The day humanity took to the stars was a day of hope. The Earth had become inhospitable, and it was time to find a new planet to reside. We rallied behind a man who had opened up the universe to us, a new Emperor to lead humanity into the vast expanse of space. All possibilities were opened that day. The stars didn't look any bigger, but instead looked so much brighter. With countless fleets at our side, and a desire in our heart, we held hands and took that first step together into the great unknown. All of humanities petty squabbles had come to an end. Now, we were one force with one common goal. Home. The day that will live on in every history book.

Centuries have passed, and that peace lives only in history. The last Emperor is gone, and the search for a fully habitable planet continues. The Unity of humanity is broken, torn apart by anger and differences in philosophy. Three main fleets served as the new banners, the new Kingdoms in the Stars.

Camelot, the regal and militaristic, rallied behind their Queen Julia Porter.

Athens, the diplomatic and innovative, rallied behind their President Apollo.

Shinto, the traditional and battle-hungry, rallied behind their Chieftain Sun Boros.

Unaffiliated ships are known as the Han. Most who choose to fly in the dangers of open space with no alliance to a fleet do so in control of the criminal underbelly of humanity, operating outside of man's law.

This is the future we have afforded ourselves. The stars appear larger than they did that day, but with time they have dulled.

“Surpriiiiiiiiiise~!”

Lacey’s words startle the rotund man with circular black glasses. Or more accurately, her voice sends fear into his heart. Her former manager, an employee of Kingpin Dong, Mr Nishimura lost his sight at the expense of Lacey’s freedom from being a pawn in the criminal underground. Hearing that voice again almost sends the now blind man into convulsions, and he instinctively moves to his knees in a begging stance.

“Y-you…!” He exclaims, leaning towards the source of the voice, a dark alley aboard the NOAH. “P-p-please don’t…!”

“Aw, why so scared?” Lacey asks. “I wanted to ask a favour! And you have all those big connections, don’t you?”

“Y-yes!”

“Cool!” She claps her hands. “Super-duper! I want you to get me into the head palace for a super secret show that’s actually a distraction to break out my friends! Actually, I don’t think I needed to tell you that part… forget it!”

“And… and if I don’t?”

Lacey puts a finger to her chin. “Well… I hadn’t thought of that. I suppose… I’d be very disappointed.”

Mr. Nishimura gulps. He’ll never deny that request.

>Some time later

“Ladies and Gentlemen… to celebrate the victory of Kingpin Dong over the would-be Galactic Emperor, we have a show in store. Please welcome, returning to the stage after some much needed behavioural therapy… the one, the only… Lacey Electronica!”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8dmq5YIUoc

Lacey takes the stage before the private audience within the palace that once belonged to the Shao family. Before her lies a swath of some of the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy, in the belly of the beast… and at the end, sitting on Marco Shao’s throne is Kingpin Dong.

His recent bride, Sun Si, stands by the throne, he head low as she tries to remain a professional composure.

“Now, isn’t this something!” Dong laughs, taking a bite out of a greasy rack of lamb, the juices spilling down his face and lingering on his beard. He takes a swig of beer before looking to Si. “Exciting isn’t it? We stand here at the top of the galaxy, aren’t you glad I chose you?”

Si gives a silent nod, feigning respect.

“Of course,” Dong replies. “I would have preferred a younger sister…”

Si’s face twists in disgust… and the giant bodyguard of Dong, LB, even glares at his master.

“Thank you all for being here!” Lacey exclaims as she continues her dance. “What a joyous celebration this is! Lacey Electronica here, and I… LOVE… YOU!”

With one last blast of bass from the speakers… everything goes dark.

“WHAT?!” Dong exclaims, fearful in the dark. Si feels his hard hand grab her arm tightly. “WHO TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS?!”

After a moment, power is restored. The performing idol is missing, as Akam arrives to report to his leader. “Seems there was an outage, power around the palace was shut off for a brief moment.”

Dong’s eyes widen, his grip still firmly on the arm of his reluctant bride. “Then that means?”

“The prisons, yes…” Akam Rezar replies. “No worry, sir. I have contacted Gallows, Tallahassee and Maribelle in order to round up the stragglers.”

Dong pauses, then lets out a belly laugh, throwing his head back. “See? Always one step ahead! My dear snake, this is why we WIN.”

>At the prisons
“Now!”

You and Kilroy burst from your prison as the power dampening cuffs lose their effect. Removing them, Kilroy looks almost euphoric. “Ah… finally…”

“How does it feel?” you ask.

“The sweetest relief…” Kilroy smirks, taking great pride in his powers. “Picture if you were a tree, your branches cut off before they could grow to their fullest potential. And then… you find yourself released, able to expand to your heart’s content.”

“Crooks would say it’s like not being able to piss for a week then finding a bucket,” you reply.

Kilroy looks at you. “And… for good reason, that’s not the metaphor I used. Now, come on. Stay behind me.”

You get moving. “Where are you taking me?”

Kilroy shakes his head. “Marco still isn’t freed. I know for a fact he’s being held somewhere else. But Connery should be around here, we’ll need that old butlers help. He knows the palace better than anyone.”

You nod. “Okay, do you know where his cell is?”

Kilroy chuckles. “Of course not. He’s still not first order of business, Matthew. I’m taking you to the security room.”

“The… what?” you ask.

Kilroy throws his head back. “We’re going to find the surveillance footage of your break-in… and find out who betrayed you.”

You pause. “I…”

“If there’s a traitor in our midst,” Kilroy glares back at you. “I will have to deal with them, won’t I?”

… Deal with them?

Maribelle… Archie… Dot… Krista… maybe even Crooks?

… You can’t believe that one of them should be… dealt with.

“More of that music, Major?”

“Got a problem?” Daizee Danger asks while she sits in the pilots chair, the new major Jane Cassidy seated beside her.

“Do you have any honest idea how loud it is?” you ask, remaining your composure. Danger has been an annoying thorn in your side for a while now, but you refuse to give into her constant poking and prodding while you’re forced to endure her company.

Danger laughs. “What’s wrong? Is it interrupting your lovemaking with ensign Daniels? Or was it ensign Kazarian? So many women, you are insatiable, sir. I dread us joining with General Von Beck and introducing you to all those bridge bunnies.”

“I may not be your direct superior, but you are still subordinate to me,” you reply. “Learn to voice some respect for a General, or you’ll never reach this rank yourself.”

Daizee is quick to ignore you, and turns to Major Cassidy. “Jane, pass me the hand mirror. It’s stored in the compartment right above you.”

>Major Cassidy, you are not an assistant. Major Danger can work on her vanity without your help.

>Major Cassidy, you are not an assistant. Major Danger can work on her vanity without your help.

Danger shakes her head. "Sure, this ship's sailing smoothly anyway."

She reaches up, leaning across the co-pilots chair. Major Cassidy seems to be slightly uncomfortable by her colleagues body closeness, but Danger quickly manages to grab the mirror and return to her chair. She opens the mirror up, revealing the reflective frame along with an enclosed picture, engraved into the case.

"A holo-image engraved into metal?" you ask. "Unexpectedly sentimental. Did you steal that mirror from someone else?"

"It's mine," she replies. "What, you think I'm free of sentiment or something? I'm sentimental! I watch mushy movies!"

The engraved image seems to be that of a man in a dinner booth, smiling and laughing over a banana and ice-cream based dessert.

"Cé hé?" Cassidy asks.

"Hm?" Daizee raises an eyebrow. Cassidy understands the common language, but doesn't speak it. Only in written form. Quite the odd woman.

Cassidy points at the man in the picture, and Daizee nods. "Ah... that's an old friend of mine. Adam Reso. We were like a pair of thieves... no offence Jane. We were inseparable since we were kids... until... well..."

"What?" you ask.

Daizee returns to the controls after fixing her long brown hair. "His mom got into an accident, lost her legs... and since she wasn't a bigshot general she didn't have a free pass to a shiny metal replacement. She couldn't work anymore, Adam needed to raise money and... he fell in with a bad crowd."

"Didn't you both?" you remark. "Your record shows you worked under Kingpin Dong for a time."

"I was a damn good smuggler," she replies. "And Jane was a damn good thief, weren't you?"

Shyly, Jane Cassidy gives a nod and a thumbs-up."

You shake your head in disgust. "I'm sitting in a cockpit with two criminals. The fact that naive hearted fool Galahad allowed you both to attain the rank of Major is a disgrace."

Daizee pauses. "... It's easy for you to say that. You never had to make that choice. You're the upper class elite of Camelot. Always have been. You never had to resort to that stuff to survive."

>You honestly believe I've never struggled? Danger, don't insult me.

>You honestly believe I've never struggled? Danger, don't insult me.

"Uh-huh," Daizee rolls her eyes. "Big broody boy is gonna lecture us about how tough he's had it. First he had to be raised in one of the richest homes in all of Camelot, then he got promoted to top of the military in record time... but oh, he did get hurt by being a complete reckless idiot! I'm sure that counts for something!"

"You don't know my life," you reply. "You don't know how I was raised-"

"Galahad was raised the same way," Daizee responds. "How come he's not a dick? I've seen how you treat him. You're supposed to be foster brothers, right? But oh! When somebody talks smack back to a bully snob like you, you're sure to act like a pissy little baby. Every problem you've ever had was your own. You're no victim, General. You're a jackass."

You glare at the woman. "Major Danger, I hope to never have the displeasure of speaking with you again."

Daizee sighs. "Sure, whatever..."

As you turn to leave, she lets out a "I'm sorry about your leg..." but you don't listen, you carry down through the main hold where you bump into your own direct Major.

"Major Bates," you nod to Alexa.

"You look to be in a foul mood," she responds. "Another argument with the pilot?"

You shake your head. "She may be the single most insufferable person I've ever met."

Alexa shrugs. "You're the one who lets her antagonise you so much. You practically seek out a fight with her. What were you even in the cockpit for?"

"Well, I-"

"Giving commands?" she asks. "Gawain, you're not in charge on this mission. I know that bothers you, but you're only more highly strung when you should be relaxing and clearing your thoughts."

You let out a deep exhale. "Where is Major Lynch?"

"She and Galahad are having lunch, I believe." Alexa turns to a coffee pitcher in the hold. "It's quite cute. Do you care for some lunch yourself? I can tell when you haven't eaten, and I have some spare porridge? One of my grandmother's recipe. You know how they bring good luck."

>I should get going. No time for lunch.

"Oh..." Major Bates looks disheartened. "Geez... does anyone actually eat around here. All to busy, huh..."

You press on away from Bates and track down Major Lynch and General Galahad. The pair seem to be laughing at a table, Galahad sharing some amusing story, before you approach.

"Ah, G-general!" Linda blushes and bows, stumbling over herself. "Galahad and I were enjoying a nice meal, care to join-"

"Both of you, we should be making contact with General Von Beck," you reply. "Not slacking off."

Galahad smiles. "Well, I thought there wasn't any rush. A daily update isn't all that important when we have no news to share."

You scowl. "A lack of diligence. Were I running this operation, you wouldn't see this lackadaisical attitude that allows your subordinates to grow INsubordinate."

"Are you okay?" Galahad asks. "You seem to be in a bad mood. Worse than usual, even."

You don't answer. "Get to the hold and make the call."

"Should I finish our-" Linda begins, but she quickly scurries out of her chair when you look in her direction.

As Galahad stands, he turns to you while nobody else is looking. "Okay, okay... I know you want to keep it secret from the rest, but I can't help myself."

The young general hands you a small box. "Happy birthday, Gawain."

"You shouldn't have," you reply.

"I insist-"

"No, I didn't want you to," you reply. He knows better than anyone how adverse you are to celebrating such an event. His pathetic sentimentality still takes over year after year, and you're the one to suffer for it.

"You don't have to open it now," Galahad responds. "And I won't tell the others."

>You best not... I knew I shouldn't have bought you that ornament last year.

Galahad smiles. "I still appreciate that, you know. It was a nice elephant teapot."

You turn away. "You were always interested in extinct creatures of the old world. You would never shut up about it, how could I forget?"

Galahad laughs to himself. "Of course, of course... anyway, I don't think you have to worry about unwanted attention to your birthday. I think you might be a little upstaged."

"Upstaged?" you raise an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

You get your answer when the meeting in the hold begins.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Daizee Danger is giddy with surprise as the rest of the ship's inhabitants present her with gifts and a cake.

... So, you and that woman share a birthday?

Just another reason to despise this date.

"Thank you, thank you?" Daizee bows as she accepts her gift. "Of course, I didn't do it alone. It was a team effort. I'd like to thank my father, and whatever woman shot me out of her cervix before abandoning us. They had great hustle. It was touch and go, but they managed to have the best damn offspring twenty-six years and counting!"

You sigh. "We should contact General Von Beck," you remind Galahad.

"Of course," Galahad replies. "But let's not cut the celebration short, okay?"

You have no hesitation towards cutting the celebration short, heading to the communicator and contacting Von Beck.

She's quick to answer, a holographic image of her rising from the communicator. "Gawain, where is Galahad?" she immediately asks.

"He is not the only General on board," you reply.

Janna sighs. "He is the only General on board who isn't currently being re-evaluated, Gawain. We have you best interests at heart, please do not force yourself into this role."

Galahad enters the frame, addressing Von Beck. "General Von Beck, not much to update. As estimated, we'll be joining you and the rest of the forces within the next 24 hours."

"Good to hear," she replies. "Contact me with any changes, otherwise I will see you there. General Galahad... we should have a private meeting regarding our plans after reuniting. General Gawain, I suggest you get some rest."

You cross your arms. "Von Beck, I-"

"Direct order from the Queen," Janna informs you. "She's worried about you."

The Queen? Worried about you? Your interactions with Queen Julia have been brief... a younger woman, your conversations with her have been short and to the point. Still... the reigning monarch is famously polite and caring... it comes as no surprise that even you are in her thoughts.

You return to your room, embarrassed that you're being left out of such important conversations. You're a general, yet you're being treated with gloves after the last few incidents. Why should you be punished? You were raised to die for your fleet, for your queen... yet your willingness to do so leaves them unsure of you. They should be unsure of everyone else. Criminals, commoners, naive cowards like Galahad... why are they celebrated? Why are you treated as a liability?

As you look over the box Galahad gifted you, the ship's head pilot enters. "Hey," Danger mutters. Is she here to apologise for earlier? You doubt that.

She clears her throat. "You know, two ensigns are having a big argument in the hold."

"Why should that concern me?"

"The argument is over you," she replies. "You've got a... disturbing way with women, buddy boy."

It's then she notices the box. "What's that?"

>Mind your own business, Major. I certainly don't pry into your affairs.

Danger chuckles. "I've been speaking to those ensigns, General. I'm not the one with affairs."

You glare at her, as she shrugs her shoulders. "Come on," she replies. "You have to give me that one. It was good."

You continue to glare, before placing the gift in the drawer by your bedside. "Leave my quarters."

She nods. "Alright, alright... unless you want some company tonight?"

You raise an eyebrow. "What?"

She laughs again. "Just kidding. That one got a rise out of you!"

You place a finger to your temples. You let out an annoyed growl. "Leave me be."

She sighs. "Alright... take care of yourself, okay? Get some actual rest... and gritting your teeth aren't healthy, either."

As she walks off, you hate to admit she's right. You need some sleep. You've deprived yourself of it for too long, attempting to run operations around here, in spite of the other's wishes. You lie back, your eyes heavy, and it doesn't take long for you to fall asleep.

Your dreams are... odd. A stampede of elephants on solid ground, with yourself trapped in pits of tar... sinking ever further.

You awake from a message from the cockpit to head there immediately. As you and Galahad arrive in the cockpit, Danger is at the controls. "Check it our, sir..." she remarks. "Unidentified ship on our two. I did a scan and it's got no registry number."

"Meaning it's one of Dong's ships," you reply. "This is hardly an emergency. Fire it down, you're capable of that aren't you?"

Daizee smirks. "For sure, General. That things only about half as big as whatever's stuck up your ass."

"Wait!" Major Bates calls out. "It's not hounding us!"

"The forces of that monster don't deserve any mercy," you remind her.

"I don't mean that!" she explains. "It's literally not hounding us... it's heading somewhere. We should follow it."

Galahad nods. "Good thinking, Major. It could lead us somewhere interesting... maybe even to the whereabouts of the NOAH."

>And it could lead us into a trap. You honestly think that's worth the risk?

"If it's already in our view," Galahad points out, "Then whatever trap it wants to set has already been prepared, has it not? Better to see where this goes and be ready for anything."

You shake your head. "Ridiculous. Inaction only allows them to corner us like rats. Danger, get firing now."

"Hold that order," Galahad chimes in. "We don't even know for certain if that ship is owned by-"

"It's unregistered," you reply. "It's criminal scum either way."

"No offence, me and Jane..." Daizee rolls her eyes.

Galahad shakes his head. "Gawain, I'm sorry, but we can't jump the gun on this. I... have the final order, and I say we tail them."

"You don't have the final order, and you don't have sense," you reply. "You'll be getting us killed-"

"Cá will sé a dul?" Jane asks, interrupting the both of you.

"Both of you," Linda interrupts, pointing out exactly what Jane sees. "It's heading down... looks like there's a land base down there on that barren rock."

You pause. "There's no land base set up in this are by any fleet..."

A wry smile appears on Daizee's face. "Which means... we just landed on the secret location of Dong's base of operations... before taking the NOAH, of course."

"The amount of information he likely left behind on there..." Alexa notes. "We should head down."

"Waaaaaaaaay ahead of you," Daizee remarks. "If Queen Julia found out we discovered something like this and let it pass, we'd be tried by the royal council."

They're not wrong. This discovery, if it truly is the newly abandoned base of operations for the kingpin... it could turn the tide in the upcoming battle against him. No doubt it will inform you of where the NOAH is.

As Daizee moves down, Galahad is quick to step outside of the cockpit, yourself in tow for a side chat amongst generals. "Gawain, I'm sorry I overruled you like that. We couldn't see eye to eye and... one of us had to pull rank."

A first for Galahad, but pulling rank is something you're no stranger to.

>I was surprised... but you finally had the sense of authority. Keep that up and you'll almost be worthy of your position.

"I... don't think I'll be keeping that up," Galahad admits.

"I know... I know."

Daizee lands you and the rest of the ship's crew on the domed in land base of mystery, in pursuit of the ship.

"Okay..." Daizee replies. "Time to roll out?"

You nod. "Majors, all of you are coming along. We don't know what dangers lie ahead, best to keep up our guard."

Daizee and Jane wait for Galahad to confirm your order. "He's right," he adds. "Let's get moving."

You remove yourself from the ship, floating down the ship with the assistance of your biochip. One benefit of a metal leg, your biochip ability now allows you to carry yourself through the air. As you land on the ground below, Linda scoffs. "You don't have to be such a cool show-off, General!"

You don't reply, already on your guard. "The lights are on in that building. Whoever landed here must be inside. We should try to get the drop on them."

The streets of the former base are sparse. These domed areas on dead planets already are desolate even when populated, but this is... unnerving.

Linda readies her sword and stays close to you. She's afraid, and failing at maintaining her composure.

You enter the building, with your knives at the ready, as you and the recon squad make your way up the steps into a large open area.

"Was this... an office or something?"

"Likely a storage unit..." you remark. "Whoever landed here is probably offloading what remains and bringing it aboard the NOAH."

Daizee looks around. "But, uh... where is the folks who landed here? You'd think they'd notice us... and reacted. It's like nobody was even on that ship. We didn't even see anyone come out."

"It was a small ship," Galahad remarks. "It could just be one messenger who doesn't want to deal with us for all we know."

"Be on your guard," you reply. "It might not just be that one ship. This place seems abandoned, but there could-"

Just as you speak, the wall gives way... and a charging monster comes running towards you. You use your powers to push the others and yourself out of the way, as a mechanical beast rampages through the warehouse, smashing everything in its wake. It must be over ten feet in height, wider than a brick wall... is this an advanced mecha?

"What the fuck is that thing?!" Danger exclaims, gripping her gun.

Before you can muster up a guess, the supposed creature speaks in a garbled electronic voice. "AAAAAAWWWWWWW YEEEEEEAAAAAAH! WE'RE STARTING NOW!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN81n6wN2Xk

What the hell, it's a... person? And... wait. We?

"Look out!" you yell to the group. "There's two of them-"

Before you can speak, a long haired man appears... fazing in from beneath the floorboards behind Major Lynch. He grabs her, and she sinks beneath the floor before the man rises up again without her.

"Linda!" Alexa exclaims. "What did you...?!"

The man is far from normal. Decked out in leather and tight pants, the longed hair man of mystery seems more like a model than a fighter. His response is most bizarre, snapping his fingers and performing a twirl. "YOW!" he yells. "Let's get this party started!"

He throws up a hand signal to the beast before moving back to join his partner.

"Who in the-"

"Allow us to introduce ourselves. The name's Tama. People call me the Bad Boy, and this right here is The Underboss, Fale."

"What kind of names are-" you begin, but Daizee is quick to interrupt.

"No time to talk," she explains. "Kill them now, before they kill us! They're the damn Bullet Club!"

Dong's elite... no surprise. This fight will prove difficult.

That's all for tonight! Will be continuing tomorrow!

“Gawain, share with your brother.”

Every time that word came from Lord Galloway’s mouth, it made you wretch. Brother.

The member of the Royal Council, one of the richest figureheads in Camelot society, Lord Galloway was always considered an odd one. An eccentric. Dubbed the “Shining Wizard” by many, the long bearded elderly man of aft attention was known for his charity. Taking in two babes, bereft of a home during the battles of liberation, he raised two sons to be the perfect knights of Camelot.

You always wished it had been one. You and that other fool have never been equal in skill, yet you remained equal in praise. The wizened old man would shower you both with encouragement all the same. It left a sour taste in your mouth each time. You were better, it was plain to see. You performed better. In training, in school, even in decorum, you had young Galahad beat… yet every time he would receive the same level of recognition. Infuriating.

That night you spend locked up in your room as punishment. He expected you to share your food with Galahad? You threw your plate at the boy. Sure, it was not the most tactful… but Galloway twisted a knife in your ribs by calling you brothers.

You aren’t brothers. Whatever family you could have had are gone, demolished before you could even form a memory of them. Galloway would call you both the future of Camelot, destined to be great heroes born in amidst the flames. The old kook claimed to have even seen it. Merlin Galloway was nothing short of a deluded mad man.

He taught you one important lesson, albeit unintentionally.

He taught you to never worry about what others may think… as you’ll never get your due respect. To seek the love and admiration of others is a waste of time. It’s best to be sure of yourself, and know deep down that you were right.

>Present Day

You are not happy to be right, but you are.

These two clowns… they’re part of the Elite Bullet Club, are they? Well, that should be no problem. Even the elite assassins of Kingpin Dong should be no match for two knights of Camelot. And in fact, one of them happens to have a glaring flaw when matched up with you.

You reach out your hand at the steel bucket mech and concentrate. “Storm Bird!” you announce… but nothing happens. You don’t understand. It’s made of metal… isn’t it?

Tama leans back, placing his hands behind his head in a casual stance, posing to flex his muscles. “Ahh… General Gawain, right? Your metal bending trick isn’t gonna work. This isn’t some jumped up suit The Underboss is wearing, that’s all him baby!”

“All… him?”

Name: Fale
Biochip Class: BAD LUCK FALL

Fale's biochip allows him to create a hardened exoskeleton from his own cartilage, encasing him within an enormous suit of armour. The exoskeleton can also cause severe vibrations, creating miniature fissures wherever it goes.

POWER: A
SPEED: D
DURABILITY: S
PRECISION: E
RANGE: C
POTENTIAL: E

That kind of power…

Tama throws his head back and laughs. “And with my ability, we’re the perfect duo!”

“Yours?” Galahad mutters. “What we just saw…”

Name: Tama
Biochip Class: ROGUE GENERAL

Tama's biochip allows him to faze through solid objects at will. He can travel through floors, walls, ceilings as thick as concrete without any impediment.

POWER: D
SPEED: A
DURABILITY: B
PRECISION: A
RANGE: E
POTENTIAL: B

“So Major Lynch… you dragged her down to the lower floor…” Galahad remarks.

This looks grim. These two have complementing powers, and you’re not sure on how to deal with them…

“Someone needs to head back and grab Major Lynch…” you mutter to yourself, looking to the three majors remaining in the room.

"Major Cassidy!" you call out. "Head downstairs and retrieve Major Lynch!"

Cassidy silently nods and gets moving, as Alexa and Daizee ready their blasters. "I'm gonna smoke them," Major Danger mutters to herself as she points a blaster at Tama.

Galahad readies his sword as you ready your knives... before Fale stomps the ground... causing the floor beneath you to part and open up.

"What the...?" you mutter, as you're seperated from the other three.

"Gawain!" Galahad calls out, but you remain your composure.

"You look familiar..." Tama squints as he looks to Danger. "We ever meet?"

Danger glares, before opening fire. Fale's massive arms completely blocks Tama as the blaster bounces off his exoskeleton.

Smaller projectiles won't work on that thing... damn...

Your knives will be no use against Fale. But his armour can't be completely impenetrable, can it?

"Hoooo baby!" Tama taunts with another dancing twirl. This man is insufferable... "We're the perfect duo, and that's why we're TOOOOOO SWEEEEEET!"

>20 [CRITICAL SUCCESS]

As the ground parts beneath you, you look to the steel beams of the building around you. This could prove a great risk... but you can't allow that Fale thing to rampage without remorse. You reach your hand out... and begin bending the steel bars of the building.

"Gawain?" Alexa looks to you with concern as the building itself begins to twist.

You pull out the supports in the walls, and the ceiling comes crashing down on Fale. The rubble kicks up dust which blinds the vision of the others, but you stay focused. You reach up, and bring even more from the floors above crashing down on the larger enemy, completely burying him beneath the remains.

As the dust settles, Daizee Danger looks to you, her usual cool composure shaken. "Wow... that shit's pretty intense..."

"Fale! Buddy!" Tama calls out to the rubble, but gets nothing in reply. "Oh well... he'll be fine. He's indestructible."

"You aren't," you reply with menace, readying your knives.

Tama nods. "See, funny thing about that is-"

And without finishing his sentence, the man fazes through the floor below. "Dammit..." you mutter.

The floor beneath you shakes, as Bates falls over once the floor turns lopsided. She slides down the slope, with you stopping her descent. You can only remain steady by controlling your leg. "Damn, you did such a good job this whole place is falling around us!" Danger remarks.

"We need to move to safety!" Galahad declares.

"No, we can't let Tama escape!" you and Daizee yell out in unison. You both look to each-other, annoyed that you actually agree on something for once.

You shake your head. "Main goal should be returning to the ship, but I'll track down Tama and take him out. The Bullet Club can't be allowed to roam free in the galaxy."

Galahad sighs. "You can't go alone, it's too dangerous!"

"Not for me-"

"And you're still under evaluation!" Galahad points out. "You'll be stripped of your rank if you act without someone observing you!"

"Major Danger, come with me."

Danger readies her blaster. "Sure thing, hot shot."

Galahad moves with Major Bates, taking her back in the direction of the ship, while you all flee the building as it begins to crumble even further. On the bright side, you can't see Fale escaping that wreckage... but you still don't know the status of Major Lynch and Major Cassidy.

As you and Danger scout around, you speak up. "Have you worked with this pair before?"

"No way," she replies. "They're the worst of the worst. I never did anything like that... I saw them around every now and then, but I was just a smuggler."

"Just?" you almost spit. "Criminal is still criminal."

"And dead is still dead," she replies. "That's what us common folk had to avoid."

You grimace. "Don't play that card. Your poor plight of the common folk."

"You seem to have such a great problem with the common people despite sleeping with one," she replies.

You pause. "What are you-"

"You and Major Bates," she replies. "Doesn't take a genius to notice how they act around you. Funnily enough, I thought at first it was all about you and Linda Lynch. I think she just has a crush, though."

You glare at the pilot. She thinks she has it all worked out, doesn't she? "Don't you dare tell anyone."

"Of course, you have a reputation to-"

"Not for me," you interrupt. "For her reputation. She has enough stigma being in her position from her background, something you don't seem to care about."

She shrugs. "Why would I give a damn about what other's think of me? I made it to the top because I'm the best damn pilot in the galaxy. End of story, right?"

"I..." you begin, before coming across a startling realisation. "I... actually agree."

"Wow, never thought I'd hear those words..." she mutters. "Hey, can I ask you something?"

"No."

"What's your problem with Galahad?"

"So you were just going to ask anyway?" you grimace.

"Pretty much," she responds. "The General's a good friend of mine. I'm kinda like a big sister to him."

"He outranks you."

Daizee lets out a chuckle. "Heh, of course you would only see being a big sister as a kind of rank. I mean because I look out for him... he's pretty naive at times."

"At times?" you remark.

Daizee shakes her head. "Look, I'm just curious. The General loves you like a brother. When I first met you, from what he told me I was expecting something a lot different to... this."

"Underachieving?" Daizee shakes her head. "Tell me, how can you say that about my Gal pal, when I've watched him save your life."

"He'll never use his full potential," you explain.

"And why do you think that?"

"Because he CAN'T."

A silence breaks between the two of you. "Oh..." she nods, understanding. "You mean his biochip. Hey..."

"Just focus on our target."

"Yeah, you should focus!" Tama's voice rings out loud and clear, as he fazes from behind a wall and cuts a pose."Then again, I don't know how you couldn't. Not many can peel their eyes from my studly body."

Tama gyrates his hips as Daizee looks on in disgust. "Oh please, of the three of us here, you're only the second most attractive."

You take offence to that.

>13 [MODERATE SUCCESS]

You fling your knives at Tama, who ducks and weaves out of the way. He seems to have some acrobatic styles, as he avoids your projectiles... unlike simple blaster fire, however, you're free to control the trajectory of the knives as you see fit. Like homing missiles, they stalk the Bullet Club member as he tumbles back and forth... yet never ducks through any of the walls around him. Curious...

Then, when he stands perfectly still and splays his body in a dramatic crucifix pose... you realise why. He's messing with you.

The knives connect... then proceed to faze through him entirely.

"Oh, you look surprised!" Tama smirks.

"Dammit, should have figured!" Daizee curses. "His buddy's indestructible, and he can't be hit! How do you take out people like this?"

Tama chuckles to himself, smug as ever... until a bullet flies through his shoulder from behind. "GAH!" he exclaims, leaping through the nearest wall to avoid the burst of rapid rifle fire.

You look in the direction of the shooting to see the silent Jane Cassidy, with Linda in tow. Jane hops down from her vantage point and rejoins you and Daizee. Linda has a sigh of relief once she sees you. "Captain, I'm glad you're safe."

"Mutual," you calmly reply.

"Nice shooting!" Daizee praises her partner. "And that solves a little mystery, huh?"

You nod. "Yes... it seems he can only faze through something if he's aware of it. If we want to hurt him, it has to be with an attack unseen to him."

"That's not easy," Daizee remarks. "But it at least means this sucker isn't unbeatable. I like it when we're not completely doomed. It's a good feeling."

"And how do you feel about near impossible situations?" you ask.

She chuckles. "Oh, those are my favourite!"

No surprise that the reckless ace pilot is and adrenaline junkie. Still, Tama continues to dip and weave through his area of protection. You need to be able to get the drop on him... but he's just as likely to surprise you and your group.

>16 [DEFINITE SUCCESS]

Daizee and Cassidy open fire on the assassin, who easily allows the assault to faze right through his body. He's so overconfident, he doesn't even notice you holding out your hands to use your biochip.

A thin, long piece of rebar is pulled loose from the building behind Tama, and with a mighty strain, you pull it in your direction. It breaks free, and flies through the air, piercing through the back of Tama's leg and through his knee like a javelin.

Tama lets out a scream of pain. "AAAAGH!" he yelps. "That's my dancing knee! Damn you!"

With the rebar now in his sight, Tama is able to faze through it, meaning he won't be trapped in place. Your attacks still faze through him, but he begins to hobble in retreat towards his ship. Stumbling and collapsing, he eventually falls into the earth... literally. Fazes through the ground and out of sight.

"What? He can do that?" Linda gasps.

"Let him live in the dirt and soil," you remark.

Daizee has a more headstrong approach, blasting the ground beneath her feet. "Come out here, you bastard! We ain't done killing you yet!"

However, as you ready yourself, the ground beneath you begins to shake.

"What the..." Linda mutters.

Cassidy doesn't hesitate to open fire in the direction of the rumbling. The building she fires at soon sees a large burst through the wall... with Fale standing tall once more, letting out a mighty roar in his armour.

"That thing broke out?!" Daizee exclaims.

Fale wastes no time in stomping the earth, causing another fissure between your group. The ground cracks beneath your legs, and you move to one end of the opened up earth. Daizee, however, is caught by an arm coming up from the fissure around her ankle. Tama pulls her in, and she begins to fall.

Without hesitation, you leap in and grab her, being able to levitate your body allowing you to pull yourself and here back to safety. "Thanks..." she mutters, before instantly running after the hobbling Tama as he retreats to his ship.

Linda leaps at Fale but gets swatted away, while Cassidy's rifle fire doesn't scratch the surface of his armour. You pursue Danger as she opens fire in pursuit of the man who tried to take her life... but by the time you reach them the tables have turned.

Seems Tama was hiding a gun of his own, producing it and catching Daizee in the gut. By the time you catch up, he's standing with the blaster pointed at you, with Danger face down on the ground behind him.

"Turn around, or your pilot friend eats dirt," he warns you.

>You can't believe that. You won't be able to harm a hair on her head before I kill you.
>Pull the blaster out of his hand with your Biochip

Without hesitation, you reach out your hand, and Tama's blaster comes flying from his hand. With wide eyes, he looks to you. "Well, that... uhh..."

Tama instantly begins to hobble towards his ship in retreat. You open fire with his own blaster, but of course the shots faze through him. He hops into his ship and speaks over the intercom. "FALE! KILL THEM AND TAKE THEIR SHIP! WE'LL MEET UP ON THE NOAH!"

Dammit... you can't stop him with his ability. But he won't get far. For now, your focus is on the big guy.

"OOOOOOH YEAH!" Fale exclaims through his electronic voicebox. "I'M FEELING IT NOW!"

"Get up Major," you mutter, to no reply. "Major?"

You look back... to see Daizee retreating to her own ship.

"Why are you running?!" you exclaim.

No answer as she continues to flee. Coward. Craven. Criminal.

Whatever, you need to keep your focus. Cassidy is swatted aside, as Fale starts charging towards you. You look to your sides in the hopes of seeing something to pull to your defence. Some rebar... you fling it at Fale, but it simply bounces off him, not even making a dent into his exoskeleton. Dammit, there must be a weakpoint somewhere.

Fale's fist pulls back, as he readies to squash you where you stand...

... Until a blast from the ship's cannons send him flying back.

"Hooo boy!" Daizee's voice comes in over the intercom. "That's how you keep a giant at bay!"

Not only that, but a figure emerges from the ship. Galahad, with his sword.

As he stands by your side, he looks at Fale, then turns his head to you. "Get Lynch and Cassidy back to the ship-"

With a wave of your hand, Cassidy and Lynch are pulled back towards the ship by the metal in the outfits. "What now."

"I'm going to use it," Galahad explains.

He's... no...

"You can't," you reply. "The strain on your heart..."

Galahad looks back to you. "You always tout that a knight must above all else be willing to give their life for their fleet. What are you so adverse to me using my power, then?"

>There's an easier way. I can defeat that thing!

>There's an easier way. I can defeat that thing!

Galahad looks to you. His eyes... they're sad. "No..." he replies. "You can't."

He nods his head, motioning you to go back to the ship. He steps forward towards the rampaging monster, and speaks.

"End of Heartache."

His Biochip activated, Galahad charges at incredible speed. He collides with Fale, and sends him flying upwards. Still, he doesn't crack the armour. Even with his multiplied strength, nothing can crack that armour. Not even the ship's cannons.

But Galahad continues his assault, and you find your chest tightening. He... he may be more powerful than you. This power he holds back... when unleashed...

The two of you have never been equals... but you may have the wrong idea on who the superior one is.

No... you can't allow that. You cannot allow him to make a fool of you.

You cannot allow him to fight alone.

You charge forward pulling up whatever metal you can spot in the wreckage surrounding you. "Galahad, I see your plan."

"Then let's do it."

Galahad spikes Fale into the air, smashing him and moving him ever closer... to the outer reaches of the land base's Dome. You're going to send him out into the unbreathable atmosphere. As Galahad back him up, he clears way, leaving an opening for you. You launch every piece of wreckage towards Fale, his unbreakable exoskeleton colliding and smashing against the glass of the dome... and as established, nothing beats that armour. He breaks through the glass, flying out onto the cold dead planet... as Galahad himself collapses, clutching his chest.

"Dammit..." you mutter, as the ship quickly speeds by. You grab him and hop onto the boarding ramp, and pull yourself inside.

"Are you crazy!" Alexa reprimands you once you enter. "I mean... sir, with all due respect... are you crazy?! You could have killed yourselves with that stunt!"

You pay no heed, as you check on Galahad. He's exhausted... but breathing. With a sharp exhale, you stand up.

"That should take care of that Fale."

"He could just be left waiting for one of his friends to pick him up," Linda replies.

"I don't think so," you respond. "A suit of armour isn't going to let him breathe in a dead atmosphere... and even if it did, it's unknown how long he can keep that exoskeleton up. I imagine not longer than it'd take for his friends to return."

"Speaking of friends..." Daizee steps out with the ship on auto-pilot. "That Tama may have escaped... but Jane was smart enough to place a tracker on his ship while we were separated earlier."

Your eyes widen. "He said he was heading to the NOAH. That means..."

She nods. "Yeah, we just figured out where it'll be."

An update like that requires a call to General Von Beck. Of course, having to wait until Galahad is in speaking form yet again.

"Excellent work... excellent work..." Janna Von Beck notes as she looks over the reports. "Receiving this kind of information... and taking a member of Dong's elite to boot. Quite the accomplishment for a single day, General Galahad. You should be proud."

You hang your head low... of course, he would get the recognition yet again. Just as always...

Galahad is quick to speak up, however. "I'm afraid not, Von Beck..." he explains. "I allowed my squad to wander into a trap. One General Gawain warned me against. I put my crew's health at risk against the advice of a man with... much better judgement. He even was the one who pulled us out of the trap. He should be commended, not I."

>I was simply following my instincts. Nothing more, nothing less.
>It was a group effort. I would be remiss to take all the glory.
>No. Had Galahad followed my advice, we never would have found the location of the NOAH. This is his victory, not mine.

>I was simply following my instincts. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Ah... I see..." Janna nods. "Good work... General Gawain. I expect to see you rejoin us soon after that slight detour."

As Galahad signs off, he gives you a knowing nod and presses on with his duties. He's already up and about after activating his chip. His tenacity is incredible. Then again... if you left him to fend for himself and fight off Fale for even longer... he likely wouldn't be in as safe a condition as he is now.

After Galahad moves on, you're approached by Major Danger. "Yo... thanks for saving me out there," she notes. "Twice, actually."

You remain calm. "How is your wound?"

She pulls up her shirt... rather too high. He avert your eyes as she laughs. "Don't be a baby, you can't see anything."

You dart your eye back to the bandaged wound just under her ribs. "Are you still fit to fly?"

"I could have every bone in my body broken and I'd still be fit to fly," she replies. "Who do you think you're talking to?"

"Fair point," you remark. You turn to leave, but she continues to speak.

"... Adam died, just so you know."

You turn back around. "Who?"

"My friend, who I mentioned earlier," she states. "He died."

"How?"

Daizee loses her usual smirk. For the first time, you see her face form a frown. She bites her lip with hesitation, before explaining. "They asked us to do a job, not just the usual spice smuggling. They wanted us to collect... women, for Dong's personal harem. We had to resort to a lot of crap to feed ourselves and Adam's mom... but we could never do something like that. They... threatened to kill Adam if I refused... I was the one they saw value in as a pilot. I called their bluff... and they didn't even hesitate to pull the trigger. In an instant, I..."

Daizee pauses. "I was far away from them in my ship before I even had the chance to wipe his blood off me. Mrs. Reso never wanted to speak to me again. She blamed me for being a bad influence, said I was responsible for the route her son took."

You shift uncomfortably. "Why are you telling me this?"

Daizee lets out a small chuckle as she shakes her head. "No freakin' idea. I feel like I owe you something, and I hate that feeling. I'd usually buy someone a round of booze but you seem like the type who takes himself to seriously for that. So... I'm sharing."

You don't know what to say. "At ease, Major..." you mutter, unsure. "As much as it pains me to admit it... you're exemplary at your post, despite behavioural issues."

"Oh, you say that to all the girls..." Daizee jokes, before her voice turns softer, and she takes a step forward. Shyly, she speaks. "Well... umm... General, can I admit something to you?"

"Go ahead."

"Well... you see..." she explains, edging closer to your with a reserved face, looking up at you with puppy dog eyes. "I have these... feelings... and I think that... well..."

She moves closer, cornering you as she places her hand against the wall behind you. "I was wondering... if you ever considered... you and I..."

This is unexpected. This is a side of her you've never seen before. Could... she be...

Before you can muster up a response... her damn smirk returns, and she bursts into laughter. "Heh, got you blushing!"

She continues her belly laugh before pointing at you. "Ah, you should have seen the look on your face! You're bright red! Oh, I got you good, didn't I? You were actually believing it!"

"I..." you mutter. "That's not true. I'm not blushing. And don't think you can make a fool out of a General."

"Under evaluati-"

"Not anymore," you smirk yourself. "Now, leave me be."

You should have figured it was an act, joking around like a fool is her primary motivation with you. Still... you see through her claims of it being a simple prank. She instantly wanted to defuse the tension of her story. Daizee Danger is a noted eccentric, a loud mouthed party animal who keeps the levity on full power. She let you into her deeper side for but a brief moment, but was just as ready to hide it again. An interesting one, that pilot.

You return to your room, where Alexa Bates is awaiting in the door-frame. "You okay?" she asks.

"All things considered, yes," you reply. "I feel I don't have to worry about losing my rank."

"That's good..." Bates replies. "You aren't the worst general in the world. I'd hate to be operating under... ugh, Percival."

You nod, and make a move to your room. Bates quickly stops you, and after checking her surroundings, provides you with a quick peck on the cheek. "Happy Birthday, General."

"How did you-"

"You think I wouldn't?" Bates laughs. "Come on. Don't worry, I won't tell the others... Goodnight."

As you return to your room, the words come back to you. Birthday...

You return to your drawer, pulling out the gift from Galahad. You open it at your desk, and look down to see it...

A framed image of two young boys. Both holding up incredibly amateurish paintings of a wizened old bearded man. You shouldn't expect perfection, you were only four years old at the time. But your splotch of paint is barely recognisable as a human figure... you have to admit... Galahad did a better job of capturing Galloway's essence.

Either way, both paintings are captioned the same. An arrow pointing to the wizard, with one simple word.

"Dad".

You exhale some air from your nose sharply. You avoided the Galloway name being attached to yourself, electing solely for "Gawain". Galahad had no reservations, though... and now that snot sends you this?

You can't help but laugh.

Your little brother sure knows how to annoy you.
