Welcome to Part 2 of the Physeter ASOIAF Quest!

Last thread, you(Jarson) received a new trade mission to the Westerlands. After planning the journey with your brother and cousin, you attended your father's nameday feast at night and talked to your sister and your mother. You went to sleep late at night, tired but ready to lead your first trading expedition tomorrow!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You had a restless sleep. Like your sister, you too were plagued by peculiar dreams this night. It started with you standing on a small rock surrounded by ocean. A calm and serene sea, save for the sound of the wind blowing small waves against the rock. The sky was dark, its only source of light being the full moon. This still and pacific reflection of nature, somewhat reminded you of the harmony of a painting.

As you admired the never ending gray ocean from your privileged piece of land, the tiny vibrations at the water surface eluded your perception at first. But they grew in size and as they shook the surface more vigorously, they were joined by sounds. Loud thumps now emerged from the sea with very new movement at the ocean until they were followed by a loud singular spurting sound. From the dark ocean emerged an enormous Sperm Whale thrashing its body as vigorously as any storm of the narrow sea.

Simultaneously to the breaching of the Large cetacean, the sky itself soured and where there was peace and stillness before, now raged a tempest supported by freezing rain.

The whale appeared to thrash about for no reason, but as you stared longer you noticed tentacles surrounding the animal and pulling something to the surface. In a similar fashion to the marine mammal, a colossal Kraken, matching the sperm whale in size, emerged from the Ocean.

The two creatures were engulfed in a life or death struggle with the Kraken shredding the Cetaceans skin with its barbed tentacles and the whale answering in kind by savagely biting whatever piece of the large squid it could get its jaws on. The agitation and waves caused by such combat now threatened to submerge your own rocky shelter as you held for dear life trying to not be washed away by the sea. The thumping sound was now louder than ever and it shook the entire sky…BLAM, BLAM, BLAM...You tried to keep your conscious but it slowly slipped away.

BLAM, BLAM, BLAM! You woke up as someone knocked repeatedly at you bedroom’s door.

You rise from you bed and make your way to the door. Through the window you can see faint glimpses of sunlight announcing the crack of dawn. As you open the door you notice a cheerful Leah smiling at you.

“Rise and shine Jarson! It’s Dawn already time to make father proud” – She laughs jovially –“I will be waiting for you with Jafir and Rodwin at the docks. Don’t take too long!”

Having said that, she leaves you to get ready and sprints down the tower stairs whistling. Leah is definitely in a good mood today, no doubt still surprised that you convinced father to let her accompany you to on the trip.

You dress yourself with light travelling clothes and gather any personal belongings you might need on this trip. As you make your way down the Tower you notice the castle is rather empty. It is likely that most of its inhabitants are at the docks already. Exiting the castle into the cold morning send chills through your body but you quickly negotiate the short distance between the castle and the beach.

Approaching the docks you are swiftly spotted by Jafir and Rodwin as they oversee the final preparations of the Cogs. Your cousin produces a large apple from a nearby sack and tosses it at you. You catch the fruit in your hands and take a bite out of it while Rodwin begins to speak.

“Morning Jarson, we are just about ready to depart. Ships are all stocked and the crew is inside. Jafir’s Cog will stay with us until we are about one day from Faircastle, after that we will split up as they head south”- He pause and takes a bite of his own apple – “ By the way have you decided on a toy yet?”

Rodwin points to a rack containing miscellaneous weapons and motions you to choose one. You are fairly inexperienced with the tools of war but it is better to be safe than sorry. You decide to pick the:

>dagger
>shortsword
>longsword
>hand axe
>other(write in?)

After selecting your weapon, you make a short break towards the dock’s edge where curious animal eyes observe you. The Orca seems excited by all the commotion and as you pet its head and throw some fish in its jaws, you consider:

Should you bring Your orca-warg companion with you to the Westerlands? (also choose name again because no name got more than one vote last time)

Father tolds us that the place we're going to aren't friendly to people with our ability. Best case scenario we end up in a Dungeon, worst case scenario they kill Jaws. He should stay here and if our sister also have a conection with an animal like us, that animal should also stay here,

since we aren't strong instead of a bow who should request a crossbow. Maybe ask for a crossbow, and take a dagger for close work.
As for the Orca, maybe name him Smiley or something. We're young, so our animal friend probably has a kinda goofy name.

Longbows are definitely preferred, but I don't know if I would go as far as to say that crossbows are rare. Off of the top of my head, I can remember references to units of crossbowmen, not to mention, there were lots of them used during the Red Wedding.
>>
>>4817482
So poking around a bit it seems that Myrish crossbows are *weird* because they are big and ungainly and can shoot multiple bolts at once, which, I'm having a hard time imagining. But regular ass crossbows seem pretty popular in the Westerlands and Riverlands. There's even a place in the Riverlands called Crossbow Ridge.

Jafir stands as your side as you interact with the marine mammal looking somewhat worried.

“Are you really taking the animal with you all the way to the Westerlands? It’s a long trip.”

You cease petting the Orca and stand up to meet your brother’s gaze.

“Its name is Jaws. And we should be all right as long as he doesn’t stay to close to the ports, It’s not like I am going to skinchange into it unless there is an emergency.” – You soothe his worries.

This brief exchange is cut short by the arrival of your father. He beckons you both to the beach where a small crowd has assembled. Rodwin is positioned by his left side with Leah. You and Jafir take a spot to the right of Hectar. There he delivers a rather long speech about prosperity and the history of the Boulder before amending a prayer to the old gods for good fortune on the trip. He only halted his sermon once Jafir reminded him we were growing lat, which earned a small laugh from the crowd.

Having said your goodbyes you hug your father before going aboard your Cog. Rodwin follows you shortly with a lively Leah trailing behind him. Your cousin hands you the axe and dagger you selected from the rack and you tie both to your belt. The weight of the weapons on your waist is somewhat discomforting but you will have plenty of time to grow used to it.

Your brother’s ship had already lifted anchor and untied itself from the port by the time you address the crew to start the departure proceedings. Your Cog catches up to his around 100 meters from the Boulder. With both ships now in route to Westeros, you take a last look at your home island as it slowly begins to shrink in the distance.

At the end of the first day you can no longer see any of The Lonely Light archipelago islands on the distance. The weather, for the most part, is clean with occasional light rain pouring on the deck. Both ships keep close distance as they sail and ,despite a thin fog , you never lose sight of your brother’s Cog.

Your small crew occupies itself by playing games and sharing old tales.Your little sister spends her time either annoying the crew with incessant questions or in a partial coma as she has fun skinchanging into the myriad of creatures swimming bellow the ship. It’s odd how, unlike you and your father, she doesn’t appear to get tired from it at all.

As your first officer, your cousin is engaged in ordering the crew around during a good deal of the trip, but when he has free time and the deck is empty, you can spot him practicing and training with his longsword. You notice he has become rather good at it since the last time you saw him using weapon. His strikes are fast and his footwork is excellent even with the added turbulence of the boat.

Jaws follows your ship effortlessly, his normal cruising speed being far above any man made water vessel. Occasionally he would even disappear for a bit, only to rejoin your ship hours later with some critter hanging from his mouth. It seems he has no trouble hunting for himself even all the way in the open sea.

For most of the trip you decide to:

You elect to divide your time between training with your cousin and developing your warg abilities with your sister.

Sparing with Rodwin is an absolutely train wreck though. Your lack of formal training and the added complication of training on a small teetering area such as the deck of a ship cause your progress to be almost null. Rodwin does his best to encourage you but after a few humbling sessions you give up and decide to spend your time on something you are actually decent at.
You find your sister on the stern of the Ship staring at the endless blue sky above.

As you approach she smirks and laughs. “Tired of getting your ass on the floor? It was fairly funny seeing you failing to swing that axe around, I won’t deny it”

You rub your backside reminding yourself of the bruises and pain endured on this “lessons”

“Perhaps I should have practiced more at home before sparing on a moving ship. I am glad I managed to entertain you at the very least, dear sister” – You ironically concede

You both make small talk for a bit before Leah’s expression goes dark and she takes your hand.

“I…I had another strange dream last night. This time there weren’t animals fighting each other but a large white tree beckoning me to go north. Yet, despite walking for hours I couldn’t reach it, and the more I walked the darker and colder my surroundings became, there were other kids marching to the tree too but they all appeared broken and suffering. But the worst part was when I finally reached the tree. On one of its branches sat a crown but it appeared sick and deformed and it had…three eyes. It screamed at me, the sound of a dying animal, and I woke up trembling”- She concludes.

She is obviously scared by these events but tries to keep a brave façade as you stare inside her teary brown eyes. Not wanting to dwell on this subject any longer, you hug her gently and promptly change subject

“I actually came to you to train my warg abilities. I have noticed you are far better than it than both me and father” – You admit

She looks puzzled for a moment. “Hmmm I don’t know if you can train it. For me it is something that developed naturally. As I aged it simply became easier but I don’t think I ever trained in it.”- She notices as your expression turns gloomy – “But that doesn’t mean we can’t try! Close your eyes, let your mind wander do you fell the animals swimming bellow the ship?
Can you feel their hearts beating? Go in you can do it!” – She takes your hand again holding it close to her heart.

You focus your attention on the most alien of the signals, letting go of your conscience as you dwell deeper in the melody of echoes of its heartbeats…all three of them beating in harmony. Wait three? Oh God. It is too late to back down though, you feel your mind merging with the creature as you mind darkens and your still body collapses on the deck…

You find yourself in a far too malleable body, without any rigidity or bones. You try to move but your ten members seem unresponsive. They flail through the water around you without any purpose or direction. You try to scream but you have no mouth. It has been replaced by a narrow sharp beak as cutting and dangerous as the axe you once trained with.

Your existence is agony, your higher-vertebrate mind can’t comprehend or interact with this primitive contrasting body in any articulate manner. You are simultaneously freezing and burning, drowning and breathing. For a while, it feels like your mind may actually crumple and be forever lost in this underwater prison.
As you worries grow, your hold on the creature minds weakens and you fell your conscience being forcefully expelled from it, travelling the hundreds meters back to its original body.

When you wake up, the first thing you notice is the worried face of your little sister standing over you. The whole experience lasted less than five seconds but you fell like it has been hours since you last saw her.
She hugs you tenderly, her concerned expression being quickly replaced with happiness

“Thank the Gods you are back Jarson! I was so scared! You fell down and your body started shaking and trembling. What the hell happened?!”

You take a moment to answer. Having arms, legs and a mouth once again is a strange but welcome sensation.
“… I think I skinchanged into a Kraken.”- you admit

Leah stares at you dumbfounded, but laughs at your explanation
“You are insane! Those things are too distinct from us to be properly skinchanged into. Even I wouldn’t attempt that”

You spend a few minutes recovering and telling your curious sister how the entire experience unfolded. As scary and disturbing this event was it didn’t turn out to be entirely useless. You learned from it one of the hard limits of your gift. Skinchanging into creatures too disparate from your own morphology might just be impossible for now.

The remaining days on the sea are uneventful. You do your duties as captain, commanding the crew and keeping your ship trailing close behind your brother`s Cog. It has been 10 days at sea when you spot a large land formation on the horizon. You are immediately summoned to your brother`s ship together with your Cousin. It seems he wishes to speak and offer counsels one last time before you part way for good.

As you enter Jafir`s cabin, you spot him sitting by a small table on the back of the room. He has a map of the Westerlands opened before him.
You and Rodwin approach his position, prompting him to raise his eyes from the map. “That Landmass you see on the distance is Fair Isle. That means I must now continue south to the Reach. We will be parting ways for now, only to see each other back at the Boulder” – He moves his eyes to Rodwin - “Cousin, keep my brother safe. He is smart but young and might still require your experience.”

He returns his gaze to you. “As for you, brother I have a last minute debriefing for your appreciation. The Rulers of Fair Isle are from the The Farman House ,an old and distinguished Westerman noble family. Due to their unfortunate location they have a bad history of conflict with the Iron island, as such don’t expect a warm welcome. Lord Sebaston Farman is the current head of the House. I am afraid I don’t know much about his temperament or personality. He is his mid thirties, so if he has children they ought to be quite young.”

Jafir drink from a nearby cup before proceeding

“The other members of House Farman worth mentioning are his sisters. One of which is Lady Jeyne Farman. She is married to one of his bannerman and is said to be quite a lovely and kind woman. The other is a bastard girl by the name of Lanna Hill she is supposed to be around our age but I don’t know much more about her”- He concludes.

Noticing that your brothers is done with his speech you nod in agreement and thank him for the information.
Before sending you back to your Cog, he takes you and Rodwin in a fraternal embrace wishing you luck and promising to bring back some fancy arbor wine back to the Boulder when he returns.

You and Rodwin row back to your boat in complete silence, Jafir has just joined the ever growing list of family members you won’t see for a long time.
Returning to the Boat you are left with a final decision. Should you push now to reach Fair Isle by night or should you and the crew relax and arrive tomorrow morning?

>Push to arrive in the middle of the night

And will you dock at the port or have the ship stay anchored by the bay?

You keep a comfortable steady speed and by dawnbreak your Cog touches the port of Fair Isle. The first thing you notice during your aproach is how charming and alluring the large island is. Unlike the barren rock you call home, this Isle is filled with exuberant vegetation and ample green fields. Its Port, while not as imposing as the ones from Oldtown or Kings Landing, is still an order of magnitude larger than any harbor from the Iron islands.

A small but homely town surrounds the port and further in, you catch a glimpse of the majestic Faircastle, the seat of House Farman.

Your veteran crew efficiently secures the ship to the harbor while you prepare to go ashore. You take note of the inventory of the ship and delegate the acquiring of new provisions to the quartermaster.

With a bright sun now shining over your head, you finally set foot on land. Your mission is quite clear: find someone to buy or trade your cargo and, if possible, establish a long term trading route. Although not necessary, Interacting with the local nobles could be profitable while also holding its own set of inherent dangers.

You step out of the ship alone into this foreign harbor. Your sister protested at first, wanting to go with you, but when you instructed her to take care of Jaws during your absence she seemed to calm down. You instruct Rodwin to watch the ship and keep the crew in line until you return. He looks surprised and a bit worried by your decision to head in alone, but doesn’t question it.

As you walk down the wooden pier path you earn a number of curious stares. it’s clear, you look different enough from the local population to harness some attention. You were about to reach the end of the path, when an armed guard, clad in the colors of House Farman, directed you to a small Timber shack attached to the dock.

“All new ships arrivals must identify with the Harbor master”- he spits down near your foot. Delightful.

Following his instructions you enter the small structure where an elderly man lays seated on a crumpled desk filled with papers and books. He addresses you but doesn’t raise his eyes from the books

“Name of the ship and the captain please”- He asks

“I am the captain. My name is Jarson Physeter and the ships name is Lady Lexia” – you inform the bureaucrat.
Upon hearing your odd moniker he pauses and stares you down. It appears you have enticed his curiosity.

“And where do you hail from Captain… Jarson? And what business do you have in Fair Isle?”- His tone is wary and his expression stern.

You think for a bit before answering him:

You give the harbormaster an assertive reply

“I hail from the Lonely Light and I have come as a merchant to trade supplies and materials.”

The old man looks puzzled. He scratches his long beard as if trying to figure exactly what you meant. “Lonely Light…? The far-flung Ironborn archipelago on the Sunset Sea?”

You nod in acquiesce before adding your own explanation

“Unlike our brethren from the Main Islands we are not raiders and we didn’t even take arms against our rightful king Robert Baratheon during the Greyjoy Revolt. In fact, my house has prospered for generations relying solely on trade and fishing, which has earned us no small contempt by most Ironborns.”

The Elderly bureaucrat appears flabbergasted by your answer. You start to fear he may actually deny you access to the city before he bursts out laughing.

“An Ironborn Merchant! In the Westerlands! Now I have seen it all… Say what you will about King Robert, but he really did a miracle if he managed to convince Ironborn to become traders.”- He speaks amid his chuckling. It seems he ignored most of your statement.

The Harbormaster continues

“Aye, you and your ship are allowed into the city Ironborn merchant . But Westerlands law demands any Ironborn vessel docked to be inspected for stolen cargo or captives. I am sure you understand. If after the search everything is found in order your crew will be welcomed into Fair Isle.”- He concludes

You give the Harbormaster the go ahead. He immediately summons three guards from outside the shack and tell them to accompany you to your Ship. You and your armed escort make for the docked Cog.

Noticing you and three armed man approaching the ship, your cousin instinctively moves his hand to the sword hilt on his belt. Before the situation could escalate any further, you talk him down and he submits for the research with a bitter frown marking his physiognomy.

The Harbor Guards sniff through the cog like starving wolves. They check every room, crevice and box for incriminating evidence but ultimately find nothing. One of the guards breaks from the rest of the group, to ask your little sister repeatedly if she isn’t a captive or salt wife much to the young girl’s annoyance.

Rodwin stands on the deck observing the whole operation and loudly scoffing every time the guards go past him. Eventually he strolls to your position near the main mast, anger and indignation clear in his face.

“We will always be shit for them you know? It matters not that Our House hasn’t raided a single ship or island in a hundred years, for the Mainland we will always be savages like the people of Pyke” – He pounds his right hand at the mast with enough force to make it vibrate – “And for the rest of the Ironborn we will always be outsiders. Greenlanders pretending to be part of them. We don’t belong anywhere and that won’t change anytime soon.”

He has a point. It’s no secret that The Lonely Light Houses were always seen with distrust by both Ironborns and Andals. Its culture heavily linked to The First Man traditions and its Isolated geographic position did little to alleviate this.

You raise your head to meet your Cousin’s eye line.

“It has always been like that. We are too isolated and too irrelevant for others to feel like we deserve distinction from the Iron Islands. Are you merely venting or do you see a solution, coz?”

The tension on his features eases a bit, a confident smile replacing it.

“For far too long our ancestors have favored an isolationist policy. We need to get more involved in Westeros! Show that the people of the Lonelly Light can contribute to the Kingdom. Jafir is smart, but he still lacks the will and determination to push us into becoming a real share of Westeros.”- He concludes

You have little time to consider Rodwin words. Before one of the Harbor guards interrupt your conversation

“You are clear Ironborn. You and your crew can go ashore and trade in the markets but if they cause any trouble I will hang them myself”. With these words the three guards depart your ship leaving a considerable mess behind.

As the soldiers leave, Rodwin suggests you let the crew go ashore to relax and enjoy the town while they can. Will you allow the crew to go ashore?

>Yes

>Yes, but they must sleep on the ship

Finally, with the business with the Harbormaster concluded you enter the town unopposed.
You need to find buyers for your cargo and when its done you might have some leisure time. Where shall you head first?

Since you are already at the docks you decide the best move is to ask for leads around. The dock workers aren’t too thrilled to speak to you at first but a few coins change their minds quite effectively. Unfortunately for you, it turns out most of the ships around are either returning from the North or heading in that direction. As such, demand for your Cargo isn’t that high.

You eventually find a captain heading north willing to buy your cargo of Iron.
He offers you 5 kg of silver for each ton of Iron, a rather mediocre price. When you question it, he admits the expense and time needed carrying this cargo north corrodes the price he is willing to offer you for it.

As you haggle with the Captain a young girl sitting at a nearby bench observes your exchange with curious eyes.

You ask the captain if he knows her and he nods. “A noble bastard that one, I think her name is Lanna. But don’t let that cute face fool you, I have been told she is quite the mischievous rascal.”

You consider your next steps carefully.

You try to haggle with the Merchant Captain but he is far more experienced and tenacious than you imagined. He doesn’t concede a single inch and keeps his offer of 5 kg of silver per ton of Iron.

He does however urge you to decide quickly as he must set sail in three hours and moving the cargo between the ships would take at least a few hours.

You feel tempted to take the deal, but in the end your trade instincts kick in and you decline the offer. The captain seems slightly disappointed by your refusal, nevertheless he shakes your hand and wishes you luck before leaving to board his ship.

You consider heading to the Craftsman district next but before you can act on that thought, the girl who had been observing your exchange approaches. As she gets closer you start to realize how beautiful she really is. She is about half a head taller than you with long blonde hair, deep blue eyes and delicate features.

You get a bit anxious as your teenager mind can’t help but feel mesmerized by this approaching angel. She stops half a meter from you and stares you down before speaking.

“I thought you were going to fall for that offer. You are indeed smarter than you look ”- She brushes a strand of hair away from her eyes – “So I heard you are one of the infamous Ironborn? Can’t say you look the part. People here make them out to be brutish demons of immense size and strength clad in mismatch iron and bones armor.”

Her voice is confident and taunting. No matter how innocent she looks her devilish gaze displays a more ruthless persona.

“Yes my lady. I am indeed an Ironborn but from a different breed. May I ask who are you and why were you observing my exchange with the merchant captain?”

She laughs at your answer. “You talk in a rather fanciful way for a sea raider. But since you are so curious, my name is Lanna Hill. The reason I observed your talks? Curiosity basically. This Isle is a rather dull one and is a rare thing for something exotic to show up at our shores.”

As she speaks you feel light rain drops landing on your head. Staring up to the sky, you notice large gray clouds in reunion. Lanna perceives the rain as well and looks slightly annoyed.

“Curse this weather. It seems we will have to cut our conversation short Mr.Ironborn. Unless you would be so kind to accompany this lady to Faircastle…”- she points to the large castle at the edge of the city

You have a brief window of time to think:

Why? The men of the craftsman district can wait. They don't know we're here and people are always more willing to make a deal at the close of business.
To go there first would be snubbing Alanah, and depending on her relationship with the lord could be considered snubbing the entire Farman family. Not only that but if we make a deal with the craftsmen we can't make a deal with Farmans which makes the invitation to their castle almost pointless.

Lanna offer proves to tantalizing and you decide to delay your visit to the Craftsman district for now. As soon as you accept her invitation she links her left arm to your right arm and leads you through the quaint streets of Fair Isle.

“So, you still haven’t told me your name Mr. Ironborn. Or the reason you wear that cute whale symbol on your clothes.”- She traces a finger down your chest where a black whale sigil is crudely displayed.

You blush a bit. “Oh I apologize, Lady Lanna. I am Jarson Physeter and the creature on my chest is the sigil of my House. It’s no mere whale though, but the mighty Leviathan that dominates the northern high seas and the ocean depths.”- You proudly proclaim

Throughout the rest of the way to Faircastle, Lanna makes small talk and occasionally stops to point out shops and landmarks of the small town. From these exchanges, you learn she is the bastard daughter of the late Lord Farman who passed away six years ago. Now her brother Sebaston rules fair castle. You tried to probe information on what kind of man her brother is but she was dismissive of the topic.

Eventually you reach the gates of Faircastle where two Farman Guards stand vigil. They recognize the bastard girl immediately but halt her entrance due to your presence.
The older of the two guards addresses Lanna with a heavy tone:

“Who is the foreigner? Lord Sebaston made it clear we are not to allow any more of your friends in the castle unless you ask for his permission first.”

She gives the guard a provoking glance.
“My friend over here is no mere commoner but a noble from outside Fair Isle” –she points to the sigil on your clothes before continuing – “Now unless you want to interfere with a business opportunity or a match agreement you should let us pass right this instant."

The Guards seem defeated by her speech and humbly let you both pass through the gates unopposed. As you both stand in the middle of the castle main hall, Lanna unties her hair and speaks

“Thank you for accompanying me Jarson. I will go take a bath now but you are welcome to join me and my family for lunch in the dining hall in a bit. I reckon it must be a while since you had a fresh unpreserved meal.”

She starts to walk away, heading to her chambers. Do you want to talk about anything before she leaves?

Before Lanna could retreat further into the castle, you reclaim her attention
“Before we part ways, I was wondering which members of your family might be joining us for lunch”

The blonde beauty doesn’t seem particularly interested in your question.
“I guess my brother will eat with us. He doesn’t leave the Castle much. Maybe my sister will be there too. But honestly don’t expect much of them, they are bores. Not even remotely as fun as yours truly” – she winks at you mischievously

You link a final question before your lose her attention completelly and she disappears from your sight.
“And where should I await you? The dining hall?”

She gives you a playful smile. “Oh, talk to the castle steward, he will direct you to a guest room. Tell him you are my betrothal or something if he gives you any sass. You should probably take a bath too. No offense, but you smell of seawater and fish” –She giggles and leaves before you can question her any further.

And just like that you are left alone in the empty halls of Fair Castle. It would have been awfully nice of her to actually direct you to the Steward but it probably never crossed her mind that you don’t know shit about this castle. You consider wandering aimless through the keep but luck smiles on you as you spot a servant girl cleaning the corner of a nearby window.

Not wishing to squander your best hope of finding some direction in this stone maze, you approach the maid and hail her:

>ask where you can find the Castle Steward

When you call her attention, the servant girl stumbles in surprise and knocks over the bucket of water next to her. Water flows along the dark stone floor stopping an inch from your boots.

“S-sorry my Lord, I didn’t expect anyone to be here right now. The castle has been rather empty since Lady Lanna was forbidden from bringing her friends over. Now it’s actually a little scary. All these empty rooms! And I swear sometimes I fell like something is watching me…”- She rambles on

You interrupt the absentminded maid before she leads the conversation astray.
“Actually I am one of Lady Lanna’s friends. She told me I should head to the guest rooms and then meet her later at the dining hall. Could you help me with directions?”

The woman regains her composure and seems to finally focus.
“Oh! Of course. Just head up these stairs and take the second door to the right. It’s a Black door you can’t miss it. The dining hall is on this floor, right through that corridor!”- She points to your left

You thank her and start making your way to the guest chambers. Climbing up the stairs you can’t help it but compare this castle to the one your family owns back at the boulder. Faircastle, though not that large, manages to be more majestic than any castle you have ever entered. The walls are decorated with paintings of naval battles; blue tapestries grace the corners every window, the very floor is charmingly composed of black shining rocks somewhat akin to dragon glass.

At last you reach the guest room, finding it unlocked. Inside you spot a comfortable queen-sized bed and a desk but not much more. A side door leads to a washroom where towels and a tub filled with water rest in await of the next guest.

Following Lanna’s advice seems to be the priority. Now that you are in a closed environment and actively paying attention to your own smell, you realize you do indeed emanate a slightly unpleasant scent of salt water and fish. But, considering you had just spent a week at sea without a single bath it could honestly be much worse.

You enter the side room attached to the guest dorm where the bathtub is located. The water is not heated, but room temperature is good enough for you.

A collection of scented herbs and liquids sit on a shelf nearby. You randomly select a few of them and chug it at the water while you undress. You throw your used clothes on a nearby chair and finally enter the bathtub. The cool water instantly relaxes your muscles and eases your mind. In this brief moment of respite and rest, you close your eyes and think about your family. Has Jafir reached Crakehall already? How are your parents faring back at the Boulder? Was it wise to bring Leah with you?

You start to wash yourself and new thoughts flood your mind. You still haven’t realized what kind of girl Lanna is and if following her here was a good idea. She seems very different from the girls back home…maybe all Westerland woman are this unpredictable?
Regardless, she is your ticket to a free quality meal and an opportunity to talk with the Lord of this Isle, Sebaston Farman.

You finish scrubbing yourself and exit the water felling reinvigorated and pristine. Your odor of fish and ocean has been delicately replaced by a light scent of roses and flowers. Frankly, the flowery flagrancy is a bit nauseating for your rustic nose; you imagine this is what a pompous reachman probably smells like.

Drying yourself with one of the towels in the room you proceed to the bedroom only to realize you didn’t bring a change of clothes. You could wear your old dirty clothes but that would considerably reduce the effectiveness of the bath you just took.

As you consider what to do next, you hear a knocking on the wooden door.
“Jarson? Are you there?”

Before you can muster a response the door flings open and a cheerful Lanna stands in front of you. Apparently you forgot to lock the door.

Lanna’s jolly expression morphs into embarrassment as she now notices you are standing stark naked in the middle of the room. She blushes intensively but doesn’t say a word.

In this moment of discomfort you decide to:

>cover yourself

You also speak to her and chose to:

Perhaps it was the adrenaline rush, perhaps it was just a lapse of sanity, but for some reason you don’t feel nearly as ashamed as you rightfully should feel in this situation. Instead of reaching for the safety of your towel and hastily covering yourself, you choose to stand your ground, completely nude, in front of Lanna. Staring confidently at the girl’s alluring blue eyes, you break the awkward silence:

“Do I smell better now Lady Lanna?”- To assert your point you even take a few steps closer to her.

Upon hearing your words, the bastard girl seems to slightly recover from her state of utter shock. She can only mutter half an answer while trying to keep he eyes up.
“Uhh y-yes, you look – I mean, you smell much better. I t-trust the bath was a relaxing one?”

She doesn’t mention your nudity at all. It seems she doesn’t want to give you the satisfaction of knowing she is uncomfortable with the situation despite her nervous face and demeanor absolutely betraying this ploy.

Standing three foot away from her, you produce another question:

“Do you know where I could find some clean clothes? My travelling attire is far too filthy to be properly worn right now…”

She points to a nearby discreet wardrobe. “There should be s-some clothes there. I am sure you will find something to fit your size .”
As you turn around to take a look at the hidden closet she just mentioned, you could swear you saw Lanna sending furtive glances to your lower regions. Your eyes meet again and she blushes crimson. You are about to address her once more before she cuts you out, apparently having recovered some more of her composure.

“I am sure you got everything you need! I will be waiting downstairs at the dining hall. Don’t take too long, slowpoke!”- She doesn’t wait for an answer and bolts the door. Outside the room you can hear her steps quickly fading away.

Once again you are alone in the guest room. No matter what you hoped to accomplish with this number, it’s undeniable that it was fairly entertaining. Not only that, but under a certain light ,this event was the furthest you have been with the opposite gender, since you can’t recall any other time where you stood naked with a beautiful woman in the same room.
You wonder if you should tell this story later to Rodwin. He will surely find it humorous if nothing else

In the wardrobe you find a number of light shirts and pants too large for your teenager frame, but with clever usage of the leather belt from your travel clothes you mange to make everything more or less fit. To complete your attire, you procure the blue leather vest with the Whale Sigil from the pile of dirty clothes and done it above everything else. Checking a mirror, you decide you look and smell decent enough as not to cause any strife during lunch and that’s high time you made for the dining hall.

You exit the room and speed down the stairs, then, following a well lit corridor you finally reach your destination. Entering the large room you spot three individual already seated around an Imposing dining table.

At the head of the table is a large well dressed blonde man. You suppose this must be Lord Sebaston. To his left is a woman in her thirties and further left sits Lanna.

Thanks to the loud noise the wooden door produced on your arrival, all the heads have turned to face you. You must decide quickly what to do.

>sit next to Lord Sebaston, to his right

You introduce yourself to the assembled hosts and gracefully take a seat to the right of Lord Sebaston. Your mouth waters in delight as you take notice of the many delicacies spread around the table. Fresh cuts of salmon on a sweet honey sauce are the main dish but far from the only one. Crisp salted vegetables, enormous mushrooms and a selection of fancy cheeses also find a spot on the rich banquet.

Your stomach rumbles, and as painful as it is to keep your focus out of the food, you remember you have a mission here. Business before pleasure as the saying goes.
You look over to your left where Sebaston is about to initiate a toast.

“To our guest Jarson Physeter ,who has come all the way from the Iron Islands to honor us with his presence.”- He raises a glass of wine up high, being followed by the two Ladies to his left.

You lift up your own beverage in acknowledgment.“Thank you, Lord Farman. It’s not often my House receives such a hospitable welcome in the Westerlands.”

The Large sturdy man nods affirmatively. “Yes, it’s true Ironborns and Westerlanders have a long history of conflict…But I follow a doctrine of forgiveness and amendments. If good King Robert could see in his heart to allow Balon Greyjoy to keep his head who am I to deny an Ironborn trader a warm greeting? Though I am curious… From where in the Iron Islands you come from? I am sorry but I don’t know much about House Physeter and that whale sigil of yours, while interesting, doesn’t give me much information either.

The answer is simple, but as you are about to autistically ramble about the history and particularities of your House you think this might be a good opportunity too plant the seed of change. This could be a important decision…

>Tell them where you are from but don’t differentiate yourself from the ironborns.(this might propagate the idea that the Ironborns are not all savages raiders)

>Tell them where you are from, distance yourself from other ironborns, but don’t differentiate yourself from Farwynd and other houses in the Lonelly Light. (This might propagate the Idea of the Lonelly Light archipelago as a civilized area of the iron islands)

>Tell them where you are from and make sure to separate yourself from the Ironborn as much as you can. (this might allow your House and your House alone to be seen as somewhat civilized in comparison to other Ironborn nobles)

(sorry for the delay, had a busy weekend)

“My house is from in the Lonely Light archipelago, the westernmost region of the Kingdom, all the way into the sunset sea.”- You explain – “You see Lord Sebaston, being so far removed from the main iron islands it’s only natural we have developed different traditions and cultural practices to the Ironborns of Pyke and Harlaw…"

The Farman noble looks intrigued by your statement. “The Lonely Light? That’s fascinating. You swam a long way to reach the land of the lions little whale.”- He takes a long drink from his wine chalice– “Even more fascinating is the fact that, according to you, the Lonely Light has distinctive customs. If I may ask, how different are you from other Ironborns?”
You subtly smile. He took your bait
“Well for starters, we are descendants of the First Man like the northerners. The cult of the Drowned God is not really as widespread an in the Iron Islands, Lonely Lighters mainly worship the Old Gods. Raiding, pillaging and plundering is also very rare, our people subsist and thrive as fisherman and merchants. Just like our ancestors we are sailors, explorers and traders.”- You conclude

Lanna, who has kept quiet since you arrived finally, interjects. She smiles mischievously as she speaks. “Ugh, boring. You will put the whole table to sleep. Tell us something actually exciting about your Islands. Do people there really mate with seals? Is it true that the sunset sea around the Lonely Light is cursed? What about that Lord who threw-”

“LANNA!” –Lord Sebaston voice is commanding and decisive- “I will not suffer your childish provocations during lunch, if you want to tease and annoy your guest with infantile discussions you will do it away from my presence.”

Ouch. The table lies silent for a second. Lanna looks ready to reply but a look from the older woman next to her makes the girl reconsider.

Sebaston’s irritated visage quickly fades, in mere moments he has returned to his smiling and jovial self. With a sly grim he returns to your conversation. “My sister might not have appreciated it but I found this little trivia about the Lonelly Light islands fairly interesting… but I wonder, with such cultural disparities how does the Lonely Light houses feel about the Greyjoys and their ruling?

You reflect on his question and reply:

>There could be no better rulers for the iron islands than Balon Greyjoy and his family. Though they have a different culture from us we are proud to have him as our liege.

>We don’t really see eye to eye with the Greyjoys. It’s no secret we didn’t take part in his revolt five years ago, but Balon is our Liege and we shall remain loyal as long as he doesn’t threaten the integrity of the seven kingdoms again.

>It baffles me why Robert spared Balon. Greyjoys have done nothing productive for the Iron Islands during their 300 years as Lords Paramount. Not to mention that the Greyjoys long history of rebellions and raiding has contributed in no small measure to the Iron islands continual refusal to embrace more civilized ways.

>Well, how do you feel about the Lanisters?

“We don’t really see eye to eye with the Greyjoys. It’s no secret we didn’t take part in his revolt five years ago, but Balon is our Liege and we shall remain loyal as long as he doesn’t threaten the integrity of the seven kingdoms again” – You admit

Sebaston gives you a sympathetic nod. “Must be hard being sworn and tied to a man whose ideals and culture you do not share”

“Regardless, even if we wanted to defy him the Lonely Light lacks the resources and strength to mount any meaningful opposition. It is our burden and our duty to be forever linked to the Greyjoys” –You add on

The Large man seems somewhat moved by your words. “There is no need to be so dramatic little whale. Balon is an aging man with no small amount of enemies. Meanwhile, his only heir is being fostered at Winterfell by Eddard Stark himself. Maybe in a few years The Iron Islands shall finally be ruled by a more enlightened Greyjoy.”

Sebaston words hang on your mind. Indeed, Theon Greyjoy is being raised and educated by northerners. Balon has what? 15 years more of ruling? After he is gone, Theon, raised on the north, will likely be wiser and better learned than many of his Greyjoy ancestors.

As you are about to continue the exchange, the woman to the left of your host decides to speak. “I think we have discussed enough politics dear husband. After being at sea for more than a week, our guest probably wishes to debate more auspicious subjects than the political struggles of the Iron Islands”

“Yes, you are right dear. Sorry little Jarson, I sometimes get carried away…”- He stares at you and smiles jovially - “ As our guest today, Is there any other particular topic you wish to discuss?”

“I was hoping we could talk business since I still have a cargo that needs selling”- You smirk slightly

“And what are the contents of this cargo, young Jarson?”- The Farman lords asks with renewed curiosity

“Around ten tons of Iron and the same in whale bones”

Lord Sebaston produces a small booklet from his pockets and open it next to his plate. “I have no use for the remains of whales but that iron sound appealing. As a matter of fact, Fair Isle has a bit of trouble acquiring such material. Being an island with few mineral resources and away from the main trading lanes of Westeros our ferric supplies are limited.Maybe we could help each other?”

“What do you propose my lord?”-You explore his proposition

“A simple and fair trade. Wood for Iron. I know of the Iron islands lack of trees and I can’t imagine the Lonely Light fares any better. You have too much Iron and I have too much wood, both are fundamental resources for any Keep and securing a trade would be profitable for both our Houses”- Sebaston checks some notes on his book before proceeding- “I offer you 3 tons of quality wood for every ton of iron you bring me, Ironborn”- he concludes

This is the chance of establishing a trade route with Fair Isle or you could just try to sell your current cargo of wood for silver and gold and be on your way. The possibilities expand in your mind;

>Establish trade route, and try to sell your current cargo
>Don’t establish trade route but try to sell your current cargo
