You are Arthur Bernhard: 20 year old leader of a small group of fugitives, killer of both man and monster, wielder of the Power of Destruction and Dark Lord Candidate beholden to Chaos.Unfortunately, the peace and quiet you assumed would be yours after having managed to negotiate an alliance with Sophia has yet to show itself. Instead, you've been forced to deal with magical beasts.First off were some gigantic slugs responsible for the deaths of hundreds of the passengers, thankfully, despite their incredible numbers, they were quite easy to deal with. Things were going smoothly until Grigori, the ice magician, appeared to betray you, injuring you by throwing a spear of ice clean through your arm.You later called a meeting between all your allies to discuss what to do about Grigori's betrayal, only to soon find that Grigori hadn't betrayed you at all, a Doppelgänger was the one manipulating things all along, it quickly led you into a death trap which you managed to escape before the monstrously large wolves in the trap tore you to shreds. Now though, you've managed to corner the Doppelgänger with the help of Sophia, and it's fate lies in your hands...Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=WhatIsAQMCharacter Sheet: https://pastebin.com/zZKZAjgULast Thread: >>4133692
"You'll answer my questions before anything else, Doppelgänger." This creature has been quite a bother to you. No doubt she was the one behind releasing those slug creatures, and that trap against those gigantic wolf creatures could easily have proven fatal had you not thought to use the Power of Destruction to make your escape.Casting your mind back to those giant animals, you now realize that they've likely gone on a rampage on the floors above by now. Something else to deal with later on, you suppose. But for now, you have a more pressing matter to deal with in the form of this shapeshifter currently taking the form of a girl quivering in fear as Sophia looks at her, disinterest evident in her red eyes."Q-questions? O-of course! I just... I don't want to die!" For something that was so confident mere minutes ago, this Doppelgänger sure has changed it's tune quickly the moment it realized that things were no longer going to go it's way."Then you'll tell me the truth and won't give Sophia or myself any additional reason to execute you by attempting to obfuscate it with lies." You can hear the small girl audibly gulp at the mention of killing her. Of course, it would leave a bad taste in your mouth to kill it while it took the form of a child, but it's likely just a trick to cause that exact reaction from you. "What happened to Grigori. You took his form, but how long ago did that start? Is the real Grigori dead? How exactly are you able to use his magic, anyway?" You'll get to the bottom of this deception, and finding out if Grigori even existed in the first place seems like an important first step."Grigori? He... he should still be alive. I didn't kill him at least. We Doppelgängers are only able to mimic a basic appearance if we only go off of sight, so I needed to use some of his blood from the battle he had with that plant woman in order to get a more perfect copy of him down. That's all, he's not dead!" She's quick to deny killing off Grigori. Well, now you kind of feel bad for making all those assumptions about his character when you had thought he was behind this betrayal. "But... I found that I could manipulate his ice magic when I ingested a sample of his blood and assumed a perfect copy of his body. It must be something to do with people who have magic naturally...""So then, you were to one who launched that ice spear at me then? Was that an attempt to kill me?" It makes sense, you suppose. If she was inexperienced with Grigori's magic and still attempted to use it against you, then her missing a vital point and killing you might have been more accidental than anything else. She's silent for a moment and refuses to look you in the eye. It takes a while before she finally gives her answer. "...Yes. It was. I'm sorry for trying to kill you." An admission of intent then? So she was trying to kill you? If she's trying to convince you to spare her, she's not exactly doing a good job.
"Why were you trying to kill me in the first place?" She can't have been targeting you alone for no reason, surely? It seems that you've been something of a focused target of hers, considering both of the times she's attempted to kill anybody, it has been you."It's because... I... I hate humans." The girl opposite you bunches her hands into fists as her previously panicked face turns into a scowl. "Throughout all my life, you humans have done nothing but cause me misfortune, even my own father, he started my misery." Come again? Noticing the confusion on your face, the girl stops and offers an explanation "Doppelgängers can reproduce with practically any other lifeform in order to create another Doppelgänger, though unlike with pure Doppelgängers, the offspring will have two separate forms that it considers it's true self. One belonging to their non-Doppelgänger parent, and the other is inherited from the shape-shifter of the pair. I doubt you want to see that form.""Oh, I think I understand now. Please, do go on." You allow yourself a quick glance at Sophia, who's actually looking somewhat interested in where the Doppelgänger's story is going now."Well, on the day of my birth, my mother decided instead of just taking me and fleeing, she would confess the truth of her identity to my father and reaffirm him of her love. She didn't want to keep having to live a lie, I think. Our species was on the edge already, only a few years after humanity triumphed over darkness." She chokes up a little as she keeps talking. "My father was... less than pleased. He got into an argument with my mother and soon stormed out of the house in a rage after she revealed the true nature of her existence to him. Then, it was quiet for about an hour, while my mother just held me. She was crying, I remember. That's when smoke began to fill the room, in mere moments, the entire house was a blazing inferno. My mother tried to escape with me, before she had her lower half crushed by a falling wooden beam. She barely had enough strength to throw me through an open window into the hedge outside the house. Leaving a newborn alone to fend for itself." You hold out a hand to pause her "Wait a second. You're saying that this occurred on the day of your birth? How exactly do you remember all of this, exactly?" It's an interesting story, sure. But you doubt there is anybody that can recall the day of their own birth in such vivid detail.
She looks a little irritated by your interruption "Doppelgängers have perfect memories from the day we are born. We never forget a face, so why should we forget our lives?" It does make some sort of sense you suppose. If her race have the capacity to memorize a potentially limitless number of bodies and faces to replicate in near perfect detail, it's not so unbelievable that they would also have the capability to remember their lives in great detail too. "But anyway, ten years I spent in the forests of Europe, roaming from place to place and consuming the flesh of all sorts of animals, learning to take their forms. It was at this point I discovered an... ability of my people that I don't think is well known." She seems hesitant to tell you, but your probing gaze makes her eventually decide to spill her secret. "W-we have the ability to not only copy physical forms, but also to copy memories. I learned this after I consumed the brain of a sparrow. I was suddenly infused with it's memories of years of flying around the forest. The sensory overload of just a bird's memories was enough to knock me unconscious for several hours though.""That's... incredible." You can't help but blurt out your amazement. That ability of hers is even more terrifying than her ability to transform into others. Should she have the inclination to, she could very easily replace anybody she wished perfectly and act as if they were the exact same person she had disposed of."I-I don't want to hear the praise of a human!" She looks a little shocked that your reaction to her revelation wasn't disgust and revulsion, but more interest and fascination. "But, to cut a long story short, eventually I was tracked down by that monster dealer you're friend dealt with. He captured me and intended to sell me and a whole other bunch of monsters to some guy in Russia, 'Blinov' or something. After I made my escape, I saw you. I still don't know how a human like yourself had managed to get the allegiance of so many monsters though. What is it? Some sort of binding magic? Are you going to enslave me to your will now that you've captured me?"So, she attacked you out of some hatred for humanity and distrust for you based on your inhuman allies following a human? "Well, I suppose that answers why you wanted me dead, but rest assured. I'm using no magic to compel my allies to obey me, each of my inhuman allies follow me of their own accord.""But... why?" The look on the girl's face is completely dumbfounded."Allow me to answer that question, but first. Do you have a name, Doppelgänger?" Sophia cuts in, intending to answer for herself."I... I suppose you can call me... Effigy. Or... Effi, if that's easier." The girl quickly gives you a name for herself, though if that's her true name, a fake name, or if she was just previously unnamed before this point, you can't tell.
"Well then, Effi. The reason I'm so willing to be Arthur's ally is for his potential role in the future. You are aware of what happened in 1999, yes? The Dark Lord himself was destroyed once and for all." Effi tries to look unsurprised at this reveal, though she doesn't exactly do the best job at it. You're already getting to know her tells. For all her shape-shifting ability is powerful and faultless in appearance, it doesn't really help the girl too much if her entire interaction with humanity has been so limited. "Arthur here is one of Dracula's potential successors. A being who could turn the tide on the ever growing swarm of humanity as easily as brushing aside an insect. He is by no means a normal human.""I... Really? I'm... Sorry?" The girl's yellow eyes seem to plead with you as she stares upwards, she looks like she's about to cry.>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on.">"I'll accept this apology of yours, but I never want to see you again, in any form.">"I can't accept your apology, Effi. I'm afraid that this is as far as you go.">Write-in...
>>4166003>>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."Ah, she's half human, that makes it half bad to kill her. Also, oh boy, Alucard and Kokoro in the OP...
>>4166003>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."I have to ask QM, were you expecting to reveal the Doppelganger's backstory at all? Or were we going to blindly kill it?Also>that OPpls no.....
>>4166003>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."Could be useful.
>>4166033I figured you would at least hear it out if you got to the point of actually having a conversation with it. Though there weren't actually many paths where you ended up with her cornered and willing to talk like this. These circumstances were brought about entirely by your write-in earlier.
>>4166040Just according to keikaku
>>4166040Yet another sinister QM plot derailed by Arthur being galaxy-brained.What will he pull of next?I wonder how many of our teammates will get killed by broody and clumsy.
>>4166003>Apology accepted, now please die.Hate.
>>4166003>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."We really do need to build up as much of an organization as we can if we're to achieve our ends, and that means recruiting everyone possible.
>>4166003>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."This Doppelgänger is so lucky Arthur is weak to tragic backstories, but since Sophia knows about her then there shouldn't be too much of a worry. Now the question is how we're going to fix the mess they've made and how we should explain that the whole manhunt happened because of a Doppelgänger.
>>4166003>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."Doppelganger get!Our faction is getting to be incredibly powerful now. Though I just realised we're going to need a name for our group. And a base of operations.Wonder when we'll see Theresia again...
>>4166003>>"Apology accepted, but only if you work for me from now on."
So what ranks should our allies hold when we actually make our organization more official?
>>4167217Why would we develop a ranking system?
>>4167222Because having an actual hierarchy would really help out.Help keep things running smoothly.
>>4167237imo ranking systems just add bloat for no reason.not like we aren't doing just fine without em.when we get to the point we're commanding armies though, then our friends would probably end up as generals or something like that.til then I just don't see a point.
>>4167242I feel like having a proper hierarchy would just be cool.
>>4167258well I don't.
>>4167269But we could get everyone cool uniforms!
>>4167281You don't need an intricate hierarchy to dress fancy, just a good tailor.
>>4167237>>4167242There are two situations where I can see a hierarchical system as helping things work better. First, when our (presumably equal) allies have disagreements and other problems working with one another, a clear hierarchy and delineated roles would help resolve this without unnecessary conflict or the need for us to personally step in. This does require everyone to be on board with the notion, though, which I can see being difficult to get working.Second, ranks and job titles become useful when there are enough people in our organization that we don't know them all personally. At that point, we need a way to get things done by indirect delegation, and while you can rely on an expanding circle of personal relationships in radiating connection, that's pretty inefficient. We'll definitely want to set up a proper organizational hierarchy when we get to that point, but since we're neither there nor close to that point, I think speculating about names for ranks at this point is jumping the gun a little.
You look into the wide inhuman eyes of the small girl standing quite a distance away as you approach her, the yellow of her eyes seems to faintly glow in the fairly dull light of the hallway. You pass by Sophia, who is seemingly satisfied by Effi's tale, the malicious gaze of earlier replaced by a look of contemplation as she regards the fate of the Doppelgänger. However, you'll be the one deciding what ought to happen to her, not Sophia. You are apparently going to be the Dark Lord in the future, so such decisions will be something you alone get to make. You never really worked out the specifics of your partnership with the vampire. You stop roughly three foot in front of the small doppelgänger, who is forced to crane her head up to look at you as she trembles. "Apology accepted, on one condition." You give the girl a moment to take the news in as you take a pause. "You'll work for me from now on, as my direct subordinate. If I'm to become the Dark Lord as my allies wish of me, I will need a force strong enough to face the ones who would stand in my way." You make your demand that the girl join you and aid you in your future endeavours, it really does seem that the revelation of your ability to potentially become the Lord of Darkness is truly helpful when it comes to recruiting allies to your cause.Effi sighs at your proposal "I suppose being a slave is better than being treated like some exotic pet, a resource to be used and disposed of... or a monster to be slain on sight." Seems she's misunderstood your demand she join you as a demand that she become a slave and throw away her freedom. While it's true you're not exactly giving her a choice in joining you, you have no intention to treat her so poorly once she joins you.You pinch the bridge of the nose in impatience. This doppelgänger really doesn't think much of you. "Effi. You misunderstand. By joining me, you won't be forced into slavery or anything so unsavoury as that. I merely wish for you to aid me in the same way the others who call themselves my ally do." Besides, you would have to be a true fool if you enslaved somebody like Effi, considering the scope of her abilities, escape wouldn't exactly be a difficult matter for her, should she wish it."So... you're not going to kill me as revenge for my attacking you, and you're not going to force me into slavery either?" Effi doesn't seem to understand the minor mercy she's being shown at all. "But why? Aren't you angry? Don't you hate me for doing what I did?"
"Hate you? Not particularly. You didn't do any lasting damage to me, and by your own admission, Grigori was also unharmed. So in total, all you've really done is been an inconvenience." It's true that Effi hasn't really been much of a threat, had things gone differently, she could've caused terrible damage, you're sure. However, there is one thing... "The same can't be said of the results of your actions towards the more mundane passengers of the ship however. Those slugs that were released and those giant wolf creatures that I'm certain are now roaming free two floors above us together have killed incredible numbers of passengers, I'm sure. But if I held those deaths against you, I would be something of a hypocrite, considering the past actions of some of the other members of my group." It's true, though Effi is possibly indirectly responsible for the most deaths of any of your allies. Well, disregarding maybe Sophia, seeing as there's really no telling just what she got up to in her life prior to joining forces with you.The small Doppelgänger seems to breathe a sigh of relief at your pardoning of her crimes. You can't really imagine she would have had the same luck with almost anyone else on the planet. Yet here you are, sparing a girl who's machinations caused the death of hundreds just because the result of her joining you and aiding you is more desirable than seeking to enact some sort of justice for the deceased passengers. While you certainly aren't about to approve such behavior from your allies, nor do you feel the need to go out of your way to put a stop to it. As far as you're concerned, the world turned against you the moment the forces of those who consider themselves aligned with good manipulated the life of a child entirely to their whim. In some attempt to prevent him from ever discovering the truth about his own existence. Your thoughts turn back to your family. Were they complicit in this? Or were they strong-armed by the Church into giving you up after they realized what a threat you represented to their so called peace? You were too young to really give it much thought at the time, but you don't ever recall your parents mentioning any family abroad either. You were much too angry from the indignity of being effectively disowned by your own parents for seemingly no reason. You have an inkling as to their reasoning now though, be it their own choice or by the Church or this Dorin Organization forcing them into surrendering you into their custody. It's just another aspect of your life you were unable to decide for yourself. Consequences you couldn't possibly avoid for events you had no willing part in. The life you should have lived being torn away from you thanks to somebody's paranoia. Well, for all their attempts to stop you from realizing the truth, they backfired in the end anyway.
"Uhmmm.... Lord... Arthur?" Effi hesitates as she adds a title onto the start of your name, her quiet, shaky voice is enough to lure you away from your thoughts of the past "What... are you doing?" You realise that at some point during your reminiscing, you must have reached out a hand and rested it atop Effi's head. The girl is giving you a look of utmost confusion, but there seems to be the ever so faint trace of a smile hidden behind that look of bewilderment too. You quickly withdraw the hand. "Ah, my apologies. I find myself being lost in my own thoughts more often than usual lately. I must have accidentally reached out while I was remembering just how those bastards in the Church have manipulated my life." You wonder if it would ever have been possible for you to have lived a normal life, or if you were guaranteed to have been made to walk in the world of magic from the day of your birth. "I'm sorry if I caused you any discomfort.""I... I didn't hate it." Effi is even more quiet than before as you take your hand from the top of her head. The two of you lapse into an awkward silence, only for a cough from behind you to put an end to the quiet."Another ally then? You are so very kind and merciful to those who have wronged you, Arthur. But... I likely would've done the same, at least in this case. Doppelgängers are quite useful to have as allies after all. As long as you can be guaranteed of their loyalty." Effi flinches at the cold tone in Sophia's words, even going so far as to attempt to hide behind you to avoid Sophia's piercing eyes."Yes, well, as much as I would love for us to continue talking with one another, we do have some things to be getting on with still. Namely resolving the whole giant wolf situation going on upstairs and also informing my other allies that Grigori isn't actually a traitor, so probably shouldn't be treated as one if they've already found him." You really can't just keep standing around and talking. As you begin to walk back the way you came in, you see that somehow, Mistral has managed to fall asleep once again, though this time she's slumped over your shoulder in a precarious position. You scoop her up and deposit her in her chosen sleeping area before...>Sending Sophia to go and deal with the giant wolves while you look for your other allies with Effi.>Going with Sophia to get rid of the wolves.>Just going to look for your other allies with both Sophia and Effi, while completely disregarding the monsters terrorizing the upper floors.>Write-in...

>>4167668Supporting this: >>4167682But I'll float an idea anyway:What if we had Effi morph into us to help gather our comrades? We could just have her morph back into her girl form when we're all reunited to explain the situation.
>>4167699I don't want to take the risk of them discovering the jig and attacking her
>>4167718Fair enough, I feel the chances of that happening are small, but no pressing need for unnecessary risks, so long as we prevent Grigori from getting got it's all good.

>>4167960Wow, I didn't think anyone else supported that plan, but letting the hounds get em is just a huge waste of blood supply.
>>4167668>>Sending Sophia to go and deal with the giant wolves while you look for your other allies with Effi.
The fuck kind of powers was Dimitri looking for in giant slugs and non-fire-breathing wargs? He truly is worst lad.
>>4168131Does he even know he can copy powers at this point?
>>4167682Support, it's best we go to clear up the misunderstanding but having the wolves go nuts is a bit risky.Besides if Sophia decides to adopt one of them and feeds it regularly then it's yet another bonus member.
>>4167682Supporting this>>4167960Why are we back to talking about sinking the ship?I think going ahead with it will cement our evil alignment totally.I'm not ok with being Stupid Evil.>>4168131Maybe he wanted the slug poison?Or that screech the big snail did? Maybe he wanted claws or something from the wargs?I'm willing to bet he really only wanted Effi though.>>4168409>Pet Warg I really want this now.
>>4168563>Stupid EvilSinking the ship is Smart Evil. And most players seem fine with being evil so I don't see the problem.
>Muh ship sinking againOh for fuck sakes.
>>4168582I have yet to read a convincing argument against the idea.
>>4168591That's because you're dead set on this ridiculous idea.Nobody wants to sink the ship
>>4168593Well this guy doesn't seem to be against it: >>4167960But it's still not an argument against it regardless.
>>4168563>I think going ahead with it will cement our evil alignment totally.Well, that's certainly part of why I want to do it, so we've got no more messing around and flip-flopping about "maybe we could still be good, even though we're trying to become the Lord of Darkness".Aside from that, though, it really does feel like this ship incident is snowballing out of the possibility of keeping things concealed without just wiping out the evidence completely. For the record, I was initially against the idea. It's grown on me though.
You ship sinkers do realize we're allied with someone whose mansion is connected to one of the cabins right? At this point in time it's actively stupid.
>>4168778Well that depends on whether or not the dimension needs to be anchored to continue existing, but what do you think was Sophia's plan for it when she disembarked?Never disembark ever again?Or move it somewhere else?Or... letting it collapse when it is no longer useful?Given that she wants to re-claim her castle I'd definitely say she's ok with letting it collapse if that's going to be the end result.
>>4168630>evil for the sake of confirming that we're evil.Oh! Very edgy. Very cool! How about we don't do that and actually wait before cementing ourselves into the evil route?I don't really want to get obliterated by Alucard when he inevitably tracks us down, thanks.>>4168786We should really ask how the pocket dimension thing works. As for sinking the ship.I highly doubt any of our team have the navigation skills neccessary to find land or create a boat that could survive stormy seas.I'd rather we didn't start the next arc by washing up on a beach alone.
>>4168921I don't think it's that stormy, but I have faith in the compensation our allies can make if we do end up in stormy seas.Navigation though? Just take the ship's navigator with us. They shouldn't have been killed just yet.
>>4168933We're going to fucking die if we go through with this.I can feel it.
>>4168939But why?No matter how many reasons I give that it's doable I get responses like this. Can I get a reasonable argument for not sinking the ship besides not wanting to be Ebil?
>>4168921Try>evil for the sake of establishing a consistent arc and avoiding future morality-based 180-degree reversals of intentWe've already got people wanting to flip-flop, mess around, and turn Arthur into a conflicted mess. I just want to do something that will undeniably settle us on the path we've started down. If we'd stuck with Shirley and co I'd be rooting for some kind of hardcore paladin action for the same reason. Establishing a consistent goal and view on morality for the character is a good way of avoiding the worst kind of player conflict, I think.
>>4168946When Alucard finds us, I don't think any number of excuses as to why we went ahead and killed thousands of people just to cover our tracks are going to stop him from stabbing us to death.
>>4168962Like he isn't going to try to kill us when we tell him:"You people manipulated me since I was a child! Well, no more! I'll decide my own destiny, and if that means having to become the Dark Lord to have control, then so be it!"
>>4168962Also, we'd only kill a large amount of people if we sabotaged the lifeboats. If we sink the ship but have Sophia remove her sep field, there should be a large number of survivors, and all the deaths make more sense than if the ship came into port with hundreds of missing people.
>>4168957>If we'd stuck with Shirley and co I'd be rooting for some kind of hardcore paladin action for the same reasonOnly evilfags call "not being an awful person" a hardcore paladin action, evilfag. You can't fool me anon. I see right through you. It's not a satisfactory ending to an arc at all.And being on a tiny barely seaworthy vessel means the QM gets to use all of his aquatic monsters and Arthur will probably wind up getting eaten by a Lorelai or a Siren.>>4168967I mean if he does attack us after we reveal that, I can't imagine he's going to go about it with as much ferocity compared to us killing thousands.
>>4169000Wow, you really didn't get what I was saying at all, did you? To begin with, I didn't say what the paladin action would be, so you're pulling that point right out of nowhere. Second, I'm talking about trying to set up a consistent character arc for our protagonist to last through the quest as a whole, not talking about what would or would not be a satisfying ending to the boat arc. Refer to my earlier point about people unsatisfied with the route we're going down trying to reverse course and turning our character development into a mess. You also seem to be assuming we'd be on a lifeboat for some reason, which is another notion you're getting from nowhere. Why do you assume we'd be on a "tiny barely seaworthy vessel" exactly?
>>4169000>not being an awful personBeing Good in Castlevania = PURGE THE UNCLEAN!UNCLEAN = Anything that has to prey on humanity to survive, or gets in your way.Well, to begin with, why would those monsters be so close to charted waters? Doesn't make much sense to me personally. But even if they did show up, we have:A 170~ year old Vampire who can use high-tier magic spells, if unreliably.A fledgling vampire with super-senses and strength.A skilled assassin who specializes in freezing things, and we'd be dealing with aquatic creatures so I think this deserves a note.A fucking terminator.A botanist who can develop poisons.A Doppelganger who can morph into a sea creature if they're in her memory already, and if not and we do come across any such creatures that don't or can't join us, we can just have her eat them.An Alura Une who could just tentacle rape any problems we may come across.A Dark Lord candidate who can make sure things die when they're killed.A Sylph who can send blades of wind in the worst case scenario.I don't think any random monster would get the better of us on a smaller craft. As for ferocity... I mean isn't Alucard always serious? If he's trying to take us down he'll give it his best effort. As for us killing thousands, refer to: >>4168996
>>4169014Why are you assuming our ship would be anything other than a small barely viable vessel? There's a reasonable level of elevation for Arthur becoming truly evil. It's retarded if we just have him go from killing one or two people who are undeniably in his way to ordering mass deaths for the sake of convenience. There's no catalyst for him to have developed that far.>>4169028Jesus our faction is already getting big. Also I don't think Alucard is always serious at all.His broodiness gets in the way.I'm just hoping we get out of this with all of our allies and ourselves unstabbed.
That "Good means killing every dark being" argument only really works in the context of the games, where there generally are no redeeming factors to the monsters you fight. It isn't even that true when it comes to a certain pair of Vampires, who you literally cure from their condition.Even if we weren't looking at it from the meta perspective of "I don't want to be insta gibbed by the good guys" then you have to look at it from a logical perspective.Do you seriously want to stuff such a large group on tiny lifeboats, pray that the organization hunting you down doesn't put together that a sudden ship sinking that was probably not even sailing in a area where Icebergs are common and some random group of survivors found on a lifeboat aren't connected to a missing dark lord candidate?Having the Cruise ship get to port will give us much more time and will possibly also give them false leads from the other survivors.
>>4169051>There's no catalyst for him to have developed that far.Eh. That's fair. I just want to commit to a route, is all. Too many protagonists get pulled back and forth by player factions and wind up horribly indecisive.
The only thing we've decided so far is to try becoming the Dark Lord.Doesn't mean we have to be a asshole about it is my thought on the matter, there is literally no real reason to do so.
>>4169055If Sophia was going to use the "Gas Leak" excuse for the slugs, why can't the same excuse work for sinking the ship?Icebergs aren't the only thing that can cause ships to sink, accidents on the ship can be just as disastrous. I'll also re-iterate that they would connect this incident more with Sophia than Arthur, since he would have more experience in the Americas than in Europe. As for false leads, I'd say sinking the ship and having the testimonials about what went on on the ship would be far more striking and distracting than if we sailed into port like nothing happened. And lastly, why would we use a lifeboat?>>4169073It's just a ship. There doesn't have to be a huge number of deaths if we don't want there to be. If we try out the gas leak excuse, then we could make the ship sink slowly enough for the people to evacuate, and it would make sense since ships have safety features for those kinds of accidents.
>>4169055As for their being "no redeeming factors" to any of the monsters in Castlevania games, how would you know?Did you sit down and talk to them?
>everyone arguing about good and evil instead of just hanging out with the robot without moralityThis is why thinking is overrated.
>>4169119>This is an argument about good and evilI thought it was an argument against stupidity, but you could've fooled me.
It might not be the right time yet, but I hope when it is time WhatIs provides us with decent motivation for actually becoming evil.Right now Arthur kind of just feels like he's sort of going with the flow and doesn't really care.Unfortunately, the best motivator for turning to evil is an ally dying. So who could it be?Holly?Shirley? Theresia?Sophia?Alura?Anna?Somebody Arthur cares about is going to have to die.
>>4169353If it came to that, I'd venture Alura's death or Theresia's death would have the most impact. Shirley is pretty firmly on the traitor list in Arthur's mind atm and I think he'd feel responsible for Holly's death but it wouldn't shake him too badly. Sophia might get killed off since she's OP, and Anna's just along for the ride, but I think their deaths would effect Arthur the least of all of them. But why can't Arthur just grow into being Evil? You know, he makes a decision to kill a few humies here, he lets some mass murderers off there, he makes his own "necessary sacrifices", and suddenly he's pure Evil incarnate!
"Sophia, if you wouldn't mind, I would like if you could deal with the giant wolves on the upper floors while I take Effi along with me to help explain the truth behind Grigori's apparent betrayal. Is that OK with you?" Hopefully your allies haven't been overzealous in their treatment of Grigori, who was likely simply relaxing in his cabin the entire time. Thankfully, Anna and Coller are more or less guaranteed not to have done too much damage to the ice mage. If any at all. While you don't doubt Coller would have any issue with butchering the assassin if she was given the order, without Anna actually doing so, she should remain passive entirely. Well, unless Grigori attempted to attack Anna, then it's unlikely that the magician would've survived the retaliation from the dangerous robotic girl."If that is what you think would be best, I shall rid us of these feral beasts. But in my absence please remember that even if Effi might seem trustworthy, she's still unproven." She casts one more look upon the Doppelgänger while turning about. "I feel we could be great friends, Effi. Please don't waste that opportunity, it's not one I give lightly." The small Doppelgänger freezes up as Sophia walks away. There is one more thing you remember as Sophia begins her journey to the upper floors. "Oh! Sophia, I was thinking..." You try to phrase it in a manner that won't offend her as she turns her head to face you. "You recall when you used that fire spell and showed the effects of that necklace of yours? Well, when the fire parted from us, won't the unscorched patch of floor there reveal a supernatural element of the... 'gas leak'?"Her expression curls into a frown. "I... I hadn't really considered that at the time. I... I must be out of practice." She takes a moment to gather herself. "I shall meet you back at your cabin, please don't take too long to collect the rest of those followers of yours, I can't imagine these beasts will provide more than a moments entertainment." She turns away once again, but this time instead of merely walking away, her body becomes shadowy as her outline grows blurry. Eventually dispersing into a flock of bats which rapidly disappear down the hallway. It seems that your observation actually caught Sophia off guard. You suppose she wasn't expecting you to have pointed out a failure on her part so suddenly. She seems the sort to take failure particularly hard. Especially after her last failure ended with her imprisoned in solitude for decades. You are reminded just how incredible that it is that she purposely forced herself to stay conscious throughout her entire stay within the bunker, even though she could have simply gone into a deep slumber and avoided the torment of isolation.
"S-she's kind of scary." Effi only speaks when she is certain that Sophia has gone, remarking on the powerful vampire's intimidating aura before going silent for a while, not talking again until you . "I've never had a friend before though, humans always ran away whenever I took a human form and tried to speak to them, and as much as I disliked them, they seemed far more capable of holding a conversation than those forest animals. Even when I tried talking with them one time, they were only ever focused on their primal instincts." You don't really know what Sophia meant by her offer of friendship, but Effi seems to be considering it. You can imagine the cause of Effi's lack of success in making a friend to likely be related to suddenly transforming from a woodland creature and her true human form's inhuman eyes."Sophia isn't that scary, Effi. I doubt that you'll ever really have a reason to be afraid of her... unless you betray us. Truth be told, I've never seen her truly upset, so I can't really talk much of how terrifying she might be if you did that." You do feel a little bad, playing on the emotions of a child like Effi to ensure she doesn't get any ideas about betraying you by ensuring she fears the repercussions from the powerful vampire that already so easily terrifies her. "But you need not worry about something like that. Sophia has offered you a chance to become a friend of hers. I'm not sure what exactly that entails, but it shows that she does consider you in a different light than my other allies.""I... I guess I can deal with that?" Effi sounds uncertain as to how she should feel about the threat Sophia poses to her, as well as the potential offer of a friendship with the girl who clearly terrifies her. You've been walking for a while now, and you decide it would be prudent if you took the elevator rather than waste time and energy traversing yet more stairs in order to once again reach Grigori's room. You spend the rest of the journey with Effi giving her a brief rundown on your allies, it's possible that she had already observed it all and learned all she wished to know about you and your allies, but considering her lack of the crucial information that you were a Dark Lord Candidate, it's unlikely that she really managed to learn that much about you and your allies from whatever reconnaissance she underwent prior to luring you into that trap.
As you push open the door to Grigori's room, you are greeted to the sight of Grigori tied to a chair with thick steel cables. His arms, including his damaged one, are also similarly tied behind him, Coller is inches behind, likely to prevent him from using his magic should he attempt to turn the situation around. The most striking feature of the room however, is the fact that Sophia is standing directly in front of the poor ice magician, with a high-heel clad foot stuck into Grigori's chest, around the kidney region. Grigori has clearly been bleeding from his mouth, and his arm is still as broken as it was when you had last seen him. Well, after whatever Anna has put the hapless assassin through in the past few minutes, it might actually be in a worse way than it was when Alura had smashed it."Am I... interrupting something?" Still, the scene could easily be construed of something of an entirely different nature. Anna seems to have taken a little too quickly to the idea of torturing Grigori, as it seems she has resorted immediately to torture, and skipped over the questioning stage entirely. Unfortunate, considering that Grigori hadn't actually betrayed you at all. Her overenthusiasm has just caused the Russian some severe damage. Closer inspection reveals not only physical blunt trauma, but small cuts on his left shoulder, as well as some fairly horrible looking electric burns on his neck."Ah, boss, you've returned!" All things considered, Grigori seems fairly chipper. "I seem to have been accidentally assigned a service I did not request. If you would, could you kindly inform these two lovely ladies that I have no wish for their attentions? This betrayal thing the black haired one keeps going on about is getting quite boring to keep listening to." Coller's face remains as blank as ever while Anna simply scowls at the nonchalant attitude of the assassin.
"Coller, cover his mouth please, I've had enough of his quips." The robotic girl standing behind Grigori claps her hand tightly around Grigori's mouth, eliciting Grigori to cast an unimpressed gaze towards his torturer. "I'm glad you have returned, as you see, the traitor was in his cabin the entire time, he didn't even react in time to stop Coller from knocking him unconscious." An annoyed look crosses her face. "But he won't admit to anything!" Yes, probably because he has no idea what you're even talking about. Still, impressive that he's so nonplussed about being tortured, even if Anna is clearly quite the amateur. "But, where is Lady Sophia? And who's the girl?" >Introduce Effi and reveal the truth behind 'Grigori's' Betrayal before you have her release her captive.>Have Anna release Grigori from his bindings before you speak any further, then introduce Effi.>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him.>Scold Anna for getting ahead of herself and torturing Grigori before you had decided what you were going to do with him. Wow, this April Fools thing is kind of horribly annoying in that it just swallowed my Trip.Rest in Peace, Tripcode. This would've been nightmarish if quests were still on an IDless board.
>>4169972>Sophia is standing directly in front of the poor ice magician,Damn, she really wanted to kick him even when she knows he isn't a traitor. Was it supposed to be Anna?>>4169974>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him.Gotta take responsibility as the boss, and get him free asap.>Scold Anna for getting ahead of herself and torturing Grigori before you had decided what you were going to do with him. As it stands, he isn't a traitor at all!I assume the latter portion of the lower vote is explaining Effi. Also Grigori a boss.
>>4169974>Introduce Effi and reveal the truth behind 'Grigori's' Betrayal before you have her release her captive.
>>4170069Huh, I would'a thought you'd support reprimanding our allies.
>>4169974>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him.Man can't get a break.
>>4170072Well, I feel like there'll be time to tell them off later; I like to prioritize explanation.Besides, it's not as though she could've known about the doppelganger. As far as the situation runs from Anna's perspective, she was perfectly justified; and she showed great initiative, too!
>>4170103From my point of view she jumped the gun instead of waiting for us to actually decide his fate. Not sure we want to encourage this kind of behaviour, since it can lead to misunderstandings.Imagine if we were having this conversation without having found Effy.
>>4169974>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him. He's been pretty cool (heh) about this whole "Getting Tortured" thing, so us taking responsibility is in order.
>>4169974>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him.Huh, he's not that bothered by the torture. Maybe he's used to it? Whatever the case, he doesn't deserve this. Get the ice bro out of those cables. Did Anna get Coller to put those on anyway?
>>4170037>Was it meant to be Anna?Oops.Yes, guess I was more tired than I thought when I wrote that.
>>4169974>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him.Based Grigori. This is a remarkable show of mental fortitude. Poor show Anna.
>>4170111>Imagine if we were having this conversation without having found Effy. That was sort of my point. In that case, I'd be praising her initiative. I can see that the majority is against me, though, so I guess there's not much point in arguing my position more. I am pretty shocked most of you actually seem to like Grigori, though.
>>4170600>Not liking based GrigoriYou have odd tastes.I'm just glad that between Grigori and (hopefully) Effy, we finally have some team members that don't want to fuck Arthur.Aside from the robot, I mean. Can't wait for Coller to achieve sentience and put an end to that.I think Effy is an actual child so lets leave her out of the waifufaggotry. Please.
>>4169974>>Introduce Effi and reveal the truth behind 'Grigori's' Betrayal before you have her release her captive.Don't cut the ropes. They may be Coller's organs or some shit. Robots.
>>4169974>>Apologize to Grigori and free him using the Power of Destruction to generate just enough energy to slice through those cables binding him.So this is who Alura got her Dom energies from, huh.
>>4171518Like Mother like Daughter.
You walk further into the room, leaving Effi standing at the door alone. "My apologies, Grigori. It seems that there was something of a... case of mistaken identity, so to speak." You walk over to the bound man and look at the robotic girl holding his mouth shut. "Coller, please release Grigori.""Understood." Thankfully, Coller doesn't have some conflict between your order and Anna's own as she releases her hands and steps away from Grigori. The absolute obedience represented by Coller is quite useful. It's good that she your orders seem to be able to overrule Anna's own, otherwise dealing with her in the future might become rather bothersome, having to tiptoe around all sorts of persisting orders merely to get her to follow a new one. The same likely holds true with Anna being able to overrule your own orders to her though. You note that you haven't spent much time with Anna or Coller during this cruise, more important matters always seemed to spring up. Getting to know Anna a little better might help reinforce the loyalty she already feels, and knowing Coller's true capabilities would obviously help you better take advantage of her hard-coded loyalty to you."Arthur. Before you go ahead and release that man, I think you ought to have a look at this." Anna draws your attention from freeing Grigori just as you're about to bring forth the energy required to cut him loose from those dangerously thick cables. On closer inspection, they appear to have actually been welded rather than simply tied. Looks like they didn't want to take any chances of his escape, did Coller weld them? Where could those thick cables have even come from? Doesn't seem like a normal thing for anybody to just keep with them. Did they steal them from somewhere?"What could be so important that you decided you needed to skip waiting for my approval and simply torture Grigori without my approval?" Wordlessly Anna picks up the black bag in the corner of the room and tips it's contents on the floor. Heavy paper wrapped blocks come tumbling from the bag. The writing on the blocks themselves is in Russian, however, so you can't really determine what meaning the wrapped parcels might have. "I don't really follow you here, Anna." Whatever this is though, Anna appears confirmed."I don't speak Russian, but thankfully, Coller informed me she has been taught over 120 distinct languages, not counting dialects." She smiles. "So, tell us Coller, what does this say?" Anna turns to her robotic servant, the expressionless look on Coller's face appearing disinterested as always, and holds out one of the blocks. "There's really no need for all this, if you really want to know, I'll-" He doesn't get to finish speaking before the emotionless voice of Coller cuts over the top of him, completely ignoring the man.
"The text reads 'Composition C-4 High Explosive. Danger. Property of the RuAF.' Furthermore, a test on it's chemical composition confirms the contents as C4 High Explosives." For a robotic simulacrum of a human obviously made using magic, Coller sure does seem to have a vast knowledge base."The RuAF??" The acronym doesn't sound familiar to you at all."Russia's armed forces, the soldiers I took it from certainly weren't making good use of it, and I decided it might come in helpful. You never know when you might need to cause an explosion, you know? Though I have no idea why they decided to label it" Grigori finally manages to re-enter the conversation. "Now, I don't think you should be judging me based on that." The quite badly beaten man sighs as he looks up at you. "Sometimes a job needs all variety of tools in order to succeed, relying simply on my magic would be an excellent way of getting myself killed."You suppose the presence of the explosives may have given Anna a little more reason to have attacked Grigori and tried to extract information from him the way she did. "But why would you carry it around with you like that and not simply store it in a safehouse somewhere?" Surely such items are inconvenient to simply carry around in case you might find a need of them."I'm on a job right now, Boss. Remember? Just because it's impossible to fulfill now doesn't mean that the equipment I prepared for it will all simply up and vanish." Ah, of course. He was after the person making some sort of deal with the monster smuggler. However, this does provide a wonderful opportunity to draw Effi into the conversation."It's probably about time I cut you out of those bindings, honestly, I think that you've defended yourself well enough that I don't think you're plotting to blow the ship to hell, at least." You quickly move back towards Grigori, and with a single finger on your right hand, call forth a tiny sliver of energy, just enough to cut through the thick wires binding him. He slowly gets up from his chair, testing the damage dealt to him as he does, luckily, it seems he is still capable of walking. "Anyway, speaking of the late monster dealer, allow me to introduce our latest recruit who has been brought to us thanks to him." You walk back to the door towards Effi, who is still just staring at the room apprehensively. "This is Effi. She's a Doppelgänger." Realization flashes on Anna and Grigori's face at almost the exact same moment. "Anna, as you might have guessed, the reason Grigori doesn't seem to recall betraying us is because Effi here decided to take his form in order to sow dissent among our ranks. Fortunately, she's apologized and has promised to work with us from now on."
At the mention of her name, Effi finally decides to enter the room, looking at both Anna and Grigori with a devilish glint as she crosses her arms and smirks. "Hello there, you pitiful humans. I am Effigy, and you will refer to me only as Lady Effigy, as inferior lifeforms like yourselves should." Well, that was certainly... unexpected. Despite that overly haughty introduction towards your human followers, her tattered apparel don't really help her get across any sort of nobility or elegance. It isn't helped by her current form being so short either. Because of all this the shapeshifters's introduction is more cute than it is intimidating. Though if this is how she greeted humans before, it's really no wonder she doesn't have any friends.Anna looks unimpressed by the small girl's attempted display of superiority, while Grigori is failing to suppress a laugh. An awkward silence comes into the room as it looks as if nobody really knows what to say to keep the conversation going. You decide to end the silence with a cough. "Anyway, introductions aside, Effi here took the form of Grigori when she attacked me with ice magic." That wipes the smug smirk Grigori is directing towards the Doppelgänger right off of his face. "Later, I managed to corner her with the help of Sophia, who is currently a few decks up, clearing out a few monsters that might have escaped from their confinement, no doubt the work of that dead monster dealer." "Oh, so that's why she isn't with you? A pity, I was hoping to be able to speak with her." Anna frowns in disappointment. "I suppose it will simply have to wait for a later date then. It's not crucial that I speak with her, after all." "Oh, there is one more thing that you might be interested in in particular, Grigori. It turns out Effi here overheard the name of your target, the man buying all these monsters. Though I'm not sure how much good simply the name 'Blinov' will do you, it's a lead at least." Hopefully, the news that Grigori can still fulfill his previous job ought to offset the thankfully fairly mild torture he just underwent at the hands of Anna.Admirably, Grigori doesn't let his injuries slow him at all as he paces the room in thought "Blinov... Blinov... It feels somewhat familiar, but I'll need to do some investigation when I get to land if I actually want to find them just from that." It looks as if the lead might be of some use to Grigori after all. It's really the least you could give him after the undeserved treatment he's been given.
"Why are you ignoring me?!" Effi shouts, clearly quite angry at how quickly the two humans in the room seem to have almost entirely dismissed her. As much as you can't say that her being ignored wasn't entirely unwarranted, her reaction of confused anger does kind of make you feel bad for the small Doppelgänger. Seems that when she's in her current form, that she's less than excellent at being social despite the talent she's otherwise shown when transformed. Could she have been mimicking social skills and body language in addition to their appearance? It would explain her social ineptitude in this form, at least.Anna expertly ignores Effi demanding attention. "Well, now that we've got that out of the way, should we return to our cabins? We might have to collect Alura and that fledgling vampire that she seems to have taken a liking to on our way.You don't really see a reason to loiter in Grigori's cabin any longer, so there's shouldn't be any harm in following through with that. "Of course. It's been a long day, and I could do with some time to relax." Hopefully, you won't suddenly be forced into yet another crisis aboard this blasted ship. It's really just been one thing after another.Effi seems to have given up on getting the attention of Anna and Grigori by shouting at them, and simply walks by your side as you lead the way back to your cabin. Oddly enough, she doesn't seem to have paid any notice to Coller whatsoever. Before long, you finally find yourself back at the door to your cabin, though as you go to open the door, a low growling apparently coming from within your own cabin gives you pause. It sounds like one of those giant wolf creatures that you were trapped in that room with!>Draw your revolver with your left and prepare to use the Power of Destruction with your right. >Send Coller in first, physically, she's the most powerful among you right now.>Send Grigori in first, you're sure he can handle it.>Knock to see if there's any sort of response.>Write-in...

Somewhere in RomaniaOctober 13th - Sunday 3:40AMTwo stone sculptures sit atop a hill, overgrown with vines and unmoving, the weather has eroded away most of the detail that once adorned the once grand looking display. The sculptures themselves appear to have once been mighty carved statues of two sphinxes staring into the others eyes. Between the statues lies a broken ring of dull golden metal, having collapsed from it's suspended position above the statues decades ago when the columns supporting it were reclaimed by the nature surrounding the portal. Aside from the center of the sculpture, the area has been completely overgrown with brambles.Suddenly, the dull metal of the ring starts to shine a brilliant gold! In a bizarre display of power, it begins to crackle with blue electricity as it raises itself into the air, approximating where it had once been held by the now destroyed columns. The electricity grows fiercer and fiercer in intensity until it stops altogether, and a beam of white light crashes down from the sky onto the ring of gold! The light soon fades, leaving behind two figures in it's wake. The first to step from the portal is an imposing looking black haired man wearing an expensive looking suit, easily over six foot. The second is a shorter girl with a short dress that appears to have been somewhat modified for combat, though the stylistic choice of the large ribbon on the back ought to make the ensemble highly impractical to actually fight in.The man walks out as the girl queasily stumbles after him. "Genya-sensei...? Why- What was that?" She's almost green in the face as she forces out a question towards the older man."That, Kokoro. Was how it feels to be teleported, I understand that the experience is quite disorienting for most, especially if it's their first time experiencing it." The older and taller man informs the confused girl. "Of course, we normally would have taken a more conventional form of travel, but time is of the essence here, and I can't remain absent from my own duties for long.""Ok... but why... here?" Kokoro gestures around at the area, true enough, there's nothing to be seen but the overgrowth and the occasional peak outwards from the hill, showing nothing but forest for miles all around."Because, Kokoro, this is our assigned meeting point where we will wait for the others, who ought to be arriving in the next few hours" The older figure says, almost chastising the younger girl's impatience.Kokoro slumps at the reveal that the two of them will simply be standing in the middle of nowhere and waiting. Potentially for hours. Such a wait would be absolutely unbearable, especially with so little space to move about in.
"But there was a reason that this was chosen as our meeting point over our other potential rendezvous points. Now, Kokoro, if you would follow me, you'll soon see what I mean." Arikado turns towards the brambles growing behind him and puts a hand on the sword dangling from it's hilt tied about his waist. In an almost imperceptibly fast manner, he had drawn the sword and cut away dozens of the plants blocking their path, swiftly sheathing it once again when a path had been cut. "Show-off." Kokoro grumbles at the display as the man walks into the newly uncovered center of the now destroyed bramble patch. In the center is what seems to be a destroyed piece of a church, for whatever reason lying dozens of miles from any place of worship. The man pushes aside the multiple ton of rock with practiced ease as he uncovers a set of stairs leading downwards. Kokoro found herself somewhat envious of the man's casual display of strength. Of course, knowing the source of his quite literally inhuman strength made it sting a little less. She could probably still have pushed the stone aside with a great effort, but unlike her sister and apparently also her brother, she had never really developed the physical strength that she had expected she would. She was confident in her speed however, and was sure that she could keep up with Arikado no matter how much of his true power he brought out. "Well Kokoro? Are you coming? Or would you prefer to stay up here?" Arikado questions the girl as he heads down the stone steps."Oh! Right away, Genya-sensei!" The girl dashes towards the steps and soon begins her own descent as she follows her teacher. As she walks down the steps, Arikado speaks once again "Kokoro, you don't have to keep calling me that. I already told you that Alucard is fine when I don't need to use an alias, didn't I?"The girl makes a complicated expression as she seems to think on her answer deeply. "I think I'll stick to Genya-sensei anyway! Calling you by two names would just get confusing..." Accidentally referring to him as Alucard to the wrong person could be a disaster, after all.Arikado sighs at the somewhat foolhardy girl "Very well, do as you wish." No more words are exchanged until the pair reach the bottom of the steps, stopping momentarily at a heavy steel door with a keypad to the side in a concrete corridor."What is this place, Genya-sensei?" Kokoro looks around the small concrete tunnel the stairs lead into as if to discern the truth behind it's existence from the pale grey walls.
The door swings open as the combination is correctly entered. The room it hid is a fairly comfortable looking lounge, there's even a fireplace! Though how that would work underground is anyone's guess. But the most notable aspect of the room was the giant map of the world plastered on the side of the wall, with 3 differently colored splotches of ink. One splotch, the black one, was positioned in central Japan. While a cyan splotch covered the southern coast of Italy. But the stain on the map with the most odd positioning was the red splotch of ink, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. "This, Kokoro, is a bunker that was built in secrecy in case any of those that our organization confirmed to be potential inheritors of Dracula's Powers ever disappeared from the normal methods of surveillance. That map will track them wherever they may go."
>>4172085Ah, for fucks sake.So we are the red stain, Soma is the black one and Graham is the cyan one? Unless Soma is italian, he IS an exchange student in the translation.

Oh and we aren't sinking the ship now. No way.Not unless we want to die. They are very likely aware of our exact whereabouts by now.Do you think Sophia's pocket dimension could hide us?
>>4172790I'll still support it, since if we go through with it and they still find us, Arthur would have more reason to think they have some method of knowing his location. As for the map and pocket dimensions... That would depend on if the map has a "Last Known Location" feature.
Doesn't look like I'll be able to get an update out today.Apologies everyone.
>>4173777S'all good QM.Everything all right?
>>4174186Yeah yeah, just a horrible schedule is all.
Without a word, you draw your revolver, taking care to remain absolutely silent as you do so. You raise your right hand to your mouth, shushing your other allies in case they decided that now would be a decent time to make a noise. You have no real idea what awaits you in your own room, but there is simply no way you are allowing yourself to be ambushed by it. Making sure the Revolver is fully loaded with a spin of the cylinder, you silently slot your key into the door, twisting it in the keyhole and pushing the door forwards as silently as you can, the noise you make is minimal, and you're certain that unless whatever has taken to your room saw you, that the attempt of a silent infiltration into your own room was a success. The curtains are drawn despite the day having already ended and the room is absent of any sort of natural light and even the artificial light generated by the bulbs overhead, instead the room is lit only by strange glowing flower bulbs. However the glowing bulbs aren't even close to the oddest source of light in the room, strange red motes of light the color of blood flit about erratically, almost like embers. The two sources of light combining into a crimson glow that envelops the entire room, the well kept garden almost looking as if it had been drenched in blood due to the choice of lighting the room. Immediately after taking note of the lighting you spot the source of the heavy breathing and almost jump out of your own skin, sleeping almost directly in front of the door is one of those wolf creatures that you barely managed an escape from, had it been a foot closer to the door, it would've been practically impossible to open it. Except there's only one now, so if it's the same as the ones from before you can't tell. It seems to be a fair bit bigger than any of the monsters you had been locked in the room with. You're just about to take aim at the beast to kill it in it's sleep before the dainty click of porcelain gives you pause, causing you to look deeper in the room. Despite the lighting of the room, you can barely make out what caused the noise. A shadowed beast hunched over, the winged monstrosity would easily be over 12 foot tall if it extended to it's full height. The horrifying creature has claws that look as if they would easily rend through bone and even metal and mighty wings that would easily allow it to take to the skies. The threat this monsters represents feels so significant that you find yourself forgetting the wolf creature altogether, and just as you're about to take aim at the monster, the red motes of light floating around the room seem to gather towards the horrifying beast composed of shadows.
As the lights get closer, the terrifying visage of the beast seems to fade away like paper burning in a fire, instead leaving only a girl sitting at the table, a teacup full of red liquid sitting next to her. Despite being in the place of what could only have been a demon mere moments ago, Sophia seems completely normal, if concerned at how you were currently looking at her, apprehension in your eyes. "What's wrong, Arthur? You look awfully pale. I would offer you a cup, but I doubt we share a taste for it as you are now." Well, that confirms that she's taken to using your cabin as some sort of twisted tearoom for the consumption of human blood. "I take it you were successful in preventing that fool assassin's premature expiration?" She asks almost with disinterest at to the actual result. You look at the woman sitting opposite you, there's not a single trace of the monster you had first taken her for in the darkness, but the memory of the terrifying beast is still fresh on your mind. "Oh, I'm... fine. I think my eyes were just playing tricks on me is all. As for Grigori, he's a little worse for wear, but he'll be fine. I don't think Anna or Coller did any lasting damage to him that can't be fixed by natural healing. I can't help but notice the giant wolf beside the door though, I thought you were going to simply kill them, not invite one of them into my home.""Oh, you mean Fenrir? Well, it's quite the story. After I left you and dealt with that little... mistake... That had been made, I made my way up to these beasts that were apparently only moments from breaking out and causing yet more carnage aboard the vessel. Though something quite curious had happened. Fenrir here had slain all four of his siblings and devoured their corpses quite thoroughly. These creatures have quite an appetite, it seems, as by the time I had arrived, there were barely even any bones left of the weaker beasts!" You manage to rein in your disgust at the larger wolf so happily indulging in cannibalism, but you suppose it's a better result than the five prowling the corridors and slaughtering the crew and passengers indiscriminately would be. "Of course, it posed no threat to me, and I simply decided that such a creature would be better suited as a pet then as a trophy on a wall somewhere. It was quite the simple matter, twisting it's mind. It was of course more intelligent than a simple animal, but it was still an easy task nonetheless. Now he only lives to serve me. There's really no need to be so apprehensive near him, he won't attack anybody unless I wish him to." She lifts the teacup from the table and takes a minuscule sip from it, careful not to spill any of the lifeblood held within.
"I suppose that explains things well enough, but what reason could you have had for... adopting such a beast as a pet?" Sophia seems powerful enough as it is, surely her summoning skills and those bats of hers would suffice? What reason could she have had for taking control of such a savage beast?"You already ought to know my demon summoning woes. Many of the entities I had summoned were far too intelligent to willingly submit to me as I had hoped they would, always claiming that their superior age made them superior for whatever reason." She sets the teacup down, hand lightly trembling in what you can only assume to be a quiet rage. "That I was still too 'inexperienced' to be allowed to command them. Oftentimes they even attempted possession or offering deals and upon realizing my superior power to their own they then attempted to flee from me in any manner they could. Most even chose death, as they would simply return to their place of origin when their physical body died." She stands up and walks over to the sleeping beast, which lazily raises it's eye to look at her."I wasn't quite so aware of just how much trouble that they had been giving you. Are they really so fickle that they would even temporarily experience death just to escape from servitude?""Unfortunately so, there are only a few things I'm aware of that can control demons and I'm only capable of one of them. The one I am capable of is contract magic of sufficient power, wherein the demon is magically bound to the rules of a contract, the penalty for breaking the rules would normally be death, however, with a few tweaks of the basic theory behind the spell, I altered it so instead of simple death, the penalty for breaking the terms of the contract is the complete and utter obliteration of the soul. Even a demon would die for real should their soul be destroyed or otherwise taken." It's quite a fascinating revelation about the nature of demons, but you're not sure how relevant it is to why Sophia wanted the giant wolf monster."So you wanted it because you were having difficulty binding demons to your will, even with that contract magic of yours?" You decide to get things back on track with a question directed at the rather talkative vampire. Her penchant for getting distracted from the matter at hand is informative, but also quite distracting.
"Well, it's quite difficult to trick demons into agreeing to contracts. Especially without them demanding to know every term they would be agreeing to first. But in truth, there's another reason I decided Fenrir would be a useful pet for me. By now, you've dealt with having to dispose of corpses have you not? I think you would agree that it is quite the time consuming task, to take care that the bodies of deceased humans are never found." For some reason, Sophia raises an arm and a few of her bats seems to flicker off of it like shadows that take the form of bats, clinging to the ceiling of the room. "While I can dispose of bodies with my bats, it's still something I would have to direct myself, and I dislike the task." She pats the huge beast lazing next to her with a hand. "Fenrir however is exceptionally useful for tasks like that disposing of bodies though! The beasts have a remarkable appetite, but even more remarkable is why that is the case. You see, I'm not familiar with monsters at all, but from what I can tell about him, Fenrir here seems to somehow convert whatever it devours into magical energy entirely!" The giant wolf appreciatively raises it's head as Sophia continues to pet it. "Of course, the energy has to go somewhere, so it skips the biological processes and directly increases his size, though there is a limit to it, I've noticed he's decreased in size slightly in the past hour or so. So it's not like he'll simply continue increasing in size without limit." She goes back to the table and to her teacup. "Still, with such an interesting magical attribute I thought that the name Fenrir was quite apt."You aren't all too familiar with Norse mythology, but you were vaguely familiar with the story of Fenrir. The wolf that devoured Odin during Ragnarök, if you remember correctly. You wonder just how much truth there is to the old myths and legends that you had once disregarded as being mere fiction and fairytales. Though now there's an actual fairy, a powerful one, apparently, sleeping in your pocket. You don't really think even 'fairytale' isn't an appropriate word to refer to fictional stories with anymore. "I suppose it is, yes."As you go to finally take a seat opposite Sophia instead of simply standing inside the room aimlessly, there's something of a commotion outside, confused yelling and the sound of something slamming against something with quite the force. With complete calmness, Sophia merely takes another sip from the teacup "You probably ought to go and check up on your allies before your plant decides it would prefer your assassin to be in multiple pieces." Her voice is completely calm as you quickly leave the room.
You can hear the events outside perfectly clearly as you approach the door to leave the room "Well now! What a surprise! You and your robot did quite well in capturing this pest." As you open the door you immediately spot Grigori dangling upside down, suspended in the air by a thorned vine tightly wrapped around his ankle. Blood trickles down his leg and stains his clothing further.Grigori just looks fed up. With everything. He's not showing any signs of pain either. Just disappointment. "I really should have figured that this was going to happen." He catches your eye as you leave the room. "You don't suppose you could tell Alura that I haven't betrayed you? I've really had just about enough torture I can stomach for one day already."Alura stands a fair distance away, Holly at her side. The thorny vine entangling the unfortunate magician having sprouted from the ceiling to ensnare him. Her voice still carries despite her distance though. "Oh I'm so glad you waited for me before disposing of him completely. It's just a pity that you seem to have started on torturing him before taking him back here." Anna shuffles nervously as she looks at Alura then to you and then to Effi, who doesn't seem to really know what to make of things. Looks like Anna has decided to leave the explanation to you."Let him go Alura, Grigori has yet to betray us. In truth, it was merely a Doppelgänger taking on his appearance." Alura's focused gaze quickly shifts away from the battered looking Russian. She then finally takes note of the yellow eyed girl standing and almost hiding behind Coller. "A Doppelgänger? A shapeshifter then?" She brushes some hair out of her eyes as the vine throws Grigori aside like one would discard a piece of trash.Grigori gets off of the floor and dusts himself off, you can tell the man is getting tired of constantly being abused by your allies "I haven't had beatings like these since I had to infiltrate some Middle Eastern prison to get a target. Really takes me back. I wasn't a fan of them then, either, for the record." He then tears a scrap of white fabric off of his cloak and leans down to tend to his fresh wound.Holly remains quiet throughout the exchange, only smiling briefly and giving a small wave when she notices you looking at her. But with her and Alura's arrival, your entire group has finally managed to get together in it's entirety. Hopefully there won't be any more nasty surprised in store aboard this ship, but you get the feeling that now you've dealt with Effi's surprise, there couldn't possibly be more in stock for you aboard the vessel.
Thankfully, this leaves you with a lot of spare time to spend, finally unburdened from having to spend all your time solving the multiple dangerous situations that popped up one after another and this accursed boat. But the question is just how you're going to spend that time...>>(Vote for two, the two options with the highest amount of votes will be selected)>Focus on bettering yourself physically and with your weapons.>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.>Focus on trying to improve your relationships with your allies (Choose up to three of them)>Focus on attempting to learn magic with Sophia's guidance.>Write-in...
>>4174520>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.>Focus on trying to improve your relationships with your allies (Anna, Coller, Holly)I figure any effort put into learning magic and physical training would only be marginally more immediately useful.
>>4174520>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.Big Fat Unknowns that still need to be ironed out, as much as learning how to Majyk or getting /fit/ would definitely benefit this is one of the more important things to do out of the bunch.>Focus on trying to improve your relationships with your allies (Holly, Effi, Grigori)We still need to figure out how to help Holly control her impulses, Effi is also probably new to thing whole thing so it's best to help her ease in. Grigori is just a personal choice.
>>4174520>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.>Focus on trying to improve your relationships with your allies (Sophia, Anna, Effi)
>>4174569Alright, I'll swap Coller for Effi.Coller is probably hanging out with Anna anyway.
>>4174520>Focus on bettering yourself physically and with your weapons.>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.Get swole. Our physical abilities are the most important in combo with the PoD. The power to destroy anything is quite useless if you can't actually hit anyone with it.I don't want us to be the physically weakest link among our actually useful in combat allies, and I think that we ought to have a higher potential than the human vampire hunters like Shirley and Kokoro.

>>4174520>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.>Focus on bettering yourself physically and with your weapons.I would be interested in social contact, but given that the most popular choice includes Holly and Grigori...

>>4174520>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.>Focus on trying to improve your relationships with your allies(Grigori, Effi, Anna)I feel like these are either our newest allies or ones we have otherwise spent time with. Coller is up there as well but we have known Anna longer but really haven't said much since getting on the boat. And honestly I just like Grigori, the dork.
>>4174704You convinced me.>>4174520Change from >>4174606 to>Focus on bettering yourself physically and with your weapons.>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.
>>4175151Any physical training shouldn't be enough to get even close to whatever level Kokoro is at, and nowhere near reverse dracula.Focusing on having better relationships will have far more immediate returns.I'd compare it to addition and multiplication, we'd be adding +2 to our stats if we physically train, but we'd x2 our effectiveness if we have better team cohesion.
>>4175168Keep in mind that putting off training until later will exacerbate the problem. And it is inevitable that we will be put into a scenario where we don't have allies to rely on in the moment.
>>4175185I don't disagree, but the last 3-5 days of the cruise wont make such an overwhelming difference if we pursue that type of training, especially since all our allies will still be with us for the foreseeable future.Probably at least until broody ganks us.
>>4175168Focusing on strengthening our teamwork at the expense of personal power runs the risk of us ending up a weak-link puppetmaster. The DL should be stronger than any of his subordinates. Even if PT only works towards that incrementally it's worth it. Obviously things like the crimson stone and furthering our connection with Chaos are bigger jumps in power but you can't ignore the basics.
Dammit, Sophia. I hope you potty trained him.>>4174520>Focus on trying to get a better understanding of the Power of Destruction.>Focus on bettering yourself physically and with your weapons.
>>4175192Ok, but this is a few days, not a few weeks or months. Happy allies that are all individually strong > Higher accuracy and maybe agilityFor the short term at least. Once we're settled somewhere I'd vote for it but this isn't the time.
>>4175191>the last 3-5 days of the cruise wont make such an overwhelming difference if we pursue that type of trainingIt seems to me that this is the kind of mentality that keeps people from working out in real life. We should be training our basic physical combat ability a little bit every day in order to gradually build a strong foundation for the more effective use of our powers. Even though no individual training session will get us a huge improvement, it's the training over time that makes the biggest difference.
>>4175206People in real life don't have to worry about getting ganked by Dracula's son with his trainee chosen-by-god-bloodline sidekick.I simply don't believe this is the optimal time for that type of training, especially when there's a more immediately effective increase in teamwork efficiency alternative.
>>4175204>>4175210This is exactly the kind of thinking I'm talking about. You have to make these decisions consistently, on a day-to-day basis, knowing that it won't pay off for some time. That's where the discipline of the training comes in.Arthur lives a dangerous life. If you want him to wait for the ideal safe time to train, he'll be waiting forever. We have to snatch every opportunity we can to train consistently no matter what kind of circumstances we're in.
>>4175191>but the last 3-5 days of the cruise wont make such an overwhelming difference if we pursue that type of trainingNewbie gains my dude. Always the biggest.
>>4175210Man, I bet you voted against the Belmont body belt, too.
>>4175214>>4175215>>4175219It's not like Arthur doesn't already exercize his body regularly, this was already gone over in like the second thread. This vote is simply voting to be autistic about his already existing regimen. I don't think it's the most effective move in this situation. And QM has said we can get the belt at a later date, but I'm the guy who wants to use the power of destruction as a gun for effectiveness reasons so take that as you will.
>>4175226>doing some situps and push ups in the morning>equivalent of actually getting down to businessBruh. Staying in shape isn't getting strong.
>>4175226>It's not like Arthur doesn't already exercize his body regularly>This vote is simply voting to be autistic about his already existing regimen.Obviously his old regimen will work perfectly well for him now. It isn't as though he's just received a major boost to his capabilities that has radically changed things for him and that he's still having trouble getting used to...Oh, wait. Remember the line during our fight with the slugs about how Arthur still didn't really have solid control over the wind boosts because he didn't have enough practice or expertise using them? That certainly falls under the kind of thing to be worked out in physical training as far as I can see. Then again, as you say you're the person who thinks the Power of Destruction would be most useful as a finger-gun, so there's probably not much point in trying to get you to see the value of a hand-to-hand combat training regimen.
>>4175226>I'm the guy who wants to use the power of destruction as a gunKnew it. You've been trying to fuck us over all along. You're probably a church plant.
>>4175237The Dorin organization has long arms indeed.
>>4175231OK? My entire argument was based around it not being the most efficient use of our time in this specific situation. 3-5 days wont make such an overwhelming improvement that it would overshadow better teamwork. In addition to that the train of thought trap that modern people follow that prevents them from exercising doesn't exist in Arthur to begin with since he already has his own schedule. If this wasn't an exclusive vote I'd have voted for all of them cause they're all important, but the benefit for that specific vote is outweighed by the the other.>>4175235What are we gonna face in the immediate future? The son of the previous Dark Lord and his apprentice. If we're going hand to hand against them we've already fucked up pretty badly.>>4175237>>4175239>modeling your power to delete anything on one of the most efficient weapons ever designed.>sabotage
>>4174520> Focus on getting better at blowjobs.
>>4175246>>modeling your power to delete anything on one of the most efficient weapons ever designed.Which our finger is not. Our finger does not create a contained explosion in a tube to fling a piece of metal. The power of destruction is not a gun. It doesn't work like a gun. It won't function like a gun. It would be more efficient as a brush than a gun. It would be most efficient as a hand. So yes what you want is sabotage since it is using something in a subpar fashion intentionally. The power of destruction doesn't even rely on traditional physics to attain it's lethal properties. Shit man the most dangerous form for the power of destruction is a thin sheet that is very wide. It just erases things it comes into contact with so the best way to use it is to maximize its surface area, not mimic something that operates under completely different rules to attain an entirely different purpose.I hate you.
>>4175250Isn't that a job for one of the many girls Arthur has in his party right now?
>>4175263>flyswatter is the bestwaste of energy.note I said most efficient, not most destructive.one point destroys anything it comes in contact with moving faster than can be perceived is the most efficient method of utilizing it. so long as you can hit weak points you'll always win.as for propulsion... do I really have to go back into instantaneous movement that's already been observed as possible by our power?>>4175250what is up with the dicksucking posts in quests lately.
>>4175250Heh. Blowjobs. Blowing up the ship is a job, right? :^)
>>4175246>If we're going hand to hand against them we've already fucked up pretty badly. This bullshit is why it feels like you're trying to sabotage the quest. QM sets up great dramatic hooks and people like you say "let's sink the ship in the middle of the ocean to avoid being tracked" or "make sure we avoid that boss fight or handle it in the least interesting way possible, it sounds dangerous." If we were a Belmont you'd want us to bomb Dracula's castle instead of going in. Lame as fuck, dude. It's Castlevania. Have some fun.

>>4175494>removal of evidence is no reason.>actually good reason for the ridiculous number of deaths on board is no reason.I have a hard time taking "gas leak" deaths seriously.A ship sink that had a panic though? Even if nobody died during the evacuation and rescue it's more believable for being the cause of deaths. How would it derail anything? Alucard and Kokoro know exactly where we are at all times, they'll find us no matter what. This course of action would only give Arthur significant reason to believe they're surveiling him. And reaching land is the end of the Boat Arc, we've apparently discovered most of the surprises on board, which is why we're voting on how to spend the last days of the trip.
>>4175494>>4175504Also, where is this "stay on the rails anon, the rails anon!" coming from? If we weren't allowed to take actions we pleased, there would be no write-in option.I seriously do no understand how acting like an intelligent person derails the story in any way.Suddenly flipping to being a good guy would derail the story however, so I don't understand the lack of focus on those people, and the focus on me.
>>4175520>I seriously do no understanddo not*
>>4175520>Suddenly flipping to being a good guy would derail the story howeverYou mean like how we suddenly flipped to "evil" because people wanted to bang a plant, and how people want to sink a boat and kill people because "it's evil?"
>>4175525How was it sudden? Even if we didn't tell Alura we wanted to be her companion, we still would've let a man eating plant on the loose after we played dead for her. We just sympathized with her circumstances and were like "oh you feed on people? ok."That dude wanted to seal the deal, we're already neutral evil, he just didn't want people to swim upriver.
>>4175529Go fucking reason the first few threads again. >>4175540>The entire reason people jumped into the dark lord route was because they wanted a fucking vampire waifu and an alura une waifu.Ok? That's deciding where you want the character to go. He surrounds himself with allies that are of reasonable assistance, and attempts to deal with things that interfere with his business.Being upfront doesn't make you stupid, it's a personality choice.>the entire player base has spent two threads telling you it's a stupid idea. And I've yet to read a good reason not to do it besides "I'ts ebil!" Which is why I keep re-iterating it no matter how many people tell me how stupid it is. Because they can't even give me a good reason it's stupid.
>>4175540I wouldn't go so far as to say neutral-stupid, but we definitely have some consistency problems. The motivation for most of our decisions up to this point seems to have been either metagaming or waifuism, neither of which is really conducive to a strong character arc. This is why I've been voting to do things like killing Grigori, letting the passengers die, sinking the ship, etc: things that might solidify Arthur's perspective and motivation as someone who's sided with the monsters against humanity, because, face it, that's what we've done. The way I see it, he could have a strong, coherent arc as someone who feels betrayed and manipulated by humanity and "the forces of good," motivating him to turn fully against them and embrace the idea of becoming the dark lord and seeing mankind as his enemies. His vampire heritage as a Bernhard could play really well with this.We could've had an equally strong arc as a human who stays moral in the face of the temptation of a Dark Lord Candidate's power and dedicates himself to preventing the rise of another Dark Lord, but that's a chance we've already thrown away. There's no getting it back without things becoming totally nonsensical. Now, I'm not that attached to sinking the ship in particular; there are good arguments against it. I do want to try and get people on board to vote for a consistent character arc for Arthur, though, and not waver back and forth.
>>4175553>We could've had an equally strong arc as a human who stays moral in the face of the temptation of a Dark Lord Candidate's power and dedicates himself to preventing the rise of another Dark Lord, but that's a chance we've already thrown away. All because we chose to kill the puppet man, despite QM warnings, ???.

His vampire heritage as a Bernhard could play really well with this.Yeah this is the arc he's going down at the moment. It hasn't been completely solidified, since the Dorin organization and church still seem like nebulous entities to him, so right now he's just aligning himself with people who'll help him/keep him safe.I bet he'll jump down this road full force after his confrontation with genya-sensei.>Now, I'm not that attached to sinking the ship in particular; there are good arguments against itOh? There are some? I haven't read any, can you point them out for me?>>4175570All QM said was that it was less execution and more murderous rage. The vote didn't change even after he said it so...
>>4175549>Ok? That's deciding where you want the character to go. I fail to see how wanting the character to end up that way and the character being written to end up in a position where it's possible to achieve is a bad thing.Because then every vote is determined by that Metadecision. There's no chance to build up and see where things go, it just pushes things to an end stupidly fast and is just >Fuck off and give me my Plant/Vampire waifu already. >There were plenty of times Shirley acted suspiciously towards Arthur.Yes, because she was ordered by the Organization to not tell us anything. But every time she could, she tried to help us or get us information. Yet the Shirley hateboner persists because she's an easy target to focus on. And this also doesn't negate us literally going >Well, we've got out plant waifu now. Let's show her the implicit trust we never gave to Shirley and fuck off. >>4175549>Being upfront doesn't make you stupidDoesn't pay attention unless it hurts him or involves a waifu. Constantly waffles between wanting to murder whatever drew his attention until the GM gives us a reason not to. Does not think through the consequences of ANYTHING.Neutral Stupid is an apt descriptor. >And I've yet to read a good reason not to do it besides "I'ts ebil!" Which is why I keep re-iterating it no matter how many people tell me how stupid it is. Because they can't even give me a good reason it's stupid. You've had plenty of good reasons. It's noticable, we have no reason to, all it does is fuck up the boat arc, they're probably tracking us by magic anyways. Hell, the GM confirmed the last one which doubled down why it's stupid. You just refuse to accept it, call every good reason stupid, and keep pushing it.>>4175553Honestly, right now the best route I see Arthur is a hard neutral. We sided with Anna because she promised to help us get information. Our best defense against Alucard is straight up telling him that we were attacked by monsters and nobody fucking told us what was going on.But then, I expect tardrage and a prompt spanking.
>>4175574>It's noticable, we have no reason to, all it does is fuck up the boat arc, they're probably tracking us by magic anyways>Good reasons.A "gas leak" killing hundreds on a cruise ship is more ridiculous than hundreds dying on a sinking ship. No reason? Erasure of the insane amount of evidence something supernatural happening. Fucking up the boat arc? How is this even an argument, the arc develops as decisions influence it. Sinking the ship sounds like a more exciting end than just leaving once docked. If you wanna talk fucking up the boat arc you should complain about Effi's existence fucking up any plans of immediate peace last thread. And so what if they're tracking us via magic? How many times do I have to re-iterate that sinking the ship gives Arthur a really good reason to believe they're doing this? If we just disembark Arthur would most likely assume they just followed his trail from the incredibly suspicious ship, rather than wondering how the fuck he got found when he ditched the ship and made land somewhere completely unexpected.>Let's show her the implicit trust we never gave to Shirley and fuck off.Literally what are you talking about? We trusted Shirley enough, but every time she had a chance to confess she either ignored us or focused on something completely different. Shirley was literally Arthur only friend and she was lying to him and manipulating him. Ditching her made sense after what she did. Fuck organizational influence.>Doesn't pay attention unless it hurts him or involves a waifu. Constantly waffles between wanting to murder whatever drew his attention until the GM gives us a reason not to. Does not think through the consequences of ANYTHING.Wat? Where does this apply to any of Arthur's actions? Indignation about being surprise attacked, then calming down and thinking about the situation is how he's consistently acted. And when he isn't harmed and just talks he ends up coming to a reasonable compromise if possible. He thinks through his decisions plenty well, he ended up achieving his goal of killing Johannes very well, and that dude was playing everybody for a fool.>Arthur>Hard Neutral>When he doesn't want to be manipulatedEvil is the correct answer. Chaos likes her representative to be willful.
>>4175572>Oh? There are some? I haven't read any, can you point them out for me?It hides the evidence from people we now know don't need any evidence, and serves no concrete purpose outside of the metagame-y desire to let Arthur in on information we have, but he doesn't. The plan also relies on an ability of Alura's which is 100% speculation. We've never seen her make any kind of vehicle out of plants and have no idea whether she'd be able to construct a decent boat; for all we know, she and her creations die in saltwater. Many plants do.>>4175574>Honestly, right now the best route I see Arthur is a hard neutral. We sided with Anna because she promised to help us get information. Our best defense against Alucard is straight up telling him that we were attacked by monsters and nobody fucking told us what was going on.Sorry, but this sounds like nonsense to me, and lying to Alucard in the cowardly hope of avoiding a fight doesn't bode well. Besides, hard neutral is peak waffle, and that's what we're trying to avoid.
>>4175592>Shirley was literally Arthur only friend Shirley was literally *Arthur's only friend >>4175574Oh and,>Does not think through the consequences of ANYTHING.Yeah, he doesn't think through consequences, which is why he's proactively >>4175606>metagameyHe was considering sinking the ship when there were only 23 people dead. and an unknown number ravaged by Holly. Now there's hundreds dead. he has far more of a reason to do it now than then, and learning about their tracking magic would end up a consequence of a sequence of rational decisions that make plenty of sense.>saltwaterIt's not like they feed on water to live. They feed on blood. She seemed pretty confident about making transportation when she offered at the forest.
>>4175608proactively dealing with anything that can disrupt him.
>>4175608Look, anon. Nobody wants to sink the ship. Just let it go. You've argued about it for thread after thread, and you've never gotten majority support for it. The arc is almost over now.
>>4175613The idea will only evolve from here. This is the birth of the "Sink anything if you don't like it. Even sinking continents isn't beyond your abilities!" anon. You people did this.
>>4175592>Bunch of gymnastics. They're already using magic to track us. There is no evidence that can be hid, as Alucard can literally breathe underwater. We also have no in game reason to sink the boat, all it comes from is your attempts at pushing it. >but every time she had a chance to confess she either ignored us or focused on something completely differentAre you a fucking retard? When we told her we needed a weapon, she ran out and got us one. When we told her we kept getting attacked, she took us to a secret bunker before finding out who did it and running off to kill them. Hell, she even tried to tell us her backstory and we went "No fuck that." She did everything she could to help us, but we blew her off because she's the good aligned waifu and fuck that.>Indignation about being surprise attacked, then calming down and thinking about the situationHe never thought about the situation. His first and only reaction was "Grr, Kill Grigory." He and the players didn't get off that until the doppelganger got revealed and even then, we had a number of retards who still thought it was actually Grigory and wanted to kill him. >He thinks through his decisions plenty well>Let's walk alone into the personal dimension of an experienced vampire because lolwaifu.>Let's walk alone into the cabin the guy who we think tried to kill us entered and send our powerful friend off without us. Yeah, he really thinks things through.>Doesn't want to be manipulated>Sides with ChaosGood plan. >>4175606Hard Neutral gives us a better slide whichever direction and if I remember right, it's not a lie, Anna told us she could help us find information about what's going on. It also gives us a reason to actively oppose them if we try to talk and he starts trying to kill us. Which he will, because we made a deal with Chaos and I'm sure he can sense that shit. >Nobody wants to sink the ship. Just let it go.That isn't going to happen. We'll be 10 threads off the boat and I bet he'll still be whining about it.
>>4175623Alright, I can kind of see where you're coming from with the Alucard encounter, but what do you want long term out of "Hard Neutral"? It's not really a viewpoint that lends itself to a compelling character story. What, are we going to become the neutral dark lord, preserver of eternal balance? When you say that "hard neutral is the best route for Arthur" what do you envision for that route in the long run? Personally, I don't really see it working as a coherent motivation for the driver of a large-scale story, more of an excuse to waffle, flip back and forth, and try to play both sides. Workable for someone like Grigori, but not someone trying to become the Dark Lord.
>>4175639>"hard neutral is the best route for Arthur"I said "right now hard neutral is the best route for arthur." Mostly because it gives us a firm stepping stone with going immediately into "Idiot cackling as he murders everyone on a boat for no raisin." Honestly though, if we have a chance to get Dorin off our backs on the condition that we help them take out bigger threads, I'm all for taking it.
>>4175623>They're already using magic to track us. There is no evidence that can be hid, as Alucard can literally breathe underwater. Hell, she even tried to tell us her backstory and we went "No fuck that." wtf? We listened to her backstory and were like "so how long have you been part of this organization?" she was like "since I was born." I do not recall blowing her off about this.>She did everything she could to help us, but we blew her off because she's the good aligned waifu and fuck that.We blew her off because she continued to lie even when there was plenty of reason not to. She helped us while we were friends, but continued lying consistently.I don't even hate Shirley, I wanna recruit her. But she was acting in a way that doesn't instill much benefit of the doubt.Alura's comment that she was hiding her true power didn't help, and the revelation that she was indeed holding back when she leveled the mansion REALLY didn't help her case.>He never thought about the situation. His first and only reaction was "Grr, Kill Grigory." >Merc whos alliance was tenuous sneak attacked me!>Let's go get him and interrogate him before executing him.>not thinking things through>Let's walk alone into the cabin the guy who we think tried to kill us entered and send our powerful friend off without us. I'm suggesting high efficiency-effectiveness forms here while we're at our weakest.>>4175697>That does go both ways. Not really since you haven't debunked any of the reasons I put forth to sink the ship, just called it mental gymnastics when everything I said has plenty of IC reasoning.>Not using her power isn't enough to hate her.Yeah, but that's not the only reason. I appreciate the concern, you don't need to give me a reason. That doesn't matter to me." You tell her in a voice slightly softer than your usual. Shirley doesn't get like this often, in fact the only time you remember her showing weakness like this in front of anybody at all was around 7 years ago, just after her mother died. How is this blowing her off? It's reaffirming trust in her and her motives. We later find out her and her organization have been manipulating our entire life since we got shipped off to the colonies, and she didn't even fess up to any of it. That's literally compromising the trust shown to her causing her to be seen as an enemy by Arthur.
>>4175717Alright, we voted to continue being a weak link who relies on our allies to get the job done. Lamentable.
>>4175739>Not really since you haven't debunked any of the reasons I put forth to sink the ship, just called it mental gymnastics when everything I said has plenty of IC reasoning.Dude, you've had two threads at least of people debunking your reasoning, you just keep claiming it's not good enough. At this point it's serious mental gymnastics. >Compromised trust is huge, especially when you're the only friend the guy has ever made. There wasn't really compromised trust there. She told and did everything she could for us. >How is this blowing her off? It's reaffirming trust in her and her motives. We later find out her and her organization have been manipulating our entire life since we got shipped off to the colonies, and she didn't even fess up to any of it. That's literally compromising the trust shown to her causing her to be seen as an enemy by Arthur.Because she was literally going to spill her shit to Arthur and Arthur just went "That's nice." and then people like you continue to use the reasoning that she lied to us and compromised our trust. Also, the manipulating our life thing is literally on the organization's head, not hers. Also, am I remembering wrong or was it Anna who told us about that? They probably have their own reasons to manipulate us too, you know. >He went into the cabin because it looked like the thing that was on the wall entered the room and he wanted to talk to it without Sophia's abrasive negotiation tactics. He didn't think it was Grigori at ANY point.Rereading it, you're right. Let me rephrase that then. >Let's walk alone into the cabin following a complete and utter unknown and send our powerful friend off without us. It's still just as stupid. >She'll even let her chosen ones fuck off if they feel like it, so long as you put up enough of a fight. You can fuck off as long as you're furthering Chaos' goals in the end.
>>4175745Honestly I don't get how people are convincing themselves "If we know them better we fight better as a cohesive unit". Practice makes people work together better. Knowing someone's life story doesn't suddenly mean you could fight back to back with them twice as well as before. But it seems like people just don't want to take the time out to git gud.
>>4175761>no compromised trust.>let a meat golem almost assassinate us>almost fail to gut a demon>struggle throughout the mansion>plant lady tells us she's hiding her true power>still struggling against a golem even with backup>didn't immediately incapacitate the head alchemist the entire time they were fighting>she later levels the mansion after we were told the people she works for are the "good guys" who go on crusades against evil, and are behind us being ignorant of ourselves.>Also, the manipulating our life thing is literally on the organization's head, not hers.>"I've been in this organization since I was born."It's her responsibility too. She had YEARS to spill, but nope.>Also, am I remembering wrong or was it Anna who told us about that? They probably have their own reasons to manipulate us too, you know.Alura forced Anna to tell her., and Alura told us. Reasons to manipulate us? Sure, they were completely upfront about it too: they want us to be the Dark Lord so everyone here can survive the people who completely fucked all their lives up.You can call it manipulation, but then we're splitting hairs about how much persuasion leans into manipulation, and how allying yourself with people and agreeing to anything is letting yourself get manipulated by them since they're relying on you, so it's gotta stop somewhere.>It's still just as stupid. So, what, now Arthur can't act like a Dark Lord and handle situations on his own? If she went to the mansion alone and knew the bad guys were there I guarantee you she would have just given the place the MOAB treatment. But no instead Arthur insisted to come along and get half the people still in there to stick around, too. It's literally your fucking fault for voting the way you did that you are complaining about these things.
>>4175793>>ListNone of that compromises trust. Chaos wins in the end.Unless it gets stabbed in the eye with a spear.
>>4175816>He is literally a fragile princess and until we git gud, he should have one of him allies with him at all times. Is that why you voted against training to become a better fighter? You want to keep being a fragile princess?

>>4175850>Must I re-iterate that this is exactly how the situation would look from Arthur's pov?No it wouldn't you fucking mong. If your argument doesn't explicitly shoot down anything I forward I'll just roast it.When I can call you a fucking retard and get the same or better response then actually giving you reasons, you're the problem. >Now I don't think I've claimed this in this thread.Plenty of threads to go back through that had people telling you that your idea was fucking stupid. >It's a learning experience. He didn't think the danger was that great. He thought it was a wall sprite or something. You don't need to expect everything to be an enemy, you just need to bring back up in case it is. >iirc alucard just said soma would end up getting possessed by dracula and that he should defeat chaos in the chaotic realm to stop that from happening.Soma had to become the dark lord, the representative of chaos to enter the chaos realm. He had to stab it, so it would stop trying to make him dracula. There is no walking away from it. Hell, Dracula himself tried and was eventually pushed right back in. >What? You REALLY need to start actually reading what I post anon, it might help you in the future.I do read what you post, the inherent stupidity makes it hard to decipher.
>>4175981>don't respond to me seriously, because you're not arguing properly.I don't think I've gone ahead and insulted people or their intelligence during my pursuit to push my idea forth. Everything I've said has had a logical basis behind it that keeps it steady. I've yet to see much of the same from you however.>all those people telling me the idea I stole was stupid*sigh* Shouldn't that be evidence of my retardery rather than the opposite? And those people were horrible at attacking the idea, hell you people are still shit at attacking it.>bring backupGreat, so he learned something. Doesn't mean he doesn't think his actions through.>there is no walking away from being the dark lord.>Soma walked away from it.Just cus it tried to make him Dark Lord again doesn't cheapen this.>Hell, Dracula himself tried and was eventually pushed right back in.When did that happen?>I do read what you post, the inherent stupidity makes it hard to decipher. Is what I'm saying that hard to understand? Am I writing in English?
>>4176011>Everything I've said has had a logical basis behind it that keeps it steady.See. The exact same shit as trying to give you actual reasons. Also, I have yet to see this. >Shouldn't that be evidence of my retardery rather than the opposite? And those people were horrible at attacking the idea, hell you people are still shit at attacking it.No. Also, no use attacking the idea when you claim any reason to the opposite isn't good enough. >Doesn't mean he doesn't think his actions through. He didn't think his actions through. >Just cus it tried to make him Dark Lord again doesn't cheapen this.Okay, again. Soma had to GO TO THE CHAOS REALM AND KILL THE MANIFESTATION OF CHAOS TO WALK AWAY. He literally had to kill anti-god just to get it to kind of, but not really leave him alone. What aren't you understanding? >When did that happen?Lisa. >Is what I'm saying that hard to understand? Am I writing in English?ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT!?
Oh my god, will you two just shut up and resolve your grievances by voting when the time comes? You have irreconcilable goals and views on the quest's past, present, and future! No amount of argument is going to resolve this!
>>4176045How dare you come into this thread and suggest something reasonable.
>>4176025>all this wallingWhat a nice conversation partner you are. Able to make concessions to come to reasonable conclusions!>He literally had to kill anti-god just to get it to kind of, but not really leave him alone. What aren't you understanding? That's literally the only explanation for that encounter.>Lisa.Give charity to the retard and explain.>do I?Do you?>>4176045>resolve grievanceswell he started it. all you gotta do is make sense. its the bare minimum.
>>4176057>What a nice conversation partner you are. It let Soma win. That's literally the only explanation for that encounter. If it let Soma win, then Soma didn't walk away from it. He's just playing into Chaos' shit. >Give charity to the retard and explain.Lisa was Alucard's mom. Dracula met her and kind of mellowed out and was regaining his humanity and shit. Then they called her a witch and burned her at the stake, causing the whole "Kill Humanity" shit. >Do you?DO YOU?
>>4176057>Give charity to the retard and explain.>one of the two instances of dracula having a proper character arc>doesn't know it
>>4176092>I'm glad you understand how the entire thread has felt these past few threads concerning you and the boat thing.Make an actual argument that addresses all my points and completely refutes them utterly. That's all anyone has had to do.Not one person has done this.So it's stayed.>chaos always has an ulterior motive, even when it makes absolutely no senseOk dude, you hate Chaos I get it.>>4176098Hold up, it was Chaos' fault Lisa got killed? How do you know he went to chaos and tried to stop being the Dark Lord but got shot down so hard it manipulated his wife into getting killed? Why would he hate humanity and continue being the representative of the being that orchestrated his love's death? I know I call Dracula a retard but as an alchemist he's actually very intelligent, I doubt he'd overlook such a possibility in his rage for justice.
>>4176111>Make an actual argument that addresses all my points and completely refutes them utterly.>That's all anyone has had to do.>Not one person has done this.>So it's stayed.Yes, we have tried this. Multiple times over multiple threads. Your response is "It's not good enough." >Ok dude, you hate Chaos I get it.I like Chaos, she's adorable. I also recognize though, that the thing is anti-god and manipulating us into doing what it wants. As long as we remember that, it's fine. >Hold up, it was Chaos' fault Lisa got killed? How do you know he went to chaos and tried to stop being the Dark Lord but got shot down so hard it manipulated his wife into getting killed? Why would he hate humanity and continue being the representative of the being that orchestrated his love's death? I know I call Dracula a retard but as an alchemist he's actually very intelligent, I doubt he'd overlook such a possibility in his rage for justice.I don't think it was directly, however he was started to slip away from being the representative of chaos and then circumstances happened that just happened to cause him to redouble his efforts toward chaos' goal. Though this also starts to enter fan theory territory.
>>4176135>Yes, we have tried this. Multiple times over multiple threads. Your response is "It's not good enough."Because it isn't you haven't even posted anything supporting the alternative method as superior besides being able to land safely. Which my plan covers decently enough.>even though chaos has said she doesn't like doormats, and in an alternate universe let her best bet at becoming Dark Lord walk away from the position because he passed your test, it's always manipulating everything to its own ends.Everyone wants what they desire to come to fruition, but Chaos is a firm free will believer. That she was created as a side-effect of a universe where free will is important is huge. God didn't like it so it locked it away, then several billion years later he made the exact same mistake again. He's just a dumbass who doesn't know what he wants.>Chaos might've manipulated him into being the dark lord.Nah imma have to have heavy doubt to straight up denial here. If Chaos was really behind the events Dracula would've orchestrated vengeance instead of focusing his ire on god and humanity. The dude is insanely smart and has a long time to himself to think these things through.
>>4176185>Because it isn't you haven't even posted anything supporting the alternative method as superior besides being able to land safely. Which my plan covers decently enough.>All this walling. >Everyone wants what they desire to come to fruition, but Chaos is a firm free will believer. That she was created as a side-effect of a universe where free will is important is huge. God didn't like it so it locked it away, then several billion years later he made the exact same mistake again. He's just a dumbass who doesn't know what he wants. You're making alot of assumptions about the anti-god, man. >>Chaos might've manipulated him into being the dark lord.Chaos never manipulated him into being the Dark Lord. He chose that himself when he used the stones, took what's his face soul and became The Dracula. Chaos may have nudged things to push him back though, when he was slipping away.
>>4176195>All this walling. That ain't walling. That's an invitation to prove me wrong. That you didn't is super telling.>assumptionsNah, I'm just re-iterating what's already been said by QM and in quest.>Chaos may have nudged things to push him back though, when he was slipping away.Yeah, this is what I meant. It's just not possible. Dracula absolutely would've tried to completely obliterate Chaos if this was the case. He even has an intimate connection with the entity, giving him an easy way to destroy it.I'm sure the master alchemist with centuries of experience could've come up with something to defeat it.Absolutely positive. There's no way Chaos was involved in the events that killed Lisa. Maybe tangentially by Dracula being the Dark Lord, but that's all.
>>4176185It's almost as if that Chaos thing was a half-baked idea that needed a lot more fucking time on the drawing board before it was hamfisted into the series. You can't use it to explain things retroactively because the prior games didn't need a macguffin like that. Aria didn't even need it. Why did we need there to be some weird quasi-omnipotent force to explain Dracula's powers? Or why Soma was turning into an edgelord? If you replaced Chaos with Dracula's soul in Aria the story wouldn't change at all and it would make more sense.>"How does the castle work? Dracula's soul is in it like a giant phylactery.">"Why is Soma turning into a fuckboi? Dracula's soul is literally changing him mentally and physically to suit the Dark Lord.">"Why can Soma command these monster souls after he slaps the shit out of them? They recognize Dracula's soul as he murders them and they rightfully go back to serving it."Chaos is a total letdown in canon.
>>4176204>That ain't walling. That's an invitation to prove me wrong.>That you didn't is super telling. And I'm saying we have for two threads, all you do is claim we haven't and wall. This is why I said I get the same response by calling you retarded. >Nah, I'm just re-iterating what's already been said by QM and in quest. The QM and Chaos may be lying. Remember, you don't have to assume everything is an enemy, but bring back up in case it is. >StuffEven if it wasn't directly involved, it still furthered Chaos' goals.
>>4176232>but we have.I don't really feel like going over the archives but this is wrong. The only posts I remember addressing this said that docking would be more distracting than sinking (???????) and that nobody on Arthur's team knows how to drive a boat properly so he should just sail in safely. Just steal the navigator I said. *Crickets*This whole post is covered in tinfoil. It's too shiny anon, hold back a little.
Thankfully, it seemed that you were correct in the assumption that the problems that kept arising on the ship had been resolved, after a frankly uncomfortable meeting between your entire group and some rather tense introductions everyone decided it would be better if they went their own ways and returned to their rooms to recuperate from the days events, Sophia with her new pet was more reluctant to leave, but eventually agreed to cut her solitary tea party short. You thought that the door would burst when Fenrir tried to force his way through it, but Sophia was quick to intervene, tracing a complex pattern on the wolf monster's forehead with a sort of black ink allowing it to sort of simply phase through the parts of the wall it would otherwise smash. After that though, the night was simply quiet. There were no bumps in the night and no screams of primal terror echoing through the halls. Eventually, you were left alone in your cabin with only Alura and Effi remaining. Though you would've liked to have conversed more with your allies, you were struck by a terrible wave of exhaustion. When the excitement of the day had finally died down, it seems the adrenaline you had effectively been running off of for the entire day died down with it. It was all you could do to bid Alura a good night and to inform Effi to make herself at home before hurrying to bed. You wonder momentarily where Holly had disappeared off to, considering she apparently wasn't staying with Sophia anymore. However, before you could ask exhaustion caused you to drop the question in favour of sleep. Unfortunately, your dream consisted merely of falling through an eternal void of darkness, with no potential to reach Dracula or Chaos presented to you in the dream world, you simply relaxed and let time pass you by. Eventually, you drifted off from the world within your dream and the rest of your time spent sleeping passed by as it normally would.Somewhere in the Atlantic OceanOctober 13th - Sunday 10:35AMYou had woken quite a bit later than you usually would. It speaks volumes of the sheer exhaustion you suffered from. So much had occured in just a single day that it was something of a struggle to recall all of it. You get up from bed half clothed in a pair of long johns before immediately realizing that you aren't quite alone in the room. Lounging on a large flower in the corner of the room is Alura, watching you silently. There's an awkward exchange of stares as you silently stare back at her. "So... how long have you been there watching me sleep, Alura?" It's quite the violation of privacy, but at this point you aren't really bothered anymore. Alura has healed you once before and has likely seen you at least as unclothed as you currently are, so there's no real harm... you think?
"A little under thirteen hours. You are quite the restless sleeper, you know. I could make you some powerful anesthetic to keep you from thrashing about so much, if you like." You can't really fault her for looking over you though. Last time you slept you did end up vanishing for multiple days.Even so, the whole situation could quickly become embarrassing "It's not that I don't appreciate your... service as a guard, but would you mind giving me some privacy for a moment? I do need to change back into my clothing." With a quick shrug, the petals around Alura curl up around her and she disappears within the large plant she's lounging on. Hopefully she's actually giving you privacy and not simply looking upon you while you can't determine if she is or not. In the end though, you shrug it off and change back into the suit that Alura created for you. As you finally finish getting dressed. "I'm going to go check on Effi and Holly, you're more than welcome to come with me, Alura." There's no response save for a light breathing within the mass of plant she buried herself in. Could she be... asleep? You aren't even sure if she really needs to sleep, but you don't feel like risking waking her just to ask a question if she truly has gone to sleep. Instead, you simply leave your bedroom and look for the other people that ought to be sleeping in this cabinAs you walk out of your room, you immediately spot Effi, curled up on one of the sofas, wrapped in all sorts of different blankets that she apparently spent time collecting from all around the room. The sofa she's sleeping on looks more like a sort of cushion and blanket nest than it does an actual bed.Upon your entering the room, the sleeping Doppelganger almost immediately stirs from her slumber. If you had to guess, you would say that she almost sensed your entering the room. Well, or she was simply pretending to be asleep. She does rise from her slumber with an ease you wouldn't have expected from a girl so young. "H-hello, Mr. Arthur.... I mean... Lord Arthur!" The girl immediately botches her greeting, isn't she supposed to be a master at this? It seems more and more likely that her deception skills are bolstered somehow when she actually transforms, because as she currently is, she wouldn't have much luck tricking even a child. Though you don't really care about the title anyway. While Sophia might insist, you aren't about to demand your subordinates refer to you only by a formal title, especially not one so young as Effi."It's fine, Effi. I don't really mind whether you use that title or not. So feel free to use whatever is more natural to you." You aren't about to scold a child for making a mistake. Even one so potentially deadly as Effi is.
"Huh? Really? Why? Aren't you going to demand the worship and praise of your followers while making them kneel before you?" The girl's question is innocent, but you have absolutely no idea where she seems to have gotten these ideas about you from."Of course not! I'm not about to let this power inflate my ego like that!" You deny Effi's question quite vividly, and in the process of your rebuttal, she flinches and shrinks back, looking almost afraid of you. You cease your protests at her idea the moment you see her react in such a manner though. "My apologies, Effi. It wasn't my intent to scare you like that, how about we go and get some breakfast? Consider it as an apology for going over the top." As you mention breakfast, you feel some stirring in your inner pocket, though Mistral doesn't actually come out. "First though..." You poke your head into the empty room in a bid to find Holly. Seems she hasn't simply decided to sleep the day away either. You find yourself hoping that Sophia hasn't reneged on your agreement and taken her to be put through more of her training, but you quickly discount the possibility. Sophia doesn't seem like somebody who would break her word so easily like that. You conclude it's likely that she simply needs to feed, and such a thing might be simpler were you not around for it."Breakfast? Like... actual human food?" Effi seems almost as enthralled by the opportunity to eat then Mistral did. "I've only ever really eaten what I could find in the woodland. At best I could burn it on the fire to cook it, I tried to stay away from the places human lived."Well, Effi seems to be all for the idea, and it seems like Alura and Holly are busy and off doing their own things, respectively, so it looks as if you'll be visiting a café of some sort alone with your newest ally. You suppose you'll have to order for both of you, in the end you decide on>Ordering something light, two bowls of cereal should do.>Ordering something a little heavier, breakfast waffles for the both of you.>Ordering something very heavy and going for a full English breakfast for the both of you.>Forgoing ordering any sort of traditional breakfast entirely, and simply seeking out a cake shop or some other store dealing in confectionery.>Write-in...
I was supposed to make this an Interlude without choices, but it ended up getting fairly long and there wasn't a conclusion in sight.I also don't like taking player agency away from you guys too much. So instead I've decided to structure the updates like this, where there will be a secondary vote determining the outcome of the choices made in the prior vote.
>>4176248Dude, I remember posts telling you that there are logistic problems, problems with Alura actually making a workable boat, posts telling you that if we sink the boat the evidence won't be destroyed and can be recovered, that if we destroy the boat it won't prevent them from tracking us. (Which was proven right.), and other stuff I can't remember. Your response, every time, is "That isn't good enough." But then, no matter how much I try to explain, you'll just claim it's not good enough and continue to wall and since we're not actually talking about anything Castlevania anymore, have fun with that. >>4176262>>Ordering something a little heavier, breakfast waffles for the both of you.>>Write-in...Plus cake.

>>4176387Corpses float. Therefore when you try to sink the boat the dead bodies will provide enough lift to float the boat. Thus we can conclude that sinking the ship is just a really convoluted plan to get a ghost ship. And as we all know ghost ships aren't cool unless populated by skeleton pirates. From this we can conclude that you want a really lame haunted cruise when it isn't even in season for Halloween decorations.Shit taste.
>>4176408What if we attach a magnet to the front of the boat before we sink it, that way it's attracted to the metal under the ground and will get pulled against the corpse lift?

Damn it, these 'Interludes' are turning into full blown story segments.I feel like I should apologize for my inability to write in a concise fashion...
"Very well. It looks like it'll just be us two getting breakfast then, Effi." Mistral makes her move finally, zipping out of your pocket and flitting about sporadically. You should've known that a mention of food might get this lazy glutton of a fairy moving around. So, matters of life and death aren't good enough for her to wake up for, but the mention of breakfast has her positively flitting about in excitement? If she weren't so useful despite her general absence in combat, you would really have no reason to keep her around."If you're eating, then it's only right that you provide for your poor energy starved familiar as well." Mistral hovers close to your face, in some sort of attempt to convince you of her apparent plight. Though in reality, it just seems like she's begging for food again. Despite it not what she intended, you do note that Mistral would likely be much more useful to you if you could figure out a way to bring her reserve of energy up. It's likely in part due to her just want to be able to sleep as much as she wants but were she at her true strength, you might even be able to demand she change the weather at will. An interesting notion, but not one that you consider all too crucial right now. Getting Mistral back to full power can wait, it's not likely to be something you could simply achieve immediately, and if there were such a solution you could work towards that Mistral was aware of, she would likely have already mentioned it to you. Unless Sophia has some idea as to getting her more energy for Mistral through this completely unknown contract, it would seem as if you were on your own. As for her request to join in on breakfast... "Very well, Mistral. You can join Effi and I while we have breakfast." You were hoping to be able to use this opportunity to get a more stable relationship with Effi, at least only Mistral's presence won't distract from that goal too much. The wind spirit is thankfully so smallthat she likely won't get in the way. Besides, she's likely to just be too distracted by eating to bother speaking to you or Effi. There is just a single thing you'll need to sort out first though. Effi's appearance is quite the inhuman one, and while Sophia's spell might keep the occupants of the ship from being startled at her appearance, being captured on some video camera by accident could end up causing quite the incident were they to notice Effi's glowing yellow eyes. Well, that and even the Power of Destruction cannot defend you against the judgmental gazes of others, who would likely question you on your relation to the child, even if they were unable to discern her true features "While I have no issue with your current form, it might end up making a scene among the more... mundane humans. Regardless, you're going to need some actual clothes your size, and Alura is asleep right now."
"Pah!" The small Doppelganger makes a noise of disapproval. "I don't see why you should care so much about what those other humans think. If you're really going to be this Dark Lord, then won't you have to trample over them anyway?" Her question is spoken innocently, yet there's a vicious undertone to it.""Perhaps in time, I might. But as we are now, my enemies are plentiful and apparently more powerful than I could hope to defeat right now. The same people who put a permanent end to the previous Lord of Darkness will likely stop at nothing to prevent the rise of another, and as it stands, though the allies I have managed to put together are powerful in their own right, I can only imagine they completely pale in comparison to the might of Dracula's own forces." It's true. The last thing you want is to encounter these Dorin's. You had a taste of the power just a single one of them actually held when Shirley completely destroyed the alchemist's mansion, no longer holding back for fear of hurting you or losing control."So... these people behind getting rid of The Dark Lord... those are the one's responsible for my entire race being all but wiped out? The ones responsible for emboldening groups of hunters across the globe to actively seek us out and execute us without even giving anyone a chance to speak in their own defense? The... The-!" The girl balls her hands into fists tightly as her words fail her, so enraptured by emotion that she can't even speak. Though her plight seemed to have more been the result of a single human's actions, it seems that there are more than a few reasons for her to hate your race as a whole. But how could she have learned of the fate of the rest of her race, raising herself in isolation, away from all potential avenues this information could reach her by, as she apparently has?"I'm sorry about what happened to you, and about what has been done to your people. It's probably not worth much though, given just how your people have been driven to the brink by the apparent forces of good." Apparent indeed. What sort of people could actively embrace genocide while still claiming the moral high ground? Does it make it fine if those that they kill aren't human? They might speak and have the same level of intelligence as a human, but as they are 'monsters', does it make such killing morally just? As far as you can see, there's nothing particularly evil about Effi or her race. Her loathing of humanity seems to have stemmed only from her personal experiences.
"Don't apologize, Mister Arthur. You weren't the one behind dragging the doppelgängers close to oblivion... I don't really want to talk about this anymore. It hurts thinking that I might truly be the last of us. All I truly know of my race is what my mother told me in the few hours I had to know her. Telling me things that I would later find too painful to want to remember." The girl chokes up, and once again you find yourself with your hand on the top of her head. Though this time it's an attempt to comfort the girl. After a moment of silence, she finally recovers, and weakly removes your hand before looking up at you. "Maybe you're right... about the whole problem about looking the way I do... if I can't assume my true form though..." She stares at you for a long while, conducting a thorough inspection on your facial features for some reason. You're just about to ask her what she's doing until her hair suddenly shifts in colour, taking on a black identical to your own. Her eyes also change, becoming the same blue you have. The process is near instant as the colours change. However, she continues changing, her facial structure rearranging itself and causing her to look like an entirely different person, but you can't help shake the feeling that her face is familiar to you now. You hadn't noticed, being too focused on her face, but once again, she's wearing a new outfit. A basic white blouse and black pants, with some flat shoes. You somehow forgot she was capable of faking her outfit. It's really a testament to her skill as a shapeshifter."There. Now you can just say that we're related!" You suppose that it's a solution to the potential problem of being stopped. She easily looks like she could be one of your siblings too! Did she model her own appearance off of you then? "Are we going now then?" Despite her previous emotional outburst, she now seems focused on food once again. For a moment you're at a loss for how to respond. Looking dumbfoundedly at the now transformed shapeshifter as you think how best to respond to this turn of events. "I... I suppose that will work." You aren't about to actually refer to Effi as your relative though. You barely know the girl, after all. Though you suppose this is a development that might end up helping you in the future. "Come on then, let's go and find a cafe or a restaurant of some variety to go eat at." Effi nods once and follows you out of the cabin as you begin to make your way to one of the various places to eat aboard the ship.Later, after you had reached one of the restaurants aboard the ships, you were left up to ordering the food, just as you had expected you would be. Looking through the breakfast menu, you order three servings of the waffles on the menu. Mistral finally decides to leave her new home in your inner pocket to instead lounge around on the table. Of all the potential familiars and fairies that must exist, why did your one have to end up being so slothful?
You disregard the lazy sprite and instead make small talk with Effi, mostly by recounting the events of your journey so far to her and how you actually know the majority of your allies. She manages to remain fairly passive throughout your explanation, though a scowl was noticeable on her face when she was told of Shirley's membership in the Dorin Organization. Halfway through your story, the meal you had ordered arrives. After she had started eating with haste, her eyes widening at the flavour of the sweet breakfast, you had no choice but to call a temporary stop to the story, the story coming to a stop just before you woke to find that Shirley decided to burn down the mansion. The taste of the waffles is fairly good, the whipped cream and raspberry sauce they were served with complementing the flavor of the sweet dough of the waffles really quite well. Your two allies however seem to not care too much about critiquing the taste of the food. You disregard Mistral as she is simply attempting to eat as much as she can as quickly as she can, but Effi is actually trying to focus on figuring out how best to use her knife and fork to eat the meal, attempting to replicate your movement of the tools while clumsily ferrying the waffle into her mouth. The two of you eventually finish your meal, though Mistral rather impossibly has actually managed to eat all of hers. What's more, she managed to do it before you or Effi too! You have absolutely no idea what sort of mockery of nature occurred to allow this, seeing as you were too distracted watching Effi try to figure out how to use a knife and fork. You aren't really sure you want to see how Mistral accomplished it either, to be honest. You eventually pay a fair sum for the food and find yourself walking about a more commercial area, there's a surprising variety of shops aboard, now that you think about it. It's more like the interior of an upmarket mall than it is a ship in this area. "T-there are so many people around!" She clutches to your side, and you find yourself thankful for her choice of disguise. While Effi evidently hates humanity, she also seems to fear them, or at least large numbers of them. "Don't worry, Effi. I take the wellbeing of those I call my ally quite seriously. If anyone here would try to harm you, I would make sure they would regret it." There's an unexpected hint of malice in your voice as you say something you wouldn't have imagined saying even a week ago! In an attempt to scrub the thought from your mind and to further improve your relationship with Effi, you decide to visit...>An ice cream parlour.>A bakery specializing in desserts.>A traditional sweet shop.>Write-in...

After a brief moments consideration, you decide to visit an ice cream parlor that the two of you are just about to pass. Mistral, having eaten far too much, has once again fallen into a slumber in your pocket. You then find yourself wondering whether the terms of this invisible contract might allow you to actually get more use out of the fairy. Other than a few bursts of fear for her own life, she's really taking being your familiar too lightly.Well, it doesn't make that much difference anyway. "Effi, in here." Surprisingly, the shop itself is fairly empty aside from the staff. You try not to think about it too much, lest you give yourself a guilty conscience. Effi for her part doesn't look like she cares in the slightest about causing the deaths of so many. Well, it's not like you would expect her to care about in anyway, she does loathe the human race."Huh? Where are you taking us now?" She looks confused as she obediently follows along and walks up to the counter of the ice cream store with you. She looks upon the dozens of assorted flavors of ice cream as she ponders the meaning of the building. Seems that her limited knowledge of humanity doesn't extend to their favorite frozen treat. "It's ice cream, Effi. Would you like to pick a flavor for yourself, or should I pick for you again?" You would like for her to at least have the opportunity to choose, even if she's likely just going to leave things up to you. You don't even know if she can read, now that you think about it. "I'm sure they all taste good.""Oh? So this is called ice cream? Well, alright..." She looks at the flavors again, this time her eyes flicking to the labels on the desserts as she rapidly reads through them. Seems you didn't give her enough credit. She's clearly quite capable of reading this much. She doesn't really show much emotion as she flicks from one description to the next. The man behind the counter is clearly getting bored of waiting for the two of you, in response you simply shrug. It's not as if there are any other customers you're holding up. "Ok! I've decided! I'll have the wild berry flavor!" The flavor itself consists of berries that you'd likely find growing wild. She... she just went with what was most familiar with her, didn't she?. Well, at least she'll have something similar to compare the taste of the ice cream with? You do wish she was a little more adventurous though.
"Alright then, Effi." You look at the bored looking man behind the counter, the fake smile on his face is a poor disguise for the mans dead, bored eyes. Guess he isn't enjoying the cruise all too much. He should really count himself among the lucky ones considering what might have happened to him... and what yet might happen to him. Holly still needs to feed, and goodness knows that Alura has been getting up to in her spare time. "We'll take two cones please, a wild berry and a mint-chocolate." The man quickly fulfills the two orders, he likely just wants you to go so he can enjoy his far less busy than usual day. "Remember not to eat it too quickly, Effi." You give the girl a quick warning as you go to the door. You walk out of the shop with Effi following along as you make the trek back to your cabin, after feeling the chill of the ice and pacing herself, she's eating her ice cream happily. "You know, humans are pretty good for some things..." She stops eating the food and seems to regard her ice cream as if it were some great work of art of science, and not just a simple treat. Though you suppose that that's an improvement over wanting to kill all the humans entirely. "I ought to have thanked the worthless maggot who sold this to you." ...Ah. Nevermind then. You suppose you could at least attempt to make her hatred of your own race a bit less intense though. Right now, her hatred of humanity might end up being a burden down the line. "You know, Effi. You would likely be better off aiming the majority of your hatred for humanity towards those at the Dorin Organization. As I'm sure you've noticed by now, the vast majority of humans are just kept in the dark about the truth of the world."You really think so? Whenever I tried to speak to a human, they only ever ran away from me or tried to hurt me. I'm sure these stupid sheep wandering this ship would hate me too if they knew what I was..." She pauses, as she stares deeply into your eyes. The blue color shifts to the glowing yellow as she stares. "If you're going to be the Dark Lord in the future, you're the only person who I can trust to help me get revenge." She stops talking and makes a complicated expression as she looks as if she's struggling to decide whether she should continue talking. Eventually though, she does. "and... and also to help me look for any other Doppelgängers that might have survived humanity and their attempt to purge us." It's a heartfelt request, and not really one you have any reason not to grant. As long as her revenge is actually against the people behind what happened to her race and not humanity as a whole, that is. Obviously you can't agree to the total genocide of the entire human race. Such a thought is rather silly. Who would go after billions of unrelated targets in some sort of attempt at revenge anyway? It just seems gratuitous. "Of course. You're my ally now Effi, I'll help you achieve your goals as long as you in turn help me with my own.."
Effi seems to light up as you agree with her request, and in her joy, takes a large bite of ice cream, forgetting about the coldness of the food as she consumes a large glob of ice cream in one go. It takes seconds for her eyes to widen and for her to stumble backwards as she reaches for her forehead. Seems like even Doppelgängers aren't immune to brain freeze "P-poison? How could you have found th-""It's not poison, Effi. I wish you would trust me a little more. What you're experiencing right now is something called brain freeze. It's what happens if you eat too much ice cream too fast, don't worry. It passes quickly." As soon as you finish speaking, Effi removes her hand from her forehead, realizing that she is in fact perfectly fine."O-oh... I'm sorry for doubting you... Lord Arthur." She's a complete mess of emotions, the joy of her request being possibly granted combined with the shame of accusing you of poisoning her moments afterwards have combined into a chaotic roil of feelings that the poor Doppelgänger girl just doesn't seem to be able to get under wraps. Thankfully though you're close to your cabin, so you can avoid a long walk in silence. When you do get back to your cabin, Effi quickly slips past you before promptly disappearing. You're pretty sure she's hiding somewhere, but you have no hope of defeating a girl who can turn into anything she pleases in a game of hide and seek, and she clearly doesn't want to be found, as a cursory look about the cabin reveals nothing. Of course it also reveals that Holly is still not back and that Alura is still asleep. You find yourself with time to yourself, finally alone... well, mostly. You're pretty sure that Effi is probably watching you, but there's nothing you can do about that. You find yourself wondering just what you should do with your time. While you could go and visit one of your other allies, you would really just prefer to use the time to genuinely relax.Though a few minutes into your relaxation, a thought strikes you. This is the perfect time to attempt to get a greater handle on the Power of Destruction. Of course, you don't really want to experiment with it's actual physical capabilities in your own cabin. Especially with Effi hidden perfectly somewhere in the room. Instead, you try to focus on the Power itself, not on bringing it out to use it, but just closing your eyes and focusing on it. Everything goes quiet as you enter a sort of meditative state, but you keep your eyes perfectly closed.
Eventually, you feel something, almost a pulling sensation spread across your whole body as it feels as if you are violently yanked into the darkness. You open your eyes, half expecting the smug tones of that man made of shadows, or perhaps even Chaos herself to greet you. No such thing occurs. Instead you find yourself looking at a tremendously ominous black orb, easily your own height. Orbiting the orb about twice a minute is a far far smaller sphere. About the size of a marble, it acts almost as if is the moon orbiting the planet. You're certain that this must have something to do with the Power of Destruction, but you have no idea what you're actually supposed to do!>Reach out to the orb and attempt to pluck the white marble out of it's orbit.>Attempt to have the white marble make contact with the black orb.>Touch the black orb.>Attempt to draw on the Power of Destruction, just to see what happens.>Leave it alone, this doesn't seem wise to mess with.>Write-in...
>>4180190>Attempt to draw on the Power of Destruction, just to see what happens.
>>4180190>Attempt to have the white marble make contact with the black orb.I feel that pulling the white marble out of its orbit would either remove our power or remove our control over it, while touching the black orb would kill us. Bringing the two into contact should either improve our connection to the Power of Destruction or kill us. Leaving it alone will of course do nothing and waste our time, and as for drawing out the Power here I'm totally at a loss.
>>4180295I think the white orb is either a representation of our soul or one of the last seals on our power. We've been using the power of destruction successfully so far, so being closer to the origin of the power shouldn't effect the outcome that dramatically, and we'd observe the process as it affects these two orbs.Benchmark tests are very important in obtaining accurate information.
>>4180321Plausible. I was thinking along the same lines myself for the white orb, having it represent our soul or conscious will, although I felt that greater proximity might improve our ability to conduct the Power of Destruction with less strain on our body.
>>4180329Well the ability is tied to our soul. Us being directly observing the process shouldn't have any noticeable effect, since this happens in our soul every time we use it.And if the marble really is our soul, rubbing it on the sphere of pure destruction is really dumb. If the power works by being drawn away from the black orb into the white orb to allow us to form it, then if they make contact then that would be erasing our soul. That might be the true reason behind our fainting spells, our soul gets eroded the more we use it, and our body has to accommodate to the change in soul size.Alternatively the white orb could be a focus or filter that turns the pure destructive ability into something we can wield. Although I feel this is less likely since I think a sieve would cover the orb rather than orbit it.It being a remaining seal seems likely since we know Arthur's power was sealed away, and since this is the representation of our power, this is where any seals would be placed. In this instance manipulating the white orb is smart, since we'd finally have full reign over the power of destruction.
>>4180190>Attempt to draw on the Power of Destruction, just to see what happens.>Don't unleash it>If the White orb starts closing in towards the Black One or vice versa somehow, stop ASAP.I can somewhat guess what it represents, so might as well science.
>>4180190>Touch the black orb.Ima poke it.
If this black orb is the source of our power, if we touch it with our left hand, do you think we'll be able to bring the Power of Destruction out with both hands?
Not many votes for this, huh? It's quite an important vote, as you might have guessed.
>>4181265An important choice with a difficult-to-determine outcome almost always slows down voting. People will be unsure about what their vote does, and won't want to vote if they're not sure because the consequences could be serious. The result is that some people just don't vote.
What's the logic behind using the Power in the Power? What if we cause a feedback loop and erase ourselves?
>>4181351“What if” could be applied to any of the options, might as well not do anything. The idea is that using the PoD should let us see how this stuff reacts with one another
>>4181351It's the safest option out of all of them though, which is why we need to channel it but not straight up use it on something.
>>4181602Actually the safest option is to leave, but we wouldn't have discovered much about the power of destruction if we do that.
>>4180190>>Write-in...Lick the white orb.
You don't really want to interfere with the two orbs just yet, they are still both total unknowns to you really. While you could theorize just what the two represent, be this some matter related to the soul, or your connection to Chaos, it's very likely not something that you ought to just physically experiment with. If that white marble sized orb does represent your soul, then the consequences of snatching it away from it's correct position might be disastrous. That being said, you probably ought to do something here, but what? You doubt that interfering with the white orb would end well for you, and physically coming into contact with the huge orb of swirling darkness could be even worse! You're almost at a loss for what you should do, and for a moment you even consider simply leaving without interfering with the two orbs at all.But just as you are about to begin searching for a method to leave this strange vision, an idea strikes you. While this vision likely represents the Power of Destruction in some way, merely seeing the power in a dormant state wouldn't actually be able to give you much insight as to how it actually functions, would it? Not unlike a dormant volcano giving no real sign as to the power locked within, merely staring at your ability while it's in an inactive state is unlikely to grant you any understanding. So, you focus on your power once again, but this time you focus on drawing it out instead of on the actual power itself. But... you don't feel anything, you can't feel the familiar sensation of the power flowing from within you. Of course, the reason for that is quite clear, as just in front of you, the two orbs begin acting quite strangely. Black tendrils of ephemeral energy form on the surface of the orb, slowly reaching for the white orb as it continues it's orbit of the larger sphere.Quickly, one of the tendrils grabs hold of the tiny white marble, which seems to glow brightly, as if trying to defy the darkness attempting to stain it. Though as you continue focusing on drawing out the power, the defiant white light grows weaker and weaker, eventually dimming into a mere glow. You still don't understand the mechanics of what you're actually witnessing though. You do get the feeling it has something to do with your soul, you aren't entirely certain what is drawing you to such a conclusion though. But you don't actually feel like anything is going wrong with this, and curiosity beckons you to keep focusing on drawing out the Power of Destruction.
The dim light that was being emanated by the smaller white orb fades completely, now it instead seems to be just a simple spherical stone made of marble or some other rock. You decide now would likely be a good time to stop drawing the power out, and cease your focus on the power. However nothing changes, the black tendrils still have a hold on the white marble, and show no sign of letting it go. It turns out that you appear to have been able to activate the flow of energy from the Power of Destruction from within, but shutting it off seems to be another story entirely!Even more alarming than that is not only has the white begun to turn a sickly gray, but that the tendrils appear to be retracting, carrying the smaller orb with them! A terrible fear strikes you as you see the tendrils drawing the helplessly tiny orb into the dark swirling surface of the far larger sphere! The smaller orb attempts to pull itself free of the darkness, even as the brightness drains away from it, but you can tell that there isn't much time!>Attempt to pull the small orb loose of the grip of the dark tendrils of energy!>Allow the smaller orb to be drawn into the larger orb.>Attempt to attack the orb>Try to find a way to leave this place as quickly as possible! You'll have better control over the power from the outside!>Write-in...
>>4182215>>Allow the smaller orb to be drawn into the larger orb.
>>4182215>Attempt to attack the orbKnock it off, niggorb.
>>4182215>Allow the smaller orb to be drawn into the larger orb.
>>4182232>>4182251I swear you fucks are gonna have us wake up after turning the ship into swiss cheese. If we wake up.
>>4182265I mean, if that white ball was actually our soul, then why are we unaffected? How do we know this shouldn't happen?
>>4182265Because attacking the orb won't break its containment or disable it or shunt some of it off to some place in Iraq or something. Your genius is astounding. Thank you.
>>4182315Why didn't we feel the PoD working like it would if we were awake? We're in the mindscape. The white orb is probably the one we encountered when we had to choose to approach it or the darkness, of which we chose neither. I fear that in letting the white orb be consumed we'll become a slave to the darkness.>>4182320Did I tell you to vote with me?
>>4182215>Attempt to pull the small orb loose of the grip of the dark tendrils of energy! This is a frustrating choice. Allowing the white orb to be pulled into the darkness will, I fear, destroy our ability to control the Power; perhaps a full-body version of the experience we had being unable to control the Hand of Doom.On the other hand, I can't help feeling that to free the small orb from the tendrils will merely reset things to their initial state.Attacking the orb is almost sure to damage us in some horrendous way.Leaving the place seems non-productive at best, and at worst something that would remove all control over the situation.Ultimately I have to vote to pull the orb loose, but I don't really see any ideal path to improvement here. What we really need is someone who can teach us more about the Power. Muddling through on one's own is a path fraught with danger.
>>4182363I mean what effect would us wielding the PoD have in this space? We're probably a projection of our mind, rather than body. The PoD is likely in the semi-dormant state in our real body right now.And that light was grey, not white, and it stung our skin.
>>4182389>that light was grey, not white, and it stung our skinTo be fair, it's turning gray right at this moment.
>>4182432>white has a gradient to black>because it's gray right now, which is any color directly between white and black, that means it's the same light that was burning our skin when we made contact with it
>>4182215>>Attempt to pull the small orb loose of the grip of the dark tendrils of energy!
Isn't pulling the orb loose the "get sucked in too!" option?
>>4182501The way I see it, none of the options are particularly good; our panicking over the white orb being ensared might imply that we, at least subconsciously, know that's a bad thing.
>>4182363>Did I tell you to vote with me?No you were criticizing my vote and potential consequences of it. I was doing the same with extra snark.
>>4182515We didn't panic when the marble was ensnared, nor when it was dimmed. We started panicking when the marble was getting pulled into the orb, but we still don't know if that's normal behaviour or not.
>>4182529You're right, but we did start getting worried the moment we found we couldn't close the valve.
>>4182574We force the power back into our body when we stop using it.Since we never manifested it, we shouldn't get dizzy, and any phenomena we witness in here should be completely normal.I have doubts we control it via a valve like system in the first place. It seems more like a dam to me.
>>4182576>Since we never manifested itWe don't know what's going on in the outside world but, according to this part:>It turns out that you appear to have been able to activate the flow of energy from the Power of Destruction from within, but shutting it off seems to be another story entirely!it's active.
>>4182588It's active but it has 2 phases while so:1.) Inside our arm prepared for deployment.2.) Outside our arm and being manifested.Since we haven't shoved it out of our body, and only drew upon the power like we do during phase 1, it should just be hanging out waiting for phase 2 or to be dismissed.
>>4182215>Hit the Black Orb with the PoDIf you can't shut it off completely, use it against itself.
Here's my theory, right now, we're obviously watching our soul get molested by tentacles like it's in some low originality hentai. No idea what the big black ball is, maybe it's the PoD? Or maybe it's a part of Chaos getting all touchy feely with our soul. But I reckon that we currently exist only as our mind, with our body obviously still outside of this vision.Seeing as we usually interact with the PoD by mentally commanding it like how we turned it on, I'm thinking that we might need to physically act if we want to stop it, because right now physical is mental. This doesn't explain how it got started if we are only our own mind right now, but I haven't the foggiest for that one. Maybe the trigger is easier to start? You think if we ate the white marble as our mind we'd become one in soul and mind? I think we should try to eat the marble at some point.>>4182215>Attempt to pull the small orb loose of the grip of the dark tendrils of energy!Give that back, asshole.
>>4183100>I think we should try to eat the marble at some point.Anon, if you want to see what happens if you try eating the white marble, the write-in options is right there.
>>4183100>obviously watching our soulHow is this obvious exactly? This is the part of our soul that has had seals put down to stop us from using the PoD, or any chaos-aligned skill. As we're in our own soul, would we not be the representation of our soul? How else could Chaos nope us from these realms if we had no connection to our soul? If our soul were actually getting molested then we should feel something, but our fatigue level has stayed the same during this exhibit.>This doesn't explain how it got startedWhy continue with an insecure premise? What if this is completely natural behaviour for the PoD?We use it all the time, and using it is what broke our seals, so it's starting to seem more and more likely to me that's what the marble is.What's so bad about getting complete data before interfering?
>>4183303>How else could Chaos nope us from these realmsAnd on that note, I may have had an epiphany. We've used the PoD in these mindscapes before, to break the wall that sealed the connection to the chaotic realm. In that case us being able to use the PoD here should be completely normal, but something is interfering with that process... the marble.I am now almost 100% convinced the marble is a seal at this point.
>>4183314>it's a sealClose, but you made a typoThis is clearly Arthur's soul orbiting some colossal source of dark power.A seal would be more seal like and wouldn't immediately get btfo without any effort on our part.Letting the dark orb eat the small orb might give us the funky demon arm again.Or worse.
>>4183336>This is clearly Arthur's soul orbiting some colossal source of dark power. If this is the case, then where are we? If that is our soul then we can't be in our soul, in which case that shouldn't be the PoD. But the vote was to discover more about the PoD, so this should be related to it. We retreated inward but if that marble is our soul then we should be somewhere where our soul would look puny, but there's no evidence that's happened.>A seal would be more seal like and wouldn't immediately get btfo without any effort on our part. We've already blown most of the seals away though? How do you think they looked, where they would be, and how we broke them in the first place? If you're going to seal the power of the Dark Lord, where do you put the seals? On the power right? What I'm imagining is several of those marbles all orbiting the black orb, and acting like lightning rods whenever we try to use the Power of Destruction.
>>4182215>Attempt to pull the small orb loose of the grip of the dark tendrils of energy!Let's see what this does...
>>4183351If it were a seal, why would Arthur suddenly start panicking when it seems to be in danger? Why would there only be one left?Even if it were a seal, what do you think happens to Arthur when the Power of Destruction destroys it and is free to run rampant?
Rolled 1 (1d2)>>4183574Two options: something bad or something good.
>>4183574>If it were a seal, why would Arthur suddenly start panicking when it seems to be in danger?Because he doesn't know what he's doing? He doesn't even know his power was sealed, so how would the thought pop up in his head?>Why would there only be one left?Because all the others got ripped to shreds? The Dorin organization obviously implanted many things into Arthur besides seals, that map is evidence enough of that.>Even if it were a seal, what do you think happens to Arthur when the Power of Destruction destroys it and is free to run rampant? It will be as it was when he was born? Up until he was 9?
>>4183578The dice agree.>>4183580Up until we chose the Power of Destruction I think Arthur's power was yet to actually be developed.Just a formless mass of energy that had yet to take form.Or maybe you're suggesting he had all of the powers we got to pick from as an 8 year old?
>>4183589If it had the potential to be any of those 5 choices, then it should've been even more dangerous to "run rampant" than any distilled power. If his soul could handle it then, it should be able to handle it when it's matured by several years.
>>4183589>Up until we chose the Power of Destruction I think Arthur's power was yet to actually be developed. In the same argument one can propose that perhaps the vote to chose which power was just when his power was unsealed. And that it is treated as retroactively always being the power of destruction. Chargen votes are wild.
>>4183599Your overconfidence is your weakness. We could very well be watching our soul being eaten by our own power. For all we know, we could be getting time dilation'd again and we've done the equivalent of keeping the power active for hours.I don't trust time near Chaos.
>>4183608>overconfidenceIt's called observation and accumulation of evidence. If 0-9 year old Arthur's soul could handle the "strain" that an ability he was born with would put on him, then 20 year old Arthur's soul can handle it just fine.>We could very well be watching our soul being eaten by our own power. We could be watching hyper-realistic play doh balls absorb one another. I feel there's less evidence that this marble is our soul than there is it not being our soul.>I don't trust time near Chaos.Good thing we have an established precedent for not getting shunted into the chaotic realm, and thus no time travel, when we enter these type of mindspaces.
Whatever the hell is going on here, you aren't just going to stand back and let it happen! That white sphere is important to you, you don't quite know how, but you can feel it. Seeing it struggle in futility against the dark power attempting to claim it fills you with an unbearable feeling of dread. You don't know just what might happen should the dark sphere accomplish whatever it's trying to do to it's smaller counterpart, but you don't care all too much to find out. You race towards the smaller orb as it further loses it's light. You barely make it in time before it had been stained almost completely in it's entirety, by the time your fingers actually make contact with the previously pure white orb, it has been stained a deep gray. You try not to worry about just what the implications of what's going on might actually mean, for now, all you can focus on is freeing the smaller orb before it's lost forever.Your tightly grasp hold of the small orb with your right hand as you wrench the tendrils away with your left. You're forced to dodge away from tendrils as they seem to have decided on another target, letting go of the now almost pitch black orb as you are forced to slide out of the way of one of the tendrils as it whips towards you, in a desperate gambit to slip around your neck. You're faster though, and with the smaller sphere in your hand, you quickly dodge out of the range of the horrible black tendrils and watch as they fruitlessly try and reach for you, though they simply can't extend enough to touch you from such a distance. You breathe a sigh of relief as the black orb seems to rage in futility, desperately seeking a target, but it seems quite harmless to you now that you have possession of the smaller orb. Let it lash around uselessly as it wants, you can feel that the danger has passed now that you've interfered whatever it was attempting to accomplish. You look down at your hand, at the orb you now hold so tightly with a trembling hand, the blackness seems to fade away slowly as it grows in size, from what was the size of a marble, swelling up to the size of a tennis ball. Though it doesn't regain the white luster it had before, there's a slight taint of black causing the whole sphere to take a very light gray shade.
You look over at the black orb now, which has gone as still as a rock. The tendrils that it was so furiously lashing out with at you just moments ago vanished, as if they were never there in the first place. You release your grip on the smaller orb and watch as it flies free from your grasp, orbiting around you a few times before suddenly accelerating and flying straight at you! You don't have time to react as it slams into your chest at an incredible velocity, right at your heart! Though where it should have pierced your body, or at least heavily bruised you, it instead harmlessly phases through. A wave of understanding passes through you as it does, this small white orb it's... your soul... or at least, it's a part of your soul. It seems that it's responsible for keeping the primordial chaotic energy contained within the Power of Destruction under control. It's like a part of you, torn away from you in order to maintain your own use of the Power, within it are flashes of images, familiar faces yet unfamiliar at the same time show up one after the other. Scenes of conflict and battle from the perspective of one too young to comprehend it. You try your hardest to focus on the images, you need to know more! But then they simply fade from your mind, leaving you with nothing but the frustration of having a secret withheld from you.As it leaves you, you feel as if something has been torn away from you once again, but the sensation quickly fades. It has once again returned to it's shining white state and gone back to orbit around the orb that represents the Power of Destruction granted to you by Chaos. While you aren't sure what you really accomplished here other than learning something new about your power. But... those images, what could they have meant?
A clapping from behind you suddenly makes you turn around as the world around you seems to reconstruct itself, the two orbs growing infinitely far away from you as they are dragged off into the horizon. "Well well, are you satisfied with your little investigation? Or would you like to try to break some more of the seals I placed upon your own power to prevent you from destroying yourself?" The man of shadows has appeared before you, his voice annoyed. He's simply leaning on a white column in a room that looks like some strange sort of hallway. "It's been some time since we last spoke, hasn't it? I see you've also decided to investigate the rift within you." The man pauses, as if in deep thought. "What did you find within? Salvation? Despair? Hope? It doesn't matter in the end, all those are meaningless to that being you conversed with." The man stands up straight and turns away from you, looking out of the broken hallway into the vast empty horizons beyond. "It doesn't really matter, in the end, what you think you found. That being you saw, that being cares little about you, or anything of this world. It would spitefully destroy reality as we know it without a moment's thought, should half a chance be granted to it.""That being... you're talking about Chaos, aren't you? Aren't you Dracula? The previous Dark Lord? Why would you denounce your own benefactor like that!?""Benefactor!?" The man bellows in rage at the very notion. "Boy. Do I look like I am the beneficiary of any great boon for my... service to Chaos? For the dozens of times I was resurrected, only to once again meet my end at the hands of an agent of God's will?" The shadowy figure raises his arms and you get a good look at him, the silhouette of a very tall man, composed solely of wisps of shadow, looking as insubstantial as a simple plume of smoke. "As for Dracula, I am Dracula no longer, now I am but a wraith of a vampire who heralds the creation of his... successor."The wraith of Dracula pauses as it stares at you, obviously expecting a question of some variety.>"Then why me? Was I truly chosen to inherit this power because of coincidence?">"Then what about the other Dark Lord Candidates? Are you also seeking to make them Dracula's successor?">"What happened to Chaos? What left her in her current state?">"What happened to Dracula then? If he could be resurrected, what's stopping it this time?">Write-in...
>>4184642>"Then what about the other Dark Lord Candidates? Are you also seeking to make them Dracula's successor?"Let's try to stay focused on information with a concrete benefit.
>>4184642>"What happened to Dracula then? If he could be resurrected, what's stopping it this time?">"Then why me? Was I truly chosen to inherit this power because of coincidence?">"Then what about the other Dark Lord Candidates? Are you also seeking to make them Dracula's successor?">"What happened to Chaos? What left her in her current state?"I think these should all be asked.
>>4184642>"What happened to Dracula then? If he could be resurrected, what's stopping it this time?"
>>4184642Listing the questions from most relevant to least.>"Then what about the other Dark Lord Candidates? Are you also seeking to make them Dracula's successor?">"What happened to Dracula then? If he could be resurrected, what's stopping it this time?">"Then why me? Was I truly chosen to inherit this power because of coincidence?">"What happened to Chaos? What left her in her current state?"Sorry Chaos but your question comes last in the priority queue.
>>4184642>"What happened to Dracula then? If he could be resurrected, what's stopping it this time?">"Then what about the other Dark Lord Candidates? Are you also seeking to make them Dracula's successor?">"Then why me? Was I truly chosen to inherit this power because of coincidence?">"What happened to Chaos? What left her in her current state?"In this order, going from>What about Drac? Why not bring him back?>What about the other DLCs? Are you working for them too?>Why does it HAVE to be me who inherits this? Why am I chosen so?>What about Chaos, the reason I even have the power I do?
>>4185105Support.Dracula a shit.Maybe you wouldn't be a ghost if you did what you were told. Chaos is a good girl.Though I have no idea why he's here. I'd say maybe that this represents the Vampire part of Dracula and Soma represents the human part of Dracula/Matthias reborn through reincarnation. We should ask Dracula to teach us magic, he's basically the best magic user in the setting after all. I wonder how much he actually taught Alucard?
>>4185112>Maybe you wouldn't be a ghost if you did what you were told.
>>4185301>"waaah waaah! Chaos won't resurrect me again because I kept jobbing!"t. Dracula Wraith.
We should probably all get on the same page as to what we should do when Alucard shows up.Are we gonna talk or fight?Should we just try to run?I get the awful feeling he's going to be waiting for us wherever the ship docks.Do you think we could gank him with the Power of Destruction?
>>4185664I'd say talking that leads into a defensive fight to escape. Arthur should know more about the people fighting him besides that they want to fight him.
>>4185664>Do you think we could gank him with the Power of Destruction?>ganking one of the top three strongest people on the planetGo for it. I want to see how quickly our arm gets cut off.
So just to get this clear, that's all of the questions you want to ask?Starting with "What about Dracula", then going to "What about the other Dark Lord Candidates." Then asking about your own relation to it and finally Chaos' circumstances?Well, I guess if you want me to write all of the infodumps, I can't refuse you.
>>4185883Wait, we can ask even more? Can I add:>What's the best way to train a new vampire? To the bottom of the queue? Doubt it's going to get traction at this point, but just for posterity.
>>4185889Sure, do that. I thought of asking that but it doesn’t fit the current mood
>>4185889Oh yeah we definitely need to ask this too, though he's probably gonna agree with Sophia on having them go through a lot of pain. But the topic needs to move towards it more naturally imho.
>>4185889>Mr Ghost how do we train a vampire?>How the hell should I know? Dracula just taught his son some spells, not open a daycare for fledglings.
>>4185957Yeah, that's why I put it at the bottom, almost like an afterthought Arthur would ask after being overwhelmed by the infodump.
Staring at the shadowy wraith of a man before you, there's but one question that springs to your mind. "Then tell me, what happened to Dracula? If he could be resurrected, what's stopping it this time?" If somebody can be brought back from the dead, what need would they have for a replacement? How could they have been truly slain if death was merely an obstacle they could surpass? The wraith seems to... laugh? It's response is one filled with derision. "What's stopping it indeed? It's quite the exciting tale, the War of 1999, but I'll spare you the details. All you need to know of it is that during the War, Dracula was left... separated from a source of his power, and the humans had come up with an ingenious plot which they assumed would put a stop to his resurrections forever." Dracula's wraith puts a hand to his chin in though. "Though their plan would not have been nearly as successful in the end had Dracula still been in good favor with Chaos. You see, Arthur, they had theorized that by removing Dracula from reality by trapping him within a dimension that would be completely sealed right after his soul was trapped inside it, that he would be removed from his cycle of resurrection once and for all." The shadow seems to flash a smile at that. "So they managed it then? They trapped him inside this dimension and that was it for Dracula? That's clearly not what happened, considering that you're here." The tale has some major discrepancies after all, not least the one telling you the story obviously isn't trapped inside some separate dimension.
"Patience, young Bernhard. At the time of Dracula's death, when his soul attempted to retreat to the Chaotic Realm... it found the portal sealed. Both Alucard The Belmont of this generation had been quite thorough in their method. Not only did they shatter the Crimson Stone in their bloody duel to the death with Dracula, but before that fateful duel, Belmont used that thrice damned whip of his in order to seal off the Chaotic Realm from Dracula's Castle. There was no respite in the embrace of the Chaotic Realm for Dracula or his soul. Instead, in the moment of his death, Dracula's power split away from him. The power of a Dark Lord, given to newborns as a blessing to those who had been born in the exact moment of his death." Again he seems to have contradicted himself! "You might be wondering just how that power managed to escape when Dracula himself could not. Call it an oversight on the part of the humans. You see, they had no intention of sacrificing themselves in order to create a perfect seal, well, none except the Belmont, but I have come to expect such selflessness from that family. The rest of them however, did not wish to spend eternity trapped inside their own seal with me, with even their souls unable to escape, so in a bid for self preservation, they did not make it a truly perfect seal. They attuned the seal only to Dracula himself, and in doing so, parts of Dracula that could no longer be considered as such could easily escape while the window of opportunity was open. Before the seal was completed from the outside at least.""Window of opportunity? From the outside? What do you mean?" This seal business is getting rather convuluted. Though you suppose that in order to stop the Dark Lord from ressurecting, they had to go through a lot of steps."Well, it's quite simple. They knew that the seal they had put in place wasn't quite perfect, so prior to their battle they had enlisted the aid of a powerful group of priests from a Japanese shrine focused on seals. While the Church themselves handled most of what occured inside the Castle, they had the Priests of the Hakuba Shrine on hand to perform a ritual that would forever seal away and bind Dracula's dimension... But of course, even the best laid schemes of men are prone to oversight, which has led to us having this conversation. I escaped along with your power, as did some other fragments of Dracula's strength." "Those other fragments, where did they go? The other people qualified to be a Dark Lord? Are you also in their mind? Helping them?" You want to know where you stand with this strange apparation, could he merely be stringing you along while feeding your rivals for the role of Dark Lord the same information?
"Perish the thought! The other Dark Lord Candidates really aren't anything special. A fool with a twisted messiah complex, an imbecile with a lust for destruction, a deceptive snake driven by nothing but their own curiosity, a killer driven by a need to spread terror to their victims and finally, a trembling coward terrified by their own power." The shadow looks you over, as if examining you in great detail. "Unlike those five who inherited their power as the killing blow was dealt to Dracula at the same time as you, you have something they don't."What? What are you talking about? What makes me so different from the rest of them then?" Though interestingly enough, it seems that this wraith of Dracula is quite aware of your contemporaries, at least he seems to know of them. "But let's not spend time talking about those failures. The reason that I am drawn to you and am helping you is that you of the six candidates have the most potential of them all, your... heritage, made it quite easy for more of Dracula's power to have been drawn to you, you see. Had it not been for your blood, I would likely have never managed to find a host before the remnants of my spiritual form faded away or lost all reason.""My heritage?" "Of course! You might not know this, but that last name of yours held almost as much sway one thousand years ago as the name Dracula does today! You have your ancestor Walter Bernhard to thank for that. He's the second most powerful vampire to have ever lived, aside from Dracula himself, who simply used your ancestor Walter as naught but a stepping stone. Some of his vampiric blood still flows in your veins today. Far too diluted to grant you the power or the immortality of a vampire, but enough for a connection to have been made between you and I.""Hold on, my ancestors... were vampires?" It's a claim that comes as a shock to you, the implications of this are astonishing. Just how little you actually knew about your own family is spelled out to you crystal clear by the wraith. The shadow cackles "I'm sure some of them still are!" After a moment of wicked laughter he quickly regains his faculties. "But yes, that link to a powerful vampire of the past is why we are able to speak."Then there's just one more question you need to ask before you can start trying to form a clear image of all of this. "Then Chaos. What is she doing in that dream world of mine? What is that rift that I was pulled through?"
"Chaos... I had attempted to prevent you from meeting her, yet you forcibly broke through the barriers I had put in place. I was not expecting that you would enter her domain before I warned you of the danger it represents, the rift is exactly what it seems, a fracture in your own soul leading where she resides. But it's just as likely to erase you from existence as it is to bless you. Though that it came to you in the form of a woman and gifted you that sylph is quite promising. As for why she's here and what happened to her, I'm not entirely certain myself. It may have even been God himself finally making his move and sundering her into fragments. Or it may have been a result of Dracula's desperation upon his realization that Belmont had cut off his ability to be resurrected. Drawing as much of Chaos into himself as he could in a last ditch attempt to destroy his enemies, even through the seal put in place by Belmont's whip. But upon being slain, that Chaos was unable to return, the seal being designed to be one way only." He turns away. "Those are just what may have happened, I may know much, young Bernhard, but not even I am omniscient. Perhaps you ought to ask Chaos herself why she has been weakened? If you're lucky, she might not even take it as an insult." The shadow begins to walk away from you, it's clear that he has nothing else to say.But you still have one last question for the man before you can just let him walk away. "This... isn't really related to my being a candidate for the position of Dark Lord, but I figure that you'd be the best to ask." The shadowy man raises an eyebrow as you speak. "It's about Holly, I'm sure you're aware that she was recently turned, and I need to find a way to get her under control."
The shadow bursts out into laughter as you bring up your concern for Holly. "You wish to learn how to train your pet vampire? Very well, I can enlighten you on what might work for her. While pure vampires do have a primal urge to drink blood that they can never be rid of, the impulse to feed on living humans is one that they can in time learn to control. Of course, there's no easy way to do that. I might suggest isolating her for a few decades with no sustenance except a few drops of human blood a day, but I doubt you would be willing to spend so long. You wish for a more... immediate solution. Then I might recommend you have her be enchanted with a spell of pain that only takes effect when she has the inclination to feed on a human without you allowing it first, her body ought to adapt quickly to that. Just so long as the pain isn't so debilitating, otherwise she might end up falling victim to the one she had decided was her prey." He begins to walk away, fading away as his voice continues. "I never really had a problem with my own vampiric minions, they either obeyed me, or they suffered." Then there is silence, and the crumbling corridor you had been in mere moments ago turns into dust before vanishing entirely, as if carried away by a gust of wind. Before the wind takes you away too, spiriting you away into the void.
October 13th - Sunday 6:20PMYour eyes jolt open, and you find that you're laying on your bed, immediately you spot the worried faces of Alura, Effi and Holly peering at you. The second thing you notice is how tired you feel, almost as if you'd just run a marathon, and the third is that it feels like somebody has chucked a bucket of water over you, your clothing is dry, but your hair is soaked through. "Yuurgh." You open your mouth to speak, but only a grunt manages to vocalize itself. Alura is the first to speak after your failed attempt. "I wouldn't push yourself too hard, you were screaming quite loudly while you slept, and no matter how we tried to rouse you, it was fruitless. Though some of us might have gotten a little... carried away. While we attempted to wake you up."Holly has backed away from you, standing in a corner and trying to look innocent of some crime, a plastic bucket discarded in another corner of the room gives you a good enough idea of what she did during your meditation. "U-uhm... I just... read that it worked... somewhere." She seems to wilt like a dying flower as she tries to explain herself. You raise a hand to stop her, it's not like you actually felt it, and your hair being wet for a while is something you can live with anyway. You speak again, though this time find that your throat is raw and every word is an effort "Don't... worry about it, I don't mind. Though... I am worried about that... screaming." You force through the pain anyway, it's not really anything you can't deal with. "I think I... may have messed up.""Well, I'm just glad you stopped screaming after the first hour. Though you weren't any easier to wake even then. What happened?" Alura still looks at you with concern.>Tell them the truth of what happened when you attempted to figure out how to strengthen the Power of Destruction, or at least use it better.>Tell them instead of your meeting with the Wraith of Dracula, and of the revelations to which he gave you. (Which ones?)>Tell them that it was simply a bad dream you had after falling asleep attempting to figure out the Power of Destruction, a lie by omission, though it's quite the omission.>Lie and tell them you have no idea what happened.>Write-in...
>>4186417>Tell them instead of your meeting with the Wraith of Dracula, and of the revelations to which he gave you. (Which ones?)The way Dracula was defeated, the little descriptions of the other candidates and our heritage. Bring Anna and Sophia first, they’ll want to hear this.

>>4186528I was planning on leaving questions for later updates but whatever, ask about the Crimson Stone too. We know Sophia doesn’t know about it, or if she has heard of it she doesn’t know all it does but Anna might have some insight since alchemists really like stones apparently
>>4186543Well if we're gonna ask about that too, we should throw in the Philosophers stone we heard Johannes talk about.

Is the latter Soma?
>>4186417>>4186528Supporting this, time to inform our allies of what we know.Anna might have an idea on the Crimson Stone after hanging about with the Alchemists for so long and Sophia has to know who Alucard is.Is it time for a roadtrip to the Hakuba Shrine? Should we tell Chaos we know where the Castle is?>>4187056I think those other two are probably OCs. It wouldn't make sense for it to be Soma considering Soma is just a baby right now. I don't think our inner Dracula is aware of him either as Soma's soul escapes after the rest I think... considering he's like 17 in 2035.What if this wraith represents the vampire part of Dracula and Soma represents the human soul of Matthias reborn? It might explain what that wraith Juste beat up in Harmony was. An incomplete resurrection of Dracula. It implied it hadn't felt the power of a Belmont before iirc and needed to... posess a human host until the relics of Dracula were gathered....Fuck!
>>4186402Hey WhatIs, did you know that Mina Hakuba is a reference to Mina Harker from the original Dracula novel? It's in Japanese though, as evident.
>>4187139I am aware. If you want an even more blatant reference to the novel, here's Lucy Westenra. They didn't make any sort of clever reference here and just used her entire name. Mobile game writers got lazy I guess.
>>4187150They do like to reference the novel. The Morris family introduced in Bloodlines is another example. LeCarde, though, I'm not so sure about, and that's from the same game.Sort of makes it stick out that they've never featured a Van Helsing, when he was the most famous vampire hunter of all.
>>4187158It is very odd they never decided to directly reference Van Helsing. Perhaps they didn't want to do a disservice to his character by having him exist in a universe where he would be overshadowed by Belmonts?
>>4187150Why aren't we worried about her showing up?She's a greater danger to us than Alucard is.At least Alucard can't throw every main character at us by sunmoning them all. Also, that evil chick Hermione or something can summon her own Dark Lord Soma with her grimoire, so that's a disaster waiting to happen.
>>4187384>tfw you still have a flip phone and cannot into mobilevaniaI'll just assume that whatever either of them summon up are vastly weaker than their real counterparts. They probably start at level one or something anyway. But I don't know I'm just a dude with old-tech TM.
"I'll tell you exactly what happened, but first, I'd like you to bring Anna and Sophia in here as well, they ought to hear what I'm about to say." You turn your heard towards Holly, who seems to have recovered a bit from her earlier shame at having tried to wake you with a surprise shower. "Holly, I'm going to need you to head to Sophia's... room, and have her follow you back here, tell her it's urgent. If she says she's too busy or some other excuse, tell her it involves Dracula, and what happened in 1999. Try to be back as quickly as you can." "Oh... um. Ok then." She quickly hurries out of your bedroom, and out of the cabin. You would never have thought that there could be such a thing as timid vampire, but Holly completely defies the traditional image of the vampire... well, at least when blood isn't involved, then she shows all the ferocity one would expect from such powerful creatures of the night. Maybe she'll one day grow truly accustomed to life as a vampire, but right now, she acts just like one would expect of somebody being dragged kicking and screaming into a world of blood and darkness. She's obviously doing her best though, and you can't really ask much more of your allies than that."Alura, I'll also need you to get Anna from the room opposite. I would go myself, put I don't trust my legs not to give out on me should I attempt to make the short journey myself." It's true, the fatigue plaguing your body is too great for you to really consider moving about, you're probably going to need some more time to recover from whatever you did with the Power of Destruction before you're ready to start wandering about again."Oh? I could carry you there, if you would prefer." Alura lets out a haughty laugh at the comment before giving you a chance to respond. "Don't worry, It was simply a joke. I'm not actually going to start carrying you around again." She pauses and murmurs something quietly, but you don't catch it "I can see that you're far too exhausted for such an activity anyway, so I'll be just a moment."As Alura leaves the room, you find yourself alone with Effi once again, who has relocated herself to an armchair near your bed since you woke from your slumber. She locks eyes with you as you peer around the room "So... you're OK right, now? I was... scared, when you started screaming like you did. I don't think I could handle if somebody finally gave me hope and I had to watch it be snatched away from right before me eyes. I've... had enough of losing things." She says wistfully, no doubt recalling the death of her mother.
"I'm perfectly fine now, Effi. Just a little bit tired. I'm not about to die so easily that you need to worry about my wellbeing from something like a little bit of screaming. You can wipe that frown off your face right now." Truthfully, you don't really know what the cause of that screaming was, obviously it's got something to do with how you interacted with the Power of Destruction within you, but whatever could have caused your body to have started screaming while not being consciously inhabited by your own mind? Could it have been pain maybe? Or perhaps a primal fear?"Alright. But please... don't die, ok?" The small girl pleads with you to watch out for your own wellbeing. The girl is a far cry from the mocking shape-shifter you had first met only yesterday. It's hard to believe that she's the same person as she was when she took Grigori's form. Or indeed your own form."I wasn't actively planning on doing so, you have my word on that." Just as you finish promising to try not to die, the door swings open and Anna speeds through, followed by Coller and with Alura lazily sauntering in as she gently closes the door behind her.Anna is quite frantic as she looks you up and down "You're awake? You're not hurt are you? I heard the screaming from my cabin. I did come and see what the commotion was, of course, but upon finding you unable to wake, I had to eventually return to my own cabin... Alura insisted I look for some remedy that might've alleviated your situation. I'm glad to see you didn't need it though." She smiles as she finishes speaking, but also eyes Effi with wary eyes. Before you can properly greet the new arrivals, the just closed door suddenly burst opens, as a cloud of darkness makes it way into the room with incredible speed. You quickly realize that the whirlwind of shadow is actually hundreds of pitch black bats circling an axis at an incredible speed. Yet in a flash, the bats all condense and merge into a black substance, which near immediately takes the form of Sophia, strangely, she's still holding a bat in her hands, though it's a different color to the ones. "This is the part where you turn back, Holly." She realizes the bat which almost leaps from her hands before it too turns into a mass of black energy which quickly takes the form of a human girl. There's something off about Holly's transformation back into a humanoid form though, and Sophia puts a hand to her forehead at witnessing her current. "W-what's wrong?" Holly is obviously unaware of just what she's managed to do, even attempting to check her current condition in a mirror. She finds no reflection of herself in the mirror though, which she clearly didn't expect. "Why don't you try flapping your wings?" Sophia's suggestion is laced with sarcasm as she regards the vampire she turned with what seems to be a form of second-hand embarrassment.
"M-my what?" At Sophia's suggestion, Holly begins to flap the large black batlike wings still attached to her back, now scaled up to the size of a human, it's a wonder she doesn't accidentally knock any furniture over with the sheer size of the wings. "O-oh. Oh dear." She seems to focus for a moment before the wings retract into her back in a display that looks like it ought to be immensely painful, as the large limbs enter her through her back. She doesn't even flinch though. Obviously, it's some form of shapechanging magic inherent to vampires.Sophia still looks mostly unimpressed, there's a very tiny flicker of a smile on her face "While I ought to congratulate you on so quickly managing to perform a partial transformation, I'm less inclined to congratulate you on account of it being accidental, but I am glad to see you progressing so quickly, so I'll let it slip." Holly shudders as Sophia gives her both congratulations and a scolding at the same time. "But, we're getting distracted. What was it that was so urgent, Arthur?"Finally, you can start divulging the new information you've uncovered to your allies, with Anna and Sophia here, you'll likely be able to make much more use of the information. Especially considering that besides those two, you don't think any of your other allies were even born before 1999. Anna herself is only barely old enough to have been a toddler while it occurred, so most of her information about the war will be second hand regardless. You take a deep breath, thankfully you can talk without it causing pain now. "It's got to do with what happened to Dracula. During the war of 1999. There's some kind of... wraith inside of me. Claims to have come from Dracula himself along with my Power."Sophia is caught off guard. "A wraith you say? Are you saying that inside of your soul lies... Dracula himself?" You would hazard a guess that she would be far more shocked by the fact that Chaos herself has made herself at home within your soul, but that's something you just aren't comfortable divulging."He's not Dracula. Well, at least he isn't anymore. That's what he said at least. He's simply a wraith seeking his successor now, or something." Hopefully your allies will provide some insight on what you ought to do about all these revelations.Anna is the next to speak up, while Alura, Effi and Holly seem to just look as if they are going with the flow. "Interesting, so this... wraith, is supporting you? Even if it's only the remnants of the previous Dark Lord, it's quite the boon. You have access to the information held by the Dark Lord himself! Don't you understand how much this could change things?" You hadn't really considered it, and that wraith is far too cryptic usually anyway."That's not the important part. What is important is that he told me some information before we parted ways. Namely, the story of his defeat and subsequent sealing."
"A sealing? Really? That's how they ended up doing away with the Dark Lord once and for all? You would think that would've been one of the first things they attempted, but humans are as they are. Always so quick to assume death is the end." Sophia giggles as she comes to the conclusion that humanity simply never attempted to seal away Dracula before this point."I wouldn't be so sure, from what I was told, it sounds like the Belmont and this... Alucard put in a lot of effort in making sure they were successful. Dracula's Wraith even mentioned how they shattered something called the Crimson Stone...""The Crimson Stone?!""Alucard?!"Sophia and Anna both shout aloud in unison, though it seems they took something different from your revelation, Anna being surprised at the mention of the stone, while Sophia being more shocked at the name 'Alucard'. Interesting.Sophia raises a hand to her mouth and lightly clears her throat. "It's a surprise that you haven't heard of Alucard, but from what I can tell, the softhearted fool has a bad habit of falling into deep slumbers while he curses his own existence." Sophia insults the man. Seems she has no love for this Alucard figure... hold on... isn't Alucard just...Sophia continues "Alucard is Dracula's son. Born a dhampire from the result of Dracula making love to a human woman. Alucard has since been nothing but a thorn in his father's side. Siding with those pathetic humans over his own father. He helped the Belmonts centuries before I was born, and reappeared a few centuries later and slew his father himself... But not before he... he..." In a rare moment of weakness, Sophia seems to hesitate, as if she can't find the proper words.
Anna uses Sophia's pause as her opportunity to explain things from her perspective. "The Crimson Stone. I've heard of it before. I mean, how couldn't I have heard of it? It was all half of those damn alchemists could speak about most of the time. They couldn't stop whining about how they couldn't believe somebody had managed to make a perfect Philosopher's Stone, only to corrupt it with an unknown magic, twisting it from a stone originally meant to replicate the miracles of God to allow one to truly become immortal, and into something far less pleasant..." She stops talking, giving you time to think. A connection to Dracula, and an unknown magic that twisted something attempting to replicate the miracles of God into something else? This Crimson Stone could only have been created with Chaos in mind. A pity it has been lost. "Of course, Johannes and a few of the other alchemists managed to procure a few fragments of it somehow, but I think the opportunity to collect those fragments has passed. Unless you want to turn back and sift through the ashes of that mansion." It's not something that sounds appealing to you. In fact, finding a needle in a haystack sounds positively attractive compared to finding a fragment of a rock in the smoldering cinders of a huge mansion. The influx of yet more information is almost overwhelming, but there's a few more things you ought to tell them before letting them go back to their own business. "The wraith also mentioned a Japanese shrine or family... The Hakubas. He said they were crucial in sealing Dracula, but didn't elaborate all too much on how. We probably ought to pay them a visit some time in the future, to find out just what it is they know." Chaos did mention she was seeking Dracula's Castle, so if these people know how to unseal it, then you might just find yourself chosen as her new Dark Lord before you expect! "And... one more thing... It's why I started screaming I think. This was before the wraith appeared. I was experimenting with the Power of Destruction, and I think I managed to somehow... enter a sort of mental visualization of it while meditating on it. Though things didn't exactly go as planned while I was in there."Almost everyone around you looks interested in having you continue, even Holly looks as if she's anticipating your next words now. "I managed to somehow mess with the Power of Destruction, and in doing so I had memories I don't remember flood through me. That might've been the cause of the screaming. Either that or when I had to stop the Power from destroying what turned out to be a part of my soul."Holly seems terrified at the notion. "I-it can do that? Destroy somebodies soul? For real? T-that's a thing?" She barely manages to stutter out in fear of just how deep this world of magic is. You don't know what she was expecting honestly, she is now a vampire after all.
"Of course it's a 'thing'. Souls are as real as flesh and blood and can be destroyed just as the human body and mind can be. I'm sure one day even you will be able to replicate such a feat. It's really not that difficult." Sophia sounds somewhat exasperated with Holly by now, considering her question about souls to be one only a fool would have made, apparently."That's all... I think. Now excuse me, but I think I'm probably going to go back to sleep now, I've told you everything I found out, but now I need to sleep for real." Annoyingly, the fatigue still plagues your body, getting up now would likely only lead to you collapsing at some point in the next hour. There are murmours of disappointment among them as they leave but you can't really do much at all in your current state, so you'd be a poor entertainer of guests and a sorry excuse for a leader as you currently are. Almost immediately after you find yourself alone in the room, you allow your eyes to shut, and almost instantly drift off into a peaceful slumber. You are glad that there's no intrusion from a dream world or from that wraith into your sleep this time at least.October 14th - Monday 3:20AMYou jolt awake as the sound of something colliding with something else in the room just outside emanates through the cabin. What on Earth is going on? Alura is clearly asleep inside the flower she's set up inside your room, so you probably can't rely on her help right now, not if you want to find out what's happening in time.>Leave your bedroom and try to find the cause of that noise.>Go back to sleep, it was probably nothing.>Wake Alura up anyway. >>4189632>She is the best daughteru. Her pops would disagree.
Unfortunately, It seems I won't have the time to write an update today, so I'll have to leave you in suspense on this one for just a little longer.Apologies, anons.
>>4190563The riot has begun.
There's really no time to waste. Whatever that noise was you need to investigate it as quickly as you possibly can. When you're as surrounded by magic and monsters as you are, allowing things that go bump in the night to remain uninvestigated would be foolish at best and suicidal should this turn out to be something dangerous.Quietly, you make your way out of the room, thankfully, whatever Alura made your clothing out of seems to be completely resistant to any sort of degradation one would expect from wearing the same outfit for multiple days in a row, even going so far as to sometimes fall asleep while you're still wearing it multiple times now. You look over to the flower that Alura is hiding somewhere within and decide that waking her would likely not only take too long, but it's not something you think she would appreciate much, being woken on suspicion of something possibly occuring outside the room. Whatever it is, you can handle it yourself. There's no reason to wake her as well. Besides, it's probably nothing. Those illusions are dispelled almost immediately as you make them, as from outside the room there's another noise, the sound of something heavy and solid impacting the floor, the sound is somewhat muffled though. There's no way this is just Effi being a restless sleeper, and the presence of your newest ally within this unknown danger makes your heart beat a little faster. You would really like to avoid Effi getting hurt if you can. Unlike the rest of your allies, Effi is just a child.Whatever is out there, you don't want to be caught unawares, thankfully, you spot your revolver just off to your side, hung by it's holster on a hook sticking out of one of the room's two wardrobes. You don't bother actually putting it on properly and opt to simply take the gun out of the holster instead, ready to take aim at whatever might be out there.Quietly you slide the door open and look into the room. The curtains are open and the moonlight pours through the windows, giving the room a faint blue glow and allowing you to see. It's not pitch black by any stretch of the imagination though, and you can clearly see the source of what the noise was. There's a statue on the floor, lying face down and completely lifeless. It's a pretty large statue too, almost your height, you would guess. But most concerning is that it's something you don't remember having been in this room at all! Could it have been used as a bludgeoning weapon? With the enhanced strength of your allies, using such a decoration as an improvised weapon could work Meanwhile, Effi's nestlike bedding seems to have been torn apart, blankets and cushions covering the room haphazardly. Just what happened here? Where is Effi? Are you being attacked?
These are the thoughts that plague you as you look about the room, trying to find any sign of life in the pale glow of the moon. You keep looking, determined to find something to give you a hint as to what could have happened, or to the location of Effi. Eventually, you notice that one of the blankets seems to have been slung over something carelessly, though it's in a darker corner of the room and you find yourself unable to accurately tell what exactly it is.It doesn't take long to decide to whip the blanket off of whatever it's concealing though you find yourself immediately regretting it as you do. You back away a bit in shock as right before you are two corpses wearing the uniform of the cabin crew, you can hardly even discern what they looked like given their condition, their faces have deep claw marks rending their skin into ribbons, blood oozing out of the wounds even now, the woman among the two has had what appears to be half a broom handle rammed through her heart. You're pretty certain you've seen the two of them before, when they were alive. Suddenly, you remember just who the two unfortunates were. The two cabin crew from the other day! But why them of all people? What could've brought their corpses into your room? It just doesn't make sense! As you're looking at the two bodies, about to take a closer look at them to see if there's any indication of what manner of creature could've been behind their deaths, you feel a cold hand caress the side of your face from behind. You freeze up, and slowly turn to see exactly who is behind you, only for the sensation to vanish and for you to see that the room is still exactly as it was before.Something is terribly wrong, and you fear you might be about to join the poor cabin crew in their fate unless you can quickly figure out just what's going on here. "What's wrong, Arthur? You aren't scared, are you? It's just a dream, after all." It's a familiar voice, but one with an altogether different tone to how you normally hear it. It's almost... seductive? What the hell does she think she's doing?"Holly!?" You look about the room frantically trying to find her, but having absolutely no luck at it whatsoever, it's almost like she's not in the room at all! That's before she drops down from the sealing in front of you, red eyes seeming to glow with a dangerous power while the two tremendous wings on her back spread outwards. "That's right, Arthur. I don't see a reason to let my... other side hold me back anymore, not while she's dreaming so peacefully. So now we're alone it's just me and you." So that's it is it? This is something along the lines of her suppressed vampire self? Well, at least she's not so lost to her bloodlust that she's simply trying to kill you right away.
"Holly! Come to your senses damn it!" Even so, you would prefer not to have to fight her again, as dangerous as she might be right now, you dislike having to hurt your own allies, especially when they don't seem to be in total control of themselves. The vampire before you simply laughs at you, before reaching a hand towards your neck, as if begging for you to make your own move.>Oblige her and fire the revolver at her a few times. Vampires ought to be durable enough to survive something like that.>Oblige her and call upon the Power of Destruction in order to remove the offending hand before it reaches>Back away from her and try to reason with her while refraining from resorting to violence>Allow her to do whatever it is she's trying to do, she doesn't appear hostile, so perhaps this is a test?>Write-in...

>>4191859That's not the point, the point is that everyone wants to use the PoD without knowing what we did changed it's effects or not. Not to mention if Holly is gonna learn anything it's that HER actions are the ones causing her pain, not someone else's.
>>4191759You're right, let's aim for her head.
>>4191367>Oblige her and call upon the Power of Destruction in order to remove the offending hand before it reaches>>4191875>she causes her own painAnd she's not going to learn that when we cut her hand off for acting aggressively towards us?>We did something to the PoD!As far as I can tell, we got a soul power upgrade when the controller soul came into contact with the greater soul. That should give us more uses before we faint.
If she wants you to retaliate, then you have no choice but to oblige. You call upon the Power of Destruction, noting the significant ease you have with drawing the power outwards and the different point of origin it has. Where before it felt as if it was being brought force from your right arm alone, now it feels as if the power is being drawn out from your heart itself. It seems that whatever you did with the Power of Destruction had some effect after all, you aren't sure just what this might mean just yet though.Thankfully, despite it's new location, the Power of Destruction is just as quick to surround your right hand as it always was, maybe faster, even. In fact, you could likely surround your entire body with the enigmatic destructive energy should you so wish, but something tells you attempting something like that would leave you out of energy and helpless if it wasn't used to successfully put an end to a fight. But as things are now, there's no point in thinking of potential future applications for the power you manipulate, there's only one thing you need to do right now. Whipping your right hand upwards to intercept Holly's hand, you pass straight through her lower forearm, and the energy surrounding your hand immediately eats through the pale flesh of the forearm, leaving it a stump spurting blood. The two of you remain in silence for a moment, Holly's eyes tracking her own hand as it falls to the floor with a thump. Before she slowly brings her gaze back upon you. You keep your expression unamused, not daring show any concern for the Holly's vampire side unless she detects it as your own weakness. Her eyes widen as she fails to detect a hint of compassion in your own, and she backs away while gripping her bleeding stump of an arm with her still attached hand. "Y-you! How could you do this to your own ally!?" She snarls at you, before her expression turns to that of a snivelling girl "I... I thought you'd p-protect me.""Spare me the theatrics, Holly. You're a vampire, and I've seen you regenerate before." You aren't going to let yourself be tricked by this display. You can just tell this is another act, whatever is going on with Holly right now, she's clearly not in a right state of mind. In fact, you'd guess that Holly's bad state of mind is the one calling the shots right now! "You can either surrender now and tell me what made you think this would be a good idea, or I'll just have to force you to surrender. I don't want to have to tell Sophia she was correct about your... training."
The girl takes another few steps backwards away from you in fear, and you're certain that were it possible for her to appear paler than she naturally was, she would be. Though eventually she stops back away and begins to... laugh? "Really? You're going to run off and tell her? What are you? A lost dog that needs it's master to solve all of it's problems?" She spits on the floor. "I might've not been able to show you my true power back when that girl was still able to stop me, but now, now I can show you the true power I've been blessed with!" She quickly moves her bloody stump up to her side as blood begins to rush out of it! Except the blood rushing out of the stump doesn't fall on the floor as you'd have expected, but instead forms the perfect shape of a hand, before congealing and changing in color, matching the pale white of the rest of her skin. She could regenerate that quickly? "Impressed? Really, I thought that this was something that all vampires had, but apparently, only I've been blessed with such abilities, as 'Lady Sophia' is quite unaware of what I've found about myself in my hunts!" This speech is getting tiresome. "You see, Arthur, not only is my regeneration far superior to that of the average vampires, but my body gets more resistant to wha-URK" She's violently stopped halfway through speaking as you drive a fist into the side of her face and she's carried across the room, causing a tremendous crash as she slams into a wall. You've had enough of Holly's vampire half acting so insolent towards you. While she might be your ally, there's a limit to how much you can take from anyone, if she was trying to make you angry, she can deal with the consequences. "Get up, Holly. I can tell that letting you run free was quite the mistake. It seems that Dracula was quite correct about you after all, a spell of pain ought to work well should this mood ever take you again." You stand ready to seperate a few more of Holly's limbs until she capitulates. Whatever she was saying about her body becoming more resistant to damage as it regenerated, such an ability could never help her against something that in this world, cannot be resisted against."S-spell of pain?" Her voice is scared as she slowly rises from the heap she found herself in. "I... I think that might be for the best." She agrees with you, the malevolence in her eyes having faded away. "I'm... I'm sorry I couldn't control her again, it's just... getting stronger the more I try to resist giving it what it wants." The regret in her eyes is genuine. "It's like trying to stand up to all your negative feelings made manifest... I don't know how Lady Sophia does it..." So, does every vampire have to fight against that manifestation of their own feelings then? In order to maintain a modicum of civility? Or is it something that they make peace with and incorporate into themselves? Could the problem here be resolved if she accepted that darker side of herself instead of rejecting it?
"You're back to normal now then, Holly?" You question the girl, hoping to gauge her reaction to determine whether or not this is just another of her darker side's tricks to make you let your guard down. She seems to look her body over, and is startled by the fact that once again she's sprouted wings. "I think I am? I don't really remember what happened, I didn't hurt anyone, did I?" She looks around the room. Her eyes catching on and staring at the two slain crew members almost apologetically. "O-oh.">Approach Holly and try to reassure her that things will be alright.>Scold Holly from a distance about allowing her darker impulses to take control of her.>You don't trust her at all not to simply be trying to lure you into a trap, approach her with your left hand covered in the energy of the Power of Destruction.>Tell her to follow you as you go to visit Sophia for a solution to this problem she's having.>Write-in...

If she was actually fighting and not just trying to be a melodramatic dweeb I'd be more on edge. I can see the long term effects of not dealing with the problem now but her actual actions and attitude just make me make a flat face.
>>4193738>operating under the belief that you're invincible after getting your hand removed with ease. What a dweeb.Holly is dumb.
"If you're truly back to normal, we'll go and see Sophia then, I hope that she's awake at this ungodly hour... though being a vampire I really don't see why she wouldn't be.""W-we can sleep you know. We don't always really need to, but..." Holly trails off as she informs you of a fact you were previously unaware of. Well, hopefully you won't catch Sophia sleeping then, whatever the time is right now, it would be terribly rude to awaken her. Though it is quite an important matter, you can't really have Holly keep losing control over herself without any safeguards in place."Then we'll just have to deal with that after we arrive, I'm sure that her new maid will have no issue with dealing with us no matter the time." She was summoned to serve, after all, and should be willing to accommodate guests no matter the time they choose to arrive. Well, whether she wants to or not, you doubt that whatever contract she's bound to she'll actually have a choice in the matter."So, we're really going back to see her then?" You keep a wary eye on Holly as gesture for her to leave the room, hopefully, you can get this darker side of her under control, who knew that vampires could be so troublesome to be around sometimes? You're stopped in your tracks as Effi's voice calls out from the middle of the room. "I'm fine, thanks for asking." She dusts herself off as she rises to her feet from a prone position. The statue is also gone. Guess that explains that then, some sort of protective form? "I... I didn't hurt you, did I?" Holly looks back with a concerned expression as Effi looks at her as if she is the one looking at a child, and not the other way around. "Somebody like you couldn't even hurt me if they wanted to. You talk a big game, but you use all that power you've been given like you're a child. In a battle, just having pure power might let you beat some people, but against anyone experienced, you'd just get taken out in seconds." Effi's response is surprisingly harsh, especially given her currently unproven ability in combat herself and how much younger she is than Holly. "And what's more, you have absolutely no respect for other people!" She thrusts a finger towards the two bodies leaning against a wall. "I have to sleep in this room you know! I don't want you leaving your messes just lying around like that! I expect you to tidy that up after you get back from being disciplined by Sophia!"Holly is completely stunned by the sudden harsh words from the girl and takes a moment before she even properly registers half of what was said. "I... Of course! I'm sorry for being a nuisance!" She quickly hurries from the room, unable to bear the doppelgänger's condescending gaze any longer
"What a mess." Effi looks around the room with a disapproving expression before picking up Holly's severed hand and noting with curiosity the blood dripping from it. "Ah well, I suppose it's a good enough opportunity as any for this." She gets a single drop of blood on her finger before tossing the hand over to the two corpses, apparently having lost all interest in the severed body part."Effi, just what exactly are you doing?" The girl looks at you with an innocent expression as she notices the concern in your voice. You don't really know if you like what you think she's about to do, it doesn't seem wise for her to go through with what she's clearly thinking of doing."Didn't I already tell you? Doppelgänger's like me can create far superior copies of things with a sample of blood, and being able to replicate that girl ought to be highly beneficial to me in the future. Especially if she decides she's going to try laying a finger on me again." So... she did try to hurt Effi then? That explains the angry response Holly received from the shapeshifter at least, but that does leave the problem of the consumption of vampire blood giving way to actually becoming a vampire, doesn't it?She notices that you're still concerned, and correctly discerns the cause. "If you're worried about me suddenly getting infected by vampirism, I wouldn't bother. As far as I can tell, however it works, it does so with blood as it's medium." You aren't really convinced though, vampirism seems to be something far more advanced than that, especially with all this talk of souls that's being going around. "But! If that doesn't convince you, then you can rest easy knowing that the bodies of Doppelgängers are impossible to change without their conscious consent, any magic that attempts to alter a Doppelgänger's body against it's will is bound to fail!" She sounds awfully pleased about that particular point, almost as if she's recalling something. But before you can exchange any more words with the Doppelgänger, she sticks the finger with the droplet of Holly's blood on it into her mouth, quickly swallowing the tiny droplet with a strained face as she struggles not to gag. "Absolutely disgusting, as expected." Though no direct change comes over Effi, a fact that she's all too happy to point out. "See? It's fine. I'm not about to suddenly desire to drink blood the blood of humans... well, other than for the utility it provides me, at least."Well, looks like you can't really do much here now anyway, except maybe talk with Effi some more, and as much as a pleasant conversation would do for your mind right now, it will have to wait until you have some guarantee that Holly isn't going to suddenly attempt to use you as a refreshing drink or start bringing corpses of people back to your cabin like some sort of murderous cat. Bidding Effi a good night, you leave the cabin and spot Holly awkwardly leaning against the wall opposite as she waits.
"What took you so long? I thought you were following me..." She's barely even trying to disguise the fact that she was slightly bothered by you being delayed due to your talk with Effi. Though her timid speech makes it seem more melancholic and sad than it does actually angry. The girl as she is now just excels at making you take pity on her, for her entire situation. It all only happened to her in the first place because of your actions, so you do feel responsible for the well-being of the poor girl. Even if she has tried to attack you in the past, that can't really be entirely blamed on her. Given the difference in demeanor between Holly and her less friendly other half, it's safe to say that trying to punish Holly as she is now for the actions of the other Holly would just be pointless, and possibly even detrimental to solving the issues."Nothing, I was just talking with Effi for a moment, that's all." You don't really want to tell her that the Doppelgänger is now more than likely of assuming a form that perfectly copies her own, maybe even including some sort of adaptive regeneration power she seemed to have been trying to speak of before you decided to snap her out of her delusions with some blunt physical trauma. The last thing you want now is Holly getting resentful and envious over Effi's abilities, knowing that something she had clearly taken great pride in, at least deep down, could so easily be usurped and used by another is something you doubt she, nor anyone else, would find acceptable."Oh... Ok then. I think I must've upset her... I hope that she doesn't hate me because of whatever happened." It must be hard, not even remaining aware of things whilst your body is used to perform acts you yourself would never go through with, and then being forced to deal with the consequences that your more malevolent side decided to bring about. While you don't want at all to hurt Holly as she is now, thankfully back to normal, you feel as if that darker side to her requires being taught a lesson. But even so, you doubt that Effi will have a positive relationship with Holly in the future anyway, but there's always the hope of reconciliation, you don't truly want any of your allies to consider their comrades to be potential enemies at all.The two of you spend the rest of the time walking in silence, interrupted only by the occasional door or flight of stairs as you walk all the way to that door leading to Sophia's room. Wouldn't it be more convenient if she just moved it to a location nearer to your own cabin? Though you suppose that distance likely isn't that much of an issue when you've got the supernatural speed of a vampire to help you out. Despite the distance, it didn't take that much longer for Sophia to reach your cabin than it did for Alura to fetch Anna, and Anna lives right across the hall from you!
Finally, you find yourself in front of the door to Sophia's strange extradimensional mansion, and just as you're about to knock, the door swings open of it's own regard. She is really too fond of doing that. You don't even know if she consciously has them open, or if it's some sort of automated spell. The first however would mean she's currently aware of your visit, unplanned and unannounced as it is."Upon walking inside the mansion, Holly in tow, you spot that demon maid from before... Adrianne, if you recall. She seems to be more accepting of her new role now though, as she does a curtsy as the two of you enter. "Lord Arthur, the Lady is preparing right now and will be with you shortly. Please, feel free to take a seat." The maid gestures towards a few extravagant looking sofas near the walls. She pleasantly smiles at the two of you as she waits for your response, is this really the same demon from a few days ago? >Take a seat and wait for Sophia to show up.>Snoop around the room and see if you can find anything interesting while you wait.>Refuse to wait and go see Sophia immediately.>Say something to Holly while you wait (what?)>Write-in...

As you take a seat on one of the luxurious sofas, you see Holly still just awkwardly standing there, paralyzed by either indecision or fear, as if she can't actually make her mind up about what she should do. Adrianne simply stares at her, face unmoving, which you can tell isn't really helping Holly get over whatever nerves she might have about going to meet Sophia once again. To her, walking into this place must be very much like walking into a lion's len. Except unlike a lion prepared to pounce upon an unsuspecting victim, Sophia does actually seem to have the girl she turned's best interests at heart. "Come on Holly, there's nothing to be so worried about." You try to coax her into action by indicating the empty space on the sofa right next to you, hopefully she ought to actually respond and not simply stand just inside the mansion like a deer caught in the headlights only now just realizing the mistake it had made. She blinks a few times and shakes her head before silently walking over to you, her hands hang limply by her sides, yet are clenched so tightly it's a wonder that she isn't cutting into her own flesh with her nails. "Sorry. I... I just... don't like being in this place. I didn't enjoy my time here at all." She looks around the room wearily, as if expecting the shadows to suddenly animate and attack her."You shouldn't be so nervous about all this, Holly. Think of it like... a trip to the dentist, or something." Honestly, you aren't sure whether or not the comparison calms her down that much, as she still clenches her hands tightly, though her stiff expression seems to lighten up a little at least, with the faint twitch of a smile appearing before vanishing. "Besides, Sophia doesn't actually mean you harm, I think. Don't you think that maybe whatever training she was making you go through was to prepare you for things like this happening to you?" She looks into your eyes as you continue speaking. "She might not act like it now, given how long it's been, but it's a safe bet to say that once upon a time, Sophia was probably just like you, afraid of what her new power was doing to her." Well, at least that's probably how it happened. It's also possible that Sophia willingly threw away her humanity in a bid for power or immortality, but given the age she's been frozen at for the rest of her endless lifespan, it's pretty difficult for you to really think that she was some sort of immortality seeker during her time as a human, not at that age.
Holly tilts her head slightly as she questions you. "You really think so? You think that her master made her go through all that horrible training she made me go through? I thought I was going to die!" You don't mention it to her, but overcoming the fear of death from things that actually couldn't kill her may have been the point of at least some of her training. Like for example, the instinctual fear of drowning every human has within them. As far as you can tell, vampires don't actually need to breathe. So that primal fear is completely worthless to them. "Do you think that just because you're a vampire, that your life is destined to be one full of ease? That you're immune to hardship? As painful as it might be for you, and as bad as I feel for agreeing to it, Sophia's training was likely preparing you for what you might've faced upon leaving her. I don't think she was genuinely serious about half the things she said to you anyway." There is such a thing as tough love, and though Sophia might be harsh on Holly, you've directly experienced what happens when Holly is allowed to run wild twice now. While the second time, she seemed more interested in gloating and boasting about her power, the first time she attacked you like a wild animal would. "I... I suppose you might have a point." She sighs. "If I don't get that other side of me under control, who knows what sort of person I might turn into..." Her contemplation is interrupted as the double doors ahead open after a clicking noise fills the room. Leaving you to look upon Sophia, who is wearing a beautiful red gown, covered in frilly fabric."I apologize for the wait, Arthur. You caught me slightly off guard with the time of your arrival, after all, I simply wasn't prepared for this visit at all!" She takes a breath. "But I don't suppose that you've simply decided to come visit me at this time due to being taken by some flight of fancy for small talk with me." She pointedly looks at Holly. "I suppose this has something to do with your newest maid, I doubt she would've willingly come here without purpose, after all." She doesn't make any sort of expression as she looks more deeply at Holly, remaining silent as she does. Is she waiting for an explanation?>Remain silent, this isn't exactly a matter you're an expert in.>Urge Holly to explain her situation to Sophia.>Inform Sophia of Holly's problems with this alter ego of hers.>Ask Sophia to truthfully explain the purpose of her training to Holly.>Write-in...

>>4196506I'll go ahead and support this.Holly and her vampire mom need to get themselves a better relationship.I do think Sophia cares for her retarded vampire child, at least in her own way.She was grateful enough to give her the gift (by force.) so she ought to have at least some care for Holly. And spell of pain might be useful for keeping DARK HOLLY at bay.

You let out a sigh. "And your supposition would be correct. It's something only you might have any experience with also. So I came as soon as I possibly could. Though I must apologize for arriving at such late... or rather, early hours. It was a matter that simply could not wait." You look at Holly for a moment, expecting her to chime in, but after a few seconds of silence, you continue. "There seems to be some strange sort of alternate personality developing within Holly, one far less in control of herself than she is normally, even going so far as to threaten and insult me." You feel as if you can feel Holly shrinking in shame out of the corner of your eye. "So I've come here both for some advice on the matter, and to possibly carry out Dracula's advice on the matter." She raises an eyebrow at the mention of Dracula's name. "To be able to ask the previous Dark Lord any question you wished to know the answer too, or for any advice he might have, you truly are blessed, Arthur." Is there a tone of jealously in her voice? "But lets not get distracted talking about ghosts of the past. You want to know why Holly has an alternate personality, right?" You wordlessly nod, prompting her to continue. "Well, I believe it has something to do with Holly's subconcious rejection of her vampirism. It's rare for such things to happen, but there are some cases where a vampire might try too hard to cling on to their lost humanity, eventually leading to a darker personality forming and growing more powerful with every suppressed feeling. For most vampires, losing control of themselves will simply cause them to enter a primal, animal like state, before eventually they manage to regain control of their senses" She looks at Holly. "Not quite the case for you though, Holly. Should that dark personality continue to gain in strength. Should you lose yourself to your powers, when you come back to your senses, you'll find that you're a prisoner in your own mind, forced to watch powerless to interfere as your darker side wreaks havoc in your body." She frowns as she finishes her explanation, and you also frown. It's worse than you thought then, there doesn't Holly gasps in shock. "N-no... So you're saying...?" She trips over her own words as she struggles to express herself."That's right. If you don't wish to be reduced to an evil caricature of yourself, there's nothing you can do but accept those dark feelings as your own. You are a vampire now, Holly. I do wish you were less stubborn about things." So that's it? Sophia's advice to stop Holly from turning into a monster is just accept it's emotions as her own?Holly looks as if she's about to shout out something in rage, before all the built up anger simply disappears, as all the power leaves her body. "So, there's... nothing I can do then? I have to either act like a monster, or risk turning into a real one? That's... that's just unfair!"
"Many things are unfair, Holly. Don't worry though, you won't stop being yourself if you simply make those dark feelings your own. In time, you might even learn to master them." Sophia shakes her head at the girl before her. "Though, there is another way, though it's not one you'll enjoy should you have to resort to it." Holly looks as if she already knows what Sophia is about to say."The spell of pain...?" Holly utters quietly under her breath, barely loud enough for you to hear, but Sophia seems to hear it perfectly, despite being a greater distance from Holly than you."That's correct. While it's not something I would have thought of if not for that revelation Arthur had from Dracula, I should be able to create a spell that can be activated on you that will plunge your body into a terrible pain while doing no true damage. Though to be a true solution I'll have to make it as painful as possible. Otherwise it might not have the desired effect of shaking control loose, should it be required." She starts speaking quietly as she finishes explaining, you try to listen in and you can't make any sense of what she's saying. Magical jibberish, you've no doubt. Though she suddenly seems to remember something. "But remember. Just because this solution might exist, eventually, even this will fail. Should you continually reject your own thoughts, eventually, this darker side's personality will simply subsume your own personality." So, even with this spell of pain, Holly has no choice behind things. It's one hell of an ultimatum, you suppose. 'Act like a vampire or cease existing.'"I... I understand." Holly is clearly thinking deeply about this. But she's putting on a brave face now regardless. You hope that by becoming the Dark Lord, you aren't inviting this to happen to yourself."I think we've spoken in the lobby long enough about this matter, regardless. I'll have this spell of pain ready come the morning." She turns and begins to walk away. "However, if you would prefer to stay for a while longer, we could discuss our plans for the future in the lounge. Or perhaps simply relax over a cup of tea?" Sophia is tapping her foot lightly, almost impatiently as she waits for your response.>"Perhaps now we should start planning for our next course of action." (Write-in anything you want to ask Sophia about and anything in particular you want to do when you get off the boat.)>"Creating a plan will have to come later, for now though, a cup of tea sounds lovely.">"I ought to be getting back to my cabin by now. Arthur should gain more levels in Dank Lord first before he goes for that kind of thing. Also due to a lot of easy kill humans around, Alura hasn't had any reason to ask the party for blood donations. I hope this has to change a bit later down the line, because I don't know if WhatIs would play up the gothic horror lewd aspect and write a scene with Arthur and Alura with... sensual blood donation. >>4198787I still think we should try to get an actual Philosophers Stone of our own.If Dracula was that stupidly strong with a defective product, imagine the power of the real deal.
It's a 3-3 draw again, folks.>>4198722>>4198768Anons, why stop at action or kung-fu movies when you can just show her a single film to help her use her shapeshifting abilities to their max potential?
>>4198917Because I don't want to be scared of a little girl.
>>4198932You probably don't want to introduce her to body horror in that case then. Effective for intimidating your enemies though, or if you should ever end up needing to torture anyone. These last couple of votes have really been quite divisive though, huh?I don't like having to rely on rolling a dice or flipping a coin.So I'll give things another hour or so.
Rolled 2 (1d2)Well that turned into two hours.Ah well, guess I have no choice.1 = Stay 2 = Go
It's a matter that you do take some time to decide on, while you should be getting back to your own cabin in order to clear things up with them about what happened and maybe warn them that until she gets herself under control, Holly is a potential danger to them all, the offer to simply relax with Sophia over a cup of tea is a tempting one. After all, so far your relationship with Sophia is a far more business-like relationship than it is a personal one... well, most of the time. However, ensuring the rest of your allies are informed of the situation holds precedence. It's pretty likely Alura was woken up by the commotion caused when you were dealing with Holly earlier, and Effi might not be perfect to rely on to give an accurate account of what's going on with Holly. Not through any maliciousness on her part, but just simply due to a lack of information."It's a shame, but I don't think I can right now, Sophia." Her smile falters a bit. You might have to course correct here, lest this damage your fledgling relationship with her. "But, I'll make time to visit you when I can, when things aren't so hectic as to require my constant attention. I don't want them to come to any misunderstandings, after all." Perhaps tomorrow you can spend some time with her, she did mention that the new spell should be done by then, and you hopefully shouldn't have any pressing matters to attend to. Though it has been a while since you last saw Grigori, and you aren't really sure what he's up to right now. Not like you can blame him for his hesitation on coming to visit you himself though. After all, you're pretty sure that Alura will just look for an excuse to execute and devour the assassin, or whatever fate she has in mind for him."That's... a shame. But I suppose it's understandable. These aren't exactly sociable hours, are they?" She looks away from you. "I'll hold you to that promise, Arthur." There's a certain air of danger to the way she finishes that sentence, as if there's a knife to your throat. "We'll meet again soon, I hope." The air of danger disappears as she flashes you a smile and walks away. Adrianne escorts both you and Holly back out of the mansion quickly and professionally. It's still difficult to believe she's the same demon as the defiant women from before.
The door gently closes behind you as you step outside, leaving you in the dimly lit corridors of the cruise ship with Holly, who's looking quite pensive still. "I... I don't know if I'm ever going to get used to her, you know." Holly speaks up. "Lady Sophia, I mean. She's so cruel, but... was she really just trying to help me?" You remain silent. This is a matter that can really only be discussed between Holly and the vampire who turned her. There are some things that you can't help with, and the relationship between the two vampires is one of them, even if you've tried your best to fix it, more interfere might work against your efforts so. It's simply something Holly will have to figure out how she wants to approach herself. At least now she isn't officially bound to Sophia's service, she might be able to come to another conclusion about her. After she remains silent for a while, you decide to change the subject. "Holly, we should be getting back to the cabin, who knows what story Effi might be spinning to Alura right now." Hopefully you are wrong in your assumption, but it's best you get back anyway instead of just standing around. If Sophia was watching you right now, it would appear to her that you turned down her offer to spend some time with her in order to aimlessly stand in a corridor.Holly doesn't seem to respond all too much, mumbling some affirmative sound as she follows after you. She's really lost in thought now, it seems. You can't really blame her though, she's been given a lot to take in just now. Expecting her to be an excellent conversation partner isn't something you are about to do, given the current circumstances. So once again you walk mostly in silence, all the way back to your cabin. Holly trudging along after you with an unreadable expression on her face. You wonder just what she's thinking of right now. You'd probably have a lot of questions to ask if you suddenly developed some sort of evil version of yourself too.You open up the door to your cabin, to the sight of Alura leaning against a wall and Effi sitting on an arm chair, swinging her legs back and forth. The corpses that were left in the room have thankfully vanished, as have all the signs of violence that adorned the room when you left. Alura quickly takes note of your return. "You've returned from your late night rendezvous with... Sophia, I assume? What remedy did she suggest for sudden spouts of treachery?" She eyes Holly with a wary eye. "Effi here tells me that you clearly weren't simply lost to bloodlust, Holly. In fact, you apparently seemed perfectly sane."
Holly looks hurt as Alura's words lash her. She seems like she's about to say something, but you aren't so sure that Alura will believe her words. This might be a good time for you to get involved, though it might also be a good time to allow Holly to learn and develop. You can't hold her hand forever...>Have Holly defend herself on her own. She's going to need to learn to stand by herself at some point.>Explain to Alura and Effi what you learned from Sophia about Holly's darker side yourself.>Work together with Holly to explain just what happened, with you backing her up should she need it.>Write-in...

>>4199390>Have Holly defend herself on her own. She's going to need to learn to stand by herself at some point.Alura actually likes you, Holly.
>>4199390>Have Holly defend herself on her own. She's going to need to learn to stand by herself at some point.I really do want to help Holly with this, but Alura might be more worried then anything.
>>4199390>Have Holly defend herself on her own. She's going to need to learn to stand by herself at some point.Arthur should say something motivational. What is something motivational that Castlevania protags could say? Maybe a quiet nod of affirmation might be enough for her to get the message? Maybe not? I dunno.
