The gaze of the magical knight stays locked to you. He’s clearly acknowledging you, though curiously he… seems to be considering its options. As he does though, you see the blue glow around the triceratops become a deeper shade… then gain a slight purple tint. “Hahahaha! Scared stiff? Didn’t think I had it in me?! I’m no simpleton, and you’ll regret underestimating me, Knight!”

“YOU CANNOT BEGIN TO COMPREHEND THE POWER YOU WEILD.” the knight retorts. “EVEN NOW YOU ARE BEING CORRUPTED BY IT.”

The green glow seems to grow stronger in your hand. The air continues to shimmer with power. Sachie, Zarid, and even 19 start to feel it, and the other dinosaurs move back to give their leader some space. Well Izzy, what’ll you do now?

You let your aura surge around you, bringing your Spirit Bits around to your friends to make sure that whatever magical effects are going on don’t start to affect them too. As you do, you walk forward confidently, still holding the shard in your hand. “Sorry to interrupt this confrontation, but looks like the two of you will have a slight change of plans.” Your aura surges up around you as you draw your own blade, the Sword of Braves pulsing as the place’s magic seems to react even more strongly to all of you.

The triceratops snorts angrily, his allies turning from supportive cheers to looking over the rest of your group. “HUMAN! You come to stop us?! Come to drive us from our land?!”

“Look at ‘er, boss, it’s a small one!” one of the dinosaurs hisses. “All of ‘em are, but she’s the smallest! SMALL FRY! Leave if you know what’s good for you!”

“IF YOU BELIVE YOU CAN HANDLE THIS POWER, YOU ARE AS MUCH A FOOL AS THIS BRUTE. EN GARDE!” The Knight declares, dashing forward and stabbing down with his sword flames enveloping it, while at the same time using his free hand to charge up a sparking surge of Lightning Magic, strangely tinted red, and blasting it out at the triceratops. You back away from the stab in time, your sword clashing against his as the Knight tries to turn the stab into a slash, as the triceratops brings his crystal forward and blocking the blast of Lightning with, surprisingly, a shield of Ice.

The other dinosaurs go after your friends, an ominous, chaotic aura surrounding them as Magic surges in the air once more. Thankfully, the Spirit Bits you bring out are enough to keep your friends safe from the Magic, and the dinosaurs, while stronger than they should be, don’t give them many problems. You however find it hard to really balance everything at once. The Hero’s Barrier being brought up and down to keep yourself safe from the chaotic, arcane energies flowing through the place, the massive Knight displaying exceptional sword skills and strength, enough to keep you on your toes, and the triceratops casting Magic of his own, even dousing the Knight’s flaming sword with a blast of Water and rushing in to try and tackle the Knight down, only missing thanks to the unreal agility of the Knight’s form.

All right. If they’re gonna play this game, you’ll show them what you can do… buuuut you’re not going to take any unnecessary risks. Leaping back, you let a sparking aura surge surround you, yelling out, “RAIO-TEN!” As you do, though, you amp up the Spirit Bits protecting your friends, saving Zarid and Sachie from a powerful and chaotic wave of magic. 19 however seems to plan for this, and holds her hands out, hands splayed open. To your surprise, and even hers a little, she’s able to take in some of that Magic.

Right as you use the Raio-Ten, the Knight ignites his sword once more and sends several flaming jets of power, almost like arrows, to try and lock you down. Your increase in power though gets you to avoid them easily, even bringing his attention back to the triceratops as you dash around the room, deflecting his sword strikes with surprising grace.

“HUMAN! OUT OF MY WAY! YOU WON’T STOP ME!” the triceratops roars out… body shimmering with an odd power. It is like your Mahou form, though he clearly doesn’t have anywhere near the control you do. The purple aura seems to “harden” around his body. He charges at you, and you leap to the ceiling, landing there and standing on it (gotta thank Sachie again once you’re done with this). You look down… and see that the triceratops’ body crashes through the “hardened” aura around it.

And he’s changed.

His body looks like it’s wearing some kind of… oversized organic armor, purple in color, spiked and almost disturbing-looking. Large shoulder-pads on his shoulders, almost like true pauldrons, near flesh-like faulds connected to a large culet almost looking like an organic “skirt,” what… what even IS this?! He lets out a roar as he crashes into the Knight, even managing to knock his foe back. And in the center of his chest is a blueish-purple glow, coming from the crystal shard.

“YOU FOOL! YOUR BODY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE THIS KIND OF POWER!” the Knight declares. “IT ALREADY CORRUPTS YOU, CEASE THIS ELSE YOUR MIND WILL BE GONE FOREVER!”

“I’LL… STOP… THE HUMANS!” the triceratops roars out again, voice deeper and increasingly unhinged.

“Everyone, move back!” 19 demands, forming a barrier around herself… that gains a surge of electricity. She tackles into the other dinosaurs, stunning all of them with… actual Lightning Magic! Way to go, 19! “Sachie, Zarid, Yajirobe, bring them out of here before they end up like that one.” she points to the transformed triceratops.

“No need to tell me twice!” Yajirobe calls back, grabbing several of them and rushing out the doorway.

“Better idea!” Sachie yells out, creating several copies of herself, all of them dragging the remaining dinosaurs.

The triceratops and knight continue to battle. You’ve got the power advantage, but you can feel that the more you let out, the stronger the feedback in this place gets. Vines slither along the walls like demented serpents, the red aura of the Knight surges higher, flames and sparks erupting from his golem mech’s armor, the chaotic purple aura of the transformed triceratops like a raging flame.

Okay. You’ve got to deal with this, and quick. The longer the triceratops is like that, the worse it’s going to get. You let go of the ceiling and declare in midair, “HENSHIN! YUUSSHHAAAAAAA!” As you transform… the crystal in your hand seems to react to it. A stronger surge of energy than normal surrounds you, your emerald aura erupting with arcane might. The triceratops and Knight continue to clash, though the Knight clearly notices your transformation.

He leaps away as you land, and your whole body feels like it’s struggling to keep everything together. You look down and see the shard embedded in your armor, power flowing from it… and into it from your surroundings. Another surge of power washes over, powering up the transformed triceratops even more than before. From his horns, frigid blasts of water jet forth in near random directions, the Knight using a shield of flame to keep it from hitting him, his blazing sword surging with power once more.

One of the stray jets ends up headed towards Zarid and Sachie, the two avoiding the worst of it but still getting knocked away, the chaotic power causing the both of them to struggle to stand. Sparks jet from Zarid’s body, and a strange, reddish-orange aura starts to glow around Sachie. 19’s able to avoid it, and takes in more of that surge of Magical power, then stands the ongoing battle and your friends. She forms a barrier and gives you a nod. She’s got them covered.

You dash in front of the triceratops as it attempts to smash down at the ground, freezing it and sending jagged pillars of ice up. As it approaches you, though, you hold your hand out. “You need to stop!” In trying to counter Ice with Ice, you end up unintentionally mixing in Wind Magic. The shard glows brighter, and you even push back the frigid blast. 19’s barrier keeps it from bringing harm to her, Sachie, and Zarid, thankfully.

“HUUUUUMMMMAAAAAAANNNN!” he yells out, strange watery forms starting to flow around him. His feet lift into the air, and he launches towards you, the water turning into jets helping propel him forward. You put your sword back in its sheath, then bring both hands forward. Okay Izzy. Like with Baby’s nanomachines. Like what you saw on that show. The triceratops charges to you…

And you catch him by the horns. Your feet dig into the ground. The shard in your armor glows brighter, the one in the triceratops’ armor doing the same, both of them ending up in a positive feedback loop. It’s going to keep making your foe stronger. You NEED to stop this! Now! You let out a ferocious yell, giving a surge of Magic to try and force this corruption out. It takes almost all your strength… but you’re able to finally force the Magic out! A brilliant flash of energy fills the room.

The Magical surges still, for a moment.

The triceratops falls, unconscious, but alive.

The glowing blue shard hovers where he stood… and jets right into your armor.

You gasp and fall to your knees as you feel an overwhelming surge of power enter into your body. The emerald green aura surges higher. You… you feel like your body’s going to tear apart. Your armor glows, almost pulsing with power. Need to… need to keep your mind under control… agh… AGH…

“MAHOU.” the Knight’s voice calls to you. “IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I HAVE SEEN ONE OF YOUR KIND.” He stomps closer towards you. “YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN TAKE HOLD OF THIS POWER? LOOK AT YOURSELF. YOU BARELY HAVE CONTROL OF THIS POWER.”

“I… I promised…” you manage to breathe out. “I promised… to fix this…”

“TO ACCESS THIS POWER, YOU NEED A FORM THAT CAN WITHSTAND IT.” His golem mech’s fist taps its chest. “YOU WILL END UP LIKE THE DUMB BRUTE AT THIS RATE, TURNING INTO A MONSTER, CORRUPTED AND MINDLESS. YOU NEED -POWER-, MAHOU.”

G-get… get that dinosaur out of here…!” you call out to her, struggling to point to the unconscious triceratops. “Before… before he ends up hurt…” She looks to you hesitantly, clear worry on her normally neutral face. But she gives you an affirming nod, and quickly bolts towards him and brings him out of the chamber. Zarid tries to help Sachie to her feet as the waves of chaotic power calm.

“YOU WOULD SHOW MERCY TO SUCH A FOOL?” the Knight questions you, flaming sword pointed at you.

“He doesn’t… deserve any more punishment than this failure.” You end up needing to stab the Sword of Braves into the ground and bracing yourself against it to keep yourself standing as you continue to feel the Magic surge through your body. It feels like your skin’s about to split open and then ignite, the emerald aura around you surging higher. Agh. Everything hurts. “And you… your attention’s supposed to be on me, isn’t it?!”

He looks down curiously at you. “YOU KNOW NOTHING OF WHAT WILL BE DEMANDED OF YOU. YOU LACK THE WISDOM, THE POWER, TO HANDLE THIS ON YOUR OWN. YOU WOULD NEED A FORM LIKE THIS TO EVEN HOPE TO HOLD ON TO THAT STRENGTH.”

“F-fine… if that’s what it takes… show me…” You grip the sword tight, legs wobbling. “Show me… what I need to hold on to a form like that. Do I need tranquil emotions to keep hold of it all, is that it?”

“LEARNING TO STEEL YOUR MIND WILL HELP YOU DISPLAY THE WISDOM YOU NEED. BUT THAT IS NOT ALL.” The Knight’s sword lowers. “YOU WILL NEED TO CHANNEL THE MAGICS INTO A FORM FIT FOR THEM. THIS POWER IS A STEP BEYOND WHAT YOUR BODY CAN SUSTAIN. IF YOU WISH TO TRULY TAKE HOLD, CHANNEL THE MAGIC INTO A FORM FITTING SUCH POWER.” His golem mech’s fist hits its chest again. “AS WE ONCE DID TO HOLD BACK THE ENEMIES OF MAN. DO THAT, MAHOU, AND YOU WILL SHOW YOU HAVE THE POWER YOU NEED TO TAKE CONTROL.”

…He wants you to make something like THAT? Can… can you even do that? …You do make this armor when you transform. Well. Principle behind it is… basically the Clothes Beam…

The image starts to take form in your mind. You look over the body of the golem mech the Knight is in. How it’s shaped, how it has slightly organic takes mixed in with what looks like stone, yet not quite either. Sort of… beetle-like, yet still its own thing. In your mind’s eye, you flash through the growth cycle of such an insect. From grub to full bug. You’ve… you’ve got it. You’ve got it! You let out a ferocious yell and pull it up from the ground. You’ll take control of this magic! You WILL calm it, then make it your own!

Your body floats upward as a swirl of emerald energy surrounds you and structures begin to take shape. You take the slightly insect-like design and modify it, using what bits you think make it coherent. You take a slightly grub-like form initially, making sure there’s enough room for your body to fit into, and giving it your own spin. More… knightly in demeanor. A pointed chest to give your own body more protection. Some more organic-looking, flexible bits around the torso and limbs to give it better maneuverability. Some wings to help it maneuver in air. Some armor around the waist and legs, make sure it’s decently protected. Extra material around the shins, and legs, help manage the weight distribution. Aaaaand for just some added flair, a jointed “ponytail” of sorts to go with the crown-like spikes on the head.

Monoeye? Eeeeehhh… those are cool but nah. Maybe not as many as the Knight’s has. Keep it the normal 2. And last touch, colors. Green, with a golden trim, and a deep purple for the pseudo-ogranic material on the waist, limbs, and joints. You take a moment to gauge your surroundings with the thing. You can see outside it, though it’s… not quite what you expect from some shows you’ve seen. Heck, even from some actual ones you’ve been in. Much more… well, arcane’s probably the best word for it. It’s like it’s feeding right into your senses. You’re braced against the torso cavity’s back, limbs are decently protected, and not too cramped. No… real “controls” to speak of, at least not in the traditional sense. It’s more you manipulating it through your Magic.

…Your Magic. You finally realize that it’s calmed. You look down again and see the two shards side by side in a sort of V-shape on your chest armor. No longer chaotic and wild. Calmed. You can’t help but smile.

“Just… just one thing I’d like to ask, while I still have the time, sir Knight.” You take a moment to make sure you’re able to get the “controls” understood. “You call me Mahou. You clearly know what that is. Before I accomplish this task you ask of me, can you please tell me, what… is the history with that term, for your people? How do you know it, how do you know I’m one?”

He seems almost confused. “YOU HAVE THIS POWER YET YOU SEEM TO KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT IT.”

“Whatever they were, I’m probably one of the first in a very, very long time.” you explain. “I happened upon this power on my own. I didn’t even know what it was called until a Demon called me it.”

The flames on his sword vanish. “…I SEE. THEN I SHALL TELL YOU A TALE, GIRL. MANY EONS BEFORE YOUR TIME, THERE EXISTED THOSE TRULY SKILLED IN MAGIC. HUMANS, MAGES AND WARRIORS THAT WOULD USE THEIR MAGIC TO EMPOWER THEMSELVES. WE KNIGHTS USE POWER LEARNED FROM THEM TO PROTECT HUMANITY FROM THE DEMONS AND MONSTERS WHO THREATENED THE WORLD. THE MAHOU WERE OFTEN WOMEN LIKE YOURSELF. AS WE MADE THE WORLD SAFE, OUR POWER WAS NOT NEEDED.”

He walks toward you slowly. “IN TRUTH, IT WAS DANGEROUS TO THE COMMON FOLK. LEFT UNCHECKED, IT WOULD BRING ONLY RUIN. OUR ENTOMBMENT HERE WAS TO GUARANTEE THAT SUCH MAGIC COULD NOT FALL INTO THE WRONG HANDS. HEROES OF COURAGE, WISDOM, POWER, ALL SET TO WATCH OVER THIS REMNANT OF A BYGONE ERA. THIS POWER WOULD ONLY GROW STRONGER FROM THOSE WHO WOULD SEEK IT, MAGIC OVERFLOWING IF NOT KEPT IN CHECK. FOOLS LIKE THAT BRUTE COULD NOT HOPE TO HANDLE SUCH ANCIENT POWER.” He shows you the crystal shard. You can notice the vines still creeping along the tiles, even if they’ve slowed. “YOU HAVE SHOWN YOU CAN. ARE YOU READY?”

You nod. “I’m ready. And I’ll ensure that such power doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. You have my word.”

“I WILL HOLD YOU TO THAT.” He gives you the shard. His golem mech fades, and his body falls to the ground. The red glow surges in your own mech’s palm, reacting to the shards on your armor. It then sort of “vanishes” into your mech, only to reappear alongside the other two. The blue and red shards set flanking the green one, the trio letting out a bright flash that erupts around your armor, and then your mech. Agh. AGH. Th-there’s that pain again. Not as much as before, but god does it feel like every muscle aches, every centimeter of skin like a thousand gnats biting it, even your hair feels like it’s being pulled on.

But you won’t let this stop you. You refuse to. You thrust open the mech’s arms, and your emerald aura surrounds it. Jets of Fire, flashes of Light, sparks of Lightning, splashes of Water, shards of Ice, gusts of Wind, and lastly a dark, heavy Shadow all surround the mech. And then… something else. They all harmonize into a singular pulse of power. The shimmering air loses its luster, the creeping vines stop and start to wither. The Magical power that surrounded the place… has finally calmed.

…And as it does, the massive form of the mech around you vanishes as well. You fall from where you were and barely are able to muster any strength to fly. 19 has to swoop in and catch you before you hit the ground. She sets you on your feet, you making sure the Sword of Braves is back in its sheath… and you see the trio of crystal shards have reformed into one singular crystal, resting in the palm of your left hand. All right time to get out of- ow. Oww. Oowww. Legs are jelly. Can barely walk. Gotta… have 19 help you. As you approach Sachie and Zarid, you see the android girl smile. “It would seem you were successful, Izumi.”

So, how I've been playing her, Izzy has only heard the name "Legend of Zelda" and that's about it. More of a PlayStation girl. Chi-Chi keeps giving her Mature titles like GTA so her developing brain won't rot with kiddy stuff.

You finally leave the ruins after putting the trio of Knights to rest. Body is still very drained, but it’s finally all over. The crystal’s still in your hand. As you leave, though, you see Yajirobe swatting at some fairies pestering him. “Hey! HEY! Knock it off!”

“Do… do I even want to ask?” you mutter out.

“I’ve learned it’s better not to. Go with the flow.” Zarid sighs out. “Hey, Sachie, when we got hit by that wave of Magic, did you-” He turns his head to where she was, you doing the same. She’s not there.

“Hold still, I’ve got a bottle!” Sachie yells out, running at Yajirobe. That gets the fairies’ attention, and the one who’d spoken to you before looks back, almost shocked.

“...Mahou. You… you did it.” her tiny voice almost squeaks. “These… ruins. They’ve calmed.”

“Eheh heh… a-all in a day’s work.” you reply to the fairy. “In truth I couldn’t-” Sachie keeps trying to bottle the fairies. “…Sachie please don’t bottle them.”

She looks back at you. “Why not?”

“It’s rude. And you’ve only got one bottle.” you explain. Her eyes look down at the bottle and she seems to ponder on something for a moment, a few of the fairies she was bothering starting to fly around her, buzzing and tugging at her. “Saaaachie.”

“Okaaaaay, okaaaaay…” She waves her hand and heads back.

“Ahem. I couldn’t have done this without some help from my friends. Heck, Sachie and 19? They’re mahous too.”

Zarid snorts. “Well. A way to phrase it. Also hi, still here.”

You flinch. “S-sorry. You, uh, know what I mean.”

The fairy seems confused. “…No they aren’t. All of you have Magic, but only you-” the fairy points right at you, “-are Mahou. I can feel it.”

“Okay, gonna have some questions on that in a bit, but first…” You look to Yajirobe again. “Can, uh, you stop pestering him please?”

“He knows what he did.” she growls.

You gasp, then ask quietly, “Did… did he eat… one of…?”

“I DIDN’T EAT ANY OF THESE FLYING TOOTHPICKS!” Yajirobe yells out. “I don’t remember nuthin’ you pests would be mad about!”

“You stole from us, samurai!” the fairy yells in an almost squeaking voice. You have to force yourself not to giggle. “Took what was ours!”

The fairies around him start to chant “Thief! Thief!” over and over. Zarid finds this curious. “What did he take from you, exactly?”

“Our dust!” they shout at him in unison.

You blink, then repeat, “Dust.”

“Dust.” Zarid repeats as well, flatly.

“Duuuuust~” Sachie draws out in a kinda sing-song tone.

Yajirobe is bewildered for a moment. He then snaps his fingers. “You mean that really good spice I found when I was 13?”

The fairies start shouting angrily and incoherently at him. You facepalm. Zarid pinches the ridge of his nose. Sachie starts to laugh. 19 brings up the obvious question, “Do you still have it?”

“Well yeah!” Yajirobe states. “I only put it on the really tasty meats. Gotta savor it.”

The fairy that was in front of you bolts at him and grabs his gi, shaking it with strength you didn’t think something so small could muster. “GIVE IT BACK GIVE IT BACK GIVE IT BAAAAACK!”

“Okay, okay, jeeze! I’ll tell Korin we need to give it up.”

With that finally calming them down, you start to explain all that happened in there with the Knights, and further, what happened to the (thankfully still unconscious) triceratops guy and his cohorts. You ask the fairy who spoke to you before if that was why she warned you away from that place, the fairy confirming so. Which leads to the last question you have for them, “You want to tell me more about how you know so much about these abilities?”

“Long ago, our kind helped those who would fight against monsters like the Makyans and Demons and the like. We would help them channel their power, help them utilize it better. Guides, in a sense. A Mahou like you though seems like you are beyond the ability of any of us to guide further, given you could calm what we couldn’t.”

“Heh, thanks.” You think, at least. Guide might be helpful. Oh well. Maybe you could ask Yosei? Questions for later. At least feeling in your legs is returning, though you still feel drained. “So. Anyone have an idea on what to do with the dinosaurs?”

Yajirobe is about to speak, only for 19 to interrupt him, “Their King will probably send for them at some point. Best not to have a certain individual eat any of them.”

“I wasn’t gonna…” Yajirobe grumbles.

“They still were rather violent.” Zarid points out. “But did they do anything… well, illegal?”

“Eh, we’re not the kinds of people who should be dealing with this.” Sachie comments. “Maybe give some warnings to the folks who DO handle this kinda thing though.”

“That’s… rather astute.” Zarid comments.

You look to the crystal in your hand. “Well, I should get this checked out, and quick…” Hmm, but where to?

Plus… well, we can show them that not all humans are bad.” you explain. “Bit of kindness goes a long way.” Plus maybe train ‘em to fend off the thugs on their own. Like that movie where... wait a second. “Oh, one more thing!” You give a polite curtsy. “Thank you for your help. Best wishes, kind fairies.” You then bolt over to Yajirobe’s car. “I call shotgun!”

You explain what you went through to Maple, then check in with mom, dad, and grandpa on the dinosaur situation. Finally you get in contact with Trip as you all head back to Korin’s Tower, leaving Yajirobe and heading up to the Lookout. When you arrive, you see her and Mr. Popo waiting for you. You can sense Yosei and the space lemurs deeper within. The blue-haired Kami gives a polite nod and smile. “Izumi. It is good to see you again, and your friends as well. Zarid, Sachie, 19, thank you all for your help before.”

“Thank you, ma’am.” Zarid bows his head back.

“So, filled you in on what went down, but here’s the actual crystal itself.” You hold out your hand, letting her look at it. “Had to make that construct… mech… thing in order to utilize it properly and finally calm the Magic down there. I can still feel a substantial amount of energy within it, just… dormant, I guess.”

“Very curious. I had no idea such relics still lingered.” Mr. Popo comments.

“You mentioned that you had to heal the corrupted triceratops in order to obtain the second shard, correct?” Trip questions, and you nod in response. “How exactly did you heal him?”

“I kinda had to force it out like I did with Baby’s nanomachines. Just sorta… pumped Magic through them to force it out.” You rub the back of your neck shyly. “I’ve… been having some ideas from this… ahem… show I’ve watched with Pantea on how to make it less of a ‘brute force’ push and more a specific kind of… well, healing.”

Trip smiles. “I can help you learn, if that is what you’re asking. What specifically is your goal here?”

“In truth, I want to hone my powers and expand my skillset beyond what I’ve just been doing in my Mahou form. There’s more to Magic than just the Elements I’ve been using in it.” You look at the crystal again, bringing your hand down. “Ms. Trip, what do you think I should do to gain better control of my Magic? Especially with this new responsibility I’ve been tasked with. I want to make sure I do those Knights right, keep something like this from falling into the wrong hands, but not let it go unused and eventually run wild.” You rub the back of your neck. “I think learning some way to heal things from corruption without brute forcing it would be a good start, but I want your advice.”

Trip nods understandingly. “Using Magic to heal is a good way to start, but I have some other things that may help you look to that ultimate goal. The skills I have learned, and what I have shown to Maple, Chi-chi, Tien, and more, work to counter the Magic demons have used to corrupt and empower things. I offer those skills only if you wish to learn, though if you desire improving your skills with Magic specifically, I suggest looking into ways you can share your power with others.”

“Share it?” you ask.

She nods. “This will help you learn to better utilize your Magic in general. If you can learn to grant others boons through your Magic, you will be able to manage it to a far greater degree overall.”

“So, healing, and boosting others, huh…?” you wonder aloud, then looking back to your friends. “Oh! One more thing. Do you have anything for them?” You motion to Zarid, Sachie, and 19. “I don’t wanna take up all your time, and I think they could gain a lot from your advice.”

Finally, Maple teleports in with a large tome in her hands. “Sorry that took so long! Just had to help Krillin deal with his clone’s corpse, had to hop back home to get this.” She rubs her head. “Was not what I was prepared for today.”

“Izzy?” Maple’s voice snaps you back to reality.

“I’m here, I’m here!” Focus, Izzy, focus. “Okay, so, Ms. Trip said I should try to learn how to share my Magical power with others. What do you think, aunt Maple?”

“I’ve had some ideas on that before. Combination moves and the like. Though this sounds a bit more advanced…” She taps her chin as she flips through the book. “You said you were able to form this whole mech using the Magic those crystals had, right? Are you able to bring it out on command? Do you need the crystals to create it?”

“I’m… honestly not entirely sure. I felt extremely exhausted after doing it, so it wasn’t JUST the crystals, and it feels sorta like my Mahou form, just… a step beyond, almost.” you explain.

“So if I want to learn how to share my abilities with others, might learning how you utilize those skills be a good idea? One of the reasons I thought coming up here to talk with Trip would be wise. I don’t mean to like, learn all of ‘em, but just enough to understand what to look toward, some pointers.”

Maple taps her chin curiously. “All righty. The Noble Eightfold Path is about a kind of… mindset, really. Presenting things like a declaration of some truth, and using that aspect amplified into action.”

You blink. “…Oooookay.”

“Eheh, I know it sounds weird at first, but more to the point, the abilities I’ve learned stem from that kind of thing, and become an outward expression of it. Samma Vaca, Right Speech, is a declaration that wards away corrupting influences, like the ones Towa is capable of. While Samma Kammanta, Right Action, works to restore and rejuvenate one’s strength, and can be declared towards others.” Maple starts flipping through the tome. “Demons are aware of similar abilities, though not quite to the same effect. Using your own Magic, you might be able to have your own take on it.”

You place your elbows on your knees and rest your chin on your palms, looking down at the book. “I do also want to learn some kind of healing through Magic… if that’s possible.”

“Chuu Lee was able to combine Wind Magic with healing. So it should be. Perhaps using Water Magic as a basis, or Light, maybe both. I bookmarked something about it a while back…” your aunt affirms, flipping through it more. “What else are you planning to do with it?”

“Well like, sharing my Magic in some manner to… I dunno, maybe make others capable of transforming like I do?” You tap your fingers against your cheeks, then look to your aunt. You… get an idea. “The Clothes Beam seems to be the basis of my Transformation, as… odd as that might sound. Maybe I could try it with you, give you a new outfit?”

She raises an eyebrow. “Maybe. What about the mech suit thing?”

“I could also try bringing it out again.” You clap your hands together. “Maybe both! Really test the Clothes Beam! …Or maybe, Mahou Materialization.” You look up in thought. “…Witch Crafting?”

Maple laughs. “All right. I’m willing to try.”

“Izumi!” Maple runs to your side. “Hey, hey, you okay?”

“Mmmhhh…” you groan into the ground. “Think I’m out of juice.”

Maple sighs in relief, helping you sit up. You feel a bit dizzy… heh, dizzy Izzy. Maple checks your head, looking you over. “Hm. Yeah, you’re fairly drained. Might want to take some time to get some actual rest before transforming again. I doubt you could even use your Mahou form at this point.” She takes a deep breath and then seems to mutter something… and you feel some of your strength return. “That’ll help a bit, but I’d advise waiting on this for a while.”

You see Sachie and Zarid walking back with Trip and 19, Zarid and Trip actually quite deep in conversation, Sachie doing her best to pay attention, while 19 seems a bit more sure of herself now.

“All righty Izzy!” She pats your head and the both of you stand. You can’t pretend your legs are all wobbly this time. Maple gets this weird look on her face for a moment, moving her hand to the top of her head. She then sighs.

“Is something wrong?”

“No. No. Just… just having to face reality.” she mumbles.

“...You mean how I’m taller than you and dad?” you ask. Maple flinches cartoonishly. You try to hide your giggle. “I do mean it, I’ll take some time to work on this once I’ve rested properly.”

“All right, all right. I’ll have a few things ready to try out. Hold on to that crystal of yours, we’ve got to do some analysis of it too.”

“Thanks, auntie Maple, and I will.” You walk on over to Zarid, Sachie, and 19, giving them a wave. “Hey! You guys done with your stuff? What’s going on over here?”

“I believe we have had a productive discussion.” Trip responds, looking over the three with her.

“Yeah. I have a few things to work towards.” Zarid tells you. “Some new goals for training, and more. I think when I get back I’ll try to seek out my Earth’s Kami, and maybe look into some things from back home.”

“Your home-home?” Sachie asks. “Oooh, been a while since I was last there!”

“You have something to work on yourself, Ms. Momochi.” Trip mentions.

She lowers her head a little. “Oooookaaaaay…” She taps her show against the stones. “Guess I do need to start checking in with Udon… if I can… hrmn.”

“I have things to work towards too.” 19 tells you. “Beyond just training. I have… things I really want to do.”

“Heh. Okay, let’s say we talk about all of it-”

“Over lunch!” Sachie calls out. “I wanna taste some dinosaur steak still!”

19 taps her chin. “…There is a famous dish over in Mifan.”

The ninja girl almost bounces on her heels. “Sounds like a plan! Come on, let’s go!”

“I did notice that seemed to be a sour spot for her.” Zarid adds in.

“So, what might you be talking with your Kami about?” you ask the boy.

Zarid places his hands together. “Apprenticeship.”

You do a double-take. “Wait, what?”

“It’s a long-term thing, really, but I want to check with him to see if it’s possible. Might take the better part of a decade or two, but it’s worth looking into, I think.” He sits back. “I’ve been recalling some things from back home that might be relevant to it, too.”

“Aside from this meal, though, is there anything the two of you would like to do before heading back?” 19 questions the pair.

The waitress comes by and takes your orders. Nearby though, you can sense someone strong approaching. Is… that Vegeta? Huh, he’s with some others too. Sachie and Zarid use this time to think over 19’s question. “Wwweeeeeeell… kinda.” Sachie looks over her painted nails. “But Zarid, you go first.”

“Putting me on the spot, huh?” He shakes his head. “I guess there is one thing that really comes to mind. Previously, Gohan, myself, Tapion, and Minotia used the… I believe it was called the ‘Pendulum Room’ to stop this powerful demon that was trying to break free of it. I’d like one last go in there.”

“Aww, now mine doesn’t sound anywhere near as cool…” Sachie mumbles.

“What’s yours?” you ask.

“I wanted to spend some time doin’ some shopping and makeover stuff with you.” Sachie places her elbows on the table and rests her chin on her fingers. “Also you! 19! You could come wiiiith!~”

“I am… not sure about that.” the android girl responds.

You clap your hands together excitedly. “Shopping? Makeovers? Why didn’t you say so sooner?!”

Sachie’s face lights up, and she lets out a girly squeal. “Really?!”

“Absolutely!” you affirm. “And 19, come on, I think you’d have a lot of fuuuuun~”

She gives you a sceptical look, but starts to think the idea over. 19 then asks, “What is fun about it?”

You blink. “Eh?”

“If you have fun with such activities, what makes them so enjoyable?”

Sachie sits up. “Lots of stuff! Trying on new outfits, and looks, seeing how you can be fashionable, finding what styles match your current mood,” She gives a V-sign. “Girl you GOTTA try it some time.” Food finally arrives, Sachie’s face lighting up as she gets her dinosaur steak (actually hadrosaur leg, though cooked like steak), carving a little bit with fork and knife and taking a bite. Her eyes go wide.

Zarid laughs. “Well that’s a look I know. Lemme guess, it’s your new favorite meal?”

Sachie doesn’t even reply to that, going at the steak in a way that reminds you of your cousins and uncle. “…I’d. Uh. Take that as a yes?” you answer for her.

After getting about halfway through it, she lets out a satisfied sigh. “It’s like mutton and turtle soup, but the soup is almost a kind of sauce and aaaaaaa~!”

“Remember to breathe.” Zarid tells her, finally trying some of his meal. “Oh. Huh, it’s like Mongolian Barbecue.”

“Emperor Pilaf likes that style of cooking.” 19 states. “Some of the restaurants in Mifan are places he frequents. Helps him stay close to his people.”

“Huh, with a title like Emperor I’d think someone wouldn’t really bother, but shows what I know.” Zarid comments. He then looks at 19, noticing she hasn’t ordered anything. “Not going to have some yourse-?” He then realizes what he’s asking. “…Aheh. Sorry.”

“Unlike you, my body does not refuel through consumption of organic matter, no.” She crosses her arms. “I do appreciate the social activity that comes with it, though.”

“Yeah!” Sachie affirms. “That’s part of the fun of it! You let your whole look become a canvas to paint yourself onto.” She then goes back to munching on the dinosaur steak.

“Still not entirely sure I get it, but hey, if it’s what you want, go for it.” Zarid gives her a thumb’s up.

“So, what are your plans with the Pendulum Room? You wanna see how far back it goes? I’ve wondered about that myself. Heck, given this crystal, I think going back to the time of those Knights could help give some insight into those crystals.”

“I saw some things in there that made me very curious. Fighters with lots of varied techniques beyond just the ones from this world. I want to see if I can visit at least some of them again.”

“Ooooh, cool fighters with cool techniques, huh?” Sachie asks.

He nods. “Heh, something like that.”

“Hmm… don’t know if we’ll be able to check in with the Land of Korin or Yurin’s Forest before you guys leave. Shame.”

Sachie smiles at you. “Always next time. Hanging out with you is fun, my friends back home are gonna think you’re the coolest girl in your world when I tell them all about what you’ve done.”

You wave your fingers slightly, then add, “But note, when you meet up with your friends back home, you have to remember, you’re not talking about an average ‘cool girl.’”

Sachie gasps. “I’m not?”

“Indeed, you are speaking to one who has surpassed such limits. Yes. The Legendary Super Cool Girl!” You laugh haughtily. Sachie mimics your laughter, then the both of you laugh genuinely. You feel like someone is glaring in your direction very judgingly.

“I am… not sure I get it.” 19 adds in.

Zarid facepalms. “Their minds operate in their own little world.”

Noticing the look on his before his palm blocked it, you tell him, “Actually, um… if you’d rather do something else, Zarid, none of us would hold it against you. It’s nice having you around, but you don’t have to stick with us while we try for some more, ah, ‘girly’ stuff.”

His eyebrows raise, but he smiles and laughs softly. “Heh, I’m not that bothered by it. Sachie’s done substantially worse on her own before.”

“Oi. Hey. Rude.” she mutters in protest.

“Just… try not to make me into a living shopping cart.” he requests.

“Hah, you kidding? Carrying a ton of stuff and balancing it all is decent training.” you tell him. “Mom’s done it plenty of times before.” You stretch. “Anyway, 19! How might you want to express yourself? I mentioned hair, because for real you got some pretty hair, but anything else come to mind? Ooh, maybe some jewelry!”

She taps her chin. “…I guess we shall find out, won’t we?” she asks with a smile.

After paying for the meal, you all start on the little shopping trip, you and Sachie trying some of the local dress, and even some interesting alien outfits (something Sachie herself is actually surprisingly familiar with), but both of you do your best to try and find some things for 19. Some more lacy outfits, surprisingly cute on her. Fishnet? A little more… mature, but she does kinda have the body for it. …Why DOES she have the body for it?

“Okay so, maybe more of a gothic lolita look?” Sachie questions. “Aaaaalso um. Wow you got some… curves… for someone who looks as young as you do.”

Oh thank god it’s not just you. “Kinda… reminds me of aunt Maple, I guess?”

“So are you saying I should… make those features more apparent?” 19 asks.

The two of you cough and mumble. “Well uh, not specifically trying to have you go into that. Just. Saying that it’s there.”

Sachie mumbles very quietly, “Don’t have a… bellybutton too...”

“I would think not. This body was made, not grown.” 19 tells her.

“I mean! Just… something that might draw the eye. So depends on if you want to draw attention to it or now.” she explains.

“Ah, so similar to your birthmark.” 19 assumes.

Sachie blushes and places her hands on her rear. “That’s… one comparison. For me it’s a little embarrassing, so I do my best not to draw attention to it.”

19 looks to you. “I see. Izumi, you hold your hair back normally, do you intend to have people draw their gaze more towards your forehead?”

You make an exaggerated flinch. “I-it’s not that I want people to think I’ve got a five-head! Just… kinda how it happens.”

She tilts her head. “So, is that why your Mahou form brings it into a ponytail?” She then looks down. “…Peppa keeps her hair in a ponytail too.”

“That’s just more for practicality’s sake. Easier to keep it out of your face.” you explain. “You want to try it?”

She looks at herself in the mirror. “...I think I’ll go with braiding my hair, actually.”

“Oooh, perfect!~” Sachie calls out. “Take advantage of that pretty hair of yours~!”

As you and Sachie work to help her braid it, a genuine and appreciative smile appears on her face. “Thank you for this.”

“Hm?”

“I… think I actually do like this. So thank you for encouraging me.”

“Ooh, ooh, just one sec~!” Sachie bolts away and then comes back with a pair of small silvery objects. “Theeere we go~! They’re clip-ons since your ears haven’t really been pierced, but I think they’d look adorable on you!”

Sachie keeps looking over the Android girl. “Sssssso.” she skips slightly, Zarid rejoining you all with a few bags of his own, to your surprise. Sachie doesn’t notice though, and taps her fingers together. “We’ve given you some ideas, you have anything you want to try next?”

“You have shown me how to use it as a way to express myself. Is there anything else I should try?” she asks.

“Weeeell, you can use it to look pretty foooor… other people.” Sachie tries to hint coyly.

“You mean as a method of attraction?” 19 gets right to the point.

Sachie pouts. “It loses its… oomph when you say it like that.”

“She’s got a point.” you add in. “And I know you and Chiaotzu have been… ahem. Dating. Think there might be something you can dress up in that… he’d like?” You personally fine the notion just a bit on the unusual side, but you’re really not one to judge.

“He hasn’t expressed much interest in that.” she responds.

Sachie hangs her head low. “Girl. Giiiiirl. Guys are totally, totally not going to be upfront with that. They can be super clueless sometimes.”

“Hi, still here.” Zarid remarks sarcastically, finally catching Sachie’s attention.

“Y-you know what I mean.” she points her finger accusingly.

Zarid smirks just a little. “In any case, guys can have very varied tastes. If he likes you in your more normal outfits, he might not really notice more subtle changes in dress. But at the same time, he might be more shy if you go for something more… outlandish.” He points his thumb at Sachie. “She can verify.”

Her face goes beet red. “Zaaaariiiiid!”

“Ohohoho?~ Do tell, this sounds very interesting.” You grin deviously.

The other blonde girl pouts. “Izzzzyyyyyyy…”

“If you don’t, I will.” Zarid tells her.

“This is bullyiiiiing…” She childishly whines, causing you and Zarid to laugh. “F-fine… okay, so, I… I tried to, uh, get a date with a certain someone.” She sighs. “His name’s Sensu. He’s kinda this really cool, mysterious type, but like…” She glares at Zarid. “Someone warned me he was bad news.”

The boy laughs quietly to himself. “And that someone was right.”

Sachie sticks out her tongue at him. “And I… look, I kinda liked him, but he never paid attention to me. So I went for more… outlandish attempts.” She rubs the back of her neck. “When I finally did get him to talk to me, he…” She seems to shrivel up. “…mistook me for a member of the Yakuza, specifically an, um… ‘escort’.”

“And why did he do that?” Zarid asks, knowing exactly why.

“Look how was -I- supposed to know that he was one too?!” she grumbles at him loudly.

19 looks over Sachie curiously. “So I should not go overboard in trying to impress anyone I am attracted to, else I will be mistaken for a-”

“ANYWAY THAT’S ALL IN THE PAST NOW, RIGHT ZARID?!” Sachie yells.

Hoo boy. Not what you were expecting. “To, uh, clarify, 19,” you start awkwardly, trying to turn the conversation away from... that. “I haven’t really… tried, uh, dressing up for Tapion myself… but… hmm…” You start to ponder for a moment.

Sachie, relieved that the attention was turned away from her, quickly gets back to her usual self’s chipper attitude. “You think you should?~”

You cross your arms and look up contemplatively as you all walk. “Well, I’m not entirely sure. I… know he was friends with a princess a long time ago, but I kinda don’t want to compare myself to her. He never really implied any sort of… deeper relationship between himself and her, but at the same time, if they were closer than I’m really thinking they were, I don’t want to kinda bring up some memories that might be a bit painful for him.”

“He did return to his world though, didn’t he?” Zarid asks.

“Well yeah, but it was one so far removed from the one he left. He said he and his brother were treated like… well, almost celebrities while they were there. Living legends.” you reply. “But… still slightly distant. Familiar, but distant. And I… I dunno. I’d just… I want him to be able to feel like he belongs somewhere.” You sigh softly. “Does that make sense?”

“Yeah.” Zarid… nods solemnly.

You smile softly. “Glad he and Minotia were so ready to take up Supreme Kai’s offer. Maybe it’ll be what they need.”

Eventually, you spot the unmistakable sight of Vegeta and family, the Saiyan prince in actual Mifan dress for once. Casual, but unmistakably Mifan. He… seems to be actually be spending time with them. He doesn’t seem that interested, but Shao and Baozi at least seem happy. Speaking of, Baozi takes notice of you almost immediately. The kid waves to you, causing Vegeta to look over… and he seems to give an unsure look to you all. Especially Sachie. …Why’s he looking at her like that? It’s like he heard her tell a joke he’s not sure is funny or not.

You start walking in their direction, Baozi’s face brightening up. “Hi Izzy!”

“Hey there lil’ Emperor in the making. Still got a good groove going, or you trying a new one?” You chuckle to yourself at the joke you’ve made.

“Heh, my groove hasn’t been thrown off yet.” he replies confidently. “Sensed you nearby a while ago. Hanging out with your friends again?”

“And trying some really good food.” Sachie pipes in.

Shao gives you a respectful bow. “We’ve been enjoying a little family day together. Vegeta promised.”

“I must say that it is surprising that you are willing to go through with that. I assumed you would be training with your new form.” 19 comments.

“Don’t assume I’m going soft, talking trash can.” Vegeta snipes at her, though you don’t really get any malice behind that. Well, not his usual amount anyway.

“Vegetaaaa. Isn’t there something you want to say?” Shao asks, a sly grin appearing on her face.

Grumbling to himself, he then looks to Sachie again. “You. Ninja girl.”

She points at herself. “Me?”

Vegeta rolls his eyes. “No, the other one hiding in the shadows, like an ACTUAL ninja.”

All of you hear someone yelp in the distance, followed by trash cans tipping over and several cats shrieking. Sachie looks in that direction for a moment. “…I think she left.”

Vegeta pinches the ridge of his nose. Shao pokes the side of his head. “No blasting. Now, say what you were wanting to.”

“Fine. Just. You.” He points at Sachie after bringing his hand down. “Tell me, where did you learn that sphere technique? The one you used against that Kai in the Tournament.”

She blinks. “Oh! You mean the Rasengan! My dad taught me it.”

Vegeta grumbles, muttering under his breath, “Bah. Even sounds like her technique…” Looking away, the Saiyan prince seems to have to force himself to say what comes next. “…I wish to thank you. It proved to be Baby’s undoing.”

Sachie opens her mouth in amazement. “Whaaaaat? You mean you learned it all on your own?”

“Stupid name for the technique, I could come up with a better one…” he mumbles under his breath again.

Sachie ignores that entirely and instead almost jumps up with excitement. “I’m gonna tell dad that! Might be terrified you learned it so easily but wow, my dad’s technique, saving your world!” She looks to you with joy. “Is that cool or what? Beat a god and that Baby monster thing!”

“That’s not all.” Shao tugs at the long sleeve of Vegeta’s outfit. “What else?”

Vegeta turns his attention to you, and like he’s trying to swim through peanut butter, he says, “Thank you for making sure Baby didn’t take over my body… Izumi.”
