After a couple of hectic weeks, you’ve managed to somehow trick people into thinking you were cool and made some friends. You are currently relaxing with said group of weirdos in the crystalline waters of Luminescence Bay’s beach.

Right now, you catching you breathe after playing in the water with Eli, the ex-delinquent who’s traveling with you, a loud rambunctious, coarse, high spirited girl. Your first friend, and the only one who started hanging out with you by choice.

Not because she wanted to use you, or took pity of you, or was planning to pay you to do her job, not even because you share the same freakish ability or because you saved her from starving to death on a desert. She’s the only one who has seemed to genuinely like you as a person, from the start.

And under the bright sun, with seawater dripping from her barely tanned skin you can’t help but think that she looks amazing.

And for some unexplainable reason, you feel compelled to tell her so.

You notice that Eli is starting to blush even more intensely, she lowers her head a bit before stepping towards you, softly resting her head in your shoulder. You try to maintain your cool but you start to feel your heart rate increasing.

Then she starts chuckling softly before bursting out laughing.

Eli points to some rocky formations a bit deeper into the sea, it’s hard to see what’s back there so it could easily be used as a more private spot, it’s a bit awkward to use it as a finish line, but eh, who cares?

Before you can get to swimming, you notice a dangerously drunk Professor Maple stumbling throughout the beach holding a tray with various drinks she just prepared, a concerned Gareth tries to stop her as she approaches Jeanne and Kali but the Professor assures him that there’s no alcohol in the drinks.

You start to swim as fast as you can, she always manages to awaken some sort of competitivity inside you, and a desire to look cool in front of her.

You are giving it all you got, but once she starts to catch up, you abandon any intention of looking “cool”. Instead of taking strokes like a normal person you channel your inner *Golduck* quacking like a madman as you push your limbs to their limits. You overtake Eli swiftly and manage to finish line before her.

You get out of the water and lean against one of the rocks, panting heavily while you celebrate your victory, rubbing it on Eli’s face, she demands a rematch, but you can’t muster enough force to keep swimming. She climbs on top of one of the smoother rocks, large enough to let the two of you sit for a moment and catch your breath. Because of the rock formation, you can’t see what’s going on with your other friends back at the beach and they probably can’t see you either.

[Eli]: Damn, blondie was right, you got a good pair of legs.

[Percy]: What?

[Eli]: Nothing.

[Eli]: Shit, I wish this kind of moments lasted longer.

[Percy]: What do you mean?

[Eli]: Ya know, when we start getting more badges and battles get more serious, we won’t get many chances to fool around ya know? Gotta get those sponsors, make a name for ourselves, get into the league, all that shit… Then the summer ends and we are back to our shitty everyday lives.

[Eli]: So, I want to enjoy these moments to the fullest. And things are pretty fun when I’m around ya.

You mull over Eli's words for a bit, she sounded strangely melancholic when she mentioned the part about going back to town, you can sympathize with the feeling, You know this adventure won’t last forever, and you know you’ll have to deal with tons of problems in the future, mostly regarding White Veil and the Behemoths. She’s right, you might not get many moments like this later on.

You stare at her for a moment, the girl is sitting by your side. When did she get so close? She looks as bright as ever as she gives you that big, confident grin of hers.

You can’t hold back anymore.

You turn to her, face to face, you slowly approach her, without thinking about the consequences of your actions, moving only on reflex. Eli seems confused at first but after a second, she starts approaching as well. You can feel your heart beating so hard that it might just burst forth from your throat, which would definitely ruin this moment.

Closing your eyes, you slowly and gently plant a kiss on her lips. You can barely taste the saltwater on them. It’s barely a couple of seconds long, but right now it feels so meaningful, it’s not something you’ll forget so easily.

You pull back for a moment, just barely so, waiting for her response. The idea of her hesitating or outright rejecting you makes your heart sink. But she tears away those fears when she leans forward, and her lips met yours once again. This time a bit more forcefully, more intense.

You have no idea of what you are supposed to do here, trying to act out your idea of what a kiss is you keep going slowly, trying to be a gentleman about it.

You keep going, just doing what it feels right. Your lips move a bit awkwardly and slowly, but so does hers. It’s a strange learning experience, but it’s certainly an enjoyable one. As the two of you start getting more comfortable with the act, things start to escalate.

You start slowly caressing her skin, your right-hand passes from the shoulder to her arm, and then slowly moving towards her hips. Your other hand reaches towards her back and pulls her into an embrace, Eli responds by softly biting your lips as the two of you lay down in the smooth rock floor.

As you start to lose yourself in the kiss, wishing it would keep going and going, the act comes to a halt. Eli abruptly stops, pushing herself away from you. You open your eyes and see the girl blushing madly. There are three things in your mind right now, Eli looks beautiful, saltwater has never been so tasty, and you are praying that you don’t have a boner right now.

The two of you make some distance between one another, sitting back on the rock. You said that but you aren’t sure if you can keep true to your words, it feels as if something about your relationship with Eli just changed forever. Even if you tried to go back at being just friend, it would be very difficult to remove these feelings completely.

Once the afterglow of the kiss starts to dwindle you start to notice the things around you, first of all, the rock you two are laying on is actually very uncomfortable, there’s also a pair of Krabby standing on top of another rocky formation complaining about humans using their territory as a place to mate, and are arguing if they should pinch you both or not.

You notice Aleida peeking at the two of you from inside the water. Her mouth agape. Her expression scared and confused. The moment Eli notices her she bolts up and starts to freak out.

And she always manages to incite this fun competitive feel to things, and it pushes you to try and better yourself just a bit. And when things get rough you know she has your back, and she’s fucking fearless taking down giant Hipppowdons for fun. And she tolerates all your weird mannerisms and even listens to you when you start rambling about obscure Poké-trivia because you don’t know how to talk to someone otherwise?

[Percy]: And when she gets close to you, she makes you feel really nervous but the good kind of nervous? And it feels almost impossible to not want to kiss her? And for some unexplainable reason, she feels the same way?

It doesn’t’ take long to arrive back at the beach. And Aleida was right, things are getting out of hand.

Your and Eli’s Pokémon have turned their sandcastles into what you can only call “Sand Fortresses”, they are busy attacking each other constructions, trying to take them down while desperately reinforcing their defenses. Vulpix seems to be leading Kadabra and Loudred against Eli’s mons.

For some reason, she has exiled Prince from her “Sand-Kingdom” so he has taken refugee with Gareth’s team, building their own smaller and weaker faction who are desperately trying to survive the skirmishes. Seeing all of this action, Alexandro the Bagon and the rest of Dick’s team decided to engage as well,

“Alexandro: WE'LL SUBJUGATE ALL THE SMALL KINGDOMS UNDER MY RULE! IM THE ONLY ONE FIT TO BE A KING!”

So they started building their own sand base as well, this small little war seems to be nearing its climax. It’s really curious to see the interest and mannerism that trained mons pick up once they start interacting with human society and culture.

Houndour is currently buried under the sand, only his head is sticking out, he seems surprisingly relaxed, you ask him if he isn’t going to intervene in the all-out war that the mons are cooking up. “Sorry partner, not my problem, at least not for today.” He seems to be pretty calm, good for him.

You see Jeanne gulping down those drinks that Professor Maple prepared, and boy, she’s going HARD on them and she looks like a mess, a drunk, sobbing, emotional mess. Kali is keeping her company, drinking as well, albeit a bit more calmly, but she’s clearly more unhinged than usual. And Richard seems to be about to join her unless you stop this right now.

There’s also a somber-looking Gareth who’s still working the grill, there’s a hint of guilt in his expression as if he felt responsible for this whole shitshow, he has the look of a defeated man.
By his side and even drunker and uninhibited Professor Maple is preparing more drinks.

To have a girl like Eli be okay with sharing her partner with anyone would go against what she's been established to be all about, how she was raised. She's a tomboy with a punkish dress sense but she's responsible, chaste and safe as fuck, in just this beach episode she admitted to not liking or wanting this thing with Percy to just be some hormonal teen summer fling, she also doesn't care for the underage drinking going on and this is just from this thread alone, going through any other you can see more and more of Eli and how she carries herself. To even think Eli would be okay with polygamy is so far removed from reality that it can't even be considered wishful thinking.

Aleida is socially inept and doesn't even seem to understand the bare minimum of cues or even care at all for romance, she seems like the Goku type that's unable to tell the difference between familial love and romantic love. Ankhati is also ready to battle, he’s on a payroll after all and he gets bonuses every time he performs well in battle.

It’s surprising how well a Cacnea has adapted himself to capitalism.

Mareep finally arrives with Jeanne’s backpack, she takes out two Pokéballs from it and releases her combatants. A Mismagius and a Litwick. The pair of ghosts seem enthralled by their freedom at first, but they become noticeably worried once they notice Jeanne severely drunken state. They try to ask their caretaker if she’s alright, but she tells them that they only need to worry about winning this battle!

It's hard to predict it all without knowing specifics and each 'mon's current movesets, but...

Cacnea heavily favor offense over defence, with a decent split between direct physical attack and special attacks. If Dick's somehow taught it Sandstorm, it can probably use its natural affinity for sandy conditions to boost its evasion... And if it knows Feint Attack it can make it really hurt.

Gallade on the other hand is way ahead due to being in its final evolved form, so it's strong, fast, and has awesome MIND BULLETS.

Unfortunately... Jeanne's got fucking GHOSTS. The major issue is that Zoroaster eats complete shit against Ghost moves and Litwick's Fire Spin (which it usually learns at a pretty low level) is going to be nasty for Ankhati, and ditto for its Flame Body if it has it - Feint Attack is Ankhati's hardest hitter here if he has it, but he risks getting burned if it lands. Immunity to Normal and Fighting type moves might also be an issue, but meh.

The big thing Dick's team has going is that they train regularly and Jeanne's doesn't. Hell, it sounds like they don't even get to leave their balls very often. Mismagius is probably the higher level of the two, but in terms of raw stats and level the advantage is almost certainly Dick's. One well-placed Fire Spin from Litwick (again, if it knows it) can pretty much trap Ankhati in a really bad spot, so it's basically going to boil down to how heavily Zoroaster out-stats Mismagius - if the gap is too wide, his Special Defense might be able to hold up against her Ghost attacks long enough to beatstick her with a couple of well-placed Psychic moves. And Arceus forbid either of the ghosties know Curse, holy shit.

Oh, and there's a chance that Zoroaster can one-shot Litwick if the lil guy is low-level enough, which basically leaves Dick's team free to roflstomp Mismagius with pretty much whatever they feel like. And since Gallade will almost definitely win the initiative here... It basically boils down to how drunk Dick actually is. DAT ALCOHOL META THO.

You decide to ignore the drunken trash talk going on between your friends and instead focus on giving your full attention to this battle, analyzing every little detail of the battler’s mons before they even launch the first attack. Dick’s team seems more focused and ready for the fight. Ankhati is wearing a set of *BLACK GLASSES* while Zoroaster is equipped with a Quick Claw.

But Jeanne’s mons seems more decided, they look ready to do anything for their caretaker. They seem a bit older in age than Dick’s mons, they probably spent a good deal of time as wild mons before they ended up in Jeanne’s care.

Once the battle begins you start to analyze and breakdown every single movement and attack that the mons do.

Dick is still seething and wants to end this fight as soon as possible, opting for a more aggressive approach he commands Zoroaster to strike first with a *Night Slash* aimed at Mismagius whom him considers the biggest threat, nonetheless, the Ghost-type is zippy and manages to easily avoid the Gallade’s blade, her movements are quick and precise

Mismagius retaliates by screeching in pain, as she sacrifices her health to *Curse* the Gallade. Ankhati strikes at Mismagius with an unavoidable *Feint Attack* lowering her health to a critical state, the strike from the Cacnea’s limb sends her straight into the sand.

Litwick uses *Confuse Ray* on Ankhati, the flame on his head starts shining brightly, flickering on and off making the Cacnea dizzy.

Zoroaster feels the effects of the *Curse* taking its toll on him.

This time, Mismagius moves faster than Zoroaster, using *Pain Split* on Ankhati to recover some health while sapping a good portion of the Cacnea’s life force.

Dick curses at this turn of events and decides that it’s time to take her seriously.

He tells Zoroaster to wait for a “certain kill” the Gallade nods and seemingly vanishes away with a *teleport* before appearing behind Mismagius and delivering a nasty *Night Slash* to her neck, knocking her out, and then teleporting back to safety. This little trick seems to have taken a toll on the Gallade as he seems a bit disoriented after doing it, more open to attacks and a bit slower.

Ankhati tries to start up a *Sandstorm* to increase his evasion, but he hurts himself in its confusion, Litwick uses this chance to trap him into a *Fire Spin* and damaging him even further, the Cacnea is unable to approach Litwick without burning itself, as the heath saps even more of its health away sending him into a near-critical state.

Zoroaster is once again hurt by the *Curse* placed on him, he moves onto the Litwick to finish him off with another normal *Night Slash*, it’s a nasty slash but it’s not strong enough to knock him out in a single strike! As the Gallade’s blades tears trough Litwick wax body and Ankhati prepares a *Dark Pulse* to finish off his opponent without having to approach him Jeanne tries to tell his mon to bet everything on *Flame Burst* hoping to knock out Zoroaster and that the “splash damage” is enough to defeat Ankhati.

But she chokes on her words before she can give the command. Jeanne starts to puke mid-sentence. Kali lets her go as Jeanne falls to her knees. The confused Cacnea manages to use *Dark Pulse* and finishes off the Litwick.

Richard approaches the defeated girl, who’s pathetically whimpering in the sand.

[Dick]: I underestimated your team, and that almost cost me my victory. Next time I won’t be so naive.

[Dick]: I recognize your Pokémon’s strength but still, you are lacking as a trainer! Keep that in mind next time you try to challenge a BLACKSTONE to a fight.

Jeanne just keeps crying unintelligibly, apologizing to her mons for being such a failure of a trainer. While she heals them with some Revives and Potions.

[Kali]: Richard, leave her alone! Can’t you see she’s not doing alright? Just piss off.

[Dick]: I’m just teaching her a lesson.

[Kali]: I said FUCK OFF!

As the words come out of Kali’s mouth Dick’s spirits crumble away, he earned his victory, but at what cost? While Kali takes Jeanne back to the villa to clean herself off a depressed Dick goes to sit near the beach.

Jeanne definitely needs comforting more than Dick does, but we are sorely underequipped to deal with female, emotionally volatile, AND drunk, especially when we are at least some part of what has Jeanne twisted up. Gotta pick your battles yo. Besides, if Dick can apologize, and acknowledge her battling when she's in a condition that she can accept it, it might do her some good anyway. So for now:

Maybe Jeanne needs more help right now, but you feel WAY underprepared to deal with her drunken, aggressive self. You hope Kali can help her out, wait, why is Kali helping her anyways?

Instead, you decide to go get a pair of burgers and then approach Dick who’s sulking by his lonesome near the water. Maybe you can help him realize how he screwed up and maybe they can mend things once everyone calmed down.
You offer one of the burgers to the boy and he takes it disinterestedly, he starts biting into it quite aggressively, unloading his frustration into his food.

You hear someone steps getting closer and closer to you, you figured it was one of your friends approaching you, but you were mistaken. Standing before you, a young man, taller and older, one of his eyes looks a bit swollen up. He sports a face of contempt towards you and Dick. If it were any other person you are sure that would have been enough to get your friend hostile and defending, but he doesn’t seem to know how to deal with him, Words try to escape from his mouth, but nothing comes out. He just froze right there.

[Maximillian]: I figured this “should’ve been abortion” would be staying on his villa so I decided to pay him a visit, maybe ruin his day a little bit.

After a while, it seems like things have returned to normal-ish.

The Pokémon have finished their little game of war that they had going on, your team and Eli's setting on a truce after dealing with Prince's and Alexandro's factions.

In your absence, it seems like Eli and Aleida hit it off. Aleida is impressed by the way Eli's mons seem to have so much trust for their trainer. They are also competing in arm wrestling for some reason.

Gareth is still working the grill, fixing some food for all the hungry mons, Professor Maple is nowhere in sight, Gareth carried her drunk ass back inside the villa so she could get some rest and not cause more trouble.
