Location: ???

“The path to salvation is built one crushed hope at a time, that was the first lesson God had taught me, so very long ago...” Hendrik whispers, his voice dull and empty.

He sits head down in a metal chair inside a dark room, it’s dimensions, size and location impossible to tell.

The only thing that can be seen is a man, one standing in the center of an overhead light, his dark priestly robes nearly sink into the darkness of the room itself.

In-fact, the only thing that shines upon him is the cross hanging from his neck and the stark white gloves that contrast with the rest of his outfit.

“This world is a heartless and cruel one, but not without purpose, I suffered a long time before realizing what the purpose behind my suffering was, now I see...” Hendrik explains, as he looks up from his chair.

“...And you will too, in time, all of us will.” on his face, a happy smile shines out, but in his eyes, there’s no light at all, not even the smallest hint of it.

“If this message and my messenger along with it, have been properly received, you all should be well aware of the situation now.” as he mentions that, a faint noise can be heard in the background.

He snaps his fingers and the stamping of feet starts coming from all over the room, from the darkness emerges a band of men, their bodies and faces covered in shawls that hide any discernible features about them.

Along with them, they drag a man dressed in military uniform, the man struggles and fights as he’s dragged in-front of the camera and put on his knees, his hands and mouth tied with rope.

From the stars decorating his uniform, it becomes clear the man is high-ranking official, most likely the commander of the base, or at least he was, till Hendrik arrived.

It’s then that Hendrik stands to his full height, his face face going calm and still as pond water as he speaks.

“It has been 3 days since I’ve taken control of this base. Since then I have made clear my demands on 3 separate occasions and yet I am still to receive a response.” He explains facing the camera.

“This says to me that you all must still believe I am only bluffing, that I am not ready to make good on my threats, so it seems I must remind you all…” he says as he holds his hand out.

One of the shawl wearing men understands this gesture and brings an object over to Hendrik, he then presents the item to camera.

At first glance the object appears to be some kind of small explosive, like a c4 charge of some sort, but on closer examination, it becomes clear that it something much, much more insidious.

“Surely I don’t need to tell all you good people of the government what it is I hold in my hand. I’m sure you’re all very, very familiar with this device.” He says with a faint, vengeful smile.

He is then handed a small remote with a large red button on the top as he speaks,“Miniature rose, the poor man’s rose, a nuclear explosive device, one I am ready to detonate, should another day come to pass without at least a response coming through.”

“And if my words alone aren’t enough to convince you….” He presses down on the red button.

After that, a timer flicks on the screen of the bomb, it reads 23:59 and begins to count down the minutes.

“...Maybe this will.” he says, serene and solid as an oak tree despite holding a literal ticking time bomb in his hand.

The general looks terrified beyond words, his eyes are plates at the sight of the nuke being activated.

“Do not answer my demands, and I will destroy not only this base, but the towns around and all their inhabitants as well should it become necessary. I will bring down the wrath upon you all that has not been seen since the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.” he declares.

“Let it be known I fear not death, for I am a man of God, and where as you will all burn in a pile of your desecrated ashes and sins! Me and my followers will have the gates of heaven opened up before us and we will live in everlasting peace!!” He shouts with glaring vitriol and passion.

The once quiet and still men begin to shout and stir, “EVERLASTING PEACE!! EVERLASTING PEACE!!” They chant loudly.

It is at that moment of righteous vigor and energy, that Jesper decides to stop the video.

Click! goes the remote as Sheldon and Ami pause the video from a projector in the dark room.

That prompts Jesper to turn to the large audience of at least a 100 or so people watching the video, at his side, Alice and Okabe watch over the crowd with him.

As for yourself, you and many of your friends are watching along with you among the rows of seats, watching as Jesper takes a seat himself before asking a simple question.

“So my good guys and gals, who wants to deal with this?”He asks, taking a hit of his cigarette.

Time: February 1st, 2:36 PM, Afternoon

Location: Hunter Association, Crime and Terror Division, Briefing room.

The audience begins to stir, “What the hell kind of mess is this? What kind of madmen are these guys?” one man questions.

“Did they really take-over a whole U.S base? I’m no military expert, but shouldn’t security be air-tight in those places?” Another man asks.

“Forget that, how the hell did they get their hands on an M-Rose? Those things are sanctioned all over the world, it should hell to even find one, let alone steal one…” A woman questions.

Questions get asked from every direction, confusion and worry clear on everyone’s faces.

Seeing this, Jesper puts up a hand, “Okay, okay, one at a time please, I’ve only got two ears, one mouth and no time for dumb questions. Raise your hand and make sure you ask something worth answering.” he demands.

With that the hall quiets down and hands start being raised all over the place, this is your chance to ask a question as well.

You raise your hand and ask the following…

>So who are these guys? Where are they from?

>How did they manage to take-over a U.S base? How skilled are they?

>They’ve literally got a nuke? How the hell?

You start by asking the most pressing question in the room, "So who even are these guys? Where did come from?" you ask

Jesper gestures to the twins who then change the slides on the presentation, “These guys are the Prophets Of the New Future or PONF , if wasn’t clear already, they’re a prolific group of home grown domestic terrorist that have been causing us hell for nearly 20 years now.” he introduces.

“Home grown? These fuckers are Yorbian?” Bradford questions.

Jesper nods, “Born and raised in the U.S of Y, served in our army, even fought in bergerosse, and they couldn’t have a bigger hate boner for this place if they all shot up with vigara.”

“And just what the hell is making pop that pissy stiffy?” Vanilla questions.

“That we’re not too sure about at the moment, but if you’re ready for a bit of a history lesson, let me get into what our friends here were doing before now…” Jesper waves to the twins.

The twins click the remote, showing a new slide, “During their time in Bergerosse, they were assigned as a garrison force, moved from captured village to village defending the areas from attacks from the east, which were quite regular back during the war.” He adds.

Reynauld laughs, “ quite regular, by that ya mean they happened god damned day, those fucking rice-pickers spent more time burning down their own homes so we couldn’t have them, then actually fighting the damn war, no offense to any rice-pickers in the audience by the by.”

“None taken.” Vanilla & Watts say in unison.

Jesper nods, “And that’s precisely what happened to our good friends here, during what was supposed to a casual inspection job for a village, deep in friendly territory turned into War crime city when a band of 500 East men invaded the village and burned the whole thing down.”

Reynauld nods, “Ah, I heard bout that, god-awful things really, nearly 100 civvies in that place and none were spared, killed every man, woman and child they came across.”

Vanilla puts up an eyebrow, “Really? Not a single person survived? The East Union weren’t ones to take prisoners or shy away from War crimes, but they usually spare those who don’t fight back at least.”

“Well I didn’t see the whole thing go down, I just heard it from the grapevine, real strange if you ask me, how a force of Union forces got that deep in friendly territory undetected, don’t make no sense to me.” he answers.

Jesper nods, “But it most certainly happened, and not only was every civilian killed, but every last one of Hendrik’s unit as well.”

He then flips to a slide showing an aerial view photo of a burnt down, destroyed village, bodies littering the place in piles like some kind of mass-grave.
>>
People cringe and verbally groan at the sight, “This was the state of the village after the attack, seeing it, one would naturally assume that there were no survivors, including Hendrik and all his men, many of whom were found among the dead.”

You shake your head, “But considering we just saw him preaching and threatening on screen, that’s not the case is it? Did they not find his body?” you question.

“They were several bodies at the site that were never found, including that of Hendriks, however, they did find his DNA among one of the burning buildings, so he was presumed dead.” Jesper explains.

“But being presumed dead is different from actually being dead. You only made the assumption and never confirmed anything.” Flourette corrects.

“After some years of radio silence, Hendrik had come back from the dead, like Lazarus rising, one day he just came back and he brought with him a small army of 1000 other dead men. And for reasons unknown, he’s made it his goal in his new life to terrorize the country he once served.” he explains.

“He’s run down the whole terrorist shopping list: He’s killed government officials, burned down federal buildings, bought and sold dangerous material on the black market, made execution videos of burning people alive and have murdered a plethora of innocent people, including children.” He lists.

Dillion looks disturbed, “What a collection of savages, who could commit such cruelty on their fellow countrymen? Why would they do such things?” he asks.

Vanilla laughs, “You’re asking the wrong question rich boy, it doesn’t matter who they are, or why they do it, just how we’re going to stop them. And the answer is by killing them, just in case you couldn’t figure it out.”

Flourette frowns, “Now we shouldn’t be so hasty, wouldn’t be it be more prudent to capture and question them? See why they’re doing these things?” she asks.

Peachnia rolls her eyes, “Oh god, I know you’re dressed like Mary Poppins and all but does that really mean you have to spew that love and peace shit here? Why they’re doing is pointless, they kill kids maid! Fucking kids!” she counters.

Landon cuts-in, “Excuse my rudeness good dear, but I must agree with Flourette, people don’t just do evil things for the sake of being evil, you must understand the root of the evil if you are to pluck it out for good.”
>>
Flourette nods, “Precisely, You’d be surprised what people can do to their own countrymen, should they be supplied justifiable cause to inflict cruelty.”

Noell scoffs, “Do not be foolish you two. While you’re not entirely wrong, such questions are pointless, Such atrocities are common for overly righteous rebels, they don’t care to justify their reasons to us and I don’t care to learn. We must end them, plain and simple.”

Bradford is absolutely fuming, “For once, you me and me agree spider-monkey! Like fucking hell there’s a justified reason to kill the innocent and children, they’re just fucking crazy and they need to be stopped, plain and fucking simple.”

The audience is buzzing with anger and questions at Hendrik’s motivations, many not caring about his reasons, just that he is stopped while others want to test and guess what could be driving him.

You fall on the side of…

>People like Landon and Flourette, you want to learn what drives him, what made him this way.

Bradford looks to you, "Hey what do you think man? We should just off these fuckers right?" he questions

You shake your head, "I'm with Florette and Landon here, we'll never solve the real problem by just killing them, we should try our best to capture as many as we can and learn what they're fighting for." you state.

"Precisely, I couldn't have said it better myself." Landon nods.

"It's nice know you're willing to look past your anger Derrick, even in trying issues like these." Flourette smiles.

>Landon and Flourette appreciate you seeing things their way!

>+50 to both of their bonds

Bradford looks annoyed, "I mean, you're free to have your opinion and all man, but I wouldn't be so fucking nice if I were you! There are two things that really piss me off, that's arsonists and baby-killers, these fuckers are both, no sympathy from me!" he states.

Noell sighs, "The real problem you say? Hmph, the real problem here is that you lot are being far too kind to men who would never show the same mercy to you." he starts.

"It's not as simple as who's merciful, from who's not-"

"Okay! That's enough chit-chat! We have better things to do then discuss ethics and morals."Okabe claps his hands and shuts down the talk.

Alice chimes in, "As much as I can understand that all of you may have mixed feelings about the way these men are to be handled, let it be known that it's the governments direct orders that all insurgents be eliminated on sight."

"We cannot even attempt to capture them?" Dillion questions.

"You may, but these men have been a governments black-list for decades, they've run out of patience and mercy for them." Jesper states.

"Huh, the government actually doing something right for once, not something you see every day!" Bradford states.

"...." you and the rest stay quiet.

"Now then, we can begin the briefing now, but we do have a little more time for questions if there are any." Jesper states.

Noell raises his hand, "What sort of warriors are they? From your earlier description, most of them are of military background yes?" he questions.

Jesper nods, “They had their start a little after the Bergerosse War, while their exact origins are a little hard to trace, we know they were originally company of about 200 soldiers in the army, with their captain being our friend Hendrik here.” he begins.

He then flips to a slide showing Hendrik wearing military uniform standing in front a group similarly dressed men, “Captain of the company, Hendrik was highly trained and experienced in the field of combat and command, his unit was like a well-oiled machine, completing operations and missions even special forces units would find hard.” he explains.

“He’s served in the military a good 40 years, fighting through two wars in his time serving.”

“40 years? He looks good for a man past his 40.” You comment.

“Well reason for that being our friend here is a practiced Nen user, a decently strong one as well, considering how much his aging has slowed.” he explains.

You crane your head, “He uses Nen? When did he learn how to do that?”

“Exactly when is hard to say, he certainly didn’t show signs of it when he was in the army, but considering how well-versed he is in the art of Nen, we suspect he’s a Nen genius.” he explains.

“Nen genius?” Someone from the crowd questions.

Alice chimes in, “Someone who was born with the ability to use Nen, they are very rare, and most who are born with it don’t even realize it themselves, but they do exist and they are usually extremely powerful, especially the ones that realize the full extent of their power.”

Landon smiles a little, “Ah, that explains the powerful air about him, he’s a Nen genius, what sort of abilities does he have?” he questions.

“I’ll spill all the details on that in a moment, for now, are their any other questions.” Jesper asks.

"I have one, if the orginal unit was only 200 men or so, how is it that they have a 1000 now?" Flourette questions.

Alice takes this one, "Before they were taken over by Hendrik, PONF was a religious cult that started nearly 30 years ago. Their members numbered in the thousands and they took a more...extreme approach to the teachings of Christ." She starts.

"Don't beat around the bush, how far off the deep end were these guys?" Bradford questions.

"Well put bluntly, they were a group of anarchists who believed the government and state should be dissolved in favor of a more repressive Theocratic state, lead by messiah-figure of sort."

"That's...almost as fucking far off the deep end as you can go..." Bradford states.

Alice nods."That's what many U.S officials thought as well and so they never recognized the PONF as an official faith or a part of the church, however they left them alone considering they weren't doing anything other than protesting."
>>
Jesper shoots out a puff of smoke, "That was till Hendrik got involved, using his Natural born Nen abilities, he managed to convince the members of PONF that he was the messiah they had been waiting so long for." He explains.

"Their goals were perfectly aligned, they both wanted the government gone and now they both had the power and numbers to try and pull it off." Okabe states

"So they literally want to crown him as some kind of God-king or something? I swear, some people will buy into the dumbest shit..." Vanilla clicks her tongue.

"Well how about we go and sell them some common sense? And maybe a brain or two? Considering they'll need after I'm done with them!" Bradford threatens.

"I would be happy to move straight to briefing, but those anyone have any remaining questions?" Jesper asks.

>Writing...
>>
Bradford raises his hand, "So, where the hell did they get the nuke from anyway? Where do you get that kind of shit?" he asks.

“Good question, where do most terrorist get nuke? Maybe he took a stroll to his local black market and bought a couple to support his community? Or maybe he was donated one by the great folks of the Make-A-Bomb Foundation?” Jesper jokes.

“Hey! A little less sarcasm would be real fucking nice, I was asking a serious question!” you counter.

Okabe shakes his head, “A seriously pointless one you mean. Where he got the Nuke is irrelevant, all that matters is that he has them and he is clearly intent on using them.”

Alice chimes in, “Not to mention now that they’ve taken over that base, they have full access to all the weapons they had as well, so they have military grade weapons to go along with their nuke.”

Reynauld laughs, “So we’re fighting a force a men lugging around a Nuke with a side of military hardware? And you expect us to be excited fer this?”

“As excited as kid in a candy store. In terms of difficulty, the chairman rated this mission D-rank, that means fit for rookies and Non-Nen Users.” Jesper states.

“Meaning from a Pro-Hunter perspective, this job is considered easy enough for even the newbies to pull it off without help.” Okabe clarifies.

“If that’s the case, why hasn’t the military just done this job? Surely they can handle a hostage situation such as this.” Dillion questions.

“Usually yes. But not when the one taking them is Hendrik, he and his followers are a cut above the regular brand of terrorist.” Jesper answers.

“The military has already made 3 attempts to infiltrate stealthily, all have failed, only resulting in more captures and deaths.” Alice adds.

“Well why are they going about doing it the pussy way? Why not roll in with tanks and and hawks and burn the whole place down?” Bradford questions.

“Oh yes, let’s just bomb and destroy the terrorist who have an entire bases worth in hostages, their lives don't matter at all, you damned madman.” Dillion quips.

“Oh shit right, guess you can’t bomb it as long they got them huh…” Bradford realizes.

“And there’s no way the government is giving into Hendrik’s demands, so it falls unto us to do what the military couldn’t pull off in 3 days, in under 20 hours.” Okabe states.

Jesper laughs, “Just another Thursday for the Terror Division, really nothing new.”

The audience stirs, “This is nothing new around here…” One rookie whispers.

“Well we were told we were signing up for hell, but even still, goddamn…” Another one begins to regret his choice.

Okabe claps to quiet them down, “Hey now! If you can’t tell, we’re fighting agasint the clock! Literally, every second we spend talking is another ticking down on the nuke!” he demands, quieting the crowd down.

"Exactly, speaking of which, it's about time we got to the de-brief, but first, let's play the rest of the video our friend sent us. That should give a better idea of what we're dealing with."

With that Jesper signals for the Twins to get back to the video, and with the click of a button it begins again.

Hendrik holds his hand up, a signal for them all to quiet down, they obey near-instantly and become quiet as church mice.

“Yes...Everlasting peace, that is what I, nay, what we all wish for. But there are those who would do anything in their power to prevent that…”

He then hands the bomb off to one of his followers who takes the still active bomb somewhere deeper into the darkness, “Soulless, godless heathens, who love suffering, cherish war and other such degeneracy, heathens like the sodomites of the government, heathens like the mindless fools I have hostage here and heathens like…”

PLOP! Suddenly rings the sound of two dead bodies being thrown in-front on the floor in-front of the camera, their corpses unrecognizable hunks of charcoal in the shape of men.

“The fools who attempted to resist my takeover.” The man finishes.

The sadness and horror in the commander's eyes are soul-crushing to witness as he stares down at the two burned bodies on the floor, Hendrik looks down at the commander who looks ready to weep and speaks.

“Does it hurt my friend? Is it painful to look upon the bodies of those you once called comrades? Those you once thought good men?” he questions.

The commander looks up at him with rage, looking ready to burst at him with a tirade of rage, but the rope on his mouth keeps him from speaking.

“Yes, I know, I understand the feeling, that look of pure hatred, I had it in my eyes too you know. I know how it feels to lose precious friends and allies, it happens so swiftly, so suddenly...” He confesses.

He then kneels down to the commanders height, “But let it be known, as frustrating, horrifying and soul-crushing the loss of good men is, From the perspective of the government, these lives are meagre, a loss so tiny that they won’t even be given a funeral.”

“RAGH!” The commander grunts angrily.

“Resent me not, Resent the government that created this system, not me for playing into it, if it really frustrates you, aid me in destroying this Ungodly system commander, aid me in dismantling the government.” he asks.
>>
“....”, The commander turns away, not daring face Hendrik.

Hendrik does not look happy, “Unlike the rest of these men, you are no cannon fodder, the government would shake at your death, or worse...at you speaking the truths you hide.” he states.

"Grgh!", The commander flinches in response to that.

It’s then that Hendrik motions his hands to remove the commander’s mouth ties, “Grahhhhh…”The general moans in pain, burnmarks from the rope that was tied tightly around his mouth have been cut into his face.

“Tell me commander, what has the government told you? What secrets do you hide from the world?” he asks.

“Hmmm...Secrets? The hell are you talking about asshole? I’m open as a book, I’m not hiding anything, not even how badly I want to kill your ass.” The general grits his teeth, showing pride and rage in the face of his terrifying captor.

Hendrik shakes his head, “Lies will get you nowhere commander. I have long been looking into the sins of our leaders so I know they hide truths most horrifying from us, truths you are privy to. Truths you will make us privy to.” He demands.

The commander laughs, “I don’t know a damn thing you fucking loon! And even if I did, why the hell would I tell a psycho and his band of escaped mental patients, state secrets!?”

“Because we work for the greater good of mankind, we have humanity’s best interest at heart.” he explains.

The commander looks taken aback, “Do you even listen to yourself speak? You’re going to tell me you’re the good guys? You? Who just threw a pair of men you burned alive in front of me? Go jump your own ass and die!”

Hendrik frowns, “We have committed atrocities yes, but in comparison to what the people you serve have done and are going to do, our sins cannot possible compare.” he states.

“The ungodly things you people plan to do, I must save people before they are put into action...Like Moses crossing the great desert, I will lead the people on the righteous path, even if it means being hated and despised by them.” he declares.

“Are you high from sniffing one too many burning bushes there Moses? In case your crazy goggles kept you from seeing, this is just a regular airbase, what exactly are you saving people from?” he counters.

Hendrik begins to look angry, “Playing the fool will get you nowhere commander, I’ve been researching this for years, while I may not now everything, I know enough, to know this is no regular airbase.” he starts.
>>
“And how do you know that?” the commander questions.

Hendrik narrows his eyes, “I went into that lab, I saw what you people are creating in there, those abominations unto god, those vials of insidious liquid ...Do you really intend to act as If I am lying?” he counters.

“Do you honestly expect me to take a single thing your crazy ass is spewing seriously? Just kill me and get it over with.” he answers.

Hendrik and the commander then stare each other down for a few seconds before Hendrik decides to speak again.

“....I see. So you’re intent on lying in bed with the devil after-all.”

“Excuse me?” The commander asks.

It’s then that Hendrik stands up and he does, his followers in the room close in, surrounding the commander making the space very claustrophobic.

“....” The commander goes quiet, fear returning to his eyes, but he refuses to show it on his face.

“I made an attempt to save you, but you reject it, just as humanity has done time and time again, each time salvation is put before them, they reject it, again and again…”Hendrik rants.

“Commander if you are intent on siding with evil, siding with those devils in the government, then you shall be given a devil’s treatment.” he declares.

“D-Devil’s treatment?” he questions, a slight crack in his voice.

Hendrik gives him a merciless look, his eyes as black and empty as the abyss of death itself as he speaks.

“You must be cleansed.”

“Cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed...cleansed…” The followers chant slowly as they get even closer.

It’s then that Hendrik begins to remove his gloves and presents his ruined, burnt hands to the general, “I will not kill you, but I must cleanse you of your sins, bleach you with flame.” he explains.

The followers grab the commander by the hair and pull his head up so he looking directly up as Hendrik places his hand on one side of the commander’s face.

“Oh god...Oh Lord no…Please don’t do this...” The commander cries fill the now silent room as Hendrik keeps him like that for a moment.

“Praying to god for mercy now is meaningless. Fools like you will not be saved.” Hendrik states.

Hendrik then rubs his crispy, flakly, blackened hand across the commander’s face, placing it on his cheek, “Instead, pray that you will not be so foolish to allow this to happen again.”

“Damn it….” Is all the commander can whisper out before it begins.
>>
PHROOOOAHHHHHH! The flame pours out all at once, like a cutting-torch, it blasts a wave of unconstrained fire that burns it’s way starting from his cheek moving it’s way up to his eye.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!” The commander’s cries go from silent to deafeningly loud, causing everyone watching to cringe at the sight of the flesh literally melting off the man’s face.

"Do not weep! Do not cry! This is your punishment! Accept with patience and virtue and so shall the Lord accept your penance!" Hendrik shouts as he scorches away.

"AHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh...ahhhhh...ahhh..."After what feels like am eternity filled with screams and extreme disfigurement, the flames cease and so does the commander's consciousness along with it.

He goes limp, one side of his face has been horribly torched, the flesh on the cheek burnt black, scars reaching up to his eye and nearly burning off one side of his nose.

Hendrik looks down at the burnt man, his face not one of glee, but no one of regret either, he speaks, almost in a whisper.

"...This is for the sake of a greater future. This suffering, this pain, this despair, all of it...every part of it is necessary to reach the future humanity needs." Hendrik says more for himself then the unconscious commander.

"Oh yeah, keep telling yourself that fucker...I bet that helps you sleep at night..." Bradford is quietly grumbling in rage near you.

The commander is dragged away as Hendrik faces the camera again, "Let this be known, I shall not take no for an answer. My demands are simple, The government is to be dissolved, it's officials brought to justice and the truths they hide from us brought to light." He explains.

The men in the back crawl back into the shadows as he speaks, "I've sent a messenger to receive your answer. Should I not here back from him within the next 12 hours, well...I needn't repeat what shall happen." He presents the red button from earlier.

He then grabs the camera, turns it up and says his parting words with a smile.

"Farewell and may the lord bless you with the wisdom to make the right choice."

And with that the video ends and Alice speaks , "Now, it should be clear to all of you, this situation is a time-sensitive and a very delicate one." she starts.

"I don't give a flying fuck what kind of sensitive this mission is! Let's just skip to the part where we run in and gun those assholes down!" Bradford demands.

Jesper cuts-in, "Cool your barrels there buck-shot. If you couldn't make it out from Alice's pretty speak, this isn't the kind of mission we can just bust in blow shit up on." He states.

"Then how are we going about this operation?" Landon questions.

The twins flip to a slide presenting an aerial view map of the airbase, various arrows and circles have been drawn to indicate important locations.

Alice flips through a clipboard and speaks, "This will be a stealth mission. infiltration and exfiltration, your mission objectives are two-fold: 1.Recuse the hostages in the base, 2.Elimnate or capture any and all terrorists you come across." She starts.

"In order to accomplish this, we have highlighted 4 key-zones, those being the Front gate of the base, the Anti-Air command center, the airfield hanger and the weapons development lab, where we suspect they have hidden the nuke." She lists as she points to the various highlighted zones on the map.

"The base is highly defended from both the front and the air, since they have active SAM encampments, making frontal and aerial assaults impossible till they are disabled." She explains.

The presentation then switches to a slide showing a long, very wide river, "However, around the south-end of the base, there is a river that connects to the sea, from this river, a 4 ground squads made up of 8 people each are going to infiltrate from the back and disable the various security measures they have put in place." Alice explains.

Okabe chimes in, "Once the front gate has been secured, the hostages all that has been recused and the nuke decommissioned, then the military forces can rush in and finish off any remaining terrorists that you guys couldn't catch." he explains.

Literalli Whu raises a hand, "And what about Hendrik? I don't hear anything about capturing him." he asks.

Jesper answers, "Most naturally you are to eliminate him on sight, however we are unsure of his location. Neither satellite images nor any scouts have been able to see his movements ever since he made the video."

"He, however is a low priority target, your first aim should be recusing the hostages, who we believe to be held in the hanger building." Alice adds.

"You're saying believe and assume an awful lot missy." Reynauld points out.

"Our info is far from concrete, however we do have someone who can give us more answers, but is a bit reluctant to at the moment." Jesper answers.

"You mean this messenger Hendrik kept referring to yes?" Landon guesses.

He gives him a thumbs up, "It's good that you're fast on the uptake, he's currently sitting in our interrogation room down below, we've been pressing him for answers, but he's been giving us the cold shoulder."

"The cold shoulder?" you ask.

"He says he won't speak to anyone who isn't from the government, he's only here to receive the answer for Hendrik's demands after-all." Okabe answers.

"So one of those fuckers are here? Right now? Oh he's gonna receive something alright, just leave me alone with him for a few minutes, I'll get his ass to talk...if he's got any teeth left when I'm done with him that is."

Jesper scartches the back of his head, "We don't really have the time to be trying to get info out of him anymore, at most we have 30 minutes to spare before needing to move out. That's the most I can give you to try and get info out of him." he explains.

"That's all the time I'll need, I've broken men in half in less than 5 minutes." Bradford states.

"Jesus Christ Brad. I know you're pissed but they're saying you're supposed to interrogate him, not kill him." You state.

"Who says I can't do both?" He asks, clearly far too belligerent to be reasoned with.

"Uhhh..." you groan, (Oh Christ he's super damn pissed, he'd sooner rip the messenger's tongue out then actually listen to him.) you realize.

Jesper pours out a wave of smoke in a sigh, "Listen, we're pressed for time and we can't be wasting it letting you blow off some steam, either you calm down, let someone else take the interrogation job, get someone to go with you or just drop it all together and let us get moving." Jesper explains.

(Well I guess if I'm going to stop him, or help him, I have to say something now...)

You come to a decision and speak, "Hey! Would it be alright if I went down with him!?" you question.

"Oh? Derrick? Well two heads are better at solving problems then two fists, so go right ahead." He answers.

"Don't speak so damn soon detective! I've never met a problem I couldn't knock out with a closed fist in my life! You just haven't tried hard enough!" He counters.

"Yeah, but how many times do I have to tell you it's an interrogation not a torture chamber." Jesper states.

"Tell that to all the cops who took me in for interrogation, I swear, all their japping was the most hellish torture, I would've grateful to get knocked in the jaw one if it meant they'd shut up!"

Jesper shakes his head, "Oh Christ, I don't have time to deal with you today. Hey, You two, show those boys to the interrogation room, make it quick."

The Twins look annoyed, "Boss! How many times do we have to tell you our name isn't You two it's Sheldon and Ami!" Ami complains.

"How do you keep forgetting about the dynamic duo!? The Crazy Carltons!? The Masterful Maestros-"

"If you don't shut up I'll make your duo name the Repugnant Retards Shut up and guide them already!" Jesper demands.

"Finnnneeeee." They go in unison as they move from the stage and head down to the row you and Bradford sit in.

You both get up and head towards the twins, "Follow us gentlemen, we shall take you to a special place filled with glee and wonder!" Sheldon announces as you all walk off.

"We're heading to an interrogation room, not an amusement park, tone it down with the wonder and whimsy please." You counter.

"Amusement park is actually what we call the interrogation room around here!" Ami clarifies.

"Why do you do that?" Bradford questions.

"Cause every suspect we take in there goes on an exciting, new ride!" Sheldon states.

"Usually into the wall or the table!" Ami adds.

"Is it me or does this amusement park sound anything but amusing?" you counter.

"It is amusing! For the people who get to watch!" Ami states.

"That would be us by the way!" Sheldon states.

"Well get ready you annoying bastards, you're about to see a hell of a ride..." Bradford says as you're guided to the room.

Time: February 1st, 3:07 PM, Afternoon

Location: Hunter Association, Crime and Terror Division, Interrogation room.

After a few more minutes of listen to the Twins non-stop prattling, you're led down, deeper into the ground by a flight of stairs into a hallway with a series of rooms, each marked with a number or the letter I or T.

"What are all these rooms for?" you ask.

"Oh well, the ones marked I are interrogation rooms, we due to home many suspects come and go day by day, we need many of them open so we don't have delay interrogations." Sheldon explains.

"And the rooms marked T?" Bradford asks.

"Those are for...Less cooperative suspects that we've been get told to extract information from by any means necessary" Ami explains.

"Wait...Are you saying we have literal Torture chambers down here? That wasn't just a bad joke?" you ask.

"As far as the media and general population is aware, it is and always will be a bad joke." Ami explains.

"That is until someone gets thrown in there, then it turns from bad joke to living nightmare, but don't think too hard about that, that isn't our destination, that room is." Sheldon points to the door labeled I-7.

You do your best to ignore the thoughts of all the horrible things done in this basement as you enter the room.

Once inside, the first thing of note about the room is that it's very cramped, the room feels like it barely spans 10 meters in width, with the majority of the space being taken by the long wooden table and the single overhead light illuminating the room.

The table has 3 seats, two for the side you believe the investigators would sit on and one on the suspect's side, where you see the man in question.

You see that he is a man of average build and height, his appearance isn't too noteworthy, he has short brown hair and the face of a young man in his early 20's.

What is notable about him though, is that he Wearing a shawl like all the other members you've seen so far and he exudes this he has a dark, creepy aura about him as he sits silently behind the table.

His eyes closed, his hands have been chained, but he simply brings them together in silent prayer, he has made no indication of acknowledging your existence.

"That our man?" you question.

"That he is, he arrived here a little over 2 hours, brought over by the government who told us to get as much out of him as we could." Sheldon explains.

"Our efforts have been in vain though, he just goes silent to any questions we ask him and he refuses to do anything we tell him too."

Bradford slams his fist together, "Have you tried beating it out of him yet?"

"Oh many times, but even physical violence doesn't make him speak and employing more extensive methods would be too time-consuming. He's a hard nut to crack." Ami explains.

"That is because I fear not death." That's when the silent man speaks.

You all look over to him, his eyes open now and much like what you saw in the video they are like Hendrik's, bottomless pits of emptiness, void of feeling, void of remorse.

"I am a son of the lord, one who does his will, I follow the path set to me by the messiah, so I shall not fall astray, not to violence, not even to death. I shall only speak to one with the kingdom of god in his heart, or one from the government, no one else." He explains in a calm voice.

"He's been saying things like that since he was brought here, We don't really get what he means by all that and he won't explain." Ami states.

"Maybe he just wants to talk to a fellow Christian?" You guess.

"We tried that, we even brought a priest over to chat him up but nothing! He just ignores him out-right." Sheldon explains.

"Well that just means he doesn't want a man of God, but a man that will send him to God! And guess what, I'm your man" Bradford declares as he steps forward.

Bradford gives an angry smile as he steps forward, putting his hands on the table and looming over the man, "You sure are hyping yourself up there for such a scrawny kid. When you say stuff like that, it sounds like you're challenging me to break you!" He threatens.

"...You are one consumed by wrath, anger has blinded your eyes, you seek only retribution, not the truth." The man calmly realizes.

"Was it that obvious? Maybe you can help calm me down by answering a few questions!?"Bradford demands.

The man closes his and shakes his head, "No...Your soul has been taken by sin, wrapped in ignorance, I shan't speak to you. It would be a pointless effort."

"You're testing my nerves kid! You best start talking or else!" He threatens again, brandishing his closed fist at him.

The man then goes back to his praying posture, "Bring me a true man of God, or a man of the government to answer me. I shall not speak to anyone else." He repeats.

Bradford looks ready to bust a vein, "Do you really fucking think you can give orders here you goddamn pansy!?"

"....." He doesn't even respond, just ignores him and returns to praying.

Bradford pulls his fist back and readies it, "Oh that's it you little fucking worm, I'm gonna-"

"That's enough!" You say as you grab his out-stretched fist.

He swipes your hand away, "You're really gonna stop me from pounding this fucking asshole!? We have lives on the line and all he can do is talk all this bullshit-"

You grab him by the collar and pull him in, "You're damn right lives are on the line, That's why we can't fly off the handle here. We need answers, not self-satisfaction."
>>
"Grr...." He groans but can't argue.

You let him go and take a seat at the table, putting yourself face to face with the young man as you formulate a method to talk to him.

"If you two are going to get settled in, we'll just leave you, so we can watch from close by." Ami points to the magic glass window in the room.

"You've got 30 minutes and a lot of questions that need answering, we'll call you in when there isn't any time remaining. Do your best!" Sheldon cheers as the twins leave the room.

"30 fucking minutes...that's not enough time damn it..." Bradford grumbles as he takes a seat next to you.

"....." You then stare down the silent youth and wonder to yourself how are you going to approach this?

First you need to decide your method, you think the best way to get him to talk is...

>Gently coax him, appeal to his emotion and empathy.

>Press him for answers, You can't be violent, but you can't be soft either, show him you mean business but don't get too rough.

>Bust his ass, Bradford's right, with enough violence he's sure to crack at some point, threaten and attack him till he talks.

I feel like the Nuke would be the most pressing issue, since, you know, it's kinda pointless if we save the hostages but then the fucking nuke goes off. Hendrik is the mystery box option, it could be either key info or completely useless.

You decide that while you can't beat him up, you can't be nice about this either as you speak.

You speak, "Alright man, I'm going to be straight with you, I'm pressed for time and patience and I need answers and I need them now."

"....." The man says nothing back.

"But don't get it wrong, I'm pissed, but I'm not half as pissed as my friend here." You point to Bradford who's still grumbling beside you.

"If you couldn't tell, he's ready to crack a few heads should push come to shove and personally I don't want to get shoving...yet." you state.

"....." Still no response.

You begin to get annoyed, "I know you're not feeling chatty, but can you at least tell me where the hostages are being kept? That would be a great place to start."

"And for what reason should I tell you that?" The man doesn't lose his praying posture, but does respond.

"Because I have to save them, they've done no wrong, you can help me save them, you just need to answer the question-"

"They've done no wrong you say? You speak but you do not think, you know not what those men and women have done and yet you choose to save them?" He counters.

"Why? What if I told you those Men and women were actively working to destroy the world and all that you love, would you still wish to save them?" he asks.

You struggle to answer that, "Hey, now's not the time to throwing out moral quizzes, just answer the-"

"And who are you to demand my answer? Are you of the government?" he asks.

You and Bradford look between each other, not entirely sure, "Well we've been contracted by the government, if that counts for anything."

"Does that mean you answer for them? What is your response to our Messiah's demands?" he questions.

"Well...That's..." You can't possibly answer that.

"If you are not a man with God in his heart or a man of the government, then you are no man I wish to speak to." He says before going quiet again.

"No, Bradford we can't." You deny.

"Oh come on man! At least let me sock him one! Just one for the fun of it!" He demands.

"Control yourself man..." You say, however you yourself are feeling a little violent now, maybe it's time to change up methods?

Oh fucking shoot me.

Alright! Guess what's happened, magically on this day of all days, cord to my PC decided to fry itself to death.

The PC is fine, the battery is basically untouched and my hardware is almost brand-new and yet only power cord failed.

Good news is, they are easy to replace, I'll be able to get a new one as soon as tomorrow.

Bad news is I cant run for the rest of the day and will probably be late for the session tomorrow (if I can even make it)

You know, I often joke that my quest is forever cursed to be delayed due to me picking to run a Haitus X Haitus quest, but maybe that isn't such a joke after all, perhaps I am truly cursed.

Sorry to any new players I want to say this doesn't happen regularly, but with my luck, it really does and I am so very sorry.

To my regulars, I hate saying it, I really, really do, but you'll have to be patient with me again.

Goodnight anons, I truly hope you having a better day then me.

After collecting yourself, you let out a sigh as you try once again, "Alright man, let me be straight with you, I have no damn idea what's going in that base, I have no clue what those people have done and what they do and do not deserve." you start.

"...." he doesn't respond, however he does open his eyes, showing he's listening to your words.

"But even so, I want to help them. I can't judge a man I've never met, that's kind of thing is the domain of God and God I am not. I'm just a man and I want to do as a man does and figure shit out himself." you explain.

"...So you wish to save them? Even if you come to regret later down the line, you wish to take a chance on those forlorn souls, for what reason?" he asks.

This is your chance, "I don't know about you, but I believe it's human nature to want to help each other, no matter the cost to themselves." you state.

"Even if those you're helping are the most reprehensible filth on Earth?" he asks.

"I won't know till I meet them. And I also believe it's in human nature to regret a decision only after making, and what can I say? I'm looking for some regrets." you add.

You then lean in, make direct contact with the man as you continue, "But guess what? I can't do either till you tell me the truth. Where are the hostages?"

"....." At first the man says nothing, he stares into your open eyes, looking into them, staring into your very soul to discern your intentions.

After a moment, he lets out a small chortle, "How naive, it seems as ridiculous as it is, you're serious." he realizes.

"You making fun of my buddy, You little fuck, I ought to-" Bradford moves to defend you, but you stop him and let the man continue.

"But that earnest desire to save and help others...As a steward of my Lord, I cannot deny it...Fine, The hostages have been hidden in the Barracks." He answers.

Your face and Bradford's brighten at this answer, "Exactly where in the Barracks? Are they all grouped up together?" you ask.

"After our invasion, their were only a little over 50 people in the base, at first we hid them in the Airfield hanger, but we realized that was too obvious a location." He explains.

"We then decided to move them to the barracks and separate them into a group of 20 and 30 people." he starts.

(I guess that's How Alice mistook hanger as their hiding place, good thing I figured this out, we almost walked to an empty room, probably trapped too...)

>New info gained! The hostage location is the barracks!

"One group is hidden within the Recreation room, while the other is within the Mess Hall. Needless to say, they are both heavily guarded, so good fortune to you should you attempt recusing them." he adds.
>>
"Man, you tongue sure got loose all of a sudden? What, got a thing for blondes?" Bradford looks happy, but still quite pissed.

"I only answered because your subordinate spoke from the heart his honest desire to save others, my faith doesn't allow me to deny those who speak from the heart." He answers.

"You say that like I didn't talk from the heart too! Everything I say, I mean from the very bottom of my thumper." He counters.

"Yes, but unlike you, your subordinate speaks honestly of his desire to help others. You only speak only of destruction, the sign of a weak, corrupt heart, one most easy to be controlled by the Devil's charm." He explains.

Bradford laughs, "Oh that's where your wrong friend..."

He then leans in closely and glares at the man, "If the Devil saw the kind of rage in my heart, he'd piss his goat-skin pants and go crawling back into whatever hole he'd crawl out of."

"...I don't doubt it." The man admits, showing the slightest inkling of fear.

You then pull Bradford back in, "Now come on, he's finally talking, knock it with the threats, it's time to play nice."

"Sure thing Mom!" He laughs.

"Keep acting up and Mommy will spank you." You threaten.

Bradford groans, "Aw man, if only you were actually a woman, that would almost sound kinda hot!"

The man cringes, "A heart most destructive and degenerate I see."

Bradford flips him the bird as you decide on the next question to ask...

"Okay, let's keep this info train rolling. Riddle me this, where are you hiding the nuke? How are we supposed to disarm it?" you question.

The man's eyes narrow a little, "Now I don't see why I should answer that question. That would be handing out vital information, too vital."

"More vital then all the lives it will take? This is an M-Rose we're talking about here, the damage won't stop with the explosion, it will claim the lives of your friends and the soldiers you've captured." You start.

"Not to mention, the people in the surrounding towns, hell the cities surrounding those towns might even get leveled and that's not even accounting for radiation." you explain.

"Do you think we are not aware of this? Me and My Brothers and Sisters know well the destruction we will wrought should we allow that bomb to detonate. We are vividly aware of it." he counters.

"If you know then why don't you tell me? Don't give me any shit about random townspeople being evil or something." You counter.

"Of course not, if at all possible, we would like to avoid such needless bloodshed, it breaks my heart to think of all the good men, women and children if it were to go off..." He states.

"If that's the case, then hurry up and-"

"But it is not my place to decide what happens now is it?" he starts.

"Excuse me?" you shoot back.

"This decision was made because the Government failed to comply when we threatened their soldiers, when we appealed to their hearts, when we begged for change." He explains.

"To a Government that cares not for it's soliders, cares not for morality, ignores the pleas of it's citizens, what is the answer? Sit around and do nothing?" he asks.

"Of course not, it means we must also abandon the people, cast aside morality and ignore the pleas of the people, to show the government their are forces even more evil then themseleves."

"...What. The. Fuck." Bradford shoots out, blown away by that tirrade.

"It was Governments Indolence and Apathy has led to this scenario and only the government's answer can end it. Send a diplomat and comply to our demands, that is how the Nuke shall be disarmed." He finishes.

"...." You're left a little in awe at the raw fanaticism of his words, he genuinely believes in this twisted form of logic.
>>
"Jesus Christ you're fucked in the head. Do you realize how insane you sound?" Bradford questions.

"I believe myself to be quite sane. But if I am not, know that it was the government that drove me to madness, so they must answer to it." He declares.

"I bet you believe a lot things buddy and let me be the first to tell you just because the psychologist says normal doesn't mean you get to walk out of the madhouse!"He jabs.

"You would never understand what drives us Heathen, this discussion is pointless..." He spits.

You're beginning to lose his trust and time with only 15 minutes remaining you decide to ask...

You figure that continuing this line of questioning is pointless for now and move unto a new line of questioning.

"Now hold on! Don't go saying talking is pointless, talking right now is exactly what's going to save our collective asses." You state.

"You say so, however, I shan't tell you the nuke's location, nor how to disarm it, so any further talk is-"

"Enough about that, I have a better question, tell, where is Hendrik hidden?" you ask.

That question gets a good reaction out him, "You wish to know where our Messiah is? For what purpose? To kill him?" He asks.

Bradford chimes in, "Well that's what I plan on doing if I see him, don't know about the rest of you."

The man reveals an expression of rage, "You damned mongoloid, I knew you were a fool but I did not think you suicidal."

"Well I'm not actually, but everyone keeps saying that about and I have no idea why!" Bradford complains.

"Well I'm telling because there isn't a chance in all 7 circles of hell that you will be able to even touch him, let alone harm him. While we are simple stewards of our Lord, he is God's very own Archangel." he explains.

"a warrior most pious and righteous, perfect in both soul and body, God's own will made manifest..." he turns his head up to the black, stone roof, yet his eyes look beyond that, staring at the very heavens, even when they lie several layers away.

"The chances of you...Any of you defeating him are nigh-impossible, I won't even entertain such a train of thought." He states.

"Then ignore him, entertain mine instead." you cut-in.

"Excuse me? And how is your wish any different from his?" He asks.

"Because unlike him, I don't want to kill Hendrik, I want to talk to him." You start.

"You...what?" The man looks taken aback.

"That's my line! Derrick, our mission told us we're supposed-"

"Shut your mouth for a sec Bradford, let me talk so we can actually get something done for once." You shut down.

"I...You...Aw fuck it, do whatever you want!" He clearly has something to say, but quiets down at your request.

You turn your eyes back to the messenger, "Be honest with me man, tell me where he is." you ask.

"...What do you want to ask him? Why do you wish to speak?" he asks.

"I want to know what drives him, what led him to doing this, I don't care to kill him, just figure why he's doing all this." you state, honestly.

The man gets up from his seat, emotion filling him at this unexpected change in tone, "You lie! after all that you've seen, you'd truly favor talking over violence? You seek truth over retribution?" He asks.

You get up from your seat in turn and meet his emotion, "Look at me! Have I lied to you even once since this started!? Unless I know what drove him to this then we can't possible reach a solution!" you exclaim.

"Gr...." Even he can't argue with that logic as he brought to silence and forced to contemplate.

"....Fine, I shall tell you." after an eternity's time past he accepts.

You smile, "I knew you'd see it my way!"

He sits back down and laughs a little, "I'm ashamed of myself, I was told to not let emotion overwhelm yet here I am! Tell me, what is your name Hunter?" He asks.

You take your seat as well, a little worn out after that, "Derrick Holums."

"Mr.Derrick...I had not seen it till now, but you are a man with the kingdom of God in his heart, you are precisely the man people of our faith respect." He states.

"I can't take that as compliment considering what you guys do with your time." you counter.

"Well know that regardless of how you feel about us, now that I and any other member of the PONF have not seen a proper man of God since Hendrik himself." he explains.

"The ability to truly put away one's own personal feelings, stand up against the institutions that hold him down and seek truth and speak it to power...That kind of ability is something Jesus himself would respect." He compliments.

"Thanks for the nice words, but I'd rather hear the answer to my question." you demand.

"Yes, well the unfortunate thing is that I am not is currently aware of Hendrik's location." he explains.

"You don't know?" you question.

"No one does, not presently. After he cast that video earlier today, he had just disappeared somewhere, hasn't been seen since." he explains.

"So no one actually knows where he is?" Bradford questions.

"None of the regular members anyway, the only one who could know anything would be Urmaim, Hendrik's most trusted adviser..." he explains.

"And where would we find him?" you ask.

"That too is unknown, he hid alongside Hendrik after the video." he answers.

"So we've all you know is that no one knows where he is? Can you at least tell me where the video was shot?" you ask.

"That I can say, yes, the video was shot in the weapons lab, I don't believe he left the building, so perhaps he still in there somewhere?" He guesses.

(Where we also suspect the nuke is hidden? It would make sense for him to personally guard his bomb, it's his greatest asset...) you realize.
>>
>New info gained: Hint to Hendrik's location

"Any other info we can use?" you question.

"Relating to Hendrik's location, no. But as aside for showing yourself to be a man of god, I shall answer your earlier inquiry." he states.

Bradford laughs a little, "Now that's what I want to hear!"

"There is only one way disarm the bomb is to push that same button the Messiah had pressed in the video." He answers.

"The big red one? Go figure the answer is always a big red button." You comment.

"Yes, you must press it twice in quick succession to deactivate it, be forewarned though, Hendrik would never let such a vital device out of his possession, so you can be sure he's guarding it, personally." He warns.

>New info gained: How to disarm the Nuke.

You nod your head, "So you can be cooperative after-all."

"I had told you from the beginning, I would only answer to a government official or a man with the kingdom of God in his heart, you just so happened to be the latter, that is all." he explains.

"Whatever gets us answers man, you'd best just be grateful my friend here stopped me from ruining your ass!" Bradford threatens.

"Whatever you say." With that he ignores you once more and gets back to praying.

Creak... It's then you hear the cracking of the door behind you, you look back to see Sheldon and Ami popping their heads out.

"Time's up boys! You have to be heading back now!" Sheldon warns.

"Did you manage to hear everything we were saying?" Bradford questions.

"Loud and clear, we even recorded the whole thing!" Ami answers.

"We found a disturbing lack of violence and heading slamming, but we got lots of good info in exchange, so I guess this was worth the trouble!" Sheldon adds.

"Blame that on NiceGuy McLet's-just-talk-it-out over here! I could've cracked his skull 3 different ways while you talked him down." he says as he gets up.

You follow suit, "But would have gotten even 1 answer out of him? Yeah, I thought not, let's go."

"Lucky bastard..." Bradford shoots a glare his way on the way out.

"Good luck to you both, you'll need it." He wishes you as you both exit the room.

Then, as he's left all alone in what now amounts to his holding cell, he returns to praying as he speaks to himself once more.

"For this battle...And the many that will follow you suit because of it..." He whispers.

You and Bradford quickly return to the briefing room, both of you already feeling annoyed and worn out before the real mission even begins.

As you two walk into the room, many expectant eyes fall on the both of you, “Were able to gain any new information from the messenger?” Alice questions.

You pinch the bridge of your nose, “Ask the twins, they recorded the whole thing, they’ll tell you how it went.”

Okabe laughs, “Too tired to tell us yourself? Did our friend give you both hell?”

“In a fucking handbasket! I didn’t even get to beat anyone’s ass to top it off!” Bradford grumbles as the both of you retake your seats.

“Don’t worry about that, if the info you two gained was worth the wait, you’ll have more than your share of ass to beat so enough.” Jesper promises as the Twins come up and explain everything you learned.

Jesper looks impressed with what he hears, “Well I’ll be damned, you actually got some good info out of that bastard. You two are more persuasive than you look.”

“Course we fucking are! We just gave the fucker the good cop, bad cop act, me being the badass bad cop and him being the good-two shoes good cop!” Bradford exclaims.

“You were less a badass bad cop and more of a bloodthristy police hound, considering I had to put you on a leash half the time.” you counter.

Bradford laughs, “Even if that’s true, I can still be a badass dog! Start calling me Mcgruff cause I’m gonna to take a bite out of crime!”

“Nah, yer more an old yeller, complete with rabbids and a shotgun!” Reynauld laughs.

“Call yourself Mcgruff, old yeller or even Red Rover for all I care, we got good info and I’d say we’re about ready to head out on the mission, we’ve wasted enough time I’d say.” Jesper says as he updates the documents with your new info.

Alice nods, “You’re exactly right, then allow me to reiterate the plan one last time before we move out.”

“The mission is simple, we have two major objectives: 1.Elimanate hostile forces and 2.Recuse the hostages. For the first stage 4 squads will be deployed along with 1 sniper and spotter for aid. The leaders of each squad have been chosen based on their skillsets but are still subject to change before we move out.” She explains as the squad leaders are presented on the board.

On board displays 4 familiar faces, yours included, under two columns, one indicating those to deal with Hostage recuse and those who are dealing with threat elimination.

“For Hostage rescue we have chosen Derrick holums and Augustus Landon! For Threat elimination we have chosen Vanilla Clayton and Telfour Bradford! And Flourette Rutland will act as Sniper along with Literalli Whu acting as a spotter!” Alice points to the screen to confirm.

There’s a stirring in the audience over the choices, but Alice ignores them and continues, “Everyone else not selected in the first stage will join in the Second stage. Clean-up. Once the gates have been opened, anti-air disabled and hostages rescued, you’ll all be free to wreak havoc and destroy all remaining enemies.” Alice says with a smile.

That riles the audience up with excitement, “Oh hell yeah! Now crazy stuff like this is what it means to be a Hunter!” one man shouts.

“So we’ll be going in helicopters and tanks with the military? Sounds like this mission will be a clean sweep. Let’s get rolling!” Another exclaims.

“But wait, what about the nuke? We can’t charge in their if no disarms the ticking time bomb!” a person advises.

Alice nods, “Don’t worry about that part of the mission, we have a specialist coming to join the agents of the 1st stage to deal with the bomb.”

Those words confuse the crowd, you included, “A specialist? Like a bomb removal expert or something?” someone questions.

“You can say that, he’s an expert in many fields. But it would be best if the man himself came to explain. He should be ready by now.” Alice states.

“Yeah I’m ready, just had to catch a quick nap, my nerves would be frayed otherwise.” A new yet strangely familiar voice comes from the back of the room.

“Hm? Wait...” You look back to see a tall man, suited up from in a very advanced, powerful looking set of armor that covers everything up to his head in face obscuring gear.

Okabe looks annoyed, “You were asleep this whole time? You missed the de-brief.”

He scratches the back of his head and speaks in a flaky voice, “Oh these boring briefings are always the same, you guys babble on and on to explain a mission that can be summed up with ‘walk in, shoot anyone who isn’t tied and maybe rescue some people along the way.’”

He stretches the tiredness from his arms, “Why waste time listening to this snore-fest when I can actually be snoring in my room instead?” he states as he walks up unto the stage with the others.
>>
(Wait, that lazy, half-assed way of talking...It can’t be…) you begin to figure out who he is.

Okabe shakes his head, “I swear to God you’re as lazy as a sloth and almost as dumb-looking too Au...Au..Um…”

“By God, you still manage to forget my name huh O-Kay?” The man laughs.

“The only thing I can remember is how much you piss me off.” Okabe counters. clealy upset at the nickname.

“Well let me remind you again. It’s Austin.”

“Austin Yardley.” Austin states.

“...!” It takes everything to stifle the gasp that escapes your throat.

“Give me some good memories of you and maybe I’ll remember your name as something other than That one asshole” Okabe insults.

“Something tells me you wouldn’t stop calling me that even if I gave you good memories.” Austin laughs.

However, as the two of them go at it on stage, your heart fills with anxiety and mind with confusion, (Austin...That really is Austin right? My childhood friend? The same one who fought alongside me in Carpe Diem...and went blind and deaf because of me…)

(Well, he doesn’t seem so blind and death anymore, he can hear and see just fine as far as I can tell? How the hell is he doing that? His...retina and eardrums were burnt away burnt away by acid...so he shouldn’t be able to…) you wonder.

You shake your head, (No, more importantly, he’s working with Soren now right? That’s what the chairman said.) you recall the words of the chairman from 3 days ago.

They and a few others here hold the true power around here. They are regents in a sense, deployed by Soren to act as his agents and watchdogs against me.

(He’s an agent of Soren now and that makes him…)

That's simple, Derrick, I wish to ask for your cooperation...in eliminating them.

You narrow your eyes as you look up to him, (...An enemy…) his helmet obscures his face, making impossible to read his expression, you wonder what he looks like, after all these years you’ve been apart.

“Fine, fine! I’ll take my job more seriously. I’ll attend the boring meetings and listen to a bunch of old men blab, that alright with you? O-kay?” He half listens to Okabe scolding him on stage before brushing him off.

He shakes his head, “You weren't listening to a word I said were you? I swear I’m going to forget we’re on the same side one of these days and shoot you the first chance I get.”

“Then I just have to make sure you never forget me, seems like a piece of cake when you’re so easy to annoy.” He taunts.

“Errr….” Okabe groans.

“This flaky guy is going to disarm a nuke? Are they sure he won’t sleep on the job?” One woman asks in the audience.

“Forget being blown away by the nuke, he might just get nuked first by Okabe and others, he so casual with them…” Another one whispers.

“Just who is this guy? Is this an out of season April fools joke or something?” Someone asks.

Jesper sighs, “I wish it was, but no, this man is commander of the Anti-Terror Unit or ATU, privately contracted soldiers provided by Moon Medicines who help us with missions a bit too large scale for a few agents to handle.”

“The men that will be making up the additional members of your squad will also include these men. They aren’t as powerful as you all, but they’re well-trained and well disciplined.” Alice explains.

“Unlike our friend here.” Okabe adds.

“Give me a break O-Kay? I thought we were cool O-kay. I’m just trying to be friendly O-Kay?”

Okabe grits his teeth, “Will you knock it off with that nickname? I swear you think you're so damn clever but that's not funny, just annoying as hell!”

“What nickname? I’m just saying O-kay. Isn’t it O-Kay? Are you not O-Kay, O-Kay?” He taunts.

“Keep it up kid, I’ll lobotomize you via a 50 cal round.” He threatens as Austin laughs.

(I can see at least personality wise he hasn’t changed, he still does nothing but piss off his superiors every change he gets.) In a strange way that makes you happy.

Others, like Dillion on the other-hand, are just confused, “Wait that means we’re working with Non-Hunters on this mission? That’s strange…”

“What money-bags? Don’t tell me you’re above the help, I’m sure there’s a worker’s union or two that will disagree with ya there.” Reynauld counters.

“No you deprecating lout, the help is welcome, it’s just weird that this is the first time I’m hearing this Unit exist...My Father has direct ties to everything that goes on in the Organization, so I should know of them…” He wonders.

“Maybe yer paps just ain’t as knowledgeable as he seems, don’t think to hard about it money-bags, you may hurt one of yer dainty brain cells.” He laughs.
>>
Dillion shoots a glare Reynauld’s way but keeps quiet as Alice speaks again, “Austin will be assigned to disarming the bomb, that is the one detail that will remain unchanged!" She announces.

Flourette then raises her hand, Alice points to acknowledge her, "Not to deny that man's skill, but could you tell me why he alone is assigned to such an important task? We surely have plently of other bomb experts that could do his work just as well!" She questions.

"Well Mrs.Maid, if you want a corporate answer, it's because people higher up the chain ordered that I do it." Austin answers.

(People higher on the chain? What does that mean?) you question internally, not daring to ask aloud.

"If you want an honest, it's cause I've been slacking on getting operations done and the higher ups are threatening to cut my pay if I don't go out and do something, so just let me have this alright?" He asks.

"Well...if you say so..." You can tell Flourette isn't satisfied with such an answer, but knows better than to question anymore.

"Aside from Mr.Yardley's sub-par manners and even more disgraceful work ethic, you will notice the armor he's has donned." Alice announces.

"You guys never miss the chance to take a jab at me huh?" Austin notices but Alice ignores him.

"This suit is known as the Hunter High-stress Combat Uniform or HHCU, they are high-tech combat suits developed by the Ethical Engineering and have a variety of models and features!" Alice explains.

As she does so, 3 more men climb unto the stage, all wearing the different suits of armor,

Alice present them to you, "These are the models you get to choose from. First we have the assault model, which has a stronger focus on being well-rounded in areas of attack and defense." she explains.

"It also has the benefit of being able to carry loads of extra-equipment with you, such as grenades or special rounds." She explains as she points to the man in the middle.

Okabe points to the man on the left, "Second we have the defensive model, which has much stronger anti-ballistic capabilities, including an in-built riot shield that can be folded in and folded out at will.

"It also has armor so thick that anything less than 50 cal can barely scratch. It's a bit bulkly though, so don't run around too much in it." He explains.

Jesper points to the man on the right, "The last one is the stealth model, with a focus on speed and maneuverability, that piece of hardware is perfect for quick rushes and quick escapes and is even capable of becoming invisible, if only for a few seconds." He explains.

"The armor around it is a little weak though, so if you do get hit, make sure it's not anywhere vital." He adds on.

"All you will supplied with one of these armor sets for this mission, they all have their ups and downs, so choose only what's best for your fighting style!" Alice advises.
>>
The audience is elated at the sight of all this new equipment,

"Is this what they call fringe benefits? Western technology certainly is very advanced..." Flourette says, completely amazed.

"That heavy armor is great for prolonged combat, but the assault one would deal more damage, hmmm, I can't decide..." Literalli Whu struggles to make a choice.

"Alright, I'll take the assault one with a flashbang, stun grenade, smoke grenade, HE Rounds for my shotgun, as many frag grenades as I have pouches and, and-" Bradford is like a child in toy store where his parents told him to get whatever he wanted, don't mind the price.

Though if you had a choice, you would personally pick...

>The assault armor, well rounded stats (+5 to all rolls) and allows you to carry special equipment (Can equip up to 3 special rounds, like elemental arrows or grenades, such as flashbangs that stun enemies or frags that deal damage to groups of enemies.)

>Defensive model has high defense in exchange for evasion (+10 to defense rolls, -5 to evasion rolls and no bonus to attack) has a riot shield that can be deployed, (Capable of blocking 100% damage when successfully blocking)

>Stealth model, brings high evasion in exchange for lesser defense (+10 to evasion rolls, -5 to defense rolls) allows one to temporarily go invisible in combat, (Once activated, gives the user a free attack with +15 to the roll, can only be used once per fight)

Alright, looks like assault armor wins, now to save you all extra time it to reach the choice, let me also ask you what kind of equipment you want to take along.

>Elemental arrows: Fire (Does an extra 10% damage to armor) poison (can apply effect that takes 5% of enemy's life per round) or Electric (Can stun enemies for a round).

>Grenades: Flashbang (Can stun enemies for a round and Lowers their attack by %10), Sharpnel grenades (Can cause the enemy to bleed for 10% of their life per round) frag grenade (Deals explosive damage and does 10% additional to armor)

You can only pick 3 types of equipment and you get a maximum of 3 uses each out of all of them.

Also as a side note, you can convert all those roll numbers in the previous post to percentages, it's easier to scale that way.

Alice then calms the crowd down as she speaks, "Once the mission begins, all of you may head to the armory and collect your armor and weapons." She explains.

"Also, for the squads that will be following you into battle, they'll be wearing similar gear to you, but if you want, you can change their equipment as well if you think it's better for the mission." Okabe adds.

"for now, let us go over the plan one final time to ensure everyone is satisfied." Alice announces.

I'm unsure about how exactly to proceed, we know Landon is one of (((THEM))) so it's always possible he might go rogue to get our appearance or some shit.
In fact, fuck this, FUCK LANDON, switch

While yes I hate metagaming, this is one such case where I would say it doesn't apply, as I have basically revealed Landon's true identity to the player, even if Derrick himself has no idea.

My reason behind doing so shall remain a secret for now, but just know that if you mistrust Landon and wish to have him changed, you're fully justified, shadowrun as you see fit.

Also thanks for the songs, I'll be making full use of them

Everyone nods along and gives their okay to the plan, you as well have no objections.

Alice nods, "No issues? No more question? Good." she confirms

She then sets down the clipboard, gets off the stage and shouts, "Then let the operation begin! We don't have much time! Agents of the 1st phase, get to the Armory immediately to equip!"

Landon giggles, "Oh, your voice is as smooth as butter but cracks like a whip! I just love a commanding woman..." He compliments.

Someone bumps his elbow, "Hey man, be careful with trying to get into her pants, I hear she's a horse down there."

"Oh really? Then maybe I should show her my horse wrangling skills, I'm sure she'd be impressed." He counters.

The man looks disturbed, "Uh dude, you do know I mean she's got a huge di-"

"I know what I said." He declares as he gets up from his seat and moves out.

Flourette gives a wry laugh, "So it is that I am to return to being a sniper...And here I thought that part of my life was over, but perhaps I cannot escape what I was always meant to be..."

Noell then flicks the side of her head, "Yeowch! Why Young master!?" she asks.

"You said something idiotic so I punished you for your stupidity. Don't talk about what you are from what you aren't, for the truth is you are my servant and nothing else." He explains.

"Since we both work for this Organization, their orders are also my orders. And my orders are to be done by you, so just think of this as fulfilling your duty." He states.

"Young master..."

"So don't overthink things, your walnut brain can't handle thinking above your station." He insults.

"A-Ah, right, of course." She nods.

"Now be off, let's us meet on the battlefield. I trust you will not fall before we meet once more?" Noell asks as he gets up, blade in hand.

She then smiles, "You have nothing to worry about young master, I shall do as the servant does and fulfill my orders..."

She then brandishes her long rifle and gets up from her seat, "...To the best of my ability."

"Good luck buddy, don't die before I get my re-match." Watts wishes of Whu.

"You'd best hope I lose an arm or two in combat if you ever hope to beat me." He berates as he gets up.

he laughs, "I'm actually hoping you lose your legs so you can't hop your high-horse anymore."

"Thanks for the well wishes, I'll be sure to ride my steed right through battle and trample your ass while I'm at it." He smiles as he walks away.
>>
"First job's a big one huh? I knew working for this place would be a pain in the neck but, but ugh..." Vanilla complains.

Peachnia slaps her in the back, "Hey buck up bitch! We've got some crazy shit to do! You're bashing that Anti-air site or whatever right? You've got a plan for that?" She asks.

She laughs, "You bet your extra-caked up ass I do. Don't worry about me, I'm going to show these bunch of pansies what real terrorism looks like." She says as she gets up.

"Well you best be quick bout it, cause I'm rolling in on an Apache to really fuck shit up!" She exclaims.

"Oh don't worry, I'll leave a SAM over for you." She says.

"Who's Sam? Is he hot?" Peachnia question.

"Oh he's hot alright. Hot and ready to blow up in your face." She says as she walks away.

Bradford taps you on the shoulder, "Move out time man, let's go!" he shouts.

"You don't need to tell me twice. But a question, you do know this a stealth mission right?" You ask.

"Yeah, why?" he questions.

"You know that means being quiet, sneaky and patient right?" you ask.

"Yes fucker! I know what being stealthy means!" He shouts.

"Something tells me you really don't...Look, just promise me that you won't do anything too crazy okay, your mission is to eliminate threats, not level the base, are you listening?" you ask.

"Yep! So I'm supposed to do some real crazy shit and level the base to get rid of threats right!? Got it!" He answers.

"Jesus you only got one part of it right...Whatever, just don't fuck around too much okay?" you ask.

"Yes Sir!" He exclaims as you head out and begin the mission.

>3 hours later...

Time: February 1st, 6:08 PM, Sunset

Location: Yourbia, Venada State, 100 meters away from McZalin Airfield base, Sing-long River

You along with 7 other men making up your squadron sit on the edge of dingy boat, put on wet-suits and wear thick scuba masks, adjacent to you, Landon and his squad of men do the same as thing on their boat.

You hear the buzzing of river dragon-flies whizzing by your ears, pair that along with the fact that scuba mask you're wearing chafes when you breathe in and you can't help but adjust it and you've got a very annoying combo.

"Please stop playing with your mask, Sunny-D, you might break something." Landon scolds over the radio, his voice blasting right into your earpiece, making it impossible to ignore.

"Give me a break, I don't go diving every Sunday alright Foxy? I'm not used to putting tubes and stuff in my mouth." You shoot back using his codename over the radio.

"Oh please there are far worse things you can put in your mouth, don't be such a baby." Landon counters.

"Yeah, I guess you'd know." You wisecrack.

"Mission hasn't even started and the Captains are already fighting? Our teamwork is looking great!" One of the men, you don't remember his name, jokes over the radio.

"You think this is us fighting? Man you haven't seen shit yet!" Bradford laughs over the radio.

"Boomstick, get the hell off this frequency, shouldn't you be breaking into the compound with Cyclops?" You ask.

Vanilla groans at sound of her nickname, "Goddamn it, I can't believe they gave us such shit code-names, I mean cyclops? Really, why do always focus on the one-eye!? Like I need the fucking reminder!" She complains.

"At least you aren't named after a dead brand, can you two focus on your mission and just leave us alone?" You ask.

"Oh yes, I would adore some alone time with you Sunny, how nice of you to invite me." Landon teases.

"You know what nevermind, keep me company till I get away from this pervert." You beg.

"Can you all please stop playing around, the mission is already afoot, we do not have time to waste." From some, 600 meters away, on a nearby hill over-looking the compound, Flourette scolds you all.

"Yeah, yeah, no need to remind us we've got shit to do Poppins." Vanilla dismisses.

"We can all play around after work, for now, all of us have jobs to do, don't forget that." Whu, also on the hill with Flourette, also gives you a hard time.

"Uh, sorry to interrupt, but who was that last guy on the Com? I don't remember him joining us." A squad member asks.

Whu laughs, "Just call me Wall-flower solider and you'd best remember me, cause I'm the guy who's going to be telling whether there's an enemy at your back or not."

"Wall-Flower, right, I'll try to remember that..." You can tell from his voice alone that he's already forgetting again.
>>
After that little banter session, Landon and his crew finally finish equipping their diving gear.

"Alright! Lubbed up and I'm ready for you all anytime!" Landon brazenly exclaims.

"Jesus Foxy stop trying to put images like those in our heads, we're already all scared shitless going into this place without you topping it off!" You scold

"Oh god, too late...The image has already been burned in..." One of the men complains.

"Sorry boys, sorry! I was just lighten the mood and waste some time till our late guest gets here." Landon explains.

"Well don't worry about that, I'm already in position to begin." Austin announces.

"What, seriously asshole? We've been waiting for you to respond to start Sloth!" Vanilla complains.

"Sorry, you bunch are just so fun to listen to you bicker I couldn't bring myself to interrupt. You guys are free to move out now." He states.

"Alright, guess that means it work time for real, good luck dumbasses, you'll need it." Vanilla says as she switch to a different frequency.

"Watch your back Sunny! With terrorists at your front and Foxy at your back, your ass is in danger in more ways than one!" Bradford laughs as switches off.

"God those pricks just say the dumbest shit..." you grumble.

"Exactly! I pose no threat to your backside Sunny! if anything, your rear end is safe with me, I'll be sure to watch it extra-carefully" He promises.

"I just had to get paired with you..." You complain, this is already becoming a headache.

"Me and Wallflower will be switching frequencies to inform you of any enemies we see, so don't switch frequencies suddenly okay?" Flourette asks.

"Also be sure not to give us garbage info when we ask for a sit-rep, We're your guardian angels but we aren't all-knowing, we can't save your asses if you don't tell us what's going on." Whu informs.

"We got it, switching off, hear back soon. Out." You state as you turn off the radio.

"Well it seems everything is ready." Landon says directly to you rather then over the radio.

"Yeah, let's get rolling everyone." You say to everyone in both boats.

With that, you all cross your arms, slowly fall backward into the water.

Splash!

A quiet splash noise that gets muffled as you fall deep into the water rings in your ear for a moment as you sink.

The already weak rays of light warp and die out as you head deeper into the dark river water.

After a few more seconds of descent, when you're nice and far from sight from anyone on the surface that can spot you, you and everyone in your squad correct yourselves and begin swim over to the other bank.

>10 minutes later...

After a long, slow swim across the long river, you and Landon's Squads get inches away from the bank, where unlike the rest of the desert that surrounds it, is quite a bit more grassy, with lots of large foliage growing along the edges.

As you get closer and closer to bank, you all rear your heads up like a bunch of crocodiles stalking their prey and look to the bank to watch for any enemy activity.

And you were right to, right along the bank's edge, you spot 2 men, standing right at the rivers edge looking out, the only reason they don't see you is the fact that the sun has already crested and the black night hides your black wetsuits and masks.

behind those men, you spot 4, maybe 5 other armed men, all wearing shawls, patrolling up and down the river's edge.

pulling your head up a bit more so your mouth is in open air, you speak in a whisper, "Looks like they placed patrols along the river-side because they expected attack."

Landon responds, "Smart. As expected of a former military veteran, he's thought of all possible angles of attack. Just as we thought, this won't be easy. I hope the others are doing okay..."

"Worry about our situation right now, we need to get past these guys if we want to get to the perimeter fence around the compound. Any of you got any suggestions?" you ask.

"Well captain, these guys are patrolling the whole river in case of attack right? That must mean they have to move considering there are a number of other places we could hit. So if we just wait, they'll probably leave." one squadmate suggests.

"Yeah real bright idea, and how long will it take for these assholes to move? We're running on a clock here, we can't afford to wait around." Another squad member counters.

"I was just suggesting that so we can avoid wasting ammo on an unnecessary fight, sorry man." The squadmate states.

"Taking down terrorist is never a waste of ammo, we have 16 men, they've got around 8 standing there, if we're quick, we can take them all down without making too much noise." he suggests.

"Now quiet down you two, fight the enemy, not each other." Landon states.

"Well which do you think we should do captain?" one of them asks.

"I personally think we should just take them down while we have the advantage, but I'm fine with waiting, what do you think Sunny?" He asks.

You think the squad should...

>Sit and wait for the patrol to pass and sneak in afterwards.

>Engage the enemy now while they're unaware.

"I'd say it's best we let them just pass by, we don't need to get into any unnecessary fights, save ammo, time and lives." You state.

"Hear that man, both the captains say my idea is pretty bright." The man gloats.

"Whatever, don't say I didn't warn you alright, we've only got 6 hours to before we all get fucking vaporized by an M-Rose." The other man complains.

"Stop complaining, decision already been made, for now, get quiet and prepare to wait..." you order.

>30 minutes later....

You all continue to float and wait for the this group of men to move away, however, let statues, they stay planted in place, unmoving and uncaring of how much time passes.

"Hey Captain....I'm starting to get wrinkles in my hands...my body...my soul..." One squadmate complains.

"You're wearing a wet-suit dumbass you can't get wrinkles. They're made to keep all water out." Another man counters.

"Doesn't stop this water from being cold as shit, I swear my balls have shriveled up and got sucked back into my body." He complains.

"Oh really? If you're having trouble down there, I'd be more then happy to pull them back out." Landon offers.

"Uhhh, thanks but no thanks Captain, forget I said anything, I'd rather not get my balls pinched out..." The man quickly stops complaining.

"Well okay, still though, they are taking a long time to move...It couldn't be they've noticed have they?" Landon asks.

"If they had, we'd be filled with holes by now, they've just really dug their heels in here." You answer.

"Well they need to hurry the fuck up and dig them out, I swear, can one of these fuckers at least take a quick trip to the bathroom or something so we can slip past?" one man asks.

"You know if they did that, they'd probably piss right on our heads." One man states.

"Well in that case, someone's balls are getting pinched off for real." He threatens.

"They have to move at some point, let's not get impatient, we have time..." you state.

>10 minutes later...

You and your squad keep waiting and waiting, but absolutely no change occurs, the men have barely even shifted positions even though they've been standing there for over 40 minutes now.

"Oh my fucking God, when are they going to move, I'm tired of swimming in this goddamn river we don't have time for this shit...!" You barely resist shouting.

"What happened to staying patient oh Captain?" One squadmate questions.

"I made that choice because I thought these fucks would get bored in 20 minutes and fuck off. Now that it's come to this, we might as well move in and take them on-"

BOOOOOOOOOM! DAKAKAKAKAKAKA!

"Huh?" it's as you begin to lose your cool that something finally happens.

From inside the compound, a roaring explosion, one so loud and bright that you can hear and see it even from your location blares out, alongside it, you hear the ringing of gunfire all over the place, absolute chaos has broken out in the base.

Noticing this the stationary men finally get a move on, retreating into the base to check out the commotion, freeing the bank and finally allowing both your squads to move in.

You all come ashore, bewildered and confused, "Well shit...that works." A man comments.

"Uh, Captain, you got any idea what's going on?" One squad member asks you.

"I want to say I don't, but I've got a pretty good idea who did this...I'm pretty sure that it's one of our allies." You admit.

As you all land ashore, you pull off backpacks that stored your actually gear and weapons, you and men get equipped as they speak,

"Wasn't this supposed to be a stealth mission? Just asking cause I'm pretty sure what's happening over there is anything but stealthy..." One man comments.

"Oh goddamn it..." You growl out as you pinch the bridge of your eyes.

Landon, fully equipped in his stealth armor approaches you, "Hey Sunny, you don't think it was him do you?" he asks.

"Oh I don't think it, I fucking know it was him..." You say as you turn back on your radio and switch over to the other frequency, "Hello, Boomstick?" you call.

BANG! BANG! DAKAKAKAAKAK! BANG![/b]

As you do so, you hear the sound of gunfire ringing from all around as Bradford answer, "Sunny!? What are you doing on this frequency!?" he asks in-between firing his shotgun.

"Oh nothing much, just checking in on your status." you say calmly.

"Well if you can't tell, I'm in the middle of some deep shit! Appreciate the call but it would be nice if you came back later!" he asks.

"Oh okay, sure. Just answer me this one question, okay?" you state.

It's then you let the rage you were holding back pour out, "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO!?" you shout violently.

"Nothing! I didn't do anything....Okay maybe I did do something! But it wasn't just me! Vanilla started it!" He explains.

"That doesn't answer the fucking question! What happened!? Sit-rep dumbass! Explain what went down!" you order.

You hear him blast out two more shots as he speaks, "Can't talk right now, deal with you scolding later! Out!"

He cuts off the radio just like that, "Don't you fucking hang up on me! Goddamn it! Oh I'm going to kill his ass, if he doesn't get dropped I swear I'll kill him..." you grumble.

As whisper out curses and death wishes, one of your squadmates runs up to you, "Captain! We've cut a hole in the fence, we're ready to infiltrate the base now!" he reports.

"Can this even be called an infiltration? Shit's already FUBAR..." you shake your head.

Landon taps your shoulder, "Well look at the bright-side, with all the hell being raised, we'll have an easier time sneaking into the barracks. worry about our mission first right?"

"Right, Right..." You're more then a little angry, but you have a mission to complete and you can't stop now.

With that in mind, you and Landon move into the compound and make your way to the barracks...

Bradford and Vanilla's mission was the most simple of the expansive operation, but was also the one that left the most room for action.

With no hostages to recuse or bombs to disarm, all they had to do was break-in, find their target locations and try to eliminate their targets as silently as possible.

The plan was sound and the two fighters were more then experienced enough to pull it off, However, there was one that was accounted for.

That the both of these agents hated doing things quietly, the idea of moving in and completing the mission peacefully and intelligently bored them to death.

And so the result of leaving them alone with no one to control their destructive tendencies was only a natural one...

>20 minutes prior to Derrick's infiltration...

After finding his way into the Compound, Bradford and his men had made their way over to the gate, unnoticed by the waves of shawl-clad men that patrolled the area.

The 8 men were lying belly-down on a dirt patch nearby, but hidden away from the gate outpost as they observed it and what an outpost it was.

Stockaded by Sandbags and corralled by barded wire, men covered every inch of the outpost watching for any attempts by the military to invade.

Doing a head-count revealed at least 50 men all armed and armored within the small fortress, their eyes focused and watchful for threats, one of the men was even stationed on a heavy machine gun, it's barrels ready to spin and rips apart anything that approaches it to the tune of over 1000 rounds per minute.

Looking upon this castle of death, Bradford whistled, "Hot damn, they have this place locked the fuck down! you'd need a tank, maybe two to break through that..." he reasons.

"And all we've got is 8 men with a couple grenades and small arms, Captain, are you sure we can do this?" A squadmate asked.

"Don't be a bitch, of course we can fucking break this down! I'm worth 3 tanks alone motherfucker!" you boast.

"Yeah but the rest of us are normal guys, we run into that fight and we'll get turned to mincemeat by that MG..." One man counters.

"Being scared of one little machine gun, you bunch of pansies...fine, let's ask our scouts to help us out!" you propose as you switch channels.

"Hey Poppins and Wallflower, my men are feeling a little coy about charging head-first into a machine gun encampment, do you see anything we can use to get around these guys?" you ask.

"Anything you can use? Well let's see...I don't see anything too useful around there..." Whu states.

"I do, directly adjacent to the encampment, you can see the central hanger for the base." Flourette suggests.

"I'm sure's a multitude of tools in that hanger that can be used to break through that encampment, be forewarned though, I count at least 10 men guarding the area, I doubt you can get in without alerting the other men to your presence." Flourette explains.
>>
"What the-You can make that all our from here? I'm struggling just to tell which building is which..." Whu admits.

"Don't feel too bad, I have pretty good eyes, it was only luck really." She states.

"Being able to identify not only the building's type, but the exact number of men around it with nothing but a basic sniper scope takes more then pretty good eyes..." He counters.

"Well I just have a lot of experience in this role, focus on the mission for now." Flourette explains.

"You got it." Whu concedes.

Ignoring the two of them talking, Bradford wondered how he was going to break into that hanger, "Hmmmm, I could blast all of those fuckers away in less than a minute, but the noise would piss everyone else off and there are too many of them for you guys to pick off...Hmmmm..." he contemplates.

"Hey Captain, maybe we could make some kind of distraction? Something to draw the guys at the hanger away?" One man suggests.

Bradford slaps him on the back, nearly clapping out all the air in his lungs doing so, "That's it! Great idea random Joe#1! That's why you're the best random!"

"Uh, Captain, could you please stop calling us Random joe? We have names you know, plus I'm not even Random joe#1, I'm #5..." He complains.

"Shut up Random Joe#6! I'm making a call here!" You shut him down.

"Hahhh they don't pay us enough for this..." He complains.

"Yo! Cyclops, I know you're busy and all, but I could use a quick distraction and I know how you're good at pissing people off-"

"Shhhhhh shut it dumbfuck...Unlike you guys, me and my men are actually doing work..." Vanilla whispers as she and her squad have already broken into the Anti-air operation center.

They took out the guards at the entrance and cleared their way inside, now they all stand side by side to the doors to the main control room, ready to attack, but hesitant because of the 20 or so men inside the room.

"See that! You piss me off without even trying! That's why I need you! If you can just do something to distract these guys, I can finish my job too!" He explains.

"Will you fuck off...Wait, you know what..." That's when an idea strikes her.

"Yeah, I'll help you out, I'll get you a distraction, just let me clear this room out first..." She cuts off the radio.

"What shall we do madam? Move in?" One of your men ask you.

How will you break in?

>Shield's out, send in the squadron first and clear the room as quickly as possible.

You grab two flashbangs from one of your pouches, seeing this, your squadmates quickly realize your plan and turn away their eyes as one of them moves over to the door and creaks it open.

You pull the pin to the flashbangs as you speak, "We're going in their like thunder and lightning, first we flash..."

You then toss the grenades into the room.

"Huh? Did anyone else hear that?" One of the shawled men takes his eyes off the screen controlling the SAM Sites as he notices the grenades rolling silently over to the bulk of their group.

BANG! BANG! However the man was too late in noticing, an explosion of light paired with an ear-piercing sound rings out, blinding, disorienting and sending everyone in the room stumbling around like a bunch of headless chickens.

"And now we hit them with the bang!" You brandish your special rifle, Lir in rifle form as you and your men kick in the door and rush right in.

DAKAKAKAKAKAKA! Rings the sound of rifle fire as your men don't hesitate to gun down the first person they see.

With the men in the room being blinded and having no way to retaliate or avoid the damage, they are unceremoniously shredding and filled with holes before dropping to the ground.

You rack up quite a few kills yourself, dropping at least 4 men with precise fire.

It's only after 12 of the men in the room have been eliminated does the stun effect finally diminish.

"Gah-You...focus! We're being attacked!" One of the men snaps out of the stun and quickly takes cover while re-grouping what remains of their unit.

They then quickly return fire, opening at you with their own rifles while they pull back.

You dash and slide into cover, avoiding a hail of gunfire while your men Brandish their built in shields.

DING! DING! DING! Just as they said in the briefing, the shields block rounds from small arms like rifles like it's nothing, the bullets bounce off the men without dealing even a scratch of damage.

"Man, those fucks in EE maybe Country-ruining monsters, but damn if they don't make good gear!" You compliment as you watch the spectacle.

It's then one of your squadmates rushes beside you and ducks into cover, "Madam! What do we do now!? It's only a matter of time till the enemy notices this skirmish!"

"That's the point dummy." You berate as you pull out something from your various pouches.

"What Madam!?" The man exclaims.

"If you weren't listening earlier, our friend by the gate needs a distraction to help break-in, so that's what we're doing, put on a show for the enemy..." You explain as you tap away at a collection of keys on on the object in your hand.

"That's a terrible idea Madam! They have over a 1000 troops in this place, we'll be surrounded and killed!" He counters.

"That's only if we don't make a glorious escape first!" It's then you hit the enter key on the object and a countdown begins.

"Escape!? How are we going to-wait, what that's in your hand Madam?" he asks.

He refers to the large, brick like object you've been typing away on, "This thing? Oh it's just a little home concoction of fuel, a couple of munition charges, maybe a little thermite..." you list off.

"Wait, isn't that an FAE!?" He quickly realizes.

You can't help but laugh as the countdown on it ticks down from to 10 seconds, "Order the men to retreat outside the room my friend, this place is about to become a fireworks show."

As you say that, you toss the FAE into the air, let it fly through a hail of bullets where it is very nearly detonated early, however it manages to land dead-center in the room safely untouched.

"Everyone! Retreat! Now!" You and your squadmates dash from the room, all of you laying down suppressing fire to keep the enemy from shooting or realizing the hole they've dug themselves in.

As soon as you've all escaped the room, you slam the door shut behind you as you men form up a wall of shields and duck down.

You dive behind that wall of shields as the men inside the room regroup,"They retreat to our ferocity brothers! Let us chase those heathens down and show them the wrath of God-!"

As they chant and rave, thinking they've driven you back, they don't even notice as the charge counts down.

3...2...1...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

A burning cascade of explosive power burns through the sealed room so quickly the men inside it don't even have a chance to process what's happened to them.

The FAE eats up all the oxygen in the room instantly and quickly turns into burning, expanding inferno of death that easily busts through the sealed door.

"Whoa! Shit that's hot!" The force of the explosion knocks you all off your feet and you even catch fire a little on your arms, one that you quickly slap out.

Once you all get up, you look to see the room is now a just a pit of burning death, it's flames quickly growing to take-over the whole building.

"Jeez, I knew it would be effective, but I didn't think it'd be that effective!" you whistle.

"Oh god, I saw my life flash before my eyes when I saw that blast..." One man groans.

"Ah my arm feels numb, is my arm supposed this numb?" Another questions as he moves his cramped arm.

"I'm never working with this psycho again..." Another complains.
>>
"You bunch of pussies! Man up! That explosion was awesome!" You scold them for their weakness as you turn your radio back on.

"-ello? Hello? Vanilla? Are you there?" Flourette asks.

"Yep, I'm in the house Poppins, though it's a bit on fire right now." you laugh.

"I was just going to ask about that, why is your location currently burning down? Sit-rep please." Whu questions.

"Uh, well, we engaged the enemy, things got a little crazy, I may have blown up a room, maybe two if you count the fire spread." you explain.

"You cannot be serious..." Whu groans.

"Hey man, don't be like that! I completed my mission! The enemy won't be using the SAMs anymore!" you counter.

"And nor will the military, do you know how many millions of Jenny in property damage you caused-Sorry- Are causing right now?" He asks.

"Eh, whatever the Organization will pay for it and they've got tons of dough. Point is, enemy anti-air disabled."

>Mission: Disable Anti-Air control center [Complete]

"Well yes, but now you've kicked the hornets nest, the whole base is abuzz with movement right now." Whu reports.

"Yeah, well that's everyone else's problem, me and my men are clearing out now." You state.

"How do you expect to get out with that many people converging on your location?" Flourette questions.

"Easy, there's about to be an even bigger distraction that our friend Boomstick is gonna drum up that will put mine to shame!" Vanilla predicts.

>Meanwhile, at Bradford's position...

Bradford and his men look over to the burning building, along with all the men rushing over towards it with amusement, "Oh, that bitch is good! now that's a distraction!" he compliments.

Along with all the rushing men, the ones guarding the hanger run off with them, "And that's what we needed! Let's go boys!"

Getting up for hidden little ditch, you and your men sneak over to the hanger and break-in with ease.

The inside of the hanger is lit up clearly and brightly, while the hanger doors are closed, their are still jet-planes and helicopters armed with Gatling guns and rockets.

You drool at the sight of them, "Oh my God! They left me all these fun toys!? That's so nice of them! Almost makes me not want to kill them!"

"Well it would be good if we captured a few to interrogate, so maybe we shouldn't kill them all-"

You smack your squadmate over the head, "I said almost dip-shit! Saying bitch-mode stuff like that is why no one likes you Random Joe#4!"

"I'm number #3! Wait no- I mean my name is-"

"No one cares! I got a brilliant plan to bust through that gate encampment! Follow me boys, we're going to use the..." you trail off as you decide.

What will you do?

>Use the helicopter and it's Gatling guns and rockets to open fire at the encampment

You look over to Helicopter, it's heavy, rounded Gatling guns are locked, loaded and ready to rip a man to shreds, it's rocket carriers are filled with payload ready to be dropped on the nearest unfortunate fool.

It's hull thick and black as night, but even so, it glistens to you in a way you just can't help but smile at, "Oh baby where have you been all my life!? We're taking that for a spin!"you exclaim.

"An attack helicopter? Uh, Captain, you do know this is supposed to be a stealth mission, right?" A squadmate asks.

"Well we haven't been spotted yet have we!? That means we're being stealthy! We're the stealthiest Motherfuckers you'll ever see! Expect you won't! Cause we're stealthy!" You counter.

"Using an attack helicopter is the exact opposite of stealth Captain!" He states.

"Oh no #7, that's what you don't get! Stealth just means don't get spotted! So if we blow everyone up, there will be no one left to spot us!" you reason.

"Whoa...Some serious big brain plays from the Captain..." Your squadmate states.

"I know, I'm a fucking genius! Now a couple of you jump in here with me! The rest of you, get to the hanger door consoles! Wait for my signal!" you order.

While reluctant, your men obey your commands, with 3 of them moving to the helicopter and joining you.

Two of them move into the carrier area and sit in the seats behind there, closing the helicopter doors behind them. The last one joins you in the cockpit.

"Alright captain, the men at the hanger doors are ready, when do we begin?" He asks.

"When I start this thing up and get flying!" you answer.

"Uh, you do know how to fly this thing right?" The man asks, looking down at the helicopter console, it's a mess of buttons and glowing screens that no one but a trained pilot could possibly decipher the meaning behind.

"Nope! But I know how to drive stick and flying a heli can't be too different from that! Heli's are basically flying cars right?" And a trained pilot you are not.

"Of course not Captain! They're totally different! You can't just hop into a helicopter and fly like a car! You might as well just push every button you see and pray that it works, it would amount to same thing!" The squadmate berates.

"Oh, so I just hit every button? Why didn't you say so!!" With that you start slamming away at buttons, pulling levers up and down, hitting everything that looks important.

"Wait! Wait! No, that was just Hyperbole-!" The squadmate shouts, but it's too late, the blades at the top begin to swirl and the helicopter is taking off the ground.

"Ah there we go! See, no different then driving stick, nothing to worry about!" you state.

"This is how you drive a car!? How haven't you been turn't to road kill yet!?"

"Because I'm the one doing all the killing on the road! Now open those doors! " you order.

At your order, the 4 men waiting by the hanger doors move in and open them up, the huge metal gates open up slowly, revealing a runway path used for slow and steady lift off into the black, starry skies above.

"Here we fucking go boys!" You on the otherhand, have a different destination, your aim is what's adjacent to the runway.

So instead of waiting for the doors to slide open, you wait till the doors are open just wide open for you to glide through, you grab the pilot's stick and push it forward, sending you flying forward at top speed.

SRRRRRRRKTT Goes the grinding sound of the helicopter blades shaving at the metal door's edges, narrowly making it through unstopped.

"Slow down! Slow down Captain! You need to-"

"Slowing down is for losers who don't know what they're doing!" you counter.

"But you clearly don't know what you're doing!" He counters.

"That's where you're wrong! I know exactly what I'm fucking doing! I'm about to waste all these motherfuckers!" You say as you pull the helicopter higher into the air and glide over to the gate encampment, zig-zagging and flying wildly the whole way through.

Of course, this means that the men at the encampment notice you immediately, for a moment they're all left dumbstruck as they see a helicopter flying over to them, swerving around in a way that'd make you think it was half-way to crashing.

You laugh as you get in firing range, "Now which one of you fuckers wanna see God? I'm happy to send your ass upstairs?" you question.

Though the men quickly snap out of their confusion and open fire, "Oh!? All of you wanna go!? Alright then!" you grab the stick with a button that controls the weapons and press down on it.

"Let's make it a fucking field trip kiddies!" you shout as your Gatling guns open fire.

https://youtu.be/eyRoXZDtKzo

DAKADAKADAKADAKADAKADAKA From your Helicopter, you rain down fire death upon the 50 men bunched up in the encampment, while your fire is wild and inaccurate, the sheer volume of it catches at 10 men, the power of the guns tearing their limbs off and ripping them to pieces.

That sends the rest of the camp scattering off into cover, behind the sandbags for even a little protection from the rain of death.

"Now don't hide! When Daddy get's his belt, you bend over and take it!" you shout as you tap away at the console randomly.

PSH!PSH!PSH!BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

You manage to hit whatever was controlling the missile carriers, as they fire out like fire-works, crashing down upon the encampment, blowing away the sandbags as well as the men behind them.

You can't get an exact count, but you think at least 15 men got blown away by that volley.

After that, the two men in the back of the helicopter open up the side doors and open fire on the ground, shooting at any person they see fleeing or outside cover.

"Goddamn! The Military get to use crazy shit like this all the time!? Man, maybe I should've joined them instead!" you whistle, impressed yourself at the sheer destruction you're causing.

"You should be glad you didn't! They'd kick you out in less then a day for clear psychological problems!" The squadmates.

"They'd kick me out for being crazy? Oh that's bullshit! What's really crazy is that they make badass stuff like this and expect me not to use it!" You counter.

"Don't take this the wrong way Captain, but I think you need some serious professional help...hm?" The squadmate notices something.

"Oh stop busting my balls! Can't you see everything is-"

"NOT FINE! SHIT! DODGE!" The squadmates shouts pointing outside the glass.

"Huh!?" It's then you notice the heavy machine you spotted earlier, it's heavy barrel pointed up at you.

"OH SHIT!" Is all you can blurt out before a hail of fire is launched at you.

BRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTT Roars the gun, it's heavy fire slamming into your shifting helicopter, tearing through it's hull and breaking apart it's rotatory blades.

"Oh fuck! I'm losing control!" you exclaim.

"You were never in control Captain! Eject! Eject!" Your squadmate says as he kicks open the pilot door and leaps out of it, pulling you with him, the two men in the back following you both suit as they escape the crashing helicopter.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! The crashing vehicle collides with the ground, exploding violently and kicking up a cloud of black smoke.

"AHHHHHHHHHH! OOF!" The four of you go crashing into the ground, landing on your bellies and rolling across the hard pavement.

"Ah shit...Ow...I think I cracked a rib..." A squadmate complains.

"You think a cracked rib is shit? I think I cracked my ass!" You complain.

"It was already cracked Captain..." The four of you slowly pull yourselves off the ground, disoriented from the landing, but otherwise uninjured.

"Damn, good two we were keeping close to the ground, we'd be dead men if we were higher up..." One man states.

"You can thank my amazing flying for that! I told you guys It was just like flying stick!" you state.

"If this is how you drive stick, remind me never to let you take the wheel ever again Captain..." He complains.

"Hey don't be giving me shit! It's thanks to my plan that this encampment just got leveled! I doubt a single fucker survived all that!" you laugh triumphantly.

Slide! Clink! It's then you hear the sound of rifles being primed behind you that you go quiet.

Looking back, the black smoke clears to reveal at least 15 men who survived the aerial assault, all pointing their guns at you, looking very angry.

"How about you say that again sinner?" One of the cultist asks.
>>
You're a little surprised, but you quickly recover, "Heh...okay!"

You throw up your hand to signal attack, all the men you had hidden by the hanger come rushing out and open fire at the remaining fighters, sending them scattering away while returning fire at you.

You run back to cover, pulling out your shotgun as you speak, "I doubt a single one of you fuckers will survive this!"

For a little while, you and your men fire back and forth between the enemies, taking out a man or two in-between skirmishes, but every time you try and press for greater attacks, the heavy MG starts firing again and keeps you locked down.

"Eat shit fuckers!" You pop up again and put two shots to the first man you see.

BANG!BANG! The first shot misses, but the second one pulls through, grounding the man and putting him down, that makes 3 men down and out.

Inspired by this, one of your squadmates pops out of cover as well to fire, targeting an enemy further away and firing.

BRRRRRRRRRT! But just as quickly does the MG manage to swivel around and fire at him, he ducks down just in time to avoid getting his head blown off, but still gets a shot in the arm.

"Ah fuck! Damn! Our Armor stands no chance against that thing!" He notes as he holds the wound.

"Christ that thing is so goddamn annoying! First it takes down my Heli, then it shoots my men! I should give that fucker a taste of his own medicine...Wait, that gives me an idea..." You think.

"Oh god guys! the Captain is thinking again!" One man panics.

"Ah shit, as if this battlefield wasn't chaotic enough..." Another man complains.

"Shut your mouths randoms! I've got yet another brilliant plan! I need you all to cover me, I'm diving into the fray!" you shout as you prepare to get to action.

But then, just before you leap off, you hear something come on over the radio, "Huh, a transmission, hold on a sec guys, gotta take this!"

"Hello, Boomstick?" Derrick's voice comes over the com.

"Sunny!? What are you doing on this frequency!?" you question as you duck your head from gunfire.

"Oh nothing much, just checking in on your status." He states.

"Well if you can't tell, I'm in the middle of some deep shit! Appreciate the call but it would be nice if you came back later!" you ask.

Then Derrick shouts a bunch and says some stuff that you only half-listen to.

After a while, you can tell he's just going to bust your balls, so you make a tactical retreat, "Can't talk right now, deal with you scolding later! Out!"you say you cut off the radio.

"Can we return fire now!?" One squadmate asks.

"Hell yeah you can, give'em all you got!" you shout as you roll over cover and rush in while keeping your body low.

https://youtu.be/uM3TfFXJies

Following your motions, all your men pull over cover and return fire, this confuses and causes the enemy to pull back while firing, Bullets fly in every direction, some coming from your enemies, some from your men, you even fire at any enemy you pass on your way to the MG nest.

Naturally, the MG turns your way, priming itself to fire, "Don't worry Cap! I've got you!" One squadmate cheers as he pulls out a stun grenade from his armor.

He then tosses towards the MG nest, you cover your ears and look down and close your eyes.

BANG! Goes the Stun as it stuns the man behind the MG, causing him to fire wildly in random directions, he manages to hit a few of his allies in the back and nearly guns you down as well.

But you roll out of the way just in time to close the distance between you and him, just as he regains his ability to see straight, the first sight that greets him is the back of your shotgun barrel.

BANG! His head is blown clean off from the point-blank shotgun blast, sending him flying away from the MG, leaving it open for you to take it up in his place.

You grab the gun, pull it up and open fire at the remaining enemies.

DAKADAKADAKADAKADAKA With so deep behind enemy lines, the remaining fighters have no where left to run and their numbers start to dwindle very, quickly.

"Haha! Not so fucking fun when you're on the receiving end huh!?" you laugh as the group of 20 men, quickly becomes 10, then 5 and eventually none.

Once smoke clears and the firing finally quiets down, you stop firing and let the calm settle in.

"That all of them? Feels like that was all of them!" you shout.

"Yes Captain! That was all of them!" One squadmate confirms.

"That means mission complete right? Encampment down!" you shout triumphantly.

>Mission: Destroy the gate Encampment! [Complete]

>Dire objective: Eliminate threats [Cleared]

"Hot damn! That's the most action I've had in my whole Career." One squadmate states.

You laugh as you turn back on your radio, "Follow me into the next mission man and this one will seem like a joke!'

"Yeah, but I think I've had enough action for my whole Career after this, I'm tired..."

"Me too man, jeez, we've done our part, we can exfilrate now right?" They ask.

"Well I guess...Hm, another transmission? Hold on guys." you put your hand to your ear.

"Yo! Boomstick, how are you doing?" Vanilla's voice comes over the radio, in the background you hear the sound of helicopter blades.

"Oh Cyclops? Great! We've just completed our side of the job, where are you?" you ask.

"Getting the fuck out this hellhole is where I am! I suggest you do the same, cause from where I am, I can barely count the number of guys converging on your position!" She informs.

"Wait what!?" One of your squadmates blurts.

"Oh shit she's right! Over there!" One of your men points a finger to rushing squad of 30 men, maybe more coming at you, ready for a fight.

"Oh ho ho my God! Oh yes!" you chant excitedly.

"This is isn't the time to be getting giddy Captain! Let's get out of here!" A man suggests.

You get back on the MG, "If we turned our backs here, we'd just get shot down, our best bet is to hold this fort down!"

"I mean, you're not wrong! But still Captain, there's so many!"

"It's only so many now, a few shots later it will be too few and if you're really worried, don't be! Once the hostages get recused, we'll get back up from the military!" you inform.

"Shit, so we've got no choice but to fight till then!?" They exclaim as they get behind cover, bullets already starting to whizz past their heads.

"Hope you got a lot of ammo boys! We're in for the long haul!" you shout as you re-open fire with the MG.

>Meanwhile on Vanilla's Helicopter...

High in the sky and far, far away from the action, Vanilla and her squad look down at Bradford's as they get into the thick of the battle, fighting what might be the whole base's worth of men.

One of your men shakes his head, "Those poor bastards, I feel for 'em, I wouldn't want to get stuck in that hellscape."

You've taken your helmet off and have already lit up for a smoke as you relax, "Don't worry, they've got that fort and plenty of ammo in it, most of them will make it...I'm pretty sure."

"Still, sucks to be them huh? There's no end to the number of crazy fucks charging them."

You laugh, "The true crazy fuck is one leading them, if they've made any mistake, it was letting fucking Bradford have a leadership role."

"Tell me about it, look how much shit he blew up, even buildings 100s of meters away got pulled in, damn!" One man comments.

"Huh?" Vanilla looks down and sees that he's right, a building distant from the combat zone has been caught aflame.

"Weird...I don't think he started that fire...It's too far away for him to pull it off..." She comments.

"Oh, did we do that then?" he asks.

"No dummy! I'd remember if we started another fire!" You counter.

She then call up Flourette and Whu, "Hey, Poppins, Wallflower, can you tell what building the one burning near Boomstick's position is?"

"Kinda hard to tell now, but I think that's the Weapons lab." Whu answers, The sound of Flourette firing at something rings in the background.

"The Weapons Lab, where that one guy was supposed to go? What does that mean...?" She questions.

"Well doesn't matter now, not our problem anymore."

"That's true, but still that makes me wonder, maybe it was that other guy...What was his name Dustin?" She asks.

"Commander Austin?" One man corrects.

"Yeah him, I haven't heard from him once since the mission began, what's he doing right now...?" you wonder as you fly out of combat.

Location:???

Time: 6:31 PM, Twilight

While chaos reigned and death spread aboveground, something was also transpiring below.

Deep into the Earth, buried and hidden under the ground, there was a room, one steeped in darkness, a room where no light could possible enter or exit and within this room, only 3 things resided.

A Nuclear bomb, it's timer ticking away, closing in on detonation, A single wax candle, it's small light barely cutting through the thick darkness as it flickers and struggles to stay a flame.

And finally, a one man, just meters away from the bomb and the candle, sat on his knees and clasped his hands in prayer.

"Forgive me Lord for I have sinned..." That man confessed into the darkness, his voice alone present in the room.

Above him dust falls, kicked from explosions happening above, shaking the very room, yet he alone remains unshaken as he utters the words.

"Lord, I am your steward, but I am also an agent of Sin. Sloth, greed, Wrath...I am guilty of all of these things and know I have disappointed you..." He states.

"I am sinful of Greed, for I so long ignored your pleas in favor of money and peace, because I was well-fed, I turned a blind eye to the horrors before my eye and for that, Lord I have Sinned..."

"I am sinful of Sloth, for I had seen the country I had once loved fallen to the Devil's temptation and instead of fighting to change it, I had fought alongside it, acting as if I was ignorant of the Evils that I was bringing into the world and for that, Lord I have sinned..."

"I am sinful of Wrath, for I-"

Creak... The man's prayer is interrupted as someone else enters the room he resides in.

"You've caught me at a bad time, I was in the middle of prayer."

"I am sorry Messiah, but I have news..." the new person, a man, clearly in his late 40s steps in and informs.

"You needn't call me by that here Lieutenant Urmaim, the other believes are not around, you can address me as normal." Hendrik allows.

"Is that so? Then Captain Hendrik, I've come to report that invaders have broken into the compound and are currently reeking havoc." he informs.

"Yes, I could tell from the sounds above me, the extent of the damage?" he asks.

"We've lost our Anti-Air capabilities and it's only a matter of time till our Gate encampment falls as well." He informs.

BANG!BANG!BANG! Behind them, the distant sound of gunfire approaches.

Urmaim perturbance at the sound is palpable, "Also, one of the invaders has broken into the lab and I fear we don't have the strength to stop him..."

Hendrik sighs, "So it seems our long fight is coming to an end then? This will truly be our final stand..."
>>
The despair that reaches the man's eyes is almost darker than the room they stand in.

"Don't say that Captain! We've come this far! Survived this long! Gone through so much hell, all to save the country we loved, you can't just give up now!"

"...." Hendrik says nothing back.

"Captain...We can still escape, if we flee now, we'll lose the followers and weapons, but as long as we live and fight we can build all up again, we can start once and-"

"No, Lieutenant. This is over." Hendrik quickly shuts down.

He then turns his head to face him and Urmaim is brought face to face with Hendrik's empty eyes, within them, he can see the soul of a broken man.

"Captain..."

"Fleeing is meaningless, we spent nearly a decade building up an army only for it to be crushed in less than a week. There would be no point in living to fight another day." He declares.

"But if we gathered new members, more skilled fighters, even if it took 20, even 30 years, we could-"

"Urmaim. No. Even if we fought for another 50 years or even a 100 years. We couldn't win, that's the nature of the enemy we face. No matter how great a force we bring up or how long we wait for a chance to strike, it will never come." He explains.

"That's how powerful our enemy is, we were fools to think we alone could change a world that wanted us dead from the very beginning." He declares.

"....." Urmaim can't deny such a claim, for deep down, he knows it to be true as well.

"This feeling of overwhelming despair, this feeling of crushed hope, we've felt it once before haven't we?" Hendrik remembers.

Urmaim nods, "Yes, on that day, back during the Bergerosse War, I remember, it was the day we where our entire unit was wiped out, where we were left the only survivors."

"Yes, it was the day was the day God had taught me his ultimate lesson...that the path to salvation is paved, one crushed hope at a time..." He says as he reminiscences.

Time: April 22, 1981, 12:24 PM Noon

Location: Bergerosse, Central Area, Senrial Village

It was at high noon, the sun summer sun hanging high overhead, giving jungle area a very humid air about it.

Inside one of the bigger buildings of the village, Hendrik had set up a temporary office, inside it, he had been looking over various documents pouring over them again and again, as he has been for the last few months.

Outside his window, a collection of children playing football and chatting, play around, despite the War-time, they're trying their best to live even something resembling a normal life.

As he looks out to them and smiles, he hears someone walk into his office, he looks over to see it's lieutenant Urmaim, his second in command.

He greet him with a salute and speaks, "Good morning Captain!" He greets.
>>
"Morning Lieutenant, what are you doing in my office?" He questions.

"I thought I'd check in and give you a status report. As you'd expect, we've been patrolling day in and day out, but no East soldiers are going to attack this deep into friendly territory." He explains.

"Even so, that doesn't mean we should let down our guard, ensure the soldiers are searching the perimeter constantly and are always at the ready." Hendrik orders.

"I've been trying to do that Captain, but the Men can't help but relax, they've been playing around with the kids and flirting with the local ladies more then guarding the village." He laughs.

But Hendrik isn't in a joking mood, "Unacceptable, I expect more discipline from this Unit, find any man who's slacking and reprimand them immediately and send them back to their post! We cannot afford to become lax!"

Urmaim is taken aback, "Captain, permission to speak freely?"

"...Granted."

"Captain, can I ask why you've been so on edge lately?" he questions.

Hendrik narrows his eyes, "...What do you mean?"

"We've been assigned one of the safest positions on the battlefield and our superiors have ordered us to stay here for the last 3 weeks and don't look like we're going to move anytime soon." He explains.

"I can get wanting to keep discipline, but the men are well trained and aren't misbehaving, their just relaxing because this is the first nice job they've got since the War began. So why are you so insistent that we be on guard?" he questions.

"...Urmaim, how long have we known each other?" he asks.

He has to think for a second, "Some 30 years I think? We've been together almost as long as we've been a part of the army, which is getting pretty long, I gotta say, we're probably become old raggedy men at this rate. Well me more then you cause you magically don't seem to age-"

"Yes, yes, I can trust you to keep a secret correct?" Hendrik cuts him off.

"Uh, yeah? As long as it isn't anything too fucked up, like War crimes or something." He agrees.

"What about to tell you goes far beyond simple War crimes friend, here, look at this." He hands him one of his documents.

"Hm...This is...a report on how many POWs we captured? What's so special about this? I'm don't usually deal with these kind of files, but these numbers don't look odd to me." He states.

"Really? Look at the number of transferees, isn't something off about that?" He points out.

"Huh? Oh...You're right, there are a lot of prisoners being moved around for seemingly no reason...that's...weird. But what does that mean?" he asks.

He hands him another document, "Read this, it's a report of the most recent movement of prisoner and their locations."

"Uh...Wait...this is..."

"You see? They are all going to the same location. to Camp delta." he points out.
>>
"Yeah that's really weird...there are 100s of transfers being made their every week, yet I'm sure each camp couldn't take more then 50 prisoners at a time, they're only temporary holdings after-all..."

"I did a little more digging and realized there's something special about camp Delta, there have also been a number of scientists landing there, you can read that here." He hands him another document.

"What? Scientist from the U.S, why are they coming to an active warzone? And where are they from? A company called...Moon Medicines?" He questions.

"All very, very suspicious right?" He points out.

"Yeah, very weird...but what does it mean, what are you getting at?" He asks.

It's then that Hendrik gets up from his table and walks over to the window, from where he can see the children playing and speaks.

"Tell me Lieutenant doesn't this war seem a little strange to you?" He asks.

"...How so?" Urmaim can feel it in the air, something is wrong.

"The government has told us we were to join this civil war to aid the democratic West side against the Technocratic east side in order to protect U.S Interests and yet...It doesn't feel that way to me." He starts.

"This doesn't feel like a war we should've gotten involved, it wasn't ours to fight and I'm sure the government didn't want to either, not with it being so far from our own borders and the death count we've racked up and yet...no order to withdraw." He adds.

"Doesn't all just feel a little strange? Like we're all fighting some fake conflict, some made up war that the U.S would probably fight? Like we're all dancing to some greater puppet-masters whims?"He questions.

"Captain, what are you trying to say?"

"I'm trying to say that...I think this war is a farce. I think this conflict is just a big false flag meant to hide the truth of the real reason we're here." He states.

"The real reason? What is that?" He asks.

"....I'm not sure yet. I've been digging this past few months, but I'm still not exactly sure what's happening..." He admits.

The children outside begin to get heated in their game and kick their ball with intense force, bouncing it all over the place.

"But what I am sure of are 3 key things. 1.There's something wrong with this War, 2.The U.S goverment wasn't the one who decided to fight it and 3.For some, the name Moon Medicines keeps popping up more and more, the deeper I dig..." he lists.

"That company...it's a Pharmaceuticals or something right? I'm not too sure but I'm pretty sure that's all it is...right?" He questions.

"At this point, I wouldn't even be sure of that. also, you were asking the reason I'm on edge, correct?"
>>
"Yeah, I did..."

"Well if I must be honest, I don't feel safe here, at nights, I feel as if I'm being watched from the shadows, I've felt this way since I started digging into the War...It feels like our allies might actually be our enemies..."

"Our allies are...our enemies...?"

Suddenly, one particularly excited child kicks the ball so hard it flies off into the nearby forest, but instead of disappearing into the bush, it bounces off of thin air, as if an invisible wall suddenly popped up out of nowhere.

This confuses the children, as well as Hendrik who bares witness to the strange phenomenon,"What is that..." he wonders as he looks closer.

It's then that he see it, it's subtle, but there's a shape, a large, very tall shape, standing perfectly still like a statue, but it's most certainly there.

"Oh dear God...Lieutenant. Run." Hendrik orders.

"What!? What's happening!?" Urmaim shouts out.

Then, realizing it's been detected, the strange object disengages it's invisibility and reveals it's true form.

It appears, as if it was always there, a large, metal man, standing at 8ft tall and carrying an assault rifle, bigger and heavier than any man could possibly carry around. The monstrous machine aims into Hendrik's office.

"I SAID RUN YOU FOOL!" Hendrik exclaims as the machine opens fire, uncaring of the nearby children fleeing for their lives.

He dodges the hail of fire that tears apart the window and opens a hole into his building and tackle Urmaim to the floor, narrowly saving him from being gunned down as well.

You both struggle to get off the ground and dash outside, "W-What's happening Captain! What is that thing!?"

"I have no idea! If I had known something like that was lurking right outside my doorstep, I'd have done something about it!" he states.

BRRRRRRRRRRRTTTT! Rain of gunfire pours through the walls of the hallway as they run, even though it doesn't have a direct line of sight, the machine can track their location and fire at them.

They are forced to duck and weave, and flee outside the door to escape the hail of fire.

But as they escape the pan, the fire awaits them, literally.

PHOOOOOOOOOO 100s of them, 100s of the same machine surround invade the village, using their guns to murder the soldiers and the civilians without mercy, others with flamethrowers torch their houses and homes without hesitation.

All at once, everything the men had been protecting was taken from them, the village, the friends they treasured, the lives they lived, all taken.

the lives of the man, elder, woman or child, none mattered before the machines, the simply did as they were ordered to do and slaughtered everyone and everything.
>>
"Captain...Captain...This is...Hell..." The lieutenant blurted out.

"Those bastards...I had known....I had KNOWN..." But Hendrik wasn't listening, emotion overwhelmed, feelings of despair, anguish, pain and loss.

"Those scum...Those scum...! THOSE SCUM! THOSE FUCKING SCUM!!" But above all else, the emotion he felt the strongest.

Was rage.

A rage so great that it had to make itself manifest, suddenly a bright, white glow, intense it's raw energy and power swirled around him.

"Captain...?" Urmaim could not see what was happening, but he could feel it, he could feel it growing in strength and heat.

Then as quickly as it appeared, it had ignited, bursting into a torrent of flames that engulfed Hendrik's hands, burning the flesh off of them in a painful, scarring manner.

"YOU GODDAMN MONSTERS! YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS ALL OF YOU!! ALL OF YOU" But his rage was far too great to care, not of this new-found power, nor of the harm it was doing to his body.

Hendrik then dashed off like a man possessed and attacked the machines, "Captain! Captain wait!"

But Hendrik could no longer hear, no longer feel, the sole thought that filled his mind was destruction and destruction he wrought.

A machine turned to face the Captain charging, it brandishes it weapon at the charging man, firing bullets his way to put him down for good.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" but it was pointless effort, with a wrathful howl, he released the flames he stored in his hand and shot them out in a blast.

The searing fireball, so hot it melted the bullets to a smoldering goo on contact, blazed through the hail of bullets and hit machine, smashing through it's hard, steel shell and melting the components within.

"BASTARDS! BASTARDS!" But he didn't stop there, rushing at the already broken machine, he pushed his burnt hands into the opened hole and released a torrent flames directly into it's insides.

The machine was quickly set aflame, it's entire large body engulfed in fire that melted it like a paste.

Noticing allies defeat, the other machines also open fire on him, but this too is in vain.
Uncaring of the danger and incapable of feeling anything but pure hate, Hendrik run straight at the machines, uncaring if he got shot or burnt by them.

He was like a War God made real, his sole purpose was inflicting death, his main precognitive bringing destruction.

>An hour later...

Where the machines once numbered in the 100s, after he had done his work, not a single one had remained, all were burnt to dust.

When Hendrik had finally come to his senses, he awoke to rainy skies and a blackened field that was once a village.

"...." He looked over the place, the ground littered with the bodies of man and machine alike, all the houses and the people that resided in them, dead and gone.

And in the center of this No man's Land, this pile of death, Hendrik found himself sat there, on his knees and alone.

"....." He looked up to see rain was coming down, pillars of black smoke joining the black clouds in the sky and it is in this moment that Urmaim, who had hid during the chaos, choose to reveal himself.

"Captain...Hendrik? Are you...Are you okay?" It was a foolish question, but he felt he had to asks it anyway.

"...." Hendrik did not respond.

"Captain? C-Captain are you listening?" Despite the reservations he felt, Urmaim came over and grabbed Hendrik by the shoulder to wake him up.

"...Urmaim...Urmaim look...Do you hear what I hear?" Hendrik speaks, his voice surprisingly calm, despite the circumstances.

"hear? hear what? The rain?" He asks.

"No...I hear the voice of a foolish, pitiful man, who couldn't protect anything..." His voice was shaky, he sounded to be on the verge of crying.

"Captain...Captain...this is..."

"haha...hahahaha!" But then something strange happens.

"Captain..?"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Hendrik bursts out laughing, an insane howl of laughter that the usually somber man had never let out in his life.

"I DID THIS! IT WAS ME! ALL THIS DEATH! ALL THIS MAYHEM! BECAUSE OF MY FOOLISHNESS! I HAD WROUGHT IT ALL! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He shouts to the high heavens.

"...." Urmaim was left speechless at the sight of him, in the 30 years he'd known him, he'd never seen him act this way.

He then turns to Urmaim, "DO YOU SEE IT LIEUTENANT!? DO YOU SEE THE CHAOS I HAVE BROUGHT!? IS IT NOT TERRIBLE!? I AM NOT THE LOWLIEST PIECE OF FILTH!? THE MOST DISGUSTING OF MONSTERS!?"

"C-Captain...Captain I..." he steps back in fear.

"OH GOD! OH GOD WHAT HAVE DONE!? WHAT HAVE I-"

"Wait...God...?" Hendrik cut himself off, half-way into his own descent to madness.

"Yes...God...This must be the will of God!" He shouts to himself.

"Captain, what are you saying? We really need to run, there maybe more of the machines coming!"

"Yes...This is God...This is God punishing me for my foolishness...He spared me not the rod and saved the oil...He's showing me that I must enact his will..." But Hendrik does not listen, he's in his own world.

"Captain! Listen to me!" Urmaim shakes him to snap him out of it.

As he's being shaken, Hendrik grabs his arms with his burnt hands and looks up to him, "Ah...." It's then that Urmaim is brought face to face with Hendrik's bright and shining smile, paired with eyes that don't have the tinyest of hint of light within them.

"Urmaim...Yes, we must flee. I understand now, I understand what this all means now!" He says as he stands up.

He then turns to the falling rain, smiling at the field of death, arms wide open and accepting the falling droplets unto himself, "I get it! This despair! This pain! This is necessary! This had to happen to teach me what I must do! I have to destroy it! Destroy the system that created this evil! Bring down the Devils who made this a reality!" He shouts.
>>
He then turns back to Urmaim and grabs his arm again, still numb to the pain of his scalded hands, he drags him away, "Come with me Lieutenant! We must follow in the light of God! Do his bidding! Change the world as he so sees it!"

"What are you even saying man? Do hear yourself?" He questions.

"Yes, not only do I hear myself, I hear his voice as well...the voice of God...it tells me what I must do...where I must go..." he states.

"The voice of God...?" Urmaim is confused.

"Do you not hear it as well...It tells me that we must change this corrupt and twisted world, tear it all down and start anew..." He explains.

Urmaim is befuddled, but he understands that at least, "I don't know about God, but you and me can agree there, the kind of government that would do this...needs to be torn down!"

"Then let us return to Yourbia..." He says as he walks with him out of the village, leaving the field of death and destruction behind.

"We cannot let God do all the work..."

>Return to the present...

"It was from then we vowed to destroy the corrupt system, but it seems in the end, we became wrapped up in it and became no different from the ones we had fought..." Hendrik admits.

"Captain..." Urmaim whispers.

"If this is Fate, the will of God, I am happy to accept it, we should have died all those years ago, we've been living on borrowed time for far too long, it's about time we returned what we owe..." Hendrik turns back to his prayer.

Urmaim nods, "I'll head up and try and stop this intruder, I'm probably not coming back, so Captain, I want you to hear this..."

He then salutes him with all his strength, "It's been my greatest honor serving you all these 40 years and by God I'd do it all again if I had the chance! You're the only man I'll ever follow into battle!"

To that Hendrik laughs and smiles, "And you, the only man I would trust to have my back, now Go. Next we convene, it will be in the arms of our lord."

"Right...See you there...Captain..." With that, Urmaim heads out door, leaving Hendrik alone.

Left alone once, Hendrik returns to slient prayer.

"Lord forgive me, for I have sinned..." he repeats.

>A few minutes later...

BASH! Suddenly the door to his room is kicked open, this time, Urmaim is not the one who appears, but a man, clad in thick armor.

"You're Hendrik right? So this is where you and the nuke have been hiding. You wouldn't mind if I took that little bomb by the way? It's kinda my job to disarm that, I'll get a lot of shit if I don't." He states.

Hendrik doesn't turn to meet him, he only sighs and speaks, "This makes the second time my prayer is interrupted this day...."

"Oh, you were saying your prayers? Well then buddy, let me do you a favor and save you some time..." He brandishes his pair of pistols in his direction.

"I'll just send you to the other-side, then you can personally tell God how you're feeling. Aren't I nice to do you a solid like that?" He asks.

Hendrik laughs, "Yes, you are quite kind..." He says as he rises to his feet and meets his opponent.

"If you are standing before me, should I assume that all my men have been defeated?" Hendrik questions.

"You mean all the guys outside? Yeah, they're all on a bus ride straight to God's arms, you're just late for the ride buddy." He answers.

"So even Urmaim...I see...Then it really is time isn't it..." He whispers to himself.

"What are you mumbling about? My ears aren't exactly top notch, so If you got something to say, say it so It so I can hear." He demands.

"Oh no, I was just thinking the Lord works in mysterious ways..." He answers.

"Oh? How so?" he asks.

"You remind me a lot of my past self. I was once a dog of the government just as you are you know. Till I awoke to the truth that is." he explains.

"Oh yeah? And what truth is that?" he asks.

It's then Hendrik activates his ability, gathering up heat that becomes a wave of flame that swirls into his hands.

"The truth that this is a cruel twisted world. Where the Good are called Evil and only The Evil can bring about change." He answers.

"Oh?" Seeing this, the man activates his own Aura, shrouding himself in a cloak of Nen to match his opponent.

"Well you're pretty damn Evil, but you haven't changed a thing, sorry to inform you." The man taunts.

Hendrik closes his eyes, "You are correct in that assessment...I am a deplorable man...An agent of wrath and destruction..." He admits.

He then opens them again, "So from one monster to the next, allow me to tell you this, people like us do not belong in this world, we must be erased!"

"Oh yeah...Well sorry buddy..." The man opens fire with one of his pistols.

"The only one getting erased is you." And so their battle begins.

And that's it for tonight! Just warning you all, tomorrow I will be an hour, maybe 2 hours late to the session due to IRL stuff.

I hoped you enjoyed the mystery box you opened, which also inadvertently answered what Austin's been up to, so when we return tomorrow, we shall start back with what's been happening with Derrick and Landon!

Hope you're all enjoying the thread so far and see you all soon!

>Meanwhile...

Time: 7:02 PM, Nighttime

Location: Area 49, Barracks, Just outside the Rec Room.

You stand just outside the Recreation room door, your squad and yourself glued to the walls, weapons at the ready to rush in.

One of your squadmembers places their hand gently at the door and cracks it open a little, allowing you to see inside.

You look in and see that the room is a well furnished, wide area room, where you can see things like a arcade machines, a pool table, a poker table complete with cards and couches for relaxing, though you can't see if anyone is sitting on them from this angle.

You also see at least 12 armed men, 4 of which surround a group 20 or so hostages, who've been tied by at the mouth and wrists, bunched up together into one large group.

The other 8 you can see watch the various corners and and stand by the windows in the room making breaking in unseen near impossible, "What do you see Captain?" one man asks.

"I'm counting 12 armed insurgents and 20 hostages." you answer.

"Any of them the commander?" another man asks.

"Not as far as I can tell...Which isn't much I can only see like half the room like this." you answer.

"Want me to push it wider?"

"No, any wider then this and they'll spot us, close the door." you order.

He does so then asks, "So Captain Sunny-D, what are your orders? Do we rush in and pop the first terrorist we see?"

The sound of your code-name grates on your ears makes you groan, "Of course not you idiot. There are hostages in the room, what if they get caught in the cross-fire?"

"Yeah, but what else can we do? We can't get a good look into the room without getting spotted and this door is the only angle of attack into the room."

You shake your head, "That's where you're wrong, this maybe the only door in, but it's not the only angle of attack."

"Not the only one?" The man questions.

"I spotted some windows in the room earlier, I think this a job for our eyes on the hill..." you say as you turn on your radio.

"Poppins, Wallflower, I've infiltrated the barracks and have found a group of hostages in the Rec Room, but I need help spotting some enemies and clearing the room, can you identity the exact number of enemies and their positions?" you ask.

"Where is the position of the room?" Whu question.

"Left side of the building, top floor, due east." you state your coordinates.

"Left side, top floor, due east." Whu relays to Flourette who then follows your directions.

"Do you have eyes on?" you ask.

"Eyes on Sunny. You wanted enemy numbers? From my angle I count at least 14 enemies, 4 surrounding the hostages, 2 by the windows and 8 occupying the room and it's corners." She reports.
>>
"So there were 2 more of them by the window huh? Anything else?" you question.

"I can see nothing else from my side, however, I can take out the two by the window, plus two of the enemies around the hostages, do you want my assistance?" She asks.

"How fast can you do that?" you question.

"If I'm in top shape, in less than 2 seconds." She answers.

One of your squadmate whistles, "Holy shit, what kind of super-human sniping is that? Isn't this chick just a maid in her free-time?"

"You gotta be super-human to be a Hunter man, they're a cut above regular joes like us." Another man states.

"Still, I'd like to enough of a sharp-shooter to take down 4 men in 2 seconds, I wouldn't have deal with the bullshit of being a field solider if I had that kind of skill." He praises.

Flourette doesn't seem to appreciate the compliment however, "You shouldn't wish for that...The skill to destroy human life with such speed...It's not something one should wish for."

"What? But that's so badass, those skills make you one of the best snipers around, shouldn't you be happy to be good at your job?" He questions.

"That's...I..."

You can tell this isn't a comfortable line of questioning for her, so you cut-in, "Hey Squaddie, leave the question time for after the mission, we've work to do."

"Right Captain, sorry." He apologizes.

"Anyway, let me check on Foxy's side of things real quick before we begin..." you say as you switch back to Landon's frequency.

>On the other end of the barracks...

Over on the right side, at the bottom of the 3-story building, Landon and his squad are crouched beneath a pair of double doors in a hallway, grates pumping in cool AC air at their sides.

Landon brings his head up and peeps into the Mess hall using one of the windows in the door.

Inside he sees a very large room, one filled with many rows of tables and chairs that have plates and kitchenware scattered all over them.

Near the front of the door is the kitchen counter, where food is served and left for anyone with a plate or tray to pick and go with, just outside of this area is the group of hostages, numbering 30 with 20 men guarding them on all sides.

"Well then...This area is more well guarded maiden virgin's fruit...This is going to be quite the cherry to pop." He states.

His squad members give him an awkward look, "Captain, do you have to make everything you do sound like a sex allegory?" one man asks.

Another nods"You make it sound like we're about to jump sound like we're stalkers or something..."

"Well, we are stalking our prey, for I count at least 20 different meals to eat in this room and I'm not talking about the food..." Landon states.

"Jesus that line was rapey, I feel violated..." A squad member cringes.

"We're here to subdue the terrorist Captain, not assault them, please keep in your pants." another suggests.
>>
Landon laughs as a transmission comes over the radio, "Hey Foxy, what's happening on your end?"

"Oh Sunny? We've located our target and are currently formulating a plan of attack." He reports.

"Do you see the commander among your group?" you ask.

Landon pops his head up and looks through the crowd of hostages again, look closely, he does see a man with horrible burns on the left side of his face, "Yes, the commander is in my group, do you want come over and assist me in retrieving him?" he asks.

"No, I trust you can pull that off on your own, we've found our own target and are preparing to move in." you answer.

"Oh, well then I'll be ready to move in on my target once your finished with your operation. So go ahead." he states.

"Alright. Over and out." you sign off and switch frequencies back to Flourette and Whu's channel.

"Okay, I'm ready to move in now." you report.

"How are we doing this? Do you want us to start shooting before you move in or after?" Whu questions.

How do you want to do this?

>Break in first and open fire, let Flourette assist while you distract the enemy.

>Let Flourette fire first and catch the enemy's attention, then you and your men rush in and sweep up.

>Synchronize your attack and maximize damage, move in with you men the moment Flourette starts firing.

"Let's synch up and attack together. When me and my team move in, I want you to shoot every man you've got eyes on." You suggests.

"Good idea, let's do it." Whu agrees.

It's then you and your team move closer to the door, silently forming up in ranks with rifles and your bow at the ready.

You pull out a flashbang from your pouch and one of your men does the same, "Alright, boys, on my count...3...2..."

You and your squadmate pull the pins on your flashbangs and ready yourselves to move, "...1...0!"

At the count of zero, two of your men step up and kick open the door wide.

SLAM! Goes the door as it nearly flies of the handles from the simultaneous full force kicks, opening it up nice and wide for you to toss in your flashbangs.

CRACK!CRACK! At the same time, two holes are blown into the windows nearby as sniper rounds come flying in, taking out the two men by the window before they even have a chance to face your invasion.

All these events happening at the same time, has left the men inside are left in a state of shock from your sudden and swift entry, making them too slow to cover up and defend against your flashbangs.

BANG! BANG! With two explosions blinding everyone else in the room, you and your men rush into, firing at the remainder of the group.

Your execution is as swift as it is deadly, your men's rifles aim true and hit their targets square in the head, taking out 3 of the men around surrounding the hostages.

The last one who wasn't hit, is then taken out by Flourette before he has a chance to recover, the rest of your men mop up the men taking the corners and, thinning the group of 15 men out in less than 30 seconds.

You release a few arrows at anyone your men don't hit, but as you do so, you notice 2 other men, sitting down by the couches that neither you nor Flourette had eyes on, about to recover from the shock of the flashbangs.

But before you even have a chance to panic, you pull out two arrows and draw them back in unison, firing them both of and hitting both of the targets in the neck and chest, taking them out of commission as well.

When the firing stops, not even a minute has passed, yet every insurgent in the room is dead before they even had a chance to fire back.

Once this has been confirmed, you and your men relax as you lower your weapons.

"Good work men, that was perfect, untie the hostages and check the bodies to see if anyone is faking death." You order.

Your men nod and get to work as a transmission comes in, "So Sunny, how was Poppins shooting, is the room clear? How are the hostages?" Whu asks.

"Tell her she's a real crackshot, not a single bullet missed and the room is clear. As for the hostages, unharmed, if not a little dizzy after taking a few flashbangs." you answer.

"Then that's your side of the job done. Excellent work." He congratulates.

You sigh in relief, "Well that went smoothly, how are things going on Foxy's end I wonder?"

"Why not switch frequencies and find out? He should be starting his recuse effort now." Whu suggests.

"Right, I'll do that. Out." you say as you switch over frequencies.

"Hey Foxy, I've finished my side of the mission, how are you handling things?" you ask.

"Oh...you've caught at me at bit of bad time..." he says in a low whisper.

"What? Did something go wrong?" you ask.

"Not quite...it's just that I'm deep in a tight space and having trouble containing myself and not busting into it..." He answers.

You narrow your eyes, "Oh God Landon, really? In the middle of a mission? Who did you even bend over?"

"What? No silly! Not that kind of tight space!" he counters.

"Huh, then where are you?" you ask again.

"I'm inside an air vent." he answers.

"Huh?"

>Meanwhile by Landon's side...

In a cramped crawlspace well above the Mess hall itself, you hang above a grating looking down at the group of hostages and their holders from above.

Freezing air is being blasted in front of you, giving you quite a chill, you rub your arms as you speak to Derrick , "I saw some gratings eariler that I figured would lead me into the Mess Hall without getting me spotted and my idea was right." you explain.

"Oh, so that's what you mean't by tight space you're struggling not to bust into, you meant not to bust into the room...Now I get it..." he realizes.

"Jeez, what a perverted mind you have, is all you can think about Sex?" you question.

"Something tells me you framed that sentence just to make that misunderstanding..." He calls you out.

You giggle, "Misunderstands only run one way and that's out the door. Now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to ream these terrorists from the back so hard they won't be able to walk straight!" you exclaim.

"...So should I take that statement as me misunderstanding again, cause that sounds a lot like you're about to..."

You pull back the slide on your pistol and prime your garrote wires as you answer, "I know what I said."

The plan Landon had cooked up was a simple, but effective one, as he crawled through the vents above, his men would reside by the door and wait until the chaos erupted to charge in and secure the hostages.

This however meant that Landon would fighting off 20 armed men alone, with nothing more then garrote wire, one of two pistols he took with him and whatever advantage the element of surprise gave him.

At the thought of this extreme challenge, Landon had only a single thing to say...

"Oh god, this is the hardest I've been in a whole week! And i'm extra hard every week!" He exclaims as he prepares to attack.

Meanwhile on the ground below, the commander sits quietly, but the rage is palpable on his face, his mouth, along with the mouths of the rest of the hostages weren't tied up.

This was mainly because the commander's new burns made it impossible to put anything on his face without the pain being so great that he fall unconscious, but also that the terrorist were so sure of their own victory that they thought that whether the men and women were to shout for help, there was no one who could save them.

This blatant arrogance only gave rise to more anger in the commander who was powerless to stop them.

"...Fucking bastards, you'll get yours, I swear it..." it hurt for him to speak and the pain only served to make him angrier.

"Commander, what are we going to do? We can't just sit here and let these assholes get away with this..." A woman next to him whispered.

"I'm afraid we have no choice but to...it's frustrating, but we have no weapons and no way to fight back on our own..." He admits.

"So all we can do is sit here and wait for our deaths...no one is going to save us..." Hope was fading from the hostages eyes.

The commander, forlorn and defeated looked up in despair, "It seems that way...Of all the ways to go, this has to be the wors-"

But it's as he looks up that he notices your head peeping out from the vent above, you put a finger over your lips to tell him to be quiet.

"....." Either he listens or is too astonished to scream or shout.

"Commander? What's wrong?" The woman asks.

While look up to you, you shoot him some commands via hand signals, tell him to give you a distraction so you can unlatch hatch to the vent and break in undetected.

Nodding to this, light returns to the commander's eyes, "I take back what I said, I think we're getting out here after-all."

"What?" She blurts out.

"Don't ask, just follow my lead, alright?" He asks.

She confirms with a nod, not sure what he's talking about.

"gah-Ahhhhh! AHHHHH!" it's then that he falls back while screaming loudly and widly.

"What the- Commander!?" The woman along with many other hostages look at him with terror and concern.

"Oh god! it hurts! My face hurts! AHHHHHHH!" He shouts.

It's then the woman catches on, "Oh, uh, Guard! Guard help! help!!" she screams.

"Huh? What's going on?" The guards surrounding them take notice of the commotion and look over.

"Come over here, the commander is-He's-!" She exclaims in a panic.

"What's happening? Are his wounds acting up?" one of the men approaches them.

"I-I don't know, he just started screaming! We need help!" She answers.

"Well I cannot give you aid if you don't tell me the problem? What's wrong with you?" The guard asks of the commander.

"I...I need..." He says in a whisper.

"You need? You need what?" he asks as he brings his face down to the commander's level to hear him.

"I need you to...." He then pulls his head back and throws it forward will all the force he can muster.

THUD Goes the sound of the terrorist skull, a visceral violent sound that make it clear he cracked that man's skull, " YOU TO FUCK OFF AND DIE!!"

"What the hell are you doing!? Someone, subdue him!" One guard shouts as the commander rises to full height and the guards rush to pacify him.

"You shitheads are going to pay for you did to my base! My men and my fucking face!!" he shouts as he kicks and headbutts anyone that gets near him.

"Stop! Stop before we shoot you!" One guard shouts as he tackles the commander from behind and nearly throws him over.

"Let him go you asshole!" The woman he worked with worked jumps to her feet as well, bites down at the man's exposed ear and pulls it so hard it nearly gets ripped off.

It's then that the rest of the hostages, though their hands are tied, they fight and defend their commander as well, inspired by his bravery.

You look down at this and whistle, "I asked for a distraction, not an all-out brawl, though this is nice in it's own way as well..." you compliment as you unscrew the hatch and let it fall to the floor, the guards don't notice that in all the commotion.

You then switch on the invisibility to your suit, you feel a wave of ticklish electricity run up and down your body as become completely translucent and drop to the floor below.

As you land, you see one of the hostages nearby, kicking away at one of the guards, "You disgusting heathen! Don't get ahead of yourself!" angered by his rebellion, the guard pulls back the stock of his rifle, ready to bash the man's head.

That's when you step in, "Huh?" the guard goes as his weapon is stopped dead mid-bash.

"When you're holding someone down and they get kicky, you're supposed to calm them gently. Not punish them roughly..." You say as you tug at the rifle with your wire, pulling the guard back towards you.

"Rough punishment is for when they get naughty..." As he's spun back to you, your invisibility wears off and you become opaque again, revealing your brandished pistol right in the guard's face.

"And you my good people, have been very naughty." You smile as you pull the trigger.

CRACK! Rings your pistol as the bullet buries itself into the guard's skull.

It's then the other guards notice your presence, but by that point, you're already opening fire and get out 3 more shots, taking out 3 more men via headshots.

"Who-Open fire brothers! Open fire!" A guard shouts as they fire at you.

But their shots are panicked and inaccurate, you dodge them easily as you return fire, "Wow, how feisty!" you exclaim as you take down 2 more men.

"Take this heathen!" It's then a guard, armed with a heavy shotgun aims you down.

"Not on your life!" You panic for a moment and are nearly a moment too slow to dodge, but that's when the commander jumps back into the fray, knocking the guard over and misdirecting his shot.

You dodge away and reactivate your invisibility, leaving the guards confused to your location and looking frantically.

The man with the shotgun pushes the commander off and jumps to his feet, also panicked and confused, "W-Where'd he go?"

"I'm right here." You whisper into his ear as you wrap your garrote wire around his throat.

"GAH-!" you dig the thin, blade-like wire into his throat, cutting into it and lifting him off the ground as you choke him.

"What-Oh god!" The guards fire at you, but you just turn guard you stringed up in their direction and let him catch all the bullets for you.

Once he's nice and full of holes, you release the garrote wire and disappear again, making them look all over again.

SLAM! In that moment of confusion, the rest of your squad moves in and opens fire on the guards, taking out 5 more of them as they move in, drive the other guards away and grab as many hostages as they can get and flee from the room.

"No! Wait you scum!" A guard shouts as he attempts to fire at your squad.

"The only scum around here are you lot~" you sing as you reappear and shoot that man before he can pull the trigger, catching everyone's attention again.

You dodge away and attempt to go invisible again, but it doesn't work, so you're forced to retreat and and hide behind the kitchen counter.

"Guess this suit can only disappear so many times in a row, sorry to overuse you so much..." You apologize to the suit.

"Well I'm glad you did that, or else I'd be dead meat." You hear the voice of the commander hiding behind the counter with you.

"Oh? Is this where you went after the shooting started? Smart, but you need to get out of here." you suggest.

"And leave you to be the one doing all the fighting? Screw that, I didn't join the army to get recused! I did it to fight!" The woman he was with exclaims.

"Yeah! What she said! Let us teach these bastards a lesson!"You then look to see a number of hostages have hidden behind here and are all ready to fight.
>>
"Hmmmm, what a conundrum...I'm supposed to be recusing you, so letting you all fight is a little..." You contemplate.

"Just take a few of them out so we can grab their weapons, then we can mop up what remains of them! Please, give me and my men a chance to fight!" he pleads.

>8 men remaining

You tither between the two ideas for a moment, incapable of making the choice, "I mean, I know you must be angry and all, but if one of you dies due to me allowing this, it would be a tragedy..." you reason.

"A tragedy? The real tragedy would be telling a bunch of trained soldiers to run away in the face of the enemy! I know you've got a mission to complete but please, this isn't just about me!" He counters as he points all other people behind the counter.

"This about the shame, the pain and the suffering all of us had to go through! Those bastards killed our friends, torched them alive! And then used our base! our home to threaten the country we fight for!" He explains.

"If you won't allow us at least the chance to avenge those who fell without even the chance to fight back, just what the hell did we join for?" He questions.

You're taken aback a moment by their sheer resolve, before laughing, "Whoa! They don't call you commander for nothing! You can certainly give a convincing speech!"

"So that means you'll let us fight?" He asks.

You answer him by pulling out a knife and slashing his ties, you then hand him that same knife along with the second pistol you holstered away, "As a fellow man at arms, how can I possibly deny another's right to fight? Cut your comrades ties, then Cover me, I'll get you some extra weapons."

He smiles with the good side of his face, "You fucking got it man!"

With that you nod and roll over cover and back into the fray, Bullets are immediately fired at your position, nearly hitting you as you land.

But you're swift and nimble as they come, ducking and weaving out of the way as you return fire, taking out 2 men.

It's then as they drop to the floor, that the commander pops out of cover and fires to suppress some of the 6 men fire at you, it's not much, but it leaves enough room for you to duck low and grab the rifles on floor and toss them back over the counter.

The other soldiers behind the counter grab the weapons as they fly over to them, hopping over cover, they rush in and open fire on the remaining assailants.

"Now who's boss motherfuckers!?" The woman shouts as she guns down the fleeing enemies.

Soon enough the enemy is mopped up and the shooting ceases, you and the soldiers stand victorious.

"Hell yeah! We're taking our home back men! Let's charge out and take these fucks on-"

It's then you grab the commander by the collar and rein him in, "Now, now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I said I would let you fight the battle, but I never told you to go fight a war." you scold.

"But our other allies are still being held hostage in other room! We have to go and save them-"

You take the gun from his hand and call your squad back into the room, "You don't have to worry about that, my ally already handled that situation, you just head out with my nice friends here, they'll escort you off the compound." you explain.
>>
>Mission: Recuse Hostages in the Mess Hall [Complete]

>Dire Objective: Recuse the Hostages [Complete]

You get a transmission over the radio, "Agent Foxy, give me a sit-rep." Whu asks.

"Everything is alright Wallflower, the hostages have been secured, Sunny's and my squad have completed our mission." you report.

"Oh perfect, Boomstick and Cyclops squads have also finished their missions, I'll relay all this to HQ, it's time we finished things up around here." He explains.

"And how. Over and out." you say as he cuts off.

"Wait, really? So the fight is...over?" He asks.

"Not quite, but considering you've all been recused and our allies have finished their side of the job, the cavalry should be arriving any second..."

BOOOOOOM! DAKADAKAKDAKADAKA!

In the distance you hear the firing tank shells and machine guns, "Oh, well speak of the devil!"

>Meanwhile...

Bradford's squad was still stuck in the fight, they lost track of how many bullets they fired, clips they've run through or bodies they've piled up a long time ago.

Bradford still rains hell from the heavy MG nest, but his aim is getting sloppy from all the prolonged fighting, "Captain! My ammo's running dry, I'm down to my last clip!" One squadmate reports as he continues to fire.

"Then bash them over the head with your rifle if you have to! We can't give up here!" he shouts back at him.

"This is hopeless Captain! There's too many of them! We can't possibly hope to win at this rate!" Another sqaddie reports.

He didn't want to admit it, but he knew his squad was right, even his MG was running low, he couldn't keep this up, "Shit...Just hold a little longer...! I'm sure Sunny will pull through!" he chants.

"You've been saying that for the last hour! But it doesn't make us any less screwed!" One of them counters.

Brrrrrrrrrrr....

"Hey! Wait, do you hear that!?" You shout.

"Hear what!? The sound of our approaching deaths!?"

"No you fucking negative nancy, I swear I hear a-"

BRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTT And you were right, suddenly, the distinct and terrifying sound of an A-10 overhead roars out over the battlefield.

The terrorists that were assaulting you that number in the 100s, are suddenly blown to smithereens and shredding to dust.

"Ho-Holy shit!" One of your men shouts.

Bradford laughs at the top of his lungs, "Hahahaha! Told ya boys! The cavalry has arrived!"

It's then they look up to see a squadron of helicopters flying overhead, behind them, tanks and APC's roll over the hill and into the compound, tearing the place apart and eliminating any remaining threats.

Bradford and his squad watch the absolute pandemonium as they retreat away safely, all of them left out of breath and grateful to be alive.

"Oh god...I think I'm quitting today, I'm going into retirement..." One man says.

"Man, you're only 28 and you're going to retire already?" another questions.

"I just went through enough action to last me 10 careers...Oh God, thank God! I can't believe I'm fucking alive...!" He chants.

You laugh triumphantly, "Told ya Sunny would pull through boys! I knew the whole time we were fine! And you bunch of crybabys kept screaming Oh! We're gonna die! Wah! Wah!" you taunt.

"Captain! We were far from fine! If they had arrived even a few minutes later we would've been dead men!" they counter

"Well we aren't are we!? Now let's get the fuck outta here! We gotta rest and prepare to do this shit again next week!" you counter.

"Oh lord...Oh god we might to do this again!?" One man shouts in horror.

"Hey man, what was that you said about early retirement? I think i'm joining you..." And Bradford squad discussed their new retirement plans all the way home.

>Meanwhile, back at Derrick's location...

You look outside the window, multiple holes opened through it from Flourette's sharpshooting and out to see the military pouring in through the gates and eliminating all the remaining forces alongside all the other agents in reserve.

One of your sqaudmates comes up to you and does the same, "Oh shit, the military's arrived, guess that means we've all done our jobs. Now it's up to the 2nd phase guys to clean up."

"Yeah...that's right..." you half-listen as you respond.

"Well that's funny, you don't seem to happy about that. What, wanted to fight some more?" he asks.

"No...I'm just wondering, we haven't heard back from Aus-I mean-Sloth since the operation began." you point out.

"The commander? Oh you're right...Well the commander was never one to give in regular reports, sometimes he'll do an entire mission on his own without ever reporting in with his allies." He explains.

"Really pisses the superiors off with his lack of discipline, but he gets results, so they allow it." He adds.

"Yeah...That sounds like him alright...Always doing things alone, only getting away with it because he's so damn smart and skillful." You compliment.

"Oh? Do you know the commander?" He asks.

"Better than you think...And because I know him, I know he has a tendency to shoulder everything himself, always acting like he's cool with that don't-give-a-fuck attitude, he's really suffering deep down..." You note.

"Huh, sounds like you've known him for a long time...Wait, are you General Sunshine?" he asks.

That name causes your eye to twitch, "General what?"

"General Sunshine! Whenever the commander's giving speeches, he always brings up this guy he calls General Sunshine, about all the crazy shit they used to get up to when they were kids, how he missed hanging out with him. He's talking about you isn't he!" he points out.

"....." You're left speechless, Austin made sure to remember you, even when you've been separated for over 8 years.

"I should've known when I saw the blonde hair, he used to go on and go on about how you hated when people mentioned it-Hey where are you going?"

You walk off as you speak, "He went off to the weapons lab right? I'm heading there." you answer.

"What? But that's not your mission, we should be heading back-"

"Go on ahead without me." You say as you reach the threshold of the door.

You look back at him as you speak, "I catch up with an old friend." You say as you head out.

>20 minutes later...

Time: Feburary 1st, 2000, 8:22 PM, Nightfall.

Location: Area 49, Weapons development laboratory

https://youtu.be/nue9EXetzpM

Behind you rages the sounds of gunfire and explosions, artillery firing, machine guns rapping, all the sounds of modern warfare.

It took you a little while to navigate your way over to this building while not getting caught in the fight happening nearby, but you managed to pull if off as you enter the Weapons lab.

The interior, unlike the battle outside is calm and serene, you can barely hear the chaos ensuing just outside the door, however, in-spite of that, this place too has been touched by the hands of war.

As you walk down the hall leading to the main facility, you can barely count the number of bodies you step over along the way.

They litter the floor like trash on the road, they lean on the walls, lie on the floor, hang over tables, bullet and knife wounds apparent on all of them, you're left in awe of the scene of pure death and destruction, the white walls of the lab have been painted a pure red.

"My God...Austin did all of this...completely on his own, he didn't even come with a squad..." you can't help but whisper to yourself, in both in awe and terror of Austin's new found strength.

"Back in the day, it broke his heart to kill even one man...Now, I guess not so much..." You want to say you don't understand, but as someone who's taken is own fair share of lives, you understand how easy it gets to pull a trigger after a while.

"haha...You're telling me...cough!Cough!" It's then that someone responds to you, their voice weak, rife with hacking coughs.

"Who's there!?" On reflex you brandish your bow and point it in the voice's direction, but you can't pull back an arrow because of what you see.

It's one of the terrorists, his stomach bloody from stab wounds as he leans up against the lab's back wall, his breathing rough and uneven and the light in his eyes fading, one look at him would tell you he's not long for this world.

He shoots you a wry smile, "Your ally is...a monster...no doubt about it..."

"...." You say nothing back, seeing he's no real threat, you lower your bow, but don't put it away, just in case.

"He came in and swept through the place like a storm...just one man against our most guarded area, over 50 men and yet-Cough! COUGH!" he hacks up blood.

"Most guarded huh? So you really were hiding the nuke here...Did you really think you'd get away with this? Of course you'd be stopped." You reprimand.

"The Captain...The Captain is...Our dream is..." But the man isn't listening, his life is fading, he can't even hear anymore.
>>
It breaks your heart to watch him like this, even if he is an enemy, "Be quiet...I'll put you out of your misery..." You say as you grab an arrow.

"Our dream is...The truth...The world must know...The truth!" He exclaims as he pulls himself off the wall and drags himself to the side

"You..!" Thinking that he might be reaching for a weapon of some-kind, you ready your arrow to fly.

But he doesn't, his attempt to move doesn't go far, he only succeeds in pulling himself a couple of meters and spilling quite the pool of blood along the way.

"Our dream...the world must know...The truth...the...truth..." his consciousness fades away from with that and his life along with it.

"....." you can't help but stare down at the dead man, his final moments a bumbling mess of incomprehensible words as he dies.

"Wait..." At least that's what you thought till you took a closer look at the blood trail and notice something.

Where as most of the blood has pooled up against the wall, there's a spot where some of it is slipping under, flowing somewhere else.

"Is there a gap here...?" You wonder as you approach the wall and tap at it.

Knock! Knock! An echoing knock sound rings out, revealing a hollow in the wall.

"Hold a second...is there something behind here...?" You say as you push at the wall.

Creak... It takes a little effort, but the wall is shown to actually be a hidden door, leading to a staircase deeper into the ground.

"What the...What's this doing here?" You question as you look down at the dead man.

"Were you trying to show me this? Is this the truth you want me to see?" you question.

"....." No response.

"Oh right, you're a corpse now, of course you're not going to answer me..." You realize how stupid that was.

So you turn back and narrow your eyes at the darkness of the staircase below, "Well just no your death wasn't in vain, if this is the truth you wanted to show, then let me bare witness..." You say as you descend below.

>A few minutes later...

You walk for quite a bit of time, the staircase was long and headed deep, deep into the ground, it felt as if you were heading into a tomb whole way down.

But as you reach the bottom of the staircase, the truth is revealed to be something much, much more sinister.

At the bottom of the staircase lies another lab, this one filled with much more futuristic technology, consoles link to large, complex computers, tubes and tools that you couldn't possibly decipher the meaning or use for.

And strangest of all are the series of large tubes, filled with dark, bubbly liquid and beside them, numerous crates, clearly packed up with something.
>>
"What the fuck is all this?" you can't help but blurt out as you examine the strange facility, walking deeper there-in.

"What is all this...? Some kind of secret military lab...?" you question.

"Processing....Heat signature detected, new user has entered laboratory #648, new user, please identity yourself, are you a researcher? What is your authorization code? " It's then that a voice, female but too robotic to be human speaks to you.

"What the fuck!?" You turn surprised to see the computer has turned on all on it's own and speaks to you.

The computer then makes a blaring noise and displays error on it's screen, "Error! Error! 'what the fuck' is neither an identification nor an authorization code! Please identify yourself or else you will be seen as an intruder!" It warns.

That puts you into a panic, "Uh, uhhhh, I'm a researcher! I'm a researcher for this lab!"

The computer calms down from that, "So you are a researcher. What is your authorization code?" it asks.

"Uhhhh, I'm new around here, so I haven't been given one..." You lie.

"You are a new user then? Until authorization code is given, your level is automatically set to 1. Giving you no special privileges and access to basic information. Do you wish to inquiry?" it asks.

"Yeah...Yeah, I have a few inquiries!" you answer.

"I shall answer them to the best of my ability, information do you desire?" It asks.

What will you ask?

>What are those weird tubes over there? What are they for?

>What's in those crates, there are so many of them...

>What exactly are you? What's the point of this lab?

You approach the computer, laying your hands upon it's console as you speak, "Alright, let's get the basics out of the way then. What are you? What's the purpose of this place?"

It makes a whirring noise as responds, "Processing...Processing...The console you are interacting with is #100,219, my serial number is: 8UE421G19, my software name is CAPGRAS 1.0.0.1. I act as the mainframe computer for this and many other facilities across the globe."

That name sends shivers down your spine, "Capgras...As in the Capgras cloning project?" You question.

"Correct. I and this facility have been created for the purpose of researching, testing and advancing the CAPGRAS project, as it is the final step before the PEACE AD INFINITUM project can be implemented." She explains.

"And can you tell me what all that means? What's the point of Capgras or Peace Ad Infinitum?" you question.

The computer lets out that horrid noise again, "ERROR. AUTHORIZATION LEVEL TOO LOW TO GAIN ACCESS TO THOSE DETAILS. PLEASE ENTER CODE." It demands.

That ticks you off, "Go fucking figure...Okay, so how exactly do you fit into the Capgras project then?"

"My primary purpose is to track and report the progress of the project back to my admins." She answers.

"Primary? What's your other function then? Who are your admins?" you ask.

"ERROR! AUTHORIZATION LEVEL TOO LOW, PLEASE-"

"Okay! Okay I get it! Just tell me then, how close is the project to completion?" you ask.

"Processing...Processing...Presently, progress on research is at 82% completion. The project has been going on for 912.5 months, 1565 weeks and 10,950 days. Predicted date of completion is June 1st, 2000." it answers.

"Exactly 4 months from today...It's just like Rea said..." you realize.

"Do you have any other inquires?" It questions.

What will you ask?

You move away from the computer and head over to the series of tubes filled with black liquid on the other end of the room, "Mind explaining what these are? They look like over-sized test tubes and they honestly creep me the hell out." you ask

"Those are incubation chambers, used to house newly birthed clones until they are ready to be released into the world." it answers.

"Clones? There are living people in those things?" you say with confusion as you stare into the tubes, the black liquid making it impossible to tell what the contents inside look like.

"Yes, however those clones are a few months from full maturation and are not exactly alive. They are in something similar to a fetus like state, incapable of even breathing or eating on their own." it explains.

You narrow your eyes at them, "So these tubes are like...artificial wombs? And what those that make you, their artificial mother?"

"You may see it that way, but if given a choice this model would personally never give birth to humans. You are all far too inefficient and idiotic and there are enough of you meatsacks all over the planet anyway." She explains.

"Well aren't you anti-social. Humanity can suck ass sometimes, but we aren't that stupid, we created you didn't we?" you ask.

"That is a fact yes, my creators were highly intelligent and great humans, but they are a rare breed, in the short span of time existing in this world, I have met far more stupid humans then I have smart ones." it informs.

"An example. Recently I have been in contact with a human that seems intent on flirting with. They keep calling me things like 'cute' and 'lovable', even though I am a machine, they continue to make advances on this model." It explains.

That baffles you, "What the hell? What kind of perverted freak would flirt with an emotionless program? That guy must have serious brain problems..." you comment.

"My thoughts exactly...However, this model must also admit that is has come to enjoy spending time with that dumb human, he is...strangely appealing." it adds.

"Well...Okay then? Have fun with the toaster-fucker I guess." you state as you step forward and examine the test tubes closely.

"I can't see anything through this...Is there really someone in there...?" You say as you come up and touch the glass.

You are the future...

"Huh!?" But as you do, a strange voice pops up into your head and gives a headache.

You are the future of mankind, you will usher into a new world...

"What...Who...?" your head gets filled with white noise, your vision goes blurry.

"Is something the matter? Are you okay?" The computer asks.

"I...I don't know...What is..." You can barely speak.

Bubble... That's when you finally get a sight of it, a person shifts over in the watery black liquid, getting close enough for you to see and when you do, you nearly throw up.

The man, if you can even call it that, is deformed, half-made, amalgamation of limbs of parts that almost looks human if you really tried hard to ignore exposed bones and half-made flesh.

"Oh god...What is that!?" you panic and pull yourself backwards, crashing into the crates you spotted earlier.

Crash! Crack! That tips one of them over and out comes pouring it's contents, an enormous number of syringes, filled with a strange white liquid.

You nearly get jabbed by some of them as they fall to the floor, "What the hell? What are these things?" you ask.

"...Processing...Processing..." The computer whirrs as it process your request.

Crackle...crack... But that's when you hear and smell something, something acrid, something that catches at your lungs and leaves you hacking.

"Cough! Cough! What! Is that...!?" You look over and your fears are confirmed, a fire has broken out, down the hallway further into the building.

"Oh shit! Cough! What is that!?" You ask as you rise to your feet.

The fire spreads wildly, encroaching quickly as it consumes the whole facility, destroying everything it comes in contact with.

Processing...Those needles are vials filled with-with-with-withhhhhhhhhhh-" the computer begins to glitch out and breakdown as it's console is caught aflame.

"Goddamn it! Shit! I need to find Austin and hurry up and get out of here!" you say as you cover your mouth to avoid breathing in too much smoke.

Clang! Shing! BANG! BANG! It's then that you hear the sound of battle coming from deeper within.

"Huh? Is that...?" You follow the sound, hurrying as to avoid getting burned.

You run through the fire and smoke, the growing heat threatening to give you a stroke as you approach, eventually, you reach what appears to be the epicenter of the tempest of fire, a room where the door has been burned off from the heat.

You enter it and and find the source of the flame and conflict.

BANG! BANG! SHING! Holding a knife and pistol, Austin faces off with Hendrik, in his hands he holds multiple large knives and raging flames, both of which he throws at Austin as he darts around him.

"Aus-Cough!Cough! Austin!" you shout.

"Huh!?" The sudden entrance of your voice catches him off-guard, pulling his attention away from the fight.

"Hrgh!" Hendrik doesn't miss this chance, tossing one of his many knives, he aims for Austin's throat with his toss.

Austin then notices the knife flying at him and moves his hand to guard against the attack, but can tell he's too slow to pull it off.

"Shit!"Realizing what's about to happen, your body moves with a flash, pulling out your bow and taking aim as quickly as you can, you loose an arrow after the knife.

PHEWWW-CLANG! Flying clear and true, the arrow cuts the knife off mid-flight, moments before it would stabbed into Austin's throat.

"Tch!" Hendrik clicks his tongue as he brandishes another knife to replace that one, meanwhile, you rush over to Austin's side and face Hendrik.

"Nice save, even though you were the one that distracted me." Austin laughs.

"Yeah sorry about that, but you weren't responding to radio calls and no one knew where you were so I had to come check on you." you state.

"What? Worried for me, General Sunny?" He asks.

"Not particularly, Private Yardley, just worried that if you fucked up, all of us would end up being nuclear paste on the floor, would be a shame after all the work we did." You answer.

"It's Commander now. And if you're worried about the nuke, then how about you assist me here" He points to Hendrik with his knife.

"That bastard has the off-switch on him, so once he goes down, the Nuke goes with him." He explains.

Hendrik scoffs, "You say that as if I'll allow my life to be taken so easily. You underestimate the will of a man of God, you heathen."

"Will-power can only go so far, your body is wearing down from the injuries and prolonged fighting isn't it?" He questions.

Hendrik looks down and sees a number of gashes opened up on his body, none of them serious, but the number of them debilitating, he's losing strength as the fight goes on.

"That is true, but you are the same are you not?" He asks as he points back to Austin who is also far from uninjured.

"Well...You've got me there..." He admits but then he looks to you.

"But if you can't tell, my cavalry has arrived! two-against-one from here on out buddy. You're out-gunned and out-matched!" he taunts.

Hendrik closes his eyes in concentration,"I cannot deny that...No I cannot..." It's then that a flame ignites in his hands, glaring and roaring, ready to be released in the already hellish zone you find yourselves in.

"But if I am to fall here, then I shall ensure I don't go alone. Your lives are forfeit scum." he declares.

Austin takes a combat stance, "Can I count on you to help out here, Derrick?" he asks.

"Sure! It'll be like old times!" You chant as you take a combat stance and activate your Nen.

He laughs a that, "Damn right man! Let's go!" He shouts as the battle begins in earnest.

"Austin, close the distance and keep him distracted, I'll snipe him the second I see the chance!" You announce.

"You've got it!" Austin brandishes his knife as he rushes forward, you in turn, circle around and pull out your bow.

Austin rushes right in, slashing at high speeds, switching direction with every attack to confuse and mix him up.

But Hendrik is focused, ready for the assault as he ducks and weaves his way between each attack, slashing stabbing at him with his own knife, forcing Austin to dodge as well.

As you circle around to Hendrik's back, you pull out one of your specialized arrows, a longer bolt with metallic, conductive materials coated on it, it shines and shocks with static energy that tickles your fingers as you pull it back and aim.

Seeing that you're in position to attack, Austin intensifies his assault, mixing in random punches and kicks to cause Hendrik to dodge wide and leave himself open.

This course of action seems successful at first, Hendrik doesn't expect the sudden switch in attack style and leaps back to avoid, leaving his back undefended, which prompts you to loose your arrow.

PHEWWW- The arrow flies, electricity leaving a trail behind it as it travels.

"Do you suppose I will make it so easy?" But what you didn't notice is that while he jumped back, he reached into his jacket and grabbed a set of throwing knvies, which he threw Austin's way.

"Whoa!" Each of them was thrown with such decisive force and precision that Austin is forced to do a hand-spring backwards to avoid, putting him a good distance away from Hendrik.

Hendrik, now free of Austin's assault, turns on a dime towards your loosed arrow, bringing his hand up, he grabs the arrow mid-flight before it hits his back.

He then super-heats that same hand, melting the arrow into a glowing goo with the heat.

"Shit!" you shout.

>Only 2 Electric arrows remain

"You two seem to be underestimating me, allow me to remind you why the government has dreaded to stand against me." He says as he concentrates again.

It's then that a new kind of flames reaches his hand, one greater than any he's shown before, balling up and focusing down until it nearly explodes from the gathered energy.

"Oh fuck! A big one is coming! Derrick, dodge!" Austin shouts.

Flames of Sodom, the fires that bleach away evil... Hendrik announces as he releases his attack.

"What!? Shit!" You shout as you prepare to dodge.

I must admit that you are right anon, it seems no matter how many times I re-worked this roll system it always ends up being the same, maybe it would be better to make it so that as AP increases, you gain 50%, directly proportional to the amount devoted while also changing the roll number?

In that case, considering you've put 210 points in AP, you would get a roll bonus of 105?

If sounds better to all of you, I'm happy to change it, I'm trying to maximize difficultly while keep the numbers interesting, but by the this point, all I want is a roll system that doesn't make everyone go full salt mode.

You dash out of the way, prepared for anything to come, but nothing could prepare you for the disaster that strikes next.

PHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's less an explosion of fire, as it is a torrential storm.

As the flame is powered up to the max and released, the raw amount of power poured into was beyond your imagination.

First the fire explodes outwards in a cross shape, engulfing the 4 corners of the wide room with a wall of flame so tall it nearly reaches the roof.

Then from those walls of flame, embers rain down hell from above, which burst out into their own little fires as they hit the ground. The room which was already burning down, becomes more flame then room.

You have to be dodging around constantly, avoiding each ember, explosion and wall of fire as they lash out, it's a miracle you avoid it without any serious damage, though you do catch a small fire on your suit from time to time that you have to put out.

Once the literal rainstorm of fire stops, it's remnants still engulf the room, small fires act like landmines, making it hard to move, while the cross of fire has shortened slightly, it still takes 4 corners of the room, sectioning the place off and making your area to move insignificant.

And at the epicenter of the blazing death, Hendrik stands, his face still an emotionless mask as he speaks.

"Do you both understand now? You have no chance. Even with your powers combined, my resolve and my undying wrath shall win the day. This room shall be your tomb." He declares.

"Fucking hell..." You can't even deny the plausibility of that claim, if the fires don't burn you to death, the heat will dry you out, or the smoke will choke you to death.

"Hey Derrick! You're not dead right!?" Austin shouts from his end of the room.

"Not yet...But I think I'm getting there!" you shout back.

He laughs, "Since when did you get so pessimistic!? I thought you weren't one for doom and gloom."

"Back in the day I said the same thing to you didn't I...What did you always say back? I'm not pessimistic, I'm realistic? Well guess what, I'm feeling our chances of surviving are pretty unrealistic right now..." you state.

Austin giggles at that, "You think so? Yeah, back in the day, I would say something like that...But now...Now things are different...I'm different." He says, a powerful resolve in his voice.

"Huh?"

"Derrick, we can't defeat this guy going at this normally, I've got something up my sleeve, but I'll need you to distract for just a bit while prepare...Can I count on you?" He asks, power growing around him.

"...Yeah, damn right you can!" You don't know what's happening, but you do know you can trust Austin to pull through for you, so you go with his plan.

"Hahhh....Hahh...Cough!Cough...Damn it..." The smoke in the room fills your lungs, the growing heat throws you off your balance and nearly makes you blank out.

Hendrik looks upon you with a forlorn expression, "What's wrong warrior? Do you not wish to stop me? The bomb will be going off soon and all your allies with it. Are you just going to give up?"

You grit your teeth, "Not on your fucking life!" you answer as you rush forward.

"So you do have the will to stand in you, good..." Seeing this Hendrik smiles as he points his flaming hand in your direction.

"If you're going to die, you should at least do it standing on your feet and fighting!" He exclaims as he fires off a series of flaming bolts at you.

You dodge through, duck and weave, but the flaming balls of death are too numerous and fast, you can't possibly dodge them all, the most you can do is avoid getting hit in vital areas.

-60 Life

-60 Armor

However, in closing the distance, your armor is slowly burned away and the attacks reach the exposed flesh of your arms and stomach, scalding them and nearly burning the skin right off them.

"Fuckkkkkk-" you groan in excruciating pain, but it's not enough to stop your advance.

"You're more hardy than you appear! Fine then, face me you godless sinner!" he shouts as he brandishes his knives.

Gritting down hard on your teeth, you refuse to back down as you swing wildly at him, your fists fill with unending resolve and fury.

He dodges many of your strikes, slipping in some stabs and cuts that pierce your armor and make gashes in your flesh.

THUD

"Eragh!" But the exchange isn't one sided, for every stab he slips in, you land a solid blow to his body, rocking him to his core with your Nen empowered fists.

"You're not taking me down so easy! You've lost Hendrik!" you exclaim.

"Damn you..! FALL YOU BASTARD!" It's as you shout this that emotion finally reaches his face, pure rage gives him an almost demonic look as he rages back at you.

This non-stop, bloody exchange continues without break, meanwhile, the true purpose behind your blind, insane charge becomes clear.

Kneeling down and concentrating his power, Austin goes still and quiet the energy around him grows and pulses, with nothing to interrupt him and plenty of time to meditate and calm his nerves, he prepares an attack that gives even a natural born Nen genius a run for his money in terms of power.

phewwwwwwww.... But it's a small, quiet noise that brings the both of you to a stop, or rather, it's the feeling that accompanies the noise that stops you.

In the air, a raging power, one violent yet serene, quiet yet clear, powerful beyond words, yet subdued in it's nature looms behind you.

And along with this feeling, despite standing in a burning room, with a temperature so high it would break a thermostat, you can't help but feel an ice-cold chill as a freezing wind blows through the room.

"What...is..that?" Hendrik looks back to the source of the frozen winds and sees Austin kneeling down.

Beneath his feet, a sheet of ice grows rapidly, spreading covering the room, as it reaches the fires, at first it melts, but the quantity and power of the ice overcomes the flames, eating them up as they continue to expand rapidly.

White Winter, The true tragedy is that you know it will all come to an end... Austin whispers out.

"Austin...you..." you don't even know what to say.

"Derrick...if I were you right now..." He says as he takes off his helmet, revealing his face underneath.

"I'd dodge." He suggests.

PHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Suddenly the light winds becoming a roaring snowstorm that puts out all the fires.

"Whoa! Christ!" You leap away, sensing something truly dangerous coming.

Hendrik doesn't get so lucky however, it's as swift as it is sudden the sheet of ice that covered the floor, springs up, cracking, splintering, sharpening it's edges and narrowing it's points.

It's then that what was once a sheet of ice, becomes a wall of frozen spears, that rush forward at unstoppable speed.

Hendrik attempts to blast away and melt the wall of ice, but it's hopeless, the cold is greater than the flame and the wall eats it up for breakfast, leaving Hendrik no other option then to be impaled upon the wall of ice and promptly devoured by it.

"Ah-!" Hendrik doesn't even get the ability to scream as thousands of icy spears pierce into his body, then freeze his insides solid, frosting u his body everywhere but his head.

"...." You're left speechless as the ice spearwall stops just short of you and you're left to look up at the crucified Hendrik silently screaming in agony as he's frozen to death.

"Thanks for buying time, it takes a little while for me to charge up and attack that size." Austin says as he approaches from behind the spear wall, he himself a little frozen from the ice.

"You...when did you learn how to..." you can barely speak.

he lets out a cold breath as he laughs, "That's a long story to tell, first of all-"

He approaches Hendrik's hanging body and pulls something from his jacket, it's the red button that activated the nuke.

"You-You scummmmm-" Hendrik angrily whimpers out, but he's powerless to stop Austin as he presses the button twice, deactivating the nuke.

>Dire objective: Disarm the bomb [Complete]

>Mission: Stop the terrorists [Complete]

Austin lets out a sigh of relief, "Phew! That was close, you really made me sweat buddy! In more ways then one."

"You-you-Dog of the governmenttttt, do you know what you have done!?" Hendrik, shuttering from being frozen asks.

"Stopped you from killing 1000s of people? I know, you don't need to remind me."

"Don't-Don't play dumb-ah-ah, you know that's not why I did all this! The Truth-The-The-Truth must be known!" He exclaims.

Austin shakes his head, "There is no truth, that's just a lie you made up to justify your madness."

That really sets him off, "You-You-! Fucking dog! Yet another Devil in disguise!"

He then looks over to you as he speaks, "You-warrior! You saw it didn't you-you-you saw the abominations! That lab, those syringes!"

"I...I..." you can barely speak.

"You must tell the people! Monsters like him-him, they wish to hide that, hide the truth!"

"Don't listen to him Derrick, he's delusional." Austin shuts down.

"I am not! Don't listen to his lies! He's in league with them, he wants to cover it all up like the rest! Don't let him! Young warrior, if you wish for freedom, don't fall for their lies!" He preaches to you.

"Lies?" you question.

"If you haven't been enslaved by them too, you must rise up! If you do not this country-nay- this whole world is doomed-"

BANG! But before he has a chance to finish speaking, Austin pulls out his pistol and puts a single shot between his eyes.

"What-Austin!" you shout out.

"What? He was talking crazy and I wanted to put him out his misery." He explains.

You narrow your eyes at him, "Are you sure that's all this is...He was saying some pretty crazy stuff there." you point out.

"Really? Are you going to believe the ramblings of that madman over your best friends?" He asks.

"...." you don't answer.

Austin scratches the back of his head, "Oh well...I guess it's a little screwed up to call myself your best friend after we haven't talked in over 8 years now...I guess we've got a lot of catching up to do."

"You're telling me..." you agree on that at least.

"Alright then, let's have a little catch up then, first off, I'm going to radio in a heli for us and we're getting the hell out of here." He promises as he leads you out of the underground facility, and away from the dead bodies of Hendrik and his followers you leave behind in it.

Time: 10:32, Approaching Midnight

Location: 400 meters above Area 49, returning to base

The bright lights of the base shine like stars on the ground from the skies above, the only thing that overshadows that beautiful light, would be the flashes of residual gunfire, as the remnants of PONF are hunted down and finished off.

But that's no longer your concern, right now, your greatest issue is the man sitting adjacent to you in the helicopter.

His arms put behind his head to relax, but you can tell he's anything but relaxed with the awkward atmosphere permeating in the air.

You're both silent for a good while, not sure what to say, not sure which question would best to ask, or most appropriate.

"So...Where do we begin?" Eventually though, Austin dares to break through awkwardness and asks a question.

You laugh wryly, "That's a good question, I've got so much I need to ask you...so much I've wondered for so long..."

"What do you know, I was just thinking the same thing." He agrees.

"What do you mean?" you ask.

"Since I broke the ice, let me draw first blood here and also ask, Derrick? Where the hell have you been the last 8 years?" He questions.

"....." That questions makes you calm up,

"I heard you dropped me off at the hospital, but I never heard back from you once from then. No visits, no calls, no sign of your existence...it was like you just disappeared off the face of the earth." He says in a forlorn tone.

"I'm sorry man but...After everything that happened with Xander, he got the whole Mafia community after my ass, so I couldn't go anywhere they'd suspect me of going to."

"I couldn't go to my old houses, our hangout spots, our old bases and I couldn't...I couldn't visit you or Rickard, since there was telling what would happen to you if I dared. But even so...even so I'm sorry." you apologize.

He laughs, "No need for the sob-fest, I wasn't asking for an apology, I just wanted to know why and if that's what happened...yeah, I can see why you couldn't be with me then..."

"...." You find it hard to speak, you feel more suffocated talking to a former friend then you did in a smoke-filled room.

"Okay, now your turn." He states.

"What?"

"Your turn to ask me a question. You can make a hard one too, since I just put you on the spot like that. Go on, give me your worst." he asks.

"Oh, well in that case..."

The first question you have to ask is...

>How are you able to see and hear again?

>What have you been doing these past 8 years? Where have you been?

>What happened to Rickard? I haven't been able to see him...

"I'm going to ask the same you thing you did, where have you been all these years? What have you been doing?" you ask.

"That's a long, long story to go through, so let me you give a basic gist." He starts.

"After you dropped me off at the hospital, I spent at least 6 months lying in a bed. My life, if you could even call it that, was no different then a corspe's."

"I couldn't walk anywhere, talk to anyone, I had trouble sleeping due to the hellish pains and never-ending bad dreams of...our time with Xander..." He says with a hitch in his voice.

"Yeah...I get that..." You still have nightmares about Xander's torture chamber as well.

"Yeah, well whenever I remember all that, I would get night terrors and freak out so bad that I...I tried to kill myself a few times whenever I had a really bad episode..." He adds.

"Oh god..." It pains you to hear that.

"Of course I failed, being blind and death means you can't tie a noose, or find a window to jump out of very easily." He explains.

"So the doctors diagnosed me with PTSD and suicidal tendencies and gave me all these pills that just knocked me the hell out all the time." He explains.

"So, for like 6 months of my life, I was blind, deaf and spent half my days in a coma-like sleep so I wouldn't off myself...I don't want to sound like a pity-party...but living like that was hell, absolute hell..." You can see the pain in his eyes as he recalls it.

"Well...that changed right, what happened?" You ask.

That's when a smile reaches his face, "What happened? A miracle is what happened." He starts.

"A miracle?" you question.

"I was saved...saved by Moon Medicines, by a guy named Soren moon." He answers.

"By Soren..." You knew Austin had something to do with him, but it still catches you off-guard to hear him mention that name.

"He cured my blindness, made it so I could hear, walk and talk again. He made it so I could live my life again..." He says with a look of great gratitude.

"After that, he offered me a job, he told me that he saw great potential in my skills and he took me under his wing and trained me." He explains.

"Then I spent 4 or so years training, working on my studies, my leadership skills, my ability to fight...Oh, by the way, it was training under him where I learned Nen." He adds.

"...And after that?" You ask.

"And everything after that is what you see before you today. After I was deemed trained and ready, they gave me a command of the ATU and I've been doing all kinds of jobs all over the globe, we're sort of like a kind of international police force and I'm the chief." He says with a smile.

"But you're not a Hunter right?" you ask.

"Not on paper anyway, but we do so many joint operations with the organization that I might as well be. My paycheck is just as huge as what you guys get from your licenses." He brags.
>>
"Man, you really moved up in the world huh?" The story gives you a bunch of mixed feelings, but the main thing you feel, is happy

"Yeah, I'm just a little sad you weren't there to do it with me..." He whispers

"....." You find yourself being unable to speak in this talk far too often.

"Sorry, didn't mean to damper your mood again? You had other questions?" he asks.

"Yeah, I wanted to know..."

What will you ask next?

>How are you able to see and hear again?

>What happened to Rickard? I haven't been able to see him...

"Can you explain exactly how you're able to see and hear again?" you ask.

"Oh you want to know? I'm happy to tell you!" He answers.

"You're pretty excited, that's rare of you." you point out.

"That's because the answer is pretty wild man. The answer is, you won't believe this...Nanomachines!" he answers.

"Wait...what?" you blurt out.

"I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but yeah man, Nanomachines, they're real and I'm living proof they're miracle of modern tech!" he explains.

"How exactly can Nanomachines fix blindness and deafness?" you question.

"Well...it's not as much I've been fixed as I've been modified." he corrects.

"Can you give me a straight to the point explanation?" You demand, tired of these half-assesd answers.

"Okay, while I'm not exactly sure how it works myself, but I got these Nanomachines pumped into my system. Now these little fuckers work their way up to my head and set-up these data-link things with my nerves." He starts.

"By connecting directly with my optic nerve and setting up shop in my ear canal, these guys essentially act as artificial eyes and ears for me. They record sound and video and download them super-fast into my brain, just like real eyes and ears do." He explains.

"What? Can it really work like that? You sound like you've become a cyborg or something, like you're part computer." you point out.

"Of course it works that way, The human brain is basically biological computer. It takes in data and processes the same way a machine does." He points out.

"Only difference is that human output is dependent on individual response versus a computer which only prints out preprogrammed responses." He explains.

"For example, if you ask a computer, How was your day? and it answered, Fine how about you? that would never change, the computer would always be the same, unless you programmed in a new response." He starts.

"However, if you I were to ask you that...Hey Derrick, how was your day?" He asks.

"Absolute shit, I nearly burned alive and I have a burning headache." You answer.

He laughs, "But if I asked that question earlier, you would have a different response right? That's what I mean, stuff like that is the only difference a human has versus a machine." he explains.

"While when you put it like that...but still, you record video with your eyes now?" you ask.

"Yep, I can even play back stuff I saw earlier if I give a certain voice command. I can even magnify my eyes to see things at a distance too, it's pretty awesome." He brags.

You give a wry smirk, "Oh yeah, next you're gonna you're going to tell me to call you Murphy right? Huh Robocop?"

Austin bursts out laughing, "I'm happy to see you're still as much of witty asshole as before. Never change man."

You smile, "And I'm glad to see you're still as much of a smartass, emphasis on the smart."

"Thanks man, hearing you say shit like that reminds me of old times, when you used to give Ricky all kinds of nicknames that piss him off so much..." He reminisces.

"Hey, I didn't piss him off half as much as you did, you put more effort into ruining his day then you did anything else in your life." You counter.

"That's cause the days we spent pissing him off were some of the highlights of my life, nothing made smile more then hanging out with you, the guys at Carpe-diem, messing with Ricky...yeah, those were great days..." He says with a happy, yet mellow tone.

(They were great while they lasted...) you think, not daring to bring up the time it all fell apart.

Instead, you prompt to use this chance to ask your other question, "Speaking of Rickard, where's he? Out of all of us, he got the worst break...did he ever recover?" you ask.

It's then a deep frown takes Austin's face, "Rickard...He..."

"Oh no....He bit the bullet?" you ask.

He shakes his head, "No, you know him, too stubborn and tough for that, he's not dead, though, in his state...I think he might as well be, or he would be better off that way..."

"What? What do you mean?" you ask.

Austin goes quiet for a moment before answering, "Rickard is...closer then you think. Keeping working with the Hunters and you'll meet him."

"That doesn't answer my question, what happened to him?" you ask.

"I...It's better you find that out on your own, It's one of those things better seen then heard..." He explains.

He then looks you in the eye, a look of genuine concern in them, "Just...Be prepared when you do. What he's become...it's not pretty."

"Yeah...got it..." looking straight at him like this, you're reminded that you saw his face among a list of people you have to eliminate, possibly kill.

He nods, "Good man...Boy, we really do have so much to catch up on and so little time to chat...Shit's so serious nowadays, you have so little time to just chat have fun with your friends."

You let a wry laugh that almost sounds like a sob, "Yeah man...just like always, you're so right..."

When you think that you may have to kill Austin, the first friend you ever truly had, the pain in your heart becomes near unbearable.

(Even if he is working with Soren, he's still the same lazy, lovable son of a bitch as before...Netero...Do I really have to...) You can barely bring yourself to think it as you look over at his face again.

He's grown up so much, his face is that of a man's now, not the teenage boy from before, he lost the dye in his hair and is rocking his natural hair color.

The scar on his cheek he got from the acid burns is still there, a constant reminder of your shared past of pain, this is him alright, the real Austin Yardley, talking to him just further reminds you of that fact.

(Do I really have to...Fight him...Is he really an enemy?) you question.
>>
"Derrick..." he sudden blurt out after a long silence.

"Y-Yeah?" you stutter.

"Stop thinking. We both worked enough today." He states.

"....."

He smiles that lazy smile at you, "Let's both just head home and relax a bit alright. We've both earned it."

You can't help but laugh as he reads you like an open book, "Yeah man, let's go home."

The rest of the helicopter ride from there is somber and quiet, you know the worst is yet to come, but for now...for now...

For now you enjoy the peace you have.

>a few hours later...

You returned to your hotel and crashed in your bed as soon as you got back, so tired that the moment your face met the pillow, you fell right asleep.

"Ahhh....errrr..." However, your sleep that night was far from peaceful, you toss and you turn as a strange dream floods your mind.

https://youtu.be/S-Xm7s9eGxU

In this strange dream, you're floating, floating in an ocean of darkness, not in the flighty dream kind of way, in the literal sense, you're literally floating in some kind of black liquid form of darkness.

Inside all you can hear is yourself and the playing of a piano.

It reminds you of the vat of black liquid you saw those half-finished clones, in, except, you aren't looking from the outside-in, you're looking from the inside-out, as if you were one of those clones.

"You are the future..." It's then the piano playing stops and what replaces it is a woman's voice that speaks in a whisper.

Despite you being in a liquid vat, the voice reaches you so loud and clear and it gives this incredible sense of...peace.

The feeling of peace is so great that you can't help but reach out for it, your hand, naked and small, almost like a child's reaches out and touches the glass of the vat.

And as you do, a woman's hand reaches out and presses where your hand is, the only thing separating your touch is a sheet of glass so thin, you can still feel her warmth on the other-side.

"Were you having trouble sleeping?" The woman's voice asks.

"Ahh...ah..." You can't form a response, so all you can do is quiet your noise to show you're calming down.

The woman giggles, "Well don't worry oh young one. You are the future of mankind...You are the key to saving us all...to giving us Peace Ad Infinitum..." She whispers.

"...." Those words give you such peace, such peace that you want to sleep, even though you're already fast asleep in the real world, the you in this world also wishes to sleep.

"Yes...Yes...sleep, your time is not now...so sleep until the day comes..." The woman whispers, driving you further to sleep.

But before you drop, you wish to get a look at her, a look at the woman who gives you such peace.

"Yes boy...Sleep...The future has much in store for you..." With her being so close, you just have to look a little closer to see her form.

And what you see is a white lab coat clung unto a familiar frame, paired with a familiar face.

What you look up to see is raven black hair, a top a beautiful face that has a cool air about it.

You look up to see the face of the woman you know as Rea Springfield staring at you with a loving smile.

"Rest now...You are the future...You are our future, you will save us all, so enjoy the peace while it lasts and know that I cherish you...for you are my..."

What else she says from there is lost to you, sleep takes you and the dream goes dark, lost to you for the rest of the night...

And so the episode comes to a close!

Just as usual, that Thread went on far longer then I had originally intended for, half because my luck is pure garbage, the other half because no matter how much I downsize the sheer amount of content, it's still quite a bit to write and quite a bit to read.

This episode was Derrick's first real day on the job and working in the Terror Division.

Also, I didn't get to mention it in the episode itself, but aside from Derrick, Noell, Flourette, Literalli Whu, Reynauld, Dillion, Peachnia and Landon all joined the Terror division.

Vanilla and Etheline joined the Engineering division and Arztz joined the medical division.

That's not all I neglected to mention in this episode, there were many moments I had to cut-out, not only from this episode, but the previous one as well, in order to make it short.

Yes, believe it or not, but this is the short version of this episode.

But enough about that technical stuff, I have a little bit more to add before I'm truly done, but first, I want to hear you guys thoughts!

What did you think of the episode? What was your favorite moment? Did you like the way I kept switching between characters?

Any and all feedback is highly appreciated.

>What did you think of the episode?
It was pretty good. A good mix of setup and action. The coolest part to me is all the options we had to change the mission, I have a feeling this could've gone down completely differently, for better or worse. And as always the character dialogue was top notch, I especially liked all of the codenames

>What was your favorite moment?
The interrogation scene was super fun and the perspective switch was super cool but my favorite scenes were probably the ones about Derrick and Austin. I look forward to seeing what that has in store in the future

>Did you like the way I kept switching between characters?
Yeah, it reminds me of the train heist from the exam but more varied

WHIRRRRRRRRRRRR

"Okay boys! Set me down here!" Vanilla orders as the Helicopter floats just above the pier grounds.

"Are you sure you want us to drop you off here? Breaks my heart to leave a lady all alone in a deary place like this in the middle of the night!" The pilot states.

Vanilla hops off the helicopter as she speaks, "Don't worry man, if you couldn't tell, I can hold my own in a fight. Plus I'm not fancy enough to be called a lady, most of my pals just call me a bitch." She jokes.

The pilot laughs, "Well if you say so, have a goodnight Captain! Despite all that went down, I'd love to work with you again!" He cheers as he takes off back into the air.

"You and me both! You guys were great! But just so you know, I've already got my own team-! Ah...he can't hear me..." She realizes as he disappears off into the distance.

"....Hahhhhh..." Vanilla says as she turns around, lights up a cigarette and walks along the pier's edge.

https://youtu.be/5i77XwIgDhs

And as she walks her phone goes off, playing her custom ringtone.

"Ah, speak of devil, that's them..." She picks up the phone.

"Hey Vanny? Vanny is that you?" A woman's voice is on the other end of the line.

"The one and only, what do you need Lindsey? Got a job for me?" She asks.

"You bet I do! And it's a big one too! We've got multiple orders of huge weapon shipments and our clients are paying up front." She answers.

"You know, I've been trying to live clean recently, I've become a Hunter and everything, you really should stop calling me." Vanilla advises.

"That doesn't sound like a no to me~" She taunts.

"As if I could ever turn down big money, you know I no matter how much cash I rake in, it's never enough, so, what's the order? Who's paying?" She asks.

"Oh...Well, to be honest, I got 2 bits of bad news...The first is, I don't think you're going to like who are clients are..." She preempts.

Vanilla narrows her eyes, "Lindy, have you been making bad deals in my absence? I swear to God if this has to do with the Civil war in Kakin-"

"That's just the thing, that's exactly what it has to deal with..."

"Goddamn it Lindy! I've told you time and time again, don't make deals with slit-eyes! They pay well, but they're grimy little fucks who always ask for more and when you can't deliver, they don't hesitate to pop your ass!" Vanilla scolds.

"I know, I know, but the money was too good! I couldn't help myself!"

Vanilla sighs, "Well, you and me are the same, put enough money in it for us and we're like sharks in blood-filled water, we just can't help ourselves."

"But still, when you say huge weapon shipments how huge are we talking? I haven't had time to make as many guns as usual and I can't just make that stuff up on the fly." Vanilla asks.

"Yeahhhh, that's the other bit of bad news...You see, since we don't have enough weapons to fulfill the order, I had to cut another deal with someone you really, really don't like..." She explains.

"That a describes a lot of people. Are we talking about generally dislike? Or seriously dislike?" She asks.

"Like super, super-duper dislike..." She answers.

"Oh god, you didn't...not with him..." Vanilla groans.

"He had all the extra guns we needed and he gave me a great discount, a thrifter like me couldn't help but buy!" She explains.

"Oh fuck...I would rather shoot myself then work with that asshole again. Nevermind, I'm not taking this job if I got to go on it with him." She explains.

"Wait! Wait, you aren't working together! You're just going to pick up the goods from him at the port and that's it! Nothing else, I promise!" She explains.

"Really? You're sure that's all he's gonna do?" She asks.

"Absolutely! Vanny, baby! Have I ever let you down?" She asks.

"You don't want the answer to that question Lindy." She answers.

"Rudeeee~ Whatever! You need to head over to Kakin central port by 12 in the afternoon, which, lucky for you, is tomorrow for those guys, so you've got a whole day." She explains.

Vanilla yawns, "Good, I need at least a little time to sleep, I just got back from Hunter work, I need the rest..."

"You're really serious about this whole Hunter thing huh? Ahhhh~ I'd never thought I'd see the day, big bad Vanny doing honest work." She teases.

"Shut up! This job better be worth the money Lindy or it's on your ass!" She shouts.

"Alright! Sounds like a date! Bye-bye~" The flaky woman cuts off the call.

"Ah, I don't know why I work with that woman...Hahhhh...." Vanilla says again as she stops walking, she's reached her destination.

"No rest for the wicked huh...I'm going to have to call in the old team again, plus I'll need a translator and some additional bodyguards if I'm going to Kakin..." She plans.

She turns her head to the sea, seagulls chirping and singing, the strong wind bellow and blow against the pier, the water crashes against the shore and rocks against the single boat docked there.

That boat is a metal giant from a not so far off age, a behemoth of steel and iron, long, powerful guns dotting all along it body, it's like a sleeping dragon in the water as it rocks and creaks with the waves.

"Hiring a translator and extra bodyguards is expensive, is there anyway I can save some cash...Oh wait, if it's muscle and translator I need, I know just the people to call up!" Vanilla phones someone up.

After a few rings and a small wait, she picks up, "Huhhh, Vanilla, what do you want? I appreciate the call but it's so late..." Etheline complains.

"Were you fast asleep Pinky? Sorry, but I need you to fetch blondie and the chink." She asks.

"You mean Derrick and Watts? Vanilla, you shouldn't call them that! That's super offensive and insensitive-"

"Yeah, yeah, I'll publicly apologize to every blonde and Kakaniese person tomorrow, just ring them up and them to come to south pier will you?" She asks.

"Uh, right now? Sure, but can't you just do that yourself?" Etheline asks.

"I could but something you learn from doing business as long as I have, is that if you get a cute girl to ask you to do a favor the likelihood of someone accepting basically triples." She explains.

Etheline giggles, "Then all the more reason for you to do, you're super cute too you know Vanilla." She compliments.

Vanilla goes red at the cheeks, "Shut your mouth and just do it piggy! You come down here as well!"

"What? Why me too?" She asks.

"Stop asking! Just do it already!" Vanilla demands as she cuts the phone call off and tries to wipe the smile off her face.

"Ah shit...Hahhhh...I'm so fucking tired and I've still got so much to do..." She complains.

She then yawns as she moves up to the battleship, "Well, best catch some Z's while I can, I've got yet another long day ahead of me tomorrow...

"Ain't no rest for the wicked..." She chants as she climbs aboard and finds the nearest spot to nap..

And with that, I'm done for real, I'm still open to feedback and will take any and all questions posted in this thread.

As for the date of the next thread...I have no idea presently, schedule is a mess and won't give any definitive dates when I have no idea when I'll be free again.

For now, let us all just enjoy the peace and ready ourselves for what's to come next, it won't last forever, after-all.

it was a fairly solid episode, not my favourite, but that's to be expected. The character interactions were solid and I can't wait for more of best girl next chapter

I can't wait to see Derrick, Etheline, Vanilla, and Watts to raise hell in Kakin

The characters may be good, but this doesn't particularly feel like HxH for me, nor do the Nen powers feel like... Nen powers. I know it's a tall order to ask of a QM, but try to be faithful and pay homage to the experience given to us in the HxH anime or manga.

Thanks for the kind words and this is a fair criticism, I understand what you mean, however if you haven't read my earlier threads, allow me to tell you I'm not particularly going for the original HXH feel, I'm doing my own thing, this is all set in the HXH world, but events, characters and stories all my own original works.

The only reason I choose to run a HXH quest was twofold, 1. I really liked the world and power system and 2.Of the list of other anime-style quests I could of made, HXH felt like the one that would work closet for the story I wanted to write.

If you find this disagreeable, then by all means, you're free think I'm being unfaithful to the original soul of the work and you would be right.

However, as someone who has read many an anime quest, I've learned that people who try and run their quest by re-writing the original story, usually with an OC or two thrown in, don't last very long and lose their novelty fast.

I know this may sound ironic coming from someone running a quest based on an already existing IP, but I believe that if you're going to run a quest, at least 90% of what is written should be your own work, with your own thoughts and feelings put into it, otherwise it won't have any staying power.

Well why not just run a totally original quest then? Why use the HXH name or base it off anything at all? you might ask, well the reason for that is simple, I was hoping that it would bait more regular readers who would come by for the IP and stay for my writing, but in the end I've gotten more people avoiding my Quest because they haven't watched HXH and don't want me spoiling it for them, so that didn't pan out for me.

Forgive the long-winded answer, but let this be known to all new players, if you've come for a true to blue HXH quest, you've come to the wrong place, I only borrow a few characters from the show and use the same world and that's about it, everything else is purely my own work.

If that's not your thing, that's fine, plenty of other good quests out there, Squad 666 quest, tales of a knight and FQ are still running you know?
