Located on Honshu island in Japan is the city of Hakoniwa. A once quiet suburb that in recent decades saw massive development starting in the early 1900s. Currently, it has a population of one million residences with more coming far and wide. Throughout the region, it is considered to be a garden filled with opportunity and prosperity. A place where one can carve their future and rise to the top. Or so that is what one is normally led to believe.

On its surface, this metropolis appears like your typical, average run of the city. Perfectly ordinary to those who hear about it, but it has one unusual statistic that sets it apart from other cities. Firstly not all men are created equal and no place better demonstrates that universal truth quite like Hakoniwa. Throughout the world, there are several types of individuals that possess extraordinary abilities that can be considered superhuman. While it has been shown countless times the boundless potential and capabilities of humanity, these individuals go beyond the limits of what regular humans are capable of.

These extraordinary people have nestled themselves deep within places like Hakoniwa. The most noteworthy location of where they station themselves in is Hakoniwa Academy. A prosperous academy where only the best of the best are granted entrance. It is said that countless famous and influential people have their humble beginnings take place in Hakoniwa Academy. Regardless, the academy is tailored at fine-tuning potential and bringing out the very best of a person. Or teaching them how to control their special talents and hone it to perfection.

Through over a hundred years of hard work and perseverance, the city of Hakoniwa and its faculties have successfully documented these extraordinary people. Specifically how they operate, what makes them different from regular people, and any other important information that factors into their sense of being. To the public, these special people are labeled under the term Mentalities, but to dive deeper, there are three primary categories. Those three are named Special, Abnormality and Minus.

A special is a person who excels at specific talents or innate skills. Aside from their strong dedication towards their craft, they are more or less akin to regular humans. With the sole exception that these individuals have generally pushed themselves to peak performance or at least hold the necessary means to achieve such heightened reinforcement once properly trained. These people make up the majority of the academy’s students, especially that of the scholarship holders. While it is possible to consider these people superhuman, the majority of the time they are limited in what they can achieve, further cementing the peak they stand at the summit of humanity.

An Abnormal is a person who carries tremendous amounts of natural talent and innate ability. In comparison to a special, the Abnormal easily overwhelm them with their natural capabilities, thus dubbing them superhuman. This overwhelming aspect of themselves often manifests itself as a special power or skill named an Abnormality. Each abnormality differs from person to person but one unified truth is that those who carry Abnormalities are often feared and isolated by those unable to stand beside them as equals. Therefore, one often finds themselves seeking other abnormalities either subconsciously or willingly depending on their intent.

Perhaps even more chaotic than an Abnormal is the Minus. Minuses are the polar opposite of an Abnormality despite their similarities. They are people who's innate ability has far exceeded the realms of a regular Abnormality. Unlike with regular Abnormalities, these individuals are further warped by their extraordinary power. A minus typically has little to no control over their powers, causing them to suffer extraordinary amounts of trauma as their minds deteriorate to a degree. These warped individuals are notoriously dangerous with the worst being those who completely lack any semblance of empathy or responsibility. Like abnormalities, they often stick to themselves, collaborate with other minuses or clash with abnormalities to prove their sense of self although far warped compared to a typical abnormal.

Although these three types are the most prominent in the world, especially in Hakoniwa, some special individuals don’t fall into the three primary classes. Despite this, they still operate on a level that is far beyond that of a regular person, carrying their form of supernatural abilities. Currently, these individuals are unknown, but like a natural disaster, sooner or later they’ll make themselves known. But that’s a topic for another time.

“And to be frank...I’m getting rather bored explaining to you stuff that you undoubtedly already know.” A feminine voice broke through that infinite blackness that once claimed your sense of self. It was a soft if not angelic tone carrying countless wisdom and maturity. Yet its tone was that of a rather laid-back cheerful girl, no older than yourself.

As you open your eyes you find yourself currently sitting next to a desk surrounded by empty desks. From what you can tell you were in a classroom styled like your old middle school. Talk about bad luck considering you just graduated from that prep school and was heading to Hakoniwa Academy. Darting your eyes to try and figure out what was going on, your attention soon turned directly towards the teacher’s table. On top of the table appeared to be a radiant beauty without equal. It was a very pretty brunette woman, staring at you rather closely with her crimson eyes. Unfortunately, you were rather speechless to say anything.

Although she didn’t speak, just from her look alone already told you what she’d say to you in response. What’s wrong? Am I so beautiful that you’ve no words to say? Just thinking that as a response would make you feel humiliated in front of this mysterious woman. Thus, you continue to not utter a single response as she finally breaks the cycle of silence yet again.

“It's time for you to decide. Do you want to be the hero of this story? Or perhaps the villain? Maybe you’re the indecisive type and don’t want your morality to be labeled so simply. That or you’re an edgelord who wants to be that Anti-hero Grey instead? Whatever you want to be matters not to me. That being said, it would be best for us if you have your shit together before entering to the spotlight.” The mysterious woman said, twirling her finger while keeping her eyes closed. Mysterious and cryptic, already you can tell you’re in for one hell of migrate once you wake up from this...dream? Hallucination? Brush with death? You weren’t sure how you ended up like this at the moment.

Turning her head back to your direction, you find yourself staring deep into her half-opened crimson eyes again. “So let’s start at the beginning? What’s your mentality?”

Without a shred of hesitation, you find yourself lifting the desk and flipping it in a perfect 360 spin out of frustration. The table for some reason was able to keep itself high in the air through the force of your mighty spin. The Mysterious woman could only look at your action with sudden shock and mild confusion from a simple question. But that was the problem, it was simple, far too simple for someone like you to let it slide and comply. Briefly catching the mysterious woman off guard with your antics you puff up your chest and prepare for a loud rant.

“Listen here and listen well! Things like specials, abnormality, minus and everything in between don’t apply to me at all! I’m not some no-name extra who’s defined solely by their quirk or appearance. Don’t be looking at it so superficially you buxom dream girl! So I’d like it if you show me with a little more respect here.” After saying that you fold your arms in a proud standoff before slamming your foot on the spinning desk. Dramatically it lands properly on its legs and remained in the upright position. As if it had never once left its spot.

Seeing such hot-blooded passion mixed with steadfast determination was quite a refreshing feeling for the woman. If it wasn’t for your shift in mood you’d probably be able to notice the subtle smile forming on her pale face. That smile smoothly transition into a puffed-up cackle before eventually into sheer laughter. To say she was flabbergasted was an understatement although from your eyes it looks like she was making fun of you. It’ll only take a couple minutes of deep laughing before any semblance of her once mature and easy-going demeanor would return.

“Are you laughing at me?!” You called, getting a bit irritated at the disrespect.

“Ah, sorry about that. I just never thought in my wildest imagination ...that I’d meet another candidate to become a Not Equal. Or even what I been seeking most…” She replied softly, breaking up the laughter and wiping a tear from her eye as she thinks back to meeting a certain individual in the hospital when they were just a child. Soon another image flashed back far back in a time where samurais and monks among other things were the norm. Standing on top of thousands of defeated men was a single man, his back turned to the world as the only noticeable trait aside from his robust body was his demonic like spiky hair and horns.
>>
>>3906025

A memory that soon went away as the woman slowly turns her attention back to you. “Before I get caught up by nostalgia and start rambling, let’s focus back on your endeavors” As she says this you briefly gave her a shuffled before attempting to settle down and let her continue.

“Let’s see. You were born with a powerful ability, not unlike those of shonen protagonists. Though with your attitude and actions, you might be a deconstruction of that tired old archetype. Of course, that also comes with its own. Either way, you have my interest,“ A soft smile formed on the woman’s lips, closing her eyes as she gave a cheerful approval to you. You couldn’t help but look smug about it but still attempt to keep some semblance of coolness to yourself.

“The look on your face tells me. Are you sure you’re alright or just too dazed by my presence to think straight?” “Well whatever it is, I’ll be happy to stroke your ego and tell you about your own power”

>Maximum Overdrive, An unusual ability that is treated as both an Abnormality and a Minus simultaneously. Akin to a natural phenomena, it fills you to the brim with the essence of life itself. Constantly accumulating and stockpiling over time, has aided you in a wide assortment of capabilities including supercharging one’s capabilities far beyond what they are normally capable of including yourself. For better or worse, the output can redefine everything.

>Climatic Hour, An unusual ability that is treated as both an Abnormality and a Minus simultaneously. Dancing with the reaper constantly, you’re often pushed to the brink between life and death yet somehow surviving every time. Although it grants many advantages to compensate for its grueling requirement, the most noteworthy effect lies with manipulating the lethality of all things and how the danger(s) influences you depending on the pendulum swing.

>Number One, An unusual ability that is treated as both an Abnormality and a Minus simultaneously. You aren’t sure how but whenever you face an ordeal, challenge or something that motivates you, it somehow triggers your growth rate to astronomical levels to adapt, develop, and transcend to a higher state of being regardless of standing or opposition. Almost as if your body is constantly creating countermeasures and/or upgrading you to the next level to reach an even playing field.

>Parasite Seeing (True), An unusual ability that is treated as both an Abnormality and a Minus simultaneously. Through some unforeseen force, you were blessed with the ability of true understanding and empathy. So long as your thoughts are on a target, any target including yourself, you can perceive everything and analyze every aspect of them. Becoming a living doppelganger you can achieve anything they are naturally able to do without issue although temporarily so long as the ability is active.

A word of warning, given the nature of the source material, it's also a satire of Shonen with some meta-humor. So don't be too surprised or upset if comments like this happen, especially with this girl.

Also each of the abilities are a generalization of certain shonen protag archetype, the most prominate is the big three.

Just the mysterious woman foretold you listen closely to the summary of your special power. Naturally, there wasn’t anyone who didn’t know your ability better than yourself. Yet you held a certain fondness when someone else proclaimed your phenomenal capability. Once again it highlighted you as someone far beyond the role of an extra or supporting character. Much like the name suggests, you were the one who stands above all, shining brighter than anyone. So you were quite happy hearing her talk about how awesome you are. As if you wouldn’t settle for anything else.

“And thus concludes our tutorial with Number One. Pretty surprising that you would pick something like that to identify yourself with. With how that series ended I figured many would still be salty over it. But once again you manage to rise above my expectations and dash them to the wind.”

“I don’t settle for anything less. Now that you undressed my “talents” I think you should skip the formalities and tell me who you are and why am I in a place like this? I’m a busy person after all.” You proclaimed, folding your arms while staring intensely at the mysterious woman. Your invisible aura lid up, becoming visible to those around as it went off like wildfire. If she needed any more proof that you were a “protagonist” then you’d be happy to show her just that.

“Now, now don’t be like that. After all, we’re going to be working together from now on. So we should be on much friendlier terms” She smiled, pulling out a fan to essentially “fan the flames” as she coddles you while having a small hint of condescendence.

After seeing you calmed down if only somewhat, she begins to tap her index finger on her lips. Taking a convincing thinking expression, she slowly crosses her legs and tilts her head upwards. “I believe that I was called Ajimu Najimi when I was alive but you can call me Anshin'in. A pleasure to meet you, Hero.“

Slowly you nod to her, accepting her warm greeting. However, something about her name started to bug you. For some reason, that name sounds familiar to you, almost as if this wasn’t the first time you met this mysterious entity. As you try to think you feel something fuzzy clouding your mind. The answers were there but something was keeping you from remembering. Relentlessly struggling against this you soon find yourself forming steam out of your head from overclocking. No matter how hard you tried you couldn’t find yourself able to pierce the fog and uncover the answers you seek.

“Ah ah ah, don’t even think about trying to fish your memories for any connections with yours truly. You won’t be able to access any of those clues in your current state. And even if you could, you’ll just forget about it when you return to the physical plane.”Aijimu smiled, waggling her finger at you to warn you not to dig any deeper. Normally you would feel compelled to look even harder, like a kid trying to find their Christmas presents. But for some reason, you feel complied to do as she asked.

“Now let’s go back to talking about you. We know what defines you, but who exactly are you? Your last name is Hakuma and there’s a lot to pack from according to your family ties. But we’re not here to talk about your family origins, we’re here to talk about you.” She asked, swiftly closing her fan before pointing back you as the memories start flooding in.

“Keichi Hakumasa, otherwise nicknamed Ichiro or Haku, with the girls however it’s Ken-chan. A fifteen-year-old bancho who’s supposedly turning a new leaf. Not many people can say they were once the White Tiger, one of the Four Heavenly Kings in Hakoniwa. To put it short, you have quite the notorious reputation.” Aijimu said, pulling out a book with some reading glasses as she perfectly documents your life story.

Well, she wasn’t wrong about being a notorious delinquent. Although part of you settle on turning a new leaf was to get away from all that unwanted attention and baggage. After all, you promised your mother that your high school life at Hakoniwa Academy was going to be different. The strongest of Banchous couldn’t compare to your mother when she was angry. As for your father, he was usually working abroad as an archeologist, unlike your mom who's a doctor so he didn’t meddle with your way of life. Granted, that was as long as you remembered the manly code.

Of course, there was another, more important reason than just being a good son. Throughout your years of fighting delinquents and punks to protect your home town, you honestly felt rather bored of it. Fighting thugs was child’s play and you weren’t getting any real stronger. The fact you can take down fully grown adults easily made you a monster to the other delinquents. Though it still didn’t stop them from flocking like flies trying to pay you back. Still, you took them on no matter what tricks or setup they had in store. Even so, you were done with that part of your life.

Well, there was one more reason for your sudden requirement. Unfortunately, like with trying to remember why Aijimu’s name is so important to you, you couldn’t figure out who it was. You could vaguely recall having one hell of a fight from a certain individual. But for the likes of you, you couldn’t exactly remember his face or anything relating to him. The only signs of that fated encounter was the experience you accumulated battling with such an important individual. Even if your mind could not remember, it was your body that kept the memories close to this day.

“Now that we know the basics of your life or as much as I care to summarize for you. We can talk about the reason why you’re here. Starting with this girl?” Slowly pulling out a photograph from her chest, Aijimu shows you what appears to be a young girl. A rather buxom blue-haired girl with twin tails currently standing victorious with a flag. One glance alone was enough to tell you who this person is.

Looking deeply at the picture, you begin to recall the blue-haired woman. Slowly it was coming to you who exactly what she is, and more importantly what her relationship with you. You felt a strong compulsion to d’oh slap yourself on the head on nearly forgetting something so simple. However, your eyes catch Aijimu looking at you with rising curiosity. Almost as if she was mentally documenting your expression to gauge the importance of this particular individual. That or she was expecting you to give in to your hormones and lust over that body. It was hard to say.

Breaking up the suffocating tension with a cough, you proceed to grab the picture to get a closer look. You also gave a stern look signifying that you aren't that kind of person. “That blue hair, the look in her eyes, that face--! Wait, no, I don't know her after all."

“Hmmm” Aijimu mused, leaning closer to get a better look on your face. Right now you were trying to pretend you don’t know her, making a rather convincing poker face. Still, easier said than done. It was like trying to deceive a watchful owl,

“Well ignoring that for now, this is Medaka Kurokami. She’s a freshman in Hakoniwa Academy and through her charisma and talent has managed to achieve for the first time in a long time to get elected as student council president. There’s more to her than meets the eye but for now, I want to devise your attention specifically to the fact that she’s shining brighter than you.” Aijimu said, giving off a subtle hint of condescendence in her tone. She was pushing your buttons while keeping her hand hidden.

Hearing her bring that low blow was enough to form cracks on your poker face. Some part of you knew that this was a ruse but damn was she good at ruffling your feathers. “...Excuse me?”

“Well you two are both from the same class and yet for someone who claimed to be number one, you’re good at being second fiddle instead of the protagonist of this story. So I just need to confirm whether or not you’re committing to the role. After all, if we’re to be beneficial partners then I need someone who can fulfill the role of the main protagonist.“ Aijimu shrugged, keeping her smile as she turns her back at you. Anger was starting to take over reason.

>Prove your commitment by declaring to defeat Medaka and take your rightful spot.
>Continue your poker face by being indecisive and needing something to help push the scales to her favor
>Taunt Aijimu by pointing out that she needs you, not the other way around

Anger was swelling inside you or so it would seem at first glance. In truth, you weren’t particularly angry at Ajimu second-guessing your legitimacy over being the main protagonist of this story. No, no. What you were feeling was far more dignified than mere jealousy or anger. Medaka Kurokami was someone that’s deeply connected to your destiny as fate has foretold. What destiny is matters not for you? Instead, your attention was solely focused on Ajimu.

“Hm? What’s wrong? Don’t tell me that I struck a nerve by attacking your ego like that.” Ajimu asked, briefly blinking at the rampant trembling coming from your body before a sudden stop. It piqued her curiosity, to say the least as she wasn’t feeling anything from you.

“Angry? Is that how you perceive what I am feeling right now? How presumptuous of you to assume that.” You said, taking a deep breath to reaffirm your feelings. Your sky blue eyes were currently covered by the bangs of hair. Giving you a rather ominous feeling as you shift your gaze onto Ajimu. “What I’m feeling right now is pity for you.”

“Pitty? And why exactly would you be pitting me?”Ajimu blinked, taken slightly off shock before masking it with a closed eye smile at your feelings.

“Yes, pity over the fact you’d think I’m someone of a lesser being to get riled up by Medaka Kurokami. Saying ridiculous things like losing my spot as the main protagonist just because I didn’t choose to run for student council president. ” You explained, folding your arms together as you shift your eyes to look at the ceiling. In your eyes, you were seeing the entirety of the infinite realm of space itself. At the center of that infinity was the rising sun, shining brighter than any star.

Slowly you formed a smile before sending a rather intimidating presence around your surroundings. “I am the one who stands above all. Why would I feel petty things like jealousy or anger over something so trivial? If anything, I can only commend Medaka for achieving such a goal. For someone to be my adversary, they’ll need to at least be that of student council president. Anything less would be an insult to the people that I defeated, much less an insult to myself.”

“My, such a prideful man you are. So what you’re saying that you only let Medaka take the spotlight to put yourself as the underdog and still claim victory despite the odds? You’re becoming more and more interesting by the second Ken-chan.” Ajimu smiled.
>>
>>3909074

“Correct, I am a prideful man. Much like the lion that rules over the pride lands, it is in my nature to be number one. Regardless of what handicaps or stipulations I place upon myself, in the end, I’ll still win in the end. Victory incarnation is my mantle, my veil, my symbol.” With that, you slowly start to rise from the desk to look at Ajimu straight at the eye with a confident smile. That glowing blue hue intensifies as its no longer covered by your strawberry blond hair, though it was more orange than blond. “That said, you’re being quite sloppy Ms. Ajimu. I didn’t think it would be in your best interest to reveal the current state that you’re in.”

As you say those words, Ajimu’s closed eyes would open ever so slightly at your implication. Continuing to keep her charade even now, she kept up a soft smile and resume closing her eyes. Her legs crossed together to keep her modest charm. Placing her hands against her knee, she remained stationary on the desk while waiting for an answer. In her mind, she believed that this was a mere bluff but she was willing to hear you out. Another test to see rather or not she made the right choice in picking you.

“From my perspective, it seems like you need more far more than I need you. If that wasn’t the cause then you’ve taken care of this Medaka Kurokami yourself. The dead cannot interfere with the world of the living. So I can only assume that this classroom I am in is some sort of purgatory or spatial realm residing in my soul.” Slowly you dart your eyes looking around the classroom, your left hand resting against the wood of the desk. It was all so real but somehow you managed to analyze in such a short time that where you’re standing is not a dream. Just your Number one kicking itself to top gear to solve the issue. “Either that or you’re using such a convenient excuse not to fight her yourself cause you know you can’t beat her yourself.”

“...Are you sure you want to say those words to me? I thought you were someone that I...don't need to be lectured on choosing your words carefully.” Ajimu smiled, this time slowly removing her hands against her knee to rest against the desk. Even now she remained to hold on to her image of the sweet, upperclassmen that present herself before you. But small cracks were forming on the facade.

“Do not be mistaken Ms. Ajimu. I am not here to pick a fight with you, despite knowing the fact that I’ll win in the end against yourself in this current state. I merely want to remind you where you stand ...”You said, remembering to be polite while addressing to your senior. That said, there was a hint of condescending in your tone as you begin to walk towards Ajimu until you stood right in front of her. “...Beneath me, right down to staring at my chest like a starstruck fan.”
>>
>>3909113

At that point, the facade was shattering, right at the point of hearing your boastful taunt. Slowly those crimson eyes of hers open themselves up for a narrowed gaze. A sinister radiance like that of a black sun or solar eclipse. The room itself was trembling from her mere presence as a crimson and black aura subtly lashes around her in a violent dance. That was the look you wanted to see, the real Ajimu Najimi. Commenting it to memory, you continue to hold off a smug smile while locking eyes with Ajimu. A clash between souls as the room trembles against both presence. Her grip on the desk starts to leave cracks as furniture was holding onto dear life.

“What a cheeky little brat you become Ken-chan? How long has it been since I had someone actually try looking down at me? You are fit to be a protagonist. Or at the very least, the deconstruction of the high confident, hot-blooded troublemaker. But do try to be careful with your words. You wouldn't want to be looked at as a villainous protagonist and be hated now, would you? If so, might as well spike up your hair, bleach it and start triggering explosions.” Ajimu said, keeping her smile as she leans on her face. The large table had now seen better days as it was thoroughly trashed by Ajimu’s pressure. A slight sweat formed on the back of your neck. Fear hasn’t completely gripped you but you were more interested in getting to know Ajimu more now.

“Still, I’ll reward you for standing your ground despite trying to invade into my sphere of influence. “ As Ajimu says this, she slowly offers her right hand to you. A glowing orb starts to manifest itself, creating several different colors until it collided to make a rainbowish space. It emits a truly impressive force of power as you felt the intensity of its heat.

“It’s a rather powerful abnormality. Although it has yet to fully mature yet, so at its current state it's more like a Minus than a Plus like typical abnormalities. Still, out of the skills that I have accumulated in my entire life, this one is a special skill befitting a mantle of non-equal. I’m confident that you’ll be able to defeat Medaka Kurokami, but comparing her skill The End to your Number One, she’ll have the greater edge. That is because of one simple factor that you currently lack. That’s where this skill, the ultimate counter to The End comes into play.” Ajimu said.

>Accept the Skill 「The Beginning」completely
>Decline the Skill 「The Beginning」
>Hold on to the skill 「The Beginning」for now, focus on your power only to prove Ajimu wrong

Keichi doesn't have the same kind of plot armor that would allow him to defeat a goddess like herself, unlike Medaka. Number One is a skill worthy of being considered for a Non-Equal spot, but it's not invincible.

To Ajimu you're just an investment to defeating Medaka but between the two of you, she feels way more confident in defeating you then Medaka.

“In time you’ll learn all about what that special effect will come into play in defeating Medaka Kurokami. But for now, I think you should master this power called The Beginning. Do that and you’ll possibilities will truly be infinite.” Ajimu stretches out her hand, slowly moving the orb towards you. She said nothing else as you already understood the gravity of the situation. Whatever was to happen next was entirely dependant on your next action.

Sensing the immense power emulating from the orb, you feel yourself almost taking a step back. Even with someone of your arrogance can understand just exactly what was in front of you. Yet at the same time, you were getting rather excited. “Alright, I suppose I should accept this gift since you’re being compliant with knowing your place. That said…” Slowly you trailed your voice as you take another deep breath.

“I’m not going to take that assumption that I can’t beat Medaka Kurokami without your help. No matter who I fight, my power is the only value. To achieve victory with anything else will just insult my pride. So I’ll take your investment as a sign of good faith in this pact. But remember, I’ll be the one to defeat Medaka Kurokami, not you.” You smirked, slowly grabbing the orb with both hands before reeling your arms back.

“And a man without any pride might as well be dead right? Honestly, you don’t have to try to impress me with your bravado. Especially when it's one so outdated.” Ajimu chuckled, pulling back her hand as it now rests against her chest. The orb you’re currently holding was oozing with power, but despite that, it continued to keep itself in a calming swirling vortex. Not a single ounce of its phenomenal power escaped from its soothing currents. That exciting feeling started to escalate further.

“Still, those were some pretty bold words. I expect nothing less from the Banchou King of the West. Let’s just hope your prideful spirit can take this abnormality without losing yourself in the process.” After hearing Ajimu giving you the go-ahead, you start to brace yourself from what's to come.

Without hesitation, you begin to ease the orb close to you. Abnormalities were powers that are directly tied to the person’s character. But the vice versa can also happen, especially if one was too weak to keep themselves from being influenced. You who were steadfast in determination carried an iron resolve like no other. Like you said, you wanted to defeat Medaka with your power, not rely on some charity case to do the job for you. That’s not how the one who stands above all works. At least, that’s what you told yourself.

As you place the rainbowish orb into your chest it begins to integrate itself into you. Slowly the large orb starts to sink into your body. The immense warmth it carries was now directly flowing into you. Steadily you push the orb into your body, carrying a sense of carefulness to let your body ease up to it. After a couple of seconds, the last of the rainbow orb sinks into your body. Once inside you felt nothing substantial happening to you. In light of this, you started to laugh, patting yourself on the chest in triumphant.

“See? Nothing happened. I told you that I can handle-” Before you finished making another boast your vision started to become blurry. Ajimu’s appearance started to distort right in front of your very eyes. Soon she would go from one to three very convenience copies of herself as your sight was deteriorating. Followed by some intense breathing, your body was slowly starting to hyperventilate. As for Ajimu, all she did was continued to smirk at you.

“If only you threw away your pride and accepted the Abnormality fully without resistance. Your sense of self would’ve changed completely but at least you wouldn’t be dealing with unimaginable amounts of pain.” Ajimu remarked, looking at your forehead as it begins to split and release a small stream of blood.

“Since time doesn’t flow in this space, we have until the end of eternity for one of two things to happen. Either you manage to successfully incorporate this power into you without losing yourself. Or the Abnormality will tear you apart, leaving you permanently a broken shell. Words cannot describe the agony this absorption will cause for you. In real-world time, it could go on for hours or even days depending on your willpower and physical body. The pain will get worse over time, so don’t be surprised if you end up wishing for a quicker death as you endure it.” Ajimu explained in between watching your body twists and dislocate its joints only to realign them to do it again and again. A constant sensation of destruction and reconstruction was taking place as you find yourself dropping to your knees.
>>
>>3909543

Ajimu didn’t say a word but you felt like you heard the phrase “Oh? Look at that. It seems you can kneel and bow after all?” echoing inside your eardrum alongside the painful ringing. Every cell in your body was screaming in pain over the tremendous presence that was tearing at your very core. And yet Ajimu was holding something like this all this time? Perhaps what hurt more than the immense pain you were feeling was the blow taken to your pride. Just who exactly is Ajimu Najimi? Riddled with this deep sense of humiliation, you gave out a swift glare to Ajimu.

“Now don’t look at me with those eyes. When a Maiden gives her very heart to you, as a man you’ve had to accept any hardship and endure the pain. Otherwise, you can’t call yourself a man much less a shonen protagonist.” Ajimu smiled, forming her hands into a shape of a heart to make light of the bloody situation you were forced to undergo. She wasn’t wrong in the sense that this mere presence feels a lot like Ajimu herself but something else as well. Not that you had to ponder such things as you were too busy focusing on not splitting into pieces.

Rendered speechless by the pain you force yourself to grin and bear it. Also, you start pulling yourself back up from the ground. Newfound determination was rising to the surface to combat this challenge. This power was truly immeasurable and out of this world. It was like trying to cage a ferocious beast. No, the beast that was clawing itself inside your very soul couldn’t even be compared to any sort of creature in the modern era. What you were feeling was the monstrosity of a primordial behemoth from an era lost to the test of time. Just standing alone despite the overwhelming pain was taking all of your strength. But you weren’t exactly the type of person to kneel beneath others.

For the next seventy-two hours, you endured the grueling experience without passing out for a single second. If you had done so, you strongly felt like you wouldn’t be waking up afterward. Through force of will or strength of heart, your body was burgeoning in housing the chaotic abnormality. Withstanding the torment eventually allowed the body to synchronize with the rainbow orb and keep it contained. Your very self being carried enough strength to keep yourself together and suppress the orb into the depths of your soul in a dormant state. For now, you could stand triumphant over this achievement.

On the other hand, you were bleeding from head to toe from the process. Standing in a massive pool of your blood, you felt all of your life’s struggles and ordeals were a cakewalk compared to this. Only now was your remaining will strong enough to keep you from both falling to the ground and passing out soon after. At the very least, the threat of the 「The Beginning」was neutralized for now.

“Well, there was more that I wanted to talk about but judging your condition you’re in no shape to listen to my evil wisdom. Not that it matters since I’m always with you Ken-chan.” Ajimu remarked, noticing the blood leaking from multiple parts of your body. You were no different from that of a rag doll with how brutalized you were over your recent endeavors. Ajimu continued to smile upon you while shifting her legs into another cross.

“Still, at the very least I’ll send you off with a good-” Before Ajimu could finish you took the initiative. Not sure if you were going to get another chance at this, you began to push yourself past your limits. Every bone in your body was creaking while your cells screamed at the top of their lungs. Yet you didn’t care how painful the trip was, all that was going into your mind was the woman in front of you.

Pressing your lips deeply against Ajimu, you commit yourself to give a passionate kiss. A kiss filled to the bursting point with white-hot flames that it’ll incarnate even this walking empty void of a kuudere into a simple deredere. Meanwhile, Ajimu found herself completely swept off her foot by the sudden action. On one hand, she could’ve easily smacked you away against the wall with tremendous force. Completely falling under the requirements to be called a shitty romance series rather than the hot-blooded slice of life shonen it was geared towards.

And yet here she stood not moving a single muscle in retaliation. How long has it been since she felt such immense warmth radiating on to her? The warmth of the sun as it blazes through the darkness to illuminate the world. Although with Ajimu’s influence, that the sun was more likely that of a black sun than the traditional one filled with purity and brilliance. Eventually, you pulled your lips from Ajimu after what felt like an eternity for you. It was enough to satisfy you for putting up with Ajimu’s antics. Newfound resolve started to resonate with you as you fight against passing out.

“I might not remember who you are or what sort of relationship you and I have. But that doesn’t matter in the slightest. I am a man who trusts my instincts before anything else. And they’re telling me to rise to the challenge. A challenge even greater than defeating Medaka Kurokami.” You said, explaining to her your motives as a character while transitioning into a dramatic pose. Slowly moving your finger towards Ajimu, you swiftly change into a finger gun position, pointing it directly at Ajimu’s heart.

“Ajimu Najimi, you will become my woman. I don’t know how but I will pull you from this classroom and return you to the mortal realm. And when I do, you will marry me. A goddess-like yourself is the only suitable choice for a romantic partner for the one that stands above all. “ With a smile, only a madman can make, you pulled your finger back, simulating Cupid shooting Ajimu through the chest and straight to her heart. With your remaining strength, you then took a signature pose before falling on your back. Your body couldn’t go on any further, leaving you to see the flustered look on Ajimu’s face as your consolation prize before passing out. Yeah, that’s good. That’s exactly what I wanted ...

With that, you collapse completely, embracing the eternal blackness as you drift into unconsciousness. As you lie on the ground, your body starts to disappear in an illuminating white light. Ajimu who was still reflecting on the kiss could only watch with bewilderment and amusement. Slowly hopping from the desk, she approaches your body to give you a goodbye kiss. Upon doing so, the white light briefly turned into a blackish-red before flicking back to being white. With nothing holding you back, your soul finds itself returning to the land of the living as the room reconstructs itself back to normal.

“Same old Ken-chan. Even without your memories of the past...you still ended up saying those same words during our first encounter. Even stealing my first kiss like the first time too. ..It’s no wonder why Misogi Kumagawa killed you on that day before sealing me with Bookmaker after ripping off my face to see if his love for me was the real deal or not. The debt you owe to me for using my power to save you instead of preventing my current predicament is immeasurable.” Ajimu smiles, her facade was now completely shattered. Soon she returned to being the empty and cynical tyrant as her aura was now that of a minus. No, to call what she is now as a mere minus was a severe insult to the abnormal monstrosity that is Ajimu.

“Then again, it was my investment to bet it all on you so I’m fine with putting up with this for now. Although you’re quite misinformed on who I am or the true nature of what you just did, it's so sweet so I’ll let it slide. If you want to try and make a “goddess” of Calamity your woman then you’re free to try. So long as it motivates you to play the role you’re bound to then I can honestly care less what happens to me. So fight on, my dimwitted Devil.” Ajimu smiled again, this time more wickedly as the room distorted into a twisted parody of itself.

Back at what appears to be a large two stories estate near the lake and mountain region, you find yourself lying against your bed. Judging from the clock to the side, it seems that you were awakened by the sound of your alarm clock. Or so you think, it was hard to tell as your hearing was slowly returning to you. For some reason, you felt positively happy despite not remembering what just happened. At the same time, your body was notoriously stiff and feeling out of energy. Either way, it was another weekday and you have school in an hour.

Looking at your surroundings, your eyes dart back to the calendar. It was the second week of April and the start of the new semester. To everyone in your generation, it was your transition from middle schoolers to high schoolers. Just three years of high school and you’ll be out to tackle the world. For yo,u, it was just another Monday morning as you begin to rise from the bed. From the time you were in elementary school you were someone who kept perfect attendance. Through rain or snow, sickness or family matters, no matter what you always found a way to make it to school and kept that record of perfect attendance.

With a long yawn, you started to walk towards your bathroom and begin your morning ritual. Your room was on the highest floor of your three stories house, complete with its sky window. You remember having a strong fondness of looking at the stars with your parents when you were young. A boundless world left undiscovered just waiting for one to answer the call of adventure. It was at that point you wanted to be an astronaut. At least, that was the kid you in the past wanted. The current you were rather indecisive on what sort of path he wants to take. To follow those childish dreams or to ground yourself to reality and pick a profession similar to your family. A doctor, an archeologist or even just a dojo instructor, it was hard to say what fit you.

But those were issues to worry about later. Right now what was going through your head was heading to school. Honestly, the last thing you remember was undergoing the mandated ceremony into Hakoniwa Academy. Something about student council president was the only thing that stood out. Unfortunately, it was just a blur to you much like this weekend. Brushing that aside you quickly finished straightening yourself as you look at yourself in the mirror. Clad in your trademark green hoodie with your dress shirt and tie underneath, black pants, and matching black & gold school blazar, you were looking quite stylish. Placing your Bluetooth headphones to your neck, you make your way to the kitchen to grab some food.

Standing in the kitchen was a young girl no older than twelve years currently finishing up the last of nutritious breakfast you came to expect. Reddish-brown hair with a bow on each side, smooth creamy skin, illuminating greenish-blue eyes, a slender petite figure honed to perfection through martial arts, and form-fitting Chinese clothing to tie her appearance together. Only one person you knew who could be here matched that description perfectly. It was your mother Hitomi Hakumasa, although from first impression she could pass off as your little sister instead.
>>

“O-Oh you're up after all Keichi. And here I thought you were going to end up sleeping through another day” Hitomi exclaimed, a hint of worry, confusion and warm affection all mixed into one. “Course if you did do that, I bet you’d howl in anger for your long-time streak being broken at last. “

“Yeah, yeah mom. I’d be pretty upset about it since for all of my education not once did I miss a school da-” Before you finish ranted something immediately clicks with you. “Wait, what precisely do you mean ‘sleeping through another day

“Yeah, you were knocked out after getting out of school. You managed to sleep your entire weekend away. It was a little concerning, to be honest. But you weren’t riddled with any sickness or anything. So I wasn’t sure if it was over exhaustion from training or something stress-related. ” Hitomi explained in between setting up the table filled with delicious food for the two of you.

“...Is that so?” You muttered, reaching for a bowl of rice and pouring your preferred toppings on it before eating. Well whatever, you weren’t going to ponder why exactly you were essentially a zombie throughout the weekend. Right now you were reaching for full restoration to tackle the day.

For the remainder of your breakfast, you exchanged small talk with your mom in between eating. You kept a rather steady pace to avoid choking on your meal and wasting time clearing your throat. The last thing you wanted was to set off your groove before your daily workout. Just because it was your first day didn’t mean you get to slack off on your duties. Especially since you spent the weekend sleeping on the job. So you needed to make up for lost time by double downing on today’s training.

After finishing breakfast you remembered to give thanks to your mom who smiled in response. With some light-hearted family banter, you said goodbye to your mom as you leave the kitchen. Now well-fed and ready to go you march your way to the outside with school bag in toll. You estimated that you would have more than enough time to work on your daily regiment and get to school before the bell with minutes to spare. However, if you were to put on your special weighted clothing then you feel like you’d be at a much greater risk of running tardy. So naturally, you reframed from going back to the closet next to the front door to grab it.

“Alright, let’s get to work.” You smiled, stretching your arms a bit as you now stood outside your family’s house. Normal people would just have their parents take you to school or catch the bus or have some other form of transportation. Not you. As the only son of the legendary “Undefeated of the East”, it was only natural that through your hard work that you’d make it to school on your own two feet. Anything less would invoke your mother’s lovingly wraith guidance.

Flicking your headphones on to your head, you adjust your music trap to a certain song to get you pumped for the day. Reinvigorated by the catchy tones you begin to perform your daily regiment while brushing off the stiffness of your body. One hundred pushups, one hundred situps, one hundred squats, and a 10 km run, that was your daily regiment for keeping yourself in top condition every day. Compared to your mother’s “training” it was much lighter and purposely made for convenience. Still, it did its work of keeping you in top gear to tackle anything.

In your youth, you were never one to really be suited for stuff like this. At first, even something as your daily regiment was a living hell to keep up. To be frank, you were born with an amazing abnormality but it was a rather stubborn one, to say the least. Sure when you put your mind to it you felt like you can adapt and overcome any obstacle life gave you. But like a flash of lightning, it comes and goes within the moment. Leaving you back to the starting point till the next time you faced an obstacle. Aside from that, you were a relatively normal human if not painfully average originally. A regular joe with no talent whatsoever. Compared to a certain individual, you were fated to be an underdog protagonist at best, supporting extra at worst.

Unlike her which she could achieve the impossible easily, you needed to work your butt off and go beyond to catch up. For you keep the gains you achieved in short bursts, you’d have to keep up with your training without rest if you can avoid it. It was like an actual muscle, repetition made it stronger, stagnation served as its bane. To receive the best outcome you needed to stick with it no matter what. The harder it got, the more you have to persevere and overcome the wall. Of course, it's because of that you knew the true value of hard work and the joys of taking on challenges.

Although at the start you were anything but willing to commit yourself to the craft. In addition to your mother’s training from hell, there were numerous times where you felt like you wanted to quit or take a rest day. However, if you did that then you would’ve never become strong and forever be stuck in the realm of mediocrity. No, you needed to push your mind, body, and spirit to the limit and break it. Regardless of the weather or your body’s condition, you continue to follow this training program for the past ten years to the fullest. All with the intent that it was going to pay off for you.

That said, with your little weekend slumber party you felt a noticeable setback on your schedule. Therefore, to make up for the lost time you pushed yourself to double downing on your morning regiment. Normally if given all the time in the world you can pace yourself and do several sets easily. Unfortunately, you were fighting against the clock and thus needed to push your limits to get it done while keeping your record. To any outsider, it looked like you were fading out of existence with how fast you pushed yourself to complete the second set.
>>
>>3911502

After that did you begin to make your trek through the mountain region and into Hakoniwa City. Dashing forward with all your might, your current speed accelerated as time was clocking down on you. Sprinting faster than a cheetah on the prowl you blitz through the crowd and parkour through any obstacle. Just because you’re a bonafide madman, it didn’t mean that you weren’t polite and considerate of people and their property. That said, you only had fifteen minutes to reach Hakoniwa Academy and make it to the classroom.

Pushing yourself even further you found yourself achieving the impossible. Your current predicament was enough of a challenge for number one to start kicking in. It was at surface level sure, but that was more than enough for you to break through the wall and reach Hakoniwa Academy. On one hand, you could’ve just taken some shortcuts to save for time. But in exchange number one wouldn’t have activated as it wasn’t a suitable enough challenge unlike taking the long way. Either way, you ended up making it to school with a few minutes to spar.

Casually you traveled through the school and reached your homeroom. It didn’t take you long to pick out and reach your destination. Window seat, third row on the left. Dramatically you suddenly collapsed on to your desk like a pack of cards. Limits were broken on this day, especially for one who woke up feeling rather stiff and aching. At the same time, you really shouldn’t have pushed yourself like a madman so early in the day. For better or worse your body was back on schedule much like your perfect attendance.

“Let me guess...you went and try to break your limits again and become Plus Ultra didn’t you?” Said the voice of a cute, young girl, currently looking down at the panting mess that you were currently undergoing. You didn’t even need to turn your head to realize that it was Hansode Shiranui. The only person in this academy that reminded you of your mother. You were still on the fence if that was a good thing or not.

Sitting right beside you was your long-time childhood friend Hansode Shiranui. Since elementary school, the two of you have always been together. Like two peas in a pod, both of you find yourselves comfortable in each other’s presence. It has been ten long years since that fateful encounter that led to the two of you become friends. Yet even now you could remember it on a dime if asked. While you generally have trouble remembering people who don’t leave a strong impression, Hansode was one of the rare few you couldn’t forget no matter what.

On her side, she was surrounded by an assortment of snacks and treats. As the chairman’s granddaughter, it was universally accepted given her “condition”. Still, no matter how many times you saw her eat, you are baffled at how she can keep it all without showing signs of gaining weight. She was a walking black hole in every definition, even the same level of chaos.

”Of course, when I set out to do something I make sure to not go back on my word and do it.” You smiled, leaning against your chair after receiving a bottle of rejuvenating sweet tea from Hansode. Taking a sip from the bottle was bringing you newfound strength. After drinking just a quarter of it was enough to fully revive you. “Who do you think I am?”

“Keichi Hakumasa, the devil’s noble delinquent and proud student of the School of the Undefeated of the East. Self-proclaimed number one who stands at the pinnacle of all. The Ultimate Underdog. Honestly, you can put that on a business card with how dramatically cheezy it is.” Hansode smiled, lifting her finger as it wiggles at every line documenting your status.

Smiling at her childish antics you set the bottle on the table and look her in the sapphire blue eyes. “Sound like I don’t need to ask about you since you’re in a cheerful mood.”

“Why wouldn’t I be? It’s the start of a new semester and I just happen to get myself on the rare treat, the Sakuramochi rice ball. Normally you’d have to wait in line for hours just to have the chance to try and pull one of these bad boys in the cafeteria. “ As Hansode says this, she quickly reaches out in her bag to pull out a large pink sphere that you could only assume was the candy. “And just my luck I happened to pull out a massive haul. This really will be a great school year for me~” Her eyes sparkled like the stars as she starts gobbling them down.
>>
>>3911559

“Your gluttonous passion for food has no equal Hansode. Even I can’t compete with that.” You remarked, chucking a bit at her cuteness.

“Who do you think I am?” Hansode said, turning your catchphrase back at you after finishing the bundle of Sakuramochi rice ball in her cheeks.

“Hansode Shiranui, the no-nonsense princess who can flip the entire world on its back on a whim. Second, only to your insatiable gluttony is your natural talent to bend the laws of the world to your favor. If anyone is more inclined to be the heart of Hakoniwa Academy it's you.” You smiled, keeping a rather cool, composed look as you did the same to your childhood friend.

“As expected of my best friend. Although, I much rather be the mascot than Student Council President. There’s far too much paperwork and responsibilities for my liking. As someone who doesn’t like standing out, it’ll be the worst job for me. Even if there’s no one better at handling information and systems than yours truly.” Hansode said, turning her attention back to your classmates as they begin talking about Medaka Kurokami. Already countless rumors were being spread about the first year becoming student president. While most were harmless, some insinuated that Medaka must have done something nefarious since not even the school staff wants to deal with her eccentric nature.

Looking back at this it wasn’t all that surprising for you. Thus, you went back to focusing your attention on Hansode. “Right, That’s why you voted for Medaka instead. She won with ninety-eight percent of the entire student body’s votes. The highest out there.”

“You don’t soon to concern there Ken-chan. Now that Medaka is President, that means things are going to get more hectic for you. Since I do not doubt in my mind that she’d already recruited you to her student council.” Hansode points out with a hint of smugness.

There it is, Hansode pushed the Medaka button. As someone who declared themselves as number one, you tended to always put your money where your mouth is. Anything you set yourself out to do you achieved the top score. No matter what kind of back-breaking labor or mind taxing stimulation you underwent, you strived to overcome it and win in the end. So imagine someone who could do what you can only achieve through hard work and keen observation at a more efficient rate at a much lesser timeframe? Now multiply that by a hundred and you’ll have Medaka Kurokami. If you were the devil, then Medaka was god.

Thus, if you could be considered the standard underdog protagonist that the west loves immensely. Then Medaka Kurokami can be considered to be the chosen one archetype that fits eastern storytelling to the wire. A person who was blessed by the very heavens themselves to stand at the top of the summit and tower above all. If perfection had a picture it would be Medaka’s charming mug. To you she was anything but cute, especially considering you been stuck with her since childhood. She was your rival, everything that you strived to overcome and beat. There were too many shonen rivalries that best describe the relationship between you and Medaka.

Reflecting deeply on your past, you soon bounce back from Hansode’s egging. ” Whatever. I could care less about what she wants.” You muttered, turning your head towards the window in defiance.

“Wow, that’s pretty cold coming from you. Colder than any Tsundere could muster.” Hansode laughed.

“I’m not even dere for her, I dislike doing things that I don’t want to. And with Medaka it usually comes to end up like that.” You answered, letting out a sigh in annoyance over thinking about your “trauma”.

“I’ll admit that the two of you are like magnets that draw one another regardless of distance can lead to an insufferable if not unhealthy relationship. But clearly, you have to enjoy having such beauty all yourself right?” Hansode asked, tilting her head ever so slightly to look at your grumpy face at the window.

Immediately you turned to face your childhood friend, slamming your hand against the desk. “Okay first off Medaka loves everyone equally, so no it’s not even that. And secondly, look at it from my perspective. When you find out that your father and Medaka’s dad set up an arranged marriage between the two of us before we were even old enough to talk how would you take it? “

“Well if it were me, I’d break them into submission in a way that paints them in a bad light and scare them off while getting off scot-free. But not before eating them out of house and home.” Hansode replied, showing bits of her brutal darkness, something that you to this day don’t feel off-put by.
>>
>>3913824

“I’m someone who doesn’t believe in things like fate or destiny so having my life decided for me without my consent is not something I approve of. “ As you say this, you tilt your head back to the window and went to sulk over all your achievements becoming worthless in comparison to Medaka. “Besides, I have never been keen on living in Medaka’s shadow.”

“Are you saying that cause as a martial artist you always felt down on yourself for never being able to defeat her? Or is it something more akin to how she’s always one step ahead of you when it comes to anything. Either way, she has an unfortunate habit of making you feel like number two. Am I not mistaken?” Hansode said.

“You don’t have to spell it out in a way that makes me look petty.” You argued, causing Hansode to giggle in response.

“Aha, sorry. But it sounds to me if anything you two are fated rivals than lovebirds. Although, the phrase lover’s quarrel also comes to mind.” Hansode teased, you, on the other hand, didn’t want to think of such a relationship.

“Anyway, you’ll still have to give her an answer or else she’ll keep coming after you.” Hansode said, going back to munching on her sweets.

“You already know what I’m going to say.” You replied, closing your eyes as you let out a sigh in mild annoyance. This was starting to get your blood boiling, which was bad since it was way too early in the day for something of this accord.

“Yeah I do, but if you say that then she’ll probably won’t take it very well. You were her first after all.” Hansode remarked.

“She can cry, scream or do whatever, I’m committed to my resolve! I’m not going to be joining the student council!!” You declared strongly, taking the extra incentive to dramatically pose while pointing your finger menacingly. As a martial arts otaku, you have a fondness for the theatrical flares, which goes hand and hand with your hotblooded nature. At the same time, something was amiss.

For instance, Hansode who would normally take the chance to throw some blunt, brutal honesty and witty remark was strangely quiet. She was making her trademark smile to hide her current emotion. Not only that but your instincts were giving you the strong impression that danger was looming around you. A danger that was all too familiar as your mind registers what was setting it off. Only once did you turn your eye to catch the gaze of the reflecting window did you soon realize just exactly what sets it off.

Sitting one row below you was a rather stunning teenage girl, clearly in the same age group as you. From her sparkling lavender hair that’s often mistaken for a shade of blue, her gazing crimson eyes, her smooth peach skin, athletically voluptuous figure, right down to her flamboyant student council uniform, she was just oozing with a presence that held no equal. There was only one person you know that could make your body instinctively react to this exist and not going into fighting mode. Currently, Medaka was mimicking your exact motion like a perfect doppelganger despite not saying a single word.

“Oho, ever the rebellious hothead even now Ken-chan. I thought you were trying to keep your Banchou delinquent background under wraps in this prestigious academy.” Before you had the chance to react, you felt a familiar hand on the top of your head. Exerting enough grip to firmly lock a savage animal into place, your body felt numb under Medaka’s presence. Leaving her to smile warmly at you while holding you back. “So you should try not to be so indiscreet with your outbursts.”

And to think today was shaping up to be like any ordinary day. Nothing like getting kidnapped by your longtime rival to put things into perspective. Here you stood currently under Medaka’s iron grip like the tyrannical savior she is with no way out. On the surface, Medaka looks like your everyday Yamato Nadeshiko but you knew better than that. Despite her cool beauty, she was built like a ferocious beast who shapeshift into an amazon. Her presence attracted those to her given her magnetic personality. But for those who were in touch with their instincts and/or connection with nature knew just how intimidating this alpha predator can be.

That’s not to say you were no different than a simple-minded animal, but you did care the same sharp wit that perceived such dangers. One could say that was merely another reason for you to keep your distance from Medaka. You even went as far as to hide and change your look entirely from your days as the bancho delinquent in middle school. Despite her finding you so easily, you refused to give up just yet. Instead, you started to rattle your brain on how to get yourself out of this situation. Shifting your eyes closely, one idea, in particular, came to mind as you observed Medaka’s body. Time started to slow down immensely for you.

You fool! You can’t just strike at Medaka’s pressure points and put her into a state of unconsciousness before running! If anything her musculoskeletal is probably denser than a regular human. So if I fail to apply enough force it’ll come off as a mere love tap. Only one of two things will happen. Either Medaka will brush it off, thinking something only an airhead like her would get. Sending unfortunate messages that’ll be a drag to deal with. Or….she’ll punch my head through the school out of self-defense. Both choices aren’t something I”d want. Damn it!! Quickly you shake your head as you mentally lecture yourself over being so reckless.

Calm down and think. It’s been a long time since you last saw Medaka. Surely she has been doing a lot of growing up since then and realize her weaknesses when it comes to empathy. All I need to do is explain to her exactly why I don’t want to be involved with her hijinks and like a mature woman will respect my decision. Finally coming up with a game plan you felt newfound resolve overflowing inside of you. Naturally, you started to hype yourself for this confrontation. Pushing the overwhelming fear that being around Medaka does for your heightened senses out from your mind, you shift yourself to directly facing her.

“Medaka! We have known each other since we two years old. So I don’t think I need to explain myself exactly why I have been avoiding you and doing my own thing. But just in case you didn’t perceive the reasoning I’ll explain it clearly to you- “ You barked.

Before you could get started on your rant, you would see yourself no longer in homeroom. In fact, where you are now was a rather spacious office with a massive window in the background. Styled like that of a multi-million dollar company’s board meeting, it stood out as a rather lavish place befitting of Medaka’s flamboyant and over the top personality. As a martial artist, you felt immense shame at how she managed to get passed your honed senses multiple times. More than just that but she was able to sweep you off your feet and deliver you to this destination in the time it took you to come up with a battle plan. As expected of Medaka Kurokami.

“...Medaka…” You muttered, feeling rather annoyed as you felt her hand finally leaving your skull.

“While you were thinking I had already moved us to the student council building. It gives us the perfect place to discuss without the outside party interfering.” Medaka smiled, walking over towards the mirror to look at herself.

Safe to say that your sense of reasoning and logic completely went out the window. In its place came the rebellious strike of the hotblooded bancho coming to get retribution for being made a fool. The time for acting like adults was over. Time to take things to a way only a beast-like Medaka would understand. The fear and doubt was no longer present inside of you. You’re a proud student of the school of the undefeated of the east. Anything you set your mind towards was within the realm of possibility. Your school’s mantra was anything goes. A phrase so simple yet it oozes with boundless creativity and invigoration that martial arts has undergone for over a millennium.

If attacking a defenseless girl with her back was to be considered cowardly then so be it. You were someone who would strike down a child if they truly carried the will of a fighter. Some might see it as barbaric violence but you were far more noble than that. First off it was true equality as superficial stuff like age, gender, race or anything else but the martial spirit matters not for true martial artists like yourself. Secondly, Medaka was no mere teenage girl, that would be insulting the abnormality that was in front of you. Finally...you're pissed off and need to let off some steam.

As you made your fingers towards striking at the neck to trigger a one-hit knockout something soon caught your attention. In a single moment Medaka...was stripping.

Once again the president has managed to flip your world upside down. And to do it so easily like it was as effortless as breathing. Then again, that’s how everything seems to be with Medaka. For someone like yourself who can only accomplish the impossible through hard work and stubborn diligence, to see Medaka not only do it better without any equivalent exchange certainly put your ego to the test. Had you been a lesser person, it would be likely that you would’ve given up a long time ago. As much as you hated it, you were one of the few people who can walk beside Medaka without losing your rebellious spirit. She was your eternal rival after all.

That being said, the strength of your incoming attack certainly did weaken by a noticeable margin. To the outside viewer, it looks like you were moving at full force, no perhaps even going further beyond to break through the hesitation you felt after seeing Medaka in her pink underwear.
Visually it looked like your hand was moving so fast that it was on fire. A blazing crimson heat befitting such a passionate hothead like yourself. However, no matter how hard you try and suppress it, your hormones and sense of pride got in the way of letting out your full power. So the rapid jabs done across Medaka’s body was no different than a relaxing massage of love taps.

To anyone else, however, they would be put into the hospital with just the first blow. But then again you weren’t dealing with just anyone. That’s why you committed yourself to adjust your physical might to accommodate the beast that was Medaka. Even with this handicap in mind, you were confident that your strikes connected. In that window of a split second, you hit all of Medaka’s pressure points that governed her motor skills before striking the point that controlled her brain’s activity to put her into slumber. Unfortunately, that whole striping act made you a second too late as Medaka was seemingly unaffected.

Figures she’s running on Full Access, a sub-skill that gives her nearly perfect body supremacy over her entire body. Capable of near-complete, precise control of the movements and functions of anything relating to her body, it rendered tricks like my Pressure Point talents moot. In exchange, it has to be conscious effort constantly. She doesn’t have the reflexes to use it subconsciously. You gritted your teeth in minor irritation as cheeks were becoming red.

“Thanks, Ken-chan. After working hard transitioning through the paperwork and physical labor to pull off my transition into student president, I was feeling a little worn down. But like always you managed to reinvigorate my body back to prime condition. Just another benefit from knowing the successor to the School of the Undefeated of the East.” Medaka smiled, winding up her arm and doing some stretches as she notices just how nimble and flexible she has become.

“God damn it Med- I mean Madam President! Why you always got to do crap like this! Ever since we were little children you always act before thinking of the consequences! Even though I pride myself on gender equality and treating my adversary with the same expect any martial artists worth their salt strives for. I still can’t tolerate and/or ignore blatant sex appeal like this! Think about my position for once, you damn cheater!” You barked, trying to cover your eyes while opening up bits of your hands to still see Medaka. Your hair sparked up to a more radiant orange out of your burning frustration.

“I don’t know why you’re being so modest Keichi. You saw me in my birthday suit countless times. And I have already seen you naked countless times too. Need I remind you that until the end of six grade we used to bath together.” Medaka smiled smugly, pulling out her fan as she walks over to you.

“Shut up! That’s precisely the problem, you idiot. You’re still thinking of me like that little child that always follows you everywhere. Listen up, when you become an adult, things naturally change. You can’t just be acting like a kid and expect everything to go the same way! For instance, women such as yourself should be more modest with your appearance and treasure it. If you just show your form to the world then it just loses its meaning-” Before you could continue with your angry rant, you soon felt Medaka’s soft fingers pressing against your face. In a comforting way, you soon find yourself unable to speak as she turns around to look at the window. Again your willpower was being put to the test as you keep yourself sane against Medaka’s presence.

“Back in the stone age people usually wore next to nothing and treat it like everyday life. Yet they were still able to shine brightly in the day. To me, exposing myself to the world shows that I have nothing to hide, no concept of deception or shame of sin not unlike Adam and Eve before eating the fruit of knowledge. Besides, you and I know each other since the very beginning. Is there any point for any of us to be embarrassed over something so trivial.” As Medaka explained, you could only find yourself narrowing your eyes. Anger was boiling up inside of you as once again you feel like she was ignoring your complaints.
>>
>>3915941

“Maybe you’re right about it but this is the modern era. No matter how pure of heart or innocent you are, it doesn’t mean it won’t cause problems for those around you exhibitionist and yes I domean both definitions!” You argued, stomping your feet to keep yourself from losing focus and staring at Medaka’s nice body. Despite seeing it so many times it still left quite an impact on you when in reality you’d be bored out of your mind. You were someone who likes challenges and was raised with a traditionalist mindset to a degree. On both accounts, this irritated you as you felt like you didn’t earn this or does it have any special meaning.

“Also what’s with calling me Madam President all of a sudden. Our relationship goes way back, far beyond the need for you to treat me anything else, especially something so old fashion.”Medaka chuckled, sending more mixed feelings as your pride and pure honesty was being put to its breaking points.

“Ugh! I can’t have a proper conversation with you if only one of us is clothed!” After saying that, you quickly took off your clothing in a fit of rage. Not to the point that you’d damage your attire with something comical like flexing, but the speed you took them off made it appear like you phased through them. Leaving you now to stand half-naked as you exposed your well-toned muscular body to the world while wearing flame print boxers.

“See, I knew you can be bold and extravagant when you want to Ken-chan. More importantly, we answered the question boxers or briefs.” Medaka giggled.

“Stop making fun of this! Your lack of shame will one day be the end of you!” You argued, folding your arms in an angry huff.

“But that’s why I have you Ken-chan. No matter what you’ll always be there to bail me out and come to my rescue.” Mekada said, turning on her cute mode for extra oomph.

If it makes you feel any better, Number One is a complex/fickled Abnormality. Outside of it, you're no different than the average joe who committed themselves to the arts like Zenkichi. I just choose to be more honest/straightforward with the "mystery" buildup that OG zenkichi had until it came full circle in the Succession Arc.

Number One makes you a not Equal, something that can't be look at and grouped like the standard specials, abnormals or even minuses. Depending on how things go you can range from the lowest to the highest and vice versa. It's all about fighting spirit/resolve.

Just like that Medaka dropped a sucker punch out of nowhere. To anyone else, no even to a version of yourself who didn’t know any better it would be enough to catch you off guard. As a martial artist, you know first hand what happens when you let yourself become exposed and lose control over the flow. When it came to Medaka, a single sign of weakness was enough for her to turn the tides and changes things to her favor for the remainder of the confrontation. But you were much more experienced to fall to a trick like that. Thirteen years of being around Medaka Kurokami can do a lot of things.

“Madam President…” You muttered, seemingly taken surprised by the act.

Suddenly you raise your arm high into the air, only to then follow up with bringing it down at full force. Just in a single second, you brought forth a mighty swing with your dominant hand. Unlike how you were previously you now carried most if not all of your current physical power in that blow. Probably due to stripping down to your boxers, you didn’t feel as embarrassed as you would be fully clothed. Achieving a sort of “beyond maximum” force your punch slams Medaka deep against the floor’s plating. In an instant you ended up bringing the might School Council president down as blood was pouring out of her head.

Following up on your sudden rebellious attack you slam your foot against the ground and firmly took a rather badass pose. "YOU WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND, I DECLARE TO YOU, MEDAKA, THAT I WILL *NOT* JOIN THE STUDENT COUNCIL, AND I WILL STILL SURPASS YOU!" You yelled, pointing dramatically at Medaka as your hair seemingly blows in the air.

You were a man of many things but one of the things you weren’t was a liar. If you commit yourself to something then by god you were going to try your hardest to follow suit unless otherwise. Without question, you began to go into a long rant about how you didn’t want to join the Student Council and the reasons why you would be a bad fit for it. As well you went on point to telling Medaka the importance of empathy and tact, along with once again trying to get this exhibitionist mindset out of her. Even if she was unconscious you still knew that Medaka could hear you so you continue with your angry rant without hesitation.

Unfortunately, your actions soon draw the attention of an unforeseen bystander as she opens the door. It seems that your punch was loud enough to alert what appears to be a teenage girl, a freshman no different than you or Medaka with very long raven black hair and olive green eyes. She was holding what appears to be a long bag strapped to her back. Aside from that, the only thing strange about her was her bandaged hands. Either way, you didn’t get a good look at her as she makes for a scream before closing the door.

In just a blink of an eye, you ended up in a misconception situation. To you who was once known as the Banchou Delinquent, this was was the kind of underhanded nonsense that people labeled you with. On an outsider’s view, it looked like you violently struck down the president and was planning on having your way with her like a savage animal. There were so many things that were wrong with that it makes your blood boil. Despite your rash behavior, you were far more pure and traditional than one would give yourself credit.

Letting out an annoyed sigh, you decided to ignore it for just a moment. Turning your head back to the supposedly unconscious Medaka. Blood was seemingly pouring from her head, setting for a rather bleak appearance. Had it been a normal person, that one hit knockout punch would’ve been enough to send them into the hospital for a couple of months of recovery. However, you weren’t dealing with an average joe, especially upon closer inspection, you saw that the giant knot on her head was starting to disappear.

“How long are you going to be lying on the floor? I know exactly how strong my punches are. And for someone like you who could have dodged the attack without a second thought, the punch shouldn’t have actually knock you out. “ You remarked, surprisingly knowing enough tropes and cliches to be genre-savvy about the current predicament.

In an awkward fanservice or comedy situation, it is usually the straight man that ends up punishing the main characters for their antics. Usually by pummeling them and knocking them out regardless of actual power level or status. That’s why whenever for a joke or a lighthearted situation you find yourself able to be the one to “smack” some sense into others with perfect timing as the cometic foil. Not that you can’t tell a funny line, though your experience has been mainly reacting to others or getting put into compromising situations because of them. And today was no different as you see Medaka rising from the ground.

“Perfect analysis as usual Ken-chan. I didn’t see any reason to get hit by you, therefore I saw no reason to dodge either.” Medaka remarks, jumping back on foot appearing as if nothing has happened. Seeing her have a confident smile with her fan open didn’t give you any peace of mind. If anything, it made you all the anger as if you were the butt of the joke.

“THAT’S EXACTLY WHY I HIT YOU YOU, IDIOT! Learn some self-preservation Madam President! No matter how tough you are, there are some attacks that you need to dodge regardless of intent or reason. “ Once again you went back into a long ranting session over how changing in the student council room was a bad idea among other things. All while making sure to put on your clothing now that the running gag has been addressed.

“ Ugh, my head hurts.” You said, reflecting on Medaka after finishing your long rant in record time. How can someone so smart loop back to being so stupid? Rubbing your temples you begin to realize the folly of your situation.

“That’ll have to wait. We already got a letter in the suggestion box.”Medaka said, seemingly having already changed back into uniform. You didn’t bat an eye at this as it was just another typical Medaka Morning for you. That said, you soon caught the realization that she said we and not in the royal we pronunciation.

“Huh! I thought I told you that I wasn’t joining the student councils.” You argued.

“It looks to be from the Kendo club. Perfect timing, I can only assume that the girl who came in must have been connected to the current crisis. Let’s go Ken-chan.” Medaka smiles, already beginning to head out.

Just like that, you find yourself being at wit's end. On one hand, if you follow Medaka directly to the Kendo club it gives the impression that you’re doing exactly what she wanted. Once again following into her pace like some sort of lapdog. On the other hand, you still have some personal business to take care of with both Medaka and the mysterious girl. It was starting to turn up into a “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation. Therefore, you make a distinct decision to follow after Medaka. If nothing else, getting rid of a rumor before it spread was far more important than fighting the school president over being drafted.

“Damn it!” You muttered, finishing putting on your blazer over your hoodie before walking out of the room.

Quickly you make your way back to Medaka just in time to listen to her explain the request. It seems that there’s a rowdy group of troublemakers currently taking over the entirety of the Kendo hall. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what exactly the anonymous sender wanted to be done. In Hakoniwa Academy, it prides itself on many aspects as it’s a school made for the very best. One of those factors was its many sports facilities. The kendo hall being one of the oldest and most traditionalists of the clubs that Hakoniwa Academy prides itself over. Unfortunately, as you made your way to the club, you knew first hand that it has seen better days.

In recent years the Kendo club has seen some serious decline inactivity. Because of the lack of members, the Kendo club was ultimately dissolved and abandoned. As an unfortunate side effect, the Kendo hall has become neglected and rundown. In its current state, it was no different than an urban dump or gang site. A perfect spot for a hangout for the school’s troublemakers and delinquents. As a former delinquent yourself, you kind of sympathize with these troublemakers who society deemed as rejects.

But that was a story for another time.

Traveling by foot only took you about at most forty minutes to arrive at your destination. Although, you were mildly confident that had you not needed to take a sudden pit stop then you would’ve made it there in less than ten minutes. What kept you was the fact that Medaka wanted to change clothing. At first, you argued the need to since her school uniform while provocative to you given your “purity” it was enough to fit the job. Ever the fan for the theatrics, Medaka wanted to look the part of a kendo instructor. Of course, you knew better.

In all the time you knew Medaka, you were confident that she only knows the basics when it comes to swordsmanship, especially that of kendo. You, on the other hand, was another story thanks to your doting mother. Deep down you hoped that you didn’t need to demonstrate exactly what thirteen years of countless knowledge and experience can muster. After all, you once gave up dominating those lesser than you and striving to cause conflict to bring forth greater adversities and ordeals for you to overcome.

Standing outside of the Kendo hall, you briefly looked at the wooden door with a sharp gaze. Medaka, on the other hand, held a confident smile, preparing herself for a dramatic entrance. If you were to leave it up to Medaka, there was no doubt that she’ll get the job done despite enforcing her “unreasonable” expectations on to the delinquents. Not everyone held the mental fortitude and unyielding spirit to endure the president’s harsh training regiments. She always did have a habit of overdoing it. Thus, without warning you stopped Medaka from opening the door, causing the lavender haired teenager to blink at you with confusion.

“How about you let me try and talk with them first. No need for an outsider to force their viewpoints on them right off the bat right?” You said, closing your eyes after resigning yourself to helping Medaka with the suggestion. Sure you held your principles, but you still couldn’t help but feel like you needed to help these hopeless losers.

As you open your eyes, Medaka took notice of the serious look in those blue eyes of yours. They were filled with determination and unwavering resolve. Smiling at this, Medaka closes her eyes as she pulls out her fan. “That’s right, you used to be a delinquent back in middle school. You even managed to become the King of Delinquents, the ultimate Banchou. In the past three years, you spent your time conquering countless schools and amassing an army of the baddest people you can find. “

“Don’t patronize me. That’s a time best left forgotten. Whether I be a bunch or just a regular student, trouble always seems to follow me no matter where I go. Since I was four years old I always got into fights and as a byproduct protected those far weaker than me. Think my mom once said that adversity and challenges bring forth character. Or something like that.” You sighed, letting go of Medaka’s other hand before placing yours against the door.

“I just have a knack for being good at problem-solving. Almost like it's my hobby to meddle in people’s affairs.” Upon saying that you pushed the door open to stare at the crowd of delinquents and troublemakers. “Why should today be any different?”

“Who the hell are you?” The leader called, showing his aggression to anyone dumb enough to intrude in his hangout. He was a tall man with spiky blue hair and tan skin. He was someone from Okinawa or was related in some way. Either way, his amber eyes glared deeply at you with great intensity. How long has it been since you felt another delinquent’s wild gaze?

“Me, I’m nobody. Nobody special really. It’s just…” You answered, scratching your head and letting out an unamused sigh. Slowly opening your eyes to meet with the leader, you sent a bone-chilling stare before speaking. “..Why exactly are you causing trouble for those looking to practice kendo?”

“Huh?! What’s that supposed to mean?!” One of the delinquents outback called in retaliation to your statement. They say that those who bark the loudest were ones who were nothing but talk. And judging from the looks of them, it seems your little stunt was causing quite the uproar due to fear.
>>
>>3919647

Well from the look of you I can already tell you’re mainly third-year students. It should be obvious to a monkey that you shouldn’t be making trouble for your underclassmen or underlings. It’ll be bad news if you can’t prove yourself to be someone dependable. Or has your code in delinquency fallen much like this club? “

“You talk quite the big game for a freshman. Don’t be thinking you can rile up my men and talk shit about us and expect to get out of here in one piece.” The leader said, pulling out to be a Bokutou or wooden sword from his back to point at you. Resting just a few millimeters from your nose you find yourself able to see every detail perfectly. Such a refined and well-polished weapon told you that this wasn’t just your average punk.

“Before you try and pummel me with your numbers just answer me this. What exactly is Kendo to you? “

“Wha?”The delinquent crowded asked, rather confused about your final question.

"Stupid! As if anyone comes here to practice Kendo. That's why we here you idiot." The boss taunted at you, causing the others to laugh at your face.

"Alright, then I'll rephrase my question then. What exactly is Kendo to you?" You asked.

“What kind of stupid question is that? Kendo doesn’t have any real interest with us. We just like holding these swords. Not like we’re any good for anything else since we’re just average dropouts.” The leader remarked, almost laughing at your words as you stare at him deeply. Seeing your unwavering look was rather off-putting to him the more you focused on him.

“No mere delinquent would put that much care into maintaining their weapon. There’s no point since it’ll get destroyed in a street brawl. The fact your ebony finish is so thorough it feels like I need to wear sunglasses from all that shine. So I know there’s some serious passion here. Even someone like me can already tell that despite your ridges, there’s true value in all of you. Especially when it comes to kendo. You’re just too stubborn to admit or too scared to want to leave your little safe space and challenge the world.” You taunted, riling up the crowd even more as your words begin to stir the pot.

“So I’ll ask again, just what exactly does kendo mean to you?” You said, intimidating them once knowing exactly how to handle people like this first hand. Seeing how bold and cheeky you can be with a smile on your face was enough to set off the entire delinquent squad.
>>
>>3919651

“Surround him right now! Make sure he can’t escape!” As the boss commanded, the entirety of the delinquent squad. A soft feeling a deja vu start to wrap itself around you as you briefly think back to the cool, spring afternoon of being surrounded by countless thugs on your way home by the riverbank.

“If Mr smartass wants to see what Kendo means to us. Then why don’t we show him right here and now?” The boss declared, igniting his fellow dropouts to stand together holding their wooden swords and getting ready for a brawl.

Not that you weren't surprised by this since men, especially those of delinquents speak better with their fists.

From an outside perspective, things were looking pretty dire for you. Surrounded by students who were older and seemingly strong on their own turf was quite the ordeal. As if that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. From the moment you walked you were taught diligently about every form of martial arts possible. Throughout your life carries the secrets of the proud, noble school of the undefeated of the east. Combined with the blood, sweat, and tears you underwent through the obstacles that stood against you, you were a true veterian in freshman’s clothing.

In a blink of an eye you proceed with moving towards the thug at the far right with the bleached pink hair. It was a simple advance step and retreat step in combination with each other. Sliding your feet through rubbing the floor in a shuffle was the basic foundation for the footwork needed in Kendo. For you who have been drilled proper swordsmanship knows how to truly maximize your footwork with no wasted movement or noteworthy resistance. So when you applied the basic steps, it looks like the act of teleportation to the untrained eye. Of course if you put more effort into your steps, you could theoretically pull off tricking these delinquents into thinking there was an army of you through afterimages.

But that would just be overkill, the very kind that Medaka herself would be prone to do without hesitation. You, on the other hand purposely lowered your talents but not enough that they don’t have anything to aspire towards. Before anyone had any sort of idea what happened, you were already behind the pink haired masked delinquent, holding what appears to be an african blackwood crafted wooden sword. Everyone was speechless by both the disappearing act and you stealing one of the wooden swords without being sensed and/or felt.

Mutoudori or Unarmed disarm a master level technique taught by skilled swordsmen and/or martial artists to take away their enemy’s weapon and spirit. As a martial artist, you went through additional repetition to be able to catch weapons with just your bare knuckles and toes. Depending on your mood, a single pressurized clench was enough to break said weapons. They didn’t call you the Devil Banchou for nothing.

“H-Hey! Give that ba-” Before the pink haired punk could speak, you had already disappeared from sight. Desperately the entire delinquent clubs scattered around to try and find your presence but it was useless. For you had already made it back to the center of the room without anyone noticing. Already you got a firm understanding that everyone here so far were amateurs.

“Nope, sorry. But I need this to properly teach you how to wield a sword and perform proper kendo. Otherwise, you won’t be able to take it seriously with your half-assed kendo.” Once again you knew just the right words needed to provoke the delinquents into attacking you.
>>
>>3919835

Slowly a smile starts to form on your lips as you got into position. “Well I’ll give you this, you’re not the type to run away with your tails between your legs.”

For the next hour, you find yourself sparing with all of the delinquents in the Kendo Club. Well, actually you feel more inclined to call it a slaughter considering how big the gap is between them and yourself. Between your fancy footwork and impressive parrying skills, not a single one of the delinquents were able to touch you. Even with their superior numbers, the remaining two percent who didn’t vote for Medaka but their leader Moji couldn’t compete with you. Honestly, you felt like you should tie your limbs together and wield the sword with your mouth to make it more of a challenge. But you weren’t looking for a challenge, you were here to train and so you did.

Through the entire encounter, you began giving them pointers on how to improve. From working on posters, refining their footwork, handling their swords, to teaching the power sword techniques and defensive maneuvers in Kendo. There wasn’t a single thing you left out during this “demonstration”. Now you didn’t think they would get it right in a single day, they were just average people after all. That said,

The more you got into training the delinquents, the more you ended up showing off. Starting with moving at such speeds that you began to create afterimages to speed things up. Quickly you made the delinquents who felt like they cornered you realize that it was them who was cornered all along. But that was only the beginning. Taking a single stance you begin to focus your combat spirit around you. An intense aura starts to circulate you at rapid speeds. Even the amateur delinquents found themselves somehow able to perceive your killer intent, though you like calling it your radiant resolve resonating with your willpower.

Either way, it starts to make the ground shake violently and the air crackle deeply from the vivid yet wild dancing of your aura. Focusing your eyes on a single target, they begin to give a rather ominous glow. Not a single soul who bared witness to this overwhelming display of might could find the strength to speak, must less move. Fear was paralyzing them as it was a miracle that they still know how to breathe. You, on the other hand, took a rather wicked appearance, at least your aura did. It was resembling that of a horned masked demon clad in a fur coat holding a jagged nodachi blade. Befitting for one who was called the devil.

A single step quickly echoes across the deafening silence that was currently emulating in the kendo hall. That was just you getting ready as it was finally time to swing. “Getsuga….” You muttered, arching yourself back to take the proper swing. It was one-handed but it gave the impression that it carried far more power than it led on. “...Tenshou!”
>>
>>3919876

In just a flash you delivered a powerful arc swing which in turn morphed into an omnidirectional flash. The immense air pressure and kinetic force produced a powerful shockwave that rips and tears through the entirety of the kendo hall. No, it didn’t just stop there, the force of the updraft went higher as it shoots up high into the sky. The tremendous force it generated clashed violently with the sky, creating a strong rift above. Growing violently the rift starts to split the sky in half, pushing everything including the clouds on opposite sides. However, this was just the effect of your warrior’s spirit deceiving them with the fabrication of the heaven splitting strike.

“..Just kidding~” You smiled, breaking your warrior spirit to let the delinquents come out of being swept by your imagination. “As if I could make an attack that strong. Worst yet, that’ll just be a nightmare in repairs and cause more trouble.”

As you ranted over yourself about the ramifications of going all out like your imagination, you begin to take notice that nobody was commenting over the spectacle. Unfortunately, your impression was so strong that not a single one didn’t pass out from fright over the image implanted into them. Leaving you to scratch your head in disappointment, mainly towards yourself. You were no different than Medaka when you got down to it. Almost like two peas in a pod.

“Damn it...I overdid it just like Medaka would! Ugh, I really shouldn’t have come after all.” You sighed.

Clearly you guys are really commited to being not Ichigo of this story. For better or worse, your notority is going to skyrocket after getting that 20, seems the delinquent life is hard to escape from.
>>
>>3921036

Filled with fuming agitation you took a moment to calm yourself and get a grip. Just because you demolished the delinquents in a show of dominance doesn’t mean you should lose your head over it. Even so, judging from your handy work you could have eased up on these troublemakers. It wasn’t like in middle school where you often went wild and beat up opposing delinquents into submissions. Those days were long since behind you and this was supposed to be a fresh start. Try as you may however, it seems that part of you is stubbornly etched into your very being.

Looking at the current state of the Kendo Hall drives the image of a junkyard deep into your retinas. At first, you considered cleaning the dojo as a form of apology for the over the top demonstration. However, the more you thought about doing it the more you begin having second thoughts about it. As nice as a gesture it would be, it wouldn’t fix the problem at hand. No, these delinquents needed someone to straighten them out and lead them down the path of discipline and diligence. Otherwise, they’ll just fall back into compliance towards mediocrity and you will not accept that kind of fate.

Of course, before you do anything else you took a moment to finally responding to the presence you were feeling this entire time. “How long have you been watching?” You asked, keeping your back turned to the individual.

“Long enough to see the Banchou King at work yet again. It makes me feel almost nostalgic back to our middle school days.” Medaka smiled, walking inside the dojo before looking around at its current state.

“Uniform modifications, hair dye, and accessories, truly a veritable parade of rule breakers. Not that I can talk since I’m not exactly following the rules myself.” Medaka said, staring at delinquents one by one and noticing all of their violations. “Really now. They made quite a fine mess of the place too. Seeing one of the great faculties to this extent, I almost feel impressed.”

“Yeah, but even if you were how long would it be before the exhibitionist side of yours come knocking by and flamboyantly rejecting the traditional school uniform?” You replied, finally turning to meet Medaka eye to eye as you saw her swiftly checking through each of the delinquent’s article of clothing.

“Haha, that’s certainly true.” Medaka smiled, having finished up inspecting the last delinquent. In her right hand was a fan carrying a large stack of what appears to be cigarette boxes. You naturally weren’t surprised by the reveal or how quickly Medaka managed to pilfer them. “Still, I don’t think I can let them slide getting away with things like cigarettes. Now that’ll cause all sorts of health problems for them in the long run. Breathing is important to any form of physical activity, especially that of the martial arts.“
>>
>>3921313

“Well, you’re not exactly wrong about that, especially Qigong breathing. You need strong lungs to handle such old practices. I could already tell that they were lacking through the rhythm of their breathing.“ You muttered, putting the black sword into its proper case.

“So aside from watching me relapse and reliving my middle school days, have you seen that mysterious girl that walked in on us.” You asked, all the while making sure not to go into detail about that scenario. Regardless of being used to it, it didn’t change how much it bugged you to be in those scenarios. The last thing you wanted in life was to be a human protagonist.

“Good of you to bring that up. Just moments ago she was watching the dojo from one of the outside windows. She and I managed to talk things over about what precisely happened in the student council room.” Medaka smiles, pulling out a fan and giving a look of reassurance. Unfortunately, it made you all the more concerned considering who was standing in front of you.

“Right, I’m going to not ask any further. Instead, I’ll just ask the million-dollar question. Why exactly do you want me to be on your student council?” You asked.

“Because you’re an honest and capable man Ken-chan. Seeing you putting your all into demonstrating and helping those delinquents reaffirmed my decision and desire to have you be on the student council.” Medaka said, again giving a reassuring smile to you. It was something so obvious but it didn’t exactly give you any confidence over it being necessary.

“Yeah but why? Surely someone of your talent and competency can manage all the roles yourself. Or even find people more than willing to join your student council. I’m a former delinquent with a knack for getting into trouble whether I want to or not. You don’t need someone like that to ruin your image.” You asked, showing serious skepticism over being needed by Medaka of all people.

“Really Keichi, is that what you see yourself as? A hindrance to my mission? That’s pretty self-defeatist considering how far our history.” Medaka teased, jabbing you on the side as you hold back the urge to explode like a firecracker.

“Shut up! Just answer my question already.” You retort, causing Medaka to laugh in response.
>>
>>3922649

“While it is true that I can fill all the positions by myself much like my predecessor. Truth be told, I don’t carry the same down to earth wholesomeness that lets you connect with people. My very presence puts me on a higher pedestal than most, which has me at times look down at others despite always seeing the good in them and striving to push them to reach their full potential. It's my personality that appeals to people and charm them over to my side. But compared to you, it isn’t true empathy and camaraderie. If being honest, my actions and beliefs are pure and genuine, it can still be compared with that of a tyrant.” Hearing Medaka calls herself a tyrant certainly left you mildly bewildered. While she wasn’t wrong, you never expect to hear Medaka to be so open with her faults. Then again, that’s just the kind of person she was as she always exposes herself to the world with no shame whatsoever.

Thinking deeply at Medaka’s words, you shift your eyes to look at the sky through the window. A serious expression could be seen on your face with great intensity. “An all-powerful monarch who always standing atop of everyone else, overwhelming them with their presence but counterbalancing it with an open-minded way of living. I can’t exactly disagree with that statement, nor tell you that your domineering personality is completely wrong. Heck, I wanted to lecture you about how you tend to overdo things and put people on a higher expectation based solely on your viewpoints towards yourself. But here I am going overboard myself. Average people need moderation, they can’t handle such unreasonable demands on the first go. The ego of a person is often fragile and fickle. The world doesn’t operate one equivalent exchange So when seeing their hard work and effort not pay, they’re more inclined to fall into depression then just try harder. You need to be more delicate.”

As you went deep into explaining, Medaka could only just watch you with a smile. The way you talk from personal experience gave for a compelling experience. A sense of warmth and care not like that of a protective older brother or senior to their underclassmen. Though in your case you looked more like the dotting boss looking out for his underlings. Of which you did establish the necessary skills to be a good, dependable leader during your three-year conquest. But Medaka could see something more to it than that. As a result, she couldn’t help herself from laughing, triggering you into an angry fit-out of thinking she wasn’t taking it seriously.
>>
>>3922715

“See Keichi, that’s exactly why I like you. Out of everyone I have ever met, you’re the only one impenitent enough to always stick to your decisions and not once back down from them. Always earnest and honest, you put your very being into the task and don’t accept anything less than giving your all. At the same time, you’re kind and considerate. You look deep into a person’s character and push yourself to find the best method to help them without patronizing them or appearing condescending unless necessary to rile them up. Even when you say things like it being troublesome or showing irritation over the matter, you still commit yourself to helping regardless of any stakes or rewards. Even someone like me who is considered the perfect human being can’t escape from your worrisome watch. “ Medaka reflected, looking to the side as her hair started to waver through the air as if the wind was blowing. You were caught off guard by just how beautiful and mature she could be.

“If I were to put it to a single phrase, it’d be that you’re the ultimate sore-loser.” Medaka points out with a silly smile, breaking the serious mood of the room. Once again, you felt insulted by her insinuation, even if she wasn’t completely wrong.

“Just who exactly is a sore loser?!” You barked, practically dramatically stomping to the floor.

Medaka only laughed it off, brushing your hotheaded stubbornness to get back to her point. “And as a sore loser...you never abandoned anything. For you, that’s the same as admitting defeat or giving up and that’s the one thing you hate more than anything. When we were kids you used to say lines like I absolutely won’t give up. When I lose is when I die! Until I, myself accepted that I lost, then I haven’t lost!

“I wish you would stop remembering those kinds of things about me. I was a dumb kid back then. A kid whose head was stuck in the clouds and always rising to tackle the next challenge the world brought upon me.” You said, turning back out of mild embarrassment but quickly replacing it with a more somber and realistic mindset.

“Yes, it’s certainly something a hotblooded child would say. But it's that unyielding spirit that allowed you to stand beside me despite all this time. It’s that same spirit that helped motivate me and give me a purpose when I originally had nothing. That’s why, whenever I am with you...I always feel like I’ll never become astray or lose myself no matter what. Therefore, I can focus my all into helping people without worry. “
>>
>>3922727

“..I’m not the same person who used to follow you wherever you go. I...changed, I’m grown up now.” You answered, feeling a growing pit of anguish t and uncertainty as you clinched your chest. You weren’t sure why was that as an important moment in middle school is currently missing in your memories. But your body remembers the tremendous amount of despair you felt that day and what ultimately lead to your retirement.

“Keichi. I know you better than anyone else just like how you know me better than anyone else. So that’s why...“ Before she could finish, Medaka would take the next incentive to kneel and bow to you. Again this was quite the shocking predicament as you didn’t expect someone like Medaka to do such a thing without hesitation. But it just goes to show how serious she was about this request. “...I once again request your strength and ask of you to join my student council.”

“Jeez, when you say sappy stuff like that before bowing to me.….it makes it hard to turn you down. “ You muttered, scratching the side of your nose in embarrassment. You were adamant about not joining Medaka’s student council. But how could you call yourself a man by turning down a maiden’s request? Still, you close your eyes before putting up a tough face to hide the dere part of yourself leaking out. “Alright fine. I’ll join your student council, but only part-time.”

“Thank you Keichi. Though, I’m a bit confused by why you said you’d only be making it part-time.” Medaka smiled, blinking slightly before resuming her friendly demeanor.

“Yes, Part-time. I got responsibilities that I need to fulfill, and I can’t exactly leave these guys behind. No matter how hard I try, I always end up right back into having people to look after. Delinquent Bancho or not. “ You shift your eyes to the Delinquents as they started to slowly come out of being unconscious. A small smile formed on your lips as you turned to look back at Medaka. “I can tell first hand that despite their tough-guy act, they’re serious about learning kendo. I’m not going to ask for their life story or reasoning. Don’t need none of that to commit myself to helping them break out of this slump and become fine kendo masters.”

“Still, if you ever need my help, I’ll gladly come knocking to your call as one of your student body representatives.” You said, offering your hand to Medaka. Without hesitation she ends up hugging you tightly, catching you ever slightly off guard. You reframed from spazzing out on Medaka and just silently embrace the hug for as long as she wanted. Still, it was rather hard keeping a straight face when you felt a familiar sensation rubbing against you.

“Anyway, it seems like with your watchful eye, then I don’t need to worry about the kendo club. But that’s not going to stop me from coming over to check up on you on their progress. They still need to be reformed into fine swordsmen who can do one thousand basic sword swings without breaking a sweat.” Medaka said, showing off more of her intimidating brilliance. You were used to the unreasonable chaos but if the delinquents heard you they’d passed out from fright.

“One thousand swings?! No, no. That’s too much to expect from them in one sitting. I’d like to ease them into it by making them do at least five hundred swings between each drilling session. This is supposed to be a daily activity and if I push them too hard, they won’t be able to accumulate the teachings, much less undergo the necessary steps for improvement.” You argued, once again getting into a bit of a rant over moderation, of which Medaka only laughed as she tries discussing her ideas with you.
>>
>>3923021

Once the delinquents finally came out of their little nap you were met with quite the surprise. Instead of being hated and receiving their resentment, they started to follow you without question. The delinquents even went as far as to call you boss, much to your annoyance. Seeing them recall your past as the Banchou Devil of the west brought more unnecessary baggage than you wanted now that your cover was blown. Even so, you couldn’t help but feel a little giddy about it as it brought a sense of familiarity towards you.

Either way, you spent the remainder of the day cleaning up the dojo with your underlings and Medaka. If it was just the two of you it would’ve taken no less than thirty minutes at top gear. Doing so, however, wouldn’t set these guys straight and only invoke them to be lazy in the future. Having them clean up with the two of you was a good way to teach diligence and discipline. That was something your mother taught thoroughly among many things during your studies. So it was oddly fitting that you were able to find a use for it with moments like this.

After a day filled with cleaning and more training, you soon find yourself back at the student council room. Almost immediately you were given a brand new uniform based on the student council uniform. Unlike the regular students who wear white and blue school outfits, the student council’s were black with gold trims. For you specifically, Medaka had the outfit tailored to your tastes as a martial artist and delinquent. It even has its hoodie attached for your personal need. Anyone else would’ve earned some serious questions over the level of preparation and foresight, but this was Medaka.

Brushing it off you took one final moment to look at yourself in the mirror. Not surprisingly, you looked rather dashing in black although you preferred white clothing, a part of the reason why you transferred to the academy. Putting that aside, you notice the wristband on your arm as you then read the description. “Wait. This is the general affairs, management band.”
>>
>>3923046

“Is there a problem?” Medaka asked, having previously stepped out to let you change in peace before was approved to come back in.

“Well, no. But I figured with how much you talked about needing me, you’d promote me to something like Vice President or something.” You replied, showing signs of confusion, not particularly disappointed since you didn’t want to be behind Medaka’s shadow.

“Heh, well that would be only if you completely devote yourself to the task. General Affairs management is the most flexible since it mainly requires you being a people’s person. Having you going around checking the clubs and working with people among other General Affairs duties is the perfect fit for someone of your nature.” Medaka said, giving her best speech to reassure you of just how important your role was. Essentially, you were Medaka’s vanguard, the one who looks over the suggestion box and the most direct when it comes to cooperating with the students and their problems. In some ways, you were no different than an enforcer but with much more friendly than those hardass cops.

“I suppose your right. But that already sounds like “ “Well whatever. If I happen to learn anything during my scouting of these clubs, I’ll naturally incorporate it into my style. “ You brushed your face in a cocky smile, turning to meet Medaka.

After seeing each other off, you casually walked out of the school building and onto the campus grounds. With how the day has been it should’ve been on your mind to return home and sleep. Anytime you got involved in one of Medaka’s hijinks, it tended to tire you out both physically and mentally. Today wasn’t any different as you let out a sigh. Thinking back on it there was something still egging your peace of mind. That mysterious purple-haired girl, the one you couldn’t get your mind off on. Sure Medaka said she talked things through but this was Medaka. It was best to sort this out yourself.

Shuffling through your right pocket, you manage to easily pullout a flame print smartphone. It was the latest model for convenience, but on the downside, you had to be extra careful not to have your seven hundred dollar phone get smashed. Scrolling down on your phone you quickly breeze through the many names on your account. For better or worse you were quite popular both in and outside of school. Even as a delinquent you carried some sort of magnetic charm that drew people to want to support and hang out with you. Most of the time you had to deal with first impressions given your hotblooded personality and punkish mug.

Right as you reflect upon this your thumb instinctively stopped on Hansode’s number. Seeing the number you easily dial it before pressing it to your ear. Ringing constantly for a bit, it didn’t take anything less than a couple of seconds before you were connected.

“Yo, Hansode.” You replied casually, keeping that same upbeat personality that Hansode knows.

“Hey, Keichi. If you’re looking for me to accompany you home I’m sorry to say but I already left. “ She answered, once again showing playful yet blunt honesty in her tone.

“Yeah, I didn’t expect you to be around school considering how late it is. I just wanted to check up on you and tell you what happened after being abducted by Medaka.” You said, brushing it off with no concern whatsoever. Walking home with Hansode was a frequent practice but not always an everyday thing.

“Aww how sweet, but I already know about your scuffle with the delinquents. The whole school does.”Just like that Hansode started dropping some concerning truth bombs. In all your time with Hansode you knew that she could get information from just about anything. Where she says she gets it has never been a concern for you, much to Hansode’s approval. So you knew for a fact that this was the real deal.

“Let’s put a pin on that for later. Right now I’d much rather ask if you saw a mysterious girl with purple hair carrying a purple long bag.”

“Oh you mean Namida Nīmaiyā, fifteen-year-old transfer student from Suisou Academy, O positive, ambidextrous. Oh and her BWH is-” Before Hansode could answer you cut her off immediately as your sense of pride told you to not be a total scumbag.
>>
>>3927096

“Stop! Don’t tell me something like that. Anyway, since you got information on her I just want to know her address or where she hangs out so I can talk to her. One on one.” You explained.

“If you’re looking for that sure I can tell you. Why? Is it to confess your feelings or fix a misconception. If you’re not careful our school princess Medaka will get jealous.” Hansode tease.

>Reaffirm your relationship with Medaka and gather more information on Namida

“Shut it. “ You barked, not willing to dignify any implications that Hansode was pointing out. “Besides, if she complains I’ll take back my offer to only join part-time in the student council.”

Hansode could only laugh loudly at the news.“See Keichi, I knew that you would be apart of her student council one way or another. The Princess is very hard to turn down, almost like a spoiled brat she strives to have things happen her way. Of course, it's nothing new to you since you’re always dragged along in her endeavors. “

You refrained from saying anything else. Not because of being upset with Hansode pointing out how you’re no different than a watchdog for Medaka. As if something like that would be enough to damage your ego. No, what has grasped your attention was the odd vibe in the air. Being a former banchou, you were surrounded by adversity and animosity from countless people. Because of that environment, it helped hone your natural talents in perceiving a person’s aura and keep your senses sharp.

Given whoever was giving an ominous vibe wasn’t particularly skilled at hiding their presence. That or training with actual professionals and being involved in more street fights than one can count made you more perceptive in picking these faults out. Either way, you too a glance from your phone to get a good look at the stalker. It was a male student, a first-year much like yourself with short dark green hair and pale white skin. Despite wearing glasses his facial expressions look like that of a snake, complete with his slinted eyes.

Going by memory you recall him being Hyuuga Habataki, one of your homeroom classmates. From what you know so far he’s a rather polite and well-informed individual. The kind of bookworm you’d see in stories who serve as Mr. Exposition or Mr. Dependable Class Rep. But from the appearance of the window you glanced at, he was moving closer with a rather sinister face. In his hand appears to be a wooden sword, held firmly in a style that shows he wasn’t just an amateur.

Amateur or not, it didn’t change the fact that you couldn’t exactly register him as a threat worth bothering. For all, you know he could be one of your fans, someone looking to get revenge from your middle school days, or one of those people that seek out strong opponents to fight to feed their ego. Either way, you chose to keep your power level in check and continue appearing as if you were off your guard. Whether or not he was someone worth your full attention, you were set on finding out by setting up a little game.

“Hey, Hansode. Remember that subject that I had pinned to focus on other things. Yeah, I want to unpin that and address just what exactly has been spreading down the halls.” You replied, mentally getting yourself ready as you felt Hyuuga getting closer. By the time he was in range for an attack, your body was already to respond in an instant.

“Well, it’s simple Keichi. Your attempts at starting fresh in this new school is over. While nobody has put together that your legendary delinquent banchou Hakuma, that doesn’t stop them from labeling you as a crazed berserker. That’s already a hard image to shake off. But at the rate it’s going, it’ll lead to someone figuring out your true identity sooner or later.” Hansode said, cheerfully pointing that your attempts at being looked at as normal have been dashed in the wind. At least the possible rumor of you being a sexual deviant is next to impossible now.

“Is that so? Well, I did promise my mother that I’d try to keep a low profile. But I guess that’s not happening this time. Oh well. I think I’d rather take to people calling me a crazed berserker over being labeled as a perverted delinquent.” You shrugged with a sigh, all while seemingly turning unusually.

As you were having your conversation with Hansode, your body was already moving in response to the aura that Hyuuga was giving off. Timing your movements to the rhythm of his sword strokes, your body easily manages to avoid them. Heck, it wasn’t just avoiding them, but doing so in a way that it appears that it was only at a hair’s breadth. You didn’t want to give the impression that you were on to Hyuuga’s killer intent. And yet you couldn’t help but to continue this farce of humiliation to gauge his skill level.
>>
>>3929934

Upon closer inspection, you felt the presence of someone carrying noteworthy skill and experience. Almost like you were fighting with a genuine article, someone who clearly made it up to the nationals. You almost felt bad for Hyuuga considering that he was skilled with the sword but never actually been in a true battle, much less a street brawl. Otherwise, you’d find yourself having to at least turn to face Hyuuga if you wanted any chance of dodging while still in mid-conversation

“Did you say something?” Hansode asked, picking up some strange static in the background.

“Nah don’t worry about it. Anyway, I’d still like it if all of this blows over and be forgotten. It would suck big time getting attacked by people so early in the year. I’d like to at least get through this corner without any petty wannabes with dull skills trying to take me down.” Although you continued playing the fool, it didn’t stop you from subtly laying out some zingers to ruffle up Hyuuga’s skin. Judging from his rising aura, it seems like you succeeded in pissing him off.

>Keep up dodging Hyuuga’s attacks until he tires himself while talking to Hansode

“...Petty wannabe. Don’t give me that crap.” Hyuuga growled, gripping his sword tightly in anger over your antics. He wasn’t trying his hardest to hit you, but the fact that you could have a conversation while not noticing him starts to really irritate the once cool and composed freshman. “That’s my line!”

With his grip tightened and footing firm, Hyuuga swings in a verticle arc with greater speeds than he was previously given all while remaining his one-handed swordsmanship. Had you not picked up on his growing aggression towards you, it probably would have been suitable enough to strike you down and catch you off guard. He would’ve finally been at the stage where this can be considered as a successful sneak attack against you. Still, even while knowing that it was coming, you couldn’t afford any slip-ups in retaliation.

In a blink of an eye, you dropped down, still holding your phone as you were on your knees. Avoiding the sword arc rather easily, you briefly turned your eyes to notice that Hyuuga wasn’t losing any momentum. In fact, he was transitioning into a flurry of sword swings much like a dance. Each one of his swings would be faster than the last. That is had you not timed your escape accordingly by squatting like a frog. Quickly you jumped above the frantic Hyuuga, making him fall victim to your afterimage, Without making a single sound you landed softly behind Hyuuga.

Sure, you could’ve achieved the same result by dashing to either side or even running up the wall before jumping instead of your aerial backflip. Yet for some reason, you just felt the need to really flex your acrobatics since its been a while. Regardless, you watched Hyuuga continue his onslaught on the after image, laughing viciously like a wild hyena at his supposed victory. That is until you decided to tap on his shoulder. Slowly he creeps over, having a gleeful face as it soon turned into dread at what he was seeing.

“Yo, Hyuuga wasn’t it? Mind tell me what you were doing just swinging at thin air?” You smiled rather coly at your attacker. Shifting to putting your hands in your pocket, you left a rather imposing image on Hyuuga as he jumps back in order to put some space between you before pointing his sword at you.

“ Before I answer that...tell me what exactly are you doing here? What kind of student council member cultivates weeds, especially worthless weeds like those delinquents? The letter asked you to get rid of those spineless cowards.” Hyuuga said, reverting back to his disguise in order to save face. In his mind, he was rattling his brain as to how you could avoid all of his attacks and take on his more serious strike so easily. All he could think of was that it was just a fluke.

“Ah, so you’re the one who wrote that request. Well if I were to recall, the letter asked of us to find some way to get rid of the problem. Not that it specifically required us to get rid of them in the way that you wanted. If you wanted something like that, then you should’ve asked the enforcers.”

“Don’t you try and use semantics or clever wording to get out of this you damned devil!” Hyuuga argued, slapping the wooden sword hard on the ground with a loud crack. You merely kept quiet and gave a serious stare as he puts the sword back on his shoulder.

“I’m a student who takes kendo very seriously. Far more than those worthless pieces of trash who only got into it because of superficial reasons like its cool or we get to play with swords. What childish dribble!” He explained, pushing his glasses to his face to impose his own aura against you as he wasn’t backing out of this intimidation game just yet. “I’m Hyuuga Habataki, a national champion of last year’s kendo competition. I’m a rising big shot that’s aiming to become the very best. But I have a habit of not listening to my coach’s orders and I really hate teamwork. Despite my tendencies ended me getting into fights with my senpais and coaches, they all feared and renowned my skills.”

“Of course I only saw them as weighing me down and keeping me from my true potential. That’s why I came to this school. Not only does it has an enriching history of kendo and swordsmanship but it doesn’t have an active kendo club. So I can learn at my own pace without having to deal with others. A paradise made just for me.” Hyuuga smiled. Although clearly demented and twisted, it was a genuine smile showing that he was, in fact, serious about kendo.

“So that’s why you wanted us to get rid of them. So you have the place all to yourself with nobody to bother your precious training?” You questioned,
>>
>>3930848

“Exactly. So when I see delinquents pretending to be something that they’re not and change their colors, I can’t help but feel agitated. Almost like its a direct attack on me. But….what do I expect from a former delinquent to get soft when dealing with one of their own.” As Hyuuga said those words, your eyebrow twitches at the comment. You weren’t sure which angered you more, the fact he labeled you as someone abusing their power for garbage or that he viewed delinquents in general as garbage, yourself included.

“...Hyuuga Hatabuki…” You muttered, gripping your right hand in anger.

“Heh, do you know what a 3rd rank dan in kendo means ?” Hyuuga asked, getting ready to make his next attack. With a single sprint, he jumps forward with both hands on his sword in preparation for a strong downward strike. “It means that I’m three times stronger than you!!”

>Unfortunately for you, in terms of Dan I’m sixth rank, therefore, I’m three times stronger than you [Break Hyuuga’s spirit through Banchou intimidation]

“Really is that so?” You muttered, not turning your attention to him as he strikes you down with all his might. Thus, you made his humiliation that much more apparent with your next move. Moving at speeds that he couldn’t completely follow, you gently grasp his wooden sword in between your knuckles. In a dramatic fashion after a loud crash, Hyuuga soon sees his sword and the force of his attack completely neutralized by your skills and advance technique.

“Unfortunately for you, in terms of Dan I’m the sixth rank, therefore, I’m three times stronger than you.” You coldly reply, looking at the frozen look on Hyuuga’s face. Although, if you were honest, you only got that dan thanks to your mother’s connections allowing you to take the test without having to follow traditional rules thanks to her “training” being overqualified.

Upon finishing saying those words, you immediately broke Hyuuga’s wooding sword through just two of your finger knuckles. Another advance sword technique, though unlike the unarmed disarm, the Hadachi or sword serving was a move not taught in modern kendo. After all, such a move would normally get you disqualified in kendo. But in terms of something like a street brawl, it was an effective way of breaking weapons and disarming opponents. With your current skills, you were confident you can break through steel swords and bend steel pipes easily.

Hyuuga, on the other hand, was frozen stiff by your terrifying display of swordsmanship and brute force. In an instant, you managed to disarm him and break his weapon so easily. It was as if he was witnessing the difference between himself and you like that of the heavens and the earth. Coupled with your overwhelming presence now unshackled for him to sense, his world started to shatter. His will to fight quickly dissipating as the only thing he was left to do was fear for his life. He couldn’t even utter the strength to call you what you really are….the white devil.
>>
>>3931026

“Reflect upon victory, show gratitude upon defeat. Do you know the true meaning of those words?” You said, breaking the silence after that oppressive show of dominance as the Banchou Devil before returning to your normal, laid-back self. Hyuuga still couldn’t bring himself to speak but you could already guess what he was thinking.

“Reflect upon victory means to never let yourself become conceited and blinded by arrogance. Never settle for stagnation and compliance over your current skill level. Show gratitude upon defeat is the appreciation of learning more about yourself. From your current strength and weakness to the moves of your adversary. It’s a sign of growth showing that you can still become stronger. Hyuuga Hatabuki, you are indeed worthy to have been a national champion and a third dan kendo practitioner. But like a true idiot, you left yourself be too narrowminded and blinded.” You said, slowly smiling at Hyuuga after harshly yelling at him.

“Truth be told...you’re frustrated. Frustrated being around people who don’t understand you. Frustrated at being unable to polish your skills and fight against someone stronger than you. Frustrated...at finding yourself incapable of having a rival or someone to stand alongside you as an equal. A true comrade. That’s why you lash out on others, believing that nobody can understand you. You may be a good nature student on the surface, but your heart is no different than those delinquents and misfits you looked down on. Just like you, they're giving it their all too.” You said.

As you offer your hand to him, naturally he flinches back thinking you were going to hurt him but upon opening his eyes he would see that was furthest from the truth. There was a sense of warmth and kindness radiating in your hand. By all accounts, you were justified in beating the snot out of Hyuuga. But you were better than that. Despite Hyuuga’s many attempts at trying to strike you down and/or manipulating you to take out the trash, you still offered your hand to him. Dealing with such people was apart of how to be delinquent for dummies.

For as bad as they make themselves out to be, at the end of the day they’re still people and everyone needs some help from time to time. There was also the fact you reflect that hadn’t been a certain person, you may very well would’ve ended up like Hyuuga. So who are you to turn down the chance to help someone just like how you were helped as a child. Seeing this act of kindness, Hyuuga begrudgingly grabs your hand rises up to his feet.

“As you probably have figured out, I ended up being captain of the Kendo club. And to make matters worse, I’m also working part-time as the General Affairs Manager of the student council. While I’m committed to taking my role seriously and train any who wants to seriously learn all they can about the way of the sword within reason. I can’t deny there will be times where I’ll be called by Medaka to help her with whatever hijinks she has cooked up.” You explained, scratching your head as you reflect upon Medaka. Knowing her, she would’ve done the same thing that you’re currently doing. She loved people and it just wasn’t in her to abandon them, especially during their time of need. A trait that you shared although more down to earth.

“So I need someone to watch over the club while I’m gone during those times. Someone who knows their way with the sword and has a serious passion for the art. But it also means they’ll have to become good at handling people since teaching others is different from “listening” to someone else’s order.” Briefly, you turned to Hyuuga, hinting at him being that person before turning your head and putting your arms behind your head.

“Of course if you don’t want to do that you’re more than welcome to use the Kendo hall’s training grounds out back to practice seriously on your own. But if you want my personal opinion, I think you’ll flourish better helping others slowly rise to your level. Having strong people to spar with will surely improve your game and make your dream that much more reachable.” You said, egging him on as you subtly push him in the right direction.
>>
>>3931167

“Fine, I do it. I can’t exactly turn you down since you defeated me. And you’re right, if those guys do show up and you’re gone then they’ll probably slack off and bring shame to those who trained before them.” Hyuuga said, turning his head to blush ever so slightly. Seeing that smile on your face made him feel at peace before developing a tsundere like approach. “But don’t go thinking I’m settling with being your number two. One day I will defeat you Keichi Hakumasa and reach the ten dan in kendo. And that’s a promise.”

“Go ahead. I look forward to fighting you in proper kendo as many times as you like. But if you ever want to learn how to fight in the outside world as a swordsman, I’ll be happy to teach you as well.” You smiled coly, further igniting Hyuuga’s drive. After talking about it some more, you eventually find yourself alone once again. Everything was coming together with all loose ends more or less tied neatly.

“Hmm. This is something I been thinking for quite a while now. Are you by chance a natural-born idiot or perhaps suffered enough blows to the head from your delinquent days?” Hansode said, finally breaking the silence. You were so caught up in your little moment with Hyuuga that you forgot you left Hansode on hold for a long time.

It is literally a requirement to be an idiot to be a banchou, let alone the banchou of the east.

“Sorry, sorry. I got caught up with something unexpected.” You apologized, despite hearing Hansode call you an idiot. She wasn’t wrong since it only takes an idiot to be a banchou, much less the banchou devil of the east. Once again you let yourself get caught up in the moment and forget everything else unrelating to it.

“Oh, Keichi I’m not upset that you left me hanging..”Hansode said, showing her cheerful side. That said you felt a dreadful presence in her tone as she takes a deep breath. “I’m positively livid that you so happen to have me on hold while having a scuffle with Hyuuga. I mean sure I’m glad you managed to nip that bud before it became a problem and I needed to send a message in the suggestion box asking for someone to fix his bad personality. But you shouldn’t exactly keep a charming maiden like me waiting on the line without giving a reason.”

You winched a bit, feeling that resentment in her voice as it echoes in your ears. Slowly closing your eyes, you awkwardly gather up your nerves. “Again I’m really sorry. How about I treat you to something nice during lunch tomorrow. “

Hansode took a small pause, thinking about the offer rather closely. “Make it a meal outside during this weekend and you’ll be instantly forgiven Ken-chan.”

“Sound good, thanks for being so understanding.” You smiled, letting out an honest sigh of relief and earnest cheerfulness. Hansode on the other line found herself blushing a bit at the sweet Keichi brushing off her antics like they were no big deal.

“Really Ken-chan, do you really have to be so wholesome and upbeat all the time?” Hansode muttered, reflecting rather somberly at her childhood friend being unwavering and endearing to her.

“Hm? You say something?” You blinked, not noticing what Hansode whispered.

“No, its nothing. Anyway, about that Namida girl. Just leave it to me and I’ll arrange a meeting between the two of you. “Hansode said, changing the subject and returning to her normal self.

“Really?! Ah, that makes me feel so much better. Thank you so much Hansode.” And with that, you ended your call with Hansode on a lighter note. Now you didn’t have to spend your time looking for that mysterious girl. With that, you quickly made yourself back home. After a hardy day of sparing and delinquent work, you couldn’t help but crave some Chinese food from your mom.

Like father, like son. We must have a hidden Abnormality passed down from him:「Lewding Legal Lolis」. Not sure if that's the kind of plan you wanted. It's more a summary of everything we need to do, desu.

I'm a bit confused about Number One, is it entirely temporary and we're currently just your average Special human being or semi-temporary and we're straight up superhuman as long as we keep up with training?

Also, anyone know why thread's not bumping? Had to look way down in the catalog.

Any gained from number one is temporary unless you commit to training/practice to keep your gains.

So Semi-temporary is actually an accurate and nice way to label.

Also, it doesn't bump because after 5 days it starts to autosage. We're not fast/explosively popular to hit 700 posts before the deadline.

you don't seem to understand that our heart is for ajimu

I understand fully, anon. Perhaps it would be more apt to call it a Minus. It is beyond our control. Just as it was beyond our father's control.

Why else do you think he would rather dig up dirt than see his own son ;_;

Sorry for the delay, but thanksgiving preparation has been hell. Though it seems like everyone has already mapped out what they're going to do. Sometime this weekend or Monday at the lastest I'm going to make a new thread to cover that stuff and progress the story along.

Thanks for sticking with me and looking forward to continue the Escalation train all the way to the sun.
