Your name is Solomon and you are a servant currently serving Vivi D’roix. In the last thread, you went to class and Mrs. Alabaster taught a lesson different types of Ancient Magic. Afterward, you went to Marcie's room and learned about her mother who died giving birth to her. You listened to her sing a song created by her mother and then taught her how to fish. After the fishing lesson, Marcie asked you to be her date for the upcoming event. Roland asked you to be a lookout for a fight with Hilda, but you compromised with him to do it at a later time.

You helped Vivi gain more confidence in herself for her date with Charles. Did a key lesson with Mercedes and learned [Enhanced Sight](Beginner). After the key lesson, you spoke with the headmaster regarding the vial that you took from the Blue Moon. When you went to sleep you had a nightmare. Upon waking up you finally introduce Marcie and Vivi and said that you were going to eat lunch with her. You ate breakfast and made some small talk with Charles.

>Focus on your meal, just make small talk

You decide to follow along with Vivi’s example and focus on eating your food. While you eat Charles asks you how your day was yesterday.

“Not much happened. Went to class, spent some time with Marcie and then ate dinner with Mercedes.” You say shrugging your shoulders.

Charles nods his head and delves back into his food. Vivi and Mercedes are speaking to each other about their favorite animals, but their conversation soon becomes more muddled along with other conversations happening in the dining hall. While you eat your food, you find it somewhat difficult to focus on a person’s conversation, as the dining hall seemingly grows louder. Looking up from your breakfast you see that the usual population of students who eat breakfast in the dining hall has grown. Eventually, you finish your meal and the rest of the table are cleaning themselves up preparing to go to class.

“I wonder where Caren is…” Vivi says as she gets up from the table.

“I’m sure we’ll see her in class Vivi. See you later sweetie!” Mercedes says.

“I’ll see you sometime after classes Saul,” Vivi says leaving you behind following Mercedes.

Charles gives a slight nod to you as he leaves the dining hall as well. There are several other students taking their time to eat their breakfast that they were provided. Though classes will be starting soon for them and they’ll be late.

>Go to the Library

As you walk through the hallways towards the library the warning bell rings causing some of the students that were eating in the dining hall to rush quickly towards their classes, though there are some students who are leisurely walking towards their class without a care in the world. Nearing the library there are students who are being asked to leave by an elderly lady.

“Please go to class now students, unless you have a note signed by your professor.” The elderly lady says as she orders the students who leave the library. As you near the entrance she glances in your direction, before turning her head back towards the hallway. She doesn’t stop you as you enter the library, due to being dressed as a servant most likely.

From what you can remember from your previous visit to the library, the first floor contains books history, gardening, alchemy, nobility, graphic novels, and cooking. The second floor has books concerning more of the academic of the school, math, languages, science, and the section regarding magic is larger due to the various subjects. The elderly lady comes up from behind you.

“Do you need any help in finding something?” The elderly lady asks.

“No, thank you. I have an idea of what I’m looking for.”

“Well alright. We don’t get many servants who come by the library, especially one as young as yourself. If you need any help finding something or checking out, I’ll be at the front desk reading my drama.” The elderly lady says as she walks away.

Seeing the lady walk away you head to the upper part of the library where you find Marcie previously hiding amongst a stack of books. Several of them from the previous day are still lying on the table. Near the table, there is are shelves of books labeled “Generalization of Magic Studies” . Walking down the aisle, you grab several books at random before bringing them to sit at the nearby table. Looking over the title of the books that you gathered:

>"Basic Spells for Dummies"

You grab the Basic Spells for Dummies book and set the other two aside. You open the thin book to the first few pages as it begins to speak about a brief history of magic and how to use it. The introduction of the book says that readers should be able to understand how to use the spell based on the explanation without the use of a chant. You skim over the book on its explanation of how to use fire & water magic to the section about air.

Air is something that is always around us. Its what we breathe, what we feel, it’s a strange invisible force of nature that impacts our everyday lives. Learning how to use the air around you can help your everyday tasks in life. As you’ve read in the preface & introduction of this book, try to pull on the magical energies of your surroundings to concentrate the air around your body. If done correctly you should be feeling air flowing around your body. Nearby smaller items may be carried along with it. Don’t be discouraged, the more you practice the better you get. If you need help, try to find a friend or family member for help.

>[1/3]?
>>
The next section of the book speaks about the next element "earth".

Continuing on with the forces of nature that surround is the earth. While magic may be able to create certain things, create earth is not one of them. It’s more along the lines of shifting the earth to your will. Some scholars have suggested changing the name of the [Create Earth] spell to [Change of Earth] due to when using the spell, the ground below you moves and shapes to how you want it. Oddly casting this spell requires the user to have some physical strength, unlike other spells, the reason for it is unknown. Though some scholars believe that if you had the strength to pick up a large boulder, you should have equal strength to move something of the same weight. Nonetheless, those who implement earth magic into their routine lives can find jobs in architecture, bodyguards, or professions that require heavy lifting. We recommend reading “Earth Magic for Dummies vol.1” for more information. In order to create earth, go outside. Spread your legs out and bend a knee. Try to gather your magical energy in your arms and push a small chunk of dirt from upwards. If you feel confident and are finding success in your practice, try to jut a larger amount. Use the pictures provided as reference.

>[2/3]
>>
You skip past the section on light, as you already know it from your lesson with the Occult Club.

As you read in the previous section of how to create light, dark is the least commonly known due to its controversial uses in the world. In the past dark has been found to be used to commit crimes, such as stealing, assassination, etc. There are not many known spells compared to the other elements, but a commonly used spell that we will teach is how to cast a shadow to cover a small area. Casting this spell is harder to cast and practice than the rest of the spells in this book, as well as its practical use is limited. To begin with, casting this spell we recommend to not to perform it in a well-lit location. As said in the preface/introduction pull on the magical energies around you to move a nearby shadow towards your location. If there are no shadows nearby results may vary, a successful cast is covering your designated area with a shadow. The density of the darkness varies depending on the caster and the location designated.

The book recommends you locate “x magic for Dummies Vol. 1” to continue with your study/practice in the magical arts. You close the book and look over downstairs to the old lady leisurely reading her drama. She seems to busy to notice anything that you may do. With the book in hand you, and being upstairs you may be able to practice some of the magic that was explained to you inside. Though [Create Earth] doesn’t seem possible currently.

>"The Evolution and Types of Ancient Magic Uses"

You set the Basic Spells for Dummies book aside and grab the much thicker book on The Evolution and Types of Ancient Magic Uses. You skim through the introduction of the book explaining what ancient magic is and how to find it.

If your reading this you are probably curious about different types of ancient magic, or you want to know more about how ancient magic has been used throughout recent history. Well to start off this chapter is mostly a small summary with a few given examples on ancient magic that both have evolved and lost their use. Some types of ancient magic are found at what could be considered their “base form”. It's up to the user or owner of the ancient magic to change or even expand on what it could be used for. For example, the household by the name of “Weppler” had ancient magic that was passed around in their family known as [Salt Sweeper]. By the name you may be guessing it gave the user to sweep salt away or brush away things the size of salt. The Weppler family revealed it as the ability to remove salt entirely from a substance.

They gained their fortune by stepping outside gathering salt from an ocean…and you guessed it. Getting rid of the salt and filtering any other foul substance to create fresh drinking water easily. Sadly, there was a break-in their household one day and a man who is known by “Vano Vinsant” stole their ancient magic tome, and gained the ability to use [Salt Sweeper] as well. Though he did not use it, to clean water, but rather to remove the salt from his victims in the value of 'quick money'. He was eventually caught, but the tome was destroyed by the Wepplers in fear that they may have been robbed again. The original use was to clean water and gain profit, while someone else used it for more heinous acts. This could be considered a form of “evolution of ancient magic and its uses”. If you ever come across ancient magic think deeply about what it could do. You may just be able to do more than you think.

For some reason, the book continues to speak on the Wepplers before it begins on another explanation. Looking at a nearby clock on the wall you can tell that Vivi’s classes will be over soon and that it will be nearly time for lunch with Marcie. You could spend more time reading or bring food with you and go to her room early before she arrives.

You close the book adding it to the stack of books on the table. You get up from your chair and make your way to the lower floor of the library empty-handed. It’s better if you spend time finishing your current book with Marcie before you check out another one.

“Leaving so soon? Will you be checking out anything?" the old lady asks you from the desk.

“It’s been a couple of hours, and have other duties to attend to. I won’t be checking out anything.”

The lady looks at a nearby clock. “Oh yes. It has been a couple of hours now, hasn’t it? I get so lost in my dramas that I forget how much time has passed, especially between breaks when other students are not here. You have a good day now dearie.”

“You to Madam.” You bow to the lady before leaving the library towards the dining hall.

Entering the dining hall’s kitchen there are several servants running about gathering and wrapping food up for their masters/mistresses. With many students choosing to go to the performance today; many are choosing to eat in their rooms before preparing to leave the academy. You walk towards an unclaimed part of the kitchen and prepare a few sandwiches for you and Marcie. Wrapping them in plastic wrap. As you carry them out you notice that some of the servants are pointing at a large hole in the ground near the breakroom. You walk towards the hole and notice that there is a step ladder leading downwards, you can’t see the bottom.

“I’ll send a maintenance request to the headmaster.” One of the servants says.

You shrug your shoulders and go to Marcie’s room. As she said from the previous night, she keeps her door unlocked for easier entrance. You open the doorknob and enter her empty room. Her window is open letting in a cool breeze into the room. There is sheet music strewn about on the floor, along with some of her clothing. Her bed isn’t made either, the last time you were inside her room was cleaner minus the sheets on the floor. You drag a chair to the nearby open window and gaze outside for a moment. There is still sometime before she is released from her classes. On her nightstand, there is a small book, along with a pencil. You think it perhaps may be something that she writes her notes inside of or a journal perhaps.

Getting up from your seat you move over to her bed placing the pillows in the correct place. Then tucking in her sheets into her mattress. After you flatten the sheets of her bed you move on to the paper on the floor. You find some difficulty in organizing the papers in the proper order, but thankfully you notice the small roman numerals on the bottom right of it. You place the papers under her small book using it as a light paperweight in case a strong breeze comes from the open window. Moving on you gather the clothing on the floor, unsure if it's appropriate for you to be smelling them for signs of dirtiness you place them inside of a nearby hamper.

“Oh. You're already here.” You hear Marcie say from the front of her door. You turn around quickly sliding in a small bra into the hamper and close it before she notices avoiding any awkward conversations.

“Yes. You told me it was alright to come into your room. By the way, where is Hiren?” you ask.

Marcie pauses at your words before stepping fully into her room. As she gazes around you take notice of her clothing. She is wearing a fully black uniform, along with matching shoes. Around her shoulder is a black tote bag. Her pink hair seems to have taken a darker tone since this morning, causing it to not clash with her darker choice of clothing.

“Did you clean my room while I was away?”

[1/2]
>>
“When I came in earlier, I noticed that your room was in a disarray. Out of habit I organized and cleaned it up. I’m sorry if you didn’t want it clean.”

“No. It's fine that you cleaned it. Saves me the trouble of doing it myself.” Marcie sets her bag on the chair by the window. Then turns to you with her hands behind her back. “I was going to clean it up myself before you came but seeing as you are already here…” Marcie comes pauses for a moment not sure as what to say.

“Thank you, Saul. I appreciate you cleaning my room. I came back to my room late last night. I was going to clean it up in the morning then forgot. If you can before we eat, I want to show you something. Can you sit on my b-bed?” Marcie's voice stutters as her feet shuffle from side to side nervously.

Doing as you're told you sit on her bed, unsure as to what her intentions are. She climbs on her bed as well sitting next to you. You notice that there is a bright thin purple book in her hands.

“I’m not sure why you wanted this, but I asked Mrs. Alabaster for extra work in exchange to allow me to borrow this.” Marcie hands you the purple book. The cover is rather simple, but as it slips into your hands it changes from a bright purple to a dark red. The cover of the book says [Chromatic Styles]. Hiren won’t be joining us for lunch today. I showed it to him earlier, he's spending his lunch break in his room messing with his clothing most likely. What do you think?”

“I’m not sure why I want it either. Perhaps it was more along the lines of seeing something new and interesting. I just…” you pause and look at Marcie. “Just what?” she asks.

“Thank you.” You smile back. “Now, let’s try to finish this up so the librarian won’t hunt me down for late fees or worse,” you say.

Marcie’s curious gaze grows into an upwards into a bright smile before she chuckles at your response.

“You're silly. The librarian won’t hunt you down unless you keep it for like a week.” Marcie takes the [Chromatic Styles] book from your hand placing it back inside of her bag, then pulls out the Bellabona book. “I believe we left off on the beginning of chapter seven correct?”

“Yes, I do believe so.” You say as Marcie reaches for the nearby sandwiches that you provided earlier handing one to you. She then opens to book to the correct page and scoots closer to your body to allow you to follow along while she reads.

Chapter 7: Oliva

My name is Oliva today is my birthday and I’m now 10. Today I met in a boy in the garden, he came from outside the walls, but he fascinates I wonder what he’ll show me in the future. This is something that I wrote when I was young and foolish and blind to the true darkness that bleaks this cruel world. My childhood friend Ricardo fought for the right to marry me, though while his intentions were noble his attempts were futile. When I first met Richard, he came across as a fellow who I would dread to see every morning for the rest of my life. It wasn’t until he defeated Ricardo in the battle that I learned the truth behind his challenge. My father requested that he teach Ricardo a lesson in order to provide funds to cure Richard’s mother of an illness. Richard explained this to me in private, while my dear friend Ricardo got hurt in the process, I forgave Richard for his actions. Sparks tingled, a connection was drawn between the two of us and hot-blooded action happened as the bed sheets flew into the air. Perhaps my actions were a betrayal of Ricardo’s love for me, but did I really feel the same way towards him? What did he have to offer to me that Richard couldn’t already provide with ease?
Chapter 8: Buttercup

As Marcie begins to read the next chapter her words slow down dramatically realizing what she was about to read aloud was a "chapter-long sex scene” between Richard & Oliva. Eventually, she stops talking as she skims through the reading at a speed that you are unable to keep up with as she quickly moves from page to page.

“I-I’m sorry. I’m just trying to find something relevant to the p-plot.” Marcie stutters as she flips through the pages. Her finger stops on a paragraph causing her cheeks to flush pink. She skips ahead no longer skimming the pages to the beginning of chapter 9.

“Why don’t we stop here for now and read the final chapter later? I think I need a moment to breathe.” Marcie takes a deep breath while placing a hand on her chest. She is clearly shaken over the suddenness of the last chapter. "Maybe we should go see just go see Hiren now…” She places her hand on her face as she looks away from you. Her pink cheeks fade back to their normal coloration.

Chapter 10: Black Rose

The current date and time that I’m writing this is XXX 8, the year xx20. The current time is 5:01 PM just past the time of a late brunch and two hours before the untimely death of Oliva.

Perhaps I should start from the beginning. After my time with Oliva in bed, we had a long talk about our future together and how she felt about Ricardo. At the time she was questioning herself if what she felt for Ricardo was true, or if I could match the happiness that Ricardo brought upon her. I told her that while that I would do my best to please her. If my best wasn’t enough, I would personally allow Ricardo to act as a secondary husband if need be…Alas, that was not to be. Ricardo came to our wedding, and I allowed them to have a private conversation between themselves for a small period. When I stepped into the room that they were in, I found the pair lying dead on the floor. An empty black rose grasped in the palm of their hands...

I just received word that the cause of death was due to the poisonous thorns of the black rose, the likes that no one has ever seen before. Oliva is thankfully alive but seemed to be trapped in an unnatural slumber that she is unable to awaken from. The same cannot be said for Ricardo… In a way I’m happy for them, they died in the grasp of each other's hands. I’ll never know, but maybe she was able to sort out her feelings and truly understand her what her love meant.

You close the book. “Well, that was…something. Do all of her books end like that?” you say.

“Not normally…I was expecting a much happier ending. I have so many questions, like was there a hidden meeting to the black rose? Why did the point of view shift so much towards the end? Also, why does Richard have the same family name as Roland? You don’t think this has any relation to him, do you? Normally her stories are based on a true story.” Marcie asks.

“I’m not sure about the other questions, but you would have to ask Roland that himself. Though I don’t think it’s true due to your name matching the headmaster’s.”

“I didn't like the ending. It made me feel depressed and want to go to sleep." Marcie closes her eyes and lies on her bed stretching for a moment before exhaling allowing her arms to drop lazily to her side. "If I ever had the chance I'd like to talk to her. Helena Bellabona. I got so many questions to ask. Thank you for reading with me Saul, I never read something like this with another person before so it makes me happy to have someone who would.”
