/qst/ - Quests

You are Ekaterina Belosselskaya Belova and you are a perfectly ordinary Belorussian peasant girl. You’re currently stuck in a basement in the city of Stalingrad, surrounded by the corpses of German soldiers and confronted by a magical girl who’s currently crying inconsolably over the fact that her desperate attempt to not becoming an inhuman monstrosity has apparently fallen flat.

Archive:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/3589213/

>Hug her
>Give her the seed
>Ask her to stay

You embrace the crying girl, her body shaking in your arms. “It will be okay, Roksana.” you mutter, allowing the girl to sob freely, “I’m sorry I waited,” you murmur quietly through the hug, “you scared me pretty bad with the Germans. Here-” you break out of the hug, fishing through your pockets and pulling out the gloomy bauble. “I wanted to wait for the others to return, but I won’t let you become a witch, maybe we can consider it a trade for the panzer upstairs?”

Roksana sniffles pitifully and stares dumbfounded at the Grief Seed as if unable to comprehend your generosity. After nearly a minute of speechless staring she takes it tenderly out of your hand and pushes it against the jewel in her hand. The darkness inside begins to flow away, revealing a sea of glowing crimson. She looks at gem in wonder for some time before turning back to you, “I have no idea how to thank you properly for this.” she mutters quietly.

“You can start by cleaning up the Nazis”, you offer, glancing at the corpses laying strewn about the room’s floor. “After that we can talk to the others. I’m sure we can work something out in trade.”

At the mention of the other girls Roksana’s devoted look fades into unease and she shakes her head slightly. “I would love to stay with you Katya. But there is bad blood between me and your friends. Even before the war being a magical girl put you in competition with others of your kind. With this city as it is more and more we find ourselves fighting to survive.”

“But they helped me-” you protest.

*It’s simple economics Ekaterina* Kyubey interjects from his spot on the bed, *When a supply of witches in one area-” he isn’t able to finish his sentence, you pick the pistol from the dead man’s hands and fire a round, nailing the incubator between the eyes and showering the bed in blood.

Roksana smiles bittersweetly at the killing, “I am sure all of us have done that at least once,” she muses quietly. “But as irritating as he is, he is right. I am sure the girls you know are good people. But it is a terrifying thing to know your soul is in danger. Most girls would not share soul gems so easily.” She glances over the assembled corpses. “Perhaps it would be easier for them and you to simply tell them I took it from you?”

>The demon sent you here for it hoping that I would make a contract. They will be angry, but I'd like to think we all know what is to blame and you would have found it eventually. If I had taken a contract they would lose far more than one grief seed in the long run.
>What was your wish? I was told he wouldn't hold me at gunpoint and yet today happened. One day I may fall for his tricks, so I must choose wisely while i can.

>"It may make things easier for me, but what about you? Who will come to your aid in the future? The other girls may hold it against you. No Roksana, the truth will suffice. You were misled by Kyubey. He wanted me in a labyrinth, again. Except this time no one was around to bail me out; I would have to contract. You were going to turn and if I didn't do anything...who knows what would happen. I already had one girl turn on me. I don't want it to happen again."
>Roksana, this city is bad enough alone without the incubator's actions. Us girls need to stick together for our own good. I'm not sure what happened between you and the other girls, but please tell me what it is and let me try to smooth it over. There is a place for you here. You can help me. I can't do much alone, you help prove that to me today. However if we think like the soldiers there is better odds if we work together. Two girls go out to forage, two watch the base. If one gets injured the other can have her back."
>"Roksana, you seem like a nice person regardless of whatever you've had to do to survive. I want to be your friend and you deserve to have one watch out for you. Plus, I'm taking serious my promise to teach you how to read. I don't have much of my own but that I can share with you."
>"Just sit with me, speak calmly and slow, and I will handle the other. I will translate if I have to."

Sorry QM. This came out a bit more jumbled idea wise and with more grammatical errors than I would like.

I guess that’s what happens when you try to write fast after sleeping on your keyboard with a livestream playing to no one for an hour or two.

“It may make things easier for me, but what about you? Who will come to your aid in the future?” You let out a sad sigh. “No Roksana, the truth will suffice. You were misled by Kyubey. He wanted me in a labyrinth again. With no one was around to bail me out; I would have to contract, costing them even more grief seeds. You were going to turn and if I didn't do anything...who knows what would happen. I already had one girl turn on me. I don't want it to happen again."

She pauses and shakes her head. “No- he may have used me, but I was not misled. I came to steal the seeds. I do not think your comrades will forgive as easily as you do. Grief Seeds are a precious thing.”

“We need to stick together, you seem like a nice person regardless of what you’ve had to do to survive. I want to be friends, you deserve someone to look out for you. There is a place for you here.” you explain, gesturing to the damaged shelter, “I can't do much alone, you help prove that to me today. if we think like the soldiers there is better odds if we work together.” You smile at the girl, “plus I still need to teach you how to read.”

She smiles despite her reservations, but says nothing.

“What was you wish Roksana,? If you don’t mind me asking- I was told he wouldn't hold me at gunpoint and yet today happened. One day I may fall for his tricks, so I must choose what to wish for while I can.”

“I’d rather-” she begins before pausing. “I suppose it is only fair to tell you after all you’ve given me. My father was a soldier before the war, arrested by the Soviet secret police. Much of us children and families of Polish officers were sent to the far east to labor camps in Siberia. When war broke out, the Soviets came and began recruiting Polish soldiers, they said they were shipping them off to fight for the British- though in retrospect I’m certain that was a lie. I wished my father could be one of them, so me and my brother could leave the camps and live with him again.”

“Then why are you here?” you ask cautiously.

“My father was killed before the Germans attacked your country, presumably executed by the secret police”
>>
>>3622798
“I’m sorry.”

She smiles slightly at you at shakes her head. “Thank you. I appreciate your kindness Katya. It is more than any in this country has given me and more than I can ever repay. But I do not think it will end well for either of us if I stay. I can take care of myself and I promise I’ll do my best not to hurt your friends.”

“What happened between you and them?” you ask with concern.

“It is hard to fight grief seeds in Stalingrad. With your friends working together it made it only more difficult as they are much more capable of finding and killing any witch. I could not make peace- I could not speak the language here and we fought several times over witches.” She hesitates, a look of shame and unease crossing her face. “I took to harrying them- My powers allow me to influence uncontracted humans. So day by day I sent the German Army after them. Snipers, raids on their home, bombardments- anything to buy myself time to collect my own grief seeds.” She smiles a bitter sardonic smile, “A lot of good it did, huh? Just showed my own cruelty and desperation.”

"We can talk this out Roksana,” you assure, “Just sit with me, speak calmly and slow, and I will handle the other. I will translate if I have to."

She hesitates again before finally nodding, “Fine. But We’ll meet them outside this bunker, if everything goes poorly I don’t want to get stuck with them where I can’t escape”

This is way too much optimism in an urobutcher setting. This is just begging for a bigger and bigger suffering bomb as time goes on. You've gotta get into that dreary russian mindset before it's too late!
She could probably farm the shit out of Nazis via feeding them to familiars. QB won't like that though and will fuck it up somehow. my money is on a sudden population explosion of magical girls.
Are there any local teachers or libraries? That might be a plan for the next time we go out as far as asking an adult for advice.

>What will you say to them? Is it your own eulogy as you make peace with your actions or some sort of deal?(being a mediator is all well and good but we need an actual reason for them to speak to each other. Hopefully that changes her mind about sticking around after she just blew up the fucking house.)
>Every witch was once a girl, there is cruelty in every step, and QB controls how many witches there are.
>Why does he make you consume the sorrow of the fallen? Malice? Fun? Some other infernal reason?
>>
>>3622867
It's okay. You're in Stalingrad. It's not like anything bad ever happened there.
>>
>>3622802
I understand that. However this is Stalingrad, how can be be sure we don’t fall victim to a German sniper or artillery bombardment? I want to stay close to cover if possible.

Roksana, I’m glad you trusted me enough to tell me this. I’ll shield you if I have to. Do you see something white laying around to make a truce flag. Let me approach the girls first if I have to. Svedka has a good heart and will probably go along with me. Ilya can be prickly and may take some work. I just realized she lost some friends. That may make things more difficult.
>>
>>3622802
>>3622880
Adding on because I forgot to paste it in.
>Roksana, did by any chance you hurt a third girl that was here or someone carrying a revolver. I need to know beforehand.
>>
>>3622888
Also supporting making sure she didn't hurt the third girl. It sounds like she doesn't realize there even was one, but if she did then this already volatile situation is already going to turn into a firefight. We really should know better and they might assume we're being puppeted anyway.

You nod and smile “ I’m glad you trusted me enough to tell me this. I’ll shield you if I have to. Let me approach the girls first if I have to. Svedka has a good heart and will probably go along with me. Ilya can be prickly and may take some work. I just realized she lost some friends. That may make things more difficult.” You pause for a second and eye the girl with an expression of concern, “Roksana, did by any chance you hurt a third girl that was here- or even someone carrying a revolver. I need to know beforehand.”

“The third girl? No-” she begins, avoiding your gaze at the comment “I don’t think so, but I don’t know, it’s hard to keep track of the Germans I send sometimes. She has been gone for some time- I am not sure what happened to her. I’m not certain about anyone with a revolver,” she looks guiltily at the ground. “I have hurt a lot of people carrying guns in this city, but besides fighting your friends they are only Nazi and Communist soldiers.”

“Okay.” You frown and furrow your brow, pondering the answer before nodding slowly with acceptance and picking through the disheveled shelter, “As long as you didn’t kill anyone they cared about, we should be able to talk. Do you see something white laying around to make a truce flag? It might help us keep them from attacking at distance.”

Roksana begins poking through the shelter along with you, shifting through the piled up clothing and personal effects that were scattered in the explosion. It takes some time to make sense of the chaos.

“So every witch was once a girl,” you reflect. Interrupting the silence of your search. “That means Kyubey controls how many witches and Grief Seeds there are.”

Roksana seems briefly startled by the break in the silence, but nods in affirmation. “Not all of them, witches can breed more witches, but only after their familiars gain strength by consuming humans.”

“Why does he do it then?” you ask despondently? “Force you all into this endless loop? Cruelty? Malice?”

“I don’t know.” Roksana mutters tiredly before picking out a small piece of cloth, stained at one corner with the dull red of the blood of one of the Germans. She looks at you for approval of her impromptu flag.

You nod slightly and the pair of you ascend to the surface to wait in the ruins of the factory. You spend some time waiting for the pair of girls to return in apprehensive silence. Roksana clutches the white flag in her hand, glancing nervously from entrance to entrance periodically.
>>
>>3623093
You’ll have to figure out what to say.” you explain, interrupting the mounting silence again, “Do you want to make a deal? Or is this simply an apology?”

She seems taken aback by this comment, “I-” she stammers, “I’d like to be your friend Katya and I don’t want to fight with them anymore. I’m tired of fighting, I was hoping to apologize and see if they’ll let me help.”

“It’ll be fine Roksana” you answer with a hopeful smile, “you’ll just have to let me do a lot of the talking-”

You see a brief movement near the entranceway. Svetka seems to be stumbling in first, her rucksack mostly full. It takes her a few steps forwards for her to register the two of you standing in the ruins. Her expression turns from confusion to horror as the sack falls to her feet. “You bitch.” she angrily murmurs, glaring at Roksana, “You stupid Nazi bitch.”

Roksana turns to you, a panicked expression of helplessness on her face.

“You couldn’t just leave us alone!” Svetka shouts, her arquebus materializing in her hands with a green glow. Angry tears are forming in the corner of her eyes “You couldn’t just leave poor Katya alone!”

I seem to be having writer's block here so this is probably gonna be a bit disjointed.
>Wait Svenka, it's not what you think! Er- it's not all what you think! QB tricked her into thinking the bunker was empty and she's not a Nazi.
>recap and cue the one liner I mentioned for earlier about how she was right that QB wouldn't hold us at gunpoint if a chance happens.
>She's just.. tired. She wants to apologize, maybe even work together. If nothing else you could manage a truce? (This didn't factor into the writing but there's probably enough room with Lena gone and the original series had enough witches in the city for a 5 girl group)

Should we begin the Nazi farming operation?.( Feed a familiar some Nazis, kill the witch and feed one of the familiar some more nazis. repeat as the Nazi high command keeps sending in more soldiers. I think we're a bit preoccupied by other facts so we won't actually think of it right now but if we get a long enough time to rack our brains we can basically fight in the war while they get themselves a giant stockpile of grief seeds before QB can respond.

You put your hands up and desperately step between the two parties.“Roksana put your hands up” You instruct the Polish Girl in German, before turning to your Russian friend with a pleading expression “I told her to put her hands up. Please Svetka, I almost had one girl turn into a witch today. This is Roksana. She’s not a Nazi, she’s Polish and she’s desperate, she can’t even speak Russian at all.”

“Shut up.” Svetka yells angrily at Roksana, ignoring you and raising her rifle, pacing around the ruins to try and get a clear shot. “Let her go, she’s not contracted and you get nothing by hurting her.”

“She’s not controlling me, she’s a nice person-” you begin desperately, “Kyubey tricked her- he wanted us to fight.”

“Katya I don’t think she’ll listen.” Roksanna mutters in defeat. “There is no room for trust between us, not with my powers and what I’ve done.”

“No-” you answer her in German before turning back to Svetka, “It’s me-Katya. Ekaterina Belosselskaya Belova. You saved me from Lena yesterday. Roksana’s soul gem was black-”

“What are you after?” Svetka angrily growels at the girl, before turning you you “Even if it is you Katya, this girl has sent half the German Army to kill us. You expect her to waltz in and make peace? No-” she turns back to Roksana, “Give us back Katya, if you want to fight us for the grief seeds fine, but leave her alone.”

“Svetka.” a voice from the flanks comes out, Ilya stands prepared, her sub machinegun held in a highready position, “what is Red doing here?”

“She’s tired-” you desperately explain “She wants to apologize, maybe even work together. If nothing else you could manage a truce?”

“We left her well enough alone,” Ilya mutters angrily.

“I think she’s influencing Katya.” Svetka explains

You open your mouth again as desperate explanations begin forming in the back of your mind. You feel a hand on your shoulder and look up to see Roksana behind you, the girl’s expression a forlorn smile. The gem on her hair glows faintly. “Thank you for trying,” she sadly mutters, “I think maybe it’s best you tell them I put you up to all of this.”

I'm trying to draw down QB if we need him and We are already aware in character he doesn't know when to shut up. Although Katya is a survivor and don't think she would Mami the other girls, I do think she might consider shooting her soul gem if she contracts (and things go enviably) bad to deny QB the grief seed.
>>
>>3623952
this is a huge risk. A huge gamble on their humanity or what is left inside them. Our life is already shit and sooner or later QB will bring a lot of many shits on us. Considering what she saw on our Polish friend and our two Russian MG, Katya would rather die a human amd while she is still herself. But what I am afraid of is QB will use this as a cornerstone for something big. Ex.: Reincarnate us from our lingering thoughts that would be considered as wish to fullfil a contract.

The suicide stuff was to consider IF Katya contracts and is getting ready to witch.

I am considering a couple of wishes for our future use, that in essence would fuck over QB if he actually would grant them. I just need to make sure I can phrase them in a way that even peasant girl with no knowledge of thermodynamics or entropy could make them.
>>
>>3624328
The concept of that the "world" is in constant decline can be something she knows about. It is pretty common in all sort of apocalyptic religions and other myths that she can be aware of. If she can somehow associate all those things to entropy it can, maybe, be phrased in a believable way. A heavenly religious and/or esoteric one, but plausible.

“Svetka, she’s doing some sort of magic!” Ilya yells, raising her firearm

You grab Roksana, hugging her tightly. You feel bitter tears welling in your closed. “That won’t help Roksana, please. I don’t want them to hurt you and I don’t want to sell my soul to make them to believe me.”

“Svetka, what do we do?” Ilya asks from the flank, worry apparent in her voice. “If you’re so afraid of her- you don't need to kill her, time will do that on it's own. She can't find witches as fast as you,” you retort angrily to the Russian girl.“She is not a bad person, do I have to throw away my soul for you to believe me? I'm sick of this fight. I'm sick of this confrontation, I'm sick from all of it. I just want to have allies that we can stick together. A friend that will pull it us through this hard times,” you grip the rifle in your hands tensely, staring down Svetka.

She hesitates and finally nods solemnly, “Okay- fine. Ilya, for Katya’s sake- put the weapon down.” Ilya lowers her firearm, eyeing her friend in sidelong confusion. Svetka turns again to you, “I don’t know what’s going on here and I can’t trust her-. she’s a manipulator and she has hurt us too much in the past for forgiveness. Frankly because of that I don’t even know if I can trust you. But tell her she’s welcome to go. Please, just come back to us.”

“I never left,” you mutter angrily, “the poor girl is just scared and alone like the rest of us.”

Roksana, tugs nervously on your sleeve. “Thank you for everything.” she mutters sadly, “but from the tone of things I do not think they will accept my apologies or give me trust. If you ever contract while I am alive, I will be there for you.” She steps back, eyeing the other two and preparing to leave.

We will get to deceive the wish? Is QB even here right now? Anyways, what matters is the suffering.
>>
>>3624328
It would possibly be easier to see through his crap thanks to our lack of scientific education as he wouldn't be able to telepathically use terms we don't know. He'd have to be more direct and maybe say that they found magic but couldn't make their own because you need emotions. Madoka was probably in some weird sweet spot where she had a few general ideas about what QB was claiming but didn't really comprehend conservation of mass/energy yet as science had advanced enough to make what QB was saying sound esoteric.. I'm actually a little surprised at how far back information calling QB's entropy argument bullshit goes. Any half respectable scientist would have called QB out on his bullshit for that centuries ago.(Or even as far back as 550BCE the prototype ideas for conservation of energy was being formed. Empedocles (490–430 BCE) declared that "nothing comes to be or perishes" albeit he thought everything was made of the four elements.) Once Einstein did E=MC^2 in 1905 QB's argument was destroyed on every level.

Anon I am pretty sure you don't understand entropy in this context and what kyubey is trying to prevent.
>>
>>3624328
My stance on the QB wish thing is that when she realizes how ancient that fucker is she will realize that she's way out of her depth and probably can't actually find a way to really screw him over. Aka i'm assuming this entire thing is tragedy end. The real fun is what gigantic middle finger we send on the way out. She's looking for the "terms and conditions may apply" since QB really granted anything he would be dead since long ago from a grieving sibling making a contract and demanding that he stay dead. This is a chess game where the grandmaster refuses to explain the rules. She has to figure them out from everyone else.
>>
>>3624690
I’m still working on the wish so I don’t want to vote for it yet. Now that everyone is calm we can actually talk.
>>
>>3624703
Not my fault that QB utterly failed basic physics when he tried to explain entropy. The actual definition would be all of the energy in the universe would be equal and uniform eventually. QB's definition relies on not knowing basic physics and the concept of conservation of mass being observably wrong despite the fact that 5 minutes of thinking would tell you to ask what the fuck QB thought smoke/ash was. Now that I've mentioned that, I have to wonder if QB's species discovered magic extremely early on (eg. Egypt, Persia, Sumeria equivalent) and built their civilization while using the other species as an energy source. It's about the only way QB could conceivably not be outright lying when talking about entropy.

>Roksana, there is a certain part of town North of your territory west of here...describe the part of town where we first met Lena...In an allyway you will see a Slavic cross with the name Lena There is a basement in one of the buildings. I will you meet you in a day at most two. I'm sure I can get through to them when they calm down. But let me try one more time now that they aren't shouting.

>tell the other two something: Girls you took me alone because I think things out clearly. Stop and think for a second. You both know Roksana can't speak Russian. If she wanted to ask for your help she *couldn't* because she *doesn't* *speak* *Russian*. She couldn't hunt witches that well and she was desperate to not *die*. So she started attacking you for grief seeds. Svedka, if you didn't know Ilya, and you couldn't talk to her, and you were going to turn into a witch what would you do? You have three options turn into a witch, kill yourself, or steal. Which would you pick?

>If Roksana is so dangerous why didn't she just kill me and take all your grief seeds and your food while she was at it. I was all alone and she had a whole squad of Germans and a fucking tank. Did you think I fought them? She could have just left. No, Roksana killed them all because I spoke to her in German and she could *understand* me. She didn't threaten me. All she wanted was *help*. She just doesn't want to die and you would want the same thing in her place.
>Look I don't expect you just to up and forget everything she's done. She knows it was awful. She's sorry. I came out her to help her *apologize* to you. She wants to make it up to you; to help. Fuck, Ilya, Svedka, She's like me. Her family is dead. She all alone out here and she is doing what she can just to survive. You know how I met Lena anyway. I stole her fucking food on accident. Her grandfather talked to me and stopped a fight. I'm trying to stop one now.

>You know who does want us to fight? That rat bastard who stole your souls. He wanted Roksana to turn so I would have to make a wish, so he could take mine. He wants us to keep fighting so we die. Do you understand?

*are for emphasis on words.

Ok, I don't want to talk physics to a wall, at least now, so whatever. I will drop the topic.

On the second topic, I think that QB is actually retarded, or he is pretending to be.
He should understand evolution and, be doing so, how and why emotions come to be. As well as how they work and that they make total sense, in context. But he keeps whining about them being illogical, as if he takes everything as face value. How can he not understand something we manage to understand?

My guess is that he is manipulating and lying on another deeper level.
Or he is retarded.
Or our undertanding of reality is so maimed by not including magic that we think that emotions totally make sence touthg a eveutionay perperctive but in realittty, a reality that includes magic, they make no sence. This doesn't apper to be the case, he talks about magic as something foreing, but again, he may be liying.

But all of this is way too meta, there is no way to organically introduce any of these topics int he quest.

>If Roksana wanted to fight why is she holding a white flag of truce, why did she put her hands up when I asked her, why is she standing out in the open with me, why did she kill her fucking Germans? If this is an attack or a trick it makes no Goddamned sense, because it isn't one. I've been trying to explain this to you the whole time. Instead you started yelling and waving your guns around. If you wanted me to think things out you're making it hard for me to help.

Yes, you get to decide the wish and he'll probably come if you ask.

I was working on writing out my vote at the time so I didn't jump into the physics talk, ultimately it is sort of inconsequential as Katya would understand none of it.

I'm just trying to brainstorm a wish that would be a giant middle finger to the incubators is they would be stupid enough to grant it and maybe foreshadow what Madoka, and later Homura wind up doing to them.

I was thinking almost like a curse as a starting point (not the exact wording, just sort of a starting point) That the incubator could never achieve his goal and he would have to suffer the grief and emotions he caused. This either:

A.) completely fucks over the entire universe, but hey were dead and so are all of our friends too (maybe the entire human race too). But in the end we take the incubators with us. and we are so going to wind up best witch friends with Homu if she can stop creeping on Madoka long enough to notice that we fucked the universe for everyone. Thus, causing the reason for Madoka needing to wish. Crazy girl space battles ensue.
B.) Curses an/all of the incubators with emotions. Hilarity all on its own. Ok Homura would actually aprove of this one.
C.) We cause Kyubey to balk at a wish from a girl with high potential (considering this is the first time he has outright tried to kill a girl)

As far as the emotions thing there is a bit of a contradiction there. If they really are a hive mind with very little resource cost for reproduction, and virtually no predation. It would make sense that they would be emotionless. But then why would they imply that incubators with emotions have existed? (which implies some degree of individuality) They should act more like hive insects. Why would they have a superiority complex and look down on other races for having emotions without considering the biological reality behind them? They might be an objectively more successful organism, but he gloats over it. That in and of itself is an emotional reaction. I know someone suggested a "crazy" QB was the one that made contact with humans and laid the ground work for their system. That could explain it.

Overall I just blame bad writing and thinking too much about something that really isn't the focus of the story as us nerds often do.

I honestly just want a "normal" wish that ends up making Katya suffer the most, I am pretty sure that is not what it is going to get voted, and that is fine.
And it is obvious that we are overthinking the setting way to much, to the point of breaking it.

“Roksana, there is a certain part of the city north of your territory west of here, a series of brick building, it’s one of the old apartment districts. In an alleyway across from a ruyou will see a piece of rubble with a Slavic cross and the name ‘Lena’ written on it.I will you meet you in a day- at most two, in the boileroom of the basement across the street. I'm sure I can get through to them when they calm down. But let me try one more time now that they aren't shouting.”

She smiles sadly, “Thank you again Katya. For everything.” stepping back she offers a weary look to the others before fleeing out a hole in the rubble of the factory.

“If Roksana wanted to fight why is she holding a white flag of truce, why did she put her hands up when I asked her, why is she standing out in the open with me, why did she kill her fucking Germans? You cross your arms angrily and glare at the other two girls, “You took me alone because I think things out clearly. Which would you pick?”

Svetka looks momentarily taken aback by your anger before glowering in return, “What matters isn’t what could be, what matters is what is- There is anger between us Katya and she is a dangerous person. We may have taken you in to think clearly, but you stuck with us for protection, that means listening to us when we tell you someone is dangerous.”
>>
>>3625082

“If Roksana is so dangerous why didn't she just kill me and take all your grief seeds and your food while she was at it?” you continue, “I was all alone and she had a whole squad of Germans and a fucking tank. Did you think I fought them? She could have just left. No, Roksana killed them all because I spoke to her in German and she could *understand* me. She didn't threaten me. All she wanted was *help*. She just doesn't want to die and you would want the same thing in her place.”

“She’s not dangerous like that- she has ways to control people's minds,” we just saw her soul gem activate before she left.

“When Roksana used her magic on the Germans, they were in pain and acted like their heads hurt. I'm not in any pain Svedka other than the pain you're giving me in my heart. I haven't clutched at my head. She hasn't controlled me. You girls just scared her.”

“Maybe the Germans are just more robust than a starving teenager girl,” Ilya rebukes. “The fact that you’ve spent all this time defending her without asking why we’re scared of her doesn’t exactly fill us with confidence. The girl threw half the German Army at us for a straight month, just because she acts desperate and kind once doesn’t mean she’s entitled to our forgiveness.”
You sigh tiredly, “Look I don't expect you just to up and forget everything she's done-. She knows it was awful. She's sorry. I came out her to help her apologize to you. She wants to make it up to you; to help. Fuck- She's like me- like all of us. Her family is dead. She all alone out here and she is doing what she can just to survive. You know how I met Lena anyway. I stole her fucking food on accident. Her grandfather talked to me and stopped a fight. I'm trying to stop one now.”

“That doesn’t mean we should trust her and take her in-” Ilya retorts. “If you want to be her friend so badly maybe you should-”

Svetka lets out a long sigh, interrupting the other girl. “Save your breath Ilya, we can discuss things tomorrow, when we’ve all had time to think.” She glances sadly at the dugout’s entrance. “Let’s go see what the damage is.”

You spend the next few hours in silence, digging through the rubble and refuse of Kayta and Sevtka’s former home. Eventually returning it to a semblance of normality. Eventually Ilya plops down on to her bed with a sad thud, Svetka sits in the recliner and you follow her gaze to the small recently-restored memorial to their fallen comrade.

“The grief seed she stole was Lena’s.” Svetka says with an air of finality. “I don’t think either of us can sleep without an eye open with the girl under our roof. “Nor to watch our back when things go poorly- I am sorry if that upsets you.”

The implication of my previous post is that he might legitimately be retarded when it comes to science due to never unlocking the science skill tree if we actually take him at face value when he claims he never lies despite all the times he clearly does various forms of lying.(Maybe some magical girl wished that QB could not lie and it's been working around the wish ever since?)

QB's a bit of a condescending dick about how emotional creatures shouldn't be able to make a society/civilization and that bias forms many of his stated opinions. This implies that QB civilization formed while they had no emotion and (assuming no lie) their inability to understand that energy/mass doesn't disappear means they had to have found magic before any QB scientist was advanced enough to set some wood on fire in an enclosed/insulated space and then compare/measure the weight. (They have magic, ergo they don't need to research stupid science junk as magic is clearly superior.)
Ergo QB wasn't lying about entropy. He was just legitimately that stupid because he has his "superior" magic that his entire civilization has been based upon the exploitation of since it started. Otherwise there is no possible way that the entropy speech was not a blatant lie.

>>3625010
>ultimately it is sort of inconsequential as Katya would understand none of it.
Yes/no QB didn't really use anything complicated. If he did have to dumb it down even more it might even force QB to tell more of the truth.
>giant middle finger to the incubators is they would be stupid enough to grant it
The wish will go off whether an incubator wants it to or not. QB couldn't do shit to stop it even if he was probably banking on Madoka losing to her witch self. The real trouble is how powerful the wish is that can be granted and Madoka was an extreme. Her wish possibly wouldn't have worked until her final timeline since she was getting exponential growth.

>>
>>3625186
Eg. Madoka baseline is "a" which we will then ignore for a while just to make this easier to keep track of
Loop 1 (second go round for Homu)
M(madoka)= x+y where x is the karmic weight of the universe and y is the karmic weight of the previous universe. The Karmic weight of the current universe/timeline (x) is equal to y. I'll use z to denote what the base karmic weight of a universe is supposed to actually be.

So in the third timeline M=6z because she has the karmic weight of the first universe, (1) the second universe (2) and now the current universe (3)
Taking into account that Madoka still died to Walpurgisnacht while fighting with Homu I'm kind of scared by whatever the hell must have made it.

Fourth timeline is 12z
Fifth timeline is 18z
Sixth is 36z (+a)
I think by now you can start to see how things are scaling although I feel like i'm getting this theory wrong (growth not fast enough) by not properly working it out on paper.
Homu did this nearly 100 times. Unless QM has some serious time/other fuckery going on that QB is somehow not going to notice (or this gave QB the idea to try and trick Homu into making a contract which would explain how QB generally knew how to manipulate Homu all of those times) we aren't going to be strong enough to actually do anything intergalactic to QB.

>>3625086
Accept the explanation and ask about familiars.

>suggest a compromise.
"...And I'm sorry I upset you Svedka and Ilya. I understand I'm nothing but a burden but I don't like being treated like one; the same with being a mere girl-a child. I though you might have a little more faith in me. I don't know how many different ways I could swear I wasn't being controlled. I though you would be happy I solved a problem with the "fucking crazy red girl" without ever firing a single shot and Roksana could help share in carrying the burden that is me."

>"You know if you two started shooting, I was going to contract...to prove I still had my free will. Hell, I probably would have turned into a witch by the end of all it...all over a language barrier. That's what Kyubey wanted in the end. Another witch, and more fighting, and more grief seeds, and endless suffering."

>"I know you don't trust me anymore but humor me. What would it take for you to trust Roksana? I didn't ever expect you to fully forgive her and be best friends, but I thought you could give her a chance. What if she moved closer to your territory. If she didn't attack you for a while could you at least try to help her hunt. I might need to teach her some Russian in the meantime. If she can speak to you and isn't in danger of turning, she has no reason to attack."

>And since I doubt you can trust me any less...I will tell you the truth. I took the the seed. She was going to turn into a witch right in front of me. Her soul gem was almost black. I couldn't count on you coming back to rescue me in time or winning my first fight as a magical girl with no clue of what I was doing...and Roksana told me all this would happen. I did it anyway--I'm fucking stupid. Roksana was going to use her magic and make me lie, blaming everything on her so that I could save face with you girls. I resisted it. That's what you saw outside and I promised I would meet up with her again. To see if I changed her mind and to teach her to read of all things. And worst of all I know now if I keep stressing you like this you will accumulate grief and you'll die, but I did it anyway. Do you hate me now?

>Take the holster for our new pistol off the German. I'm curious what german side arm it is
>See if any of them had a knife or a rucksack to carry stuff in.
>Bring Lena's grandfather's book to teach Roksana how to read. It might be the only thing we have for that.
>>

>"I had no right to do so. It wasn't mine to give. I would have waited but"
>>
>>3625189
>>3625086
I keep on forgetting to mention this since everyone kept on being too distracted by Roksana to actually get to the giant elephant in the room that QB wants us enough to send Nazi tanks after us.
>We need to actually make sure the implications of this are realized before that meeting starts. No matter how they feel about Roksana, she isn't the biggest threat. QB going absolute madman over a single contract is. We(as a group) need to be far more terrified of this.
And yes this is a vote. I'm not sure of the dialogue, but we need to realize it before it's too late. This goes far beyond any example the girls have seen of QB going after a contract and they are going to get blindsided by the next escalation if they don't stop focusing on the wrong thing.

Nature of the beast in quests. Different groups of anons wind up with slightly different character interpretations and your MC acts like they have multiple personality disorder or will dramatically change their priorities between votes.

I'm more pardoned that QM isn't coming back. It's like I'm a cursed reader. The last few quests I've been following have all died despite having a promising start.
