/qst/ - Quests

You are (now) a small, blind slime who has acquired two companions. A fluttering thing who is tied to the mash you currently keep within your void pocket and Ser Fuzzylad, a mildly obnoxious individual who has the odd habit of staring off into the distance at all times. You can feel that they have more of a grasp on things in general than yourself and the fluttering one.

It also appears that Ser Fuzzylad desires the knobby thing next to the anvil. For what purpose? Unknown for sure.

You scoot closer and project the inquiry for why your companion would desire the knobby thing. They respond with calling it a 'hammer' before explaining it's particularly useful for knocking this down or away. Mentions something called 'nails' and 'smithing' as well but you feel unsure on what any of that means.

You press further and ask about the nails and smithing stuff, to which Ser Fuzzylad takes great enjoyment informing you and the fluttering one about these mysterious arts. Nails apparently are good for sticking something to another something, which can be useful for hampering the use of one or both of the things or alternatively used to make something else easier to mess with.

Smithing on the other hand is done at an anvil, and requires a thing called 'ore' to craft other things like a mentioned 'sword'. Ser Fuzzylad takes to mention that a sword is the most noble part of a knight's arsenal, and is almost required to be seen as a proper knight.

You decide to take a moment to practice [speak] with your companions, though the fluttering thing prefers to try getting accustomed to its equipment. Seems it is having a difficult time finding a balance between weapon size and agility. Ser Fuzzylad takes to sounding out grunts, groans, hisses, and some barks to which you try your best to emulate.

While you did not gain any obvious progress or benefit, you do feel the bonds between yourself and the other two grow just a smidgen tougher.

You point towards the rock with the thing under it and inquire about it. Ser Fuzzylad says he saw it appear on his lawn not too long ago and was watching it from his house to see what it would do. He has yet to see it come out from under the rock, but is suspicious that they are waiting for an opportunity to steal some of his fruit.

You inquire to how it grows, to which Ser Fuzzylad takes ample time and effort to explain the full process which goes as follows. First you have to dig a hole in some dirt with grass on it, then put a seed and cover it with more dirt and grass. From there you make sure it has a lot of water and when you do this often enough over a long period of time you'll get a sprout coming out from where you planted the seed. From there you have to wait for it to grow into a large tree, and it'll then grow flowers that look like small fiery faces. After that the flowers will turn into the fruit and you can eat them straight off the branches.

You keep rapt attention on Ser Fuzzylad and suggest he acquire the hammer, to which he picks up and holds proudly in hand. You also take a moment to contemplate eating Ser Fuzzylad, but the bond between consumers allows you to feel that it would best to not attempt fighting an allied carnivore. Other carnivores sure, but not one who has sworn to protect you and your fluttering companion.

You scoot to the other side of the tree, but feel little difference in this location. Recalling where the crackly thing is comes to be quite difficult, but you feel it resides somewhere over... that way? The more you consider this the less confident you feel about its location.

You journey [upward] and feel your surroundings, discovering more of the roaring wet and another large hard thing. However, a strange formation of sharps can be felt as well. One large sharp stands tall over tiers of smaller and smaller sharps, similar to some of the tufts of gross stuff which you rest upon right now.

You let the mash out of the pocket void and pull some of the smallest sharps off of the array while the fluttering thing takes a seat and watches with mild concern. Ser Fuzzylad makes mention these sharps are called 'ore' and there are a few of them out in the world. These specific ones are the sort a beginner uses to smith in order to know how to manage the process. They do not make an attempt to stop your consuming of the sharps.

However, the ore is posing quite the problem; it aggravates the void within on top of being very similar to the bottle from earlier which rejects your attempts to digest it.

You spit out the diminutive sharps and scoot a bit towards the big wet, feeling out across the roar. Only element of note that you can feel is another large large rock standing defiantly out from under the big wet. You feel inspired by its sheer confidence against adversity.

Inquiring towards if the ore is useful at all leads Ser Fuzzylad to nod before smacking one of the larger sharps with the hammer. It surrenders immediately and attempts to flee from its brethren like a coward. You feel the ore silently judging its own with utter disgust.

You ask what is next and are met with a very simple reply.

"More."

Ser Fuzzylad begins to decimate the entire array of ore with wanton abandon. You decide to scoot a small distance away and start exploring towards the other side of the gross stuff. You can easily feel yourself and the fluttering thing becoming a bit unsettled of how vicious the party third can be.

You take to touching the flat rock which you first remember waking on. Feels just as smooth as when you cleaned it free of every speck of dust and grime not too long ago.

Meanwhile Ser Fuzzylad stands upon the rock with the array of ores laying defeated beneath them. A supreme victory!
