You open your eyes groggily to be met by the sight of a somewhat unfamiliar ceiling. Your body feels... odd, pushing the blankets off of yourself seems to take far more effort than you're used to, and, wasn't your quilt black and not white? Just what is going on here? Did you get hospitalized in your sleep or something? You aren't really sure how that could have happened, considering you live by yourself, but if it is the case, you're thankful for whoever got you here. You feel very... strange. Your body feels weak and the room feels strangely too big, even the bed is twice the size you would expect.

You push the quilt away from you and get up out of the bed to look around the room. Looking down at your body, you notice you're wearing a set of white pajamas, you really can't place what exactly it is that's wrong though, this whole situation just feels far too unreal. Waking up feeling weak in an unfamiliar place that is probably some sort of private hospital? Sounds like the set-up to a movie or something.

You try to think what could've landed you in this room, likely some sort of private hospital room based on the complete lack of any sort of decoration. It's just a functional room with a wardrobe and a bed. You certainly don't remember having the sort of money that would allow you to afford something like this, and then to your complete horror you realize that you can't actually even remember your name.

You simply stand in the center of the room in stunned silence, trying to recall what your name is but failing completely. You can't even remember what letter it started with. You try to remember something else important you, like the name and faces of your parents.

Again you find yourself unable to recall the names and faces of the people most dear to you, you recall having a brother and a sister too, but you can't remember their names or faces. You can't even remember what your own face looks like. The worst part is that everything else seems unaffected, you can remember your life up to this point with stunning clarity, it's only the faces and appearances of all within the memories that seem to have been wiped clean. Black silhouettes taking the place of the people you know are dear to you.

You clutch your forehead in distress. What... what happened to you? What's wrong with your body? What's wrong with your mind? None of this makes any sense! You can't remember how old you are, you can't remember your own face! You can't even remember your own name!

You fall to your knees and look at your shaking hands, far far smaller than the hands you feel like you ought to have. Your mind seems to be in complete conflict with your body. You need to find out what's going on as soon as possible. Find a doctor maybe, find anyone that might be able to explain just what's going on with you. Is this even real? Are you trapped in a dream that has fooled you into believing it is true, maybe some sort of coma you can't awake from?
>>
The thought that you might be in a coma causes you to start shaking even more, but you can't just kneel on the floor forever. You need to find out what's really going on, you can't allow yourself to speculate any further lest you just end up making things even worse.

You rise to your feet again and begin to properly look around the room, though you freeze only a few seconds after you do. Right there, in the mirror, is your reflection. A young boy with curly blue hair and gray-blue eyes stares back at you through the mirror, and you somehow immediately recognize him, despite him being a little younger than you would expect. No, not as yourself, but as a fictional character of a series you are really quite familiar with. Shinji Matou.

You fall backwards as you stare at the mirror, the reflection copying your every move. It's at this moment you clutch your head again, not in confusion or distress, but in sheer pain. Two sets of memories colliding and fusing together as two souls merge into one. The soul of a young boy from a tragic family of magi, and the extra-dimensional soul of an intruder into his universe become one. Just as you gain the boy's memories, he gains your own. A determination to become a magus despite a lack of any sort of power, the revelation of the accident leading to his mother's death and the quiet days of the seven year old boy's life fusing together with your own apparently incomplete memories. The memories that this world he occupies is one of fiction, the future having already been written and his being a grim future indeed. The two souls fuse into one gestalt entity eventually, a soul greater than the sum of it's parts.

The revelations the two souls undergo causes both of them to scream in panicked confusion, shortly before passing out entirely on the wooden floor of the room. The room Shinji, or rather, 'you' had been sleeping in while studying abroad at an old property 'your' family owned in the countryside of England. While Shinji is quite unaware of the truth of why he was sent away, you know the truth why he isn't in Fuyuki. You seem to be somewhat capable of thought even despite having passed out, how very strange.

The Fourth Grail War, the ridiculous competition between seven magi and seven heroes where they all kill each other to see who can claim the magic wish granting cup as their prize. Of course, the story is all a complete lie. Doubly so with the presence of Angra Mainyu in the grail. The true purpose of the grail is to open up a path to the Root, and with the Zoroastrian god of evil hiding within it, it can't even do that without bringing about untold disaster to the human race.
>>
Eventually, your eyes open again, and you see a woman with brown hair and a t-shirt and jeans looking down at you while you lay on a sofa in the house's living room. Monica, going by Shinji's memories, a woman hired by the Matou to keep watch over you for the duration of the Fourth War. Some kind of spellcaster maybe? Or just a completely mundane babysitter? You can't really tell. Though with the way the woman is looking at you coldly as you lie on the sofa, you can't help but feel like she's far less compassionate than her appearance would lead you to believe. She only looks to be about 22 years old, yet those eyes just give you a bad feeling about her.

I know the logic that Shinji should possibly be somewhat fluent in Russian thanks to the Matou's origins as the Makiri, but are you sure that your babysitter is going to be fluent?

i kinda wanna figure out if we inherited all of Shinji's intelligence now, he's supposed to be a polymath that can do anything he sets his mind to besides magic, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for him to know a few languages at an age where picking up languages is easy

Hey Whatis, you suggested the Isekai dude we're playing knows about Fate. Just what is the extent of his Fate Knowledge? Is he a casual gacha whale or a full on fate neckbear?
>>
>>4319257
He's read the VN (and Hollow Ataraxia) and is familiar with a large portion of the rest of the Nasuverse.
He'll be able to recognise most any servant that has had a presence in another Fate series, but he won't be able to perfectly remember entire scenes word for word or the abilities of more obscure servants. So it's somewhere in-between, I suppose.
I might put a Bo3 D100 system in place with dice to determine how well you can remember certain more in depth pieces of information.
As an example, the password in German to deactivate the defenses on the Tohsaka manor would require a roll of 100.
How does that sound?
>>
>>4319272
i am fine with this but slightly disappointed that (You) aren't a massive fate neckbeard
>>
>>4319272
>He's read the VN (and Hollow Ataraxia)
Oh good. So who's up for stealing the Kaleidostick from Rin and then giving it to Illya for adorable shenanigans?
>>
>>4319272
As long as he understands that Illya is best girl and FGO is canon-defying nonsense, I'm happy.
>>
>>4319282
she's kind of a psycho until Shirou gets ahold of her, unless maybe we decide to start doing stuff early and get Rin and Shirou to raid the Einzbern Castle
>>
>>4319285
>FGO is canon-defying nonsense
I mean, worrying about canon relating to Fate in the first place is an effort in futility. It's best to take a stance of "Who gives a fuck" and veer toward something actually fun like Carnival Phantasm.
>>
>>4319285
Do we want to go for the Illya route then?
I'd be all for it.
>>
>>4319290
I'm a VN purist, and will maintain that it was more fun than anything Fate-related since, including Carnival Phantasm. I get that that's a personal opinion, though, and everyone has their own preference.
>>4319291
Absolutely. Especially while she's at her most psycho.
>>
>>4319289
As long as we tell Rin that's she's worst waifu.

>>4319301
I mean, VN is okay, but I feel Fate is at it's best when it stops taking itself seriously and has fun. Otherwise it's alot of really pretentious drama.
>>
>>4319306
I like pretentious drama, and feel Fate is at its worst when it stops taking itself seriously and has "fun".
Well, almost at its worst. Fate/Zero and FGO both have their serious moments, and they're a whole lot worse than Carnival Phantasm.
>>
>>4319315
See, I almost get you, but then I remember that all that pretentious drama is literally just a vehicle for sex scenes with worst girl and genderbent king arthur that the series keeps pretending doesn't exist, and I can't take the VN seriously at all.
And then shit like the Fourth Holy Grail War Race happens and it's better then any route in the VN, it's primary drawback being you need to have knowledge of the VN in the first place to understand why it's so good.
>>
>>4319322
>Fourth Holy Grail War Race
Fifth Holy Grail War Race. I have no idea why I was thinking Fourth.
>>
>>4319322
To me it seems as though you like comedy and dislike what was core to early Nasu works.
>>
>>4319315
>>4319322
we do have a lot of downtime, 10 years isn't gonna be just prep right? We are probably gonna hangout with Shirou and everyone else before letting them in on The Plan (tm)
>>
>>4319322
Like 3 short scenes in a 60 hour game. Yeah, totally a vehicle.
Some of the stuff in Carnival Phantasm was pretty funny, yeah, but there's no comparing a bit of comedy to the emotional impact of the original story.
Seriously though, it's pretty clear we want and enjoy totally different things from the franchise. I've been having basically this same argument with fans of Extra, or Phantasm, or FGO for years, and I've come to the conclusion that there's no point in arguing over it when our ideas of "good" are this different. Let's agree to disagree.
For the record, I liked the slice of life and comedy elements of the VN too. The need to have everything serious almost all the time is a big part of why Zero is so bad. I just thought later installments went way overboard with that idea of "not taking anything seriously".

>>4319332
Definitely. I very much hope this quest isn't just devoted to acting out the plan people were tossing around in the /a/ threads, because that would be pretty disappointing.
>>
>>4319335
i am in invested in being best bros with Shirou before the inevitable waifu wars, i don't want him to die alone in Syria
>>
>>4319328
That's one thing that's happened to the franchise and fanbase over the years. Fate has had so many spinoffs and so many writers involved with it that there's a pretty big section of the fans who think of themselves as liking Fate without really liking Nasu at all. I don't know if pink anon is one of them, but there are plenty of them around.

>>4319338
I'm for making the Wakame Paradise route a reality too, anon. It's gotta happen.
>>
>>4319328
>dislike what was core to early Nasu works.
I like Notes. It's my favorite Nasu work, I consider it literally Peak Nasu.

>>4319335
>Like 3 short scenes in a 60 hour game. Yeah, totally a vehicle.
Everything is a vehicle for the waifus and the porn, why do you think FGO does so well.

>The need to have everything serious almost all the time is a big part of why Zero is so bad.
At least we can agree on that. Fucking Urobutcher.

>acting out the plan people were tossing around in the /a/ threads
What was the /a/ plan and will it interfere with stealing the kaleidostick and magical girl shenanigans?
>>
>>4319349
basically, get All Fiction, get Medea, bathe in Dragons Blood, get every servant on your side to gank Gil, profit
>>
>>4319350
Not going to lie, that's a dumb plan.If we're going with dumb plans, I'd like to suggest:
>Get Black Barrel, shoot Gil.
>>
wait so is this purely FSN or is Tsukihime also happening in this timeline?
>>
>>4319350
I thought developing the All-Fiction Reality Marble and bathing in dragons blood with Rin were different plans.
Like, the dragons blood route was developed while people were developing alternatives to the All-Fiction route.
I definitely want to get All-Fiction though, it's too good an opportunity to pass-up.
>>
Let's just take things as they come, see what What does with the premise, and try to use our metaknowledge without making an obnoxiously grandiose and intricate plan. Can we do that?

>>4319360
According to a Nasu interview that's fundamentally impossible, but of course the QM's word is law.
>>
>>4319361
technically, we can do both, Dragon's Blood just requires us to get Medea to summon her dragon and get Archer to kill it with Anti-Dragon NPs
>>
>>4319363
We should at least put:
>Save Illya
>Turn into Magical Girl
>Shenanigans
Into our bucket list.
>>
>>4319369

>>

>>
>>4319369

>Save Illya
at least. Followed by
>Romance Illya
>>
>>4319371
>>4319375
Well I mean, if we're saving Illya anyways, we might as well get the Prisma Illya route going.
>>
>>4319371
i am completely supportive of 1 as well
>>4319372
pretty simple, reality marbles require you to have an alien mindset, well uh, being isekai'd into a fictional world kinda embeds you with an alien mindset by default since FSN is fictional, and if everything is fiction, it doesn't exist, if it doesn't exist, it can be erased
>>
>>4319377
I have a few problems with that. Illya in Prisma Illya is a totally different character from Illya in Fate/Stay Night (best girl in the franchise), so a step toward that timeline would lead to unpleasantness for me at least. I also resent Prillya as the subpar replacement for the Illya route we never got.
Ruby could be a pretty fun companion, though.
>>
>>4319381
>so a step toward that timeline would lead to unpleasantness for me at least.
Yes, but it'd be pleasant for me.

>Illya in Prisma Illya is a totally different character from Illya in Fate/Stay Night (best girl in the franchise)
A better Illya. A more fun Illya.
>>
>>4319388
Man, we really are completely at odds. Prillya is basically just a stock loli archetype. F/SN Illya is an actual character. There's no contest. The F/SN version is more fun.
>>
>>4319381
>>4319388
We can't even create that timeline anyway because it diverged before the 4th HGW right?
>>
>>4319398
We totally can't. The kaleidostick does exist in Hollow Ataraxia though, so presumably does in this timeline, so anon is suggesting trying to nudge this world toward that one by making Illya a magical girl.
>>
>>4319379
But wouldn't entering the world make it more "real" for the MC?
>>
>>4319397
>F/SN Illya is an actual character.
She's not really an actual character. She's just a mess of neurosis with an incest fetish tacked on. That's not more fun, that's just a plot device.
Prisma Illya has actual friends and character growth.

>>4319398
The kaleidostick exists in hollow ataraxia, Rin keeps it locked in a box. So we steal it, steal Illya and do something more fun then "Oh no, evil mud and worms." with our metaknowledge.
>>
>>4319379
>>4319413
I'm pretty sure to create a reality marble, we have to be super autistic. Like autistic to the point we entirely reject this world as fictional at all times, in all interactions and proceed that way.
It's not really worth it, IMO.
>>
>>4319306
Nah the visual novel is amazing and made me cry
>>
>>4319416
No, you just need a mindset alien to the world.
Being from a completely different universe in which this one was fiction is pretty alien.
>>
>>4319423
Pretty sure you need to reject this reality and replace it with your own.
>>
>>4319415
Prillya has friends who carry the show for her and character growth that follows the most predictable, bog-standard mahou shoujo arc around. The series is a yuribait parody that the author decided midway through that he wanted to make a serious story out of, and it's never recovered. I'll reiterate, F/SN Illya is the only one of the two who is a real character, and is miles more fun than Prillya.
That aside, I'm really surprised you're participating in this quest, considering how much your dislike of Fate/Stay Night shows through in your posts.
>>
>>4319423
I can understand MC having the potential for a reality marble, but I don't think being isekai'd would create the "everything is fiction" mindset needed for something like All Fiction without some severe autism.
>>
>>4319443
>F/SN Illya is the only one of the two who is a real character
Illya is less of a character then Avalon. Fuck, even the evil mud and worms gets more development.
Prisma Illya is way more fun.

>REEEE GET OUT
Just curious, are you the autistic fuck who runs the other Fate quest? The one where the MC is a clone or some shit and gets cucked by the waifu people actually liked while he tries to push some shit tier side bait.

>>
>>4319455
I didn't tell you to get out, I just don't understand your motivation. I don't like Warhammer 40K, and I don't go into quests in the setting airing my complaints about it and trying to make it more like things I do enjoy.
>>
>>4319462
It's a Fate quest, I didn't expect it to go any other way then this. Get used to it, it won't change.
>>
>>4319469
I'm not the only trying to make it solely about F/SN here though. You've been constantly pushing "REE F/SN is the best." "REE Everything else is shit."
No matter how much you dislike them, FGO, Fate/Zero, Prisma Illya, Carnival Phantasm and all that other stuff is still Fate. Coming in here and going "Hey, I liked this Fate stuff, I want to play here." and throwing out ideas in that direction is perfectly reasonable. You're the only one who seems to have a problem with it.
Fuck, even your example is flawed. Going into a general 40k quest and trying to nudge is more towards Rogue Trader, or Dark Heresy or what have you is perfectly acceptable.

On top of that, I don't remember WhatIs saying this was ONLY a FS/N quest at any point. YOU are the one who made that assumption, just like you are the one who gets defensive whenever someone brings up an idea in a direction you don't like. As if the fact that YOUR personal dislike of something is enough reason to scrap an idea.
>>
>>4319488
I don't know why you're characterizing me as being so angry, either.
It is a democratic voting system, I'm putting my opinions on the various suggestions out there like anybody else.
As for my 'assumptions' about the timeline, the canon of the setting is that Fate/Zero and F/SN take place in a separate universe from Prisma Illya and Carnival Phantasm. FGO is iffy. So it's not really an assumption to look at what's already been confirmed to take place in that timeline as having nothing to do with the others. You've been pushing your view of things at least as much as I have, and been just as dismissive of parts of the franchise as I have. With that in mind, I'll reiterate. Let's agree we want totally different things from the franchise and the quest, call it square, and not argue anymore, alright? You don't want the quest to be like F/SN, I don't want it to be like Carnival Phantasm. You don't think F/SN Illya is a character, I don't think Prillya is a character. Great. We're even and we've both made our perspectives more than clear.
>>

>>4319462
This is the Fate you chose.
>>
>>4319502
>the canon of the setting is that Fate/Zero and F/SN take place in a separate universe from Prisma Illya and Carnival Phantasm.
Canon is well and good, but we are in a 4chan quest. Until it is straight up confirmed we are abiding by canon, assume we're not. On top of that, we are in an Isekai Quest, with metaknowledge. Which means we can change canon, making it even more irrelevant.

>You've been pushing your view of things at least as much as I have, and been just as dismissive of parts of the franchise as I have.
No, see I've been throwing out ideas. You've been reeing about how everything that isn't FS/N sucks. I have yet to see one post from you that wasn't autistic rambling about how you hate anything that isn't FS/N.

It may be the norm, but it still leaves you whole lot ruder than I am, and since you started this ridiculous oneupsmanship by complaining that my opinions about what we should do are somehow less worthy of being posted than yours for the sole reason that they're negative, I'll stand by it.
One more time, there's no reason for us to still be arguing. Drop it.

If you're going to find out more about just what's going on, you suppose that this babysitter who's been hired to look after you is your best bet. "M-Monica-san?" You call the woman's name in Japanese while she looks at you the woman says nothing, and simply stares at you with more intensity. Who on earth decided to employ this woman to watch over a child? She's clearly horrible with children! Well, logical deduction could really only pin the blame on Zouken for hiring a woman like this to look after a child. Honestly, if it were possible, you're pretty sure that the heartless old bastard would've tried to hire Kiritsugu to look after you. "Can... can you tell me what happened? Did I hurt myself?" You reach a hand up to the back of your head to touch it, feeling a nasty bruise on the back of your head. For a second you feel like asking her what actually happened to cause you to wake up in Shinji's body, but that's just going to end up with an immediate sealing designation courtesy of the Mage's Association for you if anybody finds out.

The woman looks at you with an awkward expression, then seems to think on what to tell you, apparently having to think about her sentences before responding. "You passed out. Nearly managed to smash your head open. You are lucky I was here to help, otherwise you might have... really ended up hurt." The woman's Japanese is clunky, but otherwise functional. She tries to give you a reassuring smile as she finishes speaking, but fails pretty spectacularly, instead her smile is just kind of nerve-wracking. This woman is clearly not used to looking after children, and would almost certainly be more comfortable hunting down some dead apostle or rogue magus than she would be looking after some snot nosed brat belonging to a rich family of magi for a week.

Still, despite the woman's rather rough mannerisms, she's not really somebody you could call unattractive, not by a long shot, though such thoughts are quelled very rapidly. One set of 'your' memories might have been through about three decades of life, but 'your' other set of memories and the body they occupy are just 8 years old. With that in mind, you really aren't in any position to start thinking about women in such ways. "Oh... well, thank you for helping me, Monica-san!" You simply end up deciding to thank the woman for helping you out. For all you know, she had to use magecraft to heal you and you smashed open your head completely on the floor. It's not like she would tell a child.

The woman frowns as she looks at the child offering her his heartfelt gratitude "It's... nothing. I don't get paid if you end up hurt." The woman responds to your thanks coldly, almost rejecting it entirely. "Just try not to hurt yourself again." She then finishes off her response with a rather cold command. You would hope that there's some sort of genuine concern behind the command, but it's either non-existent or the woman is way too good at masking her emotions.
>>
"O-oh..." You can't help but sound a little upset at the woman's cold response. Seems that the body of a child and the original Shinji's mind is having more effect on 'your' own mind than you would honestly like it to have. Though you suppose it does you the favor of allowing you to act more convincingly like a child. You really can't imagine how Monica might respond if you simply talked like a fully developed adult and somebody with more life experience than she herself does. Well, it would probably end painfully for you, actually. Last thing you want is to be suspected of being some sort of malevolent entity possessing a child. Things are probably going to be hard enough for you without being mistaken for some sort of Roa-esque being. "W-well, where are we right now anyway, Monica-san? I don't think you ever told me."

"You never asked me to tell you that. In fact, this is what, the third time you've actually spoken to me in the month I've been here watching you?" The woman stretches and yawns. "Really, I've never known an eight year old to be so dedicated to reading. Shouldn't kids like you want to watch TV or something?" Her Japanese is still a little clunky, but she's obviously getting a little more comfortable with using it.

"I... I don't think that the television is very interesting." It's true for both sets of memories residing within you. Shinji far prefers reading, and your memories of the cheap shlock produced in massive quantities a few decades from now have really sullied the idea of television forever.

Monica however seems a little confused by your response, though you are also just as confused by her own reaction. "Huh. You're really kind of a strange kid, arent'cha?" What sort of magecraft user is actually competent with technology? Worse, what kind would actually enjoy television to the extent of being confused at seeing somebody who doesn't? "Well, if you want to know exactly where we are, we're at a house your family owns in Roehampton, a... district of London." Wait, your in London? Then doesn't that mean that the Clocktower is only a stones throw away from where you're currently staying? "You'll probably be heading back to Japan in a week or two anyway. I got the call from your father while you were out cold." She looks kind of uncomfortable as she mentions your injury.

You can't help but wonder what might become of this woman in the future, if she truly is a spellcaster, then the odds are that she'll just end up getting herself killed on some mission in the next few years, and despite the front she seems to be putting on, you feel like there might just be a decent person underneath that act. Maybe the act of being near somebody who is just a child has made whatever face she would normally put up near others slip a little.

You don't need autism or anything in order to develop a Reality Marble.
All you need is a mindset that runs counter to the rest of the common sense of the world, and knowledge of bounded fields.
Mages who become vampires only take around 120 years to develop their own, because even with their understanding of the universe going counter to what most of humanity believes to be true, most still behave within the bounds of what could be considered human, and their mindset reflects this.
Coming from a completely different universe altogether and knowing that it's all a novel you read is a common sense that nobody else would have developed, except other universal travelers.
The real challenge for Shinji will be gathering the energy to maintain the bounded field that would contain the Reality Marble outside of his body, the passive effects it has on him should be interesting though.

>betting on major sports and political events
While these things will likely turn out the same way as they did in reality, you'll need to roll to recall the less obvious things. Like the winners of World Cups or 9/11 would be automatically recalled, but other events will require a roll.
For (you), these things occured twenty five years ago.
Same story goes for trying to patent future inventions.
Inventing the Smartphone is going to hard, but stealing concepts like Facebook would be easy.
(You) did have some mechanical and electrical knowledge, though.

You look at the muted television on the far side of the room for a while, then you look at Monica. You suppose that it can't hurt to spend some time with this woman. Who knows, she might just be useful to you in the future depending on how competent she is as a spellcaster. God knows you have a long and difficult road ahead of you back in Fuyuki. Not counting Grandfather, Sakura, Illya and Gilgamesh are the three that concern you the most. Illya and Sakura both being responsible for killing Shinji in different routes, and Gilgamesh responsible for turning you into the grail. Of course, you'll hopefully have an easier time with stopping Sakura from having a meltdown, but Illya is going to be far harder to get through to. "Monica-san, can we watch some television together?" You don't really mind what she chooses to watch, but you may as well put the disarming appearance of your body to good use by seeing whether you can befriend this woman in the few days you have remaining with her, a good chance for a practice run, you suppose.

"Huh? You actually want to watch TV now? Sure... I guess." Monica shrugs before she starts fiddling about with the remote and switching the channels around on the large CRT television. It's clear she couldn't possibly be a true magus, not after showing the ability to use a television remote without trouble. Thinking back to the problems you're going to face, you start thinking about the Einzbern's lesser grail for the Fifth War, not only is Illya protected at all times by that unstoppable force of destruction she calls Berserker, but she's also unlikely to open up to anybody except Shirou himself. You don't quite know how exactly you're going to even get close to the girl to speak to her before being flattened by Berserker. The only positive to dealing with her is that she'll likely consider you as something more like a worm to be crushed underfoot. Not exactly a nice thing to compare yourself to, but even that is better than being an actual target for the deceptively violent girl. Of course, you aren't sure if you'll even receive that offer for a do-over whenever you get yourself killed, and there's no way to actually find out if you do have such a privilege, even if you did end up going to the Dojo after death, you wouldn't be able to remember it anyway. How bothersome.
>>
The TV channels are flicked through rapidly until it seems Monica settle on watching an episode of Friends. How humorous. Though even stranger is the realization that Friends would technically be an almost brand new show at this point. Actually being in the past, even if it is the past of a fictional facsimile of the world you know, is a truly strange feeling. No more a strange feeling than being in a fictional world though, when you think about it. What could have happened to have caused this to have happened in the first place? Assuming this isn't just some incredibly lifelike dream or a coma, then what could it have been? Zelretch playing around with the Second True Magic? The work of a powerful wizard like Merlin? The work of a TYPE? Perhaps even the work of one of the mysterious Outer Gods of Lovecraftian lore? At this point, speculation is pretty meaningless. Zelretch is about the only person you could possibly reach and even that would be a massive long shot.

The episode of Friends plays as you continue thinking things through, Monica is actually somewhat engrossed in the brand new episode of the show, but you've already seen it, so it's pretty boring for you. Not that you had much interest in watching TV in the first place. Instead your thoughts move back to resolving things in a way that won't get you killed. Gilgamesh is a terrible pain to deal with, yet not impossible, thankfully. You've got at least two paths that will lead to his defeat that you can count on. You could have Saber take care of the pretentious King of Heroes with Avalon, or you could have Shirou challenge the king's pride by challenging him within his reality marble, Unlimited Blade Works. You end up completely losing yourself in your thoughts and zoning out, merely sitting in front of the television and only appearing to be watching the sit-com with Monica, who herself is too entertained by the show to bother paying much attention to you.

Then your thoughts shift to the easily most possibly problematic member of the three potential enemies you'll face. Sakura. You wonder if you could prevent her from ever losing control to the darkness growing within her if you were simply to treat her better than how Shinji originally treated her upon finding out about her true purpose to be the 'heir' of the Matou family. Though you'll still have to work around the heartless monster you call Grandfather. Though it might be possible to extract his worms from Sakura, there's not really a path you can think of that will allow you to do such a thing until after the fifth war has begun, operating on her to extract the crest worms that will end up fusing with her body with Avalon ought to be possible. As would asking Caster to assist you in actually saving your adoptive sister. Though getting Caster's assistance might not be viable.
>>
Still, for all your plans and the information of the future, you're going to run into quite a few problems. Your first problem being that of every master in the Fifth Grail War, Shinji is easily the easiest to kill. Even with Rider at his side, he's basically a joke. You subconsciously frown at calling yourself a joke, but as much as it might bring you displeasure, it's basically the truth. Therefore, you probably ought to start planning on how to survive the future properly, through bettering yourself. So, over the few days you have before heading back to Fuyuki City and the Matou mansion you...

>Focus on getting more charismatic and being better at manipulating people. You hold all the cards, but a terrible pokerface could stand to ruin it all.
Original timeline Shinji put his all and everything into learning magic, supposedly, and it did nothing for him, so I don't think learning it is likely to help us any more. I'm tempted to vote for the Reality Marble idea, but I feel like if we have one it'll develop naturally and if we don't have the talent it'd be an awful waste of time. Bettering our social abilities should give the most payoff for the time investment, and has the best chance of putting our metaknowledge to use.

Even if activated for a brief moment, a reality marble would be very valuable. We already kinda have an alien common sense coming into this world knowing it’s a fictional work so I think it would be well worth the effort.

>Focus on learning as much about magecraft as you possibly can, it's not impossible to cast spells, even without magic circuits.
Someone with no skill in magecraft whatsoever will take years to construct a Reality Marble.
>>4320447
There ARE ways to use magecraft without magic circuits. Formalcraft is a notable form of magecraft that uses only external mana.
Of course, most magi look down on it because you have to perform lengthy rituals for every spell, but it's better than nothing.
>>
>>4320485
Actually, correct that: someone with no skill in magecraft will probably NEVER construct a Reality Marble.
>>

Doesn't Shirou barely have any skill in magecraft if any and still manages to use UBW. Tracu On and all?

Those are functions of UBW, not spells.
>>
>>4320485
>There ARE ways to use magecraft without magic circuits. Formalcraft is a notable form of magecraft that uses only external mana.
I'm aware of this. My point was that as far as I know Shinji is supposed to have spent all the time he could learning those methods in the original story (The Book of False Attendant is a formalcraft-based mystic code, for example) and things still didn't work out for him in any route, so we might want to take a different course.
>>
>>4320504
Sorry, I should have clarified. I mean that Shirou was able to make a reality marble despite his lack of practical magecraft knowledge. I figured that since our character is not from the setting itself, it would be leagues easier to create one by the sheer fact of being some extra-dimensional nerd possessing this poor boy. Remember, we have the experience of an outside observer to the setting as fictional works, or at least a good part of it. Oh also Satsuki got a reality marble stupid quickly after getting DA’d, so it’s not unreasonable for someone like our character to be able to attain one.
>>
>>4320510
Didn't Shinji nearly kill everyone with a mystic code that poured drugs on Sakura? These things aren't weak and I think we need a grasp of how magecraft works for future problems.
>>
>>4320518
The real question is, how much of a nerd are we?
>>
>>4320416
>Focus on getting more charismatic and being better at manipulating people. You hold all the cards, but a terrible pokerface could stand to ruin it all.

>>4320518
Didn't Satsuki get her Reality Marble because she was a latent psychic that got activated after she turned though? Shinji's from a Mage household and they'll have checked him out to see what his capabilities are, if they said he can't do Magecraft at all then he wouldn't have the ability to force his reality onto Gaia.

After a moments consideration, you conclude that the best path for you to take would be to potentially develop a reality marble by learning as much about the concepts behind them as you can. Of course, reality marbles are quite the taboo subject among the magical community. The magecraft closest to approaching the level of True Magic, of course, information about how you would actually go about creating one would be kept as secret as possibility by the practically anyone with the knowledge. It's difficult getting a magus to pass on even the most basic mystery, never mind one willingly disseminating information on creating one of the greatest examples of magecraft possible in the modern world.

Still, with what you know about the existence of reality marbles thanks to the time you spent immersing yourself in the lore of the Nasuverse, you're pretty hopeful that you might just qualify as being able to create a reality marble with a little more ease than the normal magus. After all, if Alien Common Sense is a requirement for creating a Reality Marble, and Shirou's self-destructive beliefs allowed him to manifest Unlimited Blade Works, then what would the knowledge that the very world itself is all just a fictional story do? Best you not think about the fact that right now, the reality you are currently residing to you feels about as real as Friends must feel to Monica. Is it possible for you to go back to your original life? Did you perhaps die? What happened that led to this occurring to you of all people?

Regardless of your knowledge of the truth behind the world's existence, you still actually need to try to find out how to develop your reality marble. You suppose that learning about the basics of bounded fields ought to really help you out in that regard. A reality marble is some sort of internalized bounded field that can be projected outside the body, if you are remembering things correctly. Hopefully at least one or two of the books in this house are focused on the creation of bounded fields. While it's unlikely any of them will actually have usable bounded fields, figuring out the basics behind their creation will hopefully make your job much easier, you can already tell that you're going to have a difficult path ahead of you, when it comes to creating a reality marble. Though at least you aren't going to hide in a storage shed and superheat your spine every night for half a decade like some people might... you know, you probably ought to get Shirou to stop doing that when you meet him.
>>
You certainly aren't stubborn enough to go through the terrible process of 'creating' a magic circuit by cannibalizing one of your own nerves to do so. Shinji isn't like Shirou though, who had his own bunch of magic circuits just going unused because Kiritsugu is apparently just as bad a teacher as he is a husband. You turn to the spellcaster still watching the television, Friends ended at some point, and now she's watching some sort of documentary with a barely interested expression. "Monica-san, I'm going to read for a while, OK?" You get up from your seat.

She lazily looks at you before shrugging. "Yeah, sure kid. You go do whatever you want." With that, you take your leave of the spellcaster and head to the bookshelves in the house. Annoyingly enough, most of the grimoires and volumes in this house are of very little value, most of them only existing as decorations for this secondary property of the Matou. You imagine if this house was ever host to any truly valuable magical information, it wouldn't have been for very long. Zouken would've seen to that. Despite his ancient status, the old man remained fairly shrewd up until his final moments. Even after losing sight of his original goal, Zolgen Makiri never became a man to be trifled with foolishly. It was his machinations in Heaven's Feel that allowed Medea to be taken out with such ease, if you are remembering things properly.

You wander around the shelves to look for a few books that might serve at least some purpose for your current goal. While actually learning how to create a reality marble might be easier if you had the assistance of some prodigy magus like say, Rin. If Shirou Emiya was capable of creating one, and Satsuki Yumizuka was also capable of the creation of her own reality marble, surely it can't be that difficult when the pieces are actually in place for the marble to be created. Hopefully, your theory about Alien Common Sense holds at least some water when it comes to the creation of a marble, otherwise you stand to waste a lot of time.

Over the next few days, you spend most of your waking hours consigned to the library of the house, reading the books that were too difficult for a child's mind to comprehend, as well as the books you obviously weren't intended to read at all. Shinji's understanding of the English language before your intrusion into his body was... limited, to say the least. Most of the information written in the books you find is contradictory in nature, and it takes a fair amount of cross referencing between multiple books on the creation of bounded fields until you feel like you've actually managed to come up with a suitable method to weave magical energy into a network in order to create a bounded field. The only issue, is that no matter how satisfied you might be with your newly created technique, you can't actually test it without any magic circuits.
>>
Monica occasionally came to watch you over the week as you rifled through the various books like a man possessed, obviously fairly impressed by the work ethic of an eight year old boy apparently desperately trying to find out how to do something. To her, it might look like the work of a young prodigy as he tears his way through multiple books in record time. Though by the way the frown never leaves her face, you'd probably say it's a fairly safe bet that she's aware of your lack of magical energy.

Still, you've managed to satisfy yourself after dissecting the multiple diagrams in the books, it's odd. You feel like separately, neither set of memories occupying your body would've been able to so thoroughly pick apart all that magical theory, just through cross-referencing it against each other theory, you managed to create your own method of constructing a bounded field, all by yourself.

Now the next challenge you're going to face is going to well, actually getting a hold of magical energy somehow. Of course, formalcraft rituals do exist, and it's not actually impossible to simply cast spells with just the mana found in the atmosphere. Still, you'll need to find a way around Shinji's lack of magic circuits if you ever want to be taken even somewhat seriously by anyone in the magical world.

Eventually, your study is interrupted by Monica, who calls out to you. "Shinji...-kun, I've just been informed that your father will be arriving in the next fifteen minutes or so, so you had probably better finish up your studies." Despite not really spending all too much time with the spellcaster come babysitter since the two halves of 'you' became one, she seems to have a visibly better disposition towards you. You don't really understand why though, it's not really like much changed in how you acted after learning of this prior life and of the falseness of reality. You just upped the intensity of research is all. Unfortunately, the content of her order is of far more concern to you than how she feels about you right now. It seems that your brief period of freedom from the insidious evil that is your grandfather is about to come to an end. You wonder how your father is coping with losing one of his hands to Kiritsugu, you do hope that he isn't driving, as pathetic as you think the man is, he's still your father, and the complete destruction of his ego at the hands of Zouken is yet another crime you intend to make that old bastard suffer for.

thinking about this logically, even if you somehow manage to escape and get to Waver, he's still too young and inexperienced to do anything worthwhile, he isn't El Melloi II yet. Beg. Like seriously attempt to get her to let us apprentice with her for a few years. She seems to be a decent mage and this is our best shot to not follow the rails back to Fuyuki.
It'll give us more time to learn the state of the world and to try and learn magecraft/marble too. Or do you expect Shinji's grandpa to actually help with that.

I was honestly thinking about accepting fate, but that would also mean being in the constant watch of old man Zouken and being at the mercy of his lovely worms. We gotta stay the fuck out of there, at least until we are capable of defending ourselves in some capacity. Dad’s pretty much dead anyways and there’s a worm pit with our name on it if we do something fishy at Zouken’s place. We should try convincing Monica by whatever means we can to delay our arrival in Fuyuki, at least by a few years or more. There’s a few very useful potential allies here in London too so it’s not a waste of an option by any means.
>>
You know I wondered, does anyone think we can get Kirei to remove worm from Sakura early? They wouldn’t have fused right away so there’s at least some time.

There's no sense in trying to run from it. While Zouken probably wouldn't care too much if you tried to run, you don't really have anywhere else to go. Sure, you could try to convince Monica here to take you with her and teach you the life of a freelance spellcaster, but you shouldn't actually have any magic circuits, so you'd probably struggle terribly if you actually had to help her on whatever missions she usually goes for. You might know how to use a gun and throw a punch, but when you're up against the Dead or Dead Apostles, you're really going to need more than mundane firepower.

You suppose you're just going to have to play the part of an eight year old, then. Other than having information of how the future will play out, your one single advantage over Zouken is that the ancient magus thinks that you're just another worthless failure. He might end up using you to torment Sakura in some way, but other than that, he won't really care about anything you do. Byakuya isn't really much of a person anymore either. Between the destruction of the man's ego, his rampant alcoholism and now the horrible PTSD he must have from losing his hand, you can't see him ever being anything other than Zouken's puppet. He's just a completely broken wreck.

Besides, if you avoided going to Fuyuki, you would miss out on the opportunity to at least try to make Sakura's life a little better. As well as not being able to meet Shirou or Rin, who could easily prove themselves to be both invaluable as allies, as well as friends. Shirou especially. There's a part of you that deeply wants to prevent the self-destructive idiot from stupidly giving himself a bad end, such a selfless person like Shirou doesn't deserve to end up like EMIYA, after all, there's definitely nothing wrong with the thought of wanting to help others.

With an apprehensive smile, you finally respond to Monica. "Ah. Well, looks like we probably won't be seeing each other again then, doesn't it, Monica-san?" While you don't know much about the woman, it is something of a shame that you'll be unlikely to encounter her again. But you suppose that it really can't be helped. You can't reveal too much otherwise you'd just look incredibly suspicious. You're only eight years old right now, after all.
>>
The woman laughs a little before handing you a slip of paper, some sort of business card? Reading the card, you finally learn her full name and her own description of her job, 'Monica Eisenmann, freelance security technician', as well as an address and a phone number for her personal offices. As you finish reading the business card, the woman smiles at you "Don't be like that Shinji-kun. It's probably a little wrong that I'm advertising my... business to a child, but you seem smart enough to understand just what it is I do." You freeze up a little. "Come on, I'm not stupid, you figured out what I really was last week, didn't you? I'm not sure how you managed it but I could tell from how you started looking at me." Oh. Well then. That isn't great. Though you won't be making the same mistake in the future. From this point on, your entire life will revolve around deception and manipulation, the full extent of your knowledge never being able to be revealed lest it give people the existential crisis such information may very well be able to cause.

Needless to say, you're pretty stunned by how Monica just so casually revealed that she had seen right through you. "O-oh. Well... thank you, Monica-san, if I ever need a... freelance security technician, I'll be in touch?" You commit the phone number and address to memory. A contact like Monica could end up invaluable in the future, after all.

"Just don't try to hire me to deal with school bullies or anything, alright?" The woman gives you a dangerous smile as she casually confirms the nature of her job as a 'security technician'. "If you ever get into trouble with some real dangerous people though, I suppose I can give you a discounted price to get rid of them." This... this woman, she's genuinely offering to be a killer-for-hire to an eight year old! Just how messed up is this world?! Wait... nevermind. You know exactly how messed up this world is, magi in general are all absolutely awful people. There's only a few exceptions to that rule, yet the vast majority of the most powerful and influential people in this world are arrogant imbeciles like the late Kayneth, or literal psychopaths like Zouken or Kirei. Thanks a lot, Nasu.
>>
There are no more words exchanged between you and Monica. The whole offering to murder people for an eight year old thing has kind of made you a little uncomfortable, and it looks like Monica has also realized that too. So you just wait around for Byakuya to arrive, and after 20 minutes of waiting, your father finally appears through the front door of the fairly large house. The man looks really quite paranoid as he looks around the house, instead of greeting his son, he instead looks past you and into the shadows, as if expecting them to animate and attack him. That's what a visit from the magus killer would do to a man, you suppose. It's really quite funny, you're one of the few people on the planet who genuinely understands Kiritsugu's motives, to everyone else who knew of the Magus Killer, they would only have seen one of the most ruthless and effective killers on the entire planet instead of a man who genuinely hated doing what he did, sacrificing the few for the many.

"Otousan." You coldly greet the shell of a man as he peers into the hallway. Shinji's memories barely held any affection for his father, and the other set of memories has no real opinion on the man other than pity.

"It's time to leave, Shinji." The wreck of a man's voice is quiet, there's hardly any light in his eyes at all. If Kiritsugu became a broken man after the conclusion of the Fourth Holy Grail War, then Byakuya was shattered into pieces a long time even before that. The only difference being that Kiritsugu managed to find at least some peace in the days before his death, despite his constant failures to rescue his daughter. Byakuya meanwhile will spend the next seven years of his life suffering thanks to Zouken before eventually dying a truly miserable death.

"Of course." You really have nothing to say to the man, he's a lost cause in practically every regard. It's a sad thing, to have so little compassion for your father, but you'll need to prepare your heart if you are to make it through the next ten years. You refrain from asking him about his missing hand, no sense in potentially setting off any Kiritsugu-related PTSD he might have. You follow the man out of the house and into a waiting vehicle, looks like Byakuya hired somebody to drive the two of you to the airport after all.
>>
The journey back to Fuyuki is a relatively uneventful one, and you arrive back at the Matou manor at around noon. You hardly share any words with your father, much to the man's relief, it seems. After informing you of your new sister that was adopted into the family, he didn't say anything else to you. Of course, with the part the man is playing in the... treatment Sakura is receiving, you know exactly why he isn't exactly comfortable with talking about her.

As you pull up to the Matou mansion, you spot Sakura waiting outside the front door, apparently waiting for the arrival of her brother. The girl looks genuinely miserable, her eyes empty of any real emotion and her smile as fake as it could possibly be. She's trying her hardest to disguise the pain she's going through, and it might've fooled the original Shinji, but it won't fool you.

>>
>>4322486
Anon, going to Fuyuki is pivotal to success. Kiritsugu is still alive, we go to his house and convince him to actually teach Shirou (also promising him to save Illya because god fucking dammit he deserves to die happy) and get Rin to become his mentor early on, he'll get a jumpstart on UBW and we'll up our survival chances and gain useful allies. You have to suppress the urge to just outright walk up to the girl and try to comfort her. With all she's been through so far, the last thing she really needs is for a complete stranger to start laying their hands on her. As much as it pains you to see the girl obviously suffering like this, you'll just have to try to bear with it for now. You can't really go ahead and start acting too strangely just yet, while Zouken himself doesn't give a rats ass about you, he'd definitely notice if you got too attached to your new sister too quickly.

He would also likely use you as leverage over Sakura, if he realizes there's a genuine positive emotional connection between the two of you, he might end up organizing your death just to break the girl even further mentally. In the Matou manor, it's going to be kill or be killed, but unfortunately for you, your opponent is a five hundred year old magus who is almost impossible to actually kill unless you are willing to kill Sakura as well, and killing Sakura... well that's just completely out of the question, the girl doesn't deserve any of the suffering she's forced through. Silently, you once again curse the creator of this world in your head. While it might've made for a good story, actually being confronted with somebody who is suffering so much like Sakura is enough to almost break your heart.

You clench your fist. You have to stay determined, if you allow yourself to falter, then only a Bad End will await you. You've already come to terms that in this new life of yours, death will only ever be one misstep away. You aren't going to let that stop you though. It would probably be wiser for you to just run away from it all. But you mustn't run away. You look the melancholic girl straight in the eye as you introduce yourself, trying to keep the look of pity and sadness out of your own expression. "Hi! You're Sakura right? I heard that you're my younger sibling now, aren't you?" The girl's expression hardly changes, but she does nod slowly. "W-well, if I'm you're older sibling, then that means it's my job to protect you, doesn't it?" The girl looks at you with a tiny amount more intensity, before it once again fades away into that blank look that causes you to feel second hand sorrow for the poor girl.
>>
The girl runs a hand through her hair slowly, stopping as she reaches the ribbon that Rin gave her. "Is that what older siblings are supposed to do?" Is all that she says before she turns around and re-enters the house. You stand there, motionless as you watch the girl walk away. Did you... accidentally remind her of Rin? Her reaction was quite rude, but faulting her for it would be idiotic. You can't help but curse mentally as you realize your mistake. But you aren't about to be deterred by Sakura's complete lack of emotion. Of course, before she was given a breath of life by watching Shirou's magical woman attracting high-jump, she'd still be an emotionless husk. Getting Sakura to start acting like a human being once again is going to be quite a difficult task, and your family name certainly isn't going to help either.

Byakuya doesn't even really pay much attention to the exchange, simply shuffling inside the house like the broken man he is, probably to either indulge himself in his alcoholism or whatever else it is he does in his spare time when he's not busy being Zouken's puppet.

You start to think of just what you ought to do, you might only be an eight year old right now, but with the knowledge you hold, making changes to the future would be simple. You just have to know what to do and when to do it. Even so, you will probably have to be careful not to reveal too much to whoever you end up talking to. For example, telling Rin about what's really going on with Sakura or that Kotomine is the one who murdered her father and was indirectly responsible for her mother's brain death is just going to lead to the young magus to get herself into a situation that will invariably end up with her dying, and probably also your own death, depending on how investigative the person she goes after is feeling.

Of course, you could also visit Kiritsugu, and try to convince him using your knowledge of the future. But he's a truly broken man now, and it might not be possible for you to motivate him. Though you are fairly certain he made repeated attempts to save Illya from her fate as the Einzbern's grail, even despite his constantly worsening condition. Though Kiritsugu is far wiser than Rin is, and attempting to talk with him might just end up with him wondering just how you know everything you do. But then again, how would the man react if you simply told him some embellished version of the truth? Why you could even lie and say you saw it in a vision, or you have some for of Mystic Eyes that allow you to perceive the future and the past of both this timeline and others. Though you aren't sure if anybody would buy the notion of you having mystic eyes like that.

Then there's the possibility of going to the Emiya residence not for the sake of speaking with Kiritsugu, but for befriending the young Shirou. He is the main character of Fate/Stay Night after all, and with the right guidance, he could be the greatest asset you have for solving the Fifth Holy Grail war. Of course, you don't quite know what sort of reaction EMIYA might have upon seeing Shinji acting so... well, Out of Character. Would the red garbed Counter Guardian just write it off as a quirk of this particular timeline? You don't really know.

Another option would be to visit Fuyuki Church, an idea that you completely dread when thinking with any sort of rationality. While you might be able to ask Kotomine to teach you in the art of self-defense with his admittedly excellent skills with Bajiquan, he's incredibly unpredictable, and might just want to see you suffer somehow. Of all of the options you have laid before you right now, there's not much that you can think that's more dangerous than interacting with Kirei Kotomine. Like Shirou is the main protagonist of Fate/Stay Night. Kotomine is the main antagonist, so actually interacting with the literal psychopath could net you a one way trip to the Fuyuki Church basement.

Well, you're only eight years old, so it might not even be possible to get around Fuyuki city without being stopped and asked where your guardian is. At least you aren't likely to be stopped from going about your business by your actual guardians though, Byakuya is a wreck and Zouken doesn't care about you at all. You suppose you could always head inside the house to try to read the more valuable magical tomes and grimoires of the Matou. Or even to try to cheer up your sister, you aren't really happy with the way that your first encounter with Sakura went at all.

>Go inside the Matou Residence and try reading a few of the grimoires

I JUST WANT SAKURA TO BE FUCKING HAPPY BROS I CAN'T. Also, it'd be fucking weird to show up to the Tohsaka or Emiya Residence unannounced and say "hey I wanna be friends with you" or "hey, i'm from another universe and i have information that can change your life". We should wait until we actually go to school and befriend Shirou and Rin naturally and hangout at their house

Try to act friendly while staying as much in-character as possible. Basically just try to find out more about her and talk her up the way an actual kid our age would on being suddenly handed a new sibling (without being the kind of prick Shinji would be, of course).
More important than this choice in particular, though, I'd vote for anything to keep us away from Kiritsugu. Nothing good can come of getting involved with him; if we meet Shirou before he's dead, it should be at school only.

>>
>>4322895
There's a simple solution, all we have to do is kill Zouken

Ask her about herself, what she likes to do, things like that.

>>4322875
If we get far enough into the development of our Reality Marble we should be able to survive any of Zouken's execution attempts.
You can't be nice to Sakura and not make yourself a target for Zouken, and I'd rate being nice above our potential demise.
Besides, he's likely to let our relationship develop for a while before offing us to show Sakura how little control she has.
>>
>>4322895
well its not like he's gonna kill Shinji the moment he realizes that Sakura loves him. He didn't do anything to Shirou or Rin until the HGW. If anything, Zouken would let those feelings stew until he kills Shinji. Also Sakura isn't dumb, she knows what's gonna happen if her feelings are known to Zouken

Didn't OG Shinji spend ages studying Magecraft before Zouken broke him? This seems like the safest option since it's closest to "canon".
>>

In-character as a child I mean, so as not to attract undue attention. That's why I pointed out in the same post that I didn't want to act rude or supercilious, the way Shinji actually would.
>>
>>4322814
>Go inside the Matou Residence and try reading a few of the grimoires
Rin is gonna be sad since her dad is dead, her mom is insane, and now her guardian is a weird priest
The Emiya household is just going to be a wreak since Kiritsugu is trying to pick up the pieces and Shirou hasn't learned to human again yet
Sakura needs time to get used to SI Shinji and just seeing him becoming the one fixture in her life that doesn't cause her pain will have her want to be near him
Would want to go to the church to, not for Kirei but to see if you could talk to Gil and see if he takes a liking to you just like he did with Kirei
>>
>>4323173
Now that's just uncalled for.
It's not impossible to write two quests at once anon. I just wanted to try writing something a little different from my usual quest.
Also this idea has been eating away at me for like a year now since I first saw it, and I just wanted to see it executed.
Please understand.
It's not like I'm ever going to drop Castlevania, so you needn't worry about that.
And as for the whole metagaming aspect, I just thought it was a neat idea for a mechanic.

You know, despite having both Shinji's memories and (You)r own, it looks like (You) [name pending] are in control and Shinji's personality doesn't have much presence. Does that mean he's watching someone else pilot his body, helpless to do or say anything?

Not quite, it's more the two of your souls fused into a single gestalt existence, the reason (You)r personality took charge is a combination of the greater life experience and a few other reasons.
While 'you' are Shinji as much as you are (You), the Shinji parts are far less pronounced.

>>
>>4323581
Morel like being able to delete anything in the radius when deployed, and surviving any fatal attacks when not.
>>
>>4323582
Huh. I was thinking something like what Caster Gilles does, but more along the lines of
>character X can manifest fictional characters into the physical world, with all their powersets and memories and everything intact from the end of their series, at the cost of energy
>if character X dies, all manifested fictional characters die instantly irregardless of their current health conditions
>character X can create duplicates of fictional characters and merge them to power them up, but this costs energy as well
>character X can recall fictional characters to X's own location at will
>character X can damage or delete manifested fictional characters at will, as well as alter them (i.e. buff, debuff, etc.), all at the cost of energy
>if a fictional character dies, they stay dead and all information they had accumulated is lost
>if a fictional character is remanifested, they are the same as if they were manifested from nothing to begin with (i.e. reset)
So basically more of a puppeteer, info-gathering sort of powerset. What do you think?

No. As much as it might help to maybe go and meet one of the people you'll be counting on to help you in the future, you can't just leave your first interaction with Sakura in such a bad place. You don't really know what you'll have to say to the girl, but even so, her misery is just something you can't tolerate. Somebody like Sakura really doesn't deserve her current situation. Honestly, Tokiomi was such a fool in sending his daughter of to be raised as a Matou that it's a wonder he didn't manage to get himself killed before Kotomine ran him through. Then again, everyone in Zero acted as stupidly as they possibly could to maximize the suffering. The thing is though, despite Zero being supposedly a direct prequel to Stay/Night, you're pretty certain that it's supposedly in a slightly different timeline thanks to Urobuchi being unable to stay within the lines. Ah well, it can't have occurred that much differently from your own recollection of events.

You walk into the house, intending to find Sakura and try to make something of a better first impression of the girl. It's really not something that Shinji would've done before upon being so rudely rejected, but you'd have to be completely heartless not to consider Sakura a special case. It's not like she would've ever acted like this to anyone if not for Zouken's horrible treatment of her. You can barely even stomach imagining the appearance of those disgusting crest worms now. Just knowing what goes on down in the Matou mansion basement is enough to make you want to burn this place to the ground. But you can't act hasty, and the destruction of the Matou manor would undoubtedly leave you deprived of whatever grimoires that the Matou have gathered in over five hundred years of their history. Also, it wouldn't even kill Zouken, and he'd quickly move to put an end to you if you decided upon such an audacious action.

Zouken is the man who was slippery enough in his magecraft that he managed to deal with even Caster, the so-called greatest magus alive on the planet when she is summoned. Of course, this qualification of being so excellent at magecraft never stopped the tragic woman from failing at winning the war. Honestly though, with the presence of Gilgamesh in the war, there was really no possible path for victory for her. Even if she tried to pit Kuzuki, Assassin and a stolen Saber up against the King of Heroes with herself acting as support, you can't see the battle ending in any way that ends in her victory. She either gets impaled by swords along with Kuzuki and Assassin, or she simply gets crushed by Gil deciding to use Enuma Elish against Saber. You shake your head to clear your mind of these thoughts. You're getting distracted, right now, the future doesn't matter.
>>
All that matters for now is trying to help Sakura. It might bring you into direct conflict with Zouken's goals, but even if he decides upon killing you at a later date to exert his power over Sakura in an effort to mentally dominate the girl, you'll be ready for him. That worm bastard is going to die suffering, and you don't even care if you have to get Kirei Kotomine to do it. Thankfully though, Kotomine isn't exactly the only member of the Church in existence, so having Zouken receive an exorcism might not have to rely on you being able to convince the fake priest into going along with your plans. Kirei Kotomine is a very dangerous man, and you don't really want to have to include him in any plan you might have for the future. Well, except maybe scheduling his death.

Your thoughts turn to what you ought to say to Sakura as you ascend the stairs to head to her room. Should you apologize to her? What for? It's not like you're complicit in the horrible things happening to her, you're eight years old! You shouldn't even know what she's going through, never-mind care about her! Then the only solution you can take with Sakura is to be an overly affectionate older brother to her. It's really not ideal, but at least it won't be so suspicious that Zouken starts to look into things with more scrutiny. Of course, you doubt anybody would be able to come to the conclusion as to what you truly are, but he could easily surmise that Kariya revealed the truth of the Matou family to you before his death during the war.

You slowly make your way to Sakura's room, pushing open the door to enter the almost completely undecorated room. The very same room that you might have ended up dying in during one of the many terrible choices Shinji would've made. Sakura is actually sitting on her bed hunched into a ball. She barely even makes a response as you enter the room, but she's at least aware of your entry. You clear your throat before trying to talk to the girl once again. "Sakura, I... I don't know what sort of stuff you're going through, but I... I don't want you to be sad." You pause for a moment, and regard the girl with a sad look in your eyes. "I'm not going to pry and ask what's wrong, and I'm not going to assume I know what's going on either." Of course, making an assumption that you know what's going on would be completely wrong. You know exactly what this poor girl is being put through, yet you manage to avoid showing your true feelings to the girl.

"Why are you being nice to me? What's the point?" Sakura's voice is quiet as she finally begins to speak. The girl obviously has no idea what it is you're actually trying to do. But she doesn't bother to get out of her hunched up position, at least not yet.
>>
"Do I need a reason to be nice to my little sister? We're supposed to be family now, Sakura" You lower your voice and flick your eyes about the room "...But we can't let the adults know we're friends, alright?" You mentioning your own distrust of Zouken in a roundabout way however does get her attention, finally raising her head to look you in the eye.

"I... I don't know... Grandfather is..." She's clearly having some pretty major doubts about everything. Not that you blame her after what she's gone through. She's only what, seven years old? The fact that she's even capable of functioning at all is testament to just how mentally strong that she is. You distinctly remember what happened to Rin when she ran her mouth in the Femme Fatale ending. She broke down after only the first day of experiencing Sakura's training.

"It doesn't matter, Sakura! Why don't we go somewhere together? Get away from this gloomy mansion for a while, y'know?" If you're actually going to cheer Sakura up at all, then getting away from this place of suffering would really go a long way.

"Go... somewhere? But where would we go?" Sakura raises a good question, and one that gives you pause. You wonder if Sakura would even be able to enjoy anything right now. She'll appreciate being away from the mansion though, hopefully. At least Shinji has a huge allowance for a child as young as him. As terrible as the Matou might be, they aren't exactly tight on cash. getting

we don't really need to summon and it might be beneficial if we didn't, we could screw things up and make our meta knowledge worthless if we summon someone different. I think we should just let Sakura do her thing and find Caster before Kuzuki and pray she doesn't kill us for looking like Jason
>>
>>4323969
I'm pretty sure that as a child in Fuyuki we aren't going to have much in the way of chances to get a catalyst, so I'd lay my bet that Sakura will summon Rider as normal.
>>
>>4323982
Summoning makes us a target. Our foreknowledge means we could work best influencing events from the shadows through others.
>>
>>4323982
>we could screw things up and make our meta knowledge worthless
It would not. All we'd lose is the ability to predict the routes. All the other metaknowledge we have, the identity of servants and their abilities, people and how they act, what artifacts and spells are and how they act will all be perfectly usable.
Fuck sticking to canon.
>>
Main problem with summoning and screwing up timeline is that our possible list of servants who can actually help us get to a good ending is rather limited.

>>4323974

>>4323975
I’m confused i thought Emiya was inly archer is this some grand order shit. Emiya is potentially broken if we keep him under control and don’t let him go after Shirou
>>
>>4323999
It gives us more of a chance at a good ending then sticking to canon and following the routes does.
Fuck, that's why we should be training ourselves in magic, martial arts, whatever while targetting the catalysts for one of those good end servants.
>>
>>4324010
Also sticking to cannon is no fun
>>
>>4324010
So, putting aside the EMIYA variants (they're from alternate timelines and the future so getting a catalyst for any would be either insanely difficult or just impossible) who do you think those Servants might be, what do you think their catalysts might be, and how do you propose we plan to get them?
Personally I think our best chance of success lies in working with the pieces we're most familiar with, the canon characters of the 5th HGW, but if you've got a really solid plan I'm open to changing my mind.
Personal training is a given necessity, although there's no way Kirei or Kiritsugu is going to give us anything worthwhile. I'd say chatting up Kuzuki would be our best bet for becoming a fighter. We know his wacky punches work on Servants, too.

Yes. EMIYA (Assassin) is Kerry, and Detroit EMIYA is EMIYA corrupted by Kiara which turns him into a black man.

Nah, wouldn't want to gimp ourselves with a useless Servant.

Honestly, I think our best bet is not to rock the boat with summonings, it introduces randomness into everything plus I want everyone to get a good ending

WIth Edgar being an overseer.
>>4324010
>>4324019
We either need somebody who can brutefroce their way through the war like Altera or Karna or some way to cheat given our unique circumstances. Andersen might be a good bet for latter and any of his books might work as a catalyst.
>>
>>4324019
Any good mage would be top fucking tier. Solomon would be amazing, but that'd require one of his rings and the only place I can think of getting that is Clock Tower.
Merlin would be great, but I have no idea what we'd get as a catalyst for him.
Jeanne or Jeanne (Alter) would be good, but I doubt the Grail will let us have a Ruler, and we'd probably need Gilles' fanfiction for Jeanne (Alter)
Demon King Nobu or Okita Souji (Alter) would be good, we'd have a decent chance of finding something belonging to one of them in Japan too. Though trying to summon Okita (Alter) runs the risk of summoning Okita, and that Tuberculosis trait is a brutal drawback.
We could probably get a Foreigner by drawing on the same alien nature that gives us the potential for a reality marble. Mysterious Heroine XX would be nice. I doubt we'd be able to get Voyager.

Ough. Pulling from the most fanfic-y of FGO's pile of ridiculousness. Can't say I'd support any of these ideas.
By the way, Jeanne Alter had to be created with the power of the Holy Grail and isn't in the Throne, so she shouldn't be possible to summon under any circumstances. Nobunaga or Okita might be decent servants, although I'm not sure how they'd stack up against the Fuyuki group.
Merlin never actually dies, so summoning him should be impossible.
>>4324031
It's worth remembering that more powerful Servants require more energy, and right now we still have no working magic circuits. While it's possible we might be able to activate them in the future, as far as we know right now any attempt to support a Servant would end up killing us.
>>4324053
Can't exist outside of the Mooncell, unfortunately.
>>
>>4324058
>Pulling from the most fanfic-y of FGO's pile of ridiculousness.
Hey man, we're in Fuyuki and we want to good ending the whole shebang. FGO ridiculousness is exactly what we need.
If we could pull Demon King Nobu or Okita (Alter) they'd probably stack up super well. Normal Nobu would probably do okay, normal Okita's tb trait though is a massive handicap even though without it she'd probably be able to 1v1 me bro anyone.

>although there's no way Kirei or Kiritsugu is going to give us anything worthwhile.
We might be able to get stuff from them, but Kirei is a massive risk. Though, doesn't he teach Rin Baijiquan? If we're good with her, we might be able to have her show us some.
If we want anything from Kerry, we'd have to heal him. We'd need Avalon for that, which means we'd need Gray.
If we end up meeting Waver and getting him to like us enough we can borrow Gray for a day or two, I'd totally suggest we heal Kerry,
>>
>>4324064
>1v1 me bro anyone

Okita isn't a dragon, so clearly Sasaki's dragon slaying prowess doesn't work on her.

>If we end up meeting Waver and getting him to like us enough we can borrow Gray for a day or two, I'd totally suggest we heal Kerry
I can't imagine how we'd be able to swing that, but sure. Also, hasn't Kiritsugu already stuck Avalon into Shirou's chest by now? Pulling it out to use it while he's still a kid might interfere with the development of UBW. Just something to think about.
Honestly, if we summon a Servant at some point in this quest my biggest hope is that it's a new character written by the QM. Pulling FGO stuff in is still sticking within canon, after all; if we're going to really mess with events, some OC would be appreciated.
>>
>>4324070

If All Fiction Reality Marble will ended up being real and can fuck with summoning process it is possible that we can pull not just OC historical servant but more weird stuff which normally would not be ever possibly summoned. Potentially ranging from national personifications and all other spectres of communism to even personifications of warships and so on.
But that's likely way too off the rails and just asking to get Alayaed on spot.

Well I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that you might not be Abel.
I mean seriously, getting a hold of a catalyst for Cain or any of the super ancient biblical figures is in reality going to be even harder than getting a catalyst for a servant like Gilgamesh.
I mean, you could try using a bible in the summoning, but using a bible as a catalyst would basically be the equivalent of Christianity Gacha.
>>
>>4324118
Let's head to Rome and get Peter or Paul.

>>
>>4324129
That has a chance of summoning a random jew who wrote the bible though
>>
>>4324123
>but i gotta disagree that it'd be harder to find a catalyst for Cain than for Gil
Cain is from before the Great Flood
Gilgamesh in the epic seeks Utnapishtim, his ancestor who was tasked by the god Ea to build a ship to preserve life from the flood and was granted immortality for it.

Cain predates Gilgamesh by quite a long time, but then again, Cain isn't a hero. He's quite literally the first human to ever be born of human parents. Finding a suitable catalyst for him should therefore be even harder than finding one that would allow you to summon Gilgamesh. Just like you couldn't really be expected to find a catalyst that would allow for the summoning of Adam or Eve.
Especially given that the Great Flood would've served to completely annihilate all traces of civilization.

>>4324129
I don't think the system could really be cheated like that. Especially given that catalysts are often almost completely ruined.

>>4324126
>>4324144
What could an angel or a prophet like Noah or Moses possibly want with a fake Holy Grail? Nevermind that the angels wouldn't be on the throne in the first place.
>>
>>4324159
>Nevermind that the angels wouldn't be on the throne in the first place.
Hey man, weird shit ends up on the throne. Especially the fucked up Angry Manjew corrupted grail and throne.

>Just like you couldn't really be expected to find a catalyst that would allow for the summoning of Adam or Eve.
What if we used an Apple?
>>
How powerful would George Washington be? We could easily get a catalyst for him by just taking a trip to Virginia then doing a little burglary
>>
>>4324162
Nah, man. If we're going to summon a president, we want Theodore Roosevelt.
>>
>>4324161
I don’t believe the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good an evil would be an actual apple much less if it were an apple that is still around today considering how we cross breed and select for different traits among plants
>>
>>4324161
>What if we used an Apple?
You'd summon Steve Jobs.
Or Isaac Newton, if anyone at all.

>>4324162
In general, the more recent the servant, the less powerful that they are.
Except in bizarre cases like Tesla where the rules are ignored for the rule of cool.
Washington wouldn't be that powerful, unfortunately.
>>
>>4324162
Modern servant = shit unless typemoon wants to wank them(see tesla)
>>
>>4324168
TR may or may not be on the throne of heroes (though he was incredibly based) but Washington is for sure. Both were honestly too good for this world.

Also did you know Washington was a ginger?
>>
>>4324159
Gil in a historical timeline, is the first hero but also from the oldest piece of text in human history. Mythological timelines are weird, if we took them at face value, then we can make an argument that Indian Heroes predate Gilgamesh. There are also multiple flood events throughout mythologies, Biblical and Utnapishtim aren't necessarily the same
>>
>>4324171
and Edmond Dantes, and Nightingale, basically, this servant is strong or weak if we feel like it
>>
>>4324170
Hey, WhatIs.
Give us Voyager.

>TR may or may not be on the throne of heroes
I'm sure if he isn't on the throne of heroes, just by attempting to summon him will cause grail to bend the rules for such a based badass.
He would probably be far too strong though, I imagine with him at our side the grail war would be over before it began.
>>
>>4324171
Dang that sucks. Ok so what if we had non berserker Hercules wouldn’t that be cool. Or we could use any old copy of the Ten Commandments and get Moses right? Moses would be broken
>>

>>
Attention gentleman, it has come to my attention that my name has been thrown around in this thread. I would love nothing more than to participate in your splendid little grail war and show these other servants what a man is capable of. You need nothing more than a rock out of Yosemite national park to summon me, as I founded it. Because of that, I have the entire backing of Mother Nature. Good day gentleman, I look forward to seeing you in the form of one Matou Shinji in the future.
>>
lowkey though, strongest Servant we can get easily is Solomon. Moneybills has his ring but didn't do anything with it in the FSN because he somehow knew the Grail was fucked so i doubt he'd mind if we borrowed it in exchange for some Bitcoin

>>
>>4324218
Solid point. Winning the grail war with him also kicked off the whole plot of FGO, so summoning him would be just about the biggest mistake in the world if we did get the chance.
>>
do we actually need money? Investing in Google and Facebook is cool and everything but we're kinda already rich as it is
>>
>>4324224
Except we know Moneybills has one. Unless god comes down and takes it away, we have a shot at getting it.

>>4324230

>>4324263
That's only in FGO though, in SN he completely ignores the Grail so he'd have no catalyst for it.

Faction predictions?
Illya having a sizable contingent is a near certainty, but she'll face significant competition from the yet to be revealed oc girl.
There will be one anon aggressively shilling Rin.
Nor incest with Sakura as an oddball.
Saber will be largely disregarded.
>>
Isn’t Osakabehime actually still around in her castle in Osaka, just NEETing around and shit?
>>
>>4324387
Sakura seems to already have a sizable faction. I'm willing to bet they'll clash hard with the Illyafags.
Saber is Shirou's Waifu, we don't want to cuck Shirou. He's a bro.
Don't count out servants. Depending on who we summon, people might latch onto them as a waifu.

>>
>>4324417
I’m on the Ilya boat because she never got her own route although in heavens feel she totally stole the show
>>
>>4324387
Romance with Illya is my main goal, but I'd like us to at least be a close brother to Sakura so she doesn't latch on to and obsess over Shirou. I think incest with Shinji was part of the magical treatment Zouken had planned for her, though, so I'm not sure how that whole dynamic will play out with us not being an awful rapist.
If we can avoid Rin completely, I will be happy.
>>
>>4324453
Rin's the primary source of Baijiquan that isn't Kirei. So I'd like to at least be friends with her enough that she could give us second hand teaching.
>>
>>4324453
I think some of you have forgotten that Shinji straight up has to have sex with Sakura if we don't kill Zouken early. Those worms drive her lust up and she's straight up going to die if she doesn't have sex so, yeah, fucked up road ahead of us

"How about we go the shopping center for the day, Sakura? I think you might enjoy going to Verde?" Honestly, you have way too much disposable income for a child. A fifty thousand yen a week allowance is just excessive. It's no wonder that Shinji had the funds to afford going to restaurants all the time. You suppose that's the benefit of the family fortune being managed by somebody with a shred of competence at investment. Illyasviel has the support of the Einzbern behind her, and the functionally infinite funds they possess. Then there's Shirou, who must've been left... or rather will be left a rather sizable inheritance by his father, no doubt gained from his deeds as the Magus Killer. And then there's Rin. Rin, who for her primary form of magecraft, needs to waste precious gems. Rin, who's estate is managed by a man who mismanages it on purpose just to see her suffer. Rin, who is effectively penniless despite the Tohsaka being such a prominent family before her.

But mocking Rin for her lack of financial success can come later, if you decide to make fun of her in the first place. It's not exactly a good way to make an ally, and Rin has cause enough to dislike you already, just for being a Matou. You hope that the girl doesn't get any fanciful ideas about blaming you for 'stealing' Sakura from her, otherwise you might not be able to resist putting her in her place.

Sakura remains quiet for a moment as she seems to parse your suggestion to leave the mansion and go out on the town. Really, you'd never even think of doing something so dangerous if it weren't for Sakura's situation. Going out alone without adult supervision in a town like Fuyuki? You're just grateful that the local serial killer was recently shot through the chest. "Is it... really OK for us to leave the mansion?" She's still pretty clearly riddled with doubt about all this but doesn't object to you simply nodding and taking hold of one of her hands to lead her downstairs. You practically run through the front doors of the mansion to get back onto the street. At least you've managed to avoid meeting with Zouken for now. You'd really like to keep your interactions with the old worm as few as possible.

Quickly, you lead Sakura out of the house and into the streets beyond. The poor purple haired girl is clutching your hand for the entire time the two of you run out of the sinister Matou residence. Eventually though, the two of you have to stop running to catch your breath, the bodies of prepubescent children, as it turns out, aren't really all too suited for such bursts of exertion. Sakura looks incredibly confused by the whole situation, but not as terribly sad as she was before. That's an improvement, at least. Of course, you might know the general layout of Fuyuki city, but that doesn't mean you know the exact path you need to take to get to Verde. Eventually stumbling upon a visitor information board with some instructions on how to get to the high-class shopping center.
>>
After some wandering, you finally manage to find your way to the large building contain all manner of shops. Though if Sakura is impressed by the buildings rather extravagant appearance, she's not exactly showing it. Still, her hand hasn't once stopped clutching hold of your own, even through all the aimless wandering you went through before reaching this place. Hopefully, that's some sign of progress towards her trusting you, and not just her hand clamping to your own in fear of what might happen to the two of you when you get back. The two of you are really lucky that you don't end up running into any concerned citizens worried about the two young siblings wandering the roads without guardians.

You walk past a multitude of stores, including a large toy store selling all sorts of expensive looking plush animals. You can also spot a rather familiar looking range of lion plushies. You know a certain king that would love receiving one of those. Best to leave that to Shirou though, as long as nothing ends up interrupting their blossoming relationship, the two ought to naturally fall in love with each other. That's one of the few things you don't feel the need to tamper with... well, you might try and see if you can get Saber to stick around after the end of the Fifth War. Maybe you ought to buy Sakura something?

There's some form of arcade close to the toy shop, but you don't know if Sakura will even like videogames, though you suppose you can try to win her something from the crane game, while the majority of the prizes you can see pale in comparison to those stocked next door, there's also apparently a chance to win a giant black cat plushie, but it requires you pick up a special key with the claw that looks much more difficult to extract from the machine than one of the plush toys.

A few shops away from the arcade is a fancy teashop. Highly praised for its expensive afternoon services and a fairly common place to find some of Fuyuki's more well off citizens. Shinji has a few spotty memories of wandering about Verde but they aren't very helpful for figuring out where to go with your sister.

The last shop that really holds any interest to you is an Italian restaurant tucked away into a corner of Verde. You suppose you could treat Sakura to some food that she wouldn't need to worry about Zouken having poisoned like some sort of mustache twirling cartoon character. You've got just over 60000 Yen on you, not a small sum at all.

Kirei could probably very easily at least manage the estate to a point where it wouldn't lose money and would retain it's value.
He's not that much of an idiot, and we know he loves making Rin suffer. He could very easily have managed the Tohsaka estate in a sensible way that would retain the profitable ventures instead of losing everything. While he's certainly no expert of management, it even says in the Fate/Zero materials
>Then again, as a priest who values honest poverty, he probably thought it would be good for her from an educational standpoint.
About Kirei running the Tohsaka's assets into the ground.
The Tohsaka were incredibly rich before Kotomine ruined everything.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I recall she needs to put something like a year's worth of magical energy into each of those gemstones in order to make them that powerful, and in F/SN she's already filled up as many as she had the energy for. Just giving her more gems wouldn't make her more powerful unless we also give her more magic circuits to charge them with.

I've been thinking about this.
It's true that Illya's obsession with Shirou is what allowed him to make the initial connection with her, but it seems to me that what really strengthened the bond between them in the Fate and Heaven's Feel routes, and would've been core to the unreleased Illyasviel route, isn't that initial obsession but the way he treated her. Illya never had any real familial treatment from anyone until meeting Shirou. She was treated like a tool by Acht, like a master by her maids, and although she definitely had a personal bond with Berserker it was very different from the bond she formed with Shirou. My point is, I have the impression she's starved for affection and human contact. If we can find some way to speak with her out of the context of battle, I think we should be able to take some leaves out of Shirou's book, steal a march on him, and make that same kind of bond with her despite being an interested third party rather than her 'brother'.

You decide to go to the restaurant first, while you aren't that hungry yourself, if you are remembering things properly, then Sakura's own food will have been purposely made unpalatable, or even poisonous food. Of course this would all be on Zouken's orders too, the evil old worm must really take some sort of sadistic pleasure in causing suffering, and Zouken doesn't even have Kotomine's excuse of being born a psychopath! Zolgen Makiri once had a noble goal of creating a utopia, to the point where he was even on good terms with people like Paracelcus, but his pursuit of that goal has turned the once noble hearted magus into a husk of a man using his magecraft to live long past the time he ought to have died in the attempt to eventually see that one day the sacrifice to create the holy grail wasn't in vain. That is to say, the sacrifice of Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern, the head of the Einzbern of two centuries ago and the core of the Greater Grail.

Still, there's no point in feeling bad for Zouken for the man he used to be. Zolgen Makiri is gone, and in his place is a monster. Honestly, it probably would've been easier to have just become a Dead Apostle, but whatever. Guess Zouken thought that becoming worms would be more effective? You aren't about to pretend to know what went through his, or indeed, Nasu's head when he decided to make that particular choice. Guess he was just bored of writing about vampires after finishing Tsukihime.

You lead Sakura into the restaurant, and after some trouble explaining to the staff that you're actually much older than you look through a combination of eloquent speech and a made-up medical condition, you are allowed a table inside. You quickly decide on something to eat for yourself, and order a small pepperoni pizza for yourself. Sakura is unfortunately acting rather unresponsive despite the prospect of being able to choose anything she likes from the menu, so you eventually have no choice but to order her a Margherita pizza. It's not exactly an exciting meal, like, at all. But you don't really know what Sakura would actually enjoy from the menu, and you can't expect her to order for herself as she currently is.

Eventually, your orders are served to you. The quality is adequate what you're used to, but could probably do with a little less mozzarella. Though as much as you would like to critique your own food, what the purple haired girl sitting across from you is thinking is far more important right now.

Thankfully, she's at least eating the food, but there's no real indication of enjoyment on her face. Though you can see a faint expression of perhaps gratitude towards you for the food? Still, it's not enough. You aren't satisfied with merely making her slightly grateful. You'll get Sakura to smile, no matter the cost.
>>
After paying the staff and leaving the restaurant, you wander about inside the shopping center for a while, before eventually settling on visiting the arcade. You may as well give winning that giant cat plushy a try. Hopefully you'll be able to win it and give it to Sakura as a gift. If you're lucky, then it will cause her to cheer up, if only just a little.

Strolling into the arcade with Sakura holding your hand once again, you walk up to the large crane game in the center of the arcade. Clearly this thing is meant to be some sort of attraction, considering just how much attention it seems to be able to draw. Luckily, nobody is using the machine right now, so it's your opportunity to try to win that giant plushy. Without any further hesitation, you insert a hundred yen coin into the machine in exchange for three attempts to grab a prize. You go for the key on every single attempt and end up failing terrificly.

Nevermind, you'll just have another go. In your past life, you considered yourself something of an expert with these machines, so all you need to do is get the claw in the right place and the key will be yours. Inserting another coin inside the machine, you have another attempt at winning the giant plushy. Only to be met with three more failures. You aren't about to give up though, you'll win that damn plushy, and no damn crane game is going to stop you!

Almost two hours have now passed since your declaration of war on the machine, and you have spent the best part of 30000 yen on trying to win the damn plush toy. Your hands are starting to ache from constantly operating the joystick, and something of an audience has actually formed around you as interested bystanders watch the young boy spend so much time and money trying to win a single prize. Eventually, Sakura tugs on your arm, her expression looking a little concerned. "Ni-san, you've... you've been at this for a while now..."

Though, just as Sakura tugs on your arm to get your attention, you stop paying attention to the crane which you had just positioned right above the key. Turning to face your sister, you can't really think of anything to say. "I... I must've just gotten carried away with myself. Sorry Sakura, I really wanted to win that prize..." You suppose that you probably ought to get going now anyway. After so many failed attempts and so much time wasted trying to get they key, actually continuing now would be something of a sunk cost fallacy.

Just as you turn to leave however, you notice that the small crowd that appeared around you have all begun to... clap? You turn back to the machine to see the key grasped firmly in the grip of the claw hand before it is released into the prize compartment. Needless to say, both you and Sakura are left without words. Sakura has a very complicated expression on her face however, so it would probably be best not to say anything to her at this moment.

Without any more waiting, you quickly retrieve the giant novelty key from the prize drawer. Only to have the giant cat plush toy almost thrown at you the second you pick the key up. The owner of the arcade congratulates you on your victory, despite how much actually achieving it cost you or how long you took in achieving it. Thank goodness that the Matou are so rich.

You thank the man politely for the plush toy before turning back to Sakura and holding the large plush out to her. It's actually almost the size she is, yet she still takes it from you. "Here, Sakura. I won it for you." You smile at your sister as her complicated expression grows yet more conflicted. She actually opens her mouth to try to respond to that, but quickly closes it upon realizing she has no idea what to say.

You take Sakura's hand once again, intending to leave the arcade until you spot somebody out of the corner of your eye playing on an arcade cabinet for Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It's a teenager wearing clothing that is just a little too formal to be normal for an arcade, and he's clearly frustrated with the game, even though he does seem to be somewhat enjoying himself. Yes, the teenager playing on the arcade machine is none other than Waver Velvet. The only master from the Fourth Grail War who actually survives past the end of the Fifth War. It seems that for whatever reason, the teen has yet to return to London and the Clocktower.

Gonna do a combo write in. What we do is go over and ask him if he wants some tips and help him out. Once he gets a handle on it, we ask if he wants to see something cool and bust out the Akuma Code.
Also, ask him when nobody is listening if he's a mage and introduce ourselves as Shinji Matou.

Support. You can still have fun with Sakura if you play Waver in Street Fighter so that's good, Waver is very intuitive so he'll catch on when he realizes that spoiler you told him was right on the money, and he will listen to Shinji, he's a Matou and Waver is gonna want connections wherever he can find them
>>

Do you really want to lead in with that sort of thing? Why not get to know him in a normal way for a while before starting up with the fuckery of sharing our foreknowledge? I may be starting at shadows, but I really do feel that giving anyone else a sign of our knowing the future will have major negative consequences for us.
>>
>>4325655
You are about to play street fighter with him, after the game is done you can drop something like "oh yeah, i hear the next street fighter is gonna have (insert extremely specific spoiler here)" and Waver might just write it off as an 8 year old with a wild imagination only for him to be exactly right, Shinji being a Matou will only increase his curiosity
>>
>>4325655
Sharing knowledge of future games can be played off as "Dude, the rumor has been going around all the arcades lately."
It's not like we're telling him "You will be known as Lord El-Melloi II and will find a descendant of King Arthur named Gray who will become your apprentice."
It's more "Hey man, did you know there's a new version of street fighter coming out with a completely new roster of characters and multiple special move styles."
>>
>>4325660
>>4325661
Well then, FYI, if we're going for the rumor angle it'd be best to share stuff about Alpha. There were 3 Street Fighter games released between the last version of SF2 and the first version of SF3. SFA, SFA2, and SFA3. They were called Zero, Zero 2, and Zero 3 in JPN though, I think.
>>
>>4325668
Alpha would probably be better, the problem is Alpha has most likely already been covered in a gaming magazine. EGM, Gamepro and Famitsu all exist at this time.
>>
>>4325655
We can casually speak and play with him right now and pull your well known my-dog-works-at-nintendo shit but with actual real spoilers. Waver is pretty useless right now but in some years laters as Lord El-Melloi II, who enjoy playing video games and has keen memories, it will struck him that we told him information that no person could have known back in those days. He will naturally seek us out.
And by that time we will have a clear picture of that to do with fifth war and on top of that he will have money and connections we might need.
And there is no way somebody else will pick on just that we did.
>>
>>4325679
I mean, I'm hoping he'll stick around in Fuyuki for awhile and become a hangout buddy for us. He's a good potential escape from Fuyuki and could help us alot with magic shit.

So does anyone have any thoughts on the plan I posted at >>4325428 for trying to make a connection with Illya by appealing to emotion and interacting with her on non-grail war-related matters? Any ideas on how to make contact with her in the first place? (Ideas that don't involve the kaleidostick, that is).
>>
>>4325764
you need to break into the Einzbern Castle before she summons Berserker, the earlier the better

I sure hope we get a different chance from that, because I want no part of it. I'm content to wait for an opportunity to act once she's come to Fuyuki for the war. Interfering in her life before that could cause irrevocable changes to her personality as well as the timeline. Plus, we'd probably get killed in the attempt.
>>
>>4325785
>Plus, we'd probably get killed in the attempt
Anon, there's a better chance that she kills us when she comes to Fuyuki for the war
>>
>>4325785
>irrevocable changes to her personality as well as the timeline.
I mean, if she's less of a dick, that's good and again, stop worrying about not changing the timeline.
The canon rails are not something we want to stick to, especially if we want a best end.
>>
>>4325788
I don't think staying in Fuyuki and preparing for the war leads to us being more likely to die than running off to Europe half-cocked, especially when the latter mission is supposed to be in the company of Kiritsugu. Nothing good can come of healing that guy.

>>4325790
You and I have very different ideas about what parts of Illya's character are endearing, and since we've had that argument already I'm not going to fight it with you again. Suffice it to say I'd like to see her as she was in F/SN.
>>
>>4325798
>Suffice it to say I'd like to see her as she was in F/SN.
I mean, if we want to change her fate you won't get to see her as she was in F/SN. The further along canon rails we go, the more likely she'll bad end.
>>
I wonder if you could keep Illya alive past her expiration date by transplanting Avalon from Shirou into her, provided you also used something like UBW Good to keep Saber around after the war.
>>
>>4325823
we can do some Grail and Medea fuckery to heal her up too
>>
>>4325831
Unless we manage to summon a straight up powerful Caster ourselves. Then we don't even need to get involved with Medea.
>>
>>4325836
I do not wanna summon someone outside of the FSN, everything is gonna get wonky and crazy so fucking fast if we do
>>
Should we try to work a quote from Alexander into conversation to mess with Waver? See what effect it has on him?
>>
>>4325843
If Shinji summons at all, we may have to expect that possibility.

>>4325847
I'm up for it. Though we're a Matou, we might actually have an excuse for just straight up going "Oh, Rider's master."
Not sure how secret Grail Wars are kept from participating families.
>>
>>4325849
I meant just like "unknowingly" saying things the real Alexander said in his early years. Maybe we could plant some kind of weird seed of loyalty in Waver by resembling his king.

>>4325809
Maybe if we saved her just like a year or 2 before the GW, so Kiritsugu's died already and we're not pulling her out of the Einzbern castle while she's still an actual child, but we're still setting us up as her savior and keeping her from using Berserker to kill us in the war. Best of both worlds I think. Very hard to do the rescue though.
>>
>>4325860
Us assaulting the Einzbern estate is dependent on how far we come along in developing our Reality Marble, and working on our circuits.
Without it we'd actually be useless during the attempt.
>>
>>4325860
>Very hard to do the rescue though.
This is why I think we need Kerry, honestly. Without him, it'd probably be impossible. We do need him to actually teach Shirou proper magecraft too.
Can you imagine a Shirou with Time Alter and UBW?
>>
My thinking is that if we want her to fall for us we want to take the Shirou position of being the first person to treat her like a normal girl. So the worst case scenario is saving her as a child and giving her to Kiri. Then he gets that affection as her father. 2nd worst case scenario is saving her as a child and taking care of her ourself somehow, because then we might end up in the Acht position of the isolator and she falls for Shirou. So we need to rescue her after childhood.
If she's 18 in 2004, that means we can't save her any earlier than 2002 and still have her as a romance option, I think. That waiting strategy also gives us as much time as possible to develop All-Fiction, or whatever our Marble ends up being called, and to learn wibbly wobbly punches from the schoolteacher.
>>
>>4325865
Holy shit Shriou would be OP let’s do this. Also we want waver on our side ASAP
>>
>>4322195
So I decided it would be fun to see just what characters have had the most mentions by name in the thread so far, this includes my posts, so obviously some characters will have their placing massively bolstered by mentions of their name in the text of the story. I just thought this would be an interesting thing to do.

Sakura 137 (First Place)
Shinji 83 (Second Place)
Monica 76 (Third Place)
Zouken 61 (Fourth Place)
Shirou 58 (Fifth Place)
Illya 56 (Sixth Place)
Rin 34 (Seventh Place)
Waver 32 (Eighth Place)
Kiritsugu 30 (Ninth Place)
Kirei 26 (Tenth Place)
Saber 11 (Eleventh Place)
Medea 8 (Twelth Place)

Fairly interesting results, I feel.
As a Bonus, the term 'Reality Marble' has been mentioned 49 times.

What a weird ad hominem to take from that. Fathers are fine, it's Kiri I have a problem with. Dude is a terrible character and would be an awful parent. His determinator BS already ruined Fate Zero. I just don't want to give him the chance to fuck Shirou up any more than he already has or ruin this story.
Also I already pointed out how he's a huge roadblock to us getting an Illya route.
Nasu already wrote him out of HGW5 perfectly well. Let's just let him go so we don't have to deal with his crap.
>>
>>4326049
But muh fanfics!
>>
>>4326049
how would Kiri be a roadblock for Illya route? If anything, he's the path for it
>>
>>4326074
Like I said, I explained it earlier. At >>4325869. Illya falls for Shirou because he's the first person to give her real human warmth and kindness after the castle. Her obsession with him from before the war just gives them the excuse to meet, it's not why she gets infatuated. If we rescue her and give her to Kiri, that potential for infatuation evaporates because she'll have a family outside the Einzbern. We need to manage the thing very carefully if we want her to fall for us. We need to get her to see us as that "first human who cares" character, and in order to set that route up she needs to be at the castle at least until she's 16. That's why I said the best thing to do would be save her after Kiri's dead, so we can also add on the point of being her rescuer, but meeting her during the War could work too as long as we can do it before Shirou.
>>
>>4326095
It just kinda seems like she'll live a more normal life and she'll be more accepting of Shinji if he actually had a hand in her rescue and he's actually around her a lot instead of chancing it and having to deal with a psychotic Illya who automatically sees Shinji as an enemy
>>
>>4326109
But that's my point. Her living a more normal life dissipates the potential romantic energy that builds up before the War in canon. It destroys the possibility of taking over the Illya route that Shirou had the opportunity for.
>>
Also, again, Kiri would be a horrible single dad. He is really not a guy suited to fatherhood. I actually trust Illya more with Acht and I don't even want to think about how Shirou would turn out with a living Kiri.
>>
>>4326119
Yeah I'm just gonna have to disagree with you there, I mean, I don't even wanna go Illya route if it means I can't get Sakura or Rin but if I were to go about it, I absolutely wouldn't chance it with HGW Illya

Why? Are we summoning Enkidu or something?

I wouldn't be opposed to summoning claybae. It'd be the easiest way to get Gil on our side.
>>
>>4326322
yeah but we have to deal with Ishtar's bullshit if we do
>>
>>4326324
That's why we set up the anti-ishtar devices. Duh.

we are summoning teddy roosevelt didnt you see his speech earlier

Too young to be in the throne.

We can talk about summoning someone big all we want actually getting a catalyst is another matter. Enkidu would be just as hard to summon as gilgamesh
>>
>>4326342
we shall summon Thomas Edison to get all presidents
>>
>>4326347
I wonder if we could just use a lump of clay shaped like a waifu/husbando
>>
>>4326322
Anon, when it comes to Enkidu Gil's a bit yan. He tried to murder Richard when he joked around about Enkidu after he and Ayaka run into them. Gil'll either kill us on the spot, drain us of all our Mana when the 2 of them fight or we'll just be glassed in the middle of their Enuma Elish's.

Waver... is really awful at videogames, isn't he? Of course he would be, he might end up enjoying them, but he can't have been playing videogames for more than a few days, honestly, and this is probably one of his first times actually playing Street Fighter or probably a fighting game at all. Beating a magus at Street Fighter II isn't exactly going to be one of your greatest accomplishments in your life, but it'll provide a good way to actually introduce yourself to the future Lord El-Melloi II

"Hey, Mister." You call out to the teenager as he manages to lose to a computer controlled Zangief. He turns to face the child calling out to him, he doesn't even have to look down very far to meet your gaze thanks to being so incredibly short. At least he'll have a really huge growth spurt in the next few years. Still, you do your best to put on the disarming child charm you've currently got going. "Would you mind if we played a round?"

"What do you mean?" Waver questions you on your suggestion before taking a stern voice with you. "I'm using this cabinet right now, and I intend to win this game before I move on. I'm afraid you'll have to wait until I'm done." Yeah, sure. You don't even know the input for a hadouken and nearly got perfected by Zangief, Waver. You aren't getting anywhere close to beating the game by just hopelessly button-mashing. Well, not without a major amount of luck, at least.

You had probably correct the magus about something however, he might be somewhat embracing the merits of technological entertainment, but he's only just breaking out of his shell "N-no, mister. I mean the game is multiplayer. It can be played by two people at once. I was challenging you to see if you could win against me."

Waver looks at you, and then to the second player control, and then back to you. "Oh. Right. That makes a lot of sense actually. I was wondering if that other controller was supposed to do anything. I suppose it being playable by two people at once would make a lot of sense" He looks a little flustered by what you can only assume was him doing something foolish with the second controller prior to your arrival. "But... are you sure you want to play against an adult, kid? I'm not going to let you win." It's amazing that despite everything, he still seems to have some sort of confidence in his own ability to play. Where does that stem from, exactly?

"Oh, don't worry about me mister. I'm actually undefeated at this game." While it's not strictly true, at least Shinji has never lost a match of Street Fighter. Granted, he's never actually played it either, but that hardly matters. You remember enough about the game that demolishing Waver would be a simple matter. In fact, you would probably actually have to try to lose to the videogame newbie.
>>
You end up picking Guile while Waver goes for Cammy. He maintains a somewhat confident smirk on his face all the way up until the point that you completely demolish him without even allowing him to land a hit. "Perfect!" The arcade cabinet cries in celebration of your flawless victory. The confident smirk on Waver's face is replaced by a look of extreme concentration in the second round, only for you to defeat him in under twenty seconds this time. Once again, the cry of "Perfect!" signifying your complete domination at the game.

"You're... You're pretty good, kid." Waver begrudgingly admits upon being completely embarrassed by somebody eleven years his junior. He looks completely baffled at how quickly he lost to you. You don't really want to brag, but you once got pretty far in a Street Fighter tournament yourself, so beating somebody like Waver was like taking candy from a baby. You look back at Sakura to see her hugging the plush cat you got her while she observes you make quick work of the older magus. Who for a moment looks like he's going to get mad before he takes a deep breath. "Would you... Would you mind telling me how you did half of that stuff?" Unexpectedly, Waver asks you for assistance in playing the game better.

"Of course, it's really quite simple to pull off most of what I did when you know how. First off, you'll need to actually know the basic controls..." You end up explaining the mechanics of the game to Waver for a good twenty minutes, the young magus clearly registering everything you tell him about the game to try to improve his own skill at playing.

As you finish up your explanation to Waver about the game, giving him really just a rundown that will allow him to not get completely stomped by just about anybody on the planet, he thanks you. "You've been a great help at teaching me how to play, but I would really like to know the name of the person who's teaching me to play. I'm Waver Mackenzie." The teenager gives you an uncertain smile as he gives you his fake last name.

"Oh me? I'm Shinji Matou." You see the teenagers eyes narrow just slightly upon the revelation of your family name. "I know a lot about games you see, in fact. I even got some... secret information about a few games that are gonna be released soon." You decide it might be somewhat amusing to mess with the man just a little.

"Secret... information?" Waver doesn't sound convinced by your declaration. But he does seem to be humoring your claim, at least.
>>
"Yeah! About Street Fighter Three! It's gonna be called New Generation, and there's gonna be and all new cast of fighters! Like Ibuki! Or Sean! Oh! And the final boss is this really strong blonde haired guy called Gill!" Oops. Waver freezes up at that for a seconds, before giving you a very strained smile. His eyes are darting about the arcade as if looking for somebody come to finish off the Master of Rider. After a moment, he appears to calm down a little. "W-what's the matter, mister? Are you ok?"

"Ah... my apologies, Matou-san. I just got reminded of something stressful that happened to me recently is all." He frowns, obviously remembering the death of Iskandar at the hands of Gilgamesh. That was a misstep you probably ought to have avoided, but still. Too late now. "W-well I also know about some other games. Like... the... the best game ever made comes out next year!" Waver raises an eyebrow at that one. "It's called Chrono Trigger! It's gonna be really great!" Waver just looks confused of what to him must appear to just be childish optimism about an as yet unreleased game.

Unexpectedly, before you can say anything else to Waver, a small hand intertwines with your own, Sakura deciding to hold your hand of her own accord, giving you a very very faint smile as you turn to face her. "Onii-chan, we... we ought to be getting back now. It's getting late, and... Grandfather might get upset." Despite Sakura's small and slightly sad smile, you can't help but feel a little crushed about not being able to do more for the girl. Though based on her change of honorific, it appears that she does actually like you a little after today. That's... something of a relief, at least. Still, you wish you could do more.

"Oh. I see." You speak calmly despite the roiling tempest of emotions within you. "Well, I suppose this is farewell for now, Mackenzie-san." You bid farewell to Waver as you lead Sakura away and back home. She's hugging the giant black plush toy with one arm, and holding your hand with her other. She probably doesn't want to return to the mansion, but she's looking a little more determined now than she was when you first met her. In some way, that's at least a minor victory over Zouken.

Yet it's a victory that can easily be used against you if Zouken does end up deciding you are an obstacle to his plans. You just hope that by the time that comes, you'll have gotten a plan together allowing you to kill him for good as well as rescue Sakura from his foul clutches.
>>
>>4326342
whats the minimum? He's totally on the throne
>>
You eventually get back to the Matou mansion as a summer night begins to fall, stepping into the large and empty home, you're half expecting Byakuya or Zouken to be at the door to greet the two of you. Instead, Sakura simply carefully places the cat plush down next to the door, and walks off towards the basement. You grit your teeth as she walks away from you. This evil cannot be allowed to go unpunished. No suffering is too great for Zouken's crimes. You... you want to make sure that he dies in pain. Suffering just as he has caused Sakura to suffer.

Shaking your head to try to dispel the thoughts of violently murdering your ancestor, you head upstairs to bed. The one problem you've really discovered with such a young body is that you tend to get tired far easier than an adult would, and you're already about ready for bed. While you would like to try to read a few of the Matou tomes and grimoires, you just don't have the energy left in your small body.

You basically just climb into bed and close your eyes, trying not to think of the horrors going on down below and failing quite terribly. Eventually, you manage to drift off, the only thing aiding you in your sleep is that eventually, you'll be able to fix all of this, and put a stop to the meaningless suffering Sakura is being put through. Zouken genuinely doesn't even remember what he set out to do.

As you fall asleep though, you find yourself having an incredibly strange dream, within the dream...

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO. Anyway, I think one year is good enough, it'll give us enough time for Shirou to get accommodated with his new life and for Rin to mourn and get used to Kirei
>>
wait, when did Shirou do the high jump thing?

It was in middle school, so it's more than 2 years in the future right now.

wait when did Kerry die, I feel like we need to know that before we timeskip
>>
>>4326404
wait figured it out, it was in 5 years before the 5th HGW so in 1999. So if we timeskip, we have like 3 years to try and save Kiritsugu if thats our goal
>>
>>4326407
And of course it isn't.

I change my vote to
>Timeskip two years
It'll be good for Waver to stew in those predictions we gave him and nothing major will change in 2 years, so its better age up and let Shirou and Rin get used to their new life before we seek them out
>>
>>4326410
well at the very least we should actually get Kiritsugu to train Shirou (and also promise him that we'll save Illya cause goddammit he deserves that at least)
>>
>>4326420
See >>4326030. I don't think it's wise to have Kiri train Shirou. I'm willing to compromise though, and meet you that far if we're not saving him and any attempt to rescue Illya is done by us alone.

>>4326431
Yeah I don't know how good of an idea it is to just let Shirou do whatever until the HGW, we can't just bank on us alone being able to do everything, even if it costs Shirou UBW, having him learn to be a proper Mage lets Saber actually fight like normal and honestly i'm not even 100% on saving Kiritsugu, it feels like if we go through with that, we're gonna end up turning his house into an orphanage
>>
>>4326442
>we're gonna end up turning his house into an orphanage
I'm fine with that. It already houses every random vagrant they come across in side stories and shit. Just set up some anti-ishtar devices and we're golden.

I thought UBW came from Avalon being in him didn really have to do with him not learning much

Doesn't Miyu's Shirou still have it in Prisma Illya, even though he was properly trained in magecraft? That suggests he should still get it, even if he doesn't retard into it. He uses projection still too.
>>
>>4326469
I feel like saving Kiritsugu is gonna come up soon and I still have no idea what to do, morally speaking though, its the right thing to do and I wanna run as a morally virtuous Shinji so that's what I gotta go for. I'm fully on "saving Kiritsugu" right now until convinced otherwise

>>4326473
yeah its just slightly different in that its snowing instead of a wasteland
>>
>>4326483
We have to save Kerry and groom Illya and love taiga
>>
>>4326483
You've got my support. Honestly, I don't mind trying to waifu Illya, but I don't want it to come from manipulation. That feels more like canon Shinji shit.
Let's give her a good family.
>>
So the worst character in Zero worms his way into survival because it's "the right thing to do". Damn, that blows. I gotta hope there are some people who see it my way when it comes to the voting.
>>
anyone have any guesses about what the dreams could mean though? the first choice is obvious but two and three are peaking my interest
>>
>>4326520
well his survival is very tenuous if that makes you feel better, Gray, Rhongomyniad and Waver being able to jumpstart Avalon enough to heal Kerry is still wishful thinking at the moment.
>>
>>4326503
It's just consciously playing on the same situation Shirou played on unconsciously. That's just standard VN capture planning. Canon Shinji was a rapist. I'd say there's a pretty fucking huge difference there.

>>4326542
Point.
>>
>>4326520
Nah Kerry is based.
>>
>>4326523
I think two is an amalgamation of fictional characters (You) has knowledge of.
And 3 is writing parts of the story, instead of deleting them.

Anyone have any other ideas?
>>
>>4326523
>>4326549
Destruction, Transformation and Creation?

>>4326544
>It's just consciously manipulating an abused and damaged girl starved for positive attention to love us.
>>
>>4326554
Like I said. Same thing Shirou did, but intentionally. Standard capture target planning for someone who plays VNs, and we know the isekai'd person did.
>>
>>4326554
yeah then I feel like first choice is to go, All Fiction as /a/ envisioned it was pretty fucking hax but that drawback really bad it something special
>>
>>4326560
Could you explain the drawback?
>>
File: 7087746-lort.jpg (162 KB, 600x750)

>>4326560
I don't know, man. If the second is actually transformation and it worked on other things, just imagine what we could do with it. We could get a waifu better then Illya.
>>
>>4326567
Well the drawback and the power itself are interlinked, you can erase everything because to (You) Fate/Stay Night is fictional, but by accepting the reality that none of it is real, you also let in the idea that your quest doesn't matter. So it doesn't actually matter that you're trying to save Sakura and Illya or that you care for Shirou and Rin, they aren't real.
>>
>>4326523
I think the first one is standard All-Fiction deletion.
I think the second one allows the user to transform all or parts of himself into fictional characters.
I think the third one summons living things out of fiction. If it were just general creation, I don't think it'd stress the living aspect so much in the dream description.
>>
can we at least agree that we're going through with the Dragon Blood plan?
>>
>>4326574
I don't really think that would be the case though.
The guy obviously cared about them before when they were just in a fictional universe he could only watch, and now he can interact with them first hand.
>>
>>4326583
What plan is that?
>>
>>4326596
the one where we get Medea to summon her dragon, EMIYA to kill it with anti-dragon NPs and we bathe in the blood to get a power up
>>
>>4326601
I thought Medea couldn't summon her dragon unless she was summoned as a Rider.
>>
>>4326451
Avalon did affect him by warping his Origin to Sword, but UBW is created through Shirou, or rather EMIYA's way of life. The moment you try to fuck around with his backstory like "hey let's save kerry" or "hey let's make him able to use magecraft" is the moment you alter his way of life to the point where he might not even be able to use UBW like HF Shirou.

Anyway, on the topic of Servant, there is one servant that is definitely able to destroy Zouken easily, be able to remove the crestworms from Sakura, have interest to help preserve Illya's life, put the HGW ritual to a stop, and probably wipe the floor with any combatant short of Gil in 5th HGW that Shinji should be able to summon due to strong personal connection.

Summon the Archmagus Makiri Zolgen in his prime as Caster, and let him figure out how to deal with this shitstorm.
>>
>>4326609
she can, she just can't control it, which is why ya gotta kill it
>>
>>4326612
Miyu's Shirou suggests he will still get it even if he's got a family and is a proper mage. Since we don't know what WhatIs is pulling from as "canon" to the quest either, we need to refrain from saying "Things MUST happen like this for UBW."
>>
So hey, guys. What would you think about summoning Ruler Arthur Bernhard
>>
>>4326625
Miyuverse Shirou is also a standard fanfic Shirou wank, we already know from HF that wanting to save one person over the world makes it so that Shirou is no longer compatible with UBW

Then again, I no longer know what is hard canon now with the fate series being the garbage trainwreck of fanfiction writers making nasu all the money
>>
>>4326652
It made Shirou incompatible with Archer's UBW.
He could develop his own and be perfectly fine.
>>
>>4326652
>wanting to save one person over the world makes it so that Shirou is no longer compatible with UBW
Wasn't that Archer's UBW, because he no longer had the same mindset as Archer?
Shirou could still develop his own. If his life is different, UBW might have subtle changes to represent that, like Miyu's Shirou's UBW being a snowfield, though.
>>
>>4326372

>>4326372
>...A seed born of nothing sprouts into a sprawling forest, crawling with life.

this as well
>>
>>4326416
alright, changing it one more time to
>Timeskip half a year
My bad but our previous discussions have made me realize that we can't set around and let Kerry die just like that, time is a factor and the sooner we get comfortable with the Emiya household, the better our odds are at saving and allying with Kerry
>>
>>4326660
Yeah, EMIYA developed UBW nearing the end of his life after contracting with Alaya. The only way to get UBW up and running anywhere near the future is by downloading EMIYA's UBW through the soul resonance, which is no bueno if this Shirou is set to run a different OS entirely, hell even Miyuverse Shirou only has that because of him mainlining EMIYA off the card
>>
>>4326699
okay so we get Shirou to train early so UBW develops earlier, also what sort of major changes could happen to Shirou that would prevent UBW? Like, we'd straight up need to constantly probe him about his hero mentality to get him to question it and change
>>
>>4326709
UBW is like a culmination of EMIYA's lifetime worth of experience, it's not something that he could dabble as a teenager and expect to have a working form of it. Like the only reason Shirou become functional in Fate is literally because he unconsciously downloading EMIYA's memories and skill from the resonance

Oooooh FAAAAAK!

Should have done what I did with the other Fates quest Bless your heart Sweets I know your loli lovin ass in here. and waited a thread or three before starting to read. Now I have to be in the thick of it with the autists. Jokes aside, I'm big excited to see were this shit goes. Been a pretty interesting read so far. Let's hope the success of Fates/City quest has broken the curse and this quest also lasts more than 3 threads.
>>
>>4326900
idk, this quest has been a long time coming so i am hopeful that it lasts, plus its got a lot of traction for 5 days
>>
>>4326905
We'll see how it goes.
For now, I'll hope for the best, but maintain an emotional distance in case of the worst.

Since I'm awake I do wonder if we'll have to do much fighting with Shinji's core personality at any point. In theory he makes up half of our personality, but so far besides a few things here and there it more feels like we've sorta usurped control and stolen info from him, rather than having properly fused. So I do wonder if we'd have to do anything like roll to force ourselves to do something extremely out of character for Shinji.
Probably not given we've been doing just that this whole time, but his presence, or lack there of, is always in the back of my mind and I wonder what the core personality would think of things. Like, he has enough presence to be offended at us calling him a punk bitch and we at times get glimpses at how he used to feel before the fusion, but what does the Shinji part of us really think about this whole situation? Is he simply resigned to his fate as a part of a bigger whole that's taken over his life or is there more to it?
I find that aspect of this set up particularly interesting.

So it looks like Timeskipping two years forward has won.
Alright, here's what we're going to do.
I'm going to list a few things you can get up to in the timeskip. I want you to pick 2 Major Focuses and 4 Minor Focuses from the following list

>Increase your skill at cooking to be more in-line with this world.
>Try to reinforce your magical knowledge through reading the Matou tomes.
>Start trying to use your knowledge to gain a vast amount of money
>Continue focusing on developing a potential reality marble
>Focus on finding a way to find out if you have any magic circuits, and getting them unlocked with Zouken realizing
>Attempt to properly befriend Waver over the timeskip.
>Begin physically training your body to the peak you can manage
>Attempt to start learning how to properly fight with your hands and body at a dojo.
>Try to pick up kendo or some other swordfighting style.
>Begin to practice archery.
>Write-in...

We'll then be rolling bo3 d100s to see how well you get on with each.

Oh, and the voting for the content of your dream is still open, it's a very important vote for your future.
>>

On closer inspection, it actually seems to be a tie between two years and half a year.
So we need somebody to break the tie.

If half a year wins, you'll instead only get three minor focuses.
>>
>>4327075
Major:
>Continue focusing on developing a potential reality marble
>Focus on finding a way to find out if you have any magic circuits, and getting them unlocked with Zouken realizing

Minor:
>Begin physically training your body to the peak you can manage
>Try to reinforce your magical knowledge through reading the Matou tomes.
>Attempt to start learning how to properly fight with your hands and body at a dojo.

Aquaint yourself with the Ryuudou temple so you are know well enough by old man Ryuudou and his kids. You'd be able to learn combat from the monks as well as be prepared for both Medea and Kuzuki later on as well as investigating the greater grail before anyone else
Minor
>Begin to practice archery
>Begin physically training your body to the peak you can manage
>Attempt to properly befriend Waver over the timeskip.

Dream vote
>...you are watching a world that seems to be dissolving away into nothingness

That only works with norse dragons, different types of dragons have different types of blood

It has to be the case given potential reality marble and fusion of souls.

Yeah. This is why I like it when quests don't have a formal "now the voting is closed" thing and the vote is open until the update is posted. It sucks not to be able to vote just because your schedule doesn't line up with the QM's.

>Reality Marble
>Magic Circuits
and then I'm going to need three sets of 4d70 for the minor focuses

You know, the more I think about Shirou, the more I think that he's a woman's dream guy. He's built, he's good looking, he can cook, he's friendly, he's autistically driven, he's self sacrificing and he's mentally broken. Is Nasu a woman?

>>
>>4327887

Therein lies the challenge of the quest. We need to take Shinji, canonically a wimpy asshole, and make him outshine even Shirou.
>>
>>4327966
No we just need to make him not die like in 2/3 routes and come out of the grail war for the better. Our goal is to mainly save Sakura
>>

>>
>>4327973
I’m the one going for a fuji romance here
>>
>>4327974
And here's another with no ambition. With all the opportunities in front of us, what is it that's making you limit your aspirations to saving Sakura and surviving? Don't you want to take the seat of protagonist? Don't you want to really capitalize on this whole isekai thing? Why go through the trouble of stepping into the story if you're only going to tweak it for the sake of self-preservation?
>>
>>4327977
My ambitions require magic anon, magic and friendship. I do not want to surpass Shirou, I want him to reach those heights with me. I also want Sakura and Rin and Medusa but that's kinda of later down the road but nevertheless.
>>
>>4327979
Seems we just don't see eye-to-eye, then. I can't believe you don't want to compete with Shirou. To my mind that's the main appeal of the Shinji isekai premise: take a loser character from canon and see if you can improve his situation until he can push aside the original protagonist and take that spot.
Oh well. I also don't particularly want Sakura, Rin, or Medusa and would be happy to leave them to Shirou provided we can build a life with Illya, so I guess that's that. No points of commonality.
>>
>>4327987
We most definitely don't see eye to eye, we can probably get through this quest without Shirou but i have no interest in trying. Shirou is gonna be my best bro and i'm gonna save him from dying alone in Syria, that comes before any romance or happy ending with Illya or anyone
>>
>>4327979
>>4327991
Fuck yeah, Justice Buddies.
>>
>>4327991
>dying alone in Syria
That doesn't even happen in the canon true ends, when Shinji's actively doing everything he can to screw Shirou over. I'm pretty sure Rin and Saber have a handle on saving that guy without our help. It's not like he's in Illya's situation, where he's doomed to die no matter what unless we make a major shift to events. In fact, about the only thing I can think of we could do to ruin his fate, aside from actually killing him, would be something that might prevent him from lining up with Archer during the main events of the HGW. Something like, say, saving Kerry's life and changing Shirou's mental development during childhood.
>>
>>4327993
>In fact, about the only thing I can think of we could do to ruin his fate, aside from actually killing him, would be something that might prevent him from lining up with Archer during the main events of the HGW. Something like, say, saving Kerry's life and changing Shirou's mental development during childhood.
Again, that would only change his ability to resonate and use EMIYA's UBW. His ability to use UBW is stemmed from his origin and elemental affinity both being "Sword."
>>
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to make Shirou our enemy or anything. I'd rather have our Shinji be friends with him than not. I just want to use our opportunities to improve our own significance such that he ends up a side character in Shinji's story, instead of Shinji being a side character in his.

>>4328000
Emiya's UBW is the only one he has a chance to use in the timeframe of the quest. If we wait for him to develop his own without the benefit of resonance, it'll take his entire lifetime. The only reason I could see for wanting to do that to the poor guy is if you'd like him to be totally dependent on us in the Grail War.
>>
>>4328003
>Emiya's UBW is the only one he has a chance to use in the timeframe of the quest.
YOU. DO. NOT. KNOW. THAT.
The only person who can say that is WhatIs and unless you're secretly him, then you're just as in the dark about what and how things are able to be achieved as we are.
Fuck, I'm going to bring up Miyu's Shirou AGAIN and before you sperg out about him mainlining Archer's Class Card, remember according to you his mindset and upbringing would have made him incompatible with Archer's UBW. Yet, he can still use it.
This is why if you look closely at the picture here >>4326473 he's using it without the Class Card Install. This is why it's a snowfield instead of Archer's wasteland. It is the UBW unique to THIS Shirou proving it's possible for him to develop it without the resonance from EMIYA, while having a completely different mindset and upbringing.
>>
>>4327987
Shirou is nice and deserves the world. Shinji could have avoided being fucked if he wasn’t an asshole. We will be friends and be cool together
>>
>>4328010
That is a different person from an alternate universe in which the whole world is in massively different circumstances. For all I know, the Miyuverse "Shirou" doesn't really share anything with this one but cosmetic similarities. A separate story set in an alternate universe by a different author has no bearing whatsoever on the Fate/Stay Night timeline, and there's really no point in your continuously bringing up Prisma Illya. It simply doesn't follow the established rules of magic in the Fate setting because it isn't in the established Fate setting.
>>
>>4328010
>without resonant with Emiya
>after EMIYA literally corrupted him and turning half his body into EMIYA lite

wew lad
>>
>>4328018
I'll reiterate what I said at >>4328003. I don't want to screw Shirou over. I just think 'surviving without hurting anyone' is a bit of an unambitious goal considering the opportunities we have; and saving Shirou is a non-action, since he saves himself without any help from Shinji in the original timeline.
>>
>>4328021
Excuses. Every time you just come up with new excuses to actually try and slither out of whatever proof is slapped in your face to maintain that only FS/N is relevant.
It doesn't matter that it's an alternate universe, all of fate exists in alternate timelines and universes. So many that everything is a fucking mess.
It's also an official licensed Fate property and recognized as part of Fate by other Fate shit, which means that it's as legitimate to use as a reference.
Also, again, since you seem to keep ignoring this. YOU. DO. NOT. KNOW. THIS. We don't know what WhatIs is pulling from, and what is viable or not. We have no idea. Saying that SOMETHING MUST HAPPEN THIS WAY TO HAPPEN is fucking retarded. Because we are in an alternate universe.
>>
>>4328034
Multiple people have explained to you why this is something to be concerned about, and you just keep getting angrier and insisting that the basic principles of a reality marble don't apply because of a spin-off. Calm down and think about that for a minute.
Anyway, why are you complaining about me supposedly maintaining that a certain thing must happen when you're maintaining Shirou absolutely must develop UBW and nothing can change that?
All I'm saying is, if you want to help him out the best way of ensuring that would be to not mess with his development since it worked extremely well for him in the original timeline. Saving Kiritsugu is rocking the boat, and rocking the boat with something as tenuous as developing a reality marble is very dangerous.
>>
>>4328034
Prerequisites will still exist even in alternate universes anon.
Even if Shriou developed UBW it would be empty without a download from EMIYA.
>>
>>4328040
You're not multiple people, bro. Despite what the voices tell you and I keep getting angry because you refuse to listen and try to keep insisting that you what the only way to achieve something.
And I never said Shirou must develop UBW. I said the potential is there for him to develop it without grabbing EMIYA's version. You're the one who's been claiming "NO HE ABSOLUTELY CANNOT USE IT WITHOUT EMIYA."
>if you want to help him out the best way of ensuring that would be to not mess with his development since it worked extremely well for him in the original timeline. Saving Kiritsugu is rocking the boat, and rocking the boat with something as tenuous as developing a reality marble is very dangerous.
Fuck you, and fuck your desire to stick to the canon rails.

Oh yeah, that's another thing. Good point. He needs to have seen a Noble Phantasm to replicate it within UBW. The only reason it's so full is because of Archer's massive experience as a Counter Guardian. A UBW developed from scratch by a teenage novice mage would be basically useless.
>>
You dream for the first time since you found yourself in this world sharing the body and memories of the young Matou tonight. You're floating in the void of space and watching a planet slowly begin to tear itself apart to avoid you as you get closer to it. You try to reach out and touch a piece, only for it to fade into nothingness when you actually touch it. The dream ends when you touch another piece of the crumbling planetoid, and the entire object just disappears from sight.

You feel strange after the dream, almost as if the dream had a far deeper meaning to you than it first felt. For whatever reason, when you actually wake up, you find your quilt on the floor and your bed messy and totally disorganized. Were you having some sort of nightmare or spasm in your sleep? This... doesn't exactly bode well.

Still, from today onwards, your new life truly begins. Going back to school is really quite bothersome, especially given that you're obviously more intelligent than the teacher is. Still, it's not like you don't take great pleasure in being called the star pupil and a genius beyond your years. It's true, you have started to consider yourself something of a genius, and you don't need to praise of some brainless elementary teachers to know that. It's still kind of nice to receive the recognition though.

So, the days pass by peacefully with you going to school and taking your sister out to places at any opportunity you get. Yet, that's not all that you get up to. It's really quite easy for you to get away with stuff that a normal eight year old would never think of doing. Between the complete lack of parenting and attention paid to you by either Zouken or Byakuya and the rather excessive wealth of the Matou family, you get away with quite a bit more than should really be possible for a child of your age.

You constantly take Sakura out of the house and away from her torment, and it has clearly started to have a pretty major effect on her disposition. After a few weeks of you treating her basically like she's some sort of princess, she gives you a truly genuine smile. Of course, you haven't told her you plan to save her just yet. You wouldn't want to spoil your relationship with her by revealing your knowledge of the torture she goes through every single night. At this point, you've got no actual way to save her, and you know that the entire dynamic of your relationship will be changed forever if it was revealed that you know what she's been going through. But you will save her. Even if you have to hide the truth from everyone. You aren't going to be satisfied until you make sure that everyone gets the ending that they deserve. No matter the cost.

Weeks pass as you begin to work on improving yourself. Improving yourself for the inevitable grail war. The grail war is the final deadline for all of your schemes. Or, if you do turn out to be in a world where the events of Tsukihime actually do take place, then a few weeks before the Fifth Grail War might have to be your deadline. Though even if they do actually end up somehow occurring in this timeline, you aren't sure if it's worth the effort of heading to Misaki Town. The power scale of Tsukihime is really all sorts of messed up. You'll just have to ask Rin or Waver about Dead Apostle Ancestors when the time is right, that ought to confirm things. Hell, if even that fails, you can just bring up the True Ancestors or Arcueid herself somehow.

Speaking of Waver, you manage to meet him a few more times at the arcade in town, and continually give the teenager more and more advice and information about games. You end up becoming fairly good friends with the man, but of course, neither of you want to reveal your true statuses as magi to the other right now. Honestly, with the whole situation behind magi and technology, you don't even really know if Waver believes you to be a magus or just a child of the Matou without actual information of his heritage.

Of course, your actual potential as a magus is rather incredibly far different from what you were expecting. You spent a few weeks meditating in an effort to find your magic circuits, having learned of a method from one of the many tomes of the Matou you ended up reading over the months of self-improvement you put yourself through. You tried the meditation technique whenever you managed to find a private secluded space to actually assess your magic circuits. Eventually on one visit to the secluded Einzbern forest you finally manage to assess yourself. Upon looking deep inside yourself, you can see 13 jagged and imperfect lines, they are almost completely useless, and about as low quality as they can be without being completely useless. But, there's something else, something you in your wildest dreams did not expect that Shinji, as a worthless magus, would ever have had.

The jagged unusable circuits aren't the only circuits you can see, in fact, those circuits are basically nothing in comparison to this... second set, you can see. They are different from the jagged and low-quality circuits. Far different. If you had to make a comparison, the thirteen jagged circuits are like tiny capillaries, barely able to transfer magical energy. The vast quantity of circuits that flank those jagged circuits on both sides however are more like arteries. Then, working to count the circuits, you find just over eighty of these incredible looking magic circuits. Clocking in at eighty two of those ridiculously high quality channels for magic. Something of an unhinged grin forms on your face.
>>
But you wipe the grin from your face. You might have a massive quantity of magic circuits, but actually activating the circuits is another story entirely. Right now, each of those circuits remains dormant within you, and while you have devised a formalcraft ritual from the Matou tomes that will hopefully allow you to gather enough ambient mana to force your circuits to open. But, there's just one single problem with actually opening them.

You aren't just going to be able to close them again after doing so, and if Zouken realizes that you've actually somehow developed magic circuits. Well, that's a dead end, no question. Still, the knowledge that when you should actually make your move that you are a once in a generation prodigy when it comes to magic circuits is certainly a great comfort to you. Zouken will never see you coming.

Unfortunately, despite your great progress in reading through the Matou Library and your discovery about your magic circuits, you don't really manage to find any more information about Reality Marbles that you can put to use. It's an unfortunate consequence of trying to research a taboo form of magecraft. In the end, the only progress you make on that field is a vague mention of an internalized bounded field in one of the faded grimoires you read through. Despite your greatest efforts to find more information though, you don't feel like you're any closer to your goal.

Of course, learning magic and forging a friendship with the future Lord El-Melloi II isn't all that you spend these two years doing, you also put great effort into physically training your body. You make sure you spend at least an hour everyday exercising, and whenever you get the chance, you train for even longer. Your favorite place to exercise is within a portion of the Einzbern forest far away from the castle. You don't want to step on any land-mines that Kiritsugu might have planted, after all.

Still, despite the potential danger of Kiritsugu's traps in the forest, that doesn't stop you from climbing the trees and jumping from branch to branch. By the end of the two years, you're definitely one of the physically strongest ten year olds in the city. Maybe even in the country, not counting genetic freaks and magic cheaters. But that's not all, you also spent a good amount of time convincing a martial arts dojo to train you despite your young age. You end up deciding on a Bajiquan dojo in Fuyuki to learn the art. The more commercially friendly variant of Bajiquan the dojo teaches may not be as deadly as the form being taught to Rin by Kirei, but it's a good base for you to work off of, and you are constantly praised by the head of the dojo for your technique, picking up the art far quicker than the other members of the dojo to the point that you quickly surpass children three or four years your senior in skill.
>>
Eventually though, those two years come to an end, you've gotten much more powerful during this time, you can feel it. Though you are certainly absolutely no match for anyone that you might want to kill right now, you are comforted quite greatly by the knowledge that you have at least enough potential to one day be strong enough to protect everyone.

You wake up, getting out of your bed and doing a few morning stretches to get yourself ready for yet another day of school, only for a voice to call to you through your door and for you realize that your alarm failed to wake you. "Come on, Onii-chan! You overslept! We're going to be late!" Sakura seems to be in a much better way than she was two years ago when you first met her. She acts far happier when she's around you. Hopefully, you haven't gone too far with trying to cheer her up a little. You've kept your interactions with your grandfather to a minimum over the past two years, and he doesn't appear to be suspicious of his 'grandson' at all. A drawback of treating his descendant with complete disregard once he found out you were born with a lack of usable magic circuits. But if he decides that you can be used as a tool to manipulate Sakura, that's basically the end of your scheming. At that point it's kill Zouken or get out.

"Right right, sorry Sakura, I'll be right there!" You apologize to your younger sister as you get dressed rapidly. Spending a moment to admire the physique you've managed to gain over the past two years. Even though you're still just a boy, your body is very obviously developing well. If you keep up your regime, you'll likely be at the peak of natural human strength by the time the Fifth War starts. After admiring yourself for a moment, you quickly get dressed and meet with Sakura. Giving her a somewhat awkward smile in an attempt to apologize for oversleeping. Screw what Shirou thinks about alarm clocks, you just aren't able to wake up at the crack of dawn like he does every single day.

You walk to elementary school with Sakura, taking the same route you always do, only this time, you spot something, or rather, someone of great interest to you. An auburn haired boy your age is standing in a park confronting three older children, behind him is a boy younger than he is. You certainly don't remember Shinji being mentioned having met Shirou this early on in his life, so this must just be a chance encounter. The question is though, should you help him? You're pretty sure that you could beat those older children pretty effortlessly as you are now, should they get violent.

>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
>Just ignore the boy and head to school with Sakura. Not your business and it's not like Shirou is going to get himself hurt.
>Help Shirou by sucker punching one of the older kids to scare off the other two.
>Hide in the bushes and throw rocks at the older kids until they leave.
>Write-in...

And here's a character sheet!
I feel like I might've been a little too generous with that 99 on circuits, but what can I say? You're an isekai protagonist through and through.
>>
>>4328050
You know what? If you're invested enough in this to be that angry about it, I'm not going to debate you anymore, because there's no chance you're going to come around after digging your heels in this far. Good luck to you, anon. Here's hoping the quest turns out to be as generous and forgiving as you seem to expect, and the rules of magic turn out to really just be guidelines.

>>4328078
>Just ignore the boy and head to school with Sakura. Not your business and it's not like Shirou is going to get himself hurt.
>>
>>4328083
>Quantity: A+
>Quality: A+
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
>>
Shirou gained most of his skills from 5th HGW anyway, between constantly trying to survive against the enemies far stronger than him, Rin actually unlocking his circuit, Archer giving him tips and their resonance, and Servants providing him with Noble Phantasms to copy. The only “head start” you can reasonably give kid Shirou is probably opening his circuits and giving him some tips for his Projection, but frankly providing him with Orthodox foundation of magecraft might lead into him not going for the unorthodox method that gave him Tracing in the firs place
>>
>>4328078
>>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
We are definitely doing this, this was how Shinji would usually try to solve things whenever Shirou got himself into a fight
>>
>>4328087
Time to send marriage request to the Bartholomei family
>>
>>4328094
Lorelei is too old for us, anon. Also, we should marry Olga Marie.
>>
>>4328087
>>4328094
seriously, to put that in perspective, Luvia has B+ for her Quantity and Quality and Rin should be somewhere around that ballpark too. We're so fucking busted its not even funny
>>
>>4328100
Most of them seem to be Isekai Bro's too.
Shinji's natural Magic Circuits seem to be these ones, if I'm reading it right.
>Upon looking deep inside yourself, you can see 13 jagged and imperfect lines, they are almost completely useless, and about as low quality as they can be without being completely useless.
>>
>>4328100
Luvia actually has B++ quality.
Strictly speaking that's higher than A+.
>>
>>4328097
Teenager in 2016 Olga Marie? That one? I guess Shinji would make sense as a creepy old man.
>>
Are we going with the whole lore of Human Order being the underlying foundation of the existence of Heroic Spirits, and the world where the Human Order is strong enough that Heroic Spirits could exist does not have True Ancestors and vice versa.
>>
>>4328078
>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
>>
>>4328106
I'm kinda greedy and wanna jumpstart the remaining ones too but time and place
>>
>>4328112
I don't think we know that. It's one of the big questions. I thought Tsukihime happened in 2000 too, so this is all kinds of confusing.
>>
>>4328109
i never understood why ++ even exists in the first place if it means its better than the next quality after it
>>
>>4328121
Tsukihime happens a little before Fate Stay Night so yeah a few weeks. I don't know if we wanna go there, I do but thinking about it logically, Tsukihime is hard mode. We not only have no allies there but the enemies there are gonna be tougher for the sole fact that we don't have a servant to rely on. Surviving Tsukihime will make the HGW a breeze but it does make things harder for us in the long run.
>>
>>4328121
I recall reading somewhere that the end of Tsukihime would occur at just about the same time F/SN began.
You know, if you work under the assumption that they actually did occur in the same universe.
Otherwise it doesn't matter.
>>
>>4328106
I would like to believe canon Shinji had them the entire time but didn't notice because the shitty ones were in the way.
>>
>>4328124
I think in the original you could only have a + after rank A so it was defined as meaning double the letter. Then in later games they started putting + on lower letters and you get B+ higher than A but lower than A+ or B++ higher than A+ and that weirdness.
>>
>>4328078
>>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
no point in being needlesly violent and aggressive, but we should still take the chance to be with shirou.
>>
>>4328110
Fine, fine. Since you're so insistent, we can send a marriage offer to Luvia. Blonde Rin is good too.

>>4328129
I'm the same way. I want to go and try and make friends with Arc and Shiki, but goddamn the death flags.
Also, we would be able to show Arc our ancient and legendary Mystic Eyes.
The Mystic Eyes of Depth Perception
>>
>>4328130
Interesting. Since Fate is set in 2004 and was released in 2004 I assumed Tsukihime also happened the year of its release.

>>4328131
I'm gonna believe this too. That's way more fun than them coming from (You).
>>
>>4328124
Welcome to the Nasuverse character sheet, where stats are all made up and the points don't matter

Yes the points matters as much as Sakura's virginity.
>>
>>4328124
The +/- are temporary modifiers.
>>
>>4328078
>Just ignore the boy and head to school with Sakura. Not your business and it's not like Shirou is going to get himself hurt.
Tough call but I can't go against my instincts.
>>
>>4328140
We got a wormfag here boys. Take him in.
>>
Okay bros, its time to make our moves to get to Kerry. I feel like Zouken is gonna notice that Sakura is chipper when she's around us anytime now so we gotta make a connection with Kerry soon. Also maybe meet up with Rin so we have that in our back pocket when we want to train or for Shirou to train
>>
>>4328078
>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
Thinking about it, if zouken finds out about our circuits, he's going to drop the idea of worm rapimg sakura and focus on us entirely
Yeah, we need to get the fuck out soon
>>
>>4328148
You think kerry can stop the worm? Zouken would make him his bitch
>>
>>4328078
>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
Broship? Broship.
>>
>>4328149
>>4328152
We could always see if we can get Kirei to stop molesting kids in his basement and actually do his fucking job.
That'd sort out Zouken right quick. Telling Waver is also a possibility.
>>
>>4328152
Nah I just think we can live with him, that and he has 3 more years left to live and time is kind of a factor
>>
>>4328157
>That'd sort out Zouken right quick.
Doubt. It might be fun to watch Kirei get eaten by Zouken though.
>>
>>4328148
Why would Zouken do anything to us now? He'll just let her happiness stew for a couple more years now so the despair will be that much sweeter when he forces us to rape her or some other bad things.
>>
>>4328159
I mean, either way we win.
>>
>>4328157
Kirei would take one look at our sweet sweet 80 high quality circuits and throw us into the basement first chance he gets
>>
>>4328159
Kirei has an advantage over Zouken, he's got them mad Priest verses or whatever and he's physically fit, neither of them would get out of that fight unscathed
>>
>>4328160
because if he notices how we're a Magus's wet dream of an heir, we're gonna get wormed so fucking quick, we're walking a dangerous line now
>>
>>4328163
Wait no, thinking about it, he'd probably just show us off to rin as his new apprentice or something. Then he'd lord our superiority over her head for years
>>
>>4328170
I am really tempted to latch onto Waver's ass so hard, he's force to drag us with him when he leaves Fuyuki.
>>
>>4328174
He would find a way to be a bastard to both us and Rin at the same time, while planning to backstab us both at the perfect moment to be as fucking dickish as possible, while we try to stave him off by learning how to cook the world's most perfect mapo tofu.
>>
>>4328078
>Go over and try to help Shirou resolve things peacefully. Though don't be afraid to defend yourself.
>>
>>4328174
also he's gonna mention that he's a Matou to make it hurt more cause she's gonna think of Sakura. Man, fuck Kirei
>>
>>4328170
Is that really bad though? Kariya only got fucked because of his rejection and trying to put in decades of work into less than a year of training.

If Zouken actually got off his ass and trained Shinji as an heir, that would be the greatest power gain possible. Of course if you get squeamish off getting anally violated by crestworms, you shouldn't bother being a magus in the first place.
>>
>>4328186
Yes, I would say that becoming an old leech's meat puppet is a bad thing
>>
>>4328186
Go away Zouken.
>>
>>4328186
Like it or not, that's the straight truth.
>>
Call me arrogant, but there's no appeal for me in becoming a hanger-on for Kerry, Kirei, or Waver. If we're ever going to make anything of ourselves, we've got to make a stand here and now and figure out a way to survive in the Matou house. It's our home, and it's Sakura's home. Anything else is just running away like the coward canon Shinji showed himself to be in the Grail War.
>>
>>4328186
I guess this would kinda "save" Sakura.
>>
>>4328200
you're arrogant. We have Shinji's genius and an adult's experience but we actually need a teacher to learn how to use magic and allies to look out for us
>>
>>4328200
>Using our foreknowledge to make beneficial connections, get the best teachers, manipulate our enemies against each other, and set up safety nets for ourself is "cowardly."
Okay.
>>
>>4328209
Not unless we meet Aoko.
>>
>>4328200
Anon, there are some fights you can't win. Zouken WILL ass fuck us if he finds out. And I don't just mean worming, he won't be satisfied until he has us broken to his whim and he has years to do it. Staying with the matous is the most limited and dangerous option we have, there's mo reason to do it other than waifuism and pride
>>
>>4328212
Making connections, learning from the powerful, and setting up alliances is great. Running away to live in the Emiya house or England because we're scared of Zouken is cowardly.
>>
>>4328188
Zouken's soul is so degraded, and you have two souls in the body, if it comes down to the battle for dominance, I'm willing to chance it.
>>
>>4328220
Zouken will literally fuck us in the ass with magic worms and he have no way to actually kill him. Fuck, I am completely willing to interact with Kirei if it means Zouken is severely injured or dies.
If we can't figure out a way to kill Zouken, we need to leave the matou house and find a place where we can learn and increase our abilities as a magus without Zouken breathing down out neck. If that means moving in with Kerry, going to the Clock Tower with Waver, or traveling around as Monica's apprentice for a few years, so be it.
>>
>>4328217
Or take it like a man for the years leading up to the grail war, while gaining the knowledge and skill of one of the best practitioner of magecraft who had ever lived. Then once we actually have a Servant, we get more option to break out. This also takes the burden off Sakura.

Zouken hated Kariya, he doesn't necessarily have to hate Shinji.
>>
>>4328200
We are 8 years old. Hanging on is what they do. Or ten now but still they hang on to older people
>>
>>4328223
The less we are around that devil the better
>>
>>4328223
>Or take it like a man for the years leading up to the grail war
You're advocating for actively enslaving ourselves to the will of a wrinkly old fuck because you don't want to look like a bitch, come on now
>Zouken hated Kariya, he doesn't necessarily have to hate Shinji.
Zouken hates everyone and everything, he's a bitter old bastard who forgot why he's even alive at this point
>>
>>4328229
sir, we are 10 now
>>
>>4328238
Didn't you know, 10 years old means it's time to not be a coward and make a stand against Zouken.
>>
Hey, do you guys think we could get Gil to teach Shinji how to use AUO Cast Off?
>>
>>4328239
It's certainly not time to run away from home to join the magic circus.
>>
>>4328243
Gill would just suck us off like he did to all those other orphans
>>
>>4328243
honestly, after this timeskip, I feel like we're gonna be doing TONS of stuff in Fuyuki now, we're gonna hangout with Shirou, we're gonna have to meet Rin soon, and we're probably gonna run into Gil as we make allies
>>
>>4328238
i corrected myself but didnt feel like going back and correcting it in the first place
>>
>>4328246
I'm hoping for another timeskip ASAP. Really don't want to play through 8 YEARS before we get to the main plot. 10 is really too young for our life to be interesting anyway. Hope we can jump to at least 14 soon.
>>
if we are ten we should not be taking extreme risks. We have the wisdom of an adult in the body of a child. Let's turn "youth is wasted on the young" on its head
>>
>>4328253
nah, we still haven't met Rin and Kerry yet and that needs to happen why'll we're still young and Kerry's heart is still beating
>>
>>4328257
It can happen during the timeskip.
>>
>>4328259
nah that shit's lame, I want downtime and to be able to see us hangout with them
>>
>>4328254
Yeah, that's why we need to get the fuck out of the city and learn about magic in the best place on the planet to learm about magic under the watchful eye of one of the best magic teachers in existence
Fuyuki is a can of worms we don't need to open right now, we should get all we can out of it before we fuck off
>>
>>4328267
>cans of worms
Haha get it

Seriously, I can't stress this enough, if we really wanna take part in Tsukihime, we gotta leave for Misaki Town now. Shiki will at least be on our side if we decide to go visit 8 years later and its fucking Aoko, the goddamn 5th Magician, a time traveler.

You might not technically be supposed to meet Shirou yet, but you suppose getting to know the future wannabe hero of justice a little earlier can't hurt. Besides, being better friends with the definite wielder of a Reality Marble and one of the most singularly powerful people on the planet really can't hurt. Anybody who can defeat Servants is a worthwhile person to know.

Well, that and the fact that Shirou Emiya is genuinely one of the nicest people in the world. Honestly, you can't really imagine how terrible a person you would have to be to dislike the guy. Really, only Gilgamesh or EMIYA ever really show true hatred towards him, and Gilgamesh's reasons for despising him are fairly petty. Still didn't stop him from getting beaten by Shirou because he wasn't prepared to put his armor on. Dumbass. EMIYA just suffers from a super advanced form of self-loathing, but eventually even he manages to get over it.

Walking towards the playground, you call out to the children standing in the park. "Hey! What's going on here?" You make your presence known as you walk into the playground, and every head in the place turns to look upon the new arrival.

The biggest kid spits on the floor. "Great, another would-be hero sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong! Where the hell are you assholes coming from?!" Clearly, he's some sort of leader of a group of bullies. The situation is really easy to read, especially with what you know of Shirou. That boy just doesn't know when to leave well alone even when faced with immeasurable odds.

You clear your throat as you look the leader of the bullies in the eye. "I'm just a concerned passer-by. I couldn't help but notice that the three of you were engaging in a rather obnoxious activity, so I must ask you to desist, disperse, and go about your business." You finish with something of a flair, smirking as you meet the older boys glare.

The older boy is clearly confused by your introduction, and he returns your rather eloquent introduction with a rude and brief. "Fuck off before we decide to make you our next target, you little runt." Obviously, he isn't intimidated by you, nor is he convinced by your polite request.

It's Shirou who talks next, trying desperately to disarm the situation "Come on, there's no point in getting violent. I mean, what do you get from bullying this kid? Does it make you feel strong? Picking on somebody so much smaller than you?" Don't you dare, Shirou! "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" God damn it! Are you really that dense, Shirou? Are you trying to get yourself beaten up?
>>
"Oh? Maybe we will." The older boy begins to walk up to Shirou, towering over the younger boy and trying to intimidate him into backing down. Good luck with that, Shirou is as stubborn as a mule. Still, this is not going well at all, and it's pretty clear that things are going to turn violent very quickly. Shirou, stubborn though he might be, doesn't exactly have the ability to take on these bullies. So, what's his plan here? You wait for Shirou to do something, only for the boy to just stand there and stare at the bully.

Great. Looks like Shirou's plan is to call their bluff. Except, well... they aren't at all bluffing. You're already moving before the bully can hit Shirou, reaching him and hooking one of your feet round his legs. With a great pull, you send the larger crashing to the ground before stomping on his chest. Just hard enough to let him know you could have seriously wounded him. "I think I told you to leave. This is your last chance to do so." Honestly, you aren't really sure that you'll be able to beat them all at once if they decide to team up to fight you, thankfully, after seeing the ringleader being knocked down like he was, his two minions soon lose their nerve and flee.

The leader scowls as he gets up to his feet, but upon realizing that he's no longer backed up by his two lackeys, he decides to retreat instead of fighting you by himself. Honestly, you don't know what Shirou is expecting that stopping those bullies will do. They aren't exactly going to stop bullying that kid, in fact, after being stopped, you can't help but imagine that their bullying will be even more intense.

You wait for Shirou to talk to the younger kid and send him on his way, you're definitely going to be late now, but seriously, who cares? Your teachers can complain about absences from school when you don't just breeze through their entire curriculum. Eventually, the auburn haired boy approaches you. "Thanks for helping out there. I'm uh, Shirou Emiya. It's too bad that somebody had to get hurt there." Even now, Shirou is feeling bad for his enemies. What a terribly selfless individual. Well, he's fundamentally broken, so it's to be expected. It's because of that particular issue that he's such a nice person though, so you suppose there's a positive to wanting to save absolutely everyone.
>>
"It's fine Emiya-san. Don't worry about him anyway, I didn't actually hit him hard enough to hurt him, I just let him know that I easily could have done so." You shrug at the boy as you look him in his golden eyes. "Honestly, I doubt that there will even be a bruise." Shirou looks a little relieved at being told that. He's not been given the whole Hero of Justice ideal by his father yet, but despite that, he's still getting himself into dangerous situations for the sake of other people he doesn't even know.

Why would anyone pick a different option this is just the natural flow of conversation. Any other option is just autism. Sakura can be introduced after we introduce ourselves, it would be weird to not introduce ourselves.
>>
>>4328923
I meant more in context within the setting. He'd be a very difficult person to hate if you knew him as a person instead of as a fictional character.

I love him even as a fictional character. :)

I'm open to switching to the introduction option if those voting to call Sakura over will do the same. Although it would be nice to end this meeting early, the main thing for me is just to keep her from getting to know Shirou any earlier than they meet in canon.
>>
>>4328926
some people out there despise those that are pure good, those that are too nice or selfless to be a "proper human being". I think they would rather have everybody be exceedingly selfish all the time and have altruism cease being a thing that exists in real life. That's kinda dumb, because its human nature to want to help others at least a little bit, due to various factors both biological and sociological.

Then again, Shirou is a guy with extreme survivor's guilt, childhood trauma, and an obsession with idealism and justice. He's as much a compressed bundle of issues as anybody else in Fate/Stay Night.
>>
>>4328916
>>Properly introduce yourself to Shirou. It's the polite thing to do, and you want to be his friend anyway.
>>
>>4328937
A little altruism is a great thing for everybody to have, but it's like salt. When your whole life revolves around being a self-righteous freak that's somebody I can't like in or out of fiction. That's just broken.
>>
>>4328944

>>
>>4328950
I didn't say I loved everybody else, anon. I just don't think you have to be a terrible person to dislike Shirou. And for what it's worth there are some characters a lot more human than he is in the story, they're not all obsessed with just one part of life.

okay so since we're in the year that Aoko meets Shiki, I have an idea. We should call Monica and hire her for a job. She keeps tabs on the hospitals in Misaki town and lets us know if a guy named Shiki Tohno (or Shiki Nanaya) was admitted into a hospital. Shiki meets Aoko a few days after his accident so this works really well. If a guy named Shiki does land in the hospital, then that further gives us evidence that Tsukihime did actually happen and we gotta make a quick visit, if it doesn't we don't even have to bother to go.
>>
>>4328965
Seems reasonable, hopefully we have the disposable income to hire her.
From the sound of it we spent all our cash on making Sakura feel like a human person instead of worm feed.
>>
>>4328965
That actually is a decent idea. Good work, anon. You get a sugar cube.

>>4328973
Worm girl will just have to realize sometime Big Bro needs to spend money to meet a time traveling shotacon for reasons.
>>
>>4328975
>time traveling
Is this from mahoyo or something? I always thought the 5th was massive energy generation by nuclear fusion, or something like that, and mainly allowed her to blow things up.
>>
>>4328916
>Properly introduce yourself to Shirou. It's the polite thing to do, and you want to be his friend anyway.
Here's an idea to meet Illya early.
Why don't we try arranging a meeting with the Einzbern as a representative of the Matou/Makiri?
We could tell them about sonething like how one of the last war's servants managed to incarnate. We could try for a good impression on Illya so when the war rolls around we don't get pancaked by Berserker.
>>
>>4328976
Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, Tsukihime, Melty Blood.

The fifth manipulates heat as energy and can perform time travel. It also involves the law of conservation of mass
>>
>>4328916
>Pretend to be too busy to introduce yourself. Excuse yourself from the conversation and head to school.

>>4328976
I think it's less "time travel" and more "time editing". She managed to pull her future self's body back in time to beat Touko while still being the "present" her and she took someone's "death" and put it at the end of the universe. At least from what I remember.
>>
>>4328977
Now this is an idea I can get behind. Thanks, anon.

>>4328979
Huh. I only really know it from the World Material supplement on magic, and information on it is pretty sparing there. At least I had the right idea with the whole heat/energy thing.
>>
>>4328977
In all 3 routes combined Heracles defeats 1/7 servants
>>
>>4328977
Sounds good. It'd be fun to see the Einzbern castle as a visitor instead of an enemy.
>>
>>4328989
Sure, but he fought every other Servant to a standstill.
Pretty impressive.
>>
>>4328993
That is true
>>
>>4328989
Now you're just being disingenuous, anon. While circumstances may have kept him from fighting many of the Servants in the war, if you've read the VN you know he'd have no trouble at all killing off Caster, Rider, Lancer, and both Assassins. He does canonically kill Archer, and would easily kill pre-mana transfer Saber. The only Servant who can easily deal with him is Gilgamesh. That's a pretty respectable lineup.
>>
>>4328995
Most importantly, he canonically killed Shinji. I feel that anyone who killed our original self in any of the routes is someone worth handling with care.
>>
>>4328996
>I feel that anyone who killed our original self in any of the routes is someone worth handling with care.
>Friends with Sakura now
Y-yeah
>>
>>4328996
I may not agree with that, since canon Shinji is weak as hell and can be swatted like a fly, but by that logic we'd need to be careful around Sakura.
>>
>>4328999
>>4329001
That's why we're taking such care to be nice to her and foster an attachment to her brother, isn't it? To ensure that if Dark Sakura is born she has no chance of resenting us?
The best way to be careful of a potential enemy is to turn them into someone who cares about your wellbeing. It's what I'd like to do with Illya.
>>
>>4329004
I was voting to be nice to her because I like her and want her to be happy though.
>>
>>4329006
Consider it killing two birds with one stone then.
>>
>>4329001
Canon Shinji may be weak, but I think it's worth remembering that the three characters who (essentially) killed him are Berserker, Gilgamesh, and Dark Sakura. The three most powerful individuals in Fate/Stay Night. Definitely people to make sure we can turn into allies if possible.
I know Shinji technically survived UBW, but getting a forcible heart transplant by Dr. Gil is close enough for government work, as they say.

>>4329006
And if we make her happy, she's probably not going to end up as our enemy. My emotional reason for getting close to Illya is that I want to make her happy and give her a romance, but that doesn't mean I'm not also thinking about what a dangerous enemy she could be.

Dark Sakura is fucking insane so we absolutely can't let her be born

That said even if it lands on deaf ears, all I ask is that we don't get too totally Isekai power trip with things. We may be off the rails, but we have a lane and I'd like to stay in it as much as possible.
As far as I'm concerned Shirou is still the MC, and we're a very interesting take on an NPC with meta knowledge. Let's not be the asshole trying to wrap the narrative around his finger so he can live out his power fantasy. That's cringe.
We have a job to do. We're a man on a mission making the best of a bad situation. As long as this story stays a battleground instead of a playground then I'm happy.

>>4329251
That's valid.
If we're being 100% honest. I'm not really interested in any of the main 3 waifus. Illya would be my first choice, but I'm in sorta a Hag mode right now, so I might low key push for Rider or something idk.
At the end of the day, as long as the girls are happy and not dead, then I'd consider it a job well done.
>>
>>4329261
>Let's not be the asshole trying to wrap the narrative around his finger so he can live out his power fantasy. That's cringe
Yeah that's why I refuse to consciously be manipulative to any of the characters. Winning your waifu's affection is cool and all but is it really worth it if your taking advantage of her?
>>
>>4329261
>As far as I'm concerned Shirou is still the MC, and we're a very interesting take on an NPC with meta knowledge.
Yeah, totally disagree. I've said my piece about making Shinji the protagonist earlier in the thread, but I'll add that I don't think trying to raise ourself out of the NPC pit of irrelevance is a power trip, just acting on the fact that we are the protagonist of the quest.
As for being a man on a mission, you've lost me there. I certainly don't see that we have a mission or a job, we've just been dropped into this world to fend for ourself and try to make the best life we can, like anybody else. I have my personal goal of seeing us married to Illya, but I'm not self-absorbed enough to think that's the mission of the whole player base. Do you just mean surviving?

Are you not familiar with CCC or Prototype? I think Liz' actions in the first game she appeared in fully justify being chaotic evil.
Manaka attempts to summon the Beast of Revelation to destroy Tokyo as an expression of her yan love for Arthur in Prototype. She also chops up her own father to sacrifice him to the Grail and later tries to kill her younger sister. She's top-end in Nasu's style of crazy evil girls.

Me neither.
But I do think trying to make him the MC of what we know full well is Shirou's story is cringe. We can do our own thing while making sure the characters we know and love get their best ending. The possibilities are endless, but I don't wanna sit here and twist the narrative into knots just for personal satisfaction.

>As for being a man on a mission, you've lost me there.
The mission is here bro. >>4323735

That worm bastard is going to die suffering"
-Not Die (Obviously)
-Kill Big Worm
-Make Sakura as happy as possible
And to a lesser extent bring a little less suffering to the grim Nasuverse.
It's not the de jure "thing we have to do to win" and everyone will have their own side goals and objectives, like you marrying Illya or me getting some Hag pootang, but it's a pretty clear goal and one that I think is better than "live it up like it's 2007".
Not saying that's what you wanna do, just speaking out against the sentiment in general.

>>4329305
>To tack onto this, I agree about not making it a power fantasy or playground.
Based. As long as we're on the same page in that regard all else will be fine in the end even if we disagree on specifics.
>>
>>4329322
I feel like we're getting to that "hero of another story" position quickly. We're already seeing routes that take us away from Fuyuki and putting us in adventures that don't even involve Shirou, plus we've already taken Shirou's place from one of his routes. Either way, Shirou is our bro and we shouldn't replace him as the MC
>>
>>4329322
>trying to make him the MC of what we know full well is Shirou's story
That's the thing. I don't want to sit by and play out Shirou's story, tweaking things in the background to grease his wheels and make a slightly nicer version of the VN plot.
We should do our own thing, not just help one of the canon routes along. Have this quest be Shinji's story, and a different one from any narrative in the VN. I don't think we're necessarily at loggerheads here, just looking at the thing differently.
That said, if any of you want to romance any of the girls in Fate, and I don't mean just the main heroines, you'll have to agree with me that we need to improve on Shinji's appeal points until he can outshine Shirou. As it is, we know from Holllow Ataraxia that they all fall for him (or Kuzuki) eventually and Shinji is left alone. That was what I was originally driving at with the "challenge of the quest" post yesterday.
>>
>>4329334
literally the only thing holding Shinji back was his shitty personality, that's why Sakura killed him, that's why Shirou stopped being his friend, and that's why Rin wanted nothing to do with him. Literally just changing that aspect of Shinji radically changes that events of FSN
>>
>>4329338
We've also dodged a couple of significant bullets by having actual magic circuits, training our body from an early age, and not taking up archery. That removes several points of inferiority potential. I do think it'd be best to learn a style of martial arts different from the one Rin and Kirei both use as well, but c'est la vie.
This time we can want nothing to do with Rin instead of the reverse!
>>
>>4329313

Shinji is aware of how broken Bajiquan gets thanks to Li Shuwen, so he would naturally gravitate towards that style and it isn't like Kuzuki is around to learn Snake from.
It's not like you can't create a combination form of Martial Arts from everything you learn eventually though.
>>
>>4329345
>I do think it'd be best to learn a style of martial arts different from the one Rin and Kirei both use as well, but c'est la vie.
Nah I disagree, it puts us in a position to better learn their brand of Bajiquan when we inevitably start training with Rin, time is a factor even if we might be meeting a certain time traveler soon
>>
>>4329366
>inevitably start training with Rin
Peh. Don't characterize your personal hopes as inevitable fate.
>>
>>4329331
Yeah. Nasuverse is a big place, and while we're tied to the Fates story we don't have to steal the show away from Shirou. We could, who could blame us if we did? It's what Isekai protags do. But I don't think we should and I think it would be far more rewarding if we didn't and instead cut out our own niche in the world.

>>4329334
The fact that (We) are Shinji will change the canon routes by default, so i'm not really worried about that. Even if we don't actively try to steal the story from Shirou, shit is already fucked beyond recognition so one way or another we're gonna get a nice, fairly original route out of this quest, no cucking Shirou out of his story required.
As for your point about appeal points is valid, we definitely need to work on that.
