You are a pilot, a combat certified pilot to be exact. On the frontier, pilots are the most elite of special forces, immensely trained in parkour, athleticism, and— most important of all— titan combat. When soldiers witness a pilot dashing around alleyways, skipping across marble concrete like a pebble jetting over a lake, or even flying at blurring speed via the humble grapple-hook— they all pray their H.U.D.s will display them as blue, friend, rather than red— sudden death.

Before we get to how the Fold-weapon absolutely screwed everything up, including your hard-earned pension; chilling out on Harmony sipping Core-World fine aged wine, lecturing the next generation is not in the cards anymore I’m afraid.

Who are you pilot?

>Name Here friends!

Who do you work for?

>IMC - The Interstellar Mining Corporation, known winners of many Core-World conflicts leading them to have extreme power for what amounts to a Mega-Corp. In recent years, their forceful reclamation of the Frontier, along with their questionable ethics and rampant military spending, have led to a full blown rebellion. Fortunately, you get paid the big bucks, get cutting-edge tech first, and are living rent-free in every Militia-man’s mind. [+High Tech, +Soon-to-be-useless bank account, +Disgust of plebs]

>The Frontier Militia - Recent apparent winners of the Titan-wars, after kicking the IMC’s ass for a while, they have gotten quite the veteran following of pilots. They don’t take shit from anybody and are very successful for being the reincarnation of colonial America. You yourself are quite the patriot, though you try not to mention that a lot of your family’s nest egg originates from the IMC G.I. bill nearly a hundred years ago. The tree of liberty needs the blood of patriots to grow, you are that blood. [+Veterancy, +Soon-to-be-empty bank account, Love of Patriots]

>John Jorgenson

You are a hotblooded patriot! While the The IMC are the scum of the Core-Worlds attempting to infringe on your God-given rights. You’ve had a long career of putting IMC stooges into body-bags— or sometimes the spaghetti strainer that is your titan’s hands if the mood calls for it.

Your IFF marks you as one Sgt. John Jorgenson. Pilots are usually given the rank of officer in respect of their immense experience, training, and talent, although they rarely utilize their command, instead keeping to their titan and themselves.

Speaking of your titan, what is she? Your veterancy leaves you much leeway in customizing your titan; although you don’t get as much goodies as those IMC stooges, the militia does steer much your way when they do get the chance. For now, let’s get an idea of what base is your Titan using?

>Monarch - A more recent addition to the battlefield, her “upgrade core” system rewards pilots who keep their titans in one piece. Many fear Monarchs that have feasted upon many foes over their lifetimes, with the peak monarchs resembling the Apex-predator of the battlefield. Before that though, they’re more known for fighting pilots than reasonably fighting titans. Based off of the Vanguard, although the IMC scientists have advanced the platform in ways that sheer plagiarism could not. Its Ion beam steals energy, scaling higher depending on the energy concentration of its victim. Veteran pilots of the Monarch have are known for their sadistic tendencies of slowing their victims with the Ion beam, draining their life force, and stepping on them in such order.

>Vanguard - Fan favorite of the Militia. Fan favorite thing to plagiarize by the IMC. The Vanguard is the first home-brew Titan of the Militia. Designed for long recon, the Vanguard is usually reserved for those in the Militia’s Special Recon Squadron, although special requests are made sometimes. Slow recharging shields, though theoretically self-sufficient. [Kinda expensive, you might not get cool gadgets for personal equipment.]

>Ion - It’s in the name. Specializing in Direct-Energy weapons, Ion uses its splitter rifle to hurl momentous amounts of plasma downfield, it’s ability to triple it’s splitting at the expense of shield energy leaves many dropships in cold shivers. Its vortex shield allows it to block bullets, missiles, and all sorts of physical munitions in their tracks— only to send them back with exceeding velocity and accuracy. Ion’s laser core is like a scythe across the battlefield, coring other titans with ease and vaporizing grunts with laughter.

>Ronin - Like its Japanese synonym, the Ronin goes around slashing its victims. What it doesn’t have in common is the huge fuck-off “LeadWall” shotgun, known for turning daring pilots into paste. It’s AI core is tuned to calculating deflecting trajectories for munitions above 15mm, although veteran Ronin pilots have been known to attempt to deflect grunt small arms fire back at them for sport. The phase dash allows the Ronin to get all up close and personal without taking the heat such an action usually warrants. When the sword core is active, the Ronin is known to bisect other titans, and sufficiently threatening houses, in short order.

>Tone - While IMC pilots may scream “metafag” at you, I assure you that Tone is a good allrounder. His 40mm tracking cannon is a fan favorite for sniping ejecting pilots, violating many Core-World notions of shooting escaping combatants. His Sonar-Lock ability allows him to fire a Sonar-Scanner, giving him a sitrep of the surrounding area while also feeding into his tracker cannon. His tracking missiles are a pain in the ass, doubly so when his salvo core is active.
>>

>NorthStar - Fuck you. Sitting in the corner of the battlefield with his Plasma-railgun, he fires a stream of hot plasma at exceeding speeds, being the sniper that everyone despises in spaceStalingrad. Moreover, his VTOL ability is unique among titans, allowing him superb maneuvering capability. The tether-trap allows the pilot to relive child-hood memories of trapping small animals, then killing them from afar with his father’s gun. Cluster missile is too I guess. His flight core is a real fuck you to everyone on the field, as he gets up in the sky and rains it all down from above with plenty of missiles.

>Legion - Minigun. He has a huge Minigun that should instead be called a Big Gun, also known as the Predator Cannon. Additionally, he can push others back with his power shot, while hiding behind his cuc- I mean power-shield. Moreover, when his Smart-core is ready, he has aimbot, killing everyone in front of him with 100% accuracy, or so the Legion-scientists say.

>Scorch - Initially improvised from fire-fighter Titans, it appears that a highly flame resistant titan makes a good fire-maker too. High health along with his propensity to start immense fires, he has it all. A thermite launcher, fire slams, incendiary traps, and a flame core. He likes fire, although he can be a little slow at times.

Do you think we should go Vangaurd for long-term survivability or Ion/Legion for raw firepower?
>>
>>4323156
I will say that repairing your Titan is within the scope of your abilities. Vanguard's main advantage is that it recharges its shields when not under fire, allowing it to basically have a shield buffer most of the time.

Other than NorthStar and Monarch, all Titans have defensive abilities that prevent them from being insta-gibbed. Although Monarch is similar to Vanguard, in that it can "vampire" energy away with its ion beam.

As a Legion Titan, she is able to put immense fire downstream. To accommodate the great amounts of bullets she requires, she has an onboard munitions fabricator. During Smart-Core, that fabricator is overcharged, leading to a brief stint of infinite ammo as well. Moreover, the power-shield is considered one of the most useful abilities in its coverage of the titan. The power shot has quite the kick against foes at close range while penetrating heavily at longer ranges. The Smart-core is perhaps the most feared ability on the field, as it gives legion the ability to shred anything in her sight—up, down, right, left, or upside down.

Over the years, you’ve gotten to customize her bit by bit, even rebuild her from scratch a few times. What makes her different from the pack?

[10 points]

Passives:
>Improved Fusion Reactor [4 points]
-Does what it says on the tin. More energy = More energy for abilities such as power-shield, power-shot, electric smoke, also the core charges a little faster too.
>Turbo Core [3 points]
-Faster dashes and more of them. You can get out of harm's way extra quick or get in even quicker.
>Assault Core [4 points]
-Auto-titan mode becomes much more competent. Auto-titan now intelligently utilizes abilities and can successfully carry out more complicated orders, although a pilot’s touch is always the peak of titan combat.

Weapons:
>Enhanced Electric Smoke [3 points]
-A rare upgrade usually only given to Monarchs, this gives your electric smoke a real kick. Humanoids die extra-quick in this fog of death. Additionally, the area of effect is doubled and it now does significant damage against vehicles as well.
>Predator Cannon Accelerator [4 points]
-Most Legion pilots are satisfied with the brief warm-up and subsequent hailfire of huge bullets. The accelerator halves the warm-up time while doubling the rate of fire. The magazine depletes quicker, but when Smart-core is active, the accelerator truly shines.
>A-Wall polarization [2 points]
-A simple modification to the power-wall, the A-wall it generates now vaporizes fools who jump straight into it. Additionally, its constitution has been buffed by half.

Utilities:
>Phase-Assisted Munitions Fabricator [3 points]
-The upgrade that all Legion pilots beg for, this upgrade makes reloading a thing of the past. Based on the Smart-Core’s ability to overcharge the fabricator, instead this feature is active all the time. No reloading is required.
>Modded Fabricator [4 points]
-A rare breed of fabricator among Titans, instead preferred among advanced recon teams. The fabricator has been modified to produce a catalogue of items, most notably the more advanced species of spare parts, pilot equipment, and whatever else a recon team might need. It is often forgone in light of its great cost, complexity, and energy-intensiveness.
>Ion Beam [3 points]
-In combat, it is usually futile to rely on the reactor to regenerate shields simply due to the fact that it is much more efficient to use energy in weapons systems than an active shield. The Ion beam rectifies this problem by making the energy free and in large quantities, by stealing it. Fortunately, the most power hungry system— shields— is more than able to take the brief immense surges of power. Sadistic pilots have been known to zap humans for the smallest amount of energy. Also, the Ion Beam is useful for its ability to drastically slow down those drained for a good few seconds.

In 40k we peobably wont find any good place to produce our titan parts, plus the fact that the mechanicus would probably rather steal our tech and not let us get it back, or deem it tech heresy since titans got A.I.

will we have a smart AI to keep us from getting lonely?
>>
>>4323723
Legion's AI is relatively smart, she just does not have advanced protocols for combat. Legion will give advice, alerts, cautions, and even taunts, just won't be able to do what a pilot could do, like throwing caution to the wind and stomping the whole enemy line under cover of the power-shield.

Pilots, the cream of the crop. In this case, Militia pilots are just better, the IMC pays for mercs, the Militia pays for freedom fighters. The patriotic blood swelling inside of you is a testament to your great skills as the elite of the Militia.

Pilot Customization:

[Because you chose the Militia, pick 2.]

>Your speed. Even among pilots, you’ve been known to take the title, Speed-Demon, very seriously. Grunts barely have time to call for help by the time you’ve flown across the battlefield, dropped a grenade, and flown off into the sunset onto an enemy titan. Moreover, you are a master of slide hopping, where one utilizes their jump-pack to constantly remain just above ground, allowing one to keep their speed even on flat surfaces. Also, you’re pretty good at moving around in general.

>Your piloting. You’re gifted, that’s for sure. You and your Titan are at incredible levels of sync, often performing advanced maneuvers on the fly. One time you swept a Ronin off his feet with a quick leg sweep, only to surf him into the air on your Predator Canon. Moreover, you’re just all around better in a Titan. You bring the man into the Titan.

>Your intelligence. If the IMC didn’t blow up every center of higher learning on the frontier, maybe you would have been an egghead instead. You love tinkering with your Titan, pilot equipment, and weapons attachments. You even saved your Titan once from the feared “Doomed State” by feeding it the batteries of another Titan, along with a few cannibalized parts here and there. Between you and your Titan, you can win any dictionary contest.

>Your body mods. You had undergone regeneration, a process which makes the pilot’s brain much more neuroplastic. In common terms, you learn things much, much faster. Unfortunately, you’ve also lost a lot of motor memory, having to relearn things from your childhood. At this point, you’ve surpassed your previous knowledge and can only grow from here. Also, your skin has been replaced with synthskin, allowing you to cloak your entire body to great effect. Only pilots and exceptional individuals ever notice the slight offtone color that the cloak generates, and even then, they often fall prey to it.

These two look like they would work great in tandem to each other. At least in the long run.

I guess it's only me who likes the body mods. Its kinda almost effectively two powers in one, but the Chameleon skill probably only works when nude.

>>4323797
Does the skin mod affect the clothes and equipment you wear, or only your skin?
>>
>>4323841
There is a cloak suit, but having it on the skin allows much longer durations of cloak. During the campaign, you could use a cloak kit, but it is much shorter than the skin assisted one.

Otherwise, yeah, clothes are cloaked too.

Now, back to the present. Even pilots can feel fear, well they already do if the corpses of crushed pilots are any evidence. Right now, you are on the planet that is to be ground zero of an ancient, refurbished superweapon.

The Fold Weapon, a recreation of an ancient superweapon discovered by the IMC’s research division, ARES. It obliterates its targets, usually worlds, by folding time and space over itself, often to catastrophic effect. You are on Typhon, a temperate world not too unlike what the holovids tell of Earth, fighting a guerrilla campaign after the Militia fleet was ambushed by the static defenses of the planet, which were assumed to be much, much less threatening than they were. Fortunately, it appears that some green newbie pilot got the job done and wrecked the weapon. Harmony, the Militia Capitol, is saved.

“All units! Get to the nearest extraction point and get out, the Fold Weapon is being turned onto Typhon!”

The nearest Militia forces were miles away, shit out of luck, stuck in the middle of a rainforest where you were harassing IMC forces hours before. You doubt that they’ll get evaced either. In fact, you don’t think that you’ll be alone in being the first human space-time sandwich, or rather human space-time wrap considering all the folding that’s about to occur. You yourself were wandering a grassy valley when the announcement to retreat came.

“Pilot, I cannot predict the effects of a planet-wide space-time fold. I suggest finding shelter before the criticality occurs.”

Already, you could see mountains being sucked into the sky while in other instances, the ground caved into huge sinkholes. These are the end times for Typhon, holy shit.

How will you try to survive the fold? You are currently inside Legion

>Get to higher ground! In every disaster movie, the people on high ground die last! At least you don’t have to worry what’s above you.

>Get inside a cave! Surely the earth would protect you? You’ve always been an indoors sort of guy.

>Into the rainforest! The plant life might cushion some of the absolute wonkiness that is about to occur? You saw on a documentary that animals have a 6th sense to these kind of things, well maybe not folding...
>>
>>4323921
Well, we are gonna fucking die anyway, there is literally no point to running unless we have some way to reach Evac. So really, the only question is how do we want to die?

I say go for the high ground. Sure we will be crushed by the earth as it folds in on us, but at least we get a nice view.

“AT, let’s go to the top! You’re rated for TitanFall, even if we fall, we’ll make it somehow. Trust me! I haven’t failed you yet!”

Moving your custom Legion Titan, AT-5600, also known as Alpha-Tango-Five-Six-Zero-Zero, you rush to the top. It is at times like these that you are reminded that Legion Titans are based off of the old Ogre, making them painfully slow. Nevertheless, you’ve got to try! As you near the top, you feel the planet quake, shaking the earth beneath you violently.

“Pilot Jorgenson, I am rated for the heaviest of arms fire, yet I cannot ascertain the odds of our current survival plan. Furthermore, I detect exotic matter and extreme thermal disturbances underneath us. This will be difficult. I recommend the power shield in case of violent debris.”

>Roll 1d100 +20 (heavy as hell), best of 3 to not fall off as the earth folds beneath you, and not to get ganked by a stray piece of exotic matter.

“AT, hold on tight! This ground is our ticket to life!”

As you finish reassuring your robotic companion, two streams of plasma scythe across the hillside, barely missing AT’s legs. While this occurs, a strange green bolt flies down from the clouds, veering dead center to AT.

“AT, Power-Shield!”

You activate the shield just in time to block the wicked green bolt. The power-shield immediately browns to a red color. Even the heavens are fighting you it seems.

“Jorgenson, the power-shield is not rated for exotic matter, but in this case, letting it take the brunt of the damage was wise. It would have not hurt my chassis too much, but I predict with 60% certainty that the radiation would have penetrated my hull, potentially liquifying your body.”

“Jesus AT, do I look like I want to hear that!”

“No Pilot, but Militia psychological testing indicates that self-preservation is a key motivator to high pilot effectiveness.”

As you take a second for a breather, you notice that the landscape is looking like some evil version of Harmony— flaming sky islands form, the earth claims miles of land at a time into huge chasms, in the end, all that looks relatively enticing are the few bubbles of normalcy, where the folding is not too bad.

“Pilot, I am sensing extreme light scattering, space-time is warping around us to such a degree that light is being bent.”

Upon closer inspection, you think you just saw the beginning, middle, end, of Typhon in just one of these bubbles. It flickers between a molten landscape, bountiful lake, and barren landscape— only to return to temperate rainforest within the span of seconds.

“Pilot Jorgenson, probability processors indicate that we will have a higher likelihood of survival if we head to these bubbles of reality. Our current location puts survival near 0%, we must head to them for better odds.”

“AT, I’m not going to lie, I think we’re better off dying here.”

“You must overcome your human fear of the unknown pilot. My programming tells me that there are no cowards in the militia.”

“Shit.”

Roll 1d100 -10 (slow) +20 (Tanky), best of 3, for how damaged you are by the end of your hell run to a zone of reality.

>92+10 = 102, Very Great Success!

“Alright AT, we’re gunning for the one that just flashed the tropical beach. If I can’t retire on Harmony, I’ll do it castaway style on a cool island!”

“Pilot, your reasoning for our destination leaves me in worry. Furthermore that bubble has recently flashed volcanic, cryovolcanic, and smog landscapes just as equally as its more temperate counterparts.”

“AT, you’re a real killjoy, you know that?”

“Apologies pilot, I will attempt to not kill joy as it is a critical component of pilot success.”

After your brief banter, AT moves at great speeds, nearly unrealistic for a Legion Titan if it were not skidding downhill more similar to how a pilot moves with his jump gear than the lumbering warmachine that it really is.

During your badass run, you block another wicked bolt, this one blue. Some of it splashes off, ablating onto AT’s arms and legs.

“Pilot, some of the exotic matter has interacted with the paint after-finish on my arms and legs. Scans indicate that the new substance should ablate energy weapons 30% better than standard Militia paint. Furthermore, the new blue finish should improve your morale, as it is logged that you prefer blue.”

“AT, you’ve got some cool highlights now! You didn’t tell me you were into make up. I like a woman with some style!”

At that, AT stomps a little harder next step, and you bite your tongue. Tough woman.

“Militia chat logs lead me to assess that you are a smart-ass, but further research is required.”

Soon after dodging another ethereal bolt, you make it into the bubble just as it flashes into a verdant green. You could almost swear that AT was exposing the cockpit more than she should have, nevertheless- you made it!

“We are entering the bubble pilot, prepare yourself. I note that you are more sickly after eating Militia rations, of which you have consumed double portions today, should I add to your to-do-list tummy-relief?”

“You sound like a mom AT. I joined the Militia to get away from my family, not relive it.”

“Noted. I shall act more motherly from now on to soothe your stress.”

You hit the armrest of your seat, only to be reminded that all parts of a Titan are bulletproof- your hand hurts.

“I cannot kiss the wound, but I can massage it if you would like.”

Imagining being crushed by those hands leaves you with more thoughts than you would like…

Nevertheless, you make it through the bubble. A sense of extreme vertigo undertakes you, maybe AT was right after all, you do need some tummy-relief. The feeling of vertigo fades just as fast as it came. As you come to your senses, you notice that you’re in a forest, next to a grassy field. It’s all very green, in fact, you see even more green in the distance…

“Pilot, prepare for combat, based on zoological studies, the local fauna appear to be extremely aggressive and potentially intelligent. The long fangs and huge grouping suggest a tribal structure and warlike attitude. Furthermore, they appear to be fighting unidentified human forces who favor laser weaponry.”

“What in the goddamn AT? I want you to mother me, not prepare me for battle!”

To be continued in 3 hours while I take a break.

“AT, am I missing something, or is that a goddamn trench? At least they wear red well, though those flak jackets look pretty heavy.”

“Jojo, please redirect your attention to the green horde that is approaching them. They are heavily armed, if their artillery is any indicator. Processors indicate that their lack of full body armor lends them to be vulnerable to the Predator Cannon. Moreover, the human forces seem to rely heavily on energy weapons, which our hull is prepared to ablate.”

“My name is not Jojo AT, but I don’t mind…”

“It seems the motherhood protocols are working. Nicknames are known to foster initial resentment, followed by great friendliness. I shall continue.”

As she finishes, the front lines of the green horde is quaked by immense artillery shells.

“Artillery trajectories calibrated, please avoid the incoming artillery I have marked on the H.U.D. sweetheart. Also, upon closer inspection, please note the uniform these men carry. The markings use latin characters, although I do not know what PDF means, perhaps it is an acronym?”

Similar to Titan-Fall indicators, incoming artillery is effectively mapped out by AT. Wow, those guys in the trench look like they’re going to have a hard time, that only thinned the front line. There has to be thousands of them. Whoever those PDF guys are, they look like a sorry bunch.

“Back to the line battle occurring in front of us…”

“Yes Pilot, by my scans, I estimate that there are around 10,000 green humanoids present. This is in stark contrast to the 1,324 humans holding the line, not including the artillery crews which I am sure are many miles away. Many, if not all, of these soldiers will die if no one intervenes.”

that isn't what a Rosarius does.
They are symbols of great faith and devotion in the imperial cult, that also contains small but potent personal void shields ala iron halo.

They are typically held by cardinals upwards as well as cannoness of the SoB, along with a few of the more powerful zealots of the church. Chaplains and such get them due to a deal with the church and as a sign of trust and peace between their institutions.

They do not have anti-warp fuckery, they just have force fields in them. Anti warp shit outside of ship generators isn't that widespread.

“Jojo, you have destroyed Titans yourself without my assistance, that is a lie.”

“Well, pilots are different. We’re crazy enough to jump on them.”

“Nevertheless, I suggest switching to long-range mode and utilizing our flanking position to bleed out the flank facing us. The Predator Cannon should make short work of these non-sentients. Range is our key advantage here Jojo.”

“Woah, woah, woah, why aren’t they sentient AT?”

“No sentient being could write Trukz on the side of a motorized vehicle and seriously fight. I hypothesize that instead they are an advanced species of mimicry, leading to advanced results, while not having the intelligence required to realize a society. These are simply walking parrots.”

“Interesting hypothesis, anyways…”

Combat Tutorial!

DCs will be made on the spot by me! I am an honest QM, I swear. If you want to utilize something in a specific way, please mention it. For now, groups of enemies will be treated as a big blob you can target at will. Special enemies, I.E. a Warboss, can be targeted specifically.

Moreover, enemies have a distance away from you:
Very Far - Over 1km away.
Far - 500-1000m
Medium - 100-500m
Close - 10-100m
Very Close - 0-10m

You will generally have three things to roll for in a combat turn:
Attack: BRRRRR. In all seriousness, you can write in to aim for specifics or include a
Movement: Move towards X, Move away from X, or Stay. (X in this case is the battlefield)
Tactical: Power-Shot? Power-Shield?

Your Smart-Core will always be charging, if you use your core, then it buffs your attack by a lot and allows you to attack everything at once. Since you have Enhanced Reactor, it charges 25% every turn.
>>
[2/2]
In this instance, you only see the “blob” of Orkz, a trio of Trukz, and a Warboss far in the back.

“Blob” of Orkz - Medium
Trukz - Medium
Warboss - Far

An example plan write in would be thus:
>Plan Bullet Hose
>Hose down the flank of the “Blob” of Orkz with the Predator Cannon.
>Stay put.
>Power-Shot

Then we do 1d100 -??? +??? Bo3 for attack.
Then we skip movement, but would roll for it if we did move.
Power shot buffs attack, so we do not roll. Power-Shield would help you when something shoots at you.

Then we roll for stuff attacking you. (just 1d100).

And blam, we have a Quest Pizza.

Thus, you have to fight
“Blob” of Orkz - Medium
Trukz - Medium
Warboss - Far

And have allies:
Trench of PDF - Medium
PDF artillery - Very Far

Write in your plans (Should be 4 Greentext lines):
>Plan XYZ:

>>
>>4324530
https://titanfall.fandom.com/wiki/Predator_Cannon
>Trivia
>The Predator Cannon likely fires 20mm or slightly lower caliber ammunition. We can deduce that it fires a smaller round than the 20mm XOTBR-16 Chaingun variants as it deals less damage per shot than this weapon system, and the muzzle report from each bullet is much less loud, suggesting that each individual round is a smaller cartridge or has lower mass and propellant charge than a 20mm round. It is most likely the same round the Kraber rifle uses. This is of course, negated by the Predator Cannon's monstrous rate of fire and formidable accuracy. Observing the diameter of the Predator Cannon's eight muzzles would also suggest a narrower cartridge than the X016 uses and a considerably smaller one than the 40mm Tracker Cannon's. In addition, real life rotary cannons of closely comparable dimensions, such as the Phalanx CIWS, fire 20mm ammunition.

I will assume 20mm then. More than sufficient to overpenetrate and kill an Ork or two behind the initial victim.
In multiplayer, I assume that every time a pilot is hit with these, it's a grazing shot. No way in hell does a pilot need THREE 20mm rounds to die.

“AT, we’ll mow them down from here. Engage short-range mode, at this density and distance, we literally cannot miss.”

“Reviewing your combat records, there are a few very embarrassing moments, like that one time that pilot jumped straight onto my chassis despite you trying to hit him.”

“Hey AT, he was fast! And I was a newbie back then!”

“Yeah sure sweetie.”

As your mother-son dialogue continues, the Predator Cannon is revving up.

“Let’s hose them down AT.”

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. It takes a whole three seconds to empty out the first magazine. Across the battlefield, hundreds of meters away, dozens of Orkz fall prey to 20mm custom cartridge rounds, specially fitted for the long barrel of the Predator Cannon.

Reloading, it takes one second.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. A whole three seconds again. The Predator Cannon has a standard magazine size of 100 bullets, 20mm bullets to be exact. These bullets often overpenetrate the poorly armored Orkz who often rely on their “touf” hide to tank shots.

Reloading, again.

And again.

By the time you’re on your fifth magazine, nearly half a thousand Orkz have died or become incapacitated.

“My audio is picking up words from those greenskins. They keep pointing at us and yelling ‘Daka’, this is concerning Jojo.”

“Haha, Predator Cannon go Brrrr.”

>85+40 = 124, Bombastic shot.

“AT, power-shot.”

“Yes dear.”

What is a power-shot? A power-shot is when a Predator-Cannon stops revving and instead utilizes an advanced A-Wall system to corral all six barrels into firing at the same time, at one thing. The short-range version of the power-shot leaves a little scattering, instead acting as a huge shotgun with a tight choke.

When fired at a grouping of Orks as wide as the field itself, the shot goes through… everyone. The additional velocity afforded by the A-Wall enhancement and tight grouping means that everything in a straight line simply turns to mist.

“Scans indicate that 137 greenskins have been bisected, with 21 being beheaded, and an additional 52 losing their limbs.”

“I like round numbers, why isn’t it 200?”

“210 is a round number Jojo.”

“Not round enough.”

“Fear of numbers can be considered a disorder…”

By the end of its course, the Power-Shot has created a literal hole in the Ork formation, with mangled Ork “bitz” all around. A PDF soldier’s mouth salivates at the image, knowing his next rations.

Lots of the PDF die. A lot. When your opponent outnumbers you 9 to 1, there’s only so much the defensive advantage can afford you. Ork ‘nades’ rain into the trenches, skrap is fired at head height, decapitating any brave PDF. It’s a bad time to be in the PDF right now.

“Nearly a third of the trench has fallen Jojo, they are doing what I believe you call a rush.”

“Shit, wouldn’t want to be those guys right now. Here's to hoping the men in red push them back.”

>>4324667
fire boolets are A-OK. Can't be made on the fly though, gotta make them before battle unless you wanna zap your energy a lot, which is fine if you do it every once in a while.

Energy recharges, it's just that modded fabrication is energy intensive, so you can't just change your ammo to super-fragmentation rounds 24/7. A turn of modded ammo would be something I envision happening maybe once per battle right now.
>>
>64+30 = 94, lots die.

Orks are a common commodity on the battlefield. They also commonly die, a lot. Perhaps it’s the Tita- *cough* knight in the distance cheering them on, or the fact that they’ll be subjected to torture if they lose this fight. The PDF steels itself and fires volley after volley of lasfire into the Ork horde.

“Those laser guns are impressive, especially in that formation. They have killed over a thousand in the past three minutes.”

“I hate laser guns, they don’t sound as cool…”

“Immature child…”

Two Thousand Orks die. Artillery rains down from above as basilisks fire shell after shell with surprising accuracy. Moreover, there’s no friendly fire!

“Impressive barrage, I estimate at least ten artillery guns in operation based off of timing, angle, and targeting.”

“Artillery is for a bunch of pansies!...”

>80+50 = Zoom zoom

A warband of ten Trukz suddenly careen out of the horde, crushing a few Orks who could not get out of the way. They begin blitzing towards AT at ludicrous speeds, with some having rockets strapped onto the Trukz.

“This is a desecration to machines everywhere. Let us obliterate them Jojo.”

“You know, now that you mention it, they’re getting closer.”

“The closest Truck is 80 meters away, they are the biggest threat at the moment. Please deal with them pilot.”

It's pretty big. If they shoot at you, you can block the gunfire. Additionally, you can shoot while having the shield up. You could swing the shield around and vaporize any poor soul who tries to gank you, although at that point, why not just punch them?

“Jojo, eliminate these affronts to technology. By my scans, those Trucks are not rated against 20mm. The Predator Cannon will make short work of them.”

“You don’t need to tell me twice!”

Sufficiently reloaded and revved up, each of the 10 trucks go down without too much fanfare, except the last one. You took your time with this one since it moved so erratically that you missed it a few times.

“Pilot, I believe you need to retake the pilot’s test if you cannot hit a moving target.”

As she finishes her words, the truck faces AT head on, intending to ram at great speed.

“That truck is exceeding 200 kilometers an hour. Stop him Jojo.”

Intending to savor the last kill, like any great pilot, you perform an execution. You sidestep and extend AT’s gunshield, right into the trajectory of the truck. It simply ceases to be, instead becoming hot vapor and a slight tinge of red on the otherwize azure blue shield.

“Greenskin annihilated. Good work Pilot.”

Again, a PDF soldier’s stomach grumbles at the display.

sick as fuck kill. The best part about this is we now have cover in the form of several decimated trucks we can probably stack on top of each other. >43+40 = 83, AT knows you're better than this, but you get the job done.

Feeling the high of standing in one place and obliterating a tribal army, you grab the smoldering remains of an Ork truck, with multiple holes on both sides.

“AT, I know you have a strong throwing arm, let’s see how this rocket truck can really fly!”

“No.”

“Yes.”

“Fine.

With the grace of an olympic thrower, the truck soars through the air, vaguely in the direction of the WarBoss. It lands dozens of meters away from him, instead crumpling 24 orks, before combusting and further killing 13 orks.

“I haven’t thrown stuff in a long time AT, c’mon, cut me some slack. All we use is the Predator-Cannon all day…”

“....you’re better than this pilot.”

Taking that as your queue to do the real damage. You finish revving up the Predator-Cannon, flicking it to long-range mode. A true torrent of 20mm bullets fly towards the warboss. Unlike his tribal brethren, he wears an inkling of armor and a stronger hide. Nevertheless, in one barrage, his right arm comes off- mangled. In another, his torso is eviscerated, and in the third, he is hit again dead center mass. As the third magazine empties, light can be seen through the Boss.

“Lip sync-reading estimate with 95% certainty that he is muttering ‘umie, too much daka, and thic krumper.”

“What a freak. Glad he didn’t get anywhere near close, sucks about the truck…”

“Pilot, it appears that the remaining 3,241 Orks have begun infighting 15.3 seconds after the boss had fallen to the ground. I suggest that we take this time to rendezvous with the PDF soldiers, this battle is over.”

As you make your way over to the PDF, the constant staccato of artillery helping end the rapidly shrinking greenskin force was reassuring. As you approach the lines, many cheer and imitate your Predator-Cannon, yelling “brrrrrr”, yet much quieter than your weapon of mass devastation.

One man is distinct in the line. He motions to greet you with a handwave while shouting

“Freeblade, we thank you for your most-timely assistance. The PDF of New Gloria have won this battle with your aid against the Warboss ‘Biggest Krumpa’. Would you like to discuss your reward in helping us in our time of need, Sir Knight?”

“Yes. A man needs meat and beer, or at least that’s what my dad said.”

“Well spoken Sir Knight. You will find familiar company among our force then. Please follow me to more comfortable quarters, follow me Sir.”

With great sorrow, you disembark from AT, leaving the gentle shell that is her hull.

“Pilot Jojo, excessive attachment to the pilot’s seat can be a detriment to your physical wellbeing, please remember to exercise.” AT communicates to your helmet.

After a short walk, with AT trailing close behind, you make it to the tent with the fancy-looking man. As you enter, four servants leave past you, while one remains within the command tent, ready to cater your lunch.

“Please know I mean no foul intent, but I have not seen your face yet Sir Knight. If we are to eat, I would like to know the face of the man who eats beside me, one who I have shed blood with.”

“Pilot, based on his speech pattern and body language, he is calm and collected. I predict with 70% certainty that he does mean ‘no foul intent’. You take off your helmet, needing a second for your pupils to readjust to the natural light and lack of your cool, blue H.U.D.

The man motions towards his helmet, before undergoing what you assume is an unfastening procedure. His helmet’s numerous blue lights give a sense of archaeotech. If his Knight is any indicator, this man must have been an immensely wealthy noble before becoming a freeblade, what brings him to humble New Gloria? The man finishes clicking and turning, taking off his helmet, soon reserving a seat at the wooden dinner table.

His face reveals a man in his twenties, with a scar on his left cheek from extreme heat. You’ve seen what grazing shots of lasguns can do, it’s never the best way to go. While young, your interest in this freeblade’s quest outweighs your theorizing of his background. Is he simply wandering? Does he have a personal crusade? Or is he an exile? The latter seems the most likely considering the backwater status of New Gloria. No matter, you must get his employ, for New Gloria’s sake, and for your liege’s prestige.

As he rambles about accommodations, two servants enter, heaving a large keg of what you assume to be honey ale if the sweet odor is any indicator.

“Honeybeet ale, it’s the best ale you will find anywhere sans the merchants’ quarter. Please, drink your fill.”

New Gloria is the "Tutorial Island" of 40k. Earth-like, Ork Infested, and recently added to the Imperium. While a bit meta, you can ask away your questions without fearing "Inquisition teleports behind you, throws you into spaceGulag"

Now that I think about it, Multi-Las hooked up to a titan's fusion-reactor could glass a battlefield. Energy intensive as hell though.
I could imagine a shoulder-mounted lascannon similar to what Ion has, but at that point, why not recreate ion's shoulder mounted laser beam using the modded-fabricator.

Can we fabricate a small laspistol sized laser turret, one on each of Legion's shoulders for the sole purpose of shooting down any incoming grenade and RPG coming our way? I say laspistol because if they get too big then the extra weight might slow their rotation, and they only need to be accurate enough to fire at anything coming our way within 50 meter. in addition to shooting people trying to mount the back of our titan.

1. I think Militia tech is generally better, sans some circumstances, than 40k tech. Although the lasers are generally on par, with militia lasers having some advantages such as power efficiency and penetration while 40k has durability, ease of manufacture, and overcharge.
2. If you add turrets to AT, then you need additional processing power to man them, unless you're using them like a tactical ability to manually aim. Automated turrets require processing power, so you would need to upgrade AT's CPU first.

Generally, outside of combat, assuming you have material and energy, you can create whatever non-insane militiatech you want.

I'm no military expert, nor do I frequent /k/, but I got some ideas.

>Wrist or shoulder mounted rocket pods that fire flashbang payloads or EMP's? For things that can't be taken down with the conventional 20mm bullet. Like really beafy things or shields.

>External mustard and tear gas dispensers for non environment small creatures suppression.

>Modifying Legion so she can crouch. Lower profile means smaller hit box. Better coupled with the gun shield.

>Additional cameras mounted to the back like a car's rear view mirror so we get 360 degree vision.

>Create VTOL drones with good range and camera quality. You know how bullets eventually go down if you fire them into the air? Wire visuals with the drone and we can utilize the BRRRRRRR as improvised hazardous artillery, or load 20mm fragmentation shells. Make it rain death from +100km away with questionable accuracy. Pic related.

>Make some of the Titanfall Titan tech like the shield draining cannon. Become better than Monarch.

>Small flare launcher in case we're lucky enough to encounter dummy missile heat seeking system tech.

>Create Solar Panel Backpack that can be unfolded for additional energy to use in tandem with the titan's own energy reserves. If energy generated from unfolding solar panels is terribly low then scrap the idea. I had the idea to use it while stationary to charge powers faster, or to power the lasers.

>Disregard the use of a drum fed magazines in favor for a belt for continuous fire. Every second spend reloading is every less second wasted to loading a fresh drum and waiting a second or two for the big minigun to spool up fast enough to fire. Modify belt feeding mechanism so it can be easily removed in favor for drum magazines again, should the belt be severed or damaged.

>It requires power to rotate a minigun, and even more to make it rotate faster i.e. shoot faster. Create more power so the barrel rotates/fires faster.

>Consider the use of different kinds of 20mm munitions. Depleted uranium, armor piercing, giant hollow points, incendiary, armor piercing incendiary, making a shit ton of bullets and getting a priest to bless them for when we need to kill demons.

>Get a priest to bless legion for warp resistance armor, or so Legion can effectively punch a demon into a bloody warp mist. Think the magical ability in DnD so you can punch incorporeal things, like ghosts.

>Upgrade AT's CPU so we can mount small laser turrets to target incoming explosives and infantry. Good against ankle biters, Titan slayers, and additional dummy fire support against a horde of enemies much too close.

>cameras including thermal, motion, and metal detection
>>
>>4325568
We might not want to stick to one place for too long. Perhaps if we do enough we can earn ourselves a ship, and convert it into a mobile space fairing manufactorum. It can produce standard imperial weaponry and ammunition as the store front, while we keep the good stuff in the back.
>>

Taking a healthy chug of honeybeet ale alongside a bountiful bite of boar, you clear your throat. *AHEM, SMG USERS, OR SHIT PLAYERS AS I LIKE TO CALL THEM...

“Where am I?”

“You are on New Gloria Sir, a world recently integrated into the Imperium.”

You squint at him, egging him to go on.

“Very well, due to its Feudal technology level when discovered, it was put up for sale by the Adminstratum to the highest bidder.”

Sheesh, sounds like the way the IMC rolls…

“Is the IMC stationed here?”

The man squints at you in confusion, before answering.

“I assure you that the only sanctioned forces here are New Gloria’s PDF and a token Guard force, although occasionally we do see noble tourists who like to see the Orks without all the danger; they naturally keep their retinues with them.”

Without danger? Those PDF guys looked like they were on death's door before their heroics and our intervention...

“What system is this?”

The man again squints at you, yet this time quickly banishes his confusion with an understanding smile. You could swear he muttered something about ‘Knights being an odd bunch’.

“This is the Kleftogiannis system, within intersector Carilli. We’ve petitioned to have the name changed to the ‘Gloria System’ for decades, but the Admnistratum moves slowly I’m afraid.”

“You speak of Knights; are there any others on ‘New Gloria’?”

“Unfortunately no Sir Knight. My Lord, a noble originating from a hiveworld, bought the rights to New Gloria 43 years ago. He thought the investment would pay off quickly, but it seems New Gloria is stuck at having just enough problems to prevent its growth while not having enough to warrant any prestige for Knights in battle. While I am sure the PDF will speak of your actions here for years to come, billions of Orks are slaughtered everyday across the Imperium, no offense Sir.”

Ouch, you think you just rustled a tooth a little out. This ale is way too sweet. Nonetheless, you’ve never heard of nobility outside of the Core-Worlds and some backwater planets that put the frontier to shame. A billion is a lot, but then again, billions of cows die every year on the frontier.
>>
[2/2]
“Who are you and the PDF?”

“I am Castellan of House Fiorenzi, loyal retainer and servant of Governor Lionus. I am of nobility birth, although my house has long since fallen into destitution, thus my role as military advisor and commander for Governor Lionus. The PDF naturally serve him under my dutiful command. Their full name is the 43rd New Gloria Planetary Defense Force, but there’s obviously only one PDF on New Gloria anyhow.”

The man seems much more at ease now that you’ve got a dialogue. It seems as if a huge weight off of his shoulders has been lifted. What was he worrying about?

“Sir Knight, it may be presumptuous of me to ask, but do you intend to stay on New Gloria for an extended period of time? My lord is always looking for additional forces to purge the Orks from New Gloria. I assure you he pays well Sir. Additionally, I do not think I caught your name Sir Knight? Unless you enjoy the title that much, ha!”

Give him your name?

Based. Although I note that Legion can already crouch, just cannot go prone for obvious reasons.

The main reason why Titans aren't mega-kitted out is that half the time they need to be rebuilt after battle and the fact that there is a huge resource shortage during the TitanWar. With 40k logistics and market freedom, you might be able to bring Legion out to her full potential.

Signing a contract that says "You have us on retainer indefinitely" is a no no. Because then we can't just buy a ship and leave.

And buying a ship is already stupidly expensive. Most of the imperiums ships are not bought, they are inherited or repurposed or wrecks that have been refitted. Not to mention the cost of crew and of living, the only way to really get off planet is by mutiny or booking passage.
>>

>Most of the imperiums ships are not bought, they are inherited or repurposed or wrecks that have been refitted.
All we need is a repurposed or wrecked ship to work as the skeleton, and from there we can begin construction. Besides, it's a grand goal to shoot for. Mutiny would have questionable success, and booking a passage means we aren't producing our own stuff.

We have a frabricator, and Jojo is smart. We could juggle the idea to the QM and see if Jojo is capable. Perhaps we can make drones to aid in construction?

“Ah, I must have forgotten to tell you. My name is John Jorgenson, although the ladies call me Jojo.”

He pauses, with a nearly invisible twitch of cringe. Nevertheless, you stand by your words. Pilots don’t care what anyone besides their Titan thinks.

“Ah, good to know Sir Jorgenson.”

You stare at him as you shovel the alien coleslaw up. It’s pretty good, having that sour taste, but crunchy texture we all appreciate. While you’re feasting, he takes your silence as displeasure.

“Ah, where are my manners. We offer you 20,000 thrones as upfront payment and 3,500 thrones per month of contract.”

You chew a bit of fat stuck on your molars. It’s really stuck in there, wow. A small drop of sweat drips down his forehead.

“A-and, the terms would be that you are to assist the PDF when called upon, no more than four times a week without a bonus pay of 2,500 thrones.”

Thrones huh, that must be their currency in this backwater. Ouch, you think you scratched your tongue on your teeth.

“M-moreover, you will be at-will employment, with a month’s notice needed for termination. Is this satisfactory Sir Jojo?

“Let me think about this. Also, do you have any Pop?”

“We do not have Pop, although I hear that the merchant’s quarter may contain what you desire.”

“Shame.”

He audibly gulps. Damn, he really wants you to be hired. Is it really that bad? Or are you that good?

Militia and IMC tech use JumpDrives to get around. Think of it as a much more advanced version of the way the Tau get around. Still slower than 40k warp, but way safer.
>>
>>4325638
I don't think we can rebild the imperial ship from scratch here.
>>
>>4325638
The smallest warp capable craft in the imperium is about 2 km long, give or take. That's fucking insane for one man to try and fit up. Drones and such would be a help, but then we come to the next problem which funnily enough isn't the resources required by a world like this.

The Adeptus mechanicus, Who guard data like a yandere. And if we start making ftl engines, I don't care who we are or how strong we are, we are getting taken down by some of the best equipped assassins in the imperium and dragged to mars to be either tortured, interrogated, servitorised, lauded as a hero and prophet and executed.

Asking for information on how to build imperium tech outside of the lowest crap like "guns" is going to be laughed out of the room and/or have us put under watch by those self same techpriests.

>>4325605
A lot of them have merit. But remember that the main advantage of Militia tech is that it's already well tested. There are already drones, so you could build those. I believe there are two variants, one shoots plasma while the other fires a charge rifle.
Solar power is a bit useless since, despite its advanced nature, you would need a whole field to power a Titan. Sticking to Fusion reactors and Fusion batteries is best.
Different munitions is A-Ok, just can't make them on the fly.
Upgrading CPU is A-OK.
Cameras are good. I might just handwave give you those cameras since what else are those cameras on the hull doing.
Chemical weapons is distasteful, but a yes.
Shoulder mounted weapons are king, wrist weapons get in the way a lot.

Also, I forgot to mention. You will now enter battles with Smart-Core at 50% to represent you not being in combat and having time to charge it.
>>
>>4325642
>Yeah, sounds good man. Where do I sign? I got a cool signature, lemme show it to you.

also we will get like 25k trones after that? how much to hire a tech priest(who won't snitch on us)? or a navigator? How much to buy a ride out of this place? Time for our QM to engage in a horrifying process of game balancing

Tech priests who don't snitch on us are rare or "progressives". Tech priests who find out about the AI and don't snitch on us are Hereteks.

Actually renting a navigator however involves getting to a meeting with a member of the family [if it is a magistrate house, which is waaaaaay out of our money], talk to the roving fleets [hard to track down], try and get a chat with the wandering or destitue houses [probably our best bet, but again not very likely to be in this shit house] or talk to the actual outcast houses who practice experimentation so bad even other navigators think they need purging.

And 25k upfront, 3.5k for a months work so a sum of 28.5k thrones for at most 16 combat missions and every call out after that giving us another 2.5.

>>4325678
This plan is still retarded anon, just plainly unworkable for no real gain. At best we want to book a ride out of here and then try to buy a ship from a traders outpost. Which is unlikely to work out nicely for us anyway, what with it relying on a lot of chance to work well.

It is cheaper and easier to have a patron with a ship where we can bunk down and work in peace.
>>
>>4325684
we really need to acquire as much lore as possible desu. Fuck the cosplaying, time to start asking the dangerous amount of questions
>>
>>4325684
The orks would never follow a hummie.......But if they don't realise we are a human, then that could work. We just need to purge them all in fire.

Anyway the orks never leave a planet they have landed on, the spores see to that. All you can do is batter them into submission

>>
>>4325690
Ah! Right there! We find a Heretek. Yeah man. That's the ticket to success.

>Actually renting a navigator
QM made a point about the Warp. Warp travel sucks man. FTL for life. It's significantly safer and we're less liable to get lost if the navigator's head explodes.

I don't know man. I like round numbers.

It's so retarded, that the plan might work.

>>4325692
Submission it is!
>>
>>4325700
Low key heretek, sure. Why not.
And we are not making one of our FTL engines for the imperiums ships, no. And I can say that with utter certainty because the quest won't last long enough for us to do it unless the QM violently jumpcuts about 10 years into the future because, once again, YOU WANT TO REBUILD A SPACE SHIP CATHEDRAL THAT IS 2 KM LONG OVER A FEUDAL WORLD WITH ILLEGAL PARTS AND ILLEGAL LABOUR BY YOURSELF, WHILE ALSO WORKING A JOB KILLING GREENSKINS FOR MOST OF THE WEEK!

This isn't even touching pressurization and shit.
.....Oh, but you have given me an idea on how we can get this shit to work.

And stop worrying, it's only a danger if shit goes wrong. Navigators from houses are usually that great at their jobs that unless you step off the beaten path into a warp storm then there is almost never a mishap.

But what we can do, is buy a shuttle. Still expensive but they cost less than an actual city. If we get a big one then we can outfit it to transport AT, as well as the workshop.

Without FTL or warpdrive, we could hitch rides with other, larger ships to crossroad stations, then start putting our services on offer along with the requirements for space and such. Effectively use our shuttle as a home/workshop that we take with us, while our client details with actual ftl-transport.

Not sure why everyone wants a Techpriest. You're more than intelligent and well-studied to repair AT and do tech shenanigans. Also, from my knowledge, Knights, especially freeblades, can tell Techpriests to screw off.

Although, techpriest GF is a forbidden love...

>But what we can do, is buy a shuttle
here. finally a good idea. Space is filled with stations, ships, and other shit we don't need warpdrive to get to. Also with shuttle we can preform original titanfall, for style points

Having a minor heretek would actually be a boon in dealing with the proper authorities. We can tell techpriests to leave our titan alone but if they suspect it is archeotech [it is] or they are of sufficient rank [usually a magos] then they can ignore us and straight take the titan by force of arms. Archeotech especially the priesthood will do everything in their power to take it from us, because we have a mini STC device on the back making our ammo.

With a heretek priest, they can use their trusted word to waive away the lesser officials, as well as inform us on the proper conducts and such. There is also a second reason in that we do need to protect AT from chaos, which sacred unguents and other rites will serve very well.

If the fabricator can produce food, then we don't even need a really big ship.
>>

>can tell Techpriests to screw off.
They have their local tech-caste that enjoys some independence from the Techpriest, not really a fuck off but more of a "this the line our ancient treat with Terra stablish you have to stay there unless we ask you for help."

Baby steps people, lets us grow our funds earn some trust and knowledge, build up AT before we make plans to leave the planet.

Having a set goal in mind is a good thing. It lets us orient ourselves and gives us a way to channel player agency.

Having plans is a good thing. Having stupid plans is bad if you don't nip it in the bud

>Yeah, sounds good man. Where do I sign? I got a cool signature, lemme show it to you.

Washing down the last corner of coleslaw on your plate, alongside a sliver of boar juices, with a good chug of honeybeet ale, you sigh in relief. Suddenly remembering the mumbling man in front of you…

“Yeah, sounds good man. Where do I sign? I got a cool signature. Let me tell you.”

Again, his eyes staring a half second too long, he speaks.

“Yes, yes, excellent Sir Jorgenson. Quillbearer, bring out the parchment, the one for important deals!”

At his call, a nerdy-looking servant shuffles around in the back of the tent, before returning to the table. He hands off a long tube to Castellan. Castellan then pops the top off the tube, revealing a snow-white parchment, soon unrolled onto the table.

“Huh, so that’s how they look like…”

He does not respond to your comment, although he writes out the terms with extra force, perhaps channeling his frustrations at your cluelessness. After a good two minutes of intense writing, reinking, and hand stretches, he finishes the document.

It reads:
Sir Jorgenson enters an at-will contract with House Fiorenzi at the behest of general Castellan.
Termination of this contract must be done with one month warning from either side.
Sir Jorgenson is to be paid:
- A one-time signing bonus of 20,000 thrones.
- 3,500 thrones per month.
- A bonus pay of 2,500 thrones per overtime call-to-arms.
- Suitable lodging at Fortress Alexandra.
Sir Jorgenson’s duties are as follows:
- Can be called to action four times a week. Any calls after the fourth will trigger the overtime pay. Nominally, Sir Jorgenson will have four scheduled days of duty, any sudden call-to-arms out of these four days triggering the overtime pay. The schedule is subject to change depending on New Gloria’s circumstances, but will stay within these parameters.
What constitutes a call-to-arms:
-Being stationed at a location.
-Requested presence for protection or combat.
-And anything else that requires Sir Jorgenson in any fighting capacity.
Payment:
-Unless requested otherwise, all payment will be kept at Fortress Alexandra for withdrawal. Payment can also be made in other goods if requested.

“It looks pretty good. I think we’ll be good friends Castellan!”

You sign your name. A cartoonishly large JOJO covers approximately a third of the document.

“Oh dear Emperor…”

Castellan signs his name, about one tenth of the size of your signature, onto the signing line. It seems like his very soul is exhausted after this ordeal…

Congratulations, you’ve made your first big bucks on New Gloria as your debut was a stunning success. This also means that your employers expect you to fight really well considering the high price they’re paying (and their desperation to get a Knight).

The next thread (to be made tomorrow) will showcase us marching to Fort Alexandra to immerse ourselves in the world and get a sitrep of the situation. Also, AT might tell you her hypothesis on where the Fold sent you two.

Thanks for playing Pilots.

I wanted to make Castellan the guy’s title, but I misspoke. In the end, I think it’s more badass to have your name literally mean ‘Leader of the Castle’.

I wanted to give him a name, but I accidentally made the title 'castellan' his name.
So instead, he is general Castellan. The noble ruler is a bit more modern with his terminology due to his hiveworld roots.

If we can acquire Imperium Hotshot lasers we can also in theory upgrade our own laser technology. 40k armor also sucks balls so we're fucked unless we get some xeno tech to study(although the materials they use could potentially be invaluable for upgrading our stuff). So if we recruit troops we can easily equip them with far superior lasers and armor. They'll still be shit against our titan but they won't die nearly as fast as typical 40k soldiers. We can even upgrade our own power supply thanks to the Admech plasma reactors which produce absurds amount of power but are very unsafe...the hard part is making sure it won't blow us up. If we can find bolters we can upgrade our minigun.

Come to think of it Imperium also has short range plasma guns that are unsafe to use if not high quality. If we use that technology we can create a short ranged plasma cannon/shotgun. Gatling lasers is also an option once we study Admech standard and hotshot lasers. Imperium also has access to very powerful but tightly controlled explosive substances. Their promethium would also enable us to create a very powerful flamethrower after we upgrade our schematics to handle the heat(heh).

Should we get our own ship we can easily replace their macro batteries with gauss versions. Another thing that is invaluable is how INSANELY efficient Imperium laser battery/ammo packs are. Those things literally recharge in the sun or in a fire but still pack an insane punch/amount of energy.

short range is a misnomer. they are within the expected range of their weapon classes, just that compared to lasers, they are obviously going to be short ranged.
The bigger you get in size the better they get however, and the old crusade era ship borne plasma batteries are longer ranged than pretty much anything else save for torpedoes and a few special types of lances.
