Cover-art kindly provided by our noble artiste, Draw-anon, who generously took time off repainting the Sistine Chapel for us. Look upon our prettyboy protagonist. Look upon his devilish smile and despair.

In last thread’s episode of Alcoholics Anonymous Quest, our hero Commander Flashman did some boring stuff like, I dunno, training, meeting Mihawk Mibird Miseagull, whatever. No-one cares. The important thing is that he CAN’T GET DRUNK. What horror is this?! How is our dashing champion of justice supposed to fulfil his obligations to get kidnapped by pirates if he can’t get drunk?! How could his Logia betray him in such a vile and repulsive way? Is there no Seasus? No. There is only sobriety. Disgusting. Shameful. Only Gand-chan can save him now.

We now return you to your scheduled idiocy.

>just admit you want to touch the sword

“You must travel around a lot, huh? I thought Shichibukai normally stayed in one place.”

Mibird opens one eye, head tilting slightly as he peers in the direction of a blatantly silent Abs. “A monotonous life breeds complacency, and the degradation of skills. Simple travel can be as useful for testing one’s strength as a more... dramatic lifestyle change.”

Abs bristles.

“Such as Firefist, here,” Mibird unsmoothly segues, swirling his wine-glass. “I suspect he’ll no longer be making his base in Whitebeard territory - although of course, I’ve already been surprised by his presence, here.”

“I’ll find someplace,” Fireplace bites out, voice bitterly defiant. This is... not going places you wanted them to. SUBJECT CHANGE.

Hmmh...Since Dressrossa is a Spain expy does that mean that Sangria was made in Dressrossa?
Man,AU Oda doesn't wanna stop with leaving subtle clues about Flashman origin.
Also maybe i'm wrong, but before going full gothic didn't Mihawk use to wear Hawaian shirts?
>>
>why did i bother writing other suggestions?

“Heeeeeeey, Mibird,” you chirp, like the avian Mibird is. “If you like wine, have you tried sangria?”

Mibird seems to have taken to being called Mibird with an utter lack of care, which you find simultaneously inspiring and relieving, mainly because you like your head attached to your neck. Not enough to not call him Mibird, though. “I’ve heard of it.”

“But have you TRIED it?”

“... No,” he shamefully confesses, clearly guilt-ridden over this travesty of good taste. Well, okay, maybe he just sounds bored. That simply means he’s hiding it well. What a guy,

You crack your knuckles. “All righty then. Looks like it’s... *s a n g r i a o’c l o c k*.”

Klaus makes an odd whimpering noise as Mibird arches an eyebrow, but you’re too busy flagging down the waitress to care.

“So teeeeell me,” you wheedle, halfway through your third glass of delicious, fruity wine (it’s no Pink Flamingo, but you’re man enough to admit that other drinks are tolerable), past tipsy but not quite into drunk. Yet. “Which of - of the Emperors is the strooongest?”

“A ridiculous question,” Mihawk disparages. He has a jug all to himself. “It’s like apples and oranges. Are you including their crew in the matter? The size of their territory? The-?”

“Whitebeard!” Abs’ voice drowns him out, as the guy raises his own glass. “Pops is the strongest, no doubt!”

Ignoring the fact he proooobably shouldn’t be calling the dude Pops any more, you squint at him. “Reeeeeally? I mean, he’s kinda old... does he even fight any more?”

“Does he-?!” Fireplace splutters, but Mibird butts right back in.

“He does still fight, although considering the size of his crew, they obviously do far more of it than him. That said, I would disagree that he is ‘the strongest’.”

You stare at him, curious. “Then...?”

“Most likely... if we are talking the individual, rather than the entire crew, then the strongest is surely...”

You lean in closer, intrigued.

“... anyone but Red-Haired Shanks.”

.............

That’s not a real answer.

Seeing your glare and smirking at it, Mibird elegantly shrugs. “It’s been a long time since any of the Emperors fought each other. And of course, those who go to fight them tend not to live to tell the tale. So who knows?”

“... But Red-Haired is definitely the weakest?”

“Correct,” Mibird says, looking you dead in the eye. “His first mate is excellent at keeping him alive, whereas the man himself can’t even protect his own limbs.”

“Wow.” You scratch your cheek, thinking about all the dire warnings you heard about the Emperor back in class. “I thought he was on par with them all...”

“Perhaps he’s decent when sober. I’m not sure if anyone’s ever seen it happen.”

Daaaaaaang. The more you know. “And, uh,

“Not a thing... more of a person,” Mibird murmurs, pulling an expression of distaste. Then his gaze, fully sober, fixes back on you. “Although if it were limited to ‘recently’, I must say that a low-ranking Marine challenging me to a spar, revealing his Haki, and then attempting to claim my blade is... somewhat unusual.”

“Not for this idiot,” Klaus mutters from beside you, downing his own drink and looking like he wants to sleep, or die, or both. You swat his arm.

“Ignore Klaus! So.

Another shrug. "If you mean 'do they verbally challenge me', yes. As for bring a physical challenge... rarely. Most of my challengers are weaklings and fools. A good number are both."

You point at yourself, questioningly.

"You're both."

... Rude.

"That said, I can see that your win over Roronoa wasn't a fluke." (You keep your mouth shut that he tripped, looking innocent.) "It should be interesting to see where you are in three month time."

Woooooooow. Okay. Does that mean - did Lolonoa spar with him as well? And what was Mibird doing in East Blue, anyway? Really, it's more like he just figured you weren't letting go and didn't care enough to make you... and then when he tried, you were clinging too tightly to his coat... so he threw his coat (and you) on the floor of the boat.

But being Mibird's gift to Shanks is a terrifying thought, because you are worryingly reminding Mibird of him.

"..... yez." You squint back down at the coat. Black. Fancy red patterned sleeves. It's... probably worth more than you make in a year. Or five years. "Did I get kidnapped again? Is this a Wednesday?"

"........" Mibird intones, loudly and pointedly.

"Um." You like at the dried patch on the sleeve. "That, uh. That'll wash out."

You peek up to see Mibird looking at you with resigned disappointment, like at a puppy who pissed on his rug. Or drooled on his coat, really. ... You're much cuter than a puppy, though. And housetrained!

"... Sorry? Um. Why am I... here?"

Mibird looks up to the sky, small clouds drifting along a lazy breeze. "Why are any of us here?"

"....... Okay, let me rephrase. Why did you kidnap me?"

He shrugs, laconic. "Why not."

She's not dumb enough to say it to his face, and she recognises he's the most skilled in the world... she just thinks swords shouldn't be used for 'evil', so no matter how good a person is with a sword, if they're a bad person, they don't deserve a title like world's best, because they're shaming the title rather than bringing honour to it.

>The woman of bend metal took a step back as smoker approached.
>”I’ve been making puns in my head Tashigi, Puns!” Smoker yells his cigars somehow staying in place.
>”You’re damn right we need that idiot back so I have someone to yell at who deserves it!” Smoker finishes with a huff before walking back to his desk.

You awkwardly pat yourself down to make sure all your stuff is present and correct, while edging yourself even closer to the side of the boat. Just in case you need to vomit.

"Sooo..." You squint up at him. "Where are we headed?"

"Ennies Lobby."

Wat.

"Gosh. That's, uh. Not really where I wanted to be."

"Hm." Mibird looks like he's less than invested in your opinion. "Perhaps you should have considered that before you started clinging to my coat and refuses to remove yourself."

... Maybe... you should stop getting drunk? ........ Nah. "Oh." That does sound like the sort of thing you'd do. "Thank you for not, uh, stabbing me?"

Your heart lurches and thuds down, down into your stomach, as you stare at Mibird in bewildered incomprehension. Your brain carefully lays his words out for you several more times, until it's finally understandable.

"Excuse me for a minute," you calmly tell him. Then, under his maliciously amused eye, you pull a sleepy Mr Speedy from your coat, and wriggle backwards to the far end of the coffin. Boat. Thing.

Regardless, I just wanted to confirm what I was told by... someone else. A someone else that would know about this kind of thing, but I'm not sure if he's cool with me just talking about him especially cause he's like a few feet to my right, but maybe this counts as talking about him and I'm a few seconds away from being cut up into very small cubes? Or maybe not? I think he's enjoying seeing me verbally flop around like a land-locked Sea King."

>here we gooooooooo

"Tashigi..." You close your eyes and bite your lip as you try to find the right words. "I knew you wouldn't be happy, but I didn't want to lie to you, because I genuinely care about you and I don't want you to hate me. So I told you the truth. I told you how much it meant to me. But then you just brush it off as me being, I dunno, brainwashed? I'm not stupid, sis. I may act stupid, and sometimes I may have genuinely stupid moments, but I'm not stupid. I can judge someone's character. I know I'm an asshole, and I know that you're frustratingly naive, and I know that - well. That said, if you really sent it away before I got back from Skypiea, I can't really blame you for anything. I didn't know what kind of person Zoro was before then, and it was my mistake to have given you that sword in the first place."

Tashigi is silent for a long, pregnant moment. "Okay," she finally says, quiet and calm. "Leaving aside that you called me sis... I don't think you're stupid. Or an asshole. But if I'm naive, then you're naive too, because you spent all of three or so days with the Strawhats and went from hating Roronoa to finding him an honorable rival and calling him by his first name.
"I'm sure he has his good points, because everyone does, but at the end of the day, he went from bounty hunter to a willing criminal. That was his own choice, and if one of the consequences of that choice is that it put him in a situation where he lost something he's been using to hurt innocent people and Marines? Then I can't say I'm sorry for him. And I guess maybe it was your mistake for giving me that sword, but it was my mistake to think you-" She cuts herself off, bitter now. "Never mind. I have actual work to be doing, so was that everything?"

BP I'm a level right now. I'm soooooooo relieved you didn't make tashigi fold like a wet napkin during this argument. To many quests do this and honestly despite how players are acting she's not even in the wrong.

We keep taking in zoro's feelings but we completely ignore how tashigi must feel. I mean us asking for the sword back because Zoro would be coming along was us basically saying we intended him to get the sword back. Plus anons actually wanted to purposefully lose to give it to him. Anons imagine what she felt after we gave her the rare sword a pirate was using and she decides to send it to HQ so another marine can wield it in the name of good and instead we lash out at her(some votes kinda wanted us to lash out) because she did what her ideals led her to.

Then there's that time we kinda told her she was a worse at swordswomanship than us. When we warned her of Zoro coming to get it from her as if that must scare her could you possibly get how that would feel. To have someone who's trained for a couple months warn you who's been training for a majority of your life about a legendary swordsman.

Tashigi should've told us what she did, but too many players are only taking one side while ignoring the other. Like those who think disengaging from the marines and becoming a pirate is a good idea, but that's a argument for another time.

agreed, lot of people acting like Tashi did some unforgiveable betrayal here, honestly the only thig she did wrong was not telling us and the continued harping on Zoro not being evil just feels weird and out of place. Tashi is not gonna realize marines and the government can be evil until she is faced with irrefutable prove of it, and even then she will rationalize to hell and back. Should have just said she should have told us and told her where we were not gone on the whole "not all pirates are evil" speech this early on

The sword she won at the Renaisse tournament and then rescued from Baroque Works was actually the one Tashigi and Smoboss canonly took off BW in the manga. Then it neeeever showed up again. Why? Because Tashigi doesn't keep any meitou except her own! She hands them in like a good little Marine! And honestly, I don't know what anons were expecting when they gave it to her, because I thought I made it pretty clear what would happen.

I love Flashy but honestly, from Tashigi's PoV, he really IS getting weird after a few days with pirates. And without canon Alabasta to let her recognise that the Strawhats are decent people, and having seen Lolonoa take Flashy hostage in Loguetown... that's kind of worrying.

And she probably SHOULD have told Flashy she'd sent Wado on, but your first proper conversation once he was back kind of convinced her that maaaaybe he needed some time to cool down off the Stockholm high. Bad decision on her end, but she didn't think you'd stick to your Strawhat-loving guns. Oh, well.
>>
>>3714160
I'm a little disappointed she didn't keep the gift we gave her, we expected her to after all, but it was hers at that point to do with as she pleased. I am disappointed she didn't tell us, though.

"Yes. They were quote insistent on following, along with Firefist."

Awww. That's nice. They're probably going to murder you, but still. "Good news! They've got some kind of boat and are following us!"

"Great." He sounds less than thrilled. "When are you gonna reach Ennies Lobby?"

You look back at Mibird, who sighs. "We'll be stopping at Water 7 first. In two hours or so. From there, we may either sail or get the sea train."

Smoboss doesn't wait to you to decide that. "Fine. Just don't my idiot injured." Mr Speedy's eyes glare even harder, at Mibird this time. "I want him back in one piece."

I've said it once, and I'll say it again, though I doubt it will be the last time I say it:

Real life trumps quest threads. Take your time if needed; if you need to take time off to combat burn out or some other reasons, we'll understand.

That said, have this tripe absolutely no one asked for!

Arthur: So, this is embarassing, but I kibd of lost my kids--I mean, weapons, so, I'm going to have to take you on with this toothpick I found! I call her Toothy-chan!
Opponent: What the fu--is this a joke to you?!

>One curb atomp via ludicrous amounts of 100s and one crying spider later

Arthur: ...Yeah, okay, even I find what I just did ridiculous...why's Mibird looking at me like that with that scary grin on his face?
Mihawk: YOu're mY Kid NoW.
Klaus: Ahahaha--no. Get your own kid; he's mine.

>And thus much clashing of blades ensued, with much collateral damage, essentially resulting in EL becoming nothing more than ruins.

Mihawk: Well, that was...fun. Yes, I do believe that's the word I'm thinking of.
Klaus: Heh, go figure; it takes the best swordsman in the world to make me kick up a sweat. Wanna grab a drink?
Mihawk: Sure.
Ace: :Not even bothering containing his laughter that World Government/Marine property just straight up wrecked:
Arthur: ...What just happened?

Chopping down trees with my ENORMOUS SWORD LEGS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA but actually working in a pub. We'll see how it goes.

>brag to papa

"By the way," you add, smug as a smug bug who smuggles mugs, "been practicing with my Fruit, learned how to do this cool trick with cannonballs to shoot them super fast with electricity. I think I might be better at throwing cannonballs than Garp now!"

A long silence dawns, hovers and sets.

"I was happier before you said that," Smoboss muses. "Don't die. Don't blow anything up. Goodbye." CLICK.

Huh.

That was odd.

Shrugging, you settle Mr Speedy back into your pocket, and twist around to look at Mibird. He watches you with mild, languid interest, face blank.

Waaait. You have... what you're wearing. And that's pretty much it. Sure, Ennies Lobby will undoubtedly have some spare uniforms, but... "Hey, uh, I kinda need to get some stuff while we're in town... are you in a rush?"

After an interminably long period of just staring at you like a giant creep, Mibird sighs. "Not particularly. Wado shouldn't arrive at Ennies Lobby just yet, anyway, so you can spend some time..." He pulls a face, "... getting supplies."

Yeeeeeah, he totally has everything hand-made and tailored. Rich jerk. Well, maybe you can find a photography place and get your camera repaired as well? The water can't have... yeah, it's probably bad. Well, you can still get it checked out.

You still can't get the flow of Armament, although be fair, you ARE distracted by Mibird assertions re. stabbing weather.

"You cut... the weather?" You stare at him, wide-eyed.

"A basic technique."

NO IT ISN'T.

>1, 37 oh dear oh dear oh dear

"Can you cut lightning?"

Mibird looks at you like you're an idiot. You're familiar with this look, from a variety of sources. "Obviously."

Sooooo coooooooooollll~

"... Teach... me...?" Your eyes sparkle at him, like really weird-looking diamonds. That are spherical. With a big green circle in them. And kind of wet.

But also, and most importantly, sparkly.

Mibird tilts a shoulder in what may be a shrug, and leans back without falling over, somehow. "If you can manage to follow my instructions, certainly. It'll pass the time."

Eagerly nodding, you settle down and, once told to do so, draw Cut-chan.

Then Mibird proceeds to bore you yo death with crap about, uh, humidity, and temperatures, and air currents and... stuff. Honestly, you kinda glazed over after a while. Whatever.

"Hold out your blade," he finally instructs, and hell yeah, now you're getting to the fun part! You do so, obeying his words on how to tilt and angle her to adjust to the current weather patterns.

"Of course, you aren't strong enough to actually cut the cloud above in such a way as to start a rainfall," Mibird tells you dismissively, "but you can practice to understand the principle of it. Now just slash -"

With a wave of his arm, he shows you what to do. You do it. Or at least, you do as he says, and *slash* out at the cloud above, and you sort of feel something heavy in your arm, in Cut-chan, rising to her tip but - instead of carrying on, out of the point, it flows back down -

And you can't help but feel the strange, vibrating waves of pressure as they slam down out of her pommel. And into the boat.

And through the boat.

The cracking sound is very, very loud.

Mibird looks down at the rapidly growing puddle entering his boat, expressionless.

>.... I can explain.
>I didn't do it.

You consider this. "Oops?" Then you shuffle backwards because GOSH, the water level's rising quickly. "Um. Just so you know, I have a Devil Fruit."

Mibird reaches up to pinch the bridge of his nose, looking utterly exasperated. "Get your crew's attention. And you OW me a new boat."

Pfft, whatever, it can't be THAT expensive.
_____

"You're going to be bankrupt for life," Klaus tells you, once you and Mibird have been pulled aboard the fishing boat hastily commandeered from Matchstick Village. Mibird himself has vanished indoors to get dry, because hes now impressively bedraggled. "But honestly, I'm mostly just surprised you're not dead."

"Eh, I think he's got something going on with Lolonoa. Guess he wants me alive for now. But still, I got a new move!"

Klaus looks at you with pity. "You also sunk a Shichibukai's boat."

Your eyes flicker left, right, left, as you laugh in a confident and manly way. "Ahahahahaha, it's not like I've ever blown up a ship before, first time for everything, ahahahahaha~!"

Klaus' own eyes narrow as he steps in close. Way too close. "Pardon?"

"I- I just said that of course I, uh, I've never. Blown up a ship before. It's my first time! Accidents happen!"

Pressing in like a witch about to drag you away and throw you into her oven (and now you're thinking about gingerbread houses, stop the hunger, Flashy!), Klaus leans over you with an aura of accusation simmering. "Haaaaaarry~" he croons, mouth turning to a simpering smile.

You try not to look at Klaus as the confession dribbles free from your mouth, staring instead at the calm seas lapping at the sides of the fishing boat. "I may have been unaware of the exact size of the powder stores when I picked the hold as somewhere I wouldn't be found practising with my Fruit."

The weight of his regard rests on you heavily for all of ten long years (or seconds, but it feels more like years), before you hear him with, hand relaxing its death grip on your shoulder. "Considering you're trying to be less manipulative, I guess I should be glad for the honesty, late as it is. And I can definitely see why you wouldn't want to admit that."

Huh. He sounds... actually not angry? You sneak a peek at him - he mostly looks a little tired. Weird. Still, his eyes are relaxed rather than narrowed and glaring death at you. "... You're really not mad?"

"Eh. It was dumb and reckless, and sheer luck we all survived. Don't get me wrong, I'm never gonna laugh about it, but... I already knew about your stunts when I signed up for permanent babysitting duties. So getting pissed off when you pull something stupid just means I'll end up having a heart attack every day."

Oof.

"That said," he drawls, louder now, "No more sword OR Logia training while on a ship unless someone responsible's there with you, got it?"

You bristle. "What?! Seriousl-"

"You just sank. A Shichibukai's. Boat."

Yeah, it was nothing. Sad.

>papaaaaa, just blew up a ship

"Only a little!"

Klaus klauses at you. Klausily.

"... Okay, yeah, point. But to be fair, it was under Mibird's direct supervision, soooo..."

"Yeah, and that's probably the main reason he didn't let you drown or kill you himself," your swordhobo says, voice dry. "Either way, you're going to be owing him a LOT. So try not to piss him off any more, yeah?"

"He didn't seem that angry?"

"Trust me. He's the cold anger type. You're boned."

Oh.

You scuff your boot on the deck of the fishing boat. "That's... not good."

"No. No, it really isn't. Because while I'll try damn hard to save your life, Prettyboy, I'm absolutely NO match for Hawk-eyes. So please," he continues, giving your shoulder a quick, gentle shake, "PLEASE, don't give him any more reason to kill us all. Okay?"

You nod. You're standing in a growing puddle of water dripping from you - at least the guys got to you fast enough that Mibird didn't just let you drown - and it's just... shaping up to be a bad day. At least your hangover's gone.

"Water 7, huh?" Klaus' hand moves up to briefly brush against your sea-slick hair, before pulling back. "Never been there. I hear it's nice. And hey, maybe Mihawk can get a new boat there."

>I think coffin boats are probably a custom-made thing.
>Mm. We're going to Ennies Lobby, after.

No, Klaus is mentally being all mushy, and it looked like he was edging into just going 'hey dumbass, you're my son'. But he didn't.

Maybe Gland-chan's using her Jobbery to make any thought of her destruction fail to even exist.

All that's left for the victim is ideas like "I should keep it around just in case", "I'm sure I could use this somehow", or "Wonder what happens if I chuck it at someone even luckier?"

He would never wear a hawaiian shirt even in private..
>>

>>
Wait, we're practically demi gods when it comes to paper work; can't we just finagle Mibird a more bitching ship, due to his status as a Shichibuki? Maybe say how it was an attempt to besmirch Mibird's and the Navy's name/pride/whatever.
>>
>>3722643
I think he likes the whole aesthetic of aimlessly sailing around in a coffin, luckily that shit is tiny and the fear that surrounds mihawk should get water 7 to make him a new better coffin quick as hell.
>>
>tell me about ships, papa-Klaus

"Is it true Gold Rogers' ship was built there?"

"Yeah, out of some fancy, rare wood. Eden Wood? Something like that." Klaus leans against the side of the boat, peering down. There are no sea-kings in sight, but without the seastone-coated hull of a Marine ship, you never know. "The company that built it is still in business - Water 7 does a lot of business with pirates, although it's... rarely proven."

Smells like briiiiiibery. And probably discretion, sure, but mostly bribes.

>You're pretty much ancient, did you ever see Rogers' ship?
>So if we see a bunch of pirates while we're in Water 7, and they're not causing trouble, are we supposed to just ignore them?

>but what if i see my oniichwan

"Most Marine ships are built here too," you point out, because that seems massively dumb. "Seems kind of dangerous to play both sides like that."

"Water 7 is kind of neutral in that regard. As long as everyone's discreet, the Government puts up with it- Water 7 shipwrights, and the Galley La company especially, are just too good to piss off or start ordering around. And if they take away a major source of income from the shipwrights, they'll have to start paying more foe their own ships... So better not to rock the boat."

You huff. "So if we see a bunch of pirates while we're in Water 7, and they're not causing trouble, are we supposed to just ignore them?"

"Pretty much." Klaus shrugs. "If it's a big name, use your common sense, but if it's just some regular crew... yeah, turn a blind eye, unless they're doing something illegal."

"... I'm starting to think half of being a Marine is pretending not to notice people breaking the law."

"Yeeeeeah." Klaus sighs, reaching for his flask. "Pretty much. Part of the reason I didn't sign back up after... everything."

"Less of the 'we', please, I ditched that bullcrap," Klaus mutters. Then, "Okay, look. I'll be the first to just - shit over Marine practices, and the Government. But even I have'ta admit, they do a lot of good in the world. They DO at least attempt to take down most of the scum. They DO generally now the seas a lot safer. They DO punish corruption when they find it. Just..." He pulls a face. "Does the bad outweigh the good? I dunno, and I haven't even dug that far. Just the crap that you find out anyway when you get high enough. Who knows what they're doing that's actually WELL hidden? Buuuut... if we're talking individuals, rather than the system, I'd say most are decent. It's just kind of like... five percent of assholes ruining it for everyone else."

"Except the five percent are the ones with the real power," you point out, annoyed.

"Yup!" He turns to look at you now, smiling almost aggressively. "The World Government exists to serve the Celestial Dragons, not the people. Countries pay tithes for protection; the Dragons pay eff-all, and call the shots. Simple as that. Under that kind of system, anything goes as long as it stays stable."

Scowling, you stare across into the distance. Is it really pointless? "I just... every time I turn around, I see something disgusting I'm supposed to support. How am I supposed to change that?"

"Weeeell... Simple answer is, you probably can't. As soon as people realize you're trying to change things, in ways that'll end their profits or comfort... people tend not to last long." He sounds bitter, unsurprisingly. "You'd need a high-ranked support network you could trust, ones capable of defending themselves in combat and politics. You'd need a new system to put in place, and people to actually uphold that new system - I mean..." Klaus considers. "You'd probably need the Fleet Admiral and all the Admirals to support you, and most of the Vice and Rear Admirals. Plus the leaders of the Cipher Pols... And the media, of course. The Inspectorate as well, because you'd need to search through every base for corruption of malcontents... if you could get the Commander-in-Chief, that'd be best. Otherwise, they'd have to be-" He makes a vague motion, then turns it into a head-scritching for Rodent, who peeks his head out. "Disposed of. Hypothetically speaking."

Maybe you should just pretend Klaus didn't suggest assassinating/executing the CiC.

"That's... a lot."

"The Marines are a big organization. Plus, then you have all the militaries of the larger countries to worry about, so you also need people outside the Marines to back you - politicians, royalty, that kinda thing. Nah - you might change some crap, but there's too much to put a stop to everything, Prettyboy. Too much profit in it all. Not to mention all the chaos, and criminals taking advantage of said chaos."

You consider the matter thoroughly, mind twisting through the various problems that would need to be resolved, the wealthy and powerful standing in the way of decency, the corruption and laziness, the slave trade, the misuse of power in all its myriad forms.

Then you sigh as you reach the unfortunate, but inevitable conclusion. "Guess I gotta conquer the world."

Klaus jolts. "What?! That's- no. That's NOT what I was trying to say!"

You squint at him. "It isn't?"

"No! You don't have- huh. Okay, I guess you'll be a powerhouse with a little more training. But you also need allies, like.... Okay, yeah." Face in palms, Klaus groans, quiet even before the muffling. "PLEASE don't destroy the Government with legal loopholes, Prettyboy, that's just anticlimactic."

"I mean, SOMEONE'S gotta fix this," th point out, like the reasonable and nature professional that you are. "And no-one else is stepping up, so why not me?"

"You realize this is a major, long-term thing, right?"

You casually wave a hand, dismissing his boring concerns. "It's okay, I'll just keep being a dumbass and no-one'll suspect me of anything until it's too late. Maybe get a new pirate costume for the explicit stuff..." Your voice lowers slightly as you start mentally ticking boxes, like internal paperwork. Nice and organized. "Could use my Fruit for intel gathering, then just try to legalese them into self-destruction..."

Feeling your gleeful grin growing wider as you consider and dismiss options, you ignore Klaus' widening eyes and mild twitchiness in favor of reminding yourself of the exact laws regarding slander and libel.

Mmmmmm, bureacracy~ So easy to tie in happy little knots...

"Uh. Kid? Prettyboy?"

You blink and look up at your swordhobo. "Yeah?"

He stares at you, looking a little bewildered, and a lot like he's having a revelation. It's an odd mix. "Are you - do you seriously want to..." He airquotes. "'Take over the world'?"

"Yeah." A shrug. "Don't see why not. The ones running the show right now are kinda sucking at it."

Klaus runs a hand through his hair, almost tugging it, still staring at you. "Right. Okay. Great. And... I mean, you're - You want to do that from inside the Marines?"

"Mostly? I'll have to do some stuff... outside, I guess." Maybe as Arthur. Or a different disguise! A dashing, mysterious one!

You are absolutely NOT overthrowing the Government just stop you have a chance to dress up in cool costumes. Honest. Really. You swear. Probably.

At the very least, it's a nice bonus.

Klaus groans. Very quietly. Then he leans in closer to you, bending slightly. "Prettyboy... we're gonna have'ta have a loooong, serious talk about this later, and how exactly you'll manage this, but for now - promise me you won't mention this to Smo-kun, okay? I know you trust him, but... He wouldn't report you, or anything, but he wouldn't exactly be supportive, either."

Theres a lot to do before you can legally punch slave owners if the face, apparently. Wait. You tilt your head slightly, interested. "Does that mean YOU support me toppling the Government and crushing the world under my heel?"

"You literally could NOT do a worse job than the ones already in charge," Klaus points out. "But... seriously, shit needs to change, Prettyboy. Maybe what you're planning won't work out. But at the very least, you'll hopefully be a high rank, have a lotta friends and allies looking out for you, and maybe make the world at least slightly better while you're at it. So yeah, as long as you don't think it'll be fast or easy." He reaches out, smirking, and mockingly pats your still-soaked hair. "And if it all goes horribly wrong and they arrest you, I'll see if I can break you out, yeah? We can hide out somewhere for a few years and you might learn to be a decent swordsman in the meantime."

"I'm decent! I sparred with Mibird!"

"He toyed with you."

"...Same thing?"

He pats your wet hair again, even slower. "Of course, poor child. Of course."

It's too late.

It's too late.

The sub itself is dark inside, lit only by irregular flashes of light from the bulbs not covered by that fleshy excrescence. Its body lines the vessel now, pulsating veins of bloody matter layering the floor, the walls, the ceilings. The humid air keeps the sticky mucous from drying, rancid liquid pooling in the furrows of her grown body; gnawed bones of the once-Heart Pirates are slowly eaten away by the acidity of the effluence and the rancid air.

Trafalgar Law has locked himself in the last safe room, and his air is running out. But at least he'll be dead by the time her tendrils manage to get through the triple-lined door.

All will become one in Gland-chan's devouring Heart.

>HOLY BOVINE, you beat the DC!

Like the manly man you are, you stick your tongue out and saunter away. Wetly. You really need to be in the sea less.

Klaus vanishes inside, still smug, which gives you the opportunity to get some nice, safe, non-ship-blowing-up training in.

Which you promptly proceed to suck at.

At first, you just... can't activate your Armament. Yet again. Seriously, this is waaaay harder than Observation - but after a good ten or so minutes of glaring at your fist and trying to make it turn black, you manage to get a faint sensation of... that weird feeling. You know the one.

The Armament thingy.

And then - then you shove it down your hand, keeping it steady, not letting it lessen or disappear... and your hand turns darker, a strange feeling of weight filling it, now you're paying closer attention.

Nah, not weight. Some kind of pressure.

(Armament +1! DC now 91!)

>met temp DC 82

Next up, now you've activated it - KEEP THE DAMN THING TURNED ON. Thankfully, this turns out to be easier (albeit more tiring) than activating it in the first place. All you have to do is keep the weird energy mentally in place, and if it happens to fade away, turn the 'volume' up.

It's weird as hell.

On the bright side, you do manage to keep it going throughout your hand for a good ten minutes, before it finally deactivates all at once, leaving you feeling like you ran three marathons back to back. Ow. Presumably if you were doing your whole body, it would last far less time.

(Armament +1! DC 90.)

Aaaand then you sit on deck and try to catch your breath for a while. Who knew making your hand matte black was so tiring?

At least Observation is a lot easier for you; once you're feeling like you can actually wall again, you activate that instead, and give it some practice, trying to push the boundaries of your range.

It... mostly works. There's not a big increase, but in return for making the feedback a little less precise, you can push it out about five meters further, although there's not much to read from the sea anyway, admittedly. Not many fish this close to the surface here, and too many waves to get a grasp on all of them.

Mibird really does exude an aura of confident self-assurance and a hint of sadism that you would classify as 's giant warning signal to stay away from'. Alas, you don't bother with those.

More importantly, Water 7 is coming into sight - a vast island-city, towering above the water. Which means you should... probably figure out what you're going to do.

>Take (who?) with you. (Mibird is guaranteed, anyone you don't pick will go do their own thing while in Water 7.)

I assume you'll be dropping the camera off at a repair shop, then going clothes shopping. (Mibird will also be dragging you along while he orders a new vampire nest for himself.) You'll have about five hours total in Water 7 unless you decide to ditch Mibird and stay there. If you want to do anything else while there, please say.

I got so distracted by RL stuff I forgot about them. Will type up from notes tomorrow and post them, sorry. Thanks for reminding me, I'm a giant dumbass. I'll update a few as well, like Klaus' and Mibird's.

Yaaaaaaay I suuuuuuuck~

>i just need to inform everyone that egg custard tarts are disgusting

The minions seem pretty damn excited about Water 7, after a quick talk with them - apparently it's a good place for tourism. Of course, for people from East Blue, almost anywhere in the Grand Line is exciting. Abs has been here before, but he apparently wants to get 'Striker' rebuilt, which is apparently his boat that got blown up by Blackbeard. You're just glad you weren't to blame for that one.

As for you, you reeeally need to get your camera fixed, and pick up some clothes. And maybe some books on electricity. Oh, and maybe some cheap weapons to practice with that you won't accidentally melt.

Man, your savings are gonna take a dent.

Klaus... seems happy to just comenwoth you and babysit. Probably because it'll be embarrassing if you burn the city down.

As for Mibird...

"You'll be coming with me when I get my boat replaced," he tells you, ever so casually. You're not stupid enough to think it's a request.

"... Okay," you agree anyway, trying not to sound meek and stabbable. "So, uh, any idea how much it's gonna be? Because I'm not, you know, rich or anythi-"

"We'll work something out," Mibird says, dismissively. You don't like the smirk as he says it.

At least the docking goes smoothly, although the harbourmaster looks more than a little panicked at the sight of two Shichibukai emerging from a fishing boat. At least you're mostly dry by now.

While the minions and Abs head off their separate ways, you glance down at your poor, abused camera. "Anyone mind if I try to find a place to fix this, first?"

"Like I care," Klaus shrugs.

Mibird is even more blunt. "Get on with it."

Right. Okay then.

One of the port workers directs you to a suitable shop, close enough you won't have to... rent a bull. Because apparently 'bulls' are needed to traverse the myriad canals running through the city.

This is normal.

"I need to some books while I'm here, too. And some cheap weaponry I can test my Devil Fruit on," you tell Klaus, as the three of you head towards the shop. People sure do jump out of the way fast when they spot Mibird and his Bigass Sword heading towards them.

"You're gonna bankrupt yourself."

"Pretty much," you sigh, thinking of Mibird's boat as well, as you spot the small camera-shop squeezed in between two bigger stores.

Okay, two for casinos, and just noticed there's two for 'how do i money'.

Writing for cash first because they came in before the second casino.

>money get

"Any idea how I can make cash fast?"

"Bounty hunting," Klaus says immediately, as your trio steps up to the unmanned counter.

"... Seriously?"

He looks at you pointedly. "How'd you think I funded the last couple of decades of my life? Apart from scoring free food from Marine bases."

You... had absolutely no idea. Huh. "Okay, but I'm a Marine. I can't claim bounties."

Klaus eyerolls. "So wear civilian clothes and don't tell anyone you're a Marine, you absolute blond."

That's so... illegal...

"Am I supposed to pretend I can't hear this?" Mibird sounds pretty chill with the casual incitement of law-breaking, which makes sense considering he's a pirate.

"Klaus is just kidding! Of course he'd never have me break the law!" You shoot Mibird a wide grin and double-thumbs up. "I love rules!"

"Yay law," Klaus drones. "Woo. Go team goody-goody."

Mibird looks distinctly unimpressed, although you're luckily saved by the arrival of an old man in a well-fitted suit, who takes one look at the battered camera around your neck and nearly bursts into tears.

"Help?" You hold it up.

As he gingerly takes it, he looks at you with pure disgust.

... You tried your best?

"I'll need to assess the damage," the man stiffly tells you, singularly unaffected by the presence of Hawkeyes 'Amuse Me Or Die' Mibird. It's actually kinda impressive.

He vanishes out back once more, your camera in tow this time, leaving the three of you alone again in the cramped shop lined with various cameras, and a large cage of visual den den mushi.

"Any other ways to make cash quick?"

Klaus considers. "... Theft?"

"......... Which one of you is the pirate, again?"

If you guys go for bounty hunting, you'll need a disguise (woohoo!). If you're just going to kick down the door of some gang and beat them up so you can take their money, you can do it as a Marine (or in disguise too). It's up to you.

Looks like both options win for response, though you're not locked in for actually doing either.

"The bounty hunting idea sounds... maybe workable," you decide, after a few seconds of thought. "Of course, if I stole from criminals, that's not technically illegal..."

"You'll need a good amount to pay for my boat," Mibird says, though he's eyeing the stock with mild interest. Apparently he doesn't go into camera shops very often. To be fair, neither do you. "The original cost 60,000,000 beri, but I had it quite a while, and the wood's rarer now. The next one... perhaps two hundred million?"

What.

"Oh, I apologize," he adds, glancing at you with an innocent expression betrayed by the sheer glee evident in his eyes. "You DO have that amount, yes?"

Crap.

No.

"Two hundred million beri?! For a coffin?!" Klaus sounds just as horrified as you feel.

"Its an unusual shape for a boat," Mibird clarifies, eyes glittering with yellow assholery, "so it requires careful carving to be made sea-worthy, not to mention the expense of the wood itself. Bilerian hawthorn may be the wood of death, but it's also very hard for shipwrights to handle."

"The wood of death?!" WHO THE HELL NEEDS THEIR COFFIN SHIP MADE OUT OF STUPID DEATH-WOOD?

Mibird eyes you... birdishly. "Rear Admiral. You actually believe you'll live that long."

"I'll make sure he does," Klaus butts in, which is nice. "And yeah, he'll probably make it to Rear Admiral in... about five years."

Pssshh, so slow. You nod fervently, anyway.

Mibird keeps studying you, with a flicker more interest this time, like he's turning something over in his mind. Then he just looks smug. "Three favors. Not to be called in until you're at least Rear Admiral; and if you die before then, that's that. Agreed?

Klaus didn't want us near Mihawk because the latter is one of the most personally dangerous people in the world. There's nothing in the story (at least that I had read up to the end of the whole cake arc) that implies he's the type of person to maliciously abuse favours from people - hell, he spends his time floating around alone or in his mysterious Castle of Doom, not puppeteering dumb Marine Commanders just because they seem like interesting potentials. He's probably one of the safer characters to owe this kind of debt to, especially considering he's already straddling the neutrality line with his own position.
>>
>>3728870
Your post kinda misses the whole point. Klaus didn't want us near Mohawk cause he's one of the most dangerous guys in the sea. Us owing him is literally one of the things Klaus doesn't want us to do cause he's dangerous. Even if story wise he's pretty neutral that doesn't mean it's okay to owe him. I'd rather not owe anybody this type of debt, especially if we can help it.

Just as you're opening your mouth to agree to this deal with the Devilbird, a thought hits you. Then you grin.

"Before we commit to anything," you suggest, "let me see if I can't work my paperwork wizardry into getting you a ship. Worst case scenario, I still owe you either money or favors. Best case scenario? They owe YOU money for the ship."

Mibird arches an eyebrow. "You want to make the Government pay for my boat. And you believe it may be possible."

Grin-nod-grin-nod-grin.

"Hm." His completely disinterested look belies the next words. "I'm just intrigued enough to be willing to see if you can pull that off. But if you fail - four favors instead of three, to make up for my... disappointment, one of them to be owed at any time. Acceptable?"

"All right!" The second you're outsidr the shop, you make your choice (mostly based on keeping Mibird happy and yourself and Klaus unstabbed). "Seeing as you put up with one of my own errands, let's go do your boat, Mibird!"

"We'll need to take a bull there," he says, not even bothering to thank you for your incredible generosity.

"Where exactly are we going?" Klaus hurries along with you behind Mibird as the Shichibukai power-walks in search of a bull rental shop.

"The Galley-La company. I won't let anyone but the finest shipwrights build my vessel."

"Right, makes sense." Klaus nudges you slightly as your group finds a rental shop, and Mibird vanishes inside to make arrangements. "Prettyboy, got your Observation active?"

"Should I?"

He stares at you blankly. "... You realize that using it in a crowded place is a good way to train it, right? Don't you have it active as much as possible?"

"....... No?"

He sighs. "Fine. Just... We'll have to have another talk about your training, as well as your... plans. I'm gonna have to up your lessons if you wanna stay on track for fast promotions." Klaus glances at you, face serious. "And we'll need to discuss the downsides of you getting promoted, too."

Downsides?

There's no real time to ask, though; Mibird emerges and directs you to the bull he's hired, which should take you straight to Galley-La.

Hopefully they give discounts to Shichibukai...

"Wow. Zolo's going to kill whoever that guy is SUPER HARD. Who's it going to?"

For all Mibird's impeccable posture right now, he gives the most lackadaisical of shrugs. "Someone on Ennies Lobby, one presumes. Beyond that, I neither know, nor care."

... Well. Okay, then.

You kinda hope Zolo doesn't actually flip out in rage and kill the poor guy or girl who presumably thought they'd won the jackpot to be given a meitou.

You lean forwards, curious. "What IS your thing with Zolo, anyway?"

"An answer for an answer," Mibird immediately responds. "What's YOUR opinion of him, Commander?"

Beside you, Klaus feels oddly curious, in a more general way than the sudden lazer-focus of Mibird's attention.

"Rival really is the best word for it, wish we could be friends but the world doesn't work that way."

"Mm." Mibird feels... content with that answer. "A through admission. Very well." He settles back, one leg crossed on the other knee. "Roronoa Zoro is the best possibility I've yet found to my successor as greatest swordsman. He has the potential to surpass my skills, given time, and the mindset of a true swordsman." He cocks his head slightly, looking at you through half-lidded eyes. "I was... less than pleased to hear about his capture and loss of Wado Ichimonji... but you're not an intolerable rival for him, as long as you can rapidly increase your own abilities."

"He will," Klaus says sharply, arms folded. "Prettyboy's potential is higher than Roronoa's."

"We'll see," Mibird drawls, clearly disbelieving.

"... I want to get Wado back," you admit, because if you can't confess to sort-of-treaaon in front of Mibird and Klaus, who CAN you confess it in front of?

The pair of them look at you, emotions tasting like surprise-curiosity-interest-amusement-consideration.

"To- you want Roronoa to get his sword back," Klaus grasps.

"If he earns it," you argue. "I wouldn't just... give it to him!"

Mibird's yellow eyes gleam. "Earning his lost weapon back... yes... that would be poetic..."

"It's already been assigned to someone," Klaus points out, as the bull takes another corner, heading upwards. "You can't - I mean, how could you get hold of it?"

>mibird just wants ~drama~

Shrugging, you decide to hold off on decisions. Except for the one to hold off. "I'll have to see who's getting it, might challenge them to a duel for it, probably gonna have to wing it. But I'm good at that."

Mibird looks (and feels) distinctly unimpressed. "Disappointing, but I suppose fighting a wider variety of opponents would be better for him."

Looking at him blandly, Klaus raises an eyebrow. "You just want to see them fight as rivals, don't you?"

"With such a sword at stake? It would certainly be more impressive than his winning it from some no-name Marine," the ginormous drama-queen muses. "And if that wielder is usually based at Ennies Lobby, it will doubtless be some time before he tracks it down to there..."

That's a good point. If you decide not to challenge the person, maybe you could casually drop a little hint to Zolo about where it is? Although it's not like he can get into Ennies Lobby anyway... ugh. What a pain.

"Life is complicated," you lament.

"Didn't you give it to Tashigi in the first place?" Thanks, Klaus. "Pretty sure you're the one making it complicated."

Thankfully, your sulking is interrupted by your arrival at the Galley-La company's Dock 1, because Mibird snottily insists it's the best of their shipyards, and Seasus forbid he have anything less than the best. You're probably actually meant to go to an office or something, but no-one's gonna tell a Shichibukai what to do-

Wait.

Actually, they will, because amidst all the construction going on, you can see Abs up ahead, in some kind of argument with

You squint at him as you follow behind Mibird, but - nah, it's just the nose that's similar, and even that's... more angular.

It's a messed-up nose, is what you're saying.

Getting closer, you can hear a little more of what's going on, even as the dockworkers spot who's approaching and clear the hell out of your way. Apparently Abs doesn't have any money for a down-payment for his 'Striker', which makes sense considering any cash he had is probably back with the Whitebeard pirates.

>it's time to ABUSE THE SYSTEM FOR FUN AND PROFIT

"Heeeeey, Abs," you interrupt, smooth as melted ice cream. (Mmm, ice cream.) "I'm looking into getting the Government to pay for Mibird's creepy floating coffin, wanna see if I can wrangle it for you too?"

Abs looks between you and fake-Usopp with obvious hope. "Really? Is that possible?"

"It isn't guaranteed," Mibird drawls. "If he doesn't succeed, he'll owe me instead."

Fireplace looks at you with... wow, yeah, that's actually mild concern. "That sounds lose-lose for you. Do you actually gain anything?"

"... If I succeed, I don't owe him anything?"

Now you think about it, the deal kinda sucks. Although to be fair, you WERE the one who blew up his boat, and he didn't stab you, soooo...

"We've never had the Goverment pay for Shichibukai before, though I'll admit I don't know if there's any allowance for it," Fake-Usopp politely comments. "That said, the owner may have a better idea."

"If it isn't possible, I can pay for mine," Mibird adds. "Not all of us are financially embarrassed."

Fireplace promptly pulls a face and flips him off. Understandable, if suicidal. Fortunately, Mibird just gives a small smirk in return.

Fake-Usopp sighs, apprently unintimidated by a confrontation by two Shichibukai. "I'll let our boss' secretary know to arrange a meeting. Mr Mihawk, I assume you want the same specifications as last time?"

A brief shop talk ensues, as Mibird probably throws on a bunch of extras to bankrupt the Government. Fireplace, meanwhile, looks at you with what feels to your Haki like embarrassed reluctance. "Hey, ah... can I borrow your Den Den? I might need to call Garp if the Government won't pay."

>Yeah, guess you can't really be a Shichibukai without some kind of ship...

"Yeah, guess you can't really be a Shichibukai without some kind of ship... If push comes to shove, Shichibukai can collect bounties, right? Or you can just rob some other pirates."

"I don't really want to collect bounties," Abs admits. "Not unless I have to, it's kind of... too much, you know? I guess I could rob some crews I don't like, but without a ship I'd have to catch them on land."

You take a minute to wonder just what it must be like, to go from a loyal, happy member of the Whitebeard 'family' to someone reviled by the majority of pirates, and a good chunk of civilians. He likely hasn't even spoken to his old crew, not unless he managed to sneak a call to them to say goodbye.

No doubt they're more than a little pissed off that one of the Commanders ran off to be a Shichibukai. Hopefully you aren't on any paperwork they get hold of...

You consider. "Water 7 has quite a lot of pirates here to get their ships fixed, right?"

"Why don't you stay here instead of coming to Ennies Lobby? A few days should be more than enough for you to rob some of 'em."

You feel Fireplace's hope spike, pleased by the thought. "Yeah - I even saw a couple of pirates wandering around on my way here, it's not like they're in hiding. That's... actually a good idea. I can spend the next couple of days doing that - ah, the Aqua Laguna's coming, that'll be useful..." He trails off into a mumble, eyes glazing as he rubs his chin. Looks like Abs has got this sorted, and you can't imagine any of the crews stopping off here will give him any real trouble. You can look into the paperwork, and if it doesn't work out, Fireplace can still pay his own way, and you'll only be stuck with Mibird's favors.

Not bad!

Mibird seems to be winding the conversation down with Fake-Usopp, while Klaus idly listens in.

9 is... Well, you'll see. I am ~excite~.

>amble aimlessly

With Fireplace distracted by money, Mibird and Klaus distracted by the nose- sorry, dockworker, and your minions off who-knows-where, being tourists, you have nothing better to do than explore the dockyard.

You get some stares as you walk, but between everyone being busy, and the fact you're not trying to touch anything or get close to anything hazardous, no-one jumps out to tell you to get back to the others.

Instead, you take in the sights of the boats and ships - most just in for repairs, although one's being built from scratch - two are Marine, another looks suspiciously piratical (although the sails are down, so no jolly roger), and various others are huge, expensive things, perhaps more for pleasure than cargo judging by the useless decorations and ostentatious color-schemes.

It's when you're passing by one of those massive, gaudy ones that you sense watchfulness-patience-wariness from... a stack of crates by the wall of a storage building.

... Who the hell hangs around behind a buncha crates like that?

ALAS. Well, you made me laugh, so you have my sympathy.

>89, 2 DCs passed

You pause to 'admire some artfully carved railings leaned against a wall', aka focus on your Observation Haki.

The sneaky stalky watcher tastes like... well, like sneakiness. Not like a scared rabbit or the like, but with an air of quiet confidence, as though failing in their activity would be annoying, but not really a huge issue.

Oh, and they're male - you're getting a lot better at figuring out the details of what you sense. Apart from that... they have a certain energy and faint enthusiasm to them that feels like youth; maybe in their early twenties? But tempered with... you frown slightly, trying to angle a little closer to them without being noticed - they don't feel immature or overly brash. Whoever they are, they may be young, but they've got some real life experience.

(Observation Haki improved! You can now almost always accurately sense the person's gender/approximate age! Strawbrat will probably feel like a permanent 12 year old, though.)

Your feet legs hands arms are flailing, failing to steady yourself, but you manage to keep your mouth shut - if you don't yelp, maybe Mr Sneaky won't notice yo-

Oh.

Oh, that's the edge of the buil-

You fly through the air in an increasingly downwards motion, as Gravity, that cruel bitch, wraps its talons around you and slams you down.

You see a faint blur of a person spinning around - whoah-cool-top-hat - wide eyes - and then, a second before you slam into Mr Sneaky, two arms are slipping around you, dragging you from your projected path and swinging you smoothly into...

A princess carry.

You stare up at the snazzily-dressed Mr Sneaky, who looks utterly bewildered as he stares righy back at you. Ooh, biiiig scarring on part of his face, though his hair falls in front of it a moment later.

You blink. He blinks back. Maybe you could get some Morse Code going. Or, uh. Say something?

You tentatively open your mouth. "...... hi."

"........" says Mr Stealthy, although the combat-readiness-adrenalin-rush you sense from him is fading rapidly into just continuing confusion. "Hi?" Then his eyes flick over you, up and down - wariness increasing back up to 'ready to attack' levels as he sees your coat, and the swords and Pistol-chan - although the rest are hidden in dials under your coat.

Despite that, his face shifts into a charming smile, posture relaxed, radiating an ease entirely at odds with the caution your Observation detects. His grips on you tighten almost imperceptibly. "Mind if I ask you a question?"

"Yes," you say immediately, answering the question he's no doubt bound to ask. "It hurt when I fell from heaven." Then you point a fingergun at him and grin, keeping your body loose and pretending not to notice his faint flinch as your arm moved so suddenly.

Mr Sneaky feels faintly like amusement after, although it's quickly drowned by continuing wariness. "Good to know, but not really what I was going to ask."

You slap on your Innocent Idiot expression. "Oh?"

"Yeah... I was more interested in finding out exactly WHY you, ah, 'fell from heaven'." His smile is impish, friendly still. "People don't usually throw themselves into my arms, let alone Marine... Lieutenants?"

"Uh - me, my swordhobo, Mibird and Abs?"

Aaaand now he's back to confusion. "Swordho-? Wait, for Mibird, do you mean Mihawk?"

You shrug, which is surprisingly hard to do while being princess-carried. "Sure, why not."

"... Right. And swordhobo is...?"

"My sword teacher. Ex-Marine. Kind of a sadist. Nice guy, though! Steals shampoo. That's, uh, not the thing that makes him a nice guy."

"R-right..." Mr Sneaky feels utterly lost for a second, before you feel him calming his thoughts and bringing logic back to the fore. "And Abs?"

You eyeroll. "Just some guy who keeps going around with his shirt open. Like, I have an incredible tattoo, but do *I* do that? No! ... Although if I had abs like that, maybe I would." Despite your informative words, Mr Sneaky just cocks an eyebrow at you, still tasting like faint amusement. Why does your Observation fixate on taste? You havent heard of anyone else's doing that. "... Firefist Ace, if you want to get boring and technical."

"Firefist..." He pauses, eyes unfocusing slightly, the arms around you tightening a fraction. Then the next words comes out as a confused, questioning plea. "... Ace?"

Which is when he stumbles to his knees without a hint of warning, head lowering as he hits the dirt. Unfortunately, he's still got a good grip on you, which means your ass hits the ground as well, and you nearly take he edge of his (stylish) top hat in your eye.

Apart from the unwarned pain of ass-hits-ground, though, you're more overwhelmed by the sudden PAIN-LOSS-HORROR-GUILT that's blaring from Mr Stealthy, because what the absolute crap?!

Can't argue with a 97 dice roll. I'm starting to think Sabo stole all Abs' luck...
Oh Seasus. Sabo is Gland-chan.

>shake shake rattle and roll

Okay.

This is different.

You take a moment to consider your situation - held, practically on the floor, but a stylishly-dressed guy (is that... a pipe on his back? Really?) in the middle of Water 7's top dockyard, while he has some kind of mental breakdown. One that's hurting your own head in turn. Rude.

Yeah, it's not way up there on your weirdness scale, but still a bit unusual. That decided, you take his shoulders by your hands (trying not to get whacked in the face by the top of his hat) and start shaking, gentle for now. "Hey? Hey, Mr Sneaky, don't have a fit on me, okay? My medical training is waaaaay down there. Please?"

Uh. Crap.

It's sort of a trick based off Observation, but technically isn't Observation. Instead of sensing other people's emotions, you'd be able to project one of your own a short distance. So... not sure if it technically counts.

Hmm.

From the most legalistic and literal interpretation of your words, we would get a haki trick for critpassing a calming roll. As it was a calming roll, and not a haki roll, 57 does not crit, and does not unlock further haki-related abilities, no matter how badly I want them.

>>
>63 for calm yo tits. meh

Mr Stealthy-Sneaky-Spy-Guy, for some inexplicable reason, fails to take heed to of your excellent counsel. You feel a flicker of more awareness from him, probably due to the distraction of your words rather than the actual content.

At least his head tilts jerkily up again, face mostly visible once more - eyes wet and still unfocused, rims reddening, his skin flushed. He looks kinda bad.

Except for his hair. That's fantastic.

"I..." he begins, daxedly, body twitching slightly like he doesn't know how he should be moving it. His emotions are running rapidly, though you're not sure-

Ah. Okay. His eyes closing, he topples forwards, leaving you to quickly prop him up before he can collapse across you. Your back still hits the ground as well. Ouch. Great. Thanks.

Fortunately, he isn't THAT heavy; you shift up slightly, still pushing him semi-upright, and have a deep sigh. The sigh of a guy who just KNOWS he's gonna get blamed for this, somehow.

>Sling him over your shoulder and wander back to the others. All cool here! Just picked up a souvenir!

>Sling him over your shoulder and wander back to the others. All cool here! Just picked up a souvenir!

Sensitive flashy go!

Also sweet my suggestion went through. Like you'd unlock it and be dominating and stuff cause you'd be stressed out when you unlock it, and determination is probably easy to project, but the potential is there for other stuff.
>>
>hey guys look what i found can i keep it

... Well. You now seem to be in the possession of 1 (one) passed out Mr Stealthy. You never thought this day would come.

Managing to ease the guy onto the ground, you carefully poke his cheek - zero reaction. Okay. So... you could just leave him here. Either he'll wake up or someone will find him, but he's probably not meant to be here, so tough luck to him.

Buuuuutttt....

You stare down at his frowny-face. You don't think you've ever given anyone a mental breakdown before. Except maybe Smoboss. And Klaus. And several of the Academy instructors. And maybe Tashigi. And-

Okay, yeah, maybe a few. But! You should still take responsibility for it, right? Part of this whole 'being a mature non-asshole' thing? And you ARE kinda curious as to why the Abs mention was what made him flip.

Screw it.

"I'm gonna get muuuuuurdered for this~" you sing-song, standing up and getting Mr Stealthy with you. He's decently bulky, but not a fat-ass, thank Seasus, so you heave him over a shoulder without too much trouble. Then you have to duck down to grab his hat, because apparently they don't stay on too well when you're lying over someone like that.

So this is how peace will forged not through rebellion or subterfuge but by the aggressive adopting of anybody vaugely important... Oh God we really are a Charlotte. Hehe. Butt-hat.

>it's a classy hat, though

Sadly, no matter how dashing the hat is, you don't wear another man's hat. Partly because it's rude, and partly because that's how head-lice can spread. And by golly gee, you'll do your part not to spread 'em!

... Anyway, you keep one arm holding the dead weight of Mr Stealthy steady, and the hat in your other hand, as you walk past the crates and back out into the dockyard proper. A few workers look at you and doubletake, before apparently deciding it isn't their business, and going back to work.

You're not sure whether to be impressed by their professionalism or concerned at their casual disregard for some guy getting kidnapped, so you put their response down to your Marine coat Nd put it out of mind.

It's only a few minutes walk back to your little gang - they've moved on a little further, Fake-Usopp morning towards some planks of various wood as he apparently extols their virtues, but attention promptly turns to you as you turn up with human cargo.

I've already said that any photos of the 'chief of staff' are blurry or non-existent at this point in time, but Kaku's also been working undercover for several years and probably wouldn't be completely up to date on Random Criminals You Wouldn't Expect To See In Water 7 Anyway. I would agree with that. Also if we are taking some meta requests into consideration, would we be able to swing a promotion off the white mist sometime in the middle of the 2 year time skip? >>
>>3734442
given that right now the main thing the mist is doing is chasing the strawhats around paradise the timeskip would rob be the perfect time to be promoted out, would be the start of flashys plot to conquer the world, focuses on training and increasing his rank as mucha s he can while making allies, start teh ground work for admiralhood and beyond
>>
>>3734442
Also i like the idea of Mihawk one day showing up to kidnap flashy to go spar with zoro in Flavance, would prob be one fo the favors

FIRSTLY I've been called in to start my shift earlier than expected so new thread tomorrow and no more updates tonight, sorry. Don't know when they'll want me over the weekend but I'm assumed evenings/nights again probably. So new thread and opinions tomorrow, sorry. I know, I suck. I gave you Sabo though, so I think it evens out.

SECONDLY there will NOT be a two year timeskip. I might timeskip a few months, but the Sabaody/Kuma kerfuffle is highly unlikely to happen as per canon, so a lengthy timeskip is unlikely.

As for forming your own crew, there's the potential of staying with Smoboss longer if he also gets promoted, or you could sad-puppy-face him into letting you take some of the crew for your own. He already considers Hat and Sunglasses basically yours anyway.

Gotta go wooooork, good night, apologies, etc~~~

EL is the perfect chance to ascend and get a crew while staying alongside Smoboss. Think about it: Many people in the Marine knows that Smoker is chasing the Strawhats because he thinks they are dangerous. The Strawhats have alredy proved to be an scalating problem (they went from zero to "kidnapping" a princess from one of the most influencial families in the world and "joining" the revolution), after they blow up EL, the Marine will probably get angry and send someone to chase them...oh, wait Commodore Smoker is alredy chasing them, what a guy, he saw this coming and risked his career to stop suck a dangerous pirate crew, lets give him some reinforcements...oh, he wants this "Captain Flashman" to work with him because he was a member of his crew and they alredy know each other's tactics. Fine.

"This is mine now," you tell the silent gathering as you approach. Abs and Fake-Usopp are just staring, Klaus' face is descending slowly into his palm, and Mibird is... just watching with a blank face. Creepy. Meh.

You look at Fireplace, repositioning Mr Stealthy. "Hey Abs, what you did to this poor sod? He went comatose when I mentioned you."

"Well, I gotta admit, I don't recognize that ass," he dryly answers, folding his arms. You shrug, turning around, which is a far easier way to show the other side than heftng him back off again.

"I don't- wait." You hear Abs' voice turn confused behind you as he steps forwards, and the slight shift of weight on your back as he must check Mr Stealthy's face. "This can't be..." He sounds vague, bewildered. "The - pipe? Hat!?"

"Is there some kind of problem?" Fake-Usopp asks, mildly confused. Yeah, same here, buddy.

"This-!" Whoah, Fireplace sounds seriously freaky now, panicked and high-pitched. "THIS IS MY DEAD BROTHER?!"

............

............

...... um, what.

You glance over your (empty) shoulder in utter incomprehension, to see Klaus throw his hands up in the air. "Of course it is," he grouches. "Why would we expect anything else?"

Mihawk sounds amused. "Is this normal?"

"For Prettyboy?! Yes!"

You turn your attention to Abs. "Uh, he's not dead?"

"I KNOW!! THAT'S THE PROBLEM!!"

"Dude, harsh..." you mumble at the flailing, hysterical Shichibukai.

"That's not what I meant! I gotta - we gotta go! Give him to me!" He thrusts his arms out, face stubborn, waiting for you to dump your shiny new stealth-guy into his arms.

"I don't think anyone's even interested in these figureheads" Fake-Usopp murmurs, forgotten.
