Good Luck and Have Fun! It's Show Time!
>>
You wait in a dark alleyway while Birdie guards your position from afar. She promised that she wouldn’t eavesdrop or try to sneak a peek at your face while you changed, and you trust her enough to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Suddenly, a blue blur speeds past you in a fraction of a second, leaving only a metal cube with a note attached to it.

The note reads:

“Stay safe, love.”
-K

It’s the simple things that really keep this relationship alive.

---------

You equip your Techadon armor and contain the symbiote in an airtight capsule, before carefully setting it on the ground. You have no doubt that the “blue blur” will return to pick it up shortly.

It feels good to be back in your old suit! The feeling of safety and security that it gives you is overwhelming during these dark times. Especially after what almost happened to Cooper.

Once you’ve changed costumes, you return to the rooftops with Birdie. She happily kicks her legs whilst humming cheerfully under the warm night air. Once she notices you, she smiles and performs a handspring, before transitioning into a back-flip and landing right in front of you with the utmost grace.

[Birdie]: Ready to roll, partner?

[Wade]: Ready as I’ll ever be.

The two of you begin jumping from rooftop to rooftop as you casually discuss the state of Bellwood. And it wouldn’t hurt to do a little disaster relief while you chat.

[Birdie]: So, what do you wanna know? I’m an open book!

You really wish she wouldn't be so enthusiastic while your city was destroying itself.

>”Tell me about Tiger Moth. How come I’ve never heard of him?”
>”What can you tell me about somebody named Blast Shadow?”
>”Where else did those bombs hit? Something tells me they were meant to be more than a distraction.”
>”I saw Time-Out Agents in the city. What’re they up to?”
>”I’m not seeing alot of help from Providence or The Plumbers. Any particular reason for that?”

[Wade]: Tell me about Tiger Moth. How come I’ve never heard of him?

Birdie glides along a set of power cables and swings down a light pole in order to reach the street. You follow her down to see that she’s attempting to put out a massive apartment fire.

[Birdie]: Teach says that he’s a new guy. A little birdie told us that some kid’s been assaulting cops and stringing them up with webs. He’s faster and stronger than teach, but not smarter.

You transform into Splash Damage and point your hydro cannons as the building, before unleashing a torrent of pressurized water high into the air. So as to reduce the damage from your powerful weapons, you let the water harmlessly rain down upon the blazing inferno.

[Birdie]: Hold on a sec...

Without hesitation, Birdie jumps into a nearby window and disappears into a curtain of fire. The onlookers gasp and shout as they watch from afar. And after a few moments, she comes bursting through another window, while carrying about 7 people all on her own. Some of which are fully grown men and women.

[Birdie]: Never...fear...Birdie...is...heavy…

She attempts to shout her signature catchphrase, but is obviously struggling with the burden of carrying so many people at once. You help her to set them down safely so that the two of you can move on.

---------------

You time out early and take to the rooftops again, desperately searching for people in need.

[Wade]: So what can you tell me about a man named Blast Shadow?

Birdie seems surprised when you mention his name.

[Birdie]: You’ve seen him?!

She flawlessly keeps up with you during your rooftop run, despite not paying any attention to her surroundings.

[Wade]: Yeah. He was trying to kidnap The Red Pill. How do you know about him?

[Birdie]: He’s been popping up all over the world like some sort of global terrorist. Me and the rest of the birds have been dying to bust him, but he always slips away somehow.

Doesn’t help that he can phase through solid matter.

[Wade]: You said he was a terrorist? Do you think he had something to do with those bombs going off?

[Birdie]: I’m positive. Teach said something about how the bombs only seemed to target areas without alot of people.

[Wade]: So what was the point of-?

Just then, a massive explosion rocks the building that you’re standing on. And the direction it’s coming from is…

[Birdie]: Oh no…

The look of terror on her face is clear. However, you’re a bit distracted by a snow white dove that’s been circling her head for some time now.

[Wade]: That explosion came from the Time-Out Supermax prison.

[Birdie]: And that’s where they hold-

[Wade]: Shiva…

She’s the most powerful villain you’ve ever had to face off against. And if they manage to free her, then you don’t know if you’ll be able to stop her like you did last time.

[Birdie]: X, look!

You turn around to see a horde of criminals emerging from a portal, preparing to prey upon innocent civilians and police officers.

What do you do?

Birdie nearly jumps down to assist the innocents down below, but you grab her arm and pull her away from the ledge before she gets a chance.

[Birdie]: What are you doing? We need to help them!

You point towards a ball of light that’s quickly approaching your location. It eventually takes form, and reveals it to be none other than the glorious golden bastard known only as Wilderbee!

He fires beams of golden light from his hands while flying in between the mob of criminals, and delivering a few punches along the way. And at some point during all of that, he finds time to pull his shades down and wink at you.

[Wade]: Chill Birdie. We’re not the only heroes in Bellwood.

The avian archer takes a deep breath and a moment to compose herself.

[Birdie]: Sorry. Got a little ruffled for a second there. Now let’s get these guys!

She races towards the Supermax prison and you follow close behind her.

--------

Once you reach the bridge, you notice that the authorities have blocked it off in an attempt to stop the prisoners from crossing it. When they notice you approaching, they cautiously grip their weapons in fear.

[Birdie]: Easy there. We’re the good guys, chief.

The man in charge, an older fellow with dark skin, lowers his hand in order to signal his men to calm down. He holsters his weapon and allows his hand to rest alongside his waist.

[Cpt. Hanks]: About time you showed up. We can’t hold this position for much longer.

[Birdie]: Ooh, pretty!

Birdie absentmindedly stares into the distance for some reason. You have no idea how someone with such a low attention span got to become a high ranking hero.

[Wade]: What are you looking-?

Suddenly, a beam of light strikes the thick cables of the bridge, causing it to shake and crumble as its structural integrity is threatened. And it would appear that the beam came from a heavy ordnance cannon on the other side of the bridge.

The officers struggle to regain their footing, and your eyes drift over to Birdie, who had failed to alert you to the presence of the beam.

[Birdie]: I mean…”Pretty dangerous”!

She tries to laugh it off, but you decide to ignore her blunder for now. And to make matters worse, that weird dove that she keeps around is pecking away at your mask!

[Wade]: Birdie! Get your pet!

Birdie grabs your arm and janks you to the ground, just in time to avoid being shot in the head by a plasma cannon. The other officers seem to have hunkered down as well.

[Birdie]: She said “get down”! Didn’t you hear her the first time?

You remain silent. Mostly due to the fact that you aren’t sure how to respond.

[Cpt. Hanks]: They’ve got weapons! There’s no way in hell you’re getting through all of that.

He’s right. You’re gonna need your ride.

[Wade]: Trixy, bring her around.

(Cont.)
>>
After about 15 seconds, you hear the roar of an engine tearing through the screams and sirens in the distance. Your glorious black bike cuts through the smoke and debris as it carves a path towards you like a noble steed.

The other officers jump as it parks itself near you, but you and Birdie just take a moment to marvel at your beautiful masterpiece.

[Wade]: Hop on partner. We’re riding through this hellstorm.

Birdie hops up and down whilst excitedly clapping her hands together. Your theatrics always get her riled up.

You sling your leg over the bike and firmly plant yourself on the seat. Birdie flips onto the back of the bike, but she doesn’t seem to be sitting correctly.

You look back to see that she’s crouching on the tips of her toes while holding onto your shoulders. It looks extremely uncomfortable, but she doesn’t seem to be complaining.

[Birdie]: Ready whenever you are!

She smiles and gives you a big thumbs up, so you shake your head, face forward and rev your engine a few times. In an instant, you shoot down the crumbling bridge as you go from 0 to 60. You quickly gain speed over time, but you know that this bridge won’t last long, and you can’t afford to turn back.

Suddenly, a group of prisoners line up at the end of the bridge, wielding heavy weaponry. They sling the cannons over their broad shoulders, aim carefully and fire them all at once, unleashing a barrage of green plasma.

Your hands tightly clench your motorcycle grips as you prepare to take evasive measures.

[Wade]: Hang on, Birdie! Things are about to get bumpy.

You feel her let go of your shoulders, and you turn to see that she’s standing on the back of your motorcycle with her bow drawn.

[Birdie]: Mmhm. You do your thing.

You drift and slide around the bridge as you struggle to maneuver yourself away from the explosive plasma projectiles that are being fired at you. Birdie on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be struggling at all.

Despite your sharp turns and split second decisions, she shifts her weight with your bike as she remains on the tips of her toes. She lets loose a volley of arrows with superb precision and dexterity, and they soar through the air until they impale the enemy's weapons, rendering them useless. You have no idea how she’s compensating for the wind pressure and speed, but she must be a prodigy of some sort.

Once you arrive at the foot of the bridge, you hit a massive ramp and launch your bike into the air, allowing you and Birdie to jump off. And when the two of you land, you find that you’re surrounded by a swarm of angry prisoners. A few of them are wearing collars to inhibit their metahuman powers, but you have no idea if they’re active or not.

[Wade]: You take the ugly ones?

[Birdie]: Then I’d be doing all of the work.

The two of you poke fun at each other as the circle of criminals slowly closes upon you.

You open up your belt’s faceplate and sift through your selection of aliens, before finally deciding on Diamondhead. After that, you raise your hand high into the air, before slamming it back down onto the Omnitrix’s core.

And in a flash of violet light, your body changes into that of Diamondhead!

Sorry for the delay. I was dealing with some drama.

>77

You punch the ground with outstanding force, causing it to crack, ripple and fragment as tiny crystal spikes uproot the rock from underneath. With each passing wave, the crystals grow larger and larger, until they tower several meters above the tallest of the prisoners.

The shockwave travels outwards, knocking everyone back and creating a crystalline fortress that protects you and Birdie from further harm. Or so you thought…

Just then, a rumbling sensation travels through the ground into your legs. You and your partner look around to find the source of the disturbance, but the dense forest of crystal is making it hard for you to pin down your target. Until, a giant lumbering rhino-alien charges at you from the corner of your eye. His heavy horn catches your side and penetrates your tough armor. And the next thing you know, you’re being pinned against a wall while his fat hands squeeze around your body.

[Exo-Skull]: Long time no see. I didn’t even get to thank you for throwing me in this crap-hole.

He continues to drill deeper into your side. Birdie tries to fire a few arrows into his thick hide, but it would seem that she’s going to be a bit preoccupied with the goons that are flooding in to attack her.

What do you do?

>Break off his horn and smack him in the face with a crystal mace.
>Wrestle him to the ground and bury him in a mound of crystal.
>Cause a pillar to rise up between you in order to break the two of you apart...and then you hit him over the head with it!
>Encase his body in crystal. If he wants to be stuck to you, then you’re gonna let him.

You fight through the pain and firmly plant your feet on the wall behind you. And in one powerful motion, you push off of the wall, throwing off Exo-skull’s balance and causing him to lean to the side. You take that opportunity to wrap your arms around his horn and wrestle him to the ground.

Once his knee makes contact with the concrete, you repeatedly punch him in the face in order to weaken him.

After a few blows to the skull, he’s on all fours, resisting the urge to collapse onto the floor. And with one last swift kick to the gut, he drops to the ground with a resounding thump.

Then, you command a wave of crystal to rise up from the ground and cover his body. You continue to reinforce the blanket of stone with a couple dozen layers, until you’re sure that he’s covered completely.

[Wade]: You’re welcome.

You charge towards your endangered partner, while crushing the crystal shards that lay in your path. Birdie is trying her best to fight the horde by herself, but you can tell that she’s being overwhelmed.

You let out a fierce war cry to alert your partner to your arrival, and you see a big smile spread across her face as she flips on top of a prisoner’s shoulders. Your first victim is flung through the air as he meets your charge. He crashes into a group of prisoners that were chasing after you, but you aren’t focused on them right now.

You deliver a brutal double clothesline to the two men in front of you, knocking them out cold as their heads slam against the concrete. Immediately afterwards, you lift your leg up and swing it down upon the neck of another prisoner, sending his body hurtling to the ground. Another man latches onto your back, but a swift elbow to the nose gets him off of you.

The man stumbles backwards, before being tripped and knocked out by Birdie. Another group of prisoners attempts to attack her from behind, but she quickly twirls around to deliver a swift roundhouse to the chin of the man in front. The next one gets a brutal rising kick to the chin, knocking out several of his teeth in the process. But the last one is a bit craftier than the others. He attempts to parry her kick and riposte with his own punch, however he hadn’t factored in the possibility that Birdie would perform a feint. Her high kick quickly shifts to the side, as she swings her leg around, jumps into the air and delivers a heel kick to his temple, while dodging his punch in the process.

The two of you continue to cut down a seemingly endless wave of opponents, but you don’t know how much longer you can keep this up. Looks like you’ll have to find a way to trap these guys.

[Wade]: Birdie, I have an idea. Follow my lead.

You bend your knees and focus all your strength into conjuring a ring of crystal around your enemies. You raise up a cylindrical pillar around you and the prisoners, causing great fear and confusion amongst them. Once it’s high enough, you grab onto Birdie and create a crystal construct beneath your feet. Then, you command the construct to shoot upwards like a piston, propelling you and your partner into the air and out of the cylindrical pillar. You slide down the side of pillar with Birdie in your arms, and once you’ve touched the ground, you command the mouth of the pillar to close, trapping the prisoners inside.

Birdie jumps out of your arms and raises her hands into the air.

[Birdie]: That was awesome! Teach was right about you. You are smart!

Well it’s nice to know that The Cowl says good things about you.

Suddenly, you feel a strong gust of wind, accompanied by the sound of a nearby propeller. The two of you look up to see several helicopters descending from above. And from the looks of it, they all belong to Time-Out…

Once they land, a group of armed soldiers flood out of the vehicles, followed by Steel and...ROJO?! What’s she doing here?!

Steel sneers in your direction and stomps towards you, which can’t mean anything good. Rojo follows close behind him.

[Steel]: This is now a Time-Out operation. I’m gonna have to ask you to evacuate the premises, “civilian”.

You narrow your eyes at him.

>”We don’t have time to argue like children. The entire city is at stake here. Either you help me take these guys down, or stay out of my way.”
>”If you knew how to properly run your prisons, this wouldn’t be happening right now.”

You time out in a flash of golden light, allowing you to return to your human form.

[Wade]: How are you the last to arrive at your own facility? Even the local police were here before you.

Steel pinches the bridge of his nose, closes his eyes and inhales deeply.

[Steel]: We ran into some trouble on the way here. Due to some highly classified information we received earlier, we have reason to believe that this facility and this organization as a whole is being targeted.

He pushes past you with his rifle in hand and a group of soldiers marching behind him. Rojo sticks close to him, but her gaze drifts to you every now and again. She looks like she wants to speak to you, but she knows that now isn’t the best time.

[Steel]: But that’s none of your business. As far as I’m concerned, you and your playmate are trespassing on private property.

He takes a moment to answer a call on his radio before continuing again.

[Steel]: Now get out of here before I tell my boys to bring you in too.

Oh, you’d love to see him try.

[Wade]: We don’t have time to argue like children. The entire city is at stake here.

[Steel]: Which is why you need to step back and let me do my damn job! If you want something to do, then get back out there and do some more of that “community service” you’re so well known for.

That’s it! You’ve had enough of this guy!

[Wade]: What the hell is your deal?!

The two of you stand face to face, and you can feel the tension rising in the air. Steel’s boys have their rifles pointed at you, and Birdie appears to be getting nervous. Rojo on the other hand appears to be smirking with an eyebrow raised.

Steel takes a moment to examine to situation before he says anything. His tone is surprisingly calm now.

[Steel]: You want to know what happens when the traffic lights shut down in this city? You get complete and utter chaos. No one knows who’s going first or who’s doing what. That’s why we have codes, rules and regulations. And you wanna know who doesn’t have to follow rules?

He folds his arms behind his back and nods to his boys, signaling for them to lower their rifles.

[Steel]: Metahumans and vigilantes. People that can outrun bullets, lift buses and survive explosions without a scratch. People that can put on a mask and escape any sort of accountability. How do you police a population of people that have no reason to fear you? Do you rely on a sense of duty or patriotism? Morality or good values, maybe?

He turns his back to you and paces around for a moment.

[Steel]: Well, what if none of that stuff works? What if someone with powers just decided that they didn’t feel like playing by the rules anymore?

He stops and stares into your reflective purple lenses.

[Steel]: And what if...the strongest man on the planet decided that he wanted to be top dog? Who stops him? His conscience?

(Cont.)
>>
He slowly approaches you and lays a heavy hand on your shoulder.

[Steel]: Frankly son, you scare the hell out of me. You keep the others in line. And they know that if they ever cross that line, they’ll have to answer to you. But if there’s no one stronger than the top dog, then who the hell keeps you in line?

He pats you on the shoulder and turns his back to you once more. To be honest, he doesn’t make a bad point. There’s alot of flaws with allowing vigilantes to operate alongside the local authorities. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t do some good here and there.

[Wade]: Wait.

He and the rest of his men stop moving.

[Wade]: You wanna call the shots? Fine. But we’re staying to help. This is our city too.

[Steel]: You wanna help? Then round up the prisoners in the yard while me and my boys suppress the threat inside.

[Wade]: No way. If I left it up to you, there would definitely be casualties. I’ve seen the way you operate.

He narrows his eyes at you.

[Steel]: Then it looks like we’re at an impasse here.

And you’re right back where you started...

[Wade]: Look. If you wanna yell at me or attack me or whatever, save it for later. Cause you and I both know who they’re going after in there. And I don’t know what you were before all of this started, but you should know the damage that she can cause. Neither of us want that.

His eyes widen upon realizing the context of your conversation. He knows all too well what Shiva can do. The more terrified she is, the stronger she gets. She can single handedly level an entire city if she was scared enough.

[Steel]: New plan. You and the bird freak are with me. Let’s move out!

As he turns around, Birdie jumps into the air to cheer, seemingly oblivious to the fact that she was just insulted.

[Birdie]: Yes!

Rojo turns around to wink at you, but no one else seems to notice.

[Rojo]: Welcome to the squad.

You have no idea what to say to her, so for now you silently nod and keep moving.

--------

Once you and the others enter the facility, you notice that the halls are completely empty. Aside from the blaring alarms, empty cells and discarded riot gear, there is no one in sight. Birdie, Steel and the other soldiers stand ready with their weapons drawn.

[Steel]: Stay alert. We don’t know where they could be-

Just then, a bundle of silk snags Steel and whisks him off of the ground. You and the others watch helplessly as he’s pulled into the air and wrapped up by a man wearing a black and red, spandex suit. The design is somewhat inspired by a tiger, as displayed by the stripes and white fur around the face, arms and legs. But it also shares some insect-like features, as displayed by big, round bug-like eyes.

[Tiger Moth]: Hope you don’t mind if I borrow your boss for a minute.

Rojo fires a shot at him with his wrist cannon, but the web-slinging villain moves his head to side in order to avoid it.

[Tiger Moth]: I guess you do mind. Well, I’m still gonna do it anyway!

(Cont.)
>>
He swings down the hall with Steel in tow, while Rojo chases him with a scowl on her face.

[Rojo]: Get back here!

You try to follow her, but it would seem that the once empty hallway is now occupied by dozens of prisoners. And most of them appear to be Metahumans! You could’ve sworn that there was no one here a minute ago.

[Birdie]: Uh, X? This isn't looking too good...

As the angry mob surrounds you, you’re met with a difficult decision. You can either let that smug asshole whisk Steel away while you fight off these crooks with Birdie and Steel’s men, or you can chase after Rojo and try to get her boss back.

>Chase after Rojo. As much as you hate the guy, you can’t let Tiger Moth hurt Steel.
>Stay with Birdie and fight the mob. These soldiers aren’t equipped to deal with metahumans.
>Tell Birdie to chase after Rojo while you fight the mob.
>Try to clear the way for everyone to follow Rojo. It'll be difficult, but you might be able to pull it off with enough effort and luck.

You quickly browse through your list of aliens, before stopping on one of your new ones. He should be able to get the job done!

You raise your hand into the air and slam it down onto the Omnitrix core, enveloping your body in violet light. And all of a sudden, your skin changes to a type of organic metal, and your limbs separate themselves from the rest of your body, before gaining a will of their own.

You’ve become Amalgamech!

You separate your body into five different mechanical animals, sending two after Steel and leaving three to defend Steel’s soldiers.

What do you do?

Team A

>Have the Pterodactyl shoot at Tiger Moth with it’s plasma cannons.
>Have the Sabertooth jump on top of the Pterodactyl’s back so that both of them can pounce on the webslinging menace.
>Let Rojo ride on the Sabertooth while the three of them combine their ranged projectiles.
>Try to cut Steel free with the Pterodactyl's razor sharp wings.
>Write-in.

Team B

>Have the Mastodon use his barriers to funnel in the horde of prisoners while the T-Rex and Triceratops take down anyone that makes it past him.
>Have the Triceratops charge through the mob and disrupt their ranks while the T-Rex and Mastodon go on a rampage.
>Focus on defending Birdie and the soldiers with your energy barriers, while they use their ranged advantage to take out the prisoners.

The Sabertooth runs alongside Rojo and lowers himself to the ground in a suggestive manner. She looks over to him and raises an eyebrow, seemingly unsure of what he wants. So to nudge her along, the Pterodactyl grabs her by the arms and places her on the Sabertooth’s back.

[Rojo]: Hey, watch the claws!

Once she settles onto his back, she takes aim at Tiger Moth and charges up another plasma bolt. But before she can release it, the Sabertooth lets loose a powerful sonic scream that knocks Tiger Moth off course, causing him to fly right into Rojo and the Pterodactyl’s shots.

As the thin young villain falls to the ground, the Pterodactyl snatches Steel out of the air and delivers him back to Rojo.

[Rojo]: Alright! That was pretty badass.

Rojo smiles while stroking the back of the Sabertooth, eliciting a purr from the mechanical creature.

------

The Mastodon places himself in the center of the room and deploys several energy barriers. As the prisoners struggle to climb over, Birdie and Steel’s soldiers shoot them down with non-lethal projectiles, while the Triceratops and the T-Rex take out any stragglers that make it past them.

Eventually, a fairly large Metahuman leaps over the barrier altogether, which throws the mob into a frenzy. However, he is quickly tackled by the Triceratops, who then uses his mighty horn to toss the man aside. And he is immediately snatched out of the air by none other than the mighty T-Rex, who grabs him by his leg and slams him to the ground repeatedly, before tossing him back over the barrier where he collides with a large group of prisoners.

And with that, the mob is suppressed. While the rest of you catch you breath, Birdie starts delivering high fives to the remaining soldiers.

--------

While you reform into Amalgamech and time out, Steel manages to unravel himself from Tiger Moth’s web. He glances over to you, and you resist the urge to give him your biggest shit-eating grin.

>”Still think you can handle yourself?”
>”Say what you want, but I think we make a pretty decent team.”
>”You okay?”
>”Why do you think they wanted you?”

[Wade]: You okay?

He rubs his neck and brushes the webbing off his body armor.

[Steel]: I’m fine.

[Wade]: Good. Then do you mind telling me why that wackjob wanted you? Do you have some sort of special clearance code or something?

[Rojo]: Retinal scans, fingerprint scans, vocal and facial recognition. You name it.

Rojo speaks up from the corner of the room while kicking Tiger Moth’s unconscious body.

[Rojo]: The boss here is the key to running this place. If these bozos want to get past our defenses, they need him. Alive.

Then that just means you need to protect him while he stubbornly marches deeper into this deathtrap. Sounds easy enough!

[Steel]: Let’s keep moving. The longer we stand still, the closer they get to the target.

[Wade]: You mean Shiva.

He visibly tenses up and glares back at you.

[Steel]: ...Yeah. Her.

So you and the rest of your merry crew continue on your way.

-------

As you delve deeper into the prison, the severity of the structural damage increases greatly. Frankly, you’re surprised that this building is still standing. It must be an architectural marvel.

The crumbling walls and flickering lights paint a rather grim environment, but you were expecting much from a prison full of Metahumans.

Lying at your feet are the battered and bloodied remains of whoever had been guarding these halls. The equipment that they’d been wearing seems to be at least Level 5 tech, something that shouldn’t have been introduced to Earth until about 500 years from now. However, the arrival of aliens seems to have jump-started our technological development.

Steel grimaces at the mangled remains of his men, but he tries not to show it on his face.

[Steel]: The mess hall should be right ahead.

The moment you pass through the large pair of double doors, a man wearing a puma mask and a military uniform descends upon you. He lands on the chest of one of Steel’s soldiers, and uses them as a springboard to launch himself at another nearby grunt. After he easily dispatches the two, he brandishes a collapsible staff and swings it at a soldier standing behind him.

As the staff connects with the soldier’s face, Birdie attempts to attack the strange man from behind. However, he somehow senses her attack and crouches down to sweep her legs As your partner falls to the ground, the man with the puma mask swings his staff at her. But right before it can make contact, you intercept the attack with your sword.

[???]: Ah, you’re quicker than the others. This will be fun!

The strange man has a thick Spanish accent, and his mask seems to be moving along with his lips.

(Cont.)
>>
Steel and Rojo attempt to assist you, but they are quickly interrupted by what seems to be a pair of giant, mechanical armadillos. While the two of them struggle to avoid being flattened by the artificial creatures, you notice a girl standing in the back of the mess hall with a complicated looking controller. She has pink and white hair tied into a ponytail, black and green baggy clothing with a dragon design running along the fabric, and a black cap with a similar design.

With aggressive command input, the armadillos move in response. Her expression is a bit hard to read due to the medical mask that she’s wearing, but you think you can see her smiling.

You feel the strange man’s weapon weighing down upon your mystical blade, and you’re forced to break away from him.

[GD]: I hope you aren’t becoming bored with me. I, General Disorder, simply will not allow it!

He snaps his fingers, and a group of men wearing similar masks come out of hiding and open fire on Birdie. The avian archer jumps off of the ground and immediately runs for cover. Strangely, none of them are aiming for you.

[GD]: Well, it looks like it’s just you and me now…

The man calling himself “General Disorder” charges at you whilst twirling his staff. And according to a notification on your HUD, the Omnitrix is still recharging.

What do you do?

>Break his staff with your Crashing Waterfall technique.
>Dodge his attack, grab him by the collar and drive his face into the ground.
>Try to trick him into getting himself run over by one of the armadillos.
>Run straight for the girl with the controller!

You swing your sword downward with all of your might, causing General Disorder to attempt to defend against your attack. While you were expecting your mystical sword to easily cut through his reinforced staff, it appears to have stopped halfway.

The general uses this opportunity to deliver a swift kick to your ribs with his muscular legs. Even with your suit’s armor plating, you felt the force of his strike, and it even managed to knock the wind out of you!

He proceeds to assault you with a flurry of flashy staff strikes, all of which are a little too quick and unpredictable for you to properly defend against. One catches you in the thigh, while the second catches you behind the ear, and the last manages to slam against your wrist. Luckily, he wasn’t able to target any vital areas.

[GD]: Aha! You’re slowing down already, eh? What a poor dance partner you turned out to be.

The ridiculous man in the puma mask begins to mock you, but his expression quickly changes to one of shock once he notices the mechanical armadillo hurtling towards him.

He just barely manages to avoid being flattened by the creature, but the rest of his men aren’t so lucky. It would appear that the masked woman in the corner of the room has lost control of her beasts.

[GD]: Beast Mode, get your overgrown rats under control!

The woman begins to yell slurs in Korean as she angrily fiddles with her device. And eventually, her controller sparks wildly before breaking altogether. The criminal known as Beast Mode drops the fried controller on the ground and angrily stomps it to pieces in a tantrum.

And in her blind rage, she is unable to notice an electrified wire that Rojo fired at her from across the room. The wire pins her against a wall and causes her body to spasm, before she goes limp and falls unconscious.

In all of this chaos, General Disorder attempts to sneak away, but he is quickly caught by Birdie, who fires an arrow at his feet. The General tries to escape through an alternative route, but he is once again cut off by Steel, who knocks him out with a powerful punch to the chin.

Just then, a voice plays through the audio receptors of your helmet. And it sounds strangely familiar.

[Pyth0n]: With thisss, we’re even…

It’s Pyth0n! She finally contacted you! And in a really flashy fashion, you might add.

>”You’ve got great timing!”
>”Does this mean that you’ve considered my previous offer?”
>”Damn. Do you think you can teach me how to do that?”

[Wade]: You’ve got great timing!

[Pyth0n]: Don’t think too much of it. I just noticed sssome weird radio signals and decided to scramble them.

You can’t tell if she’s being shy or if she just really wanted to mess with Beast Mode.

[Wade]: Does this mean that you’ve considered my previous offer?

[Pyth0n]: I might be willing to do some work for the Plumbers. That is, if you’ve got the Taydens to afford my ssservices…

She doesn’t seem to be digging through your personal files, but you’re signaling Trixy to beef up your security just in case.

[Wade]: Awesome! Just call the number that I left you. He’s a good friend of mine, so he should be able to hook you up with a wire transfer in exchange for some freelance work.

All of a sudden, an image of Pyth0n’s smiling face flashes across your HUD. You break into a cold sweat at the thought of her being able to see your face, but Trixy silently assures you that she had disabled your camera ahead of time.

[Pyth0n]: A pleasure doing businessss with you.

And with that, she disappears from your HUD and disconnects the call. However, it would seem that sometime during all of this confusion, Blast Shadow took Steel hostage!

You, Birdie and Rojo attempt to run towards the villain, but in response he strongly grips Steel’s face with his gloved fingers, causing glowing cracks to form along the Commander’s pale skin. His pained expression is enough to stop all three of you dead in your tracks.

[Blast Shadow]: Tsk tsk. Do you see what happens when children refuse to listen?

His raspy voice is even more grating and insufferable than you remember.

[Rojo]: Let him go, you shriveled up chode!

Blast Shadow chuckles at Rojo’s vulgar insult, well aware that he has the upper hand in this situation.

[Blast Shadow]: While I’d love to listen to you prattle on about disfigured genitalia, I have an appointment to make. But since I thought you kids would get lonely without me, I went ahead and found a playmate for you all.

Just then, the ground begins to shake as dust falls from the crumbling ceiling and walls. It sounds like a stampede of rampaging elephants racing towards you.

[Birdie]: W-what is that?

Your partner's voice quivers as she slowly inches towards you.

[Wade]: I dunno, but it sounds big…

Suddenly, a large green alien comes bursting through the wall. His muscular arms are as big as tree trunks, and he looks to be at least 12 feet tall!

But his most terrifying features would have to be his menacing red eyes and tentacled face!

[Wade]: Oh shit…

It’s Vilgax! Again!

[Blast Shadow]: Have fun…

Blast Shadow laughs maniacally as he and Steel sink into the ground in a puff of ash and smoke. Rojo attempts to chase after them, but to no avail.

[Rojo]: Dammit!

Your attention remains solely focused on Vilgax. His very presence is mind-boggling! How could he possibly be here without anyone knowing about it? Could he be working with Blast Shadow?! Or is he finally here to take the Omnitrix away from you?!
>>
[Birdie]: X, he’s getting away!

Your partner points and shouts at the horrific squid monster before you.

[Wade]: ...What’s that now?

While you were lost in thought, Vilgax turned away from you and leaped out of the building in a single bound, crashing through several layers of solid concrete in the process.

Why the hell is he running from you?! Shouldn’t he be focused on taking the Omnitrix or some other cliche villainous plot?

[Rojo]: Wa-...I mean X!

Rojo snaps you out of your funk by aggressively grabbing your shoulders and shaking you back and forth.

[Rojo]: We’ve gotta go after the boss. That freak still has him!

She's right. You need to make a choice here.

What do you do?

>Go after Vilgax. He can’t be allowed to roam free on Earth.
>Chase after Blast Shadow and Steel. You can’t allow Shiva to be broken out of prison.

Your urge to chase after the bipedal squid monster is strong, but you decide to momentarily suppress it for the good of the city. But that doesn’t mean that he’ll be running free. You’ll have the entirety of the hero community, police department and local Plumber base breathing down his neck.

[Wade]: You’re right. I just need a moment to call for backup.

You’ve got a couple of options here, but the closest would have to be Wilderbee. He may not be the most professional hero out there, but you can’t really afford to be picky here.

Once you put out the call, you meet up with Rojo and the others and race towards Shiva’s cell.

-------

As you sprint down the oddly deserted hallway, you feel as if you should get some info from Rojo on the way to defeat Blast Shadow.

[Wade]: So, what’s up with this little Suicide Squad that Blast Shadow put together? And does it provide any insight as to why I just saw a 12 foot alien criminal bust through here?

She shakes her head and returns her gaze to the path ahead.

[Rojo]: I can’t explain the squid, but we’ve got a pretty big file on the leader of this op. Blast Shadow’s part of a terrorist group called “The Rogue Element”. Him and General Disorder are usually always on the team, but they rotate their members pretty regularly since they’re always getting arrested or murdered.

[Wade]: And what’s their main goal?

[Rojo]: To stir shit up. They think they’re special because they have powers. Like they need to be in charge because they’re part of a “Newly evolved race of human beings” or some shit.

[Birdie]: Well they sound like real jerks!

Rojo raises an eyebrow to Birdie’s childish insult, but doesn’t comment on it.

Suddenly, your path is cut off by a massive mob of prisoners! Some of them appear to be armed, but there don’t seem to be too many Metahumans mixed into the group.

[Wade]: Ugh! We don’t have time for these guys!

[Birdie]: But we do!

You and Rojo turn to see Birdie twirling the staff that was dropped by the villain that you had defeated earlier. And standing behind her, is the remaining squad of Steel’s soldiers, bracing themselves for close quarters combat.

[Birdie]: You guys go ahead. We’ll clear a path!

The avian archer jumps in the middle of the horde, whilst twirling her staff and giggling like a young girl. Her reinforced staff manages to clear a large path for you and Rojo, while the remainder of Steel’s soldiers dive into the mosh pit alongside your partner.

You and Rojo don’t waste any time running past your allies.

[Rojo]: Those guys are definitely getting a raise!

-------

Once you arrive at Shiva’s holding cell, you notice that Steel and Blast Shadow have already managed to bypass most of the security countermeasures that were put in place. You just hope that you’re not too late!

(Cont.)
>>
[Rojo]: They should be right through here.

The two of you slide open a large steel door, and behind it you find Blast Shadow holding a gun to Steel’s head. And the one resting behind them is none other than the legendary Shiva. Rather than a criminal, her long white hair and flawless pale skin makes her seem like a princess.

[Blast Shadow]: You didn’t run away this time. I’m pleasantly surprised, X.

Blast Shadow manages to squeeze out a dry, raspy laugh from his lips. You begin to wonder whether he has a severe medical condition or if he’s trying to be creepy on purpose.

[Wade]: You have to know that she won’t be on your side when she wakes up.

He narrows his eyes and moves his gun towards Shiva’s chest.

[Blast Shadow]: I know. But that’s what makes it so much fun!

As the terrorist pulls the trigger, Steel shoves a large knife through the villain’s arm, causing him to jerk the pistol upwards as the razor sharp blade pierces his flesh. As the barrel of the pistol points towards the ceiling, the bullet misses its mark and bounces off of a steel pipe. However, it would seem that the loud noise was enough to stir Shiva, as she wakes with a shriek.

The pale woman’s eyes dart around the room as she struggles to take in the scene before her. Her breathing grows erratic and her muscles begin to tense up in fear.

Blast Shadow screams as Steel frees himself from his grasp, allowing you and Rojo to make your move. As the injured terrorist attempts to flee into a nearby wall, you’re met with yet another difficult choice.

>Transform into an alien. (Which one?)
>Try to calm Shiva down. She seems to be the victim in this situation.
>Drag Blast Shadow out of the wall before he can escape! Your backup should be here soon.
>Ask Rojo and Steel if they have any sedatives. You might need to forcefully put Shiva to sleep.
>Have Trixy play soothing music through your suit’s speakers.
>Call a friend or family member to help talk Shiva down.(Which one?)

[Wade]: Go after Blast Shadow. I’ll handle Shiva.

They both nod to you and dive towards the fleeing villain. And while they keep him busy, you quickly sift through your selection of aliens, before finally deciding on Thriller Whale. If there’s anyone that can calm her down, it’s him.

You raise your hand into the air, and slam it back down onto your Omnitrix’s core, causing a violet burst of light to flood the room. Shiva momentarily shields her eyes, and when she looks again, she sees Thriller Whale standing before her.

You notice that her breathing is becoming even more erratic from the shock watching you transform. Her stress levels are sky-rocketing!

[Wade]: Sorry about that, Shiva. The intruder is will be removed shortly.

She doesn’t appear to be calming down at all. Your reassuring words aren't reassuring enough!

[Steel]: She can’t hear you. Her heartbeat has gotten too loud for her to hear what we’re saying.

Steel and Rojo wrestle with Blast Shadow while you attempt to counsel Shiva. And it would seem that the villain's grievous wounds have already healed.

[Wade]: Hmm. Sounds like an extreme case of pulsatile tinnitus.

Well that’s inconvenient, but hardly a hurdle for a being of your intellect.

You focus on creating a series of soothing vibrations and send them through Shiva’s shivering body.

[Wade]: But luckily, you don’t need ears to appreciate music!

Your soothing melodies reverberate through her bones, causing her muscles to relax and her tension to melt away. She un-clenches her fists and relaxes her posture, allowing you to take her hand and ease her back into her sleep pod.

She looks to you with a relaxed and drowsy expression, and for a second, she has the aura of a calm and collected individual.

[Shiva]: Thank you, whale…

A small smile spreads across her face, and a single tear falls from her eye as she drifts to sleep.

[Blast Shadow]: No!

You turn to see Blast Shadow wrestling against Steel, while having a knife piercing his palm. His blood appears to be bright orange, and from the way is evaporates when it hits the ground, possibly highly toxic.

[Blast Shadow]: You’ve ruined everything!

Blast Shadow grips Steel’s knife in anger, causing it to break apart and explode! But right before the sinister criminal can get his hands around the wounded Commander, a bright yellow streak tackles him against a wall with enough force to crush the thick metal panels that line the room.

And in the blink of an eye, it would seem that Wilderbee showed up at the last minute to save the day! Kinda…

[Wilderbee]: Whoo! What’d I miss?

The blonde buffoon flashes a cocky grin and shoots you a thumbs up, but you’re just happy that Blast Shadow’s been dealt with. Now, you just have to worry about the matter of his containment.

-------

Once reinforcements arrive, you assist your fellow Plumbers with apprehending the prisoners and defeated criminals. With The Rogue Element defeated and the prison break thwarted, the only thing to worry about is the matter of a giant squid running loose in your town.

[Steel]: This is quite the mess, huh? The taxpayers won’t be too happy about this.

You and Steel stand side by side, overlooking the island’s wreckage from a high perch. The silence between the two of you is rather long and palpable, until he loudly clears his throat and extends his hand towards you.

[Steel]: You did good work tonight. Saved my ass more than a couple times. Maybe...I was wrong about you.

It looked like it physically hurt him to say those words to you. You grip his hand and firmly shake it in response.

[Wade]: Likewise, Steel.

A heavy silence falls over the area once more. You notice that Birdie looks absolutely exhausted, but is trying her best to hide it.

[Steel]: So, what now?

[Wade]: Well, the city’s still on fire, and someone needs to put it out. Looks like a job for me and my partner.

Birdie waves at you while leaning on the staff that she stole from General Disorder, however the rubble beneath her feet gives out and causes her to fall. Knowing that she’s most likely okay, you wave back and return your gaze to the city.

[Wade]: And after that I’m gonna head home, take a nice long shower, hug my family and hit the hay.

Steel crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow to your statement.

[Steel]: And, the alien…?

You sigh deeply and rub the back of your neck.

[Wade]: I’ll keep my eyes open and my ear to the ground. If he ever pops up, then I’ll be ready.

You jump from the perch as you wave goodbye to the uptight Commander, and the platform that you land on nearly crumbles from your weight. You make a mental note to not do anything that would further compromise the structural integrity of this crumbling prison.

Birdie flips in front of you with the utmost finesse and grace, whilst twirling her newfound weapon. She seems to have gotten pretty attached to that thing.

[Wade]: Ready to roll?

She places a hand on the feathery, flared hips of her tutu and flips her hair with the other hand.

[Birdie]: You know it, partner!

You summon your bike to your side, and the two of you ride into the night as you perform your civic duties.

---------------

Compared to the members of The Rogue Element, the rest of these loose criminals were no trouble at all. You often found yourself using the bare minimum of energy to incapacitate them. However, you notice that Birdie’s movements were becoming more and more sluggish. Perhaps she’s injured?

[Wade]: Hey, you okay?

The both of you take a moment to stretch during the brief period of respite that you’ve earned from your night of hard work.

Birdie attempts to stifle a yawn as she forces a smile and a half-hearted salute.

[Birdie]: Me? Pshh! I’m A-okay...partner…

She staggers and stumbles, before falling to the ground without warning. And in a bright flash of light, she transforms into a young girl!

(Cont.)
>>
Her appearance is somewhat similar to Birdie’s, but her clothes are completely different. Her white tutu has reverted to a plain red hoodie and a pair of jeans, while her untamed hair has become less refined somehow.

The flash of light from before has changed its shape into a small white bird, similar to the one you saw earlier tonight. The bird flaps its wings around the girl’s head as she pulls herself from the ground and rubs the sleep out of her eyes. But once she sees your concerned expression, her eyes go wide and she begins to panic.

[Birdie(?)]: ...Oh crap!

She’s just a kid…

[Birdie(?)]: This isn’t what it looks like! It’s just...my time of the month...?

She tries to fool you with a flimsy excuse, but your brain doesn't appear to be properly registering the words that are coming out of her mouth. At the moment, you’re in awe of the dilemma that’s currently unfolding before your eyes.

>”Does anyone else know about this?”
>”...Want a ride back home? We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
>”How old are you, exactly?”
>”So that bird isn’t just your pet? Does it give you special powers or something?”

You sigh deeply and kneel down to meet her at eye level.

[Wade]: Look, helping others is fine and all, but you still need to take care of yourself.

Her fear from before is vanishing slowly, but her anxiety is still faintly present as she gives you a slight nod.

[Birdie(?)]: Okay...I’m sorry. Guess I was more tired than I thought…

She still looks as if she might cry at a moment’s notice.

[Wade]: ...Want a ride back home?

Her eyes widen from shock and she almost looks like she wants to back away from you. She’s much more shy when she isn’t in her other form.

[Wade]: Your identity...we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.

She wipes her eyes once more and slaps her rosy cheeks in an attempt to perk herself up.

[Birdie(?)]: Yeah...I’d like that.

You turn around, remove your helmet and pull out a spare cloth mask from your pocket. You pull the spare mask over your face and carefully place your helmet over the young girl’s head. Her fingers travel along its smooth surface in a panic, but she quickly calms down due to Trixy’s influence.

[Wade]: This way, no one should figure out who you are.

You bring your bike around, and place the girl on the back of your seat before mounting the vehicle yourself.

[Birdie(?)]: Umm, the lady in your helmet is asking you why you didn’t just put your spare mask on me instead?

You rev up your engine and swing your bike around.

[Wade]: Because your hair was too big to fit inside of it. Grab hold of me.

She wraps her tiny arms around you, and you race down the city streets at a slightly slower speed than you normally do.

------

You arrive at the address that the young girl provided to you, and luckily there doesn’t seem to be too many people walking outside at the moment. You lift her up and place her on the ground, which seems to make her a bit uncomfortable. She probably doesn’t like being treated like a kid.

[Wade]: You gonna be okay?

She nods slowly, before removing the helmet and handing it back to you. You consider removing the cloth mask, but it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to compromise your secret identity. Instead, you reach into your pocket and pull out a domino mask.

[Wade]: Here. It’s the spare for my spare. Just in case something like this happens again.

As you place it in her small hands, her rosy cheeks become a slightly brighter shade of red. She places the mask on her face and folds her hands behind her back in a bashful manner.

[Trixy]: Wade, I detect a sudden increase in her heart rate.

You shush your A.I., but then you remember that you’re the only one that can hear her.

[Birdie]: ...Thanks. I'll see you around…?

You resist the urge to rev your engine in this quiet neighborhood.

[Wade]: Sure thing, partner. Get some rest.

She smiles sheepishly before running up to her house and quickly climbing into a window on the second floor. Once you’re absolutely sure that she’s safe, you disappear into the night with a powerful roar from your bike.

Once you return home, you unequip your suit and sneak inside through the back door. As you creep through the dimly lit living room, you see your girlfriend and her kids passed out on the couch. They must have been waiting for you.

[Olumar]: I told them to retire master, but they simply wouldn’t listen.

You turn to see Olumar leisurely floating in the corner of the room.

[Wade]: Sorry about that. City needed saving again.

Olumar glances over to the television, where they broadcast a recap of the night’s events.

[Olumar]: Clearly. And I don’t suppose that they’ve given you a reward for your selfless deeds?

You gingerly pick up ML-E and carry her to her room, before tucking her in and returning to the living room for the remaining two.

[Wade]: You know that isn’t how this works.

You pick up the heaviest one, N8, and carry him to his bed, before dropping him into the plush mattress with a plop. He squirms around in his sleep, but doesn’t wake up from your insensitive action. The kid sleeps like a bag of rocks.

[Olumar]: I’m just saying, it wouldn’t hurt for them to give you a gold trinket here and there. Just a teensy one?

[Wade]: If it’s about money, then get plenty from my Plumber gig.

Speaking of, you should probably be expecting a new assignment from the top brass sometime soon. It’s been a while since your last official mission.

You scoop up the tiniest tyke, E-N, and carry him off to his bed next to N8.

[Olumar]: I’m aware. However, it was your reputation that I was worried about. You’ve been in good standing with the alien migrants due to your efforts towards advocating “Xeno rights”. And the local authorities appear to be warming up to you lately.

And lastly, you scoop up K8-E and bring her face close to yours. She appears to be murmuring something about you in her sleep.

[Wade]: So, what’s your point?

Olumar grabs your shoulder and forcefully turns you around.

[Olumar]: My point is, I’ve been where you are now. At the top of the world, beloved by all. That’s how I was before my fall from grace.

For once, Olumar is dead serious. She’s really worried about this.

[Olumar]: You are currently at the mercy of the swaying opinion of the masses, and that is not always going to be a favorable position for you. One day, they will be very scared, and they will worry about whether or not you can really protect them. And once that time comes, their loyalty will be tested.

She lets go of your shoulder and recedes back into her lamp for the night. As you carry your slumbering lover to your nest, you’re left with the grim warning that your blue genie gave you on this eventful night.

You lay K8-E down onto the mattress and crawl beneath the covers with her. Sometime during the night, she intertwines her body with yours, and you let your weary mind drift to sleep.

When you wake up, you notice that K8-E has left the bed to make breakfast for you and the kids. Looks like she let you sleep in again.

The sound of sizzling grease fills the air, and the smell of freshly cooked bacon and eggs fills your nose.

What do you intend to do today?

Before you do anything, you should sit your ass down and eat a nice peaceful breakfast with your family.

You rise from your bed, and walk over to the kitchen, where K8-E and the kids impatiently wait for their breakfast. They alternate between sitting at the table, chasing each other around the house and watching cartoons while playing with their toys. And all the while, K8-E cooks several meals simultaneously. Every now and again, she’ll deliver a plate of food to the table, the contents of which manage to miraculously disappear in an instant. The only untouched plate is the one that she prepared for you, should you awaken in time to eat it.

[Wade]: Morning.

All of them pause for a split second to return your greeting.

[ML-E, N8, E-N, & K8-E]: Morning!

You let out a slight groan as you sit down to eat your breakfast, but it would seem that your slip-up was enough to attract K8-E’s concern.

[K8-E]: Rough night?

[Wade]: You can say that again.

You realize that you forgot to get something to drink, but in the blink of an eye, a tall glass of orange juice appears next to your hand. This girl pampers you way too much sometimes.

[Wade]: Thanks.

You take a nice long sip before continuing.

[Wade]: We had to stop a group of terrorists from breaking out a bunch of crooks. Took a bit longer than I would have liked.

There’s also the matter of Birdie’s secret identity being revealed to you, but you decide to omit that little detail for now.

[K8-E]: Well, I’m just glad that you’re safe. It seems like you’re running off to put a stop to some sort of global threat every night.

It sure does feel that way these days, huh? You wonder how this city will fare during your absence today.

The two of you keep the conversation short for the sake of the children. You don’t need them getting riled up over nothing. You feel so troubled whenever they offer to help you with “work”.

---------

Once you finish eating, you equip your suit and prepare to head out.

[K8-E]: Where are you off to this time?

[Wade]: China. Be back before dinner, babe.

She seems pleasantly surprised by your travel plans. For her, it probably wouldn’t take too long to reach China.

[K8-E]: How lovely! Be sure to bring us back a few souvenirs.

She plants a kiss on your cheek and begins preparing the kid’s lunch in the kitchen.

[Wade]: Will do! Love you guys. Stay safe!

Once more, they all immediately pause their actions to return your affection.

[ML-E, N8, E-N & K8-E]: Love you! Stay safe!

You exit through the back door to avoid being seen by your neighbors, and you begin your journey to the land of dragons!

-----------------

It takes a while, but you manage to make it to Hong Kong through the exclusive use of Bloodrush and XLR8. The action isn’t particularly significant, considering that you’ve traveled halfway across the galaxy, but it still feels like a rather considerable milestone in your life. Not many people your age can travel long distances in such a convenient and immediate manner.

Amongst the bustling crowds and neon lights, you manage to spot a few aliens walking around. And luckily, it seems that you haven’t drawn any attention to yourself yet. You have no idea how the authorities would react to your presence in this city.

But you've gotta say, this city kinda reminds you of New York and Bellwood. All of the electronic billboards and honking horns make you feel right at home, but the atmosphere is foreign enough to make you feel like you're visiting an alien planet. It's a slightly exciting feeling.

[Wade]: Alright Trixy, think you can help me find this kid?

[Trixy]: One moment…

Just then, you witness a rather large explosion, followed by the arrival of a monstrous centipede. Its grotesque body coils and curls through the air as it raises its head high above the surrounding buildings.

[Wade]: On second thought, cancel that…

A series of screams erupt from the city, and you spot a helicopter flying overhead. You honestly didn’t expect this much action upon the first few minutes of your arrival.

[Trixy]: I detect a peculiar signal nearby.

You spot a small figure jumping from the helicopter hovering overhead, and watch as he quickly descends towards the ground, before the jetpack on his back kicks in at the last minute to break his fall. Once the citizens make note of his presence, their fearful cries turn into cheers.

The cautious stance that the boy once took has now been abandoned as he waves and gestures towards the crowd. But as he does this, the centipede rushes towards him!

>Help the kid out. He might not be able to handle it by himself.
>Wait and watch him for a bit.
>Loudly announce your presence in an effort to distract everyone for a moment. If there’s anything these guys should appreciate, it’s theatrics.
>Warn him over the Omnitrix’s shared radio signal. If he has trouble fighting the centipede, then you can coach him from afar.

[Wade]: Trixy, connect me to his Omnitrix’s radio frequency.

You think it might be a good idea to watch how he handles himself. Maybe you can throw a few pointers to him here and there.

[Trixy]: You are connected, Wade.

[Wade]: Hey kid, playing the hero only works when-DUCK NOW!

He responds to your message immediately and throws his body to the right in order to narrowly avoid the centipede’s charge. The boy says something in Chinese, but you assume that it’s just a curse that he mumbled under his breath.

[Wade]: As I was saying, you can pose after you’ve beaten the bad guy.

He examines his watch for a moment, before pressing a button on his helmet.

[Ben]: English? How’d you access this frequency?

He seems to be pretty fluent in English. This means that Trixy doesn’t have to translate.

[Wade]: Nevermind that. He’s coming back around, so focus up and show me what you’ve got.

He begins to panic and look around, but once he spots the centipede again, he opens up his Omnitrix’s faceplate and slams his hand down onto its core. After being engulfed in a flash of crimson light, he reappears as some sort of disfigured rock creature. He wears a metal belt and a type of black cloth to cover his lower body.

Seeing as the centipede isn’t slowing his charge, Ben causes a rock ramp to rise up from the ground, allowing the giant insect’s body to slide into a nearby building face first.

[Wade]: Hey! What if there were people in that building?

[Ben]: Relax. We evacuated that building a minute ago.

He raises his arms into the air, causing stone barriers to rise up out of the ground, and with a simple hand motion, the barriers begin to push the surrounding civilians back.

[Ben]: Kinda hard to clear the city’s streets at night, though.

Huh. Maybe you weren’t giving him enough credit before. He seems to have the situation well under control.

As the centipede shakes its head to regain its composure, Ben molds a rather large stone spike and fires it at the creature’s body. The spike manages to impale the creature, pinning it to the building that it had collided with earlier.

The centipede lets out a sharp cry, before whipping its lower body at Ben and the surrounding citizens. You nearly jump down to assist the boy, but considering the distance between the two of you, you don’t know if you’d make it in time. Maybe you spoke too soon!

(Cont.)
>>
But just then, a series of stone spikes shoot up from the ground. At first, they seem to be in a completely random order, but then you notice the creature’s body wrapping around the spikes, thus shortening his range. And then, Ben does something that truly impresses you.

He peels off the surface of the asphalt, and coils it into wheel, along with the centipede’s lower body. Ben appears to be using the asphalt like a tack strip.

Once he’s gathered up the centipede’s tail, he rolls it towards the creature in the form of a spiked, stone wheel. The wheel crushes the creature’s body with a sickening crunch, allowing Ben to impale the rest of his body to the abandoned building.

The centipede cries out in pain, before collapsing alongside the face of the building.

The crowd around you erupts into thunderous applause, and Ben takes a moment to soak it all in, while making sure that no one tries to climb over the stone barriers. But as he waves to his adoring fans, the centipede detaches its own head and allows it to hall to the ground. The severed head sprouts additional legs and begins crawling towards Ben in a last ditch effort. The people around him attempt to warn him of the approaching danger, but he doesn’t seem to be able to hear them.

[Wade]: On your six!

A smug grin spreads across his face, and without turning around, he erects a stone wall in front of the insect, causing it to bash its head in with the force of its own charge. The crowd falls silent as green ooze drips down the stone barrier. That is, until a man wearing a flashy blue jumpsuit shouts from the top of an overturned vehicle. The word “blue is spelled on his chest in leet speak for some reason.

[B1U3]: Let’s hear it for R3D!

And with that command, the crowd begins cheering once again. Ben returns to his human form in a green flash, and you notice that he wears a similar jumpsuit to the man that shouted earlier.

[Ben]: Hey weirdo, how’d you like that?

He looks around with a cocky grin, presumably searching for you.

[Wade]: Overall, you were a little reckless, but not bad. Try to be mindful of collateral. Just as a rule of thumb, if the enemy has decently damaged the structure, then it’s okay to be a little rough. And evacuation is just as important as fighting villains and monsters. You won’t always have a support crew to clear out buildings for you, especially if you go to a different country, planet, universe or dimension.

[Ben]: Uhhh…

He looks like his head is spinning already, but you’re not done yet.

[Wade]: Also, try not to get too distracted during a fight. All it takes is a single mistake to get yourself or someone else killed. And keep in mind that-

You stop yourself for a moment when you realize how critical and condescending you sound. All in all, he handled himself pretty well.

[Wade]: You know...that thing you did with the spikes was pretty clever. Nice work.

His eyes go wide and he seems to blush for a moment, but he tries to shrug it off in a nonchalant manner.

[Ben]: Oh…I mean, it was no big deal.

He’s more honest than you initially thought. You’d think this kid never gets compliments or something.

[Wade]: If you’ve got time, would you want to talk for a bit? I’ve got some questions I want to ask you.

He narrows his eyes and adopts a skeptical expression.

[Ben]: Why would I do that? I don’t even know who you are.

You feel like one of those guys on “How to catch a predator”. Do you tell him the truth? Because the truth sounds pretty far fetched and ridiculous for someone that hasn’t had any experience with cross-dimensional shenanigans. You could always prove your identity by showing him your Omnitrix, but you aren’t sure if revealing your presence in a different country is such a wise idea. The media outlets would eat it up, and you really don’t need that kind of attention right now.

>”Look, I’m just gonna need you to trust me on this one. I’ve seen what you can do, and I think you’ve got potential to improve.”
>”Because I’m scouting you for a team of multiversal superheroes. You’ve got some important people watching you, Ben.”

[Wade]: Because we’re the same. I’ve got an Omnitrix too, and I can prove it. If you’ll let me, that is.

He appears befuddled for a moment, but then he snaps his fingers as a sudden realization dawns upon him.

[Ben]: ...Wait. Then does that mean…?

[Wade]: Yup, you guessed it. I’m the legal owner of Earth!

[Ben]: I knew it-

He pauses to process your words.

[Ben]: Wait, what?! I thought you were gonna tell me that you were X.

[Wade]: No, you were right. I’m both.

He scratches the back of his head in confusion.

[Ben]: How do you even “buy” the planet Earth?

[Wade]: It’s intergalactic trade value is absurdly low due to its low tech level, but that’s not the point. Your parents told you about the Incursion invasion, right? It happened sometime around then.

As you mention the invasion, you see a sorrowful expression spread across his face. He takes a moment to examine his gloved hand, before tightly clenching it and taking a deep breath.

[Ben]: Yeah, I remember the invasion. I don’t think I could ever forget it...

Did you perhaps touch upon a sore subject?

[Ben]: Okay, I’ll meet you in an hour. I just need to get debriefed back at the base. I’m sending you the coordinates of the location I want to meet up at.

He fiddles with his watch for a moment, and you notice a well dressed woman behind him tapping her foot rather impatiently.

[Trixy]: Coordinates received. I’ll map out a route based on the city’s rooftop system.

[Wade]: Thanks Trixy. You know how I love my rooftops.

The woman approaches Ben and places a hand on his shoulder with a stern expression on her face. The helicopter that was hovering above you slowly descends, before landing in the middle of the street. The armed guards that were present for the Centipede battle use intimidation to create room for the large vehicle.

[Ben]: Look, I gotta go. Talk to you later.

He and the rest of his team board the helicopter, but not without waving to the crowd and performing a couple of heroic poses. Once they’re all on board, the helicopter rises into the sky and disappears over the horizon.

Since it looks like you’ve got some time to kill, you might as well grab those souvenirs that K8-E asked you for.

After about an hour and a half, Trixy notifies you of the proximity of Ben’s watch. He should be here in a few minutes. Luckily, the location he chose isn’t terribly crowded. A few people stop to take pictures of you, but you don't pay them any mind.

[Ben]: Sorry for the wait. My mom gave me a super long lecture about efficiency and teamwork.

You turn to see a 10 year old Chinese boy with short black hair standing before you. He’s rather tall for his age, and wears jeans and a red hoodie with the number “7” on the left side of his chest. But the most peculiar part of his appearance is the prosthetic red arm on the left side of his body. It almost looks like finely crafted wood belonging to a doll, but you can tell that it’s made of a sleek, yet durable plastic polymer.

[Wade]: No problem. I’m surprised you came in your civvies.

He examines your shiny black armor, but his attention is primarily drawn to your belt.

[Ben]: It attracts less attention. It’d suck if I got attacked out of nowhere.

Smart move. Unfortunately, you don't know if you have the luxury of revealing your identity to a complete stranger.

[Ben]: So, what’d you wanna talk about?

>”How’d you get your watch?”
>”What happened to your arm?”
>”Are your parents really okay with you doing this whole ‘hero’ thing?”
>”Do you really only have seven aliens?”
>”I didn’t know the Incurseans invaded China too. I hope the damage wasn’t too severe.”
>”I thought we could go on patrol together. Just so I can see how you operate.”
>”So you’ve got a team, huh. Are you some sort of agent deployed by your government?”
>"So Ben, got a nickname? It'd make it much easier for me if you did."
>”Feel free to ask some questions of your own.”

[Wade]: So Ben, you got a nickname? It'd make it much easier for me if you did.

He places a hand on his chin and looks to the side for a moment.

[Ben]: Well...I guess my teammates call me "Red", so you can call me that too if you want.

"Red" it is, then. At least it's better than lumping him in with the Ben clones. But now that he mentions it, you do remember seeing the word "R3D" on his suit earlier. You wonder if he'd get upset if you mentioned the leet speak.

[Wade]: Now that you mention your team, what's the deal with them? Are you some sort of agent for your government or something?

Red rolls his eyes and shoves his hands into his hoodie’s pockets.

[Red]: It's really not as cool as it sounds. I work for the Ministry of Defense with my Mom. And the team is mostly there to keep me in check, in case I screw up or "misbehave".

The way he talks about his team makes them sound like more of a burden than an asset. But you guess there's nothing fun about having chaperones when you're trying to do your job.

[Red]: They act friendly during missions, but I'm pretty sure they don't like me that much.

He shrugs his shoulders and pretends not to care, but you can tell that the subject bothers him more than he’d like to admit. Might be a good idea to change the subject.

[Wade]: So what does the "Ministry of Defense" make you do?

[Red]: I wait for monsters to show up, and when they do, I kick their butts and go back to sitting on my hands.

He lazily waves his prosthetic hand around, and you notice a Yin/Yang symbol near his wrist. Is his Omnitrix built into his arm?

[Wade]: Gotcha. Do you have any questions for me?

He closes his eyes and thinks carefully about what to say next, but then you hear the loud gurgling of his empty stomach.

[Red]: You hungry?

[Wade]: Oh God, yes. Flying halfway around the world kinda burned up most of my fuel.

He smiles and places his hands behind his head.

[Red]: Then I know just the place.

-------

Red brings you deeper into the city, where the two of you find a rather shabby looking food cart.

[Wade]: You sure about this place? We passed up some pretty swank eateries back there.

[Red]: Yeah, but none of them have anything on these meat buns. People have literally killed for these.

[Wade]: Well, that's concerning.

Red ignored your retort and approaches the muscular old man running the cart.

[Red]: Four please.

[Wade]: Oh cool, we're both getting two?

His eyes widen as he looks back at you.

[Red]: Oh, you wanted two? That's my bad. Make that five!

The old man simply grunts and nods his head. You reach into your back pocket to get some money, only to realize that you only brought a handful of Taydens with you! You don't even know if they accept them in this country.

(Cont.)
>>
[Wade]: Hey Red, does this guy accept Taydens?

You extend a single Tayden to the young boy.

[Red]: Nope, but I do!

He snickers to himself, before snatching the Tayden from your hand and stuffing it in his pocket.

[Wade]: Hey!

You try to protest his blatant robbery, but then he fishes a handful of crumpled bills from his pocket, and slams them onto the counter.

[Red]: Chillax, homie. The meat buns are on me tonight.

This exchange in completely nonequivalent!

[Wade]: But you just-

[Red]: Ooh! The meat buns are ready! Come to Papa…

He completely ignores you and grabs the bag full of steamed meat buns, before finding a nice place for the two of you to sit down.

You remove your mask's mouthpiece as you watch Red tear through one of his meat buns in a rather short amount of time. You aren't even sure if he chewed that thing before swallowing it.

You carefully blow on the piping hot bun, before sinking your teeth into its supple exterior. All of a sudden, a wave of meat juices, diced peppers and seasoning floods into your mouth and assaults your taste buds. The heat burns your tongue a bit, but the savory flavor makes the pain so worth it!

[Wade]: This is incredible! As an alien foodie, I'm impressed.

You look up at Red, who seems to have finished two of his meat buns in the time it's taken you to take two bites. He's really focused on his food too. Better stop him before he chokes.

[Wade]: So uh, about those questions you wanted to ask…

His eyes go wide and he struggles to swallow the lump of food caught in his throat. His cheeks puff up and turn red as he furiously beats his chest, so you hand him his soda to wash it down. The boy drinks about a quarter of his cup before letting out a large sigh.

[Red]: Oh, right. Sorry about that.

His manners are absolutely abysmal. You wouldn't be surprised if he actually hurt himself while eating these delectable meat buns. And there he goes licking his fingers!

[Red]: Hmm. So how'd you get your belt? Did you make it?

[Wade]: A magic space lady named Verdona threw it at me about a year ago. And it was made by a super intelligent alien frog named Azmuth.

His eyes widen upon hearing the words, "alien frog". He leans in a bit closer to whisper to you.

[Red]: That Azmuth guy. Was he...a good guy?

His expression seems to be a very serious one.

>"He's not a nice person, but he's definitely a good guy."
>"I think he tries to be, and that's what's really important."
>"Why the sudden interest? Wanna know more about the Galvan?"
>"I'm pretty sure he's saved the Universe way more than I have, so I'd like to think so."
>"A bit crotchety and abrasive, but not bad once you get to know him."

Well that's kind of a hard question, but you'll try your best to answer it.

[Wade]: He's not a nice person, but he's definitely a good guy. I mean, he's a bit crotchety and abrasive, but not bad once you get to know him. Sure, he'll insult your intelligence and just about everything else about your physical appearance, but...

You go on and on about some of things Azmuth has done to spite you over the past few months that you've known him. You don't notice it, but Red appears to check his phone sometime during your rant.

[Wade]: But at the end of the day, he really is trying to become a better person. And that's what's really important here.

[Red]: Oh, well that's cool…

He nervously shrugs his shoulders as his eyes flicker away from you.

[Wade]: What's wrong?

[Red]: ...There's something I need to tell y-

Just then, a loud ringing noise echoes throughout the streets of Hong Kong, causing you and everyone else to shield your ears. Every digital billboard, television and radio appears to be broadcasting this bizarre signal.

Once it ends, the citizens begin to murmur amongst themselves in confusion.

[Wade]: The hell was that?

[Red]: Uh, X? I think you should see this...

He shows you his phone, and you see a video of a well dressed Raskadarian wearing a red, puffy gown. She appears to be of royal descent.

[Coco]: Citizens of Earth, I beseech you to accept the wonderful opportunity that I am about to offer. Me and my fellow planetary investors would like to offer you all a chance to achieve greatness. With our resources and superior intellect, we shall greatly advance your progress in your respective scientific and medical fields.

The royal rodent's video seems to be broadcasting on every electronic device in the city. Is this a global event?

[Coco]: I ask only that you do one thing for me…

She clenches her tiny fists and bares her buck teeth as her puffy cheeks curl into a wicked smile.

[Coco]: Bring me your planet's owner. Bring me the one you call "X"...

Oh shit, that's your picture up on those screens! You're so glad that you changed your name on the official registry. It was initially under "Prince Bullfrag".

[Red]: What's going on?

You notice that the people around you have started taking pictures of you again, but most likely for a completely different reason than before.

>"No idea. But I'm about to find out. Mind joining me on a little adventure?"
>"Looks like I'm gonna have to put this interview on hold. I'll catch up with you later."
>"Whatever it is, I'll handle it. Oh by the way, you passed." Toss him a slingshot device.
>"Don't worry about her. What were you saying before? You can't leave me on a cliffhanger like that."

[Wade]: No idea. But I’m about to find out. Mind joining me for a little adventure?

His eyes go wide at the prospect of visiting another country.

[Red]: I get to go on a mission without my “backup dancers”? Sweet!

He pumps his fist into the air and hops up in excitement.

[Wade]: I might need to make a few calls though. This could get messy…

You fiddle with your holo-display and browse through your contacts, searching for anyone that might be free to accompany you on your mission to confront the royal rodent. And since you’re already halfway across the world, you might as well make the call international!

[Red]: Ready whenever you are, captain.

You notice that he neglected to bring his suit, or any sort of gear for that matter.

[Wade]: Won’t it be bad if everyone finds out who you are?

[Red]: Trust me, it’ll be so much worse if Mom-

He pauses and loudly clears his throat for a moment.

[Red]: I mean...if the Secretary of Defense found out that I took a day trip to the U.S.

You feel bothered by the fact that he’s willing to go out in public while using his watch.

[Wade]: Fine. But at least wear this.

You reach into your pocket and hand him your spare mask from your amateur days. It was the first one that Olivia knitted for you. You’ve got alot of good memories wearing that sweaty old thing.

Red takes it from your hands and closely examines it with squinted eyes.

[Wade]: Now make sure you take good care of-

The sound of tearing fabric fills your ears, and your heart sinks with it.

It would seem that Red has torn your mask and wrapped it around his face like a bandana.

[Red]: Sorry, it was too big for my head. What were you saying?

You tightly clench your fists and inhale deeply. The only thing preventing you from snapping at this young precocious lad is the knowledge that K8-E will be able to fix it later.

[Wade]: ...Nevermind. Let’s just go.

You quickly sift through your quicklist and select Fourcast, before slamming your hand down onto your belt. You disappear in a flash of violet light, only to reappear as the beloved techno-organic storm sorcerer.

You grab Red by the back of his hoodie and place him on your back.

[Red]: So, what’d you do to piss these guys off?

[Wade]: I’ve got a feeling it’s got something to do with an improvised plan coming back to bite me in the ass.

A torrent of noxious gas spreads from the underside of your body before you launch yourself into the air, while Red holds onto you for dear life.

----------

You soar through the skies , as the wind whips at your protective suit. Your orbs are constantly working to circulate oxygen for Red, while negating the wind chill and wind shear for your fleshy companion.

[Red]: So, who’d you call?

[Wade]: They should be arriving shortly.

And as you say that, you notice a large green and black ship emerging from the cloud line. It’s Ship! And you don’t doubt that Julie is onboard. Although, you wonder if she brought Carol and Malware like you asked.

(Cont.)
>>
[Red]: Is that them?

A flaming meteor whips past your face, and you feel the residual embers sizzling on your helmet. Emerging from the meteor, is your old pal Alan Albrite! He waves at you while surfing on a chunk of molten rock, and you notice the Pyrokinesis charm dangling from his neck as he reveals himself. It’s good to know that he’s kept it safe after all this time.

[Wade]: Yup, that’s them!

You, Alan and Red fly towards Ship, and Julie opens up a space for the three of you to enter.

Once inside, you notice that Julie’s grown her hair out. She now wears pigtails, tied up with two pink hair bands, and it seems that her bangs now hang low over her eyes. Although, she’s wearing the same pink hoodie and white miniskirt that she always does.

[Julie]: Wade! Good to see you.

She pulls you into a hug, and Carol quickly piles on top of the two of you.

[Carol]: Don’t leave me out!

Alan refrains from joining in, mostly due to the fact that he’s on fire. He stands next to Red, who stays quiet in the corner.

>”Nice to see you guys too. How was your tennis tournament?”
>”Hey Alan, how’s boarding school been treating you?”
>”I want you guys to meet Red. He’s got an Omnitrix, like me.”

[Wade]: Nice to see you guys too. How was your tennis tournament?

Carol confidently flips her long, blonde hair and places her hands on her hips.

[Carol]: We absolutely crushed it!

[Wade]: Wait, both of you won?

Julie slowly shakes her head from side to side.

[Julie]: Nope, we both lost. Carol lost to some girl named Sabrina, and I made it to the semi-finals before getting womped by some French girl.

[Carol]: I swear that bitch was cheating! It was like she was using magic or something.

Carol's brief flash of anger subsides when she remembers that a child is present.

[Carol]: Oops. I shouldn't have said the "Bitch" word. Sorry…

[Julie]: Carol!

The blonde ditzy girl tries to apologize once more, but Malware covers her mouth before she can say anything else that might further tarnish her reputation.

[Alan]: I'm pretty sure that actual witches have better things to do than cheating in tennis tournaments.

[Carol]: Well clearly not, because I just faced one.

Alan quells his flame and rolls his eyes at Carol. You can tell that he's gotten taller and a bit more muscular since you've last seen him.

[Wade]: Hey Alan, how's boarding school been treating you?

[Alan]: I was pretty iffy about it at first, but Professor Morningstar has been teaching me alot. Now I can control my powers pretty well.

He ignores his arm up to his elbow, and lets loose a jet of flame that molds itself into the shape of a dragon. The fire dragon flies around the air as he creates flaming rings for the plasma construct to fly through. You and the others watch in awe as he demonstrates his pyrokinetic abilities.

[Alan]: And that's not all. Mr. Morningstar helped me learn more about this amulet, too. He knows alot about magic.

You've never met this professor of his, but he sounds like a nice guy. You're glad that he's enjoying himself over in California.

[Wade]: That's awesome, man! I guess your Dad was right to send you there. How is Charles, by the way?

[Alan]: He's alright. Some of the folks back home are treating him kinda different because they found out about my mutation, but he just shrugs it off. He comes up to visit me every once in a while.

The two of you go back and forth for a while, before you notice that Red's been a bit quiet back there.

You excuse yourself from the conversation and place your hand on Red's back.

[Wade]: Oh right, I almost forgot. I want you guys to meet Red. He's got an Omnitrix, like me.

He shows off his prosthetic arm, and the others get closer to get a better look at it.

[Red]: Uh, hi…

[Julie]: Aww, he's so cute!

Julie fawns over the young asian boy, causing him to become embarrassed.

[Carol]: You can't even see his face.

(Cont.)
>>
Alan tilts his head and cocks an eyebrow at the boy.

[Alan]: Another one, huh? Well at least he doesn't seem as bad as your crazy clone.

[Wade]: Hey, she's not that bad.

Alan appears to be surprised by your bold defense of the woman that attacked your friends and family, but he doesn't pursue the matter any further. You’re glad that you were wearing your mask, because you’re pretty sure you were unintentionally glaring at your friend here.

[Wade]: On another note, have you guys seen the broadcast yet? I don’t know how everyone’s been reacting to it.

Malware slinks out of Carol’s bag and returns to his enlarged form.

[Malware]: Not well. Most of the members of your species are having enough trouble accepting that Earth has an owner at all. I for one do not trust the Raskadarian. Her intentions are unclear, and her methods are ambiguous at best.

[Carol]: I agree with Mal. I didn’t like the look on her cute, chubby face! We should totally jump her.

Carol raises her fist in the air, but the rest of you aren’t so excitable.

[Julie]: Can we please not do anything that’ll start a literal world war?

[Alan]: Yeah, I’m with Jules here. Let’s just take things slow.

Just then, your Plumber’s badge beeps rapidly, warning you of an incoming call. You answer it immediately.

[Wade]: Hello?

[Tripp]: Hey there, squirt! Long time no see.

It would appear that your old bipedal chicken pal has gotten involved in this operation somehow. You still have no idea how her and Dribble made it onto Koba’s elite squad.

[Wade]: Tripp?!

[Dribble]: And Dribble!

Ugh. It’s never good news when these two team up!

[Wade]: What’s going on?

[Tripp]: Princess Coco sent us a set of GPS coordinates through the planetary registry system. We’re sending ‘em to you now, kiddo.

A holographic display pops up on your Plumber’s badge and…oh no...

[Red]: What’s up?

[Wade]: They’re at the UN building in New York…

Red places his hands behind his head and fixes his crooked bandana.

[Red]: So much for taking things slow.

(Cont.)

----------

Julie orders Ship to kick it into high gear, and you manage to complete your trip to the Big Apple in about 15 minutes. Based on what you can see from the skies, it looks like Princess Coco is conversing with several government officials, and both parties have armed guards present.

[Wade]: Take us down, Ship.

You gently pat Ship’s interior, causing him to glow and hum in response.

[Ship]: Ship ship!

Ship quickly descends towards the ground, setting everyone in the area on high alert. You impatiently jump out of the flying vessel before it can properly land, allowing your suit to compensate for the shock.

Once Princess Coco notices you, her eyes go wide and a large grin spreads across her furry face.

[Coco]: Ah, you’ve made it at last! I was growing rather tired of the pretension and pleasantries. Allow me to introduce myself. I am-

>”I know who you are. I just want to know what you think you’re doing here.”
>”You’re trespassing on private property and making a pretty big fuss. Surely, there was a more subtle way for you to contact me."

You grit your teeth and cross your arms as you patiently wait for the princess to finish her introduction. You don’t think pissing her off would be the best tactic here.

[Coco]: I am Princess Coco of Yggdril 4, the sole heir of the golden circuit and a well-known planetary investor. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. X.

She lifts the hem of her dress and performs a curtsy as she lowers her head. Well, it looks like she has good manners, but that squeaky voice of hers eliminates any sort of gravitas that she might have had before you met her.

You aren’t sure how to respond to her greeting, so you formally bow to her to get the ball rolling.

[Wade]: No please, the pleasure is all mine.

A big grin spreads across her face, but it quickly falls once the sound of a large explosion spreads throughout the surrounding area. When you look back, you see what looks like a fallen meteorite embedded into the Earth.

[Coco]: Oh heavens, no…

Princess Coco slowly backs away from the crash site, while the rest of your friends race to join you.

[Alan]: What’s going on?

Suddenly, three figures emerge from the smoking crater, and all of them appear to be aliens. The creature on the left has the appearance of a bipedal bird-man with sharp claws and purple feathers. On his face, he wears a respirator that merges into a domino mask of some sort.

The creature on the right appears to be made of organic metal, and possesses several tentacles on his back. But now that you get a closer look at him, you think that his enter body is made of a tangle of thick metallic cables. And his razor sharp claws are even longer than those of the bird-man.

And finally, the creature in the middle of the two emerges. His appearance is ape-like in nature, but his armor and cybernetic modifications make it difficult for you to discern his species. His right arm has been made into a long, sharp blade that looks as if it could easily slice through reinforced steel. It might be mono-molecular in nature.

His left arm appears to be connected by a long chain that’s been coiled around the limb up to his elbow. He possesses pale, red fur and a plume of blue fur on the top of his head. And like the others, his face is obscured by a metal respirator of some sort.

[Red]: I don’t suppose this is how Americans greet each other?

Red keeps his hand close to his watch just in case things get hairy.

This looks bad. Are these guys bounty hunters?

Despite the tension, Carol waves over to them.

[Carol]: Hey! Are you guys with the princess? If not, then get outta here!

Just then, the three of them run towards you with malicious intent. Julie and Carol equip their Galvanic Mechamorphs and begin shooting at the bird-like alien.

The metallic alien extends his limbs towards Alan, but the Pyronite mutant manages to fend of his assault with a couple blasts of fire. And while your friends keep those two busy, you and Red are left with the monkey man to deal with. The princess cowers behind the two of you while the UN’s guards urge the representatives to retreat back inside of the building for safety.

What do you do?

As the cybernetic ape approaches, you quickly sift through your Quicklist, before deciding on Zipmunk. And in a flash of violet light, your body shrinks considerably, and you feel thick patches of fur growing into your skin. The composition of your blood changes to that of battery acid, and you feel a surge of energy coursing through your veins and tingling along your skin.

You’ve become Zipmunk!

As soon as the violet flash of light fades, Princess Coco’s eyes light up as she lays eyes on your Raskadarian form. The ruffled fur around her neck puffs up and obscures the bottom of her face, and you’re pretty sure you can see her cheeks turning red underneath the white fur.

[Wade]: It’s Showtime!

[Red]: It’s Morphin’ Time!

Red slams his hand down onto his watch, causing his body to disappear in a flash of crimson light, and when he reappears, his body takes the form of some sort of aquatic sponge creature.

While you were distracted by Red’s great catchphrase, the ape alien closes in on you with his bladed arm raised to the air.

>Weld his metal implants together with a concentrated burst of electricity.
>Clamber all over his body with your superior speed, while Red attacks him with whatever ability his alien has.
>Climb onto his back and bite his neck with your taser teeth.
>Combine your powers with the Princess’s in order to fry the ape!
>Magnetize his body and weigh him down with pieces of scrap metal in the surrounding area.

While SPOT WIELDING his implants together, it'll be just as effective while using less electricity.
Or if we're feeling a little violent, we just plasma cut his cybernetics off.

Or we could use the implant's neural connection to zap his nervous system to incapacitate him.

The ape swings his heavy blade down with the hopes of it catching on your sturdy skull, but you manage to avoid the attack by turning your body into pure energy and traveling alongside the blade. Once you reform your body, you trace your sharp claws along his artificial implants with hopes of discovering what they’re connected to.

[Wade]: You connected some of these to your spine? That’s a bad call, chief.

He attempts to shake you off, but your magnetized paws aren’t making it easy for him.

[Wade]: They say it’s like a highway that connects all of the nerves in your body. Here, let me show you.

You absorb the energy from his internal battery packs, before sending it back into his body through his implants. The ape screeches loudly as his hair stands on end from the powerful burst of electricity that’s being transmitted to his every nerve in his body. Once you end your attack, you notice that he’s wobbling back and forth as he struggles to remain standing.

And without warning, a pressurized stream of water blasts the beast backwards. Combined with the energy that was coursing through his damaged implants, the ape’s body spasms one last time before passing out. Luckily, you managed to avoid the attack entirely.

[Red]: That was sweet!

Judging from the water that’s dripping from Red’s body, you figure that he’s the one who shot the ape. You aren’t sure what his forms do, but at least he knows how to use them.

Julie and Carol continue to fire at the bird creature, but none of their projectiles seem to be hitting him. He’s just too quick!

And all of a sudden, he dives down towards Carol and Malware at an impressive speed. With his powerful legs, he pins the two of them underfoot, and before Julie and Ship can react, the bird creature hardens his wings and uses them to deliver a powerful punch to Julie’s armor. The wing punch sends Julie sliding across the ground, and in the short period of time it takes for your friends to recover, the bird alien punctures Malware with his talons, lifts him up with his foot and tosses him into Julie. The two of them collide into one another before collapsing onto the ground.

The bird creature attempts to continue his assault, but he remains stuck in place due to some strange mineral trapping his leg. It sort of looks like...coral?

You follow the trail of coral back to Red, who seems to be producing it from his body. What a peculiar power…

And while the bird alien is distracted, Julie and Carol manage to hit him with a powerful shot from both of their plasma cannons, effectively knocking him out.

The metallic alien desperately attempts to bind Alan with his tentacles, but he manages to deflect each and every attack with the use of several fire constructs that he’s controlling simultaneously.

Realizing that his attempts are futile, he sends a tentacle to destroy nearby fire hydrant. As the water sprays up out of the ground, the metallic alien soaks up the liquid with his tentacles, before funneling it through his body and firing it at Alan in the form of a pressurized jet of water.

Alan reacts by using his flames to evaporate the liquid instantly, but doing so creates a large barrier of steam. And in the moment that his vision is obscured, a large metal fist collides with his thin frame and knocks him backwards.

Luckily, the young mutant collides with Red, who manages to break his fall with his impact-absorbing body.

Before the metallic alien can do anything else, you fire a jolt of electricity at his body, increasing his magnetism exponentially in the process.

His limbs and appendages coil around his body, rendering him immobile. That should stop him from moving around for a while.

[Red]: You okay?

Alan rubs his head and brushes the dust off of his body.

[Alan]: Yeah. Thanks for that…

It’s nice that Alan doesn’t freak out upon seeing aliens now. He’s really matured since you first met him.

You look back at the princess, and she nearly jumps out of her skin as your gaze rests upon her. What’s her problem?

As you approach her, she hastily fixes her fur and fluffs the fur around her neck. But now that you look at her, she seems like the most beautiful creature that you've ever laid eyes upon. The glow of her almond shaped eyes, the curvature of her ears, and the radiance of her snow white scruff are simply enchanting. But it's not like you like her or anything...you're simply making an observation.

Yup. That's it!

>”Now, do you wanna tell me what’s going on here?”
>”You okay? You’re kinda freaking out right now. Must be pretty scary getting attacked like that, huh?”
>”You mind if I question these guys when they wake up? I wanna know why they were after you and who hired them.”

[Wade]: Now, do you wanna tell me what’s going on here?

The princess loudly clears her throat and fluffs the fur around her neck.

[Coco]: Before I proceed, I’ll have you know that nearly everything I said in the broadcast was a lie. I do not intend to debate your ownership over this planet, but I needed a way to get your attention with rousing too much suspicion.

[Wade]: What?! The citizens of Earth literally couldn’t be any more “roused” than they are right now. Couldn’t you have you have just sent me a message like you did with the Plumbers?

She slowly shakes her head from side to side.

[Coco]: I’m afraid not. For I must maintain the appearance of loyalty to those whom I wish to destroy.

She isn’t making any sense. You really wish she’d just cut to the chase.

But before you continue, you examine the area for her loyal subjects. And strangely enough, they’re nowhere to be seen.

[Wade]: By the way, where are your guards? I could’ve sworn I saw them standing around you when I first showed up.

Coco sighs deeply and snaps her fingers together, and upon doing so, four Raskadarians reappear by her side in a flash of white light. All of them possess sturdy metal helmets and polearms.

[Coco]: That is because they ran like gutless cowards at the first sign of danger. I’ve seen Amperi with more spine than the lot of you combined!

In her tantrum, sparks of electricity fly from her fur, intimidating her personal guard in the process.

[Coco]: But you...you’re different.

She points a sharp claw in your direction, and the sultry look that she flashes you makes your body feel uncomfortably hot.

[Coco]: So strong and brave...like a true warrior!

She moves close to you, and the moment your fur touches hers, a powerful burst of energy pushes the two of you away from one another. But before you apologize for the strange phenomenon, the princess scratches her ear and squeals in a high pitched tone.

[Wade]: What’s her deal?

[Trixy]: When two Raskadarians have good chemistry together, they strongly repel one another with their natural bioelectric currents. Such a strong reaction confirms that the two of you would be well suited for each other.

Ah shit! Better change the subject!

[Wade]: So uh, princess? Why don’t you tell me more about the guys you were talking about. Do they have anything to do with the guys that attacked you?

The princess fixes her fur and inhales deeply to compose herself.

[Coco]: Long ago, my people were teetering on the brink of extinction due to our home planet being destroyed several times. And the culprit behind its destruction was none other than "The Great One".

[Wade]: The Great One?

(Cont.)
>>
[Coco]: It is a wretched beast that travels across the galaxy consuming entire planets and leaving lifeless husks in its wake. And ever since we desecrated their ritual place, The Great One’s followers have been relentlessly pursuing us. In order to put an end to the feud and ensure the prosperity of our people, my grandfather made a deal to assist The Great One with his planetary consummation. And regretfully...that role now falls to me.

She tucks her tail between her legs, showing a great deal of shame and guilt.

[Coco]: I implore you, please help me to end their reign!

She tightly clutches your hands with her own, and you feel a tingle of electricity traveling along your skin. You become a bit flustered by her sudden act of skinship, but the bright green flash of Red’s watch timing out snaps you out of your trance.

[Red]: Hold up! So you teamed up with the guy’s that are trying to eat our planet, but now you want us to take them down for you?

She nods to the boy with her eyes fixed on the ground beneath her.

[Red]: How many planets have you let them eat?!

Her eyes drift to the incapcitated assassins that attacked you earlier.

[Coco]: So far, three…

She clutches her dress in her hands whilst gritting her teeth.

[Coco]: I wanted to stop them, but they threatened to destroy my home planet and slaughter my people if I tried anything. And we…

She looks over to her timid guards and sighs deeply.

[Coco]: I don’t think we can handle another war. With the council on trial and the Plumber’s forces spread across the galaxy, we wouldn’t be able to hold out very long...

[Wade]: And you think I can beat this “Great One”?

She wipes her eyes with her sleeve and sniffles a bit.

[Coco]: You’ve saved the galaxy before, and I don’t think I know of anyone more powerful than you. Your demonstration here proves it. So...will you lend me your strength?

You time out in a flash of golden light, causing the princess to shield her eyes.

[Wade]: Don’t worry, princess. I won’t let them get away with this. Not on my planet.

[Julie]: Our planet.

Julie approaches you from behind and places a hand on your shoulder.

[Alan]: So, where do we find these creeps?

Alan smacks his fist against his hand, creating a bright spark in the process.

[Coco]: I do not know. They...neglected to inform me of their whereabouts.

Red and the others look to you with concerned expressions.

So, how do you want to go about tracking these guys down?

[Wade]: I think we’re gonna need everyone on this.

You raise your slingshot device and examine it for a moment.

[Wade]: Plus one.

You put out a message to the remaining members of Team Wakeman. Phil, Olivia, Kirby and Kevin. But you think you might need to call in a bit more help via inter-dimensional group chat.

[Wade]: Hey, is anyone free right now?

Gwen seems to be inactive, so she might still be asleep.

[Charmy]: Yup. I ain’t got nothing going on today. What’s up?

[Wade]: Giant tick is trying to eat my planet. Can you help me?

[Charmy]: Oh shit, haha! It took you this long to meet The Great One? That’s wild!

She floods the chat with emojis for about a minute before responding with another proper message.

[Charmy]: Do you have Cannonbolt? That’s who I used to beat him last time.

[Wade]: I have no idea who that is.

She posts an emoji of an Arburian Pelarota.

[Charmy]: This guy. Roly Poly. You don’t have him?!

[Wade]: Nope.

[Charmy]: OOF! Okay, I’m on my way. Just need to shower and get dressed real quick.

After you close the chat, you notice that you’ve received responses from the rest of your team.

[Phil]: I’ll be right there.

[Olivia]: Team Wakeman is back!!!

[Kevin]: This is a pretty heavy topic to text a dude about first thing in the morning. Omw

[Kirby]: Gotcha. I’ll pick everyone up in the RB.

Kirby’s teleportation spell should prove useful in this situation. You don’t have any time to waste here.

--------

After about 20 minutes, a portal opens up, and from it emerges the Rust Bucket. Once the portal closes, the remaining members of your team pour out of the RV to greet you.

[Phil]: Hey there, champ.

Grandpa Phil greets you with a warm smile and a wave, betraying his grizzly appearance.

[Olivia]: Oh hey, we’re in New York again. Neet!

Olivia acts like an excited tourist as she stares at the massive skyscrapers that surround her. Although, you’re glad to see that she’s gone back to wearing her original Lucky Girl costume. You can see Gwen poking her head out of Ollie’s purse, only to retreat back inside a moment later.

[Kevin]: Been a while since I was last in the Big Apple.

Kevin has a bit of a sour expression on his face for some reason.

[Kirby]: Hello, New York!

Your gazes are directed to Kirby as he exits the Rust Bucket behind everyone else, and you must say, his attire is...interesting.

He wears a green and white Hawaian shirt, cargo shorts, sandals, sunglasses and a rain hat.

[Wade]: Uhhh, Kirby? I’m not sure how people dress in your dimension, but I’m pretty sure that’s not battle gear.

Kirby pulls down his sunglasses and puts on his biggest shit-eating grin, topped with a raised eyebrow.

[Kirby]: C’mon kid, I’m on vacation! And I need to dress like it. The moment I take these clothes off, my stress levels are gonna skyrocket! And trust me, you do not want that.

Well, so long as it doesn’t interfere with his spell-casting ability, you don’t really care what he wears.

(Cont.)
>>
Just then, another portal is torn open near the Rust Bucket. And the one who emerges from it is none other than your teammate Charm/Ben, or “Charmy” as you like to call her.

[Charmy]: Sup.

She examines the group with half-opened eyes, but the moment she catches sight of Malware, she instinctively reaches for her watch.

[Charmy]: You!

Before she can slam her hand down onto the watch, Kirby creates a barrier around the device to prevent her from making contact with it.

[Kirby]: Whoa, easy there...kid…

He squints at her for a moment as he tries to deduce her identity. And when he finally does, his eyes go wide and his mouth gapes slightly from shock.

While Kirby stammers like a fool, Charmy snaps her fingers and destroys his barrier with ease.

[Charmy]: ...What? Do I have something on my face?

She takes a mirror out of her pocket to check her makeup, having completely forgotten about Malware’s presence. Once she’s satisfied with what she sees, she closes the mirror and returns it to her pocket.

[Charmy]: Where were we?

She takes another look at the team.

[Charmy]: Oh, right. You!

She points to Malware, who’s confused and agitated by this sudden development.

>”We don’t have time for that right now! I need you to help us track this tick down before it eats my planet!”
>”Don’t worry. Mal's on our side. Carol can tell you all about it.”
>”Charmy, chill out. No one here is gonna attack you.”
>"Do you guys have beef in your dimension?"
>”Kirby, she’s your wife(Kinda). Can you talk to her for a bit while Alan and Olivia try to track this tick? Just to catch her up on what’s going on.”

[Wade]: Don’t worry. Mal’s on our side. Carol can tell you all about it.

You point to Malware and observe Charmy’s confused expression. Upon witnessing a blonde woman’s face pop out of the chest of the corrupted Galvanic Mechamorph seems to have shocked her.

[Carol]: Hiya!

She narrows her eyes and leaves her hand hovering over her watch.

[Wade]: I promise you, no one here is gonna attack you.

She takes another look at the group before abandoning her defensive posture. You never knew that she was this cautious from the way she posts in the group chat.

Charmy exhales through her nose and places a hand on her slightly raised hip.

[Charmy]: Alright, I’ll take your word for it, bug. So, what do you need me for?

[Wade]: I need you to help us track this tick down before it eats my planet!

[Kirby]: You’re talking about a tracking spell? We’d need an item that belonged to the creature in question.

Kirby recovers from his stupor and contributes to the conversation. Meanwhile, princess Coco approaches you with her guards following close behind.

[Coco]: Do you think this will help?

She brandishes a white scale of some sort from her satchel. You take the scale from her hands and apply a bit of pressure to it, but it does not crack or bend. You don’t even think you’d be able to break this with your suit at max power.

[Wade]: What is this?

[Coco]: It is a scale from that fell from The Great One when he last molted. It is not as durable as his current shell, but I thought you might like to study it.

Charmy snatches the scale from your hands and allows her fingers to travel along its smooth surface.

[Charmy]: Oh yeah, this’ll do.

She surrounds the scale with a pink aura and allows it to drift to the center of the group. The eerie glow of her eyes causes a chill to run down your spine, but you aren’t sure why.

[Charmy]: Alright. Everyone with magic training, enter the circle and join hands.

Olivia, Alan and Kirby step forward and join hands with one another and close their eyes. However, Charmy keeps one eye open as she stares at you with a befuddled expression.

[Charmy]: That means you too, bug. I know you’ve got the potential.

A bead of sweat runs down your back after being singled out. You try to play it cool and laugh it off as a joke, though.

[Wade]: Oh no, I don’t-

[Charmy]: Look. I you really wanna find this tick, then I’m really gonna need you to put your best foot forward here.

You gulp down a dry pocket of air and tightly clench your fists. The others have now opened their eyes to see how this situation develops.

[Wade]: ...Fine. You’re right.

You hear a resounding sigh of relief as you enter the circle and take Olivia and Kirby’s hands. You’re glad that they can’t feel how sweaty your palms are through your gauntlets. Have you always been this terrified of using magic?

(Cont.)
>>
Charmy notices your plight and shoots you a reassuring grin.

[Charmy]: Don’t worry. It’s like riding a bike across the astral plane at warp speed.

You silently nod and close your eyes to join their meditative session.

Well, here goes nothing!

Your eyes flash purple, and your vision is obscured by the overwhelming expanse of the mana field and the astral plane.

Thanks for playing, everyone! The new thread will be up by next week on Wednesday. I've updated the trivia pastebin and the character profile pastebin. I'll work on writing more for the others, but one of my biggest priorities is finishing the prompt I've been writing for Mad Max's finale.

For the next thread, I'll be leading with the holiday special and transitioning back into the main story when it's over. So until then, I hope to see you guys next time!
