/qst/ - Quests

You are (now) a small, blind slime who has acquired two companions. A fluttering thing (named Eve) who is tied to the mash you currently keep within your void pocket and Ser Fuzzylad, a competent individual who has the odd habit of staring off into the distance at all times. You can feel that they have more of a grasp on things in general than yourself as well.

Things have been busy as of late, and you decided to get some much needed rest in the meantime. With a pair of companions nearby you feel at ease enough to slumber in a true sense of peace, which is a feeling you never knew was desired until experiencing it.

You decide to fall deeper into slumber, a territory you have never managed to enter before. A sense of isolation creeps into your thoughts, and a cold darkness accompanies it. Sensations and imagery flashes in diminutive snippets of thought as you rest, none able to shed light when observed. Deeper yet you succumb to this endeavor, and eventually notice something that feels familiar to yourself yet are unable to recall from where. It is a heat, similar to the orb in the sky which screams down upon you and all others throughout the day. The scream gradually grows loud, and begins to seer your body. Around you lies a gathering of crackling elements which seem to be rejoicing in your discomfort, throwing bits of themselves into the air to never return to their owners. You writhe in an attempt to find shelter from the orb above, but only encounter more of the flickering mob. Contact leads to a surge of heat which boils your flesh to a sweltering degree, releasing a mist which follows after the debris thrown into the sky by the crowd.

You awaken with a start, the shock of what you witnessed in the dream feeling all too real as you take in the surroundings. It's been a few days since forming the band with Eve and Ser Fuzzylad, currently sparring with one another nearby. The mess made regarding the hard stuff from before has already been moved down towards the anvil, kept in the pit nearby with exception to the largest piece resting aside. The area has been peaceful as well, with exception to the hostile creature living under the rock refusing any form of conversation or communication, and even rejecting attempts at gifts or mimicry. Now that you're awake, what do you do?

Scooting over to get within reach, you lift an arm up to prod at the stubby stick. It doesn't budge at first, and refuses to budge if you press harder. The thing wrapped around it which leads into the big wet doesn't appear to have moved since you first noticed it a few days ago.

You produce a mouth which is then used to offer a greeting. "Good morning!" you present, but the short stick does not respond. For the most part this has been your experience with most things aside from Ser Fuzzyland and the faeries. Angry stone resident doesn't count since their reply for everything is a hiss. "What a nice thing you have wrapped around you. Is it meant to be in the big wet?"

Ser Fuzzylad looks to a different spot above and to the side of your location. "Eve training. First weapon need." "BEGONE!" bellows Ser Fuzzylad, reading his hammer in hand. "OR SUFFER!" You can feel the anticipation in the air as the knight is able to heed the call of the oncoming battle.

The bandits are caught off-guard by the shout, and seem to be shaken to the core from Ser Fuzzylad's imposing visage. "We should help!" offers Eve, readying her enchanted blade before her.

You decide to join into the fray as the bandits split up and step forward to the challenge.

"Well well," calls out the stout one, wielding an item that looks sharp. He is covered from head to seat with some strange material which does not appear to be his flesh from what you can tell. "Bring it then!"

The other, larger bandit merely sniffs the air and scuffs a foot on the ground. They only seem to be giving an eye of caution towards Ser Fuzzylad.

Combat begins!
You have command of the party. Each party member can use the following actions:
>Attack (strike with held weapon)
>Cast (the standard magic attack, mid range)
>Defend (guards against incoming attacks, also restores a minor amount of health)
>Flee (bails out of the fight! must be able to move to do so)

In addition, each party member has unique abilities:

Eve knows [Faerie Dust] and [Wind Cutter]
• Faerie Dust - a plume of glowing powder that clings to creatures. washes off easily.
• Wind Cutter - cut the air, sending out a shockwave which damages the first thing it strikes. mid-ranged.

Ser Fuzzylad knows [Smash] and [Throw]
• Smash - a downward swing that floors a creature. damages the surrounding area a bit too.
• Throw - improvised ranged attack. mid-ranged and forgoes a held weapon.

Slime knows [Eject]
• Eject - fires an object held inside, dealing damage based on size. long ranged.

A coordinated strike! You take to 'biting' the axeman, though the most you can manage is an arm. That's what armour is right? Meanwhile Eve keeps the larger bandit at bay with a quick flutter of her wings, accosting it with a spray of dust getting it right in the eyes. The larger bandit seems to have trouble seeing now! With more threatening of the bandits held in place by yourself, Ser Fuzzylad stands up and brings the hammer down upon the axeman bandit. Something about the impact feels potently brutal too.

The axeman falls to the floor in a daze, dropping the weapon and the fabric tied around his head lays on the ground before him. Elsewhere, the larger bandit stumbles around aimlessly, making curious grunts and clicks while standing dangerously close to the cliff's edge.

In a situation such as this where the party has managed to put an opponent into a stunned state, they may choose to [Spare] them. Doing so allows the opponent to live once the battle is complete. Choosing whether or not an opponent is spared will affect the quest, though the repercussions may not become immediately apparent.

You decide to [spare] the axeman after Ser Fuzzylad gives no objections. "Warrior strong. Path wrong" is all he offers in response. You feel a sense of salvation fall upon the axeman while the larger bandit begins to wander further. You can feel the dust is about to expire shortly.

If you so desire, you may choose to [pass] your turn in combat. Unlike choosing to defend, when you pass it shows you mean no harm and trust the opponent to uphold an honourable decision to end the conflict.

Sitting up and taking in your current state leads you to see bare bone fingers, arms, ribs, sternum, and feeling your face you can tell there's no muscle or sinew either. Your eye sockets are hollowed out as well, so it is safe to say you're a skeleton of some sort.

The scrutiny comes to cause information to spring into your mind regarding your current status as well. Looks like you have no name as of yet, a pair of icons which you assume are a base class of sorts, the standard array of statistics, and some skills. One of the skill slots is currently open too.

You look towards the ceiling and see a nearly perfect square of an opening with some spare stones and dirt lining the edges. A spade seems to be lodged into the opening, and further beyond a light overcast night with a full moon glimmers in the dark. This might have been why you awakened, as skellemen only ever can do so during this phase of the moon. Means that it must be near the middle of summer if your recollection of the calendar is right.

You can also locate your general position in the world based on the estimated date and the only constellation you can see. Must be in Eclato, which is ruled by Brauxe. Generally a peaceful land even with the undead unrest and regularly uncovered dungeons.

You check the bed, and find nothing of import. Deciding to check underneath leads you to lifting it off the ground to realize an opening on one end, and what could be wide sleeves as well. Looks like a set of robes of about your size, if not a bit baggy.

You put on the robes and ponder if there's a sexy means to wear them. Turns out you must of had that idea prior because these robes show a LOT of your person. Neck fully exposed, collarbone bare to the elements, a waist cut to accent your figure, and a slice of fabric cut into the side to let one of your legs show through. It even has a seam stitched in!

The COMFORT of wearing suitable clothes makes you feel more durable to the rigors of the world.

I really am here by mistake' if he still refuses to open the door then say 'are you sure there isn't...anything that little old me can do to' stretch to show off figure 'persuade you to open the door.' the goal is to seduce the guard into opening the door.

No matter how natural it may have felt to do this, you feel like you missed something vital in order to execute it flawlessly. Oh right, you likely use to have enticing flesh and a means of expression outside of body language. At least the guard means well.

You host an exchange, and find the boss is out on vacation for the summer. You'll need to either wait for them to come back to get permission to leave through the door, or to escape prior to that.

Maybe the ghost rat can help...

Unfortunately you don't seem to be able to get much help out of Squat. They do bring up a good point that the shovel poking out of the hole might be a means out of here. Problem is getting it down from where it got stuck. Too high to reach it, for sure. (See >>3915680 )

Looking into what you have in regards to capabilities leads to a stronger understanding of your available options. 「Arrow」 looks to be meant more for a direct approach to solving issues, likely intended for combat. 「Charm」is obviously more effective in avoiding a confrontation, or to capitalize on an opportunity to stop one. 「Runecraft」looks to be a utility, given it takes time to use with the [Ritual] trait. You do gleam that you must have the Scholar class due to the class icon being the same as the one next to (YOU)r non-existent name. That smiling mask must be a second class, or maybe the order determines your main and secondary class? You'll need to figure that out later. Lastly, you have a free slot which allows you to learn something immediately, but you'll need to find something to learn first.

Runecraft to make a single use 'trap' that catapult into the air. This way we can escape the hole with little issue.

You realize with a second consideration of the wording used in 「Runecraft」that you currently do not have the means for creating a rune in the first place. Second, you do not know a spell to throw yourself into the air and have not found a means to learn it either.

Asking the ghost rodent for help on the matter is returned with the knowledge that ghosts can't be touched. Seems you'll need to find a way to get around that issue to execute the plan of a fast rat special.

At first you decide to wait it out, but give up on that as you begin to feel like you're missing something important. Attempts to climb out also fall short, though well within expectations. Even getting an assist doesn't manage to brute force the issue.

However, you then consider the poison beverage as a means for 「Runecraft」. Your own magical prowess would allow you to make good use of this substance as a reliable last-ditch effort for casting so long as there is plenty of time. Estimating how much is left you can see two viable options: three small runes but they're weak, or one medium rune with standard strength. If you had a couple more ounces you could easily make a large rune that could blast the door down with a single cast.

So what's rune are you going to make?
>Small Arrow. Distance and strength similar to a stone throw.
>Medium Arrow. Distance and strength similar to a hunting bow.
>Small Charm. Lasts for about an hour, provides a minor bonus.
>Medium Charm. Lasts for about an hour, provides a moderate bonus.

Looking at the label and information yields some worthwhile results! Most of the recipe for this substance is counter-intuitive elements as a means to allow anyone to imbibe the substance, so the worst it can cause is an immediate hangover so long as it is only sipped or taken in shots. Something like this likely is used as a means to form an immunity to poisonous substances.

There is a suspicious amount of salt and wormroot in the mix though, and given honey is near the bottom of the list this seems to be of a very low quality bitter beverage.

Well with that figured out, you got a better grasp of what to expect from this as a 「Runecraft」substance! Should be stable enough to reliably cast spells at your leisure.
