The Lighthouse War is over, but conflict still continues.

With Erusea's defeat at the hands of the Osean Federation and the International United Nations, the imperial nation has splintered into a confusing mess of separatists, freedom fighters, warlords, rogue military factions, and those seeking to profit from the chaos. Worse, Erusea's many automated drone factories still remain intact, waiting for new masters to come to claim them.

The Usean continent remains in crisis, and it's up to a new generation of pilots to face this next generation threat...

You are MILLY, the "Red Tail", a Belkan Air Force pilot fighting for the IUN!

Right now was the moment of truth. You and pretty much the rest of the Belkan Air Force were bearing down on the greatest threat any of you had faced yet. A massive flying superweapon called the Arkbird II.

It had just about everything. Laser weaponry of all shapes and sizes, missile launchers, squadrons of drones, and who knew what else hidden in that massive aerial hull. It had already blown through both Osean and Belkan air defense systems without a single scratch on it.

And you were about to meet this damn thing head on.

"So what's the plan here, Raven?" Grun Lead asks.

"If we had the luxury of time, I'd like to probe the Arkbird's defenses. See what it's capable of." Bandit grunts. "But this thing is already bearing down on Dinsmark and I don't know if we have time to spare."

I don't think it's target is the city, it wouldn't make sense. But it's probably still better to bring it down before the Oseans can take part.

I'm not exactly a fan of the idea that destroying this thing will end our flying career permanently.

"Let's go!" You say confidently. "Like you said, we don't have time to be fancy!"

"R-r-r-really?" Vicky gulps.

"I concur!" Misono adds excitedly.

"I suppose you have a point." Bandit admits. "All right, everyone, Raven will act as the vanguard. Just follow our lead in."

"That's what I'm talking about!" Indigo Lead laughs.

"Roger." Grun Lead affirms.

"We'll hang back to provide long range fire support." Schnee Lead adds.

"Warning, I'm detecting multiple smaller contacts!' Brighteye calls out. "Looks like the Arkbird II is deploying its drone squadrons! It knows you're coming!"

"Wouldn't have a proper fight otherwise!" You cackle.

"This does complicate matters." Bandit grunts. "These drones are far more advanced than anything we've seen. I'm not sure if the others can handle them."

"We don't need to f-fight the drones, right?" Vicky gulps. "We just need to get past them and head straight for the Arkbird II!"

"We don't know what their target priority will be." Misono points out.

"Oh, I have a feeling I know." You nod. "These drones are supposed to be coded off END"s data, right?"

"You're not suggesting what I think you're suggesting, right?" Bandit asks cautiously.

"Well, they'll definitely come after me, right?" You wonder.

"T-that's suicide!" Vicky gasps. "Even you can't handle that many drones at once!"

"Then we just blow right through them!" You say confidently as you hit afterburner.

"Red wait- damnit!" Bandit curses. "Looks like we're committed!"

Almost immediately, like a swarm of locusts, the Raven drones gather together in a cloud of steel and move in to engage the threat, though you do notice a few staying behind. A rear guard, perhaps?

"We got missile locks on the drones!" Schnee calls out. "We can knock that swarm back if you need it!"

Unfortunately, the oncoming Raven drones also see the missiles incoming, and they all immediately begin taking evasive actions. Dozens of missiles from your Belkan allies plunge into the swarm, and you see numerous Ravens take hits and explode, but the strike doesn't seem to be as effective as you had hoped.

The Raven drones immediately respond, launching a retaliatory salvo of missiles.

"Incoming! Break break!"

"Drop flares! That's what they're for!"

"Watch out! That counter salvo means you can't count on allied support until they regroup!" Brighteye warns.

"There's still a lot of them left..." Vicky whimpers.

Sure enough, there was at least a squadron of Raven drones still between you and the Arkbird II.

"We just gotta keep them off your backs, right? We can handle it!" Indigo Lead responds.

A volley of missiles from Indigo's Gripens draws the attention of the Raven drones and they turn away to face the more imminent threat. That leaves a gap in the defense your squadron can slip through...

You see there's still a few drones hanging back near the Arkbird II, but they don't appear to be maneuvering to intercept. It was odd, but that meant you didn't need to pay attention to them.

The Arkbird II, meanwhile, was starting to loom in your view, taking up your entire cockpit. It was less an aircraft and more like a flying fortress!

"I-It's huge!" Vicky wails. "Where do we even start!?"

"S-sorry! We haven't figured out any weakpoints yet!" Brighteye says apologetically. "You're just going to have to keep hitting it and see what works!"

"Some help you are!" Vicky groans.

"Perhaps we should focus on stripping its defenses..." Misono suggests.

"I'd rather hit more critical targets, like the engine or its main laser..." Bandit muses.

"Those drones have to be launching from somewhere, right?" Vicky points out. "That's gotta be a structural weakpoint!"

"Yeah, let's hit the engines! Knock this thing outta the sky!" You say.

As your squadron loops around to engage the Arkbird II at the rear, you can see several Raven drones explode as Orpheus and Flamenco finally catch up.

"Well look who finally joined the party!" You laugh. "Fashionably late, you know!"

"We can trash talk later!" Angela barks. "You going for the engines, too?"

"That's right!" Misono answers.

"How about the other squadrons? If we can hit it from both sides, that gives us a better chance of overwhelming the Arkbird II's defenses-" Alanna starts.

Your allies fire off missiles in a massive wave, all of them homing in the Arkbird II's engines.

Immediately, the pulse laser batteries mounted on the rear of the ship light up, flooding the sky with azure energy bolts. In addition, the drones you saw that were still hanging near the Arkbird II but weren't actively engaging you began spitting out ruby beams of light. Those damn things were point defense drones!

Several missiles are intercepted and shot out of the air, but the sheer number of missiles means many of them are able to brute force their way past the point defenses, and the begin slamming into the engine nacelles and exploding, ripping the Arkbird II's white plating apart like paper.

Your railgun then fires off, and the heavy round strikes true, plunging straight into one of the engine nacelles and detonating it.

"You're doing it! The Arkbird II is beginning to lose airspeed!" Brighteye cheers. "That will give reinforcements the opportunity to catch up!"

"Watch out! Something's happening!" Alanna warns.

Sure enough, you can see ports open up all over the Arkbird II's hull and there's dozens of flares of light as missiles and additional drones were being launched in a furious cloud. Looks like the Arkbird II was starting to take you seriously now.

However, it seems like most of the attention was directed at you. Were they targeting you because of your EML...?

Shit, your instincts were screaming at you to go evasive! You immediately jerk your stick and pull away from the Arkbird II as the fresh Raven drones begin to pursue you.

Meanwhile, behind you, your allies were also breaking off to avoid drones or missiles. However, it seemed the lion's share of them were still after you specifically.

"Additional reinforcements are coming from the south!" Brighteye announces. You can link up with them or take the opportunity to disengage and regroup!"

You hit the afterburners on your Wyvern, pushing as much speed as you can out of your engines as your plane's variable wings fold in to maximize acceleration.

And sure enough, the Raven drones are having trouble keeping up with you, especially with Bandit, Vicky, and Misono coming up right behind them and knocking them out of the sky while they're focused on you. Both Bandit and Misono's F-15s dive straight through the Raven pack, knocking out pair while Vicky's Gripen slides right behind a particularly persistent Raven and shreds it with cannon fire.

"Thanks, Swordfish!"

"It's my job, you know!" Vicky reminds you.

"AIRCRAFT DETECTED AHEAD." Swallow reminds you.

Sure enough, you were now close enough to the reinforcements that your HUD could tag them based on their IFF. Two squadrons of F-15s with an F-22 included in the mix. You see the words CYCLOPS and STRIDER wink on your screen.

Wait a minute, those squadron names looked familiar-

"Looks like Osea isn't taking any chances." Bandit observes.

"The LRSSG is here to save the day!" You hear a very annoying voice call out over the radio."

"Pipe down, Count." You hear another pilot, her accent sounding similar to Misono's, groan. "You realize who's airspace we're in right now?"

"Oh come on, Tabloid was a pretty stand up guy, so they can't all be bad, right?" Count replies.

"W-who?" His female squadronmate asks in confusion.

"Ah, nevermind. You get what I'm saying, right Trigger?"

And now it clicks in your head.

"Really? So the star Belkan ace is up here with us too!" Another LRSSG pilot chimes in. "I can't wait to tell my son about this!"

"How about you guys help us out with that damn drones here?!" You grunt, clearly annoyed at the Osean banter.

"Right, right, we got a job to do!" Count laughs. "Cyclops, you help these guys out with the drones. Strider will start making runs on the big bird!"

Sure enough, the two Osean squadrons split up, with one diving right into the drone swarm behind you while the other made a beeline straight for the Arkbird II.

"PERHAPS WE SHOULD SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT THE TARGET'S DEFENSES." Swallow suggests.

"Sounds like a good idea." You nod "Update them with what we saw."

"AFFIRMATIVE. TRANSFERRING DATA TO AWACS." Swallow says simply.

Meanwhile, a nearby explosion helps snap you back to reality. You were still in the middle of a dogfight, after all!

"Well, have fun with these clankers, Cyclops!" You say cheerfully as you pull your Wyvern into a tight loop, turning your nose back towards the Arkbird II. "We've got a big bird to roast!"

"Hey come on, that's cruel!" One of the Cyclops pilots protests.

"Cyclops, don't worry, Orpheus will assist." You hear Angela cut in.

On cue, a pair of Typhoons dive in, knocking drones out as they go as they link up with Cyclops.

"Should've figured Red Tail would pull a stunt like this." Alanna sighs.

Well, she wasn't wrong.

"We're not going to help them?" Vicky wonders as her Gripen manages to keep pace with your Wyvern's sharp turn.

"Ah, they can handle it." You assure her. "The Arkbird II is main target, anyways!"

"R-right." Vicky agrees.

Up ahead, you could already see Strider Squadron making an approach towards the Arkbird. Thanks to Swallow's update, they've already taken down the point defense drones, weakening the aerial fortress' defenses.

They also seemed to be doing a good job avoiding the Arkbird II's point defenses. This wasn't the first time they were fighting an oversized aerial target, after all. These guys definitely knew what they were doing.

Well, hopefully they'd soften the Arkbird II up for you. Then again, if you hit afterburner, you might be able to beat them to the punch...

Strider Squadron rains fire down on the Arkbird II, knocking out pulse laser turrets and further damaging the engines. The rear of the craft was now leaking large clouds of ugly black smoke as more and more drones were being ejected from the launch ports.

Finally, Strider is forced to break off from their attack run as the drones get too thick for even them to deal with. However, you do note that their leader, Trigger, the Three Strikes himself, was every bit as fearsome as the stories suggested. Even the boosted Raven drones couldn't seem to touch him as he effortlessly weaved around their attacks.

Well, that mean there was another opening for you to strike at the Arkbird II. The engines had already taken a beating but the damn thing was still airborne! Maybe you should start focusing your attack somewhere else...

"Swallow, do you think you can spot where the control center might be?" You ask your assistant AI.

"ANALYZING." Swallow buzzes. "LIKELY LOCATION OF AI CONTROL CENTER WILL BE IN THE CENTER OF THE CRAFT WITH 98% CONFIDENCE."

"Nice job!" You grin. Looks like you had a target now!"

"DANGER! TARGET LOCK!" Swallow warns.

It's then that you see a flash and you instinctively dive. A massive, purple beam blasts by you, lancing straight through the sky.

"What the hell was that!?"

"I've never seen a laser that big!"

"What the hell was it shooting at?!"

Damn, looks like the Arkbird II was breaking out the big guns. Literally!

It was going to be a lot tougher getting close to this thing now. Meanwhile, even while slowed, the massive aircraft was slowly limping its way towards Dinsmark, slowly but surely...

"That's a serious problem" Bandit scowls.

Meanwhile, it looked like Strider Squadron had also pulled back for the moment.

"I-It looks like their Strategic Laser System has an anti-aircraft function!" Brighteye stammers. "Stand by, we're analyzing its capabilities!"

Meanwhile, the Arkbird II continued on its way northwards.

"This thing is going to reach the second air defense line in five minutes!" Grun Lead warns. "That laser is going to wipe them out once it's in range!"

"We don't have time to wait for analysis!" You grunt as you accelerate back towards the Arkbird II. "We already know it can use that bigass laser so we just have to account for it!"

However, with the withdrawal of Strider, that was allowing the Arkbird II to refocus its defenses your way. Already, the sky is lit up with azure pulse laser bolts as Raven drones were moving in to intercept. Already, you could tell they were homing in for you, probably still remembering you were the one carrying the EML.

"Everyone cover me! I'm going in!" You call out.

"Again?!" Vicky groans.

"I hope you know what you're doing." Bandit says grimly.

"Leave it to us!" MIsono assures you.

You look on ahead. Easily at least a squadron of Ravens was standing between you and the Arkbird II. This wasn't going to be an easy feat. Hopefully your Wyvern would be up to it. You could try to use its maneuverability to get around them, but the Ravens were plenty maneuverable themselves. An EML shot could scatter them, but you'd have to stay flying straight for a brief second, which would be all these drones needed to get a bead on you.

Your shot hits straight and true, your EML round smashing directly into the laser lens and shattering it like a glass ball.

Suddenly, the Arkbird II turns sharply, and its remaining engines flare up and burn brightly, the plating around them glowing red hot as if on the verge of melting.

"T-the Arkbird II is picking up speed!" Brighteye stammers. "It looks like its dumping all the energy dedicated to lasers straight into its engines!"

"What's it's course?!" Bandit asks.

"Calculating-" Brighteye pauses. "Oh no, it's headed directly towards the Belkan Federal Hall! It looks to be some sort of suicide attack!"

"Those bastards! Are they trying to destroy our own soil again!?" You hear Grun Lead cry.

"Well we need to stop it!" You exclaim. "Can anybody form up on me?"

"No good! All squadrons are currently tied up!" Brighteye reports.

"You've still got us!" You hear Count exclaim as Strider Squadron finally regroups. "Can't let you be the only suicidal dumbass here, right?"

"I-I'm here too!" Vicky says as her frighteningly banged up looking Gripen forms up on you. "We'll do this together!"

Up ahead, the Arkbird II was already passing over the second air defense line. SAM sites began launching missiles at the approaching craft as pulse lasers and the remaining point defense drones unleashed walls of interception fire.

"Doesn't look it's stopping." One of the Strider pilots remarks. "What's it going to take to put that thing down for good?"

"Trigger, you got any ideas?" Count wonders.

There's a brief pause until Strider's F-22 hits afterburner, accelerating rapidly after the Arkbird II.

"Looks like he's on to something!" Count laughs.

And that's when you get an idea. You see the launch tubes lined across the Arkbird II's back. Those had to be structural weakpoints, especially if they had to open to launch additional drones or missiles. You just needed to time your attack to hit one of the tubes while it was open! Simple!

However, it seemed like Strider had different ideas as the actually dove down towards the Arkbird II's underbelly.

"Swallow! Any idea how we can get the tubes on the Arkbird II's back to open up?" You ask.

"THE MOST EFFICIENT OPTION WOULD BE TO FLY CLOSE AND FORCE IT TO DEPLOY DEFENSIVE MEASURES." Swallow points out.

"T-that's something I can do!" Vicky offers.

Vicky, to her credit, manages to dodge the storm of pulse laser fire coming her way as her Gripen makes a low pass over the Arkbird II, lobbing missiles at any possible target she can find.

And just as predicted, you see the firing ports on the back of the Arkbird II open in response. You pull the trigger and fire your EML. The angle isn't ideal, but hypersonic slugs generally didn't care about minor things like angles, and your EML shot punches straight through one of the open ports, causing secondary explosions within.

Seems like Strider also hit their mark, as additional explosions rock the bottom the Arkbird II, and the entire craft seems to be falling apart!

There's cheering on the radio at the apparent victory, until Brighteye suddenly interrupts.

"W-wait, this isn't right!" Brighteye stammers. "It's not breaking up! It's separating!"

Sure enough, you see the front third of the Arkbird II neatly separate from the rest of its body. Hidden rocket boosters engage and the final stage of the Arkbird II accelerates towards its target.

"Speed increasing rapidly! At this rate it will reach Dinsmark in one minute!" Brighteye warns.

"You have to be kidding me!" Vicky wails.

You Wyvern lurches forward, the whole craft becoming a grey and red blur as it pushes itself to its limits.

"WARNING. EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE RISING TO UNSAFE LEVELS." Swallow warns.

"Just a little more!" You grunt, the G-forces almost crushing you into your seat.

In your cockpit view, you can see the detached forward section of the Arkbird II growing larger, but this gain would only be for a few more seconds before its acceleration would outpace yours. It was now or never!

You pull the trigger and your EML fires. There's a flash of light and you see the Arkbird II's rocket boosters flicker and flare out as your EML shell scores a direct hit, shredding the back half of it off and sending the rest tumbling back towards Earth.

Vicky and Trigger then swoop in to follow up, unleashing the last of their missiles into the tumbling forward section, completely blowing it apart before it could risk impacting Dinsmark's outer city limits, barely only a few miles away at this point.

However, the drones, which seemed to be running on their own independent programming rather than a control network, were still active, and they were angry. Immediately, your radar showed numerous contacts making a beeline towards you, Vicky and Trigger.

And you knew that at this point, none of you were in any ideal condition for a massive dogfight. Your Wyvern was practically half melted, the EML practically useless now that it was overheated. Vicky and Trigger looked to be out of missiles and had picked up a bit of damage, as well.

"Y-you better get to safety, Red!" Vicky tells you. "I'll hold them off!"

"We're sticking together!" You tell her. "If we're going down we're gonna go down swinging together!"

"R-Red." Vicky gasps.

Trigger also silently forms up with you, as well. Looks like he didn't have any intention of running away, either. Well, you at least had to respect him for that.

However, as you prepared for the imminent onslaught of the Raven drones, your glorious stand is suddenly interrupted by a volley of missiles and pulse laser bolts, shredding into the formation.

"What the-!?" You blink as a huge contact suddenly appears on radar.

Out of the clouds, the Gullinbursti emerges, spitting missiles and laser fire. You see a very familiar F-15 and A-10 plowing into the swarm of Ravens, tearing through the ranks like a scythe.

"Should've figured you'd be the mercenaries that got hired." You sigh.

"Good to see ya too!" Lara laughs heartily.

"You're welcome!" Amy says smugly.

"Well, we gotta do something to earn our pay now that you've done all the work already!" Sam explains over the radio. "Plus we had to analyze a bunch of data Karla sent over regarding the Ravens' flight behaviors, courtesy of a certain rogue pilot."

Huh, guess you had something to thank Annelise for, after all of this.

By this point, the rest of the airborne coalition, including Bandit and Misono, finally managed to catch up, and between them and the fresh reinforcements from Wild Card Security, the last of the Raven drones are finally mopped up.

"Good job, LRSSG!" Brighteye says happily. "Sorry to cut your celebration short, but Belka's already asking you leave their airspace now that the threat has been dealt with..."

"Yeah yeah, we get it." Count replies. "C'mon, Trigger. We've can party back home!"

Trigger flies off to form up with his fellow Osean pilots, but not before he gives a respect tip of his wing as he passes by.

"So... it's finally over?" Vicky sighs.

"Seems like it." You sigh in relief as well.

"Good job, you two." Bandit adds. "I'm proud of all of you."

"Ha, nice to hear that, Boss." You chuckle.

"This is a great victory for all of us!" Misono is almost giddy with delight.

"So what happens now, Boss?" You ask as you glance at the smoldering wreck of the Arkbird II, scattered all over the Belkan countryside like an ugly black scar.

"Head back to the base and get some sleep, for starters." He says simply.

"Was... was that a joke?" You snort. "Did you seriously just try to make a joke?"

"No, I'm really just that tired." Bandit grunts. "If you mean in the larger scheme of things? Well, that remains to be seen. But I doubt Neo One Belka or even Grunder are going to bounce back from this."

Well, you can only hope.

"Anyways, it's mission accomplished." Bandit reminds you all. "Let's go home."

For once, you're really glad to hear him say that.

"Red, stop tugging at your collar." Bandit chides as he bats her hands away from your neck.

"But this damn monkey suit is really fucking itchy!" You groan. "Couldn't I have just worn the regular dress uniform?"

"It's Belkan tradition." Bandit grunts. "Unless you're willing to throw away all your principles over an itchy neck?"

"Fine, fine, I get it." You grumble. "I mean, always dreamed of becoming a Belkan Knight, you know? I just never figured it would come about so soon."

"Life usually doesn't go how we planned, for better or for worse." Bandit remarks as he does the final check on your royalized dress uniform.

"And you're the first Belkan to be knighted since the Belkan War!" Karla chuckles as she finally finishes tying up your hair into a more dignified looking royal braid. "This is quite the occasion!"

"So, do I like, get a castle or something?" You muse as you step in front of the mirror, finally getting a good look at your prettied up form.

"Modern knighting isn't quite the same as how it was done in ancient times." Bandit explains. "You will receive a permanent pension from the government, and will be allowed to create and bear your own personal crest. You will also be eligible for membership into any existing knightly orders or royal institutions."

"Huh, that's nice, I guess." You nod. "Wonder if everybody came?"

"I don't see why they wouldn't." Karla laughs as she pats your shoulder. "I personally made sure Lara, Amy and Lilian would come!"

"And it seems many of the acquaintances we made in the IUN are attending as well, if the guest list is anything to go by." Bandit adds.

"What about Annelise?" You ask. Last you heard, she was still in a detention facility, a low security one at least, until it was certain it would be safe to let her back into society.

"I pulled some strings. She's been allowed to temporarily leave the facility, as long as she's supervised." Bandit notes. "So she'll be here."

"Awesome!" You grin. "Feels like things are looking up, huh?"

"Shooting down the Arkbird II has certainly improved Belka's image internationally, at least." Karla nods. "But we're still going to have to stay vigilant. There's always going to be somebody in the shadows looking to ruin everything. Gotta stay vigilant."

"That's what we're here for!" You grin. "I don't plan on stopping flying any time soon!"

"I feel better already!" Karla laughs until her ears perk up at the sound of muffled horns in the next room over. "That's your cue! Don't screw this up!"

Karla than gives you a light shove towards the large, ancient medieval door as it creaks open. On the other end, you could see a room full of onlookers, both familiar and stranger. People from all sorts of nations and walks of life.

To one side, all of your fellow pilots. Next to them, you also see some of the surviving Belkan Knights and even a few famous Belkan War veterans, the Professor among them. On the other, you see many civilians and foreign emissaries. Shockingly enough, even the Princess is among them!

And for everybody else not present, you caught sight of the dozens of cameras recording everything.

Everybody was waiting.

You weren't certain what was going to happen after this. Maybe Belka will never be whole again. Maybe you'll never live to see it happen. But seeing everybody all in this room at once, happily celebrating the moment? Yeah, you'd be happy with just that.

You glance behind you, and see Karla waving for you to go forward, while Bandit actually gives you a very casual thumbs up.

Well, whatever happened after this, you were going to face it as Belkan Knight...

...after the destruction of the Arkbird II, both Belka and Osea increased their efforts to eradicate the last traces of the Gray Men and their legacy. Numerous terrorist cells were rounded up in the initial raid that triggered the launch of the Arkbird II, as well as in subsequent operations. The entire executive board for Grunder Industries was also dissolved and the company itself is in the process of an aggressive restructuring. Whether the corruption that has plagued the company since the end of the Belkan War has been purged or not, remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Belka has enjoyed a sudden surge in positive opinion worldwide. Numerous embassies have been opened with countries Belka had never associated with before. Belka has even opened diplomatic ties with its breakaway regions, even if their efforts have been met with cool skepticism. While it is too soon to tell, this may be the beginning of a new age for Belka.

As for the pilot that has seemingly acted as a catalyst for these events? As of the writing of this story, she's still flying those unknown skies, her red tail streaking like a comet to all those to who dare gaze upon her...

ERWIN

Despite escaping Belkan custody, Erwin was one of the many Belkan conspirators arrested by Osean authorities when Grunder Industries HQ was raided. At the time, he and his compatriots voluntarily surrendered, absolutely certain that the Arkbird II's launch meant victory was assured.

However, those efforts were dashed thanks in no small part to Raven Squadron and their allies. With no leverage, Erwin and his conspirators were swiftly tried and thrown into Osean prison. While Belka has issued numerous extradition requests, Osean has refused to release Erwin from their custody.

PRINCESS COSSETE
As part of their new diplomatic outreach efforts, the Belkan government granted Princess Cossete honorary Belkan citizenship and even offered asylum in Belka as royalty in exile. However, the Princess politely declined and returned to the International Space Elevator to oversee the refugee colony she set up there, determined to help others regardless of her political situation or social status.

AVRIL MEAD
Avril remained with the IUN as a mechanic for a little while longer, but eventually decided to pursue her own interests and dreams. She's since become a freelance mechanic, traveling the world to improve her knowledge and craft. Rumors say she's trying to assemble the funds and parts necessary to rebuild a wrecked F-104 Starfighter, though nobody could really say why.

DR. SCHROEDER
Dr. Schroeder was an instrumental witness and informant, providing vital intelligence to Osean authorities that gave them the evidence they needed to dismantle Grunder Industries. Afterwards, though, he completely disappeared from the public eye. Some say that he was assassinated, while others say he was put into a witness protection program or snapped up by another company for clandestine research work. Whatever the case, it cannot be debated that Dr. Schroeder's skills are extremely valuable in this new age of technology.

MIHALY
While Mihaly was officially listed as killed in action during the Lighthouse War, rumors persisted of a man matching his description being seen in the Space Elevator refugee colony. Fighter pilots from all nations have made trips there, as a sort of pilgrimage to try and catch even a glimpse of the legendary ace. However, the rumors go that only a truly worthy pilot will ever earn that opportunity.

ORPHEUS SQUADRON
Despite being unable to score any solid damage on the Arkbird II itself, Orpheus Squadron did come away with the distinction of scoring the most aerial kills out of any other squadron involved in the operation, which is not small given that the squadron only consists of two members. However, despite their total number of kills being confirmed, both Angela and Alanna could not come to an agreement of which of them scored the majority of the kills. It is a debate that continues to last to this day.

Afterwards, both Angela and Alanna returned to Ustio as heroes, and served as the core of Ustio's small but well respected air force. While relations between Belka and Ustio have warmed to an extent, both countries have still made efforts to posture to each other, and it's become a common sight to see Orpheus Squadron taking flight to ward away Belkan patrol craft testing their borders.

After being taken into custody by Belkan authorities, it was determined that Annelise was manipulated by Grunder Industries and was not fully responsible for her actions as "END". As a result, all charges against her were dropped and her records were sealed in an effort to give her a fresh start.

By Karla's request, Annelise was put under Karla's care as her legal ward. Not only did this allow someone trusted to keep a close eye on Annelise, but it also provided Elisa with a big sister that she could bully.

She's currently in the process of applying for a pilot position in the Belkan Air Force, though she has made it clear that she does not want to be placed in the same squadron as Milly. Perhaps a bit of her competitive spirit still remains...

However, given remaining tensions between Erusea and its rebelling breakaway regions, Misono was immediately given the task of building Selatapura's own air defense force, so that the city-state would never suffer the humiliation of occupation by a foreign power ever again.

In the meantime, Selatapuran authorities vehemently deny any connection to the rumors of a lone F-15J intervening in the numerous Erusean civil conflicts in their breakaway territories.

Despite never applying for Belkan citizenship and remaining a foreign guest to Belka, the government decided to extend several exceptions to her status due to the part she played in the destruction of the Arkbird II.

This has made Vicky something of a curiosity among Belkan gossip circles and paparazzi, especially since she's almost never seen apart from Milly. When asked about the veracity of these rumors, Vicky has always furiously denied them, even if her denials come off as somewhat unconvincing.

After dropping of the radar for some months, the pair eventually resurfaced under the employ of Wild Card Security as its latest mercenary hires. Bandit and Sofia quickly became a wing pair, taking up the name "Espada".

>And that's it for Unknown Sky! A deep thank you to everybody who's stuck with this quest and ride all the way to the end!
>As for what is happening next, I'm planning to take a week or two off to relax, but I already have a new quest planned and ready to go!
>However, I'm going to try something a bit new, so the next quest won't be running on /qtg/, but on fiction.live!
https://fiction.live/stories
>I know it's a pretty BIG change, but I do want to give the site a shot since it does have some pretty interesting features. I hope you all will give the site, or at least the next quest, a chance!
>Remember, the best place to keep up to date on my questing status is to keep an eye on my Twitter. Other than that, hope you see you there when it starts!

Excellent time merc. My regret is we didn't get to see the Anschluss vote to re-unite with South Belka that was coming up. Although the outcome really isn't in doubt. Assuming we don't have to deal with Freddie trickery in stage .Of Milly's reunification plans :v
