Hey guys, testing to see if my (undeserved) ban is over already.

A chemical engineer and fa/t g/uy in his mid 30's dies during a plane crash. His favorite d20 survives and lands in a natural 20, and the guy is reborn with his memories in a fantasy world which runs on old JRPG rules, similar to Final Fantasy Tectics, Disgaea or Ogre Tactics. Currently in its... 4th? 5th year? More?

Anyway, turns out the gods set this world like that so the inhabitants would be way tougher and smarter than normal beings had a right to be. They did that because this world acts as a bottleneck between the multiverse and the vollective multiverse of choices the gods did not take, like a bunch of quantum theories gone stupid.

Everything that 'could have been' is trying to break into what actually is, and this world is in the way. These invaders are simply known as [ERROR]s, either because their 'name' can't actually be pronounced by the 'system' and thus it comes out like that, or maybe that's their name? Its never been explained.

The MC is aaaaaalmost a legal adult now at at 15 (he's two months short) and engaged to several love interests at the same time. He's also running an XCOM-like project to try to understand/stop the [ERROR]s

Right now we're just three weeks short of the [ERROR]s main invasion dropping a huge ass multiverse-sized wave of monsters on top of his family fortress, and we've been working to reinforce the defenses as much as possible.

There's also a civilization-like subplot going on, but its pretty much in the background since all the leaders of all the countries that 'matter' in that race are our friends so we win no matter who achieves their victory condition first, though I'm not sure if the players have a favorite in that race.

Anyway, let's start (though its well past the time we normally end the thread for the day. I dont know what timezone you are in, but normally it starts 10 hours before this time, give or take 20 minutes, and ends 3 hours and 22 minutes ago)

Lets hope other players spot the thread by tomorrow so I can read the chosen options and go with that.

After kissing Ren, it takes a while before our beautiful young empress lets go of our hands and averts her eyes.

"We will not meet like this again." - she says gently, sounding as if she was declaring the world's death

Well, we just spent the night together for the first... perhaps the last time? We will marry her sister soon, and...

Ah before I go, just mentioning that the large silos we recommended to build in Mantequira and Alquia are done, so food prices in both regions are much more stable now since food can be stored safely for much longer, and so the people is less vulnerable to 1 or 2 bad harvest seasons
>>

>>>We love them both

"Perhaps we will." - we reply politely and lean in to kiss her again before leaving

Well, we do have an island with no settlements on it, which means noone will see what happens there. We were planning on having a lot of family and friend meeting there for various celebrations anyway...

*cough*

After leaving her side, we [Treestride] back to Albion university. With time zones in mind, it should be almost lunch time, and knowing our kitty imouto and friends there, they probably have a thing or two to report on the 'bionic' [ERROR] we captured during the island attack.

"Fufufu~" - our lovely redhead chuckles softly as she walks holding our hand
"What is it?" - we ask, feeling a little warm in the face
"You both looked so cute. It was like a pink novel, I think." - she replies with a smile
"L-lyann, you meanie!"

Ah, its the first time we get flustered enough to have a role reversal, isn't it? We'll have to get her for it later. Yup, our revenge will come swift and terrible, but she won't until she begs for it! Definitively!

"Fuuu~ that expression... Master is thinking of something naughty." - she is still smiling
"..."

We walk quietly by her side until reaching the university lab, and are quickly approached by Portia.

She is wearing her school uniform under a long, custom-made lab coatm and holding a board with plenty of focuments on it with one hand.

"Brother Eldric, you are late!" - she chides us gently, and hands us the documents
"Thank you." - we accept it and start reading through it

It looks like the mechanical parts of the new [ERROR] drone are rather... crudely attached. Hooks and wire bite into 'flesh' in effective but simple ways.

Well, we know they have a very primitive nervous system, but is this evidence of an absense of pain?

Still, the fact that the connections are crude doesn't means they're flimsy. On the opposite, they're quite sturdy and it would be hard to disrupt the mechanisms and connections between flesh and machine.

Well, if we can cripple their limbs, we can take our time striking at their helplessly flailing bodies, after all.

Now let's see... for now, lets ask our people to do exams to determine the material composition of their implants, or get as close as they can. The worst case scenario would be where they are using a completely unknown material.

I mean, these things come from a completely different universe, after all, so the possibility exists. But at the same time, they have to use a material that can still maintain coherence under our own world's laws of existence, so to speak, so it can't be anything too outlandish.

Acid, oxidification, material resonance, material exhaustion, material inestability, tension, etc. Let's start by finding out what we are dealing with before picking a way of attack.

"I'm sorry Portia, but could you please make finding out wxactly what their implants are made from into a high priority research?"

After all, it is a material that can go into battle here and in their own universe. It may be worth to copy, if nothing else.

"Yes. Understood."

We walk into the lab with her, and help until lunch time.

Don't think that means a long time, though. It was close to lunch time when we arrived, to begin with.

Uhm... we're in a time zone close enough to Alquia's, that we could go 'home' to Mako and have lunch with her.

I should have been checking more regularly.

So right now we have:
1. Get that Dungeon Faerie in that Bastion Dungeon
2. Spoil Stella and Zoe more
3. Remember to help Okaba’s cousins back to Heven after they’ve enjoyed hospitality in Mantequira.
4. Talk with our dragons about what metals they like to eat and how it can affect their babies
5. Make sure our Pets are keeping up the XP grinding rotation
6. Learn more about the Lightbringer Keep and all of the civilization bonuses our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were too incompetent to build.
7. Build more Language Squares (after catching some more examples of Monsters, of course)
8. Build additional Hiveships.

You know, I live in Arica, Chile. The closest chilean city is Iquique. I just got news that Iquique's saltpeter deposit at the docks is in flames. It was pretty interesting to find out that its for storing it as it is imported into the country... before WWII, Chile was the source for 90% of the saltpeter in the world, and 1 chilean peso was wort 12 US dollars. The Nazi got blockaded, resource-wise, so they invented artificial replacements (which btw are bad for the land, buy natural saltpeter, gardeners of the world!), and so its value dropped so hard that WE chileans now import it instead of mining it, because that's cheaper...

Anyway, back to the thread. I just thought it was interesting. Kind of like if Australia was importing koalas, I guess.

***

We go back to the Alquian palace, and right away notice one of the young local shadows looking at us from above, standing with ease on the canopy of the tree we always use to [Treestride].

Ah, this one has a staff with metal... wait, would you call that a double spear? Its a staff with a spear head at both ends...

Anyway, I don't think we are familiar with this one. She is wearing a bright and short blue uniform that looks like a mix between a robe and a bodysuit, with black inner folds, and her hair is pulled up into a large, tight bum on the top of her head.

She is holding from the branch with both feet and from the adjacent tree trunk with her tail, her arms relaxed by her sides. As expected from a monkey beastkin, right? She looks quite comfortable.

"Yes, your lordship." - she replies calmly, and jumps off to another and another branch.

Finally, she runs along a branch the thickness of our arm as surely as if it was a road, and jumps off, doing a mid air flip to gain thrust before landing on a balcony.

S-should we have that branch cut off? I mean, that's definitively a security risk, isnt it!? That's clearly a security risk, isn't it!? That someone can just jump off a tree and get into the palace like that, that has to count as a security risk!

>Lets
>Lets not

By the time we arrive at the dining room... its empty. Well, knowing Mako, she's probably eating in her room, isn't she? Lets just quietly go there.

***

Indeed, our cute and beautiful empress is waiting for us at the head of a low table loaded with treats. She beams us a smile as we enter, and waits for us to greet her.

There's Mako at the table's head, flanked by Dawn in the light and short local version of a maid's uniform by her side. Our beautiful Alquian empress is wearing a light but long, light pink gown that leaves her shoulders exposed and shows what would be a very generous amount of cleavage if it wasn't for the white silk undershirt beneath it. Her hair cascades freely behind her, with five very small pearls hanging from it.

Rather than gaudy clothing and jewelry trying to compensate for the flaws of their wearer, simple ornaments and clothing do a fantastic job to make their wearer's beauty stand out, after all.

As we bow and greet her upon entering, Mako looks at us and pouts a little, then returns our greeting and gestures for us to sit by her side.

Eh... it seems she was displeased with our ceremony, but well... she's an empress now, so we really should be polite inside the palace, right?

"Fuu~" - we can hear Lyann sigh behind us

She seems to have moved slightly to give Mako a much more casual greeting, and made her smile a little bit.

It can't be helped, you know? We're a government officer, you know!?

"Eldric, I missed you..." - our empress says at last when we sit by her side, and reaches out to hold our hand

We ligt her small hand and kiss her fingers, then start talking with her through lunch.

From what she tells us, an eastern city had sent a commision to ask for independence, but ended up asking for a rockitship dockyard instead, as well as a renegotiation of tariffs on imports and exports, so she wants us to take a look at that before we leave again.

Alright, let's do some work for a change...

After enjoying our lunch with Dawn, Lyann and Mako, we head over to the office... come think about it, we didn't see Sykia. I guess our pet succubus had lunch at work today.

Scarcely a few hours have passed, and we had already read everything on the eastn city of Zalada. It is placed on the windswept hills next to the massive swamp region that covers most of the continent's souteast, and as such has always had unique products and problems.

Sitting at the very edge of the desert, it enjoys of all-year-round warm and dry climate, but the nearby swampland is full of mosquitoes and pests. That very same swamp however, also has unique plants (both monstrous and normal) which make for most of the city's income, so drying any area means a loss in revenue.

Thus, draining swampland isn't really an option. Perhaps we could do some pest control instead?

At the same time, the local dungeons were quite varied in their environments, since those on the west side of town had a desert environment full of sand, stone and fire monsters, but the eastern ones had water elementals, plant and reptiles.

Overall, the sity is truly a hotpot of different products and resources.

It has a head count-based tax instead of an income tax, so large families tend to have a harder time. At the same time, the poor have to pay the exact same tax as the wealthy, and while there's a robust education and merchant system in place, the local healthcare is pretty much inexistent.

Well, with the local budget, we can only implement changes in little bit, so for now...

>Lets switch to an income tax system
>Lets stablish a state-owned hospital
>Lets look into pest control
>Other
>>
>>3597577
>Lets switch to an income tax system
>Other: Pest Control - ask Miel and Banou, Johari, Nalah (the three Jungle Honey Faeries we made into our Pets) about creating another outpost of the Miel Hegemony at Zalada, perhaps using the Jungle Faeries to create it.
Can we do both, or only one?
>>
>>3597603
Sounds feasible. I meant "with the government budget, we can only do one". But if we send our faeries, it wouldnt use government budget.

I can sort of imagine the honey faery soldiers fighting off bug monsters now... Ah, well, the jungle faeries are better suited for it, anyway, so delicious brown faery amazons fighting monsters, then.
>>
>>3597614
I was thinking of sending Fleur and more of the Plants we captured, but then they'd eat EVERYTHING.
>>
>>3597627
And we do need them to help reinforce the Keep and Eopolis for the final assault, too... Well, the new Demon Thorn Faery Queen(s) were sort of an unexpected bonus, so I guess that we could send one to Zalada?
>>
>>3597636
I meant Thorny Queen Demoness(es), my bad. Its been a while indeed
>>
>>3597636
But they first need training to learn not to eat everything, like we needed to do with Fleur.

For reinforcing the Keep and Eopolis, we should send Fleur, Delphi, and Violetta. Fleur can coordinate as the three put down seeds.
>>
>>3597661
Wait, I thought they were still Queens and not Demoness yet?

This is the message we got:
>[You have caught a new [Thorn Faery Queen]. Yould you like to assign a name to your new pet? Y/N]
>>

>Wait, I thought they were still Queens and not Demoness yet?
Right. Like I said, it's been a while, sorry.

>>3597666
>But they first need training to learn not to eat everything, like we needed to do with Fleur.
And yeah I was thinking this too. We can -probably- count on Fleur, but need to supervise the others
>>
But still, I'm looking forward to delicious brown Amazon faeries once we grind them to Level 100.

But don't forget we have to go back to Bastion to get that Dungeon Faery out.
And a lot of other minor projects/lewd things to do with our fiancee's and Pets, like refining their milk.
>>
>>3597913
Yeah but the last time i posted lewds, i got banned for a month, remember? Even though it was a pdf... well, the reason i got for the ban wasnt related to it at all, though, it was some ISP stuff I really didn't understand, but since it was on a day there were like 12 guests where I live at, I want to think one of them did something, and not that the mods just went SJWoke on me and pulled a bullshit excuse out of their asses to cover it up.

I guess lewds will be uploaded elsewhere and I'll just link to those sites... well, if that still gets me banned, I guess we can start blaming the mods in the future.

Anyway, so, send Fleur and other faeries to stablish a honey faery colony there, or send who?
>>
>>3598021
I was thinking of sending the three Jungle Faeries that were originally about to start their own new hive before being captured.
For support, send Lyra and the 3 Golems we have.
>>
>>3598060
why the golems? Anyway, let's wait until we have a post from our other long time player and we'll go with that I think
>>
>>3598069
Using automatons would help against monsters who would use swamps as a home, as those tend to have status ailment attacks, since they're bugs.
>>
>>3598021
What if you just write the embarrassed reactions of the girls when we milk them?
We need to remember to properly milk Aritsu and Lyann, and I want to milk Miel, Kya, the Succubus Elder (I think we suggested Nadir as her name), then refine their milk to see if they can give us bonuses.

Dawn's milk is already good as a mana potion, so that's fine.

>>3602888
Oh, the Integrated Hive Ship of the Future for the Miel Hegemony?
I though this was going to be just a regular Jungle Faery Hive to keep the pests from the swamp under control.

I would feel bad for the Jungle Faeries that has finally grown up enough to be able to start their own hives, only to never be allowed to start one.

I wanted to send Johari to be the Faerie Queen of the Zalada Hive.
>>
>>3602962
That's fine to me, but they produce a lot less than regular honey faeries, so it'll be hard for them to grow. Hunters vs farmers, I guess.

They would indeed be quite successful at hunting low level pests in high numbers, though.
>>
>>3602976
We can help to promote growth by making it safer so that there are less losses among the Jungle Faeries, and maybe supplementing their food supply with supply runs from a dungeon or something.

Not sure if we can promote an increased birthrate, but that'd be something to look into.
>>
We spend the evening working in our office.

It feels a little regretful that the leather in our chair smells of new... we really haven't worked much here, have we?

Lyann left mid-evening after giving us a kiss, saying she wanted to work on her thesis' final bits, though Aritsu walked in after she left.

Eh... are they taking turns now? We've had plenty of three-way fun already, though... *cough*

"President, you have been busy." - she greets us with a smile and walks over, waiting for our greeting
"Ah... yes." - well, we were busily ensuring the next generation of the Empire's royal line... there's no way we can say so with a straight face.

After pulling her in for a little kiss, we work with her to review the new tax policy.

It seems her homeland also uses the head tax system... come think about it, Ren's empire uses a income system as well, but which system does the Protectorate and the other members of the alliance use?

"Can you please bring me some tax law books from the archives?" - we ask Aritsu as we fail to find any reference to it in our office's shelf
"Tax law..."

I knew it. Looks like Yellowleaves doesn't has a unified tax law either. Well, they're a medieval society, for the most part.

Alquia was a colony of the Empire, so they should use the same tax system, right?

"Won't the nobles and the ricj merchants oppose this way of tax?" - asks our beautiful elven princess as soon as we are done explaining
"Aren't they the absolute minority? Plus, if they are really resolute on sticking to the hierarchical system of feudalism, what the ruler says, goes, doesn't it?"
"...that's how a riot gets started. A ruler can't just push his or her own will around without fear of repercussion. Well... perhaps Ren could..."

That's right, Ren's people practically deify her... well, the empire already uses an income-based tax system to begin with.

And thankfully, it looks like the Alquian empire does as well, as we find out after asking a clerk in archives for all tax-related codes and regulations.

But, the tax fees are heavier for the common folk. Not by much, but enough to make a difference.

That's why, after going back to the office and reading on the local tax code, we...

>Look for older versions of the tax codes

>Other
>>

>Look for older versions of the tax codes
We should look at why the taxes on the common folk became heavier.
>>
>>3608172

From what we can see, the taxes were modified quite recently, as far as the ages of countries go. Shortly after the death of the last empress, in fact.

Looking around, we can find a leather-bounc tome. This is the personal diary of the previous vizir.

Looking for related dates... it was a measure pushed by the nobles in order to help fund the 'War of Reclamation", as the Gryphon's War is locally known.

That was the war our father and grandfather fought in, whose final battles happened just 6 years ago, right?

The nobles wanted to recapture the "rebel colonies", but didn't want to pay for it themselves.

There are plenty of comments from the vizir, showing how he was against the war to begin with, but just like Aritsu mentioned, a ruler can't completely ignore the opinions of the wealthy and powerful. Well, we do know that he conspíred to get most of those nobles and their troops killed in the battlefield, though.

"Most" being a keyword here.

It seems there are three nobles of the old guard who still remain in power, and have continuously presented 'emergencies and crisis' one after the other in order to justify the continuation of current taxing policies, basically implying that the wealthy business owners would leave for better pastures if the tax were to affect them...

Wait, aren't they just super classical small-time villains trying to opress the people for their own gain? The merchants don't even seem to be involved at all.

After thinking about it for a while, we decide to leave it up to Mako after explaining the situation to her, without trying to influence her decision.

"I think she'll just go 'Yes, alright", however?" - Aritsu says with a little smile
"Because I'm the one saying so?" - we look at her with a frown
"Because it sounds like the nice thing to do." - she says, and then sinks our mood again - "And because you say so."
"Uuu~"

When we entered the royal bedchamber later that same day, we found that Mako was already dressed for bed, wearing a long but thin, soft-looking white gown with no adornments except for a little of black lace on its lower edge. It just barely showed a little bit of her shoulders, and the tip of her toes.

"Eldric, welcome... home." - she greeted us with a smile
"I'm home."

We walk over and give her a little kiss. Since she was the first to greet us and skipped ceremony this time, it would have been rude to fall back on it now.

She has a small pile of documents next to her, and a cat-tall pile of letters next to it.
