“The Dragon Balls aren’t toys! The Namekians were allowed use of them because they knew were responsible!” Elder Kai grumbles loudly.

“Wait, allowed use?” you repeat. “I thought they made the Dragon Balls.”

“They made their own, less powerful versions, and were SUPPOSED to be using them carefully. Using them causes an imbalance in the very energies that flow through the universe, leaving a surplus of positive or negative energy that takes years, centuries to bring back to balance!” he rants at you, Supreme Kai and Kibito rubbing the backs of their necks and looking away.

Well… you have heard about that before, from mom and Piccolo and Trip. And he seems to be under the impression that there’s only the Namekian Dragon Balls. Maybe explaining things might help calm him down? …Or bribery. Bribery with cute girls. Hrmn.

“Look, sir, with all due respect… we’re kinda aware of that already. The buildup of negative energy inside the Dragon Balls due to their ‘flaw’ and everything.” you tell the Elder Kai rather bluntly.

His ranting halts as he stares at you. “Y-you are?” He takes a moment to register that, then narrows his eyes. “…And you’d use them ANYWAY?!”

“We have always been careful with the wishes we’ve made using them. We’re aware they’re not toys, but we also have depended on their power to keep the universe safe. The Namekian and Earth ones and-”

“EARTH ones?!” he exclaims, increasingly irate.

Welp. “Look, we’re short on time here, but I’ll give you a quick rundown…” And so you catch the Elder Kai up on the usage of the Earth’s Dragon Balls, and the various attempts by various nefarious groups to take control of them… especially Towa. It gets him to stop ranting, though he still seems rather grumpy over how frequently they’ve been used. Plus, you get the sneaking suspicion that he doesn’t quite believe all you’re telling him. So, you ask the Supreme Kai to vouch for you on this, as he has probably talked with your mom regarding it.

The Kai nods his head. “Maple has explained as much to me. Not quite in such detail, but she has stressed the importance of keeping them out of the hands of the Demon Realm.”

Elder Kai crosses his arms, shaking his head. “So the work of Demigra and Mechikabura still lingers to this day… a shame.”

“Elder, even if the Dragon Balls these mortals have possess such downsides, I feel that they have also shown a degree of responsibility in their usage.” Shin adds.

Hmm… probably shouldn’t mention your suspicions that Bulma’s been using them to keep herself looking young. Then again most of her family seem to stay rather young-looking, heck even her mom looks like she hasn’t aged a day past 30. …Wonder if this means Pantea’s- hey, no, focus, focus! You clear your throat. “Ahem. Well, sir, would a kiss from a pretty girl help you change your tune?”

Kibito rolls his eyes as he glances at you, Shin frowning at the suggestion. Elder Kai starts to chuckle. “Weeeeell… ehehehehe… w-wait, don’t you try and distract me!”

“But we might need the Dragon Balls to ensure the pretty girls are okay when we’re done stopping Baby.” you lean in closer, giving him a cheeky grin. The other two Kais seem to get what you’re doing.

Elder Kai raises a finger and opens his mouth, ready to protest, but ends up closing it. “…Mnh. Feh. Fair point. But I’ll need a guarantee on this, kiddo!” He shakes his finger at you, glaring.

You back up, trying not to laugh at the display. “W-well… just to make sure we know all our options, what do you propose as an alternative to the Dragon Balls.”

Elder Kai becomes quieter, his eyes looking up towards the halo above your head. “…I will admit that it is a shame someone with such tremendous potential ended up here, especially at such a young age. There are ways to restore one to life without use of the Dragon Balls… ways unique to beings such as us. If it means keeping the universe safe, I can give up my remaining years to you, Gohan.”

Shin and Kibito gasp in disbelief. “Elder, no! You were just freed from the Z-Sword, you cannot give your life up so readily!” the Supreme Kai exclaims. “If anything, I should-!”

“No, you shouldn’t. You’re too valuable to let that happen to.” Elder Kai sits down. “The old should let the young take lead.”

I don't think that's how it works, the energy in the balls is whatever is the opposite nature of the wishes. We've been wishing for good things so it created negative energy. Villainous wishes would create positive energy, or just reduce the negative.

Elder Kai is surprised by your statement. “Y-you’d turn down a chance to return to life without use of the Dragon Balls?”

“Well, there are a few things to consider in this. First, Baby tried to take me over and might do it again. I don’t need a repeat of that.” You tap your halo. “This is enough of a reminder to keep me focused on what I’ve learned and not repeat what happened with him. Second, I don’t need to take an easy way back, especially since I have temporary means of returning to Earth. Stopping Baby first and foremost should come before me being returned to life. Besides, you might need to restore someone else to life just in case things go kinda south with our plans to stop Baby.”

The old Kai’s eyes widen as you explain your reasoning, and a soft smile appears on his face. “Well, strength in someone so young is one thing, but I must admit it is more surprising to see someone your age show that level of wisdom. All right kid. But you better promise that you’ll not do anything else reckless, got it?”

“I’ve learned my lessons, believe me. And I’ll do everything I can to ensure what you’ve all taught me won’t go to waste.”

Kibito nods approvingly, the Supreme Kai smiling at you. “We still have some time before the plan should be set into motion. Is there anything you’d like to do before then, Gohan?”

“Well, first, I’d like to contact my dad back on Earth. I haven’t heard anything from him in a while, and with him still being targeted by Baby, I’m worried. I’d like to make sure he’s okay. And… I kinda want to talk with my friend Pantea too, if there’s time.”

Supreme Kai nods. “Very well. I shall try to contact Son Goku.”

“I’ve got something better.” Elder Kai comments, forming a crystal ball. “I’ve got a bit more experience with long distance communication, this will find your pops in no time, kiddo. Plus you’ll be able to talk more directly.”

“Really? Thank you, sir!” you exclaim, face beaming as you sit down by him.

“Now let’s see… Son Goku, huh? Hmm… think I’ve… wait.” He looks into his crystal ball closer. There’s a strange, static-y fog across it for a moment, until it slowly comes into focus. “Your pops seems to be in a pretty tricky place to locate, but… aha! There we go!”

The image of your father comes into view, at an unusual location, almost familiar. Elder Kai motions for you to come closer and try to communicate with Goku. With a smile on your face, you let out, “…Dad?”

Your father’s face first seems to be surprised, but then lights up with joy as he exclaims, “GOHAN?!” while he jolts up from where he was sitting… accidentally elbowing Vegeta’s face as he does. “Eheh, woops! Sorry Vegeta!”

“Damn it Kakarot, watch what you’re doing!” he growls out.

“DAD!” you repeat, leaning closer. “Dad, where are you?”

“Gohah! Hahaha, man I’m glad to hear from you. Maple said you were in the Afterlife, but you sound like you’re doing good!” His tail sways with excitement. “And, uh, Vegeta and I kinda ended up helping Yurin’s group out, heh heh!”

“Wait, you’re at Yurin’s Ninja Fortress?” you ask in surprise.

“Yep!” Dad seems to grin at Vegeta, the crystal ball moving the “focus” over to get him into view too. He seems skeptical at first that you’re communicating with Goku. Elder Kai turns his hands slightly, telling you the line’s open to him too now.

“What are you guys doing with them?” you question.

Vegeta crosses his arms. “Feh. They were in way over their heads trying to sneak into the Lookout. Baby had his ‘Cell’ goons scouring the place for a few things.”

“Things like Broly.” a third voice adds in, Yurin herself heading up behind them. “And a few others that were sealed and locked away there. Keeping Baby from gaining control of them was a top priority.” She seems to look in the direction of the crystal ball’s focus, smiling warmly. “It is good to hear from you. And we did detect something strange looking in here. I’m glad it was you and not Baby completing his little project.”

“Project?” you repeat.

“Seems he’s had Bulma working on something that’s… ‘scanning’ for telepathic and electronic signals across the Earth, at least that’s what it sounded like. None of the people he’s taken over have been able to find any of us yet, but it’s still a fairly precarious situation we’re in.” she explains to you. “Still… we have been keeping him on his toes. Your father and Vegeta have been quite a big help distracting him. It is a shame we were not able to secure anything else while we were still there, would have made things a lot easier.” Yurin bows her head. “My apologies.”

Dad grins widely, Vegeta letting out a “Hmnh” in… well, at least acknowledgement. Vegeta then turns in the direction of your voice again. “I take it you’ve been keeping up with your training, Gohan?”

“Of course. Might not have taken Baby with me when I died, but I’m more prepared than ever to stop him.”

Vegeta smirks. “Good.”

“They’ve got no idea what’s coming for them. I barely even used half my strength last time we chased them off.” Vegeta adds confidently. “You plan on taking Baby down yourself, Gohan?”

“I’ve trained to face him, that’s for certain. Wherever he’s hiding, he’s not going to be able to rely on that body-snatching gimmick of his, that’s for sure.” You tell him.

Vegeta nods approvingly. “Good.”

You next turn your attention to the woman with them. “And hey, Yurin, it’s okay, you’ve already helped out so much. Thanks for keeping dad and Vegeta safe… and, well, sorry for making you go through all of that when I tried to stop Baby.”

She giggles softly, an appreciative smile on her face. “You’re a good kid, Gohan.”

“Anyway, I shouldn’t keep this going for long. If Baby really is scanning the whole Earth for messages like this, I mean. Though, dad, mom’s able to contact you, right? Let you know what the whole plan is?”

“Bits and pieces. Bit hard for her to reach here.” Goku admits.

“Elder Kai, we might need to give a quick message later to relay everything, is that okay?”

“Sure, sure, so long as it’s quick.” He waves his hand, the crystal ball going static-y for a moment before he refocuses. “Tricky place they’re at. Not much good reception.”

“Best of luck everyone, and see you soon, hopefully.” you tell the three of them, dad giving you a thumb’s up, Vegeta a confident nod, and Yurin a slight bow.

“So, next is this Pantea friend of yours, yes?” Elder kai asks.

“Yeah, her first, then maybe mom if we’re able.” you affirm. Feels like it’s been forever since you talked with her properly. The static returns to the crystal ball, but it’s able to pick up on Pantea’s location much more easily. You see her in what seems to be a lab of some sort, going over a substantial amount of equipment, blueprints, and several circuits and some silvery… fluids in a couple clear canisters. Pantea herself seems to be pretty tired, rubbing her eyes as she’s talking with a few people. “Pantea? Pantea can you hear me?”

Her eyes widen as she looks around. “Gohan? GOHAN?!” she exclaims.

“Pantea! Hey, sorry it’s been so long since we last talked, and… ah, sorry. Just, how are you? You look like you’ve been going through a lot.”

She laughs softly, sitting back. “God, it really is you. Videl, Peppa, Gohan’s able to contact us.”

You notice Elder Kai raise an eyebrow, tilting his hands again, the ball showing more of the scene. Your sister and Videl are with her, along with Giru, 19, and… wait, who’s that large guy in white and blue? He almost looks like… 16? Wha? Drawing your attention away, Elder Kai seems to giggle softly. “Well now, two of them are quite the lookers. That Pantea girl’s got that soft, geeky kind of cute, while twintails there has more of that spunky, tough girl look. Nicely sized chests on them too. Very nice. Ehehehehehe~”

Supreme Kai hangs his head. “Elder…”

“Heh… yeah. Giru and 19 helped with that. 16’s willing to help us fight Baby.” She rubs her eyes, a little smudge of grease getting on her cheek. Peppa points it out to her, Pantea Clothes beaming up some cloth to wipe it off with. “Spent… quite some time working to upgrade him and 19. Should be completely ready to deal with Baby now.”

Peppa looks around, trying to find where she should look to get into contact with you too. “Gohan… you’re okay…” she starts, her voice wavering a bit.

“Eh, relatively. Still kinda dead at the moment, but I’ll be able to see you soon, sis.”

“Hmm…” Elder Kai squints. “Yep, too young.” he comments dismissively.

You sigh and just hope she didn’t hear that. Peppa continues, “Bro, what’s it been like? I know mom said something about you training with the Supreme Kai and everything, but she wasn’t big on the details. And… we’ve had other things to deal with too, like keeping Basilea under watch, and just… ugh.”

“I’d like to know too. Can you fill us in, Gohan?” Pantea asks.

“Well, it’s a bit of a story…” You explain everything you can, giving as many details as possible, but hurrying through things quickly to get them all up to speed. Freeing the Z Sword, training with Supreme Kai, shattering the sword, releasing Elder Kai, and finally mastering how to exorcise beings like Baby. You do add in that Elder Kai kinda… reminds you of grandpa Roshi. In many, many ways.

“Oh. Ohhh.” Pantea shakes her head. “Riiiiight.”

Videl crosses her arms and rolls her eyes, but it’s your sister who seems most interested in this revelation. “So he can draw out one’s hidden power like Auntie Trip?”

“Like it? Hah! Girl you have no idea how much more I can do with it! I’m able to help bring out power beyond one’s natural limits.” Elder Kai butts in. Peppa’s face lights up. “Buuuuut this doesn’t come cheap, you know!”

“Heh, wouldn’t guess so.” sis replies cheerfully. “Still, it’s... good to hear from you again, bro.”

“Yeah. Glad you’re okay too, sis. Stopping Basilea, huh?”

“Her, the Machine Mutants, and everything, too. Baby’s never going to get his wish now, and-” Peppa stops, the smile on her face fading. She lowers her head. “…I’m sorry.”

“Huh?”

“I… I’m sorry. I did… I did stop them from using the Black Star Dragon Balls… but… but I used the wish to remove them and the negative energy in the Dragon Balls. Instead of… instead of bringing you back.”

“YOU WHAAAAAAT?!” Elder Kai exclaims in disbelief.

Peppa’s a little surprised by your reaction initially, then smiles warmly. “Yeah. At least, I think they are.”

“So that’s a load off Piccolo’s mind too. Heh, and here the Elder Kai was all worried about the negative energy buildup…” You glance over at him, the old man grumbling with his arms crossed.

“Y-yes, well! This was still a temporary thing, you know. You may have undone the buildup of negative energy, but you’ve also gotten rid of the only things that could get rid of them. You’ll have no chances to ever repeat this. So make sure you are VERY careful with their usage in the future! Only the most responsible wishes should be made from this point forward!” He lectures… well, basically everyone, but he seems to be lecturing Peppa most directly. “And that planet you made the wish on IS going to be destroyed, you know. No way to fix that.”

“Well… yeah, but the planet’s evil.” sis responds- wait what.

“Planet… was evil.” You’re making sure you heard that right.

“Yeah. It was M2, the second Machine Mutant world. Or, more specifically, it was the world that General Rildo had taken over and made part of his bodymass. Last I saw it the thing was sprouting arms and legs trying not to end up smashed into the planet Basilea was on.” Peppa explains.

Elder Kai seems like he wants to protest that logic, but he can’t, pouting… kinda comedically as he turns his head away. “Yeah, well, point still stands, you got rid of the negative energy, sure, but-” His eyes widen again. He gulps. “…Kid. Where did you send the negative energy, anyway?”

“Well like, some kind of tear in the fabric of spacetime or something opened up and the Dragon Balls and negative energy were just kinda… thrown out into it. Place that looked like it had strange crystals floating all over, a weird void or something.”

Elder Kai gulps. “…Oh I do so hope that’s not where I think it is.”

“Sir? What do you mean?” Shin asks.

“Sending all that power away to… a place outside of time, where some dark forces were once sealed.” He rubs his head. “Chronoa is going to be maaaaad.”

“…The Supreme Kai of Time?”

Peppa gulps and looks down apologetically, rubbing the back of her neck. “I, uh… sorry… I didn’t know it would-”

“No, no, you couldn’t possibly HAVE known. Still, this is going to be a HUGE risk going forward. I only hope the ol’ girl is able to handle something like that…” Elder Kai sighs loudly.

He starts to give you a… rather suspicious look, with a tiny, knowing smirk appearing on his face, but he decides against making any comments. Bringing one hand up, he seems to… make some headphones for himself and stands up, walking away and putting them on, keeping one hand in the direction of the crystal ball. “Knock yourself out, kid, I’ll let you chat with your girlfriend for a bit.” He looks to Shin and Kibito. “Hey, you two! Give the boy some privacy!”

Simultaneously, you and Pantea both let out, “She’s not my-!”/“He’s not my-!” before the two of you hang your heads as it’s apparent he doesn’t care about those protests. Pantea especially seems a bit more flustered by the comment as she leaves the room. There’s a bit of silence as you let her walk away, Pantea coming to an empty room, leaning against a wall and taking a deep breath. “…So. We got a bit?”

“No, it’s not on you.” she interrupts. “Don’t… blame yourself for that, either. Don’t go into this trying to atone for it. Just… do it for the same reason you want me to do it. To save the people we care about and keep the Earth safe.”

Heh. Okay, she’s got a point there. “All right. We’ll free our friends, save the world, and stop Baby for good.”

She looks upward. “I… I’ll be honest. I don’t know how well I could fight against him if he did manage to keep control of you.” Sighing again, she smiles. “…Thanks for that, though. I knew in my mind that I couldn’t really change anything if I were there, and trying to focus on it would just distract me… part of me focused on that project with 16 and 19 so hard just to keep those thoughts out of my head. Hearing you say it finally made it stick.”

“…Probably am going to miss finishing Zelda with you.” you comment to try and ease a bit of the tension. Plus, well, it’s true. Bah. Or… do they allow videogames in the afterlife?

Pantea laughs. “I can wait.”

Pantea tho... I really expected her to chew our ass out for dying, and she didn't. It's like with Gohan she's always set to "NICE" even though she's Bulma's daughter, and there's hardly ever any moments of her being a bitch for comedic effect. With them both being nice to each other but still going "We're not dating" their relationship is not exciting or interesting, but it's there I guess? I dunno, I suppose I've been conditioned to view relationships where personalities clash with sparks as desirable.

And I don’t want you to do that either. Because you’re not him. You’re you. The same Gohan whose face lit up the day I showed the trick with the Shinespark on Super Metroid, the same Gohan who started to figure out the first level of Megaman X on his own-”

“Did Trip ever figure it out on her own?” you ask, laughing as you remember her telling you about that.

Pantea giggles. “She did get past the first level. P-point is…”

“I get it. And thanks.”

Pantea stands up straight and finally heads out. “See you soon, Gohan.”

Elder Kai lets out a yawn, stretching his arms and rubbing his back. He looks to you, a knowing grin on his face, as he removes his headphones. “Well, you seem to have quite the sweetheart waiting for you.”

Glare-pouting at him, you grumble out, “Sir…”

“Relax, relax! I ain’t gonna pester you over it, kid.” He pats your shoulder. “Shin! Kibito! He’s done, get your butts back here!”

The two other Kais walk back, Kibito grumbling about the Elder being rather… crass. The Supreme Kai places his hands behind his back. “It is time to coordinate this plan. We only have a short window before the operation will begin. I have already sent word to King Yemma to ready a Day Pass on Earth for you, Gohan. You will have 24 hours starting the moment you arrive back in the world of the living.” He looks to the older Kai. “Elder, may we use the crystal ball to help facilitate this?”

“Sure, knock yourself out.” He sits down, waving his left hand. “You got someone you want to focus on with this?”

“Maple Son-Mahogany, on the same planet that Gohan’s friends are, and Tien Shinhan, on another world. They will be the main leaders alongside myself.”

The crystal ball forms a sort of split screen across it, one showing entering a conference room with Raditz, the other Tien sitting down in a mansion’s conference room surrounded by many more people. You see uncle Acer and auntie Chi-chi near him. “Don’t take too long with this.”

The two of them look up. “Supreme Kai?” they speak in unison, most everyone else regrouping with them.

“Good. This connection is working as intended. From the top?”

They nod, and step-by-step they run down the major parts they’ve settled on. Team Lookout have Supreme Kai and Kibito on it first, with them able to move to it instantly, and Acer leading a few people by vehicle towards it. Izumi, 19, Ume (from Yurin’s group of ninja), Sachie using the Nimbus, and Monty as the pilot. Priority there is to free the Sacred Water and release as many people from Baby’s control as possible. It’s likely he has some people on the Lookout still, so they need to be stealthy. Once the Sacred Water has been used, Shin will free Trip and Piccolo from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Near, but not too near, Goku and Vegeta will be leading a group taking on the Cell Sentai and keeping them away from the Lookout, with Raditz, Chi-chi, Krillin, Lazuli, Keli, Shao, and a few more of Yurin’s group, with… Monty again helping get a few people there. Their job is to keep the Cells preoccupied, Chi-chi there to help focus on healing in case any of their heavy hitters end up in critical condition, due to only having two Senzu to work with.

Pantea will be leading a group headed to Capsule Corp to shut down whatever device Baby had Bulma come up with. 16 will be on that team, along with Giru, Videl, Zarid, and apparently… Monty too, and his butler. There’s something about a mech?

Lastly, will be the team taking on Baby himself. Mom, Chuu Lee, Tien, Yurin, you, and sis. They have a good idea on where Baby might be residing currently, but there will still be a bit of a search to make sure he’s not going to pull a fast one on anyone. He most likely is in control of one of the strongest remaining beings on the planet, which means you’ll have a shot at exorcising him from whoever it may be.

“So far so good. Does anyone have any questions?” the Supreme Kai asks.

Can Peppa object to the Androids being brought? Gohan doesn't know of Pantea's exact circumstances, but Pantea, who is currently quarantined for being infected with something that affects both organics and machines, just got all up in two mechanical beings, and who knows what she did to their insides and programming.

I mean, I would have liked to have 19 with us, but it would have been better if Pantea did nothing.

We've discussed if there's a way to check if the androids have been compromised with Giru or one of the Eight Paths people, but Giru is a Machine Mutant and fibbed to us before whether he wanted to or not, and I'm not sure if Buddha does machines.

And I think Peppa would do this because she did say to Videl that they would need to steel themselves against friendly faces no matter what if they wanted to succeed.

I still think that blindly trusting others is bad, and that methods to prove trust should be put under further scrutiny, but most don't care and like the new robot bodies.

So someone knows if a Machine Mutant is taking them over from what we've seen with Baby, but what about the unconscious? Pantea did work on the androids all night, so there may have been a Brief window in which a Machine Mutated Pantea could have tweaked her work some, like updating KillGoku.exe into EradicateSaiyans.bios and literally pour her sweat, blood, and tears into making their bodies all while she was dreaming of Rocket Fists.

And when she wakes up, the Machine Mutant unbinds and regresses to their original site of infection, no observers the wiser.

It's like you said a while back, Bulma is the scary one of the Machine Mutants, so even an unaware Pantea is a bag deal.

I get that this is about character motivations and not an overall strategy, but consider this:

Peppa has already been there. Doubting herself, alone, with everyone on her team captured and likely infected. She did have that kind of paranoia and despair. What got her through, what saved not just Peppa but her friends and family and let them triumph was setting that paranoia aside and really trusting Giru. Putting faith in the connection they forged over what he had been programmed to do. 16 and 19 are friends, and they're here to help us win back our home. Peppa knows it, and she knows that the last time suspicion and fear like this reared up inside her, trusting in a friend was the way forward. You're not wrong that these feelings may exist, but I think Peppa would push past them, especially knowing they'll need all the help they can get in the battle ahead.

You smile confidently. “If he is in Godzilla, he’ll be an even easier target for me. I’ll be able to pull him out of there in no time. Same goes if he’s taken over Gamera. Though… that’s only one option. What if Baby’s taken control of one of those Cell guys?” Baby could even use Daikon as a human shield of sorts to get at you, sis, and uncle Raditz, but maybe not the main host.

You notice sis turn her head towards someone not in view of the crystal ball, asking, “Well? Is it a possibility?”

The voice that replies sends a shiver down your spine. “Baby might try to take control of them if he gets strong enough, but there aren’t any who’d be able to give him enough of a boost to take over each one individually. I was hoping he would anyway, though, but your brother probably scared him enough that he’ll be more cautious.”

Basilea. “…She’s just, sitting there with you?” you ask.

“Not much she can really do at the moment. Plus, she’s given us some info on the Cell Sentai. Not really all that close with them or Baby. Was even willing to steal Baby’s wish away… though hers wasn’t any better. Guess that doesn’t matter now.” Peppa tells you. You hear a huffed, angry snort and some rustling. “Well, anything else we should consider?”

Looking around, you notice the remains of the Z Sword on the ground some distance away. “…Wonder if Melchior could repair the blade the Elder Kai was in, it was a pretty useful training tool. Just, you know, without Elder Kai in there anymore.”

Acer seems to realize something. “Baby probably DOES have Melchior under his control right now. Which means he’s got the best weaponsmith on Earth working for him.”

“That could be a problem.” Tien admits.

“…The remains of your sword are still there, aren’t they, mom?” you ask, some less than pleasant memories resurfacing. “Maybe the Z Sword could be used to help restore it, but if Melchior’s under Baby’s control, Baby might have it.”

“Guess I’m gonna have to check on that ASAP.” Maple stands up, arms crossed, a serious look on her face. “It’s about time to begin. You guys relay all you can to Goku. Let’s get this started.”

Gohan’s got his mission. And you’ve got yours. Okay Izzy, head in the game. You’re brought to the mansion’s main driveway… well, honestly, it’s more of a runway than a driveway. Cocoa and Lime look to you as you stand beside Sachie and Monty, Cocoa’s parents and her father’s coworkers talking with the adults a bit. Baozi looks at you all, pouting slightly. “No fair. You guys get to save the world and everything, while we’re stuck here.”

“Mama and dada said we can get lots of cookies though!” Marron exclaims excitedly, Icarus and Groucho heading to her.

“It’s for the best, really. You’re a strong kid, Baozi, but even where we’re going, it’s going to be really dangerous.” you tell him.

“But dad’s down there, and he might be in trouble!” the boy protests. “And so is Daikon! And Uncle Nappa! And dad is still there!”

“Yes. They are. Which means you’re going to keep your tail right here, mister.” Shao tells him, walking over. “Your dad wouldn’t want you showing up and putting yourself in danger just because you want to help him, you know that.”

Icarus nuzzles the kid gently when he pouts at his mother, calming him just a bit. The dragon then looks to you, walking over and pressing his head against your arm, cooing softly. He’s worried, and even he seems like he wants to go with you. Aww...

‘And just what did you have in mind?’ she asks telepathically. You share a few ideas you were thinking on. Kinda on the spot, but hey, it’ll keep Baozi from worrying so much about this. “…All right.”

“YOU MEAN IT?!” he asks, stars in his eyes. “OOOH! OOH! CAN MINE HAVE FLAMES ON IT?! TO MAKE IT GO FASTER?!”

Sachie giggles. “Reminds me of MY brother.”

“Weeeeell, let’s give this a shot first!~” You Clothes Beam him one, similar to the classic Crane School Gi, though blue and white in color, an embroidered pattern of darker blue flames all on the blue section. Baozi’s overjoyed, even little Marron calling the new look cool.

“…You’ve got a bit of a knack for design, Izzy.” Lime comments, leaning closer. “Though, given that outfit you made earlier, guess that’s only natural.”

“You can thank my mom for that. But, I’ve got another one, so let’s give this a try too!” You Clothes Beam up a second outfit for him, this one being a bit closer to Vegeta’s armor, though with proper pants… aaaand just a few little flame details, like he asked for. “So, which one you like-?”

“I LIKE BOTH OF THEM!” he exclaims, leaping into the air excitedly and running around. “CAN I KEEP BOTH, MOM?!”

Shao humbly smiles and bows her head towards you. ‘Thank you. That’ll keep him a bit more preoccupied while we save the world.’ She then looks at Baozi. “Okay, but you’re gonna have to take good care of them both!”

“I WILL! PROMISE!”

Maple’s group arrives not long after you hand her the other set. 19 heads towards your group, and you see Peppa waving at you. “It is good to see you again.” The android girl looks a bit different from when you last saw her. Bit of a new outfit, and she seems less… static. She has an air of genuine confidence around her.

“Same.” You wave back to Peppa as 19 approaches, giving her a warm smile. “Shame it was under such dire circumstances.”

Tien looks around. “Okay, Lookout Team, you’ll be heading there first, arriving close to when Supreme Kai and Kibito are, with Krillin taking you to Ume. From there, you’ll use what methods you can to reach it as quickly and stealthily as possible. Krillin will regroup with Goku and Vegeta, then teleport the Cell Sentai team to the pair while they keep those creeps off your tail. That all clear?”

“Crystal, sir.” Monty affirms, focusing himself and using the Multi-Form technique.

“Ready to rock!” Sachie cheers out. She and Zarid look at one another, tapping fists together. “Don’t get your butt kicked too bad!”

“And you don’t let yourself get too distracted. You’ve already got a bit of a big head from everything you’ve done recently.” He pokes her on the side of the head, causing her to laugh. “Also, don’t upset that big Kai guy any more than you already have.”

If Monty continues to learn shadow techniques, I figure he could do the Break sword skills from Final Fantasy, which knights and samurais do. Mechanically, it would work like MP Buster, where he lowers as opponent's stats with one blow which he put the gravity of his grudges into.

Could come from Acer noticing Monty's soul weighed down by gravity and getting him to use that resentment at not being good enough to empower himself or depower his opponent much like the Shi Shi Hokodan from Ranma 1/2. Tuffle constructs like Baby and Hatchhyack can use hatred and revenge as sources of power, so I figure resentment would work as well with Shadow Magic.

I call this "Ressenti-Monty."

Did get a little help at least.” She smiles nostalgically as she finishes that comment.

“Nanomachines may be gone, but are you rested up enough?” Videl asks Pantea. A smirk on her face, she adds just a little teasingly, “I don’t wanna show you up, too badly, that is.”

“I’m good, rested enough for my part in this, at the very least.” the purple-haired girl replies, letting out a quick yawn.

“I take it that means you’re all set and ready to stop Baby, right?” Raditz asks the pair of Artificial Humans, tapping 16’s new armor with the side of his fist.

“I am willing to assist in stopping Baby. You focus on your own mission.” 16 replies.

Raditz rolls his eyes as you and mom lock on to Tien’s group. With everything ready, you all head off, appearing in front of a large mansion, a lot of people gathered outside. You notice Izzy with Icarus and wave to her, with her waving back, and then you spot Cocoa and Lime near her, Cocoa’s eyes locking with yours and gaining a huge grin on her face. You also notice Monty look in your direction, smiling humbly. You also notice him… at two other places, one of them being right beside Izumi’s group as 19 heads to her, greeting her warmly, before they depart with Krillin. Multi-form huh. Might be the last chance you’ll get to speak with any of them until this is all over.

Peppa:

Meanwhile…

Home sweet home. Earth seems quiet as you arrive, almost like it’d never been taken over by some alien parasite born from the vengeance of the King of the Tuffles. Your mind briefly considers something you’d heard some time ago, when the visitors from the future warned everyone about how bad things could get. That Baby in the future wanted to seek you out personally, to have as his “Queen” or something like that.

Not gonna happen.

“You ready, Izzy?” Sachie asks, far more thrilled to get this going than she honestly should be. Heh, kinda reminds you of uncle Goku. Monty brings out a Capsule and reveals a decently sized cargo jet as Krillin and the dark-skinned ninja lady talk.

“I’m more than ready.” you affirm. “Mr. Krillin, anything we should be wary of?”

“Seems Baby does have a few people patrolling the skies at the moment. I’m gonna find Goku and Vegeta and hope that keeps things clear as you approach.”

Monty offers to let 19 get into the jet first. “With aircraft, drones, or people?”

“All of the above, but even he can’t be everywhere at once.” the ninja lady says. “I’ve got a pretty good memorization of their patrol patterns though; I’ll be able to guide you.”

“Thank you. Izumi? Sachie?”

“Oh, I’m not going in, remember.” Sachie takes a deep breath. “FLYING NIMBUS!” Up in the skies a yellow cloud bolts towards her, parking at her feet. The ninja girl hops on, excited but now a good deal more focused.

“I’m sure she’d catch you if you were in any real danger.” Lime remarks, a sly grin on her face as she gives you a pat on the shoulder.

“I’m just… I’m just so glad to see you two again.” You close your eyes and keep hugging them.

“Okay, I appreciate it and everything, but you’ve got a planet to save, don’t you?” Lime asks, trying to push you off.

“Yeah, yeah…” you slowly let go and nod at them. “Sorry about that. I just… given all that’s happened I-”

“We get it. Believe me, we get it.” Cocoa shakes her head. “Just… don’t do anything reckless.”

“We’ve come too far to let that happen. We’re gonna make it through this, that’s a promise.”

“…Still sorry about what happened with Gohan.” Cocoa tells you. “He went out of his way to try and find me and mom when he knew he might be in danger, and couldn’t-”

“You got him and Chuu Lee to save not only you and your mom, but your dad and his coworkers. I got your texts, you know.” You wink at her. “Your quick thinking after that probably saved everyone.”

“Okay, better break this up before you two start getting too sappy and I feel the urge to gag.” Lime interrupts. “Peppa? Kick some ass out there. We’ll be cheering for you.”

“Yeah.”

“Thanks, girls.” You breathe in and calm yourself. Okay. You’re good. Got this in the bag. “Time to save the world.”

For a moment Cocoa looks like she wants to stop you… but she decides against it. A slight blush does appear on her face as she reaches into her vest’s left pocket. She glances at a couple pieces of paper… tickets? Cocoa finally gives you a warm smile and says, “I’ll be waiting.”

Back on Earth…

“So, this new Magic-based transformation, how well have you been able to manage it?” 19 questions, both because she is trying to gauge the tactical options available, but also out of genuine curiosity.

“It’s all still new to me, and does seem to still take a bit to use, but the results more than speak for themselves.” Looking forward you spot the ninja lady, Ume, guiding Monty as he flies you rather low to the ground, barely above the tree line. Outside, Sachie looks like she’s having the time of her life riding the Nimbus.

“And you were able to purge Baby’s nanomachines with it. That part still makes me wonder.” 19 looks down, pondering.

“Something up?”

“Basilea had two allies, beings with gum-like bodies, that had some of his nanomachines inside them, but were never once under his control. From what she said, even when Peppa faked a successful takeover by him, pretending to be mad at them for turning on him, there was no indication their bodies were under any sort of attempt at control. Only when Gohan sacrificed himself did they react to the nanomachines.”

“Maybe he’s just not able to control Magical beings.” Ume adds.

“I don’t know, given Udon and Lord Yao, it seemed like it was possible, just… substantially harder. Udon was even able to purge what remained on its own.”

“I suspect that means the trick to it was their biology. Which still leaves the question of how you were able to do it.” 19 looks at you. “Can you go through exactly what you felt as it happened?”

“Hmm… well… I thrust my hand forward as the energy started to flow through me, and this… metallic sensation I was feeling moved out of my arm by the Magic.”

19 ponders again. “Perhaps your magic bares some similarities to the type used by the twins allied with Basilea, then.”

“Going to have to think on that later, there’s something up ahead.” Ume warns. You and 19 both look forward. Seems to be some kind of… bird in the distance? Wait, no, pterodactyl…? Rather big for a- …OH CRAP.

‘SACHIE, DON’T GET TOO CLOSE!’ you yell at her telepathically.

‘Wooooaaaaah! That thing’s huge!’

“MONTY, SWERVE, SWERVE!” Ume tells him, the boy trying to move out of the monster’s line of sight, forcing you and 19 to brace yourselves so you’re not tossed around by the acceleration.

Nearly clipping some trees, the plane stabilizes. “Did we lose him?” Monty asks, panting.

Can’t let ol’ bird brain get to the jet. Gotta act quick. “Monty, keep flying. You’re almost at the Lookout.” You get to the door.

“What are you doing?!” he yells out.

“Distraction! Keep going!” Oh this is going to be a bad idea. You open it up and leap out, not using much Ki and sort of gliding towards the monster as you descend. Rodan roars up at you, and you swear the monster has this most sinister, sneaky, cocky grin across its face. Time to change that. “CLOTHES BEAM!”

A massive, dinosaur-sized shirt smacks into the monster’s face, with it letting out roars of confusion as it ends up falling into the forest below! Perfect! …Or it would be, if not for the fact that it was still flapping its wings had enough to hit you with hurricane force winds. And you’re just a bit too close to avoid it without using some Ki. Crap crap crap crap you’re headed for the trees crap slow down slow down-!

“GOTCHA!” Sachie calls out as she grabs your arm, slowing your descent with the Nimbus, then flying you back up above the trees. You look back at Rodan, still roaring where it landed, confused and angry as it tries to get the shirt off its face.

“That was a bit too close.” you sigh out, Sachie still holding you by the arm. “How far away are we from the jet?”

“I see a tall, white tower in the distance, but no jet.” she replies. “Think it’s already gone up ahead of us.

“Sachie, full speed ahead! We need to get up there ASAP!” you tell your friend. “Fly up that tower and then keep going!” The Nimbus blasts skyward, heading up Korin’s Tower quickly enough that you THINK Korin himself doesn’t notice. It is kinda early in the morning here, thankfully. Sun isn’t up just yet. A good distance away you feel a few familiar Ki signatures, Goku and Vegeta powering up. Near them… four others are approaching, each one a good deal stronger than you were expecting, each one with… what you can only describe as an “uncanny” presence to them Like there are hints of people you know, but none of them feel right.

Wait. Only four?

“Sachie, can you sense anything up there? We should be getting close to the jet, right?” You can very faintly feel Monty, but Ume seems to be hiding her Ki and 19… well, she’s on this mission for a reason.

“Don’t think I can.” She spots the top of Korin’s tower. “Is that it?”

“No, keep going, you should be there soon.” Wait, you do sense some other people… Kibito! And Supreme Kai! They’re up on the Lookout!

…

Wait. Wait there’s something else… what is that? Might be… two more people up there…

You finally reach the bottom of the Lookout, sensing that there are a few others up there. You barely glimpse 19 carrying Monty through one of the windows, Ume helping her. You and Sachie reach them, with your eyes locked on the presences you feel. Some are definitely familiar. Mr. Popo, Yosei, the space lemurs, but… two are definitely not. And all are converging on the Kais, who seem to be deep inside the Lookout. Maybe at the vault, you think?

“Oh this is already making me remember last time in the worst of ways.” Ume comments, clearly dreading what those presences are. “We’ve got more of a fight on our hands than I thought we would, but I doubt they know we’re here.”

“They… who, exactly?” Monty questions with a gulp.

The ninja lady rubs her forehead. “A couple of those Cell Sentai guys from the feel of this. Monty, I need you to lay low, you’ll get hurt if they sense you.”

“We have very little time. We need to do something to distract them.” 19 states. “In order to ensure the Supreme Kai and Kibito can secure the Sacred Water.”

You do have a bit of an advantage right now. “I’m gonna head to the Kais. I’ve got an idea.”

“I’m coming with!” Sachie calls out.

“W-wait, we can’t-!” Ume tries to protest.

“We do not have time to argue about details.” 19 interrupts. “Izumi. Best of luck.”

You nod back at her and start running through the Lookout, Sachie dashing alongside you, even leaping from wall to wall. The two of you briefly raise your Ki, just enough to get the Cell Sentai folks to notice you, a good distance away from the Kais, coming at them from another direction. Monty is still some distance away, trying to find a place to stay out of danger. You’re getting closer. You’re getting closer. You can hear footsteps in the distance. Sachie clings to the wall and slowly moves along it.

“So you felt them too, right? What could they be planning?” an eerie, low but not deep-sounding voice asks a little further away.

“Should we apprehend the weaker ones first before we take the Supreme Kai? Towa would be quite pleased if we capture him alive.” another, more suave voice asks. An unsettling, faux-charming tone, but similar enough to the first that if you didn’t know better, you’d think it would be the first one talking to himself.

“Well… alive enough.” They both start to laugh sinisterly. You and Sachie try to hide yourselves as best you can. You can sense Kibito start to power up. “Oh? Is he inviting us to come at him?” the first voice asks.

“You go ahead. I’m betting the other interlopers are nearby. I’ll have Popo’s group start searching for any others, given the commotion just a while ago.” The Ki signatures you were feeling start to spike up, making sure everyone knows they’re there. Out of the corner of your eye as you and Sachie hide, you see two green figures down a hallway, one more bug-like with a large sort of… “tail” on its head. The other seems to have spiky blue hair and pointed ears. The first moves away as the second looks around. “Now… where could you be hiding?”

‘Kibito, can you hear me?’ you contact the Kai telepathically. It’s a little tricky, and you know this might be risky, so you’ll make it quick. ‘They’re coming at you. We’ve gotta keep them pinned. Let’s hold ‘em down so Supreme Kai can finish this!’

‘…Very well.’

You’ve got this. On three! One… two… THREE! Raising your Ki you leap at the figure and manage to slam your hands onto his chest. “GRAVITY BLOW!”

A sphere of darkness forms around him and forces him down to one knee, his body digging into the floor below him. At the same time, Kibito slams open the door and just barely manages to bring his hands up and paralyze the giant bugman. Just in time, too, as you notice that his head-tail thing was poised to strike. Whew! Sachie manages to leap past them and brings out a few shuriken, filling them with Ki and flinging them at the monster’s head-tail.

“GYAH! OW!” it exclaims… though its voice seems to be filled with annoyance more than anything. Sachie quickly leaps away into the vault behind Kibito, who’s still holding the bugman with his telekinesis. “Okay. That was a bit of a cheap shot there. How long do you think you can hold, though?” it asks with malice dripping from its mouth.

“Izumi Mahogany.” the one caught in your Gravity Blow acknowledges, smirking. You’re holding him… but barely doing any real damage to him. “Baby has been looking for you.”

“I bet he has. And I bet he’s not gonna like how badly we’ll be messing up his plans.” You power up more, even using the Kaio-Ten to try and match the slow increase in the blue-haired fighter’s power. Some distance away you can feel Ume and Popo locked in combat. The Space Lemurs seem to be held in place for a moment, though… Yosei’s still roaming around, away from either Ume or 19. “So are you actually working for him?”

“We’re… assisting him.” He chuckles lowly. “You know, data I have says you’re one of the better Magic users among Maple’s little group of friends and family. I was hoping I’d get a chance like this.” A pulse of energy surges from his body. He slowly starts to stand, struggling against your technique less and less as his strength rises. Finally, with a sudden burst of power you swear feels like when one of the Saiyans transforms jolts through his body, his hair a bit more defined and spiked. He flings his arms out manages to force you back as he breaks free of the Gravity Blow. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Neuros, Sorcerer of the Cell Sentai!”

A snap of his fingers brings out a blast of flame that keeps you away from him. Damn it! Behind him you notice Kibito’s hold on the other member start to waver, losing more and more of his grip. Just in time, you see Sachie and Supreme Kai arrive from the vault… with the Sacred Water!

“Need some help, Hemos?” the blue-haired bug man asks in a cordial tone.

“Just let me get a taste of one of them. That’ll be all.” The larger one licks his lips hungrily.

“Of course. Snack time, coming up!”

In a desperate, swift motion, Supreme Kai holds his hands forward as well, managing to stop the both of them in place… and nearly drops the Sacred Water, only barely managing to grab hold of it with his foot. “Take it! We will hold them!” he orders you and Sachie.

“You think I need my hands to cast Magic? Towa overestimated you.” Neuros mocks, mumbling lowly under his breath.
