>The year 1941 will be, I am convinced, the historical year of a great European New Order.

These were the words which echoed in Johann Fischer's mind as he marched into the Hungarian capital. They were first heard by him from The Führer over the radio in 1941 when he was too young to join the Wehrmacht. But now, now he was old enough after the 2nd World War to finally join and do his duty for the fatherland. The mix of nationalism and pride were found wanting when the Hungarians put up a rather lackluster defense of their city. The battle was over before it could even begin as Romanian and Slovak troops raced to carve up the nation before the Germans can dictate the terms. Sure, there were a few firefights in the city but for the most part, the entire affair to restore order to Hungry finished before he was satisfied. Normally, that would mean many of the troops would be demobilized. He feared a life of peace after a such a short tour and opted to avoid that fate by joining the frontier troops under the Reichskommissariats or RKs for short. These RKs are colonies created after the war on the corpse of Bukharin's Soviet Union to expunge the local Slavic populations over the course a generation. Johann would go on to be transferred to...

When Fischer first arrived in the Caucuses his train was met with fog rolling down from the highlands. It was eventually broken through to the sight of buildings carved into the stone of the mountains and locals watch in amazement as the troops formed up into neat rows. The Reichskommisar came to personally greet the new arrivals in the station. From what Fischer could make of him he was polite and maybe even serene from his demeanor. He expected somebody more demanding or mad from his experiences with the SS. They have become even more fanatical after the war ended with their zeal anything but lightened. Although the calm the Reichskommisar introduced himself as Josias Georg Wilhelm Adolf Erbprinz zu Waldeck und Pyrmont, coming from noble blood changed his manner to that of the more graceful person instead of the typical SS officer. The other National Socialist in the troop sneered and frowned at the mention of the old nobility while wondering how such backward elements can exist in a National Social utopia. Even Fischer thought about how Josias would hold back the progress and modernization of National Socialism but these troublesome thoughts were put aside by Josias' behavior. Over the course of a few days, Fischer was given the task of...

Fischer was given his StG 44 as he would go on to accompany Josias in his endeavors beyond the RK's capital. Within the city, it was thought to be enough to simply have his SS bodyguards protect him but whenever he left the city Fischer along with dozens of Wehrmacht soldiers joined to supplement his security detail. While Fischer was working for Josias he tagged along with him when he made speeches, inspections, and hangings around the countryside. Josias was a rather moderate officer all things considering as he forbid all those under his commander from mistreating the locals. That didn't stop him from carrying out his duties of burning down villages for partisan attacks and mass hangings for suspected dissenters. There was one such case that Fischer was in where he accompanied the Reichskommisar to a mass hanging then escorted him back. But, along the road, there was a corpse of Wehrmacht soldier with his helmet and uniform in the pose of Christ strapped on wooden poles. This effigy blocked the road and was a clear sign of the locals who were displeased with rightful German rule. Josias was visually upset by this and ordered somebody to take the body to give it a proper funeral in the fatherland.

The one who walked up was even younger than him, it was easy to discern that the boy was nervous while he slowly removed the straps. The effigy used ropes and belts to tie the body to the poles but they became undone as the boy was careful not to move too fast. Everybody watched in tense anticipation while holding a defensive perimeter around the Reichskommisar. Eventually, the boy waved his hand to signal the all clear and some even seemed a bit sad that the corpse wasn't rigged with any explosives. Fischer's squad was relaxing when they saw the boy carry the body back to an Opel Blitz truck behind them. The silence was broken with the crackle of rifle fire coming from the right of the road. Fischer tackled the boy, whose name was Earnhardt Becker, as Becker stood like a startled deer staring at the incoming shots. Using outdated weapons, the partisans suppressed the convoy from the hills as one of them threw smoke grenades at the road. The Germans managed to reorganize to return fire back up the hills after the MGs trained their sights on the Untermensch. Some of them were even suicidal enough to come charging down the hills as Fischer's squad gun them down. It appeared that some of the Untermensch were breaking under the pressure of MG 42s taking turns firing to always kept their heads down.

Fischer yelled, "Into the ditch and suppressive fire!" Becker, Weber, Müller, and Schmidt jumped into the dugout along with Feldwebel Fischer. Müller would help Schneider set his MG42 as everybody else opened fire with their assault rifles. Within a good minute or two the entire enemy wave charging at them, some with swords, were broken apart as the rate of fire brought them low. They seemed to be like warriors of old who would attack with melee weapons into the deadly gunshots. These truly were subhumans by all accounts with neither intelligence nor complexity in their tactics. It would be true as once the Germans repulsed the initial attacks coming from out of the smoke, the surviving partisans scurried back like rats before a torch. Hiding amongst the rocks and hills overhead. There were some more smoke grenades thrown on the road in what could be an attempt to cover their retreat or sow confusion in the German ranks as they ran away.

"Advance and hunt them down!" Fischer would say as he dragged Becker from the ditch and led the way for his squad to follow. It actually was easy to gun them down when they became a disorganized rabble of fleeing dogs before them. What went unnoticed was a commotion on the road as the SS personal bodyguards were overpowered in melee combat when the partisans pulled Josias out of his car. After the firefight was finished and the smoke cleared, the Reichskommisar was missing along with a few SS bodyguards. Fischer panics while Kruger who is in charge of the SS bodyguards tried to convince everybody to make their way back to Krasnodar. Some of the Wehrmacht troops doubt the wisdom of this action as they sound their motion to find and return the Reichskommisar before it's too late. Either way, the Germans must act fast before the locals can launch another attack.

"We can't return to Krasnodar as failures!" Fischer started, "There is no other choice but for us to search and find our superior. It is not only the right thing to do but is our duty as soldiers which we must accomplish this task for the fatherland and God is always with us." That seemed to have broken through the stubborn exterior of Kruger. Quickly the remaining guards split into the Wehrmacht and SS search party then began searching along the road for any sign of where Josias was taken. Weber came from his home of Baden-Württemberg and even accompanied hunting trips, that would be natural that he of all people would find the footprints leading to and from the tall grass on the left side of the road. Müller with his sharp eyes that were once trained for dentistry, spotted some drag marks as to indicate where the Reichskommisar was literally dragged off to. The tall grass cover to their left was the perfect environment to sneak up to the road while everybody was distracted and blinded by smoke. The Kosaken with their infamous swords could easily overwhelm German troops in melee combat. The search party then began looking for any clues they could find to the left of the road in a cone away from the BMW that Josias was riding. Eventually, a Wehrmacht soldier found a part of a ripped map where it showed a direction they could've taken their superior. It had a clear blue ink to indicate which path they would use to cut through hills to arrive somewhere south near the sea. Yet, that was where it ended. There was no clear destination as to where they were precisely headed to. For all, they knew this map was fake or they were reading it upside down. That realization made Kruger draw up a plan to gather his SS at Krasnodar then regroup for a new plan. "You may have convinced me this time but not again!" Kruger said, "This time I will come up with my own plan and the Wehrmacht as no authority to stop me. Remember that this colony is under the leadership of an SS officer, therefore the SS has the highest authority second only to The Führer himself." That was the only thing he said before storming off with his guards to head up the road to the city.

The Wehrmacht soldiers were going to find their superior whether or not there would be any help from Krasnodar or from the SS. They marched off following the path through the grass before arriving at a shack where there was a car that used to be parked there. That was the case as there where tire imprints in the mud next to the tiny building. The situation was getting worse by the moment, for if the enemy made their way from now on with a car it would be much harder to catch up. "Mount up! Everybody get back up in your cars!" Fischer realized that the only hope they have is to drive as fast as possible to one of the locations before it's too late. While the bummy dirt roads made for a poor ride through the hills, it would be useful for those avoiding checkpoints. There were really three different places where they could hold the Reichskommisar from what Fischer knew about this place. There was a city to the north that could have plenty of warehouses that would be more than enough space to hide, plan, and store supplies but that didn't make sense if a random German soldier can accidentally stumble upon the building. There was a town closer to the road where there had been abandoned military factories from the war. Before Bukharin could disappear from history, one of the things he enacted was to move as many factories to Siberia as possible when Operation Barbarossa began, this was one of these factories. It became an empty shell of its former self, one that a German soldier would pass by unnoticed many times as the colonies were filled with them. Although considering the state of these buildings it was questionable if it was even safe to stay in them for too long much less set up shop there.

>[They go to the factory.]

The officer contemplates as to where he should go and it would be easier to search for Josias in the factory rather than the city for one important reason. The northern city has a large sewerage system with winding tunnels and hidden manholes which would make it a lethal trap to navigate through. That is also not mentioning that they would also have to scour the buildings above the sewers. "We'll need to move fast to this place here," pointing to a spot on the map off of the road to the south of the city, "What's so special about that place?" Becker asking while taking off his helmet to wipe his sweat. "We passed by here and saw some abandoned factories leading away from the main road by an overgrown path. There are only two places they could be hiding from where this path would end, either the city or these hollow buildings here." Fischer began briefing everybody else to organize into a force that would storm, find, and extract the Reichskommisar once they arrived at this place.

True to his word, there were indeed lookouts stationed not too far from the factories as soon as the Germans dismounted. Thankfully, there was a hill to cover their deployment but the sounds from the trucks might be heard. Müller and Weber crawled up the hill to scout out the enemy position.
"I see 2 guards at the entrance, 2 more looking out of the windows, and maybe 12 or so inside the building itself. Ende." Weber spoke softly into the radio. Then screams were coming from the building, enough to make his heart skip a beat.

"Can you locate where those screams are coming from? Ende." Fischer asked.

"Uh... One moment. Ah- Ja! You're not going to like it but it appears to be an SS officer being tortured by the Untermensch. I can see- Mein Gott, I- I think they removed one of his eyes. Requesting further orders, Ende."

He can come up with two approaches to storming this place. Either leading a diversionary attack while a smaller force sneaks in to finish off the enemy or rescue Josias, the element in that attack would decide if they can accomplish one or both at their own discretion. This would mean it could put himself along with Josias in a firefight. There was a more patient approach to wait until nightfall to get all soldiers as close to the building as possible before launching an attack from all side, the idea being that it would give them little time to respond before being overwhelmed. This would also have to take into consideration that Josias could be dead from blood loss or simply be killed by the bored Kosakens by the end of this day.

How many men do we have, and what weapons does each man have?

If have over two dozen men that's a pretty good amount, but we have at least 12+ men?

Okay, so we have our best rifleman aim at the guards at the window while we put a MG aiming at the entrance. while the rest sneak up as close to the build as possible.

Should the men be spotted or we start opening fire before we reach the building the guys watching over us should fire immediately at the entrance and window guys.

Then we bound the rest of the way to the building and storm inside with grenades and bayonets.

Everybody fixes their bayonets and Fischer goes with the group who would storm the building from the opposite direction while the main force may seem to attempt to attack from the front. Another officer organized the MGs to stay on the hill while everybody else would crawl up to the doors as close as possible. For as Fischer's group got to their position, guards on their side ran back inside the building once they heard a firefight broke out. The diversionary force got uncomfortably close before the entrance guards noticed then the MGs from the hills opened fire while everybody else who was seemingly attacking the door ran back into cover in the hills. The Kosaken lined up the walls and any openings from the building to return fire at the diversionary force. Fischer then used that as the signal after waiting for a few moments then storming the building from the rear. Thankfully, there were no guards before accidentally running into a woman carrying a box of ammo. There was a brief moment of silence as Fischer hesitate to shoot her when she reminded him of his cousin Monika Weiß, even after he had noticed the rifle slung around her shoulder on her back. The stillness was quickly broken when one of the men open fired to fill her with bullets before Fischer could react. Becker asked if he was okay, but he only replied with, "We need to find and free the Reichskommisar now, got it?" The small group went clearing out room to room with gunfire or grenades. Eventually, they stumbled upon Josias, who had a black bag over his head, and his hands were tied together to bind him to his chair. Fischer quickly ran up to start cutting the rope to free him. Unfortunately, they were interrupted by some partisans that cam barging in. Fischer got up to fire his StG but only managed to take down one Kosaken and block incoming shots from hitting Josias by standing in front of him. It seems that the enemy wanted to kill the Reichskommisar at all cost for as Fischer was squirming on the floor while drowning in his blood, somebody thew a grenade into the room to try to kill the Germans disregarding the Kosaken inside. Becker was the closest and dragged out Josias with the bag still over his head before the explosive could detonate. The last thing Fischer could see was his vision darkening as he stared at the ceiling while trying to stop the bleeding that came from his neck then the last thing he heard was the grenade going off to kill him.

After it was confirmed that Becker got the VIP out of the building and Fischer was dead, Weber took over command and started organizing to surround the building. In the end, the Germans managed to mount an attack by storming the building after blowing it to bits with grenades. Under the orders of Josias, none of them could leave until every single one of the Untermensch were killed. Even after some of them brought out what seemed to be kids that would be smuggled across the border into Turkey.
>>
>>3645033
Josias asked for a Luger before executing them himself and emphasized that Weber and Müller would be punished for not killing them on sight. Although most of the soldiers were uncomfortable and a few either looked away or closed their eyes when he shot the kids, none dared speak out against superior's orders. Over a few days, the Reichskommisar recover back to his full strength, but there was something different in his demeanor. He was more erratic, quick to anger, and grew increasingly vengeful. There was also his attempts to organize SS expeditions to recover ancient artifacts and studied into the occult. After a decade or so the RK was unrecognizable to what it once was when Fischer first arrived in the 50s. Eventually, as the locals failed to love him, they would learn to fear him as he would break the people and rule his Black State with iron gloves. Kaukasien-Germans within this RK wouldn't trust any outsiders even other Germans from their fatherland or other colonies. It would go on to enslave the locals in expansive mining and industrial operations to choke the entire place in smog and pollution for a higher purpose.

My plan for this quest was to be a short one-shot that ended with either Fischer being dismissed or killed. Although he wouldn't have a memorial, he wouldn't be forgotten. I'm planning on making another short one-shot quest within the same setting but longer than this one due to the nature of this new main character.

Ah, I should have known. Would have saved our hiney like the SS guys.

Was there ever any chance of preventing Josias from becoming evil or more evil since this guys already SS?
>>
>>3645166
By SS standard he was a moderate or a fairly nice guy but if and how Fischer can save him will determine Josias' attitude to the Wehrmacht but Fischer never survived to lived to see it. As the narrator, I would try to throw false leads and trying to kill Fischer all the time. But even if the MC was killed he managed to save his superior and not make the Wehrmacht look incompetent which again was something I was trying to do.
>>
>>3645187
There wasn't much choice living or dying. The last thing we could choose was when to attack. Day time or night time.
>>
>>3645203
Fair enough, that's why I would be making the next quest longer than this one to really flush out the characters and setting.
>>
>>3645216
Okay. I would apprechate that. I wasn't too certain what year we were in. I kept re-reading the first few posts and thinking its either 1941, or after than and the character is older, but it also implied the war has ended with a German victory, but it lacked some details in helping firing out the rest.
