Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 1 means a critical failure (only for Very Hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

“I’ll ask if I can. Again, it’s their privacy…” You make it painfully clear it’s not your call. You pull your phone out.
“Y-Yeah, I’m not going to hold it against you.” Scarlet nervously smiles, she didn’t think you would do the call immediately. It’s a team meeting, what else can you do but address your team’s concerns?

You move to a corner of the room and dial Nina’s number! You don’t know how happy she’s going to be upon hearing this news.

“Hello? Johnny?” That’s Nina’s voice.
“Yeah, it’s me. Are you busy right now?”

“I was waiting for your call, we really need to talk – you saw my messages, right?” Nina sounds a little bit worried.
“I did, but there’s something else I need to talk about…” You glance at Scarlet for a second.

“Is something wrong? How are you feeling?” Now Nina sounds really worried! Fantastic…
“I’m doing fine, it’s just… well… I’ll be brief…” You start explaining what’s going on to Nina without going into any details.

“Y-You’re teaming up with your classmate Scarlet? She knows everything about the flames? And you’re asking for permission to tell her about us because you respect our privacy…?” Nina sounds a little dumbfounded.
“Yeah…”

“I’m very confused on so many levels right now, another one of my students involved in all of this? Not to look down on her or anything, but why her?” Nina sounds troubled. “You’re doing your own thing so I can’t exactly scold you for this, and I do appreciate your concern about The Motley Crew… you’re still welcomed anytime by the way, uhm…There’s no point in crying over spilled milk, right? I’ll have to tell everyone not to divulge any information to normal people. Still…”
“Believe me, Scarlet won’t tell anyone, she knows how important this is.”

“Well I believe we shouldn’t talk about this over the phone. Johnny, the 3 of us need to meet up as soon as possible. Are you two free right now? If so, let’s meet up somewhere privately. Your place, my place – I don’t mind where.”

“Well, I have a new cool base I would love to show you, so come over! I’ll send you the address…” You shout loud enough for Scarlet to notice and start preparing.
“Understood! I’ll be there as soon as I can. Take care!” Nina sounds a little bit excited. Maybe she’s lonely?
“See ya soon.” There isn’t much to do but wait now. Which is fine, since Scarlet looks a bit tired from moving stuff.

You inform Scarlet how the call went and what the plans are now. She seems pumped up for no good reason but maybe you’re confusing her anxiousness for eagerness .

“A teacher coming over to this place, this is going to be freaky.” Scarlet looks tense. Maybe she thinks she’s going to get scolded or something?
“Yeah, sorry about that – but I thought it was fair that she gets to know about this place, like exchanging information.”

“I’m not complaining!” Scarlet wryly smiles. “It’s just… when has a teacher coming over ever been a good thing?”
“You’re right. But when you come over to their place, that’s when things get magical.” You adjust your glasses.

“W-What…?” Scarlet looks visibly confused. Why did you say that?!
“F-Forget about it… You didn’t get the reference… I-It was from a show I saw on TV…” You give a panic response! You shouldn’t go deeper into this!

“Mmm… What show? I can search for it on my phone!” Scarlet looks intrigued for no reason.
“L-Let it go, the joke is dead…” This is getting awkward. “Want something to drink in the meantime?”
“Sure!” Scarlet ignores what happened too. What a good girl.

Eventually, after another call from Nina (she needed way more instructions to get here on her own.), you hear her knocking outside the door. You instructed her to call you once she got to the building so you could wait outside for her – but you know she has that strange sense of pride sometimes. You invite Nina inside and she seems enchanted, almost hypnotized by your little cool base! Of course, your base is the best and that should be the natural response, but Nina seems a little too infatuated with it! She just can’t stop giving you two compliments!

“Ms. Uccelli, y-you really seem to like this place. A little too much…” Scarlet is a little bit uncomfortable with your teacher’s reaction.
“I-I’m sorry. Since I was little, I always dreamed about having a secret base. I know it’s silly, but lately, I can’t help it. I-I mean it’s no different than having your own room or apartment at this point, and… Uhm… I’m talking nonsense…” Nina blushes a little bit. “It’s nice to see you doing well, Ms. Argyle.”

“Yeah, yeah, just call me Scarlet! We’re out of school, remember?” Scarlet winks at your teacher. There’s something off about her but you can’t put your finger on it…
“We’re here for a reason.” You bring everyone back into the real discussion at hand. “We’re in no rush though.”
“Oh, before I forget. I brought a very special dessert for you!” Nina goes for her bag.

“T-That can wait! I really want to hear from you all!” Scarlet wants answers!

And you’re ready to give them, unless Nina thinks otherwise… Maybe you need to get those two comfortable with each other before you can dive into the important stuff, or they are going to hold on to some information... You trust them enough not to be petty, but you can all be friends here, right?

“Meh, be patient, Scarlet. Let’s eat something first, we’re taking things easy today, remember?” You pat Scarlet on the back to calm her down.
“I’m not going anywhere either, Scarlet.” Nina smiles at your redhead companion.

“Fiiiiine, but I’m not moving a muscle from now on. I’m really tired…” Scarlet pouts as she sits near the kotatsu. You can’t believe you have a kotatsu in here! It’s awesome!
“Hehe, you’re going to change that mood of yours once you see what I have in here…” A cheeky Nina starts dragging out stuff from her bag, 2 tightly packed boxes. You’re intrigued. “Can you heat up some water? These go great with a cup of tea.” Nina smiles at you.

You go for the plates, the cups, and all the other stuff to turn your Kotatsu into a dinner table. With everything ready, Nina starts opening the snacks…

“Ta-dah! It’s lemon pie! I made it myself, I followed my mom’s recipe but I’m not even close to being as good as her at cooking. A-Anyway, enjoy!” Nina cheerfully presents her pie to both of you. You can attest she’s not that great a cook.
“Y-You made it for us…?” Scarlet is surprised.

“Hey, I can’t look into the future! I was making it and wondered ‘why not?’ This is a happy coincidence, that’s all.” Nina chuckles nervously.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you could. Johnny can turn invisible!” Scarlet is not joking.

“I-If I could do that, there wouldn’t be anything to worry about, r-right…? For better or worse I mean.” Nina gets a little bit gloomy.
“That power would be busted.” Nobody likes that kind of power anyway.

“Well, if you didn’t do this for us. What were you making a pie for…?” Scarlet awkwardly chuckles.
“…” Nina silently takes a sip of her tea as she looks away ashamed. Scarlet starts panicking…

“What’s in the other box?” You ask Nina to break the awkward silence.
“Oh, this is… I didn’t make this one, but I needed to share it with someone else apart from my roommate! It’s so good it’s going to change your lives!” Nina gets really excited about this one!

Nina opens the little box and from it sprinkles something 8 times its size…

“Wooooah!” Scarlet is in awe, reminds you of the time she ate all that ice cream by herself at Jackey Frosties.

It has been out of your reach more than a couple of times, but it’s finally in front of you, and no one is going to stop you from experiencing what Kata’s really big muffin tastes like! No one is going to rob you of this!

…But still, it’s better to eat small portions slowly so they get to enjoy their desserts without guilt. You’ll have to play along so they don’t insist you eat more than necessary. And you’re doing this only because you have a bad gut feeling.

You were so submerged in your thoughts that you just noticed that Nina has a kitchen knife in her hands and waiting to serve a slice.

“Which one, Johnny?” Nina’s tender voice demands an answer.
“Eerr… The muffin?” You want to sound as nonchalant as possible.

“Don’t be shy or you’re going to regret it later!” Nina giggles as she gives you a normal slice for the size of that thing. “And you, Scarlet?”
“Muffin too, please!” Scarlet looks more happy to receive a piece than you. “Juuust a little piece though, I don’t want to completely ruin my figure again.”

“Again…? Were you out of shape when you were little or something? Because in all of these years as your teacher I’ve never seen you look anything but slim.” Nina looks quite surprised at Scarlet’s comments.
“T-Thank you! But t-that’s not true, and it’s not something I want to discuss in front of Johnny…” Scarlet looks depressed.

“I totally understand…” Why does Nina look sad as well? “Here you go, to cheer you up!” Nina gave Scarlet a little piece of the muffin just as requested. “Just enough to have a good taste!” Nina takes a slice of her pie for herself. “Everyone’s plate is ready…”
“Let’s eat then!” Scarlet grabs her fork and digs in.

The wait is over! You give it a good chomp…! You can feel Kata’s feelings, all the emotions poured into this meal! The authentic essence of Katastrophic Calamity!

It’s pretty decent, edging on really good! Nothing out of this world, but it’s enjoyable at parts! Kata sure didn’t disappoint as much as you were expecting. You mean, calling it any level of disappointment feels a little disrespectful – it’s only your opinion though.

“Kata has such a good hand, don’t you think?” Nina wants to make some small talk with you.
“Yeah, I like it.” Nothing life changing like your teacher suggested, but you’re a fan.

“A very subdued reaction, Johnny. I’m glad you tasted it here and not in front of Kata.” Nina is enjoying her pie as calm as ever. She has never been the type to rush when she’s comfortable. “She’s unhealthily proud of everything she does or works for, and she can tell when someone is not being genuine – you would’ve broken her heart. So try not to eat these in front of her.”

“But I actually like it.” You’re honest! You’re not too different from how Amelia reacted.
“Compared to how everyone else reacts…” Nina rolls her eyes and chuckles.

“This is vewy dangewous…” You almost forgot Scarlet was here! H-Her plate is completely clean… “To think there was something almost as good as Jackey Frosties…”
“I don’t casually lie, you know?” Nina winks at Scarlet.

“I’ll have to go on a diet! You’ll have to help me, Johnny.” Scarlet pouts as she grabs your arm and drags you towards her.
“…” Nina didn’t react for some reason.

In midst of a joyful casual conversation between you three, you and Scarlet ended up eating the Big Muffin (mostly Scarlet) and Nina ate her whole pie – it wasn’t as big, but it’s still a lot. For reasons you can’t quite get, there were points where Nina ate faster, mostly when you were enjoying yourself laughing...

You can tell some tension dissipated during this time, Scarlet had some sort of animosity against Nina, you assume it had to do with school – but at least she came around. Now you’re free to actually discuss the important stuff…

“I’m glad you two are getting along.” You love to see it.
“You make it sound like it was going to be impossible.” Nina raises an eyebrow.

“To be fair, you’re often much much grumpier! You weren’t nice at all! Maybe it’s when you’re in teacher mode or something.” Scarlet has no problems saying that to Nina’s face.
“I-I was really that bad, huh…?” Nina doesn’t like this moment of introspection. “But still, you never made it easy. As a teacher, there’s only so much I can take…”

“Ehem, let’s talk about something else! We meet up for a reason.” You try to steer the conversation back to its original purpose. “Can you tell Scarlet about the Motley Crew?”
“This is just a formality, but can you promise you aren’t going to tell anyone about any of this?” Nina gets straight to business. You’re surprised that she’s willing to tell Scarlet everything, maybe Nina trusts you enough to believe Scarlet is reliable – either way, if things go badly, it’s going to be your responsibility.

“Y-Yeah, of course.” Scarlet feels intimidated but her curiosity is too strong.
“Good, let’s start by…” Nina starts her long-winded explanation, you feel like you’re back at school, for better or worse.

Nina explains what the Motley Crew is all about and who their members are! You don’t want to go into details because you already know all of this crap! You can tell Scarlet was far more interested in knowing more about this strange band of misfits. There are few details you didn’t know about but nothing cool enough to get hung about – but you’re going to mention them anyway because it’s character development:

-T_T Neko’s real name is Susie Tornatore and she’s in her 20s. Nina made it painfully clear that if this information is somehow divulged, everyone will be in real trouble.

-Lise is still holding onto Welimor. No one is suitable for her still…

-Scarlet told this tidbit: it appears Henry and her friend Sammi are related! They’re cousins! You never saw it coming.

-While he’s only an honorary member, it appears Richard is working at the police station once again.

-“Perfect” Billy Buonanotte’s nickname comes from him having a perfect aim throwing stuff. Nina thinks it’s a neat party trick. You have an awful aim, so maybe he can give you a couple of tips.

Now after taking notes, Scarlet seems to have a couple of questions...

“So why aren’t you guys actually doing something to stop everything?” Scarlet went right for the jugular.
“At first, we were too disorganized. I haven’t been the leader for long, and we only worried about our safety because we didn’t know what to do or expect from this.” Nina painfully admits. “Now I’ve been trying to work within our means to ensure we will get through this. I don’t want to put anyone’s life in danger, most of our members are underage too and if something happened to them, I… well, as you can see it’s not that simple. I don’t want either of you to get in danger either.”

“I get that but…” Scarlet looks away.
“Even if I told you to stop, what good would that do? Despite being just a student Johnny is the most competent flame user I know. Compared to me, a flameless mediocre history teacher, who do you think has a realistic chance of doing anything? And we’re talking about the fate of the whole world, it’s not something we can just leave to anyone… But should you two carry on that burden? I don’t think you should. I know you’re doing your own thing here, but never hesitate to call me for help or to back down.” Nina seems adamant about being an asset from now on.

“So what are you planning to do? As the Motley Crew, I mean.” You have your own questions to make!
“I’ve been busy reading and organizing all of Susie’s important information. Once I get a clear vision of the situation, I’ll know what our next move is going to be. I do want to find a way to eliminate all tracks that lead to us without being suspicious so we don’t have anything to worry about. That goes for you two as well.” Nina has a neat idea. “But personally, I think I should get an entity again… I-It’s not like I want to become an action woman all of the sudden, I’m not suited for that – but after what happened the other day with you… I just hate the idea of waiting with my arms crossed for everyone to be fine. I want to be useful too.”

“W-Wait you can just get one just like that? I thought you needed to be depressed.” Scarlet is surprised at the possibility. You thought you told her at one point… But who knows?
“With Constance’s help, it’s possible. I’m thinking about taking Kazuchika’s entity since its ability is pretty useful and his mind was wiped so that doesn’t happen again…” Nina is really thinking ahead.

“C-Can I get one…?” Scarlet wonders.
“Scarlet…” You glare at the red head.

“I-I mean… I just want to be useful, y’know?” Scarlet looks down. “…And maybe going on spy missions together would be cool…”
“This is not a game, Ms. Argyle.” Ms. Uccelli is using that tone of voice…

“I wasn’t thinking like that… Yeesh…” Scarlet pouts. Well she did make it sound like that.

“Now that I answered your questions, I think it’s time you do the same.” Nina is now interested in your other shenanigans. “What were you doing the other day…?”
“Well…” It’s time for you to explain everything…

And you did! Hooray! It was a long explanation of your latest shenanigans, but it was worth it. Now Nina knows what’s going on.

“Well, Kata did tell me that Xavi guy had a flame…” Nina looks deep in thought. “If you wanted information, you should’ve asked us… We have Susie on our side, remember?”
“No offense to her, but I think we got more and better information than what a bunch of cats could.” You don’t think it would be enough, which is true… Cats are not meant to be spies.

“Don’t underestimate them. I was surprised at the sheer amount and the level of accuracy the intel from those cats had.” Nina reveals about the cats. “Still, what you did was way too risky.”
“W-We had it under control…” Scarlet intervenes. For once, you’re not the only one defending your actions!

“Which prompts me to ask you both… Please, do not try to do anything dangerous for a while.” Nina begs, bowing down.
“Why…?” Scarlet is as confused as you are.

“Because if information is what you need, well, I’ll provide it to you! You just need to be patient! I’ll read all the archives related to the Cult. Please!” Nina asks again. Is she really that worried?
“To be honest, we got everything we needed…” Scarlet tells Nina about your findings.

“Then I don’t think you’re going to sit down and do nothing either at this point. Johnny, Scarlet… I want you to promise something to me. If your missions go badly, you won’t only not hesitate to call me but also from that point on you’re going to formally be part of the Motley Crew.” Nina is begging again!
“Huh…?” Scarlet is a bit confused.

“I don’t want you to get hurt. Please. You’re free to do whatever you want until it gets out of your hands, how does that sound…? I really need you to promise me you’re going to be part of the Motley Crew if Johnny gets hospitalized again.”

It’s not like your promise fulfillment record is good, but you’re a changed man…

“I-I don’t think I asked for anything outlandish… Did I?” Nina looks dumbfounded by your decision. “Maybe you need some time to sleep on it…?”

“I think you’re being fair.” Scarlet chimes in with an unexpected response. “But I completely understand where Johnny is coming from. If something bad happens he’ll be the first one to recognize it. Well, I’m not so sure how much at first, but he’ll come around – he trusts you a lot after all. So promising anything here is almost pointless, it’s almost like you’re the one not trusting him enough.”

“They’ve all been fine…” Nina says in the least reassuring way possible. “You want me to go into specifics, don’t you?”

“Yup.” You shrug. You’re used to being people’s vent machine or something at this point.
“I don’t have much to say in all honesty, it’s been more or less a week since they’ve joined and they’ve done all the work I asked of them...” Nina is having problems coming up with things to say about them. “I should go one by one, right?”

“Let’s start with Billy.” He’s the guy you know least about.
“He’s certainly the surprise package of the bunch. His work-ethic is commendable and he follows the pecking order to a fault. But I’ve dealt with bootlickers like him before, so I’m always wary.” Nina tries not to sound too harsh but she’s failing. “He acts like the kind of man who tries to get on your good side to get what he wants but doesn’t have the tact to do it successfully. I wouldn’t call him a sleazebag, but I don’t know what he’s really thinking or what side he’s on – it wouldn’t surprise me if he just vanishes one day. Doesn’t help that he’s a loudmouth either...”

“Look, I don’t have any chickens in this race but the other day I saw him talking with Ka-Shing, basically letting him know that he was changing sides… I think he’s committed for the immediate future.” You don’t think Billy is a bad guy, or at least as untrustworthy as Nina seems to be painting him. “And as for his eccentricity, I think that’s just part of who he is. Ask him to tone it down or something.”
“That’s good to know. I supposed it also doesn’t help that the way he talks always manages to make my skin crawl. He lacks the charm to pull all that flirting off. At least Kata likes it more often than not…” Nina looks both frustrated and embarrassed at the same time.

“Unlike me, right?” You playfully wink at her. You don’t think Billy’s game is necessarily bad…

You cannot just leave the poor cat like that, you need to do something! You casually start approaching Bradford Jr. as you look around the room, you know for a fact that Neko is watching you from somewhere – she had cameras all over the place in her apartment and old habits die hard. No cameras or anything of the like but you see some eyes creeping, submerged in the darkness from a just slightly opened door… That must be Neko, because once you lock eyes, she quickly closes the door. You take the wounded Bradford Jr. and put him on your lap once you’re back on the couch. He’s one heavy cat…

“Meow…” The easily distinguishable very deep meow of Bradford Jr.
“It’s all fine now.” You start petting him and look for any kind of wound. Thankfully there’s nothing like that, just dirt in some areas. You take Neko’s sweater and leave it on the side of the couch.

You start hearing meows coming from different parts of the apartment, but you see no cats roaming around. It reminds you of the first couple of times you visited Dr. Calamity’s original clinic. But these ain’t no ghosts.

“Here is some lemon tea…” Nina appears out of nowhere with a tray in her hands, and leaves a glass of lemon tea for you on the little table you have in front. Lemon tea is one of your favorites, but you don’t remember mentioning it to her at any point, or anyone for that matter.
“Thanks.” You take a sip, it’s decent.

“I fed the cats just now, and Susie is already aware that you’re here…” Nina looks at her phone. Did Neko text her…? “And by the looks of it, I don’t think she’s too thrilled with your presence. And Scarlet thought I was grumpy…” Nina finally notices Bradford Jr. in your arms. “Oh, playing with the cat while I was away?”
“Y-Yeah… I consider us old pals.” You awkwardly laugh about it while petting him. He’s almost asleep, so he’s not acting strange or anything for Nina to notice.

“Hmm… This is coming out of the blue, but how close are you to him?” Nina seems to have ulterior motives for asking this question.
“W-What do you mean?”

“Well you see, I’m trying to find homes for most of Susie’s cats. She cut ties with the group of people that used to take care of them and I ended up with dozens of them. The most obedient ones I gave to members of the Motley Crew, so we have a backup that can inform us if you’re in danger.” Nina starts explaining. “And well… Bradford Jr. here, he needs someone who really can take care of him and not just make him stay around the house, he really needs to go on a diet. I can’t do it here because he keeps eating the other cats’ food, and one of Susie’s demands was to have at least 3 of her cats around her… I like him, he’s one of my favorites, but I can’t do much. Could you please?”

“Hold on, what did you do to Bradford Jr.?” Worried, Nina takes your valiant knight and checks on him. Nina starts noticing the few bruises on the fat cat, and glares at Neko.
“M-Me? Nothing! W-Why would I do anything to him? He’s one of my cats, you know?” Neko plays dumb.

“Meow!” The betrayed Bradford Jr. shouts!
“Tch... You can meow all you want, but these two can’t understand you.” Neko is being such a dishonest bitch right now! But you easily understand that that’s Bradford Jr. refuting what she just said.

“He has bruises all over him, you need to explain.” Nina won’t pretend nothing is wrong.
