Your mind blanks a moment, you do NOT want this to go badly. You scramble to collect all your

courtly graces and think through a full response before saying it.

>"Your Grace! I would never dare do such a thing. I am merely fearful for your life as being part

of my team means frequent near-death experiences."

rolled 45
(Improved to 35 for write in)

He says nothing, making you very self concious with his silent gaze. Then he places his hand on

your shoulder and looks you in the eye.
"Christof, I understand that this situation is a bit of a prisoner's dilemna. We both need each

other to get to the Wish Granter. You simply have to trust me. I intend to use its power to

restore Uthain's climate, and in exchange gain your king's aid in liberating this dead city. But

I am also wary of the potential for disaster, I wont attempt to make a wish without serious

deliberation."

Relief, you were a bit worried he would freak out over the prospect of you stealing the wishes

from him. Still does he plan to let you be there when the djinn is released?
"Your grace, if I may. How can YOU trust ME with this operation?"

"Aha, lots of reasons. I secretly used scrolls to scan your alignment. I looked into your

activities in Aflor, aside from the orcs and that evil wizard enclave you've been adventuring

around a bit and generally being a force for good."
Good, you think to yourself, he has judged my character to be trustworthy. Noble and just

behaviour is its own reward.
He continues; "I also know the details of your encounter with Ayanos The Murderer. You used your

wishes cautiously and selflessly."
"How do you know this? Malgrave castle was protected from spying magic."
He chuckles. "That security is way out of date, besides, it's the tracking device I gave you that

recorded the incident. Ayanos has flown into outerspace, and his arc had been disassembled and is

being transported to Uthain by the Cloudshout. I'm not entirely thrilled you let Ayanos escape.

But the ultimate goal of liberating Aflor only requires the ultimate wish granter. If that

doesn't end up possible I can at least reclaim my peoples' capital from the undead."

You don't know what to say. You'd like to complain about him hiding the full capabilities of the

tracking device he gave you, but you're reluctant to try and strain things with him again.
"And don't worry about me getting hurt, I've destroyed this Lich in the past and with your help

I'll do it again."
"If that is your will my grace. We will fight side by side."
"Perfect. We'll move out at sunrise. Make sure your men are ready. Oh yeah and visit the

Alchemist for some extra potions."
"I will my lord."
With a short bow you excuse yourself.

Later you meet up with your party in a private room and relay the details of your conversation.
Shawel nods "We may have to trust this Archduke. Without him we probably wont even be able to find the lich."
Alina responds "Don't worry, he's on our team. He just wants to be king of an independent Aflor, I say let him! No more imperial bitches."
Ulric scratches his head, "Does he plan to keep the djinn forever? Like a slave? I was expecting us to free all of the djinni like we did with Ayanos."
Shawel retorts, "I believe they are imprisoned by their own people. They're not slaves but prisoners unlawfully stretching out of their jails to interact with humans. So they can use their wish granting abilities."

Now you have to decide what your next move is.

It loos like we have no choice but to take the Duke and cross the wish bridge when we get there.

My main fear I's that once the lichen is destroyed he has an army supporting his claim.

That leaves us with 1 wish for the both of us.

"We're going to throw in our lot with the duke. We'll deal with the Wish Granter when we get to it. Hopefully he doesn't snap and do something crazy at the last minute."
With no objections to your plan you tell everyone to make sure they're ready and rested for sunrise.

20 minutes later you knock on the door of the alchemist's kitchen.
"Hello? The archduke told me we could get some potions here."
You step inside the room to see a little elf standing on top of a stool amongst various beakers, pots and cauldrons.
Living in a king's palace you've seen elven guests lots of times. This is your first time seeing a non human "civilised" race in Aflor however.
"An elf!", exclaims Ulric.
"Aww! He's so cute!" comments Alina.
The elf rolls his eyes, "Stop gawking at me you bumpkins."
You step forward. "My friends meant no disrespect, they've never seen an elf before. We're going into battle, and we need to stock up on your potions."
He gives an acknowledging nod and reaches up a shelf and grabs a thick leather bound book.
"Okay, you humans look tough enough to handle some mid-level elixirs. What kind of potion are you after? Given the time frame I can make about... three of these. Or one mega potion combining three of them."
He places the book down open on a page displaying a catalog of potion effects.

"Very well. I have already prepared most of the complex subingredients to make this. It will be ready by sunrise."

In the right frame of mind, Christof can be quite suave I think. But his head space isn't there at the moment.

"Huh? Why would I want to check out an empty room Alina?"
She blinks with slight surprise on her face. "Uh.. nevermind Christof. I think there's a temple down this way let me show you."
She suddenly grabs your hand and hastily leads you down the corridors and into a smallish chapel. How helpful of her. "Looks like we're the only ones around." Alina comments.
There's one generic altar and one statue of Epohr, God Of Shadows. A bit of an exotic choice but cool, it's not like he's an evil god. You pay your respects to Epohr and walk up to the altar.

>>
>>4196732
I agree to Alina helping to 'doff our armor' and then fade to black, I don't think either would be awkward later. I think they're both strong and confident.

Although, if Ulric starts asking some perfectly innocent questions, I could see Christof trying to avoid answering so as to be a gentleman and Alina avoiding it out of adhering to a social pretense of chastity.
And then, Ulric could just continue to be confused as they try to avoid being improper, thereby creating a comedic scene.

You are awakened by the sound of your timed Alarm spell. It's sunrise.
Alina sits up and opens one sleepy eye. "Ahhh is it morning already? Can't we kill that lich

tomorrow?"
Already equiping your armour you reply "No Alina. We win TODAY! Go find Ulric and Shawel. Make

sure they're at the mess. I need to pick up my strongest potion."
"O-kay Christof, whatever you say." No sooner than you leave Alina casts another Alarm spell to go

off in 10 minutes and goes back to sleep.

"So this little potion will seriously stop time when I drink it?" You ask the alchemist.
The elf rears back the bottle as you reach for it. "It's hard to describe, when you ingest it,

your "personal time field" will get all scrambled up and spill everywhere, freezing everything in

your location in time. After 10 seconds, the flow of time and your own time field should normalise

and things will go on as normal".
He places the fancy hourglass shaped bottle on the table. "Be VERY careful with it!" He warns.

"Don't try to throw it, it doesn't turn into gas like a regular potion. You have to DRINK it."
You slowly reach out to the bottle and give the alchemist a "can I take it now" look. "Take it,

and use it well."
You carefully grasp the bottle, tilting it to see its bright green liquid flow.
"Is there any other business you have to discuss? I must scrape together some more healing potions
