You are Shinji Matou, eight years ago you suddenly found yourself with the memories of a complete past life that saw this world as a fictional story due to some unprecedented form of inter-dimensional transportation. Since that day, your new composite being has been working to change the grim future laid out for you.

To that end, you have done much, involving yourself with events and situations that have hopefully already shifted the future away from one which will feature your violent end, and have massively shifted it towards one that will have a completely different outcome in store for you, be it positive or negative.

Currently, you are in the Einzbern Castle in Germany, getting to know Illyasviel von Einzbern, the Lesser Grail and the Master of the Einzbern in the Fifth War after managing to secure an alliance with the family, promising the help them in the war. Though your true intentions really have nothing to do with helping the family achieve their goals. You're only really here for Illyasviel.

"Actually, I did bring something with me that you might find interesting." You reach into your really rather expensive suit jacket and pull something quite conflicting with your appearance out of the inside pocket. A Gameboy Advance. "This, Illyasviel, is something I often use when I'm bored on long trips." You hold out the device for her to take a look at, and she gently takes it out of your hands to inspect it.

Illya looks a little confused by the sudden appearance of the gadget. "What's that Shinji? Some sort of remote viewing mystic code?" She gives her best bet at actually guessing what the device is. "I can hardly see why you'd find that exciting. If I wanted to do something like that I could just ask Grandfather and he'd let me see the entire Einzbern forest! But... nothing interesting happens in that forest anyway." She takes a closer look at the Gameboy regardless of her confusion of the hand-held console as a mystic code. "It's an awfully strange looking design though. Why does it have so many buttons?" Illya's curiosity increases as she takes a longer look at the console, but you can't really keep her guessing as to the truth behind the small device for very long, as cute as she might look when she's confused.

"Because it's not a mystic code at all, Illya. This is actually a piece of technology made by the modern world for the sake of entertainment. It's called a Gameboy Advance and it's used to play all manner of games." You give her a quick explanation as to the purpose of the device but not really the mechanism behind it. Hopefully she'll be impressed by the device. You don't mind giving her your Gameboy Advance and the copy of Pokémon Ruby currently inside it if she likes it.

"Play games? But how... and what kind of games would you even be able to play with something like that?" Illya's interest in the device increases by a large amount upon hearing of it's function. Clearly she's far more excited at the prospect of a games console than she is at the idea of it being a remote viewing device. Though that would be a quite nice Mystic Code to have. Though you haven't yet bothered to learn how to create any familiars for yourself yet, nor have you learned any methods to do so. While you easily could should you want to, it's completely pointless to do so while you're still having your magical energy suppressed by the necklace.

"Oh, you can play thousands of vastly different games by yourself on it, actually. It's really a wonder of modern technology. If you have multiple of them, you can even play games together with people!" At this point you sound like you're just giving a sales pitch for the Gameboy.

"T-thousands?" Illya repeats in awe that the device is capable of doing so much more than she originally expected of it.
>>
"Well I only brought one with me today, but I'll show you how to play it, you might enjoy it!" You have Illya hand you the Gameboy and you boot up the device. Illya's eyes shine with excitement as the screen flickers to life and starts blaring out the boot-up sound, before it immediately crashes. There's a silence in the room, Illya still looking expectantly at the crashed screen. "Just... bare with me for one moment." Illya watches with an amused look on her face as you blow on the cartridge and then on the slot for the cartridge. Official advice be damned! If it works, then it works! You flick the device on once again, and this time the game boots without issue, the startup screen playing it's animation and various Pokémon show on the screen. You quickly erase your game before handing the device back to Illya after selecting 'New Game'.

"W-what am I supposed to do?" Illya is clearly going to need a tutorial behind the device, it seems. Hopefully she's not as completely hopeless when it comes to technology as Rin is. She thankfully seems to understand things after you give her a quick rundown of all the controls and buttons of the device. "So... I select my name like this, right?" It's been about fifteen minutes since you handed Illya the device and she's finally selecting her name after selecting the female trainer. Oh well, she's having fun at least. She does quickly start to get the hang of the game though, and before long has started progressing through the game in earnest. You aren't really sure what Acht is going to think about this, but you genuinely could not care less about what Acht would think. Of basically anything, but especially in regards to Illya's well-being. He's the one responsible for Illya's intended fate, after all. He's the one responsible for summoning Angra Mainyu, too! "Ha! I won, Shinji! Illya manages to defeat the rival trainer while you think about how Acht and the maids will take the introduction of technological entertainment into the Einzbern. Eventually, hours end up passing while Illya happily plays the game and you talk with her about things, then the light on the corner of the screen goes red, indicating the device has low battery. Illya doesn't know what it means, but is intelligent enough to surmise that it probably means something bad, so she looks up at you, her face slightly worried.
>>
"Ah, you might want to save your game, Illya. The Gameboy runs on batteries, and you're almost out of charge. You're fortunate that I brought a few sets of batteries with me, otherwise you wouldn't be able to play anymore." You reach into your pocket and end up pulling out an 8-pack of AA Batteries. Enerloop brand. You didn't actually plan on this happening at all, yet the coincidence does bring a smile to your face. Illya does as you say, and no sooner than she's finished replacing the batteries, the door to the room opens and a maid walks through. You don't think it's Sella, and you can tell that it's definitely not Leysritt...

"Master Makiri. It is getting late. I have been assigned as your personal maid by Lord Jubstacheit for the duration of your stay here and have been commanded to escort you to your room." Hold on a second, you think you recognize her now, despite the nigh identical appearances of the Einzbern, you have noticed minor differences in their personality and body language that allow you to somewhat discern her identity. It's really thanks to your own massive amounts of training your body and your own speaking skills that you can even make the guess, and even then it's really only a guess.

"Very well... Giselle, was it?" The maid smiles faintly as you get her name correct, looks like you got it right. "Illyasviel. Feel free to keep the Gameboy. You seem to enjoy it." You decide to relinquish the Gameboy Advance to Illyasviel in it's entirety. It's not like you can't buy a new one anyway, besides, this way you can even show off the link cable to her next time you see her.

"Really? Thank you, Shinji!" This is the most excited you've seen Illya since you arrived at the Einzbern Castle. She's positively buzzing at the idea of being able to keep the device.

"But don't forget that you'll need somebody to buy AA batteries, otherwise you won't be able to play it when the batteries I gave you run out of charge!" You call out to Illya as you leave the room with Giselle. You've no real doubt that Illya will be able to convince one of the maids to leave the limits of the Einzbern's land to purchase batteries for her, it's really just a shame that you won't be able to see the resulting quest of whoever gets sent.

"Follow me, Master Makiri." Giselle leads the way to your room, and after about a minute of walking, you begin to grow a little tired of the silence of simply being escorted to your room, and looking at Giselle's back as she slowly walks in front of you, you...

Supporting this one.
Enter the Homunculi Harem Route.
First Giselle, then Illya, then Sella and Leysritt, then the rest of the homunculi. Then we bring Irisviel and Justeaze back to life to cuck Kiritsugu and Zouken. Then finally Sieg-kun.

Lol.
I can't believe we've made Illya wanting Enerloop batteries canon. What are we, a Carnival Moment?
Shame she had to start with Gen 3 Pokemon though.
I'm glad she liked it at least.

Bros...
I'm really thinking about it...
Honestly...did we really do all that much for Sakura?
Like, we've made her early life better by being there for her and spoiling her like a princess, but it's not like we've stopped her from getting tortured for the past several years. We introduced her to Shirou but she would have done that on her own anyway. We haven't made her more confident or more able to handle life on her own. We've been gallivanting around the globe doing things to set up for the war, and sure that's very important don't get me wrong, but while we were doing that Sakura has been going through the same old shit she always does.
I guess having someone close by that can act as the light at the end of the tunnel and really encourage you to keep strong is always a good thing. But Sakura was always a pretty hopeful and strong person anyway, so what has Shinji really done here?
You know, besides make her emotionally dependent.
What if Shinji, despite his best intentions, is actively making her life worse?
>>
>>4372430
There’s only so much we can do. Everything we’ve done so far has been to aid helping her
>>
>>4372430
>You know, besides make her emotionally dependent.
She would have just been dependent on Shirou otherwise. At least we actually aren't as dense as Shirou is.
>>
>>4372430
Not many wanted to improve our relationship with Sakura either, for some reason.
>>
>>4372430
Anon, there's only so much we can do for her, remember, we're still likely unable to do anything against Zouken. I mean, I wanted to send Kerry after Zouken but apparently a good chunk of anons have a hate boner for him and voted until we would abandon him.
>>
>>4372438
Fuck those guy(s)
>>
>>4372438
Kerry can't exactly do anything really. Zouken isn't someone you can simply shoot or overpower. If it was that easy we wouldn't have so many problems with him.

And after Kerry dragged the Einzberns into it, it just wasn't worth it anyway. We literally got WoG that following him in his crusade would have been insanely deadly aka a really bad idea.

>She would have just been dependent on Shirou otherwise.
That's kinda what I mean. This would have been a perfect time to make her not that! To make her not emotionally dependent on Shinji, Shirou, or anyone else. To help her be a more mentally healthy person in general. And you say we aren't as dense as Shirou but what are we doing right now? The odds of Sakura not getting with Shinji is very very likely and we've done nothing to prepare her for that possibility. If anything she'll be worse off than she is in the Fate and UBW routes!

>>4372437
I think many people thought "improving" our relationship would be waifuing her further, rather than...well spending more time with her.

>>4372438
I honestly doubt there was anything we could have done to get Kerry to go after Zouken rather than run after the Einzberns. Even if we would have stopped him from running off on his own when given the chance, the idea of us then telling him to go after this other impossible to kill big bad instead of the one that has his daughter hostage seems pretty nutty. But at least your heart was in the right place.
>>
>>4372464
Being mentally healthy isn’t a possibility when you spend your life as a worm fuck toy
>>
>>4372464
Sakura did just fine in both UBW and Fate endings, despite not being with Shirou. She will be okay. We don't need to go overboard over the present since we are already working hard to solve the cause of her suffering. It's imo much more productive than spending time with her without reason, as that's just ameliorating the symptoms rather than finding a permeant cure.
>>

Anon, I wanna have fun and live on the edge while playing a quest, its boring as shit if we just train and don't do anything risky that might benefit us. Plus it might be interesting to see what a Bad End looks like

>>4372449

>>4372464
Look, I just wanted to either try to stop him or at least up the odds somehow. Saving our friends is on the top of my to do list much more than just training until we become essentially immortal. But we'll never know what we could've done now
>>
>>4372464
>I honestly doubt there was anything we could have done to get Kerry to go after Zouken rather than run after the Einzberns.
I don't know about Zouken but I feel our big mistake was telling him about what was going on with Illya, if he didn't think she was currently at risk he might've postponed his next attempt at least long enough to ensure Kirei was dead instead of making it a rush job in order to go save daddy's little girl.

Maybe not, but literally any attempt could have been made rather than just shrugging our shoulders and letting it happen. Shinji has been in the perfect position to help her and the fact that we haven't even tried it is kinda heartbreaking.

>>4372476
>Sakura did just fine in both UBW and Fate endings.
It has been a while since I've played Fate Stay Night, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but in one arc she all but disappears from the story, in the other, she falls into a deep depression, and in Heaven's Feels route it's all but stated that she basically NEEDS Shirou to be truly happy in life.
Please tell me I'm retarded and I'm just misremembering things. Please.

>>4372477
>Saving our friends is on the top of my to do list
All I'm saying is saving the characters we like from death is all well and good, but as we've seen from the disaster that was that whole situation, saving them from death doesn't necessarily mean they'll live happy lives afterward.
You might want to blame that on samefags, but I don't think trying to "save" Kerry the way we did would have led to anything good.

>>4372479
>I don't know about Zouken but I feel our big mistake was telling him about what was going on with Illya
I have a really really strong feeling that simply stopping him from dying rather than trying to help him find fulfillment in his life beforehand was where shit really went wrong.
>>
>>4372494

Tell me about it, as important as she is to his decisions she's lucky get more than a mention per timeskip if that, but I guess that's what happens when any outcome that doesn't keep her as a background character and has her getting directly involved in major events can be summed up as 'mistakes were made'
>>
You yawn and stretch before you begin speaking to the dutiful maid escorting you to your room. "You know, Giselle. You're awfully strong. If you hadn't been forced to hold back in that fight, I never would've beaten you. You could've killed me with a single bare handed blow." Let's see how she responds to being praised for her fighting ability, shall we?

"Of course, I was created with physical strength as a core part of my being. It is to be expected that I should overpower my enemies in totality. If I was unable to, I would be deemed as a failure." Despite the praise you give her, Giselle seems completely non-plussed. "I am of course thankful that Lord Jubstacheit did not deem it necessary to dispose of me due to my inability to defeat an unarmed opponent incapable of using magecraft. This too is testament that despite my failures, I am still a homunculus of the highest quality." There's a hint of pride in her voice as she says that.

You feel a little sick when Giselle mentions being 'disposed of' with so little emotion, almost as if she considers being used and destroyed at a whim to be a perfectly natural and normal thing. It disgusts you, that they would think so little of their own lives in order to simply act as tools for the Einzbern. But you certainly can't hate the homunculi for being this way. Fully sentient life created and taught during their very creation to act as slaves all for the sake of achieving a millennia old wish. "Why would you be disposed of? It was just a friendly spar, and you really are incredibly powerful!"

"All that spar did was prove that I am incapable of incapacitating a normal human being. It is a point of shame that I will never forget. Being defeated by you." All of a sudden, the conversation seems to be taking a turn towards painting you in a negative light. That you were somehow in the wrong for defeating the woman, it was in the end a challenge of proving your own worth by diminishing Giselle's own, when you think about it.

"H-hey! I'm not a normal human at all! I'm a champion martial artists! Don't try to say that our spar was a measure of your incapability to do anything!" You try to convince Giselle to think of things in a more positive way.
>>
"You... You called me unskilled." Giselle actually seems to be somewhat upset by merely recalling what you said during your fight with her. In truth you were just showing off, but it seems like your opponent has really taken what you said quite seriously. "And I must agree. My own skill is irrelevant. My combat strength would be non-existent without the physical power of the body I was created with." This conversation is actually going in the complete opposite direction that you hoped it would. "We've arrived at your room, Master Makiri. Shall I show you in or do you no longer have need of me?" She changes the subject with ease as she turns to face you in front of a door before you even get the chance to try to correct her on the praise you gave her. Damn it!

"Actually Giselle. I want to ask you to do something else for me." She remains silent as she awaits your orders. "Could you... remove your hood?" You'd really like to be able to compliment Giselle on something more major than just her body language, so her hair is really your only option her. She doesn't ask for any confirmation or clarification on your request, and simply takes off the hood that was concealing her long silver blond hair, it's slightly wavy and extends past her shoulders. "I just wanted to see your hair, actually. I much prefer you without your hood on, Giselle, it's really a crime that you are forced to wear that uniform which conceals your beautiful hair." It really is beautiful, actually. You were honestly a little bit taken aback by how beautiful Giselle truly is when she's not wearing the frankly silly looking uniform of the Einzbern.

"I... thank you, for your kind words." Giselle this time clearly doesn't know how to respond, and manages only after some effort to grind out an awkward thank you along with a faint blush. It seems that complimenting her on her appearance is a far more effective way of making her happy than complimenting her on her strength. Especially after she lost to you. It's annoying though, Giselle really is tremendously strong!

"If you don't mind me asking, Giselle. What is it that you actually get up to in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?" There must be something that the maids and butlers of the Einzbern do when they aren't fulfilling their duties.
>>
"We homunculi are not permitted to engage in such flights of fancy as that. When I am not on duty, I rest. That is what I was created for." It actually stings a little to know just how much that Giselle's development as a living being has been stunted. She thinks herself to be nothing more than an automaton that exists to fulfill the wishes of the Einzbern, but you've really just proven to yourself that Giselle at least has emotions of her own.

>"Thank you Giselle, but I must bid you goodnight, I no longer require your services for the day."
>"I wouldn't mind if you showed me around the guest accommodations actually, Giselle."

Kerry is...helped, We're already pretty rich and are bound to get richer by the end of the war without any input, Shirou is a fucking powerhouse in the making and our connections with the Einzberns and folks like the Fujimura are firmly established. We can find time to focus on Sakura a bit just to make 100% sure she'll be alright and not fall into a doom spiral when neither Shirou or Shinji pick her for waifu, can't we?

I have a feeling she might be overly resistant to the idea of playing a game with us, so talking with her as she does her normal duties should allow us to get through to her easier.
We might run into some of her sisters as well which should be good.

Looking at the maid standing statue still outside your room's door, you sigh and shake your head. You have to make this right. "I apologize for my earlier comments, Giselle. I might not be here for very long, but if you would like, I could teach you the basics of my fighting style in order to prevent you from losing to another person like me." Really, it's the least you can offer her now that you realize just how poorly she took her loss to you. Giselle was created solely with the defense of the Einzbern in mind. That she lost to you under those circumstances must be soul-crushing for her, while the fight was put to a stop before it could properly develop to it's conclusion, it was pretty obvious that you massively had the upper hand the moment you managed to close the distance. "This way you'll be able to properly defend the Einzbern from threats with similar abilities to me."

"Are you really offering to train me... to make it so you would lose to me if we fought again?" Giselle sounds uncertain of your suggestion, her voice filled with doubt. Of course, from her position, it would likely seem nonsensical. Why would you care about what happened to her at all, or about her combat ability?
>>
"Well, of course. I don't want you feeling like your strength is the only reason behind you existing. If you're unskilled at combat, then there's only one solution, isn't there?" Really, the offer you're making her is primarily motivated out of guilt. You were unaware of just what the consequences might've been for defeating an Einzbern Homunculus would've been for the losing homunculus. You never would've taken such a course of action if you knew that their loss to you could very well have led to them being killed for their failure. "You see Giselle, we are all created to serve a purpose in one way or another. But it's only through finding your own purpose that you can truly be considered alive." What you're saying is not strictly true, but at the same time it is. Benefits of knowing the truth behind reality is that you know that everyone you've ever met was created to serve a narrative purpose. But only you can allow them to expand upon that purpose to truly begin to live. Only you can help these fictional characters truly begin to exist. It is only by your own actions that they can be freed from their already written existences. It is only through your interference that the future cannot be truly predestined. You are the most important person on the entire planet in that regard. Everyone except yourself is a slave to their own fate, but the longer you interact with people, the less you start to see those people in particular as fictional. There's always going to be that feeling at the back of your head though, no matter how long you interact with any single person. 'You don't exist. Disappear.' Thankfully though, you have a good handle on that particular negative thought that plagues your mind, and as long as things remain that way, you don't think you're going to have any problems with considering people as real. Well, almost real.

"Then I will accept your offer to teach me some of your fighting skills. I don't really get why you want to help me at all, nor about rising above the purpose I was created. I'm just a homunculus to be disposed of, after all." Yes, that is exactly the reason you ought to wish to rise above your own created purpose, Giselle. Why are these homunculi so fine with the idea of their own death? They'll sacrifice themselves for nothing? Never experiencing any form of genuine happiness? "But I will not refuse the offer to make myself more capable in fulfilling my duties." It's the complete opposite of the sort of response you were hoping for, but you'll have to take it for now. Does she really not get it? That there is more to life than her programmed wish to serve the Einzbern? With enough time, you're certain you could make her believe otherwise, but as things are now, Giselle is still content with the life of a slave to be executed at a whim. "Though it is getting quite late, Master Makiri. So I would suggest you get some sleep. I will be happy to receive your guidance in fighting tomorrow."
>>
You yawn once again, she's right. As much as you would like to teach Giselle some of your Bajiquan now, it really is getting too late, and you don't know how fatigued that Giselle is from her own duties as a maid. It would be summarily unfair to attempt to teach a woman who is likely in truth nearly completely exhausted from waking at whatever time she is required to to fulfill her duties as a maid for the Einzbern. You're actually fairly tired yourself, and it's likely not the best time to be trying to teach skills that require the utmost focus with the two of you in such states. Of course, you can't just stand in the hallway forever, so you finally decide to open the door to the guest room, it's quite a beautiful room itself, not on the scale of Illya's room, nor is it quite as beautiful or exquisitely furnished, but it clearly cost an incredible amount to furnish, just like basically everything in the Einzbern's Castle. If you aren't mistaken, there was some anecdote somewhere that actually mentioned the Einzbern came into possession of Das Rheingold at some time. You wonder if that cursed pile of treasure might have something to do with their continued lack of success in practically every regard.

Giselle follows you into the room, and while you look around the room, she uses that time to take a breath before she says her next line. "I do have one more question that I am... required to ask you by Lord Jubstacheit." She hesitates for a moment before continuing. "Would you say that I... have proven myself capable as acting as your personal maid?" What on Earth is she getting at with a question like that?

>"Of course you have, what sort of a question is that? You've fulfilled your duties excellently so far, Giselle."
>"If this is some sort of roundabout way of asking me if I want you to continue to act as my maid for the duration of my stay, then I won't say no."

I'm not sure if it's Acht plan specifically or it's just how things are done with the guests of the Einzberns, but using Giselle as a point man so we don't spread the taint of self determination to the the other maids is a solid move. Maid Rebellion, while proven possible, might have just been killed in its cradle if accepting Giselle means we won't have contact with the other maids, but rejecting her might very well lead to her death, which would be awful.

It is almost if posting in the thread affects actual progression of the plot, separated from choices. With our dice being power of our Truth as if we are actually some Outer God with Shinji Matou being a meat puppet rationalizing entire thing to make it look like his own will.
Kind of reminds me of those proto-Neuralink research projects were scientists made animals move via electrodes connected to the brain. Since brain activity of those animals was no different from when were moving on their own scientists theorycrafted that every command animals received was interpereated by a brain as its own will.
But that would be hell of a twist and way too meta to be true.

So do you guys think we'll be able to get the RM and our Truth manifestation and manipulation shit going before the war starts?
We've been hitting on all cylinders every time we get the chance to practice them, but we still haven't truly broken through to making them useful tools. At this rate, I'm not sure if it's even possible to get them functional before the war starts or if we need to do something drastic to really make things click for Shinji.
Either way, would it be best to keep pushing them for what might be minimal results or try to incorporate our truth with other forms of magecraft, like we did with Truth Healing?

The way our healing turned out to be is likely had something to do with interaction between our Affinity and Origin.
Going by that we might have a good shot at getting similar results from things like Bounded Fields, Absorption, Counter-Magic or Curses?
Although if we can push any magecraft into that state our Reinforcement can become Self-Modification?

I think we should learn projection too, especially since we know how to Trace.
>>
>>4373523
projection plus truth could be broken
>>
>>4373523
The mana cost would be too high for projection to actually be useful, even if we have a ton. The only reason why Shirou can use it is because his entire existance and magecraft abilities are specifically tailored to strenghten projection, which we don't have.
>>
>>4373574
We understand the process he uses to make replicas, and we have the ability to manifest Truth.
Projection can't be more costly than truth manifestation, and would last longer if we apply tracing to it.
We also take less mana to cast those spells than normal mages would, and what they would consider to be a high mana cost is tiny for us.

I also believe that it may be able to make truth manifestation last longer, since with tracing applied Gaia shouldn't be able to tell if it's not natural, going by the Projections Shirou had in his shed.

There's genuinely only one sort of answer that you can give the maid, when it comes to actually acting as a maid she's really only led you to your room, after all, so there is quite literally nothing to find fault with in her performance. "Of course you have, what sort of a question is that? You've fulfilled your duties excellently so far, Giselle." Never mind that actually being critical as to her performance may very well end up in her death if Acht is feeling particularly vindictive towards her.

"I'm... glad that you feel that way... Lord Makiri." What? Have you graduated from being called Master now? It doesn't feel quite right to be called a Lord when you officially hold no noble title that would grant you the right to actually be referred to as such. Then again, it's not really like you can imagine Acht actually holds a true noble title, considering that he's some sort of advanced golem. "Goodnight, Lord Makiri. If you require my services once more, please simply call my name. Within the bounds of the Einzbern Castle, we homunculi are magically alerted whenever our names are spoken aloud with the intent to summon us." That actually sounds like quite the advanced piece of magecraft, actually. You wonder how it is attuned to so many of the maids and how often the bounded fields require updating due to the creation of new homunculi... Giselle curtsies as she leaves the room while you ponder on the specifics of the Einzbern's bounded field. Seems that it does a lot more than just repel unwanted visitors.

With nothing else to do, you decide it would probably be for the best if you were to get some sleep after all. You have a busy day of getting to know Illya better... or rather getting Illya to like you more, ahead of you tomorrow, and you wouldn't want to be unprepared for dealing with the whims of the small homunculus girl, she can be quite the handful when she wants to be, but thankfully it seems that her attention has truly been enraptured by the games console that you gave her. For somebody who has lived the majority of their life in boredom like Illya, that sort of entertainment media must be like something of a drug to her.
>>
The two days pass in blissful happiness as you work to truly make Illya like you, and you feel like by the end of your time with her, you have become one of Illya's closest friends, your only real competition is Leysritt honestly. You refrained from making any form of romantic move on Illyasviel within the bounds of the Einzbern Castle though. Acht knows exactly what happened the last time the person he had got to help the Einzbern win the grail war fell in love with the lesser grail. So while there is a part of you that wants to do so, you are held back by fear of Acht's retribution or the alliance falling apart thanks to your rash actions. There's also the problem that despite Illya being about a year or two older than you, she looks about six years younger than you do. Of course, if you were around her for long enough you'd probably get over that particular... quirk of her body though. You never really found one body type more attractive than the other, honestly. You can appreciate beauty in most of it's forms after all, it's just that the morality of the world you held to in your other life keeps worming its way into the forefront of your mind. It's not like it would be impossible for you to truly fall in love with Illya though, she really is adorable when she wants to be. She's also completely terrifying when she wants to be, but aside from a few... playful threats, she's been as good as gold when it comes to keeping the more unhinged part of her personality under control.

Your training with Giselle goes surprisingly well. Despite her complete lack of any martial arts skill, the combat homunculus is actually a remarkably quick study when it comes to activities like increasing her own combat skill. Her progress is incredible that in only two days, you're already teaching her some of the more advanced techniques you know of. Still, she's not quite as quick a study as you were, and you can still see the flaws in some of her attacks as she practices, but she has very much taken the lessons you have given her to heart and as a result is likely the strongest homunculi among the Einzbern when it comes to pure fighting ability. You managed to confirm that Giselle was not quite as strong as Leysritt, but she should still be strong enough to lift and throw a car with ease. A single elbow strike from Giselle would be enough to turn a normal person's upper body into chunky gore.

Giselle also takes the role of being your personal maid, providing everything you ask for and even a great deal that you don't ask her for. Despite her original... stiffness, when it came to acting as a maid for you, you can see that the woman truly excels at her job as a maid. Almost as much as she now excels as a combatant. Ever since she realized the true power of martial arts, Giselle has continually taken any opportunity she can to give you her thanks. Guess that's one way of letting somebody know you appreciate something they did for you.
>>
Eventually though, the day of your departure comes, and you find yourself saying your farewells to Illyasviel, who is looking at you with an annoyed expression on her face. You can't really reveal the true reason behind your departure to the Einzbern. Full disclosure as to why you do what you do is something that you don't really intend to allow anyone to gain insight on, at least not until you've already achieved your goals. Then you can reveal to people your motivations. But probably not the complete truth of the world. The knowledge that the world is but a story would likely be enough to break the fragile minds of almost anybody who is told the truth of what they are. At best you would be able to process that sort of knowledge with only a mere existential crisis, but for the majority it would completely destroy their mind.

"I don't see what could be so important that you have to take care of it in Fuyuki instead of spending more time with me." Illya is pouting. "You're... fun to talk with." Clearly Illya doesn't want to reveal what could really be called her new-found addiction to the Game Boy Advance. Unlike most magi when it comes to technology, Illyasviel seems to actually enjoy it. Funny how much her opinion on technology differs from that of Acht. "You'll come back when you get the time, right?" You suppose you should consider it a very good thing that Illyasviel is looking forward to your next visit.

"I'll promise to at least try, Illya." You don't really know what the next years before the grail war will hold for you, but you'll definitely at least try to visit the Einzbern a few times to see Illya once again. She even smiles at you as you give your answer. Really though, you absolutely want to continue to get Illya to like you. Despite your apprehension about her appearance slightly throwing you off, personality wise, she's incredible easy to get along with... just so long as she hasn't decided she wants to torture you to death or put your soul in a doll.
>>
The Lord of the Castle himself has seen fit to see you off, Acht stands with Giselle behind him. Curiously, her hood is off once again, allowing you to see her long wavy hair again. "I bid you good luck in whatever it is you must do, Young Makiri." Just as it looks like Acht is going to turn and leave, he continues to speak. "I've decided upon something of a... farewell present, for you." Giselle steps forwards. "I took note of just how well you got along with Giselle here, and I am quite happy to have her accompany you on your travels. Think of her as a physical representation of our alliance." Wait a minute. He's just going to give you Giselle? What? You suppose you have the money to look after her, but it still seems like an odd decision on Acht's part... unless he intends her to act as some sort of spy for the Einzbern, and to report you if she notices any suspicious behavior. But then you know that Giselle might just be gotten rid of by the Einzbern if you were to just outright refuse her here.

We can't be seen outside with her, at all. It would raise too many questions to be seen with someone so distinctive. Even if we put her in normal clothes, she'll stand out like a sore thumb and any mage in the city would know the look of an Einzbern Homunculi. If we get her an apartment, she'd have to stay there, by herself, for possibly days at a time for what might be years. If she really is on orders to spy on us, then she'll probably go out of her way to follow us around, and while Shinji is pretty damn perceptive, it's still a huge hassle. And that's not even mentioning the possibility of her spying on other people, like Shirou or Sakura. We could get Touko to make us another puppet, but then we have to worry about 3 different Shinji's walking around the same city, all occupying the same spaces, talking to similar people, and there's also the chance she'll catch on to the fact that she's talking to a puppet like Sakura has and then report that to Acht, which opens that whole can of worms. Speaking of worms, sure Zouken doesn't give two shits about Shinji now, but with dear old dad on death's door, Zouken will be paying at least some attention to us. Now, more than ever is the time to lock things down.
I honestly don't know how you guys expect this to go. What's the fucking plan here?

"Although I appreciate the offer, bringing Giselle back with me at the present time would likely raise suspicion, and could jeopardize our alliance. When things have been taken care of I would be happy to accept her." You can't accept Giselle right now, suddenly walking about with an Einzbern homunculus accompanying you would not only bring a lot of unwanted attention towards yourself in public whenever you had Giselle accompany you, but would also completely end your deception if you actually had her act as your maid. Not only that, but Zouken would definitely take notice if an Einzbern homunculus started walking around town with you, and that could only lead to disastrous consequences at the hands of Zouken for practically everyone you know who lives in Fuyuki. Except Touko. You're pretty certain that if Zouken tried to mess with her he'd quickly find himself dying for real, no matter what method he might try to use to survive. After all, you're fairly certain that Prelati is a far more talented magus than Zouken, and with a far greater method of not dying after being killed too.

"Oh, and when exactly do you expect that will be?" Acht pries into your affairs a little. You suppose it's to be expected though. If you were in Acht's position, you would probably want to have at least some way to ensure that somebody you've agreed to an alliance with wasn't planning on betraying you. Giselle is actually an excellent way for him to ensure that your offer has been made in good faith. But the fact is you did lie about your inability to use magecraft... If Giselle properly monitors what you get up to, you might not be able to conceal your magecraft practice with Touko from her like you have from Zouken.

"I'm not entirely certain if I will be able to successfully end my ancestor's life before the grail war, if I'm to be honest. I simply want to have the certainty offered by the overwhelming power of a Servant before I make my move to end his life, if I don't succeed then I could very well end up being killed." You look Acht directly in the eyes. "I am not a man who likes to take chances. I hate uncertainty. Everything I do when it comes to achieving my goals has been calculated to at least some degree. So I would have to request that Giselle not be given to me at least until the beginning of the grail war." At that point, you should have Rider at your side if Sakura ends up summoning a Servant, and if not, then your own Servant should have more than enough magical energy to defend you in a fighting retreat if things all fall apart. Still, you feel bad when Giselle looks a little upset that she won't be going with you. You don't really know why, either. Shouldn't she be happy about being able to continue serving the Einzbern here? While you don't agree with her thought processes, you know that she shouldn't be upset about not being able to leave the Einzbern's land.
>>
"Very well. I can understand your reluctance to take Giselle with you, but she will still be going to Fuyuki." Acht is really quite insistent isn't he? Does he really not trust you? Not that you can really blame him for wanting to be certain of the authenticity of the offer.

"I... I will be?" Giselle sounds surprised, clearly this wasn't discussed with her before this offer was made to you. In fact, you don't even know if it was discussed with her at all.

"That is correct, Giselle. You will be observing the situation in Fuyuki as well as getting the castle there into a livable state for Illyasviel after nearly a decade of our absence from it." So that's his plan is it? He still has his spy in the city to observe you, but you just don't get to know when it is that you're being observed? A clever idea he's had, but it just means you'll need to start being even more observant from now on. Hopefully Giselle isn't too persistent in her pursuit of you, otherwise you really won't be able to keep your magical ability hidden... Maybe you can convince her not to follow you? Though you aren't sure if you'll be able to get somebody literally created with obedience as one of the core aspects of their being to go against the orders of their master. "Oh, and should you notice if young Master Makiri requires your assistance in any manner, please aid him." Acht turns to you with a smile on his face, the smile of a man who knows he's getting his own way "You don't have objections to this, I take?"

"No... it's... fine. Just so long as Giselle keeps herself out of sight and doesn't alert Zouken to the presence of the Einzbern in the city, then there will be no issue with her being in Fuyuki. Oh, and you should probably also avoid letting the Second Owner know of her presence. Miss Tohsaka might not be too pleased by the presence of an Einzbern Homunculus within the bounds of her territory." You pause for a moment as you remember that Rin never thought to look into the son of the magus killer himself despite knowing his last name and already having an interest in him thanks to seeing his high-jump. "Then again, I can't really vouch for her competence when it comes to the running of the city under her jurisdiction. She's as young as me, yet is really nowhere near as intelligent, so such inexperience with successfully running her territory is to be expected." You're pretty confident that you could have earned enough to purchase the damn country if you started off with the sort of capital Rin has... well had. Kirei saw to it that her family's immense fortune vanished thanks to his own incompetence with handling her estate.

Acht turns around, speaking one final time before he vanishes deeper into the Einzbern Castle "Well then, best of luck in your preparations, Master Makiri. I have high expectations of you for the war... What a pity that you were born without the ability to use magecraft..." If only you knew, Acht. If only you knew.
>>
While Acht may have left you to leave of your own accord, Illyasviel is still staring at you, and you give the girl one last apologetic farewell as you truly leave the Einzbern Castle "Goodbye, Illyasviel. I hope to see you again soon." She remains silent as you walk away If the situation allows, you'd like to visit the Einzbern Castle at least twice more before the Grail War truly begins. Once a year at minimum. It is however quite irritating that you never got any information on what might've happened to Kiritsugu, but you suppose that now that Giselle is going to be in Fuyuki, it might be possible to glean the information from her.

It's a long walk back to the village, you're only thankful that you've got more than enough money to hire a cab to take you back to the airport... But now that the reality of returning to Japan is on the table, you should probably think of how to go about your return to the country. You know that you only have a few days at most before Zouken attempts to have you sleep with Sakura due to the crest worms that will eat her alive from the inside out if they aren't sated with magical energy.

it doesn't matter, Zouken can survive as long as the crest worm is alive and that's in Sakura's heart right now, it makes things both easier and harder since killing the crest worm kills Zouken but we need to get into Sakura's heart to go through with it

I mean we can easily change, I think we should now actually, Rin should be a good Magus at this point and we really need to fix Sakura and Rin's relationship. Plus, Rin was sure she can beat Zouken, if we team up and tell her his weaknesses, we can absolutely kill him
>>
>>4374639
First, we need to know exactly where Zouken will be. He's a fucking hermit, there are probably only 4 places in the house he frequents, so we find the one that's the easiest to get into. Once we have that we use our connection to the Fujimura group to get a bunch of explosives and plant them in the set location. The night we execute the plan, we do what >>4374658 suggests and cut out the worms from Sakura's body with a truth blade while she's sleeping, as to not alert the heart worm, while simultaneously detonating the bomb. The explosion and the destruction of the crest worms need to be timed perfectly. If we get rid of the worms in Sakura tp early then we will alert Zouken that somebody is fucking with her. If we wait too long after Zouken is dead, he'll regenerate.

>>
>>4374639
If we're trying to remove the worm we should try weakening it first with antihelmintics. Praziquantel, Nitazoxanide kill roundworms and blood flukes and should be somewhat effective against crest worms. Additional drugs we could try are Monepantel and Derquantel due to their use in treating parasitic infections with worms resistant to other antiparastitics. These will probably cause Sakura to be ill so we'll need Grey and avalon on standby to remedy their effects and for when we finally rip out the damn worm. I hope while we're at it and stealing these drugs we steal anesthetics and surgical equipment so we can do this whole worm removal properly. Probably would be best to find and hypnotize a cardiologist to do a checkup on Sakura afterwards to make sure avalon did it's job and healed any damage done afterwards.
>>
>>4374719
so we start the grail war, take cu to the vet for heartworm medication then use it on sakura. Got it.
>>
>>4374724
Really we should just fuck Sakura and build up the meds and resources over time. When the time comes slip some fentanyl in her tea or whatever we need to sedate her then we start the surgical bullshit.
>>
Reminder that
>While you could theoretically rid Sakura of the crest worms now with Avalon, you don't actually have a way to kill Zouken that you are confident would work, and he might just kill Sakura out of spite or somehow reject Avalon from entering her body.
So, we really REALLY need to both Kill Zouken AND remove the worms from Sakura in order for this whole thing to work. Also, any use of Avalon probably isn't viable.

>>
>>4374823
Because as soon as he finds out he's missing the thing that's keeping him from dying then we're fucked. So we need to get rid of that worm, call in all our contacts that can fight and dog pile the fucker.
>>
Can't we just summon servant now?
>>
>>4374639
Drug Sakura, conjure Truth blade to kill worms only, start hacking and slashing from heart as much as possible everywhere on and in Sakura. Use of Monica or Fujimura group to distract Zouken could also be a viable option in addition, though Zouken might be able to use the worms to remotely awaken Sakura to get her to safety and protect the core worm.

Does destroying core worm instantly kill Zouken, or can he regen that too?
>>
>>4374639
Ethics aside I doubt even Zouken's disinterest will hide us for long now. He needs to be put down but I'm the first to admit I'm kind of blanking on how.
>>
I wanna save Sakura! But I have no idea how we could do so. The truth blade thing might work, but then who all do we have on our side to help with fighting Zouken? Monica, maybe Waver, but anyone else? Shirou isn't strong enough I think, but could be convinced to help us. Kiritsugu is missing so he's out. Our sensei wants us to succeed without her help...
>>
>>4374853
It's the core of his soul, with it gone he will eventually die, but he can still muster himself together as long as his body is alive.
Killing both at once will leave him struggling to reform himself, a state that could end instantly if he saw an Einzbern Homunculus and remembers his purpose so he can pass on, otherwise he'll be stuck clinging to life by a thread constantly reforming his body with the blueprint of his old soul.

I'm not sure we should drug Sakura, Zouken watches everything she does and us drugging her is pretty suspicious.
Truth blade to kill the worms sounds like a neat idea, but their corpses would be left inside Sakura.
I don't know if Zouken can reform them afterward, but iirc the ones in Sakura's womb have fused with her body and require a surgery to remove, just killing them should cause her severe internal damage, if it's the same situation with her heart then killing the worm would kill Sakura as well.

We only have a few days here, and calling up Gray could take too long, so Avalon would still be sealed inside Shirou.

What if we manipulate the truth of Sakura's body to be one that can't die, then extract all the worms and heal her wounds afterwards?
Or manifest a tool to extract the worms from Sakura, maybe like a suction device, then heal her once they're out?
Zouken won't be able to force her compliance if he has no worms in her to control, and after we've extracted them we could use a weapon that "Absolutely kills all entities soul-linked to this one." on the core worm, and I think Zouken would instantly die, though my wording on exactly what type of truth would kill all the worms linked to the core worm that are under Zouken's control might be a tad odd.
>>
>>4374639
>>Accept that you're going to have to sleep with Sakura in order to save her when you're ready.
>>
Though better than the sword and hoping we kill all the worms, some kind of spell that goes through her entire body and harms only the worms would be ideal. Don't want a surviving non heart worm to start tearing everything up inside her because we missed one and Zouken is petty.
>>
>>4374915
>>4374921
Building on this idea, the extraction tool could effect Sakura's entire body at once, and remove all the worms.
>>
>>4374915
Ah shit so we gotta be 100% able to extract them than just kill them. Fuck.

If we can make it so she isn't in pain during the whole 'magic her from dying and just rip out all the worms' bit then I'm game, but otherwise we should try to find another method of removing them, or at least ensure we do so with very precise movements so no unnecessary pain is caused.
>>
>>4374924
Is there a tool used to remove a crest worm we can truth into being able to remove all crest worms? I'm super out of my depth in knowledge of the requirement and resources behind crest worm removal. If we could just pull the crest worms out of her all at once like we pulled Avalon out of Shirou, that'd be great.
>>
>>4374927
I can't think of any such tool from the top of my head, but truth manifestation does exist to perform feats that would otherwise be impossible, so if we can imagine it, we should be able to create it, mana cost aside.
That makes me think we should learn how to store our mana outside our body, since our spells are so costly having ways to bolster our truth spells without draining ourselves sounds like a really good thing to do.
Digression aside, if we don't use such a tool to remove them, with our current skill level I don't think we can remove the crest worms since they'd require a more specialized skillset like removing magic crests or spiritual surgery, since we're dealing with something that binds to the body rather than something that can be dissolved into and removed from you.
>>
> Run our plan by Touko before we do it. Also, see if we can make a blade that only strikes it’s true target - even through walls. Alternatively, just use a blade that only strikes magic to see how much we can fuck with the crest worm’s body when we slice it. At the very least, it should remove connections to other worms. It might fuck with Sakura’s circuits. We don’t know for sure if Zouken has used his crest worm yet. Have Avalon on hand in case it goes wrong and to heal Sakura after.
Knock her out or do it at night so that Zouken doesn’t see.
>>
Could also try and ask Touko for help. She likely has experience with spiritual surgery, and might be willing to help if we tell her about the heart worm.
>>
>>4374946
This reads like a horrible idea, and why would doing it at night or when Sakura is sleeping stop Zouken from seeing what's going on? We don't even know if he sleeps, and I doubt he does.
We already know we can manifest things to do exactly what we imagine they can, so the experiment in your post seems redundant to me.
A blade that slices through magic would tear up Sakura's Magic Circuits, and possibly her soul as well, but even if they're killed if she's healed afterward with the corpses still inside her body there's always the risk that the worms will be healed with her, especially since they've fused with her body.
Avalon may or may not be usable depending on whether Gray is available for the next few days, which is something we don't know at the moment so making any plans for it seems hasty.

Create an extraction tool that will always extract its target without fail, and only effect the worms and not Sakura, maybe some kind of syringe, and remove the worms from Sakura's body starting with the heart worm.
Create a weapon that will kill all the worms at once using the core worm as the initial target, and stab Zouken's core with it.

Not confident this will get support, but it's my best idea for now.

>>
>>4374972
This fic never mentioned that this was a thing that was possible with truth magic - it probably is, but we haven’t trained for it. Truth seems to separate possible from impossible. It can certainly make a blade that cuts only magic, but we haven’t made one that only cuts a specific target.

As for doing it at night - it doesn’t matter if Zouken stays awake. What matters is that Sakura is unconscious and that therefore her nervous system is nonfunctional. If she can’t see us, Zouken can’t either is the logic. We can’t make her unconscious during the day, or Zouken will see something is suspicious and might wake her up. If she’s unconscious at night, it’s expected and gives us an opportunity to act until we start killing the worms
>>
>>4375063
We can sex after we kill Zouken. Celebratory sex.
>>
>>4375077
Personally I don't see a distinction between only cutting magic and only cutting a specific target, if one is possible the other should be too, when using Truth of course.

Given that Zouken's worm is himself, he should retain all awareness of the surroundings even if Sakura is incapacitated, it would be a massive oversight on his observational capability otherwise.
Not sure where the idea that he only sees things through Sakura's eyes only came from, was it mentioned anywhere in the VN? I don't remember that.
>>
Because Truth separates possible from impossible. While it can cut “impossible” things like magic, it might not be able to cut possible things without cutting other possible things. Here, I’m interpreting “possible” as physical / mundane.
>>
>>4375095
But we determine what's possible and impossible, so if we tune it so it will only effect a certain thing it will only effect that specific thing.
As long as you can rationalize it properly you should be able to come up with a solution that will function for the purpose you intend it to.
>>
>>4375093
I mean, this is under the assumption that all it does is monitors the state of it’s host. Zouken’s consciousness always seems to be elsewhere. It could probably tell if Sakura was feeling nervous or something by monitoring her vitals, and alert Zouken so that he can check on her, but having Shinji, who is expected, go up to her as if nothing is wrong while she’s sleeping and unaware of him and stab her in the heart without her realizing he’s about to has a much better chance of Zouken not paying enough attention to notice until the heart worm is dead. Mainly, it seems the worms don’t have eyes: the only way they could see is through touch and smell, or transforming themselves / using the senses of another person.
>>
>>4375099
Do we? Don’t think it’s ever been specifically stated whether this is how our powers work.At the very least, have to confirm with QM if it is.
>>
>>4375101
In HF Sakura pulls out the heart worm and has a dialogue with Zouken, I'm pretty sure he can see plenty while in there.
It's also due to the worms in Sakura that Zouken was aware of her feelings towards Shirou, which he used to manipulate her.

>>4375103
>Truth abhors impossibility and as such constructs created of it can reject that which shouldn't be possible.
>Truth manipulation allows Shinji to take an already existing concept or 'truth' of an object and manipulate it as he wishes.
Pretty sure that means if we have enough mana and a vivid imagination that we can create things that perform feats that would otherwise seem impossible.
>>
Yes, and again “that which shouldn’t be possible” is way too vague. It’s like it’s specifically created so that the QM can control what we actually do with it.
>>
>>4375123
How is that vague?
"That which shouldn't be possible" is incredibly simple.
If the concept that the construct comes into contact with isn't something that can co-exist, like a sword that can cut through anything meeting with a shield that is unbreakable, the one made out of truth would win the clash because it's truth.
>>
Also, from your example of Sakura pulling out the worm, all we know is that they can hear. Sakura pulled the worm out, so they might not even be able to hear anything outside of her. This makes sense, since worms can feel vibrations. The closest thing worms have to eyes though are light receptors. While these can probably combined from several worms into eyes, I’m guessing that they can’t see out when they’re in an enclosed space, such as a heart - only hear. Besides, not being able to see what their host doesn’t isn’t much of a weakness - that’s what bounded fields are for, to alert the creators. Fortunately, we already have access to the bounded fields of the house.
>>
>>4375125
How is that “that which shouldn’t be possible”? It seems like you’re coming up with your definition of the term, which wasn’t explained very clearly either here or in canon.
>>
>>4374639
Accept your fate
>>
>>4375134
Touko explained it that way though?
A sword made out of truth that can cut things that are impossible to cut would cut a shield that is unbreakable.
Likewise a shield made out of truth that can withstand blows from anything unscathed will survive any attack.

The fact that we don't know for sure what a truth construction can or can not do at this point after having done all this research and having the means to create one is weird.
Is all the knowledge we know about truth hypothetical? Has Shinji never once tried actually using his first or second unique magecraft on anything to test out its limitations? That seems like a huge oversight if not.

>>4375030
Hey, explain what you meant by this!
>>
Yes, but who decides what is possible and what isn’t? Sure, noble phantasms and magic are fairly clear cut examples, but what about magic circuits? Can we cut impossible worms without also cutting impossible magic circuits?
>>
Shinji knows, but QM never went into detail as to the extent we can use it for.
>>
>>4375156
Nasu does?
Shinji decides what's possible by using his magic, but other than that the universe should run on the previous physics that have already been established.

If we create a sword that can only cut through magic it won't be able to cut through anything else, likewise for a knife that can only cut through Zouken, it wouldn't be able to reach him through Sakura.

And so I suggest removing the worms instead of trying to kill him while they're inside her.
>>
lookin like we're gonna kill Zouken, I wanna ask the good anons though, do you wanna seal the deal with Sakura if we do kill Zouken?

Only reason to touch Sakura is if it's saving her life. If we kill Zouken, we should get her used to living without us.
>>
>>4375189
how do we do that though, do we just make her live with Shirou or Rin and only visit a few times a month?

>>
>>4375192
It doesn't have to be that extreme. Just never take our relationship beyond brother and sister and gradually get more distant over time. We've already made sure she knows how to socialize with other people; it's just that right now she doesn't want to. If Zouken is taken out of her life now, I think she'll gradually adjust to us not being the center of her life over the next several years.

I'll say if there's anything in a proposed plan that Shinji thinks wouldn't be possible with his current knowledge of his magecraft.
>>
>>4375199
>We've already made sure she knows how to socialize with other people
We actually never did that.
>>
>>4375202
We had her hang out with Shirou in one or two of the timeskips and it seemed like she could act normal. They weren't that into each other, but I think we'd have noticed if she totally shut him out and refused to speak to anyone but us. That's what I remember reading anyway. Am I wrong?
>>
>>4375165
Sounds good to me.
>>
>>4375204
>We had her hang out with Shirou in one or two of the timeskips and it seemed like she could act normal.
Yeah, but we never taught her to socialize, or seen her socialize on her own with anyone. She talks to Shirou because we talk to Shirou and while she isn't a complete shut-in she won't speak and interact with people without our prompting.
The only thing Shinji has done is tried to make her get along with Shirou as a friend, but he hasn't gone out of his way to teach her to be more social or confident, something I really REALLY think we need to do.
>>
>>4375211
Well if we do kill Zouken then we make her live with Rin (making Rin owe us a favor and fixing their relationship) as well as making her visit Shirou so he wakes up cause clocks are degenerate while we visit her every once in a while cause we're 16 now, FSN and Tsukihime are happening in 2 years and we need to spend all our time prepping now. Ween her off of being codependent on us and instead rely on her big sister and our best bro.
>>
>>4375215
>Ween her off of being codependent on us and instead rely on her big sister and our best bro.
Why would we want Sakura to be dependent on anyone? Whether it be Shinji, Shirou, or Rin, why not try and make her a happy independent person while we can?
I don't know what's so hard to get about that. We have turbo charisma, just teach the poor girl to be better at socializing.
How fucking callous can you be to simply dump her on someone else without giving her the tools to be happy on her own?
>>
>>4375235
Because she's codependent on us, making her friends with Shirou and Rin will show her that there's more to the world than just us. She's not gonna be able to hangout and have a good social life if she's only gonna focus on us even if we try to make her more extroverted, doubly so when she views us as her savior
>>
You guys realize that psychological dependencies aren't something you can just wave a wand and fix, right? I know simple solutions to complex problems sound good, but they just don't work.

Keeping her forcibly away generally leads to depression, self destructive behavior, worsening of her dependency and has a possibility of suicide. If you want to fix it then you need to invest a lot of time in her, talking about her problems and supporting her in becoming more independent.
>>
>>4375244
anon we're about to face off against vampires and historical figures and a big dog, Sakura is great and all and we should help her with her mental health but time is of the essence and we have a massive workload
>>
>>4375251
Shinji's goal is to make those he cares about happy, sidelining Sakura is incredibly opposed to that goal.
>>
>>4375236
And you think simply dumping her off with Rin is the solution? That she won't continue to view us as her savior and be emotionally dependent on us if we just slowly abandon her?
The only way to help her is to take responsibility and actually help her with her problems! Simply pawning her of with others, no matter who those others are, will help.
Shinji with his charisma and knowledge of psychology is the only person equipped to help her besides a magic therapist.
We should have BEEN doing this since she was young, but instead we decided to do shit like start a futile relationship with Rin and send Sakura to Shirou's house to try and get her attached to him, and it's infuriating.
>>
>>4375254
I think turning into Altrouge's pet is also opposed to the goal of making Sakura happy too
>>
>>4375251
This. We can't make anyone happy as a corpse.
>>
>>4375251
Then don't try to sell the idea as helping Sakura, because it won't.
>>
>>4375244
>>4375257
Basically these.
We can't expect to simply send Sakura off with others and fix her problems. We need to take the time to actually fix these things, and we have plenty of time to do it.
>>
>>4375257
Sakura developing meaningful connections with people besides Shinji or Shirou makes them very easy targets to erode Sakura's will to resist Zouken.
I have no clue why people tried to go for developing a relationship with Rin instead of Sakura though, that makes so little sense to me.

>>4375258
>>4375260
You make it sound like doing both is impossible.
>>
>>4375269
I never said we should forget the girl exists; I just don't think she should be a top priority or a romantic target. What we do about her, so long as we don't start making her our main focus, I don't really care.
Moving her to Shirou or Rin's house does seem like asking for trouble though.

>Truth tool extraction plans
>Distract Zouken and do one of the above plans.
Might need to consolidate the plans that are the most similar and make another vote. For example, there isn't much difference between cutting the worms with a Truth Knife and using some other Truth Tool to remove the worms and then destroy them, so those can be under one roof.

You realize codependency means two people are (emotionally) dependent on each other? If it is just one person that is a simple emotional dependency.

Also while there is no guarantee it won't make things worse, the most likely outcome is that it will make her happy. Yeah, the problem isn't solved, but on its own it shouldn't make it worse.

That too but more Importantly for me stuff like 'truth blades that only harm what we're targeting and tool creation' sound like deus ex machina's if they actually work when we time skipped over each of our training sessions to get to the more important bits nor established were even capable of them, and we spent years keeping people out of our affairs, suddenly deciding to do a 180 and bring in the people we'd need to go with the avalon plan assuming they don't somehow manage to reject it.

No. You won't let Sakura suffer any more than she already has. It's enough that you allowed her to suffer for just as long as she has already, but you don't think you can let yourself allow the girl to spend a single moment more suffering. No. You're going to go back to Fuyuki City, and you're going to kill that bastard Zouken once and for all.

But the only question is... how? The first thing that comes to mind is Avalon. You could take a trip to London before returning to Japan and ask Waver if you can borrow his Saberface. Then you can hopefully extract the worms from Sakura using relatively mundane methods, physically removing the worms through actual surgery. You obviously haven't ever been given the opportunity to magically analyze anything about Sakura's body, so while you're somewhat confident that you could operate on Sakura and rid her of the crest worms, you don't know if she'll be able to survive the process, even with something as potent as Avalon healing her. The fact that some of the crest worms have likely actually melded with her body entirely means that Avalon might not have the intended effect at all. Things would be dire indeed if the regenerative magic of Avalon simply restored the crest worms as well as any parts of Sakura's body that would have to be damaged to complete the operation. But... You don't actually know if that's what would happen. That's just a worst case scenario, after all.

You aren't going to rule Avalon out just yet, but what else can you do? An idea springs up of using your ability to manifest a blade of Truth that would only be able to cut through crest worms and would harmlessly pass through anything else like some ethereal blade of a spirit. Though you had best hope that using Truth to form some sort of construct to kill Zouken once and for all would truly work. You know from practice with the element that manifesting something like that for even a few seconds is enough to force your body into an unresponsive state for hours. Perhaps not a sword though, you wouldn't want to leave the crest worms corpses in Sakura's body. A flame which only burns the worms within Sakura might work though... Then of course, while it's a true last resort you know that Kirei can remove the majority of the worms and was only prevented from taking out the heart worm due to it requiring the extraction of Sakura's heart. But going to that fake priest and asking him to do anything for you is just ridiculous, your only real hope of him actually agreeing to the procedure is if he believed Sakura would truly die as a result of the operation and basically tricking him through putting Avalon inside Sakura before asking him to remove the worms from Sakura. Though you feel like trying to trick Kirei like that is beyond playing with fire.
>>
The actual procedure of removing the worms isn't all that you'll need to do either. You can't just remove the worms from Sakura's body and hope for the best. You'll also need to ensure that Zouken's body is totally destroyed somehow at almost the exact same time that you extract the heart worm from Sakura. It's going to be a challenge, but there are a few things you can do to ensure his obliteration. The first idea that comes to mind is hiring the ever trustworthy Monica to incinerate him with her electricity like she did to that vampire, Cornelius. Then again, you could also try to use your connections to the Yakuza to buy enough explosives to blow both Zouken and the Matou mansion straight to hell. That way you would have the added benefit of being able to choose the exact moment Zouken would die. Then of course, if you're going to get Gray involved in things by asking her to help use Avalon, you could see if she would agree to helping kill Zouken. Seeing as Zouken is basically a wraith, Gray might not even need to use her Noble Phantasm to destroy him. She does specialize in dealing with evil spirits, and Add is also an anti-spirit weapon.

Then your last option for destroying Zouken is going to Kirei and revealing what he's up to. You're also pretty certain that if you could track her down, Ciel would be more than happy to kill Zouken for you, but really, you don't know if it's a good idea to try to get the Church involved in your plans at all.

No matter what it is that you end up deciding to go with though, you'll confirm your intentions with Touko before you actually go through with your plan. If there are any possible problems with your plan, you have no doubt that the incredibly intelligent woman would be able pick up on them and give you a solution as to how to remove those faults in your plans.

>>
>>4375443
Kirei will definitely notice Avalon and screw us over if we call him in to do the surgery. If we try to use Avalon to heal Sakura and remove the worms the old fashioned way, I'm 99% positive that either we'll miss enough tiny portions of worm that they can survive or kill her accidentally; Avalon can't resurrect the dead, and surgery isn't known as a profession that's easy for beginners to pick up. There's also the logistical problem of Gray. The Truth surgery idea is probably the best, especially the flame, but I'm not at all confident in our ability to make it work effectively. More likely than not we'll pass out partway through the operation and ruin things that way. Also, I have the strong feeling Zouken can survive/escape everything in the kill Zouken section. He didn't live all these years by being an easy mark.

If Zouken can be killed by a missile strike, a bunch of explosions should also work. The church might draw connections between the bombing here and the bombing of Kirei's church, but it's a worthwhile risk to get this cheap shot in on the big worm.

Seriously, I want you all to think about what a nightmare surgery this would be. We're not talking about an animal the size of a rabbit here, something you can stab once and be done with. This is a parasitic worm. It's alive and mobile, it's tiny, and if any part of it is left in Sakura's body it can regrow. Imagine trying to use a scalpel to cut all the veins out of someone's body without leaving any of the tissue there. Now imagine they can move. At best, Avalon or the truth blade will make sure Sakura survives the process. That makes the job only as difficult as surgically removing a large number of worms from a corpse without leaving any part of their bodies behind. It'd still be a nightmare for an experienced surgeon, and we're a complete amateur. That's the scenario where every part of our plan that Shinji thought might fail in this last update works out perfectly. There's a good reason Kirei had to use up a ton of command seals to boost himself enough to remove most of it. The only way this has a chance of working is if we burn them out, and even then I'm pretty sure the magic will drain us enough that we'll pass out working on her. This job just isn't possible at our current level of ability.
>>
>>4375476
No I can read, but it leaves me asking what the QM means by this.
There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to combine some of these choices to a cohesive plan that works, and since write-in is an option we can pick, then just consider someone picking more than one as a write in to do a combination.
>>
>>4375485
There would be no point to only picking one if you could just make a write-in that's a combination.
>>
>>4375481
If we can't even create a girl-sized flame for a few seconds after eight years of training I'll be extremely disappointed.
>>
>>4375487
Exactly, so QM didn't literally mean pick one. He was just saying to pick a way to save Sakura and Kill Zouken. Not literally one of each, but a method for each.

Why are we asking Kirei to do the surgery when we have a person who knows the Human body innately enough to create a bunch of copies for shits and giggles, and is good enough with spiritual surgery to steal magic crest and figure out a way to use it?

For the operation itself, you'll have to see just how powerful your ability to use Truth is. While you're somewhat confident that you can handle using it to create some magical effect to remove the crest worms form Sakura, there's always going to be that nagging doubt that you just aren't prepared enough to save Sakura. That you ought to train your magecraft more before you can genuinely attempt to save the girl. But you aren't going to allow that doubt in your own abilities to hold you back from acting any longer. You will save Sakura and you aren't just going to wait for the grail war and hope that you'll be able to get Caster to save Sakura for you. In a way, training for so long and then just basically bypassing the whole situation by relying on Caster just seems... wrong. Like you'd be cheating. You would feel a lot more confident if you actually practiced spiritual surgery, but it simply never came up during your training with Touko. Because of this, you don't know if you'd be able to extract the worms if you were to attempt to physically remove them by cutting Sakura's body open. Of course, Avalon would keep her alive during the process no matter what you did to her, but there's no point in operating on her if you don't actually think it will work at all.

As for killing Zouken, you eventually settle on having both Monica and Gray work together to put an end to the old worm. Both of them seem like solid choices when it comes to dealing with Zouken, Monica's electrical and magnetic abilities ought to really counter the majority of what Zouken's familiars could do. A swarm of familiars is quite worthless against electricity which will ideally arc between them all. Gray however is likely to be even more effective when it comes to dealing with the old worm. With Add and her midly superhuman abilities, dealing with a wraith like Zouken ought to be relatively simple for her. The only problem with dealing with Zouken is his magecraft, but thankfully, he's way out of his prime. He's no longer the legendary magus Zolgen Makiri who under ideal circumstances could battle servants. He's simply a worm in his shape clinging to life and a forgotten dream in his madness. Killing Zouken is a mercy at this point.

By the time the cab arrives and both you and Giselle get into the vehicle, you're already plotting to visit London. Looks like you'll need to go and pay Waver a visit. You hope he's doing alright and is getting accustomed to the role of a Clocktower lord. Though you really know that he hasn't and probably never will enjoy the role. It's not exactly like he gets the prestige and respect that the title should grant him either, considering he's basically just a glorified puppet for Reines to bully as she pleases and everyone important knows that. Well at least he can enjoy the adoring respect of his students. Going to London should also let you visit Monica personally.

You quickly come to the realization when you're thinking of getting a plane that it might be for the best if you had Giselle accompany you to London. Simply out of concern for the homunculus. You don't want her managing to get herself lost in an airport, and the truth of the matter is that you're going to need to hypnotize some people to actually get her through the airport. You really can't imagine that Acht has prepared fake passports and the like for all of his homunculi, and he has a very limited knowledge of how the modern world works. You shouldn't have too many problems with using just a little bit of magecraft to hypnotize a few people into letting her pass and remaining unnoticed in doing so. But still, you know that if Giselle fails in her duties now, then it's likely that she really will be put to death by Acht for her failure.

So you have no choice but to have her accompany you to London. "Giselle. Do you mind if we take a detour to London before we go to Fuyuki? There are a few things I need to get sorted before I return to my city." Giselle simply nods at you quietly, accepting the orders with absolutely no delay. Well, guess that solves that. Seems like she's aware of the fact that her odds of success are really quite low in getting to Fuyuki by herself with no real aid from Acht. You suppose that in a way, this must be a test for her set by Acht as much as it is Acht attempting to spy on you. Still, with any luck, you'll be able to hide what you really get up to from Giselle. You might actually be able to convince the homunculus into not revealing the truth of your abilities to Acht if you managed to become a good enough friend to her. But that will require you to forge quite a strong relationship with the woman meant to be acting as a spy. Luckily for you and rather unluckily for Acht, you are aware that Einzbern Homunculi can easily develop the feelings and personalities of real human beings if they are simply treated as one instead of as a tool to be disposed of. But even with that in mind, you might have to see if you can convince her that you keeping your magecraft a secret from everyone is a beneficial thing.
>>
------------------------------------------------

After some trouble actually getting Giselle through the airport and a thankfully short journey on a plane, you find yourself in London. Specifically, at the Clocktower and standing right outside the office of Lord El-Melloi II. It was kind of a hassle actually gaining entrance to the Clocktower, but thankfully, you were let in by one of the guards when you mentioned you knew El-Melloi II. You left Giselle back at the hotel to prevent yourself from drawing too much attention, and she seemed to have been fine with it. For somebody who's mission is basically just to spy on you, she seems to be incredibly lax about the whole situation. You're somewhat glad for her lack of any sort of a refusal when it comes to following your orders though. Even though you attempted to reject her as your personal maid, she's still accepting orders as if you had agreed to that proposition. Strange.

You can't just stand outside Waver's office for too long, people would soon begin asking questions, so without further ado, you push your way into the office of the overworked man. There's a look of intense boredom on his face as you enter his office, and it quickly transitions into a look of resigned annoyance as he notices your entrance. He doesn't look surprised at all by your entrance though, "I see that you've managed to find my office quite well, Shinji. What is it that you want?" I'd rather not get chased through the countryside by an angry mob of villagers again, so please don't tell me you want to go searching through quaint villages again." He lights up a cigar as he finishes speaking and begins smoking... probably to calm his nerves. That was quite a large mob, after all.

What original servant would you like to see?
I know personally, the fact that Nasu and co, started using relatively recent historical figures before taking characters from African, Inuit, or even other southeast Asianic myths is retarded beyond belief. The world is filled with so much mythology and the fact that Napoleon is a 6 foot tall giga chad and my boy Sundiata isn't in the game yet is a god damn tragedy.
>>
>>4376377
That's a decent counterargument. Pulling some African or native American myth would be even worse than summoning George Washington.
Still, I think there are plenty of worthwhile characters from Russian, Indian, and Chinese lore that haven't been used, though I'm not overly familiar with their mythologies. The Russian folk hero, the third son, someone suggested in an earlier thread would be a good candidate. An actual decent version of Ivan the Terrible, Charlemagne, or some characters from medieval chivalric romance would be nice. Himiko or Prince Shotoku might also go over well.

Sakura is
A) Only big when you compare her to the rest of the cast and to Japanese girls in general. She's only actually like a D cup, and compared to what we could have and how much of everything else we have already is pretty disappointing.
B) Old pussy, and as such off the menu.

Eh, D seems plenty big to me. The cowturia style "tits bigger than her head" thing just strikes me as grotesque. Then again I'm not much big on the kind of super-exaggerated hips on lolis you've got in your Jack image there. I'm just not into unrealistically extreme proportions (anime eyes excepted, course.)

"Actually, I don't need you to accompany me this time, I just need Gray to help me kill my grandfather." Waver inhales and chokes on the fumes of his cigar. You know, you never mentioned it to Shishou because of her puppet bodies, but for somebody like Waver, smoking is just going to end up causing him problems down the line. Then again, you suppose if he's using them for stress relief, it's preferable to his heart exploding from the constant barrage of ridiculous nonsense that he must have to put up with on a day to day basis.

"You... You want to do what?" You're pretty certain that he heard you perfectly. Waver is a nice ally to have, but he really does enjoy playing the part of the straight man too much.

"I want to kill my grandfather and I need Gray to help me to do it." You repeat. "Don't worry, he's a genuinely awful person and probably ranks in about the top ten of people on the planet who deserve to be killed..." Well, there's a real long list, but Zouken probably ranks near the top, just below the people actively trying to bring about the end of humanity.

"Why?" Seems Waver needs a brief lesson in just why Zouken needs to die. Very well, he's trustworthy enough to be told of why you want to kill Zouken, thankfully, spying on the personal offices and quarters of other magi within the bounds of the Clocktower is against the rules of the organization, so you shouldn't have to fear being spied upon. It's probably so magi feel safe actually doing their research within the Clocktower that they've put so many magical protections against remote observation on so many rooms of the complex.

"Oh simple stuff really, typical magus business, for one he murdered my mother, is responsible for the violation of my sister, and has killed hundreds if not thousands of people over the last half a millennium. He's also partially to blame for the Grail Wars in the first place, and for all of the casualties that resulted from the wars." Pinning the deaths of the wars on Zouken is hardly fair, but as he was one of the brains behind the war, it's not entirely uncalled for. The Einzbern might've never managed to get the war to a functional state without the brilliance of Zolgen Makiri, after all.
>>
Waver looks totally shocked by your complete condemnation of your grandfather. What, wasn't he aware of just how awful a person Zouken was? "Fine, it's not like you would take no for an answer anyway, and this is really par for the course with how I expect you to act. However you'll have to wait a few hours, Gray is currently out running an errand and I'm not entirely sure when she'll return. I doubt that you'd like to help me with this paperwork though, so when it comes to entertainment, I'm afraid that you'll have to occupy yourself." He returns to scanning through some of his paperwork, keeping an eye on you and cautiously observing you. You can't really blame him for that caution after how much you seem to know about things you have no right of knowing.

"Oh that's not going to be a problem, I think." You begin leaving Waver's office. "I'll be back in a few hours, I'm going to take a stroll around the facility. I'm sure I'll find something to do." You've wanted to take a look about the Clocktower for a long time now, and this is really the first actual chance you've gotten to do so. There are so many relevant people in this place that you really never know just who you might bump into.

"W-wait a seco-" You leave the room and quickly begin walking off, you don't really want to waste this opportunity by just staying in Waver's office and waiting about for things to happen. Gray could take hours to return, after all, and you'd rather not let Waver rope you into helping do his paperwork. You'd think with some of that money you helped him earn, he'd hire himself some sort of personal secretary. But you suppose he's under the same restrictions as you are when it comes to his newly obtained fortune. He has to hide his money from Reines just like you have to hide your money from Zouken.

You walk aimlessly through the halls of the Clocktower, marvelling at the architechture of the building and the powerful spells you can feel reverberating in every part of the building. Clearly the result of this place being the origin point of tens of thousands of powerful spells and rituals in the past. Other than perhaps the Vatican, the Wandering Sea and Atlas Academy, it's unlikely that there is a single place on the planet with superior defenses than the Clocktower.
>>
Still, your wandering can't continue forever, no matter how fascinating you might find the building and the history behind it. You simply keep wandering until you find something that might be interesting, but your lack of familiarity with the layout of the building makes locating anything a complete nightmare. There are no references guides or maps available either. Finally, after what must've been thirty minutes of just exploring the Clocktower and bumping into a few of the really quite irrelevant unnamed background magi who exist only as a baseline for the universe to call 'average', you come to a stop in front of...

You come to a stop outside of a gymnasium. Eh, sure why not. You've honestly been skimping on your physical exercise over the past few days, and training Giselle hardly compared to your usual intensive regime. Spending time with Illya really gave you no time to just go and spend a few hours training your body. You're hoping that the magi of the Clocktower have at least invested in physical training equipment and that you aren't expected to bring your own. While you could easily afford all the equipment, you don't really have the time to go and construct a gym for your own usage right now.

Pushing open the doors to the gym, you find yourself with a face to face with a girl you know, but have yet to meet. Luviagelita Edelfelt stands in the center of the room wearing an exercise uniform, in a boxing ring, of all things. She seems to take notice of your arrival at almost the exact moment you walk through the door. There's absolutely nobody else in the gym either, it's just Luvia.

"Ohohohoho! A challenger finally approaches! I knew that putting up that challenge up would find somebody willing to fight me!" Luvia seems to be mistaken about something. "Now, state your name! You who would challenge the Great Luvia!" Wow, does she not have any shame or anything? You get that she's young, but what is this wrestling act she's doing? You suppose that there's nobody else around, but still. Why is she just challenging whoever walks into the gymnasium, anyway?

"Hold on, challenge? I'm really just looking about the place, honestly. So... this is a gym?" You take a look about the really rather sparsely equipped gym, there's absolutely no modern pieces of equipment. Not a single treadmill in sight, and the weightlifting machines leave quite a bit to be desired. Still, you can probably manage something with the terribly equipped gym, you've worked on your regime with less to use, after all.

"T-that's right! A challenge! A sum of one hundred thousand pounds will be paid towards the challenger who defeats me in a battle of physical skill!" The fact that nobody has yet to challenge Luvia with that sort of cash on the line really could only mean two things. One, that the majority of the Clocktower aren't at all the athletic type and don't want to spend a few days recovering from beating beaten up by a girl, and two, that to a lot of the magi of the Clocktower, a mere one hundred thousand pounds is a pittance. Of course, it's also a pittance to you and Luvia, but it's not a terrible incentive to get the less established magi to fight her. "So, have you come to do battle with the Great Luvia, Mister..." Luvia is clearly waiting for you to introduce yourself, and with a resigned sigh, you do.
>>
"It's Shinji. Shinji Matou. I really just came here to get my daily exercise and martial arts practice in, fighting you isn't exactly a high priority of mine here... Uhm... 'Great Luvia'." You kind of need her to give you her full name, you think a part of your soul just died having to call her by that stage name. It's not like it's that embarrassing, but to have to call somebody by such a ridiculous name when you're trying to have a serious conversation with them is just silly.

"Oh? I am Luviagelita Edelfelt, of the esteemed Edelfelt family. Are you new to the Clocktower? I imagined you would've recognized me as such if you weren't, and I haven't seen your face around before... Oh! Are you the same Matou from Fuyuki?" Luvia pauses for a moment. "The same ones who helped the Einzbern and were helped by the... Tohsaka. To set up the Grail War?"

"Indeed." You confirm everything Luvia says. "I have heard of the Edelfelt too, of course. Your family is really quite the impressive one." It speaks volumes of the prestige of the Edelfelt when Luvia can use her jewel magecraft whenever and however she pleases without hovering on the edge of destitution like Rin. Though Rin and the Tohsaka only know jewel magecraft in the first place because they almost certainly stole it from the Edelfelt some time during the third war. "But why exactly are you challenging people to a... uh... wrestling match?"
>>
"Isn't it quite simple? I wish to prove my superiority over the rest of my fellow magi in a battle without the use of magic circuits!" Luvia begins explaining herself. "It would really be exceedingly simple for me to crush anyone who came to do battle with me with the use of my magecraft, but that's exactly the reason why I wish to fight without relying upon them!" There's an exceptionally high ego here, but Luvia's confidence isn't entirely unwarranted. Among the Clocktower, he magic circuits really are first class, and the vast majority of those background characters would clearly balk at the prospect of going up against her. Then again, those same mob characters also have absolutely no physical skill to speak of. They probably just don't want to get beaten up by a girl. Besides, even defeating Luvia has a high chance of them getting a black mark against them from a powerful magus family like the Edelfelt. There's really no reason anybody would want to fight Luvia. "Say, you look fairly well-built, and you did mention you came here to do some exercise... How about it? Do you think you have what it takes to defeat the Great Luvia?" Absolutely. It wouldn't even be a challenge, honestly. If Luvia is restricted to the level of a normal human being, you could end the fight in a single strike. Even if the two of you were to both reinforce yourself to the limits you could manage, you would still end up crushing her with your superior skill, strength and speed.

>"No thank you, Miss Edelfelt. I'm really only here to do some exercise, not to beat up a beautiful girl."
>"I'll have to pass on that offer, I need to do my own training, and fighting you is not conducive to that."

>>
>>4377636
I feel like you're forgetting the widespread magus disdain for oriental magi, and the fact that we're actively trying to distance ourselves from the Japanese Matou and retake the heritage of the Russian Makiri. If it does come down to naming, children of ours should have a mix of Russian names and names from their mother's country of origin, not be named after anyone we know. Peter, Alexander, Feodor, Vasily, these are the names worth giving a Makiri boy. Shirou is no more appropriate than naming our son Zouken would be.
>>

>"If you really want me to fight you, I'll be happy to thrash you."

Speaking of, we should put learning to speak Russian like a native on our to-do list. It should be possible to learn fairly easily for someone of Shinji's intellectual talents.
>>
>>4377645
In the olden days you would name a child in honor of someone. We know no Peters or such. Shirou is a good friend of ours and a good man.
>>
>>4377600
I was debating over whether to have you call yourself Makiri or Matou to Luvia.
She's familiar with both names, seeing as the Edelfelt are quite well aware of the grail war.

But Shinji went for Matou here because he figured that Luvia would be more receptive to speaking to somebody that she knows is also an enemy of the Tohsaka.
Also, because she knows that the Makiri go by Matou now, she would've immediately assumed you were trying to give her a false name.

Though if you want, I'll have Shinji introduce himself as Makiri to everyone else he might run into.
>>
>>4377652
If we cared about what people did in the olden days, we wouldn't have given Illya a gameboy. Shirou may be a good guy, but he's got a terrible name.

There isn't much Takeuchi can do, but fucking Nasu never codified Luvia's measurements so fuckers were allowed to run wild with it! All I want is tiddy consistency! Nobody is in Kaleid, the whole world operates on different, weird principles, character traits are changed willy-nilly, etc. It only really makes sense if you just think of them as all original characters who only share basic design concepts with their original timeline counterparts. I could write an essay on how "Illya" and "Shirou" are slaps in the face to the original characters, but nobody wants to read that so I'll keep it to what I've already said.
>>

>which is the only timeline she's likely to have the thing.
Rin has Ruby, and if Ruby exists then there's a good chance that Sapphire exists too. Especially since we're in a mishmash timeline.

>>

Honestly, you're right.
Still, the fact that Luvia doesn't have official measurements got me kinda pissy. And the fact that literally hundreds of characters in the Nasuverse don't have measurements when others of them do, triggers my autism something fierce. Is it so wrong to want them to document a new character's 3 wacky numbers for posterity's sake? There has to be turbo otaku that feel the same. Do none of them whale the moble game hard enough to have their prayers answered?

It's a shame our rolls were so low on the Touko relationship foci. All this thirst from anons is making me think we should've had her take Shinji's virginity and give him some pointers on technique, so we could properly show Illya a good time on the wedding night.

>>4378385
I can almost agree, it's not my favorite (and worlds better than harem fags) but I'd like a lot more if we where hearing actual plot reasons for it or was based on multiple 'on screen' conversations and not just one while starting before she appeared, as is acting like a group of coomers jerking to their waifu is beginning to make me hope we get friend zoned out of spite
>>
>>4378435
Genuinely I'd just do it out of spite because the Illyafags have been annoying me since the start of the quest. I'd concede and help in their plans if it doesn't lock us out of other romances but if it does, i'm burning the whole ship down
>>
>>4378435
I'm sure you'll get the plot reasons and on-screen conversations you're hoping for once the actual war starts. As-is, there's a tone of idle speculation and hopes because of the nature of the thing as a meta quest. Since the character born into Shinji's mind was originally a Fate fan, any fan can project their own feelings directly onto him and feel like it's in character.
Personally I won't be too broken up about it if we don't click. Illya may be my main hope, but as long as whatever romance we do develop is compelling I'll be reasonably satisfied. It's just spiteful assholes like >>4378385 that really irritate me.
>>
>>4378446
I hope so, currently if you take out my annoyance at her fans as a character she's just slightly over Sacchin in my book in that neither of them really have been developed yet outside of meta knowledge when part of the goal of the quest is to go massively off the rails. I might come around when we get some good scenes with her during the HGW, but so far dealing with her fans really hasn't made me expect that'll come easy.
>>
>>4378458
Personally I'd say that with the way we've been skipping through time, no character's been developed much beyond meta knowledge. The ones we have gotten scenes of have acted exactly according to type, except for Sakura, and we've spent very little time with her. We'll have to settle down and start going through things day-by-day for anyone to really start to fleshing out, and that apparently won't happen until the war. Still, I'm pretty sure that after the setup we did at the Einzbern castle Illya's locked in as one of the character's we're most likely to be spending a lot of time with during the war, so she'll probably be one of the first to get that kind of development. Satcchin and Altrouge, for example, will probably have to wait a while longer.
>>
Am I the only one who wants the electric cake?
>>
>>4378458
I agree that we haven't really fleshed out anyone's character yet, but QM has proven that he is more then capable of writing likeable characters so he can certainly write some comfy character development once we get past the time skips.
>>
As far as I'm concerned the past few threads have been prolonged character generation. It's been fun, but this is all backstory, and as such all the real character arcs will come once we really get started. Until then all we're doing now is establishing characters and showing how their circumstances have changed from canon. We are putting all the billiard balls into place and the break is soon to come, and like all breaks it will be a beautifully chaotic time.
>>
>>4378461
Don't really want to started on that, but aside from player annoyance my only problem with the quest so far has been that id've liked to take things a bit slower to flesh things out, see more training with Touko to get a better grasp on our power, hanging out with (Sakura, Waver, Shirou, Monica, insert character here), dark moments at the Matou house but at the same time I don't have much faith in the average player's patience, I doubt many would want to sit through a extra month or two to get to the grail war so long as the skip options available.
>>
>>4378471
I've seen the threads as Shinjis story as much as the war will also be his story.
>>
>>4378471
Well put, anon. That's pretty much how I've been looking at it also. This business has all been the prologue to the real story that's set to begin when the first servant is summoned.
>>

Well, you can't really say no to a challenge like that, can you? Besides, this is just another excellent opportunity to see where you truly stand in regards to the the more important characters of this world. Luvia when it comes to magecraft is practically Rin's exact match, and considering that the two of them are also almost matched with each other when it comes to their fights, then you can reasonably surmise that Rin and Luvia are about as well trained as each other when it comes to martial arts. Only Rin specializes in whatever Bajiquan that Kirei could be bothered to teach her and Luvia specializes in western martial arts, mostly wrestling, you think. "If you really want me to fight you, I'll be happy to thrash you." Still, you're completely confident that neither Rin nor Luvia could defeat you in a battle without using magecraft as you are now. Not only do you have an advantage over Luvia thanks to the superior speed and strength granted to you from your intensive training regime, but at least a few of your opponents that you ended up fighting against during the tournament you participated in were also fighters who specialized in wrestling.

"Oh? Feeling confident just because I'm a girl? I'll make you regret thinking that way, Shinji." Luvia seems like she's about to go on some sort of tirade about how you shouldn't underestimate a female opponent just because of their biological differences or something. Though you aren't stupid and you hardly need telling that looks can be deceiving, just yesterday you fought against a delicate looking woman who in actuality has enough physical strength to rend through metal with her bare hands and to crush a person like they were an empty juice carton.

"Oh no, not at all. I'm confident because you're weaker than I am. I can tell. You don't stand a chance." You take your suit jacket off so that it doesn't restrict your movement, same as when you battled against Giselle. After hanging the jacket on a stray chair, you begin to approach the ring.

"Oh ho? You're approaching me without even getting dressed into a proper fighting uniform?" She smirks madly. "Just don't come crying to me when it gets stained by your blood." Poor Luvia doesn't understand just how outmatched she is. You almost feel bad for the poor girl. She really doesn't know what she's getting herself into.

You look down at the expensive white shirt and dark blue waistcoat that you bought for the sake of the Einzbern visit before you shrug. "It won't be my blood doing the staining, Miss Edelfelt, and besides, this suit only cost me a few thousand pounds, so it's not like I'll really have much difficulty replacing it." It's not like you're using your tremendous wealth for anything else other than getting more money and for buying clothes at this point.
>>
You hop into the ring, oozing confidence as you look at your opponent. You emanate an aura of smugness as you stand in your corner of the ring, you can tell that it's starting to get to Luvia, too. "Alright, the rules are quite simple, and you'd have known them if you actually read the challenge." Luvia holds up two fingers. "There are only two rules. The first rule. No killing." Well, obviously. "The second rule! No permanent maiming." You don't really like how she specified permanent, and really actually kind of emphasized the use of the word. "Begin!" Without any real warning, Luvia suddenly declares the start of the fight and rushes towards you, attempting some sort of grapple. You easily brush her hands away and slip to the side of the girl.

"Nice try, but you're too slow." Luvia responds to your taunt with an attempted elbow strike to your face. Only to find her attack hitting nothing except air. "Oh dear. You seem to have missed again, 'Great' Luvia." You continue your taunting of the girl. Really, you're having way too much fun here to just use your full ability here. You had already taken measure of Luvia's abilities the moment she made her first move, and at that moment you realized that this fight was really yours to control in whichever way you pleased. There's practically no way that she'll be able to defeat you, by your own judgement, and actually seeing her skill firsthand has you completely convinced of that.

The fight continues like this for a while, with you easily countering anything Luvia can think of doing, you have completely shown up the young Edelfelt heir in martial arts at this point, yet the fact that she's still continuing is a good indication of a person who just doesn't know when to quit. You don't know if she still thinks she has a shot of truly defeating you or if it's just a matter of Edelfelt pride not allowing her to surrender to her opponent despite the overwhelmingly clear difference of strength.

Luvia remains silent as she prowls about the ring, looking for a weakness in your so far flawless defense. You simply look at the girl as she tries to figure out the best way to attack her rather passive opponent. It's true. You have yet to throw a single punch. You really haven't felt the need to. "Come on!" Still, your own lack of proactivity in the fight aside, you've started taking more than a little enjoyment from taunting your opponent into making rash attacks.
>>
Luvia falls for the taunt, rushing in and wrapping her arms around your chest. You allow her to do get the set-up for a suplex ready for only a moment before you hook her leg with your own and send her tumbling to the floor. For as much fun as you've had in just completely one-sidedly showing off your superior skill to the girl, you feel like the time has come to end this.

Looking upon Luvia's prone form, you decide to...

>Break one of her arms. It's not like she won't be able to get it repaired by some healing magecraft specialist, and it will teach her humility.
>Take a note out of her book and pin her till she taps out.

The only thing you can think of that would complete your outright domination of Luvia in this battle would be to beat her on her own terms completely. Sure, you could break her arm, knock her out or demand she surrender to you, but none of those really appeal to you. For one thing, breaking Luvia's arm would guarantee that she would hate you forever, and you really don't want that. Knocking her out or demanding her submission to you have their own appeal, but you decide that if you're going to do defeat her, defeating her in a pin is the only way to do it. It has nothing at all to do with the fact that you actually want to pin the girl physically to prove your total superiority over her. Absolutely nothing.

In a flash, you're on top of Luvia, grabbing hold of her limbs and restricting her movement as you work your way into getting a headlock on the girl as she struggles against you. In truth, you haven't really got too much experience in grappling, and Luvia almost manages to overwhelm you in a battle on the floor, where you can't use your Bajiquan experience to it's full extent. It's only because of your vast amount of experience in fighting multiple actual opponents that Luvia doesn't share that you manage to remain dominant during the grapple. While Luvia has likely trained a lot on unskilled opponents and on training dummies, there's really no replacement for actual skilled enemies with varied fighting styles. You've fought wrestlers before, after all, and while you didn't actually go for a pin against them, you've seen enough of the fighting style to copy the maneuvers you should take in order to win out over the frantically struggling Finnish girl.

Her resistance ends up being for naught, and soon enough you have positioned Luvia into a perfect pin, there's absolutely no way for her to escape your pin without being able to overpower with her limbs in awkward positions, and with the current 'no magecraft' clause, such a thing just isn't possible for her to do. You remain on top of Luvia for a while, yet she still refuses to tap out. "Miss Edelfelt, please just accept your loss to me, there's no shame in being defeated by a world champion level opponent like myself." You try to convince her to tap out otherwise you really might have to break her arm to end the fight.

"World... Champion?" Luvia slowly repeats your words, her tone one of defeat. Looks like she's finally coming to terms with having been defeated by you. Hopefully she taps out soon, things are getting awkward already.
>>
"That's right, last year I won a martial arts tournament and gained no small amount of attention for it. Even after I signed up with a fake identity, I ended up with some rather dedicated fans I've had to deal with. Thankfully, none of them were of the stalker fan variety, so I haven't really had too much trouble with anyone." You're really quite glad that nobody else is spectating this fight, lest they see you quite casually conversing with a girl you are in the midst of pinning to the floor. To some, the sight would probably look quite indecent. A boy pinning a beautiful girl like Luvia to the floor would be awkward even at the best of times, but to speak with her while doing so like it was a perfectly reasonable thing to do is simply strange by the standards of anybody, even magi. Besides, the last thing you need to do is to potentially attract fans who are actual magi. You've got enough problems on your plate without that happening. "But seriously, can you surrender already? I'm getting bored of this, and I don't actually want to have to hurt you."

"Grrrr. Fine! You win!" Luvia finally taps out after making a very angry noise. "I suppose that you've given me a few things to think about when it comes to fighting, at least. I can see that I still have quite a lot to learn when it comes to self-defense."
>>
You get off of Luvia and help the girl to her feet. "Oh don't get me wrong, you're really tremendously skilled, but I can tell that a lot of your moves were designed with the idea that you would be reinforcing your body with magecraft, without the overwhelming strength that self-reinforcement would grant you, a lot of your attacks fall flat." She leans against the ropes as you analyze her combat ability. "However, fighting with the assumption that you will always have that enhanced strength is a flaw. You ought to work on a combat style that is functional even without being able to overpower your opponent, yet is enhanced to an incredible degree when you are capable of such a thing." Really, she wants to focus on trying to learn a fighting style like Kuzuki has. Snake Style is incredibly lethal when the former assassin isn't reinforced by Caster, yet upon being reinforced, the man is capable of defeating Saber with not much difficulty at all. Of course, this is in many parts thanks to the surprising nature of Kuzuki's technique. Saber probably would have defeated the man if she was fighting at peak power though, and not held back by a Master who was incapable like Shirou was at the time. It's still incredibly impressive that the technique managed to deceive even Saber's A-ranked Instinct could've easily wiped out the main characters, and very much does so in one bad end. Seeing how much you know about Caster and Kuzuki though, it's unlikely Rin will end up losing her head in any case. You've been thinking of preempting Kuzuki when it comes to saving Caster for a while now. Completely removing the threat both she and Kuzuki represent to you and the main characters. In fact, you've also been hoping to learn Snake Style from Kuzuki, it would definitely be an excellent addition to your own martial arts, and you have no doubt that you could quite quickly pick up the highly effective technique if you could convince him to share its secrets.

She looks at you and gives you a fairly cautious smile. "Thank you for your advice, I'll take it to heart, Shinji. Though when I'm ready, I'm going to want a rematch, and don't you dare refuse!" But it isn't long before her competitive spirit sparks up again. Really, Luvia is lucky that this wasn't a battle where Self-Reinforcement was considered acceptable, you're probably at a much higher level of skill with that form of magecraft than she is, and the fight would've been over with even less effort on your part.
>>
You shrug. "A rematch? Sure, any time you want. If you really haven't had enough of tasting defeat, I'll remind you of it's flavor whenever you want me to." While you're happy to give Luvia advice, it's terribly unlikely that she'll ever actually be able to defeat you at this point. You've surpassed her by a large distance already and you have absolutely no intention of slowing down your own progress. But still, you don't want to discourage Luvia. If the girl wants to get stronger in martial arts, then you're happy to help give her some advice. Being told that she will likely never be able to defeat you isn't really going to help motivate her.

"Next time, don't think it will be so easy!" You just smile confidently at her when she suggests that she'll somehow have improved enough to be a challenge by your next fight. A nice thought, but terribly unlikely. It's not like you're going to slow down your own training for her sake. You need to be able to survive facing off against not only Servants, but also powerful Dead Apostles, all thanks to you managing to draw Altrouge's attention onto yourself years ago.

"I'll look forward to seeing how much your skill has grown when we fight once more then, Miss Edelfelt." You aren't exactly lying when you say that. You really are looking forward to seeing how much stronger Luvia can become. It won't be enough, of course, but it's not like it could be a bad thing to make somebody like Luvia a little stronger. It's not like she's one of the fundamentally evil magi that this world is rife with. "Oh, and don't worry about the money, I never officially fought you for the sake of your challenge, and I don't want you thinking I'm in need of it. Unlike some people I know, I can actually earn money." If only Rin spent half the money she spent on her jewels investing, she might not be so destitute. Then again, you can only imagine how poorly a technophobe like Rin would do on the rapidly technologizing modern world, and you really don't want to be forced to manage her stocks and shares for her. Maybe if you were better friends with her, but the girl is incredibly difficult to approach, you know that if you were just able to talk to her, you would be able to get her to life you, but she refuses to even give you the time of day. It's terribly frustrating. Maybe you can use Shirou to your advantage in getting Rin into a situation where she can't just slip away? You've seen the glances she's given the boy, so you can only assume that she still got the Shirou Emiya High Jump experience. You're only glad that you managed to prevent Sakura from seeing it too. The odds are that Shirou will end up falling for Saber, and you really don't want the girl having to go through the heartbreak of having to watch the man she falls in love with be snatched away from her like that.
>>
"If that's how you want things, very well. I would've been more than happy to have parted with the paltry sum though." Luvia shrugs as you refuse the prize for defeating her. It would just kind of feel like kicking her while she was down, no matter how she says she might feel about parting with it. Being humiliated and then paying for the pleasure of it isn't something you imagine that Luvia would've truly enjoyed doing.

"No no, keep it, I don't need the pocket change." You start getting into a strange sort of money-off with Luvia. You aren't really sure what her personal finances are like, but you've got hundreds of millions of dollars invested in the Stock Market and tens of millions in secret bank accounts. If all goes to plan, by the Fifth War, you should at least be a billionaire, if not a multi-billionaire. You feel like cheating the world economy like this is a bad thing to do, then you realize just how unethical the rest of said economy is. You can't imagine anyone else investing in the market not capitalizing on their knowledge like you're capitalizing on your own. It's capitalism, so it's the name of the game, after all.

This back and forth continues for a while, with you and Luvia basically just gloating at each other over money, both of you are unwilling to state just how rich you are in certain terms and instead resorting to boasts about just what you can afford, Luvia seems to be having a fun time though. At least more of a fun time than when you were absolutely dominating her in the ring that is, though you can't really say she enjoyed losing to you at all. Oh well. Eventually though, both you and Luvia end up running out of interesting boasts about just how wealthy you are respectively, and you end up parting ways. You actually didn't manage to really get any exercise done either, having spent most of the time boasting. Really though, the conversation ended at about the time you claimed you would 'buy Finland' to prove how much money you had. There wasn't really anywhere the conversation could go from there. You could make good on that promise in a few years, actually. Seeing as you've so far been able to effectively increase your starting amount by a factor of six every two years, eight years ought to be enough time for you to have amassed enough wealth to buy basically everything in Finland. Though you think that you might run into pretty impressive resistance if you literally attempted to buy an entire country.
>>
As Luvia does have things to do other than just boast about her family's riches to acquaintances, she soon ends up leaving you in the gym by yourself after bidding you farewell. All things considered, you think you actually ended up getting along wonderfully with Luvia. She doesn't even seem to be that mad that you beat her. Well, it's probably more likely that she's just good at hiding her personal opinion on people. You imagine she's still quite furious that you beat her, and you imagine that she'll really do her best to get her revenge when it comes to that rematch you promised her.

With Luvia gone, you decide it would probably be best if you...

You know what would be useful if we could get ahold of them? Class Cards. I wonder if we could create them, or if we run into Zelretch, convince him to help us get some.

Can you imagine equipping Shirou with Gilgamesh? UBW + GoB would be nuts.

You keep wandering about the Clocktower's many halls in the hopes of just bumping into something... or rather somebody that you would consider interesting, be that a character you are already aware of the existence of or some other character who doesn't just blend in with the background like a mob character. Everyone else is really just worth ignoring at best.

After a while of wandering about, you begin to grow frustrated at not coming across anybody who looks even remotely important, you know that the Clocktower is a big place, but to not manage to walk into anybody you know from your already existing knowledge is just unfortunate. Hell, you'd even take bumping into somebody like Lev than endure this mindcrushing tedium of irrelevancy any longer.

It's at that moment that you are barreled into by a boy about your age rapidly exiting a classroom, papers and classwork going everywhere thanks to the boy tripping and falling over upon bumping into you. You're brought down with the boy as he grapples onto you in terror, forcing you to take the brunt of the fall on your shoulder for the both of you. It hurts, but you've had far worse.

"M-my apologies, sir!" The boy begins apologizing profusely, and his demeanor is really quite at odds with his appearance. His suit is an expensive one, and his hair is a shade of blond close to white. He even has a strange case of heterochromia. One of his eyes is a deep red, while the other a dull gray. Now this is the sort of thing you wanted! This boy is clearly quite relevant to... something, at least. Maybe he's the protagonist of his own story? Would certainly explain his appearance. It's similar to an Einzbern homunculus, but there are clear differences. For one his hair isn't the same shade, nor is the red of his eye a match for any you saw among the Einzbern. "P-please don't tell my teachers about me doing this!"

You crouch down and start helping the boy pick up the scattered notes. "It's not a big deal, really, and don't worry. I won't." You don't take too long at all to pick the papers up before handing the half you collected back to the boy to organize and fret over. "I'm Shinji Makiri, by the way. I'm kind of new to the Clocktower. Though my family goes back a real long way. Over five hundred years." Unfortunately, your 'grandfather' goes back for the majority of that way too.

"Oh! Names... I'm uh. I'm Alan Thorpe. I'm... I'm only a first generation magus, so you probably think I'm worthless." The boy winces as he reveals his status as the first generation of his family. He's probably looked down upon by all of his peers for just that, no matter how skilled or talented he might be. Magi are a prejudiced bunch, and Alan's rather unique appearance probably doesn't help matters much either.
>>
You smile at the boy. "It's nice to meet you, Alan." He seems really quite shocked that a magus with a family history that long is bothering with somebody like him. It's infuriating that Zouken basically ran the Makiri, and later the Matou straight into the ground with the single minded pursuit of the Holy Grail that consumed his life. If the Einzbern and the Matou didn't focus on the Third Magic like they had, then the two families would easily rank among the most powerful and influential in the entire world when it comes to the Mage's Association.

"Y-you too, Shinji!" He happily returns the compliment. "But... uh. You said you were new around here too, so I'm not sure if you'll be able to help, but apparently I've got to get this paperwork to Lord El-Melloi II's office for him to look over?" Oh. More paperwork. Waver is absolutely going to love this.

>"Actually, I was just heading over there myself!"
>"I have no idea where that is. Sorry."
>"Yeah, actually, I can give you the directions." Continue wandering around.

Time to cuck Waver
>>
How awfully convenient that this boy is headed to the exact same location you needed to start going back to anyway. You'd think it suspicious, if such a chance encounter wasn't so in-keeping with this world. "Actually, I was just heading back over there myself! Follow me, Alan. I'll have you at El-Melloi's office in no time at all!" You confidently declare to the boy. You aren't really sure if he's actually going to be relevant at all to you in the future, but it can't help to be polite to him. The truth is, other than Shirou and maybe Waver, you don't actually have many male friends at all. Even then, Waver is technically ten years older than you are.

"Oh really? Y-you are? You will? Thanks so much, Shinji!" The boy pauses and looks up at the ceiling before sighing. "I knew that things were going to be hard for me at the Clocktower because I'm a first generation magus, but in the month I've been here they've constantly singled me out as some sort of target. Both the students and the staff." Alan sounds annoyed by the actions of the people around him, and you can't blame him. If you were treated like that by the people around you would be absolutely livid.

Alan sticks close to you as you walk him back to Waver's office, you notice a few sneering glares being directed his way as you walk. You do feel bad for the boy, but you can't really shield him from the abuse he's being given. While you wouldn't mind breaking the nose of one of those smug background characters, it's just going to get the both of you into no end of trouble.

After a while of wandering through the myriad halls of the Clocktower, you find yourself back in front of the office of Lord El-Melloi II, not seeing any reason to stay outside the mistreated lord's office, you open the door and stroll in like you own the place. You notice Gray sitting near one of the windows, she does however look over to you when you enter with an unfamiliar new arrival in the form of Alan.

Alan takes a step forward to speak to the overworked man currently filling out paperwork "L-lord El-Melloi II? I... I have some paperwork that the department of Modern Magecraft Theory needs you to fill out."

"Great. Just put it on the pile." Waver gestures towards a veritable mountain of paper for the boy to deposit the paperwork. You really do feel bad for Waver. "Oh right, and your name, I'll need that too. Even the paperwork comes with paperwork..." Waver laments his fate as a Clocktower Lord. All the reponsibility, none of the power and respect. The Clocktower is a horrible spiderweb of danger and lies, and Waver has already managed to get himself stuck quite securely in it.
>>
"My name? I-It's... Alan Y.T. Thorpe." He declares with more confidence than he had when he thought you were just some random stranger, he even used his full name. Though that might just be required for the sake of paperwork. But seriously, does Waver really have to sign out paperwork for whenever paperwork is handed to him? Who the hell is even reading all this paperwork? Do magi just like making people suffer, even if the people suffering includes them?

"That'll be all, Alan. I've got something to discuss with Shinji here, and it's really quite private." Waver quickly shoos away the boy, while it's obvious that Waver doesn't hold the same sort of disdain for new generations of magi that others in the Clocktower are quite passionate about, he does still need him gone so you can discuss the matter of having Gray help kill Zouken.

"Of course!" The boy takes his cue to leave and practically launches himself out of the room, leaving you with just Gray and Waver. Waver is just tiredly looking at you, and Gray is looking with some bewilderment towards the position the magus occupied just a moment ago. You would think that Alan was running away from Berserker with how he lept away from Waver like that. He must've had a bad experience with a Lord already.

You all stand in silence for a few seconds before you move to close the door to prevent your words from being heard by any unwelcome ears. You turn towards Gray after making sure the door is shut. "Gray. I need you to help me kill my grandfather." The girl's face remains unmoved, it seems that you're going to have to be a little more convincing for her to agree to your suggestion of ancestor slaying. "Don't look at me like that! He's basically a wraith clinging to life through the use of worm familiars which make up his body. He's a monster through and through." You give your true thoughts on Zouken to Gray. The old worm really does deserve nothing but death at this point, hopefully Gray will share your opinion on the matter. "And he's not even my real grandfather anyway. He's my ancestor and he's basically done nothing but bring torment onto the rest of the Matou for centuries now.

"Ok. I'll help him to pass on." Gray's face remains neutral as she agrees without any question or complaint. She really is a girl of very few words. But now that you've secured her help, there's really only one thing left to do before you can return to Fuyuki, you'll need to hire Monica to make sure that Zouken really does die. While Gray specializes in dealing with spiritual beings like what Zouken has effectively transformed into, you're still worried that the girl will end up falling victim to one of Zouken's traps. So you want her to be accompanied by somebody with plenty of experience like Monica. Together the two of them should make quick work of Zouken. "So. When are we going?"
>>
"As soon as possible. Today would be ideal, actually." The longer you wait now, the more that Sakura will suffer. You're going to save her, damn it! Gray doesn't raise any objections to that either. Then again, it's not like you can really imagine her doing much around the office. She doesn't exactly look like she's willing to help Waver work his way through his mountain of paperwork anytime soon either. You don't think you're going to have any difficulty at all in convincing Monica to help you kill Zouken though, thankfully.

If it means Nasuverse Misato is going to turn into a loli I can dig it.
>>
So assuming Medea is even in this war, what's the likelyhood of WhatIs fulfilling Nasu's dream if having a Caster Route were she seduces Rider?
I've been having really weird dreams recently and suffice to say, treacherous lesbians have been on my mind as of late.
>>
>>4380766
well considering that anons wanna do I summon, we might not even get Medusa or Medea in this quest
>>
>>4380780
Oh yeah, with Zouken out of the picture, there's nobody to force Sakura to summon Medusa into the war, and unless I misremembered we're supposed to be going to the Einzberns to get our servant.
That alone really throws everything out of wack.
>>
>>4380796
i mean, you can still get Sakura to summon a servant, better her so you have one more person on your side than some rando
>>
>>4380623

>>4380650
We need to summon our own hero
>>
>>4380515
>Skip to the night you put your plan into action.
This'll be the third time we repeat ourselves if we do visit Monica. We'll have some time to interact with her on the night of the plan anyways.
>>
Ok, let's get a quick round-up of how fucked servants and masters are assuming we can kill Zouken.
>We told the Einzberns about Gilgamesh still being around, so they won't summon Berserker and will go for something that can hard counter an Archer which means they'll probably go Lancer.
>This leaves Baz out in the cold since she won't be able to summon ol' Cú Chulainn, which might have already been a possibility since we saved Kerry and he went and blew up the church so we have no clue what Kirei could be planning or with who.
>Because Acht has an alliance with Shinji, I wouldn't be surprised if they had us try to summon Berserker since it's a hard counter to Lancer. Better us have them than some random asshole, but this assumes we're chosen by the grail to start with.
>We killed Zouken, which means we have Assassin up for grabs for sure, and possibly Rider too depending on if we're even chosen by the grail. If we are, then Rider will be up for grabs since I doubt anyone would want to put Sakura in danger by making her a Master.
>Medea is a total mystery. There's no reason why poor Atrum wouldn't summon her, but assuming she still goes about killing him like a bitch, we have no idea what she'd get herself into afterward given all the Tsukihime shit going on.
>Speaking of Tsukihime shit, vampires. If you don't think we'll have some type of Dead Apostle influence in this war then I don't know what to tell you. I refuse to believe it won't happen.
>Saber and Shirou are a given. Because of course, they are.
>So is Rin as a master, and she'll probably end up summoning Archer because not having EMIYA around would be a bit too bold even for a madlad like WhatIsAQM. Wouldn't mind seeing it.

So that leaves us looking something like...
>Shirou with Artoria
>Rin with EMIYA
>Illya with TBA Lancer
>Shinji/Rando (potential vampire) with Maybe Heracles/TBA Berserker
>Shinji or Sakura/Rando (potential vampire) with Medusa/TBA Rider
>Rando (potential vampire) with TBA Assassin
>Medea fucking around with god knows who
>And finally Gilgamesh doing god knows what

All of this assumes that we don't go out of our way to get a catalyst and summon something on our own, which would continue to fuck shit up depending on what we pick.
>>
>>4380894
>Lancer hard counters Archer
>Berserker hard counters Lancer
What's the reasoning here? Is this from Extra or something? I don't remember the classes being rock paper scissors vs each other, that's more the individual servants.
>>
>>4380913
desu is there anyone that can counter gil.
>>
>>4380917
Karna, maybe? EMIYA if he can convince Gil he's not worth putting any effort into fighting. The thing about Gilgamesh is that his upper limits are pretty much untested. It seems like he's as strong as he wants to be at any given time and only loses because he underestimates his opponents.
>>
>>4380913
Lancer has Protection from Arrows which is a hard counter to most projectiles and Berserker with his 12 Labors requires you to kill him in 12 different ways fucks over opponents who don't have that much range of attacks
>>
>>4380894
if this be true, i will mis cu.
His suit was blue and his hair was too.
>>
>>4380917
Enkidu, but that would make Ishtar show up too.
Karna and Arjuna conceivably could on a good day.
Quetzalcouatl probably could too but I think there are rules against gods showing up unless they get meganerfed to fit the Servant containers.
There might be a few obscure ones from FGO who have gimmicks that could get a cheap instakill but that's a lot to comb through.
>>
>>4380920
Sure, but that's the specific Lancer and Berserker from canon. It only makes sense if you know who gets summoned in FSN. Anon's post makes it sound like he's saying any given lancer has an advantage over any archer, any berserker has an advantage over any lancer, and these are things the Einzbern would know in advance.
>>
>>4380926
>Anon's post makes it sound like he's saying any given lancer has an advantage over any archer, any berserker has an advantage over any lancer, and these are things the Einzbern would know in advance.
I am 86% sure that's the case, yeah. I assumed it had something to do with their class skills and average base parameters since all servants have those by default regardless of the individual hero summoned. Of course, you can have someone completely broken like Gilgamesh that doesn't give a fuck about your pokemon bullshit, but he's a special case. And if that's all true, then, of course, the Einzbern would know about that. But it could all be random retconned in for one of the games for all I know, it's been a while.
>>
>>4380894
Cu Could be summoned as a Caster if the lancer space is used, and if I remember correctly, medea can be a rider too, In how things are, baz could probably survive depending on Kirei's mood or if he has more important shit to do than kill someone.
>>
>>4380991
oh fuck, what if he's summoned as a Berserker
>>
>>4380991
>Cu Could be summoned as a Caster if the lancer space is used
Oh shit, you're right. He could also be summoned as a Berserker too apparently. Crazy shit.
As for Medea Rider, I'm not sure how and I didn't find anything when I looked it up, but very interesting if true.

I don't think Kirei would try to kill Baz again. I'm not exactly sure when he started making deals with her, but I have a feeling we might have interrupted or changed his plans with the whole Kerry thing. And even if we didn't, I don't think Cu will be a Lancer, if he's even in the war at all.
But I could be very very wrong so we can only wait and see.
>>
>>4380515
>Play through the visit to Monica.
>>
Canon Cu can’t be summoned as Berserker. While it would be cool to finally see a Cu that uses Warp Spasm and looks like a fucked is Igor, it’s not gonna happen. The version in game is a Medb fanfic version of him that probably can’t be summoned at Fuyuki except as a replacement for Sasaki Kojirou - not an actual summon. Though if OCs are used, he’d work.
>>
>>4381227
he can be summoned as a Berserker, Alter Berserker is Medb's fanfic and can't actually use warp spasm while in that form
>>
Caster Cu is a specialist at using tunes specifically - but is gimped compared to Lancer Cu. He’s a younger version of Cu from when he was Morrigan’s student. Lancer Cu can technically do everything he can - he just doesn’t since Gae Bolg is better than fireballs and stuff. However, Caster Cu’s runecraft can be used by modern day Magi. In fact, it’s what Bazett’s family specializes in and has been trying to gather knowledge on for centuries. If he gets summoned they might as well just share knowledge and have Bazett survive. Who knows though?
>>
>>4381235
There is no released Cu Berserker beyond Cu Alter.
>>
>>4381247
So like I said, Cu Berserker would have to be an OC. Cu Alter can’t be summoned except as a replacement for Sasaki - who is a fanfic himself.

Kind of wish Caster decided to summon another fanfic character though
>>
Is Dracula available as a summon?
>>
>>4381263
Probably. Not very good outside Transylvania though - where he gets to control the concept of impalement.
>>
>>4381300
He was in Apocrypha, but he hates his vampire form, and he got beat up preety easily - though that was by a fairly strong servant.
>>
>>4381300
Oh wait, no there’s also Lancer Vlad from Fate extra. He’s got A+++ rank protection of the faith making him an insane zealot tank, and he has the ability to summon random spears. That might be good.

With Gray's help secured, you don't really see much more reason to keep hanging about the Clocktower. As fun as you might personally find bumping into people like Luvia, there's definitely a danger to just wandering around one of the places with the highest concentration of people who could absolutely ruin everything you are trying to accomplish. For some reason, you especially dread bumping into Zelretch, even if there is some part of you that thinks he might have some idea on what exactly is going on with this whole 'transported to another world' business. If the Kaleidoscope wasn't actually involved, then you'd be revealing your hand to a very very dangerous man for no reason.

Of course, Zelretch isn't the only person you have to look out for, there's all sorts of nasty people that call the Clocktower their home, and even if they aren't outwardly evil, they are tremendously callous and would stop at nothing to find out the truth about somebody like yourself if they knew of the secrets you hold. Whether that includes kidnapping, extortion or dissection. You excuse yourself from Waver's office, telling Gray to meet you at your apartment in a few hours. First, you have another person you need to meet up with, and it's been quite some time since you last saw the person you know is the most reliable person in the world for you... When she's available, that is.

You have quite some difficulty finding Monica's office, eventually finding it in a rundown basement on the other side of the city. It's not exactly the most luxurious looking base of operations, but it's quite functional, and you can see why Monica might have decided to work out of it. Walking down the steps that lead into the basement, you push open the door to a messy waiting room. She's certainly not going to win clients with presentation, that's for certain.

There's nobody around when you enter, and you can overhear Monica speaking to somebody on the phone in another room. "Sorry Izmaylov, but I don't feel like working with you on another one of your wild goose chase 'track and execute' missions. You'll have to find somebody else. No, I don't care how big the bounty is either! The mission is impossible!" You hear the sound of a phone being slammed down. "Russian asshole." Seems that Monica has a very low opinion on whoever was on the other end of the phone.
>>
With a shrug, you press a bell on a counter, hearing Monica's voice call out to you. "Just a minute!" She really does take this magical mercenary business far less seriously than she should. Not that she should act like Kiritsugu, but still, you can't help but wonder how many clients are turned away by this apparent lack of professionalism. You're kept thinking about that for a few minutes until Monica finally comes out of her personal office and spots you. "Oh! Is that you, Shinji?" She gives you a look with an appraising eye before she finally seems to decide on your identity. "You've grown into a fine young man, haven't you?" She almost sounds sad as she says that. "But I wasn't expecting a visit from you, so what caused you to show up unannounced?" She sounds more pleasantly surprised than she sounds irritated by your sudden arrival though.

"Ah, sorry for not letting you know about showing up beforehand, Monica, it's just that I'm really kind of in a hurry right now, and this meeting is really something I only thought would be a wise idea yesterday." You tell the woman honestly, it's really a shame that Monica is kept away from you by her job and where she lives, you do see her as a sort of older sister figure, even if you're technically older than her. At least mentally, that is.

"Oh no no. It's always a pleasure to see you, Shinji. But what do you actually want?" Despite her pleasant reaction to your arrival, Monica is quick to get down to business. There's an awkward and long pause as she stares at you and gives you a sort of half smile. "Please tell me it's a job. I'm... Kind of low on funds right now."

You give the older woman a charming smile "I want you to help me kill somebody, Monica." You don't know just how well Monica is going to do when she's put up against somebody like Zouken, but if she's anywhere near as effective as she was when you saw her fry that vampire, then the old worm won't even see his death coming.
>>
"Alright, but I won't be able to give you a discount this time on account of uhm... accumulating quite a bit of debt I need to pay off." She frowns deeply as she brings up this debt. "Anyway, depending on who it is, getting rid of them could come to a few hundred thousand pounds. Just don't go asking me to kill any Grand-ranked Magi. They're just a little out of my operating zone." The fact that Monica considers herself to be at a level sufficient to deal with Brands is immensely impressive... Though Touko said once that you could probably make Grand even younger than she or her sister did, if you weren't at risk of sealing designation and dissection for even daring to reveal your true power to the Mage's Association, that is. It's really quite a shame that the only time you'll truly be able to reveal your true capabilities is when you've actually managed to reach a level where the Mage's Association will deem you too powerful to actually want to antagonize. Like the Dead Apostle Ancestors, for example. You have no doubt in your mind that the big players in the Mage's Association would love to be able to study one of them, but unlike the Church, most Magi aren't exactly equipped for dealing with even weaker vampires, and to make an enemy of the Dead Apostle Ancestors might very well end up causing the destruction of the entire Mage's Association.

"Money really isn't an issue for me anymore, Monica. So don't be afraid to ask me for it if you ever find yourself in a situation where you really need it." It's a genuine offer. You wouldn't hesitate to pay off any debt Monica has managed to get herself into without holding it over her. She's helped you enough for you to want to do that for her.

Monica laughs at your confident declaration in being able to pay whatever debts she might've managed to incur. "What, did you win the lottery or something?" She probably won't believe you if you told her of the extent of your fortune, you're probably in the top thousand richest people on the planet at this point, though you aren't quite a billionaire just yet. That however can and will change by the time the fifth war starts. In fact, after ridding yourself of Zouken, you might even make a tech company or some other sort of business venture that you can capitalize on. Maybe Social Media? Smart Phones? You certainly have the capital to create basically anything you want at this point.

"Yeah... Something like that. Anyway, I can pay whatever you ask me for, so long as you don't try to charge me tens of millions, that is." You smirk as you gloat about your personal fortune, yet Monica, having known you since you were just the young scion of a dwindling magus family, clearly doesn't believe your claim to extravagant wealth. Oh well.

"Right, right. So who is it that needs killing?" She changes the topic back to the matter at hand. The assassination of your accursed ancestor.
>>
"My grandfather." Monica's eyes narrow slightly, she's probably had to deal with this sort of thing a lot in the past, and probably wasn't expecting the same sort of thing from you. "I know, I know. It sounds like a typical magus succession thing, but that's not at all the reason I want the old bastard dead. He's a monster, even when compared to this other peers. If you knew what I knew about what he's responsible for, of what he forced my little sister to go through for almost a decade, then you'd understand that this isn't the sort of man who can be allowed to live any longer." Monica, despite her... occupation of choice is a good person, you can tell. She'd probably be overwhelmed with rage if she knew the true extent of Zouken's crimes, just like any good hearted person would be.

"In that case, I'll help you get rid of him... though I'm going to need some more information about the job so I can prepare for it, and to know just how much I should charge you... Don't worry, I'm not going to be extortionate or anything. I'd like to be able to do it for free, but I still need to make a living."

"No really, it's fine! I'm not joking at all when I say I've got more money than I know what to do with, you can charge me whatever you think is fair."

"Then your Grandfather, Zouken... Or well, Zolgen, depending on whether we want to use his real name. He was a Pride-rank in the Mage's Association back when he still actively participated with the other magi, but that was centuries ago, so I have no real idea as to what his current level of skill with magic will be like..." She seems to do some mental calculations as she figures out the risk and the price of her services. "Right. I think that £850,000 should about cover it... You can pay that, right?"

Bored of Monica's constant disbelief over your wealth, you take off your watch and toss it at her, she snatches the slow projectile out of the ease. "That alone is worth an eighth of how much you want me to pay for getting rid of my grandfather." It's a boast, but a true one. You actually really don't know what to do with your money at this point. It's a nice safety net, but just having so much of it with nothing to really spend it on is frustrating. Well, you suppose you can really start to freely reveal your wealth by buying things in Fuyuki City. Depending on how this operation to save Sakura goes, you may end up being forced to buy a new house. Though you're hoping that the house is spared the destruction. Not that you really want to continue living in it, but for the magical knowledge and artifacts hidden within the place. You know that Zouken must've hidden his collection of catalysts somewhere, after all.
>>
She takes a close look at the watch and quickly spots the Rolex branding on it, as well as it incorporating quite a few diamonds in the design "R-really? How... How did you earn so much money, Shinji?" She's finally shocked by your comments, having now come to the realization that you were actually telling her the truth about how much you actually own when it comes to wealth.

"It turns out that I'm really good with investing, that's all." You shrug and dismiss your vast fortune as merely a result of natural born skill. Monica isn't really the sort to pry though, so you should be fine revealing this much. Besides, from the perspective of most people, they would simply consider you immensely lucky.

"Well, if you're capable of paying, then I suppose we should get going then. Unless there's something else you want to do first." Monica is quick to want to get going. Clearly, she's in a hurry. Maybe you should just offer to pay off her debt regardless of how large it is? If she's really struggling with it, you wouldn't mind just gifting her the cash.

I'll back this. Offer to hire her on as a personal bodyguard, and pay off her debt for her. She's a close friend and a valuable ally.

Tell her everything we possibly can about Zouken. Every last detail. And tell her what he's done to Sakura. I want this woman prepared and motivated.

Inform her of all the assets we have to assist her if needed. She wants to hire more mercenaries to work with her? We'll bankroll it. Tell her that if she needs to blow the whole house up to get rid of him, then get it done.

Let's just make sure Sakura isn't there when it happens, of course.

You know, good materials are a lot harder to come by now than they were 200 years ago. Good marble, old growth wood, a lot just isn't around anymore that they used to build with commonly. We may have a lot of money, but there's a reason newly constructed mansions tend to be looked down on. If we're putting it up after 2000, it's probably going to be a heap shittier than the Matou house no matter how much we sink into a new building.
>>
>>4382172
Forrest Gump is not a good example to base your life on, and wanton emotional destruction of your own property is an incredibly stupid thing to do even if it *isn't* basically 100% irreplacable antiques, which the Matou house apparently is.
That said, if we accidentally burn it down while trying to kill Zouken I cast my vote for moving in with the Einzberns. Their miniature castle in the forest is a lot nicer (and larger) than Emiya's house and it works well with our alliance + the fact that we're already taking one of their maids around with us.

>>4382252
>There is literally no reason for us to be bumming on Shirou's sofa with all the money we have
I can't stress my agreement here enough. I know after the original storyline, Hollow Ataraxia, and Carnival Phantasm a lot of people feel like moving in with Shirou is just what Fate characters do, but this isn't his VN we're playing through right now. If we're going to be his friend, let's not be one of his beta orbiters who freeloads at his house because we have no life of our own. Keep our own house up, and if it gets destroyed by mistake we can move in with the Einzberns or get an apartment. There's a whole city to live in, not just Shirou's house.
>>

Honestly, I don't wanna move into the Einzberns at all, they're sketchy as fuck and monsters like Zouken, Illya needs to be rescued though
>>
>>4382387
They're not even comparable to Zouken, but whatever. As long as you don't have a problem with keeping a house of our own I'm not going to argue the point.

>They're not even comparable to Zouken
I said it once, and I'll say it again.
Creating an army of sentient beings, denying them personhood, and using them as slaves may be a more abstract evil than raping a girl for 16 years with magic worms, but it's still evil.
Never forget the Einzberns aren't people we actually want to buddy up with.

Acht fucked up her lifespan and turned her into his psychotic puppet by feeding her lies, they're evil

Anon, there were counterarguments made to this idea the last time this argument cropped up. If you want to relive the debate, reread it. Like I said in my last post, I'm not willing to argue the point now. It doesn't matter enough to really care about.
They aren't people we want to buddy up to, for sure. We're trying to take Illya from them and they have some pretty unscrupulous methods of working on their goals, which they need Illya for. But they're nowhere near Zouken's level of "torture people nonstop for 500 years while turning into a pseudovampire and forgetting all about the original noble goal that motivated the whole thing." Evil isn't binary.

You autists are annoying

Well one post anon, what the fuck were you expecting in Shinji Isekai quest?
>>

Something better than shirou throat fucking
>>
>>4382430
I think its better that anons show an interest in befriending someone instead of trying to stick their dick in anything that moves

Nah

I mean, honestly. Dying at 20 something wouldn’t be that bad 500 years ago.
>>
>>4382489
You do know the average lifespan back then was low because of the death caused by infant and childhood death from malnutrition and disease like measles and smallpox not because people dying in their 30s of old age

Basically if you made it to adulthood, you’re likely to live into your 50s and 60s if not older

What would it take to summon Banana? She's my wife.

I was thinking more of war wounds - which were likely preety lethal. The Eizenbern’s biggest problem is that they treat the Holy Grail War either too much or too little like a war. Basically, in war dying at a young age is acceptable - and the Eizenbern have seen plenty of mundane wars come and go.
That, said. imagine them building / hiring an army of either homunculi or people. They could totally have pulled a Fate / prototype scenario if they tried.

Who?

This is Fuyuki, so you can’t technically summon Japanese heroes apparently... Or divine / demonic spirits

At least, canonically... With Angra Manyou being a thing, who knows?
>>
>>4382538
By which I mean, you can’t summon Japanese servants or Divine spirits using the Fuyuki Grail canonically, same as you can’t summon anti-heroes. But since Angra Manyou took over it none of the rules apply anymore.

If you pulled off a summon the way Medea does it might be possible to summon her, but otherwise it just shouldn't be possible.
All Anger is doing is just residing inside the grail, he isn't actively changing any of the facets of the ritual.
