You're a slime. 'How did this happen?' you'd think to yourself if you could still think. You appear to be in a dank dungeon filled with other stock 'for budding adventurers' monster stereotypes. You sense a small 'Giant Rat' scamper nearby.

What do?
>>
>>4409559
Attack and consume the rat to grow big and strong.
Contemplate howclong this threat will last before the QM loses interest and flakes.

You fling out a slimy tendril and ensnare the rat, its frenzied squeaking dies off as it perishes inside your highly corrosive form.

You've gained mass! You're now a slightly below average sized slime. You hear what sounds like foot steps if you knew what foot steps were.

What do you do?
>>
>>4409568
Hide in corner and wait to see what comes into the room
>>
>>4409590
Unnerved by the sound of creaking leather on damp cobblestone, you slink away into a dark corner, hopefully out of sight from whatever is producing such a sound.

"Ehh... wizard said there'd be tons o' gold here, but all I see are these blasted 'giant rats'! Think I been gypped..."

The grubby looking fellow continues to fumble around the area with only a torch as his guide. he's left the entrance open from whence he came...

What will you do?
>>
>>4409612
Book it to the entrance and get outta here
>>
>>4409620
You lurch your gelatinous form towards the exit with surprising speed, leaving the befuddled man alone with the rats. Unseen, you head towards the entrance of the dungeon, passing by more rats, bats and venomous spiders in your transit. Just as you're about to reach the exit, A figure slithers out of the shadows. It's an average sized 'giant snake'! It bares it fangs and hisses at you, eye filled with hate.

What do?

Before the snake can react, you quickly direct several tendrils to constrict its serpentine form. It thrashes violently as your tendrils coalesce and envelops its entire body, but it is unable to escape its fate. It is snatched into your amorphous form and summarily dissolved.

You've gained mass! You're now a slightly above average sized slime. You ooze your way out the entrance of the dungeon into daylight, you're in a forest! Sunlight trickles in through the trees above, the rays reflecting off your body and giving you a healthy sheen. It's a warm sensation you've never felt before. As you amble further into the forest, you come across some tracks that lead into some brush...

What is your command?

You head off deeper into the forest proper, sticks and leaves and other things clinging to your glutinous form. You come to rest at the foot of the largest tree you can find and try to get your bearings. Suddenly you hear a rumbling sound emanating from the tree, "CHOSEN ONE OF GLOBULE, IT IS I... BIRCHTWEE. 12TH SIRE OF THE WORLD FLAME. IT IS GOOD WE FINALLY MEET..."

Not capable of understanding the birchtwee, you decide that it's best for you to get on your way. The birchtwee's cries of 'fate' and 'legend' fade into the background as you carry on forward. It's getting late now, the sound of cicadas chirping permeates the atmosphere. You come across a small riverbed and make plans to rest for the night. Your lowly form renders you incapable of higher thought, but if you were capable of such, you'd imagine you'd be thinking of how new and exciting this world is, at least, that's what you'd think you'd be thinking. Moonlight reflects off the babbling waters of the creek bed and you are suffused in the ambience of the forest wildlife. You relax and prepare to pool yourself in between the exposed roots of a tree, when suddenly the ground gives way and you plummet to the bottom of a pit. After collecting yourself, find yourself trapped inside a finely whittled wooden cage, staring at the form of a frost fairy. "HA! I finally got me a slime!" She says with cheer.

As the frost fairy dances in delight of her supposed quarry, you take the opportunity to squeeze yourself through the bars, an easy task for an amorphous creature such as yourself. The cage combs through your form harmlessly as you pop out right next to the blue fairy. "WHAT! but I worked so hard on that ca—MMPH!!" You immediately do what you do best, and engulf the fairy with haste. She was so taken aback by your escape, she has no time to fight back and is immediately consumed by your acidic interior.

You've gained mass! You're now, WHOA—

something strange is happening! Your amorphous form suddenly begins to take on definition. It sinks into itself, no longer a mere blob, the beginnings of humanoid limbs and a head take shape. Slowly but surely, your appearance molds itself unconsciously into a shape similar to the absorbed fairy. New senses come into being as your new head finishes molding itself a proper face, upon which a quizzical look is formed. You come to the startling conclusion that you now possess a mind!

Slime girl default state unlocked! Higher reasoning functions are now available!

"Uh, wha happen to me..." You test out your new ability to form words. You take the opportunity to observe your surroundings. It appears you've fallen into someone's (likely the fairy's) alchemical workshop. Brightly colored potions, flasks and various crude, mixing and separating tools can be found in abundance

You shake your... head? in confusion and make an attempt to... think and... remember... what you just consumed. "I... ate... girl? I am... girl. Am I girl I...ate? Did I do... bad? Why did I want... slime? I... am slime, but I am girl... too."
You ruminate on your present condition for some time, thoughts racing along the neurons of your freshly acquired nervous system.

You manage to recollect that the girl you... consumed was a frost fairy, and as such was capable of rudimentary ice magic. Upon remembering this, you unconsciously raise a viscous arm and shoot out a lance of magically enhanced ice which collides into the end table you were blankly staring at, destroying several vials and other glassware. "Ah!" You let out a high-pitched squeak at the sound of glass shattering.

Magic skill acquired! Ice Lance

"Magic? I can do... magic..." you say as you inspect and marvel over your new, humanoid limb, 'So different than... tentacle,' you think to yourself.

Once satisfied with the inspection of your new form, your eyes wander over to the vials filled with multi-colored liquids. "Looks... good," you say with a little nod of assurance. You are able to recall that the vials filled with pink liquid are 'healing potions', although they aren't meant for consumption by slimes. Not that that stops you; you immediately inhale everything pink you see. "Feel... Good!" You say as you feel a tingling sensation spread throughout you, pink mixing with the natural blue of your body, giving you a purplish tinge.

Satisfied, you then take notice of the blue potions. "Hmm... Magic..." You say as you tilt your head to the side and quirk a brow in bemusement. You're not sure what the blue ones do, but you know it has something to do with magic. You scarf them down just as quick. "Hmm... More magic?" You ponder. These didn't seem to do much...

You continue to survey the rest of the alchemist's stock. You see yellow vials, orange poultices, a nasty looking brackish brown brew... "Uhhh..." You clutch your head and wince as scant memories of various forest creatures dying as they tasted poisons such as these come flooding in, "Don't drink..." you say to with a note of fear.

Satisfied with this assessment, and feeling full from all the potion testing, you decide to bid the alchemy workshop farewell. You locate the exit and head out, finding yourself at the foot of a large oak tree with a sign hanging above the door you just trudged out of, completely illegible to you.

"...Bye..." You say, an uncomfortable feeling settles in your chest as your eyes water. You feel like you need to go back, back to where all this started, the dungeon. But... where is it? You have no memories of how to get back there.

What do you do?

As you start to set off, you suddenly begin to feel an odd sense of longing for the alchemy workshop. "...Home," you utter to yourself. That's right, it's late outside and you need to get back inside and rest. You nod your head in understanding and head back inside the oak tree.

Feeling tired from all the activities you've done today, you slink away into the darkest corner of the room and let yourself dissipate into a simpler form fit for rest. "...Night," you say as you drift off to sleep...

"Oh, I just need some blue slime! Oh my apothecary for some blue slime!" A shrill voice trills. "Sister, maybe you should head out into the wilds and find one then then, if you're so in need," a lazy sounding voice responds. "Quiet you! Frost fairies don't just 'head out' into the field like uncivilized heathens," the shrill voice continues, "We're far too intelligent and beautiful for dirtying our hands like that."
"I don't really know what to tell you then, I mean, it's not like a slime is just gonna fall out of the sky." "Hmm... I think you've just given me an idea, Gertie..."

The sounds of birds chirping rouse you from your slumber. Daylight shines in through the knothole windows of your arboreal dwelling. You let a small yawn and ponder on the dream you had. "Sister... Gertie... Where?" Your mind briefly flashes with images of a cave, ornately decorated with baroque sculptures of ice and frost where a myriad of frost fairies reside. "Where... Cave?" You wonder. Coalescing back into your humanoid form you feel a brief pang of hunger. "Hmm... hungry... Time for... Breakfast."

Cave... Cave... the dungeon? Right, the dungeon! You needed to go there... but, why? The slime making up the interior of your stomach gurgles. "Mmm... Hungry..." Right, you needed something to eat, and the dungeon provided plenty of tasty treats while you lived there. Only problem is...

"Where...?" You don't remember how to get there. You pause and scrunch up your face in thought. Your memories of being a simple slime are hazy at best, you think this is the first time you've ever ventured out of the dungeon. a dripping sound interrupts your pondering; you absentmindedly glance over to the source of the dripping only to find the cage where you were held before. You move over to the cage to inspect it mostly out of childish curiosity when a small drop plops on your head from above. You look up and see the tree roots where you rested before, as well as...

"Slime!" you say cheerfully. Your slime trail! You should be able to follow this to get back to the dungeon! You quickly slink your way out the apothecary, locate your slimy residue further up the tree trunk, and retrace your "steps". Past the birchtwee still babbling about 'sacred bloodlines', past the skeletal remains of what you can only assume is another fairy, finally back at the entrance to your old domain.

"Here!" You'd jump for joy if you had anything more than a clump of gelatin as means of upper body support. Your sensitive outer layer of slime can pick up the subtle nuances found in the air's vibrations: a bat harried into flight, a rat scurrying in fear, even a snake patiently stalking its prey. You stomach rumbles again...

You quickly set off to ease your stomach's grumbling. Sighting a medium sized 'giant rat', A single tendril surges out, ensnares your prey and retracts back into your form in the blink of an eye. Mass increased! You spy a large 'giant snake', presumably angry over losing the meal it had been pursuing. It meets the same fate as the rat. Mass increased! You continue in this way for a while, capturing and absorbing any stray creature you can find. Your mass increases accordingly. You've grown from the size of a fairy to about the same size as a small child!

Running out of terrestrial beasts to snack upon, you veer your gaze upwards and spy a large colony of bats suspended from the ceiling undisturbed by your presence, sleeping peacefully.

"Mmm..." You look down at your arm and recall the ice lance you 'learned' from the fairy. You raise up said arm and take aim, looking forward to trying something new to eat. Unfortunately, it seems your new power has something of a hair trigger, firing off as soon as you think to do so, throwing off your aim so severely that you miss the colony entirely, ice shattering harmlessly on the ceiling.

Countless pairs of red eyes snap open followed by a furious roar of innumerable wing beats and high-pitched chittering as the bats swarm over you and fly out the entrance of the dungeon. You duck down and put your hands over your head in an attempt to avoid the soaring onslaught. Thankfully, the bats seem more interested in fleeing from you than attacking. Once all the activity dies down, you cautiously peek your head back up and check the ceiling. All the bats are gone save for one, except this one looks a bit different...

The 'bat' swoops down from the ceiling and perches itself on a stalagmite, revealing a very humanoid bodyshape and head upon which a scowl resides. It's not a bat at all, it's a 'lesser imp'! The imp outstretches its hand towards you as a swirl of magical flame forms in its palm...

Not missing a beat, you immediately pounce upon the fallen imp, its furied screeching is drowned out as you envelop it entirely. As the foul thing dissolves you feel the familiar sensation of your mass increasing, along with more curious changes...

You feel your body growing larger, and as it does so the humanoid components of your form grow more defined. Your facial features sharpen; a thin, slightly upturned nose grows where once was only a faint suggestion. Pools of white settle in your eyes as visible sclera form. Your body as well becomes increasingly humanoid; your slime subconsciously rearranges itself to mimic a human musculoskeletal system resulting in a far more convincingly human like appearance than you sported before, at least from the waist up. You take a moment to look down at your hands. Five, delicately tapered digits ending in clearly delineated palms replace the crude, clump-like configurations you were using before.

You continue to inspect one of your new hands when a slight spark suddenly ignites in the middle of your palm. Curious, you stretch out your arm and immediately a gout of flame erupts out of your hand and flies out deeper into the dungeon corridor. 'I have... more magic?' You think to yourself.

You've gained mass! You've now roughly the size of a large child. Magic skill acquired! Fireball.

You tentatively advance toward where the girlish sounding scream emanated from. As you move further down the corridor you come across a young human wearing a red tracksuit bent over and gingerly rubbing his posterior, a grimace on his face.

"Yeeesh... not five minutes in and I'm already getting fireballs chucked at me," he lets out a dejected sigh, "so much for my grand entrance, at least nobody saw that."

"He-hello?" You cautiously interject. The human's head snaps in your direction, a look of shock clearly visible on his face despite the darkness. The two of you have a staring contest for a scant few seconds before, "AAAAHH!!! A MONSTER!!!" The human throws his arms up in terror as he runs and huddles into a dark corner of the room. Your response is to shriek in turn, "AAAAHH!!! MONSTER!!!" before following suit by slinking into the corner adjacent to him where you start to quiver with fear.

At this, the human ceases his trembling and looks over at your shivering form, "Wait... you're not here to start a fight?" His fearful expression gives way to a puzzled one. "N-no. I don't want... fight," you reply as you sneak a glance around the room, "where is... monster?" He tilts his head and cocks an eyebrow before pointing a finger in your direction, "Uh, you. You're the monster." "No! I'm not... monster. I'm... slime," you say emphatically. "Sooo, a slime monster then?" he's scratching his chin, sounding more curious than scared. "No! No monster! Just slime!" You say, growing more irritated.

The human then picks himself up and walks over to you. He squats down until he's about eye level with you and peers you up and down. "Hmm..." His expression grows more quizzical, "Now that I get better look at you... you're like a... slime girl aren't you?" He then lets out an obnoxiously loud gasp, "Maybe you're my first party member! Oh man, this is totally a 'first encounter flag'!" He pumps his fist in the air and does an odd pose, "finally, my luck is turning around!"

"First... encounter... flag?" You have no idea what this odd human is talking about. He drops the pose and sticks his thumb out towards his chest, "Tatsuo. Tatsuo Maeda. A NEET reincarnated for the express purpose of destroying the demon king and all his lackeys," he then snaps his fingers and points to you, "What do I call you?"

A frankly uncomfortable amount of time passes before you speak up, "...What?" You reply flatly. "Your name, you know... what you call yourself," he explains, "Er, am I being too forward or something? You're staring at me pretty hard..." He gives you an awkward look as he scratches the back of his neck. "Name... What?" You reply blankly. He seems perplexed before a look of recognition dawns on his face. "Wait, are you saying your name is actually Watt?" "...What?" "Ok, alright, I think I get it!" He flashes a grin and gives you a thumbs up, "Nice to meet you, Watt!" You just tilt your head to the side. At least he seems satisfied for now.

"But man, when Ankou told me I'd get isekai'd I thought I'd be sent to a starter town or something at least, not just thrown into a dungeon right from the start..." He crosses his arms as he glances around the area, looking a little irritated. You however, continue just staring at him. You remember encountering a few humans before, back when you were just a simple slime, but this one definitely stands out from the norm. "What are you... wearing?" You ask. Most humans you've seen wore some kind of drab, leather armor or tunic, you've never seen anything quite so red as what he's wearing before. "Oh, like what I'm wearing, huh?" He almost looks smug now... "This, my gooey friend, is only the finest, most comfortable tracksuit a shut-in can buy," he does a full body spin as he shows it off to you. You tilt your head to the side quizzically. You've never really understood clothing but apparently it's really important to humans...

"A-anyway. We should probably get out of here. I want to find out more about the 'Demon King'" he says looking a little embarrassed as you scrutinize him further. "Demon... King?" This human just continues to confound. "Ah man, I was kinda hoping you would more about him. All I know is that he's corrupting the land, and that a hero summoned from another world is destined to stop him!" He says this quite dramatically, even finishing his statement with an awkward flourish, before falling back to an embarrassed expression when he turns back to you and asks, "Er, do you think you'd be willing to help me defeat him?"

"Demon...King..." You don't know anything about that, but you do know what 'Defeat' means: food. "I'll help you... Defeat," you nod in affirmation. The human's grin nearly reaches his ears, "You will?! Oh man, that's AWESOME!! Thank you so much, Watt!!" "Not what... Slime..." You say, aggravation growing. This human is completely oblivious, on instinct alone you know he won't last in the wild. "Sooo umm... Do you know where we could get some information, maybe a town or something?" He says sheepishly. "Mmm..." You mull the question around before coming across the answer, "Tree..." "Uhh... What was that?" He quirks an eyebrow in confusion. "Talking tree... knows things. Follow me..."

You guide the human out the vacated dungeon into the forest proper. The midday sun shines brightly overhead as the pleasant sounds of birds chirping and leaves crunching underfoot are drowned out by the human's incessant chattering. "So a talking tree, huh? Well I guess you just have to expect things like that in a fantasy world, right?" He chimes in, one of many observations he's been all to eager to share with you along the way to the tree. "Mmm..." You make a vaguely agreeable sounding noise without actually opening your mouth.

The two of you retrace your slime trail and come across the clearing where the 'birchtwee' resides. "AH, CHOSEN ONE OF GLOBULE. YOU HAVE RETURNED," the tree's eyes ponder over to the human, "YOU HAVE BROUGHT THE OUTLANDER AS WELL. GOOD. THE SPIRITS FORETOLD OF A MEETING SUCH AS THIS."
"Huh, wow. This really reminds me of an old game my brother used to pl—"
"YOU WISH TO DEFEAT TE DEMON KING, DO YOU NOT?"
"Yes..." You answer for the both of you.
"HMM... YOU WILL NEED TO BECOME STRONGER. THE DEMON KING'S POWER IS EVER GROWING. DESPITE HOW DISTANT WE ARE FROM THE SOURCE, EVEN NOW I FEEL THE BEGINNINGS OF CORRUPTION TAINTING THE FURTHEST EDGES OF THE FOREST.
"So what do we uh—"
"TRAVEL EASTWARD, TO THE VILLAGE CALLED BARTON. THERE YOU WILL FIND THE ANSWERS YOU SEEK..." As it finishes this statement, the birchtwee closes is eyes, which you take to mean it's done talking with the two of you. "We go..." You say as you begin to leave. "You sure? I mean that's not all that much to go o—HEY, WAIT UP!" The human hurries to catch up with you.

Taking the birchtwee's advice, you travel eastward through the forest. You notice the forest trees are beginning to thin out as signs of human habitation begin to become apparent. You stop at the treeline and wait for the human to catch up. "Hah...Hah... You can... really move... Hah... despite... not having legs...huh?" He says while panting. Suddenly you hear a twig snap. The two of you quickly turn your heads towards the sound as a slim, hooded figure in a green cloak wonders out into the open. "Please... Please won't you help me..." a soft, feminine voice pleads. "Uh..." The human seems to stumble over his words, "W-w-what w-would you need help with m-ma'am?" He stammers out, is he dripping slime?

"Please... won't you help me..." You notice a slight sheen appear in her cloak as she raises her right arm "...to YOUR COIN!!" She rushes the human with a wicked looking broadsword.

Acting quickly, you sling out a flurry of ice lances aimed at her feet just before she lands a hit on the male human. She's stopped midstride, ice encasing her all the way up to her thighs. "Huh, what?!" She struggles helplessly to break free, banging the pommel of her sword against the ice. "AAAARGGH LET ME OUT!!" She howls in rage. "N-not before you answer s-some questions," the boy human replies shakily. "Ergh..." she continues smacking her sword against the ice before tiring herself out, "Ugh... Fine. Whaddya wanna know?" She practically spits. "F-first...um... are we near Barton?" the male human asks timidly. She just gives him a blank look and states, "Yes. We're near Barton. Can you unfreeze me now please?" "J-just hold on, ok? I still have a f-few more questions..." She just scowls in response. "W-why did you attack us? Are you a bandit?" "Oh by the gods. I 'attacked' you 'cuz I needed money. OK? And you looked like such an easy mark too...ugh..." She sighs dejectedly. "Are y-you with a bandit... group or something?" "No." "Are you... lying?" "NO! Just let me GO already!" "Ok ok! Just one last question: what do you know about the demon king?" "That we're all gonna die if no one stops 'em. There, we done with this little interrogation now?" "I...I guess so. Ms. Slime?" Garbled screams can be heard as the contents of your acidic interior begins to dissolve. "OH MY GOD. STOP!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HER???" The male human tries to reach inside you to pull her out but quickly retracts his hand in pain when he touches acid. "PLEASE STOP THIS!!" He's sobbing now. For your part, you have no idea why he seems so upset, you're just eliminating a threat.

The muffled screaming comes to an end as you feel your mass increasing. Slowly your form begins to retract back into its usual humanoid shape, but not before spitting out the armor and sword your prey was wielding. You take stock of yourself, you've changed quite a bit. Instead of relying on coagulated sludge for support, you now have two lissome human legs. You take the opportunity to lean on each one to test their stability. Your overall form has become remarkably cohesive as well, your skin is smooth and supple instead of slimy and sticky. You give yourself a soft pinch, watching as your skin indents briefly before returning back to how it was, almost like elastic. "Strange..." you murmur to yourself. You move your hands upward, briefly stopping over two odd bumps that have settled on your chest before inspecting the top of your head. Your fingers comb through a plethora of thin strands that feel reminiscent of the odd fur on a human's head. You've grown the slime equivalent of hair, and it seems like you've inherited the thief's bobbed haircut. Finally you take a moment to notice how much taller you are. You've gained mass! You are now around the size of an older teenaged or young adult female human.

"Huh, this is... definitely new," you idly comment. You pick yourself up, dust yourself off then take a glance over to the human, his jaw slack and eyes bulging. "What's got you so bothered, tenderfoot?" You cross your arms and arch a brow at him.

"Y-Y-YOU ATE HER!"

What do you do?
>>
>>4415983
We aren't going to eat him. We eat the demon king than rule the world!

Pretend to take the moral high ground or something.
As I may have said before I believe we should cut down the consumption part since if we get too big it's gonna become a problem. I say we keep our current size and focus on yoinking abilities instead.
OP is there any way to lose mass without losing the abilites we got?
>>4415988

Wait, is this not normal? Anyway she was just gonna kill you and leave you for dead so I don't see the problem?"
>>
>>4415983
Not gonna lie, this was actually pretty uncomfortable for me to write
>>4415986
At a certain point, your mass becomes too large to effectively sustain without constant consumption. You'll know when that becomes a problem. Also, you can still shrink down to mini slime mode due to ~*magic*~ or whatever
>>4415991
Yeah you're definitely smarter now, in case I didn't make that clear enough
>>
>>4415998
This begs the question, is our not so smol anymore slime now aware why someone would find that horrifying? Or is she in the process of logicing it out? Or would it just not occur to her even with the thieves cognitive capacity?

Further: I apologize that we have made you uncomfortable doing what slimes do. Given the context presented with the initial fairy we passed up and melting the ice fairy, I think a lot of us made assumptions about the kind of things we would be getting up to. If we're approaching a moral apotheosis of understanding life and death and the cost/concern beyond the rules of nature (or rules of the unnatural considering we're a slime) this may be a good time to come with such a realization.

Besides, the tree told us we and this kid gotta defeat the demon king. Even if he's scared with us he's stuck with us.
>>
>>4416007
Ah well you know, I knew what I was getting into by around the time we ate the fairy. Just processing the ramifications is all, I'm fine.

I am actually kinda surprised you guys were down with the constant, uh, consumption, though. /tg/ and by extension, I assume, /qst/ have always been somewhat 'chaotic good' (please forgive me) in their approach to player characters in quests, so it feels a bit odd for everyone to be on board for such an ethically alien character.

Oh, and in regard for your first set of questions; I guess we'll have to find out, won't we?
>>

>>4415985
>Sooo, it's what i do & you better get used to it if we're gonna take out this "demon king" sheesh anyways if we're gonna stick together what are your skills, do you know any magic?

>>
>>4415985
>"Y-Y-YOU ATE HER!"
Yes. She was dangerous. She's not like a bear you can scare away. She was spiteful, and would seek revenge. I could've handled it differently, but I was too dumb then. I'm smarter now.

>>4415986
>>4415990
The bigger the better as they saw. Perhaps there could be a way to store our excess mass. Like a lump of us would be made inert and go into hibernation until we need it, as to reduce the upkeep of maintaining it.
Until eating becomes an actual problem, it will be beneficial to continuously consume, for the sake of adapting different magic types and acquiring new knowledge. I mean just look at how fluently our blorb can talk now.

>>4415998
Personally I'm all for gore. Not trying to push you for more, only stating my preference. The quest is great btw.

"Yeah, I got rid of an enemy. We'll be doing a lot of that, so get used it." Your tone is measured and even as you graciously explain the obvious to him. "B-but—" "'Sides, I was just gonna kill you when I go—" you stop, close your eyes and find yourself, "She, she was just gonna kill you when she got out anyways. Trust me, she's killed before," you state flatly. His sobbing abates somewhat as he takes a large breath and tries to pull himself together, "O-ok, I kinda figured she wouldn't just go quietly, but... did you have to... CONSUME her like that?!" His tone returns to incredulity.
"Stop a threat, get a meal," you idly play around with a few strands of your new 'do, "Kills two birds with one stone." He looks at you tear streaked and wide eyed, "There were other ways you could have taken care of—" "Look, softfoot," you put your hands on your new hips, lean over and leer at him. "You asked me to take care of her and I did, would you have preferred me to spear her heart with ice, set her on fire, strangle her to death?" "I-I don't know!" he shouts.

"Moreover," you gesture up and down your new form, "by 'consuming' her I'm able to be a lot more useful in helping you take down this 'demon king'" He goes quiet at this before averting his eyes, a flush staining his cheeks. "What?" you say, genuinely confused by his reaction. "It's just... you look a lot like her now... aren't you... cold?" You snort derisively, "No, I'm a slime! Why would I be cold[?/i]" "Just... I think you should put on some clothes..." He says, continuing to avert his gaze. "Not happening. That does remind me though," You stride over to the thief's abandoned armor and sword and bring them over to him, "These are for you. Aren't I nice? Something to protect yourself with," you drop them at his feet. "Oh god..." he lets out a little sob

Agreeing on the sentiment to tone back the dick levels. We just went from unaware to really self assured and aggressive, I think out meal’s personality is overshadowing us a bit...

Apologize that our meal’s personality is a bit overbearing, hope that given a minute it’ll even out on its own. Consider maybe we may need to eat someone nicer to balance it out? Consider that someone nicer wouldn’t Likely be a threat and maybe that might also just compound the situation.

Sit down in a huff. We may need to consider killing things before we eat them if we want to keep a semblance or concept of our current self.

...anons, that was a joke and not a serious vote. Oh no, either I’ve killed our emotionally frail and otherwise useless charge or we’re smart enough not to do something that foolish now and defang/milk the venom, and cook the snake first.

Which begs the question, are we just babysitting and horrifying this kid for the rest of the quest? Which could be hilarious.
>>

Hey, flavourtown is very serious business. Its all about the seasoning.

I mean, if we are gonna babysit him, then we might as well traumatise the bastard into becoming a true jaded veteran.

Or stuff them with snakes/general wildlife and consume the lot like a turducken.

We take on the task of making him stronger by dragging him through the wilderness and stuffing him with anything we can find or field dress into being edible for him. You stare at him as he lets go of your hand and sits himself back on the ground cross-legged. You decide to follow suit. Awkward silence fills the air as it's obvious he wants to say something but isn't quite sure how to phrase it.

"...I'm sorry... and thank you." He glances over to you briefly before going back to averting his eyes, "Well, y-you did save my life. It's the least I could do, ha," he lets out a nervous laugh. "...Are you not looking at me because you're afraid of me?" You ask. "No! W-well, ok, that's a lie, I'm absolutely terrified of you but, uh... that's... uh, not the reason..." He falters. "...Is it because of my stunning beauty?" You offer. He does a spit take before turning bright red, "J-j-just please... would you consider maybe wearing something? I'll even offer my jacket if you want..." You hold up a hand as he begins to remove said jacket. "How about I just do this instead?" You say as you shrink away, shapeshifting back into your slime droplet form. "This better?" You ask.

He turns to look at you for the first time and gives you a nod, his face turning serious, "I need to ask something of you. I understand that we're going to have to fight many things before we reach the Demon King. I also understand that we'll probably have to kill many of them as well," he pauses, takes a breath, then stares through you, eyes filled with resolve, "I don't want you to eat another human like that ever again."

What do you do?

I understand why you wouldn't want to see that. I have a reason to not want to eat another human alive, because this was the first human I've eaten and its left a big impression in my head. Though Consuming is my biggest weapon, and if I have to use it to save us I will.

Also, the Demon King though not likely a human will still be a person. And I signed up explicitly because in my then naive and small world view when you asked me, I associated defeating with eating.

We can't make that promise. If we do, we will likely have our hand forced to break that promise. Well, not if we mean it anyway.

Though the wording at least gives wiggle room. We may just have to be a refined slime, and eat our prey with utensils.

>>
That's an interesting stipulation, considering we have obtained ice magic (& maybe fire too? The imp might have been an enemy, but could it have been sentient?) with no ill effects my opinion is starting to sway towards a diplomatic variant of 'Get fucked.'

Do we want to get roped into such restrictions Anons? I understand the necessity to not chew everything we meet, but wasting perfectly good opportunities for someone we hardly know seems illogical.
>>
>>4417715
illogical yes but the magic talking tree has foreseen the future so we gotta suck it up. Plus we can always consume evil guys and the demon king when we get to him. Also yeah we got a fireball spell from the Imp.
>>
>>4417731
I'm under the impression after what QM said, he's referring to anything sentient. Aka that may also include evil guys. But so far I still agree with the general consensus of most votes so far "no promises but I'll try" for now at least.

You hold that stare with him for awhile before answering, "Do you see me as I am?" He tilts his head to the side, a puzzled look on his face. "A... slime?" He replies. "Yes, a slime. Deaf. Dumb. Blind to all things save one: hunger. Hunger is what drives a slime, what defines it. Through its pangs, I labored and was rewarded. With sight, reason... self." He looks at you intently, "What I did revolts you. That I can understand, but know that pursuing hunger was, until now, all I could understand." "Ok, but... you know better now, right? You know why I want you to stop." His voice takes on an urging tone. "And that I know, only because of what I ate," you reply, "how much more could I come to know, if I continued to follow my hunger? How much would I lose, if I didn't?" "You're not going to know anything but a swift death if you keep... eating people... so just stop!" His tone rises with anger. "Consuming this human has lead to complications. I'll agree to forgo the consumption of humans and the like until these complications are solved." He rolls his eyes, "Oh that is just so reassuring. You'll hold off on being a monster until you feel it's more convenient." "If I'm threatened, I'm going to do whatever I can to protect myself. That includes consumption if necessary," you state simply. He just crosses his arms and scowls.

"Now, speaking of things I wanna know, tell me more about this 'other world' you claim to come from." You point a tendril at him for emphasis. "*Tch*— why not just eat me and find out, huh?" "Because I want to keep you alive. I owe you for helping me earlier and you haven't been a threat to me yet." He just sighs and scratches his head in irritation, "Whatever. I come from a world that's more technologically advanced than this one. I got killed in an accident and was reincarnated here under the condition that I kill the Demon King." "You're obviously leaving out some details," you reply. "Yeah? So? You gonna eat me for them?"

Remember words he's used. Seek context. His track suit, we have context for those words but what do they mean, how does his clothing that we're now sitting on differ from the concepts of clothing we are familiar with through Eliza's memory. Technology means tools, blacksmithing, looms, locks, and weapons. In what ways does this track suit defy our understanding?

Consider. Better tools, more resources, he denoted it as an outfit of comfort over function. Does he come from a world with less or differing hardship. He was horrified with our consumption, he comes from a place divorced from the commonality of death. We ate a thief and brigand who is probably no stranger to suffering. He is soft.

"You should probably arm yourself," point at the sword and armor, "lets get to the village and figure things out from there, I have my doubts you'd be able to survive a night in the wilderness,"

And adding:

"Even if you won't tell me the details, you're here for one singular purpose. To kill the Demon Lord, the debt and reason you even exist here. If you had your blade to their neck, how would you justify and claim the right to slay them? Despite what's been told, do you truly know what drove them to this?

Tatsuo would that even stop you? Would you so readily give it all up and break that deal? If I were asking you to spare the Demon King's life, right now, would you?

There is another reason I have not eaten you. Potential. You are a predator just like me, or you will be. The path to the Demon King is going to be steeped in death. If not of yourself, then others. Tatsuo, hesitation often leads to the deaths of many who don't deserve it. This isn't me asking for any sort of forgiveness. Just... think about these questions. "

Leave me to my reasoning to agree to your request within the bounds of necessity, and don't apply your self-righteousness to what I was or who I am now having inherited that woman's pragmatism and instinct," You state, slightly indignantly. "Self-righteous? It's self-righteous to want you to stop eating people?" He lets a long, labored sigh, "Ok, fine, whatever. You're not human and I can see that we clearly hold differing views on the value of sapient life. Let's just... drop it and focus on finding more information on the Demon King," he states defeated. "fair enough," you reply.

He's changed the topic from his place of origin back to the task at hand. You suppose that’s progress from petty moralizing. You idly take to observing him. He mentioned he was from a world that was more 'technologically advanced' than this one. You don't believe he's lying, having felt the material of the 'track suit' he's been wearing. The interlinking fibers comprising it are far too fine for any seamstress of this world to have weaved. The Birchtwee mentioned he was an ‘outlander’ as well, and you begin to wonder what just kind of 'land' it was. You scrutinize him further. His skin is pale and soft for a male, and while quite thin he has little muscle definition. ‘Was he a nobleman?’ You wonder. He doesn’t really have the air of one, but he lacks the characteristics of common blood as well. One thing’s certain: he’s weak.

“Let’s head into town now,” you say as you slide yourself into his tracksuit’s pocket. “What are you doing?” He asks. “You’re going to draw a lot of attention just based on appearance alone, you don’t want a ‘monster’ visible on your person to compound that. Oh, and make sure to collect that armor and sword I was—she was wielding. She likely had a bounty on her head and we need the gold.” He gives you a skeptical look at your slip into first person, but he doesn’t say anything as he leads the two of you to Barton’s front gate.

Barton is a small lumber community established during the reign of his majesty Erwin VII around four or so decades ago. Like most, the arrival of the Demon King has had an adverse effect on the local economy, but owing to its remote location, things are still relatively peaceful in the region. The two of you head through the front gate and find yourself milling about the town square. “Should we find an inn or something? That tree wasn’t all that specific on what we should do…”

What do you do?

"We need money before we can do anything," you assert. You tap into the thief girl's memories, hoping you'll be able to learn the layout of the town. "...Down that road lies the constable's office. That's our best bet for funds at the moment." "Oookay, um... I get that we need to communicate, but do you have to be so close?" You've positioned yourself flat on his shoulder, underneath the fabric of his jacket to conceal yourself. "You should be happy you're sharing such an intimate space with a lady," you chide, "Are you not a man?" "Ugh, you're clammy..." He whimpers. "Quiet. Remember: you've just slayed a vicious killer. You need to at least seem formidable." He grips the thief's sword tightly, "...Right." The two of you head inside the office.

The constable's office is rather cramped. There's a small foyer with a few seats for clientele as well as an area in the back where three iron cells lie empty. A middle aged man sits at his desk, a curious look on his face as Tatsuo steps in, "Need somethin'?" he asks. "Uh, yes. I'd like to collect a bounty, if possible?" Tatsuo replies stiffly. "On who?" The warden replies nonchalantly. "Umm, uh... I think her name was... Eliza?" "Provide proof of claims, please," his tone is skeptical. "Give him the sword," you whisper. Tatsuo wordlessly hands the blade over to the warden. A few seconds pass as the man rests his hands on the sword, eyes closed. "So... Lizzie Heart-Taker finally bit the dust, huh?" He says, opening his eyes. "How'd you get her anyways? Sword only shows me so much." "Fireball. You bought a scroll from a merchant," you continue to whisper guidance. "I...I summoned a fireball from a scroll I bought from a merchant," Tatsuo manages to eke out. "Hmm... sword wrappings are a bit singed... Alright," he hands the sword back to Tatsuo, "She was worth about 1,200 gold pieces dead so..." He reaches underneath his desk before plopping a brown bag on the counter, "Here ya go. Thanks for your service to our community." Tatsuo grabs the bag, gives an awkward smile and leaves without saying anything.

"Alright, we've got the money, soo... What now?" He asks. You just sigh inwardly, "How have you survived so long with such... passivity? Do you have no sense of agency?" "Ok ok, how about we... find an inn, maybe ask around or something?" "Hmm... go back to the square and into the largest building," you reply casually. He wordlessly follows your orders and the two of you find yourselves in the bustling 'Black Cat' inn. "I'm kinda hungry, do you want anything?" He asks. "Meat," you reply ravenously. He heads up to the bar wench and asks for a meal. "That'll be ten gold pieces, sir," she replies. He pays her the gold, then sets out to find the two of you adequate seating. The main hall is packed with townspeople, but he manages to find an empty booth tucked away in the back. "Man it's crowded in here... Hope we get our food soon..." He states, clearly on edge. "Maeda." You state. "Uh, yes?" "I'm going to say this as politely as I can. Why were you chosen to defeat this 'demon king'?" "Umm... I don't..." "Because frankly speaking, you don't seem well enough equipped to handle such a task. You claim to have reincarnated from another world, yes?" "Yes." He states a little hurt sounding. "Why were you chosen then? I'm assuming that even on your world there were those with more combat experience, however meager." "I'm... aware I'm not what you'd expect for a 'summoned hero'," he states dejectedly. "Then why you? Do you have any special talents or abilities that would be useful for such a task?" "I was told that I'd be provided with what I needed along the way..." You sigh in irritation, "So basically you're just dead weight, aren't you?" He frowns at that but doesn't reply. 'Wonderful,' you think to yourself.

The two of you wait for your meal without speaking any further. You idly begin listening to the ambient chatter and clatter all around you as you make plans for your next move. "You hear about the old saw mill?" you hear a man state a booth down. "Oh yeah, nasty business that. The guards ever figure what happened there?" "A... Fell Beast?" He sounds concerned. "I'm not certain what it is either, but I know what it sounds like..." You pause dramatically, "Opportunity. I told you I'd defeat this 'demon king', even if fate conspires me to drag your carcass along to do the job," he just lets out a tired groan at this jab, "and who knows? Before long maybe you'll be as big a hero as I'm gonna help pump you up to being," you say with enthusiasm. "You'll meal, sir," a waitress places a plate of beef and potatoes on the table. Making sure no one's watching you deftly snatch the silverware and daintily partition for yourself a hefty chunk of the meat, before greedily wrapping a tendril around it and retracting it into your caustic form.

"So... what's a NEET?" He starts choking on his food before downing a nearby glass of water, "Hah... I told you I was a NEET?" He says exasperated. "Mmhm," you savor the feeling of the meat dissolving inside you. His face turns red, "Um... It means... not in education, employed, or... training..." He mumbles into his glass. You'd sputter if you had lips, "Haha! I'm starting to believe this is a roundabout way of punishing you for living a sinful life!" "I'm starting to believe that too..." He says, face still red. "All the more reason to assist me in making this as easy as possible for the both of us then," you continue, "you say you were told that you'd be provided with what you needed... were you told anything else I should know?" "Hmm... Ankou said I'd be able to progress like in an RPG if I made a serious effort to defeat the Demon King." "Who and what?" You reply. "Oh, um, Ankou is like the grim reaper, or at least he looks like it..." "A god of death and rebirth?" You offer. "He said he was a servant of death, so... maybe?" He replies sheepishly. "Uh-huh, and this... Arpeejee?" "Um... they're a type of game we play back in my world. You control a character and you get stronger when you defeat things like monsters and the like," he takes another sip of water, "usually through experience points or through special ge—" "OK, great!" You interject, "you'll get stronger the more you defeat things! That we can work with! Now hush, I'm trying to eavesdrop," you listen intently to the conversation going on a booth over...

"Someone oughta do somethin'," you hear the first man say. "Who's gonna risk gettin' they're 'ead beet off by some bleedin' fell beast?" the second man replies before taking a swig from his beer stein. "let the guards do what we pay 'em for an leave well enough alone, Flynn." "...Aye," his friend replies.

Need a short term crash pad, some camping gear, and traveling gear for our boy here.
>Go train Tatsuo up to snuff on lighter fare
We save his ass if we find a random encounter above his ability. Then, we eat his kills save for the pelts so he can sell those in town. This helps build him up as a local monster hunter. And takes time to get him acclimated to the region.

The Fell Beast shall be a delicious reward once it becomes to big to ignore or build up too.

Also, when we eat some of his kills once or twice we need to resume our humanoid form and do so a bit teasingly.

"Hmm... sounds like this 'fell beast' might be more trouble than it's worth at this stage," you think aloud, "Let's leave it aside for now and focus on things even you should be able to tackle." "You mean like starter enemies?" Tatsuo offers. "Yeah! Something weak for you to kill and for me to chow down on. Everybody wins." "That sounds fine to me," he gives a little smile, "so long as it's just a monster you're eating." "Of course. You humans don't taste that great anyways," his smile turns into a grimace. "Anyways, finish your meal and let's start spending some of that gold."

The next few hours are spent traveling to the various merchants and stores available in town to stock up on the necessary provisions, namely camping gear, healing potions and remedies for common ailments, as well as some decent protection for Tatsuo in the form of leather armor and a light, wooden shield. You also take the opportunity to rent out a room in the inn for the foreseeable future. 50 gold a night isn't cheap, but hopefully that will provide enough incentive for Tatsuo to take this 'adventuring' gig seriously. Finished with the preparations, the two of you rest overnight at the inn, then set off the next day into the forest.

"Ah, finally free to stretch my limbs," twisting your arms out to comical degrees for emphasis. Tatsuo has that odd blush he always has when you're in human form, but at least he can now manage to look you in the face when you speak to him. "So why are we here again?" He asks. "Potion seller said she needed some 'venomous skink' tails and this is the dungeon she said we'd find 'em in, so... let's hop to it shall we?" You say with a cheery grin as you push him into the mouth of the cave. "Geez... Why 'venomous'?" He whines as he brandishes his sword and a torch. "No complaining, time for training. Oh, look! There's one right there!" A large, bright green and purple lizard rears its head up as it observes the two of you approaching. "Go for it, tenderfoot!" You cheer from the sideline.

>Ok. You've got plenty of healing items. Just go in and rush it while its guard is down.

Say. Do we have enough to buy a pre-made suit of full plate armor? Something that's already been made? I'd figure already made sets would be, "relatively" cheaper than buying custom made sets. Because full plate suits of armor typically has to be custom tailored to each individual. Typically. Then again this is a fantasy setting so who knows.

The skink focuses entirely on the torchlight, and it grows increasingly agitated as Tatsuo approaches. Eventually, it's had enough; it extends its neck out and belches up a glob of poison to snuff out the flame. Having anticipated this, Tatsuo easily evades the toxic projectile and thrusts his blade upwards, aiming for the underside of the lizard's neck while it's exposed. Success! His sword plunges through the soft, vulnerable scales of the skink's throat and pierces its way out the other side. Blood spurts from the wound as the lizard lets out a gurgling screech before falling over and succumbing to its wound. The 'venomous skink' is defeated!

Tatsuo draws the blade from the carcass and lets out a labored breath, "Hah, well I don't feel any strong— Woah!" He's suddenly swathed in a bright aura of green energy that's flowing from the wound of the fallen skink. The aura begins to coalesce, wreathing Tatsuo in a subtle gleam. "I think I feel... faster!" He states with excitement. He gives a few experimental swings with his sword. It's subtle, but you can tell his movement is more efficient. "This is AWESOME!" He continues to swing his sword with glee. "Well color me surprised, softstep," you sidle up next to him and smile, "looks like you've got some fight in you after all, but let's not forget the tail now." "Right," he says as he slices where the potion seller indicated and places the tail in his rucksack. "I guess you'll take it from here, right?" "Mhmm," you answer as you envelop the lizard whole.

EVEN MORE HELLISH TRAINING. When we're done chaperoning him for the first few have him start farming skinks on his own then do directly stat based training. Strength by lifting things and push ups, agility by running and handstands, and maybe dex somehow? Hold off on sword training and stuff like that because we don't know much about it (unless thief memories?) try to reach him magic at night or when he's done with the regular training. It looks like he can level or learn any skills he uses or tries to use, so let's see what his limits for that are
Let's wear the armor we got from the thief. It's female armor so it wouldn't fit Tatsuo anyway. Plus he's about to bulk

The lizard is quickly melted into slurry by your acrid interior. Mass increased! 'Hmm, growing too much larger than where I'm at now might be troublesome. What to do... Wait I have an idea.' Your body loses some of its opacity as you struggle to contain the increased mass from the lizard, your pale blue color begins to darken in intensity. 'Still some mass left over though, where to put it?' You give it some more thought, 'wait, I got it!' You finish consuming the skink and resume your humanoid form.

"So can you spit poison now or whatev—" Tatsuo immediately clams up and wears a stunned expression as you turn to face him. "I think so..." You reply as you stretch out your arm. A stream of miasma bursts out of the palm of your hand and lands on a small rock formation, liquifying it. New technique acquired! Rot Shot.

"What do you think?" You ask with a grin. "It's um... really cool... yeah... um... I see you've... modified your... appearance," he states, red faced and staring just below your neck. "Oh yeah! I don't really want this form to become too much larger, so I had to come up with a creative way to store the excess mass," You say as you cup the now larger protuberances on your chest, "Pretty clever, right?" He looks into your eyes with an uncharacteristically serious expression, before giving you an intense thumbs up, "I wholeheartedly approve of this decision," he says as blood spurts from his nostrils. "What is wrong with you?" You state in genuine bewilderment. "At any rate, this is at best a temporary solution. I'll have to think up a way to gain new abilities without increasing my size to unmanageable levels..." You ponder as you uncup your new mass, "Anyways, we still have some tails to collect so let's get a move on!" You shout.

What do you do?
>>
>>4421101
Work on collecting more Skink tails with Tatsuo, maybe focus the next meal on our internal density instead of expanding mass? Then bring them to town and turn in for the reward. Continue being supportive of Tatsuo's efforts because teamwork makes the dream work!

Contemplate our instincts, is severing or segmenting our excess mass how we reproduce as a species? Let's not do that right now, another mindless glob zipping around might not be good for our long term survival. Wait, would it be mindless like I was or would I be splitting my current mind up? Or copying it? EXISTENTIAL CRISIS LETS NOT DO THAT.

Wonder, briefly, what it would be like to be able to eat so much meat we got to just happily exist as a slime the size of a castle. No worrying about predators and safety and the little things in our way.

But turn into a slime version of the lizard and have Softfoot ride our back. This way we get to keep our mass, and this will further improve his notoriety by claiming to have tamed a rare skink (if we can make yourself look more opaic) or a rare slime skink. Either one works.

"Ok, let's do it!" He replies eagerly. 'He's in good spirits,' you think to yourself. As the two of you venture deeper into the cavern you ponder on how to grow stronger while managing the excess mass. 'If I grow too much, would I need to partition myself? I doubt I can just keep doing this indefinitely..." You notice Tatsuo peeking glances at your chest every so often when he thinks you don't notice. "What?" You say when it gets particularly egregious. "N-n-nothing! Just, uh..." He turns his attention forward and avoids eye contact. 'What an odd reaction,' you think to yourself, 'It's not like I've got anything unusual for a female human to have hanging here...' Your thoughts return on just what to do with the excess mass. 'Would it just... slough off if I gained too much? Seems logical, I wonder if that's how my kind reproduces? What would be the result though, would it be a mindless glob, would it split my mind in two, would it produce a copy? Hmm... let's try not to find out..." As the two of you travel further you idly daydream of becoming large enough to no longer have to worry about any kind of predation. 'Mmm... I could crush all who would seek to harm me...' "Hey, there's another skink here!" Tatsuo's shout knocks you from your reverie.

How do you direct him?

Just like last time, Tatsuo leads the lizard towards him and baits out an attack out with the torch. As he dodges a globule of poison, he again takes a stab at the skink's neck. However, it seems his slightly increased speed throws his timing off somewhat as he thrusts too early. Instead of gouging through it's throat, he carves a nasty gash across the lizard's face. It lets out a pained hiss and begins thrashing about in a rage, blood leaking vigorously from its wound.

"Hurry and finish it while it's thrashing about before it alerts another!" You whisper through clenched teeth. Tatsuo grunts in affirmation, tightens his grip and savagely slashes his blade clean through the the lizard's flailing neck. Blood spurts out from the skink's neck stump as through a spigot while its head rolls about on the the ground, eyes dead and mouth open with its tongue lolled out.

The same green energy flows from the bleeding stump and washes over Tatsuo. In a flash he's wrapped in that subtle gleam again. "Yeah... yeah, I'm definitely feeling it again," he states in mute amazement. He attempts a step back to get proper footing only to almost trip in surprise from the increased speed from the movement of his feet. Tatsuo's evasion has increased!

"I'm impressed, you're making great progress," You give him an encouraging smile. He smiles back at you before slicing off the tail of the skink. "He's all yours now," is he sounding a bit cocky? At any rate, you swallow the rest of the skink whole and add its mass to yours, choosing this time to focus solely on increasing your internal density. Your skin become more opaque as you finish the absorption. Your mass has increased!

After reforming yourself, you notice your body is coated in an odd sheen. Alarmed, you attempt to rid yourself of it. It seeps into your skin, leaving no trace it was ever there. Now curious, you attempt to recall it. It flows out through your pores and coats you once more. "Hmm, wonder what this is..." You say as you place your hand on the wall next to Tatsuo. Instantly you hear a sizzling sound and you pull your hand away, leaving a bubbling impression on the cavern wall. New technique acquired! Corroding Touch.

"We're gonna be unstoppable in no time like this!" Tatsuo beams. You hear the sound of more hissing further up ahead. "C'mon, I wanna get even faster!" He starts to pull ahead.

>Let him go on ahead. He's getting into the groove of things now.

> Let him go ahead but stay close
Let's just let him do his thing XP farming, we can always jump if needed
> Put on the thief's armor and try to replicate her appearance as best as possible while changing the face
We need to create a human persona for ourselves so we can travel in public and talk to people
Can we store items within ourself? For example if we wanted to store the armor when not in human form or the skink tails
>>
>>4422540
Yes actually, but the XP gain would be at a lower rate than fighting monsters. Might help him upgrade his social skills ala Persona as well
>>4422546
Actually with the absorption of the skink you now can since you have better control over your acidic interior. Changing your face would be difficult though. You can kind of warp the features around a bit, but you'd likely end up looking disfigured and the change wouldn't be permanent. You'd have to eat another human to truly gain a new face.

You grab his arm and pull him back, "My aren't we eager? Let's not be too hasty, you're still tripping over your own feet." "Yeah ok, you're probably right," he replies as he scratches the back of his neck. The two of you continue through the cavern for a good while without coming across any more skinks. You walk in relative silence as you start to examine your surroundings. It's damp and dark with only Tatsuo's torch and the occasional 'glow cap shroom' providing any source of light. The entrance to the cave is above ground, but you remember the potion seller saying it leads down down quite a ways to a subterranean lake, where one can find several rare species of fish valuable to an alchemist.

The two of you suddenly stumble upon a wall of rock blocking any further travel. "...Looks like we hit a dead end," Tatsuo comments, "guess we should head back and find another—EEP!!" He jumps back as he narrowly dodges some kind of stringy tentacle from striking him in the face. The tendril quickly snaps back as you follow its path. Behind you, blocking the exit is a large thin, humanoid figure. It's scale-covered eyes spin around independently of each other, before settling there attention on you. It licks it's lips, rears back and gathers what looks like electricity at the tip of its bony horn, Its skin changing to a sickly greenish-yellow as it charges its attack...

In a flash you fire off a salvo of frozen spears at the creature, aiming to immobilize it before it can do any harm. Before it can even register your attack, one lance shunts itself into its open mouth and quickly encases its entire head in ice. Two more bury themselves into its flanks, freezing the chameleon solid from the waist down. What follows is a comical display as the overgrown lizard mutely paws at its ice encased head, face frozen in what you consider to be a smug expression, before frantically attempting to free itself by bashing its head against a rocky outcropping before it asphyxiates. Unfortunately, due to the state of its lower body, it remains just out of range of anything solid enough to break the ice, leaving it only able to shimmy about fruitlessly as it hastens its own demise.

"...You really like ice, don't you?" Tatsuo remarks not taking his eyes off the spectacle. "Hasn't failed me yet," you reply, smacking your lips in anticipation of your meal. You stride on up to the flailing lizard and leisurely engulf it whole.

This thing is rather large, you aren't able to just contain it to your interior... Mass increased! Your form has grown quite curvaceous! Mass overflow! Depositing excess mass! You feel a large bulge fill out along your spine and promptly slough itself off as you return to humanoid form. Static electricity crackles along your arm as you let loose a jagged arc of lightning. Magic skill acquired! Charge Bolt. You've also gained resistance to electrical attacks! You check over your form once more and notice an odd coloration at the tip of your fingers, yellowish-green. The color quickly races down your arms and threatens to dye you a sickly hue before you will it to stop. It dissipates, returning your arms to their normal, cobalt coloration. Curious, you try to summon the color again, only this time your arms are dyed a bright, ruby red! New technique acquired! Chromatic conversion. 'This will need further testing...' You think to yourself.

"Aww man... I was hoping I'd get at least someth—WOAH!!" Tatsuo's eyes suddenly shine a bright green as that strange aura overtakes him. His form is concealed in a churning column of supernatural fire, before it shrinks into him, bathing him in that halo of gleam. He comes out looking... stronger. His leather armor is more form fitting, less bulky on frame. Tatsuo's constitution has increased! His stamina has increased! His might has increased! His resistance has increased! His speed has increased! "AALRIIIIIGHT!!!" He pumps a fist into the air, "I'm gonna bury the next thing that looks at me funny!" He glances over to you and blanches, "Uh... present company excluded of course..." You just sigh and place your hands on your newly expanded hips. "Well, looks like you don't have to actually fight to benefit," you place a finger to your bottom lip and look up in thought, "we should test how that works for posterity," you look back down, "literally... I'm 'with child' after all." "Wait, what?!" Tatsuo looks down at your feet, where a 'larger than average' sized blob mills about. You pick it up and cradle it in your arms. New ally acquired! Blue slime.

"I honestly have no idea if this is just excess mass that is now a slime or if I genuinely reproduced," you say as you continue cradling the slime, squishing it against your chest. Tatsuo just stares at the new slime, a disturbed expression on his face. He then looks up to you, a trickle of blood flowing from his left nostril, "Uh... is there a functional difference?" "Could be," you reply, "if this is my 'daughter', then it stands to reason that it may have inherited some of my abilities," you gently set the slime down but continue to scrutinize it, "it might even grow into a copy of myself with time. Who knows?" Tatsuo just glances away while scratching the back of his head, a concerned expression on his face.

'So this is the result of overeating, huh?' You think to yourself. You immediately fire off an ice lance followed by a fireball at the spot where you ate the chameleon. "Whoa, hey! What's with the wanton destruction?" Cries Tatsuo. "Quiet. I'm doing some testing." You scold. 'Seems like I still have my old abilities, and I don't sense any loss in mental acuity...' You notice the slime is lurching its way toward the spot you razed with your magic. "Hmm..." You quirk a brow then raise your arm in Tatsuo's direction. "Whoa, hey, hold on!" The slime slowly follows suit. 'Interesting, although it'll just get in the way of my magic if it continues that. Hmm... maybe a mental command could work...' You again raise your arm outwards toward the exit, begin charging a fireball, and as the slime inches its way forward you command it to *STOP*. It immediately comes to a halt. Intrigued, you try out more commands: *Go left* *Go right* *Go forward.* It follows them all perfectly. Soon you find yourself forgoing mental commands entirely, choosing instead to mentally picture where you want your slime to go and directing it. New passive ability acquired! Slime Queen.

"Hey, looks like you can control the lil' guy!" Tatsuo pipes up. "How 'bout we give 'em a name?" "Hmm..." You're unsure. "Uh, actually, while we're on the subject, it's getting a little... awkward... just referring to you as 'Ms. Slime'," he says, rubbing his chin, "...don't you think?" "I think it shows the proper amount of deference one in your position should have towards me, but..." You look down at your 'daughter', "I recognize some measure of differentiation might be beneficial..." You shrug your shoulders. "Ok, well... if we're being democratic about, how 'bout 'Slimy'?" He offers. "That's taken. Come up with something else." "What's taken?" "Come up with something else!" you repeat. "Alright, geez! Uh... how about... Liz, or Lisa or somethi—" "NO." You reply with a glare. "Wow, ok... we're being very agreeable about this, aren't we? Hmm how about..." He trails off in thought.

"...Gelle," you state simply. He looks back over to you, "Gelle, huh? Well, it fits your whole... theme pretty well, admittedly. Ok! From now on I'll call you, 'Gelle'!" He gives you a grin and a thumbs up. You just nod in return. "Now let's do one for the little guy," he says. "...Blobimus." "Blobimus?" "Blobimus." Blobimus jiggles in response, which you take to mean it cares little for this conversation and would like to be fed.

Deciding to save further experimentation with 'blobimus' for later, you shift your focus to your new ability to change color. You hold up a translucent, blue arm and attempt to make a change. A vibrant orange color swirls into view in the center of your palm, then dyes your entire forearm the same hue. As it races to alter your entire arm, you will it to stop and it does so. Curious, you attempt a color change on your other arm. A jade coloration takes hold, and you stop it from spreading once it takes over your hand. You continue testing how many colors you can add, shifting their opacity and saturation, mixing colors together; you even manage to remove all color entirely, making yourself almost completely translucent save for a slight refraction of light through your form. 'This little ability is quite nifty..." You think to yourself.

"Hmm... I bet..." You work on something new. You envision in your mind the thief girl, Eliza, and attempt to mimic her complexion. A fair, slightly pinkish coloration begins forming at your extremities. You let it overtake your entire body. Next, you work on the details, adding subtle changes where applicable: a flush here, a bit of tanning there, until it looks exactly like a normal human's skin tone. That done, you tug on a stand of your flesh colored 'hair' and set to work changing that next. A dark chestnut brown forms at the roots, before spreading all the way through until you're a bona fide brunette. You then add a slight gloss to the texture to really make it pop. 'Eliza really was a vain girl,' you think to yourself, '...but I suppose I'm really no better.' Finished with that, you set to work on your face. You fill out your eyelashes and eyebrows, get your teeth nice and white, make sure that when you open your mouth, it's red people will see, not blue. You then finish off by dying your eyes the same piercing violet hers were. You turn around and face Tatsuo. "Well, what do you think?"

His face goes redder than a tomato yet he can't stop staring. "Y-you look just like her! The only difference is that you're a lot more, um..." he draws an hourglass figure in the air, "...Like that..." he then glances away, holding a hand over his nose. "Y-you sure you want to go around looking like that? I mean... she was well known enough to have a bounty on her head..." he mumbles.

"I'm just doing a quality check; I intend to make a few alterations," you reassure. You then change the color of your skin to a paler white, you dye your eyes vermilion, then drain the color away from your hair entirely, leaving it the same cobalt blue it was before. You then retexture everything appropriately. As a finishing touch, you add a slight beauty mark just underneath your bottom lip, and, owing to the frost fairy, reshape your ears into a more pointed shape until their tips point out from under your hair. "There we are, I should be able to pass as a traveling 'ice elf' like this," you claim as you continue examining your body, making more minor adjustments.

Tatsuo sneaks a glance over, still clearly uncomfortable, "O-ok that's an improvement. Also, wow, I had no idea 'ice elves' were a thing..."

"I didn't either until recently thanks to Eliza," you remark.

"Ok, so now that you've got your disguise on, uh, don't you think you should wear some clothes now? I mean, people don't just go walking around nude!" He looks away in embarrassment.

"Do you still have her armor?" you ask. He digs through his rucksack and tosses the entire set at you. You attempt to put it on but are finding it to be a challenge. "Hmm... I'm a bit... larger now than she was. Looks like we'll have to make a trip to the tailor when we get back," you sigh as you return the armor to Tatsuo.

"Right, ok, so... how about you change back to normal so you can stop distracting me..." He pleads. Camouflage acquired! Ice Elf.

What do you do now?

Pretty much this too. I mean, let's prioritize what we're getting payed here to do, but after that let's check out the lake.

As a slime I know we're all about dissolving everything we eat, but what I want to know if we can change yourself to be less acidic and more basic. At the least I want to know if we are denser or lighter than water, because if we are we can just suck the fish plus some water into our form and act as an improvised fish container.

He let's out a defeated sigh, "Do you have to be so... "anatomically correct" then?"

"Can't help what I was given!" You reply with a wink, "At any rate, we should get back to business. Those skinks aren't gonna kill themselves," you lead the three of you out and find an alternate path you missed before. As you travel further down, you notice an increase in the level of 'vegetation' in the form of glow cap shrooms.

"Looks like we're getting closer to that lake," Tatsuo comments. You nod, remembering the potion seller told you to 'follow the glow caps.' You hear a hissing noise accompanied by the sound of tumbling rocks.

"Think you can handle this one on your own, light step?" You chide. He responds by drawing his sword and rushing the overgrown lizard.

Before it even has a chance to ready an attack, Tatsuo cleaves its head from its neck. Its remains slump down in a heap and he collects its tail. "All yours!" He flashes a grin as the green aura shimmers around him. You look down at Blobimus and order it to consume the body which it does with no hesitation. Blobimus acquired new techniques! Rot Shot and Corroding Touch.

"Hmm..." You wonder aloud as you focus your attention on Blobimus. You issue it an order to fire off a Rot Shot and it complies, melting away a nearby section of rock. 'Looks like I have a way to attack remotely now. Not bad!' You think as you pick the lizard's head up and dissolve it into yourself. Mass increased! You pause a moment to see if you learn anything new.

"Any changes?" Tatsuo asks as he sidles up to you.

"Not this time, no," you reply. "Did you get any stronger?"

"Eh, I think maybe a little bit, but it's pretty negligible," He responds as he wipes his sword clean. The three of you press forward to the end of the cave, killing any skink that crosses your path. By the time you're close to the lake, you've collected eleven skink tails. You continue forward until you pass through the entrance of a large chamber, the air here noticeably cooler than before and the ground absolutely covered in glow caps. Tatsuo lets out a low whistle.

"Man, look at the size of it! I can't even see where it ends!" You're forced to agree. The shore of the lake itself is vast, and the waters continue out further than the light of the shrooms can make out. "You wanna try fishing?" He asks.

As you suck in the water of the lake you take stock of the squirming bodies that occasionally interrupt the steady stream of liquid. You count four as they travel along your arms and are stored safely in a pocket of water inside your body. You lift your arms out of the lake and spray out all the excess water you drained.

"Did you get any?" Tatsuo looks hopeful.

"Mmhm, four of 'em," you poke a bit of the bodies of the captured fish outside your membrane of skin in order to show him.

"Wow, that's completely disgusting and I never want to see it again!" He says with a laugh as you squeeze the fish back into yourself. "Got any room for mo—" He's interrupted as a loud rumbling shakes the room. "WHAT'S GOING ON?!" He shouts.

"I DON'T KNOW!" You yell out a reply. You look back at the lake and notice a viciously churning whirlpool forming. Four slimy tentacles burst out from under the water and slam against the shore, just barely missing you as they reel themselves back into the brink. A fleshy, triangular shape flanked by a pair of rapidly undulating fins emerges from the center of the whirlpool briefly before sinking back down as the tentacles reemerge. Looks like you're fighting a giant cave squid!

You let loose a furious bolt of electricity aimed squarely into the squid's open mouth. Before your attack strikes true however, the squid 'blocks' it as best it can with one of its many tentacles. It lets loose a gurgling screech as the attack connects, releasing you from its grip and plunging you into the lake below. You try to gain your bearings while being tossed and turned under water by the thrashings of the giant creature, the dark, murky water flooding your senses only illuminates every few seconds by the occasional surge of electricity coursing through the loathsome thing. During one particularly bright surge you notice its colossal eye staring right at you, two tentacles bearing down upon you from above.

You flatten your arms out, form them into oars and actually propel yourself towards the creatures gaping maw. You then allow yourself to be swallowed whole. You wait patiently as you're transported through the creature's gullet and deposited into what you assume is its stomach. The irony of what's just happened to you and what you're now about to do is simply too much to bear. "Haha..." You let out a dry chuckle, "You can't just 'eat' me, you overgrown entree..." You spit as you lash your arms out and grip whatever you can take hold of. Coated with corrosive fluids you quickly get to work digesting this thing from the inside out. By this point, the squid must know something is wrong as you feel a rumbling sensation as it lets out an ear-splitting roar. "SHUT UP. SHUT UP. SHUT UP. You're going to become a part of me now forever, so just SHUT UP!!" You rasp out between clenched teeth as you already feel its flesh joining yours.

Slowly, so... tortuously slowly... it's mass finally melts and congeals into yours. "DIE. DIE. DIE. DIE. DIE. DIE." You hear yourself muttering as you crawl back onto shore. Your mass has increased substantially... "DIE. DIE. DIE..."

"GELLE!" A voice rings out in relief as a form rushes up to meet your crumpled form. "Gelle, thank god... I was so worried..." You shakily tilt your head up and meet his gaze.

"Boy... I... ate it... ha," you sputter.

"Gelle... y-you don't sound too hot. W-what happened to the squid?" He's beginning to panic.

"Ate it... ha... ha... ate... her... ha..." You rasp.

The boy doesn't say anything in response at first, he's too shaken, but he closes his eyes, breathes in and says, "Please... If I can do anything just tell me. What can I do for you?"

"What... you can do... for... me?"

"Yes... anything, please!" Tears are streaming down his face.

You shakily prop yourself up, your form convulsing into frantic spasms, "You... can..." You feel your mind being savagely torn in two as all goes white.

"Die."

Your eyes snap open and you hastily rise to your feet. 'What's happening, what's going on?" You think to yourself. You hear a childish giggle.

"Lookie lookie! She's finally awake!"

You crane your neck in the direction of that... familiar sounding voice.

"Dear 'sister', it's so... good to finally be able to speak with you in person!" You see a red person wearing your face. No... that's not quite right...

"Did you like the look I gave you?" She lets out another giggle, "What am I saying? I know you did! I know aaaall about you, after all!"

The blood red slime wearing the same face as you saunters on over, dragging Tatsuo with her across the ground.

You take a step back, "What do you want? What do you want from me, Eliza?"

She pauses at the mention of her name and makes a pouty face, "Aww... You already knew? I was hoping to surprise you..." Her grin returns in a flash, "I guess that's my baby sister for you, though! Sharp as knife!" She laughs at that last statement a little too long... "But to answer your question: what I want is..." Her face gets unnervingly close to yours, eyes wide, pupils shrunken, "... to 'thank' you..." She caresses your face with a hand and then kisses you tenderly on the mouth. You immediately sputter and leap back several feet.

"QUIT SCREWING WITH ME! I *KNOW* YOU JUST WANT REVENGE!" You scream as you point jab a finger towards her.

"No... no I truly don't," her voice loses that unhinged quality as she takes a long look down at herself before returning her gaze back to you, eyes filled with... affection? "You've given 'such' a [i/precious gift to me, dear sister," she lets go of Tatsuo and he plops to the ground as she begins to... fondle... herself. "I really... hah... must," she starts to moan shamelessly, "repay you...Hah!" She lets out a high-pitched whine as she... finishes.

"...Please," you hear a voice rasp, "...Gelle... please... help..."

"...Tatsuo," you reach down to him...

"And big sis knows just what you need..."

Right as your hand makes contact with his, Tatsuo is enveloped in ruby ichor.

"NO! STOP!! PLEASE!!!" You scream out as you attempt to dig through only for your fingers to burn from the corrosive film covering her skin.

"Sister, please! I'm only helping you. You've grown 'far' too sentimental," she says as if lightly scolding a child. The glob of slime at her feet continues to churn.

"TATSUO!! TATSUO!!!" You're ignoring the pain, now trying desperately to paw your way through to him.

"Aaaand... I think he's about done!" She says with a toothy grin as the glob is almost finished dissolving into her. She then lifts it off the ground, and promptly expels the unfinished digested meat. "Don't want that weakling in my system now, do we?" She giggles, "now what do we saaay?"

You're quaking with rage.

It's a pile of meat, and eating him is the only way for him to persist in any way without making a giant leap in logic to assume that some psychopomp we know next to nothing about will interfere to save him despite seeming to just be how the kid got here.
Eating him doesn't ensure his death at all.
Eliza being here ensures that spirits can live on within our body, and we could probably do a full res later down the line.
For now though, it doesn't make sense to grasp at straws when there's an enemy right in front of us.
Hell, you could even try the prayer afterwards, but if we act recklessly now we're just playing into the hands of the bitch who killed him in the first place.

You ignore Eliza, instead choosing to focus all your attention on doing anything you can to revive Tatsuo. "Potions..." You mumble to yourself as you frantically search the cavern for the satchel of provisions Tatsuo was carrying, "...Where are the potions!?"

"Oh, are you looking for this?" Eliza lifts up a leather rucksack and tosses it over to you, "I was keeping it safe for you!" She chirps.

You continue to ignore her as you tear through the bag picking out every healing item you can, then rush everything over to Tatsuo's remains. You stare down at... what little is left, and then pour out as many potions over him as you can.

"...Sister..."

"SHUT. UP." You snarl as you continue to pour out the stock of potions. "ANKOU!" You raise your head towards the heavens and shout, "Ankou, I know you hold dominion over death and rebirth. Let this boy live!" You choke back a sob, "Please... please don't take him away from me..." Ankou remains silent.

"...Sister. I didn't kill this boy merely to be 'cruel'. It was to illustrate a point. You were growing too reli—"

You fire off half a dozen fireballs at her approach. She sidesteps five of them before smacking the last one away with a tentacle extending out from her back, a gift from the giant squid.

"—Too reliant on him," she continues unabated, "he was making you weak, sister. Look how desperately you mewl over his leavings! I won't let you degrade yourse—"

"JUST SHUT. UP!" You scream as you launch an even larger volley of fire at her. She extends out more tentacles and simply swats them all away. "I don't care WHAT you think about me... All I want right now is for you to DIE!!" You launch one final fireball aimed square at her face using the last bit of energy you have. She bats it away just as effortlessly as the others. Completely drained, you drop to your knees and hang your head in shame. You feel the soft touch of a hand come to rest on your shoulder which you promptly try to shake off.

"I'm sorry I've caused you such pain," Eliza attempts a soothing voice, "but I stand by my decision. I believe in time you'll come to understa—"

"I don't want you as a 'sister', you murderous FREAK!!" You slam your fist into her jaw with all your might, her face caving inward as your arm tunnels deep into her giving flesh. A few moments pass as the two of you stand stuck like this, before she swaddles you in her thick tendrils and gently places you away from her form.

"...Alright... I see you need space," she says sounding slightly choke up. She then moves to the lapping waters of the lakefront and strolls into the lake. Just before she's completely submerged she turns her head around to face you, "I'll always love you dear sister. And I have a feeling you'll come to love me, too." And with that she dives into the water and takes off, leaving you all alone.

This, also cradle Blobimus in our slimy arms like a baby. We are emotionally compromised right now and having something to coddle might help.

Left by your lonesome in the dark, you seek out comfort from the only living thing available. You do a mental sweep for Blobimus, and find the slime resting in a field of glow caps. You coax the slime to you and it obeys, allowing you to pick it up and clutch it close. You're sobbing openly now, tears dripping down your cheeks onto the simpler slime below. You look to Tatsuo's remains and then back to Blobimus.

'Maybe... it can work...' You think to yourself, 'Eliza, at the very least, proves it's possible...' You pick yourself up, Blobimus in tow, and walk over to Tatsuo. You gently set Blobimus down on the ground and issue the command. It follows without question.

Blobimus' mass has increased! As it finishes its growth from consuming the remains, the slime's shape begins to change. A humanoid figure begins to take form. The beginnings of a torso take shape, followed by the emergence of what looks to be a malformed head. A set of limbs delineate themselves from the torso, reach out into the air, then melt into a puddle on the floor. The head gains increased definition, forming what looks to be a melted skull atop a gaping maw where a jaw should be. A tongue like appendage lolls out, allowing the slime to let out a continual moaning sound.

"No, stop! This was a mistake!" You plead, "Just go back to normal. Just go back to normal. Please go back to normal!" You mentally command your slime to resume its droplet form and it thankfully complies. As it mindlessly wanders it way back to the glow caps you fall to your knees and scream, slamming your fists against the limestone floor as you curse Eliza's name and vow to do everything in your power to wipe her existence from the plane of reality. As you finish your final tirade you collapse onto the floor exhausted. You close your eyes and cry yourself to sleep.

Several hours pass by the time you exit the cavern. Despite the sleep, you're still exhausted. You decide to make your way back to camp and then plan your next move from there. As you travel the forest path to your campsite, you spot smoke peeking its way above the treetops. Alarmed, you race your way back to camp as fast as possible. As you approach the camp grounds you notice a large bonfire roaring in the fire pit, as well as a figure, clothed in bright red, sitting by its side.

'It can't be...' You think to yourself, 'It's not possible!' You burst through the forest brush into the campsite, the figure all but falls over in shock at your arrival. "Tatsuo..." You whisper. The innocent looking face, disheveled hair, that red 'track suit'... "Tatsuo!" You cry out his name as you tackle him to the ground. "Gah!" He lets out a yelp as you collapse on top of him. "How did you survive? How are you here? How is any of this happening!?" You say on the verge of tears.

"I-I uh..." His face goes red as he averts his eyes, "M-ma'am?" You freeze in place.

"W-who are you?"

God this is a shitshow, still at least he's back.
Lets just bring him up to speed as best we can.

So now he have, an amnesiac Isekai boi, a traumatized slime girl, and a red yandere slime onee san.
Honestly loving this mess, good shit OP

Alright, wow this quest got quite a bit more serious than I expected. I thought it would just be some goofy little thing that wouldn't last more than a few days tops, but here we are, at over 400 replies no less! Thanks everybody who participated, read or even just glanced at this thing. I've got to have some time to think up some things. I have some ideas I want to follow but I'm not really sure how to implement them yet, so expect that to take a few days or so.

But man, I gotta say, I really enjoyed writing this thing. I can't speak for its quality, but I definitely found it enjoyable to update. So yeah, I guess... that's it for now? I'll still be watching the thread and can answer questions about the characters that wouldn't otherwise come up if anyone cares about things like that. Oh, and also I'd really really appreciate any constructive (or not so constructive) criticism. I'd really like to get better at this and that's the number one thing that would help me. Anyways, thanks once again to everyone for playing! I'll probably archive this thing later.

Heyyyy do we still have the skink tails?
Also good shit QM, hope you come back soon

What a mess.

Honestly enjoying this thread, been visiting it each day after work. Some more world building and NPC interactions. But honestly I have no real complaints so far. Keep up the good work and I'll be here whenever you continue this shit again.
>>
>>4426928
Really good quest man. I appreciate all the work that goes into writing Gelle as she goes through rapid change.
Reminds me of Doppleganger Damacy back on /tg/, except a lot more streamlined in mechanics and focused in narrative.

Also, Eliza did nothing wrong.

Oh boy, Tatsuo has a restart power.

...we gotta tell him we know he’s a NEET, we know he’s in a tracksuit because its the most comfortable clothing, we know about Ankou, and we know he’s kind.

We’re sorry we mocked his kindness before. We’re sorry we failed to stop Eliza the second time. Its our fault its our fault its our fault

Thank you I really appreciate it! Also, I'm glad someone likes Eliza
>>4426986
Hopefully soon, like Sunday night soon if I can get Monday off. I'll let you guys know later today.
>>4426998
She's long gone at this point.
>>4427090
Maybe you guys can keep from traumatizing him for a little while longer this time.
>>
>>4427098
Keep from traumatizing. Yes. Hilariously over protective to the point of hinderance and his demise again because we over do it, hopefully.

We made a promise. I wonder if after a certain point he hits a save point?
>>
We kill the bitch the next time we meet her. It is a shame he died and doesn't remember us but at least he is alive. moreover, let this be a lesson, eating people has consequences.
>>
We need to take control of our abilities both to avoid losing control of our consumed spirits as well to master our power.
All things considered, we got off easy this time because what broke free was empathetic towards us. If say, the imp had escaped, that would have been the end of us.

Next thread, we should meditate and try to sense the presences of the spirits in our body.
>>
>>4427463
we let a bandit that is able and willing to kill escape and gave her a incredibly powerful body, this is a fucked situation, and we seriously need to pick and choose who and what we eat to prevent this from happening again.

not every damn creature needs to be consumed as this massive fuck up proved
>>
>>4427708
That's definitely going to be an important thing to think about going forward, but at the same time we're going to have to build power aggressively if we want to have a chance at beating the demon king.
I'm interested to see why Eliza was able to do what she did, she didn't have any special abilities that would have made this possible so it's likely that we can counteract it once we're aware of the process.
>>
>>4427945
I think we are ok to consume non-sapient creatures, it's the thinking ones with souls we need to look out for
>>
>>4428066
I'm not sure that's it.
That ice fairy was sapient, and seemingly pretty willful but as of yet she wouldn't or couldn't mitosis like Liz did. There's no certainty that a person is unsafe or that a beast is safe. Heck, it was consuming a beast that let Liz manifest in the first place, that alone shows that this isn't going to be as simple as following a binary diet.
For now, we just don't know what works and what doesn't, and we clearly aren't strong enough to stop growing yet.
This is a learning experience, and I think we can learn a lot more about ourselves in the coming days.
>>
>>4427098
I think Eliza is a great character and I can't wait to encounter her again, but that doesn't mean I approve of what she did to Tater-Tatsuo tho. Even if I understand her reasoning.
>>
I went ahead and archived the thread. I also can confirm I've got this Monday off, so I'll probably update around this time tomorrow, maybe sooner. Hope to see you guys again soon!

I'm confused who is Eliza? The only slimes are Gelle and blobimus
>>
>>4428582
Lizzie is slime #3.
>>
>>4428277
No fuck her, we are going to rip out her core and fucking crush it. Bitch is nothing but pure evil.
>>
>>4428799
Nah, she's genuinely trying to help and clearly cares about us.
I also think she's right to warn us about forming attachments too quickly, especially with how rapidly Gelle is developing. Her presentation could use some work though.

Also, I just find it really hard to hold a grudge over killing someone who is assured survival and victory by decree of Fate and can't be permanently killed.
>>
>>4429153
Nope your wrong, she killed our boy. You are either with us or against us.
>>
>>4429160
You're looking awfully attached right now anon.
>>
>>4429207
That no attachments edge bullshit is just that, bullshit that loner losers say to make themselves feel better about there isolation and inability to connect with other people on any meaningful level.
>>
>>4429303
It's more that we've known the guy for roughly a day and we ended up crying to sleep over him.
I don't know about you, but that's a lot more investment than I've ever had in a new acquaintance.
It's not about being compulsively alone, but as a new being it's very easy to place more importance on others than is healthy, and if that isn't reigned in Gelle could get herself into serious trouble.
>>
>>4429344
We watch a person we had a buding friendship with that trusted us get murdered in one of the most grusome ways possible. your the one that has something wrong with them.
