The Lighthouse War is over, but conflict still continues.

With Erusea's defeat at the hands of the Osean Federation and the International United Nations, the imperial nation has splintered into a confusing mess of separatists, freedom fighters, warlords, rogue military factions, and those seeking to profit from the chaos. Worse, Erusea's many automated drone factories still remain intact, waiting for new masters to come to claim them.

The Usean continent remains in crisis, and it's up to a new generation of pilots to face this next generation threat...

You are MILLY, the "Red Tail", a Belkan Air Force pilot fighting for the IUN!

With the destruction of that satellite uplink ship, things should be getting a little easier for you and your squadron, since OB or whatever the hell it's turned into at this point would have trouble tracking your movements, at least for the moment.

However, that didn't mean things were over. Not by a long shot. Already, you were back in the briefing room with the others, as well as Karla, surprisingly enough. Looks like she had dropped into Fort Grays while you were away on the mission.

"Great job taking out that uplink ship." Karla smiled. "It was doing a whole lot more than snooping on your movements."

"And here I thought I was a special." You roll your eyes.

"Did you find out anything new?" Bandit asked.

"Unfortunately, no. These guys have gotten good at hiding their electronic tracks, and with the uplink ship at the bottom of the sea now, we can't really go through their logs."

"Shoulda said something before we sunk it." You grumble.

"Don't get me wrong, you did the right thing. I'm just explaining the situation." Karla sighs. "But, there is something that may help."

"Shoot." Bandit nods.

"Ever since the Conservatives took power, they've been rounding up suspected Belkan and Grunder agents like no tomorrow." Karla explains. "And well, at least a few of them are ACTUAL Grunder agents who might have a bit of inside knowledge."

"So you're saying we need to stage a prison break?" Vicky gasps.

"More or less." Karla nods.

"Sounds exciting!" You grin. "But what about the ACTUAL Belkan agents?"

"That's a concern, too." Karla nods. "Of course, a mission of this nature is going to be HIGHLY sensitive."

"Is this going to be an issue with the IUN?" Bandit raises an eyebrow.

"I wouldn't be raising this in Fort Grays if it wasn't." Karla shrugs casually. "This particular facility also holds a number of political prisoners the IUN would very much like to see freed."

"What sort of facility are we discussing here?" Misono wonders aloud. "It can't be normal if you're asking for the help of fighter pilots."

"Yeah, that's the thing." Karla points to the briefing screen.

An image winks on showing what looked to a large complex of floating platforms, linked together by large, aerial bridges in the middle of the sea.

"That was supposed to be the Farbanti Naval Defense Platform. Originally built to deter Osean naval attacks on the capital, they couldn't finish it before the outbreak of the Lighthouse War and suspended construction. After the war, the facility was supposedly decommissioned and sold off to an Erusean oil drilling firm."

"Which of course, is bunk." You conclude.

"Right on the money." Karla confirms. "Since the platform is just outside of Erusean territorial waters, that makes it the perfect location for a government black site."

"A floating prison, huh?" Misono muses. "Quite the interesting challenge."

"B-but they removed all the weapons, right?" Vicky asks hopefully.

"Doubtful." Karla shakes her head. "But since the site is supposed to be secret, Erusea can't station a heavy military garrison without attracting attention. Your job would be to suppress the platform's defenses until a ground team can spring the prisoners. Then bug out before the Eruseans can actually respond."

"Very bold." Bandit observes.

This honestly. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist for them to figure out who was behind that kind of attack. If we can do this without the boom boom that's all the better. We did just go out of our away to avoid a war during the embassy siege recall.

"Isn't there a more subtle way to handle this?" You frown. "I thought the last thing we needed was to start a war with Erusea."

"Which is why you'll be camouflaged as those Neo One Belka guys." Karla answers simply. "You're not the only ones they've been harassing. They've been pulling plenty of raids and ambushes on Erusean and IUN forces all over the continent. It won't be something completely unexpected."

"Won't they still be mad at their facility being attacked?" Vicky wonders.

"What facility?" Karla chuckles. "It's a black site. It's very nature must be kept secret at all costs. Even if it were to suffer a very unfortunate industrial accident, Erusea would never publicly admit or retaliate over it, assuming they figure out we were even behind it at all."

That.. did make some sense.

"Anyways we still have those unregistered F-16s you used in Shilage. A little souped up now, of course." Karla continues. "Or you can go with your regular planes repainted, but that might still be too recognizable."

Fortunately, Mead doesn't throw a wrench at you the moment you enter the hangar. However, you do note that your Su-47 was still in a partly disassembled state, a number of its avionics and wiring having been pulled out, some of it still burnt and smoldering. Obviously it was going to take a while to fully fix.

Meanwhile, the Wyvern that you recovered was starting to actually look like a working plane. Sure, the fuselage still looked scorched and dented, but it was pounded back into its basic structure, and the cockpit looked to be fully installed and functional.

"Hey, Mead!" You wave your hand. "How are things going?"

"Huh? Oh, hey Milly." Mead pulls her head out of one of the Wyvern's access panels. "Well, thanks to a little cash infusion from your bosses, I've been able to get pretty much all of the common parts and cobbled them back into the plane. It's about 80% done, but I still need engines and the weapons systems."

"Anything I can do to help?" You wonder.

"Well, if you were to go over and steal parts from a Grunder factory or depot, sure."

"Well, I was planning to drop the boneyard at the 444th Airbase. I don't really like the place, but it's got a little bit of everything there."

"Wait a minute, isn't that the Osean military prison place?" You frown.

"Yep." Mead nods. "I"m pretty familiar with it, unfortunately."

"Let me guess, you were an inmate?"

"How'd you know?"

"Just a feeling." You shrug. "So you got sprung out?"

"Pardoned, technically. Managed to not die long enough." Mead sighs. "But yeah, I've got history with the place. I'd rather just avoid it, but I can't pass up the chance I might find something."

You decided that it would be better to ride with Mead. You quickly meet up with her in front of the hangar, where she subsequently leads you to a waiting C-130. Since it was also delivering supplies to the base, the interior was a bit cramped, but you and Mead were able to squeeze into a little nook near the front of the plane.

It didn't take long for the transport to take off and embark on the trip north. Though you couldn't see outside, you liked to think that Vicky and Misono were out there providing cover.

"So, is there anything interesting going on?" You ask Mead curiously.

"Same crap, different day." Mead shrugs. "But at least it looks like the IUN is making headway in bringing law and order back to Usea, especially with the satellite network coming back online."

"I see." You nod, unable to think of anything else to say.

"So once this is all over, what are you gonna do?" Mead asks her own question.

"Go back to Belka, I guess." You shrug. "They're still gonna need an air force. Gotta deter that Osean aggression, after all."

"Yeah, I can't say I blame you there." Mead chuckles. "Gonna get a knight title, too?"

"That's the plan."

"Must be nice to have everything all planned out." Mead smiles as she leans back in her seat.

"Well, what are you going to do after the IUN?" You ask.

However, the sound of light snoring let you know that Mead had already drifted off to sleep. Guess you'd have to wait for the answer at some later time...

The flight over to the 444th Base doesn't take too long. The cargo plane touches down at the airfield, situated at an island just off the coast. The shock of the landing shakes Mead awake, and she yawns as she stretches.

"Finally here, huh?" She sighs as she gets up.

As the cargo ramp lowers, you see a small group of uniformed and armed men. The prison guards, no doubt. They give you and Mead suspicious looks.

"Stand down, boys, we've got permission to be here." Mead sighs as she pulls out a letter and presents it to the lead guard. "We're just gonna look through the boneyard for a bit and we'll be on our way."

"Everything looks in order." The lead guard grunts. "Just to warn you, we do have prison work details operating in the boneyard right now. They're all low threat prisoners, but we still suggest bringing an escort."

You see Mead bite her lip. Looks like she wasn't keen on sticking around near these guys.

The guards pause and look at each other, and the lead guard just shrugs.

"Fine by me. You know where to find us if you change your minds."

The guards then disperse to oversee the unloading of the plane, and Mead quickly stomps towards the bridge connecting the island airbase with the mainland.

"Thanks, Milly. I kinda hesitated there." Mead sighs.

You decide some memories were better left alone, and you don't raise the subject.

Finally, the two of you cross the bridge onto the mainland, and find yourself right in the middle of the boneyard. Fighters and planes of all types and sizes were littered here in varying states of decay and disrepair. Seeing the sheer size of this boneyard and the diversity of planes was a stark reminder to the scale of Osea's air force. That they had this many planes that they could just casually throw away in the desert both disgusted and terrified you to some extent.

"And this is a tiny one in comparison." Mead says, apparently reading the expression on your face. "The ones in Osea proper are WAY larger."

Damn.

"Anyways, we used this boneyard to keep Spare Squadron's planes maintained. You could always find a little bit of everything here." Mead continues as she brushes away a cloud of windswept dust. "Looks like a lot of new additions, too. Probably Osean planes that got written off and Erusean salvage."

"This is... a lot of ground to cover." You frown.

"That it is." Mead nods. "It'll probably be well after dark before we get through all of it."

"Well, that's why we should stick together, huh?" You grin. "So uh, where do we start?"

"Well, ideally, I'd like to start from the prison and work our way outwards." Mead nods to the large prison facility to the side, set well behind several layers of barbed wire fences. "Only problem is like they said, they got prison work details running around out here. The guards don't take them too far from the prison. Or we could just start from the other end and work our way back here. It'll eat up some more time but they don't have crews working at night."

As you search through the wreckage, none of the nearby work crews look to be in any mood to bother the two of you besides a few whistles and catcalls. You suppose women were a pretty uncommon sight in this base, and for good reason.

Thankfully, the guards were in no mood letting the prisoners get rowdy, and keep a close eye on them.

Meanwhile, as you're searching through the wreckage, something catches your eyes. It looks to be an intact...

"So, we can salvage it?" You ask.

"Yeah, it looks intact enough. Guess they passed it over in a hurry." Mead nods and plants a small orange flag. "I'll let the guys know to bring a forklift over to pick it up."

Mead then stands up and takes a quick glance at the sky.

"Hm, sun's starting to get pretty low. We already found a working railgun here. Not sure how much we want to push our look digging through here in the dark."

"That just means there's gotta be more cool loot here, right?" You say confidently.

"Well, if you put it that way..." Mead sighs and grins. "All right, we'll give it one more shot."

And so the two of you head off deeper into the boneyard as the sun sinks lower and lower into the sky.

However, as the two of you dig through the various airplane carcasses, you note it's gotten rather... quiet. You suppose with it getting late, the prisoner work crews were being sent back and flights were starting to thin out. It also made you notice that Mead hadn't been talking all that much this whole time, either.

Even as the sun goes down, as you dig through the many plane wrecks, you suddenly trip and slide down the back of a tilted F-14.

"Hey Mead, you go on ahead. I'm gonna go pay my fans a little visit!" You grin.

"What do you mean-" Mead glances at the prison and then groans. "Are you serious?"

"Hey, I kinda owe them at least this much, you know?" You nod.

"Well, your funeral. I ain't going back." Mead shakes her head. "I'll see you back at the base assuming you don't get shanked."

"I'll be the one doing the shanking!" You boast.

Unfortunately, you quickly found out that the guards weren't too keen on letting you anywhere near the prisoners, since there were fears your presence would cause a riot. Apparently hero worship of you had REALLY caught on in the prison, but also pissed a lot of other prisoners off, and there was a tense standoff between your fans and your apparent haters. You showing up had the potential to cause a riot.

However, the warden did feel he owed you a favor for retaking the base, so he was willing to take the risk of you addressing the prisoners, though there was the question of how to do it.

You had told the warden that you wanted to meet the fans personally in the prison yard. The warden of course was not really enthused about the idea, but reluctantly agreed. They had a stage hastily set up in the yard, and made sure to surround it with guards as a precaution. With you at the center, your fans were allowed to come out to meet you face to face, or at least get a good look at you.

"Holy crap! It's the Red Angel herself!" You hear the prisoners murmuring as they gather.

"Really? She looks kinda small."

"And flat."

"Hey, I'm the real thing here!" You insist. "Jeez, don't you guys have TVs here or anything?!"

"Well, now that she says that...."

"Oh yeah, and I get that it's your form of endearment, but try not to go overboard with the dick pics!" You tut. "My friends help me read the mail and they're waaaaaay more pure than any of us here!"

That elicits some laughter from the crowd.

"Can we get autographs?" One of the prisoners asks.

"Nobody near her!" One of the guards grunts as he roughly shoves the inmate away.

"Hey! So the Red Bitch really is here, huh? She don't look so tough!"

Suddenly, a new blob of prisoners moves into the yard, led by a stereotypically large, muscled inmate with tattoos up the wazoo.

"She don't look so tough! More like a pansy ass!" He boasts.

"Don't you talk about her like that!" Another inmate yells. "She's got more balls than you do!"

"Really?"

Now the atmosphere was starting to change as both armies of inmates started glaring at each other. Crap, there really might be a riot at this rate!

Already, you could see the guards listening to instructions on their radios. You already knew the contingency plan was to prioritize getting you to safety and letting the prisoners wail on each other until they ran out of steam.

Unfortunately, there was only one way to defuse this situation, and it wouldn't be pretty.

After the little prison yard incident, the entire prison facility was locked down to contain the riot. While neither you nor Mead were blamed or punished, the prison warden made it rather clear that for everybody's safety, it would best that you load up your salvaged parts and leave by the next morning.

So there was a long, sleepless night as you and Mead directed work crews to pull the out the EML and Wyvern engines that you had found and ship them back to the transport. It was already the crack of dawn by the time the transport took off. By the time it did, you and Mead were too tired to do much else and just immediately passed out.

You're only roused awake by the jolt of the transport landing on tarmac, and you groan as you get up and stretch. What a long night!

You see Bandit coming up the ramp, a curious and slightly concerned expression on his face as he catches sight of you and Mead.

"Red." He nods simply. "Your transport came back ahead of schedule, and at an odd hour."

"Yeah, funny how that works, huh?" You shrug as you rub the sleep out of your eyes.

"And you did come back with quite the haul." He notes as he glances at the parts you recovered, all of them covered up in protective tarps."

"That we did." You say in agreement.

"You haven't happened to have caused any sort of trouble while you were at the base, did you?" Bandit asks curiously.

"What makes you think that?" You ask as innocently as you can manage.

"Well, knowing you, I'm sure you took the opportunity while away from me to attempt something wildly reckless." Bandit grunts. "And the 444th base commander was suspiciously evasive when we checked in with them."

Crap, he really was on to you!

"Fuck if I know what their problem is." You shrug innocently. "Besides, we're all back safely, right? There's no need to worry about it!"

Bandit frowns as he continues his suspicious glare, but eventually gives up trying to get anything out of you.

"All right, whatever you say. Just get ready. We'll be moving out to prepare to hit the black site soon."

"What, already?" You blink.

"We'll be forward positioning to an IUN held base closer to Farbanti, in northern Usea." Bandit notes. "We don't want our camouflaged F-16s being seen so they'll be disassembled and airlifted to the base, disguised as a supply shipment. We'll be heading over with either Orpheus or Flamenco as escort."

"Damn, they're moving fast." You whistle. "So we've already got a strike team ready?"

"Personally assembled by Jager." Bandit confirms. "Anyways, we aren't due to leave until tonight, so you still have a few hours of free time."

You decide to go see what Orpheus Team was up to. It was simple enough to to find them, as they seemed to be doing a routine inspection on their Typhoons. However, as you approached, even though you couldn't hear what they were saying, it was pretty clear that they were in a pretty serious discussion of some form. Well, it seemed to be Alanna doing all the talking while Angela listened. Neither of them seem to have noticed your approach yet, though.

"Hey guys! What's up?" You wave cheerfully as the approach your two sorta-rivals.

"Well well, looks like our local celebrity is here!" Angela grins as she waves you over. "Hope all that fame isn't going to your head!"

"I'm a fighter pilot, so of course it is!" You grin. "So how have the two of you been doing?"

"Oh, just the usual. Doing air patrols and suppressing the local bandits!"

"It's rather boring work, really." Alanna sighs.

"You said it!" Angela huffs. "Meanwhile Raven here gets to go do all sorts of crazy missions! Like that whole thing over Farbanti. Damn, I would've loved to have been there to see it!"

"Don't encourage her." Alanna sighs, pointing to her. "You're just going to make her even more smug."

"Not just Belkans, you forgot to mention the criminals." Alanna adds coolly.

"Ooooooh, that was a low blow." You wag your finger at Alanna.

"Thanks. I'm practicing." Alanna cracks a light grin.

Angela bursts out into a little fit of laughter.

"Thanks, but I have enough people hitting on me already, a fanclub would just be too much!"

"You could always just turn them down." Alanna rolls her eyes.

"But that would just be rude!" Angela pouts.

"Anyways, there's a lot of rumors going around about you making a visit to the 444th Airbase." Alanna continues casually. "And then you and Mead came back in a real hurry."

"Ohmygosh, are you all right? They didn't lewd to you, did they?!" Angela gasps.

"I'm fine!" You groan. "They were all perfectly nice! Well, most of them, anyways. There were a few haters in there that pretty much ruined it for everyone."

"You are one crazy little girl, have I ever told you that?" Angela smiles and shakes her head in disbelief.

"I'm still shocked you didn't shanked." Alanna shrugs.

"I was just visiting! I wasn't an ACTUAL prisoner." You roll your eyes.

"Could've fooled me." Alanna shrugged.

"Anyways, I heard that you made a lot of progress on your Wyvern fixer upper project?" Angela changes the subject.

"Wanna try one one?" You say in a teasing tone, hoping to catch the dour Ustian off guard.

"I'll pass." Alanna shakes her head. "I don't fly recklessly enough to need something like that."

Oooooh, that was another low blow there.

"Well fine. Not like we had any extra, anyways!" You huff.

"Now now, girls, behave." Angela chuckles, wrapping her arms around the both of you. "We're supposed to be having a mission tonight, so I can't have you two squabbling all day, got it?"

"You're coming with us?" You blink.

Well, you were caught off guard that Bandit would actually take a risk and let Orpheus in on the secret stuff. You figured he'd keep things close to the chest in Raven Squadron.

Then again, you had to admit that Angela and Alanna were pretty cool, even if they're Ustian. You suppose Bandit thought they were trustworthy enough.

"Well, I hope the both of you know what you're getting into." You sigh.

"Oh don't worry, we wanna raise some hell, too!" Angela beams. "Being on the defensive for so long gets really frustrating, you know?"

Yeah, you can certainly relate.

"Angela, we still need to finish our pre-mission inspection." Alanna grunts.

You head over to the hangar where your plane was being stored, and frown when you see the repair crews still going over your Su-47. You see a very tired looking Mead still supervising the process.

"Uh, is my plane still being looked over?" You frown.

"Yep." Mead sighs. "We found a few more fried electronics and are trying to swap them out as fast as possible. Thing is, we might not be able to get it repaired fully tonight."

"Well, what's the issue?" You frown. "Can it still fly?"

"Well yeah, it'll be flyable. Your missile fire control might not work properly, though." Mead warns. "Now, you probably aren't going to get ambushed on the way to the forward base, but it's something to keep in mind."

"You can get it done, right?" You you glance at your Su-47.

Fortunately, it was a rather uneventful flight to the IUN forward airbase, near Cape Rainy. Looks like getting rid of that satellite uplink ship was really making a difference in keeping your movements hidden now. Well, that was something, at least.

The rest of the day was spent unpacking the F-16s kept stored securely in the cargo planes you were escorting. There would be six total, enough for both Raven and Orpheus. They were all painted black, with no identifying features in with upgraded configurations consistent to what Neo One Belka were using.

Currently, you pilots were gathered around a hastily set up folding table as the mechanics were making the final assembly and checks. Bandit, of course, was going over the mission details on last time.

"All right, this raid on the Black Site will have to done swiftly." Bandit reminds you all, pointing to an empty soda can as its representation. "According to our intel, the Black Site has a small airstrip. While it's mostly used for helicopters, we cannot discount the possibility of them possessing short takeoff planes."

"Oh, so we'll have something to do, then." You smirk.

"We do know there are light naval elements scattered around the facility." Bandit ignores your comment as he places small erasers all around the can. "While they aren't immediate threats to us, they will certainly be an obstacle to the extraction team, who will be inserting by submarine."

"That's very sophisticated!" Vicky gasps.

"It's the stealthiest option." Bandit explains. "On the facility itself, expect numerous SAM and AA emplacements to be present. However, our biggest enemy here is time. We have to punch a hole in the defenses, get the extraction team in, and get out before Erusean reinforcements can arrive."

"Will local conditions play into this?" Alanna asks.

"If we hold off our attack for another few hours, a light storm should roll through the area, which will interrupt any attempt to reach the facility by sea." Bandit points out. "But I of course don't have to remind you that it will be a persistent flight hazard."

"I always like a challenge!" Angela laughs.

"Shouldn't be an issue for us, either." Alanna confirms. "We can fly anywhere in any condition."

"Good." Bandit turns back to the makeshift display. "Continuing on, there's three primary lines of defense to focus on. Naval, air, and surface. We can separate into wing pairs to deal with each threat. Red, what you want to take?"

You decide to go check that your F-16 is properly kitted. As you head over to the hangars, you could see Mead, even more haggard and sleep deprived, as she works on the black, unmarked planes.

These F-16s were upgraded to a more advanced V variant. While still not as sophisticated as more modern planes, these F-16Vs were still nothing to scoff at, with stealth features and better avionics packed in.

"Oh, hey there Milly." Mead grunts. "So what do you need?"

"Just checking my plane. Is it ready?" You wonder.

"I guess an air to air loadout for this one." You say. "What have you got?"

"Load it up with QAAMs." You say. "I get the feeling I might go up against some serious aces."

"Gotcha. We'll put them on right away!" Mead nods as she motions some of the ground crew over.

As you glance at the F-16, you wonder if you should try migrating Swallow into it. Sure, he had only just been restored to operational state, but his input was usually pretty helpful. However, you weren't sure how he'd perform being suddenly imported into a new plane on such short notice.

You decide against installing Swallow in the F-16. It was only going to be one mission, anyways.

Suddenly, you see your fellow pilots jogging and boarding the F-16s as the ground crew cleared out, disconnecting fuel hoses and pushing equipment out of the way. You quickly follow suit and climb up the boarding ladder, settling into the cockpit.

It took a little while to readjust to the F-16's cockpit layout, but you still remembered the placements. It was like riding a bike! A multimillion dollar, supersonic bike.

"All right, everybody check in." Bandit says. "Use mission callsigns."

"Black Two, reporting." You say.

"Black Three, reporting." Misono says.

"B-Black Four, reporting!" Vicky stammers.

"Black Five, reporting." Angela says simply.

"Black Six, ready and waiting!" Alanna barks.

"Okay, let's move out." Bandit says. "Remember to stay low once we take off. Altitude restrictions are in place to avoid radar."

And with that, your temporarily expanded squadron takes off from the base, heading north before swerving west so that most of your journey would be over open water, where you had less chance of being seen.

Everything was quiet besides the hum of your F-16's engines. You were all instructed to keep radio silence until you reached the mission area. In the meantime, you just had to follow Bandit or the objective marker.

After a while, you could see a large, anvil shaped cloud drifting southwards, illuminated in brief instants by lightning. That had to be the storm Bandit was talking about.

Up ahead, you could see several structures jutting out of the ocean's surface. That had to be the Black SIte. The storm was only minutes away from hitting.

"All right, the Black Site is up ahead." Bandit reports. "All planes, commence operations. You know your objectives."

With that, Bandit and Misono dive down to attack the Black site, while Angela and Alanna split up to start strafing the picket ships around the facility.

"What should we do?" Vicky asks.

Well, you could hang back at high altitude as a CAP to be in a position to intercept any air threats that might show up. There was a likelihood there were air patrols in the area.

Or, you could go and start strafing the airstrip platform. Hopefully knock out their plane complement before they can even get into the air.

And just ahead, you could see a row of F-18s parked in a row on the airstrip, just waiting to get strafed. The combination of the surprise attack as well as the rest of the defenses' attention being drawn to Angela and Alanna meant you were completely free to fire.

You pull your gun trigger, letting an uninterrupted stream of bullets walk all the way down the runway, shredding four F-18s as you pass. You could see men on the airstrip dashing in all directions, either to take cover to get to battle stations.

In that brief few seconds, you're already past the airstrip and over the open water again. You were tempted to circle around for another strafing run. They might have more planes tucked away in that platform. Then again, any air patrols in the area would certainly begin to be vectored to your location.

You pull up on your stick and push the throttle to gain altitude. You just needed to gain a bit of altitude.

At this point, the storm was now rolling in on top of the Black Site, shrouding the entire area in clouds and sheets of rain. Any outside reinforcements were going to have trouble getting here now, but that also meant visibility was completely shot...

Suddenly, you catch movement in the clouds, the glint of steel flashing briefly in a wayward lightning strike. A quartet of Erusean F-35s come barreling out of the clouds, looking ready to tangle.

Those were... a lot more advanced than your F-16s, even the upgraded variant. This looked like it could get rough.

"T-this is bad..." Vicky gulps. "Should we call for backup?"

Well, at this point, the others were already pursuing their own objectives. Bandit and Misono were picking off the patrol ships while Angela and Alanna were dodging anti-air fire, attempting to knock out the various weapon emplacements littered all over the station.

"Let's draw them away!" You tell Vicky as you swerve towards the storm. Best to keep the F-35s away from the others for now.

"R-right!" Vicky gulps. "We're not going INTO the storm, are we?"

"We're ALREADY in the storm!" You point out as a bolt of lightning flashes past.

Meanwhile, your radar was showing the F-35s were taking the bait, giving chase to you and Vicky.

You fly deeper into the storm, but the F-35s are clearly being flown by veterans, as they plunge right through the rain and turbulence without hesitation, maintaining contact with you and Vicky at all times. You fire off 2 QAAMs, which instantly loop around and blast off to your rear to engage the F-35s. This is enough to cause the F-35s to break away into two pairs, but the combination of the storm and the extreme maneuvering the QAAMs had to do to fly behind you cause them to spin out of control, failing to hit anything.

However, Vicky takes the opportunity to pull a sharp, high-G turn to launch a pair of missiles of her own. One F-35 immediately explodes in a fireball while another takes some damage on its right wing.

"Nice one!" You whoop.

"Got it!" Vicky affirms as her F-16 falls in besides yours. "These planes aren't so bad, are they?"

"Of course not, otherwise they wouldn't STILL be in service!" You point out.

Meanwhile, the remaining two F-35s take a cue from you and plunge deeper into the storm system. Was is just an act of desperation? Or was there a plan behind it all? These guys certainly knew what they were.

Well, there was only one way to find out as you hit your afterburners...
