The day of the grand ball is now upon Maria, and with it the trials that she must endure. She must make a show of herself, presenting herself as the greatest in the Academy. However she has a modestly dark secret, one that if it gets out can harm her reputation for years to come.

Only her preparation and Wit might be good enough to save her.

The sun leaked through Maria’s windows, hitting squarely upon the girl’s eyes. Sunday morning had come, and with it the day of the Grand Ball was upon her. With a steady movement Maria raised herself off the bed and made sure not to step on any of her traps which were laid out.

“Good morning Mistress, I have prepared your clothing.” Her Maid and trusted confidant Melody said while presenting her Purple Haired Master with a set of tasteful black and white clothing.

“Thank you very much Melody, just hand it here so I may put it on.”

Most women of Nobility would be stereotyped as not even being able to put any clothing on by themselves through greater ignorance. However that was clearly wrong, as even a child could put on a simple tunic. Most of them tried to wear things that they could not easily put on themselves, thus requiring help. However Maria did not really care about gaudy clothing and the like, because she knew for sure that she looked good in anything.

Such confidence allowed of course more comfortable clothing available.

“I will be cleaning and doing finishing touches on your dress for tonight while you are out Mistress. Please be back when the sun starts descending so we can get your things on.”

“Good, though I thought such a dress was perfect already?”

“Well, there are some stitching still sticking out here and there.” Melody claimed while shaking her head, “Oh yes, can you meet me in the Servant’s Quarters at that time?”

“Too dangerous to put the dress on in here I assume?”

“Indeed Mistress.”

Maria gave an understanding nod as she finally got the simple dress fashioned on, “I have been meaning to ask, what is the status on acquiring a kitten? It's been a few days, so you surely have made progress.”

“Oh that? Uh,” Melody gave a drawn out tone, “Well I have found it advised that you pick one up from wherever you shall stay. That way its more accommodating to the weather.”

“Well, we are not ready for it yet.” Maria admitted while making her way out the door, “I shall see you later than Melody.”

“Nn, have a good time at the Service!”

“I will.”

As tempting as Bon is, I wanna buff that faith up and Bon should be comfortable enough with us to come over if he has something to say.

Do you guys think we should discuss some of the longer term plans in the previous thread so that QM doesn't get mixed up or overwhelmed by us talking a bunch in the middle of a vote?

We need a checklist of things we need to do so we can make Maria life less miserable. Some of these are....

>Obtain a cat and train to prey the bird
>Ward off any suspicion about us
>Make Ford pay from his transgressions
>Make us saint first before Chloe
>Live a life free from death flags and have 12 kids from our choose husbando

Of course just as predicted, the skies above were quite clear with only the occasional fluffy cloud blocking the way. Such weather was accommodating for almost everyone as fall was never a good time for rain.

As Maria approached the Cathedral that stood domanantly against the Academy’s walls, she quickly noticed all the people going around it. Indeed it was most likely the day lovers would take all of their dates so that they could receive their blessing together. It can easily be seen as romantic to many people, but Maria herself always felt that going to Mass was just her duty.

Maybe that was just a thought brought up by Maria’s faith in the Lord above.

As she walked into the more crowded place, her eyes guided around before quickly setting sights on a spot off to the side. Sitting there was Bon with a girl who was looking to be a little more tense than she should be.

So Maria approached the two, “Hey there Bon, it seems you met Fein Kers without me.”

“Hmm, of Maria! I… should have expected you to be here.” Bon answered while scatching the back of his head.

“So what is up with your girl?” Maria laughed while taking a seat.

“M-Maria I’m a little, uh, hehe.” Kers looked over with a little wear on her face, “I’m not used to being out with this big of a crowd. I should have remembered it would get this crowded today.”

“Yeah, I guess thats a little hindsight right?” Bon joked.

“Yes but I’m the one who suggested coming here...” She murmured with a slight bit of fear, “It would have been so romantic but by the Lord!”

Maria could not help but laugh a little, “Is that so, well maybe you should grab onto my brother for comfort~”

“Wait wha-”

“Oh, your right!” And within a moment the girl was latched upon Bon, with quite the… unusual grip. For any case Bon was not going to make her let go, since his face was beet red and likely his brain has stopped functioning.

The numerous voices that sounded themselves all around the Cathedral slowly but surely died down as the Headmaster of the school came out. Unlike other times where he had been wearing simple black robes, now he was wearing white ones with a distinct red ribbon around his neck. Such was the reward for being promoted to a Cardinal of the Church.

“Welcome my Children, future rulers of men across the Lord’s lands. Thank you all for coming today on such a special occasion.” He announced while making a motion of his hand, “Today I am aware many come with their lovers and friends, all seeking the Lord’s blessing for the coming night. In such a case, I am more than willing to give it to you.”

Soon the man made a motion with his hands, “However we must all give our Prayers to the Lord, for blessing us with a bountiful harvest not seen in years!”

[Expression Failed]

And with that everyone around began to sing, and out of everyone Maria was down on the lower tier. Indeed the only reason she was not the worst was because she came to Church almost every single Sunday to pay tribute to the Lord. However as she sung one voice seemed to stick out among the rest.

Now standing near the front was Chloe with Lucien next to her, singing to her heart’s content like the angel she is. Indeed her voice seemed to roar across the Cathedral with Angelic might, but soon that ended as soon as the organ stopped at the end of the song.

“I am sure today the songs of the Lord’s Prayer has gripped his attention towards us. A powerful ire preparing to give the coming event his blessing. While the Harvest Festivities were not hos at one point, our belief in him shall make the his own.”

The Headmaster seemed to finally be hitting his groove, “In such a time, remember Children of the Lord, that infidelity is not just a sin but something to be wary of. In the Great Tome of our History, Eckheart’s Kingdom fell from one of his own children born from the belly of a simple bar wench.”

The man nodded to himself with a serious expression now forming, “Such acts may also incur those who walked this land before the Lord. Such acts is what they ordered their followers to commit, and as such if you do it you too shall be theirs.”

A wave of fear went through the room as Maria heard those words. Indeed, demons were something she could not abide in allowing, so her schemes were already done way before the event started.

The rest of the event was filled with the message, invoking similar stories along with ones about how true love saved a Kingdom. Everyone sang and enjoyed their time, to which Maria tried her best everytime even if she was shit at it.

And like that the event was over.

I suspect that Chloe might have figured out she was being dumb from the etiquette classes and that's why she was being more upfront with us at the dress shop instead of screaming about how we're mean.

Current goals I can vaguely recall(minus the stuff mentioned there.)

1. Find a dragon--> Some anon mentioned wanting to become a dragonrider. I say we go the St Martha vs the Tarrasque route entirely for the sake of comedy and/or intimidate it with Royal demeanor..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4sVmnfz9Wk

2. Microscope/telescope invention after we check Albert's glasses to see if the glass quality is enough to make them. It might even already exist since Otome glasses would be higher quality than they should be at thi time period.

3. Use Microscope for germ theory and to study how potions(magic?) work at a microscopic level.
Teach germ theory to enterprising young doctors not yet experienced enough to be twats who won't listen to us and carry on (secret) research after we become their patron.
Use the medicine advances we spur to make our armies survivability rise

4.Misc other advances to make us too useful to be killed off or excommunicated

5.Make more capitol for our expensive ideas. Now that I think of it, if they know the weather a year in advance, you can make an equation for calculating grain/etc futures. If we can roughly reverse engineer the pattern you can make a cheat sheet for investments over the course of years. The weather is surprisingly powerful in its influence. Even just having a sunny day raises economic productivity in our world simply because we aren't depressed by the gloomy rain.

6. Invent a printing press for spreading the otome novels?

7. Bandit (ninja) training or expansion of their mailing services to make them a useful spy unit during wartime. Also maybe a little memorial for the Bandits that died fighting the demon cultists.

8. Secure our trade route

9.Improve life of average citizen to cultivate LOYALTY

10. See what else Valor has been publishing about us

11. Invent the assembly line

12. Most important of all

“May the Lord bless you all tonight.” The Cardinal announced while bowing his head to the Lord above, “Stay safe and keep your wits about you.”

And like that the man left with the last few songs of the Organ announcing it. The Sermon now being over, a good amount of people who were all about the place began to leave for their after activities. That went for the three as well, as soon enough they had escaped from the crowds for a more relaxed area of the courtyard.

“So has infidelity always been a problem or something?” Maria asked her companion with a small inquiry.

“Kinda?” Bon admitted while scratching the back of his head, “I heard about a few Counts and Barons getting caught up in it.”

“Yeah that’s true. A bunch of idiots they were, atleast they could do it properly.” Kers said with a shaking of her head, “Couldn’t they realize there is much more to love than just fucking eachother senseless? A grand romantic night with wine and a soft kiss is good enough for me~”

Maria analysed how Kers was not being shoved off by Bon as an interesting development, “So how did yesterday go? Sorry for ghosting the two of you like that.” Maria of course held in the fact she thought it was a better idea for that.

“Oh it was lovely, and scary too!” Kers went off without holding back, “I instantly knew the man was your brother from his handsome looks, but I could not bring myself to come even close to him! But then, he approached me in such a handsome stride I-”

“Kers, can you, uh, please calm it down a little.” Bon called out with a blushing face, “I was lucky enough to have noticed you in the first place. I just guessed from how you were acting that you were Maria’s friend.”

Hearing that Maria could not help but ponder for a moment, since those words were more or less saying that Maria might be weird. You know, since Fein Kers was by all definitions freaking weird. Maria however is simply eccentric and tactful, indeed someone like her was a step above the rest.

“Well I am glad that it worked out,” Maria claimed before nodding to herself. She did wonder about the future of this though, since she wondered how Bon would react to this constant praise and Kers to, well, having someone to constantly talk to.

>>
>>4411080
>>See how the gossip girls were doing, since one of them did technically get dumped by the Prince

We need:
1. To make sure our friend circle doesn't tear itself apart.

2. To see if the second date improved (maybe at least explain why it was so awkward to make it seem less awful if they didn't loosen up)

3. An entire week's worth of gossip before the party so that we don't say something dumb during small talk. We are completely out of the loop and don't know why there isn't a massive brothel scandal going around the school.

4. It's been too long since we had a good talk.

“Well, I hope you two have a nice day.” Maria called out while making her away from Bon, “Try your best to entertain Fein Kers before the Ball.”

“Wha?” Was about all Maria could hear as she dissolved once again into the crowd. However the crowd was more or less dwindling, so it was not very hard for her to navigate it.

So with a few steps here and there, she had not problem when she spotted a young man wearing a pair of spectacles looking a little depressed off to the side of the Gardens. Of course there was the temptation to scare him with her sneaking, but Maria would admit today would not be the best one to scare him on.

“Fufu, well there are you Albert.”

“Guh!” Even as she approached him from the front Albert gave a small jump, “Maria, please do not sneak up on me! You about gave me a heart attack.”

“I was not even trying to scare you though. Maybe your head was in the clouds for a little too long.” Maria took him by the hand and shinned a genuine smile, “I know, its because I did not sit next to you during the Sermon correct?”

“Am I that much of an open book to you?”

“Indeed you are, though it’s not a very bad thing.” She mused while poking him on the nose, “How about after we are done with the Ball we go out Stargazing or something? How about it?”

“I… would not be against it.” Albert answered with a smile, “Though what were you doing then?”

“Just sitting with my brother. I have been worried about him these last few days, but he seems to have finally started getting better as of recent times.”

“Really? Well that's good to hear.” Albert admitted while giving a sigh, “Family comes first, or at least what my Father says.”

“Coming from a man who’s gotten so many children, I find it hard to family wouldn’t come first.”

“Hehe, I guess you are right.” Albert admitted with a laugh shared by Maria.

Anons were acting like it's an important romantic day, ergo there must be minor festival stalls scattered about the marketplace.
>Go see some of the early festival stalls. We can't see them later tonight because of the dance.
Afterwards we check on the gossip girls. Albert should understand us being worried about a love triangle breaking up the friendship and how it might not be a good idea to flaunt a relationship right in front of them if the dates went bad. We don't want them doing something they'd regret just before the ball.

I wanna check up on Elric, but if the first prince's camp is suspicious then hanging around with the second prince looks like a giant red flag.

...Also we totally didn't do much to sus out what Chloe's big plan to save Oskar was either huh. Calling she's probably gonna confront us at the ball but hopefully we've covered our tracks well enough
>>
>>4411782
They're probably snooping around now since everyone is busy.
>>
>>4411782
Yeah. We basically ignored every shot to sniff out things, but we did set a trap for if they're planning to break into our room for real evidence. I think we should just treat em like you shoud with the police, shut the hell up and say nothing as everything is a trick to make you look guilty. Let them just lay out the evidence on their own so that we can pick at it. They have no right to demand anything of you in the first place, just because Ford and the prince might decide to demand it of us with an authoritative voice does not mean we owe them anything and our cousin was right about there being no jurisdiction over us.
(I'd been thinking in the back of my mind that we need a body double and one certainly would be helpful for an alibi, but this isn't a society where you can backtrack a person's exact location for weeks/months. Our dates with Albert are entire sections of the day with no real alabi technically)

We can then frame the entire thing as a Ford vs us fight with Choe as his minion, congratulate him on his first volley, leave and proceed to sic his daddy on him.

The biggest problem is the existence of bootleg truth serum (we shoulda researched countermeasures and detection methods in our free time,) but security at the ball should be tight. Only drink from new bottles during the ball? Maybe eat now and don't eat the hors d'oeuvres at the ball unless we see them being directly taken from the same place as everyone else's? I really don't know the food arrangements at this thing or even if there are any.
Seriously. How did the fact that it was so easy to drug people with anything, let alone magical potions, not make us paranoid as shit.

“Oh, I wonder what it is that we will find?” Maria mused as they began to walk about the series of stall scattered about the small town.

“I’m a little curious too.” Albert had to admit while looking around himself, “I am seeing a lot more student walking around today.”

Indeed the post Mass market was quite lively today. What else would one expect though, as many student with their lovers decided to travel through the streets to spend money on eachother. Honestly it was a Merchant’s dream to be sure.

“Hmm, though I am a little sad that I won’t be buying anymore jewelry.” Maria admitted while placing a single hand upon her necklace, “Still it was such a lively buy for sure.”

“Indeed, it looks great on you.” Albert announced with a smile, “Though now that I think about it, my brother said he might be-”

“Albert! There you are! Haha!” Both of their attentions were taken by a person who ran out of their stall and gave Albert a nice choke hold and rubbing on the neck, “You know I was wondering when you would come by. You can’t keep away from the money for that long!”

“Brother-! Please-! You are choking me!”

“Like I would stop when you are right next to such a pretty woman! Isn’t it my job to embarrass you?” He gave one more laugh before finally letting the boy go, “Fine fine, there you go.”

“Gah!” Albert exclaimed while staying on the ground for a little too long.

“Well time to introduce myself to your Girlfriend.” The rather larger man gave a bow, “Name is Thompson, third son of our family who is way too large.”

“Maria Louisa Regnia, Kingslayer and daughter of the Dragon at your service.” Maria said with a bow she herself gave.

“Damn he actually got a Noble girl too! You lucky ass bastard somehow getting a girl before me!” He laughed while Albert was slowly picking himself up from the ground.

“C-come on get off of me!” Albert called out while trying his best to break the grip out of the bully’s grip.

“You know I have been wanting to do this for two years, and you are just going to take it from me?”

“You’re already doing it!”

“Ah, I guess you are right.” Thompson said while releasing his brother, “Always the realist arn’t you?”

“Being a realist has gotten me into the Academy without a dime out of our pockets.”

“And I am sure Father is thanking you immensely for it.”

Maria could not help but smile at the sight before her, something you would rarely see outside of a family setting. Maria kinda wondered what it would be like to have so many siblings, since here Albert had Lord knows how many. And chances are his Father was still trying to get more of them.

“Dane… Caine….” She could not help but mutter their names under her breath. She never really knew them in her early life because the two were always doing something. Such a state of affairs was not helped when the Miaphate attacked.

Would they welcome her just as jovially, give her a simply formal welcome, or something in between?

It did not matter now though, Maria avenged their deaths twice fold without issue.

“So, Maria you said?” Maria was brought out of her trance by a jovial call by the brother, “What made you like this fool enough to take his hand?”

“Come on Thompson, I-”

“No no, I really want to hear this. Hell I do not even have a wife, which I honestly should have by now.”

“Well, if you are really looking for the reasons than…” Maria ponder for a moment
before growing quite the wicked smile, “Yes, he is quite smart for a man his age and quite cute on top of that. Does that satisfy you?”

“I can’t really say, lets look at the one whothe compliments are towards.” He called out before turning their attention to a now blushing Albert, “Yes, I say thats good enough.”

And like that he released Albert back to Maria, “Now then, since you are my Brother’s date I can’t have you go away without a gift. Come over to my stall.”

Curiosity was getting the better of Maria, and so she walked over with Albert barely behind to an odd looking stall. If you were to describe exotic goods, those were exactly what Maria was seeing before herself. From what looked to be beast hides to spices, crates of wooden carvings and Porcelain, it was quite the find.

“Well, this is my selection. Though I got a few special things I may have you look at.” He announced while bringing out a few things before Maria.

The first she noticed was a pair of golden bracelets, “These are bracelets coming from far south of here, where goldsmithing was rumored to have first been invented. I simply took them since the markings upon them are something I have never really seen before.”

Looking them over, Maria could not help but admit that was the truth. It looked as if there were dozens of orderly rivets within it. Indeed, quite a piece of work but honestly she wondered what else he had in store.

“And here is the Never Wilting Flower of Hiltan.” He announced while bringing forward a singular red flower before Maria, “Heard that object came from the East, where men would live on the highest mountains.”

“I take it you savvy yourself as quite the traveler and collector?”

“Indeed you are right.” Thompson admitted with a small chuckle, “I can’t really help it, since my little brother here tends to buy from me and is the only time I hear from him.”

“S-sorry about that. Theres just too many people to send letters to.”

“Indeed, I can see that as a good case.” He laughed before bringing out another item before them, “Alright, last suggestion. This here is an old book from times before even the Empire. While I can’t really make much sense of it, you two have access to the Academy’s archives. Maybe you two can make sense of it.”

Indeed what be brought out looked to be an old as hell book. Looking over it, she wondered how such a book stayed in such good condition. Maybe if she was curious enough, she could crack whatever secrets it held.

Maria looked over the items that were presented to her and thought about it for a moment. Indeed each item seemed odd, the possibility of them holding some kind of ability obvious. However she needed to pick one, or risk spending the rest of her funds kicking at dust.

So she went for something that was likely going to give her a nice chance at learning, “I think the Tome would be me well. Of course its not romantic, but I am sure we could learn a little bit more together.”

The brother to Albert gave a hearty laugh, “Hey Albert, hear that? She’s gotta be a keeper, at least for a silly kid like you.”

And like that he pushed the book forward into Maria’s hands, “IF you ever do get that translated, be sure to tell me what is it you discover within it.”

“I will try.” She admitted before stuffing it into her bag.

“Well with that done I think its time for you all to get moving.” Thompson announced while making a motion with his hand, “Go now, and don’t get yourselves in trouble.”

So they did as they were told and left, Maria giving him a wave while Albert did the same along with a relieved sigh.

“You got an odd brother, but lovely one.” Maria told the poor man as they walked through the streets.

“Yeah, you're right there.”

“Now I can’t help but wonder if each of your other siblings are like that?” Maria claimed with a playful poke, “Surely you cannot have a family of eccentric explorers and keep a business running.”

“Yeah, you are right there. Though my Father has not set the standard very high himself if I gotta be honest.”

“Hmm, you are right there. There is a point in just having a fun time in the bedroom and purposefully turning your wife and any other woman you meet into an baby maker.” Of course her reply caused Albert to grow all sort of crimson shades, but Maria ignored it for the high noon sun.

So they walked for a little bit longer, Maria and Albert enjoying the simple commerce of man. Indeed it is a beautiful sight, the amount of money traveling from one person to another. Maria can only wish for the day she is able to make this happen in her own realm. By what means, well War was definitely on the Agenda.

However soon Maria spotted something in the crowd, “Hmm, I wonder who that blond haired person is?”

“Who are you- oh! That would be Prince Elric.”

Probably hearing his name, said prince looked around along with the other two who were with him. Minor looks of surprise were exchanged between the two groups before they approached.

“Hehe, well there you two are! We were wondering where you went.” Laughed Matheo as they finally met up in the middle.

“Well we were not trying to hide, you are simply not observant.” Maria said with a counter.

“It seems Elizabeth’s guess that you two would be at the markets would be accurate.” Elric mentioned with a soft smile.

“Really?” Albert mentioned with a raised brow.

“I mean, I just knew thats where we might find Maria.” Elizabeth admitted while gaining a minor blush about herself.

“Interesting, maybe there was a reason Erica was friends with you after all.” Maria popped in with a smile, “It seems you have somehow gotten two men following you then!”

Maria gave a little laugh at her dumb joke, while Albert followed probably because he realized it too. It only took a few moments however for the two subjects of the matter to realize what Maria meant, and quickly did they grow red.

“P-Please don’t say things like that! I am only acting as Erlic’s partner for the dance!” Elizabeth said without much hesitation. Innocent sounding, though it also came from a person who Maria had modest respect for. Then again, Elric probably liked the innocent girls more because of the Otome Game.

Without much else to do they began to wonder about the place, each making their own stops at stalls to pick up with their own items and take in the sights. For Elric, he went ahead and purchased a small necklace for Elizabeth while Matheo just grabbed himself a large loaf of bread. Indeed it was a romantic buy, just for himself of course.

Soon enough though they noticed a small act being played in the busy streets, as a man began to juggle a large amount of objects into the air. Honestly Maria had to admit the amount of objects being thrown was kinda insane, counting maybe ten objects at a time.

“Hey, Albert, is such a sight normal?” Maria asked while leaning towards him.

“I have heard of a few jesters doing this kind of act, though those men have reached upwards of Twenty.”

“That’s… quite a lot.”

“Indeed it is.”

Soon enough, after what seemed to have been a minute of the man performing he finally collected all the balls and gave a courteous bow, “Thank you all for coming to my act, however I am not just a simple jester with only one trick. No, I am a jester who knows that a crowd doing nothing is one who is not engaged! So I devised a little game.”

Maria watched as the man ripped off the cloak behind him to reveal a large stall, enough to have belonged in the modern age. What he revealed was a series of cans all stacked upon each other.

“My game is simple, take down the cans that stand upon the table with your might. Do not let the simplicity fool you however. Its one gold an entry, though I ask that for Couples that I limit the attempt to just one of you.” And with that he grew a wicked smile while bringing out a small golden bottle, “The winner shall receive this item, a Bottle of Luck. For taking this bottle will surely cause one to have a fabulous night.”

[Intrigue Success]

Maria studied the man for just a moment, the feeling about him was off. His eyes were sharp and calculating, however they were not of a Charlatan. No, this man at least thought he was speaking the truth.

Something was off about this.

Looking off to the side, Maria could not help but notice a golden bird perching itself on a nearby building.

Chloe was nearby…

This dude must have more than one vial of luck, so he could just drink one and be assured that people won't win enough for him to lose a profit.

Maria wondered for a moment at the Prize, so slowly she leaned into Albert, “What would be the value of a Bottle of Luck?”

“I… can’t say.”

“Does that mean you’ve never heard of it before?”

“Only rumors, though I never thought I would see one in real life.”

Just like herself with Albert, most of the crowds were talking with one another. Indeed the Idea of simply just going up there herself was obvious, though Maria thought against it because of Chloe’s existence.

With that thought, Maria gave Albert a nudge, “Why don’t you head up there yourself? Take a gamble at such a grand prize?”

“But one gold is a bit much.”

“Hmm, good point. Here,” Maria placed into the man’s hands another coin of gold. Albert simply took it in stride however, soon walking up there with several others. Out of the two she did not expect both Elric and Lucien to walk up there for the competition. They looked at one another, as if sizing eachother for the little competition.

“Elric.” Lucien started with a corpse-like look Maria had not seen in two weeks.

“Brother…” Elric responded with what Maria guessed was determination in his heart.

“Alright, now that we have all the players, simply grab a ball and began!”

Upon his call everyone started throwing their balls, however within moments it was obvious something was wrong. Almost all the participants started to wobble slightly, sizing up their shots as if trying to strike a far away target. Many were struggling, including Albert himself, at trying to strike what should have been a simple pile of pottery.

Out of all of them though, two stood out in an instant. All of Elric’s shots were close, so much so that Maria would have sworn he would have won soon. However Lucien, who had yet to fire a shot, simply looked back into the crowd before growing a smile and throwing his ball.

In an instant all of the pottery shattered.

Maria could not help but notice the odd smile coming upon the Jester’s mouth. It was genuine, as if he had succeeded in something else entirely.

“It seems the Crown Prince, Lucien has won my silly little competition! Cheers for the victor!”

And like that everyone within the crowd gave their cheers. Though as they did, Maria noted how the Jester somehow knew the Prince’s name with only the slightest hint.

“Sorry Maria.” Albert admitted while walking his way back from the little bout, “I could not get it.”

“Its… alright.” Maria admitted as the Jester quickly covered his things up. The crowd dispersed, the sounds of Chloe congratulating Lucien on his winnings ringing in her ear.

Should I have said the stuff about the rigged game to give Lucien something unknown to Elric? He may be against his brother but I don't think he'd stand by and let them drink it so long as he's worried it could be a poisoning attempt like it could legitimately be.

Yeah, I don't want them to just stumble into the chef we wanted to get out of the city.

Luck potion is not exactly weak and with her plot armor together it would be powerful.
>>

Basically we need to drop them from drinking it and uncovering the scam gives us reason to confiscate the drink as an assassination attempt. If Lucien was in on it (possible) then we just get rid of it before he can speak.

Like I said, it’s been a long time since we told the chef to go out and probably they won’t use the potion for this until tomorrow because of the ball, so I don’t see luck helping them with it

He'd have to be monumentally stupid to setup a stall when he knows he might get hunted down by nobles.

You seem to think that luck is somehow a force bound by time and will only be able to affect things once they drink it, when it isn't and could very well work retroactively.

Luck by the potion is bound by the time you drink it otherwise this thing is way better. But yes if they use for it they may still find something

The cook being there crosses past luck and into suicidal idiocy unless he stepped on a thousand year old teleport pad. Him showing up is not luck, it's blatant reality warping. Whatever Chloe finds is not going to be the cook.
She might end up immune to the traps. One of Elric's faction might end up drunk and saying too much, she might activate saint powers and be able to use her newfound political power to stop Oskar's expulsion, she could find out about the mailmen (This is actually the best case scenario if we have trouble since she might be dumb enough use that as evidence. Not gonna spell it out incase QM changes his mind, but think about the implications) we might even get drugged and confess everything (seriously, no eating or drinking at the ball) according to some master plan of theirs.
>>
>>4415607
Or he got held up. There are more than enough reasons why his exit could be delayed enough for her to catch him and with a literal luck potion those could easily have happened.
>>
>>4415612
No. the luck didn't start yet. If he had been held up he'd still be gone by now as it's been several days. Your obsession with a nonsensical line of thought is bordering on absurdist humour.
>>
>>4415604
My friend, that’s how a potion should work. If you get lucky just by having it why would you even drink it in the first place ?

Do you think ford would go that far ?
>>
>>4415644
>My friend, that’s how a potion should work. If you get lucky just by having it why would you even drink it in the first place ?
Because you need to drink it to get the effect? Are retroactive effects truly outside of your comprehension?
>>
>>4415655
The thing is you’re talking like everything is already working up to her finding the chef (if that’s what she uses it to get lucky to) before she drinks the potion
>>
>>4415644
Absolutely.
Half is that the Lucien Club is willing to jump to absurd conclusions to absolve Chloe of any wrongdoing.
The other side of that blind faith/love is that we've been letting him up his paranoia for fun and hypocritical justice zealots tend to have extremely unethical double standards to those they deem evil. It would be justified in his mind because we're obviously guilty of something in some way.

He also doesn't seem the type to consider or comprehend that he's acting wrong except when it comes to him breaking his no killing rule. Eg) his pushiness and refusal to consider we didn't want him there when we were injured, his mistreatment of us during the trip when we gave a legitimate reason for for Lucien to go, and his assholery after the trip. Ford simply isn't good at reflecting upon his actions or the wants of others once he's made up an opinion. Lucien is (was?) essentially a puppet for Ford this entire time because Ford controlled every aspect of Lucien's life and yet Ford's goal is the opposite. He does this while raging at us for giving Lucien even a semblance of autonomy by letting Lucien consider facts. Ford basically NEEDS us to be evil for him to be acceptable.

(Part of it probably is my dislike of him being a twat, but he's already shown multiple times that he's willing to let other people on his side be at risk of death as an unwilling sacrifice for his no killing rule. There's a saying about that involving forests and trees )

Waltz could do it too since we don't have a read on him.

>>4415655
A retroactive effect needs a logical reason to be luck in this scenario and there is no logical reason to not get his ass out of town ASAP before he gets executed.

It was actually pretty lucky that Chloe followed us because it means she couldn't follow the cook while he makes his escape after seeing them blatantly chase the knight.

The amount of reasons for him to stay even if held up are so low that I'm half convinced you think they loop back from negative into positive if you add enough negative reasons.
>>
>>4415681
That's what retroactive means. That the effect starts before the cause happens. Luck is often just a matter of circumstances that already happened coming together to your benefit.

With this being magic it doesn't necessarily have to be limited by time.
>>
>>4415688
>A retroactive effect needs a logical reason to be luck in this scenario and there is no logical reason to not get his ass out of town ASAP before he gets executed.
A patrol got suspicious why a chef had so much money and decided to keep him in the city until they checked where he got the money and that he didn't steal it from a noble.

Would that be enough logical reason why he could still be here?
>>
>>4415688
>Waltz could do it too since we don't have a read on him.
Waltz is an ambitious and power-hungry on account of his blatant powergrab attempt after some girl's father died and he was in position to take that land. He's only attached to Lucien for the prestige and influence. Also apparently the "intrigue" master of Lucien's little group.
>>
>>4415691
Nope. What kind of security do you think exists in medieval times and with how easy everyone is to bribe, why can't he just bribe his way past if the guards aren't actually stealing the money from him?
Are they doing mandatory pat downs and strip searches of every person to enter or leave? If that's true, then how TF did we smuggle in a box of potions via a normal courier? You're acting like he's leaving the border of the country. At least then he'd be stopped to check for spy papers.
>>
>>4415697
Then Chloe just has the luck that he gets the idealistic guards and they just so happen to get informed of his newfound wealth.
>>
>>4415697
You are acting like this wouldn't be literal magic pushing things to align with Chloe's agenda.
>>
>>4415699
Idealistic guards that have no reason to stop him because the farmland is OUTSIDE a castle town and he's a cook.
>>
>>4415701
Chloe already has author/creator fiat doing that and she aint managed jack shit. Luck works with the improbable, not the reasonably impossible.
>>
>>4415702
He happened to seem suspicious to them with how freely he spent his money.
>>
>>4415703
Author fiat that is bound by some definition of reasonable. But what is reasonable expands quite a lot when you can point to a luck potion affecting things.
>>
>>4415704
What freely spent money? He literally grabbed the cash and left with whatever stuff he found important.
And he lives in a town of ALL the nobles. You think the nobles don't randomly toss out cash?
Are these guards or are these bandits looking for peasants to rob? Sounds like handling police corruption is one of our next reforms.
>>
>>4415689
I know what it means, but like I said this can only occur after the luck potion is drunk.
>>
>>4415713
Do you mean you want to prevent her from drinking it and therefore whatever the potion does doesn't matter? In which case that is the entire point I was making.

Otherwise what proof do you have that it can only happen after the potion is drunk?

I don't remember anything we learned about magic making retroactive effects impossible.
>>
>>4415717
Boy did you pay attention to what I wrote ? the potion can work on existing effects (specially with Chloe's plot armor) but it will only influence it after it's drunk, since it's a potion. This isn't a time travel or butterfly effect dude
>>
>>4415717
It's luck, not reality warping. Retroactively changing something that's already happened isn't luck.

It does not make the impossible possible. that is the limit of luck.
Frankly in order for the luck to be as powerful as you are demanding it to be it brings up questions like asking why the jester didn't drink some and accidentally stage a perfect coup since he might be able to make his own.
>>
>>4415725
Luck is the result, but the way it is created is open.

Would you call it luck if it turned out that the chef was held up? Yes.

So there is nothing keeping it from being possible.

And for the argument it would be too powerful luck. By which metric do you define the strength of luck?
>>
>>4415723
Ahem, I think as I understand what you are saying. Simply put, the moment luck starts is of course a period of time, but during that time it must have been consumed to gain the effect. It was simply the luck you would have been instilled by the potion granting you the chance to drink the potion which confirms that reality.

Gotta be honest though, thats a little confusing and would not work for a Quest.

Also while I will be taking this by a differnt angel here later on, Lucien rolled a 5 while Albert rolled a 20 on trying to win.
>>
What I'm worried is the potion that was given away. What if it's a poison? The game was rigged for Lucien to win and the world is trying to drag the narrative back on it's tracks. We need to confront Chloe and let her hold the winning potion to test it. If we proved that potion was meant to kill the prince, Chloe going to owe us something. This is also a last time gauge to see how reasonable the first prince faction is. Ford is the only one who antagonize us and the others are just victims of Ford's lies and deceits. It could also use this to remove Ford out of the Lucien side and weaken the position of the first prince.
>>
>>4415734
Where is the roll for Lucien ? I missed it

>>4415734
>Gotta be honest though, thats a little confusing and would not work for a Quest.
It works as long as the affected parts are outside view until you as the Qm can determine which outcome would be needed.

>>
>>4415745
Hmmm, nah. Many of them I like to keep secret, since its something I have literally done for years.
>>
>>4415725
Shit man, that's a lot.

All you gotta say is it'd likely allow the drinker to bypass any traps we set that are based on chance of them being clumsy vs ones we can trigger directly, and even then may divert the action to do the least likely damage, such as no dye getting on them at all allowing them to get away without being ID'd

vs.

Getting people who are off doing their own thing to take new actions against their judgment. The world may bend a bit to one's actions, but it likely can't bend people directly.

Real issue is only way to pull of a trap now would for it to be as deliberate as possible with a level of human direction, such as melody being on hand to enter upon signal or something.

That or we somehow manage to remove the potion from play or get it drunk well out of range of our actions. If anything, it may let us stage harmful accidents. that said, we don't know the duration of it. Setting up a bandit capture of the potion may be ideal.

This means the goal is to learn duration and force their hand too early, or prevent them from using the item within the span of the day. Drinking the potion is a direct game over as we have not moved all pieces 100% out of play, allowing the slimmest of available threads to be pulled with minimal likely consequences.
That is of course, unless there's knowledge or something of higher value than the safety of Oskar that is in play, which luck will most likely point at instead.

Joker should be tailed by an associate if it's a worshipper acting upon the will of his demon/opposing god; if he's a opponent worshipper, they'll likely have some idea of who we are. Really need to get this crowd saturated with our people stat.

“What did happen?” Maria asked while turning towards the suspicious man.

“I-it was kinda weird. I… don’t remember it very well except it was very weird.” He answered while already following Maria’s steps.

“Sorcery...” Maria said under her breath as she finally made her way up to the Jester. Said man was placing a large cloth over the stall as he was humming to himself, “Sir, I wish to talk to you.”

“Talk to me, a Noble wishes to talk to a simple jester directly?” He announced with a laugh, “My my, at least I ask for a guarantee not to have my head chopped off.”

[Conversation Success]

Maria was about to say something in response to that, but suddenly realised it was simply a ploy. Albert behind her was also starting to grow a little wary, which she felt a few other pairs of eyes upon her back.

“What kind of trickery did you use there? I have never heard of any practical illusions that can make something both farther away and move at the same time.”

“Oh, sour that your boyfriend did not win?”

“What kind of sorcery did you use?”

“Damn you are quite the spiteful girl arn’t you.”

“If you keep this up…”

“You will have me arrested?” He announced with a laugh, “You do not hold that kind of authority here, Kingslayer. I can mightily do what I want and please as long as I abide by the Church’s doctrine. And I have never heard of a simple game going against that.”

“How did you-”

“Well tally ho! Enough talking I say!” He announced while he had somehow placed all his things into a small wheelbarrow, “I hope to never see you again!”

And like that he began to run for it, Maria taking a double take as he had somehow packed up everything.

We either need to immediately stop either of them from drinking the potion or go to the headmaster. We have two paths here. I don't think a vote to personally snatch and break the bottle before they can drink it will work so we need an alternate route.
>Let him go, for now, as Maria needs to report this to the Headmaster.
Get a horse to rush if need be. The fact that he immediately packed up and ran before anyone could check the aftermath of the stall only makes him more suspicious.

>Get Albert to alert the guards that the luck potion might be a poisoning attempt on the prince. The jester knew Albert's name and title despite it never being given and was not good enough of an actor to hide that the prince winning was his goal. He can meet up with the headmaster to testify later too.

If we can somehow manage to sneak this in it would be good too, but i'm not expecting it.
>Tell our mailmen of this man and ask them to monitor for his attempted escape of the town so that the guards may hunt him down after the headmaster is mobilized.
Fuck this dude. I'm gonna make him become one of the first wanted posters for suspicion of poisoning the royal family. Japanese art classes should make it easy to make a portrait and spread it.
>>4415810
Possibly. His argument is flawed though since fraud is probably somewhere in the things against the church's doctrine. As for us not being the boss of him, maybe, but the Emperor sure as hell is not gonna be amused by that fucker using his son as a lab experiment.

>>4415813
He'll be back and by then his actions today will be stacked against him enough to warrant an immediate head lopping.
>>
>>4415810
I have my suspicions because I think he maybe a cultist or something
>>4415813
I don't think that advisible since he may have magic on his side
>>
>>4415826
Yeah, that's why I held off on the bandits kidnapping/killing his ass as he tries to escape. They don't need the fucker to randomly turn into a 6 foot tall demon and start eating them.

I think we have a good argument for a cultist . Elric didn't recognize him and Lucien showed no signs either which means he isn't part of the court. He's clearly not part of the church either.
Ruling those out means that the main way to recognize him would be through Chloe since she's quite distinctive and the headmaster has been keeping that a secret. Ergo the main reason left that we know to recognize Lucien would be to be part of the demon cultists.

There's always the low chance he conspired with Lucien to defraud dozens of nobles which (will not help Lucien's reputation at all), but that's a lower priority than possible heresy and poisoning attempts.

If he's just Valor, then he's still in trouble for human experimentation.
He also called us spiteful when we're really not unless it involves people trying to kill us. Dude's operating on the old timeline/prophecy and is gonna get fucked when he finds out he doesn't have everything rigged in his favor.

This also might give validation to Chloe's theory of interference and save Oskar but we can still invade since he's a failure and can go on a "peacekeeping" mission. Maybe something about the barbarians starting to cross into our borders and us having to invade because he's clearly an incompetent fuckup. Suspicion on the jester of being a demon cultist and behind the Oskar situation also gives reason to hold off on his blessings to make him a heretic king for us to attack.

>Let him go, for now, as Maria needs to report this to the Headmaster

>>
>>4415793
that's it. We are gonna research enhancement potions during the holiday.

Also chasing people down is at the core of who we are. There's no way we don't have hidden allies in the crowd who won't help out, for both narrative 'strength' and backstory skill. Fuckin assassin's creed this shit.

>Tell Albert to find Chloe and ask to not drink the potion
>Tell Elric to alert the headmaster "to alert our guardians"
>Tell Elizabeth to go to the post office and send a paper with a big X in the center, the name Lex, and this location at the bottom.
>Give chase to the Eldritch fool

We should be able to give those commands fast enough before we hightail the fuck after him. Even if Elric and Liza don't catch our speech, Albert will certainly not let us down and reiterate it to them. Both because of narrative and Albert's good with words.

I doubt this guy really knows just how connected we are. Maybe we can do a bandit whistle while chasing him to get help with any of our men in the crowd.
>>

>>
>>4416087
well "Headmaster and stop Lucien" is enough for one

At the sight of the fleeing figure, Maria grew only a little aggravated at the sight. Certainly if she chased the man down, it would have been one hell of an attempt. However, in the end this man clearly had something under his thumb, let it be that he is a Alchemist, Wizard, or a Warlock using the powers of the demons.

So Maria only shook her head as she slowly started traveling away, “I did not like that one bit.”

“I agree.” Elric announced while making his way forward, “What in the world was he?”

“I cannot say, only that I do not want anyone drinking that potion.”

“Do you think its poison?”

Maria looked at Elric, the young man obviously listening for what he will assume to be the truth. As such, Maria being Maria, she trusted the man enough to give an honest answer, “I do not know, for sure atleast. However we can easily frame it as such can we not?”

“...” He seemed to think about it for a moment before nodding to himself, “I will see what I can do, however my Brother’s authority will win out as you probably know.”

“I do, but at least the knowledge will be placed out there.”

And like that the groups split up, Elric seeing what he can do about the potion while Maria and Albert traveled their way up to the Academy. There were plenty of people both infront and behind them on the small journey back to the School, many probably ready for the coming night. However within moments Maria hit the grounds she was sprinting towards the Head Master’s office.

It was not long, quickly crossing by numerous art about scripture. A simple knock at the door and a call to come in was enough for Maria to make it to the room.

“Ah, Kingslayer. I see you have brought Albert with you as well.” He said while taking a seat at his desk, “May I ask why you were such a rush to get to my room?”

“Y-yeah… sorry about that.” Maria said while breathing in and out for a few moments before composing herself, “Something happened over at the Markets today. I think some kind of person might be up to a heretical scheme.”

“Heretical? That is quite the accusation. Though it is coming from one who has faced demons before.”

“Thank you, so what happened was…”

And with that Maria told him about the events at the stall today. How the odd little carnival game erupted into an odd show of what Maria could only explain as illusions. Finally ending with the winning of Lucien and how the Jester treated her afterwords.

“And you can confirm for me all this, Albert?” With the affirmation given by Albert the Priest shook his head, “Indeed that is troubling. Indeed while there is no scripture in performing acts of mystery, though to not only use them against several people but also using it as a cover to sneak this ‘Potion of Luck’ is troubling.”

>Admit that Chloe's theory might be starting to sound reasonable enough for a delay on judgement.
(Can't go too hardline on the expulsion or we eventually look too eager. Oskar is sure to be a dumbass again sometime soon and this now pins him as maybe being influenced by the machinations of demons. Not a good look for getting a blessing to be king. Also gives us a major opening to get Chloe off our back while Oskar is too weak a king to stop barbarian hordes fro overtaking his land and needing rescue.)

>If he is an individual named Valor then he may have just been caught doing human experimentation on Lucien without consent. The elderly man began to think for a moment, his hand resting on his chin. Indeed if he had a beard, he would have likely been stroking it. However, beards are not the style of today and insteads he only had to deal with a simple clean shaved chin.

“Indeed this is very troubling. I will see about sending some folks to track down this fool, though I am afraid of what our chances of finding him truly are.”

Maria only gave a sigh, “Indeed, the chances are quite low.”

“I simply wonder why he would be ‘helping’ the couple in the first place.” The old man pondered, “Do you by chance have an idea?”

Maria thought about it for a moment, deciding that in the end she should just tell the man what she thought, “I feel that fate has been disrupted, that whoever this is is trying to get things back in order.”

The priest looked at her for a moment before shaking his head, “Fate is only given by our Lord and is gleamed upon by the Demons who try to change it. If a Cult truly wishes to support the Girl, then you should see these occurrences as their attempts to subvert the Lord, not correct it to his will.”

“A-alright?”

“Well thank you for this information, it has gleaned something enlightening for me.” The Cardinal leaned forward for a moment, “If you so desire it, I shall grant you permission to help the guard when you so desire.”

“Oh, thank you!” Maria exclaimed with a smile, “I will be leaving then.”

And like that the couple left, Albert seemingly a little bit antsy while Maria simply knew her goals forward. For herself, Maria could not help but continuously think about the man’s words and what they meant from here onwards.

However as Maria looked outside one of the frand windows, she noticed that the sun was finally deciding upon the Horizon, the moment that Melody told her to come get her dress ready. It was time to go to the ball.

>Go to the Servant’s Quarters to get dressed in the grand gown
>Go to Maria’s room just to double check all of her traps
>Head to the Town, as while the Ball is important an Inquisition must be formed!!
>>
>>4416723
I feel like the priest has forgotten the possibility that the demon's plans might require fate to be on track before they disturb it at a later date. Eg. Our original fate was to die or be exiled. That leaves our country devoid of proper leadership to defend against the Miaphate's main ground invasion route. After the credits roll, the Miaphate then storms at least half the continent because Lucien and Chloe (with Ford The Don't Kill Anyone as a commander of the armed forces) are too weak as leadership to stop them. Not that we can mention any of this to the headmaster right now...

sweet analogy
>>
>>4416941
Might be a bad idea either way since checking the traps teaches a spying bird how to check them for Chloe and showing them off might be luck for a bird. Or us setting one off is the luck and we miss the ball..
>>
>>4417159
We don’t need to touch or disarm most of them to check, but the only way the bird can check without us knowing is by the window
>>
>>4417171
That more than enough to alert about traps.

What is the advantage in checking outside of catching somebody in the act (even if it's via warrant) so that we can laugh at what happens next? We emptied the space of evidence. Anything they try to bring against us has an alibi. Eg potions has an inventory list and if they recognize they were used, then the evidence is invalid because there was no one around but themselves to prove it wasn't manufactured evidence. We probably aren't drinking anything tonight that doesn't come directly from a new bottle, so here's no worry of us being drugged by our own potions. The book itself is a mindfuck instead of evidence against us.

Personally, i'd just station a random maid to keep watch outside.

My bigger concern is that the QM basically revealed that we have a bunch of mail piling up that wasn't getting delivered to us because we had to pick it up for some reason and with a luck potion in the works, getting it delivered risks it spilling out in front of Chloe en route. We're gonna be busy tomorrow.

With that done Maria made her way towards the Servant’s quarters. Though the words of the Bishop continued to ring her head, she dismissed them for simply a fallacy. Surely Chloe was going to become a Saint, and that was the will of the Lord. That is what exactly happened in the original game anyways.

Still, she could not help but think about it.

Soon Maria arrived at the large place where all the maids interacted with one another. From just the corner of her eye she noticed a series of them talking with a furious fervor, probably about what will happen tonight. Since Maria was trying to keep herself atleast a minor secret, she simply waltz by the woman in favor of where she caught a glimpse of her maid.

“Oh, Mistress you have arrived!” Melody announced as Maria stepped into her corner of the room.

“Of course I have, now where have you stored my dress?” The Kingslayer asked with a hearty smile.

“Oh this way!” And with that Melody began her way down the halls, “So what happened today?”

“Oh nothing much. I went to church, hanged out with a few friends, and had the weirdest run in with some kind of illusionist.”

“An illusionist? Like someone who can cast magic?”

“I believe so, which can be a little worrying.” Maria admitted with a small sigh, “I do not really know who they are, well not yet anyways.”

“I am sure you will find out as soon as possible!” Melody announced as they arrived in a small storage room, “Here it is Mistress! Cleaned and everything you would need!”

“Perfect!” Maria gave a show before closing the door behind herself and taking of her clothing, “Let us began, shall we?”

“Yup!”

As funny as that would be, we were ripped from the heavens not the realm of the creator. There is already more than one afterlife in this setting.

And even if it were his realm we could just be a dead soul.

This game keeps giving me the urge to lookup when random stuff was invented.
Us saving somebody from choking to death for added drama would be way too cheesy if there are random horderves at the party.
Apparently before the heimlich was invented in the 70s, the official recommendation were either back pats (that kill a person by making them choke even more) or to slice the neck open and doctors would fuck that up and hit an artery to make the person bleed out.

Within about half an hour Melody had finally finished fitting the dress upon Maria. The difficulty was minor, being that only the corset really caused problems since neither of them really knew how to get it on Maria. Once that had been done though, Maria almost creid out in joy at such a nicely fitting dress.

The frame gripped her body only with a minor tightness, to which Maria called a comfortable one. Due to its making, the item also rested a large amount of the weight upon Maria’s hips instead of her back. Such an advantage gave Maria a grand amount of movement as well as a rescue from back problems.

“My Lord, Mistress, you look gorgeous!” Melody announced as Maria tested the feel of her gown.

“Indeed it is. I shall make my way shouldn’t I?” Maria said before thinking of something else, “And Melody, please go keep an eye on my room would you? Just in case.”

“Yup, I will get that done!”

And with that the two broke away. Maria traveled the halls with her head held high, the few people she passed stopped in their tracks to stare at her. Soon enough she arrived near the door of the Ball Room, to which she saw her friends talking. The first to notice her was Albert, and indeed he looked to have been taken aback greatly by the sight.

Maria wore a gown of a deep red, easily mistaken for being stained with the lifeblood of men who have only just been bled. Such a color complimented her golden necklace that held a purple amethyst and her hair that could only be seen upon the royalty of MaKain. Frills covered the dress to cover any seals available, however they did not deter from her exposed skin and bountiful bosom.

“Fufu, are you going to stand there slackjawed Albert, or will you escort me?” Maria asked the man with a coy smile upon her face.

“S-sorry, its just that you are… so beautiful.” He answered before walking up and taking Maria by the hand, “It would be my pleasure.”

“Oh sister you finally arrived!” Bon announced while bringing along Fein Kers who was obviously a little out of her comfort zone as sticking to Maria’s brother for assurance.

“Oh Maria, you look so good in that!” Elizabeth announced while Elric was just silent for a moment.

“Indeed, though sorry I kept you all waiting.” Maria admitted while flicking her hair, “Are we all already to go in?”
>>
With an affirmation from everyone else, they all went through the nearby open door. It was quite funny, the room going silent as one of the two most powerful and handsome cliches within the school entered the room.

First to appear was of course Elric and Elizabeth, both holding dejur power across the entire realm that they lived in. There was a sense of confidence within the man while escorting his date, indeed the man’s demeanor easily allowed him to be the perfect one for the job.

Next was Bon and Fein Kers. One was the heir to a Duchy who had proven itself so able as to defend against an entire invasion against Infidels. The other, one of the few children belonging to the powerful Kers family who even today still rages to take over the entire Morse lands.

Finally, while neither had any titles that they would likely inherit due to circumstance, were probably the most dazzling of the group. One was a simple man who was the eighth child to the Steward, however many had heard of his brilliant mind that could bring about a near industrial revolution to the Empire as a whole.

However next to him, wearing a most scandalous dress but somehow carrying herself so well that none even thought of that, was the Kingslayer and Daughter of the Dragon himself Maria Louisa Regnia. Her presence is probably what drew everyone towards her in this room, as many would rumor that she received a blessing from the Lord himself.

In the end few could deny a simple fact.

Hail the new rulers of the Lord’s Lands!

With their walk, soon enough everyone resumed back into their activities. Though for the most part the room felt to have been given quite the feeling of awe instilled in it, as they were partying it up with those who will be Dukes and Duchesses of the future.

“Ohohoho, did you feel that Albert?” Mari asked while looking towards her close friend.

“Y-yeah, that was something.” He admitted while scratching the back of his head, “Thats the first time something like that has happened.”

“That happens when people look up to you.” Maria claimed with a splendid smile to match her claim, “I believe for certain that it will not be the last time that happens.”

Soon enough they arrived at a place close to the dance floor, but of course not running upon it. Somewhere out there having a modest time with more game like dances, though Maria was certain she would not participate in them. Since well, she was not a very good dancer in her honest opinion.

“Things are looking pretty lively tonight.” Elric announced while turning to the group, “Though I kinda wonder where in the world Matheo went.”

“I think he was coming in the back.” Albert answered with a shrug, “He didn't really want to step on anyone's toes from what he told me.”

“Poor man.” Elizabeth said while looking around herself, “I wonder where Erica is too. She seemed really down yesterday.”

Before Elric could say anything dumb Maria came in, “Well if we see her we can check up on her. Though for Matheo I’d be more worried he insulted a guard on his way in.”

“I… hope he didn’t” Elric gave a simple application of hand to face with the thought of Maria’s suggestion coming to mind.

“Well if he’s your friends I am pretty sure he’d make it through.” Bon answered with a cheerful smile, “Though I’m wondering where Lucian and Loveheart are.”

“What do you…” Maria looked around for a few minutes to study the area, her vision quickly finding both Ford and Waltz leaning on a wall on the far end. However, just as Bon suggested there was an oddity in that neither were present.

“Worrysome.” Albert said what was on Maria’s mind.

As much as I want to interrogate those two, we can't be drawing too much negative attention to us since Chloe is probably going to confront us soon and we'll need all the good standing we can get. We've also been cultivating an appearance of being an unconcerned party in this whole business so being pushing now will be out of character.

Plus Waltz is the intrigue master of the capture targets - I want to avoid him intriguing us.

Once the ball is over we should try to nudge Mateo and Erica together. Or at least talk to Erica a bit to see how she's doing. The last thing we need are allies jumping ship.

(I wanna get that dance in before any random accusations start)

The good news is they took the bait, (woohoo) The bad news is they have a luck potion. (Oh no!. The thing is actually more dangerous before they use it than after since many people would be unable to move against them until the potion is gone)
Ford's probably the lookout for when we leave the party so that the golden couple don't get caught.
Hopefully there's a mingling chance before Chloe busts in. I wanna see who was interested in being an ally before we spin the accusations right around to make everyone terrified of going against us.

“Well that is not something we really need to care much about know do we?” Maria asked while giving her date a coy smile, “We have an event to attend and people to meet. Now is the time we meet those who can come towards our cause!”

“Oh, y-yeah I guess you are right!” Albert answered before following Maria into the crowds.

In such a situation Maria simply needed to figure out who exactly to talk to, and to that also who will talk to her. Such is the silly idea about human communication, in that while it takes only one side to initiate it most of the time neither takes the chance. While there are many reasons this happens, Maria had learned to negate most of them.

Indeed she had to learn, lest she become a minor character in history.

So when Maria noticed an older girl look her direction with a pair of well mannered eyes, <aria shinned an inviting if powerful smile towards her.

“My my, quite the dress you have there. If you are not careful you might lose all the men to such a style.” The woman who was dressed in a bluish black gown answered with a soft smile about herself, “May I ask where you got it?”

“It was custom made, and even then we both needed to experiment to actually make this item a reality.” Maria traced the lines with her finger in pride, “I can easily tell you where to get it.”

“Is that so, I would love that.” The girl said before giving a curt bow, “Vinnesa Relias, daughter of Duke Verask Relias.”

“Maria Louisa Rengia, Kingslayer and Daughter of MaKain’s Dragon.” Maria answered in kind.

“Maria… you are Bon Regnia’s sister! Which means you are the girl who has been hanging out with Prince Elric. Which means that makes you…”

“Uh, Albert Giovanna.” Albert replied while scratching the back of his head.

“My my, please relax. Well, unless your date here can get easily jealous.”

“If I was easily Jealous would I be wearing this dress?” Maria responded in kind, “Instead of wallowing in self pity, I instead choose to make such a grand existence that others will envy me.”

“I guess you have me there, and if I am to be honest I am quite envious of you. Though I am thankful to the Lord for gifting me with others.” The woman answered while making an all to settle motion.

We've gotta gauge things of a little more even if just to be polite. Jumping straight into prince talks might be rude and desperate looking.
Her knowing we've been hanging out with the second prince despite it only publicly happening twice today and 2 other times that weren't really secret, but still not attention gathering is interesting. Ergo she's got some good spies and we could learn from her techniques (or simply find a way to sneakily peek inside her information networks) unless she deduced it on her own which also makes her a good prospective ally due to intelligence.

She doesn't seem to be one of the big fish on the second prince's side, so new recruits might be good. She's certainly haughty enough to be of decent importance.

“Well if I must be honest, where exactly is your land? If I am bluntly honest I do not really know the Empire that well.”

“It would be to the west, near the realm of Lanloc.” The woman answered with a softening demenor, “And what of yourself? While I have heard of you, I am only aware MaKain is to the east.”

“Think of my realms as the borderlands between Holand, Tricyon, and the Miaphate. My people were strong enough to face off the Miaphate, and as such are now cemented in that position.”

“Oh my, such a dreadful thing!”

“It is, though I am forever endeavor to try and fix that.” Maria answered with a sigh, “So are you alone today?”

“Sadly that is indeed the case.” She answered with a sigh, “The one who I had gone with for a few years seems to have lost such little interest he already had. It honestly makes me feel like some old hag seeing it happen.”

“I’m… sorry to hear that.” Albert answered as if apologizing for all men in the world.

“It is alright, as it simply means I need to reconsider my situation.” She answered before quickly getting an idea, “I heard that you were held Prisoner in the Miaphate, am I correct Maria?”

“Indeed that is the case.” The Kingslayer began to grow quite happy with the idea, “You can ask me anything about it.”

“Well, I was simply wondering what it was like down there.” Maria could only give the girl a weird look as she continued, “Well, you see, it is so far away that I sometimes wonder.”

“It is obviously an odd place, that much I can say right now without issue.” Maria claimed without hesitation, “They tended to relegate their Servants to nobodies and place a high amount of their belief in their Lord. As for the little things, well honestly I can say the food was meh at best.”

“Really? Such a dour assessment.”

“Well I was a prisoner at the time, so I never got to travel the streets.” Maria admitted with another sigh, “Honestly if you were there are as a tourist I’d ask Albert here.”

“M-me? Well I have only been in the ports myself. The Food is a little much for me, but if you want something different I can recommend it.”

As Albert finished talking the music coming from the small orchestra present began to change their tune to that of a slow dancing tune. Looking quickly around Maria noticed how all the couples in the room were slowly making their way to the floor as to dance with their likely lovers.

If Maria was to dance with Albert, now would be the time.

“Oh, it seems to be our que Albert.” Maria said presenting her hand, “Shall you take my first dance?”

“Y-yes I will.” He answered while accepting it into his palm, “I am humbled to take such an honor from you, Maria.”

“Thank you.” Maria answered before giving a curious bow to their new acquaintance, “I hope to meet you again some time, Vinnesa Relias.”

“Indeed I hope so too.” She answered back, though Maria noticed the solemn expression the girl held. Indeed she while she acted content, Maria could guess that in truth she probably hated what happened to her.

And well, Maria had some guesses that needed to be confirmed.

Soon enough they arrived at the Ballroom Floor, where many of the Couples were starting to move about with skill and finesse. Maria and Albert taking a near edge position as they got into position for what Maria worried about.

“So, uh, if I gotta be honest I do not know how to dance very well.” Albert was the first to admit as he hesitantly wrapped his hands around Maria.

“Well, I need to admit that I do not know very well myself.” Maria claimed with a small cautious laugh, “Lets just, follow what everyone else is doing and continue from there.”

“I guess.”

[Agility Success]

And try they did, and to both their surprise they were not in ruin yet. Maria’s eyes were easily able to find what the others were doing and copying them. Thanks to her inherit skill gained from years of climbing about as well as the tailorship of her gown, well they worked together as best they could.

Of course there were some moments where Albert and even Maria stepped on eachother’s feet, but for the most part they were doing quite well. If given enough time and practice, say maybe a few more dances, Maria would be able to dance as good as everyone else. For Albert, likely the same in Maria’s honest opinion.

Soon enough the soothing music came to a calm and ending, which lead everyone to break away from their partners and give them a courteous bow.

Indeed, it worked out very well for what might have been Maria’s first time dancing.

Time to see Erica!
>>
As they finished dancing Maria looked around to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. People of course were wondering from one point to another, congratulating their partners just as Maria did. However if there was one thing that caught Maria’s eye was near Elizabeth and Elric, was a person looking longingly at them.

“Hey Albert, go meet up with Elric for a little bit. I need to do something.” Maria said as worry started to take her.

“Alright, yeah I will see you later than. I guess don’t take too long.” He said before slowly drifting his way towards his other friends.

With Albert away Maria made her way through the crowds to a rather lonesum Erica. Said girl was resting her head on the ground as another, Stacy, was talking to her. However Maria noted how Stacy seemed to just give up before walking away just in time to miss Maria.

With her approach complete Maria took the seat that was occupied by the one who just left, “Hey there Erica, I take it the Ball has not gone well for you?”

“Yeah…” She admitted as what Maria felt was an aura of depression.

“Well, were you able to get a glass of wine atleast?”

“Yup, first thing I grabbed.” She said while motioning to an empty glass next to her, “It doesn’t really help though, and I know it harmful to be in a drunken stupor tonight of all nights.”

“Indeed it would be.” Maria slowly inched herself closer, “So, I assume you are sad because of not getting your Prince?”

“Well, he's not my Prince now is he. He’s Lizie’s Prince.” She argued half heartedly.

“Are you not made for Elizabeth for taking him?”

“Why would I be angry when I was the first one to get a chance.” She answered before breaking down even more, “And I blew it! Right out of the water!”

“Well, thats good then.” Maria had to admit that atleast she was not trying to kill her friend.

“Yeah, I’ve never seen such a large smile on Lizie’s face since we were children. Though what am I going to do? I’ll be left behind both you and Lizie soon!”

I will go out there enjoy myself and see if any of them are fortunate enough to be graced with my presence. Understand? Good, now ignore Ford and Waltz. I intend to drive one of them mad and I hear the whole group thinks nobody can notice that they're all hopelessly in love with Chloe.

Was tempted to tell her that Elric was the one that messed up but I think i'm already pushing it by pointing out that politically she's the hottest thing on the market right now where some sneaky person could hear us.

“Come on now, Erica, you are speaking nothing but nonsense.” Maria quickly countered the girl with an affirmation, “Being down like this is as risky as drinking yourself to a stupor! I can easily see foolish men coming along and trying to take advantage of you like this.”

“Th-thats a little direct.” Erica said while looking up to Maria.

“But am I wrong?”

“No, you are right. Very right indeed.” Erica answered while picking her head off the table.

“Good, now I want you to repeat after me.” Maria championed with a courteous smile, “I am Erica Bell, Daughter of the Bellyor Duke!”

“W-why would I need to do that?”

“Oh come on already.”

“Fine.” She picked herself up completely, “I am Erica Bell, Daughter of the Bellyor Duke...”

“I am smart, charming to a fault, and a great conversationalist!”

“I-I am smart, charming to a fault and a great conversationalist.”

“Any of these young lads attending this ball would be lucky to have me so much as glance their way!”

Erica could not help but break a small smile, “Any of these young lads attending this ball would be lucky to have me so much as glance their way.”

“Now I will go out there and enjoy myself so that I can grace them with my presence and splendor!”

“Now I will go out there and enjoy myself so that I can grace them with my presence and splendor!”

“Ready!?”

“Ready!”

“Now come on!”

“W-wait-!” Before Erica could even get a chance to sit back down Maria grabbed onto her hand and both of them flew towards the silly party dances that were happening.

The next few minutes were a blur, since Maria was trying her best to keep up with everyone else. For Erica, well she lost her within about 3 minutes to the crowd of people. Honestly though it seems Erica has yet to leave the crowd, so Maria assumed that she was probably already doing good out there.
>>
After a little while though Maria decided to leave the dancing, as she was a little worn from the event. Indeed most of those people were probably already drunken off their asses, so of course they were all pressing themselves to the extreme ends of man kind’s potential.

Though as she did, Maria noticed someone coming from the corner of her eye towards her. Carrying two glasses in his hand, he finally arrived infront of her with a smile, “Would you want a drink?”

[Intrigue Success]

Something was off about this fellow but Maria accepted his presented drink anyways, “Thank you very much, I was a little worn from the ringer those people put me through.”

“It seems like it, drunken people can be a bunch of fools. Doubly so if you never actually see them sober up.”

“Sounds like a troublesome time.”

“Especially if they are your body guards, but I have no complaints as of yet.”

Since Maria was cautious she withheld herself from taking a sip of the drink, however the young man next to her consumed his own. Giving him a once over again, she again noted how he seemed off. It was subtle, extremely so, but Maria felt he had a presence in the room just slightly different then herself.

The golden couple have been gone for far too long. Maybe it's time to check our room and see the carnage or legitimately worry that they poisoned themselves with that vial?

>>4421758

I'd been considering a possible party crash by him to dump a wrench in our life but Miaphate people have a bit too much of a tan to not be recognized. Especially in anime land. At best he must be a really distant cousin since otherwise we'd recognize he's radiating power from foreign god that we wouldn't mistake for another. The main threats if he is from the miaphate are:
1.Assassin so that Solomon picks a wife already
2.Somebody came to pick us up for Solomon and QM was trying to hint that to us via the mail we never picked up.
3. If Solomon finds out we're taken then the main thing holding him back from invasion is gone if he has ambitions for NotEurope (unlikely in our world but this is a new world where they might want a foothold to stop other regions from doing crusades. I think crusades is unlikely since Elric didn't consider any of those when it came to military actions.)

Maybe another isekai dude, super young king, or a minor saint that's a bit cheeky. (in training or a trainer for us?) I feel like these options are more likely. That's assuming that nobility don't randomly radiate royal demeanor like power levels on Dragon Ball Z before blessings take place.

After this convo we've gotta decide if we want dirt on everyone being drunk enough to spill secrets or to see what damage Chloe has wrought.
>>
>>4421786
Tan? He's probably the king of the miaphate at this point with enormous powers at his command and you think he couldn't solve a problem like a tan?

He's a king of a country and a demigod, to think he wouldn't be capable of disguising himself is kind of just begging to underestimate him
>>
>>4421793
They CAN'T disguise themselves. That was the point of the prologue. They shit out demigod auras like they're a character in DBZ that can be seen from miles away. Our Father got tricked because a close relative of the Caliph was taking his place at the time. That's why I said it would have to be a distant cousin at most if we assume the divine blood gets diluted over time.
>>
>>4421796
No, they have an aura, but there was never anything said about not being able to hide the aura with magic.
>>
>>4421798
If that was possible then there would have been no need for Solomon's father to be a decoy. The entire point of Solomon's father being there was to make everyone too focused on him to notice the real Caliph sneaking up on everyone.
>>
>>4421801
No, he was meant to be a distraction and to make him distracted they needed bait with an aura.
>>
>>4421805
And they needed bait with an aura to distract because there was no way to hide his power level so that people wouldn't notice him sneaking up behind them.
>>
>>4421807
No, they needed that because armies are not sneaky.
>>
>>4421813
Having a giant beacon of divine aura shooting into the sky helps to make you not sneaky.

>>
Maria saw herself as an intelligent person, someone who is able to create a powerful scheme to bring down the potential downfall of a nation within only a week of thought and scheming. She was even patient enough to bring to the reaper an Emperor of an illustrious Empire.

So when faced with someone who only gave her a few details of his life, well Maria was easily able to figure out that not only was something up, but who exactly was infront of her.

Though she too can be subtle, “I would be hard pressed that they are drunken all the time. The Morse do tend to sober up at if the fighting goes on for long enough.”

The man only gave her a knowing smile, “Indeed you are right there, but I am not dumb enough to be right next to them whenever that happens.”

“Letting your Vanguard stand in front of you, how cowardly~”

“Is it being a coward if my death means the end of everything I worked for?” He gave a minor laugh while shaking his head a little, “It does not matter now, those who have called me a coward are dead and those brave enough faced the wrath of the Northern Men are too.”

All in all, everything he said aligned with what Maria knew of him, “How in the name of the Lord did you even get here?”

“I was on my way through to recruit some more of those drunken men, and I noticed this little Church was on the way. As for how I got in, well no one was really checking for a House Crest at the door now were they?”

“I will need to suggest they raise their security then, seeing as their biggest threat walked through the front door.”

“Indeed that is true, as I am pretty sure there are others here too.”

“Others?”

HIs face seemed to become a snear as if remembering something foul, “A person who has inherited the power of some lowly God.”

It was then at this point that the music once again changed, from the upbeat party to a tranquil series of strings. In response Soloman simply extended his hand towards Maria, “May I have this dance?”

[Conversation/Royal Demeanor Success]

Maria thought about it for a moment, as there was merit to dance with him. While yes she came here with Albert, it was quite taboo to have all three dances with him. As One dance is simply an acquaintance, two is either an engagement or being a highly interested escort, and lastly three dances are reserved for those who have wedded. However Maria would feel quite sad leaving Albert in the dust all of a sudden without mention.

Really starting to suspect we have an enhanced sixth sense here. We saw his dad's aura from over a mile away since we were kept away from the frontlines during the battle and Solomon didn't get caught by anyone when a single look would get him caught.

If it is Chloe getting power from an Ishtar/Aphrodite analogue we're in trouble since that means there's still the regular demon running about. Or is the demon powering Chloe?

Maria thought about it for a moment, her mind thinking for a moment. If Maria was to go with Soloman now, she would likely have a great chance to finish off the night with Albert. Hell, even if Albert was depressed now Maria was pretty sure giving him the last dance was surely rough to make up for it.

So Maria accepted his hand, “I will give you this one, if nothing else. Though due to circumstances I am only limited to this one.”

“Is that so? You hurt me just by saying that you know.”

“Says the man who likely has thousands of woman all cowering at your feet.”

“And what is the reason I cannot act on them?”

“Touche’.”

With that the two glided their way towards the floor, Solomon easily taking the lead at first due to Maria’s experience. However it only took Maria a few moments to catch up to his tune and match him. Indeed she could already tell Solomon was not very athletic, and as such was faced with a losing battle in terms of raw potential.

However in the end the two had to work together, which Maria simply admitted in the end. Was that not the purpose of dancing was to cooperate with your partner to perform at their peak?

However as Maria was enjoying herself she noticed sitting on the sidelines a depressed Albert, giving a face that pinged Maria’s heart.

“Worried about that man?”

“Him, well yes. He was the person who I came here with. Dancing with you was just an abrupt change would you not agree?”

“Going out with other men? And you said I could not pursue other girls.”

“I simply said to limit yourself to not taking any wives, you fool. Though keeping yourself for me for that long, well I guess that earned you a few points.”

“Turning love into a game, is this how most Lordsman think it?”

“Maybe, maybe no. You never know who holds the line of fate anyways.”

“Tsk… I guess you got me there.”

As their bickering ended Maria gave one final look, her feeling dampered by the simple bickering she had with Solomon. Count her surprise when she noticed a bernette haired girl who was slightly stumbling finishing her way towards Albert. Double that when said girl quickly grabbed the helpless man and quickly drove him onto the ballroom floor.

“Hmm, it seems Fate favors you tonight.” Solomon finished their musings as he too figured out exactly what was happening.

Indeed tonight was going on well, maybe even too well. Maria had a bet that Chloe or Lucien would have drunk the potion, which would in turn ruin whatever kinds of events Maria was experiencing. Indeed why wouldn’t they, since they were entering extremely hostile territory.

However that thought was cut off as the music finally died down, the strings finishing their melody. In response everyone, including Maria and Solomon, gave bows to one another.

Now, what the fuck is Maria going to do with Solomon!

He gave us interesting info, he's decently popular with everyone, tattling on him would be a bloodbath since everyone is fucking drunk out of their minds and/or a pampered noble that can't beat the contingent of bodyguards, dumping him on the spot could spark a full scale invasion if we don't handle it right, and you did point out that we can't dance with Albert too much or else it's scandalous.

Well we dodged a bullet there.
He's in a position where he could have done an absolute gigachad power move and basically bribe our god into starting an international shipping war against his own gods by offering to convert his entire empire if we marry him. Needs much better timing for something like that though since he'd basically break our heart due to us not having and choice about leaving Albert unless we wanna die.

Maria of course had quite a few thoughts about what she was going to do here, however in the end there was really only one thing she could do as of now, “Well Solomon, I must apologize now but I will be talking to you later. I need to head back to my friends and escort for the evening.”

“You make me sad.”

“Are you even able to become sad?”

“You make a good point, and I guess fraternizing with me is something unacceptable in this place even if I am in disguise.” He gave a simple nod as if in affirmation, “In about two-three weeks I will be traveling my way through back to the Miaphate. I wish to come by to visit you then and discuss a few things.”

Maria could not help but raise her brow, “Discuse a few things?”

As Maria invited explanation, the Young Emperor’s eyes became serious, “I have received your letter, luckily outside the purview of the Priest. Such a gaul it had, but what it presented was something I could not help but value in my conservation efforts.”

Before Maria could ask anything more Solomon turned around with a wave, “I’m going to fraternize a little bit more before heading out, if you do not mind. I’ll be sure to send a letter ahead of my arrival.” And like that he disappeared into the crowd while mumbling something about not being around enough.

With him gone, Maria decided to simply return to her friends. Indeed the first person she saw was Elric, helping to bring water to a panting Albert who looked worn out. Already the suspect seems to have fled the scene probably to party even more.

“So, was he an old flame or something?” The first to speak was to Maria’s surprise Matheo who was sitting next to the poor panting man.

“Not an old flame, more of an acquaintance from a few years ago.” Maria answered without betraying any of her other thoughts, “I see Albert met Erica?”

“Sh-she’s a devil or something.” Albert responded with a pained sore.

“More like she was extremely drunk.” Maria answered before turning to Matheo, “Maybe you should take the bullet next? You have no one yourself now do you?”

“Seeing Albert like that, I think I will pass.”

“Men have no sense of adventure these days it seems.” Maria said much to the annoyance of the other.

She's our new friend and we might as well see in person how their debut has gone.
I was tempted to tell Albert that we need to have a talk in private but I think that can wait until a later vote.
Acquaintance? Way to dig ourselves deeper when I was thinking of laying out what's going on to them tomorrow. Better to rip that bandaid off now before it actually descends into two timing Albert.
>>4423323
I personally figured she fell for a dye trap and/or couldn't come to the dance since she was snooping about with her dress on.
>>4423337
Seems fairly suicidal to break into a person's room and not immediately expect US to not attack on sight of an intruder. They're lucky that polearm isn't near the doorway if they tried that because it would be an immediate headshot as a reflex.
We might need to find out the answer to that old prompt about the empire's view of the Miaphate. Elric might be able to fidangle something like it being a diplomatic mission for Solomon so that this mine doesn't explode in our face multiple times.(Clearly Elric loves his dried fruit teas) If we're lucky Elric might even tell or lecture Solomon on how he screwed up so that he's not going around framing it as us being unfaithful to him. (He never said he loved us and only framed things as a political marriage until we had already found someone else. We might be crafty, but we are notably a softie when it comes to love.)
>>
>>4423387
>Seems fairly suicidal to break into a person's room and not immediately expect US to not attack on sight of an intruder.
You really want in full knowledge of who they are to kill the prince and another student?
Breaking into a room does not mean we get to kill them.
>>
>>4423393
No electricity. The room isn't going to be that bright when they're snooping around and when we enter. Outside of the bird we don't have enough light for identification. We just see two suspicious intruders in our room after we just got told some sort of ancient (possibly evil/nefarious) god has infiltrated the school grounds.
>>
>>4423393
>>4423400
Breaking into a room also kinda does mean that except one is a prince which might make mitigating circumstance of him being able to get away with it.
I think you severely underestimate how creepy it is for some random fuckwads you don't even associate with that you know hate you to break into your house. And this is after a party where we should be too drunk to fight back. NOT invoking fight or flight (and we're prone to fight) demonstrates a lack of awareness/safety I would expect from Chloe.
>>
>>4423409
Uh, no you don't just get to kill people that don't pose a threat just because they broke in. If you think they are a threat to you then sure, but doing creepy stuff is not enough to justify death.
>>
>>4423302
>Check up on where Bon and Fein Kers went.
>Tell Albert to be ready for the last dance
Also cannons confirmed in this world?
>>
>>4423412
Doing creepy stuff IS enough to justify it because it's in the middle of WHERE WE SLEEP. It might not be after they deescalate, (I'm still knocking their asses out and dumping them in a random dungeon for a few days) but immediate fight or flight instincts are extremely valid. I pointed out that it's extra dumb to do that to us since our instincts veer towards fight which can get them killed/maimed before they get a word in.
This is straight up serial killer/rapist shit if we end up catching them waiting for us in our room.Dumbasses are probably gonna be dumb enough to radiate KILLING INTENT too)Those are the scenarios that run through a head if a person(s) is sitting in the dark waiting for you. The GOOD outcome if somebody you aren't friends with does that to you is them just trying to kidnap you or being monumentally stupid. I don't condone murdering people that break into your house, but them waiting for us in our room/dorm is exactly how people justifiably get shot/killed if the homeowner is armed.

Maria took a few moments to look around for a moment, simply cursing her own luck as she could not see her brother and Fein Kers anywhere. Simply cursing that her luck seemed to be running out Maria she leaned into Albert with a simple smile.

“Hey Albert, rest up as soon as you can. You are getting the last dance with me.” And with that she made her way away, the boy obviously getting better at the aspect of reward being dangled over him.

With that done Maria made her way through the crowds, easily determining that no Bon and Fein Kers were no where to be found. So with that in mind, Maria traveled her way to the only other place accessible from the Grand Hall, the Grand Gardens.

When it comes down to it, the school was built like a much larger fortress. It of course could not be called a city or town, but its tall walls were built specifically for that kind of place. However much unlike them, they were nice and tall with enough wells to keep the people from going thirsty. It was a place meant to survive a siege for months.

Because of that many of the more fancy things were placed in a section away from most other facilities. Ranging from the cafeteria and minor classrooms, all were tied to the garden which was maintained by the Clergy.

As it was the same one Maria was within for quite a while, she easily knew where to look for potential wayward lovers. Of course she found where a few were, but Bon and Fein Kers were actually pretty close to the Grand Hall itself.

Seeing as they were getting close, Maria was more tempted to just lie in wait to see what was going to happen then rather go right into this little moment.

“Thank you sooo much for coming out here.” Fein said with a smile while keeping her grip on Bon.

“Yeah, things were getting too busy for me too. Living in a fortress for most of my life would do that eh?”

“Seconded!”

“So, uh, arn’t you going to let go of my arm?”

“Really? But they are so warm and lovely.” She answered before rubbing her head on it, “And comfee too!”

“Duh, uh-” Was about all Bon could give as he had obviously never experienced this much love and affection in his life. Now that Maria thought about it, she had surrounded herself with a bunch of fucking dorks in the end.

However that was short lived as soon cries erupted out of the Ball Room, Maria hearing the cheers easily enough. Obviously the two dreadful fellows had finally arrived at the last minute alright.

“Somethings happening over there.” While slowly making way to move.

“I guess must be that stupid Prince who tossed you out.” Fein answered before tightening her grip, “Go see him when you can stay here with me! Oh I am going to write that down later!” And like that she quickly took out a booklet while letting go of Bon’s arm for a moment.

Fein Kers and her priorities.

Either she messed her dress trying to spy in our room (I'm curious if she used the prince to convince melody to let her in, if she went alone or she went through our window) or perhaps they had some fun time together and lost the time (nah, what am I thinking, knowing what we know about those two. Unless... ?).

Maria is indeed surrounded by dorks it's great!

We need to jet. Lucien is extremely good at observation and might notice Solomon. If a sword fight or riot breaks out any side we fight on gets us in trouble. Or Solomon might say he's our fiance before we can break news to Albert.
>Tell Kers that men get scared easily. You have to ease them into things. Or they might like to pretend they're hunting a prize.
>I've had enough drama for tonight. I'm going to head out. I'll explain it to you later for when you write my life's story Kers. Bon please tell Elric that a bigger issue than his brother came up and we should all meet in the morning about it. Including you Bon.
>GTFO for Stargazing with Albert.

I'm trying to setup us having to break the news to Albert. And we'd eventually have to tell Bon and the faction if only so that we can brainstorm damage control.

You had 4 YEARS Solomon! You just had to say I love you or send sappy love letters once to even look like you'd fulfill your end of the contract and decided to jump back in the game near the end!

He's the king of enemy kingdom there are a ton of eyes on him and who he sends messages to. I don't think it is that easy for him to contact us without causing us a lot of trouble.
>>
>>4423794
True, but that's still the only thing he had to do. QM also said it actually solved a ton of political issues as a marriage,so even the priests might surprisingly go for it if they hadn't wasted the last few years trying to figure out which other suitor to back as his wife.
Framing it as a political marriage and not being earnest before he left dug him in the hole he's dragging us in today.

>Go see what the hell took those two so long

He still stayed true to us for years above what we even wanted from him and he accepted us not converting, despite not hearing from us for years and despite both of those causing him quite a bit of trouble by breaking tradition. I think he deserves recognition of those facts.
>>
>>4423806
He also came to the heart of our kingdom to visit us with just his bodyguard. If he's caught he is dead.

Seeing as her Brother was in good order, and of all things getting scared by how attached Kers was becoming Maria quickly opted to just leave the two be. Indeed Maria could trust the girl, as she was more or a starved romantic than someone who would actually go all the way. Hell, she said it herself that those people were dumbasses.

So Maria traveled through the Gardens once more, easily catching a small crowd who followed the sounds being made. It was something easy for Maria to hide within, giving her a nice view of the happenings that were inside.

Much to Maria’s immediate surprise, was the exact clothing Chloe was wearing. Indeed it was the same blue dress that she received from the tailor, however what looked to be a massive splash of black draped across it. It was in such a manner that it trailed from the left breast all the way to the bottom most part of her skirt, stopping at barely at the end.

It was easily proof that they broke into Maria’s room.

Finally the music came to a crescendo and allowed everyone to be dispersed. Such a case Maria quickly traveled her way towards her friends and comrades.

“Damn him...” Was the first thing Maria caught out of Erlic’s mouth as the man quite somberly mad.

“S-sorry I am not like Loveheart.” Maria heard Elizabeth say with almost shame in her voice.

“Pff, not when she comes in here looking like shes wearing the universe. Don’t worry though, I don’t mind something down to earth.”

Maria passed a blushing Elizabeth, finally making it to Albert. Such a man looked to have all strength shot out of him. Honestly it was unsightly of him, and indeed something that Maria would bother him about.

Such a time was now, “You still worn out?”

“Oh… Maria.” He looked over with a sense of exhaustion in his voice, “Yeah, I guess I am. I need to get ready for the final dance though, right? Maybe give me ten or fifteen.”

“I do not see much of a problem with that, it probably won’t be for a-”

However before Maria could even finish her sentence, the sounds of strings and brass began to sing in the room again in a soft and moving melody. The looks on Chloe’s face was obviously joyous with eyes wide, Lucien stoic. The only thing that looks out of place was her bird, who while perched on Chloe’s shoulder was trying its damnedest to look natural.

Looking over towards Albert, the poor man was worn out. Thinking of Elric, well Maria was pretty sure he just danced with Elizabeth twice and was not foolish enough to go for the third attempt as a Prince. The Lord above probably knows where Solomon is, but Maria had a pretty good knowledge that he was nearby.

Taking stock of her assets, Maria realized that if the attention stayed on them for too long that something very wrong might happen.
>>

I was actually gonna let Chloe start her accusations so that we could clap at her efforts and then call her an amateur for it as we either dismantle her "evidence" orLet her reveal us as some grand mastermind capable of manipulating everyone that knows all of their secrets due to our giant spy network because letting everyone in the school think we can blackmail or takedown every last one of them with us actually makes them want to save our asses instead of condemn us, but that whole premonition reeks of there soon being a mass mind ensorcellment of everyone who looks at Chloe/bird about to take place.

Might be time to start taking the gloves off and really go after Lucien's group tomorrow.

If the bird is an old god then I think I have a guess at the plot.
Demons and pagan gods were mentioned to try and steal power from the lord for their own. The bird is using Chloe as an attempted coup/siphoning against the state religion in conjunction with Oskar's pagan gods that also want in on the con. A saint as queen is certainly a good way to make a schism in the church ala protestants to rip a huge chunk of our God's worship away from it and redirect. The jester was sent to put things back on track by them which is why the bird showed up to lead Chloe to it. Chloe isn't the capturer of hearts, the bird is! She's just the beneficiary.

I'm probably overthinking that but it was fun to plot out.
>>
>>4424490
to add some of your theory, the bird also act as something like a mind control or lowering inhibitions, making the target either amplify or tame the feelings of a targeted person. This is probably why whenever Chloe and her bird comes into view, Maria gets angry for no reason even if we don't have reason too. Elric emotions made it confirmed too as well as Elizabeth whose self esteem came to a drop because she isn't good enough like Loveheart. Because the prince is like a corpse and has no feelings like it was a blank slate, it can be molded to the bird preference. With Ford's acting like an asshole and others, the bird is passively oozing with emotion amplifier. Solomon can taste it and know what it is. It's probably one of their gods that abandoned Miaphate to exact revenge to Austine gods.
>>
>>4424511
We need a potion. Potion that clears any mind controlling effects. We should give it to Ford but it's hard because he is too deep down the rabbit hole. But if we successfully isolate him and make him drink it, it would greatly help us. The only thing I could think of is kidnapping him.
>>
>>4424514
Nah, he was still naturally a douche before Chloe got to him and the children of the corn can be convinced we mind controlled him. Ford's a lost cause.
Would it be sacrilege if we got the band to play a holy psalm/prayer conveniently asking for protection against the heathens and/or temptation and essentially did a mass buff against short term mind control?

“W-wouldn’t any one be better than me right now?”

“Well I promised you didn’t I? So come, a few steps forward and I am sure you will feel brand new!”

“Alright, I will.” And with that he accepted Maria’s hand the once mellowed out pain ebbing away from his face.

With that they flew into the crowd, squishing their way through the thin membrane of bodies. With that they were easily able to see a few people populating the floor, though none stood near the center sans a prince and his lover.

“Chloe Loveheart, you are the light in my life. If I may ask now, can you give me this dance?” Lucien asked while kneeling before the girl who looked to have come from an entirely different world.

“Y-yes Lucien! I would love it! Though I don’t really know how.”

“Don’t worry, I can lead us.”

With that they embarrassed eachother to dance, Obviously Lucien taking the lead while Chloe was basked in his glory. However Maria did not care much and instead turned towards her friend and close confidant.

“Are you ready Albert?” Maria dared to ask with a force of will that brought nearby people’s eyes straight towards them.

“I am, I will not disappoint you I swear!”

“I know you will not.”

And with that they entered the floor, poised to try and sway the prestige away from the Royal Couple.

I guess we probably should have tried something silly/scandalous like dancing with a waiter or knight if we went the dancing route, but we might have looped back around into failinng that roll so ard we got attention anyway..

Yeah, honestly kinda sucks you guys didn't roll anything less than a 50. Well, time to see how Chloe does and the aftermath.

At least the 4th roll was less than our agility but still
>>
So the dance began, Maria trying her best to perform in the art of social warfare through being the most prosperous couple there. Forward one, back two. Such was the rhythm of their dance that Maria tried to match the rate of everyone else.

It only took Maria a moment to realize that Albert, her partner, was not keeping up very well. His feet were skipping about and sometimes even being dragged behind himself. Yeah he was not fairing very well, so Maria slowed herself down a little bit with a tinge of shame.

“S-sorry Maria. I should probably exercise more.” Albert said with a silly but sad smile.

“No, its alright.” Maria answered with a sigh, “Let’s just have a good night.”

The reason why Maria said this, was because the silly shit that was happening over at Chloe’s dance. While they had a strong, epic beginning that would have been one of the history books, well she too did not know how to dance.

Of course it was much better than Maria’s little cheraid, but it was pretty obvious who was leading the two of them. Lucien was of course experienced, likely taught at a very young age to perform best of his peers and probably could give many professional dancers a run for their money. That did not bring into account that Chloe did not know the closest thing on how to dance.

Though Maria had to laugh a little, as the First Prince seemed to be struggling with Chloe's sheer ignorance.

Still, Chloe looked to be having fun and Maria guessed thatch about all the luck can give. Now that Maria thought about it, a Potion of Luck can only go so far. It's luck, not becoming a professional in a bottle. If anything, it would make everyone around her look mediocre so that she herself, who was doing above average, looked to be a shining star.

At least no injuries were received because of that damn thing.

Soon enough the music turned down, leaving everyone seemingly with the desire for more. Maria would swear she was hearing someone laughing out the door, but as of now she did not care what the Heathenistic fool thought right now.

“Alright, can I sit right now. My hip is starting to hurt.” Albert said while the music had turned to a low ambiance.

“Sorry about that, I didn’t realize you were an old man.”

“Tsk, I’m just lucky I did not pull something here!”

Huh, maybe someone did get injured?

>Stick around a little longer to talk to friends
>Suggest the two of them go out star gazing.
>Just head back to Maria’s room so she can see the damage.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, rolled shit. Lowest was a 27 for Chloe, who does not know how to dance. Ford, 81...

It looks like Chloe is going to go to the headmaster with her information tomorrow so the ball itself might be safe to from an accusation event.
>Stick around a little longer to talk to friends
Albert, did you notice anything.. unusual about everyone's behavior when she came in?

(We might be able to slightly dispel the mind altering effects on people. If we can do that we have a sudden influx of witnesses who can corroborate how unusual everything was for us and at the least it'll prevent Elric from arbitrarily giving up the throne while under mind control because lucien "defeated" him at a dance.)

eg Our friends were possibly getting "goaded" into bullying events so that we could be accused as the mastermind but our responses stopped them. They don't seem to have a malicious bone in their body for anyone or anything else. I mean they had love triangle NTR and there was no pettiness whatsoever.

when we head back to see the damage, call the popo on Chloe for breaking and entering (if we're told it aint a crime or it's not punished we have casus belli to just rampage through every room in the entire faction.) so that she's arrested tomorrow morning when the luck potion has hopefully worn off and we get a chance to inform the headmaster of suspicious going ons.

Reporting the break in also means any evidence they might have planted (since we left no usable evidence) becomes invalid.

Honestly even if she found anything it would be worthless. I mean who was there to corroborate that Chloe did not just plant the evidence to frame us.
>>
>>4425181
I get that. the thing here is she has outright mind fuckery instead of minor love manipulation. Things just took a seriously sinister turn with tonight's performance.

I also checked back on chapter 3 to see what the demon prophecy called her and
the emergency demon cultist meeting said
>Attention Brothers and Sisters,

>It seems the Lord wishes to push the meeting forward by a night, sighting that the hands of men wish to crush us. Thus we must complete the ritual that will surely ensnare both them, and those above us to our cause!

>Another Brother

Then when we got back the papers showed up and tried to tempt us. We haven't seen them since. There is a distinct possibility that Chloe got the demonic papers and her abilities and personality are being twisted since she's the second target.
This means that instead of being a naive idiot we have to deal with, we have a person that will mindrape everyone when she presents her shaky evidence into taking it as fact and us getting killed for being in the way.
The only reason it hasn't worked before is because the headmaster has actual resistance to any attempts.
>>
>>4425181
Ps. The completely mind whammied PRINCE is there to corroborate.

Who is clearly biased in her favor and our reputation is just as big as his.
>>
>>4425215
He still has more political power since it's his country we're in. We are a small and not that important country outside of defending our border. I can easily see a GoT situation where nobody cares or knows about the "wall" maintenance since they don't have to live with it personally. We're notorious in the school and we still have to explain where we're from.
>>
>>4425239
No, he has not. First we have the other prince on our side and also we have the church from which the princes derive their power in the first place.
>>
>>4425242
The other prince is getting scrambled right now. we'd have to exorcise him first.
>>
I just realized how hilarious it would be if Chloe appeared with the demonic book at the headmasters office tomorrow as proof of our sinister schemes.

Just for the headmaster to ask her why she stole a dangerous item that we kept to keep others safe.
>>
>>4425261
Doesn't matter our reputation alone with the church is enough that they need more than one prince who is enamored with her to prove anything.
>>
>>4425262
The demonic book teleported after we refused its offers.
>>
>>4425271
Pretty sure after we tried to get rid of it, it teleported back to us. We locked it up because apparently as long as we possess it, it doesn't teleport and it is harmless if ignored.
>>
>>4425275
You forgot the part where it went away despite being locked in a box after all of that. That thing has been on the loose for several threads and it might have corrupted Chloe.
>>
>>4425271
I read it again and first it teleported back to us after we tried to get rid of it. Then it disappeared when we locked it away.

Shit got real and PTSD from demons mind controlling our friends into blood sacrifices gets in the way of romance. Romance is important, but we aren't like Chloe, we aren't going to happily live in a fantasy world while bad things are going on in front of us.

“You should probably head back to your room then.” Maria mentioned to the young man who was not acting like a worn out man.

“Y-yeah you’re right.” He said before teetering his towards the doors, “My nice fluffy covers sound awesome right now.”

As Maria watched him drift away like some kind of undead Maria decided to make her way next to Matheo, “Hey can you make sure Albert makes it back to his room alright?”

“What, is his girlfriend not going to?” Matheo asked with a cynical smile.

“You know as well as I do that would be scandalous.”

“I guess you are right. Fine, I’ll guide him home.” Metheo said before making his way next to Albert and lended him a shoulder to brace himself on, “Come on, I’ll die if we don’t get back soon enough.”

With that done Maria quickly made her way down the halls, weaving her way through the small crowds that formed. Alot of couples at this time seemed to have started splitting apart, chances are either going to each other's room or simply to have a nice way to finish off the night.

For Mari however she had something in relation to these people, though the reason was likely very different.

Quickly she traveled through the cold winter air, crossing the slabbed streets directly to the Women’s dorms. Quickly she scaled the stairs, which allowed her to arrive at her room in which Melody was standing outside of with a pouting face.

“Hello Mistress… sorry, I was not able to catch them.” Melody answered with a sadness in her voice.

“Let’s head in first, and then you can tell me.” Maria answered, to which her Maid nodded and opened the door behind her.

Inside, much to Maria’s surprise, was a modestly clean room. Her eyes noted a good amount of the instruments and traps were disabled, though the one on the window was clearly tripped. However one of the things Maria noted her bundle of potions was opened along with the book itself opened wide.

Maria of course smirked upon seeing the blood upon the pages.

“So, what happened? You said you were not able to get them, so did something happen?”

“Well, uh, yes.” Melody admitted with obvious bother, “A-a small flock of birds came into the hallway and… started to throw peanuts at me.”

“What?”

Melody looked quite saddened and motioned towards the small pile of waste next to her. Indeed there were peanuts, but so were there dozens of other things that a simple bird should be throwing at Maids.

Maria simple shook her head and got ready to flip herself onto her own bed, but of course not before disabling the trap she set upon it. She confirmed they were in here, but what exactly did they make off with Maria does not know.

She would simply sleep for now…

Alright, that's it for this thread. I know its a little early, but I genuinely expected you guys to do romance stuff. Though I can more or less say the next thread will be on Sunday night unless something dumb happens.

Expect the next thread to finish up this little arc and then preparations for the next one. Since as you know, Winter Break shall be upon us!
>>
>>4425453
So even with the luck potion disabling the other traps in her path she still caught her finger in the razor, interesting
>>4425455
Ok OP, waiting warmly for the new one.
>>
>>4425455
Does... Chloe not realize we're seeing past her bullcrap? Like this is so obvious that I think she's getting arrogant/blatant.
>>4425472
And that one ink trap. It's very worrying that she may have read that her lover may have half a soul and she came out beaming at that party.
>>
>>4425484
Should we try to report to the headmaster that Chloe bird is Miaphate deity who is trying to ursurp Agustine powers against us? That we have the info from a former Miaphate clergy?
>>
>>4426999
That info ain’t that solid so hold your horses
>>
>>4425472
Isn't necessarily just her. And isn't necessarily her blood.
>>
>>4426999
From what I know Chloe inherited the power of a lowly pagan god that was displaced by the kingdom, not the Miaphate. The bird was a spirit advisor under them and Solomon never said what kind of lowly god it was.

And I in our case wouldn't volunteer to information that we are still in contact with people from the Miaphate as that could easily lead to questions we can't answer.
>>
>>4426999
We have no such confirmation and that's only going to get us in trouble. Half the problem is explaining everything without a giant post.

What we do know from last night that we can tell the headmaster is:

Her bird is some sort of pagan spirit guardian no longer used by people as we have the church for protection now. Unfortunately not much else is known to our source.

We are still prone to minor mischief so we set a series of childish traps in our room.
Chloe and Lucien were missing for several hours at the start of the ball only for Chloe to show up with evidence that she had fallen for a trap on her dress (the ink) and a strange grin.

Nobody noticed and the whole ball started to act like they were humans being puppeted for some performance in lockstep just outside of reality to cater to a delusion.

This was our first time seeing her capturing hearts on display and It greatly disturbs us as we had assumed her capturing hearts would be less out of touch with reality due to her general innocent personality and saint candidacy. While we don't get along, we had thought better of her than to expect something like that.

When we got back our maid reported being unnaturally attacked by a swarm of birds, most of our traps were disabled, and a certain page we had not mentioned to anyone out of respect for his highness's privacy had clearly been seen. (Show the Valor page with a ruler under it or something to highlight the prince's entry while hopefully hiding ours unless we wanna take some scissors to cut the page out. Have scissors been invented yet?)

We had believed his revitalization when he met Chloe to be a manifestation of the miracles Chloe could do as a future saint candidate but since the page had clearly been seen and she came to the ball with a smile on her face despite this shocking revelation we are understandably worried. The saintly Chloe we thought we knew would be worried for her partner instead of beaming minutes later at the ball. We probably don't have to tell the priest that Lucien's half soul makes him more vulnerable.

Now we need a reason to realize the next part so I'm thinking we do one of those chalkboard crime drama scenes with the Elric and company so that we have backup that knows what happened if Chloe gets us jailed.

We get the revelation that the demons were after us AND Chloe. Chloe may have been fooled into accepting their offer to gain what she was already going to have by destiny, the love of the first prince.
The demon part is only a theory, even if we get that part wrong, something is definitely off around her.

I'm not sure what's going on with whomever the headmaster used as spies, but I find it funny that a random waitress is the only other person to resist Chloe powers enough to notice something weird that we know of.

Melody will probably be sent as a messenger to tell the headmaster of the break in and get us an appointment.
