Recap of Part #1:

You are Trebol, a kobold who wished to go on an adventure. Going against your parents’ will, you secretly leave your home to explore the mysterious world outside the forest you grew up in. Tons of stuff happened to you the night you left...

First, you fell off a cliff. Then you saved a fairy from a pair of ill-intentioned humans. The brutes returned and beat you up badly, but you managed to escape by rolling into a river.

The river’s current dragged you for hours until you reached a gnoll tribe. You hoped they’d be merciful and give you medical aid, but the chieftain and her pack decided to eat you instead. You managed to injure the chieftain and roll again into the river, hoping you’d get away from there in time.

Then, out of nowhere, a troll grabbed you out of the water. Without losing hold of you, he rushed towards the gnoll tribe, bruising off all spear attacks with his super regeneration. He abducted a gnoll child and ran towards the mountains with you and the kid as the loot of his raid.
.
You lost consciousness and woke up in the troll’s cave, on the verge of death. With your last bit of strength and the gnoll kid’s help, you manage to recover a backpack on the other side of the cave: its contents were a bunch of alchemical ingredients, one of which was a weird flower that, upon consuming, invigorated you greatly. You and the boy leave the cave, avoiding awakening the troll from his slumber.

You no longer have any desire of adventuring. You just want to return home. Your current goal is to lead the child back to his tribe, hoping the gnolls forgive you and treat your wounds. You have less than 30 minutes before the flower’s invigorating effect wears off and you drop dead due to the tremendous strain your body has went through...
>>
Sorry for the extremely long hiatus. Now that I've got a bit more free time I should be able to do one update daily, or at most every 2 days.

You leave the cave and find yourself back in the forest. The dawn has ended. There’s plenty of daylight now, The sky is clear, and the sun shines brightly above you.

You hear a loud snoring that startles you and grabs your attention: it’s a goblin taking a nap on top of a very tall tree, near the cave entrance. The gnoll child’s nose twitches, and he covers his muzzle with his hand. “Eeeeugghh…” he says, pointing at the napping creature, clearly disgusted by the goblin’s smell. It impresses you that the kid is able to catch its scent from down here. No wonder your father calls gnolls “dog dudes”.

… Speaking of your father, your family must know by now that you left home. You can imagine how saddened and desperate they must be... just thinking about it immediately fills you with dread and regret. The Goddess has given you a new opportunity to live - you cannot let it go to waste. You’ll do your best to get through this nightmare and reunite with your kin.

You take a deep breath and refocus on your current task. You ask the gnoll child for directions. “Hey,” – you say, “can you lead us back to your home?

The boy avoids your gaze, and lightly shakes his head.

… What? Is he serious? You insist. “Come on, kid, you must remember how we got here!” Still avoiding your eyes, the gnoll shyly responds. “I… I don’t. I’m sorry…” he mutters, clearly embarrassed. Your blood is boiling with rage and desperation, but you know getting angry would not help the situation at all. It’s just not worth it. You keep your composure and begin to think…

You need to find your way back to the gnoll tribe. What do you do?

The goblin might know the lay of the land, but there's something shady about him, not even considering that he's sleeping next to a troll's lair for whatever reason. You doubt it's a good idea to establish a conversation with him, so you think of something else to do. The kid’s sense of smell may prove useful. He might be able to pick up the scent trail the troll left behind. If you follow it, it should lead you back to the tribe.

“Okay, listen up” you tell the boy. “You’re good at sniffing stuff, right?” The boy just stares at you. You continue talking. “Try picking up the troll’s scent around here. If we follow the scent trail, we may be able to return with your family very soon. I give you my word!”

The kid nods. He sniffs the air, moving his head in all directions. A few seconds pass by, and his nose eventually picks something. He walks towards a bunch of trees, sniffing the bushes with an uncomfortable look on his face. “I got it, Mister! The troll passed by here!” he exclaims, pointing at the direction.

“Excellent work!” – you say, relieved. There’s no time to waste. You’ll be constantly running from now on, and the kid will not be able to keep the pace, so you lift him up to carry him on your shoulders. It immediately comes to your mind that he’ll resist… but interestingly, he doesn’t. Your big head gets on the way of your shoulders, though, so the boy ends up sitting on top of you instead, using your horns as grab bars. It’s not comfortable for you, but your broken left arm impedes you from giving him a simple piggyback.

Before setting off, you grab a big rock near the cave entrance to use as a weapon, just in case. You wonder if you should go back to the cave and grab the troll's pouch and its contents, but quickly dismiss the idea as you *really* don't want to go back in there. Besides, retrieving a few laxative seeds and tea herbs isn't your top priority at the moment.

The kid continues to pick up the scent trail while you follow his indications...

(…)

You’ve been running for several minutes. Your speed is unreal - it could easily match a leopard’s. That flower you ate sure had powerful effects on you, though you should be careful with how fast you go, as you might bump onto something.

The gnoll kid suddenly stops giving you directions. “What’s wrong?” you ask, fearing you already know the answer. “I… I lost the scent trail… I’m sorry…” he mutters. “That isn’t good news” you say. You think of what to do… You don't recognize your surroundings, but you're certainly close to the tribe – you’ve ran several kilometers by now. You could try showing the kid an object he’s familiar with, perhaps an aromatic flower or an edible mushroom, so he can trace its smell back to his home. It might not work, but you can’t think of anything else to do at the moment.

You search for one of these items. You find a mushroom, and crouch to pick it u-

“BOO!!! Hahahaha!”

You hear a high-pitched voice, and a goblin that was hiding behind a bush jumps and immediately lunges towards you, wielding a dangerous sharp tool! You dodge the attack thanks to your incredible agility and reflexes, and the goblin falls on the grass. Another three goblins immediately appear from behind the trees and bushes surrounding you. You have been ambushed!

You are completely surrounded by four of these creatures, including the bald guy whose attack you just dodged. All of them wield sharp weapons. The bald goblin steps forward, and speaks in a rude, condescending tone. “A kobold and a gnoll hangin’ out together? Hah! What’s next, a scholar troll?”

“Why are you naked?” says the female goblin, giving you a disgusted look. “Did you abduct that kid from the tribe to the east?"

“You have one twisted mind, kobold.” the yellow-haired goblin adds in. “If you don’t want to get hurt, hang him over. We’ll take *good* care of him and make sure he never interacts with weird folks like you again!”

“Y-yes, hehehehe… w-we’ll, like, *eat* him, t-to make sure h-he’s not e-exposed to the d-dangers of t-this world anymore, hehehehe!” says the goblin with half of his skull smashed in.

Goblins are cowardly sadists. If you show any sign of helplessness, they’ll be more than happy to make you suffer for it, as they love instilling fear on their victims. You *must* sound confident when talking to them.

One of the thieves said the tribe is to the east... that’s good to know. Fortunately, your father has taught you to use the position of the sun and the current time of the day as references for general orientation, so you know very well that the east is clearly on *that* way, right past the dumb goblin. You quickly improvise an escape plan…

“Hey, you!” – you tell the idiot. “Do you, uh... do you know what time it is?” The other three goblins stare at you with a confused look on their faces. The goblin answers your question in his own, special way: “Urrggghhh… mom?”.

As soon as you notice he’s distracted, you throw the rock at him so hard he’s knocked off his feet and falls to the ground, stunned by the impact. You immediately take the opportunity and run past him, leaving the whole group behind with your super speed! The thieves shout many insults and curses as they try to go after you, but you gradually stop hearing them as you get further and further away. Phew! That was much easier than expec-

“Whoah!!!” – you shout. You almost fall off a cliff again!

You were going so fast that you didn’t see the open space behind the bushes. You managed to stop in time, just a few centimeters away from a big chasm extending before you. You cannot allow yourself to make stupid mistakes like these again - you fell off another cliff just a few hours ago, and were fortunate to not end up with bigger injuries. You promise yourself to be more careful in the future.

You take a moment to analyze your surroundings. You have a good view from here, and quickly notice something near the horizon that brings you hope and relief: it’s the gnoll tribe! Finally! It shouldn’t take too long to get there now.

While you feel a bit more relieved, the gnoll kid is weeping, evidently stressed out by everything you've both gone through. “Don’t be sad, little one” – you reassure him. “The tribe is over there, see? You’ll soon be able to see your mother again.” The kid wipes his tears off. “O-okay…” he responds.

As you turn around to search a path to the tribe…

… May the Goddess have mercy on you.

Unbelievably, you are once again completely surrounded by armed goblins, and cornered with no good escape routes. They all emerged from the bushes around you. There are six, perhaps seven of them...

You just got yourself into an even more dangerous situation than the previous one.

These goblins ones don’t bother to chat with you – they are approaching with clearly murderous intentions.

You're doing your best to survive, but the odds against you are too great this time. You simply cannot see any plausible way to get out of this encounter alive.

You briefly close your eyes and focus your entire being into your next course of action, what might be the last decision you ever make.

Whatever you choose to do now… you’ll fully commit to it with all your soul, hoping another miracle saves you.

I've been thinking about it and, yeah, I think I'll use different roll system from now on. I understand the problem with rolls averaging out to numbers close to the middle the more of them there are.

Also the timegate to input a roll or a choice / write-in will always be 20 hours after an update has been posted.

As for the current rolls, only this time, I'll pick 3 of them at random with this website https://www.random.org/lists/ and take the average of them.

ROLLS: 88, 11, 65 = 55

The gnoll kid lets out a scream! “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!”

You attempt to lodge the sharp tool into the cliff face, but it turns out it’s no easy task when you’re in the middle of a freefall! You can barely keep hold of your weapon, let alone aim precisely and apply enough force into the dirt surface!

You lose focus and instinctively look down – you’re halfway between the top of the cliff and the ground awaiting you at the bottom, ready to break your spine into pieces when you come in contact with it!

“Aaaarrrgghh!!! DAMN IT!!!” – you shout! You’re way too terrified - you cannot focus in your current state!

You only have a few seconds left before it’s too late... All your efforts will be in vain if you die here - you cannot allow this! “Enough!” – you tell yourself. This moment is crucial, and you will NOT give up!

In a sudden rush of extra adrenaline, you manage to overcome your terror and *focus* on what must be done; you adjust the grip on your weapon, making sure it's aiming at the cliff face horizontally, and then stab the sharp tool into the dirt as hard as you can, hoping this time your plan works!

Your perseverance pays off: you can feel the weapon getting lodged into the cliff face so profoundly that half the blade disappears from your vision!

The speed at which gravity is bringing you down begins to diminish, but there's not enough time for it to-

"Woah... I'm still alive" - you think.

The goblins on the cliff were observing you while you were unconscious, but they're gone now.

You check your mobility. One limb at a time…

Your left arm is broken and heavily bruised ever since that brutish human kicked you hours ago. Your right arm is wounded, but you can still move it… same for your right leg. Your left leg, however, is completely mangled.

You search for a stick to use as a crutch, but unfortunately, you find nothing. You'll have to resort to crawling.

Looks like your plan worked… kind of. “Well, it didn’t end up as bad as it could have…” – you reassure yourself.

The boy! You must check on him! You quickly crawl towards him to assess his state, hoping he survived the fall...

He’s still breathing! Thank Gaia! You observe your surroundings to see if there’s anything useful to tend to his injuries… but all you see is a bunch of ordinary flowers and Gybia mushrooms, which are used exclusively for meals.

All you can do is hope that his wounds aren’t anything too major or life-threatening, and get to the tribe as fast as you can. It’s fairly close from your current position. Maybe the gnolls saw your fall, and they’re coming to investigate… but you cannot rely on that possibility. You need to get to the tribe on your own.

You attempt to carry the gnoll kid on your head, but it’s too uncomfortable. You put him on your back instead, and then begin your painful crawl towards the tribe…

The beefy gnoll in front of you interrupts you, speaking in a most furious tone. “You’ve got some *guts* to come back after what you did to our leader…”

“Galburgo, take the boy” – the gnoll orders. He says this without taking his eyes off of you. The fat gnoll on the left grabs the boy off your back and holds him in his arms. He proceeds to lick his wounds. “Kyru, wake up…” - he gently whispers, but the kid is unresponsive.

You try to reason with the gnolls again. “I know… w-where the troll's cave is… I saved the kid… and I need your h-"

You suddenly hear a thundering female voice that, once again, interrupts you as everyone directs their attention to the gnoll mother that attempted to kill you a while ago, when you were trying to escape on the river. She runs to his wounded son and quickly takes him away from the fat gnoll’s arms. “KYRUUU!!! My sweet child!" - she yells, sobbing. "Mom is here again, sweetheart… please wake up! WAKE UP!!!”

Kyru reacts to her mother’s voice, slowly opening his eyes. Her mom seems greatly relieved, and smiles. “Ohhh… by the gods… thank you, thank you so much… my little Kyru, I thought I lost you forever…”

You see dozens of gnolls arriving to the scene. The entire tribe has been alerted, and yet, you don’t see their leader anywhere...

You do a third attempt to communicate. “I… need your help… please, let me talk to the ch-“

The lean, short gnoll on the right interrupts your sentence, giving you a deranged look. “T’is lizar’ looks deliciousssss… I can’t wait two eat it… I love the sssspicy taste of koboldssssss… hmmmmmmm!!!”

“Kyru is hurt, and you’re worried about filling your stomach?” – the fat gnoll grunts, giving him a look of disappointment and disgust. “You’re beyond help, Bulzaba.” The hungry gnoll ignores his words, as if he didn’t even hear them. All of his attention is put on you, as he salivates over the idea of you being his lunch...

Your heart is filled with dread as you realize nobody is interested in what you have to say.

“Let’s get rid of this vermin!” – the beefy gnoll vociferates. You can feel the wrath in his eyes, piercing through your soul…

As you become increasingly desperate, you speak again. “L-listen, please… the troll’s cave… I know where to fi-“

Your words are interrupted one last time, this time not by a voice, but by a sudden kick in your face that sends you flying many meters away.

The powerful blow violently shakes your head. Everything looks dark and blurry. You can barely hear or see anything, except a bunch of blobs approaching you with their pointy, sharp sticks.

The kick has broken your jaw. You have lost your ability to speak, deposing you of all means to reason with the gnolls, and with it, what little control you still had over your destiny.

You are powerless and helpless. Not even the flower’s magic can keep you going at this point. You are tired, *too* tired, both physically and mentally. You felt close to death back in the troll’s cave… but now, you’re feeling its cold embrace directly.

And yet, despite everything…

You have not lost your faith.

You *never* will.

Even if you are fated to perish here, it comforts you that, someday, you will reunite with your father, mother and brothers in the afterlife.

You close your eyes, and your consciousness begins to fade away…

Your last thoughts are of your family.

You are Trebol, a humble son of Mother Earth.

You have a peaceful life in the forest with your loved ones. You know nothing about the world outside, and you don’t need to.

You’re more than satisfied with what you’ve got.

Your family is waiting for you at the bonfire. Mom has prepared your favorite meal: rabbit steak with Gybia mushrooms. They’re all waving their hands for you to come over, except for Bombo, your middle brother, who already finished his plate and fell asleep. Classic of Bombo!

“Come, Trebol! The food is getting cold!” – your mother Lambana says.

“Hey, if you don’t want it, I’ll gladly eat it for you. Just saying.” – says Yerko, your youngest brother.

“Big brother!” – your sister Pinturi says, staring at you with begging eyes. “After we finish eating, will you keep teaching me to draw as good as you do?! Pleeeease?!”

“Trebol and I will be busy today, Pinturi” – Father says. “I’ll take him to the hunting grounds and continue training him.” He looks at you. “What are you waiting for, son? Come and sit with us.”

You don’t know why, but it makes you more happy than ever to see all your family reunited here. You’re blissful to know that you’ll enjoy another day alive with the people you care about.

You run to sit with them...

... but you stop, as you suddenly notice something is wrong.

There’s a monster right behind your family, stalking them. Waiting to ambush them at the right moment, and only you are aware of it.

You try to scream to warn them of the imminent attack… but no sound comes out of your mouth. You are voiceless.

The monster stands up, revealing itself. It is a giant black blob, a terrifying abomination you cannot describe with words alone. Before they could react, the creature grabs your entire family with a single hand, clenching his tentacle-like fist to stop them from escaping.

They shriek in pain, surprised by the unexpected attack. Your father tries to fight back, but to no avail. The monster is too powerful.

The demon begins to walk towards you.

The monster is approaching. Its size is immense - you are like a bug to him.

You kneel and pray, but nothing happens.

You yell to the red sky, calling the Goddess for help, but She does not come to your aid.

You are experiencing pure torment. The demon is attempting to destroy everyone you care about, those that give a purpose to your existence… and you are too weak to protect them!

The frustration you feel is tremendous… you *cannot* bear it!

You CANNOT!

You… you…

You rush towards the beast, intending to bite its leg with your sharp teeth! But before you can get close, the monster hits you on the torso with its tentacle arm, sending you flying across the hellish red nothingness around you!

You stand up, bleeding profusely but otherwise unfazed by the attack, and charge again towards the giant creature!

Your mother yells! “Trebol, NOOO!!!”

The demon lifts its foot up, preparing to squash you like a worm!

You gather all your strength and wrestle with the beast’s foot, doing your best to stand your ground!

The demon is incredibly powerful – you are fighting with everything you’ve got to save your family… and yourself! You will NOT lose! You have FAITH!

You have been taken to your absolute limit! But, rather than being stopped there, you manage to surpass them, going beyond own strength with pure wrath alone!

Something primal awakens within you!

You hear a voice in your head, one which you cannot describe with words... It is neither masculine nor feminine, it just is a "voice". And yet, you know exactly who is speaking.

“TREBOL, MY CHAMPION… I AM PROUD OF YOU.”

You feel a mysterious energy flowing through your body… Out of instinct, you do your best to channel it all into your heart. You *know* this power… you’ve always had it, every kobold has it, but only *you* have learned to awaken it. It is the power of the long-extinct dragons, the first beings to be created by Gaia!

You hear the voice again. “LET YOUR FURY SMITE THE EVIL THAT STANDS BEFORE YOU!!!”

As the Goddess finishes speaking, your body begins to shape into a new form! You grow wings on your back, your snout becomes bigger, your horns become larger, and you feel, much, MUCH stronger than before!

No foe or enemy shall stand in your path! You will use this power to protect everyone you love!

The beast swings its tentacle arms at you, but you easily dodge them with your draconian reflexes and speed, using your wings to fly towards the beast in a frontal attack!

You find yourself face to face with the abomination! “Take this! RRRAAAAAAWWWWRRRRRRR!!!” – you shout, launching a giant blue fireball from your mouth onto the beast’s face!

The demon is set on fire, letting out a thunderous scream that fills the red nothingness around you with its sound! You almost think you’ve got this battle won… but it is too early to celebrate; the demon shrieks, turning the hellish environment into an infinite, colorless emptiness! It has transformed, just like you did; not only its power has risen, it has also grown an eye in its torso and even more tentacle arms! Its aura is unfathomably evil, the pressure it exerts over you is immense… you can hardly believe it, but it seems that it even surpasses your own powers!

>>
>>4165461
Haha, YESSSS. We done did it!

But honestly, I think the REAL dragon was the friends we made along the way...

Because, much like the dragon, their aid was a fleeting and half-imagined thing which briefly distracted us for the insufferable pain of the world beyond our family.
>>
>>4165647
fairy lady and gnoll kid
nevah forget!
>>
>>4165461
We're gonna be kinda fucked if our jaw remains broken. Hopefully the gnoll kid can do the talking for us for now, but our first priority should be healing up our wounds and making friends with the locals.

Even though we saved the kid, gnolls are gnolls, they'll probably still try and eat us at the first opportunity.
