!” the terrified girl exclaims. She’s fallen on her behind and scuttled over to the back end of her dorm room. As you inspect the room, you noticed it’s covered head to toe in scattered around books and stuffed animals.

“No one’s here to kill you Bernie.” Dorothea sighs. “This is my friend, Blair. You’re both on the same team for the Mock Battle tomorrow, and she was just hoping to strategize with you.”

The timid girl looks up at you with disbelief.

“R-really? You mean you’re not actually going to kill me so that I don’t show up tomorrow and the Professor has to give you a new teammate? That’s…a relief.” Bernadetta says.

At this point, you’re used to the other students treating you like a freak. Outright fear though is an entirely different matter. You explain to Bernadetta the situation with Damian, and how you’ll only be able to rely on her and Petra tomorrow. She’s certainly not enthused to hear.

You sigh and begin to wonder what the point of coming here was as she rambles. Nevertheless, you approach Berndadetta (who backs away further), squat down in front of her, extend out your pinky finger, and smile.

>“Dorothea tells me you’re a better archer than you let on. I’ll tell you what; If you watch my back tomorrow and don’t let any pesky foes sneak up on me, I’ll make sure no one gets near you. Deal?”

Bernadetta looks at you with a healthy amount of suspicion. Her eyes move from your face, to your finger, back to your face, your finger again, and finally your face. Finally, she pinky swears with you.

“D-deal.”

Satisfied with that answer, you and Dorothea take your leave of the girl’s room. The rest of the day passes by uneventfully. As you lay in bed, so many thoughts race through your head. The Mock Battle is tomorrow and you still have no clue who you’ll be fighting, let alone what weapon you’ll choose to go into battle with. You think back on the Professor’s words from yesterday.

You wake up the morning of the Mock Battle with a renewed sense of vigor. You’ve slept it over, and you’re confident that you’ll go with the lance during today’s bout. It’s a weapon you’ve practiced quite a bit back at Rusalka, and you’re feeling confident it will compliment Petra and Bernadetta’s style of combat. You and Dorothea get dressed and head towards the training area designated as Battlefield Alpha, where the Mock Battle will take place.

You arrive and see hordes of students from each house. Many of them are already broken off into their teams of four. You bid good luck to Dorothea, who will have the distinction of fighting in the first mock battle that day, alongside the Professor and Edelgard. After she leaves, you meet up with Bernadetta and Petra, who have already found each other.

“Ahhhh….I couldn’t eat a single bite of breakfast this morning…I kept thinking about how if I got hit I’d just puke all over the place and everyone would laugh at me and call me pukeface for the rest of the year and-“ Bernadetta’s rambling is interrupted by Petra slapping her on the back.

You spot Damian in the vicinity, laughing with some friends and getting ready to watch the first fight. You notice he doesn’t carry a weapon on him. You weren’t sure what his specialty was before, but now you’re certain he plans on using magic during the bout. He notices you staring at him and your eyes briefly meet, before he sports a look of disgust and stares towards the battlefield. Asshole. Let’s hope his magic is as good as his attitude.

The first battle kicks off. You shout as loud as you can in support of Dorothea and Edelgard. After a grueling battle against the heads of the other two houses, Claude and Crown Prince Dimitri, the Black Eagles are able to pull of a great victory. You now feel more motivated than ever to go out there and kick some ass, and when it’s your team’s turn to take the field, you grasp your Training Lance and head out.

You and Petra form up together, with Bernadetta behind you, at the southern most area of the Battlefield. Damian passed the three of you and settles in the front of the formation.

“What the hell was the Professor thinking giving me a bunch of girls to team up with? If I’m gonna lead you to victory, then stay the hell out of my way and follow my lead. I’ll charge through and blow a hole through those Kingdom and Alliance dirtbags with my magic!”

Since there's three teams, and the Golden Deer have the most defensible position, a mage charging forward into the middle of both groups of opposition is not the way to follow her grace's example...
That being said, it's better to do the stupid play together than to do the smart play apart. As much as Damian is a jerk, we likely need him as a ranged attacker and mage to break open the GD's position and Raphael. I'm not exactly happy needing to rush in with this guy but playing down a member is even worse.

He's a dick for sure, but this is a team effort in the end, and will be graded as such. We should at least try and be the diplomatic party and attempt to work out something with him lest it reflect badly on us. If he's just going to be antagonistic towards us and refuse to work with us, then let him eat humble pie as a result. We'll work something out with Petra and Bernadetta in that case.

hopefully we can direct him towards the Blue Lions, or like reverse psychology him into it by asking him to go fight the Golden Deer or something. I really doubt it'll succeed though.

As much as you’d like to see Damian take a few blows to the head, you figure you’d be doing a disservice to the team if you didn’t try at least one more time to talk to him.

>”Why don’t you stay in the back and let Petra and I soften them up for you? Wouldn’t it be better to save your magic for when we need it?”

Damian snaps his head towards you with a snarl. He wants to argue, but a look of clarity comes across his face.

“Hmm…perhaps you wenches WOULD be far more useful serving as a buffer for me. I’ve got to get whatever use out of you I can after all.” He smirks as he takes up position behind you.

You let out a sigh of relief and contemplate finding a way to kick his ass when this is all over. Now fully in position, you wait for the signal from Headmaster Seteth to announce the commencement of battle. A horn bellows from the stands, and you hear a loud, commanding voice:

“Black Eagles, ready! Blue Lions, ready! Golden Deer, ready! Begin!”

The horn bellows again and you grip your spear. Scanning the battlefield, you spot the Golden Deer encamped ahead in a knoll. That means the Blue Lions must be further up ahead, past the woods to your right.

>”Let’s move up slowly.” You say to Petra, who nods back, determined.

As your team begins moving up, you spot the Blue Lions team, who also had the same idea. Among them, you spot that same black-haired swordsman that you remember seeing after your duel with Caspar. Next to him is a larger boy. A noble, going by his clothing, with a dumb look on his face.

“What the hell?” He laughs. “It’s just a bunch of little girls, Felix! Let’s kick their ass!” He brandishes a Training Axe and charges your position, laughing!

“Wait, you idiot!” His comrade, whom you’ve now identified as Felix, yells.

The noble with the Axe is running at a full sprint towards you, eager to smash your face in, when you hear a yelp from behind you, followed by arrow launching passed your head, and into the boy’s shoulder. The boy yelps in pain but keeps charging you. He’s only a few meters away when a small fireball from Damian plows into his midsection, sending him into a tumble.
“Agh! W-what?” The boy lands on his knees directly in front of you, and stares up, trembling.

“I y-yie” You pretend you didn’t hear the words as you smash the butt of your training lance into his temple, rendering him unconscious.

Damian let’s out a loud guffaw. “Hahaha, what an idiot! What did he hope to accomplish by just charging in like that? Is this really the best the Kingdom has to offer?!

You think to yourself how Damian would have most likely suffered that same fate had you not tried reasoning with him.

By now, Felix and his companions have caught up. One of them is another noble, with short red hair, wielding a lance. The other is a rather plain looking girl. She has no weapon in her hand, signifying to you that she is a magic caster. From the corner of your eye, you see a boy from the Golden Deer has left the safety of the knoll. He is wielding a short sword and staring at both your team, as well as the Blue Lions, with keen interest.

“Sylvain, care to do something useful for a change?” Felix asks, inching closer to you.

The boy, Sylvain, looks like he’d rather be anywhere else right now.

“But Felix, I can’t just possibly leave Kelly’s side? I couldn’t live with myself if one of these dastards laid a hand on he-“ he is interrupted by a fireball hitting his midsection and knocking him back a bit, though he manages to stand his ground.

You hear Damian laughing again and before you know it, Felix has charged directly towards you. The two of you begin exchanging blows, his sword against your spear. The boy is fast, almost unbelievably fast, but you match him blow for blow with your spear.

You spot Petra dashing towards Sylvain to attempt and finish him off, however the boy gets up far quicker than you anticipated, and with seemingly no damage. Kelly is clearly a practitioner of healing magic.

You focus back on Felix, jabbing your spear and keeping him at bay. You think you spot an opening and jab towards his mid-section. Felix manages to block it at the last second, though he is caught on his back foot. You push forward on your spear, attempting to put an end to him, when you notice “it.” The boy’s weapon glows a bright blue, and with a grunt, he manages to parry your spear into the ground, utilizing an otherworldly strength. He’s about to deliver a savage blow to your chest when instead, he cuts down an arrow that was sent his way. You’re able to back up quickly, and find yourself next to Petra, who also backed off.

>”What the fuck was that?!” you exclaim out loud.

“S-shit…they’ve got Crests?!” you hear Damian say.

You assess the situation. Perhaps a change of course is needed.

Hmm, we're in a though spot. We can't really drop everything and rush the healer, Felix will 100% crush our backline with zero effort if we don't check him. Sylvain being a womanizer probably won't be overly aggressive as long as Kelly is still on the field, so he'll basically act as her bodyguard. The Scout too from the Deers have me worried they're about to make their move, which means we can't get locked down in a fight with the Lions if we wish to avoid being overwhelmed. If we're allowed some creative freedom with our actions I'd say:

>Write-in: Attempt to maneuver the team north east, towards column AM/AN, while protecting the backline. Engage only as a defensive measure to keep Felix/Sylvain at bay, do not get tied down in melee.
We do this to place the Lions in between us and the Deers, hopefully negating any attempted sneak attack on us and causing the Lions to take the brunt of the Deers assault. Damian most likely won't take us giving orders lightly, so lets phrase it as a suggestion, like "We should withdraw as the enemy is stronger than we anticipated". The dude is scared shitless of Felix's Crest, so hopefully he'll just go along with it instead of having a hissy fit.

If we're not allowed to make our own write-ins, then I vote for:

A flicker of doubt crosses your mind at the revelation that you’re fighting opponents with Crests. While you do outnumber them, and you’re aware Bernadetta has one of her own, you know you won’t get out of this unscathed, and the Golden Deer are still completely fresh.

>"Let’s pull back, the enemy is stronger than anticipated!" You say to your team. Petra and Bernadetta seem inclined to agree. Even Damian gives you no pushback on the idea. They follow your lead and attempt to loop around the nearby patch of forest, heading northeast. The Blue Lions pursue after you, seemingly unaware of the scout from the Deer you saw earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan, until you hear Felix shout towards you.

“Did you forget this is a battle? Or would you rather run away with your tail between your legs?” He says.

That kid’s got quite the sharp tongue, but he’s a fool if he thinks that will get you to-

“How dare you! I won’t allow some Faergus swine to speak to me that way!” Damian yells. He ceases pulling back and begins casting a spell.

>”What are you doing?!” you shout at him.

“Shut up! I won’t take orders from some halfwit commoner, and I will not allow my honor to be tarnished, Crest or not!” Damian says. It seems he’s completely gotten over his fear and intends to fight head on.

His fireball is launched towards Felix, who rolls under it. As he rolls, he lands in front of Damian, and swings his training sword upward, colliding fully with the boy’s chest. Damian is launched upwards, only to meet Sylvain’s spear head on in the abdomen. He lands and rolls some feet away on the ground, curled up, puking and sobbing. (Damian, KO’d)

You can’t believe that idiot was baited so easily! You continue pulling back around the forest as the Blue Lions pursue. As you inch closer to the knoll, you hear a yelp and turn around. Sylvain is engaged in combat with that scout from the Golden Deer you saw earlier! The scout is wielding two short swords, and is ferociously hammering away at the noble, who is blocking each one. To the side, you notice the prone form of Kelly. That scout hid behind the tree-line and waited until everyone had passed by to make his move. If you had stood your ground, that likely would have been Bernadetta. (Kelly, KO’d.)

You turn to the source of the voice and spot a familiar face. It’s that blonde boy with the muscles! How old is this kid?! He has no weapon, but he doesn’t strike you as a spellcaster. In fact, with the way he’s pounding his fists together, you get the impression he’s keen on using his bare hands. Behind him in the distance, you can see two more students racing to catch up with him. You’ll have to finish off either Felix or this newcomer before they get here and complicate things further.

We promised you Bernie, we promised you your inside would not be coming out today.

With Sylvain engaged with Bradley, and Kelly taken out we will not have a better shot at Eliminating Felix. If at all possible we should sweep south in a blitz and make sure our flank is completely clear by eliminating all combatants before we turn and face the main force of the Deers. Lysithea is the biggest threat right now after Felix, so we ought to keep our distance from her while we're engaged. With the flank clear and all enemy positions revealed, I am confident we can tank Raphael long enough for Petra and Bernie to finish Lysithea and Ernst afterwards

To lay out my reasoning on trying to get the Blue Lions to ally with us, there are two cases:
The Blue Lions allow the three-way melee to continue. In this case they are kingmaking for the Golden Deer, because although Sylvain is likely to win his current skirmish, that leaves a weakened pair to defeat 7 other enemies. More importantly for Felix, Blair will probably end up fighting and being beaten down by GD ranged attacks, instead of fighting him.
But if the Blue Lions accept and ally with us then our combined teams will (probably) beat out the Golden Deer and our ragged remains can then duel for victory.

In the three-way melee case, Blair-Raphael goes to Raph since his ranged allies can focus on Blair while Petra and Bernadetta are dealing with the Blue Lions. Felix has to be dealt with by two or more since he has a crest, and then those two probably have to deal with a (weakened) Sylvain. If Blair instead goes for Felix then she's basically accepting that Raph will beat on her or on Bernadetta (which breaks her promise!).

I would accept trying to ally him and if he turns us down then all three of us gang up on him to take him down, instead of splitting our forces between Felix and Raf - Felix has shown that if his crest goes off then a single crestless fighter is not match for him, and if he takes down Petra then he's free to close in and blitz Bern before Blair can disengage from Raf. Plus with Sylvain tied up with the deer grunt it's the best time to dogpile Felix without interference from him.

I find the notion of allying with the Lions at this point in time as too risky. They currently are on the way to losing pretty damn badly, thus they stand to gain the most from this alliance, I.E using us as cannon fodder to tank Lysithea and Raphael while they stab us in the back. If we ally with them now, we'll basically be putting ourselves in a potential pince between the Lions and the Deers for basically zero gain, unless we can convince Felix and Sylvain to charge first, and I doubt we can convince them to do so.

Not really, no. With the Lions down two members and Sylvain occupied, Felix isn't in a real position to threaten us. He's arrogant and proud of his own skill, sure, but he's not lacking in critical thinking. Attacking us right now would be tantamount to throwing the game. He'll most likely play defensively until Sylvain beats the GenericusMcGee Deer before he does anything else. This part of the pince is for now, a dud.

If we wait to let Sylvain recover and rejoin Felix, we'll have lost the opportunity to roll up the southern flank by defeating Felix and knocking out both Sylvain and Genericus while they are busy with eachother. We can then turn to face the rest of the Deer without worrying about our flanks. This is a drastic change in power, especially if we're lucky and Raphael continue to hunt us while his backline struggles to keep up. We'll have cleared our flank and (hopefully) isolated the enemies last frontline fighter.

On the other side of the Pincer we have only Raphael to worry about at the moment, and I'm hoping moving towards Felix will keep Lysithea and the other Backline Generic out of combat range for now. If Rapheal catches up to us, we'll be the closest one to him so he'll engage on us. If we assume he has the same base stats at level 1 as in the game, plus the might bonus his weapon, the iron gauntlet, which is 1, that puts him on 12 might, reduced to 6 damage per strike due to our Defense. He'll strike twice for 12 damage total in one turn (gauntlets strike twice as a base, four if it's a double attack, and his base speed is lower than ours so no double attacks), enough that we can tank him for one turn if he catches up. The worst thing we could do is attempt to slow the pace here or stop to fight Raphael which will give the Deer Backline time to get into combat range.

If we're talking about people we would want to move to the BE, then I would want to try and get Lysithea over.

Muscles over there can wait, you have a long overdue date with Felix. You nod towards Petra and the two of you charge him. If the boy has any opinions about being unfairly outnumbered, he certainly does not get time to voice them. Felix is fast, but you’ve proven you can keep up with him, and Petra is even faster than the two of you. With your spear and her sword jabbing and hacking at him, all he can do is try and guard. Eventually though, he does falter, and you manage to catch him by spinning your spear and smacking him across his face, while Petra follows up with an outstretched kick to his side, sending the boy in a tumble. (Felix -12 HP)

“Now!” yells Petra. She bears on Felix, ready to deliver the finishing strike, when you spot that familiar blue flash. Felix is up on his feet with a grunt and manages to swing his wooden sword just in time to catch Petra. The blow is brutal and the girl is sent flying back right into you, where you both collapse in a heap. You manage to soften her landing at the least, though the damage was certainly done. (Petra -13 HP, Blair -2 HP)

Fucking crests! You had no idea they could be this much of a nuisance. If that’s the way it’s gonna be though…
You’re able to push Petra off of you and get back to standing position, albeit with your lance lowered. Felix, sensing blood in the water, and having just swatted aside an arrow from Bernadetta, charges right towards you with a roar. He doesn’t notice you muttering under your breath and as he gets close enough to swing, you raise your hand outward and catch him point blank with your Fire spell. (Fiery Blood Activates, Felix -12 HP)

The blue haired youth catches the full brunt of the attack and begins rolling on the ground, trying to douse the magical fire. As the last flame flickers, he looks up to see you standing in front of him, spear outstretched.

“Hmm…nice trick. Let’s you and I pick this up again some other time.” He says.

>“Count on it. Now please yield.”

Felix scoffs and holds out his hands, signifying his surrender.

You look up from Felix and spot Sylvain. He had defeated his opponent, who was laying on the ground, prone, however, it looks like he did not come out of the bout unscathed. Upon spotting the three girls sporting weapons in his direction, he drops his lance and also raises his hands.

“Ladies, please, I could never raise arms against women of your caliber.”. (Sylvain Surrenders)

“Idiot…” you hear Felix mutter from under you.

“Raphael! Quit talking to the enemy!!” You hear a childish voice behind him shout. You can see two spellcasters standing behind the man. One of them seems like an ordinary boy, but you have a bad feeling about the white-haired girl who’s giving Raphael his orders.

“Sorry Lysithea!”

It looks like they intend to use Raphael as a buffer while they pelt you with magic. You hear Petra breathing hard next to you. She had taken some bad damage from her bout with Felix earlier. Meanwhile, all three Golden Deer fighters are completely fresh.

I think us and Bernie should use fire and bow to attack him from a distance with Petra staying back as well, this way we aren't close to the mages and could maybe dodge some of their attacks.
Also got some nice stats ups, Str, Spd and Def will definitely help.

Us on Raf, Petra and Bernie on the mages, with priority to taking down Lysithea. WIth burning blood up + our magic Blair might be able to do some real damage, plus her lance means she can keep him at range. Meanwhile hopefully Petra is still fast enough to Blitz one of them.

If possible Make it look like we're charging Raf to take him down like we did Felix before Petra splits off to the mages and Bern switches target to them.

We absolutely can't be tied up taking down Raf because that will leave us wide open for the mages, but at the same time with Petra hurt we can't exactly leave him unchecked because if he takes down Bern then it's all over.

I actually really want to make a run for that patch of trees to give us extra dodge near AM/AN 22 but with Petra injuried we're probably not gonna make it before the mages get us.

Now you see, this level up is actually a game changer. Assuming Raphaels base stats are the same as the game, we now outspeed him by 4 giving us dual strikes on him every attack. With a +1 to strength and a +1 to defense aswell, we actually have a good shot at taking out Raphael solo, as long as Bernie and Petra can lock down the backline I think we're looking at a GG no re here.

Raphael, already aware that you can use magic, doesn’t intend to sit idly by while you pick him off from a distance.

“Here we go!”

The hulking blonde rushes towards you, arms outstretched, ready to rip you in two. With no time to cast your incantation, you begin jabbing at him with your spear to try and keep a safe distance, as Petra and Bernie rush forward and around to try and cut off Lysithea and Ernst.

“You’re pretty good!” Yells Raphael, who is doing his best to duck and weave past your spear thrusts. You manage to poke the boy twice in your attempts to keep him away. Once in the shoulder and once in the collar. The blows connect hard and he staggers a bit (Raphael -10 HP). As you follow up with a third stab though, Raphael dodges to the side and grabs the length of your spear, pulling you in closer. You can’t compete with that strength and you suddenly feel a fist connect directly with your stomach. (-10 HP, 8/21)

You feel like your own insides are about to come out as you reel hard from Raphael’s blow. Your spear is ripped out of your hands as you are sent flying back. As you’re clutching your stomach, you hear the sounds of spells being cast further off, along with two sudden glowing flashes that you now recognize as a Crest activation. Could both of those have been Bernie’s? Or does the enemy have one as well? You don’t have much time to think about it as you sense a shadow looming over you, and you roll out of the way of a fist swinging downward to the ground.

“Woah! Still standing? You may look like a cute little girl, but you’re pretty strong!”

>”T-thanks…I don’t suppose I can get you to yield?”

“I was just about to ask you that actually…hitting a short stack like you just don’t feel right. My sister would be chewing my ear off right about now!”

You decide to end your impromptu discussion and begin chanting the words necessary for your flame spell. Raphael launches forward, ready to end you. For as large as the boy is, he moves with a speed that betrays his appearance. However, you’re still much faster than he is, and this time you’re prepared for his attack. You extend your hands just as he’s directly in front of you and blast him with a Fire Spell.

Raphael reels back hard. If your magic was effective against Felix, you can consider it a critical hit against Raphael. The boy was utterly unprepared to take a blow like that full brunt. As he staggers and attempts to brush it off, you’ve already casted your second spell and launched it directly at him. The second spell does the trick, and you manage to take the giant down. Your heart sinks when you see Petra, down on one knee, giving a sign that she’s down. Next to her is the prone figure of Ernst, who is also done for. All that remains now is Lysithea, who has retreated behind the choke point and is trying to blast Bernie with what you can make out to be Dark Magic. Bernie’s holding her own, but she’s clearly overwhelmed.

You pick up your spear and rush forward. You can taste victory, but you need to be careful how you approach Lysithea, as you have the sneaking suspicion you’re dealing with another Crest user.

(Blair's total is 400%, the highest in the game being Cyril with 395% with his skill). I suppose she pays for it by havnig the absolute lowest base HP stat, even if she doesn't have *the* lowest stat total

My idea with Creat users is once they obtain their Hero Relics, they’ll be getting +10-20 on multiple certain stats ala the Crusader Weapons from Genealogy of the Holy War. With that you rush in towards the chokepoint, lance outstretched, briefly wondering if you sounded cool just now. Lysithea spots you, and you can see her magic churning around her and in her hands as she gets ready to swat you down.

You won’t be able to get to Lysithea in time before she fires at you. In a last-ditch effort, you cease running, plant your feet firmly in the ground, and launch your spear at her as a makeshift javelin. The spear sails towards the girl, who raises one hand up in an attempt to block it. She’s able to raise up one arm and have it bounce somewhat painfully off her left forearm. (Lysithea, -5 HP). Using her right hand though, she launches a ball of dark matter that strikes you head on.

You’ve never been hit by Dark Magic before. You’ve been struck by magic before back during your training days, however this feels different. As if all the warmth in your body has suddenly rushed out. As your fall back and slip into unconsciousness, the last thing you hear is the tell-tale sign of a Crest activating somewhat behind you.

You wake up sometime later still on the field. As you’re looking up, you spot three faces starting back down at you. The first you recognize as the Professor of the Blue Lions, Manuela. Her hands glow a bright white, the tell-tale sign of Healing Magic. The other two faces belong to Petra and Bernadetta, who is looking particularly concerned.

“Rise and shine, kid. You took quite a nasty fall there, but you’ll be alright.” Manuela says.

Though your ribs feel like they are on fire, you manage to let out a chuckle as you turn to the unscathed Bernadetta.

Looks like Blair is a woman of her word, keeping her promise to Bernie no matter what. We gotta thank her for having our backs like that when Bernie gets into one of her moods - she was a big help vs Felix as well.

Damian is eating truckloads of humble pie right now, and I don't feel that any choices here are actually good. He did just get humiliated before his peers and worst of all, the peasant girl he lashed out on lasted until the end. That has to be a major blow to his ego.

If we admonish him for his actions, it's a straight shot to turning him antagonistic against us. If we attempt to console him, he'll think we, a mere peasant, is patronizing him, a superior Nobel, and we're back on the antagonist train. Just ignoring him is also just bad, he did contribute in the beginning and not recognizing that is also bound to leave some bad mojo between us. We need to say something, but I don't know what.

Ultimately what Damian needs is time to process this, hopefully he'll work out his feelings and will come out better for it. What we ought to do is visit him tomorrow or the day after that and speak with him privately, try to smooth out any hard feelings and see if he wants to start over as classmates, instead of Nobel and Peasant.

The issue about directing spotlight specifically to him that only thing he even remotely contributed to was vs Kristoffer, but the bad thing about bringing up Kristoffer in conversation is that the very next thing Damian did was get KO'd pulling the exact same stupid stunt that Kristoffer did.

And with everyone buzzing about cohesive the girls turned out to be after he got taken out of the game, I feel he might take us (the one who's command hard carried the team to victory) bringing up his moves early battle as us sneakily patronising/insulting him? Especially because nobles probably use fancy word games and double speak to put people down all the time in the circles he runs in.

Through the cheers and applause, you notice Damian sitting by himself away from everyone. The boy looks like he’s seen better days, and while part of you would love nothing more than to put the brat in a headlock, you decide it’s worth trying one last time to be the bigger person. You find enough strength to stand without Petra’s support and walk over to the crestfallen lad.

The boy looks up at you with a healthy dose of suspicion.

You figure that’s the best you’ll get from him. You extend your hand out and he grabs it.

You spend the rest of the night celebrating with your fellow Black Eagles. Many of them come up to you and give you well-meaning congratulations. For the first time since coming to Garreg Mach, you feel welcome. Even the soon to be Emperor has taken notice of you.

“I hear they’ll be having us go on a dangerous mission soon as a reward for winning the Mock Battle.” Says Caspar.

“Gee, that’s some reward.” Says Dorothea.

“Hah! Maybe we’ll see some real combat? Wouldn’t that be something, Blair?”

While you’re still unsure of where your academic journey will leave you, you’ve become keenly aware of your strengths and weaknesses since coming here.

Alright, since the discussion earlier made it seem we're going towards a flying class, we should probably raise Flying every possible chance we get. Other skills we need raising for the more advanced Flying classes are Reason (Dark Flier)/Sword (Falcon Knight/Dark Flier)/Lance(Pegasus Knight/Falcon Knight), so those four are our main focus unless someone else has another plan.

The question is what we'd pick for our lowbie class. We already qualify for Soldier, and if we raise our Proficency by two in either Reason or Sword, we can qualify for either Myrmidon or Monk. If we want to go Dark Flier, the +2 Mag from mastering Monk and then Fiendish Blow from Mage give us some serious punch in the late game. Hell, we can even throw a curveball if we go down this path and become a Valkyrie if we wanted.
However if we want a more traditional approach we can go Myrmidon into Pegasus Knight to guarantee that we always outspeed our enemies. It's a tough call, I'd like to hear some input from other Anons before any choice is made.

Honestly I'd prefer using going the pure peg/falcon knight route - I like the idea of Blair whacking everyone with a lance, and if her magic does get usable we can give he r a levin sword.

Plus when the war phase comes I think speed will be king - ideally she doesn't want to be fighting crest users at all once they get their relic weapons, and with enough speed she'll be able to double grunts easily. With falcon Knight she'll be a mage killer, give her weapons which are effective against cavalry (horses layer) and armors (armorslayer / rapier) and if she doubles them she can do serious damage too. If she gets her hands on a brave lance she might even be able to x4 some enemies.

But the issue with her going pure peg Knight is we need to keep an eye on her str growths (was an issue with ingrid in my playthroughs where she could double everything but had noodle strength).

Which is why for our lowbie class I propose putting the two rank level up into axes so we get it to D which means we can select brawler for its +5 strength growth rate and str 2+.
Blair already has a 55% speed growth so she's very likely to get speed level ups anyway, and with the 10% speed growth peg Knight gives her missing out on the 2+ speed from myrmidon won't hurt her too much in the long run.

For class progression I'm thinking

If Blair's gonna be a flier anyway, I'd rather see her be a dark flier. Not only because it plays better into her strengths stat wise, but also as the other anon put it it gives us some variety to play with. Honestly I'd be alright with being more ground based too, like say a Mortal Savant. As for now, I'd say Monk would be nice for that mag+2 and upping our poor res growth.Blair might justify it as magic being what came in clutch during the mock battle

Forgot to mention this but for the purposes of this quests, there are no battalions. Authority is more of a story based Proficiency that will effect how well NPCs respond to commands from you.

I'm in favor if Dark flyer so i'm voting these two to qualify for Pegasus Knight, Reason, Sword, Lance and Flying should be our focus.
And as for out first class up i'd choose Myrmidon purely for that +2, I want us to become the fast as fuck.

The problem I see with us going Dark Flier is that there are no direct Master Classes that are both a flier and a mage, so we'd be dumping points into stats which we'll not need, either Flying if we fully commit to a caster role or Reason if we pick a class that have no access to spells. If we actually want to be a mobile mage we'd be better served to go for Dark Knight instead, which would see us drop Flying in favour of Riding. In the end I'm leaning more towards Falcon Knight becuase it's a perfectly balanced class with no exploits.

That's not a terrible plan, actually. Again I wouldn't argue for going Dark Flier if we're aiming for a Falcon Knight cause I don't think they can use magic (It's been some time since I played, so I might be wrong here) so we're better served going Wyvern Rider instead.
