“So... that Tapion guy’s leaving soon, huh?” Sachie asks you as the two of you make your way out of the dining room. She’d spent the night at your place the last few days, Zarid opting to hang with Gohan. Took her a bit to not be quite so starstruck by how you live in a “fairy tale castle” but seems she’s gotten over it.

“Yeah... he and Minotia will be meeting with Yurin’s ninja to say their goodbyes in a while.” You try your best not to sigh too loudly. You knew it’d be coming... and yet it’s still sad knowing it’s finally happening. The two of you head to the courtyard, where you spot dad training Monty again.

“Good, good, pace yourself.” Acer tells the boy, bokkens striking one another. “You’re getting better. But you’re still exerting yourself too much. Need to build up your stamina reserves first.”

“R-right, sir!” Monty responds, backing up. He wipes sweat from his brow, panting. Man, he’s really trying to push himself. Noticing you and Sachie, he gives a polite bow, then goes back to his stance. The boy’s kinda losing his focus, though. Maybe he’s going a bit overboard.

Your arms crossed, you ask Acer, “Um, actually, dad? Mind if Monty takes a little break, just for a bit?”

Acer looks over to you, then back at Monty. “...All right, take five. Get some water, rest yourself, and we’ll work on this in a bit.”

As dad leaves the courtyard, Monty sits down and lets out an exhausted sigh. “Th-thank... thank you, I-Izumi...”

Walking over, you comment, “More for your sake than anything. You’re really pushing yourself, you know. None of us really got where we did by going overboard like that. Not me, not Gohan, not Peppa, none of us.” He flinches when you say her name. Ah. Ahh. You sit down beside him. “...Do this for you. Help yourself improve.”

“Right...” He sighs again, less exhausted and more saddened. “I’ve... been trying. But it still feels like I keep hitting some walls.”

Asking Sachie to fetch his bottle of water, and with her tossing it to you, you hand it to him and tell him, “Everybody improves at their own pace. But part of finding what it is too is learning to improve for your own sake too. It’s why my mom and dad ever got as far as they did. Yeah, sure, they also cared for another, but part of that was taking care of themselves too. You need to work on doing the same. Tell you what, some time after this, we could have a longer chat. Sound good?”

He looks up and smiles. “Sure. Thank you again, Izumi.”

You stand and give him a thumb’s up, you and Sachie walking off. “So... was there anywhere you wanted to go today? I still kinda want to check on Tapion and Minotia before they leave, but we’ve got some time.”

Scratching her head, Sachie thinks. “Well... last shopping trip was pretty fun, but think we’ve gotten enough. You know, for now. How about we try some place new? Like... ooh! There was that circus thing you mentioned before, the one up near where your school is?”

“Musuka Circus? I mean, I guess we can do that. Big carnival thing set up.”

“Then come on, let’s gooooo!”

Sachie runs forward cheerfully, you calling the Nimbus to pick her up and flying off with her to Orange Star City. You make it to the circus quite quickly, noticing that a number of attractions have been set up all throughout it. Oooh... what to do first...

She glances around excitedly. “Oooooh... there’s so much! Oh! Oh! Let’s go for this first!” And she’s already bolted off to a Tilt-A-Whirl, bouncing on her heels eagerly as she waits in the (strangely short) line for it. You laugh and shrug, and head after her.

The two of you spend some time enjoying the carnival’s various attractions, Sachie amazed by not just the attractions, but even the crowds. You mention trying some elephant ear pastries, getting a pair, and she tries some face painting, having little fox whiskers added to her face.

Finally, the pair of you end up in the main attraction’s tent a bit before it starts. Things start off a little normal. Few elephant folks balancing on balls, a clown car filled with about 20 clowns, a tiger man leaping through a flaming hoop, and even a dog lady leading some ducks through an obstacle course. Things, however, start to take a less pleasant turn when they get to their final attraction.

“...Hey, Izzy, doesn’t that thing look a bit... off... to you?” Sachie asks as they pull in a fox with bright orange fur and multiple tails, and about the size of a horse. Though... the thing looks rather scared, locked up in a cage.

“And now, ladies and gentlemen, our newest attraction! This beast was found in a dark and sinister forest not too long ago, rumored to be attacking people!” the ringleader of the circus declares. “But we have tamed the beast, and now it has quite the little routine with us! Observe!”

The cage opens, and cautiously the fox steps out. A crack of the ringleader’s whip hurries it along, and the fox bites at where it heard the whip, but another crack gets it to cower away. It IS scared. It’s led along to a set of rings, forced to jump through them. You almost stand up as you notice it let out a quiet whine, but then you sense something. Up above, a Ki signature makes itself known. You sit back down and look at where you sense that.

“Target located, my Lady.” you make out as you see a frog dressed in ninja gear comment. “We will commence rescue shortly. Show is almost over.”

Quietly, you ask Sachie, “You see this, right?”

“Noticed ‘em when we entered, just thought he was not paying for a ticket.” she responds. “But... that...” Her eyes lock on to the fox. “That isn’t right.”

“What do you wanna do?”

“I mean, I wanna jump down there right now, kick that guy in the face, and run off the poor thing, buuut that tends to cause more problems than it solves. Lesson learned already.” She looks at the frog ninja again, then back down at the fox. “...I say we play dumb, but watch what they’re doing. Maybe we can find what the guy’s up to. That poor thing... something feels off about it.”

You watch as it gets ordered around some more. The fox then starts to run around in a circle, moving faster and faster... some ghostly embers emitting from its body. You sense... a strange Ki coming from it. Wait... this thing... what is it? ...One way to find out. You telepathically contact it. ‘Do you need help?’

‘...please... home...’ Its mind seems to ask of you weakly. “Voice” is... strange, but you can tell it’s rather young. Ki feels oddly familiar.

‘You’ll be okay. We’ll get you home. Help is coming soon.’ you tell the fox reassuringly. You notice the frog ninja has hidden himself again. Huh. But he raised his Ki before... wait. Was he trying to get your attention?

Once the act is over, the crowds begin to disperse, and you and Sachie have a chance to sneak around the place. You both keep your Ki low, doing your best to track where the ringleader is trying to keep the fox. You see him back in the cage he was in, being hauled off into a more secure building.

You spot a brief blur of blue and black dash behind the building. Guessing it’s the ninja. Well, seems he’s got a plan. Hmm... sensing around some more, you notice there’s a curious other couple things moving around. Very, very unusually low Ki signatures. Maybe more ninja? ...Wait. There’s something else, something... strangely sinister lurking in the distance.

“Well Sachie, what should we do?” you ask. “They could be trying to get us to help, without being open about it. But we can’t just leave the poor thing alone.”

She rubs her chin. “Hmm... I do have a few things I’ve been meaning to try out. Izzy, up for setting up a bit of a distraction?”

With a grin, you tell her, “Absolutely! Lead the way, Sachie!”

“First, disguises. Think you’ve got that covered?” she asks.

You nod, and Clothes Beam up some inconspicuous ninja gear for the both of you, basing it on the stuff Yurin’s ninja wear. “It fit?”

She pats herself down, then almost cheers. “Pockets! Oh pockets I missed you!” Sachie then cracks her knuckles and places her hands together, focusing her Ki. She then leaps high into the air, and you see something shiny in her hands as she lands on the roof of the building they’re keeping the fox in. Sachie looks around, spotting some of the guards of the place on a smoke break. She throws a... tiny dart to the ground behind one of them, with a line of string tied to her finger. You sense her give a jolt of Ki through the string and into the dart... and it causes the dart to bolt out of the ground.

And into the... guard’s butt.

“GYYYAAAAHHH!” he yells out, leaping up. “AGH! SOMETHIN’ BIT ME! SOMETHIN’ BIT ME!”

The other guard looks around and tries not to laugh at him. “Tch, looks like a punk kid just lost... this!” He pulls the dart out, the first guard letting out another yell.

Sachie looks to you and points to her head, inviting you to read her mind. ‘Izzy, on my signal, toss out a net or something to hold them in place.’

‘Okay. That was... an interesting trick.’

‘As dad always says, a proper ninja is prepared for every situation.’ She grabs a number of small orbs from her pockets as other guards come out to see what the commotion is. ‘On three. One... two... THREE!’ And she stands, spinning her body, scattering smoke bombs all over.

Sensing where the guards are, you toss out a net with your Clothes Beam and get them all tied up. The commotion becomes a panic, both of you heading to the door. Another guard steps out of it, you and Sachie flanking either side, with you keeping it open right as the guard runs through. Sachie tosses more smoke bombs in, and you hear people trying to reach for firearms.

You and Sachie leap inside, voices telling the both of you not to move. You let out a Kiai that knocks the remaining guards down. Before anyone knows what’s going on, the two of you have already made off with the oversized fox. Bringing it into the forested area outside the circus tents, you notice the guards finally start to clear away the smoke... only for help to come to ensure they don’t follow. “SOLAR FLARE!” the frog ninja croaks.

You look to the commotion for a moment, deciding to wait on the frog ninja. As you do, you kneel down by the fox. It seems... scared, weak, and like it’s expecting something worse to happen. You smile kindly. “You’re safe. It’s okay. We’ll get you out of here.”

‘Not... not safe... need... home... please...’ it pleads with you. You notice the fox wince slightly, it trying to back into the corner of its cage.

“...It’s hurt.” Sachie comments. “Look there, in the neck. It’s a little tracking device or... something.”

You notice there is indeed something odd in the fox’s neck, a little silver... tag, you guess? More like... some kind of oversized staple, embedded in the fox’s skin. And it seems to be flashing a tiny red light. How awful. A figure lands near you and Sachie. You turn your head and smile. “Well, tell me, not bad, or not bad?”

“Thank you for your cooperation.” He gives you a polite bow. “We will be taking it from here.”

The fox... begins to panic, squirming and scratching at its cage weakly as it sees the frog. It lets out some hisses and growls and yaps. Sachie moves to it defensively. “Take it where, exactly?”

“To its home?” you ask.

“Soon. First we need to help it. It’s been bound here.” the frog explains.

“...Bound?” you and Sachie repeat together.

He tilts his head. “Do you not sense it? This being is not from this world. It is a demon.” Yelling from the circus grows louder. You can feel others approaching. “Look, there is not much time. We need to go. Now.”

You look back at the fox with sympathetic eyes, then to the frog ninja and nod. And you show you’re trusting him, you pick up the fox’s cage. “Then let’s get going. Sachie, you want a ride?”

She hops up onto the top of the cage, staring down at the fox and telling it reassuringly. “Don’t worry. You’ll be safe now.” Doesn’t completely calm it down, but does get it a bit less worried.

The three of you finally head off, the frog man leading the two of you into the mountains. You slow down slightly once you’re sure the coast is clear. “So. Mind telling me what exactly is going on?”

“We are attempting to rescue this young, confused demon, are we not?” he asks.

“You clearly know more than we do. Mind giving us SOMETHING to go on?” Sachie questions, pointing at her eyes and then pointing at the frog. “Don’t think I’m not on to your tricks. Dad trained me pretty well...” She then mumbles under her breath, “WhenIactuallystartedpayingattention...”

“We’ve been trying to get this thing back for some time now. It seems to have escaped from the Demon Realm, and was drawn to our forest near Yahhoy. It ended up captured by that fool but a couple days ago.”

“Were they the ones who stuck it with this tracking device thing?” Sachie asks.

“No. We do not believe that it a tracking device, either. Something about it... did not feel right.” He looks to you both. “Can you not sense it? The device... has some sinister aura to it.”

You look up, staring at the bottom of the cage. Trying to communicate with the fox one more time, you hear it say... ‘Hurt... machine hurt... need... home...’

You fly for quite some time, the frog ninja finally leading you to Yahhoy. Along the way, though, you try to get some more details out of him. Does seem like they have good intentions with all this, but there is hesitation in his words. Sachie starts to get frustrated with him. “Ugh. Look, can you just... you know, tell us what it needs so it’ll stop hurting?”

“We believe the object embedded in it is cursed somehow. Nullify it, and then sending it back.”

“How’d you fail to capture it before that guy did, anyway?” you ask, finally arriving near the outskirts of their forest.

“Its power seems to have weakened, perhaps as a result of that object.”

You and Sachie look inside the cage again. It shivers and lets out a soft whine. Seems rather exhausted, too.

As he motions for you and Sachie to bring the fox into the forest with him, a fog settling in as you move. You still march forward, but with caution. Taking a moment, you try to ask the fox how it came to Earth. What you get is... not very pleasant.

‘Metal... demons... army gathering... want more soldiers... can’t fight... won’t fight... had to run... want... want to go home...’

“You poor thing...” you breathe out. You quickly let Sachie know what you got from it.

“...Metal demons?” she repeats. “Weird.”

“Hey, frog guy, can you tell us what, exactly, you plan to do to help this poor thing?” you ask.

“We shall work to block the flow of sinister energy coming from that cursed object. From there, we will remove it and then send the demon back to the realm it came from.”

“How do you know it’ll work?” Sachie asks, her eyes narrowing.

“In spite of what happened with Hirudegarn, we have learned our lessons in dealing with such things. Our Lady has some improvements she has made to deal with situations like this one.”

“...Why not ask one of us for help? Mom could come down here herself and break its curse, you know.”

“Yes. And potentially do damage to the demon itself.” He looks forward, bringing a piece of paper out and holding it forward as you move through the fog. A soft glow comes from it. “...And you should be aware that in spite of our agreement to not get in each other’s way, our methods still do not sit well with those of your group.”

“You did mention something about Gohan getting in a bit of trouble over all of this.” Sachie whispers. She keeps her focus on the frog, moving closer to the fox’s cage. You see the fortress up ahead. “Not sure I like this. Especially since it sounds like just... you know, using a curse against another curse.”

While worried... mom tells you she trusts you, and that she’ll be heading to Baba’s to help out, trying to see what they can do about this. Whew. Okay. You reach the fortress. Sensing around it feels rather empty... save for two people. Tapion and Minotia, up ahead, in Yurin’s office. The frog ninja directs you to move the fox to an area to your left.

You sense Tapion and Minotia starting to leave, Yurin with them.

“Oh. Oh it’s y-AHG!” Yurin, distracted by your approach, trips and falls due to a misaligned and shaky stone, faceplanting. She groans at the ground, Minotia walking over to help her up.

“...I did hope to see you once more before we leave.” he says with a kind smile. “We... will be heading off to our home planet shortly.”

“...And what’ll you do once you get home?” you ask hesitantly.

“Our... world has probably been through many changes in the time since Hirudegarn was sealed. But we still wish to make sure they know that the monster has been slain. After that...” Tapion closes his eyes. “...We are not entirely sure. Minotia and I still have much to do to reconnect with our world.” His eyes open and he smiles again. “...But I do hope we will meet again some day.” Tapion then brings down his sword. “Also. Izumi. I would like you to keep this. You have shown you’re capable of wielding it like a true hero. The Sword of Braves will do well in your hands.”

Your eyes start to water.

He places his hand on your shoulder. “I know you will.”

Doing your best not to start crying right then and there, you give Tapion a quick hug. When you let go, you notice Minotia looking up at his brother with... a very, very devious smirk. One you swear you’ve seen on aunt Maple’s face before. Minotia nudges Tapion in the side, slyly commenting, “Don’t keep this princess waiting, bro.”

“Minotia, you are one to talk.” Tapion responds with a quick laugh.

Yurin coughs. “W-well! Again, I thank you for giving us those last few pointers, and for all your help. We hope your travels are safe, and remember that should you ever need it, we’ll be willing to help you, great Warrior.”

“Oh! Tapion, one more thing...” You bring your own sword out. “While I promise to take good care of yours, here. Something to help you, should you need it.”

He looks down at your blade, then nods, taking it with a smile. “I shall take good care of it as well.”

With Tapion and Minotia gone, Yurin then turns her attention over to you. “...Sssso. You and that... other ninja are willing to assist us?”

“We want to help the fox demon, yes. But sounds like there are some issues with this.”

Yurin starts to walk in the direction of the fox. “It is something we should be able to handle on our own. It is merely a matter of figuring out how to block the cursed object’s influence on it.”

“Hmm...”

You get in contact with mom. Seems she’s down at Baba’s already. ‘So, got any ideas on how to help?’

‘Well... some. But looks like things in the Demon Realm haven’t been all that quiet recently. Baba’s looking up some things on fox spirits, and Spike’s offered to head down there to retrieve something. We’ll tell you when we find something.’

‘Please hurry.’ Looking at Yurin, you tell her, “The fox is getting weaker. We don’t have much room for error. We should try to find the best method to help it, together.”

“So you have an idea already?” Yurin asks curiously.

“We do have the best fortuneteller on the planet helping us already. So, let’s make sure we know the method that’d work the best.”

“Fine. But as you say, we’re running low on time.” She brings a talisman out. The two of you notice Sachie has opened up the cage and is sitting by the fox. While still weak, it seems it’s... a bit calmer as she talks to it.

“I have met a few curious little fox people before, but none quite like you. What’s your name, anyway?” she asks.

Weakly, the fox moves its mouth and... actually talks. “U... don...”

“Udon? Heh, nice name. I’m Sachie.” She brings out a cup of noodles from a Capsule. “Can you eat human food?”

“I’d recommend against that.” Yurin tells her. She moves into the cage, looking over the cursed object. “...Wait. This is unusual.” she comments.

Oh you don’t like the sound of that. “Unusual how?”

“...It’s got something other than just a curse on it. Something... else.” You see her make some kind of... marks on her talisman, then she... seems to put more of her Ki into it? Yurin places the talisman on the tiny metal object.

The demon winces. But... you sense its Ki start to rise! It’s out of danger. For now, at least. “How’d you do that?” you ask Yurin.

You notice her holding her hands together. Seems she’s... sharing her Ki with it through the talisman? “Mhh... this power is not what I was expecting... what did-?”

A sudden jolt of power can be felt through the whole area. The talisman on the demon... begins to gain a silvery sheen. The fox stands, but not of its own accord. And its Ki keeps rising. Yurin seems to flinch. The demon’s body jerks, its head turning in the direction of you, Sachie, and Yurin.

You bring out the Spirit Bits, but before you can use them to form a barrier around yourself... the demon fox actually leaps at the spheres of Ki instead! It slashes at each one with its claws and snaps at them with its fangs, the body still jerking around unnaturally as it corners you. Fangs barred, it attempts to bite down at you, but timing things just right, you bring up the Hero’s Barrier and cause it to be smacked away. “We need to get it out of here, out of the forest!” you call out.

“RUUUUUNNNN!” it yells again, the talisman gaining a sinister aura around the silvery sheen on it. Its body... seems to bulk up slightly.

“We’re not leaving you!” Sachie calls out to it, trying to run towards it, only for it to dash past her and smack her down with one of its tails.

“SACHIE!” you yell out, leaping to her aid as you block its attack with your barrier again.

Yurin brings out another Talisman, leaping away with her fellow ninja. The fox chases after them, leaving you and Sachie a moment to breathe. “Sachie! Sachie are you okay?”

“Not... the worst fall I’ve taken. Ooogh...” She rubs her head as she sits up. She then checks her hands. “...Aaaand goodbye those manicured nails.” she laments, frowning as one of them is chipped slightly.

“Come on, let’s get you up...”

“Mhh... Izzy, can you spare me like, five minutes? I have an idea I’ve been wanting to try out...” She brings out a cup of instant ramen... and then another, and another, and several more. “Five minutes.”

“All right Sachie, I’ll get you those five minutes.” You ready yourself, then take off, bolting into the air. You contact mom and update her on the situation. ‘So the good news is that the fox’s condition... sort of stabilized. The bad news is something is VERY wrong with it, the cursed object in its skin seems to have taken control of Yurin’s Talisman.’

‘Ugh, again with those things... Izzy, you be careful out there. Baba and I have something that might work, but we’re waiting on Spike to get back. I’ll be there shortly.’

Your aura sparks up around you as you use the Raio-ken to join up with everyone, seeing the fox has left the forest, at least, but it seems like the fox demon has grown even larger... and you notice this strange, silvery sheen in its fur, ghostly flames emmanating from its body. Looks like Yurin’s ninja are setting up small traps for it, slowing it down slightly and trying to bind it.

You get right in front of it and bring your hands to your face, mixing it in with a bit of Light Magic, yelling out, “SOLAR... FLARE!”

“RRAAAAAAOOOOOWW!” the fox demon roars in anguish. But as it does, it swipes down at you, knocking you into a cliff.

You push yourself off, shaking your head. Ow. Okay, focus here, Izzy. The demon’s rubbing its eyes, still in pain... hmm. You can see the talisman. Okay, idea! “PHOTON RAY!” Direct hit! ...and looks like you managed to scrape some of that silvery substance away! But... then it regenerates, covering it up again. Still, you have something! “YURIN! THE TALISMAN! Whatever cursed substance is there, it’s trying to take control of your Talisman! But you can blast it away, at least keep it at bay! Have everyone aim for it!”

The demon swipes at where it hears your voice, eyes still blinded, but you manage to get out of the way. A barrage of Dodonpas hit the talisman, one after the other, but all it manages to do is hold it in place. Mmmhh... you can feel the magic around the substance covering the Talisman waver. Something about it feels... like it’s not in complete control. Maybe it’s stuggling to hold on to the fox and the paper at the same time?

>A. All right, let’s try to counter Magic with Magic! Load up the Spirit Bits with a different type of Magic!

You let your aura surge up around you. Okay, here goes! “RAIO... TEN!” Sparking and blazing purple, you then bring out your Spirit Bits once more, enhancing each one with a different Magic, then set them loose against the demon fox!

...

And the fox chomps down on one of them, the one you enhanced with Shadow magic, before it can get to the talisman. Swallowing it and... growing in strength substantially. Oh. Oh crap. You manage to get a few of them to strike the Talisman, but it’s not enough to make up for the boost the demon fox got in its power. Energy builds up around it, and with a howl it lets out an explosive wave that knocks Yurin and the ninja back, catching you right as you get one more solid hit on it.

You’re thrown to the ground and you notice your body... feels heavy. Agh... hard to stand. Wait... this feels like... the Gravity Bind? Did it absorb the Shadow Magic and release it right back out? Rgghhh... looks like it’s exhausted the Talisman some, the fox isn’t moving as much. “R-rr... rruunn...” it tries to tell you.

“I’m... not... running...” you reply to it, forcing yourself to stand even as you feel your whole body pulled down.

Just then, you see mom appear alongside Lapis. “We just in time?” he asks.

“Izzy!” she almost leaps to your aid, placing her hands on you and healing you up. Whew, okay, heavy feeling gone. “Izzy are you okay baby? Oh don’t worry, I’m here, m-”

“Mom, mom, please.” You brush your hair away.

“Heads up!” Lapis yells, the paw of the demon fox swiping down at you all. The three of you manage to get away, but Lapis ends up flung away by one of its tails.

“Please tell me you’ve got what you need.” you ask mom.

Chi-chi pulls out a small scroll of some sort, made entirely of black parchment. One that feels like it has a substantial amount of magical energy packed into it. “We need to get this onto that cursed object. But don’t touch it with your bare hands.” You notice mom also has a pair of gloves on. “We need something, though... some way of getting an opening.”

But all of them feel stronger than usual. “OVER HERE!” You notice the group of them start to encircle the fox demon, with one more heading up to you and mom. She cracks her knuckles. “Hey Izzy. Hi again Mrs. Chi-chi. Thanks for stalling. We got a plan on how to handle this? Because I’ve got... maybe a minute tops left.”

You Clothes Beam on some gloves for yourself and Sachie. “Got it. Ready?”

“Ready! UDON! We’re gonna save you, hang tight!” she, and a bunch of the copies of her, all call out. You sense it start to build up energy around its mouth. Now or never! With Sachie holding on to your shoulder, the two of you leap into the air and you bolt at it, the speed of the Raio-Ten allowing you to get right past it as the horde of her copies dash around it. A swipe of its paw causes some of them to vanish. And... you feel Sachie’s Ki increase slightly. Another swipe, and another, slashes from its tail, until all are gone. Her Ki has increased substantially now, almost as high as yours was before transforming.

Noticing you and Sachie headed towards it, the fox opens its mouth... a giant sphere of Ki about to be launch right at you. Agh... if you keep heading forward it’s gonna connect, but if you move out of the way it might just attack again...!

“SAMMA VACA!” mom calls out. That drops its energy, enough to be manageable, but it could still hurt Sachie if it connects...

...

Here goes nothing. You push the scroll into Sachie’s hands. “Up to you!”

“Wait, Izzy-!”

You get her in your arms and launch her forward, right at the Talisman, as you use your body to shield her. The demon fox’s attack hits you and sends you crashing into the forest. Dazed, you barely manage to see as Sachie slams the scroll on top of Yurin’s Talisman. A dark blast of energy escapes from it, pitch-black sparks shooting out. The demon yells out in pain... but its body begins to shrink. You see Sachie holding on to it tight, the demon finally collapsing onto the ground.

It lets out one final howl of pain... as something snaps right off. A swirling mass of silvery fluid, locked up in opaque, darkened sphere. It falls the the ground, but is completely trapped in the dark orb. Slowly, the demon fox gets up, and shakes its body like it just got out of the water, a flash of flame coursing from head to tails as it does that. Some silvery dust on its fur seem to get burned off from the ghostly fire, turning into ash.

Sachie stands beside it, the fox demon back to about the size it was when the two of you rescued it. It sits down, bowing its head. “I am... in your debt...”

She rubs her nose and smiles cheekily. “Not a problem, Udon.” Sachie then clutches her stomach. “Ooogh. Okay, major... major drawback to that plan I had.” Sachie looks to Yurin, her and the rest of her ninja finally able to stand again. “...Your fortress wouldn’t happen to have a bathroom close by, would it?”

I’ll be doing that once this is all over.” mom adds in. “It’s apparently a weapon they’ve heard rumor about, but haven’t seen in action until just now. The scroll we got was designed to capture it, luring it away from its intended host and trapping it.”

“Something DID feel off about it.” Yurin comments. “Like it wasn’t normal, compared to what we have prepared for. I guess it is just one more thing we need to be vigilant over.” She sighs deeply.

The fox turns its head, looking Sachie in the eyes. “I still need to return home. Trying to fend off that... infection took its toll on my body. But I owe all of you for saving me. You especially, Sachie Momochi.” The demon raises its paw. “I wish to give you something. A pact to signify your deed. Share with you a bit of my strength, for you to call on in your hour of need.”

“Oh, wow, really?” She rubs the back of her neck. “Are you sure?” It nods. Sachie glances at you. “I mean... Izzy helped out here too, you know.”

The demon fox looks to you as well.

“Thank you again.” The fox then moves to Chi-chi and Lapis. “I am ready to return home.”

“Aw...” Sachie looks at him sympathetically. “Hope it goes well.”

“Bye Udon, take care! Call for us if you ever need help again!”

The fox bows its head. Mom looks to you. “Izzy, you and Sachie stay out of trouble now. Dinner’s in a while, don’t wanna miss it.”

“Gotcha mom, see you at home!”

And so they leave. You and Sachie are about to head off, when Yurin calls your attention. “That was the Multi-Form technique you used, wasn’t it?” she questions. “So how did you end up stronger with it? That technique is supposed to divide your power by however many clones you make. But... you seemed stronger than you are now with it.”

“Momochi clan secret!” Sachie replies, accidentally knocking over an empty cup of instant ramen. “Oh, and sorry about the mess!”

You decide to exchange the Hero’s Barrier, Tapion’s skill, for Sachie’s take on the Multi-Form, the pair of you heading for a more discrete location further away from Yahhoy to train. You find out that Sachie, in spite of her rather laid back attitude, does have quite the drive to improve herself once she sees an attainable goal. She picks up the technique rather well, in part thanks to your instructions on how to preform it. She wasn’t able to learn any of the enhanced variations, but give it time and you’re sure she’ll be able to do something unique with it.

You meanwhile pick up the Multi-Form with relative ease, once Sachie explains how she manages it. It’s simple in concept, but actually maintaining it requires sharp focus and a good amount of Ki control. You also see a few other useful things you can do with it; since your mind is still connected with every copy you make, information is shared between them all, so you could technically use them to learn a couple different things at once, though Sachie warns that once the copies disappear, you might not retain everything you got unless you really focus on it. Still, something to consider.

After this bit of training, you bring up the idea of just showing Sachie how to fly, free of charge. You start off by having Sachie consider what she knows about using Ki to enhance her movement. “Oh! Well, I have learned a few neat tricks already, like this...” She moves towards a tree, placing her foot on its trunk, and then dashes up it, until she reaches a branch, hanging upside down from it like a bat. “Pretty handy thing. Just kinda sticking to a surface using your energy.”

“Does seem like something that could get you knocked off easily, though.” you comment. “Like, if I shoot that branch out, you’d probably fall and land on your head.”

“...Thaaaat’s true. It’s why you gotta be stealthy about it.” she replies, rubbing the back of her neck. “Apparently dad and grandpa have both used this technique in the past to even run across water.”

You float upward. “Buuuut why run, when you can flyyyyy?” you ask with a cheeky grin. “Seems you’re focusing your Ki around your feet with this. Flying’s a little different, instead, focus it around your stomach, then start pushing energy away from you in the direction you want. Let a bit through your arms and legs to help steer, but the focus of flight should be around your center of mass.”

“Center of mass... center of mass...” Sachie stands up straight on the branch, doing what you’ve explained... and she lifts up slightly from the branch. “Hey... hey I think... I think I’m getting it! Haha!” She starts to float upward, boundless joy on her face. “Izzy! Look! Haha, I’m doing it!”

“That you are.” you tell her proudly. She yells out excitedly as she flies into the air.

“Tiny. Goats.” you start with a devious giggle. “Tiny cloth goats, each one filled with... aha! Glitter! Ooh, ooh, and they’ll lead up to-”

“A giant one?!” Sachie finishes your sentence, glee on her face.

“Exactly! And all the goats will be hidden thanks to Multi-Form!”

You both laugh like a couple of dorks as you fly off to enact the plan. It’s mostly harmless. But it’s going to send a message to Princess Misa. One she surely won’t forget. You and Sachie get to work, with you Clothes Beaming up several small cloth goats, each one set to go off when discovered, and start hiding them, you and Sachie using the Multi-Form to cover as many areas as you can, setting a trail that winds through Misa’s castle, into the town, and finally off near the hills outside town, where the largest of the goats stands.

And all while not being caught. Sachie’s ninja skills certainly came in handy here, helping you stay out of sight, while also finding the absolute best hiding spots for all of the goats. Just enough that they’d be visible if you’re looking for them, but not obvious if you’re going about your business like normal. Ensuring that it’s Misa who ends up tracking these down.

A good... about 30 minutes after you two finished, you and Sachie watch from afar, the two of you hiding in a forested area some distance away from the final goat, as finally, finally, Princess Misa, and a few other people, all covered in glitter, finally catch sight of it. You see one of the people with her a butler it seems, warns her not to approach, but she seems too peeved... oh hey is that a torch in her hand? Oh, Misa, Misa, Misa... She attempts to fling the torch at it. You fire a very, very weak Ki blast with a bit of Ice Magic mixed in with it to put the torch out. And... well.

BAF.

The final trap is sprung. A blast of glitter covers the field, and most importantly, Misa. Her entire front half looks like she’s half-disco ball. Princess Misa throws her hands up into the air. “OF COURSE, YOU REALIZE! THIS! MEANS! WAR!”

You and Sachie high-five. A job well done.
