The Lighthouse War is over, but conflict still continues.

With Erusea's defeat at the hands of the Osean Federation and the International United Nations, the imperial nation has splintered into a confusing mess of separatists, freedom fighters, warlords, rogue military factions, and those seeking to profit from the chaos. Worse, Erusea's many automated drone factories still remain intact, waiting for new masters to come to claim them.

The Usean continent remains in crisis, and it's up to a new generation of pilots to face this next generation threat...

You are MILLY, the "Red Tail", a Belkan Air Force pilot fighting for the IUN!

You feel a cold, slimy sensation as END tackles you and wraps her gloved hands around your throat in an attempt to choke you out. The force of the tackle sends you falling backwards onto the deck.

END seems like she wants to say something, but instead coughs out this gross, sticky pink fluid all over you.

It's at this point, though, that the crew and your wingmates finally intervene. Or maybe it just seemed like a long time passed when everything happened in a split second. A pair of burly Marines each grab END by the arms and yank her off of you. She didn't look to be that large or strong herself, anyways. Vicky and Misono likewise grab your shoulders and pull you away as well.

"What is this stuff?" Misono frowns as she looks at her fingers, now coated in the pink fluid as well.

"I have a hunch but..." Vicky frowns when there's a sudden interruption.

One of the flight deck elevators begins to lower, showing a freshly landed helicopter bearing the national crest of Belka. You see a knot of suited government spooks, and at their lead was.... Uncle?!

"Well be taking charge of her from here." Uncle says calmly, walking towards the Marines holding down END.

"Excuse me, sir?" The Marines pause.

Uncle casually reaches into his coat and pulls out a piece of paper, which he shows to the Marines.

"Per the IUN Charter, prisoners taken by IUN or IUN-affiliated personnel shall be remanded to their home country. Annelise Becker here is a Belkan citizen, and shall be treated as one accordingly. If you still have any issues, this transfer order is signed by your ship's captain himself."

The Marines glance at the paper, and then nod.

"All right, she's your problem, then."

Uncle then nods to his attendants, who swiftly take the Marines' place in restraining END, who was still struggling while coughing up a storm. You see Uncle glance in your direction and give a slight nod before returning to the helicopter.

"Come on, Milly! We need to get you to the infirmary to get checked out!" Vicky insists, helping you get up to your feet.

"Yes, who know if this... substance is dangerous or not." Misono nods in agreement. "I'm sure Bandit would like to know what's going on, too."

"Wait a minute!" You shake yourself free from Vicky and Misono's grip and chase after Uncle. "Hey! Wait up!"

Uncle and his "attendants" pause. Uncle gives a slight nod to his men, who continue carrying END to the helicopter. Uncle then turns to face you.

"Milly, it's good to see you." Uncle says, maintaining an oddly professional and businesslike manner. Probably because of all the people present.

"Uncle, what the hell is this all about?" You scowl. "Where are you taking her?"

"To Belka. Where she belongs." Uncle says simply. "That goes for Erwin and the others. They will be properly taken care of there."

"Really." You raise an eyebrow.

"They'll be treated better than in any IUN or Osean prison." Uncle points out.

You remember that prison facility at the 444th base. Where a lot of your... fans were at.

"Okay, you have a point there." You concede.

"So what exactly do you want, then?" Uncle sighs. "We do not have much time here."

"I just want to talk to Erwin." You say.

"That's not a good idea, especially right now." Uncle pauses.

"Uncle, please. It's important to me." You insist.

"I still don't advise it. Neither of you are in the proper condition." Uncle glances at you, still dressed in your G-suit and coated in that sticky pink stuff that was filling up END's cockpit. "All right, it sounds good." You sigh. You didn't necessarily like this situation, but you trusted Uncle. He hadn't let you down yet.

"Good. Don't worry, I'll follow through on my end." Uncle makes a move to pat you on the head, but remembers you're still covered in the pink goo and catches himself just in time.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it." You grunt.

"I'll be seeing you soon then, Milly!" Uncle quickly makes his escape as he boards the helicopter. The elevator then begins lifting up and out of sight back to the flight deck above.

And with that little bit of theater over, the crew begins going back to their own tasks. You turn and see Mead present, now looking over the cockpit pod while what looks be a medic team from the infirmary had run all the way over with a stretcher. You finally submit to being taken away by the medics, much to Vicky and Misono's relief. You're quickly carted back to the infirmary, where you're swiftly stripped out of your G-suit and given a thorough scrubbing to get all that pink goo off of you.

They also very quickly take a sample to make sure the stuff wasn't toxic or poisonous. Doubtful since END was basically swimming in a tank full of the stuff. Then again, give hour time in One Belka, you could totally see someone like END not caring about negative side effects if meant giving her an edge.

You were aware of that feeling all too well.

"Well, the good news is, there does not appear to be any significant damage or injury." The doctor tells you. "As for the fluid that was on you, as far as we can tell, it's not immediately harmful. However, we don't know what exactly it is yet or if it has any sort of long term effects to prolonged exposure, I so suggest you get a proper shower to get it all off."

"Uh huh, I get it." You sigh. "Is that all?"

"I'm sorry, but our lab facilities on board the ship are somewhat limited. All we can do is treat you for any conditions you're currently suffering."

"Great. Always wanted to get cancer at my age." You sigh.

"Everything points to you at being the pinnacle health. You shouldn't worry." The doctor assures you.

"Yeah yeah, I got it." You sigh, tugging at your disconcertingly skimpy hospital gown. "Anyways, can I get my clothes back?"

"Your flightsuit is getting washed since it was also doused in the fluid." The doctor informs you. "We have a spare flightsuit we can loan you until the washing is finished."

One of the nurse then brings in an... Osean flighsuit?!

Shit, you remember that the Andersen was an Osean carrier, after all.

"I'd rather go out naked!" You protest.

"Well, suit yourself." The doctor shrugs as he motions for the nurse to take the flighsuit away. "However, I can't allow you to move around the halls like this, so I'll have to ask you to stay confined to the infirmary for the time being."

"What?!" You exclaim.

"We can't have you wandering around the ship like this. It would cause too much of a disturbance." The doctor notes. "And we're already on high alert as we process the wreckage of the battle. So you stay put for now, and I'll let your friends come in to keep you company."

"Fine, fine." You grumble.

The doctor then nods to the nurse at the door, who opens it up and Vicky and Misono rush in.

"Milly!" Vicky practically tackles you back onto the bed. "You're okay, right? Nothing broken? You're not irradiated or poisoned or anything are you!?"

"I'm all right, Vicky." You laugh. "Just, you know, kinda exposed at the moment."

"I'm sure it will take a while to wash all that weird fluid off." Misono nods. "The doctors don't know what it is?"

"Not a clue." You shrug. as you casually stroke Vicky's hair.

"He most likely is." Misono nods. "It's would be quite the adorable sight to see!"

"You'd figure that they'd be here, though?" You frown. "Considering what happened to Sofia."

"Oh, you mean that Sapinese pilot that we picked up?" One of the nurses perks up. "She was already inspected and released, right before you came in!"

You just look at Vicky and Misono and then back at the nurse.

"Where there a guy with her? Tall dark and handsome?"

And soon enough, you've swallowed your pride and are wearing an... OSEAN flightsuit as you stride down the hall with Vicky and Misono by your side.

"W-what?! Why me?" Vicky blurts.

"You're the one who knows the layout of a carrier the best!" You tell her. "Lead the way!"

"O-okay! I'll do my best!" Vicky gulps, sweating now that the pressure was on her to perform.

She then leads you and MIsono on a journey deep down into the bowels of the Anderson. You snake through long, narrow hallways, through empty chambers until finally, you Vicky rounds a corner and instantly freezes.

"S-sir!" Vicky salutes instinctively.

"Don't worry, we can give you two some privacy if you want~!" You say teasingly.

"That's really not necessary-" Bandit is interrupted when Sofia stands between him and you.

"Why thank you, Milly! How very kind of you!" Sofia smiles sweetly.

"As Milly has said, we should give them their privacy." Misono tuts with a knowing smile. "It was very rude of us to intrude on them during their private affairs."

The three of you head back to the hangar deck, where you can see Mead still inspecting END's cockpit pod. Most of that gross pink stuff had already been cleared away, allowing Mead to actually get inside the pod to inspect its contents.

"Yo, Mead! You find anything important?" You ask as you walk up.

"Heh, of course you'd be the one asking, huh?" Mead pokes her head out. "Though I gotta say, this is some real science fiction shit right here."

You take a peek inside the cockpit, and see that as you expected, it was completely enclosed with no canopy or windows. The area where the canopy would be instead was a massive, curved display screen. Down below, you could see standard flight controls and the stick.

"Looks like a typical COFFIN setup." You frown. "Even I've had a go at it in training. It's not THAT special."

"Nonono, not that." Mead shakes her head. "What do you see is missing?"

"Huh?" You take a look at the flight setup again.

"Where's the oxygen system?" Vicky wonders.

"Bingo!" Mead snaps her fingers, startling Vicky. "There's no oxygen system! Which is weird since every plane needs one when you're high altitude!"

"You're right..." Misono frowns. "So how could END breathe?"

"The answer was right in front of us all along." Mead nods. "Or more accurately, all fucking over you, Milly."

"Wait, you don't mean-" You blanch.

"Yeah, that pink shit that was all over you and END? Liquid oxygenation." Mead nods. "No need to even breathe conventionally. That stuff just directly carries oxygen into your lungs."

"Why would someone even need to do that?" Vicky balks.

"I get it now!" Misono gasps. "It's about G-forces, right? A liquid based environment is more resistant!"

"Bingo." Mead nods. "Osea experimented with that idea before with flightsuits filled with liquid instead of air. Effective, but the limiting factor was always the air in the pilot's lungs, which was still getting thrown around. But if the lungs were to be filled with a liquid with the same density as the liquid environment..."

"You're right, that's some real sci-fi shit." You frown as you glance at the cockpit. "Neo One Belka had this sort of shit?"

"Not surprising given who their supposed benefactors are." Mead shakes her head. "Looks like things are going to get real messy really soon."

You could only nod in agreement as you give the cockpit pod a long and hard stare. A liquid cockpit with liquid oxygenation? Just what the hell was Neo One Belka and Grunder working at? Did they have more tricks ready to pull out of their hats?

You simply didn't know, and that fact concerned you greatly.

It won't be like Milly switching to Karla's side in the past, and they'll probably hate us more and more while they're locked up.

I think we can get either END or Erwin into Milly's personal army down the line if we play our cards right. With our prisoner boys that would make a solid nucleaus actually.

Thankfully, it looked like that Uncle had come through with his promise, and hardly a day had passed before new orders filtered down from IUN Command. Belka was officially withdrawing your squadron from the IUN and requesting your immediate transfer back to the home country.

This meant that technically, Vicky and Misono were free to leave since they weren't part of the Belkan Air Force. However, both of them were adamant about sticking with the squadron, at least until this whole Neo One Belka situation was sorted out.

However, Bandit had reservations about including them in this whole operations. As outsiders, he felt it wasn't right to drag them into Belka's internal affairs, especially considering how dangerous and subversive Neo One Belka could be with secret support from Grunder.

Your opinion, though, was...

You stressed to Bandit that Vicky and Misono were both part of Raven Squadron, regardless of whatever a damn piece of paper said!

And so the four of you were in the air, flying together on the way back to Belka. At this rate, you should reach Dinsmark in about an hour. Thankfully, the trip so far had been uneventful, with nothing coming up to challenge your progress.

Bandit meanwhile had been silent for nearly the entire trip. Not only was he still probably embarrassed about that whole thing with Sofia, but catching him up on what you found out about END and Uncle intervention were also troubling him. Looks like he was being kept in the dark about Belkan Intelligence's full involvement in this, too.

"Oh man, you guys are gonna love Dinsmark!" You say with an almost giddy glee. "I mean, it's kinda cold since we're pretty far north, but I'm sure it shouldn't be too bad for you two!"

"My home's probably a lot colder." Vicky remarks.

"I think I'll be able to manage." Misono says with a bit of uncertainty. She was from a tropical country, after all.

"And I can't wait to show you Victory Plaza, where we do all the military parades, and the Belkan War Memorial, where we hold all our ceremonies. Oh! And there's the University! You definitely should meet the Professor! Or wait! We can go to Karla's house and we can totally triple team Elisa, that little twerp!"

"You're certainly excited about this!" Misono laughs.

"Yeah! It's not often I get friends from outside the country to visit!" You say giddily. "Lotta people are too afraid to travel to Belka, you know?"

"Wait a minute." Vicky speaks up. "Aren't we your ONLY foreign friends?"

"Semantics, Vicky." You quickly brush her off. "But yeah! Things will be great!"

"After we handle our business, of course." Bandit finally speaks up.

"Yeah, you're right about that." You agree. "So they're being held at Dinsmark Base?"

"Correct. Best to keep them close to home." Bandit says. "Though we have to be careful. We still don't know the full extent to how much they've entrenched themselves in Belka."

"Yeah, I get it."

Finally, your squadron reaches Dinsmark proper. It's then that you realize that this would be the first time you would be flying your Wyvern over the city. Would the people below still recognize the paint job?

Soon enough, your squadron lands at Dinsmark Base, where you find Uncle, Karla, and Jager already waiting for your arrival.

"You're damn right we do!" You huff. "The hell have you all being doing while we were working our asses off out there?"

"Come along, we will explain." Uncle assures you as he leads to the admin building, where a secure conference room has been reserved.

You and your squadron take a seat at the meeting table. Jager takes a position at the door while Uncle and Karla sit down opposite of you.

"To explain things right away, as you may have guessed, Belkan Intelligence has been keeping a close eye on Neo One Belka and the IUN's movements." Uncle starts. "The moment you neutralized their mobile submarine base, we knew that was our opportunity to sweep up their entire overseas operation in one fell swoop."

"Actually worked well beyond expectations." Karla adds. "Props to you guys for acting so fast on it."

"The IUN shouldn't have let you just take all the prisoners without some sort of resistance." Bandit narrows his eyes. "What did you promise them?"

"We simply allowed them to impound the submarine and whatever other technology Neo One Belka left behind." Uncle shrugs. "Technology can be replicated, but people and their knowledge cannot."

"Would've been nice to keep at least some of the stuff..." You grumble.

"That would have drawn Osea's attention on us and that, quite frankly, is one of the last things we want at this time." Uncle says calmly.

"And I believe Yuktobania has that submarine technology already, anyways." Misono points out.

"Submarines are overrated anyways!" Vicky huffs.

"Anyways." Karla speaks up to regain everybody's attention. "We already know the Osean Intelligence Agency is aggressively investigating Grunder and Neo One Belka after Dr. Schroeder defected and turned himself in to IUN custody. He's exposed quite a lot about Grunder's internal workings, and we expect Osean authorities to raid Grunder's headquarters within the month."

"So? Let Osea and Grunder shoot each other up, then. How's that our problem." You shrug.

"Because once Grunder realizes they're being targeted, they may attempt to play some sort of trump card or desperation tactic." Uncle says grimly. "It would not be the first time they've done something like that."

"Not to mention, if there's any remaining Neo One Belka cells still in Belka, seeing their main benefactor getting raided might stir them into a frenzy." Karla adds. "That's why rounding up as many members as we can was so important to us. We need to know if these cells exist and where."

"As I understand it, you have a personal connection to at least one of them, correct?" Uncle raises an eyebrow. "Erwin, if I'm not mistaken."

"Yeah, he used to be in the original One Belka with me." You nod. "I wouldn't say we were friends, but we were comrades in arms."

"Perhaps we can use that to our advantage." Uncle nods. "Would you like to speak with him?"

>I'm guessing that the END would be a "what if" from the original ACQ if Karla didn't bring Milly out of her radical political views. Literally a Milly Alter of something.

That's the actually funny thing. It's been pretty clear that Milly's extremely nationalist political views have been relatively unchanged. She simply draws the line at literal terrorism now. Which in itself is a fun part of her character augmented by the knight bit. Especially in contrast to Karla.

Although what you said made me think that END may be a clone of us. Or at least used part of our dna.

"I'd rather be alone." You say. "Though I'm sure you'll be recording the whole thing anyways."

"Of course. We can't afford to miss anything." Uncle chuckles. "All right, follow me."

You follow Uncle through a maze of hallways until you reach a heavy metal door flanked by a pair of guards. They salute as you and Uncle approach.

"He is currently restrained, but please keep a safe distance from him. We don't want any unfortunate accidents." Uncle warns. "If you require the guards or want to leave, there is a red button on the table you can press to summon them."

"Okay, I got it." You nod.

The guards then open the door and you quickly shuffle in.

The interrogation room is dark and musty, with only a single light illuminating a bare, steel table. On one side was Erwin, his arms and legs handcuffed to the chair he was sitting in. He's disheveled and fatigued, but was still retaining that really annoying smug sense of superiority that he always had.

"Milly." He grins weakly. "To what do I owe this honor?"

You deliberately threw a softball question to Erwin because you knew the smug bastard couldn't pass up a chance to brag about his and One Belka's ideals and motivations. It was one of his weaknesses that you knew could be exploited, so you decided to start off with that to loosen up his tongue.

"Is it really that hard to guess?" Erwin chuckles. "You remember how Osea won the Belkan War, yes? Even though Belka had the superior warriors?"

"I have an idea, but you tell me." You reply carefully. One lesson you remembered from Uncle in situations like this was never to give away more information than you needed. Don't let the subject trick you into revealing what you yourself knew.

"Their sheer logistical superiority. " Erwin nods. "Infinite manpower, resources, and materiel. A small, fractured country like Belka had no chance to fight Osea head on, and the Gray Men knew that. That's why they engineered the Circum Pacific War."

"What does that have to do with now?" You narrow your eyes. "You're just talking about long past conflicts."

"You see, the Circum Pacific War had some... unforeseen but interesting consequences." Erwin smiles. "Having become a resurgent military power, Osea began exporting its influence and military all over the world. All you would need is the right spark on one of their many overseas holdings, and you could spark a war in a foreign, faraway land Osea would have no choice but to involve itself in."

"Erusea." You state simply.

"It worked magnificently, too, if only it hadn't been cut short from our projections." Erwin scowls. "So our backup plan was to sow additional chaos in the postwar maelstrom. After all, the more resources Osea commits overseas is less resources and can use to respond to a resurgent Belka."

I'm a bit confused though. If Belka were ready and waiting to exploit Osea being busy, that would be one thing. But the government hasn't been preparing for war as far as i can tell. In which case we can assume one of two things

1. Erwin knows something nobody here does about war plans
2. Next stage was gonna be pressuring the government into a war

He may actually have done us a favor guys. If Osea is busy in another continent They might be less willing to forcibly occupy South Belka when it votes for Anschluss with Belka.

Either there are ultra-nationalist elements still present in the Belkan Self Defense Forces, or Neo One Belka has political patrons or puppets, or both.

"Gotta admit, that's a crafty plan." You say, playing along to Erwin's ego. "But if you don't have control of the government, how are you actually going to convince them to rise up?"

"Who said anything about involving that cowardly puppet government?" Erwin chuckles. "I can assure you, measures are in place to carry that plan to fruition."

"So you do admit you've got a presence on the continent." You frown.

"I won't deny that. We have people everywhere." Erwin grins.

"All right, let's change the subject, then." You continue. "What the hell is the deal with END?"

"Ah, so you DID finally meet in person." Erwin laughs. "How was it?"

"Violent." You grunt.

"I suppose it's to be expected. She does have a rather strong dislike of you." Erwin nods.

"I don't suppose it had anything to with anything you told her." You glower.

"You're a traitor to the cause. That's all she needed to be told." Erwin grins. "Poor Annelise has had a troubled history with traitors, so it's not surprising."

"What's this history with traitors that she has?" You ask, deciding to take Erwin's bait. The more he got himself the talking, the more chances he had of making a mistake.

"Once upon a time, during the Belkan War, a small, handpicked team of Belkan patriots were given one of the utmost important missions." Erwin recounts. "To demonstrate Belka's resolve, these patriots were to drop atomic bombs on Belka's very own soil. To force our enemies to see the folly in trying to invade us."

"Don't tell me..."

"Annelise's father was one of those handpicked few." Erwin nods. "However, he proved himself to be a traitor and craven coward. He refused to drop his bombs and turned his plane around. Not only that, but he also sabotaged the bombs so they couldn't be used. He was tried and executed as a traitor that very same day."

"That can't be the only reason." You frown.

"It was all the reason that was needed." Erwin laughs bitterly. "I wonder what it was like, growing up for years being treated like dirt and told it was because your father was a traitorous coward? Annelise is simply a victim of the weakness and cowardice that plagues Belka today. Weakness and cowardice that she will remove with her own two hands."

"And I'm sure you had a LOT to say about me, huh?" You scowl.

"What can I say? Your betrayal of us was all that was needed to convince her you were her enemy. And not only did you escape punishment, you were REWARDED for your treachery! The type of person who was going to bring Belka to ruin once again."

"You seriously can't believe any of that crap." You frown with disgust.

"It doesn't matter what I believe. It's the truth she believes." Erwin chuckles.

"You manipulated her!" You protest.

"I simply told her the truth." Erwin counters. "Do you you even know how few of us original members are left? Many were felled thanks to your betrayal, or at the hands of that witch who enthralled you. You may have forgotten them all, but she doesn't."

"Not happy? That doesn't look like it to me!" Erwin shoots back. "Look at you, traipsing around the world with another infamous Belkan traitor and a pair of foreign whores, without a care in the world! Who are you to to judge us?"

"I don't know what Annelise has gone through, but I for sure am not letting you assholes keep having your way with her!" You shout back. "She's just a dumb kid like me who got roped into something she didn't understand! I won't let you keep manipulating her for your harebrained schemes!"

"Hmph. You say that as it would affect our plans." Erwin laughs darkly. "She's already served her purpose. We already have all the flight data we need for our second generation of drones. The loss of Mihaly's data was a major setback, but Annelise's should prove to be a suitable replacement!"

However, the both of you realize what had just happened. Erwin immediately shuts up, having made that critical mistake you were waiting for.

"New drones, huh?" You grin. "Thanks, Erwin. That really explains a lot now."

"You can't stop the plan. Events are already in motion." Erwin says simply and coldly.

"I have to say, that was rather masterful manipulation you performed in there." Uncle nods sagely as you both view Erwin stewing in the interrogation room behind a one way mirror window. "We did suspect drones would be involved in their next plot, but this certain gives us more confidence. We'll have the authorities scour all potential launch and storage sites."

"But isn't one of the advantage of drones that you can basically pack them anywhere?" You frown. "I mean, the Eruseans used to hide them in container ships and turned them into ghetto carriers."

"That is a big problem yes, but there's only so much you can do to hide the presence of a drone, especially large numbers of them." Uncle replies, glaring at Erwin through the window.

"I have to say, you even had me wondering whether you were being genuine or not." He continues. "Regarding your feelings about leaving One Belka."

"Well what do you know about her, anyways?" You ask Uncle. "You already seem to know a LOT about her."

"It only took some simple investigation." Uncle sighs. "Unsurprisingly, her circumstances aren't all that different from yours, and falls in line with the typical traits of those likely to join ultranationalist groups. Young, orphaned, and fairly well educated."

"Well, that's a match, sure." You nod. "But her troubles can't be from the Belkan War, right? She seems to be a bit younger than me."

"That's correct." Uncle confirms. "Annelise's tragedy stems from the Circum-Pacific War. She and her family were in Yuktobania on vacation when the war suddenly hit. Nobody ever figured out which side was responsible, but they were caught in the crossfire and only Annelise survived."

You wince. Yeah, something like that was sure to prime a young girl for recruitment into a group like OB.

"She was medically evacuated back to Belka. Her family had already made arrangements for her care in the event of their deaths. She was subsequently put under the care of an aunt and returned to the University of Dinsmark to finish her education."

"She must have met some interesting people there." You shake your head.

"Where she then secured an internship at Grunder Industries as a 'tech support assistant'." Uncle frowns. "And that's where her official record ends."

"That's only a couple of years, at most." You raise an eyebrow. "That's an extremely short time to pick up the flying skill she has now."

"There's many things we still don't know." Uncle points out. "No records of any medical issues or anything, either. Whatever... aggression she displays now was either well hidden or somehow instilled into her."

"Doesn't take much to explode when so much shit happens to you." You point out. "Believe me, I would know."

"I'm sure you think it'll be easier just to break into Grunder." You give a slight smirk.

"Both you and Karla are troublesome enough already." Uncle chuckles lightly. "Still, I'm a bit hesitant letting you meet Annelise in person. As I have said, she's not particularly stable at the moment. I'm not sure if it's because of the crash of if that's how she always is. She's a potential danger to you. "It might just provoke her more." You shake your head.

"All right, then you'll be alone in that room with her, then." Uncle cautions. "Security will by on standby outside. Just... be careful."

"I always am!" You boast.

"I'm sure that's what you always think." Uncle sighs.

He then leads you down the hall to another secure room. The two guards at the door salute and step aside to give the two of you space.

"Now, I must remind you to keep your distance." Uncle cautions you again. "Annelise is much stronger and faster than she would appear. She's been restrained, but it never hurts to be careful."

"I got it, Uncle." You nod.

"Then good luck." Uncle says as he opens the door.

You step inside, and you immediately see Annelise, or END, at the far side of the room. Unlike Erwin, she was much more heavily restrained, her arms and legs securely strapped to a chair with heavy leather straps. Her long pink hair was matted and knotted, a complete mess.

You also noticed a few bandages and an IV drip in her arm. She was also connected to a portable diagnostic machine, measuring her important vitals. Guess she had suffered some injuries from the crash, after all.

"Why 'END?'" You ask curiously. "There a story behind your name?"

If you weren't mistaken, even someone as tight lipped as END was being right now wouldn't be able to resist going off on a little rant to explain all the meanings and symbolism behind whatever they were doing. It would be a good way to butter her up.

"It means a lot of things." END says softly, still glowering at you. "It means I'll bring about the end of the current world order. The end of Belka's suffering and humiliation. The end of the long night of us stuck under Osea's boot. The end of betrayers and cowards like you!"

"Okay, so it literally means 'end'." You nod. "That's nice to know."

"I never would have imagined." You feign shock. "So you're saying you're letting them copy your flying ability?"

"Only the best." END confirms.

"Well, I guess I can't blame you on that, then." You shrug. "And if the drones don't perform, the drones can be thrown away and replaced pretty easily, right?"

"Exactly." END nods. "Better than having to worry about actual wingmates."

Yeah, you could definitely feel it. Annelise was a smart girl. She wouldn't have been able to pilot a plane like that if she wasn't. All she needed was a push in the right direction to get her to start connecting dots.

Annelise still remains silent, but you could also still sense the all too familiar signs of defiance. She still wasn't fully convinced, but the seeds of doubt were there.

"You know what? How about we take a break." You say simply as you stand up. "If you want to talk again, just give a holler, okay?"

Anne remains silent as you head for the door and rap on it to signal the guards to open it up. Anne's eyes continue to track you as the door closes behind you.

And outside, you're met by both Uncle and Bandit, who look to have been waiting for you.

"Excellent work there, Milly. Forming a rapport with the prisoner. Almost textbook." Uncle nods proudly. "She's grown quite a lot, hasn't she?"

"Well, we're kinda like, right?" You point out. "How can we NOT connect on some level."

"Still trying to one up Karla." Uncle chuckles. "Anyways, we still learned much valuable information. It certainly does confirm that Annelise here was the basis for their drone program."

"Even if she couldn't match Mihaly face to face with just raw skill, being able to pull extreme G maneuvers with a liquid cockpit setup will allow the drones to better exploit their inherent advantages." Bandit nods grimly. "From our past missions, it looks like they haven't rolled out any drones based on her flying data so far."

"Not yet, now." Uncle shakes his head. "Which is why this next plot Erwin alluded to is so concerning. Perhaps this will be the debut of those enhanced drones."

"I'm not afraid of them at all!" You boast. "Plus, I'm a pilot in the Belkan Air Force, which means I'm legally allowed to carry a sidearm, even off duty!"

"I-I see." Vicky nods. "So that just means sticking with you, right?"

"Definitely!" You nod.

Building on from this, perhaps she could change her nickname from END to Janus, the God of Beginnings and Endings?

Fortunately, you and Vicky are able to freely browse the store without being bothered or interrupted. The two of you were being low key enough that you apparently weren't attracting any attention all, whether it be from OB remnants or the general public.

Seems like nobody really recognized you, the Red Tail!

>You kind of prefer being anonymous.

Honestly, you sort of prefer having some measure of anonymity. You couldn't imagine what it would be like being constantly hounded by fans and the media 24/7. Sounded like a real stressful way to live.

"So we got everything, right?" Vicky asks, clutching quite a number of bags filled with new clothing. "If that's the case, I'll return to base to sort all this new stuff out..."

>Let Vicky return to base.

"Hey Vicky, you're always free to come over and crash at my place." You offer.

"G-go to your place?" Vicky's face start turning pink. "W-what for?"

"You now, just to hang out. And so you don't have to make the trip all the way back to base." You explain simply. "Is there something wrong with that?"

"No, n-not really." Vicky shakes her head quickly. "It just feels like it was so sudden..."

"Huh?" You frown, wondering what the heck she was getting all high strung about.

"It's nothing!" Vicky insists, her face getting redder and redder. "It's just an innocent sleepover and nothing else! Surely!"

"Um, yeah." You confirm. "What else could it be?"

"It's amazing how Milly can be so forward about these things...." Vicky mumbles to herself.

"Huh?" You blink, a bit confused now.

Sheesh, VIcky sure could be weird, sometimes.

>And that's it for tonight! As always, next thread will be on Friday, so don't miss it!

Thanks for the thread, boss.

Maybe we can also get a cool red scarf to increase our marketability to the kids, and to also have a 'red tail' even when not in a plane?
>>
>>4176796
thanks for the thread merc
wonder if we're missing some kind of cultural cue and causing vicky to be bewildered due to that?
>>

Thanks for running Merc!
