/qst/ - Quests

The rest of The Tallspire Cave Complex remains. Patrols, wards, guards, embedded defensive positions.

All hewn from the rock with one singular purpose: to layer perimeter defences around the heart of this facility.

Something broken lurks in the heart of this place. The Tallspire casts deep shadows that seem darker than shadows could be, the light bends, laughter from unseen sources flow through the caverns.

And from the the dark to the deeper caves, a hundred eyes stare out.

Trenchers takes place in a loosely connected universe. You may have seen some threads before - they are not required reading.

What's happening here?

You, yes you, take the boots and bullets of in a magitech showdown between warring states, trying to accomplish your missions while avoiding gods, death cults, machinations, machines and the weird shadow creatures that want to eat the sun. It's a hard life in the Trencher Corps, but at the end of the day, you'll die a hero! Or. Or just die. That's pretty likely.

The system is 3d6 roll under. Lower is better for you. To roll dice, type dice+3d6 in the options field. You want a group of 3d6 for every discrete action you take. Firing at two targets? Roll 6d6. If you're a Coordinator, then one order is an action. If you're a Trencher or a Pilot or something else, it'll be a bit different.

It helps to list your stats and what you are trying to do!

>Fire at the hostile pathfinders by that rock (12 Acc)

The system is modular and flexible. If you want to TRY TO DO SOMETHING, maybe you're just the sort of badass who can pull it off. List the stat doing the work, because it REALLY DOES MATTER.

>Shove this guy into a pit (4 Grit)

Actions consume 1 AP or whichever is listed. It's best to consider that nothing here is ever /free/ unless you're very lucky.

In case you want some more reading, there's now a Field Manual that covers things.

As either Trenchers or Coordinators, your task is to be the boots on the ground and the pinpoint source of violence in the storm.

Trenchers benefit from specialised training and a . . . unique . . . talent that allows a lateral approach to hostile situations.

Coordinators have a direct line to Command and benefit from being surrounded by a squad of loyal(?) competent(??) troopers. You might not be good at magic or have benefited from the gruelling Advanced Urban Assault Course command offers to people who think a six on one fight is a nice warmup, but you do have a radio-link to the artillery section and a dedicated off-map support group. So you've got that going for you, which is nice?

As a Pilot, your job is to draw enemy fire, be a forward scout and rallying point and to apply heavy munitions to soft targets.

Piloting takes a bit of a deft touch because these old chassis are not the easiest of equipment to manage. If you can make them dance, you can outfight entire fireteams and run circles around the heavier Pytherii vehicles. If you can't then you will soon find yourself on foot, running from a wrecked vehicle, avoiding gunfire.

If you're keen to strap yourself into what R&D describes as a "walking explosives accident waiting to happen", you may attempt to utilise our new Weapons, Exploration & Bombardment units. R&D told me to tell you in the briefing that if the little red light in the upper half of the cockpit starts blinking, hit the ejector seat.

It should be noted that all Infantry carry Multi-Tools, which can be used to repair superficial structural damage to your vehicle. Your armaments can be used to inflict structural damage to the enemy. It's a symbiotic relationship.

Note that the hookshot - like all actions with no listed cost - consume 1 AP. You will need to reel it back in after use (1 AP).

When everything is going wrong and the world is buckling at the seams, you can usually blame local resonance specialists. Your job as a thaumatheurgical operative is to deflect, defray or destroy hostile thaumatheurgical operations and work your own.

Your Channeling Array allows you to attune to local elements and wield them, while long study of odder things might allow you to speak the Old Words. And that... has some benefits.

You either manipulate elements around you, or get tricky. It should be noted that if you just want to "harm" someone, the best magical device to learn to use is the wonderful invention called a gun. Simply trying to harm or kill people by hitting them with lots of force is usually going to get you bad return on investment. Bullets work better. Magic is a subtle kind of thing.

But if you want to bend a rock to your will to turn it into a prowling wolf with obsidian claws and granite blood to sent it hunting against those that would harm you, well, for that kind of thing a gun just won't cut it.

The ritual performed by the Officious Theurge has gone brutally, inhumanely right. Boiling from the shadows, Nightgaunts come at our barricades to suck the light from our bones.

The Pytherian facility lies just beyond it. Our best joy in this travesty is the assurance that they too must be contending with these monsters.

If we can punch through them, we can continue with the mission.

It's like that occasionally. Don't worry too much about it.

Think of this as a wargame, where various people play units on the map and work together to achieve objectives. There's a fair bit of story and some exploration and some mild mystery and on top of that, a few screaming fits of demonfire.

You pick a unit type, deploy, and then take actions when its player turn.

That's it.

I came to my conclusion on movement as inviolate because one of the gaunts flew about 8 tiles, which seemed to indicate a collision, not a leap. A collision in mind, I noted that the targeted gaunt had gone the full 10 Move I'd put into it. Therefore, movement inviolate. But if it isn't so, it isn't so.

--

Since I've made the mistake of trying to move a target from outside my range, and the smart-process doesn't seem to have changed anything, is it all right if I proceed as though I hadn't spent 4foc on my mistaken action?
>>
>>3681792
The Hookshot has a maximal listed range of 10, the wire simply can't go any further (and even that's pushing it).

The MG ( and all other things ) fire as far as yo u want them, with the caveat that increasing range increase penalties. It's pretty dark here at present what with the Shadow monsters, so currently every 2 hexes is -1 to acc. That can be overcome with aiming (+1 AP is +1 Skill) or Lights.

Take 1 AP action to leech 1 HT from all living things in GRIT range. Works once per target.
Convert 1 HT to 1d3 Animant Fire, manifest at any point in GRIT range.

"Waaaaaaarrrrrrppppppp"

You can exist simultaneously at all points within THIRD of your FOCUS. The reason is probably quantum.
Spend 1 AP to make a point within space your current location (it’s best if you can see it, otherwise, roll ACC)
1 AP to touch an object and roll Accuracy(penalties for size) to store it . . . somewhere. Spend 2 AP to release it at some point within the area.

>All essential characteristics of stored objects are preserved. If you go about storing bullets being fired at you, Command recommends you note which trajectory you want them to come out as, because otherwise, you WILL shoot yourself by accident.

>NOTE PEOPLE CAN TRY TO AVOID YOUR HANDS. IF YOU LAND ON AN EAGLE GUARD AND EXPECT HIM TO JUST DISAPPEAR, YOU ARE ALSO GOING TO DIE REALLY QUICKLY.

How does [SL] on Ciw-82 work?
>>
>>3683368
(I'm going to take this opportunity to ask a million questions. Okay? Okay. Do gaunts count as living beings? Do summoned entities, such as an elemental, count as alive? If not, what if they're made of organized organic matter? What exactly do you mean when you say leech only works once per target? Can I only leech from any given entity once ever, or once per turn, or something else? Is there a maximum number of animant fire husks I can control at once? How much control can I exert over these husks? Absolute control? Partial control?)
>>
>>3683407
We don't know.
We don't know.
We don't know.

Leeching works once per target per turn. You cannot (currently) spend 12 AP to hit the same living being for 12 HT damage. You can "Absorb" multiple times, but you can only absorb from any given living being once per turn.

A maximum number of animants? We don't know

How much you control them? Not much. They stay within your field and take orders as any other ally with 1 AP in general.

>>3683389
It's a Smart Link, Trencher. You point it at someone and it does all the hard work for you! When you Aim, you get +1 to hit everything in an AoE. And it tags the targets so everyone benefits. If people are in heavy cover, you can aim your shot past that cover and reduce the cover by spending extra AP. This does not give you +to hit, though.
>>

> Grab FT Axlotl Leader

>>3683430
(Bonus round: Does the leeched HT transfer into my HT, or is it held in some separate pool of HT? How much HT could I convert into Animant fire at once? Is the amount limited by anything other than reducing my own HT to 0? Exactly how much Animant fire is required to revive a corpse. Does it depend on the corpse's size? What happens id you keep pouring Animant fire into an already resuscitated corpse?)

Dr. Vitae performs some emergency surgery and slaps Samson with enough painkiller to keep him medicated and semi-functional for a while. Trencher Groat pulls the man back to the fallback station at VA4.

Fireteam Badger open fire on the Pytherii Maniple, as their marksmen set up and mark the target.

Pilot Rick pours 20000 vanadian credits worth of munitions into the cavern walls while blaring alerts. If any troopers were asleep, they're on their feet now.

Trencher Gus grabs his gun and prepares to fight the Nightgaunts, but the bullet trajectories of Fireglass Munitions don't quite match the read-out and chaos ensues as some explode, some catch fire and one roars in delight as its essence is suffused with pure power.

Trencher Aurai watches as Samson is extracted, then shores up the defenses of the little surrounded VA1. IN doing so, he scavenges some SUPPLIES from the former Pytherii Compound.

The Ghoul continues to rampage onwards, devouring scraps of Vanadian heroism as it comes, its buckling form twisting and bending with new raw power, dark veins pulsating with congealed shadow-stuff.

Fireteam Badger takes a spray of MG fire from a Support Sigilcraft, but the heavy defenses absrb it and Dr. Vitae's healing field help the single trooper who suffered a burst of fragmentation.

The Allied Hunter-Killer line up a shot but the Pathfinders deploy smoke and it goes just short. A return roar from the Pytherii camp dumps a shell close to fireteam Steel.

Fireteam Steel continues screaming for support. An Interdictor is deployed in response.

Dr. Vitae's proud golem rolls onwards, and encounters a trio of Nightgaunt blades. It is cut apart.

Trencher Gus dodges through space as a Nightcleaver swings a massive blade at his head.

Trencher Brishand is less lucky, torn apart for feeding scraps by ravenous maws

>>
>>3683889
Actually we should be able to work out roughly how many there are...
Each channeler has the Old Word for darkness and Channeler-12
Each channeler has 3AP plus two for being in the darkness
The darkness grows by ~200 points per turn
Assuming they work the same as resonance operatives and assuming more threshold just gives more effect from speaking old words:
One channeler can speak Tr'Drak, spend all of their AP to reach skill 17, +1-+6 from Swarming to reach skill 18-23. Resonating to reduce skill and boost effect, they can roll against 12 to summon 9-14 points of darkness 75% of the time.

That means, roughly, 17 nightgaunt channelers back there that we can't see. Assuming they aren't getting any help or cheating.

Trencher Aurai gets a face full of Nightgaunt sword as a pack of them charge the barricades. Some blows can be dodged, but the conditions are horrid for melee fighting. The veterans try their best, but the conditions aren't for it.

Trencher Gus dodges the first probing swipes and clears the jam in his gun. The follow-up takes him in the armor plate.

Trencher Groat rolls to the side of a crate that flies at mach 2 straight into the troopers behind Groat. The Interdictor rolls up and opens fire, along with the report of the Goblin Eyes position. The Ghoul laughs and takes a few steps back into the dark.

Pilot Rick smashed through a softened wall and fires at a the Support Sigilcraft - but the war-heads don't quite have enough time to lock on properly.

Pilot, you're doing excellent so far and handling the vehicle quite well.

TA has a few suggestions

The W-Launchers fire [Ap] x [d6]. If you spend 12 AP, you get 12d6. If you spend 1 Ap you get 1d6. This will leave you exposed, but a 12d6(10) missile will ruin anythings day. If you do not have time to get a proper lock, rely on the MGs and infantry support. Your weapons can also ARC if you are firing on a marked position. That's the beauty of artillery!

You can refund 1 Ammo, since you crashed through the wall rather than firing at it. You cannot lock on to bare naked rock. Sorry, Pilot, there's nothing there for the sensors to latch on to.

When you move, it's 1 AP/MP for 1 Hex or 1 Facing Change, not "AP gives you your entire move".
>>
>>3684611
>Question. Could I have Arc'ed over the walls instead of raming it to get a better shot?
>>
>>3684626
Presuming a Mark, yes, all you contend with is distance to hit penalties (ablated a bit by the Mark)

TRENCHER GUS IS DOWN. SOMEONE GET HIM OUT OF THE REACH OF THOSE GAUNT CLAWS

--

The Interdictor rolls up, all the weight of Vanadia behind it. Coordinator Kaine calls in the targets and the bullets fly. The advance of the Ghoul is finally halted and outmatched, it turns and runs back into the darkness it came from.

Fireteam Badger burst into a ragged cheer as a single pinpoint perfect shot does the impossible and blows through barricades, cover and smoke to clip a Theurge right in the chest. The shuddering mortar barrage that follows causes them to drop into their trench, huddling and so they miss the massive claws reaching from the dark to funnel the corpses and material at at the edge of the trench into is maw.

---

Pilot Rick starts to sweat in his cockpit as it heats UP.

--

Trencher Aurai gains a friend!. His new friend tears the throat out of a Nightgaunt just in time for Aurai to step back and dodge the swing of a Cleave-Gaunt, just in time for Fireteam Steel to pour fire into the dying and finish it.

>Don't micromanage Animants. They're Not That Smart. They follow you, and they defend you, and they take 1 general order such as "Kill all this" or "Hold this position" or "Get me that object". If you give more than one, they might get confused!

In the aftermath of the mortar strike and the exchange of fire, the smoke almost clears for but a moment. A ghoul is destroyed, a passage way near-collapsed, and a hardened cadre of Nightgaunts turned to so many smears.

And beyond them, weapon in hand, the Legion.

Your SysLink marks a 1 AOE area. Much like the CIW Smartlink.

You spend 1 AP to Mark. You roll vs Accuracy. You take full penalties. You spend 2 AP for +1 AoE.

You are attempting a lock-on when you Mark to give clear targetting coordinates to ordinance weapons, allied units and equipment. It is fully and completely a variant of an attack, and works just like one. You roll versus your Accuracy.

Once a target is Marked, the W-Launchers can engage fully and can strike the targeted location.

One given system/unit/thing can maintain one given mark at one given time.

TA.
TA?

TA this chart isn't real, is it. TA ARE YOU ONE OF THEM

Roll 3, 10
[Mindjack]
“ I’m me and you and ALL of US “

>Okay Trencher, this is going to get a bit freaky, but stay with me

Spend 3 AP. Pick a unit you have direct LOS to. Roll vs Focus. You try mindjack and become that unit.

You never change skills, or stats. HT resets to your maximal (less if target is wounded). Your new body might have capabilities your previous one did not or new knowledge, but even if you can now spit acid you always use your base stats. Any modification will be handled during the back-end.

Any jacked “previously you” target can be given a general order with 1 AP. Their skills and are awful. You can assume direct control of any You with 2 AP.

You can’t adequately maintain more than FOCUS/4 forms. If you exceed, they might wake up. Or they might not.

>Because this power involves a lot of "what is the AP cost to do this" and "how much does this weapon hurt" and a lot of "What are the stats of this unit", Command reminds you not to worry about it, and to assume that any action you want to try has a baseline AP cost of 1 AP.

>If you MUST know something, it is a 1 AP free action on your turn to query your current shape about its capabilities.
>>
>>3686807
"Their skills and self-awareness is awful and limited when not You"

>Command reminds you that things have a baseline of 1 AP, and uses your stats. Command will accommodate for form, so you don't have to break your brain second-guessing.

WIA means Wounded in action trencher.
And yes but no he was hurt to the point where he could not fight anymore and was going to bleed out unless someone with medical experience reached the poor boy.
Sadly a certain trencher sucked the remnants of his soul and removed any chance of that.
>>
>>3692527
That's quite allright, Trencher.

>>3692532
We update protocols upon visual confirmation of unit status. Most fallen Vanadians can be extracted to to a Field Station to ensure proper medical care. We have very good specialists, which will allow a roll versus resuscitation if we can recover our fallen and they are extracted in time.

Trencher Gus was out of sight of most units, and hit by a Nightsworn. This does not mean he could not be extracted and potentially rescued. Once his soul is eaten, the nature of the question is moot. There is nothing left.

It looks like Trencher Aurai scourged your essence from the fabric of reality and replaced your inner selves with a furnace of fire.

Please report for mandatory dismantling once the mission is over, Coordinator.

It seems you have become an Animant, sustained by the soul-stuff of the mass-surge Aurai channelled. We don't know how long it will last before the fire burns your consciousness out. Perhaps if you got your hands on some substrate to devour through you could perpetuate your own existence.

Well, at least you don't have to worry about bleeding any more. Or ever feeling cold.

[Colonel Gerean]

Touch and go there for a while, wasn't it? Theurges. I do not understand their kind. Dust yourselves off, catch a breath. Get some replacement campfires and lights going. All the others have blown out.

Good improvisation on an escalating situation.

Reminds me of one time I went to visit a farm in the Sereikanos highlands.

Guessing before Specialist Perotil corrects me, Trenchers, I would presume that Gallu and this "Officious Theurge" were linked. Seeing through each others eyes, bound together through the Icon near the waterfall, which was acting as an anchor for the exchange. Traded places and perspectives. Any place too near the Idols are always a little more in the Other than here. That's why the Theurge was there.

Good call aiming for their eyes, your quick thinking there saved lives. No perspective to share without them. And then no place, either. Now they're all... Wherever TrDrak pulled them.

We'll cordon off the area. Sweep it for scraps. Since it was absorbing all the firepower we were throwing at Gallu, we'll have to recover all the bullets and make sure we destroy them it.
>>

Of course we do. We haven't shut down the operation yet, just dealt with a rogue element. Maybe if I'd accepted the devil's bargin I would be the one in control of the swarm now. But I didn't, and I'm not. So we keep going.
Unless the facility is surrendering? I doubt it, what they sent out was just a maniple they will have more in reserve,
>>
High Command will want clarification, briefings and some after action report. The Pytherii are hunkering down to prepare their defences.

>>3696903
And the hardest part remains.

We'll get it done.

>As usual, all (unexpected) survivors gain one point to increase a stat or a skill with it. No, AP and Threshold are right out. Don't even try, trooper.
>As a special hard-case nightmare mode bonus, get one more point to put into a different skill or stat.

>[After Action Actions] are now accepted. Ask questions, form queries, raise conundrums, research, clean your gear, do some training. Write those damn reports. Your unit may engage in 1 special tasked activity, rolling a skill or stat of your choice to attempt some longer scale project. People may pile in to help, adding +2 to the skill TN. Naturally now you're all in it together...

>That's research, report writing, investigation, development, talent practice, advanced order learninig. AAAs spent trying to raise your stats or your skills result in you shooting yourself in the foot with a shotgun. So what can you actually do? Maybe you want to practice some takedown moves? Drill the troopers on close order fire? Find out a way to get into melee range faster? Tinker with a tank? Work on some fire support options? Do some scouting? Think Command absolutely needs to know the blueprints for your flamethrower-glued-on-a-sniper weapon? Maybe you want to gather up the shattered stone of the Idol of TrDrak and the spent bullets, then mix them all together, grind them up real, real fine, and snort the metareal byproduct just to see what happens? Maybe you'd like to follow these nice HazoCommandos over to the private room they have prepared, one of those new ones were all the locks are on the outside and you never have to worry about seeing the sun and answer all their questions about the previous hypothetical??

"You misunderstand, the purpose of these exercises is to improve the overall fitness of our troopers, their ability to operate effectively under fire and to incentivize them to keep their commanding officers alive. (Also, personal catharsis.) Besides, it's not as though we're firing live rounds at them."

{FLAVOR TEXT}
Kaine was shaken from this experience. All the men under his command had died fighting things he never even thought to have existed. But, these things were summoned by the enemy, and this fact fueled his hatred even further. Only one member, a man who had jumped from the bridge from Fireteam Cat, had survived, but he would commit suicide later that week. Kaine would not let this happen again. Those bastards would pay, for everything.

"Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel them, the men I lost, my friends and comrades, Won't stop hurting, like they're all still there. I'm gonna make them pay, give back our land. I swear, I'll make it through this, for them if nothing else."

Quite a few. The ones that are in one piece, at least, and those with wounds that quick thinking can help.

It's called blindfiring. You can in fact do it. There are caters to prove it. The missiles likely won't make it anywhere near the intended impact site.

You are going to be dismantled at the end of all this. This is a truth. The vicissitudes of animant existence is to be bound by the flailing attempts of energy to bind by to flesh and the vanadians around you loathe it. In the waste of the Sarethian interior, animants prowl on in packs of hundreds, remnant scars of a long-fought war.

You no longer need to fear the metabolic hazards of existence. How can you bleed when you have no blood? How can you starve when you do not eat? How can you suffocate when your lungs do not breathe [/i]air? That's a certain kind of power.

And the greatest horror of the scars on the ethereal is that the gift can be shared.

>Animants aren't alive, and so they need to be physically dismantled to cease to exist.
>Animants can incorporate material from other sources, and twist it to replace destroyed form. This is a grisly process that slowly changes the make-up of the Animant. Takes 2 AP.

So many lost, at home and abroad, at far field and near town. Faces. Voices. The little routines of life that make up a person. Who prepared the batch of bitter black coffee for the mess with Simonson dead from a Legio attack? Putting that legio on this wall, well, it soothes, but Simonson is still gone. Husked Sofiana took the secrets of baking bread on gunpowder and biscuit rations to the beyond along with three others. And on, and on.

Is this hopeless? Just last night, an older trooper checking over his kit near a fire had asked that question with lingering despair, trailing off to silence. Just this morning, he hadn't been there to give whatever answer he had arrived to. Gaunt-blade. At least he went quick.

But it can't be hopeless. This war will be over by the end of the year. So they always say. There must be some way to get Them through it...

>Sergeant Kaine's contemplative creative work in artistic expression gives some time to consider command protocols that may allow troopers to weather the storm...

>Trooper general Tactical Acumen increased.

Certain false conclusions made previously are clarified:
- Gallu was not immune to the theurges presence because he was an icon,
- Gallu was silent, but not because he was a summoned servitor different from the unity swarm,
- The theurge was not annihilated in body in his ritual, as predicted.
I suppose the theurge bound Gallu to his shadow to spread his parasitic influence to the other swarm forms. That does bring up a few lines of inquiry:
- Can the effect be replicated? I hope Vitae's observations and the images of the rune arrays help with this,
- Is the effect permanent? We will need to examine further swarm forms for this infection of 'glittering motes'
- Can it be weaponized and deployed?

A few other idle curiosities:
- What did the Nightstalker do to that theurge to cause them to switch allegiances? Could that be done to anyone? How detectable is it? What other changes does it bring?
- Were those Pytherian hazocom equivalents?
- Why, when all other sources of Fire or Empyreal were extinguished (including wardstones, candles, and campfires across the cave system) , did FT Anger survive Tr'Drak's manifestation?
- The theurge spoke with words dripping empyreal influence that practically blistered the senses. His ritual was fueled by crystallized empyreal fire and his faction worship the Icon. And yet he decided to align with the Icon of the night on his path to godhood. Why is that? Why 'glittering motes' to mark his influence? What does that mean?
- Why, with his last breath, did the theurge thank his killer?
>>
>>3705310
And two more:
- When he was killed and the statue shattered, both bled what seemed to be green empyreal fire, quickly suffocated by tendrils of darkness.
- Why did the theurge call on Gallu out of all of the icons in the book of bindings of theirs? What attribute did he have that others didn't?
>>

>Bound his shadow
It appears so.

>What did the Nightstalker do to that theurge to cause them to switch allegiances? Could that be done to anyone? How detectable is it? What other changes does it bring?

The shadows crawled inside and snuffed out the light in his brain

>Why, when all other sources of Fire or Empyreal were extinguished (including wardstones, candles, and campfires across the cave system) , did FT Anger survive Tr'Drak's manifestation?

They were already dead. But perhaps more likely, if they Subsumed Aurai, and Aurai's essence is bound up in Ft Anger at present, TrDrak did not notice the flame. It wasn't alien to it.

>The theurge spoke with words dripping empyreal influence that practically blistered the senses. His ritual was fueled by crystallized empyreal fire and his faction worship the Icon. And yet he decided to align with the Icon of the night on his path to godhood. Why is that? Why 'glittering motes' to mark his influence? What does that mean?

Perhaps. . . Perhaps the Theurge drew the shadows in with her own fire...? Perhaps in her final moments, she felt a sting of regret.

>Why Gallu, of All Those Things That Are Bound?

Perhaps. . . Gallu is a Knight of the Dark Ocean and what is a Knight but a Royal Servant, Bound By Oaths?

>Were those Pytherian hazocom equivalents?

We have forwarded your report and observations to the Thaumatheurgical Division and one of the research arms.

The description, materials and photographs of the Sarethian wards has been put into a data package and forwarded by resilient courier to Isfelt. While a proper analysis will take time, preliminary forensic theology indicate the runes to be of a non-standard arrangement. If Perotil's translations are correct, they are a mix the high rising voice of fire and light with the encroachment of shadow. Both of these songs have been modified with using a dialect variation on the standard chants, and invoke a something the best transliterated as "Harmonious Unity", which may be an attempt to forcefully override the contradictory nature of fire and night together.

Perotil has isolated himself and is currently working on one of his ideas.

Forensic Archeotheologist Carlsteen has had some ideas for incorporating a miniaturised design of these runes in a portable format on outer layer of the ballistic protective vests and gear that we would like to Ward against Night-gaunt presence.

>Devouring Shadows added as an Old Word
>Cataclysmic Fire added as an Old Word
>Devouring Fire added as an Old Word
>Cataclysmic Shadows added as an Old World

>We've added wards to the ballistic equipment, by invoking the contradiction in the nature of the runes analysed. Take one of the new vests before advancing and you may be Warded against Pytherii Theurgical Invocations...
