You awaken to a black void, seemingly floating around in nothingness. After days of absolute deprivation, a 2x2 checkerboard path appears in front of you. It seems to go on forever with odd twists and turns. You still lack any sense of gravity and continue floating, but it seems almost like the path is still somehow walk-able, despite this seeming impossibility.

What do you do?

(I'll try to hurry the action along)

The path, despite its seeming endlessness was relatively short. You arrive at a mahogany desk. Behind it is a woman in a black cloak with pale skin and black hair. She looks at you through a thin set of glasses with a lily in her hair, before looking up to you.

"... Name?" She speaks with a roughly average voice, with a slight bit more rasp in it.

"... And also your sex and what you look like? I swear, I can't see anything in these glasses."

"Audrey... Tross?..." The lady takes off her glasses and sets them to the side, before putting her elbow on the table and resting on her hand, looking up to you.

Deciding Roll
**Rolled 1 (1d4)**

I responded to Lily: "Whom do you do accounting for and what do you account for? And what did you mean by embezzling funds?"

Lily lifted her head off of her hand and lowered her arm. She sighed and began to speak.

"Who do I do accounting for? It's-... Complicated. The best way I can put it is that I account for souls and I work for the natural order of things. As for embezzling funds... Well, you are dead, as you've probably guessed by now. The thing is, you are not supposed to be... Which means, either my job is in danger because I can't balance the books and that there is likely a god or something of the sort who recently screwed us all more royally than I have. The worst part is you aren't the first person I've seen about this this week! That damn hedge mage or whatever she's been calling herself... So now, what I have to do is "embezzle funds". I have to sneak you back to life without anyone noticing. That being said, I'll send you to a more primitive world so I can pretend you were always there. I recommend changing your name by the way."

I responded with fear toward the lack of knowledge on my unfair fate.

"But what will become of me?! Are you just gonna toss me into the unknown and hope I survive?!"

Lily stared, very obviously un-amused. She then spoke.
"I frankly could not care less if you survive or not. That being said, I will admit that it's a little cruel to just throw you in there. Observe. 100 is the stat of somebody who's dedicated their life to a certain stat."

A screen appears in front of me.

Lily interrupted just in time for me to finish.
"You catch on quickly. I assume you get the idea? Well anyway, you're gonna be severely stronger than most of those around you. ... At least in the magical department... Oh well, maybe you can use that as a supplement. Now... Let's get you into those specs."
Lily got up from her seat and walked in front of me. Within the span of a second, I felt a blunt pain from my torso and saw what looked like myself in front of me. Lily kicked it to the side and it went completely ragdoll limp. She walked up to me holding a cloth, as I got the feeling of pins and needles throughout my entire body. She walked behind me and spoke, as she wrapped the cloth over my eyes.
"Don't worry at all~... I'll be finished very soon."

"I told you it's not gonna be that bad. No need to demonstrate your "iron resolve"."
She tied the cloth tightly over my eyes, before whispering into my ear with sheer malice.
"However... You won't want to see this..."

It was then my body began to get increasingly hot. I could feel a hyper intense and painfully scorching burst coming from under my skin. My blood felt as if it was literally boiling! My skin started to burst off! The force by which it did was so strong that it easily cracked and dislodged most of the bones in my body! Suddenly, a felt a sudden literal heart burn, before having the feeling of being shot in the chest with cannon; following behind was my passing out-

"..."

My mind was somehow conscious, but I felt to be at a state of non existence. I spoke to myself in it, trying to collect my thoughts.

"Where am I?..."

Despite this, with how different mine were, I did not believe that I did I great job of blending in as an average person. I rubbed my head and began to speak.

"I hope nobody mistakes me for a tavern maid..."

I walked forward toward the passers by and thought on what I should do for a minute.

Wait, nvm. You're both half right. It was stated at the beginning MC died, so she was given a new body when she arrived in the new place, HOWEVER she has the same body and no actual ties to the world. Therefore, she is technically reincarnated and practically transmigrated.

I stepped out to find somebody to ask. The second I did, I was getting odd looks, some of which being downright lecherous, staring in certain places. However, I wasn't much better. I was a little taken aback to see humans with animal features, humans with pointy ears, and so on. I asked the first normal human I saw, which wasn't hard, since they appeared to be the majority. He was a tall slender man who wore a brilliant blue robe, strewn about with ornate silver leafed patters sown on and some jewels. He wore a red tie, which his long black hair gently stroked with the wind's aid. He was one who appeared to be quite the gentleman and scholar. Before speaking to the man, I whispered.

"Observe."

He spoke with a bubbly, charismatic, yet sophisticated voice.
"Yes, if I have an answer to any inquiries you may have, I will be happy to inform you on them. As for you alien nature, it is rather easily deducible by your-..." He looked me up and down. "Exotic... Clothing."

I immediately begun questioning.
"Where can I find a map of this place?"

"The cathedral has one on the wall, there are some on the gates, some guild houses have them around. I know for a fact the explorer's guild has one. You can also buy them from bookstores, scribe houses, and much of the like."

"Where are we?"

"We are in Aleth of the Crales Empire. Their capital city."

"Where can I get some more fitting clothes?"

"Depends on the amount of coin you can rouse up. Each wealth class in town seems to also have its own market, so if you want to appear as a pauper, shop at the clothing stores in the lower end and so on."

"Can you list all the interesting places in this city?"

The man looked up for a second, before looking back to me.
"Well, I can certainly try. Of course, this place is the headquarters of the explorer's guild, there is a massive cathedral here, naturally, there are monuments, busts, statues, fountains and so on everywhere, there is the noble hotel of Sanguine, which allows you to experience life as a noble. What else?... Ah, the love hotel, if you're feeling frisky, the river, and an unholy amount of shops with likely anything you're looking for."

"What about a mage's guild."

The man looked to me with a slight bit of wonder in his eyes.
"A guild for mages? That sounds like a wonderful idea! I'm sorry to get your hopes down, but there is no official guild for the likes of wizards. However, the academy has one of the biggest libraries in the world and us mages do spend a lot of time there. We are basically a community anyway. We teach each other, help each other, study with each other, and so on. I guess that is somewhat of guild, even if there are no documents. Oh! That's right! The academy. The Kelmur Ataa Academy. You need some relation to the academy to go there, but the library is free game, assuming you look semi decent."

"Is your little mage community ok with picking up novices?"

"Learning is the objective of all mages, wizards, and so on. It is only natural that we would want to help our own with this, despite their skill level. Simply interact with us frequently and we'll teach what we know and learn with you what we are yet to know."

"Any large casinos in the city?"

"A casino? I fear I don't follow."

I explained to him for a bit what a casino is.

"Ah, so that's a casino. You'll have to pardon me, I'm not so well versed in the cultures of certain foreign countries. Well, the closest we have to that are taverns and gambling dens. They try to stay a little out of sight, however. Say... I never got to ask. Where are you from?"

"No. I've got to be getting on."

"Alright then. If you decide to stick around this city for whatever reason, look me up sometime. I'm usually around the library and if I'm not, somebody there knows where I am. With that, I bid you adieu."

The two of us separated. I thought to myself about all the odd looks I've been getting. I should probably get some more normal clothes and some money would also be quite useful.

that is true, but now that i think about it if we were to choose to become a wench it would actually be interesting story-wise since the qm would have to write the reasoning behind why the player character didn't even try anything else and went straight for prostitution and this could tie into us learning more about our player characters backstory when she was on earth
>>
>>3834646
A prostitute, presumably.
>>
>>3834667
yeah that is true, i always overthink stuff in the pursuit of a player characters full backstory

Ultimately, the qm could really just put his foot down and say no. It is always their perogative to refuse a choice if they don't want to write it.
>>
>>3834675
I mean, this is just me speaking for myself, but I can't think of any reason why a person, upon being reborn into a new world with super powers, would go straight into prostitution. Unless, that is, the only job they'd ever had in their old life (and only real skill) was prostitution.
Maybe the QM could come up with a more interesting reason, but I can't think of one.

she would have to be the type of prostitute who enjoys her job or someone broken

Even qtg seems to be the majority of qst. Have you seen the hugb--I mean discord? Rarely anything productive (i.e. the alternative general threads from a few months back) get done. I don't get the sperghate for Akun. Sure, the coding is lame, but it's not a bad site.

Be happy that qst isn't some statist hugbox such like SB/V are.

As for hating akun, it's just generally a site that I find pretty unpleasant. The UI design disagrees with me, I haven't seen any quests I enjoyed there, and from what I've seen of the comments it's not really a site culture I'm fond of either.
Also, the prevalence of smut is bothersome.

"Hey there~. Are you my bank account after I get paid? Because I'm about to go to town~."

I almost instantly saw the pain in the man's eyes. It was the look you make out of embarrassment and rethinking your life choices. He sighed and began to whisper in me ear.

"Alright, follow me and keep quiet."

He guided me to one of the rooms upstairs. I entered swiftly, not wanting to further embarrass myself. When I entered, the man was sitting on the bed, his hands clasped. He spoke to me again.

Looking back at the choices we made, though, we picked a character with a vacant look on her face and a build that's almost useless. Then on appearing in the new world our first thoughts were to ask a random stranger for help and prostitute ourselves.
What I care most about is consistent characterization, and as far as I can see we've been building up the character of an airhead so far. So I say we stick with that now that we've begun. If nothing else, it should be quite an amusingly different take on isekai.

Since it was too late to back out, I swiftly found myself in many compromising positions for hours. In the downtime from when I was having one part of my body filled, I was grabbed, felt up, fingered, and so on. Eventually, after making as much use of me as he possibly could, the seeming noble left me on the bed with a bag of gold, before running off. I found myself mostly unable to move and my legs felt like those of a corpse. After being forced into so much, all I could do was lie down on the bed. My body simply would not respond to my when my brain commanded it. It wasn't long before I passed out.

...

I found myself once again in the void. In front of me was the same desk as last time, but on top of it was Lily. ... Sleeping. She must have felt my presence in front of her or something of the like, because she arose very suddenly. I found myself staring back to her again, as she spoke up.

"Ah. You're back again. Do you know how long you've kept me waiting? Last time we talked you died. Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about something, but I couldn't since you didn't die. Thankfully, you fell asleep recently and as we all know, sleep is death being shy. Now that you're here, could you clarify a few things for me? I'll give you some tips for your survival if you answer them. Can you tell me of the last thing you remember and any sort of anomalous behavior around that situation? I thought hard, but everything was a little hazy. It took me a minute and I thankfully started to remember. I was a little surprised and taken aback by this, but I suppose it may hopefully help me. I began relaying my story.

"I... Died. I was hit by a truck. It wasn't exactly anomalous, but the driver ran me over on a red light. I actually remember seeing him grinning. I never followed a religion. I was an atheist. For work, I worked as a waitress in a job that had beautiful scantily clad women show off their bodies as they served you. I suppose it was good that I always did try to keep in shape. I certainly exercised a decent amount, so the job was easy to keep."

Lily seemed immersed in my story. She nodded when I finished and responded with invariable interest.

"Very interesting. Oddly enough, I believe this may actually prove useful in my investigation. You've given me a couple hypothesis on who did this and why. The fact that you died incorrectly making this all the more interesting. Welp, as per my mentioning, I will explain a few things to give you an edge. If you want to learn logical magic, head to the library that scholar mentioned. The frequenters teach a lot there and if you are just practicing of your own interest, they will gladly guide you. For faithful magic, ask literally any higher up at the cathedral and they will almost instantly take you on. Also, if you want to get money more quickly and become a lot stronger in no time at all, go to the explorer's guild. They do a lot of contracting and one of the perks I've given you allows you to very quickly increase your stats after conducting certain actions. Oh and be careful dressed like that. It's not uncommon for prostitutes and so on to be kidnapped and taken as slaves. By the way, use your luck ability more and buy some normal clothes and buy or rent a residency soon. We can't have you going homeless. Well, that's all I have to say. Any questions?"

____________________________________

I thought for a minute, before speaking again.

"Am I going to be stuck in this world forever?"

Lily started to speak un-confidently, stumbling over her words.

"Well, I um, yeah-n-noooo, I mean-... Oh hey look! Literally anything else."

"Yeah, I'm not falling for that..."

Lily sighs and stops for a moment.

"Alright, well you won't be stuck there forever. Have to die again sometime after all. But other than that... I think it actually depends on how powerful you get. If your magic, faith, or both becomes strong enough to do stupidly over powered things like plane shift, you might have a chance."

"Ok, but how do I level my magic and faith to get higher? Or also my other stats for that matter?"

"Every once in a while after utilizing your skills, you'll be notified of new points to assign. Basically, practicing, training, and so on levels those stats."

"Alright... Any other dangers in the new world?"

"Ooooohohoho... You have no idea. Right, take the most dangerous horrifying monsterous creature back from your world-... And multiply it by cancer."

Before I could react to such an answer, I suddenly went very dizzy. I collapsed on the ground, feeling nauseous. Lily walked over to me, standing above me and looking down at me, as she begins to speak.

"Oh, well I guess that's all the time we have for today. Goodbyee~."

I woke up and found myself back in the bed. I still had the nagging feeling of nausea. When I looked down, I saw myself completely exposed and naked with fluids leaking from a certain few places. I sigh in a slight bout of shame and embarrassment. I was sore all over, but I had things I needed to do. I grabbed my money and sat up on the bed, before pausing a moment to think on what to do next.

After cleaning myself up and making myself a bit more presentable, I headed out to find a clothing store. It took a while, so I stopped a local man to ask where it was.

"Excuse me sir, do you know where I can find the clothing store? I'm not from around here."

"Of course. Here, let me show you."

He pulls out a map and points to two locations.

"This first one is the one in the commons and the second one is the one where all the nobles usually shop up in their district."

"Alright. Thank you sir."

I went along my way thinking about what kind of clothes I'd be seeing.

After a bit of thought I decided to go to

I decided to walk to the fancy store to buy my clothes. Upon my entry, I was greeted by a brown haired and eyed woman in a purple and white dress wearing glasses with her hair iin a french braid who immediately ran to me. She gazed upon me with abject shock, abhorrence, and borderline fear.

"You went outside in this? Come with me immediately. We must tidy up your wardrobe! There are many unsavory ruffians who would try to take advantage of or for the worst of my fears, overpower you! You must come with me right away, I cannot allow you to continue on like this."

She spoke with the voice of a worried and embarrassed mother and followed through with this idea by grabbing my arm and dragging me to what looked like a changing room. She sat me down and spoke to me.

>>3839696
"Alright dear, I'm going to bring in some clothes I think would look good on you, alright? I'll pick some that would appear to fit your gorgeous face and figure, unlike those vulgar sheets."

She left the room for a few minutes, allowing my mind to finally catch up to what was going on, before she came back. She had been carrying a few sets of clothes which she hung on the wall to display to me.

"Alright, I've gathered what I could. Since I absolutely need to see you walk out of this building properly clothed, I will cheapen the cost to buy these drastically to eighty gold."

On the wall, she hung several clothes. The first one was a regal sleeved burgundy dress. The material was beautifully matte and it seemed to have a small bit of extra room in all parts to both be comfortable and make appear nicer and came with some soft red gloves. There was one big gold stripe of ornate baroque design going down from the torso, two on each arm, and a few on the bottom part of the dress. The next outfit was comprised of a short sleeved black dress with a few modest frills along the way down and on the sleeves and a small cut out to show off a bit of cleavage. It came with a dark purple and silver lined cape and long black gloves extending to the bicep. The next outfit was a lot more simple than the other two. It had a medium to short green skirt with a white blouse and green hooded cloak. The next outfit was a soft dark blue. It had straps to go over my shoulders and sleeves that slightly "poofed" out at the bicep, yet again a small cut out over the chest, and big brown over the sleeve style gloves. The dress was short at the bottom. It had a white furry scarf around the neck. The next outfit had no lack of drapes. It was essentially a thick and padded white robe with a hood. It was lined with gold and had rose petals around the neck and hips. The next outfit was made up of a tight fancy sleeveless white shirt with a big black line going down the center, a large black and white striped coat, and a long white skirt with a solid black floral design.

Which should I buy?

I got undressed and changed into the darker outfit. I looked myself over in the mirror a few times and struck some poses. I absolutely loved how it looked, even if my hair was a little off theme.

"I'll take this one."

The woman smiled to me and nodded

"I'm glad. And please, dear. If you have problems with the world around us and so on at all, for your love of the gods, please come to me. I couldn't possibly let such a pretty face and figure go harmed..."

How-? Old does she think I am?

The woman stood still with an awkward smile, as her face suddenly began getting red. She spoke with panic in her voice, as she ran behind the counter.

"Alright! That's going to be 80 gold! Tell your friends about my store!"

Thinking I ought to begin construction on my arsenal, I headed straight for the library. When I arrived, a screen popped up in front of me.

"Ohoho my. I guess I already have magic. I guess I really just need someone to teach me to use it."

I walked into the library and found a table. I was greeted with a sea of books. I sat down and looked over the library. I saw a few people studying. I needed to find somebody studying magic, so I trained my eyes on the most likely suspects. One man had a book floating in front of him that he was presumably reading and was wearing the standard suit of a noble, save for a jacket. A woman had some dark green robes and a cloak on with a stack of books labelled things like "Ancient Magic Theory", "Hexing Alternatives", etc. accompanying her. There was one more person who caught my eye. He had blue robes and long black- Oh hey, it's Tobias. From what I'm able to gather, the man using levitate seems to be a bit less learned, but a bit more talented with his casual demeanor. The woman seemed to be rather diligent in her work and seemed to be a bit more focused on more frankly mysterious magics. And Tobias I actually already kind of know.

"Observe, observe, observe."

"I'd like to start off with learning water magic. Could you assist me in this?"

"Hm, odd choice. That being said, I'll be happy to. What do you know already?"

"Well... I don't really "know" any per say. I have the ability to do it, but not the knowledge."

"Oh. Well it's rather simple, actually. And the actual conducting of is even easier. But firstly, I need you to conduct your mana. Do you know that at least?"

"No."

"Alright. Well, sit down and focus really hard on yourself. Try to notice any extra movement. It feels akin to blood flow."

I did as he said and sat down. I noticed very quickly that a different movement through my body than I did on Earth. I spoke to let Tobias know what I had felt.

"I feel it. Wow, is it supposed to feel this-... Overwhelming?"

Tobias chuckled, before speaking again.

"Depends on the person. Anyway, try to move that feeling around your body. After a little bit, expel it through the palm of your hand."

I focused that feeling around my body. It felt like it was swishing about my insides. I then did as told, focusing the feeling into the palm of my hand and then trying to force it out. It began glowing a bright blue.

"Oh, a new skill!"

I dispelled my magic and looked to Tobias to speak.

"So how was that?"

"That was absolutely marvelous for a first timer! Not only was it quick, but it was potent! I see now that you were not lying. Ok, now that you know that, I need to focus a different formation of mana. The way you do that is by breaking down the raw mana and expelling a specific kind by refining it in your body and mind. Allow me a bit to explain."

Tobias then went into a lecture on converting raw mana to other kinds. He explained to me that raw mana was not as powerful, but is the most versatile of any magic in existence and things like how turn it into other elements, mostly focusing on the water element. I then tried to put that into practice.

I spent some more time at the library, having decided to try to see if I could utilize all of the magics I know of currently. Whenever I hit a roadblock, I would grab a book on the subject, skim it, and troubleshoot.
Fire was easy. I used a similar way that I did to produce raw mana and it worked. I did basic things with it, like make a weak flamethrower and so on.
Wind was pretty difficult. It seemed to require a bit more energy and a lot more focus at the beginning, but once I got it, it was just as hard as the others. I made gusts some feet away and shot forth some air from my hands to practice it.
Lightning wasn't too difficult, but it did have its own challenges. It is very hard for me to currently output a large amount of it, but it already seems decently powerful, so I don't think I'll have to worry. It all seems to be the most precise magic I can currently muster, aside from raw mana, even with having a second level in water.
Earth was an absolute nightmare. Evoking earth was nothing like the other magics. It had all the troubles of wind and more with it being comparable to borderline creation. This being said, it was easy to utilize earth after I actually found a way to evoke it. This being said, I should probably stick to using the earth around me in the future.
I finally got attuned to the first layer of magic I learned. I do believe I'm now ready to actually start exercising my abilities with thanks to this little study session of mine, but again, it is getting dark and I'm growing tired both physically and mentally.

It was getting late, so I decided to go to find somewhere that I could stay the night. I walked around outside and found the first inn I could. It seemed decent enough and was up-kept pretty well. I walked to the counter and asked the innkeeper how much I would have to pay. To my immediate joy, they responded with "1 gold". I gave them a gold and they walked me to my room. I went to the bed and lied on it with heavy limbs. My body from then til I passed out, refused to move.

I awoke in an oh so familiar black room with a nice, but unfamiliar bloodwood desk. Lily was sitting behind it, as per usual. She gave me a friendly smile and looked up to me.

"Like my new desk? I changed it from the mahogany from before."

"Nice enough. Am I going to see you every time I sleep?"

"Do you not want to see me?"

Lily childishly puffed her cheeks, before speaking again.

"That's rude ya know, my oh so evil mistress of darkness. That look does suit you, by the way."

Lily gave a small giggle, before smiling again and looking back to me.

"Anyway, you seem to be getting along just fine. Even learned some magic while you were at it. Seriously though. Use your luck powers more! Also, I recommend getting some items in case something happens ya know. There could be murderers, slavers, kidnappers, stalkers anywhereeeee~..."

The world around me started to have a bit of a wave effect, before going colorless. I then woke up greeted by the sun. I went to get up, before my hands and feet were bound and my mouth was stuffed. There was a short and thin man in a black leather long coat and a plain wooden mask with only eye holes. He walked over to me, carrying an oddly shaped knife with literal barbs on it. I started to shake, struggle, and panic, to which he responded by putting all his weight on top of me to hold me down and holding the knife right against my eyelid, pushing it closer to my eye. I muffled "observe". It was impossible to tell what I was saying, but the usual screen popped up regardless.

I threw myself off the bed with my now free arms and grabbed the sides of his head, before unleashing an unholy amount of mana directly into his skull. The sides of his face blew up and he shot backwards. I picked up the barbed knife and cut my feet loose and then unstuffed my mouth. His apparent magic knife was now mine and so was his life.

I approached the man with wide eyes and a demonic smile. I unmasked him and bashed his face in with it, before binding his hands with some of the cut rope by tying them together with a square knot. I grabbed his hands and held them softly.

"Now, you are going to tell me the correct answer to any questions I asked."

The man spoke with a gravelly voice and spat at me.

"Fuck off."

"Now, Mr. Hillern, you most certainly do not want to fuck with me."

"How do you know my na-"

I poked both of my fingers into his eyes and lit them on fire. He went to scream, but I stuffed his mouth. I shouted at him.

"DO! NOT! FUCK WITH ME!"

I swiftly changed my tone from enraged to calm to scare the man even further.

"Now then, what do you want from me to come for me?"

The man responded, whining pathetically.

"Y-your money! I-I came for your money!"

I put my hands on his and began to slowly heat them up.

"You better start speaking the truth quickly. I will only continue to heat you up until you answer ALL of my questions. And don't expect to get off lying like you just did."

My hands were starting to heat up past about the heat of death valley.

"Bullshit!"

He started noticing the heat difference.

"O-ok! I-I came here to kill you!"

"Why?!"

"B-because th-that's just how I am!"

"TO GET OFF?!"

I suddenly drastically heating my hands. He was now beginning to experience boiling temperatures. He followed with yells and shouts.

"AAAAH!! Y-YES!"

"Do I look like a bitch?!"

"W-what?!"

"DO I LOOK! LIKE A BITCH?!"

He screamed out a resounding "No!"

"How did you get inside this room?!"

"I picked the lock!"

My hands continued getting hotter. He was starting to develop third degree burns and a rapid development toward a soar throat.

"How many people have you killed?"

"N-nobody!"

"LIES!"

I lit my hand on fire and punched him the face. I then grabbed his face with my flaming hand, prompting intense screaming from the man.

"I-I-I LOST COW UHVER 15!!!"

He was in so much pain and his mouth and the rest of his face were so burnt, he could barely speak. His hands were now black crisps.

"HOW DO YOU KILL PEOPLE?!?!?!"

"KNIFE! KNIFE!"

I stopped burning him. He fell and turned into a screaming crying mess.

"Thank you. This knowledge may prove useful to me. And don't worry. Nobody is going to hear you. It wouldn't be beneficial to me if they did and I'm a pretty lucky gal."

I picked up the knife and lifted it to the man's eyes. I then ran the barbed and serrated knife across the mans face, prompting more screaming.

"What's wrong?! This is what you were about to do to me! HYPOCRITE!"

I ran several cuts with horrifying blade across his face on the sensitive burn wounds and cut bits of his ears off. There was no end to screaming from this man. Pathetic. To keep him from dying, I heated the horrifying knife with fire magic and cut new instantly cauterizing cuts to cause as much pain as possible and cauterize all the cuts I made. Finally, I knocked him out and looted him. Of course, he had his serial killer knife. I looted the-
"100 GOLD?! That was lucky! I guess this affects me for a while."

I took him down to the closest guard tower. Luckily, they had just gotten their first drawn portrait of the man. I told the guards what happened and dropped him with them. One of the guards spoke to me.

"Just today, this man's bounty increased by twenty. You enjoy all this money now. You've earned it."

The guard gave me 100 gold and spoke again.

"You know, you'd be a great mercenary. You could probably become a noble too with the amount of money you could get. A few more hauls like this and you could buy a house here in the capital!"

"How would I go about being a mercenary as a startup? The point that is you kind of have to already have word of mouth."

"Meh, you could just answer and casting calls, check out the explorer's guild, or even just do some good old fashioned bandit hunting."

"Alright. Thank you, sir."

I walked away from this, now wondering what I could do now.

I shopped around a bit. It turns out that today was a massive holiday district wide sale! I got everything I ordered at a discounted price, paying only 100 gold and I got some free extra stuff too! My luck still hasn't ran out.

The man tried to run off with my money. Being how I absolutely needed that money to survive, I needed to obliterate him. I conjured water in my hands and began hyper compressing it. Before the man ran off too far, I threw my arm out at him, sending an arrow of hydraulic cutting right for him. It landed directly on his back, seeming to hit him like a truck and launch him forward. Red mist filled the air behind him, as I ran up and caught up to him. When I looked down to this brutish scoundrel, I saw clothes torn by my bolt and a back of nothing but absolutely eviscerated flesh. I felt nothing but unbridled animosity. I kicked his ribs in and reclaimed my money. He gasped at the kick, but took it unfortunately well. Now, with the thief at my feet, I could do whatever I wanted. I angrily sighed out a sentence.

"Why have so many damn criminals been after me lately?!"

Surprisingly, despite being under many other stresses, he seemed to react to that sentence with a look of "oh shit".

I looked down to the man at my feet. And yelled at him.

"Stop! You have violated the law! Pay the court a fine or serve your sentence. Your goods are now forfeit."

"W-what?!"

The man seemed to be confused by my talking. I took his stuff and knocked him out.

1 green-mythril dagger
1 steel arming sword
1 black cloak

"Oooooh. Mythril. I've heard of this from some games and movies before, I'm certain. Why does it say green? Isn't that a bit redundant?"

I picked the man up fireman style and walked him to the guard post. It was the same guy as last time working there. He spoke to me, noticing I was back so soon with another criminal.

"Wow, already? Alright. What has he done?"

"Pickpocket."

"Eh, alright. I can give you 10 gold."

"Here." I replied, as I dropped him onto the ground in front of the guard, causing him to wake him. The guard gave me my money and I was off.

"This seems to be rather unlucky for somebody like me. Something is off..."

I started thinking to myself.

"Well, I suppose all I can do is wait. Hmm... There is still daylight. What should I do?"

After having heard a lot about this "Explorer's Guild", I figured I should probably pay a visit to it. I went to its location. When I entered, I was greeted with a room full of many people of many races. Most of them wore odd gaudy clothes, causing them to stick out quite a bit. There was a counter and sitting behind it was a receptionist. He had the face of a black haired jackal. It looked as if I was staring upon Anubis himself! He waved me over to his counter and spoke to me in a high pitched, but very raspy voice.

"I have not seen you around here before. You know how this place works?"

"Not really, but I have my guesses."

"Well, you're probably correct. Our system has been recycled throughout all the countries in some form or another. Basically, we're a great and vast group of contractors who assist travelers, nobles, and the odd man for a bit money or maybe other rewards. Our jobs mostly consist of four things, cartography, scouting, mercenary work, and the aforementioned odd jobs. Now, I have to ask what you're doing here. I haven't seen you here before, so I'd like to know if you wish to charter a party or agent of our guild for a job or join up with us yourself. By your looks, you look noble, but at the same time I feel like you could have my head yourself if I simply made you uncomfortable. Put simply, who are you and what do you want?"

"That's a bold way to put it."

"I want to join."

"Alright. Since I've yet to hear of you, I'm going to need you to do some things so I can register you as a contractor. Follow me this way please."

I walked with him up some stairs. He led me to a big open room that seemed to be somehow coated in some kind of stone. He spoke to me, as he walked to the center.

"In each group of contractors we have, there are several ranks. It usually consists of A, B, C, D, E, F. Most of the time, we like to get a gauge on people ahead of time via placement test. For mercenary work and scouting, we need some sort of field proof. For odd jobs and cartography, the test is written. Since you're here and joining, I'm going to rank your merc level."

He pulled a bastard sword out of thin air, as a spectral outline formed around him.

"Ok, I am going to try to kill you and you have to prevent that. I won't take no for an answer."

I gave him an odd look and shouted.

"... THE FU-?!"

Right as I was talking, he charged at me.

"Observe!"

I ran backward, prepping the strongest bolt of thunder I could. He slashed at me continuously and I was able to keep up with him for long. He went once more to slash at me, getting too close for comfort and hitting me directly in the shoulder. It hurt like a bitch and rendered the electricity I was building up in that arm for my blast useless. ... Or did it? While it was incredibly difficult to move my arm, it occurred to me that liquid and metal are electricity conductors. The blood was electrified. It painfully cooked my arm, but the lightning also traveled up into the blade, directly into his hands. He was delivered a healthy shock and dropped his sword.

New Ability!
[lightning resistance]

Now is not the time! As useful as that is... While he was vulnerable, I launched the thunder bolt I was storing in my other hand at Wrizan. When it made contact, the outline shattered, but only in a small area, revealing a weak point. Once I saw this exposure in his defenses, I pelted and berated it with repeated thunder bolts. The rest of the outline completely shattered as I kept this up. Wrizan was trying to keep up, but was unable to move much.

His hand extended to me. ... Very quickly, before it-UFF!! He just punched in the face! He shoved his fingers into my wound with an iron grip, inducing as much pain as he could, before muttering an incantation and healing it, before I had time to send him to the shadow realm

>"Ow! Fuck you!"

I exited the building and made a beeline for the cathedral. I need some Jesus for this shit. Or Buddha. Or whatever the god of this world is. Once I arrived at the cathedral, I was greeted by a vast and beautiful architectural wonder, resembling that of the Romanesque architectural variety. It was wide in size and white in color, perfectly meeting the golden ratio and seeming to have 2 floors. I entered inside, to see a massive with a stained glass dome that used colors that well compliment gold. The interior was mostly empty of furniture, seats and so on. There were many statues of marble with plaques underneath them.

I walked over, reading some of the plaques and eyeing some of the statues. The plaques had a brief description of the deity they were positioned under. Behind each of the statues was a stained glass window that had colors generally associated with the given deity. I read some of the plaques again, this time paying a little more attention.
Plaque 1: "Behold unto all who seek themselves freedom and a life of life, lovingly interacting with all true neighbors, extending to our less humanly brethren. Be given energy in the presence of your god, Nimelene of life, freedom, and nature." Above this plaque was a tall feminine man of long hair clothed in what appeared to be a long sleeve shirt of leaves and fauld of hide. On his head were horns of a markhor. He had a shortbow thrown around his back and a quiver around and a shield hanging from his hip. The stain glass window was mostly green and yellow, with an abstract interpretation of a deer family being obscured or hiding behind the statue's shield.
Plaque 2: "The mysteries of the universe are only known to our great lord, Paimon and his closest followers. As you continue on your fellowship with him, he will unleash his understandings upon you, so that you two may achieve mental perfection and quell the insatiable desire to know." The statue was an ambiguously gendered slender person. They had a long and featureless face, with blackened holes for eyes. They donned a robe that revealed their shoulders and forearms with a design along the parts of the uncut parts of the sleeves and down the torso and legs. A hood that was unconnected to the robe clung to their head, held by a crown with hanging rings and headband. It sat atop a camel that looked as if it was touched by the devil, but still appeared to be peacefully resting. The stained glass window behind it appeared to be some sort of valley and was colored of blue and red.
Plaque 3: "My dearest loves, the emotional gratification to be gained from our goddess, Ash is worth spending your prayers here. If you wish to feel, you simply must be with us and feel those emotions that indeed gratify you. Anything from acquiring the love of your life to your own public humiliation. The choice is yours." The statue of a female positioned above the plaque, which had a fashion sense eerily similar to that of 2000s Earth. It was short, had long hair, and braids on it and wore what looked like a sweater with a hole over the chest area, a skirt, and thigh highs. She gave a loving and motherly smile. Behind her was a stained glass window of many pastel colors with a very comfy looking room of a various furniture of differing colors with people on them conducting different emotional actions, the color, emotion, and piece of furniture according themselves to eachother, ie: people cuddling on a pink couch, someone crying on a blue beanbag, people smiling on a big yellow bed, and so on.

Plaque 4: "Nothing is true. Those who believe in truth are lies in their existence. Only discord masked by the lies of patterns can exist. It is otherwise impossible to know the non existent truth. Be made free of the lies in the prescence of our beauty and glory, Eris." The statue was a woman in a dress/robe entirely made of feathers and flowers, with a thin jewled belt around the waist, a necklace, bracelets around the biceps, and a headband. Her eyes were designed to have many inward swirls in them, appearing as an attempt to make this look hypnotic. The stained glass window was a black and red vortex of madness, presumably.

Plaque 5: "The world that has been gifted to you is not to go to waste. All that is good must be preserved and protected. It is by divine decree of Denir, our god that we uplift all those around us, heal the wounded, cure the sick, righten the depraved for the sake of our world." A man in armor with a face that appeared to have been plated by metal stood raising a sword to the heavens and a cape flowing in non existent wind. He had fluffy fur wrapped around many pieces of armor, bringing a more approachable and comforting look. Behind him was a stained glass window of mostly white and yellow type colors, but still with realistic colors like gray and green, carrying of a variety of species standing in front of a city heroically and an angel above them.

Plaque 6: "Hi. I'm feeling pretty apathetic right now which fits well with my deity. Join us I guess?" The statue was Lily. ... For some reason. Her stain glass window was just a gray stained window.

Plaque 7: "Social fame? Money? Worldly power? Our god treats us well, rather frankly. All of these divine graces could be acquired by you, in exchange for your devotion to Akren, god of greatness." The statue was that of a bearded man on a thrown, bearing a crown twice the size of his head and ornate decoration all over his royal vestments. His hair was short and he contained to himself a confident smile. His window was made of mostly gold colors and portrayed piles of coins with a man in red standing atop them.

(I started double spacing these for easier reading)
cont.
>>
>>3857952
Plaque 8: "The world is cruel. Many wrongdoers exist and the needs of strength are needed now in these times of grave disatisfaction. If you seek to purge yourself of wrongdoers and or ascend your strength and skill to match and rival gods, seek you divine aid from our mighty goddess, Rerakdaidon." The statue was ironically that of a female gorgon. She took a fighting stance with a greatsword, standing atop bones. Her hair was unkept and her body was decorated by skeletal and hide armors. Her window was red and corpse litered, a militia appearing unsccathed wading in corpses.

Plaque 9: "Lies are a natural fact of life. They in fact even benefit our existance, which is why I urge you to greater utilize such a gift. Trickery and deception bring about humor and jollity, not to mention have a great record of sparing people evils. This being said, if this is true, what greater rolemodel than our clever god of trickery, Naren." Before me was the statue of a pointy eared man in rags, playing a lute like Jimi Hendrix plays guitar, in that it looks almost like he is fornicating it. Behind him was a window of people playing various pranks on each other, like scaring people, tripping people, and so on. The most used colors were green an blue in these.

Oh my god, these people have some weird gods. Was that Lily? I suppose I oughta test my faith stat.

I got on my knees in front of the statue of Ash, clasped my hands, and closed my eyes. For some reason, a familiar nausea befell me and I opened my eyes to see the world become wavy. A bright light shone through the stained glass window and somebody threw the saturation slider of the world against the wall. The world around me started to shift, until it eventually assumed the form of a pinkish colored bedroom. The statue was nowhere to be seen. There was a massive bed in front of me with its own curtains. Out of curiosity, I opened the curtains and was met be a white haired girl with the features of the statue, with two exceptions. Her hair wasn't braided and she was wearing leggings instead of a skirt and thigh highs. She was curled up on top of the sheets, holding one pillow close and lying on another. She must have noticed me, because she began to sit up. She rubbed her eyes, before opening them to reveal them to be white and looked at me slowly and groggily, before sitting criss cross and speaking slowly and softly. She seemed rather hazy.

"Hello?... Oh... Morning, Anom."

I tilted my head in confusion.

"Anom?"

"Anomaly. Because that is what you are."

"Oh, do you know of me?"

"Of course. How would I know to call you that if I didn't. ... I'm pretty sure most of me coworkers do know of you. Please, sit with me. I'm sure you have some questions."

I got on the bed and closed the curtain, my knees pressing against the mattress as I spoke.

"So? Where am I?"

"My realm, simply put. I'm not going to let you get up and walk around the rest of it though. Oh, by the way. I almost forgot."

A screen appeared.

"Woah! That's incredible! How did you know about my secret?" I questioned.

"I have my ways." Amolere responded, smirking.

"So... What now?"

"Whaaaaat?! Are you saying you don't want to be my acolyte?!" She puffed her cheeks, as her eyes and hair literally started turning red.

"Don't put words in my mouth! Well-..."

"I can revoke my gift at any time you know!! Nah, I'm just kidding. ... Mostly." Her eyes and hair went back to normal, before she spoke again.
"But seriously. Are you gonna be one for me?"

"Um, one sec. Observe." Nothing happened. That's odd. Must have something to do with them being a god.

>"Sure, I'll be your acolyte."
>"I think I'll pass."
