Well, we have the documents sent to the manor and sit our ass down to work.

From what we can see, now that the tribal unrest is health with, there's only exterior threats and improvement of the territory to consider. We already have plans to improve the territory, so we have to look at external threats.

The swamp to our East is so large, nobody is truly sure how far it goes. No organized attacks have come from that direction, not even in the form of barbarians or monster packs, though the rare large monster did wander into town on the past, which led to the creation of multiple military outposts out on the swamp.

Well, this is a fantasy world (for us), but the landscape is rather realistic, and the swamp is not a hellhole of mud and quicksand, so being assigned to such a watchpost isn't hell or anything like that, but conditions could certainly be improved.

Reading over the reports of each watch commander, there's five outposts total, and the commanders of three of them are asking for materials, supplies, and men.

The outposts in question are Tower Pole, Sunset Keep, and Blackrode Keep.

Tower Pole houses the troops and most facilities inside a massive tower atop an island, with enough space around it for stables and potentially a rockitship dock, which is what the commander wants to build.

Sunset keep is built on shallow water over a massive rock, so having tall enough foundations, it is a nice, dry fortress despite being surrounded by miles of shallow water. The commander wants to build a dock.

Blackrose keep is built on top of an ancient fortress, and much of its expansive hallways are still empty. The commander wants to repair and ready those hallways for use. He insists on monsters spawning in the unoccupied areas from time to time, so he wants to hire researchers to deal with the issue. The building costs would be minimal, but nobody knows the final cost. A positive point, however, is that the keep is in a key position to oversee future exploration of the swamp, though.

We can only fund one project, which one should it be?

Fund Blackrose Keep, as we know from our research that Dungeons are a natural (for this world) phenomenon that can form in any random cave or unused underground structure. It would not be good for a Dungeon to randomly start in a military post.

Also, can we fund the creation of a set of Linked Journals with all of the Outposts? That way, they can provide reports and more quickly send out alarms if some Monster comes from the swamps.

...the doctor said that it was a normal ear infection and that was it. I pointed out "this is literally the 2nd time on my life I get an ear infection, and the first time was in June. Two in a lifetime within less than a year... maybe its 'something'?" And the doctor said that if I got an ear infection a third time, he'd derive me to an specialist. I am not happy about this, but I understand the medical services are collapsed right now. But does that collapse extends to ear specialists?

Also, I remembered that we spent the morning with Athena and took her out to lunch, so this work schedule would actually be in the evening while she's out with Dawn, so we're talking about tea time or an early dinner, or just a break.

“Master, you don't need to do th-” Our beautiful redhead complains softly as we take one of the plates she is carrying out of her hands, then shush her with a kiss.

Kind of odd that out of all the cultural differences between our new march and the rest of the continent, one of the first we notice is the absence of food carts.

We give her another little kiss, just because.

“It isn't safe.” We comment in reference to the fact that she was carrying a large plate in each hand, one of them with a steaming tea pot.

Of course we know her endurance rating is high enough she (and we, for that matter) could swim in boiling oil and came out just fine the other side, but its the principle of the thing. It is one thing being able to lift 5kg of something with ease, and another to carry 5kg of loose plates, tea cups, cutlery, pastries, cookies and several other little things in a plate held from beneath, with each hand.

As we precede her into the room and lower the plate with the tea pot unto the desk, then make room for her to lower the one with the pastries next to it, we lift our hand towards our shoulder and help Kya down unto the snacks plate so she can pick whatever she wants. Our tiny blond makes for quite the cute sight as she walks over the silver plate in a beeline for the honey and nut cookies.

We do need to pick up her new clothes soon, though she's perfectly decorative (and somehow cute) in her current state.

“This is not a local product, is it?” We ask as Lyann pours us a cup of golden tea
“No, it is imported from the western side of the empire. Your slave hadn't had time to try out the local flavors yet, but she will soon.”

What do we do about this naughty maid? Showing too big of a reaction would just mean she triggered us and thus succeeded in pranking us, we can't do something like 'rouch sex punishment' without it feeling like some sort of reward, and we're not angry enough to cut off the engagement...

We arrive at the palace in Alquia and Lyann guides us towards the east wing library, as our cute empress is busy reading multiple tomes about geography and history of the 'off sea colonies' (as the Alquian empire was known back in the day) still. We'd ask her how she knows where we are going, but we did leave 'a' Lyann with Mako, so of course she knows where to find herself.

That almost sounds philosophical, doesn't it?

“Eldric, welcome home!” Our cute empress greets us happily, pitter-pattering as she hurries over to hug and kiss us, standing on the balls of her feet while still dressed in a 'toned down' version of her full court dress.

Which mostly means she got Lyann to help her take off the flashy and extensive head accessories, circlets, bells and silk lines that normally hang from them, as well as the second and third layers of her court dress, which left her wearing an a~almost comfortable, rigid-at-the-waist white and sky-blue silk dress.

Well, pretty girls look prettier with simpler clothes, after all. And our Mako looks quite beautiful as the simple dress hugs her thin waist as if it was trying to fuse with her, while covering her wonderfully shaped, ample bosom and hips with a thin, almost transparent and light layer of clothing.

“I'm home.” We reply before kissing her back as we caress her sides gently. “Why isn't my Mako getting ready for bed? It is almost time.”

She does tend to just fall asleep at 9... regardless of where she happens to be at the time.

“I-i am empress now!” She tries to look offended, but ends up as adorable. “I can stay up later if I want to!”
“Can you?” We smooch her softly, then trail kisses down her neck to her shoulder

We give her fingers a gentle squeeze as we lead here through the portal, coming out In the southern wall outer perimeter.

The place is quite different. It used to be a massive, sheer drop wall cobbled together by millions of small stones, but now we cannot even see the wall under the thick, bright green courtain of vines and leaves that cover it... and it only takes us a moment to realize that the enormous leaves have sharp, jagged edges ending in thorns, and they are discreetly placed one over the other in the shape of maws.

Or rather, those are maws, aren't they? And the thick vines are covered in 9" long curved thorns.

And anyywhere we look over the wall, there's enormous blue and white flowers swaying gently in the breeze, each the size of a T-Rex's maw... yeah, this is Fleur's work, isn't it?

Thanks to our [Zoologist] levels, we can't just feel the location and state of our pets whenever we want, or send them to level up beyond the range limit of a [Beastkeeper], we can also summon them to our side, though on this case there's no need for such a dramatic effect as having an explosion of light leading to a summoning, since we can tell Fleur is just some couple hundred meters away.

“Sbastian reinforcements.” Comments Lyann as she notices the darksteel siege wagon parked inside the walls.

Asmund's troops, probably. Mostly constructs (mostly stone and metal golems), kept running through a medium-range supply of magical energy supplied by the [Mana Generator]s kept safe inside such carts. Of course, while the heavily armored and armed carts can be considerable battle assets by themselves, they have a very clear tactical job, and that is to stay in the back and keep the army powered up.

They're not armed and armored to fight forth, they're armed and armored to fight off anyone trying to get smart about dealing with Sbastian 'troops'.

Curiously, we don't see the 'troops' anywhere.

After passing by the cart, we finally spot Fleur. Our little plant faery sure has grown up/evolved, going from being a large but immobile man-eater plant into a mobile one into a small (literal) flower child into a cute girl with petals for hair and finally into an curvaceous young woman with a baby face and sensually full lips that still keeps the mannerism of a girl barely entering her teens.

Of course, she could tell we were coming to her, so she too was walking towards us, riding what looks like a mix between a boar and a dog made from plant matter.

“Master, you meanie!” She immediately accuses us as she rides the charging 'boar'

She pats on it, having it screech to a halt as she hops into us.

As it turns out, the reason we couldn't see Asmund's golems is because Fleur's offspring (her 'daughters') ate them. Well, like 90% of them. When she saw they had eaten almost all of them, she just gave up and joined them.
