The Death Weapon Meister Academy, a prosperous school stationed in Death City. Founded by the god of Death himself, this school is tasked to take in special individuals and train them vigorously for the role of this world’s protectors. It also serves as the Central Headquarters for the prestigious death weapon, including the Eight Shinigami Legion among other military factions allied with Lord Death himself.

Another goal of the Academy is the supervision and training of Demon Weapons said to originated from Archane through Eibori’s notes to keep them from falling astray into madness. Funded by the international powers of the world, this prestigious school is considered a haven for all to hone their skills and one day join the Death Weapon Military Forces. Abnormals such as Witches, Monsters, and Werefolk have also aligned themselves to the cause of protecting the world, though some organizations still refuse to align themselves with their former enemies.

These individuals from the military alongside elite students who prove their merits and the faculty are dispatched around the clock to contain and/terminate all matter of Evil Forces that would threaten humanity. Be they be Evil Humans, Corrupted Witches, Berserk Monsters, or any other form of abnormality and chaos that is an enemy to the natural order of the world.

Students of this academy are rated by a star system with the highest being three stars. Those who have passed the entrance exam are labeled as One Stars. Lucky for you that you managed to pass both the writing exam and athletics exam. Your dream of one day becoming a three-star was now one step closer to becoming a reality.
>>

Speaking of reality, today is orientation, and scattered all around the eccentric entrance of the academy are wannabe meisters and weapons alike, with all the nametags and awkwardness that comes with meeting new people from completely different backgrounds. You are there of course, as a…

>Meister - A martial artist trained to manipulate and harness the power of the soul and wielder of a deadly weapon

>Death Weapon - A living being capable of shapeshifting into a weapon/item as well as becoming a conduit and amplifier for Soul Wavelengths.

>Witch/Sorcerer - A person with special powers that specializes in cultivating and manifesting that power into a strange phenomenon known as Magic.

In addition to your profession, you have been selected to be apart of the academy as a representative of your respective races. As a

>Human - A race of humanoid beings that appear basic and “normal” in comparison to the other races, they hold boundless potential and heighten soul power. Filled with endless possibilities, they make up a large portion of the world’s populous.

>Werebeast - A race of sentient beings that possess the power to shift between a humanoid appearance and a more animalistic form. Their true form is a hybrid of the two as they possess the greatest amount of physical prowess.

>Monster - A race of sentient beings that usually resemble frightening appearances or unusual characteristics. Although biologically similar to humans or animals, they possess supernatural abilities that make for truly formidable entries much like that of folktales.

>Magiborn - An offshoot of humans who carry excessive quantities and/or exceptional qualities of magical power since birth. Although lacking in physical strength and soul potential, their magical potential is boundless as well as possessing strong life force, stamina and vitality.

>Sword - A special humanoid race that predates the modern Demon Weapons. These creatures possess greater volumes of weapon transformation and supernatural power. Like Magiborns, these sentient beings possess much longer lifespans though has far greater physical prowess.

>Mystery Box

And as your name tag clearly states, a...
>Guy
>Girl

From…
>Choose any reasonable origin City on the planet. If you want to be from places like Antarctica, Atlantis or Zealandia, that is also within the realm of possibility. Though that will carry its ups and downs.
Also, do not worry about trying to reach a consensus. If there’s none to be found, I’ll pick out which setup I like the most, but if one is reached then naturally I’ll pick that one. That said, this quest will be treated as an alternate universe in comparison to canon, starting with the first day at DWMA. So divergence from the main storyline will naturally happen, but there will be some major differences.

Miguel tends to get into fights thanks to his bad temper. He is more than aware of this and tends to bottle it up to not bring attention to himself. That tends to fail more often than not.

Right so, from the top. Your name is Francis De la Valiere, a thirteen-year-old demon weapon born into nobility. Or so what your parental guardian has told you last time you checked with him. Either way, you, unlike your actual family, was special. Special in the sense that out of a family of demon weapons, you just so happened to be the rare Sword race. A race of simple, anthropomorphic creatures that are often shrouded in mystery. But it is noted that a single Sword holds far more power than a mere group of ordinary demon weapons.

Compared to other Swords, you appeared to be an average teenage boy of human descend. For some reason, you never really asked about it to your mentor as it wasn’t all that important. What occupied your time in between the ladies was keeping up with training. That is why unlike standard demon weapon users, your current strength allows you to become essentially a solo fighter. Be it through extensive training with your mentor, a mix of natural talents akin to a prodigy or perhaps a little of both.

Whatever the reason, you were able to fine-tune your weapon transformation skills to fight effectively while partially transformed. Although, your full potential is currently a mystery even to yourself as you have yet actually let someone become your meister or tapped into that power yourself yet. Unwilling to let that put you down, you strive to make it through the academy and achieve both the rank of a three-star and the status transformation of a death scythe.

As you looked at the entrance into death city from far on top of a large hill, you took a moment to reflect on your journey. Coming from the regional capital of France, the overwhelming presence that you felt made you almost burst into sweating. Not only were you in a new continent thousands of miles from home, but you were just moments away from stepping into a place so enriched with soul energy. It was like stepping into death’s kingdom. As a result, you couldn’t help but reflect on your past.

It was like stepping into death’s personal kingdom. As a result, you couldn’t help but reflect back to your past.

Walking through a luscious French-style garden, you casually admired the beautify in your home. You wanted to soak up as much as your hometown that you can muster before taking the plane trip to America and starting your studies in the main branch. And yet as you made your way through the gate, you saw a rather familiar face currently sipping some tea on a bench. It appeared to be a small, anthropomorphic man with a very long nose, rabbit-like hands, and feet dressed in a white tuxedo and matching top hat. His cartoonish appearance combined with his dapper look made for quite a compelling character.

To you, however, he was someone you knew personally. For better or worse, he was your mentor. The Holy Sword, Excalibur.

I was hoping it would be at a later date. The guy spends a lot of time as a sword on the ground

btw, is there anything that gives away we are Sword? Uncanny eyes, pompous clothing, big nose, paws, something?
>>
>>3931041
Hell yeah. Sword fingers, blade kicks. Guard wrists, ankle, elbow and knee blocks and parries.

Sword tongue.
>>
>>3931082

Hence why you're in flashback mode. At a later date, there will be something that'll push you to seek out/meet your master. But for now, you're a free sword.

Swords are rare, so to the untrained eye, you appear as a somewhat stronger demon weapon. But there are some differences like sometimes breaking into a cartoon doodle-like Saitama/Tatsumaki as a gag.

But on appearance, you got some special eyes, a slightly pointy nose/ears and sensitive palms and feet like they're paws. But other than that you pass off as a regular joe when not using your powers.

May or may not have sharp teeth.

There he stood, Excalibur currently having not a single care of the world as he drinks his tea. Again, for better or worse he was the man who taught you what it means to be a demon weapon and scrape the surface of the untapped mountain that is a sword’s blessing and burden. Honestly, without his guidance, you wouldn’t be half the man that you are now. There’s no doubt in your mind about that. Even so, there were plenty of things that you could live without.

For instance, Excalibur has the nasty habit of interrupting people and making demands out of the blue. Really there were a lot of things that Excalibur did that managed to annoy to downright irritating people to the point of madness. Some more than others, you weren’t any exception to this. Whenever your master turned his back, you made for a unique face of disgust that only comes out when thinking about him. But even with that, you managed to “tolerate” if not appreciate Excalibur. When it really came down to it, you were proud to call him master.

Unfortunately, Excalibur tended to ruin the mood. Looping back from being a great master to a downright idiot of the highest caliber. That and has a habit of calling you Calibur. In regards to everyone else who he calls “fool”, it’s certainly a much better name although you’d honestly prefer him just calling you by your real name. At worst Excalibur calls you “Foolish Calibur” which is still far from the worst but it still irritates you. As a result, you find yourself unable to want to talk to him, focusing your time admiring the scenery instead.

“So you’re heading off to Death Weapon Meister Academy now, Young Calibur?” Excalibur called out, already making it apparent he knew that you were around. “My, how has time passed. I remember just yesterday when you were barely able to walk, much less transform into a rapier. But look at you now, you only just reach the basics to be a spitting image of a proper sword. Your ancestors should be most proud, Young Calibur.”

Once again you committed to not reply. Instead, your eyes focus intensely at the scenery to keep yourself from seeing what stupid thing Excalibur was doing.

“Anyway, I suppose you wonder why I recommended you to the main branch instead of the EU Division in London?” Excalibur asked, slurping his tea rather obnoxiously.

“I won’t lie and say that it hasn’t been something that’s been brewing in the back of my mind. The EU Division is one of the highest academies out there. It’s not the very best but it’s still in the top five, so I don’t think my skills will lessen if I stay close to home.” You assumed, feeling rather confident that no matter where you train it’ll be good enough. And being around your hometown made it easier to flirt with the ladies.

“A practical answer but a boring one just the same Young Calibur. Like a big fish in a small pond, you have outgrown your hometown. Therefore, you need to experience the world, see the very best that can be offered to you and become a super Giganta fish. King of the underwater kingdom, Atlantis!” Just like that Excalibur has undergone another one of his nonsensical babbles. You managed to understand part of it but the more you listen on to his jibberish the more you find yourself losing your train of thought.

“Just answer the question!” You screamed, almost losing your composure as Excalibur snaps out of it. “Why does it have to be the main bracket Monsieur Excalibur?”

“Oh right, almost forgot. You see Young Calibur, you and I both know you been progressing quite well through your tutelage under me. It has been quite a long time since I have seen someone with your Intuitive Aptitude. As you know most demon weapons are typically partnered with a meister to bring out their full potential. Rarely you’d see any demon weapon who can fight on their own, at least not without becoming a death scythe. Even if you managed that, there’s still years of training needed to be truly effective in the line of duty.”

“So is this the part where you tell me that I’m super awesome to butter me up for the big reveal. Well, you’re totally right but you shouldn’t resort to flattery. Tha’s cheating.” You smiled, it was cleared that your ego was inflating at such superficial praises.

“Don’t interrupt Young Calibur. “Excalibur shouts, almost bonking you with his white can as you snap yourself back into reality.

“While it is true that you can be considered amazing by normal demon weapon standards. By our standards, you are average at best. Although you trained diligently to be a strong, solo death weapon. It doesn’t change the fact you’re still green. Not to mention, your compatibility as a weapon is lacking. How will you expect to have perfect synergy with your meister if you keep this up?”
>>
>>3931408
>>3931425

“Average?! You cal me mastering weapon transformations to the nth degree average! I’m the fabled genius that comes once every century or two. I can practically transform on reflex and on instinct. So tell me how exactly am I just average?” You cried out.

“Yes but you haven’t mastered the Autonomous Skill yet haven’t you. “ And just bring up two very simple words, you felt that overinflating ego suddenly burst and deflates itself to a defeated wrapper. You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything as you turn your head in shame and disappointment.

“As I thought. You still don’t fully know yourself. If one doesn’t know themselves then they can’t bring out their full potential. As a fellow sword, I know how troubling it can be to find those that you don’t want to cooperate with. But as a weapon, we must lend our strength to those who need it and work together to bring out the very best of our combined power.” Excalibur explains, all while starting to tap his feet to a beat inside his head.

Some french sentences in case of arguing :
Mais, maître, je suis parfaitement capable de me débrouiller sans Meister !
(English "Master, i am perfectly able to fight without a meister !")
"... Maître, je veux pouvoir rencontrer l'élue de mon coeur et de mon arme"
(Here it is a bit tricky, because "âme" (soul) and "arme" (weapon) are close word in french. Basically, he says he wants the one who is the chosen of his heart and soul)
"... Maitre, vous savez très bien que nul ne m'égale !" **Pose like excalibur**
>>
Good afternoon everyone. Getting myself setup to continue. But before that, I have just one question to ask everyone.

In Soul Eater, there are 3 teams that serve as the main focus of the story. Now Francis is the protagonist team if he so chooses to find a meister worth his talent.

What I'm asking the rest of you is do you want to create the Deuteragonist and Tritagonist and control their action/switch to their perspective when it fits the story. Or do you want to leave all that to me and just soley focus on Francis's journey.

I should've probably asked this earlier so my apologizes for this slight confusion.
>>
>>3931928
I would rather only have one pov, but swapping out for important things is ok so long as it doesn't end up taking too long
>>
>>3931928
I'm fine with that, I've always liked having different points of view. That and Francis character doesn't strike me as much of a protagonist so having multiple characters filling the main character niches would let him keep his archetype without leaning too much in one way or the other, or at least that's what I think.
That said, chargen is a bit of a hassle so maybe make the new characters yourself or use the ones we made above.
>>
>>3931947
>>3931946

Thanks for your input so far. I do know if I were to do that, I'd probably use the characters that interest me the most. So chances are our Trinity of Main Characters will be Demon Weapons.

In hindsight, that's quite a nice parallel compared to actual canon where the mains are meisters.
>>
>>3931956
A trio of weapon self reliant. That could be fun.
>>
>>3931956
Can weapons wield weapons? I can imagine Francis letting another weapon use him
>>
>>3931956
That's actually a nice twist to it with the three mains being weapons, plus alternating povs are a nice breath of fresh air.

>>
>>3931995
If the weapon is a friend ? Totally.
>>
>>3931995

Weapons can wield other weapons as seen with Patty and Salma, but it's a harder process normally since it takes a lot of skill to pull off resonating with another weapon similar to a meister. If you want to achieve the best of your abilities.

Francis doesn't exactly have that kind of problem since as a member of the rare sword race he has the potential to be wielded by anyone and still achieve his full strength. But that also depends on his state of mind.
>>
I also like the fact they are all weapon made for stabbing or countering the ennemy.
>>
>>3930635

I may do something with this at some point down the line since it's my fault for missing this guy.

“Mais, maître, je suis parfaitement capable de me débrouiller sans Meister!” You argued. The very thought of your master implying that you were weaker because you weren’t dependant on a meister was an insult to your honor. You spent all of your life training diligently and proudly honing your skills to avoid that pitfall. You couldn’t help but let your french tongue slip out to keep some semblance of regal nobility.

Fortunately, Excalibur was perceptive enough to read any language without a problem. Be it through his soul resonance synching himself with the individual and translating it, reading their heart’s emotion or through some otherworldly effect where he can read the subtitles underneath. Whatever method he chose, Excalibur remained observant to your little rant while slurping on his tea obnoxiously.

“Second more, I know myself very well thank you very much. For instance, I know that even without the Autonomous Skill I’m still on a league above ordinary Demon Weapons. I’m not exactly helpless like them who need others to be functional. I’m brilliant, I’m graceful, I’m confident, I’m a shining star of illuminating valor and honor. So what if I don’t have a meister partner. If anything that should be more impressive. To handicap my splendid power and relying only on my strength to overcome any adversity and challenges to reach the top of the summit. After all...”

"... Maitre, vous savez très bien que nul ne m'égale!” As you say those words, you took the initiative to pose dramatically to add further weight to your words. In noble fashion, you took to assume the pose of the noble bird the Gallic rooster as it spreads its wings down to the populous before soaring into the sky. Of course in actuality, it can’t fly far but for the people, it was enough to symbolize the proud spirit of France. Even if you didn’t want to admit it, in some ways you were exactly like your mentor.
“If that’s how you see it, then I am only more convinced that you need to head out to the main branch, Foolish Calibur.” Excalibur states, pointing his cane just millimeters from your eye in dramatic fashion.

HUH!?!” You exclaimed. “Also my name is Francis!”
>>
>>3932115

“Listen well Young Calibur. It is not a sin nor a sign of weakness to work alongside your comrade. There things out there in this world that you can’t tackle on by yourself. Sometimes you need to work together with others to make the impossible possible. The world isn’t insignificant that one can alleviate themselves to being a one-man show. That’s not how it works. “ Excalibur retorts, slapping his cane to the ground after spinning it around while he talks.

“Not everything can be regarded as the same as a musical theater master.” You uttered, pointing out your master love for the theatre and all things relating to it including drama. It was only one of the few quirks that he carries that truly proved he was a sophisticated man. At least not without it later becoming a paradox or parody of itself.

“Nonsense, if you keep an open mind you’ll be able to see the world as a stage and every stage is a world of endless possibilities. Everyone has their role in this life and it isn’t something that can be easily labeled or described with mere words. “ Once again you felt like Excalibur wasn’t making a lot of sense with his analogy. Even if there was some truth of it that currently escape your current sense of self.

“Maybe so but it’s up to me to decide rather or not I want to share the spotlight with someone. But if I do, they’ll be someone who can stand on their own two feet. We do not need each other to be the very best. If we stick together it’ll only because we choose to. Anything less then that will never be someone I’ll acknowledge much less respect as a partner.” You proudly declared, not willing to bug an inch towards that decision. Even if the academy tries to assign you with one, you’ll reject it without question. For you, going against your code was the highest insult to your honor and ambition. And by any means, you will not let that happen.

That aside, there was just one more reason why you were adamant about being picky with your partner. In your head came thoughts of romance with that special girl who you have sworn to protect as a valor knight. The noble princess in your life.“Maître, je veux pouvoir rencontrer l'élue de mon coeur et de mon arme!“

“That’s another reason why you’re going. I want you to take your role seriously and not just flirt with any girl on the street. The main branch has the very best the world can provide. Surely you’ll find someone worthy to stand alongside you. Or at the very least you’ll be too busy with your duties to waste time on trivial nonsense like dating.” Excalibur shouts, breaking you out of your fantasy and lecturing you harshly for your womanizing ways.

“You might think I’m being hard on you but I’m just doing my best as your mentor to make sure you walk down the right path. I’m confident going to the main branch will do you good. And you’ll finally see what true power is.”

With that last line, you find yourself returning back to the present time. Staring closely at the background, you let out a deep sigh. That nervous feeling suddenly disappearing as quickly as it came. Thinking about your master’s last worst put things back into perspective. Or more likely seeing his bothersome mug made you too irritated to feel petty things like anxiety or fear. These lands might not be the glorious Paris you made yourself so accustomed to, but you weren’t going to let a place like Death City’s gothic aesthetics bring you down.

You are putting more faith in me than I do.
Since the french guy is a self-absorbed perv might as well keep the stereotype trend and have her squatting with bearfolk while wearing a fluffy hat.
Aside from her cheeky breeky quirks she's fairly level headed, not too quick to anger or laugh but a bit too quick at assuming stuff. She might answer "Are you dense?" with "I'm fine, thanks!" and realize two seconds later. She got her weapon genes of her dad, who taught her all she knew of fighting but maybe not as much as he could have, since most loving parents can be a bit overprotective.
Besides that, she's fairly reliable with "normal" skills, physical or intelectual, getting an accent or exercising.
Aside from all that, go wild I guess.

As you’re walking through the hill, you took your time to notice the scenery. From what you saw on your airplane trip to death city, it was a giant wasteland surrounded with dry rock and actual desert sand. The desert-like wasteland extended as far as the eye can see, giving it a wild west kind of theme. Beyond that was a flourishing jungle forest that extends throughout the horizon. Lucky for you that the airport you came from was a more lively boardwalk, with the only noticeable scenery was the giant wall.

Judging from the wall it stretched far and wild, making you briefly compare it to the great wall of china. But you didn’t ponder about it as you make your way inside through the giant hill, serving as part of the outskirts of Death City. Once inside the actual city, your conception of the city was blown away in an instant. Cross between the industrial revolution of New York and the classical Victorian era in London, it felt oddly appealing despite the contrast. Seeing the different buildings and all their many shapes certainly gave off the gothic aesthetic. To you, it feels almost surreal in its supernatural factor.

Unfortunately, you didn’t have time to explore the lands and take in your surroundings. So you settled for the little sample during the time it took you to reach the DWMA building. Upon arrival, yet again your definition of normality and regalness was destroyed by what was in front of you. Towering through what seems like an endless line of stairs was a gargantuan academy building. The academy from a closer range appeared to be a giant castle standing on top of three giant skulls. Someone has an eccentric personality to build such a thing.

“It looks more like a funhouse than a school…” You muttered walking towards the sign-in booth. As you take notice, your eyes look up to the laughing sun in the background. You weren’t sure how but it’s appearance compliments the school and made it better.

Making your way to the booth you underwent the standard identification. To make your way to the school, you needed to comply with security and prove you’re a student. Casually you flashed out your passport, student identification and other important documents to the spooky patrol. Naturally, they overlook through the documents before confirming that they were legitimate. You didn’t complain about it since this was expected. The crowning academy would be a prime target for acts of terrorism.

I don't have a preference, just gonna say that our characters don't look like 13 year old kids but I guess this is anime land. Or we can do like X-men

After finishing up the check-in and security process, you find yourself starring once again at the seemingly endless staircase. Just staring at it was rather depressing to think about. And to think the students probably have to climb these stairs every day if they wanted to head out into the city or do missions. If nothing else, the pamphlet you read about the school on the way here wasn’t lying about it being a good source of a daily workout.

Instantly you turned to look for the elevator to skip this notion of roasting in the heat climbing up these stairs. There weren’t any from your current viewpoint but you estimated it was most likely on either side of the building for convenience. If that was the case it was probably going to take a long time trying to find it and achieve the same amount of energy and time wasted. So might as well just pace yourself walking through the stairs. Your mentor Excalibur didn’t raise no lazy layabout who can’t even run a marathon.

Taking the first step you began your long trek through the countless stairs. With patience and dedication, you feel like getting to the top of the stairs is a strong possibility. Easier said than done as you slowly came to realize just how boring the task is. Just in ten measly minutes, you managed to make just one-sixth of the way there. Now that was impressive for the normal folk who were lagging behind but for someone of your status that was just unacceptable. Part of you started considering going back and looking for the elevator.

As your eyes narrow at the scenery, a voice suddenly echoes across your head. What in the hell are you doing?! Are you going to let a little thing like these stairs defeat you?! You are Francis De la Valiere damn it! Now get back on those stairs and style on this worthless challenge with your superior nobility. Feeling your inner self chanting loud and proud motivated you. Not only were you going to make it to the top but you were going to do it in style and in record time.

Triggering your weapon transformation powers, your feet or more specifically the soil of your shoe and bottom foot transfigurate themselves into rapier blades. But you weren’t finished yet, the rapier started to coil and compact itself at rapid speeds. Through your ingenious creativity, you now sported a pair of spring lock shoes. Only someone who spent his time finetuning his weapon transformation skills to your extent can pull off out of the box stunts like this.
>>
>>3932783

“Let’s hop to it.” You smiled, crouching down on your rapier springs before shooting high into the sky. Just as expected you found yourself hoping up the stairs like a super frog. To the onlookers who were walking up the stairs, they could only see a blur traveling at high gear like a majestic superhero.

“Wahaha. Now, this is how it’s done! I should’ve done this at the beginning.”
As you laugh to yourself in celebration, something begins to take notice at the corner of your ear. From what you can tell you caught a glimpse of what appears to be a brunette girl in Russian school uniform currently accelerating at top speed. In an instant, she manages to pass you by as she’s heading towards the very top. Also, you weren’t sure but you think you heard screaming.

Was it a scream of excitement just like you or something more.….distraught. With how fast she was traveling it was almost impossible to exactly hear what she was saying. So you chalked it up to just imagining things. In any case, judging from her speed and trajectory, it looks like she launched herself pretty far, perhaps from the very bottom of the staircase. Although her form was rather rigid and stiff, it seems that she was still managing to make near perfect flight. You couldn’t help but be mildly impressed at the stunt.

Still, you feel like there was something off about it in the brief moment you caught a glimpse of the mysterious brunette. Quickly it came to you that she wasn’t operating on proper flight or falling strategy. Part of you was considering giving her some good advice. Such as curling up her limbs, fucking her head to the side. And relax the body while adjusting yourself to go with the flow and shift the body’s weight to land on the side. Or at least on a more squisher body part to prevent injury. That's something you could…..had you not come to see the truth of the spectacle.

“THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!” You screamed a fiery aura excerpts from your body. This mysterious girl was challenging you. Not only was she planning on making it to the top but she was to do it in the most unprofessional manner. As a noble sword, you couldn’t bring yourself to let such acts of shameful arrogance go unabated.

Dropping down hard onto the ground, you build up tremendous pressure and leg strength. The rapier springs contracts and compresses itself deep into your body. Almost appearing as if your legs were retracting, making you shorter in the process. While it can be as hard as reinforced steel, it also can be supple like that of a bungee cord or a metal spring. Therefore, it was easy to withstand the pressure as you build up momentum.

Once ready for take-off you begin to shoot yourself at tremendous speed, cracking the stairs and creating a strong backdraft in the process. Quite possibly blowing away all the bystanders, as a certain blue-haired boy was screaming in the background as he falls down the stairs. Of course, you didn't hear it properly and could only assume he was cheering for you to make it to the top. Traveling at top speed, you easily caught up to the flying brunette. Just in time to have a chat.

“Let me tell you something strange flying brunette. As charming as you are, I’m afraid that I can’t let you rise higher than me. So bedazzled by my brilliance as I ascend ahead and make it to the top. Try not to fall for me too hard.” You spoke, making to make a rather cool one-liner before pushing ahead like a shooting star. Naturally, you refrain from turning your head back to look at what you assume to be an awestruck maiden. After all, you’re the cool playboy knight.

At the very top of the stars were several students, some of them were catching their breath while others were socializing with others. All in all, it was a typical school scenery despite the endless stairs. Before anyone could have time to blink, a sudden blond figure dramatically descends to the ground. As expected, you made for a rather lavish landing. You could only smirk to yourself, expecting to be cheered by your student body as you undo your transformation and stand tall.

“Looks like I’m the winner...as usual~” You smirked, turning to be met with a rather beautiful sight. The school stood at the very top of Death City. Allowing you to see such a breathtaking view as countless buildings throughout the land, a beautiful clear sky with white clouds, and a smiling sun with a shining radiance. It was worth making it to the top without breaking a sweat after all.

As you come to expect, all eyes are currently on you. If even if you yourself, it was only inevitable that your brilliance will shine through and mesmerize the populous. Such was the price you paid for being born a sword, a higher grade than an ordinary death weapon. Things like victory were as effortless as breathing. Still, seeing yourself make it as the victor certainly, put you in a good mood. As a noble sword its to be expected that you’ll exceed as the very best of the best. That said, you were an honorable individual. It was beneath you to use cowardly tactics or underhanded methods.

Defeating your adversaries fair and square is the only way to prove true superiority while respecting the enemy. Therefore, you swiftly turn to the other side to look at what you assume was your bested opponent. On the off chance they were stuck you were ready to give a helping hand and swoon the maiden off her feet even further. It was both the right thing to do, and it was a great way to score some points with the ladies.
----

On the other side of the spectrum lies an unfortunate victim. That victim was known as Kadentsiya Novikov or Cadence for short. A thirteen-year-old girl from Mother Russia labeled as a transfer student from the EU branch. Currently lying face-first on the ground with your bottom half sticking out. If someone were to tell you that you were going to be sent flying at crazy speeds just because of a misconception, you’d call them a liar and walk it off. Yet here you are, at the top of the seemingly endless stars, digging your face full of dirt and grind.

To make matters worse was that strange blond-haired boy. That same eccentric, self-absorbed playboy narcissist who mistook your screams of terror and wild flailing as a declaration of challenge. Not only did he refuse to help you when you need it most, but he has the nerve to flirt while boasting before leaving you in the dust and even more unable to control your trajectory. If you weren’t currently buried deep in pavement you’d have half a mind to blow that jackass to kingdom kong.

But before any of that, you start to reflect on the steps that led you astray and put you down this difficult path. The earliest memory you carry was at the age of seven. For some reason, you were an unfortunate victim of a traumatic event. The details were quite fuzzy and you weren’t sure exactly why but doctors were led to believe due to the trama you blocked out the memory among countless others relating to your early childhood. As a result, you were often sheltered and protected by your father and mother.

Aside from that, you lived a rather normal life. The only thing connecting you to that traumatic event was you awakening your demon weapon genes. On an honest opinion, it was a toss up on whether you would be a meister or a demon weapon considering your father is a weapon and your mother was a meister. Yet for some reason, you felt a strange rhythm that lingers within the core of your soul. A rhythm in the form of a lullaby. You couldn’t make out the noise but it carried an oddly nostalgic feeling whenever it plays.

Because of it, you find it rather easy to transform into a weapon and utilize your optimized capabilities without a meister. Most chalked it up to good genes or natural talent. But for yourself, you couldn’t shake off the distinct feeling that something is abnormal about yourself. It’s that uncertainty that leads to you having semi-frequent nightmares. A nightmare that you remember vividly as you unknowingly drift back into the depths of your mind to remember it.

Suddenly you find yourself trapped within what appears to be a giant clear tube. Submerged in what can be considered a special purplish goop. Looking down at yourself you were in your birthday suit, covered with wires attached to multiple parts on your body. Panic starts to rise as your attention shifts elsewhere to notice your surroundings. Surrounded from both sides were a multitude of children of different sizes and ages. Each one seemingly lifeless and deprived of life.

Seeing yourself trapped inside left a rather unnerving feeling. You weren’t even sure if the green gel allowed you to breathe much less if it was safe to inhale. Combed with the overwhelming feeling of dread and lifeless, it was only natural that you reacted negatively to your surroundings. Quickly you begin slamming your little arms into fist out of desperation. Any little crack or dent to try and force yourself out of this death trap. The more you slammed against the surface, the deeper your breathing became.

Almost to the point of hypervalent, you continued to slam at the test tube violently. If anyone was in your position, they would’ve most likely react with the same emotion and act the same way. At first, it seems like your efforts were futile given that the glass hasn’t shown any sign of wearing down. No matter how hard you hit it, it continues to show no effect. That sinking feeling of despair only pushed you further down a corner. It all seems like whoever trapped you in this tube made sure that escape was next to impossible from the inside.

And yet, it’s that desperate situation that begins to sprout change. Cracks were beginning to form the more frantic and erratic you became. Over and over you kept repeating the same thing. Acting, in the same way, expecting the result to be different. You didn’t even care that your hands started to bruise and give way to cuts. The only thing you wanted more than anything else was your freedom. And nothing was going to keep it as you reached your breaking point.

“Let me out!” You screamed, slamming you're balled up fists deeply against the surface. Sparks started to come from your body as your eyes turned into a dark shade of gold. Even your pupils were slit from the sudden flow of adrenaline but something else added in the mix. In any case, your act of brute force manages to shatter that tube in an explosion of violent force.
>>
>>3934366

Sliding out of the tube in a loud thud, you find yourself briefly submerged in the greenish gel-like liquid. Although now reduced to a sticky mess, it ironically provided you with some much-needed coverage in an awkwardly formed skin-tight bodysuit. There’s probably a lot of questions you should probably ask in this current situation. But the only thing running through your mind was getting out of this place and putting as much distance to your kidnapper as possible Picking yourself up from the ground, followed by some deep breaths, you start running for your life.

Fear has completely taken over as you leave the holding cell. The fate of the others wasn’t a concern you have luxury for. But deep down you didn’t want to confirm whether or not the others are already dead. All you can do is tell yourself to keep running and don’t stop for anything. Unfortunately, your long marathon of running wildly would lead you to an unforeseen problem. From atop of a long staircase was a massive maze-like catacombs that goes as far as the eyes can see. Time was of the excess but already you were met with a grim ordeal.

Countless different pathways that seemingly went on forever. Some carried deadends while others were structure to loop around in an endless cycle. This place was a madhouse with no exits in sight. Not to mention the possible booby traps and other hidden obstacles lurking in the dark. That bone-chilling fear started to further creep up your body, slithering like a snake with the intent to sink its fangs into your heart. Bringing you into full despair and breaking down into madness and sorrow.

Before you had any time to think about it, your body has already made the move for you. Although terrified to the point of not being able to think straight, here you are currently running straight into the lion’s den. Survival instincts have kicked in, triggering a flight or fight response to combat the situation. Ultimately you come to agree with this suggestion even if you didn’t understand it currently. There was no time to turn back, and even if there was you didn’t want to. How could anyone go back to that place after trying so desperately to escape from? No, the only thing that was going through your mind was escape.

Therefore, your subconsciousness started to resonate deeply with your heart’s inner desire. Suddenly a resonating blue aura begins to emerge from your body. From head to toe, your body envelops the aura around yourself like a coat of armor. Simultaneously, your legs start to move faster than normal as your body performance skyrockets. In your fearful state, you couldn’t understand what was happening but at the same time, you felt a sense of safeness. Even as you came close to running into a giant wall you continue to run.

As a result, your body ends up passing through the wall, blowing it away into nothing. It wasn’t just the wall, but the entire maze-like catacombs. For some reason, the path to you was now as clear as day. A straight hallway with a door at sight. Again, you didn’t understand what was going on but it didn’t stop you from moving forward. Eventually, you find yourself leaving the creepy laboratory and stood outside in the middle of nowhere. A vast tundra surrounded by glaciers and rugged snow.

“...This can’t be…” You muttered, dropping to your feet in disbelief. Essentially you were in the middle of nowhere with no sense of direction or indication of where you are...

“Oho...Look at this now. To think at such a young age you’re able to manifest that power As expected, you really do make for a fascinating specimen. Unfortunately, that’s not the power I’m looking for.” From the shadows on this moonlight night rang a rather alluring yet terrifying figure with an equally impactful feminine voice. Standing right in front of you with tremendous pressure, it was a cloaked individual. Although her silhouette gave way for a womanly figure, it was shrouded in darkness, the only thing visible was a crimson glow and snake-like metal plate for eyes. How could something as simple as a mere attempt to pet your head be so terrifying? Even if you weren’t currently a scared, seven-year-old girl, it was highly likely you’ll still feel overwhelmed by her presence. For a moment, even time itself begins to stop as everything goes black. The chilling sensation, the tremendous pressure, that unnerving fear, it was all suffocating to you. Already you start having trouble breathing given the wicked atmosphere. If this keeps up, you were sure that you’ll break. This woman was colder than any tundra and just as deadly.

Quickly you regain your sense of time as you slap your hands against your knees. Giving them the strength to act once again. Because of how venomous her resonating aura is, you didn’t hesitate to pull back from the mysterious woman. Following that your right arm swiftly morphs itself into that of a toy musket. Given your age and state of mind, it was fitting form for your current weapon powers to muster. Heck, the fact you can muster them at all was a miracle. But you felt like this mysterious woman did something to you to trigger them.

“Don’t come any closer!” You yelled, attempting to put up any semblance of a brave face while pointing your musket arm at the mysterious entity. “...You’re going to tell me exactly what I want to know. If you don’t...I’ll” You muttered in between shaking. Although you were just a child, you were put into a rather difficult situation. Despite not fully understanding, your instinct told you that if you retaliate, the worst possible scenario can happen. And there’s no coming back from it.

The mysterious woman starts to chuckle at your attempt at trying to act tough. All while knowing just how afraid you truly are. “Hmph. How amusing. Very well, I’ll answer your question for now since you’re being awfully brave”

“W-Where am I? What did you do to me? What happened to the others, what did you do them?“ You asked, ignoring your captor’s chuckling as best as you can. You didn’t want to lose this chance to ask her exactly these questions. Who knows when you’ll get the chance to hear them.

“Typical but practical questions to ask. It’s adorable seeing you trying to be an adult when your legs are shaking immensely.” She smiled, slowly approaching forward rather ominously. In response to this, you clocked your toy musket, turning off the safety as an intimidation act.
>>

“I said don’t take another step! Now answer my question…” You barked.

“I did promise you that. Very well. You are in the artic, far from your homeland in Russia, currently in one of my many secret hideouts. As for what I did to you, well there’s a lot of things I did to you for a long time~ But to summarize, I enhanced you in order to awaken the sleeping powers that lie within you. To optimize the true potential in your blood and make something that surpasses even my eldest sister’s experiment. Just a little pet project to help serve my main goal. “The mysterious woman explained rather clearly despite being cryptic. But despite not knowing the full extent of what she has done, you still have confirmation that she did, in fact, do something to you. Knowing that put your mind at ease, but only briefly as more questions start to brew.

“As for what I did to the others. The same as you~” She smiled, stretching her arms out in an exaggerated shrug. Clearly not taking this seriously despite giving you some cold, disheartening facts.

“W-What..”You muttered. Some part of yourself didn’t want to believe that. To believe that they went through the same experience as yourself. You tried to rationalize it by thinking you must have misheard her. But that ominous smile kept you from fully accepting that wishful thinking.

“Hard of hearing? I said I did to them exactly the same that I did to you. But-” Before she would continue, she subtly take another step and distracts you by shifting her attention to the laughing moon. “-unlike yourself, they didn’t carry that missing element. That unforeseen factor that would’ve allowed them to survive this chain of experiments. Such a shame too since there were plenty who were stronger than you, faster, more potent, etc.” As she says this, you picked up a rather disappointed sigh in her voice. Almost like you weren’t her number one choice. As if that would’ve made you better, but it just goes how insignificant you truly are to her.

“Either way, their souls will be good offerings to my main project. And having at least one person survive the ordeal will do me good in discovering what makes you tick.” She responds, turning back to you with that same smile. You almost reel back further out of fright.

“Why…”You muttered to yourself, almost on repeat. Your resistance was starting to fall apart the more you hear these truth bombs. Hand clinches deeply at your musket, body shaking in constant fear at the worst-case scenario being more likely.
>>
>>3935583

“Why did you do all of this?! Why me?! Why am I the only one still alive?! Those must be the questions you’re too scared to ask. Don’t fret, you’ll get your answers soon as we return back to the base.” Hearing her talk about taking you back to that wretched place was enough to snap you out of your panic attack and point the gun back at your captor.

“Just answer me!” You screamed. At this point, you were close to your breaking point just being near such a terrifying person. It was almost like her very presence was madness itself as you felt your sanity weaken.

“Simple, because you are a demon weapon and also a meister. Perhaps more so than those other test subjects I took. A true genuine article. The fact you survived my experient is proof of that. While not a perfect fusion, in time I’ll make that sleeping gene of yours fully awaken. Till then, I think its time that I reward you for breaking out.” With a crazed grin, the mysterious woman starts marching forward. Immediately you pull your arm back, aiming your gun at her chest. Yet she didn’t flinch one bit at your attempt to get her to back off.

“Come on...shoot me. Shoot me and set yourself free from this place. If you do that, you’ll never be afraid again. You won’t feel confusion or anxiety or any other kind of useless emotions that’ll hinder your true potential. A nice trade-off for just dying your soul black.” She smiled, continuing to come closer and closer. Her chest now just millimeters from the riffle as you tremble in shock. “Come on, shoot me. You know you want to~”

>Hey guys I finally got some free time what's going on-
Oh. Oh no...
>>
>>3935715

Bang! Following the loud crackle was a series of gunshots. Fear has completely taken hold of you and drives you to your breaking point. After all that taunting and terrorizing, it was only natural that you’d pull the trigger and fire at the mysterious woman. Right at her chest at point-blank range like she was asking for it. There were too many factors to count that led to this unfortunate outcome. Especially for a frightened seven-year-old child. Even so, no matter what the reason, to act on murderous impulses….it brought you to tears.

How could you handle this any other way? Your world practically went black as you dropped to your knees sobbing. Now your musket hand didn’t stop firing those bullets in your wailing. You didn’t even check if she was dead or alive with each shot. For all intent purposes, she ended up succeeding in breaking your spirit and driving you into a frenzy. Almost as if the madness that the mysterious entity has pushed you to this conclusion. Not that it matters now as you continued to cry once you were out of bullets.

” See? I knew that you can do it if you try. Good..very good.” A mysterious voice rings inside of your head. Instantly you shift your eyes to the mysterious entity who seemingly disappeared from your sight. Unable to see where she went your eyes started to dart rapidly towards where she could have gone. All while your shadow starts to move rather erratically as it starts to ascend upwards. Meanwhile, on your musket arm, it suddenly starts shifting from its usual auburn brown color to a pitch-black blackwood.

By the time you notice the change, it has already spread to half of your torrent arm. Rightfully freaking over this you try to transform your arm back to normal. However, in mid-transformation it only morphs itself further, taking the appearance of the same weapon yet again. Only this time it was fully black as it starts to spread further. Once again you tried to change your arm back to normal only to be met with the same result over and over. Unaware that it was spreading throughout your entire body in the form of black markings.
>>

"Don’t fight it now. Let it flourish inside of you. Nurture it, cultivate it, keep it safe ...until the fateful day ...where it’ll awaken and you’ll truly become the strongest weapon. Afterward...I’ll come back for you. My precious [black]Black Candy~”[/black] As the voice spoke, the black marks spread over to one of your eyes. Upon doing so it transformed into that of a golden yellow eye with the blackened sclera, pupils slit like a reptile. As your shadow stares with blank circle eyes, it was shaping itself to look more like some sort of jester. More specifically...a harlequin. As you looked up to see it, you only smiled in response, matching the woman’s creepy grin as the harlequin did the same as it reaches for you.

“Gaaah!” You screamed, rising from your bed immediately without warning. Dounce in a cold sweat your heart was racing at an accelerated rate. Your breathing was shallow and rapid, not to the point of hyperventilating but still concerning all the same. Imminently you quickly pull out your dominant gun hand only to see that your arm was completely normal. Yet you still touch your face, feeling yourself close to having a panic attack.

Speaking of a panic attack you felt your breath becoming shallow. It was getting harder to breathe like you were fighting the urge to gag. The sense of nauseous dread creeping up closer by the second. Quickly you dart up from your bed, covering your mouth against the sudden coughing fit. Luckily enough for you, it didn’t take long before you made it to the bathroom. Dropping your head immediately towards the toilet did you start vomiting. Your dominant arm holding your head back by the hair.

In retrospect, you were far too young to experience a “traditional” morning sickness. But with how frequent this happened every time you have that vision, it might as well be your morning ritual. At least it came out quickly than prolonging it with dry-heaves, so that was already signs of getting better. Still, you felt there were much better ways to spend your morning than puking black vomit. Or at least you assume it was, it was hard to tell given the lighting in the room.

Eventually, it came to an end, with the only lingering feeling was the taste of blood.
Once again you find yourself lying next to the toilet seat currently out of it. Just another morning for Kadentsiya Novikov. That familiar feeling of dread told you that you had that dream again, though nightmare would be a more accurate assessment. Although despite how semi-frequent it has been, there are many things about it that you don’t particularly remember. The sickness of the nightmare quickly fades as it comes along.

Despite not remembering the full story, there was something etched in your soul. A gut feeling that served a premonition. Someone out there has done something vile to you, and that person will one day return to claim you. Going beyond that, you also have a strange feeling that whatever that nightmare was its connection to your trauma. Something so horrible that your memories of that time were sealed away to keep you from permanently shattering into pieces. Memories you weren’t sure if you wanted back or not.
>>
>>3936853

Even so, you knew deep down you couldn’t keep running away. That’s why when you recovered you asked your father to teach you. To help prepare you so you never undergo another traumatic experience like that again. Even if everyone was against you becoming a demon weapon, you knew that you couldn’t stay stagnated and live the rest of your days in constant fear till you break from the madness. And the one who gave you the courage to move forward was Spirit Albarn. The very same man who saved you and also a close pal of your father. In essence, he was your godfather, and the coolest death scythe you know.

Soon enough, your alarm clock starts to go off as it breaks you out of your half-awake trance. Today was the first day at the academy as you were living by yourself. It was easier this way as you didn't have to fear shooting people in your sleep. Although, today it seems that your safety was still on, so you were making progress.

"Ugh...I hate mornings..." You muttered, feeling the urge to turn your arm into a gun and just shoot your alarm clock...again.

I'd rather not have multiple POVs personally. I'm cool with choosing the backstory of other characters but they're not as interesting to play when the attention is split between multiple main characters. Let's just stick to Francis.

I think it's okay if we have multiple POV's only now at the start for backstories and before the characters meet each other, but i wouldn't mind if we switch perspective for special ocaisions.
but for now after we are done with Cadence's morning and Miguels part we can go back to our main boy Francis

Idk, I think that the rotating cast would be more interesting and keep things fresh, personally.

maybe what if we sometimes get to choose to switch POV, but only when Lord Death gives us that option
that could work

I will offer that chance to switch POV when the time is right, but normally I only suggest going for it for important factors or major character to keep it from being dated. But I will also allow one to suggest switch even if it's not on the menu within reason.

Do note I'll only keep it to our three muskateer of weapons.

Taking a moment to snap out of memory lane, your eyes shift back to the toilet. Considering you just vomited blood, it would be expected that you’d avoid it and just flush it. And yet, you couldn’t help yourself but give into curiosity to see if it was real blood or not. Slowly leaning over, your eyes dart down to the toilet bowl to see what’s inside. A swirling pool of blackness that engulfed the entire bowl’s water. Yep, that was blood you were currently seeing, pitch-black as darkness itself. It’s something that has been bothering you for a while.

In the rare times where you were hurt and bleed after that experience, the blood you shed was a normal red color if not a little darker than regular. Whenever you have a nightmare and vomited profoundly in the toilet, you notice that the blood was black. Why was it always after that dream? It would help if you could fully remember it and unlock the secrets buried deep in your psyche. As you continue to stare at it closely, something began to change about the blood. It was emitting a strong presence, an almost eerie one.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that it was like staring at the abyss itself. This was most troubling as You weren’t sure precisely the color anymore. The more you inspect it the less you think it was black and the more it was a rainbow. But that could be due to staring at it, causing some sort of visual hallucination. Green eyes start to dull, becoming empty as you slowly lose a grip from staring at the blood. As you gaze deeply at the abyss, it soon starts to sprout eyes and wild Chesire cat-like grin.

Instinctively you reel back, almost shrieking from the sounds of the alarm clock. Sure enough, it was enough to pull you back into reality instead of wonderland. Once you get a hold of yourself, you went back to look at the blood to see that it was red. Was it just your imagination or was there something more to it than that. In any case, you left the bathroom to reach for your phone on the table. It was a special smartphone given to you by Spirit. It was much more durable and sturdy while being just as effective as the latest phones.

Immediately you dial on the phone and soon enough you start to hear a phone ring. A few rings here and there before finally you were met with an automatic message. Unsurprising that morning to you must be night time to your father. Even so, some part of you wanted your father to pick up the phone and call. Regardless, you decide to leave a message on the answer machine and hope for him to call you soon. Gathering your wits together, you perk yourself up back to having a cheerful tone.
>>
>>3937434

“Hi dad, it’s me Cadence. I’m calling to wish you a good morning...and to talk about that dream again. I know you and Spirit told me that I shouldn’t worry about it. That whatever secret out there will be discovered with time once I adjust it and move past my trauma. Heck, the reason you sent me to the main branch was so he could keep an eye on me and be under death’s protection. I’m really happy since this is the very best school in the world. It’s just…” You paused, the cheerfulness in your tone starting to crack.

Oh Cadence, my poor girl got the short end of the stick .
I'm really liking this so far, it's a nice setup introducing us to the world with the expectations for the hero and then following it up with the other side of the story, the experience of the victims.
See, this is why I like the multiple PoV, in other quests the development of side character tends to be limited to some exposition dump and a pep talk from the MC. This way is more personal.

Well, I'm glad you like that. With Multiple PoV, I want to strive to give everyone their own backstory and motives while keeping them relatable and hopefully endearing as characters.

I got a challenge with me in keeping the overall narrative in check, but I like to think for a story like this it's the best course of action. I want to develop the side characters organically but I'm not going to giving you their perspectives or suffocating you with exposition dumps. You got enough to work with the trio and their future meisters.

Another note, if Francis can be considered the "Traditional Hero" and Miguel as the "Anti-hero/Reformed Villain" then I'd have to agree that Cadence represents the tragedy of the victim in terms of their heroic origin.

But this just means she hit rock first and have an easier time dealing with adversities, unlike our other protagonists who will have their own baggage to deal with in the future.

There was a brief pause in your tone. Deep down you wanted to tell your father just how scared you are. Being thousands of miles from your home was quite a nerve-wrecking ordeal. Course it pales in comparison to your actual trauma which makes it all the worse. Most of all, you honestly missed being around your parents and younger siblings. Sure being all by yourself has its advantages, especially not worrying about accidentally shooting anyone with bullets in your sleep. Yet it also highlighted just how lonely this apartment house was for you.

“..It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. I’m going to study hard and rise through the ranks so I can make you guys proud.” You smiled, resuming your cheerful demeanor to avoid suspicion. “Anyway, when you get a chance, reply to me so we can continue this conversation. I love you, dad.”

Be brave Cadance. This is your first day at the DWMA. You can’t let a little dream through you out of whack and revert you to a nervous wreck. Otherwise ...getting your papa to agree to let you become a demon weapon will meaningless. Reflecting upon your inner thoughts, you quickly slap yourself on both cheeks. Snapping any form of hesitation from your body before marching forward to tackle the day. The die has been set and there’s no turning back now.

Quickly you went through your morning activities be them taking a morning bath, doing some light exercises, eating breakfast, etc. Before you know it, you were already standing in the mirror looking at your chosen attire. Seeing yourself all dressed up gave you a bit more courage as you put on your fur hat. Afterward, you reached for your stuff while heading out towards the front door. Upon reaching the door you open it slowly after undoing the locks. Giving you time to take one final look at your comfy multi-room apartment studio.

“I’m off.” You said openly to no one, only as a means to give you a small reminder of home as you close the door and lock it.

Walking down at a moderate pace it’ll take you no time at all to reach the academy. You been in death city for about two weeks before today with Uncle Spirit. So while you didn’t know everything that this town has to offer, you did know where the essentials are. And for you, that was enough to get by for now. Speaking of getting by, your attention went from the scenery to the giant fleet of stairs that led to DWMA. Just like in the handbook it was quite a sight to behold. Although...you’d honestly wish it wasn’t as vast as the handbook mentioned.

Traveling from the main stairway to the side was less of a chore than actually taking the stairs. That said, it wasn’t exactly a Sunday stroll either given how big the academy is. Taking this path certainly took some time, especially when factoring the chance the elevator could be at only one side of the building. The left or the right. Sure, there was time to check them both but that would just waste as much time and energy as actually taking the stairs. Thus defeating the whole point of looking for the elevator in the first place.

Thinking real close on which path was right, it ultimately came down to trusting your intuition. So with that, you moved towards the left side of the building. At the same time, you pace yourself appropriately for the off chance that you were wrong. As you circle around the building to its left side you would see a mysterious figure standing in the distance. It was a very tall dark-skinned male, with long dreads wearing a green tank top and matching jeans. Given his robust build, you can only assume that he was apart of the faculty.

“Oh hello there. Don’t be shy now. My name is Sid Barrett and I am the homeroom teacher for DWMA.” He said, offering his hand to shake yours. His friendly demeanor was relaxing and reassuring despite his tough look.

“My name is Kadentsiya Novikov but you can call me Cadence.” You smiled, shaking his hand in return. “I’m looking for the elevator so I can make it to the top and register on time.”

“Very good, a punctual student. I like that. Unfortunately, I have to be the bearer of bad news.” Sid said.

“Is something wrong? Does this mean there’s not any elevators here?” You asked, showing slight concern by the possible implications.

“Oh no there is an elevator. You’re on the right path to take it, even though there’s one on each side. Just, this elevator is usually reserved for Two Stars and above outside of special circumstances like emergencies. The stars are meant to be climbed straightforward to help reinforce our school mantra. A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body. There’s no shortcuts towards the right path.” Sid explains, showing a more stern look while retaining a friendly atmosphere.

“I see, but I can’t help but feel rather envious of the higher stars. They don’t even need to do beginner’s training like this and can just freely take the elevator.” You muttered, pouting a bit that you essentially wasted your time here.

“I see, but I can’t help but feel rather envious of the higher stars. They don’t even need to do beginner’s training like this and can just freely take the elevator.” You muttered, pouting a bit that you essentially wasted your time here.

“You’re mistaken miss Candace. It’s not that they need such privilege, but rather if they took the stairs like the rest of the students. They’ll end up discouraging the student body by clearing the stairs in less than ten minutes. Three-Stars especially can do it in less than three with the very best doing it in thirty seconds. “ Hearing Sid say that momentarily made your heart and mind stop. Imagining such people capable of doing superhuman feats like they were nothing put into perspective just how grandeur this school is.

“But don’t fret, you won’t be leaving empty-handed.” Sid smiles, reassuring you out of your state of gloom with a thumbs up.

“You mean the explanation of the elevator system and knowledge of its location alongside the purpose of this daily chore.” You said, putting your finger on your chin as you reflect.

“Well yes and no. I've indeed given you some sound wisdom in understanding the hierarchy in this school and the importance of training that this morning climb provides. I’m not so heartless to make a young girl trek back to the starting point and climb up the stairs.” Sid explains, easily reinvigorating your morality like a good Sargent. You didn’t speak but your facial expression was in awe at the idea of being given some sort of compensation or this covering a special circumstance to ride the elevator.

“Instead, I’m going to toss you to the top of the stairs. Think of it as a crash course on life and practice for aerial studies and landing procedure “ Sid said, easily shattering your sense of disbelief as that fantasy of the elevator was replaced with a cruel look at reality.

“Eh?” You blinked, keeping your smile as your mind tries to understand this sudden train of thought. Leaving Sid the chance to pick you up by your waist as he begins to carry you in the fireman style. “W-Wait! You’re joking, right? Please tell me you’re joking.”

“Sorry, but I’m not very good with jokes. Now try not to die.” Sid replied, reaching the right angle and distance. Quickly he readies himself for the big windup as you find yourself unable to wiggle out of his tight grip in time. With a single step, Sid throws you with tremendous force towards the top of the stairs, almost like a speeding bullet.

“Welcome to your first day at the Academy,” Sid shouts, keeping his smile despite hearing your screams in the distance.

Injured people and cripples are apart of the special circumstances on who can ride the elevator regardless of status. It's a pretty sizable elevator that goes up to the academy and bellow into the underground.

Just like that, you find yourself currently traveling at crazy speeds towards the top of the academy. Lucky for you that underneath your brown skirt was a pair of black spats shorts. So at the very least, you didn’t have to worry about flashing anyone as you soar high into the skill. Still, this was not a situation you’d welcome. If this what was going to happen for looking to ride the elevator, it would’ve been better to just take the stairs like everyone else. One thing was for sure, the faculty for this school was missing a few screws.

Keeping one hand gripping tightly against your wool winter hat, you start wailing your remaining arm in conjunction with screaming. At this stage, you were past the point about caring about your public image. If it means having someone save you, you were willing to be made fun of for this blunder. Unfortunately at the speed that you were traveling, it was rather hard for anyone to listen to your screaming. Even if they did hear you, you were moving too fast for them to notice in time to react.

As you continue to scream and flail wildly in the air, you seem to catch the attention of a purple-haired boy, no older than yourself. He was wearing a school uniform but there was something wild about his rugged appearance. Didn’t help that he was wearing a scowl on his face. Briefly, the mysterious boy glances at you, locking eyes with one another. Before you could cry out to him to help you, he suddenly turned his head. Immediately giving you the cold shoulder as he pretends that he didn’t see you.

Honestly, you wanted to yell at the mysterious bystander for ignoring a maiden in trouble. But all that came out was an incoherent sea of words. In between your yelling fit, someone was catching up to you at high speeds. You couldn’t help but be impressed as you were coming close to reaching the top. It was a strawberry blond male in a rather lavish school uniform. He appeared to you like a knight in shining armor with his body gliding majestically through the air. It almost brought you to tears, at last someone was coming to your rescue.

“Laisse-moi te dire quelque chose d'étrange brune volante. Aussi charmant que vous basedez, j’ai peur de ne pas vous laisser monter plus haut que moi. Tellement ébloui par mon éclat alors que je monte devant et que je parviens au sommet. Essayez de ne pas tomber pour moi trop fort. " The mysterious gentleman spoke, taking the time to smile at you with a wink before dashing ahead.

“Eh?” You blinked in disbelief, completely caught off guard by his actions. Not only did he not rescue you but he ended up going ahead. Leaving you in a dumbfounded state just moments before crashing hard against the pavement.

And that’s what you last remembered as your mind finally finished processing your morning. Your body twitched erratically now registering the newfound pain from this rough landing. To make matters worse you could hear footsteps as someone was coming to you. From your current angle, you saw it was the same person who refuses to come to your rescue. Thinking it was more a race than anything. Upset didn’t even begin to describe the feelings boiling inside as he comes to check up on you.

At the same time, a certain individual was approaching the gentleman with the intent to harm.

Although you were festered with aggressive rage, strangely enough, you remained composed. At least as much composed as someone sticking out of the ground like a turnip. If any sense of bloodlust leaks out, it’ll surely alert the mysterious gentleman and make him more wary. To have your chance, you proceed to temper those feelings and continue playing possum. That level of patience was rewarded upon his arrival.

“Let me help you up.” The mysterious gentleman spoke, strangely sounding English rather than the French language he uttered previously. Now understanding him only irritated you more since it confirmed that he can, in fact, speak the native language in these lands.

Quietly you lie there pretending to be motionless as the gentleman starts yanking you out from the ground. There was nothing for him to see underneath but on the off chance he did, that was another reason to retaliate. With only just a few tugs your body starts to rise out from the rubble before touching the surface. Once you were out of the giant hole made by your crush you were then helped up by hand by the gentleman. Again, this was perfect as you shift to standing on your feet while remaining close to the gentleman.

“Oh? Have you fallen for my dazzling charms and want to be within my sweet embrace. How adorable. As a noble knight, I can’t turn down the request of a fair maiden.” He spoke, smiling to himself while closing his eyes to make himself dazzle brighter. He was completely unaware that you started to set up a rather tight vice grip. Followed by a loud stomp, twisting your body at the right angle as you improvised Sid’s throwing method.

“Go to hell!” You screamed, chucking the mysterious gentleman with as much force as you can muster. Despite your small appearance, it was far stronger than it gave off. In addition, training with your father nettled you with countless martial arts knowledge, including that of Sambo and by proxy Judo. Like it or not, the mysterious gentleman was caught off guard long enough to be sent flying down the stairs like a speeding bullet.

Elsewhere not too far from Cadance’s location was another individual. The same grumpy purple-haired punk who just recently has the fortune of falling off the stairs and back to the bottom was currently racing his way back up the stairs in a violent rage. That boy is named Miguel Ramirez, thirteen years old and reluctant student of the DWMA or otherwise called Shibusen. Just yesterday you were living off the streets pickpocketing and doing whatever you can to survive on your own.

Abandoned at an early age due to a cruel fate dealt to your mother, you were forced to survive on the street with several other kids. Being an orphan was hard enough on its own even with the rundown orphanage. You, however, had it even harder as a werebeast. Because humanity made up for a large majority of the population on Earth, they are seen as the dominant force on the planet. But even that was a misconception considering how fragmented humans truly are. Not all humans are born equal. While it was usual for many to be born normal, countless people are born abnormal.

Some were born as having innate magical talent labeled as magic born, becoming sorcerers or witches. Some were born as demon weapons, living creatures capable of transforming into tools for various purposes. And some were born as supernatural creatures similar to that of monsters that you’ll find in folklores. There were many different types of humans out there and many fall under different classifications compared to the “normals”. Which unfortunately leads to things like discrimination, fear, abused, rejected, isolation, and many other forms of race wars. Though the world tries to unite together, some still choose to act out such foolishness.

Although many of these can be labeled as signs of madness or wicked intentions, at the end of the day it’s still left to the strength of one’s heart to decide. Lord Death can only do so much. As a werebeast, a living creature that can shift between a human and beast, you have seen countless times just how strong and weak a person’s heart can be. Yes, for a long time you saw the very worst this world has to offer. Every day was a struggle not only for you to survive but to keep yourself from falling into depravity and madness.

Of course, there were days where you came close to giving up. To become the ferocious beast that the world treated you as. Just like that cold, rainy day in the alleyway. As you remembered it you were being hunted by countless thugs and gangsters. Some of their men were disappearing without a trace, leaving you the sole suspect. But that was just an excuse. Deep down you knew that they resented you. A lone wolf operating on his own without the need to pay for protection was a blight to the city. More specifically, the underground black market.

As if you didn’t need any more reason to curse this wretched life and the world that gave birth to it by taking your family away from you.

“Tsc.” You uttered, looking through the sides of the alleyway. The feeling of anxiety was creeping fast with each passing second. Just your luck that you’ve been dragged into this mess because of someone else.

Irritating as it was, there was no time to give in to resentment. Complaining about things like the world was never your style. It wasn’t like things will change otherwise. You were someone who focused on the present and not let anything distract you from your main goal. Survival at all costs. It was only good fortune that the weather obscured vision and helped mask your scent. More importantly, you knew this city like the back of your hand.

Like the clever thieves in the savannah, your primal instincts guide you towards stealing victory from the jaws of defeat. Today will be no different. Thus, you start to make your move. Rather than run away or hide like a coward, you chose to fight. But that didn’t mean you were going to fight fair or recklessly. The smart decision was always your preferred method. And the smartest choice was to follow a certain strategy, the hit and run tactics.

Using the urban portion of the brilliant streets of Madrid and the sewage system you were able to successfully evade direct conflict. Giving you the chance to strike down each one of the mafia men one by one like flies. No matter how armed they are or how many numbers, it pales in comparison to the savagery of the werebeast. To make matters worse, you were a demon weapon so those normal bullets typically bounce off you.

But that didn’t make you any less careful, no if anything you were far too perceptive to overestimate your abilities. So, you settle for taking out as many of them as possible. Be it through snatching them through the sewers, ambushing them on the streets, attacking from the rooftops, or underhanded tactics. You aimed to take them out quickly and thoroughly. As bad as these people are, you weren’t exactly keen on killing these lowlives...for now.

I'm fine with that. When writing the vote I thought to make it "girlfriend" instead of best friend, so there would be a more emotive separation when Miguel goes to Shibusen (Or if she dies, that would work too). With a swift series of blows, another set of mafia men found themselves soundly defeated. In the time that you began your counterattack, your body count of defeated mafia men was that of thirty-five. Not too shabby for someone who fights with their brains rather than brute force. As you continue with the Hit and Run tactics, the mafia goons are starting to wise up. Originally scattered throughout the city they were starting to group up and formulate a plan. Of course, this was going all according to your expectations.

Group or not it only made them easier targets now that they’re depending on their numbers. Still, it would be problematic for you if you were to directly fight out in the open. Demon Weapon or not, some things’ll bypass your strong hide. Although if you were to transform into your full werebeast state it’ll be notoriously hard to gun you down with their regular firearms. On the other hand, your werebeast state wasn’t as nimble as say your hyena form. It was far too bulky and aggressive to sneak around and take out the goons without losing the element of surprise.

Taking that into account you swiftly changed to that of a small Hyena. While it didn’t pack nearly as a punch compare to your hybrid form, its superior speed, and agility made for the backbone of your hit-and-run tactics. That said, through the use of your tail, your demon weapon’s power manifests itself as your main form of attack. The large reach of your halberd combined with its great force contributes to your swift attacks. But that wasn’t all you had up your arsenal.

For the past several hours you underwent a long stand out battle between the Spanish Mafia. Utilizing your cunning mind and multi-utility Halberd, you managed to counter every form of strategy these lowlives could come up with. They were mere foot soldiers who’re completely unequipped to handle the current threat. There was something about it that seems fishy to you. As you ponder about it, a series of bullets suddenly strike you from 8’oclock. Your eyes dart towards that direction to notice a shadowy figure.

It was a sniper obscured by the rails and chimney, serving as blockade with its tiny opening being perfect for a sniper. The bullets drilled into your body managed to break through your skin but luckily they weren’t deep enough to leave any serious wounds. Even so, the sudden shot was enough to force you to turn back to your human form. Quickly you turned your body to adjust yourself, landing on your two feet from the rooftop you were running from.

As you got your footing, you soon found yourself being surrounded by countless mafia goons pointing their guns. It seems that your tactics have reached their end. You prepared yourself for a confrontation when suddenly flashing lights start to obscure your sight. Instinctively, you pulled your arm to cover your eyes, relying on your other senses. But strangely enough, the mafia men chose to remain stationary due to a certain hand signal coming from the back.

“Well done. It’s exactly what I expect from you Miguel boy. Taking down my men like they were mere stepping stones.” Stepping out from a large limousine was the head honcho himself. Don Charlin. He was a rugged middle-aged man standing at six feet and four inches, tailored in a rather professional black tuxedo. You didn’t need animal instincts or clairvoyance to tell that he was a dangerous man. His customized double-barrel Dickson Falcon 3200 Shotgun could attest to that. “Guess my men will now have second thoughts calling you the beta male of mammals.

“What’s this about Don Charlin? You know for a fact that I didn’t kill your men. So why hunt me down!” You growled, taking a ready stance just in case things were to get dicey.

Don Charlin laughed as a response before pulling out a fancy cigar. “Course I know kid, but you can’t be too careful. I wanted to reaffirm your skills first hand. Not only you’re a werebeast but a demon weapon as well. With that kind of ferocious power, you’d be a one-man army. However, I can tell from your little show that you’re still green. “

“You’re soft. Not once did you try killing these men? Why is that?” Don Charlin asked. “A street rat who survived tooth and nail will grow to be a dangerous beast if left unattended. But the true measure of that is whether or not they truly got what it takes to do anything to survive. Even committing one of the unspoken taboo...murder.” Don Charlin smiled, making a rather eerie face as he turns to you.

“The look in your eyes tell me...you’re not quite there yet. There’s still some burning light in those cold, dead eyes of yours. Do you think of yourself as good? No different from the regular people living in this city?” Don Charlin asked, moving the cigar to his face as he begins to smoke it.

“Nobody in this world is good. Innocent sure but I like to look at them as naive and ignorant to how the world truly works. The concept of good and evil is negotiable at best. A concept decided entirely by the highest power out there. Things like morality and one’s conscience means nothing. In the end, we’re motivated by our desires, our inner instinct that we keep suppressed to maintain the social order. What if I told you that as a species, only us sentient beings follow that? “Don Charlin explained, shifting his head downward in between smoking. For now, you decided to listen to his speech while formulating an idea on how to get out of this mess.

His eyes start to notice a couple of bugs fighting over the corpse of a bigger bug, a giant wasp. The red ants ultimately end up being victorious as they dominate over the black ones. Going as far as to use their corpses to fuel their empire.“Animals and insects for instance only believe in survival of the fittest. They don’t care about such rubbish like religion or the morality of one’s actions. They’re hotwired to act on their survival institution and do whatever their hearts decide without remorse or guilt. As an honest crime boss, it disgusts me seeing people try to act like they’re above it. That they don’t secretly wish to be free and act on our heart’s desire without fear of being judged. “

After taking another deep puff from his cigar, Don Charlin starts to make a wide grin. Shifting his eyes to the sky he starts to raise his arms dramatically. “This world is a shamble. A messed up sea of contradictions and white lies. Even the shinigami god himself doesn’t take it upon himself to get involved in the matters of mortal men. Only when they stray down the path and show signs of being a Kishin does Death intervenes. But that’s only when the forbidden taboos are broken. So long as you don’t do that then Death don’t give a damn what happens here. Talk about a pragmatic guy! Only focusing on the greater threats to his order. He might as well admit that he doesn't love humans. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gave up humanity long ago. Would explain quite a lot for this messed up world.” Don Charlin laughs.

Laughing madly for a good while, his crazed face slowly revert to his cool, hard-boiled smile. “That’s why I’m sure you’re able to understand what I’m saying. There are many people in this world. Mavericks who choose to reject Death’s Order and return to acting solely on our self-interest. After all, as a werebeast, you must be far more in tune with your primal instincts and darkest desires than anyone else. You who lie, cheat, steal, practically anything to ensure your survival. You’re a primal beast that has sentiency. A kind of man that I like.”

>>3940785

Now that Don Charlin finished his rant, it was all on you to answer him with your choice. Taking a moment to think your answer closely, you briefly close your eyes. On the chance of a sneak attack, your other senses would alert you in a heartbeat. Not that Don Charlin needs such an underhanding trick for a mere “boy”. That would be more of an insult to his own pride. And he was still showing signs of liking you. If motivated by self-survival, the answer would come to you easily. But you were more than what Don Charlin painted you as.

“No, just like you said. The world is filled with garbage and I’m no better, just like you. Although I’m trash, I managed to find things to value most. Things that take higher priority than my own selfish reasons. But do you know what truly differs between us?”

“Heh, tell me exactly what makes you different than me. And none of that superficial philosophy crap.” Don Charlin said, going back to smoking his cigar while waiting for the defining answer.

“Although you’re human, you act no different than a beast. A truly bloodthirsty animal who does whatever they want just because they can. You go far beyond just acting on instincts and survival. A true monster. I may be a werebeast, but I’m not a bloodthirsty animal. That’s why I haven’t killed those that try to kill me, no matter how much I may have wished I done so.” You said, proudly showing defiance at the countless opportunities given my life to be the absolute worst. Part of that unrelenting strength came from both your caretaker and most of all...that special someone. It was through them that you managed to have hope despite it all.

A small sigh escaped out of the don’s mouth, dropping his usual smile for a more serious look on his face. “If only you had some brains and taken my offer when you had the chance. Could’ve easily been a fine member of the Garduña, specifically my branch. The Billards, led by the Los Charlínes family. With myself, Manny Charlin at the top of the family.“

A small sigh escaped out of the don’s mouth, dropping his usual smile for a more serious look on his face. “If only you had some brains and taken my offer when you had the chance. “Of course you’d be an underling but I saw promise in you. In time with the proper molding, you could be my personal bodyguard and right-hand man.”After taking one final deep smoke, Don Charlin suddenly breaks the cigar into pieces with just his sharp teeth. “But you had to gone and grow a conscience after all.”

Right there you felt tremendous pressure exerting from the Don. No longer was he playing nice and boasting a humorous but respectable presence. Your instincts were on high alert, telling you that this, in fact, was the real deal. Another note, there was something strange in the air. A familiar kind of scent that you have sworn you recognize before. But it was hard being precise when dealing with such killer intent.

“What exactly did you have to gain from this little rebellion Miguel boy? You know as far as I do that its a stupid idea to want to pick a fight with me. You might know this capital city like the back of your hand, but all of Spain is my domain. Hell, my influence extends through multiple places including Italy and Portugal. You could say all of Europe has my influence one way or another. So if you bailed out and ran with your tail in between your legs, sooner or later I’ll find you. And...well you’re old enough that I don’t need to spell out what’ll happen.” Don Charlin coldly remarks.

>Don’t dignify him with a response. Attack, and try to disarm him.
>Distract him by speaking from your heart before commencing with your escape

I did say this was the darkest out of the trio protagonist

Sadly you knew that Don Charlin wasn’t bluffing with his hypothesis. No, the chance for bluffs and deception has long since passed. Right in front of you was a man who has done many morally questionable if not pitch black things. All for the purpose of his own self-interest and nothing more. If you want to survive this night, you needed to play it by ear and be smart. That said, the odds were certainly against you just with numbers alone. But that’s wasn’t what got you feeling anxious.

Be it your intuition or suppressed primal instincts, danger was looming in the air. Slowly your eyes start darting around, looking for what the cause. To nobody’s surprise, the entire parking lot and background buildings hosts several additional gunners. While not the same as that sniper who took you down a peg, they weren’t people to underestimate. Yet it wasn’t them that was triggering your danger sense.

No, it was the smell that was throwing off your A-game Despite the raining previously serving as a good masking tool, it didn’t get in the way of your heightened sense, especially your sense of smell. The smell you were picking up was a familiar scent. Nothing dangerous like gasoline or gunpowder for some sort of trap. This scent was peaceful and warm, much like that of Red carnation. But there shouldn’t be any of the flowers roaming around here..could they?

“So is this the part where you have a shootout with me? Cause let me tell you, I’m not exactly fond of going out like Scarface.” You remarked, trying to keep your attention on pinpointing the scent while stalling.

“As much as throwing down with you an interesting proposal, I’m not foolish to pick a fight with the likes of you.” Don Charlin smiled, pulling out another cigar, strangely igniting the cigar with the use of his left hand. Your eyes paid close attention to him while looking for the source of the scent.

“You’re a werebeast. Specifically, a hyena breed, normally mistaken for dogs they’re actually closer to cats if anything. However, that wasn’t always the case. There used to be hyenas that are closer to dogs than cats. And this is just a hypothesis but I believe you’re actually one of those rare breeds, forgotten by the course of time.” Don Charlin explained.

“What exactly does the type of breed I have to do with this?” You asked, remaining composed despite feeling more agitated as time passes on.

>con
>>
>>3941531

“Because if you’re a dog breed, then that makes you closer to the Immortal Clan. A pack of werewolves that were renowned for their immortality. No matter what you do to them, they’ll always survive the experience before regenerating. The level of their regeneration is instantaneous, practically making the inflicted act non-existant.” Hearing Don Charlin explain the reason slowly started clicking in as to why the Don for the longest time had a special interest in you. A mere folktale told for long ago when your mother was still alive. But you didn’t really believe the tale as it was true then your mother would still be alive. Before you had the chance to reflect on it further, your attention went back to the smell.

“Again this is merely a hypothesis, but if you do so happen to be related to the immortal clan. That kind of power is within your realm of possibility. Even if only a fraction, it’ll far exceed the standard regenerative powers that a werebeast generally posses. I’m only a betting man when I know the odds for victory are in my favor. But with you, I feel like I’m going to be hitting the mark. Therefore...I need some insurance.”Before Don Charlin finished your eyes start to widen at exactly who could be carrying the scent of Red Carnation. Upon realizing who, you begin to slit your pupils and start to growl immensely at the mafia boss.
“What did you bastards do to her?!” You screamed, reaching the point of busting a blood vessel or two.

“Now now don’t bark at me Miguel boy. If anyone is at fault of this its clearly you for thinking you could take down my men and scare the rest of them to no longer mess with you. While you were picking them off one by one, I paid a visit to that orphanage in the church’s grounds. Originally I was looking for Sister Maria, your foster mother or one of your close friends. But in my search, I ended up finding your girlfriend, Carmen Garcia instead. And I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.” Don Charlin remarks, alerting his men to bring out the goods. Immidentantly you saw someone else coming out of the white limousine. It was a young girl with very long purple hair, smooth creamy skin and an innocent radiance in her violet eyes. Dressed in a nun gown with a silver cross necklace, it, unfortunately, confirms your suspicions.

“Miki!” Carmen cried, arms currently tied behind her back while being pushed right next to the Don.

“Let her go right now!” You cried.

“Tsk tsk, you got to learn some manners Miguel boy. You’re not in the position to make demands.” Don Charlin said.

Almost done writing this up, but you can start making plans if you want.
>>
>>3941680

Seeing your girl Caren behind handled like a helpless daniel in distress really tested the limits of your rational mindset. Each second of this was pure torture for you. Your animal side wanted to lung forward and go berserk against Don Charlin. Going in guns blazing and bring the entire parking lot down through your rampage. But as much as it desired it, you weren’t going to let it happen. You were a man of intelligence and rationality. Rather than relying on your primal might dominating through brute force, you generally lean towards being smart.

As much as you wanted to lash out and beat the ever-loving shit out of everyone involved in Carmen’s abduction, it wasn’t the time for that. You needed to be strong, most of all level headed. Getting angry is the last thing that both of you wanted. Instead, you dart your eyes to look for any possible chance to get out of this situation. Even if you had to take the fall, you weren’t going to let Carmen suffer for your mistake.

Out of desperation, you were to start formulating a series of plans. Even if these were trained killers and veteran mafia men, you still have a few aces down the hole. Not to mention there was the fact that Don Charlin was really interested in this folktale. Perhaps you can use it in some way to throw off his game and rescue Carmen. Yeah, I can do this.

“Can’t we talk about this? You know that I didn’t kill your men and you don’t need to bring Carmen into this. If we just sit down and converse, we can come to a better solution than this. I’ll even get down on all fours and beg.” You suggested, putting up a really good poker face while holding your hands up with palms open as a sign of submission.

As you continue to finetune your plans, the sounds of gun clocking start to snap you back to reality. Out of instinct, you kneel down to dodge whatever bullet that was coming your way. It is only during midway did you come to understand where the gun was heading towards. One of Don Charlin’s men proceed to point the gun at Carmen’s abdomen. It was aimed to be a non-lethal shot but a good warning shot nonetheless.

>con
>>
>>3941694

“Stop! Don’t hurt her.” You screamed, showing a look of desperation and terror at the gun coming close to firing. This wasn’t a bluff. They’re really planning on shooting her. As a result, you immediately dropped to the floor and begged. Lucky for you this act of apologizing was enough for Don Charlin to call off shooting Carmen, much to her relief. But she was still shaken up by the looming threat.

“Sorry about that Miguel boy. We just wanted to see if you were still with us. You might call me paranoid, but I have a sinking feeling you still haven’t realized the true gravity of the situation.” Don Charlin explained, taking one big smoke as he makes his way towards you. You, on the other hand, continued to bow, not moving from your spot out of wanting to keep Carmen safe. In your mind, you managed to come with at least three possible ways of getting out this alive with Carmen. But you needed to be sure not to throw suspicion.

“Now I know what you’re thinking. Why do all of that when I being compliant? The answer is quite simple. It’s that look in your eye Miguel boy. Even now when pushed back into a corner, they’re still shining brilliantly. Like you got a shred of hope to cling to.No matter how good your poker face is, it’s those eyes of yours that give you away. They don’t look like the eyes of a man who gave up all hope or commit to becoming a bloodthirsty animal.” Don Charlin said, kneeling down to place what appears to be a WWII Spanish Star Model B 9mm Pistol.

“I’ll give you two options Miguel. Either join my family and pledge allegiance to the Garduña or stand up like a man and die without resisting us. “ Don Charlin smiled, gesturing you to lift up your head to speak with him. Before you could consider the possibility of accepting, Don Charlin waggles his right index finger.

“Now, now don’t rush Miguel boy. I didn’t finish. It’s easy for anyone to join someone if they’re holding a hostage. I need to see proof of your conviction. That’s why I’m giving you this gun.” With that, Don Charlin turns his back to you and begin walking back to his car. His men still stationary in case you try to attack him. As you look down at the gun, the true meaning of “alliance” soon makes itself apparent as you look at Carmen before going back to the gun.

“....Bastard.” You uttered, reaching the limits of your tolerance.

>>3941712

“See kid that’s why I like you. You’re perceptive. That’s right, I want you to prove your loyalty by killing your girlfriend right here and now. A quick bullet to one of her vitals, preferably either the heart or brain or you can be a sadist and turn her into swiz cheese. Either way, she has to die. It’s the only way to prove that you’re a loyal dog or a cowardly mutt.“ Don Charlin said, turning back to smile at you before setting his custom shotgun to the ground.

“You got a minute to decide. I won’t accept any kind of stalling or trickery. Do that and we’ll kill not only your girlfriend but everyone you ever associated yourself with. That includes the orphanage and the church.” Don Charlin spoke, making his threat rather apparent while returning to his cold, hard-boil glare while keeping his other hand against his black hat. “I told you, Miguel, you shouldn’t have picked a fight with me.”

“Or perhaps, you’ll let your girl decide for you?” Upon saying that, one of Don Charlin’s men pushed Carmen towards the gun. The clumsy nun swiftly falls on the ground, now near the gun as she slowly picks herself up.

What a bastard
damn don't really know what to choose, but i'd say that letting Carmen choose is bad because if someone dies it should because of Don charlon or Miguels fault, not hers

>>Pretend to shoot at Carmen but shoot at Don Charmin instead while pushing Carmen out the way
This is a huge stretch but... could we do soul resonance with her? Even if she's no Meister, having our wavelenght might make her able to take a bullet.
>>
>>3941736

You have a strong enough bond to do a bond resonance.
>>
>>3941740
The question is if Carmen can handle herself while using us as a weapon.

Can we help her while in resonance weapon mode?
>>
>>3941748

Those are possible attempts to do.
>>
>>3941724
Supporting >>3941736
It's worth a try.
>>
>>3941740
Fuck, this system is really vague. Do we have to be in weapon form to do resonance? Do we have to be touching each other?
IF SO, we could shoot her ourselves, have her play possum and kill everyone on sight because otherwise they won't leave us alone.
>>
>>3941754
>IF SO
I mean if the answer is no, I can speech I swear
>>
>>3941754

No, but it's far less stable/risky to do. And yes you need to be touching each other with your level of resonance.

Bond Resonance is essentially Soul Resonance but you don't need to be a meister to do with a weapon or vice versa. It's not as strong as OG Soul Resonance as a result.
>>
>>3941758

Also, Bond Resonance is normally reserved in canon to be a family thing but I'm pulling some strings to allow for more flexibility as weapon protagonists.
>>
>>3941749
Bit of a silly question, but how good is Carmen at fighting?
>>
>>3941767
well she is a pre-teen nun so...
>>
>>3941767

Good enough that she avoid getting raped in the streets. So basic self-defense.
>>
At this point the best option that I'm seeing is trying to gun down Don and then Bond Resonance with Carmen to guard her imo
>>
>>3941777
What if the gun's got a blank in it?
Think about it. A gambit to test the mettle and potential loyalty of the guy.
>>
Ok, how about we gather our thoughts and try to reach a consensus
>bond resonance and guard her
>bond resonance and wield us
>bond resonance and shoot her
>shoot ourselves and hope for immortality/blank
All of them are super risky, the last one in particular doesn't guarantee Carmen's survival in the best case scenario.
I'm personally leaning torwards having her wield us, since it's established in Maka's case that Soul was doing a lot of the work for her.
>>
>>3941789
Thing is if we decide to guard her via bond then they might just leave and hunt for our other loved ones or just to try to kill us right here and now.
>>
>>3941803
They won't be able to do that if we go for a more permanent, lethal solution. We've proven that we're not a mindless, bloodthirsty beast, but a man can only be pushed so far before he's forced to take drastic measures to protect the people he loves.
>>
>>3941813
Yep. Guess we're killing these people then. Seems like the best possible outcome for us. Do we Bond with her and get her to help(in other words: keep her closer to us to keep her safe) or do we just risk it?
>>
Right so while waiting for a consensus since this is an important moment, I've been thinking about how I want to handle challenges/ordeals and combat.

You start off with 3 Soul Points, but there will be chances to increase that cap over time. As well as obtain additional points based on your actions/how you perform under certain situations. When you switch perspectives, you always reset these points due to playing different protagonists. They reset themselves naturally after each day/when an important section of the story is over.

I'm thinking between a d6 to a d10 for dice with a 1 being the worst attempt/failure and a 6/10 is a higher rate of success/crit.

But there be a resource system that lets you bypass a bad roll/achieve success. How much it'll cost will differ between scenarios but 1 point spent will always allow for a reroll if you choose to use it for that method.

Thoughts and opinions are always welcomed.
>>
>bond resonance and shoot Don chairmen
>>
>>3942339
I’ve always enjoyed systems where statistics are represented by d10 dicepools. So my bias clearly indicates that d10 would be best!
>>
>>3942339
I think a d10 is fine, but I'm wary about Soul Points.
You can probably tweak it later if it doesn't work out.

>>3941813

Seem like based on the conversation, ya'll are going for Bond Resonance and Shooting the Don.

If so then I'll get started.
>>
>>3942584

If nothing else, this does fit Miguel's bad temper.

Well, this was certainly a fine mess that you find yourself in. Currently staring at a row of trained gunmen and professional mafia hitmen. All while the boss himself was watching from afar, though it was still manageable for you. On your side was Carmen who was slowly pulling herself up from the ground while staring frantically at the gun. The words of Don Charlin continued to playback in your head on repeat to let it sink in. It was either kill your girlfriend, the light in this endlessly long and dark tunnel. Or to stand up like a man and accept execution.

Now that wasn’t to say that they were your only options. Of course, taking any other option would not only be a great risk to the two of you, but also everyone close to you as well. But what choice did you have? There was no way that you can kill Carmen, much less have her stain her hands by choosing your fate. She was a pure, sweet noble girl. A true follower of the church and a productive member of the community. Like you, she was also an orphan, but she chose the path of righteousness and always put herself out to help others before herself. A true angel.

Someone like that cannot and absolutely should not die, especially for your mistakes. If anyone was to die it’ll be Don Charlin for doing this. Those who kill should always prepare themselves to be killed someday. That was the cut throat truth that was etched in your mind. Sure, you thought of ways to get out of this with Carmen still alive. But then what? Surely Don Charlin won’t stop due to a setback like this. Ending his life was the only way to ensure you and more importantly, all those that you care dear will survive.

But even as you’re pushed to your breaking point, your heart continues to focus on Carmen’s safety. Before anyone else could act, you swiftly grab the gun and hold it close. With your free hand, you reach to grab Carmen’s hand, keeping yourself close to her at all times. While on the surface it was a sweet, romantic last requiem, there’s more to it than that. What you were initiating was bond resonance, an offshoot of soul resonance when two people who have a strong connection can establish a link and utilize soul-based abilities abet at a weaker state.

Special circumstances and requirements are needed to pull this off, with the easiest being a family bond. But the deep love you share with Carmen and vice versa was good enough to qualify as one of these special circumstances. Still, it was a far cry compared to the original soul resonance between a meister and demon weapon. Even so, you’re willing to gamble it all on this chance. Subtly you establish a link with Carmen, resonating your soul with her as your other hand is transformed into a small staff for her to clinch after telling her to never let go of your hand.

“I don’t need a minute. My decision has already been made.” You announce, telling the Don and the others before looking close to Carmen. Your expression makes it look like you were going to do the “smart” thing and kill Carmen to save yourself. Slowly you ready the gun towards Carmen, preparing your final words just in case.

“Carmen, know that I never wanted you involved in this life. And whatever happens next, I’ll always love you. “ As you say this, you leaned over to steal a kiss from Carmen. A last sweet embrace for the two of you as part of you wish this could last forever. Eventually, you pulled yourself from Carmen, gun aimed at her chest

“Miki…” Carmen cried softly. As she prepared for the worst, you took your gun and swiftly turned it to Don Charlin. A split second was all that was needed to shoot the bastard in the heart. But as you pull the trigger, something unexpected happened.

“No! You mustn’t!!” Carmen screamed, jumping back towards the gun to prevent you from firing at Don Charlin. A single second was all that it took for you to realize what was about to happen, but too slow to stop it from happening. With a loud bang, the bullet from the gun travels straight through Carmen’s chest, absorbing the gunshot. Blood starts gushing from her body as a look of horror starts to fall upon your face. Before the mafia goons could react, Don Charlin simply hold his hand back, telling them to not move. For him, he was already satisfied.

“Why Carmen! Why throw your life away like that to protect a scumbag like him?! Tell me Why!” You screamed, holding Carmen’s body close as the life in her slowly begins to fade. It dawned upon you that despite Bond Resonance being active, it matters not if the attack that came was related to your own wavelength.

“...Because if I didn’t stop you...you’ll be taking the first step to becoming a Kishin. And I won’t let you take that path.“ Carmen said.
>>
>>3942827

“Even if they’re bad men and lowlives like the Don said. No matter the reason, people shouldn’t kill one another and/or eat their souls. It’ll only corrupt you and speed up the process of becoming a Kishin. “ As she explains, Carmen begins coughing up blood. You motion her not to speak but she does so regardless.

“If you just kill these men, you’ll just be marked on the shinigami list once they find out. Those who stray away from the right path will slowly descend into madness as their souls start to corrode and become corrupted. But worst of all…” Tears start to pour out of her eyes as Carmen looks at you deeply in the eyes. “..You’ll lose your heart if you continued.”

“Carmen...I..” You muttered, realizing that your selfishness and blind anger is what led to you this unfortunate fate. Even if you did kill the Don, that wouldn’t stop the others from attacking. How strong would your bond Resonance be to withstand a shower of bullets? And even if it was, what’s to stop them from leaving and acting on that threat or hunting you down when you least expect it. Most of all, as Carmen said, it’ll surely leave a black stain on your soul.

Forcing herself to smile despite the pain, Carmen moves her fingers to wipe the soon to be tears coming from your eyes. “You said it yourself, didn’t you? That you’re not a bloodthirsty animal. Don’t ever lose that conviction of yours Miki. No matter what others think of you, know that you’re not what they say they are. The Miki I believe in all of my heart…..is a kind, compassionate man who just made a few mistakes. Not a scumbag or a bloodthirsty animal, you're ...”

“You’re Miki, that’s who you’ve always been and that’s how you’ll always be...right?” Carmen smiles, returning the favor as she kiss you for the last time. As the two of you embrace each other, the light in her eyes starts to fade. “No matter what happens...I’ll always love you, Miguel.”

With her final words, Carmen suddenly passed out as her body was slowly dying. Despair was rising forward as the last light in your eyes began to fade. Between her slowly lifeless body and Don Charlin's laughter, it was time has stopped for you. Before you had the chance to grieve and breakdown, you work your brain’s thought processing to its highest point for a way to save Carmen. Don Charlin and his men quickly departed now that they have proof of your loyalty. Seems even in her final moments, Carmen ensures your safety.

As you were currently disillusioned with the world around you, you barely register the mafia boss. Still, you recalled his last words being “The dead eyes of a defeated dog is no fun to mold into a proper future La Familia. Still, we’ll keep in touch once you’re done burying her.”

Fittingly enough the sky would pour down hard as if the sky was crying in your steed. In your desperate state came a very reckless idea. Slowly put your hands against Carmen’s dying body, you forcibly initiated another bond resonance. Unlike previously you put your very life force into the equation.

Channeling every last bit of remaining energy inside, you trigger some form of healing effect on Carmen. To your surprise, in your dying moments, you discovered that the woman you loved dearly...was a descendant of a witch. Not that it matters to you as you closed your eyes with a smile. Unfortunately, this was not the end of your story as a spider bites your lifeless body by the neck.

After that, things got dark as you directly couldn’t recall what happened next. From what you were told something horrible happened to the Billards and the Los Charlin family. Reports say that they were mysteriously taken out of an unknown assailant. While the news never went official, rumors spread of the entire family disappearing in a single night like wildfire.

Nobody got a good glimpse of the perpetrator. However, those that did weren’t so lucky to make it out alive in that battle. Akin to an unkillable beast with unbreakable flesh, it thrashed wildly like a force of nature.

No matter what firearm or weaponry used it couldn’t penetrate such impregnable natural defenses. It was as if they were dealing with an unrelenting force of nature, completely unrestrained and capable of letting loose to its unfortunate victims. A true primal monstrosity worthy of the folklore told about its species. What came at them was no longer a man and it certainly didn’t by itself to their standards as an apex predator. The only thing that ended up finally putting an end to the mad beast rampage was a blond-haired priest with a habit of wearing earphones.

After that, you were lying on a hospital bed where you met Justin Law. Through him, you learned that you had managed to survive your reckless life transfusion. Normally the process should’ve killed you and end up being a failure even with bond resonance. Yet here you stood, able to survive and live to tell the tale. As for Carmen, she was currently in a coma. The transfusion has managed to work but doctors were currently baffled at what was the cause for her long slumber. In any case, you were happy that she was still alive, it would’ve been too much to bear if she died because of your mistake.

Even so, you weren’t off the hook yet. Although just by coincidence, Justin was able to act and prevent the worst-case scenario. Despite not telling you exactly what happened to you after you blackout, Justin did explain that you’ve gained Lord Death’s awareness. Instead of being put on Lord Death’s Shinigami list, he instead requested your transfer into Shibusen’s main branch in America next year. Until then you spent the next year under Justin’s guidance. In your honest experience, it was a living hell. His zealous behavior and unyielding devotion to Lord Death made sure to put his all into “refining” you for the trip.

Not that you couldn’t complain since having Justin as your watchdog taught you plenty of things. Things you didn’t consider during your life on the streets, and as a demon weapon Being around the priest helped to sharpen up your skills and polish you up to standard. At least his standards of what a demon weapon should be capable of. As much as you hate to admit it, Justin was a very competent prodigy. A person who became a death scythe without any meister. Therefore, he taught you many ways to fight even without a meister.

In the year being stuck with him as your babysitter, you never once asked him why he spent so much time teaching you, a street rat with little education. And yet you felt that there was an important reason for doing so. But that is a story for another time. In the present, you find yourself currently stepping outside your living quarters. It was the first day of the first semester in Shibusen. Dressed in a uniform of your choosing, you were ready to tackle the day. But old habits were telling you to skip school.

Leaving the dormitory smoothly took you down the path, making it towards the public bus promptly. Running to school probably would’ve been better than taking the bus. But that wasn’t the case because you paid close attention to the pamphlet for Shibusen. The mention of the massive rows of stairs made you rather cautious. If the stairs were looked at as a “daily workout for building a strong body and diligence” then chances are it’ll be expected to climb. The elevators were most likely a no dice if people like Justin are to be expected.

As someone who grew from the streets, you never really had a day where you leisurely tackled a task. Spending your time with Justin further reinforces the divider between you and the pampered of everyday life. Just the thought of being around such people made you feel sick to your stomach. Either that or it was the guilt currently eating you alive. Either way, you kept your old instincts in check and stepped on the bus upon arrival. It was impossible for you to skip school. Not with the frequent mental note of Carmen still being in her year-long slumber.

Although doctors say that she shows healthy signs and physically operating, it was still in a sort of vegetative state. Technically it wasn’t even a coma but closer to a "locked-in state" where a patient retains some consciousness but is unable to respond. The doctors called it “wakefulness without consciousness”, in which the person can blink and move the eyes and even comprehend spoken words. In retrospect that was a best-case scenario since it reassured your benefactor to keep her on life support until she was stable enough to go into the next stage.

But no matter how responsive her body was, the component that governs her soul was empty. The only sign you heard from Carmen, a sign that she was still alive was “Have a good day at school.” Her sudden speech shocked the medical staff as her previous state dubbed her as a sleeping beauty given how deep she was in her comatose-like state. But seeing Carmen show signs of improvement no matter how little was the strength that helped you push forward. This life you share wasn’t just yours anymore, and you wanted to make her proud.

After taking the bus to Shibusen, it only ended up being a fifteen-minute drive. Nothing problematic as you spent your time reflecting. It was still a rather comfy ride. Stepping out of the bus you soon made eye contact with the enormous staircase. Well, the student handbook wasn’t lying about needing strong legs to trek through those stairs. For a normal human, it would be like participating in a marathon. But you’re a werebeast, and a physically fit one. Compared to Justin’s workout plan, this was a total joke.

On that note, you start to take notice of your surroundings, specifically the student body. Unlike regular schools, there was no set uniform for Shibusen. In fact, you have a huge variety of different clothing to pick, even mixing uniform and/or just going with casual clothing is allowed. You, on the other hand, chose something rather plain and easy to move around. Expensive things like clothing never appealed to you since there was more important things like food. Yet here these kids walking towards the stairs wearing the finest of clothing.

Before you have the time to scoff an idea starts brewing in your head. From the student handbook, you recall that the students, especially those living in the dorms are given an allowance of two hundred dollars per week to survive on. What you do with it is entirely on you but this was clearly a test to see how you manage suppliers, balance finances and operate solo. Again, these are things that you already knew how to handle like a pro. But that lies the opportunity for you to make additional dough.

Standing to the side you begin to offer your personal uber service to the students. Ten dollars per student with the price going up to fifty depending on circumstances. Things like if they have luggage, how well they want to be treated, etc. At first, the students were wary of such an act, so as a demonstration you show your skills. Taking just enough strength to make it to half of the stairs and back in under five minutes certainly sold the other students into taking your service.

Therefore, you spent a large portion of your time taking people up and down the stairs by the two load. Not only this was a good exercise for you but you were making a killing as well. Sure this most likely defeated the purpose of the stars, but it only highlights your ingenuity. And who are you to not offer a better way to travel. Eventually, you find yourself making it down the stairs after transporting yet another satisfied customer. Stopping at just the halfway point, you saw there wasn’t anyone left who you didn’t carry to the top.

Pulling out a fat wad of money you quickly counted your estimation as you were now walking away with five hundred dollars. Cheap, dependable, and flexible for customer’s presence, that’s how you were going to make a bank in this school with this uber service. As you put the money aside and laugh to yourself, you catch the glimpse of something flying in the distance at high speeds.

Expectingly you try to lean forward to try and get a glimpse of what was heading towards the entrance to Shibusen. Through your efforts, you’re able to see what appears to be a flying brunette. Upon closer explanation, it was a young girl who looks no older than yourself currently screaming from the top of her lung while flailing her arms around. Normally you felt somewhat inclined to help her. However, as you continue looking at the girl a certain spot was about to be visible towards your eyes.

Without hesitation you turn your head in the opposite direction, still having a rather grumpy expression. You’re a man who is faithful towards your girlfriend Carmen. Comatose or not, you weren’t going to become a scumbag and see under another girl’s skirt. Granted, you never actually did such a thing to Carmen either but its the principle of the matter that truly matters.
As you make your stubborn defiance against falling into that overdone pitfall, your senses suddenly pick up the presence of another.

Moving at high speeds was a blond boy in what appears to be a lavish school uniform. More importantly, your eyes briefly caught the appearance of his legs. On the soil of his feet were metal springs. Or so it appears as such given that it was rather hard to make them out. Either way, you were soon in brief contact with the Frenchman, watching him squat down after his last jump. Before you had any chance to react or ask him what was going on, the Frenchman quickly ascends towards the speeding brunette at blinding speeds.

Unfortunately, the backlash from his abrupt spring hop created enough updraft backlash to send you flying. Unable to root yourself to the ground in time, a misfortunate accident falls your way. Thanks to that bumbling idiot you were currently tumbling down on the sea of stairs like a slinky toy. Each tumble knocking you into a different pose before jumping to the next one upon the next collision with the stairs.

“Mother fucker!” Was the last thing you said as you continue to endure this torment.

Reduced to screaming muffled curse words, you continue to yell in fury while tumbling down like a tumbleweed. Falling down those stairs certainly did a number on your patience. While it didn’t really injure you too bad since your werebeast physiology made you far tougher than regular demon weapons, it didn’t mean you were immune to pain. More so you were angry at being knocked down than anything else.

Only after what seems like an eternity did you finally find solace in it finally coming to an end.
Landing with a loud thud you were now at the bottom of the staircase. Bottom-up, face down you twitch a bit from both the pain and irritation of this predicament that has left you. Now you were always someone who has trouble controlling your anger. Being that both your environment and your nature as a werebeast fester such tendencies.

Usually, you try to keep it in check by bottling up those feelings in order to keep a cool head.
But like all containers, sooner or later it was going to break, and now was one of those times. Rising back on your feet with a swift hop, you proceed to run back up the stairs. You were far passed the stage of turning the other cheek, forgiving and forget. No, the only way you were going to be satisfied if you rough him up.

Lucky for you someone has already thought ahead. At the distance, you saw that same luxurious Frenchman flying downwards towards your direction. Now you weren’t a religious person but it was clear that buddha was smiling at you to take karmic revenge. With a single step, you aimed a series of rabid punches at high speeds. Pummeling him great ferocity until satisfaction, you eventually finish the act with a relentless powerbomb.

You are Francis De la Valiere, a sword masquerading as a stereotypical demon weapon of nobility. Currently, you lie buried six feet under the plated bedrock. Feet sticking up like a turnip, your body was deeply enclosed by your sudden encounter with a madwoman and angry beastman. Your mind was currently at a moment of loss at exactly what could have driven them to attack you so ferociously.

Perhaps they were just jealous of your superior charm and couldn’t help themselves. This wasn’t exactly anything new for you since while you can handle people, it seems that the same can’t be said for others when dealing with you. Be that as it may, its been a really long time since someone actually beat you up. Unable to grasp the reason for it, you think back to the reason for being here.

Thinking about it for a good moment, you reflect back to what Excalibur told you. You were to join Shibusen in order to learn what “true strength” is. There was more too it than that but right now you weren’t really focused to bother sweating the smaller stuff. In any case, you quickly proceed to transform your legs into rapier blades. Once materialized you shift your legs to stab the ground like an anchor.

With some strenuous pulling, you manage to pull yourself out of the Francis sized hold and spring back to form. After that, you dispelled the rapier blades and returned to having regular feet. You needed to conserve as much energy you have left in order to rejuvenate and recover back to top form. That said, this forces you to walk up the stairs in the old fashion way. A bummer but you already proved your superiority once. There was no need to do it again.

Eventually, it’ll take you the better part of an hour to make your way up those steps and reach the top of the staircase. Having to follow the tortoise and the hare mentality didn’t do well to coddle your noble status but it couldn’t be helped. Being affected by such trivial matters was beneath you after all. As a noble sword, you needed to be the shining example for all demon weapons to follow if they ever want to polish themselves and reach their true potential.

Upon arrival, you look around to see that there was nobody around. You only assumed that everyone was in class as you walk into the building. Following the arrows directed the freshmen to their respective spots, you find yourself met with a crossroad. One arrow pointed to the left where the NOT students were to be. The other arrow pointed right where the EAT students were to be stationed. But for some reason, you were having a hard time focusing. Maybe it was the concussion.

Feeling rather disorientated your sense of direction was taking quite the hit. You weren’t completely sure but it feels like you might have a concussion. Just maybe, it was hard to tell as you didn’t feel any sort of pain. But there was this minor feeling of nausea currently creeping down your body. Perhaps you should go look for the nurse to check your nogging just to be safe. But that’s concerns to deal with later.

To make matters worse you were having a hard time reading the signs. For instance, why was the cafeteria labeled as EAT? You wanted to go to the NOT spot since if you were a secret elite training program, you would disguise yourself through reverse psychology. Clever tricks like that won’t deceive such a man of your status. Either way, you were in no condition to tell which way was with so lady luck will decide.

Flipping a gold coin you look up to see where it was heading. Heads was the NOT, Tails was the EAT. Watching the coin with the focus of a hawk, you remain stationary as it falls directly on your forehead. Eyes still locked on the coin, you slowly move your right hand upwards, turning it into a blade to use the reflection to see what it landed on. Lucky you the coin has seemed to land on heads. Lady luck was truly on your side.

Eventually, after navigating through the halls, you made yourself exactly where you supposed to be. The NOT Classrooms. Placing your hand on your head, you slowly walk inside to notice several people already in the room. Standing in the room was none other than Sid Barret himself. Currently, he was looking through a green notebook as he was taking attendance.

“Greetings. You must be new. Find your place in the classroom and take a label disregarding what type you are. There are two choices, between meister and weapon. After that, we can begin the Normally Overcoming Target introduction.”
