Last time, Irene is back with Ellisa, and other "surprises". The first and most awaited, were the eggs of giant eagles, eagerly awaited by you and Lazarus. The next, less pleasant, was Jokul and his group. When he understood who you were, his self-confident character started to fall apart, even if he still tried to keep going when you talked to him in private. After that, you dedicated the whole month to managing your empire, discussing with your friends on what could be improved or created.
During the first days of May, as the birth of your child draw near, you invited Titania through Luna, and she arrived only a couple of days later with Ruriska, Talion and Illsevel, on top of Rimmirra.

Today you are on the ramparts of the castle, taking a morning walk. Titania is with you, as well as Silviana just behind you. Irene and Talion also accompany you, a little further behind, leaving you space so that you do not concentrate on the fact that they are escorting you. Whenever you pass by guards, they stand at attention and salute, staying motionless until all of you passed them, an obvious mark of respect and discipline. For now, you are discussing with Titania about Rimmirra.

>"Are you sure you don't want to tell my why you want to have a talk with him ? I could help." Titania replies.

You feel a contraction, they are more and more frequent, and the healers warned you that the delivery is near. Titania seems concerned and Silviana get closer to you.

>"Are you alright Freya ? Do you want to go back inside and sit down ?" she ask you.

Another contraction hits you, this one was a little more painful than usual . . . Then you get this strange feeling. Could this be the moment ? Are you going into labour ? Then again, it's not the first time you are feeling like this those past few days. You do your best to not show your discomfort and slight pain.

You do you best to stay calm, and decide to go see the healers, better safe than sorry. Everyone goes with you, preferring not to leave you alone. When the caregivers are called and you are seated, they begin to examine you, asking you the usual questions, but they do not agree on what to do, as always with men of science, they start getting into a heated argument. However, while they are discussing on the correct course of action, the contractions are becoming more painful and the time between each of them decreases. You try do stay as dignified as possible, but you are breathing heavily. Is that it ? Are you really going to give birth ? Maybe it nothing, but what if ? Is it going to hurt ? You should have asked your mother, now you have a thousand thoughts and questions in mind and no answers.
Suddenly, you feel a sharp pain, Silviana is the first to notice, but she stops before speaking when she looks at you, Irene, followed by Titania and Talion also take notice. Your dress slowly become wet, a liquid is slowly pooling.

>"I-I think her water just broke." Silviana says.

The healers are still so focused on their argument that they didn't hear her.

>"OY ! YOU STUPID EGGHEADS, YOUR EMPRESS JUST HAD HER WATER BROKE !" Irene shouts.

The whole room explodes in a commotion worthy of a battlefield, the healers hasten to come to your side, others run in the corridor, shouting orders to the servants and the guards. The most urgent thing is to bring you to your room, once it has been done, (with the greatest care) you tell Irene to go get Lazarus. Right now you are laying on your bed, nurses and midwives are ready around you, for your well being and calm, all the healers were kindly invited to stay in the corridor, you asked Emelyne to be there, she is now ready to use a healing spell, just in case. While you are waiting, there is a loud noise coming from the hallway.

The loud noise is getting closer and closer with each passing seconds, but just as it reach the door of your bedroom, it stops suddenly. The door open, and Lazarus enter, he's not alone however, all your companions are here, they stand a little away form the bed, to leave you enough space. Your husband comes to your side and takes your hand, you can see in his eyes that he's on the verge of freaking out, but he's doing his best for your sake.

>"it seems so, my love. Our child is on the way. Soon we will be able to hold him in our arms." you reply.

>" Or her . . . .And you, how are you feeling ?" he inquires, obviously worried.

>"It's a little painful, and I'm a little afraid of what's going to happen. But I know everything will be fine, you are here after all." you smile.

You lovingly look into each other eyes, when someone coughs to get your attention, it's one of the nurses.

>"Your highness, following the discussions from the healers, it seems that you have just started the labor, this should happen in the next few hours. The good news is that your health is excellent, the same goes for your baby, everything will be fine for delivery." she explains.

>"And the bad news ?" Lazarus asks.

>"There is no bad news my lord. Everyone is ready, now we just need to wait. Of course I must admit that there are a lot of people in this room. Usually, it is the tradition for queen to give birth in front of other people, usually close friends, relatives, or even important lords, as a way to assure that a living baby was not substituted for a dead child, and that a royal baby girl was not switched for a desired boy. Of course not every court did it, but if you wish so, we could tell people to leave to give you more peace." she explains.

It's true, with the nurses and midwives, your retinue, Ellisa, Titania, Talion and Illsevel, there is at least twenty people in here.

Everyone vacate the room. You stay on your bed, Silviana, with the help of Emelyne, undressed you and now you wear a simple white gown. You follow the instructions of the midwives on how you should position yourself, and what to do to reduce the pain. During the whole time you didn't let go of your husband's hand.

>"Lazi, did you write the letters to my parents and our Kings and Queens to invite them ? We'll need to celebrate the birth of our child."

>"I have send letter a week ago, maybe two. They'll be there in a few days. Don't think about it for now."

You smile at your lovely dork lord, with him at your side, maybe this wouldn' t be too bad. Now you wait, for a long time, the contractions are still there and the pain is increasing, then, ultimately, you start getting into labor. The midwives tell you to breath rhythmically and push, you grit your teeth and do as told, but the pain is excruciating, and you do your best to not scream, letting out pained grunts, you're starting to bleed on the bed, Silviana doing her best to put clean sheet as fast as possible.

As you do it, a considerable pain hit you, and you scream, by the gods it hurt like hell. The following minutes are an agony, you breath, push and scream, then breath again, you knew it was going to be painful, but now the only thing you want is for it to be over as soon as possible. You squeeze Lazarus hand as hard as you can every time you push, but you are clutching the bedsheets with the other and it's shaking because of the pain. Seeing you are uncomfortable, someone takes your other hand, you turn to see Silviana, resolve in her eyes, you understand and squeeze as hard as you can as well.

It lasted for hours, you pushed, feeling as if your body was being split in half, and slowly your child moved forward, you screamed , but you did it. The cries of a baby soon filled the room. Exhausted, the only thing you can do is breath as one of the midwives carefully take your baby in her arms, the nurse skillfully cut the umbilical cord, they have a concerned look on their faces, You let go of Silviana's hand, she takes your baby and carefully washes it, before wrapping her in warm, comfortable blankets. She then turns to you with a smile.

>"Congratulation your Highnesses, it's a healthy baby girl." she declares.

She hands it to Lazarus and you can see her for the first time. She has a small tuft of red hair, just like yours, but small bony protrusions are present on her forehead, it seems that your child is horned, which isn't surprising seeing who her father is. Is that why the others were concerned ?

>"Lazarus *pant* Our child." you say, tired and ou of breath but happy.

>"Yes, our child. I still can't believe it. Never before I was dreaming of ever being a father, and now I hold my daughter in my arms."

>"I think we should give er her name, don't you agree ?"

>"Of course, and we have the perfect name. Welcome to the world, Orelliel Drack, Daughter of Lazarus Drack, and Freya Drack, Princess of the Drack Empire."

He gets up and lifts her above his head, she screams at the top of her lungs, taking her first breaths of fresh air, You first child, the thoughts echo in your head, Lazarus come back to your side and help to take Orelliel, you let her rest against you. After a moment she stopped crying, and you finally relax. The nurse and midwives are busy around the room, Emelyne examines you and the baby, and happily declares the two of you are okay, you just need rest. Once the room is clean, they're all taking their leave.

>"My queen you should take some rest, we're going to take care of everything in the meantime. My lord, it is best you stay her with her for a couple of hours a least." Emelyne says.

As you fell asleep, a strange sensation surround you, with great effort you manage to open your eyes and you notice with surprise that you are no longer in your bedroom but in the Realm of Dreams, and not even in the usual forest were you wake up, but directly in the temple, right in front of the fire of your soul on the promontory. As you try to clear your head, you notice three pairs of legs around you, you look up to see the faces of three gods, Two with a big smile, one with a stoic face as usual.

>"I suppose you are the ones responsible for dragging me out of bed ?" you inquire.

>"Technically you are still in your bed right now." Metraton replies.

>"Shut up. I have an idea why , but you must have a reason for summoning me here." you say..

>"Yes. We noticed a change in your mind, and we saw the black fire of your child burning intensely before turning into a great pillar of flames, then disappearing." Luna explains.

>"Congratulation for the baby girl Freya." Gefian declares, her face beaming with happiness.

>"You are going to be a good mother." Luna adds with a gentle smile.

>"Thank you everyone. I'm still amazed by this, I'm a mother now. Just two years ago I was still wondering what I'll do all day, and now I'm holding my daughter in my arms, the princess of one of the most powerful empires of the known world." you tell them.

>"You'll be fine, there is no surefire way of raising a child, especially a princess, but your parents did a good job with you, and you have a lot of people willing to help." Luna says.

-I will first recover from this little undertake then talk with Rimmirra and ask if he could fly me to the Wells one after the other and when that is done ask him so i can meat with Helennae. Even he shouldn`t have anything against it after that little trip. For example, you have high chance of finding Thyrn close to martial or war-minded race and people." she explains.

Having nothing else to discuss, you thank the three gods again, and you close your eyes. You open them after a moment, toy are back in your bedroom, your newborn sleeping against you. Lazarus sitting next to the bed, holding your hand.

>"No, I just had the visit of three gods that I know well."

>"You'd expect them to let you rest, you just gave birth a couple of hours ago."

You turn your head to see your best friend and lover sleeping on the couch, there is a large tray on your nightstand with jam, fluffy bread and milk, which must probably be cold by now. She's so cute like that, she is probably tired, it was the first time she was part of a royal delivery so it was hard for her. You're not hungry right now, so you close your eyes, going back to sleep until at least dawn, you hope.

While you were asleep, your empire was still wide awake. After Silviana told your friends and while she was preparing a meal, the news of the birth of the first princess of the Drack Empire was already announced. As is tradition, servants ran into the city, shouting "The empress has given birth to a little girl! The empire has a princess! Long live the emperor!" messengers on horseback have left town and will ride in the four corners of the empire, shouting the news in each village they pass, announcing the news to each person they meet, who will do the same in their turn. It will only take a short time before everyone celebrates this event.

The next day, as soon as you woke up, things started up again. You immediately breastfeed your baby, and Silviana, who woke up right after you (she was embarrassed), helped you to eat. The healers, nurses and midwives came into the room and examined you and the baby. There are no problems for you, and it is the same for your daughter. She is weighted and measured, she weight 3.4 kg (7.5 lbs) and is 50 cm (19.69 in), slightly bigger than what could be considered average.
Now there are several decisions you need to make about how your child is going to be taken care of.
Usually, a queen doesn't breastfeed her child after the first few days, and let a wet nurse do it instead. It would be seen as beneath someone of your rank.

You didn't have to think about it for long, as you already had an idea. You put Silviana in charge of the well being of your daughter, that way you know she will never be harmed under any circumstance. As for breastfeeding you will do it yourself, in the morning after getting up and before bed. As for in the middle of the day a wet nurse or Silvi will do it. The nurses and midwives examine Silviana, and a healer uses a spell on her. She has good prospect for lactating so they give her several instructions she must strictly follow to start the process. Of course it would have been better if she was pregnant. Another wet nurse will be scouted among the population of the city and selected after passing several test for her health and a background check, breastfeeding the daughter of the Empress is a privilege of course, but a duty first. As for education, you decide to follow the example of our parents, Orelliel will learn everything without distinction so she could rule the North alone, just as your parents did for you. For your daughter's baptism, The choice is obvious, she is going to be baptized under the Faith of the North Gods, this will please the Archpriest and reinforces the loyalty of your subjects that follow this religion. The same can't be said about the others however.

As you continue listening to the advices and lectures of the people around you, your little Orelliel start crying, everyone understand and excuse themselves, leaving you to take care of her. You start feeding her, her cries stopping once she starts suckling, Silviana take the tray and tell you that she's going to get everyone so they can see the baby, Emelyne is staying in the room, she is preparing several small vials, and explain that it's potions, ointments and other medicine that you'll have to give to your baby the first days to make her healthier. After half an hour, once Orelliel finished feeding, there is a knock at the door, Silviana enter followed by your friends. They congratulate you and Lazarus, and ask if they can come closer to see her. Of course they all have sensibility and common sense and don't approach you all at the same time, going by groups of three.
Shelur and Irene, Orelliel didn't react when Shelur approached, "she's going to be really strong once she's all grown up" she said. Ruriska, Dillon and Aleanor were next, and you noticed that Ruriska was hesitant in getting closer but Dillon managed to convince her. Titania, Talion and Illsevel were all smiles, Titania almost melted when she delicately brushed your daughter face and she caught her finger with her little hand, causing the Legendary Queen of the high elves to stifle a squeal. Murata, Gweyr were silent but smiling and Ellisa was giggling the whole time. Adeleine and Isabella had starts in their eyes, like two young girls that saw their little sister for the first time after hearing about her for months.

You have spend the last couple of days resting, recovering from the ordeal, and to your pleasure, your parents arrived, along with the other kings of the north. Phillip Turean, Otto Kislev, Sebastian Morebarr, Roman Vosko, and a representative of the Council of Roses were respectful, and one by one, each of them is going to pay respect to you, and see the baby. Your parents entered last, so you can spend as much time as you want with them, and you smile when you see your mother holding your little brother in her arms. She lowers her head and your father bows to you and Lazarus.

>"Greetings your highness. It's been a while." your father declares.

>"Greetings, King Harald, Queen Mathilda. We are happy to see you." Lazarus replies.

>"Hello, mother, father. You can drop the formalities now." you tell them.

>"Well, we had to follow the protocol, just for greetings at least. You won' believe how much your mother was excited to finally meet our granchild, she had to calm down and take a breath before leaving the coach." your gather smiles.

>"Don't be embarrassed, dear mother-in-law. I can understand why you would be excited, it is a great day for parents when they can see their own granchildren." Lazarus tells her with a grin.

A great table in the shape of a semicircle stand in the middle, with 15 comfortable seats, one for each member that can vote. On each side of the room are comfortable benches, enough for all members of the advisor body of the council, so 26. Two thrones overlook the room, for you and Lazarus, so you can see everyone in the room. Behind you, a great banner of the Drack Empire is hanging on the wall.
Everyone is here, your parents, Ellisa, Sebastian Morebarr. King Phillip Turean, King Otto Kislev, A representative of the Council of Roses, King Roman Vosko, the Nobles represantative, the Merchants representative, the People representative, the Non-Humans representative, ,he Bishop of the Church of the Light, the Archpriest of the Faith of the North Gods, and the Inquisitor of Cult of the Black Moon.
All the advisors are also present are taking their place on the side of the room. the Chamberlain, the Steward, the Chancelor, The six Generals of your Legions, the Dwarf representative, an engineer, a scholar, a scientist, and the 13 Administrators.

The three representatives get up from their seat, and speak in turn.

+ Noble : The nobility as a whole are seeing their current status stagnating, and their old privileges are still in "forgotten by the empire". They could like to summon some requests.
- Return of the nobility councils in each kingdom, where the king would turn to his vassals for advices.
- The administrators of the empire are carefully scrutinizing each noble domain, each title and demesnes are monitored. The nobility would like more independence.
- They would like to see the return of their status of protector of the realms, where they and their retinue would act as knights acting independently on behalf of the crown in time of conflicts.

+ Merchants : They have nothing to say, with the increase in industrial output, the diversification of products, the security in your empire as a whole and the relatively lax taxes, their businesses are flourishing. Some merchants can even buy vacant or unused lands, becoming kind of the new nobility. (The noble representative scoff at those words.)

+ People : They are really happy, hunger is at an all time low, everyone work, the numerous construction projects and the Legions provide a good alternative for money during winter, the peace with the demi-human is a blessing since you don't have to fear attacks or raids. They ask for a council of citizens to be established in all the big cities of the empire, acting as the voice of the people, resolving disputes and dispensing justice.

When they are finished and back in their seats, the council start discussing. What is yours and Lazarus answers ?

To the Noble:
-First the Nobility can be happy that there privileges are only stagnating. If we remember back to the last Day of the Drack Empire and what two Kings with a lot of support of the Nobility tried there would give us enough reasons to limit them what we did not do may i remind you.
-And thanks to that little incident we will not stop with the monitoring for now. But it stop in the not so distant future.
-As for protector of the realms, if they would excel in that we wouldn`t be here, but we can talk about this at a later date more privately (let them protect the Villages they build to prove that they can indeed protect something +Tell him that if the Merchants earn so much they can pay more for the Kings road upkeep.)

So other Anons know what i have planned for the Kings Road / Imperial Road. "Phase 1" is to finishing the Gravel road that would normaly take us without extra investment 7 years. but it will in the end take us a little more then 2 years since we started it in the first week of October 1312. "Phase 2" will be the Road from Drachenburg to Dracks Keep, this part will be fully developed in a Paved road worthy of the empire, but that will take time and in that time the trading will normalize itself slowly. After the part of the Road is done "Phase 3" can start and here we simple develop the Road form the Kingdom with the best trade to the Paved Road one after another.

He's asking if you want to take part in this expedition by sending your own men as well." he explains.

The announcement of this aid has a positive effect, more wealth is always welcome, and if it helps to develop an area, which will in turn bring more wealth, and all the better.

The Temple of Gefian especially is scheduled to be finished next month." you explain.

The Archpriest is delighted, the rulers seems to greatly approve, this will enable you, and by extension them, to gain even more support from the population.

>"Now, you probably heard about the conflict in the south between the Great Emperor Hagëndorff and his "vassal", Kazeel Thorn. I want to announce the official stance of the crown on this matter. We, the Drack Empire, are going to stay out of it, we're not going to support any side and stay neutral." you declare.

This seems to be what most of the member of the council wanted, the north just went out of a bloody war, so they aren't eager to jump into another. You are surprised to see that the Inquisitor of the Black Moon agree with this.

>"Another important announcement is about our most prestigious guest, Queen Titania. You might remember the mutual defense pact we had with the high elves ? Well, since something happened in my latest visit to the Old Forest in January, the mutual defence pact became a full Alliance between us. As long as she agrees, the Legendary Queen of the High elves is going to support us during armed conflict." you tell them.

This news sends the room into a frenzy, the rulers stay mostly silent, but the advisor body of the Council is bombarding you with questions, the dwarf representative is particularly loud, and you struggle to even make yourself heard. Lazarus was the one who brought back the calm, by smashing his fist with as much noise as thunder.

>"Shut up, all of you, you will be notified about the details in due time. For now, you just have to listen and do your job." he declares.

All the advisors sheepishly stand down, and silence come back in the room. So you go on with the announcement.

>"*Ahem* In addition, the elves will get one seat as well since they are now part of the Empire, aswell as a Mage of the Magical research Center, Magical advise will be needed in the future."

No one seems to object, so you decide to vote. Unsurprisingly, it is unanimously accepted. With this, you thank everyone, and end the second gathering of the Royal Council.

The next day, you decide to meet several people privately. First you are going to speak with the religious heads of your empire. Sitting at the head of a large table in a salon of the royal wing, you summon the Bishop of the Light, the old man enters the room soon after, and bows before you.

He sits down at the other end of the table, as it is the norm during meeting of this kind with royalty, so you can see each other while maintaining the respectful distance between you. What do you ask him ? Or perhaps you have something to say ?
