Walking through the gray alleys of the city you hear the marching of a large group. Swiftly you and you party duck into a vacant building and hide.
The sound of feet stomping in ranks grows closer and a squadron of about two dozen skeletal soldiers advance past your position.
Alina whispers to you "they're looking for us". You frown behind your helmet, they look like they're marching headfirst into battle, not searching for a hiding party of adventurers.
What to do?

You take the back exit a slink around the marching band of skeletons.
After darting through a few alleys you're satisfied with the distance.
In the distance you see some military structure, adjacent to the city wall.
"Hmm" you think out loud, "looks like the signal came from that building."
The sound of another squadron rings in the distance. Followed by another!
Throngs of marching skeletons suddenly become audible. They're marching towards the same building as you!
Alina worriedly tugs your shoulder "These streets are crawling with undead! It's not safe, maybe we should just wait for the sun to come back up."
Shawel shakes her head, "If that's the Duke's base, then our allies are under attack, we should help them"
Ulric points to a fenced area off to the side, unlike most of the city it's lined with trees and has grass growing. "What about that place? It looks secluded."
"Ulric, I think that's a graveyard." responds Alina, "A graveyard inside an undead city must be DOUBLE haunted."
You observe the area contemplatively, it looks like it is actually a graveyard, you think you can see some headstones. "Actually, undead instinctively avoid holy ground including graveyards, but these skeletons are much smarter than normal."
Ulric asks "Can the Spartoi go through the graveyard? How long does it last anyway?"
"I honestly don't remember. I doubt it will refuse to follow us."
One of the marching armies of skeletons becomes visible in a paralell street.
Better make a decision fast.

You decide the graveyard is the best route, the skeletal soldiers do seem to be avoiding it after all.
The creaky old gates are locked, not wanting to vandalize a resting ground you climb through a space in the fence and drop down onto the soft grass.
Quietly you trudge past rows and rows of headstones, and the odd crypt. Soon you start hearing soft wailing and moaning.
Ghosts start appearing out of thin air and flying around, wailing at a whispering volume. They chill you and make your hairs stand on end as they fly past you but they don't seem to be attacking you.
Ulric puts his hand out blocking the path of one of the spirits. It flies straight through his hand.
He jolts his hand back to his chest, "That's freezing!" he exclaims. Shawel angrily grabs Ulric by the shoulder and pulls him back, she whispers through her teeth "don't startle the spirits, they can be very dangerous if you make them angry"
Seems like Shawel is right, these ghosts aren't part of some malicious skeleton hive mind. They probably wont harm you as long as you don't startle them.
Some of these ghosts might have information about what's going on here, although trying to question one of them might not be worth the risk.
You tap Alina's arm, "Alina, cast Protection from Evil on the party before we move any further." She nods and begins casting the spell.

>Are ghouls with shovels real?
Of course they're real! But if I actually made one appear in this quest the entire party would be killed in a flash!

To start off, you cast Resist Energy[cold] on everyone. You notice your Potion of Greater Sorcery has worn off.
You pull out a clutch of candles from your pack. "I'm going to, light a few candles to try and appease the spirits. Pass me that torch Ulric."
You light all your remaining candles and place them along the path and in front of some head stones.
The ghosts seem to react to this and start giving you a wider bearth. The area seems warmer, and brighter. The energy of this place no longer feels eerie and chilling, but a more peaceful kind of haunting.
Resisting the urge to give one of the ghosts a headpat, you briskly follow the path through the burial mound, taking care not to touch any of the spirits.

>You gain 1000 XP for navigating through the graveyard peacefully.
>You now have 81960

Emerging from the other side of the graveyard you can see the base up ahead! A horde of skeletal soldiers are sieging the building. Some normal humans and a large amount of summon creatures are holding the line. Behind them are what looks like some of the orcish siege weapons from Clarcton. A pair of bolt-throwers and a catapult are devastating the ranks of undead.
From behind the enemy lines you could probably assassinate some of their supporting units. There are a few skeleton wizards spread out at the back.
On top of a nearby building there is a squadron of crossbow skeletons. Just entering the battle now on horseback is a heavily armoured horseman. The skeletal horse is also quite heavily armoured. Looks like he's about to charge right through the battle.
Assuming these skeletons have some sort of collective conciousness, as soon as you attack the entire army will know you're there.
Sparta is still trailing along and ready to Self-Destruct at your order.

King of Uthain has more combat experience and comes from a culture that holds honour and military in high esteem (Christof even claims the Uthainian army is the greatest in the world), the orc uprising was the Archdukes first time leading an army and fighting.
Also the king probably has a suit of terminator armour or something ez win.
Archduke is the superior dancer though.

You almost knock a piece of loose rubble off the side of the building, but quickly catch it before it makes a cacophany.
You climb up a ladder into one of the turrets, after the top rung and glass bottle smashes against your helmet, its liquid contents splashing everywhere.
"Eat holy water beast!" you look up to see a lone guard wearing Oakheart livery.
"Oh... you're not a skeleton" he offers you his hand and pulls you up. The rest of your team follow.
You look around, a cleanish interior with freshly lit torches. "I take it this is Archduke Lockridge's forward base?" you ask.
The guard nods. "That's right, I was told some reinforcements were coming, most of the expedition has abandoned the mission."
"Do you know where I can find the Duke?"
He gestures down a hall. "That way, then turn left. I'd take you but I gotta guard this entrance."
"You have my thanks, let's go."

You see him, the Archduke of Aflor with two of his captains at his side. Captain Blackyard and Captain Oakheart.
Both captains glance at you as you approach, the archduke staring intently out of an arrowslit, watching the battle. He's tightly clutching a high level magic scroll in his hand.
Blackyad speaks "Your highness, your reinforcements are here."
He snaps out of his trance and spins around.
"Christof! You're here. I know we have a lot to discuss but we're under siege. You seen to be in fighting shape, can you and your men support my troops?

You ask "Can you tell me the situation, your highness?" giving a meaningful nod to the scroll.
Oakheart harumphs in your direction. "What's the situation!? We're under attack!"
Ignoring his subordinate the archduke replies "We've been here for a while now, and we've taken a lot of casualties. Some got badly hurt, some deserted, and a few deaths. But we've reduced the enemy down to one commander, once we destroy him the skeletons will stop fighting like a unified army and their combat skills will plummet to a normal level. Our supplies are running low too, I had a few high level scrolls at the start. This is one of my last ones."
"What's it do?" Inquires Ulric.
"Makes a big cloud of acid fog! The Area of Effect is massive. Anyway, I can give you a full briefing after the undead retreat. They usually run away when their wizards start to become vulnerable."
You look out the window, looks like the guards will win this fight but they might suffer some losses.
"Alright, we'll help you hold the fort lets go."
Blackyard steps forward "Your ranged attackers can use the arrow slits up here."
"Then Ulric and Alina, stay up here and use your ranged attacks, Shawel and umm Spartoi, come with me."
You hustle down the stairs ready to join the fight.

You emerge onto the battlefield. Prepared to give support using your Protection spells and Shawel's control spells. Hordes of skeletons are pouring in trying to break through a barrier of palisades. On the front lines are a line of summoned warriors. Catarian mercenaries stand a bit behind summoning reinforcements. A handful of guards from various townships are making up the second line of defence, mostly letting the summons act as shields. Most of the damage is coming from three siege machines, they're definitely the same contraptions the orcs were using in Clarcton.
Suddenly the guards' line breaks. The horseman you saw earlier has charged through the crowd and his heading straight for the catapult. The weapons' crews rush forward to defend them. The guards at the front line simply try to close the gap in their formation to stop any more skeletons from bustling in.

You get ready to cast Immunity to Weapons[Hacking], but the enemy starts attacking ferociously before you can think and

you end up defending yourself with your weapon. Without any way to do damage, Shawel shys away from the fight.
You Power Attack the Death Knight for 22 damage.
Sparta Power Attacks the Death Knight for 11 damage, the bladed weapon is less effective.
Death Knight attacks Sparta for 12 damage, cutting a gash in a few ribs.

You prepare to counter a heavy attack, but the Death Knight is opening with a very simple and balanced attack pattern. An opportunity never comes.
Sparta Power Attacks Death Knight for 21 damage.
Death Knight hacks a chunk off Sparta's skull for 16 damage.

You Flurry the Death Knight, but both of your two attacks fail to hit.
Sparta attacks, hitting for 10 damage.
Death Knight hits Sparta back for 8 damage.
Shawel throws Holy Water at Death Knight, the blessed liquid sizzles like potent acid on the undead monster doing 30 damage.

You make a standard attack on the Death Knight but foolishly miss.
Sparta attacks and misses too.
With a horizontal swipe the Death Knight hits Sparta for 17 damage, taking off his head. The last Spartoi collapses and starts disintegrating as its dragon fire leaks out of its bones.

The Death Knight turns its empty eyesockets to you. You're next.

Severely injured you stagger backwards, bumping Shawel.
You take a split second to glance back at her, she looks extremely tense but says nothing.
Despite severe signs of damage to the bones, and compactions to its armour, the Death Knight is still fighting fiercely. You can't tell if it can take 1 more hit or 100.

>>4159417
give shawl the ring +10 instead of the undershirt , give christof the spicky armour
>>
>>4159417
Chistof should definitely be wearing the thorned armor
If Alina is going to keep spellcasting, she should take the +10 ring.

Give Shawel the +5 ring and offer her Iron armor and a sword.

>>4159678
>I thought he could duel wield
Pretty sure you can't dual wield two-handed weapons unless you are a giant, have four hands, or both.
>>
>>4160306
she mainly does archery, also >>4159668 said that the sword was 1 handed

Not sure how we missed that.
He's definitely wielded two swords before. Ulric likes swords. Let's give him a Golden sword in his off hand

>>4160641
>she mainly does archery
But also does abjuration like a boss, hence the stylish green robes.
Her role is to hang back and sling arrows and magic. If she's likely to get a skelly up in her grill, then have her armor up, iron preferably. If any skellies gotta get through a wall of beefcake made of Christof and Ulric with a Shawel seasoning, then she might be cool to cast spells in her robe.
Savvy?

I think the ring and robe combo is good.

Okay this looks like a good loadout. You'll rearrange the equipment next time you meet your party.

Some guards inform you where the Archduke's quarters are. You make your way there and the two men standing by the door let you pass. You step inside.

"Christof. Well fought! All the other adventurers in this expedition have already jumped ship but *you*, I can rely on. Wine?"
He pours a nice looking vintage into a goblet in his other hand.

Without knowing the extent of the situation, it would be premature for Christof to celebrate with libations.
Arch Dukes can do as they like, however.

"Your pardon, but I must decline."
"Alright then."
He takes the goblet he just filled for himself.
"I'll try to give you a quick run down. There is a large number of undead warriors in this city. Normally they would just mill around aimlessly attacking any living thing that gets too close but they're under the control of some powerful skeleton wizards."
"My party has engaged several skeleton wizards already."
"These ones are different from the regular spell casters, their magic is extremely powerful. I call them 'Liches', anyway there are four liches that issue commands to the rest of the undead. One lich can only command a certain amount at once, but the ones that are being controlled have really good combat skills, they're expert fighters. Right now there's only one Lich currently 'alive' once he's destroyed the skeletons will all stop fighting as a unified army and their combat skills will plummet back to normal. Then we can fight our to the palace and secure the Wish Granter. Get the idea?"

We'll need to assemble a team... preferably with at least one faceless expendable extra to die immediately to set up how dangerous the encounter will be.

Hey, I'm plenty romantic!
There are a couple romances that I am secretly shipping.
But there are undead to genocide right now. Priorities man!

We can hold hands and drink wine after the day is won.

"Excellent. Precisely what I was about to ask for."
"Do we know it’s exact position?"
"Don't you worry about that Christof. I have a magic scroll that will locate its current position, once we move out."
"Our team could use a fith member, is there anyone you could spare to help us?"
"Yes, me! I'll come with you personally! Once the Lich is ditched we can head straight for the Wish Granter and restore our kingdoms to their former MAJESTY!"
Grinning he reaches out and grabs hold of a crown that exists only in his mind.
"Are you sure your grace? This could be a very dangerous battle."
"There's no need for concern. I have golden armour, a powerful magic heirloom, a horse and a GUN. Trust me."

Finally we met Rohan

>"I don't think that's a good idea" (persuade)
"The troops need their commander..."

Also ask about the wish granter of this city and what he knows so far.

OK I'm going to break things down a bit. Remember the last wish granted we faced? We DON'T need this guy mudding up our wishes, this wish granter could be more powerful and more evil then the last. Look at how the entire city is skeletons. What we need is to beeline to the wish granter and dodge the lich completely while it's distracted by this army.
>>

Might go bad but it's not nice to refuse a monarch

You are totally correct.
However, look at that smile. Just fucking LOOK at it. As he is grasping at an imaginary crown and saying the words "There's no need for concern. I have golden armour, a powerful magic heirloom, a horse and a GUN. Trust me."
And you want to "persuade" him?
With what? Logic?
We'd need at least 100 to even...
*references character sheet*
Oh.
Yeah, fuck it.
Let's persuade him.

But double down on the "Your men *need* you" aspect. Maybe touch on the chance of deadly traps and such. Deadly gas, maybe. Offering to brave the risk and "make the way safe" and such.
We can't piss him off now.

>>4166690
>"I think that's a 'fine' idea. But the troops need their commander and your people need their leader..." (persuade)
Sorry to tie it up Dolomite.

>What we need is to beeline to the wish granter and dodge the lich completely while it's distracted by this army.
Yeah, no. Hard fucking pass.
These guys multitask like a beholder giving out giving handjobs in Bangkok.
I don't trust them skellies to be "distracted" until the lich is dust.

I'm agreeable to "handling" the archduke if it comes to it, while still honoring our agreement (that I should go read over again).

You hesitate for a second. And manage to reply.
>"I don't think that's a good idea."
Without even a hint of surprise at your response. The Archduke's tone and face goes from jubilant to ice cold seriousness.
"Why is that Christof? Could it be you don't want me to be present when the Djinn is awakened?"
