You are Lieren of Nothing, Son of Wenyan, and triumphant victor in the war against Tyranny. Having bested the devil Huli Jing, the beguiler of dynasties, in bloody personal combat you have after a near year of warfare, dethroned the Yan Tyrants and removed them as a threat to your work of bringing prosperity and plenty to every corner of Shangrala.

Having been declared king without your consent, you decreed that the populace would decided their ruler themselves, to allow them the freedom of choice and to give yourself time to deceive a way to prevent the crown from falling upon your brow, alongside its numerous responsibilities and burdens settling on your shoulders.

Entrusting the task of dismantling the remaining power structure and influences of the Yan dynasty, as well as the establishment of Organization who would be given the duty of bringing relief to regions badly affected by poverty and famine to your most trusted officers and friends. As well the responsibility of making good on the promises and oaths you had made by letter to the four remaining provinces that had remained loyal to the Yan to the very end.

While you returned to Nothing, briefly, to care for your adoptive father, before leaving once more to make good on the promise you made to the living Ship Kanzeon, and alleviating her loneliness as together the two of you studied the mechanical egg that birthed you, and the technology within her metal body.

Now, with her blessings, you were choosing a gift to take from Kanzeon to give to the world above...
-
The decision was an agonizing one, each choice presented a road to a better future for all peoples upon Shangrala. It was no simple task as simply taking a prize and returning it to the surface, like a gift taken the heavens themselves. The decision of which gift to take from Kanzeon and to present to the people in her place, would have grave consequences and alter the course of history no matter what gift you took from her. For you agreed with her, at least partially, that the wonders of her body and the arcane technologies that composed it, could easily be abused. That is why the prospective gifts were narrowed down to what you understood and were able to comprehend in both function and purpose.

The "Water generating stones". Wonderous devices that could produce pure, untainted water from the elemental and chemical reactions within the air and beneath the sun. While such technology would eliminate the dangers of famine entirely, they could be used as weapons most foul if they were to fall into the hands of villains with the intellect to divine the exact method of the seemingly spontaneous generation of water. And only Kanzeon could produce such treasures. Such dependency could not be allowed to take root, even if she is benevolent and kind.

"A painful choice, but one I well understand. Your wisdom truly shines when you are forced to make such difficult decisions" Kanzeon sighs, her "breath" carrying throughout her ventilation systems and rumbling the empty halls of which it sprawls throughout , like a countless veins and capillaries

As for the caches of seeds and preserved plant life Kanzeon has shown and offered to you, while they would bring a greater variety to the diet of the common folk and peasantry, they were still foregin to Shangrala's soil and intended to spread and propagate with ease beneath even the most harsh conditions. While they were the ancestors of a good number of the flora you had encountered, they were still alien and could easily pervert the natural beauty of Shangrala, while offering little in terms of benefits for such a risk. Your own methods of fertilization and cultivation already rivaled the bounty such ancient produce could bring, even while combined with the knowledge of hydroponics. Perhaps they could be used to hasten the healing of the Cui region, but you had ensured those abused lands would be healed without your direct intervention years ago.

"And that is not even mentioning the time it would take for the people's digestive systems to properly adjust to the greater yield of nutrition, but you are already well experienced with that particular hurdle" Kanzeon says somewhat sorrowfully.

"Precisely, even my more mundane improvements in the basic diet of laborers and lords alike, needed to be introduced in stages to keep their bodies from initially rejecting the vitamins and minerals they desperately needed" You sigh yourself, setting the notes and schematics pertaining to both the stones and cultivation of ancient seeds aside "Though it would not be a long period of adjustment, I cannot risk the splendor of Shangrala's wilds for such a miniscule improvement of nutrition"

"Nor can I, judging from the samples you have brought to me, the world has adapted despite the...intrusion of my sisters and I, which was our purpose. In a way, it would be sullying our legacy and that of our passengers" Kanzeon says, her words warm yet distant in reminiscence of ages long since past and forgotten

And while Kanzeon holds many detailed records and catalogues of medical knowledge, concerning the treatment of injuries, diseases and even inborn maladies that even with the knowledge you have gathered in your lifetime, seemed like mere fantasy at best and the lies of charlatans at worse they could not be easily spread and introduced to society at large. As the majority required the advance faculties and wonderous technologies of Kanzeon. But such study was not pointless, as you had learned numerous techniques and chemical formulas that would somewhat improve the standards of treatment and medical care within the former kingdom of Yan.
cont
>>
>>4795072

"And I had offered to treat the worst injuries myself, but from what you have informed me, my landing and imprisonment here has rendered the surrounding lands and caverns rather inhospitable to human life" Kanzeon mutters ruefully as the lights of the quarters she had bequeathed to you briefly flash fiery hues of orange and red.

"An obstacle we shall overcome in the coming years, no danger is eternal. Every threat can be quelled or otherwise suppressed" You say casually as you gather the various blueprints and records of machinery far more advance than the technology of any nation of Shangrala.

While such instruments and mechanisms could be discovered and replicated without Kanzeon's direct intervention, it would take decades or even generations for such knowledge to be widespread and accepted. For such technology to be created independently, would require a great price. A toll that would be paid by Shangrala herself. Metals that the mere mining and harvesting of would pollute and taint her waters. Industry so advance that it would spread and burn away her beauty, forever marring her face, corrupting the landscape and soiling the purity of her foggy air.

The lights shift and change to a deep and sorrowful shade of blue, the color of the skies at night before a storm. Sighing, you can already hear Kanzeon's response to the worries and fears you still hold concerning the spread of industry and its practices.

"Such damages are inevitable, it why your kind spread throughout the stars. They drained the planet from which they originated of all useable resources, polluting it so gravely in their expansion they abandoned it for new homes. Such damages are simply the result of progress" Kanzeon says quietly, knowing you refuse to believe in such a cynical concept that all nature must be perverted and abused if any progress is to be achieved "it is the truth, no matter how much you wish it wasn't, Lieren"

"We are born in the world, all men share the same cradle from birth to death. Do not abuse the world, do not wound it in search of glittering gems, do not poison its lakes, do not tear down its forests without reason" You answer, reciting a passage from the Journey, one of its core tenants, as Kanzeo sighs. The distant machinery churning in her bowels grinds and groans, telling you she is pained and somewhat shamed by your response.

"It remains impressive that your ability at spotting emotion and intent and perceiving tells, remains effective with a mechanical being such as myself" Kanzeon says, her voices rumbling within the walls surrounding you.

You just wag a finger in response and continue reciting the verse.

"Every creature upon the world is a member of our family. A blade of grass holds more value than any gem from the earth" You say impassioned, pressing a hand between your twin hearts as your voice soars and reverberates off the walls still shaken by Kanzeon's words
Cont

"Nature is not an enemy, nor a resource, it is our mother, our father, our home. Treat it as such, care for it as such. For every tree you fell, plant two. Do not pollute water as you take it in a pail, do not scar the land to build a monument. Do not block the flow of the stream or river, take no more than you need to from nature, be it lumber, stone, grain or meat. For, like any form of life, nature itself may be poisoned, may be wounded. Care for it."

"Sometimes the ardor with which you cling to your values and beliefs is exasperating, even if I agree with their sentiments" Kanzeon mutters, as the lights slowly shift to a bright and serene hue of green. The color of a forest in spring.

"Though I do not understand, why you would not take knowledge of more advance industrial machinery and technology to the surface, A single replication of but one of the foundries would be able to improve the standards of livings for countless lives" Kanzeon questions sharply. But she already knows the answer to that particular decision.

"Single. One. They would be reliant on you for such a treasure, and if they could not contact you to be gifted further, it would become an object to be fought over, to be worshipped. While there are treasures within you, that could eliminate many of the obstacles I am resolved to overcome such as pollution and the squandering of nature's beauty" You explain rapidly, speaking with such haste that only yourself, Kanzeon or perhaps one of your brother Primarchs, could understand your speech "Or so greatly raise the standard of living that men would live as gods, given all of the comforts of fabled heaven. But, such treasures would force them to be dependent upon you or myself. And I cannot inflict such a curse upon any society , yet alone that which are my kin and kindred"

"They will still abuse the gift of the technology you give to them, eventually. It is human nature" Kanzeon replies sadly, relenting in the argument knowing their will be no convincing you otherwise.

"If they are possessed by the spirit of avarice, perhaps" You answer simply and confidently "The industry I shall give to them, the machines and vehicles, can be replicated with minimal impact upon the world's ecosystem with proper knowledge and care, and be reproduced by anyone with proper training. It is a gift, that can be given to all and maintained as long as knowledge of construction remains"

"I suppose I should be content that my gift will at least bring about an ascension away from this planet's present primitive state" Kanzeon reassures herself, speaking happily again "Even if I am kept from bringing about greater refinement and technological upgrades to its inhabitants"

"A starving man will glut himself to death upon a feast if offered" You reply, Kanzeon sighs again.

and quietly mutters "I know" In reply.
cont
>>
>>4795078

"I am sorry that I must restrain your generosity, but its for the good of the people and the land" You say sadly as Kanzeon's breath whips around you.

"I'm only allowing them this knowledge because I trust you to restrain their baser natures, Lieren. If any other asked for such a gift, I would refuse them" Kanzeon says bitterly

Gathering the records detailing the construction and use of the machinery and vehicles you shall bring with you to the surface, you turn towards the nearest stream of light to the desk your are seated at, and with a smile, attempt to reassure Kanzeon

"Besides, it is not as if that knowledge is the only gift I will bring to them" You say with a merry grin, the lights showing Kanzeon's rising joy as they shift between bright and vivid hues of green and gold, like sunlight falling upon the branches of an ancient tree unshrouded by fog "And the other is not something taken from you"

"But rather you, or to be accurate, your origin" Kanzeon chuckles in reply "To think that humanity would produce technology more advance than myself while I slumbered.

And the research to achieve and understanding of such technology, has revealed such boundless wisdom to your mind.

How to harness that innate connection you hold to the "Empyrean", and how to consciously harness the energies that passed not only through your soul but through all souls. The power that Guozhi used to contact you in the Celestial Incarnation palace, this...Psykerism. This revelation combined with your prior understanding of the other world, has given to you a deeper understanding of its nature and that of its inhabitants.

And the dangers they inherently present.

However, that is not the only secret derived from the mechanical egg that brought you to this world. No, a secret of sorcery and a secret of technology are now yours as well as the secret of the mind, the knowledge of pyskers and the potential power they wield. And, if held by one blessed with the gift of Psykerism, such as yourself, Guozhi, or upon reflection a few odd characters you've encountered in your travels, be turned into a rather effective weapon against the denizens of the spirit world by acting as a focus of sorts, of belief and hatred.

The wards and protections placed upon your crib by your regretful "birth" father, that must have guarded you from the whatever powers brought you to Shangrala. Which you have studied and now understand the exact geometrical shapes and sigils required to summon forth the same arcane protection that once shielded your infantile form from the predators of the Empyrean and their corruptive touch. And implant it into certain substances.

A sort of nullification field, that denied such energies, forming an ethereal shield around the "Null Denouncement Charm" as you have chosen to name these magical wards against evil.
cont
>>
>>4795084

They produce a field that shields all within it, in an area dependent upon the material and intricacies of the glyphs carved upon its surface, as well as the wearers ambient force of will.

But, perhaps more exciting, is the fact that you have found the method of your own creation, or fragments at least. Kanzeon did not understand the information, but you did. A string of code, of genetics, that could produce a vessel of suitable strength to withstand a soul of great psychic potency. The knowledge of how to create yourself, a primarch, remains lost to you, as there were strange gaps in the record of the process, of which only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction were recorded within the egg. But, there was enough, to understand how to weave and build a body that could withstand the presence of a somewhat more potent soul or several at once. If the proper faculties were used.

it would be a costly endeavor, but, with the right precautions It may be possible to give Kanzeon a body of flesh and blood, by creating an empty shell that could play host to the vastness of her mind. It is all mere conjecture and theory, but if you could just understand what genetic markers allowed for a body that was equipped to deal with a being such as herself. An artificial life birthed by the same process as the Lotus scepter extracted memories, but at a far grander scale. One that drained the very essence of life from the...unfortunate souls used to facilitate her conception.

Then perhaps. Just perhaps. Kanzeon could walk among humanity, as one of their own or at least, as akin to them as you yourself were.

it would circumvent the cost of producing a drone for her to puppet, but...the costs of birthing such a vessel and the dangers associated with it were still unknown to you. But, perhaps...just perhaps, in your life time, you would discover the risks and means of such creation. And give Kanzeon the gift of mortal existence.

"Lieren? you've closed your mind to me for sometime...is something wrong?" Kanzeon frets, as you cease entertaining such wild hopes and dreams and smile

"Oh I was just meditating for a moment, nothing more" You reply happily, cupping your hands together and bowing.

"Whatever secrets you wish to keep from me, I will not attempt to pry from you" She replies dryly, accepting your privacy "Oh, allow me to rephrase that "The hidden treasures of your mind, shall remain in your sole possession, for it would be a grievous sin to steal them from your heart"

You can't help but to laugh, even though the remark was a teasing insult of your poetic manner of speech. But still, it would be a wonderful thing, to walk beside Kanzeon and hold her hand, feel the warmth of her pulse and feel her breath upon your face. To free her from the shackles of her being, the chains of her body.

How lovely, it'd be, to see her laugh and see more than naught but mist and light. It is...a dream you can allow yourself to entertain and fancy.

And you know it would be impossible to keep yourself from hoping for such a future.

A primarch-tier body for Shipfu would be really interesting, it's something I would support researching regardless of whether or not it seems possible. A headcanon that I love the idea of (but don't actually believe) is that one of the lost primarchs was female and was purged because she fell in love with a human and started having Nephilim-like offspring that Big E though threatened humanity. It'd be interesting to see if we could even make something genetically compatable with ourselves, let alone how people would react to it.

>their neurons are fried after being dead for so many years, resulting in feral tendencies and cannibalism
>rigor mortis results in the jerking movement displayed by such individuals, most commonly characterized by leaping at their prey
>>
>>4795531
If the talismans are called null fields, wouldn't that also trap the souls to the dead body?
>>
>>4795588
Or you could make it more grimdark and say that the souls basically end up experiencing that one horrible, horrible SCP death scenario because they're unable to go to the realm of souls.

Because ultimately, the 'warp' is the realm of souls, right? It's just been completely and utterly fucked up because of the War in Heaven and the Age of Strife.

I'm fairly certain that it probably was pretty nice before the Necrons fucked it all up. Knowing how the warp works, you probably ended up in whatever afterlife you believed in.
>>
>>4795567
>>4795588
>>4795602
That’s retarded enough to happen.
>>
>>4795605
It WILL most likely happen. It's a null field. You know what nulls are, right? They're not just 'anti-daemon' fields, they're literally anti-soul fields. If you used them to bury people, you'd just be trapping their souls in their bodies in some horrible way.

It'd be like a worse version of a dreadnought casket.
>>
>>4795605
Hey, the grimdark spares no one.
Best case scenario we have is using our human hope field to try and create a safe haven in the warp for people like in the Imperial Faith, but make it temporary so everyone ressurects.
>>
>>4795131
this is good
>>
>>4795611
Eh..The Imperial Faith is mixed. Some sources say it's real, then others go and make people who believe in the emperor do miracles. Like, can you really say he's not a god when stuff like Living Saints exist? By all meanings, he IS the God of Mankind.

So maybe believing in the emperor gets you special heaven place. Maybe no. Like with most 40k things, it's not clear.
>>
>>4795609
I shouldnt think so. if they were strong enough, then I dont see why the souls shlukdnt dissipate eventually.
>>
>>4795614
it's not real*

Point is, we should NOT use the null runes in rituals. In fact, we should do anything to ensure NO ONE will use those runes. In general, i HEAVILY disagree with trying to introduce Psykery into Yan Society.

Do we really want to end up like Prospero?
>>
>>4795619
A utopia of learning and culture, beautiful and well designed on every level with philosophy and knowledge shared freely and no man ever went hungry or without shelter, savagely razed due to the manipulations of horus?

Yeah, why the fuck wouldnt you want to be prospero? The only thing that sucked was the psychic wild life, which wasnt the psykers fault.
>>
>>4795632
It was obliterated because Magnus was dumb

One psychic fuckup and KABLEW IT
>>
>>4795614
That's why it would be a temporary haven, just good enough for people to ressurect before the daemons get to them.
And I'm inclined to believe that the Imperial Faith does actually work a bit. Most probably not the way it's preached about, but it has been showed that is has some significant powers, probably due to the shear size of the faithful imperial population and all the psyker sacrifices.
>>
>>4795638
Not really.
Russ was ordered to bring him in, then kill him, which led to the unfortunate situation of the planet being exterminated twice.

Psychic powers caused it to fall in the same way that art school caused ww2

I'm certain that won't end badly in any way...
>>
>>4795642
Resurrection does already happen in canon 40k as well, beyond things like Lucius the Eternal popping out of his killer's body with a new screaming face on his armour or Fabolous Bill moving on to the next clone body.

There's an entire faction of the Inquisition that's experimenting with resurrection to find a way to revive the Emperor, but they keep running into the problem that the resurrected tend to be pretty unhappy to be alive again.

Fuck I meant reincarnation, like the whole thing with our monk friend, but trying to see with it would be possible for the non-psyker population. Even if they never become able to retain their memories, atleast their soul isn't completly gone, or used to strengthen chaos.

Look here faggot, you don't fight the grimdark by falling to their traps, you do it by beating the shit out of them and defying the odds.
Don't put null fields on people graves, because a null isn't someone without psyker powers, it's someone that has a negative psykic presence, meaning it sucks warp presence in. Therefore you would trap souls in their graves.
That's why the reincarnation safe haven is the best bet, cause you don't need to carve out the warp to protect humanities souls and therefore play the Chaos gods game, you just get some small pocket to defend against, and people can live again. Which is kinda like the Emperors plan with the webway project, thinking about it.
So yeah, we can't avoid the grimdark by just playing into their hands, gotta do it in a roundabout way and get what you can.

Yeah, we got to fix that at some point.
But not too much, the Imperium still has to be an industrial juggernaught and be in total mobilization to survive the shitsgow that's the galaxy.
>>
>>4796684
"Fixing" the Imperium, or even a handfull of it's numerous flaws, is an unreasonably lofty goal. Even if we get the go-ahead from dad, the Imperium is massive. We'll have no way to ensure our solutions spread to every world, or even a whole percent of them. I remember someone talking about how we should preplace servitors, which would pretty much freeze ever facet of Imperial life in its tracks. We'll make things better for people, but I don't think our efforts will touch even a millionth of the galaxy's human population.
>>
>>4796694
If we manage to spread some new ways to manage all the sprawl and balance all the polution and over-population it would be a huge help. Reducing the nobility's decadence, improving the condition of the poorer populace and avoiding the incredibily over-the-top things that breed eternal discontent and therefore legiona of willing chaos workshippers would be very nice, but something that we would require a lot of reforms and mangement to do, so just take whatever progres we can really.
Perhaps trying to work with guilliman to ensure the administratum doesn't become too bloated or inefficient could be a good start.
>>
>>4796758
Also we should probably try to ensure a good system for supply lines, as proven by our road project, where one place is weak can be covered another strength.
A system of space fortresses that also serve as ports, warehouses and logistics centers to minimize the problems that supply routes through the warp can happen, maybe with an adeptus astronomicam garrison so they can mantain communication with eachother, so they can cover any resources shortages. Would just need to have a few emergency null axe boxes around, you know, just in case.

>>4796758
I don't know how well even that would work. The Imperium (on paper) operates in a class system where what you're born as isn't nearly so significant as your ability. A noble who ignores their responsibilities is meant to be cast down from nobility, whereas a talented enough person can rise to any height, if they're able to outcompete literally trillions of people (for example, the head of the Adeptus Arbites in the Calixis sector spent most of their early life as a smuggler).

And yet, the Imperium is still crammed full of idle nobility and sinecures, in spite of the Administratum and Orders Famulous' best efforts. The galaxy is simply too damn large to have any sort of centralized governance that would be needed to institute the sort of widespread reform you're talking about.

Reducing the nobility's decadence, improving the condition of the poorer populace and avoiding the incredibily over-the-top things that breed eternal discontent and therefore legiona of willing chaos workshippers would be very nice,
What I wish we could do
>but something that we would require a lot of reforms and mangement to do
The truth that it's improbable
>so just take whatever progress we can really.
Being happy with any victory.
>If we manage to spread some new ways to manage all the sprawl and balance all the polution and over-population it would be a huge help.
>The best realistic result we could have
Perhaps trying to work with guilliman to ensure the administratum doesn't become too bloated or inefficient could be a good start.
>An idea on how to try and achieve it.
And than there is the other post of setting up the fortress system, I copied our road is already setup and tried to change it a bit for space. Probably very expensive, but the extra layer of defenses and trade would pay itself back very quickly, and ease of travel is the best way for knowledge to propagate by itself.

Calling the vote now

Purposefully find a location steeped in the energies of the Empyrean, to test the Null denouncement:10

introduce Kanzeon's voice alongside her gifts to the likes of Cao Yunru, Shan, Shirong, and Dandan as you tutor the four on the mechanics of the new machinery and technology you bring.:16
-Also talk with Dandan alone about her distressing zeal when it comes to blowing people into fine red mist: 9

Check on the progress of the two edicts you passed:2
-And allow Kanzeon to speak to the capital and its virtuous inhabitants, like Luli:1

Find your teacher and friend Ghuonzi, his knowledge of spiritual matters can help better understand the Empyrean and this technology:1

Travel to the Cui lands , and gift a trusted friend the lordship of the region, after you "Discover" A previous unknown "underground spring' that brings a great lake to the center of the arid province.:1

Total votes: 17

So Lieren will purposefully seek out a location steeped in Empyreal energies to test the Null Denouncement charms

And then introduce Kanzeon to the mechanically and intellectually gifted of his followers as he tutors them on the use and maintenance of the new technologies he brings, and then talk to Dandan about her distressing enjoyment of artillery and its affects on the human body

Which will happen, AFTER he's tested the charms.

Your departure from Kanzeon is bittersweet. While you greatly enjoyed the time you spent in your company, the knowledge that you are once again abandoning her to languish alone in the stygian depths where has laid for eons weighs heavily upon your heart. Even if the radios she constructed will allow her to interact and converse with others besides yourself, it is a most inefficient salve for the great suffering she is still forced to endure beneath Shangrala's surface.

This truth darkens your thoughts, like the somber haze of a fog that settles after a heavy rain or the atmosphere of a graveyard whose inhabitants have been long forgotten in both face and name. Thankfully, with the unseen master's attentions fled away from the tunnels he once ruled over, the journey to the surface is peaceful despite the state of your mind. Though, with the greater knowledge you now hold concerning the nature and the distressing symptoms of over exposure to Empyreal energies, you give the corrupting gems a wide berth as you pass them by. Though you have thus far eluded the mutations and warping of the mind that is apparently inherent to such substances, relying on the chance that such good fortune will endure is the height of foolishness.

Men may call you the kin of panthers, but you have no great desire to appear as though you were. Imagine what your erstwhile family would think if they met you, and you bared claws and fangs? Or even fur! They wouldn't recognize you as a son or brother. Even kindly old Wenyan, your father and the man who is the reason you are Lieren rather than some emotionless living automaton would scarcely be able to perceive you as yourself if such a sorcerous malady befell you. Besides, the worse possibility is a magical beast that retains not only your prodigious strength, but your vast intellect and cunning as well.

A chill trickles down you spine like water from melting ice. Best not to even imagine such nightmarish scenarios, lest they sully the mind with their mere presence.

Sighing, you continue your march to the surface, past the ruins of the civilization that Kanzeon had sheltered in their decent to Shangrala, who fell to the wiles of the Unseen master and the promises powered by both the Empyrean and the Gems pervaded their mountain homes. Once, the sights filled you with a nearly feral sense of rage, but now that the history of this place was known to you, you could only feel sorrow as you looked upon all that remained of the legacy of Kanzeon's wards. Degenerated into monsters and slaves to a vile darkness.

A tragedy, that is known only to the two of you. A history forgotten, rightfully so, burned away from all records and myth. Completely cleansed and removed from the minds of the people. Condemned to such a fate by no fault of their own, at least at the start. In the end, abandoning their morals and virtues was their choice alone.

Even if they were manipulated to commit such abominable actions, that does render them blameless. Just like the Yan. Just like the adult tigerfolk.

The light of dawn's first rays, clears away the grim ponderings that have so besieged your mind, releasing you from their grasp as you step from the shadows beneath the cold earth and into the gentle warm fresh air of the Bone Devouring Forest in autumn.

And are greeted by an unexpecting sight. A gathering of monks, dressed in bone white robes the sleeves, hoods and hems of which were dyed various colors though the majority were left blank. Black, green jade, Plum, Azure, and Gold. Only one of them wore robes stained golden, and he too wore a mask of white jade that was undecorated except for channels into which bright yellow dye derived of dried pollen was poured into.

And beyond those golden mock eyes, two blue eyes as youthful as a newborn babes stared back at you proudly and joyously. Guozhi. And to his side, with Azure stained robes, stood Kuan im, whose cloudy eyes stared out from a porcelain mask. Guozhi, who is blessed with the power of a psyker, you can believe to be somehow capable of making the journey through this most inhospitable wilderness.

After all, before he revealed his ability to you, you had often wondered how he was able to travel so far and quickly despite his advance age. But Kuan im? And the other disciples that kneel behind the meditating Guozhi? That is strange indeed. Especially as a number of them appear to be, judging by their size and undisciplined posture, youths who had only recently left their childhoods behind.

"Lieren" Guozhi says, greeting you with the same warm geniality as he always has, as if he were merely inviting you to share within him freshly brewed tea while the two of you discussed philosophical quandaries and other scholarly interests, rather than sitting before the bones of the previous generation of tigerfolk, slain by the Vishnu

"Guozhi, Kuan im" You answer, forcing yourself to speak with curt stoicism so as to not reveal your surprise or confusion. Then you spot a flash of red behind the wooden painted mask of one of the younger monks, and anger born of concern breaks your composure.

"QIAN XIAOWEN!" You shout accusingly, as the boy turns away trying to avoid looking in the same direction as your gaze, which now burns with unrestrained fury "By what madness have you been led here! To such a place! A forest that has devoured both storied heroes and warbred armies! Were the comforts of your home so tedious to you, that you sought any means to foolishly endanger and threaten your life!"

The air of awed veneration is wiped away and replaced with an awkward tension as the monks turn to look upon their wayward member, who remains silent and struggles to avoid looking your way. The heir of the Qian doubtlessly knows he cannot bare to meet your gaze, let alone endure the scolding to follow.

Kuan Im remains captivated by her meditative trance, unbothered by your sudden appearance and unsightly outburst.

"Such power" She says have consciously, like a dreamer speaking in their sleep. Guozhi remains seated for a moment, his young blue eyes watching you carefully, picking apart every detail of your being and observing them closely. Much like your own habit of studying the minutest detail of everyone and thing you encountered in your travels.

"Forgive this Junior's insolent interruption" Guozhi speaks, raising to his feet, clutching a staff carved from a burnt branch that is wrapped in the vestments of his extinct order "I assure you, no danger befell any of your disiples upon their pilgrimage to your site of"

Guozhi's eyes meet your own, and you can feel his thoughts and emotions as if they were your own. Though it would be obvious to your eyes, he explains in pure thought that he knows your true purpose upon this mountain was a rendezvous with a strange being that lives beneath it, as well as the fact he shall not pry into the nature of that being or the meeting between the two of you.

"Meditation" He says, glancing back to the occultists, priests and young men and women turned monks "For while this humble Guozhi is not host to the same power than you have cultivated within yourself, nor blessed with your genius talent to wield and control your vast quantities of Qi, I am partially skilled in masking not only my presence but the presence of those nearby, as well"

Your eyes narrow, and Guozhi nervously chuckles.

"You are my mentor, do not refer to yourself as my junior, you have lived years beyond imagine, Grandfather" You answer bitterly, gaze still focused upon the wayward Qian Xiaowen "And while your guidance and protection of this flock reassures me, it does not change the fact that among its numbers, sits the young heir of the Qian. Who has no business wandering so far and into such a dangerous locale"

"He...awoke to his innate talent. His mother agreed to allow me to tutor him in the expansion and control of his burgeoning ability" Guozhi answers quietly "And I cannot call myself the teacher, when my pupil has far surpassed me in both talent and knowledge"

"In the bone devouring forest, upon the mountain top home of the Tiger folk? By knowing me, you should be aware that any veil or shroud can seen through" You say coldly, turning your gaze to Guozhi to spare Xiaowen of the unease and pain inflicted by prolonged exposure to your glaring eyes "And that is simply not true, Guozhi. It is true, I am wise and blessed with Keen intellect, but you are my superior in both regards"

"Power" Kuan Im chants again, cloudy eyes staring past your physical form to gaze upon the spirit that lies within.
cont
>>
>>4797136

"No such existence that could pierce my shroud yet remains in these untamed woods, Elder Lieren, you yourself saw to it that would be so" Guozhi says humbly, cupping his hands together before moving them apart to prostrate before you

"And, you have surpassed me, in not only wisdom and intellect, but strength and skill as well. None among the adherents my old sect has ever reached the heights you now stand upon, radiant in your enlightened state of being. I can only call you grandfather, despite our disparity in age, oh ever humble Lieren" He speaks solemnly as he rises shakily to his feet once more, at the precise moment you began to feel disgusted at how he debased himself "Please accept my sincerest praise for the diligent progress you have made up the path of enlightenment"

"You would not lie to me, nor misjudge your own capabilities, so I can at least be content in the knowledge that your disciples" You say, turning your eyes briefly back to Qian Xiaowen, he has hung his head in shame "However misguided they may be. However, the fact remains you have led them here, the most inhospitable region of the former Yan Kingdom, besides the lands once abused by the Cui. For what reason? Surely, Guozhi, you would not be so foolish as to simply lead your students in my footsteps"

"Oh benevolent Lieren, whose wisdom is unmatched beneath the heavens!" One of the former hidden occultist proclaims, shaking his hands in prayer above his head thrice "We have come seeking your guidance so we may be allowed the privledge of merely looking upon the results of your masterful cultivation"

"Forgive me, but I did not understand the meanings of the words you spoke, sir. Which I must admit is a rarity, take that as a kind of congratulation if you wish to" You say, turning your eyes from the monk to Guozhi once again "Perhaps, you could explain this congregations purpose here, as I asked?"

"Oh course, Grandfather" Guozhi says offendedly, with a mischievous smile as he watches your expression twist to show your distaste at being referred to as such by a man you consider a respect teacher "While you have toiled austerely to better the lives of the people and bring prosperous providence to the land, I gathered from among my students those who could serve as disciples, who held the potential to become cultivators"

You stare into his heart, and in your thoughts ask a single question. Cultivators. Guozhi's mind sighs and his eyes turn half lidded for a moment as his gaze falls to the floor.

"Psykers. though I dislike the term on principle, considering the manner of which our kindred held themselves historically upon this world. From the children of the mountain, to the worst tyrants history remembers" Guozhi admits, whispering into your mind.

Nodding, you reply in a way that the gathered disciples can perceive.

"For what purpose have you gathered these students?" You ask bluntly
cont
>>
>>4797138

"To seek your tutelage and guidance, as my junior brother Qiu explained" Guozhi says briskly, smiling beneath his jade mask "If you would become the leader of this infantile sect, we would follow your commands with great vigor"

You resist the urge to pinch the bridge of your nose, or show your irritation by brushing your iron hued hair back, Instead you simply smile, and understanding that these people see you as sage of celestial mysteries, speak more formally to keep them from becoming to gravely confused.

"Forgive me for my curtness, but there are other matters I must see to first before we can discuss this offer at length. My responsibilities are, after all are not only numerous but great. I shall, however, allow you to follow the road I take away from this hellish place" You say, before realizing that like Kanzeon, Guozhi can gaze into your thoughts and read them like a book.

And how close you are with the old monk, the sense of ease and comfort his presence inspires has washed away the fortifications of your mind's gate.

"So you seek a territory that is thick with malevolent Qi to test your capabilities as an exorcist?" Guozhi asks, removing his mask to reveal his good natured grin beneath, curling a few of his fingers through his long white beard as the older acolytes gasp, and finally bring Kuan Im from her stupor "This humble student knows of several locals that are so accursed"

"That would certainly expedite my pursuit in finding a suitable location to test my skill" You say, smiling subconsciously as Kuan im sighs.

"For what purpose? surely you know you have the knowledge to cast wicked spirits from the world of the living, already" She ponders outloud

"Practice" You answer simply "Self improvement is an endless road, I cannot allow myself to rest upon my current level of skill, otherwise I will one day be overcome by a foe I would otherwise best in battle, no matter the form it may take"

The unseen master and his taint was gone when we came back, and was still gone after we left, so the bird probably left after we killed the fox so he could scream at Kairos for fucking up the prophecy.
And I doubt that some runes would be enough to stop warpstone radiation.

>warpstone radiation
I'm tempted to see if the will and psychically-charged creation of a Primarch is enough to negate the ill effects of this shit. All sorts of fuckers in WHF use it in the construction of their arms and armor, I'm curious to see if we could do the same. Maybe we could use a chunk of it as a psychic focus too?

40k and Fantasy, as similar as they are, don't run on the same metaphysics. In Fantasy, magic (Warp energy) is constantly being drained away from the world by the Great Vortex. It ISN'T in the 40k galaxy, there's just enough space around to stay a safe distance away from the effects most of the time.

Warp materials in 40k are absolutely corruptive, much as they are in Fantasy. Psychically conductive materials exist beside them that DO NOT corrupt anyone and everyone that goes near them/looks at them too closely.

SO yeah, using 40k!Warpstone for a psychic focus is a horrible idea. Just use something better, like the bone(s) of psychic fauna, or Wraithbone if we ever come across Eldar.

>>4797780
Warpstone doesn't exist in canon 40k, presumably the shit in the cave is 1-for-1 WFB warpstone, which means it's merely solidified warp energy. Granted, after spending a thousand years around a corrupted psyker and a daemon, it's probably TZEENTCHED, but we just learned our wards, purifying rituals aren't particularly far out of our wheelhouse. Then it's just a matter of bending that solidified Warp energy to our prodigious willpower and conviction. Which will be cake.
>Warp materials in 40k are absolutely corruptive
This isn't true.
>bone(s) of psychic fauna
I like this, provided we can find some that aren't corrupted mainly for the fact I believe we're not really making good on our name. At times I've thought we'd be better off changing it to whatever Philanthropist is in Chinese. Decking ourself out in bones would definitely make us look more like a hunter.

Absolutely.
That, Kanzeon's proposed lab-grown body, and the conglomerate of souls will be our first gifts to the Imperium at large.

Wraithbone is just one type of warp material Eldar use.

These seem like Shangralan lore options that I'd like to find out more about, but not pressing as for this demonstration of power. Especially the famine of our birth - I understood that Nothing and the surrounding regions only fed the city of the Gao.

>The site of the bloodiest battle in recent memory, the site of the treachery of the turtles.
I nominate this, as Lieren is the cause and the focus or the massacred Kang forces here. It's for us to cleanup. I would like to follow up with the other regions later.

what could go wrong?
>>
>>4797977
Of course we are, having a way to better shield psykers from the warp is going to to improve the Imperium by miles. Nit to mention that if they reincarnate too, they can teach people forever.
>>4798136
Based.
>>
>>4798178
Wraithbone isn't a Warp material as I define it, which is material from the Warp itself like Warpstone (in Fantasy all deposits of Warpstone were fragments of Morrslieb and asteroids of the stuff that originated in the Warp before raining down on the plant and becoming imbedded in the crust, barring a few exceptions like a mutation that instantly converts your brain into a chunk of one and turns you into a thoughtless automaton for anyone with magical power). Wraithbone is a material that is very psychically conductive and can be grown and shaped by a psyker, but it is not a Warp material.

>Of course we are, having a way to better shield psykers from the warp is going to to improve the Imperium by miles.
Some flaw to this logic. If this were true, would the emperor had given this knowledge to all psykers? That must mean that to some degree all psykers have charms, or for some reason the Emperor forgot to hand the charms out to all the psykers.
>>
>>4798308
I wasn't meaning the charms, but training after we restore the order.
After all, they must had a way to protect or hide their souls if they could reincarnate right? That was something that the legions of souls that make the emperor failed to do, hence the whole ritual suicide to be reborn into a sibgle inmortal thing.
There probably is something in that monastery that was shielding them before they were destroyed.
>>
>>4797142
>An abandoned city that was the victim of great tragedy and the famine of your birth.
Do we really want to banish those souls who were betrayed?
>>
>>4798273
It literally is warp material. “Made by a psyker” does not reduce the fact that the psyker explicitly pulled it from the warp.
>>
>>4798308
I mean, psychic hoods and psy-foci, be they charms or staves or outright Force Weapons, are more or less standard issue among Sanctioned Psykers in the Imperium.

And then there's hexagrammic wards like what the Inquisition and Grey Knights have, but those are time-consuming and finicky to make, so it makes sense that it would be a struggle to outfit every Psyker in the Imperium with them, especially when most of them won't run into circumstances that necessitate such measures.

Guohzi you old fool, you're supposed to be based and enlightened-pilled, you aren't acting based at all when you scrape and bow to us like some little weasel!

I mean come on man, you're one of our oldest friends and teachers, you should know that lieren loves it when normies acknowledge themselves to be equals and even occasionally superior to ourselves.

I dunno, maybe he's just doing it as some kind of joke or for some grander purpose, but this really rubs me wrongly

Remenber that when he met Lieren, our primarch wasn't even half grown nor had awakened his powers. Then we got the paradox soul, the human waaagh field, the knowledge and conscious dominion over our abilities and soul, a fuckton of knowledge about ourselves and the world in general (which makes your soul richer), lot's of lifting, etc. I think Lieren is much more impressive now than when he was a literal giant kid.

Also, the prior regime oppressed religion and spirituality, demonizing both and the concept of "Sorcery". For the younger disciples, and those who were occultists/ theologists, Guozhi is putting up a front so they'll feel at ease.

Hence why he's acting like a character from a cultivation story, as it is easier to explain to Yan citizens psyker from that angle, and keep them at ease with their abilities since the Journey has become wildly popular and its a small step from "Living virtuously" to "Seeking enlightenment"

So they, who most came from his mundane students, expect a certain atmosphere and manner. Since Lieren would probably be a better guide than himself, he presents him as a initiate above the master they knew and thus a comforting, reliable presence to those who have only heard of him from stories that end in him hanging people like so many ripe peaches.

Though, Kuan im and Qian Xiaowen do not need that particular reassurance, considering they knew Lieren prior to being led to meet him here.

Notice how he dropped the act when communicating telepathically with Lieren.

And cause the old man thinks its funny. After all, soon he will be Lieren's Junior in age, according to his beliefs.
>>
>>4798687
And he is. consider how Guozhi has referred to him as the "Origin of a great sea". Besides being a big lad, those who can sense it see Lieren's "Paradox soul"

So, imagine a constantly raging inferno in the midst of the web of souls that further empowers it, and are empowered by it in turn. It be pretty awe inspiring, I'd think.

Guozhi stands by your side, energetic and bold despite his advance age. He has taken off the ceremonial mask of mutton fat jade and walks besides you, his robes moving in rhythm with the dancing patches of high grass rippling beneath the gentle caress of morning's light wind. The fog is early thin upon the plains of the Kang, the air still reeks of blood shed seasons before. The stench of gunpowder lingers upon the soil. Your mentor and friend shivers, clinging tightly to the staff he carries, his young blue eyes darting to and fro as if in search of predators hidden in the shadows cast by the man high blades of grass, or lurking under the leafless trees that stand like silent sentinels among the vastness of the wilds.

Smoke rises behind the two of you, from the fortified waystation upon the further reaches of the Giant's road, where Guozhi's disciples now rest awaiting your return from the bloodstained site that has become immortalized in history. The place of Dai Niu's great shame, and the treachery that shall haunt him until his dying days. The site of the battle that crippled the heir of the Kang, committed solely by your command. The location of the "treachery of the turtles", given a wide berth by the builders and patrols who are stationed upon this distant limb of the White Dragon's path, as the giant's road is at referred to as.

Your teacher and dear confidant, is the only man courageous enough to accompany you to the remnants of the battle fought in spring. Spears jut from the soil, rusted by the fogs constant embrace and the showers of rain that have washed away the stench of death, at least physically. Lacquered armor painted silver, lies abandoned upon the ground with great fist sized holes punched through the majority of the pieces.

"The air of this place is heavy with the weight of death and grudges of the dying" Guozhi muses, as the wind causes his bone white beard to flutter beneath his jaw like the tail of a cat "Emotions, dark and grim, have coalesced like water within a depression upon a road. But this is no mere puddle, Lieren, this is a sea of malice and pain. The fog here is thinned by sorrow, Shangrala suffers in grief. The barrier between worlds has waned and grown fail. This place is...drowning in malicious energies"

"I can feel it as well, I can witness it with my own eyes. The boundary between material and spiritual has been damaged, broken down. The realm of the dead settles closely to the world of the living here, by my hand alone" You mutter sadly, feeling the lingering fragments of the emotions the men slain here held in their hearts at the moment of their death, tethered by the pain of death and the pain of the betrayal that led to this massacre

Lowering your head, you gaze upon a skull picked clean by vermin and carrion birds, Night cranes and Hook ravens most likely. Judging from how the soil is raised around the remains, looters passed through here seeking treasures taken from the arms of the dead
Con

And judging by the fresh scent of decay and drying blood, joined their victims in death. Though no predators stalk these quiet plains, coated in in ash and spilt gunpowder, and no guardians tend to the dead like the priests of old. Something else has slain these criminals, and taken the flesh and bones of the body. The only sign of their passing the prints of their feet, or the tatters of cloth torn from their bodies alongside their meat. Teeth, ripped from jaws, the grease of entrails resting upon wet soil. Your hunter's eyes alone notice this evidence of violent slaughter.

"If I had been patient, perhaps the tragedy upon the Lion's border could have been averted and the men whose remains lay beneath its grasses would still walk amongst the living yet" You sigh, tracing a furrow in the ground with your toes, calculating the weight of the man's still corpse that created the indentation when it was dragged away by the mysterious killer.

There lays a presence in the air, that is reminiscent of the palpable wickedness that surrounded the unseen master and Huli Jing, and every magical beast you have battled against. However, it is thin, weaker than the aura, the stench that surrounded those creatures. Like a leak in a pitcher compared to an storm filled river.

A crack in reality, a wound on the world, inflicted by the spear of grief and grudges.

"Men who know the future, often walk a path that dooms them to whatever fate they witnessed" Guozhi Lectures, sticking close to your side as he follows you amongst the disturbed and ransacked graves "A handful of my brothers with the Wardens of Secrets, foresaw their own deaths, but did nothing to avert them for it was "Destiny""

"The salve of fools" You say dourly, frowning as you spot the hilt of a broken dagger embedded in a tree with crimson hued bark "But such a truth does not lessen my involvement and part played to orchestrate the bloodshed that has sullied these plains"

Guozhi nods sagely, his blue eyes narrowed with sorrow as he pauses the grab a handful of dirt from the ground, running it between his fingers, testing its composition and grit with their tips as he studies it intently.

"Ash of bones" He whispers, as he grinds the filth between fingers thoughtfully "Some beast in men's skin or heretical scholar has cooked a feast from the remains of the slaughtered"

You clench your jaw, grinding your teeth in disgust at the mere thought of such a gruesome act, one you have witnessed before, in the depths of the Celestial Incarnation Palace. Cannibalisms, of which your dear friend Luli was a victim of.

"Such hungers befoul the very air with their vileness" You hiss through your teeth, before glancing back to Guozhi "Though I had not noticed the traces of such foulness, to think the keenness of your eyes could rival my own"

Guozhi meets your grin with a humble smile.

"I simply know the signs of such wicked rites by experience, the sect of my departed brothers trained us to be alert for such clear evidence of corruption" He says bitterly, allowing the dirt to fall from his hands now "Though, I doubt there is a coven of heretical sorcerers making their home here, more likely a mad man briefly made his den in the burrows and crooks of this abandoned battlefield"

"Hopefully the disgusting wretch has met his end, devoured by the Lions of the plains or slain by a living quarry" You spit, catching it in your hand, so the graves here will not be further desecrated. Wiping the saliva upon a rough cloth, you turn your gaze towards the horizon, and see pillars of black smoke crawling from the graves that still lay ahead. The energy of a malice that could survive death itself.

"Let us hope the abomination has passed on from here, for the land is saturated with the Qi of violence and blood. You were right to come here, this place must be purified lest it spoils the minds of all who come to dwell within it" Guozhi says, unsteadily rising to his feet, with your aid.

If only you were trained to know how to purify such taint. Fire, in your experience, worked well to cleanse corruption from flesh and bone, to keep it from spreading after the death of its host. But burning the entire plain bare would not serve to test the effectiveness of the Null Denouncement charms.

How shall you test the charms against the energies of the Empyrean, Lieren?

A Primarch-sized pistol that fires beanbag rounds will absolutely kill a person, the regular ones have a decent chance of doing it. Hell, a Primarch-sized paintball gun would more likely than not be capable of killing someone.

Besides, why bother making +P beanbag rounds for those occasions we don't want to kill what we're shooting at? Just grab a damn Webber pistol instead, much more reliably non-lethal but can still be counted on to stop them in their tracks.

We already have plenty of non-lethal options, plus we can just make beanbag rounds for use in regular firearms.
Also, a +P beanbag round out of a Primarch sized pistol would be the equivalent of firing a doorknob wrapped in a sock out of cannon. It would definitely kill an average man.
I will say though, the addition of a mid-range sidearm, similar in size to a heavy bolt pistol, is something I can see Lieren doing.
Seems like it would pair well with a Power-Dao, or even just another Primarch pistol.
We could reinvent Gun-Fu and shit.

So Lieren shall hunt down the "Wretch", and use its tainted flesh to test the Null Denouncement charms effects upon living and corrupted tissue.

And then, with Guozhi's aid, forcefully gather the Malevolent Qi and condense it, allowing it to be more easily cleansed/ purged, as well luring in any entities that had come to feed upon the potent emotions of so many deaths caused by betrayal, so he may beat the shit out of them.

I’d imagine it would take a lot of self-restrain for Lieren to not hunt down every DE in existence the second. Probably the only Primarch that could understand Lieren’s raw disdain for them is probably Vulkan and maybe Angron.

If Lieren landed on Nostramo the conquest would be short:
>You gaze upon the world.

>>
>>4802049
>to replace the blade with one of the power swords I was given that response.
You might as well retire the guandao at that point.
>>
>>4802082
A sword fit for a human would be big enough to be the blade of a guadao for a giant.
There, the chendao is now a power weapon
>>
>>4802072
But will that be enough?
>>
>>4802082
Well, we'll have to replace the Chendao at some point anyway, if only because a gunpowder-based compact repeating cannon can only get so far. If we want to keep using a weapon like it, we'd have to recreate it with more advanced tech down the line, so making that upgraded version a power weapon would make more sense.

Especially since I'm pretty sure you can't convert a regular steel blade into a power weapon, you have to build one from the ground up to be one.
>>
>>4802098
Jury-rigging an already functional device is a wasteful practice that I oppose. Also if we aren’t going to craft a power blade for it then what was the point of crafting the guandao? Is the Primarch designed to be a technican who crafted his own weapon to the best of his ability in the name of his dead friend and cares a lot about self-improvement really going to just going to take a lazy short cut like that?
>>
>>4802141
It was before we had learned of power weapons from Kanzeon, I didn't think we would be able to get one until the crusade rolled here.
But now we just news to visit the workshop again in the future, so it's better to keep the swords as very close range options.
Also juryriging is not lazy if you mean to make it work properly, just the worse option if you can make something from scratch.
But back to the original matter, how is doing it making the guandao an anine weapo or ruin it anon?
>>
>>4802049
>But what do you think it would become in the low power setting?
Tasers don't shoot bolts of lightning, they shoot two prongs wired to the pain weapon that conduct electricity. Both have to connect to flesh for the taser to work properly, which is why they are so ineffective. Directed lightning won't have that flaw.

"Hoping achieves nothing, if one wishes to better the world they must labor to change it with their own hands. Callouses are the markings of a life spent toiling for a finer tomorrow" You proclaim, lashing your arm outwards as you face remnants of the wretch's grisly feasts, desecrated graves laid bare before the sun's light and bones cracked open and sucked dry of putrid marrows and liquids too foul to be named. Guozhi smirks and chuckles like a proud grandfather watching the next generation frolic and play in fields he himself cleared.

"Your hunter's outlook has made itself clear once again, my junior. I suppose, despite having all the trappings of a gentle mannered sage, your blood yet boils for the thrill of the chase and execution, no?" Guozhi sighs, hobbling forward and resting near your side.

Kneeling down before his staff, he traces a string of characters, poetry, upon the soot covered half of his walking aid. His method of focusing his psyker abilities, honing them upon lines of thought set and prewritten in his mind. One ignorant of the true nature of his talents, would see such ritual as the makings of a spell or incantation to plead for the intervention of celestial forces. But it is nothing more than a practiced method to improve his confident in powers born from his own being, much like how many actors will sings briefly before stepping on the stage to ready their vocal cords, or how acrobats stretch before their more strenuous performances.

"Be unseen, as a walker upon wind. Be unheard, as the final breath of a hermit. Be unperceived, as the world beyond" He whispers to himself. To your piercing gaze, the air around him flickers briefly, becoming clouded before it returns to its usual clarity. The fog whips around Guozhi's legs as his eyes flash blue. To a man without the potential of psykerism, he would be as unseen as the breeze that twirls and dances across his aged form.

"I cannot allow myself to be called a friend of the people, if I do not remove the predators that threaten their lives" You answer in kind, sniffing the air to attempt to discern if any of the hanging aromas of blood and vile are fresher than the rest that tarnishes this field of grave "I must be certain that wretched beast lays dead, and whether I must make it so, it shall provide a worth subject to test the Null Denouncement Charms' effects upon living flesh spoilt by the touched of Empyrean"

Guozhi rises to his feet unsteadily.

"The touch of Malevolent Qi, specifically those aligned to death, decay and bloodshed" Guozhi says with a tut of his tongue and wag of his finger "I shall leave you to your hunt, Lieren. The dead need to be tended to and given the respect stolen from their graves. Though, I somehow doubt I would prove to be an able combatant if I were to join you in the fray"

You laugh alongside your mentor and dear friend, as he shuffles to the nearest grave, to begin his prayers.

"I would not endanger a friend so carelessly, speak a second prayer in my stead, old friend. I shall return shortly, to begin our true work here. I shall require your knowledge and assistance for the task ahead, so I would ask you not to wander far from here" You say, smiling as you place a hand upon the monk's thin shoulder.

He nods silently, gripping his prayer beads tightly in his hands, winding them around every finger at the base of his wrists as he does so.

"Your expertise shall be invaluable in removing the corruptive forces haunting this place" You add, as you turn away from Guozhi and the grave he now tends to "I shall not be long, scavengers always prove to be easy prey"

"Be mindful of your life, and its frailties, Lieren. May your endeavor being met with success and fortune, I shall pray for your safety as you perform the grisly work of slaying the grave defiling abomination" Guozhi whispers, his voice carrying upon the wind as you leave him in the graveyard, and begin your hunt.
-

A wretch lay in the muddy waters of the den it had dug beneath a barrow hill left by the passing of war. Dimly, the beast was aware it had once been a man, it knew it had been. But all else had become muddled, like a dream forgotten upon waking. When his belly was full of meat, gristle and fat, the fragments of his life became clearer. Flashes of a young girl, of a doughy mate, of a prosperous field of grains and flowers. But, as soon as he could grasp these recollections of what he had once been, they faded away and were swiftly replaced by the ever gnawing hunger that had taken roost within his gullet and so fevered his mind.

Grasping weakly for a nearby bone with a few strips of meat left upon it, the creatures ruddy hands tipped with black talons festering with filth and disease, lifted from the pool it languished within. Ripples danced from its extended, crooked claws, as it lazily lifted it self from the murk.

Drool and pungent mucus dripped over its trowel like fangs as it rose to its feat, feverish hunger draining what little consciousness yet remained within its bestial mind. Its jaw slacked, its greased grey black hair falling across its tattered, bloated lips as it brought its meager meal to them.

Pangs of pain shot through the wretches spine, consciousness returned as a thin sliver of meat slipped down its yawning throat that had been stretched far wider than any human's neck should be able to accommodate. Flickers of a past life danced pleasantly in the the beast's thoughts, as agony burrowed into its skull as the two black horns upon its brow grew ever so slightly longer.

In the gloom, the wretch's yellowed eyes spotted his own reflection, and briefly realized how far he had fallen. So greatly degenerated that he appeared more ogre than man. His bloated stomached churned and shivered, as he roared and slammed a gangly arm upon the image presented upon the water's surface.

>>
>>4802309

Retreating back into the soothing depths of the monstrosity of his being, the ogre gnawed greedily upon the leg bone of a wandering bandit he had waylaid the night prior, dragging his overgrown teeth and lashing tongue over its surface to pick and pull even the meagerest morsel from its surface.

And then it came. An oppressive presence, a threat carried upon the air itself. The ogre turned his eyes from his meals, and saw in the darkness of its lair.

Two eyes burning brightly gold. And a flash of torturous recognition shot through his feeble mind. The ogre! the true ogre! the Ogre who led him to adapt such a wretched assistance. Not prey, not competition, but a predator.

The grave stealing ogre growled, phlegm and bile gurgling in its throat as it slunk further into the cool pool of water in which it slept. The giant stepped closer, eyes narrowing in disgust and a spite purer than anything a mortal man could stand to play host to.

"So, you have clung to life after all, debasing yourself in such pointless painful survival rather than welcoming the death that rightfully awaited you" The giant sighed, voice rumbling with a great force of anger intermingled with deep pity "The instinct to survive, rather than give into the peaceful rest to come, is often times more dreadful than the torturous end of starvation that you desperately fled from. BEAST!"

The lesser ogre howled and cried, mind to fractured to speak the tongue he once spoke or even in the voice he held in his prior life.

The greater ogre, with movement so fluid and rapid that it seemed to be nothing but a blur of light to the corpse eater, planted the might weapon he held into the muddy soil of its lair and adopted the feline stance of a veteran mouser, while his quarry shrank back against the wall of earthen home like a fleeing rat.

A small amulet of jade fell from his hand clenched into the crude shape of a spear. Beads of lacquered wood shook as the necklace fell to hang upon the stagnant air. Small slivers of light ignited along its length, glowing with the golden glow of an unobstructed sun.

"Come, or die pitifully" The ogre mocked, beckoning his lesser kin to battle with a flick of his wrist, tightening the claw formed from the finger's of his free hand. The instinct to survive flared in the creatures wretched breast, and it flung itself forward, ruddy skin shimmering beneath the light surrounding the larger beast.

Layers of fat and grease burned away. Reality flickered. The cavern became a forest heavy with fog. The greater ogre was now draped in the fresh hide of a great panther, wearing it over his bared chest like a noble lord's cloak. The wind whipped the fog, and the ogre vanished into it like he had been born and weaved of it himself.

The cavern returned, accompanied by a great pain. The wretch saw its hunter standing above it, foot pressed against its broken leg.
Cont
>>
>>4802311

The femur jutted out from his paper thin skin, blood gushing and flowing down his thighs, forming pools between the bones pressing through his skin.

A moment later, the wretch was in the air, kicked from the ground. Its slavering jaw broken and ground to dust from a single strike. It hung limply. Its back had broken against the cavern wall, he could no longer move or even struggle to defend himself. The ogre was at his side, only foretold by the wind rushing before his rapid stride.

Silently, the greater ogre lifted the lesser from the ground by its throat. His gaze was torture, his expression death. He raised his hand, and set the jade necklace over the still beasts neck.

The wretch felt as if he had been lit aflame, the fever burned from his minds as a blaze tore through his body, attacking even the smallest element of its being as the corruption that had settled within his flesh and fat was forcefully torn away and enflamed.

Kang Fan awoke, in the body that had once been his, in the brief period that the taint that had turned him to such a degenerated existence was wiped away. The hunger was crawling back, but he remembered. He had been a loyal man of the silver Lions. The retainer of the Heir. His cousin Yongrui. He had the misfortune to survive the betrayal that claimed his young master's noble life, having crawled away in the chaos that should have taken him, a spear lodged in his stomach and then...and then. Oh courts above what has he become! What has he become! to survive! Such a depraved, abominable existence! How could he have allowed himself to be so lowered! How could he have committed such foul crimes!?

The ogre was creeping upon his mind, ghoulish hunger replacing disgust and shamed with every breath his broken body took.

"KCh..kch...keeel...kill me giant!" He spat into his treacherous enemies face "Kill me and be done with it, release me from this torment so I may plead for forgiveness in hell!"
-

You lowered your gaze, as the light of intelligence and humanity began to fade from the wretch's eyes as you pulled the charm from his neck.

"As you wish, may your crimes be forgiven in your next life or within whatever fate awaits you beyond. I shall keep the beast you became a secret, a warrior of Kang" You say pityingly, as you grasp the ghoul's head and with a sharp twist of your wrist, tear his head from his shoulders.

As the life fades from its tallow eyes, its lip move to speak a single phrase.

"Thank you"

Sighing, you drop the head to the body, and leave the corpse thief's lair. With a lighter you made while in the company of Kanzeon, you turn its den into a funeral pyre.

"May you find peace in death" You say, quickly praying for the creature. His crimes were terrible, but the being you faced in that burrow could not be considered the same as the man it once was. It was a victim of this corpsefield as much as its own prey were.
cont
>>
>>4802315

It cannot be forgiven for its wickedness, but the man he once was could be mourned.

Shaking your head, you look upon the Null Denouncement charm, as the jade it is carved upon becomes translucent upon the light of the setting sun. There was work still to be done upon these plains. Corruption to cleanse, taint to wash away.

Silently, you walked back to the graves tended by Guozhi.

"Your bloody work is done then, I assume?" The old man asked solemnly "Did your charms function as well as you had theorized they would"

"I understand them better now, but we must now test the true extent of their power. In not only cleansing filth but their ability to ward it away as well" You reply, whipping the charm idly in the air, drawing circles as you wait for Guozhi to finish the prayer for the last ransacked grave "But to set the stage for such a trail, I will need your assistance"

"You intend to do something foolhardy, I can tell by the tone of your voice" Guozhi groans

"Indeed I do, I intend to gather the Qi of death and malice that has gathered here. To condense it into a single area so I may wipe it away in one move, and chase off any beings that had come to feast upon the energy itself' You say, catching the Jade Null Denouncement Charm after swinging it upwards "You understand how to accomplish such a feat, I know how to a barrier of charms to entrap the Qi and the beasts it calls to"

"What a dangerous idea! How bold and how foolish! I cannot help but to aid in such a wild endeavor!" Guozhi laughs energetically before clasping his hands together and bowing "I shall give all of my trust to you, as I have always, Lieren"

You cup your hands together and bow to return the old man's gesture.

"I shall leave the shepherding of Qi to you, while I prepare the sigils of protection and create a stage in which I may combat the malevolence that has made this battlefield its home" You proclaim, before seeing Guozhi mimic your habitual lashing of your arm that you often perform when giving speeches or other commands.

You cackle in amusement and shake your head.

"Now is not the time for humor, Guozhi" You scold as he silently laughs, nodding in agreement.

"A little levity has never hurt a soul, Lieren" He answers "But let us begin our dangerous work, together"
-

The smoke of burning incense clouds the air, muddling the stench of blood, gunpowder and ash. The Moon has risen, its pale light struggling to pierce the shroud of fog. It has grown heavier as Guozhi and yourself toiled to prepare the cleansing of the field of turtle's treachery.

A clearing has been prepared and readied, Stones have been set in a hexagon around it so as to more efficently draw the power of your and Guozhi's wills into the charms and potent rune script carved onto their surfaces. The sigils glow with a fiery golden light, pillars of the substance of souls rising high enough into the night's sky to pierce the heavens themselves.
Cont
>>
>>4802318

Shimmering veils of golden brilliance dance between the pillars, projecting scenes of taken from both of your memories and written by the dreams of each of you hide within your hearts.

Meditating in the center of the spiritual arena, you sit, fully dressed in your armor. The Chendao, Twin Daos and Six fanged spear lay in front of you, chiming harmoniously with Guozhi's chanting. The old sage sits beyond the will fueled walls the both of you have erected. Sweat pours from his brow as he presses both of his thumbs against it, to more efficiently funnel and channel the power shared between both of your wills and souls.

"It is time" You state, turning your eyes to the great orb of twilight floating above you. Screaming skulls tinged violent and verdant struggle to escape the confines of the gathered energy. Vortexes of lighting crackle across its surface, hounded by tongues of flame and smoke.

Leaping to your feet, your break your meditation, opening your thoughts to the ambient emotion of the world as your own conviction flows into the wards surrounding you, turning the spectral shield into a tangible wall of soulfire.

With a wild, thunderous cry, you drive the Jade Null Denouncement charm into the depths of the condensed empyreal energies alongside your fist, and force you will upon it, using a portion of one of the psykerist techniques you have trained yourself in.

The orb cracks, and briefly, so does reality. A new world stands before your eyes, as a great burning needles and claws into your temple. Winds of Qi storm around you, but the barrier holds. Clenching your jaw, you answers the screeching call of the world of spirits with your own bellowed challenge. The Null Denouncement Charm power shields you from the forces that rush against you.

Chaos surrounds you, a storm of unrestrained emotion and subconscious. Maddening images dance around you, tongues of green and black flames flicker around your feet as bolts of lilac energy lance out and burn the air, leaving behind a bitter taste upon it. Your armor is scourged by the winds of the other world , but soon, the sea of anarchy is calmed.

And there is a moment while the every shifting view settles upon a single image that you are able to comprehend. And within it, your enemy emerges to combat you as the gathered dark energy is chased and banished away by the Null Denouncement Charms.

Speaking of Fulgrim, I remember reading an argument that he was actually a closet xenophile the entire time. He would say the lines, express disdain for aliens, his whole stated reason for exterminating the Laer when most of his war council were of the opinion that they were no threat for the moment was that they were trying to reach for perfection when that is solely mankind's right.

And yet, he took a sword from them that he treasured, he was the only one to agree to speak with the Eldar when they tried to warn him about Chaos (though he did try to kill them when they implied his brothers would fall to it) and his Legion were the ones to start jamming alien organs and genetic material into their bodies in their bids at making themselves perfect.

Of that i am sure, the horse seems 100% their animal. They are horse breeders, have cavalry warfare tradition and more. But i didn t see their colors.
>>4803670
I didn t vote for that

>>4802547
this is my vote here.

Still i don t think it s the deity it self. But one of his demons, remember that we are doing this in the battlefield. I don t believe the place is strong enough for be a full connection, so we might in a border part of sort, partially "colonized" by a demon of nurgle. And made in the image of the main garden it self.
>>
>>4803683
Character doesn’t factor into it. Mortarion was one of the toughest primarches and at his peak he had centuries of experience and was an adult. Lieren on the other hand is still a child primarch. Our only advantage is our willingness to use mystical bullshit.
>>
and well the vote has win, so we are going in there is not much to say about that.

Not that in mind, we are going to have a cool fight ahead of us. And it can be experience for when we must face the actual servant of nurgle send on Shangrila.

Some vote for me.
>>4803670

Did you guys really vote to poke the Green One himself? I very much doubt Lieren is going to get out of this without catching a disease...

I tried my hand at it.
Couldn't think of a background, someone has any ideas?

>>4803702
We have a couple more advantages here than old Morty did. For one, we aren't going to be in the Warp itself, just in a section of reality it is bleeding into. Small difference for most, but a crucial one.

Secondly, it wasn't Mortarion's own toughness that failed and made him submit to Nurgle, it was the Death Guard's. He made the bargain to save his sons, while Lieren is the only one in harm's way here.

Thirdly, Morty didn't have custom-made anti-Warp protections beyond the Gellar Fields on his ships. The Null Denouncement Charms should let us mostly make up for the disparity in endurance, not even mentioning the more intrinsic anti-Chaos bullshit we've got.
>>
>>4803670
>>4803692
Oh yeah, Lieren isn't in the garden. He basically punched a window into the warp from which a daemon is crawling through into realspace, while the energy of the tear is contained by the Null Denouncement charms, creating a sort of boundary reality in the arena as the energies are banished back into the Emperyan.

A limbo between the warp and realspace.

However, you did basically break papa nurgle's window, and for someone with eyes like Lieren, it isn't going to be pleasant to gaze upon the garden even from a distance spanning realities. Like how looking at the emperor's true form knocked him out for a week and made his eyes bleed.

Think of it like having a bright flashlight shined in your eyes behind a window, but the flashlight is strong enough to make your eyes bleed, since its you know, the stuff of the warp.

So, Lieren isn't in the garden, however he looked through and got a face full of that pain he feels when he looks at warpshit of suitable strength, like warpstone, daemons or the emperor.

I figured I'd explain, since the update might make it seem like Lieren pulled a firehawk and leroy jenkin'd into the plague father's realm itself

Which, would be an incredibly dickish move to make, since it'd be screwing you guys over for a write in. Which is the height of faggotry. If Lieren falls, it will be your conscious decision rather than "hurr hurr you saw a poxed ass cheek, join Mortarion in his sad tower 4evah"

Because that isn't fun for you, me, or anyone!

Always, I'm finish up the update leading into Lieren fighting a daemon in the ring of magical bullshit.

Remember, I run this quest so you guys can enjoy it, not to make you suffer.

>>4803722
A sort of colony ? Seems nurgle was planning to send support to his servant here in Shangrila then. Probably because he feared to lose to Khorne or the Bird.

Ah Malal i must ask you a big favour if is possible do you have with you/ or remember the colors of the house of Lai ?
And can you confirm me if the house of Qian is color red and if they have as symbol the spider, or it s just the nickname of our friend and ally ?
I am kind of uncertain over the Yin and Zhou too. Though i remember the Unbroken Thunder Howl wearing some black robes at our first feast, still in the start.

I am kind of ashamed to ask you, because honestly i have find everyone else for the banners on my own without problems. But i can t find much on those.

Never stated Lai's colors, but they're a pale blue like the sky clear of fog.

Qian's colors are scarlet and plum, however the spider is not the symbol of the house It's a blossom, specifically a plum blossom.

Yin Lei's personal color is black however the Southern Yin's colors are grey and white, and their image are clouds.

The Zhou's symbol was a polecat upon copper and jade.

A gargantuan manse made of all things foul and putrid stands before you in defiance to all sense of logic and reason. In the depths of your subconscious, you understand the horrid landscape is purely constructed of emotion and thought, but it seems as real as the graves that are scattered across the plains. Scarlet rivers flow from the golden pools of your eyes, burning upon your cheeks as the sheer intensity of the other world's vileness assaults your every sense. Something terrible and ancient inhabits this manor, something that embodies putridity more deeply than the realm of decay and rot it inhabits.

The foundations are hewn from a sickly rock with the appearance of tumorous bones and diseased marrow, mortared with bile and effluvial grime squeeze from the bowels of bloated cadavers. Pus drips like water upon the stones that hold up this manse of filth and disease, it crawls like sweat upon a farmer's brow, and spawns revolting forms of verminous life that titters and cackles at the pain the sights above inflict upon you in both body and mind.

The walls of this manor of unearthly putrescence is cobbled from timbers in varying states of decay, held in place by rusted nails that look more like the twisted and grasping branches of dead and withered trees. The wood walls groan and moan like the dying gasps of a man consumed by fever and illness. Winds spoilt brown and rotten black shriek around the mansion and the garden that surrounds it, carrying clouds choking fumes and corpses gases heavy enough to choke the life out of a health ox, if the legions of bloated flies and obese mosquitoes that danced upon the very same winds did not devour them to the marrow of their bones first.

Every fiber of your being wishes to turn away and flee from the ghastly sights, though they only linger for a splinter of a moment, it is a torturous experience that from your perception is prolonged for dreadfully ponderous span of seven stagnantly sluggish minutes. Corroded pipes of iron vomit forth hordes of locusts, fattened maggots, corpse eating beetles and terrible chimeric vermin sewn together from the tongues and fingers of men! Burning bile builds in your through, tingling upon the base of your tongue as the stinging miasma of the manse's grounds washes through the tear in reality, withering the grass and drying to soil beneath. Upon the death winds, grease and filth encrusted windows rattle as if laughing in grim amusement as shards of glass splinter and flutter away to join the procession of vermin swarming around the grounds of manor's gardens.

The lacquer painted upon the decayed walls of the mansion, cracks and peels like the entirety of the building labors to breath and cling onto some repulsive mockery of life. Trees carved from still living bones weep sap of puss filled blood, pink and pale, as rotten fruits swell and molder upon their branches like peaches ripe for plucking.
cont
>>
>>4803838

Several of the trees' trunks are split down the middle, revealing crooked yellowed fangs and slavering tongues that lap and slurp at the streams of sewage that flow beneath their entrail roots. Bells and gongs chime, signaling flocks of three eyed cranes to sing a mournful dirge.

But, beneath the façade of primeval squalor, at the boundary of garden of loathsome repugnance, sits a beacon of hope. An alien beauty, immaculate and untarnished by the malevolent miasma and degrading decays that surrounds her prison. Like a lotus flower, blossoming above the mud it was planted. Spitting blood and bile to the ground, you lift your head to the maiden flower entrapped in the hellish manse.

And bear witness to the terribly wretched and old entity that both imprisons her and tends to the gardens that the mere sight of has sickened and appalled you. Your twin hearts cease beating, for to gaze upon the patriarch of all things foul and putrid, He who cultivates decay and rust, the shepherd of viruses, He who tends to illness is to invite horrid death itself. Teeth like tombstones are revealed as the great malevolence grins gregariously, a genial glint flickering in his eyes clouded with pale pus and feculence. A beard of buboes and boils hangs from the beings corpulent maw as the mountainous chair it sits up creaks and cries as it shifts its incomprehensible bulk to face you.

Your perception of it flickers, attempting to understand the nature of such an ancient existence. At once it is nothing but a great mass of despair, desperation, fear and absence of hope, at once it is a being of mold and fermented waste, at once it is a hive of countless vermin and insects, at once it is a bloated devil dressed in apparel befitting a noble of Yan, holding a rusted tea pot in which the innards and bowels of plague victims. Your mind accepts the last, to cling to sanity in the face of such concentrated foulness. A mouth peels across the father of plagues expansive gullet, a tongue infected with spiders and dripping with fungal slimes rolls across the his belly and crawls to reach for the jade like beauty caged at his side.

Gripping the Jade Null Denouncement Charm, you muster all of your willpower and courage to gaze upon the sickening essence of the being. The abomination is impressed by your valor, for his grin grows ever wider, splitting as fungal spores float upon his stagnant breath from the grave.

Boiling blood drips from your chin, the whites of your eyes have turned red from the vessels that have popped in the struggle to simply look upon the manse and its garden.

A voice spoken into the core of your soul, the bones of your creation, rattles and warbles as it speaks threats veiled in gentle kindness and wicked merriment.

"How long have you suffered for the benefit of all, oh child of man? How long have you languished, toiling to better the world when all will eventually decay and return to dust and soil alone? How long have you struggled and battled to prevent the natural course of nature, warding off death and plague alike in the wayward hope that it would all cease to be and vanish from the life of your kin? Is it not exhausting to work without cause or meaning, to rage against the coming dusk in the feeble effort to prolong the day? Is it not tiring, to do all of these things and know all of your work, all of your deeds, all of the good you have done will be wiped away by entropy and the winds of times, forgotten and unknown? That all who you have saved shall wither and rot away with age, shall sicken and grow weak while you stand eternal and unchanged? Is it not bothersome, to struggle to begin with? yet alone merely to extend the suffering of life itself?"

Like jackal's venomous spittle the devil whispers again.

"After all, do you not teach that death should be welcomed with open armsssss?!"

You close your eyes, but the monstrously joyful grin does not fade away from your vision. Nor does the sorrowful, solemn gaze of the alien beauty that sits at its side, muttering...muttering secret protections and wards against the evil that cages her like a lonesome song bird.

"I refuse the lure of nihilism! TOAD OF DECAY! WORM WHO BASKS IN MISERY! FORLORN MIRTHFUL KING OF DISEASE! YOU WILL NOT TAKE HOLD OF MY HEART!" You roar in response, dipping a thumb in the blood throwing from your eyes to paint a script of the Null Denouncement charms' protection alongside the words that make up the being of Kanzeon's avatar upon your brow and cheeks.

And they are ignited by golden fire, as are your eyes, as the arena you have made is drawn into the limbo between the temporal and spiritual. The stage of battle is set, between the world of sanity and the realm of madness.

The toad king begins to claps his hands thunderously, bellowing a laugh from his torn open stomach that shakes reality and unreality itself.

"Yes! yes! A celebration is in order! the dying struggles of hope and light! Such a treat to share with my beloved! come my children and watch the fool fight against the foul fate that is foretold for him. Fallen, forgotten and failed~!" The emperor of putrescence sings

"The fire of hope cannot be smothered against any will but its own, the heart of a kindly man can endure any hardship" The heavenly beauty whispers, as her kidnapper howls with laughter and wailing sobs.

"I send forth my champion, to claim your soul! SON OF THE ANATHEMA!"

You drape the Jade Null Denouncement Charm around your neck, and ready yourself for battle

Burned flesh peek from beneath the pale azure bandages, as she searched amidst the trinkets she kept near her bed in search of the token she required to lend her aid to the vision of fire battling against decay in the depths of Sha'ei. She had born witnessed to the radiant ascension of the monkeigh warrior's soul and had foreseen numerous potential destinies that awaited the wayward son of the gestalt. She found it, a wraithbone staff that held the liquid remains of her eyes, that had melted away when she gazed upon the conflagration of the golden scholar's soul

Grinning like a crone, the crippled woman sat cross legged before it, and mustered her will to reach out into the vast abyss of souls to give what little assistance she was able.

"The eightfold path denounced, and turned inwards" She whispered
-

Guozhi's mind burned, as the shield erected by his student and mentor buckled from the sheer potency of the power he now confronted. Lieren's shadow stood out among the golden flames and burning black gasses that raged in the confines of the Null Denouncement zone, images of skulls, skittering vermin and shambling corpses stood amidst the clouds of putrid vapors and steam boiled from the fat of water bloated corpses. Never before in any of his lives had he been witness to such concentrated vileness and incarnated evil! Every sense of reason screamed at the old monk to flee away, to escape the death that stood mere inches away from his soul, struggling to escape and rot away the very essence of his being or otherwise forever stain it. Only the focused soul energy of Lieren, himself and all who believed in the giant came from nothing kept the wall erected by the Null Denouncement charms from breaking and releasing the malevolent forces they contained within.

And even such bountiful Qi of belief and hope, gathered and unified from countless souls, could scarcely fuel the charms with power enough to contain the Qi of sickness and death! All of Guozhi's instincts told him to flee away, but he could not abandon his student and friend upon boundary of the court of the demon lord of entropy, Nà gòu himself!

Even if his own existence was at risk, Guozhi was no longer the cowardly soul who was unable to join his brothers in death. He would stand by his kin until the dying breath of his final life.

"I DENOUNCE EVIL! I DENOUNCE SIN! I DENOUCNE WICKEDNESS AND VILENESS IN ALL ITS MARIAD FORMS! I DENOUNCE DECAY AND ROT ALIKE! I DENOUCNCE ENTROPY AND THE DEATH OF HOPE!" He howled to the heavens, gripping his burnt staff tightly as he used his own soul to funnel the energies of all lives connected and fed by Lieren's own radiant essence into the Null Denouncement Charms, to bolster their power to hold their defenses

A second presence join him, stronger and purer than his own. A distant will cast in silver and pale azure light. And it fed its own power to maintaining the boundary between worlds, lifting weight from Guozhi's own tired shoulders

The creak of rusted metal foretells the approach of the evil spirit sent as your opponent, through the wavering connection between this battlefield and the depths of hell itself. Clockwork limbs held together by dried sinew and mucous strands of filth, covered in a cloak of groaning faces stitched together at the seams with thread spun from the gristle, guts and veins of corpse, pulsating with a a sickly green ichor. Spindly spider legs pierced through corpulent thighs, with gears and cogs splitting the tallow flesh of the corpse tied to the mechanical monstrosity that crawls through the tear in reality, past the draining energies of the Empyrean rushing to escape the light of the Null Denouncement Charms' light

Standing before you, is a great abomination. Dressed in greased skin torn from their victim's back, dripping with infection and clods of dirt. With arms and legs of rusted iron, bound together by rotting flesh and tanned hide. Its face is that of a goat, with horns cracked and pitted with popped boils and rotting along the edges.

With fangs of rusted daggers flashed in a grin, the devil stands before you, bemused enough by your appearance to chortle so ferociously to cause its bloated stomach to ripple and dance, as glass tubes full with boiling green ichor along its arms, spine and gullet.

"Interloper, future brother, you face the warden of life and keeper of rust. It shall be I who claims your soul for the grandfather!" The beasts spits, its bloated tongue dragging upon its fangs to leave a trail of putrid oil to drip from its jaws "You have bested the youngest's servant, but you shall not overcome my poxes"

You click your tongue, and fasten your blank war mask over your face. It would appear the spirit has some sense of honor, as he allows you to choose your weapon before initiating battle.

Choosing the Chendao, for its capabilities to strike from a distance, you watch the wretch reach into its throat with both of its iron claws, digging and clawing at its decaying flesh as if in search of something.

And it finds that something, pulling a raw iron rod from its stomach, bile and black oil dripping across its surface as it pulls the corroded metal from its maw, its tongue wrapping and tearing upon the hilt to form a grip as it rips the a corroded blade nearly the size of itself from the depths of its flesh. Pocket marks upon the swords edge sizzle and pop, as maggots crawl upon its length.

"The dance macabre begins upon the borderlands!" The devil bellows mirthfully.

I think she was referring to Nurgle with that one.
When you think about it, it's not a stretch to assume that a corruption of peaceful and harmonious values can turn into justifications for stagnation and rot.
Not to mention the intent of the Eightfold Path was to try and find freedom from the cycle of rebirth, which is another aspect of Nurgle.

It's ok.
I think she meant nore the fact that we wrote the journey to mirror the 4 chaos gods, but focusing on their positive aspect.
Hence the whole it being focused inward, because that's the oposite of the regular chaos star, that is pointing outward.

Also decided to make a real quick rough shot of inverting the chaos star both in color and direction. I think it looks kinda neat.

I can only imagine how hard this is getting censored by the Imperium. At this rate the Emperor is going to create an Ordo dedicated to covering up our misadventures with Chaos.

Kek, Lieren denouncing with style (aka trolling) Chaos and the Chaos gods.
>The 4: Your "eightfold path's" symbol is literally ours, you are and have always been subconsciously influenced by chaos, son of the Anathema, your ideals and philosophy are ours to easily corrupt.
>Lieren: It's just the rudder of a boat, I made it my symbol because I like pirates, YOHO!
>The 4: W-what? What kind of fucking bullshit answer is that!?!
>Literally every human: Well, if I have to pick between trusting Lieren and keeping my healthy eternal self-improvement philosophy intact or trusting a Chaos god and getting corrupted, I'll pick Lieren any day.
>The 4: WAIT NO, YOU CANNOT DECIDE, FILTHY MORTALS!!!
[And thus, Lieren and his cuatrillion followers reshaped the warp with their beliefs (and a human waagh field). That's why, in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war, and the background noises of Emps laughing his ass off in Terra]

A gibbering, guffawing mob of mobile blisters and sentient boils hollered jeering insults and sneering praises in a cacophony of warbling cheers and phlegm muffled shouts. Like the bystanders of a tournament, tottering devils and dancing spirits of disease swayed upon the horizon of the arena, just beyond the edge of reality and sight. The Keeper of rust stood before the hunter within the fog, seven spear tipped legs tapping and scrapping upon the fog wetted soil of Shangrala and bile coated step stones of Nurgle's own garden.

Laughter echoed and carried upon the noxious clouds of decay and miasmas of rotten breath, flies buzzed and gathered in choking flocks so numerous they could become as a veil to block the opposed light of the two suns that lit the stage of the duel between hope and despair. The wind within the warp shifted, first falling as still and stagnant as the floodwaters of the manse of the plague father himself, before suddenly roaring with life, jittering and whipping chaotic as if it were flailing and seizing in the agony of mortal death. The golden eyes of Lieren, starred past his opponent, into the wavering glimpse into the depths of the warp itself.

Looking past the filth and putridity, the young giant's gaze fell upon the alien bloom, her beauty yet untarnished despite the loathsome attentions of the patriarch of all things foul and putrid. A foreign existence, that stood far beyond his own, entrapped in a hell of entropic nihilism. And yet the caged maiden remained radiant in her purity, in the hope and kindness that she still nurtured within her own heart. Like a lotus flower rising from a mire of mud, the queen of blossoms would not be sullied by her station in the world, nor would she abandon the hope of a better tomorrow.

In her gentle eyes, filled with a boundless love, Lieren recognized himself and another. The unbreakable faith of Luli

Closing his eyes, Lieren summoned the force of his will
-
Images of Luli, whole once more, danced in your mind's eyes, along with that of the ghostly maiden freed at last to frolic and wander distant fields of flowers. Using both maidens as a focus with which to stoke the flames of emotion within your heart, you honed the warmth of hope into a brilliant, shining light that could rival the sun itself. Hope and love, emotions so closely tied together, flowed from your heart to spread across the entirety of your being. A hope that could not be crushed by the worst oppression, hope that could not be dashed away by any form of cruelty or sadistic glee. A hope that could endure the passing of ages and the end of all things.

A hope that burns bright beyond the veil of death. The hope of the defeated, of the doomed, of the dead. The hope of a matron of a dying race, still dreaming of a better tomorrow. The hope of a tortured maiden, deflowered and abused yet still facing the rising dawn with a gentle smile. The hope of those who refused to be tempted by despairs' sweet allure.

Reality shuddered against the power of your convictions made manifest
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k1F3PjY948
-

The Giant remained still, but the Warden of life refused to take a single step towards his motionless opponent. After all, his purpose was to claim the warriors soul, not to cast it into the depths of the immaterium. If the hunter from nothing had already accepted the sweet nectar of despairs' acceptance, than their would be no point or call to attack his newly adopted brother.

However, Lieren had not abandoned hope, but rather embraced it completely and utterly, allowing its soothing song to paint the essence of his being. The hope of men, the hope of a goddess chained, the hope of the race fading. The golden conflagration of the self devouring flame froze for an imperceptible moment, drawing upon the reserves of strength and emotion that ever flowed through its expanse.

Reality flickered, as the paradoxical core of Lieren's being branched and blossomed outwards like a young tree in being. Destruction and creation, hatred and love, judgement and mercy in balance, opposing forces reconciled and woven together into an all encompassing wave of willpower.

The Keeper of rust understood then, as Lieren summoned forth the power of his soul, that bringing the hunter from nothing to heel would be no simple task.

"The dance begins" The daemon cackled, as the fabric of the boundary within limbo shifted and broke apart, hastily mending itself into a new form. One dictated and commanded by the indomitable will of the second son of the emperor of mankind!
-

The transient world flickered, as the energies of the Empyrean and the will of its inhabitants and rulers sought to contest the reality you willed into being. But, like a breaking dam, the power from within broke out and flowed freely to across the temporary existence upon the borderland between the worlds of the living and the dead. Your enemy stood cautious and ready to strike as the wave of change washed over his bloated flesh and rusted hide.

The split world became one, visions of the macabre manse's gardens washed away alongside the ghostly specter of Guozhi and the graves that you defended now from further desecration.

In their place, a strange bone white material stood like a field of flowers and ancient trees swaying upon an ethereal wind. A garden of heavens, dotted with luminescent gems of gold and crimson. Titanic trees wired and singing with linger souls reached for silver hued heavens and the strips of silk thin clouds that meandered across them. Gentle streams of clear water bubbled along the path of bone hued stone and shimmering gems. At your back, stood graves of ancient kings and sages, to your front stood the devil of rust and perverted life.

Wraith like wardens, dressed in queer regalia and alien armors stood silent within the rolling fields the limbo arena had been replaced with, their strange arms presented and held firm as their almond shaped eyes stared serenely towards the horizon.

"What manner of power is this?!" The keeper of rust howled, as your blazing spirit began to take physical form once more upon the spiritual realm, influenced by the wellspring of hope you have cultivated within your own heart. Currents of amethyst and silver winds danced upon your back and lifted your hair as if a dozen hands combed their fingers through your iron hued mane.

Looking upon yourself, you saw you stood taller, dressed in a resplendent regalia of silver armor, with sheets of ice roiling across the blossoms and flowers that were etched upon its surface like water poured from a pitcher or fire creeping for fresher fuel. Gems of gold and icy blue sat nestled between each blossom carved into the surface of the alien armor your spirit self had donned. In the center, in a crease torn over your twin arms, sat a bloodied sword of unfamiliar design that flickered with a dying flame, ancient and scattered.

Gripping its hilt, the flowing roots of ice traveled ton your hands and wandered down the blades edge, the weak tongues of flames still burning beneath the razor thin edge of frost and snow that now covered them.

A mask of the two opposing elements formed of your face as you tore the weapon from your chest, and charged forward. The blade was broken into countless pieces, but ethereal ice held them together as the spark of hope turned into the blaze of conviction. The fragments realigned to turn the colossal blade into the razor edged hilt of a titanic scythe, upon which stars were set like gems upon the lengths of its reaping blade.

In two voices you spoke one deathly cold, the other enflamed with fury.

"That of the Hope which springs eternal!"
"My own! IT FORETELLS YOUR DEATH!"

The Warden of life lifted its corroded blade as you sprinted and leapt forward, taking four bounds to meet your decayed enemy. With a flash of fire and moonlight falling upon clear ice, you swung the scythe in your hands, a great golden light trailing behind its edge like funerary smoke.

Reality flickered the moment it met the pitted edge of the plague devils own weapon, the wretch having moved to parry your strike most boldly! The scythe's blade sliced through the rusted iron like a plow through fertile soil, bile and black oil freezing and burning in drops as they flew from the broken edge of the spirits now shattered blade.

"GYNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" The beast shrieked, shielding its eyes as reality violently reasserted itself, The phantom of the scythe of burning ice fading away as the upper half of the sickened blade circled through the air trailed by pus and oil flecked blood. It stuck into the Null Denouncement charms' field, and began to burn away into white ash.

The cry of a thousand ravens traveled upon the winds that begin to whip up again, as you stood a foot away from your spider legged opponent, whose three clouded eyes filled with shock and disbelief. A gong sounded, and laughted filled the blackened sky of the transient arena between worlds.

Orbs and motes of golden like floated upon the air like seeds upon the winds.

"WRETCH! THAT WAS A GIFT FROM MY DIVINE FATHER!" The keeper of rust shrieks, spittle flying from its goat shaped head as it threw itself towards you madly, seven legs skittering two and through in a chaotic dance

Swinging your Chendao downards, you held it at your side, and lifted your right hand towards your face, holding its first two fingers together as you stood firm and readied yourself for the onslaught to come.

I'm ok with studying it, I even said to study on how to properly counter and destroy it. However I'm afraid on it's effects on normal humans and it's stability, warpstone isn't exactly the most reliable of materials, it's too volatile and making it safe would probably require an extra dedicated Gellar field, and even weaponry would leave warp fallout.
Also I'm afraid skavens will appear out of thin air to ruin another setting.

Even if it does, we have DAoT technology, which opens avenues in the realm of warpstone study that any given Fantasy faction could only dream of.

Anyone got a problem with me making the Panthers 6 legged monstrosities with 4 glowing red eyes?

I also want to keep them black instead of silver
>>
In general Lieren armor is a mix of plates and scales. Plus some leather, under he has usually it s everyday clothing. Ah right, I didn t remember to add it but he puts a bone brooch (if i remember correctly) in his bun of hair.
>>
>>4806840
I prefer the silver panther with the flowing golden eyes, because silver is closer to iron, therefore it looks more like us.
But you can make it be melanin enriched, it can be a special mutant or something.
>>
I'm thinking that he's more scholarly clothing and with light armor like a breastplate and some bracers
>>
>>4806840
Oh no i have no problem with that feel free to work on it. I didn t remember if they had glowing eyes honestly, but it can be a cool touch. Perhaps at night ?
You mean for the symbol ? oh that s not a problem. If you do them like an animal, they are said to be white-silver of fur.
But if it s a symbol, i have use already different colors black too.

>>4806877
Perhaps a cousin from the Vishnu region

>>4806883
No lorewise he has full armor on, even a war mask. Or i wouldn t have made him like that at all. The only difference is that i didn t put the war mask on his face.
>>
He also still find weird how little armor Vishnu have. In confront to the people of Yang and him, that make large use of them.
>>
>>4806894
I normally draw him wearing a robe underneath to give those open parts some colour and action, and a hairband instead of a bone brooch for the same reason, to break a bit of the pure iron. But a faithful recreation of Lieren would be fucking cool.
Perhaps you could put the war mask hanging on his hip, or on the ground fallen?
And I guess if the vishnu lands are darker or the fog there shimmer less, the panthers would have black fur instead.
>>
>>4806921
It would be indeed. I was thinking to make it. Because i am not satisfied with what i made and having a proper representation would be cool.
That could be a way but I would like to make it with mask and helmet on this time. I am not sure I am able, though i can attempt at least.

I suspect as well, the panthers would adapt to the different climate/region.
And the hairband was a nice touch for him.

I mean think of it like this.

Unseen master was the first time he saw warp energies/ magic

Huli Jing was the first daemon he fought in the "flesh", then he briefly studied the warp and learned some tricks of his own.

Lieren has simply learned how to actually fight Warpspawn, and he is pushing his body to its limits to be able to keep up, alongside denouncing their existence with his own belief/ enraging them to make them slip up.
>>
>>4809195
The closest analogy I actually have here, is in a video game that introduces an elite enemy.

Sure the first time it pops up, you shit yourself. So many unknown variables and a lack of mastery of the controls put your life in danger.

But then a smile revealed itself upon your lips, a curling sneer inviting the wrath and fury of the smoldering collection of rusted machinery and moldering flesh. Turning your two upheld fingers onto their backs, you beckoned the Keeper of rust mockingly, its three disease clouded eyes filling with a cold spite as your lips parted and almost instinctively you spoke a scathing barb to further infuriate the denizen of the empyrean.

"Wretch!" You guffawed, stepping back and swaying almost maiden like as you focused your eyes into the devil's third "But I thought I was your brother some moments ago!"

The laughter in the skies silences, before returning in a breathless wheeze of cackles and demeaning giggling, like a court of noble ladies laughing at a drunken prince making a fool of himself. The vermin and smog shrouded heavens break as rays of crimson radiance bleeds through the veil of sickness and decay. The Warden of life stands still for a fraction of a moment, gears ripping through his flesh as cogs wind his expose spine and the lime hued ichor pumping through its desiccated veins bubbles and froths violently.

Hacking, wheezing and hissing, the mechanical aberration lifts itself from the gloom it had allowed itself to be mired within upon the breaking of its treasured blade, and charges forward, blinded by rage and shame. Smiling a little wider, you stand on your toes and bow your back, bringing your empty hand to you mouth to cover it as you titter girlishly, to make further mockery of your enemy's broken and blackened heart.

Geysers of puss and reeking oils spews from the shattered edge of the infested plague, becoming as whips as you stand and remaining mimicking the mannerisms of a courtly lady to deepen the blade of insult your have already so deeply thrust into the pus filled warriors mind, clouding his already fevered perceptions! A charge into a forward thrust, carrying all of his weight and monstrous power! He truly intends to impale you upon a blunted edge of a rusted blade! Amusing!.

Laughing, you pivot, throwing all of your weight to a single toe before slowly stepping down to your heel and repeating the movement once again to face the devil as you lean back. The beast can see the mocking mirth in your eyes, and despite your demeanor now matching its own moments ago, it becomes filled with a purer fury than before! Swaying away, you dodge the back swing, a lock of iron hair fluttering past your eyes and turning black as you narrowly avoiding the repulsive bite of the plagued iron blade. Leaping, hoping between feet, you perform a variation of the carp's dance to avoid the wild sweeping swipes the devil makes, attempting to cripple your legs and thus end your playful game of dodging.

However, while he is clever, the warden of life is clumsy in it shame. Its wrath has loosened its grip and shaken its bloated hands. Flippantly offering a hand to the wheezing, bloated spirit you smile genially and lean away from its stench
cnt
>>
>>4809381

"Is this the dance you desired?" You question with mock innocence, fluttering your eye lashes in direct mimicry of Qian Xia's favorite trick "In all honesty, you are somewhat a lacking partner"

"it was a gift! you wretch! you brainless dog! Heartless cur!" The devil cries out, tears of filth flecked bile dripping from its infected eyes

Flashes of lightning, red and white fire in the sky, illuminated your mocking sneer as the words slowly crept from your lips like vines strangling the life out of a withered tree, sickened and weak.

"THEN ACCEPT THIS GIFT FROM ME INSTEAD!" You shout, twisting around, swaying away from the wild strikes and swings that would be more befitting for an axe aimed at a tree rather than an agile enemy.

The devil's jaw cracks open and becomes lip as if dislocated the rusted daggers it has for teeth coated in fungus infected mucus and frothed spittle that drips over its chin, clinging to the few patches of fur that still grace its flea bitten hide. And you are forced to retreat, as a cloud of stinging flies erupts from the spirit's distended throat, glowing green with the same sorcerous ichor that is continually pumped into his veins.

Roaring the devil takes advantage of your momentary hesitation, to fling itself towards, you skittering between its seven cybernetic legs, rotating and swinging its torso in a chaotic rhythm. Allowing itself to strike from angles that should be unachievable from a warrior of its sheer bulk and size.

"Now now!" You shout back, regaining your composure and bravado, blocking a wild downwards swing with the haft of the Chendao"I haven't even handed over my gift! and you're already overjoyed! Just accept it! PROPERLY!"

There's no way you can match its sheer ferocity, your mind is restrained by hesitation and knowledge that such a wild assault is more dangerous to the attacker than their victim. However, you know of one who is no held back by such caution.

Aruna the mighty! Chieftain of the first tribe and unofficial leader of the once wild Vishnu Tribes. Opening up your mind and heart, you think upon your comrade, his character, his demeanor and the precious time you have spent with him, utilizing another technique of the psyker arts you have managed to cultivate within yourself.

An ability you have named "Mien of the companion loyal and true"
-

Aruna blinked once, suddenly overwhelmed by a feeling of vertigo and nausea. The brigand before him, a criminal who would steel from those under the protection of the great lieren, had become a pox ridden wretch, with bloated skin like that of a drowned corpse of a coward. Aruna blinked, and snarled, rage replacing confusion as he understood the sudden wave of sickness.

"Sorcery!" He howled, as blood dripped over his lip, flowing freely from his nostrils as he stood before the lesser warrior embolden by his disgust for such underhanded and cowardly tactics!

Akanksha turned from the pack of killers she was butchering, twin knives painted crimson with the fluids of their guts, her feathered cloak flying as she turned to find the enemy sorcerer among the bandits that had the misfortune of attacking an encampment visited by the five chieftains. An excited grin kept across the young warriors face, and she rushed to take the glory of saving the head of the first. Kamakshi, alongside the screamers of the seventh tribe, rushed to fill the gap left by the youngest and wildest chieftain in the line.

Aruna clenched his bloody hand and snarled, as illusions and lies cloud his vision! Lieren battling against riders and beasts with heads of flies, mocked by a court of maggots spawn from the corpse of men who never tasted the blood of their enemies.

"SORCERY!" Aruna bellowed, in Yan now, as the so called bandit lord of the western swamps recoiled back, understanding now the doom that now hastily approached him. The white paint upon the warrior chieftains face cracked as he grimaced. Rudra in the distance, barreled through the line of bandits, tossing them aside like a child would dice or dolls. Manu watched from a hill on high, fiddling with one of the strange weapons forged by the giant.

Moving like the flash of a drawn blade, Aruna was upon the bandit king, now twisted in his eyes to become a repugnant toad like cretin who oozed with sweated fat and other flowing filths.

"COWARD. DECIEVER!" Aruna screamed, his vision flushing red as he battered aside the traitors weak attempts at defending himself. The Scimitar that had served his line for generations cut through the lesser iron of the Yan with contemptuous ease.

The ancestral rage within him had been awoken, the sorcerer would part from this life with a lesson few men were foolish enough to learn.

Never spit upon a Vishnu's honor, or despoil his mind with the trickery of witches!

Snarling and spitting, Aruna cleaved through the bandit's lords valiant guardians, cutting them in twain as he became a whirlwind of death and unrestrained fury. His muscle bulged as he cut through flesh, bone and metal alike cleanly and without struggled. His veins pulsed as he cut down more and more men, his fiery blood surging through his body as the illusions before his eyes grew more monstrous and insulting. The only thing that kept him from becoming completely berserk was the presence of great Lieren, fighting alongside the nightmares conjured by the sorcerer fleeing his blade.

"MEET MY STEEL AND SEE THE WEAKNESS OF YOUR MAGIC, HONORLESS DOG! WHORE OF THE NIGHT" Aruna raged as he neared his enemy, the lies that clouded his vision fading away as he raised his ancestral scimitar high into the air.

"COURTS ABOVE WHAT MADNESS HAS TAKEN YOU!" The wretch cries out, attempting one final counterattack to drive away death itself incarnated into flesh.

Warpaint smeared by sweat and blood, Aruna parried the blow.

By severing the bandit's hand at the wrist. Twirling his bread and stepping forward, he prepared to claim his skull with a single masterful stroke of his blade. All it would take is a flick of the wrist and thrusting of the arms, and the devil's head would be his. But through the haze of his people's natural fury, Aruna awoke and understood. This was not his path, not anymore. His way was the way of peace. Lieren had shown him what his people could become if they merely calmed their raging blood and settled their warriors heart.

Barbarity like this was not longer acceptable. This battle was merely to save merchants. Glory, heads taken, blood shed. it was all meaningless. But

"Sinners must be punished" Aruna hissed in Yan, as he pivoted his swing mid strike, and instead cleaved the bandits head in twain.

"HAaaah! The first has taken all the sport!" Akanksha crowed impetuously as she came flying to the scene of slaughter.

And the Aruna toppled , his head becoming clouded as his strength left him.

"Devilry" He hissed bitterly, struggling to remain standing amongst the dead.
-
The Keeper of rust knew Lieren would eventually tire. His body was more formidable than the standard stock of man, but it would fatigue and weaken eventually, leaving it defensless against his sweet poison.

Yet the golden eye giant danced, smiling and shouting insults and mockeries, always a step away from the kiss of his wrongfully sullied gift's edge. Swirling, dodging, leaping, side stepping, ducking, pivoting and turning on his heel. He moved like an eel pulled from the water and tossed in a pot of boiling bile. It was troublesome, and enraging.

But then, sweeping his sweat coated hair back with his free hand, Lieren stopped and began to laugh to the heavens. The warden of light struck, not willing to allow an opportunity to slip from his grasp again from a misgiven sense of pride and nobility. Instead, he was met with the fang like grin of the giant, who turned suddenly.

His face had become painted into the shape of a death's mask, half a skull. A mockery of his lord and father. It dripped like white blood from his cheeks and chin as his golden eyes became ringed with burning bronze and stains of freshly spilled blood.

Moving his grip further along the haft of his modified Guandao, Lieren rushed towards him, screaming a battle cry that shook the reality of the borderland's limbo. A tiger's hide flew from his back, as the winds of the warp shuddered.

Another soul burned alongside his own, one once touched by the lord of killers himself. But now it was cast in the same golden radiance of he who would deny the grandfather's cloying embrace. Truly, this battle was the strangest the Daemon had ever personally fought, first son of anathema had bent a fraction of the warp to his will, and now he was playing host to energies of some meager mortal warrior? Such confounding powers!

"WHAT IMPROPER ETTIQUETTE! DID YOU NOT NAME ME BROTHER!? AN OATH BROKEN, FORESWORN!?" The giant laughed, lifting a single finger from the steel he held, accusing his foe of a crime that the daemon himself could not comprehend.

Before he remembered his words prior, and understood it as more mockery, but now spoken with a manic night feral energy. The keeper of rust roared, and sallied forth again to beat respect into the wayward soul
-
"COME! RECIEVE MY GIFT AND "AFFECTION", CORRODED BOIL UPON REALITY'S FACE, STAIN UPON LIFE, AFFRONT TO NATURE" You roared, Aruna's potent rage and battle frenzy becoming your own as you became an avatar for a portion of his proud and battle tested soul "FACE ME AND KNOW THE TRUTH OF DEATH!"

A vertical slash, meant to disembowel. You shudder the daemons arms with a counter attacked, shoving the haft of the Chendao into his blades paths. Sneering and spitting, you step forward, and swing the counterweight upwards between two of his legs. The beast brays in pain as its corroded genitals are pulped against metal. Stumbling, the devil rotates its torso, spinning and attempting to confound your battle sense by attacking from angles outside of your perception.

But there is nothing you can't see, Shifting your grip upon the Chendao, you swing it backwards before pivoting it to swing its mighty blade down directly upon the bloated forearm that reacts to parry the strike. The spirit doesn't react and draw his arm back to drive the edge of his blade against your stomach, scrapping flesh and exposing the rusted bones beneath.

Sparks fly above spilt pus and bleeded oils, you shift your posture, lowering on leg as you lean with the other, and twist the Chendao to cut deeper into the wretch's flesh.

It catches upon a cog, and for a few steps, you carry the bloated corpse thing into the air, its spear tipped legs quickly as the mechanisms that carried the devil onwards creaked and groaned to a halt. Dancing away from the riposte, you allow the devil to fall, and circle around its side before unleashing another flurry of blows.

Each is blocked by the corroded edge of its blade, each strike dulling the Chendao's own edge. However, you keep your opponent on the defensive, the wild abandon which the Vishnu bring to battle keeping your from retreating as every strike foretells victory and an end to this duel.

"What creature has tutored you in the use of such troublesome techniques!" The warden of life growls, as you duck beneath his blade, avoiding losing your head. Strands of iron hair falls upon the raging winds, turning black as the filth and supernatural diseases upon the blade consume them utterly. A single cut would prove crippling, or even deadly.

HOW EXHILIRATING!
Cont
>>
>>4809401

"You look him in the eyes now cur! Nothing is real except what you create, and what we create is reality. I empower my allies who in turn empower me!" You shout, blade bouncing off the pitted surface of your enemy's own weapon, sparks and sliver of black iron filling the air and flying upon it like flies fresh from a cadaver

"CEASE YOUR BABBLING AND TELL ME THE GOD YOU SERVE!" The wretch cries out, unable to see even though he has eyes. Unable to understand what it is that gifts you strength beyond even your own inborn abilities.

"PROSPERITY" You howl, as you find a weakness in the spirits seemingly unbreakable defenses, a moment of confusion exposing his stomach to the reach of your blade "Tch! the folly of the blind!"

"WHAT?!" The devils gapes, three eyes wide and oozing some foul yellowed ichor as you step forward, bow your head.

And pierce his bloated gut with the tip of the Chendao's blade. Stomach acids spill outwards, hissing upon the steel, as flies and tottering abominations wide the flowing waters of bile and filth. The steel of the Chendao crackles, as if it were being digested by the otherworld humors of this wretch's body.

And then the Null Denouncement charms you writ upon its edge activate. A bray of agony silences the laughing, jeering crowed, the cries of the ghostly ravens, the drum beat of distant thunder and the howling of the wind.

Gripping the hook at the end of the Chendao's blade, the Keeper of rust wails in agony as waves of golden light burn his corrupted skin and tainted flesh.

But he keeps his grip upon the blade and slowly pulls it from his stomach, tears of blood streaming down his goat like face, staining the bristly fur that clings to his starved jaws.

"how! how! How!?" The creature cries outwards in confusion, as it lifts you from the ground, using the Chendao as leverage "ANSWER ME! WHO IS YOUR MASTER!"

"MYSELF!" You spit, as you are thrown towards the glowing walls of the arena, and slide down it, unharmed like a drop of rain falling upon a pane of glass.

"LIAR! DECIEVER! YOU CANNOT HAVE ACHIEVED SUCH POWER WITHOUT AID" The warden of life bellows in a blind rage as you close the distance it had briefly created between the two of you. It counter charges, blades raised, legs clawing deep grooves into the stone and soil in its path. Its entrails danced upon the wild winds of limbo.

"UNITY!" You scream as you leapt forward, throwing your weight to put every ounce of your strength into the swing to come.

Sparks flew, mortal steel met unnatural iron. A spear tip flew through the air. Joined Shortly by most of the Chendao's blade. The rest remained stuck in the stone the spirit had been standing upon before you cut through the deadly tip of its leg.

It sneers in victory, broken blade raised high of its head.

"I have taken his gift to you" He cackles as a blindly rage burns through your mind.

"You have made a grievous miscalculation" You say coldly in reply.

Firing the Chendao, you free what remains of its blade and glower at the six legged beast, who is in the process of laughing itself sick, seemingly ignorant of the mortal would dealt to it, or the verminous forms of life crawling out from the darkness of his bowels

What is your third move, Lieren.
>Drop the Mien of Aruna, and adopt another (who) before his warriors blood leads you to ruin
>Bellowing a Vishnu War cry, Slam the broken head of the Chendao against the spirits Chest and charge forward, heedless of any danger that lays ahead.
>Perform a third psykerist technique, one designed for battle. "Cloak of the ever burning will" , and wear the fires of your soul much like Yin Aiguo did the fires of Huli Jing's foulness.
>FIRE EVERYTHING.

And you thought Lieren was angry naturally. See how mad he can be when mimicking a proto berserker.

And no, the Wild Vishnu are not khornate, but they were close to it, before Lieren turned them from that path. But their civilized cousins...

Yes we have still the six fanged spear and the dao's. In theory we should even have some explosives with us. Beside that, we are lethal even in unarmed combat. And we still got our first knife with us.
But my plan is to bring it to the arena border thanks to our attack. The border is dangerous for him, since is the border where our ritual stones are.

We use the powers of our experience.

Also, is The Journey going to get the Little Red Book treatment? I honestly think it'd be pretty good to issue every single one of our guardsmen an pocket-sized version of The Journey. It would do well to help them remember it while fighting against the servants of chaos.

Our Marines can remember it word by word on their memory alone, but Guardsmen? Not so much.
>>
>>4810123
Once we get a printing press going, having a portable copy for everyone to quickly check in the go should be feasible.
But better not make it mandatory, the journey is supossed to be something you follow out of your own free will.

Yeah. Making it optional sounds like a good plan. It'll be like the only thing a guardsmen will not get shot for if they lose it, but we'll throw in that little tidbit that it might help them literally and metaphorically beat the shit out of literal demons if they're virtuous enough.

The problem with printing press is quality. Maybe once the guardsmen has lived ling enough, and earned enough money, they could commission charma made of better quality than ink and paper, not that theres nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>4810152
>But better not make it mandatory, the journey is supossed to be something you follow out of your own free will.
It doesn't matter what we do, anon. Pretty much anyone who refuses to read it is going to read looked at weirdly in the corps; and yes, i know that people who read it would know you're not supposed to judge others, but i also know they're going to do it anwyays because that's how SOCIETY works.
>>
>>4810320
>The problem with printing press is quality.
You kidding me? Books are literally the cheapest thing ever. Especially once we get to fancy technology that would allow us to make artificial everything. Paper press with an cardboard cover covered in plastic, that's all we need. It doesn't have to be fancy, it just has to be sturdy enough to not bend just by being in someone's pocket.

Let the Comissars and Veterans be the one carrying fancy leather-covered gold-lined copies.

Lieren will perform the technique "Cloak of the ever burning will" And fire every bullet the Chendao holds into the bloated body of his opponent.

Also, remember, when the fight is done, Lieren will introduce Kanzeon to his intellectually gifted friends, as well as teach them the new technologies he brings and have a serious talk with Dandan about her unrestrained lust for destruction.

Yep, Aruna drew a bit of his power during his rampage against the bandits. And Cao Yanru drew on his force of will during his sabotage.

Oh oh oh. Would it be possible to channel the spirit of an animal, like a fog Panther, or our faithful blood thirsty horse?
>>
>>4810848
I figure the best policy going forwards is "it isn't sorcery, at least not as you understand it. It is all of us being connected through soul and life, able to draw on the strength of the others." If we are aware of others having used our soul, make the case that they do it subconsciously, as is the nature of those in a team.

The Mien of fire and shit, maybe use to explain that they are the weapons of those who fight the spiritual. No different than a sword or a spear. But he may not buy that.
>>
"My will is not so fragile as to be broken by the mere shattering of trinkets, or the defilement of mementos!"
