Your name is Solomon and you are a servant currently serving Vivi D’roix. In the last thread, you infiltrated the Rising Sun restaurant and hid inside of a trash can to steal back Griselda's gems. The trash can was upgraded recently and led you to the town dump. In an attempt to escape you fought a pet raccoon and knocked out its owner.

After looting the man you found some stairs that led to a secret underground base belonging to "Total Red". Inside the base, you met another Rara who was kind enough to not call security because she thought it would be too much trouble. She gave you her smelly lab coat causing you to smell even more.

Going deeper into the base you hid inside of a box and sneaked your way through a heavily guarded area. When entering a door you found a cute Shiba dog. The dog led you towards a treasure room containing things that you were looking for such as Griselda's gem.

Deciding to not touch the treasure you petted the dog. It led you towards the exit and learned that it was a magical dog that became smarter the more it ate. The Shiba thanked you for petting him and gave you a coin to summon him in emergencies.

Going back to your world, you found your mistress missing and searched around the school for her. You found her in the garden with Charles and listened in on their conversation. Vivi accepted Charles's invite to see a performance tomorrow. During lunch, you gave advice to Prince Roland regarding a transfer student named Hilda that he was interested in. Charles gave you tickets to see the performance as well.

>“We can go to the lake in the garden.”

“We can go to the lake in the garden, its close by, quiet, and should give us some privacy.” You say.

“Why are the two of you going to the lake?” Roland asks.

“Saul and I have been reading a book together and we're going to the lake to do so. It’s good to sometimes change the setting in which you read something.” Marcie says.

“What kind of book is it?”

“It's um…A romance book. We happen to like the same author, and both wanted to read her new book.” Marcie says.

“Romance huh? Sounds boring. I prefer action novels, with male main characters.” Roland shrugs his shoulders leaning back in his chair.

Several of the students begin to enter the room because the class is nearly starting. Hiren and Mercedes are among these people who walk. Hiren waves to your group as he walks to his seat sitting next to Czesara.

[Ding Dong Dong Ding]

The bell rings.

“Students please settle down in your seats, next to your assigned partner from the previous class. For today's class, we’ll be going over the special type of magic that I mentioned last class. I’m sure that some of the newer students are already familiar with the topic.” Mrs. Alabaster begins to explain [Ancient Magic] to the class. She speaks about the value and how having the knowledge of knowing one could help an individual. She mostly repeats what Marcie told you in the club room, but she also speaks about how some forms of ancient magic can have a negative effect on the user. Or if used incorrectly it could affect someone else’s life forever. Mercedes makes eye contact with you as Mrs. Alabaster finishes her explanation.

“Does anyone have any questions?” Mercedes asks.

“Is it possible to enchant a weapon using ancient magic?” Roland asks from behind you.

“Please raise your next time.” Mrs. Alabaster snaps at Roland.

“To answer your question, it is possible to enchant a weapon using ancient magic. If you want to enchant a weapon, I suggest doing some research on the market and spending a fortune to learn it yourself. You may also visit a blacksmith who already knows the magic and commissions them to craft you a weapon with an enhancement. It’s a very lucrative business.” Mrs. Alabaster says.

Looking over to Marcie she seems rather bored of the class currently and is idly tapping her pencil against the desk. She glances up to you and smiles before returning to boredom. Most of this is review for her. Roland is writing something down in his notebook. Most likely everything related to Mrs. Alabasters explanation regarding ancient magic and enchanting weapons.

>“Regarding ancient magic, have you had any experiences with it or learned any? If so, could you show us what it is?”

You raise your hand and Mrs. Alabaster points at you.

“Regarding ancient magic, have you had any experiences with it or learn any?” If so, could you show us what it is?” you ask.

Mrs. Alabaster looks at Mercedes, but she shakes her head. Mrs. Alabaster smiles, and disappearing from her position and reappearing in front of your table. There are several gasps in the classroom as this happens.

“I hope this answers your question. Listen up class, what you just saw was an example of ancient magic. I call it [Disappearing Act] looking anywhere in my sight I may disappear and reappear in the spot that I was looking at. During my life in the pursuit of knowledge, I learned many things who made me the person whom I am today. The headmaster hopes that the lessons that you learn here will build you into a better person than you are now.”

Another student raises their hand.

“Can you show us something else? Maybe something that is simpler?” the student asks.

“Very well, if you want it changed back to come and see me after class.” Mrs. Alabaster quickly taps your head and reaches over to Marcie, then to Roland. She reappears on the other side of the classroom next to the student touching his shirt and also the shirt of the student next to him.

At first, you don’t notice anything until Mrs. Alabaster snaps her fingers. The shirts of the other students change to pink. Marcie is giggling behind you. Turning around to see what she is laughing at you see that the color of her hair has changed from a dark blue to bright pink.

“Your hair is different, its pink.” You say.

“So is yours!” Roland laughs pointing at you.

Looking over to Roland, his iconic blonde hair is a bright pink color. Marcie reaches into her school bag taking out a small mirror used for make-up. Looking through the mirror you see that your hair has also changed from to a bright pink coloring. Matching your friends around you, as well as the students on the other side of the classroom. Hiren is speaking with Czesara about something, but you can’t hear him over the other people talking in the classroom. Some of the girls in the classroom are gushing happily over Roland's hair. Mrs. Alabaster speaks up again.

>[1/2]

“This is probably the simplest ancient magic I know, as for its name I call it [Chromatic Styles]. By tapping a persons clothing, or hair I am able to change the color to whatever I’m thinking of. I hope these are good enough examples of how simple but different ancient magic can be. To proceed with the lesson the first-year students will be learning the spell [Create Light]. I ask the second year students to please help your peers in learning it. The faster we get through the basics the faster we can get on to the more fun and complicated subjects.” Mrs. Alabaster says.

Roland is focused on writing down in his notebook, his partner Douglas is not with him today in class. Marcie pokes your arm grabbing your attention.

“It’s a good thing we practiced it during our club time so that we wouldn’t have to later.”

“Thanks to your and Hiren’s guidance that we were able to do it. Your explanation was on point.” You say.

“If the fishing lesson goes well, I think I’ll finish the rest of the book. I like the color of your hair Saul; pink is a good color on you.” Marcie laughs.

The rest of the lesson goes by quickly. Mrs. Alabaster walks around the room with a clipboard and pen. She helps students who are struggling with the spell. You and Roland pass with flying colors due to already knowing the spell and previous practice from last week. Eventually, the class ends, and Mrs. Alabaster dismisses the class. Hiren walks over to your area, he has a large grin on his face.

“Hello, my pink friends. Did you enjoy the class?”

“Class was boring, I hope we get past this review for the first year students soon so that we can learn something new. Though Mrs. Alabaster did make the class more enjoyable by turning Roland’s and Saul’s hair pink. I think I’m going to keep it pink for now, if I want it changed back I’m sure that Mrs. Alabaster won’t mind. How was Czesara?” Marcie asks.

“She was calling Mrs. Alabaster rude for changing the color of the other students, but I think she was trying to bring more joy in her classroom and how she is a good teacher to her newer students. She is new as well and I don’t believe she realized this when I tried explaining it to her. I’m going to go to my next class now, Roland do you want to come with me?” Hiren asks.

“Let me change my hair color first. If my brother sees me likes this he’s going to throw a fit.” Roland walks over to Mrs. Alabaster.

“I’m going to change my hair color back as well. I’m sure Mercedes and Caren will tease me to no end for having pink hair. Also, I have a couple of question to ask Mrs. Alabaster”.

“Awww. We could have maybe convinced Hiren to change his hair color pink as well then we would all be matching.” Marcie says.

You and Marcie walk up to Mrs. Alabaster.

“Sorry for using the two of you for the presentation in class.” Mrs. Alabaster apologizes.

“It’s alright, but I did have a couple questions regarding the tomes.” You say.

“I may be able to answer a few, but I have a date with my husband tonight. As well as several other things that I must do.”

“How rare are the tomes? You said that you might be able to purchase them on some type of market?”

“The rarity of tomes are tricky. Tomes are more commonly found by accident or in a dungeon. I’ve only been in few in my time, but typically the more dangerous the dungeon is the better the rewards are. Which could possibly lead to a tome being found? We haven’t discovered yet where these tomes came from, but we believe them to be from a civilization in the far past that prided themselves on magic. Others suggest they are gifts from the god. There is a book in the library that goes more into detail I believe. If you go into town ask around for an auction house or market place. I haven't spent much time outside the academy."

“So is there something like a tome library?” you ask.

Mercedes chuckles for a moment.

“Please forgive me, Sweetie. There is no such thing as a ‘tome library’. If there was, Mrs. Alabaster wouldn’t be giving a lesson on it today.”

“Oh, so would there be an etiquette for requesting to read a tome from someone else’s collection?”

“Hmmm…You would have to offer the person something of greater or equal worth or hope that person likes you enough to share that information with you.” Mercedes winks at you.

“To some people, the tome could be very special to them. Depending on the person, they might find it rude for you to even ask. I know that this is true for some of the students who attend this academy. Any other questions?” Mrs. Alabaster asks.

“May I request to read your [Chromatic Styles] tome?”

“…No. You may not. Ask me another time with something to offer and I may consider it.” Mrs. Alabaster turns to Mercedes. “Mercedes I need you to come with me and help me sign a few papers.” Mrs. Alabaster says.

“Of course, Mrs. Alabaster.” Mercedes says.

Mrs. Alabaster touches your hair turning it back to its original color. Marcie tugs on your hand pointing you towards the door. You wave goodbye to Mercedes, as you exit the classroom.

Marcie begins speaking with you as you walk through the hallways.

“When I first started to learn magic, I was curious as you. I also thought there was some type of ‘tome library’. I wanted to learn about everything there was to it. I read and researched a lot about it, mostly in secret from my father. I’m not sure if he would approve about my passion for learning magic rather than nobility etiquette. I know that you’re curious about magic and want to learn more, but maybe next time that you have so many questions you can come to me first. As the head of the black magic club, and as your friend, I want to help you with anything that you may be curious about.” Marcie says.

“Do you want to go straight to the lake? Or maybe stop by my room for a bit? I left the Bellabona and Fishing Holes book in there.” Marcie ask.

“We can stop by your room and get one of the books. We have to finish the Bellabona book in two days before we have to return it.” You say.

Marcie nods and leads you through the hallways to her room. You open the door knowing that it is already unlocked. Entering the room, you notice that it is more decorated than the other rooms that you’ve been inside of. On the walls of the room, there are picture frames of various different people. The furniture is more miniature to accommodate her height. The only thing that seems to be about the same size as other rooms that you’ve been inside is her bed. Near her bedside are several pieces of paper thrown about.

“I put the books under my bed one second…”

You walk towards the picture frames on her wall. Inside you can see pictures of an older man and what seems to be a younger version of herself. In the picture next to it is a monochrome picture of the same man with another person who looks like Marcie but older next to him. Marcie walks up next to you to see what you are staring at the books are in her arms.

“That’s a picture of my parents when they got married. I never got the chance to meet her though, she died giving birth to me… My father would tell me stories about her when they were younger. She was a famous singer and toured the world. My father met her backstage during a contest, and he told me that she had one of those rare smiles that you may come across four or five times in life. Something had just clicked in both of them and they were together ever since. He put me through singing lessons as when I was younger.

“Would you like to hear me sing? I know a couple of songs by heart. Or maybe should do the fishing lesson now so I can pass those trials you told me about.”

“We have time, there is no rush to go to the lake. I’d like to hear your singing.” You say.

“Oh alright! Sit on my bed while I prepare.”

You sit down on Marcie’s bed. She places the books on the floor and gathers the papers that were thrown about on the floor. She shuffles the papers in her hand before picking one and placing the rest on the floor. She clears her throat, there are hints of red in her cheeks as she begins to sing.

Crowded streets and empty faces

Looking through the same old places

We laugh about the future

Live the nights with so much care

I’ve never seen you shine so bright

Under the moonlight night

Marcie drops the paper she was holding tears begin to well up in her eyes as she begins to sing the next verse of the song. Even though there is water falling from her face, she continues to sing more passionate and confidently. She is smiling happily the whole way through.

You took me away from the city

You treated me with so much care

Thank you beautiful

For being the one that loves me so fair

Thank you for making me happy

And making my dreams come true

Thank you for calling me Abby

Marcie takes a breath as she finishes singing. She grabs a nearby handkerchief drying the tears from her eyes.

“I’m sorry I started to cry there for a moment I’m not sure what came over me. It was a song my mother made called [Moon Light]. She was singing it on the same night that my parents met. My mother's name was Abby. The only people who I think have ever heard me sing was my father, Hiren, and you. Hiren caught me singing alone in the club room last year. Marcie steps on a small stool and climbs on her bed next to you. She is looking at you curiously.

“Your mother would be proud of you if she was still here today…It was beautiful.”

“Thank you, Saul, that means a lot to me to hear that from you. I’m sure that she would think so too.” Marcie’s cheeks turn red and as she smiles as happy as she did during her singing.

“Do you sing that song at night often? Because I think I’ve heard you singing at night occasionally. I was wonder who it way.”

“…I don’t sing it all the time, there are other songs I practice at night. Where is your room?” Marcie asks.

You point towards the wall directly in front of you.

“My room is on the other side of that wall and so is my bed.” You say.

“So, you’ve heard me sing before, but you never knew it was me?”

You nod your head. “I didn’t know it was you until I walked you back to your room last night. Sometimes when I go to sleep, I would hear another person singing next door. I was curious as to who it was and now, I know.”

“There isn’t much you can do about your hearing, but if you can’t sleep come by my room at night and I’ll sing you a song. You are always welcome here.” Marcie gets off the bed and picks up the books from the ground. “Let’s go to the lake now while there is still some daylight, you can read the Bellabona book to me while I practice.”

The two of you leave her room and make your ways through the hallways. As you pass by the clinic there is a sign that states:

>Field Studies Classroom

While you walk outside of the academy towards the garden Marcie is humming the same song she was singing earlier. Today the weather is rather windy causing a cool breeze to flow between the two of you. As you walk into the garden you take notice that there are several birds roosting on top of the mother statue. Entering the area of the lake Marcie inhales at seeing the sight of it for the first time.

“Never been here before?” you ask.

She shakes her head. “No, I haven’t. Though I must ask how will you teach me how to fish without any fishing poles?”

“Like this.” You walk up to the front of the lake making sure that there aren’t any nearby murtlaps as you set up. “Summon Ship: The Siren”. Your hand glows as you feel the familiar force push you back slightly. The large green portal opens near the beach of the lake. Marcie is jumping excitedly behind you as your cutter appears from the portal. You step on board your ship and beckon her to come on board.

She sounds new to this, so it’s a good idea to be thorough in our explanations.

Also, we should ask for something from her to recognize us with in the book, like a hair ribbon or a handkerchief. That way she won’t get tricked by the locals, and she can figure out who we are.

>Slowly explain to her the process of casting the line, and how to pull the bite

Marcie quickly runs on board your cutter and quickly walks around. Touching the deck of the ship to make sure that it is real before proceeding to ask you questions. As you move the boat towards the center of the lake.

“Is this part of the Fishing Holes? Where did the boat come from? I want a boat.”

After anchoring the cutter down in the middle of the lake you take a moment and sit down to answer her questions.

“The boat is from the other world, I learned how to do it after I completed my trials. I think you will get one as well. The ship’s name is the Siren, it's named after someone that I met when I first received it.”

“Have you shown anyone else your ship? I’m assuming you told your Mistress Vivi right?” Marcie asks.

“…I haven’t told her anything regarding fishing holes. You’re the first person I’ve told.”

“Why haven’t you told you told her yet?”

“I…She has been busy the past few days and I’ve mostly forgotten to tell her. I’ll tell her soon though. Let’s start the lesson.” You say quickly getting up from the floor and dodging the topic of concerning Vivi. Your unsure as to how she would act in the FH’s world or if she would like the slow pleasantries of fishing. You move over to your fishing rod that appeared onboard along with the ship.

“A major part about fishing is to have patience. The fish won’t bite immediately, so you’ll have to wait for them too. We don’t have any bait on-hand so we will be using a lure as bait to catch whatever is inside the lake. When you are ready to cast your line you want to make sure that no one is near you lest the hook catches on to someone.” You bring the rod back to your side and bring it smoothly in the direction of the water and release the line as you point in the right direction. “What you want to do next is slowly reel back in your line so it looks like the lure that’s in the water is real. When your rod bends it means that you have a bite. It’s going to fight against you, so pull back on the rod in the opposite direction it is swimming from.” When you finish your explanation you quickly reel the line back in and hand the rod over to Marcie.

>[1/2]
>>
>53

She smiles as she takes the rod from your hand. You hear her whisper under her breath your directions for casting the line. You take a few steps back from her as she brings the rod to her side, but releases it too early causing the hook to catch on to the railing of the ship. She takes the hook off the railing before trying again, but this time much slower and with less force behind the throw. The lure enters the water, but it falls to close. She clicks her tongue and reels it back quickly. On her third try, she casts the line perfectly into the water. Marcie looks at you for approval, which you return with a quick nod (53). You grab Bellabona’s book and begin to read again from where you left off.

Chapter 6*: The Recovery

Ricardo screamed in pain as he clutched his arm covering the slash that was left by Richard’s strike. When Richard tried to look at Ricardo in the face once more, he was stricken again but, in the face, leaving a mark large enough for a scare. Ricardo won the duel and walked away with Oliva leaving Richard lying on the ground bleeding and crying in pain. Eventually, he picked himself up and went to the nearby church to heal his wounds. Richard spent countless nights recovering, thankfully Ricardo had shown mercy on the young man allowing him to keep his arm. Though his face would forever be a reminder that he lost his childhood love to Oliva…

You stop reading as you hear Marcie yelling that she had received a bite. The rod doesn’t bend much, but there is a visible tug to it. Doing as you instructed, Marcie reels in the opposite direction. As she pulls on the rod you notice that there is not much fight on the opposite end. The end of the line reveals a bullfrog, its cheeks puff out as it hangs in the air (53).

“That’s not a fish or a murtlap. I’ll just let it go and try again.” Marcie frowns as she unhooks the frog from her line. It jumps out of her hands back into the water as soon as it’s released. “This book is a bit different from her previous books, I’m not sure how Ricardo is going to make it out of this one.”

Setting down the book, for now, you get closer to Marcie placing your hand on her shoulder.

“Let’s worry about the next part later. I want to focus on you getting this fishing thing down.” You say offering your hand to her. She grabs your hand as you lead it towards the grip on the rod, taking her other hand you place it on the reel. Crouching down to her side you repeat back your previous instructions of how to cast the rod properly back into the water. You hold the rod along with her, bringing it to the side then casting it back into the water with enough force so that the line is far enough from the boat to allow you to slowly reel it back in waiting for a bite.

“…Thank you, Saul. I think I got it now.” Marcie says as you can feel her grip tightening. Her eyes are more determined and focused on the objective at hand watching the rod closely for any time that it may bend. You let go of her hand and let her take control of the rod on her own. The two of you sit in silence for several minutes. The only sounds you can hear is the ship bobbing in the water, the nearby murtlaps that inhabit the lake and the slow reeling of Marcie’s pole.

“The only plan that I have currently is to make sure that Vivi makes it through school without any problems. Right now, she is doing a good job in doing so in some regards.”

“Problems? What type of problems?”

“Just keeping her in line with not misbehaving and telling her that she must act noble-like in some occasions. One of her classes is nobility etiquette, I think it is important that she does well in that course because when I go back to the D’roix household they’ll want to see what she has accomplished. By the way. Do you like performances?”

“Sometimes, depends on the type of performance it is. If it has singing or is somewhat comical, I’d be more interested.
Why do you ask?”

“Charles met up with me today and gave me tickets to one for tomorrow. He and Vivi are going to see it as well. She’s been hoping to meet you. I’m not sure what type of performance it is though, Charles never mentioned.”

Before Marcie can reply her body lurches forwards as her rod bends. Placing your hands alongside hers you assist in capturing whatever is bitten on the end of her line. Once more you hastily repeat your instructions of how to fight against what is pulling on the end of your line. While reeling in on the line you also find it yourself struggling to the point where your grip is starting to loosen up as well.

Your line breaks suddenly causing you and Marcie to stumble and fall back, your stomach cushions her fall.

“Well, I didn’t expect that to happen. Can’t catch them all I guess…” You say as you watch Marcie clench her fists. You can’t read her expression.

From behind you, you can hear a large squeaking sound coming over your boat. A large creature appears over your boat. It has a curved triangular fin with a white underbelly. As it reaches the other side it splashes water on to your boat causing the two of you to get wet from its actions. The creature emerges from the water, squeaking at its actions before diving back in… Marcie begins to laugh.

“Hahahaha. I’m really having fun. Even though, I haven’t caught anything yet. Being out here with someone else. For some reason, it makes me so much happier than being alone in my room singing or reading a book.” Marcie steps off your stomach allowing you to stand back up. She walks over to the books laying on the deck of the ship. They don’t seem to be damaged from the water.

Looking up towards the sky you notice that its growing dark, but not yet nighttime. Vivi is most likely attending her blacksmithing club currently. Unless Mercedes or Caren pulled her away somewhere else.

“Hey Saul, I want to meet Vivi as well, I’m curious what she looks like. Also, about that performance…I’d like to go with you if you don’t mind having me as your date...” Marcie says shyly.

>“That’s the reason why I was asking you if you like performances. I was going to invite you."

“…That’ll be great.” You say. Marcie smiles back at you filling your chest with a warm feeling that you can’t describe. You can’t help but smile back. “Let’s go back to the academy and dry off. It’s getting late. If we have more time tomorrow before the performance, we can practice again if you’d like."

You move the boat to the shore of the lake. As the two of you step off the boat you de-summon it and begin walking towards the academy. There are some students who are taking a late stroll through the garden point out at your drenched clothing and hair. Marcie hastens her pace to avoid being seen again… Soon your back inside of her room, besides a few other people who noticed you mostly avoided being seen by anyone of interest. Marcie throws a towel over your head.

“Dry up.”

Grabbing the towel off your face you quickly dry off your body, hair, and clothes to the best of your ability. Your clothes are still wet, but not as much as they were before.

“So, about the performance. Did Charles say how you should be dressing for the event? Is it formal or casual?”

“He told me it was a formal event, Vivi will be sitting alongside some other nobles so I’m worried about how she will act around them on her own. He said that our seats may not be the best, so I don’t think it is likely that the four of us will be sitting next to each other. Do you think Hiren will mind if I ask him to borrow formal clothing?” You ask as you fold your towel handing it back to her. Marcie takes the towels stuffing them under her bed.

“I think he would be really happy if you did.”

“By the way. Do you have something that I can borrow so that you can recognize me in the book?” you ask.

“Why would I need to recognize you? I know what you look like.”

“Oh um. Some of the people over there can be somewhat shady. When you pass your trials and arrive in the main town, I think it’ll just be easier for you to spot me quickly.”

“I guess that makes sense…” Marcie walks over to her drawer pulling out a small black sweater about her size. On the front there is the letter ‘M’ sewn in. On the back, there is the letter ‘A’ sewn in as well.

“The sweater fits someone more my size but you can wear it around your neck since it doesn’t fit you.”

>Marcie’s Sweater Obtained

“I should be getting back to Vivi. She is probably wondering where I am and wants to speak to me about the upcoming performance and Charles. I’m also curious about how her classes went, then we have to eat dinner, so much to do…”

“One thing at a time. Thank you for helping me out today Saul, I really appreciate it. I’m going to freshen up and prepare to eat dinner. I also have an errand to run…We should read the rest of the book soon, you have to return it soon.” Marcie says.

You nod to Marcie and leave her room. Upon exiting you place her sweater in your item box, perhaps you will wear it later. For now, you decide to refocus on resuming your duties as a servant and finding Vivi. At the current time, she should be leaving her blacksmithing club. As you quickly make your ways down the hallways you can nearly bump into Roland who is running throughout the hallway. Roland places his hands on your shoulders and has a large grin on his face.

“Saul. Just the person I was looking for!”

“Hello, Roland. Did you visit the blacksmithing club?"

Some girls pass by the two of you whispering to each other about Roland’s friendliness towards you. You take a step back allowing his arms to drop to his sides.

“Yes. As soon as class was over, I went over to the blacksmithing club and asked them to teach me about weapons and guess what?”

“What?”

“Lo and behold Hilda was there as well! She sat down with me and showed me the process of making something as simple as a knife. I think I have a newfound respect for those who make weapons for a living.”

“Did you ask her anything?”

“I asked to spar with her after the club meeting was over, and she agreed. She seemed really excited when I told her that I knew my way around the sword.”

“What does this have to do with me?” you ask. Roland scratches the back of his head, looking to his side nervously.

“I was hoping if you could be our lookout, for any professors, servants, or my brother who may be nearby. We’re sneaking into the room where B.C.T holds their classes. Your hearing is very good, so I thought you might be able to warn us in time if someone was coming by to check out the noise.”

"That being said, I did want to ask you if you could teach me swordsmanship. So tell me when you've set up a good time for sparring with Hilda, and I'll keep an ear out for a few lessons."

“Firstly, before anything, I must find Vivi to do my duties before anything. I have something discuss with her and I’m not sure how long it will take. Tonight isn’t great for me. Also, are you sure sparring with her like this is a good idea, it seems dangerous? If word were to get out that you were found ‘fighting’ another student what would your brother think or what will the other students?”

“My little brother has been lecturing me for the past week, it has been getting annoying. Though when I mentioned that I knew my way around the sword and asked her how to spar she seemed extremely happy. I couldn’t tell if it was the forge that we were sitting next to but there was a fire in her eyes.” Roland points two of his finger towards his eyes.

“From what I’ve seen of Hilda is that she is really strong. I don’t recommend sparing with her until you know what you're up against.”

“…Your concern is appreciated, but you won’t have to worry about a thing. I’m much stronger than I look.” Roland says with the utmost confidence in his voice.

“How about tomorrow night will you be available?”

You shake your head. “I can’t do tomorrow night either. I’m going to the performance I spoke about earlier with Marcie. She wanted to go with me. If you really want to go forward with sparring her, I’ll be your lookout, but only if you can teach me some swordsmanship.”

“I don’t think I’ll be that great of a teacher, but I could try. I’m going to go find Hilda and reschedule with her and about Vivi, she didn’t show up at the club meeting. Samuel was disappointed that she didn’t come, he wanted to teach her the basics of blacksmithing. Maybe she’s in her room? Anyways it was nice speaking with you, Saul!” Roland quickly turns around and runs back the direction of where he came from.

Turning around you go back to Vivi’s room. Upon entering inside you find Vivi walking circles around Caren. She stops walking when she notices you at the door.

“Saul! I’m so glad that you are here where have you been?”

“I was looking for you. You didn’t attend your blacksmithing club meeting. Is there seem to be a reason why you are circling Caren here?”

“She’s worried about her date with Charles tomorrow. Rena stopped by the room earlier to let her know that she will be sitting alongside some other nobles during the performance. Now she’s all nervous about acting informal or saying something wrong in front of Charles or the other people that will be there. I gave her some tips, that I felt might help, but she’s unsure of herself.” Caren speaks up.

“I’m not sure what to do. Maybe I should just take Caren’s advice?” Vivi says.

“What is Caren’s advice?” you ask.

“That we should use the PolyInk key and have you or her go instead of me,” Vivi says.

Caren shrugs her shoulders. “I think Vivi can do it herself, she just needs a self-confidence boost of some kind, but if not either you or I could go instead.” Caren rubs Vivi’s shoulder gently. “I’m here for you if you need me.”

“First you need to calm down and relax. Why don't we talk over it during dinner with Mercedes? I’m sure that after you eat some food you’ll feel better.”

“Ok Saul…I want to see Mercedes anyways. I haven’t seen her since this morning.” Vivi says.

“She’s busier the days that they teach magical studies. It's mostly the reason why she is here, to begin with.” Caren says as the three of you exit Vivi’s room and make your way towards the dining hall. While you walk Caren is speaking with Vivi about her alchemy lessons. As you enter the dining hall and sit at your usual table you notice that Mercedes isn’t present. Usually, she is the first one to arrive. Caren continues to ramble on about her alchemy classes. While she does so you observe the room for several minutes for any sign of Mercedes. Eventually, you spot her entering the dining hall, quickly walking to your table.

“I’m sorry everyone. I hope you weren’t waiting too long. I was dealing with some paperwork for Mrs. Alabaster, but someone came and took my spot for the day. What are you all speaking about?” Mercedes asks as she sits down next to Vivi.

“Well, I was just telling Vivi about a potion I was working on to help Charles with his stamina…”

“I need advice for tomorrow Mercedes,” Vivi says.

“What’s happening tomorrow?”

“Charles invited me to go see a performance tomorrow night, and I accepted. Thing is that there will be other nobles sitting near us, and now I’m nervous on how I may act in front of him.” Vivi says.

Mercedes wraps her arm around Vivi. “You’re worrying too much. I think you should just be yourself so that you have nothing to worry about. I don’t have that much experience with interacting with other people of the high-class society, but how bad can they judge a person based on their actions? If anything, just don’t say anything you wouldn’t normally tell a stranger.”

“Hey Saul, you’re on good terms with Roland, right? Maybe you could ask him to give Vivi advice? He is the prince after all." Caren suggests.

>“Mercedes advice should be enough for Vivi. I agree you’re worrying too much, just be yourself. With some limitations.”

>“I just spoke with Roland, he has his hands tied right now, but I could try to ask him to talk to Vivi.

>“I think both your points of valid. I’ll see if Roland has time to speak with Vivi before the performance, but you shouldn’t worry too much.”

“I think both your point are valid. I’ll see if Roland has time to speak with Vivi before the performance, but you shouldn’t worry too much. I’ll be there as well, though I’m not sure how close my seats will be to yours.”

“I forgot Saul! Charles gave you tickets to see the performance as well. If anything happens Mercedes or Caren can help you, help me!” Vivi says.

“You’re going to take me, right sweetie?” Mercedes says.

“No way! You’re would rather go with me?” Caren interjects.
“…I’m sorry, but I’ve already invited someone else.” You say.

“Who?” Vivi asks.

“Well I was speaking about the performance, and she wanted to go with me, and I agreed. That girl you wanted to meet Marcie Alabaster is the person going to the performance with me tomorrow night.” You say.

“I told you to introduce me before you continued to speak with her, and now you invited her to see the performance,” Vivi seems somewhat upset.

“I spoke with her recently; she wants to meet you as well. You’ll have your chance before we go to the performance.”

Looking over to Mercedes she is staring at you in deep thought and nodding at every word that you say.

“So, you don’t know yet sweetie?” Mercedes asks.

“Don’t know what?”

Mercedes grins mischievously, “Nothing, you’ll find out on your own…”

Before you can pursue Mercedes with another question a waiter comes up to your table serving your dinner for tonight. Today’s dinner will be ‘Roasted Duck and Pork with Lentils’, the roasted duck has caviar-like black beluga lentils, toasted-walnut pesto, and sautéed shiitake mushrooms. The meat is tender enough to cut with a fork. In between your bites, Caren asks you a question.

“When do you want to go speak with the headmaster regarding that vial? I’m curious to know more about it.”

“We can go after our key lesson with Mercedes. The last time I used a key was when I turned into Vivi.”
Mercedes holds up a finger and swallows the food in her mouth. “Anything regarding enhancing your hearing is off limits, the last thing I want is someone to go deaf because they will be able to hear every little thing that goes on around them,” Mercedes says.

“Ever since you turned into an exact copy of Vivi, I have been dying to see it used again. I think it’s really interesting and want to try it out myself. If there is time, could you give me your notes on it so that I may learn it myself?” Caren asks.

“I’ll lend you the notes on how to use it properly, but sweetie will be choosing what we will be learning today,” Mercedes says.

Soon the four of you finish your meal, the roasted duck was much better than what you ate for dinner the previous night. The four of you head towards Mercedes room and take a seat somewhere among the room. Mercedes walks over to her bookshelf taking out several papers handing them to Caren. She seems really happy.

“Vivi how has your studying been going with the [Enhanced Smelling Key](Advanced) been going?” Mercedes asks.

“I haven’t had the time to study it all, I entered a fashion show recently and got the top prize, but I already told you about that during breakfast, didn’t I?” Vivi says.

“You did. Sweetie is there something you’d like to work on for tonight? Maybe continuing to work on the beginner level of enhanced smelling? Vivi can help you with that while I work with Caren. Or maybe something more along the lines of enhancing items. Like what Roland asked today during class? Did you have a question regarding something else?

“Let’s try out enhancing eyesight, I’m not sure when I’ll be looking in the dark anytime soon though.”

“It has some uses more than just seeing in the dark, but its good to know whenever you are trying to find something. Though I recommend that you remove the key before you go to sleep because seeing your eyelids while you try to sleep can be uncomfortable. Vivi I’d like you to practice the advance smelling key, from what you’ve been telling me it seems that you enjoy it much more than I expected.”

Mercedes takes out some writing paper handing them to you and Vivi. By now you’ve gotten a grasp over the flow of the stroke order of the keys that you already know how to do. Since it's just the beginner level practicing the key comes relatively easy (64). After referencing the key several times you begin writing it from memory without looking at the example that was provided to you. After more several more repetitions you feel confident enough to write the key at any time.

>Enhanced Sight (Beginner) Learned

Looking over at Vivi she is working on a much more complex key. As you did she is referencing the example that Mercedes provided. Along with her guidance, she seems to be understanding the various stroke pattern that goes into the advanced key she is working on. Vivi has a smile on her face as she listens carefully to Mercedes explanation (72). Looking over at Caren behind you her hands are filled with the various papers Mercedes handed her on the polyink key. Her advice for Vivi may have been rooted in her desire to see it used once more. You walk over to Caren and assist her in learning the polyink key. After another hour Mercedes claps her hands gathering your attention towards her.

“It’s getting late, would anyone like to try using what they learned today?” Mercedes asks.

“I’ll try out the polyink on a later day…” Caren says.

>Try out Enhancing Sight (Beginner)?

“I’ll go ahead and try out the enhanced sight.”
Mercedes nods at you as you pull up your sleeves and use one of the nearby ink vials. Just as you practiced you place the key perfectly on your arm. You look up for Mercedes’s nod of approval as you go blind. You don’t panic assuming this the key going into effect. Blinking several times your vision returns though it's blurrier than before.

“I think the key is working Mercedes, but I think there is something wrong. My vision is blurrier than before.” You say.

“Oh, that’s because the lights are on, thankfully it's just the beginner level or you would be as blind as a bat! One second…” Mercedes quickly shuts off the lights that were illuminating the room. Your vision clears up allowing you to see much better in the now dark room.

“Mercedes, what’s the point of seeing in the dark if our eyes naturally adjust to the change of lighting in the room?” Caren asks.

“Well, the enhanced sight key can improve on your natural agility to adjust to a darker setting. Also, it’ll be much easier to see your surroundings regardless. If you get used to it, you might even be able to pick out things that you may not have been able to see without it. For example, one time I caught someone trying to be sneaky and cheat on my paper and I called them out for it. I wouldn’t have caught them without enhancing my vision.” Mercedes says proudly.

“Let’s say that you were looking for something in the dark but couldn’t find it or had nothing to light up the area. Wouldn’t casting create light be easier than spending time to draw the key?” Caren asks again questioning the uses of enhancing your sight.

“……….Yes, but it would be more fun than creating a ball of light.” Mercedes says slowly. Caren walks over to Mercedes giving her a large hug.

“Sorry about questioning your special keys. It just piqued my interest, my apologies.” Caren hugs Mercedes tighter. Vivi walks over to the hugging group as well, joining them in a large group hug.

The girls eventually break their group hug and settle back in their seats talking amongst each other about Caren’s logic over using keys to see in the dark versus just creating a ball of light. Apparently, Vivi wants to learn how to create a ball of light as well.

“It’s getting late Caren if you still want to visit the Headmaster we should leave now. I’m not sure how long his office is open till.” You say.

“Oh ok. Let’s go now.” Caren turns to Mercedes giving her a hug before waving goodbye and stepping out of the door. She seems somewhat excited about finally speaking with the headmaster regarding the vial.

“The sight key last for about 2 nights before it fades away. You can scrub it off at any time though.

Goodnight Sweetie.” Mercedes says.

“I’m going to talk with Mercedes a little longer before heading back to the room Saul. Take your time with the headmaster, if you come back late I’ll go to sleep on my own. Thank you for the help regarding Charles everyone. Learning your keys today Mercedes was a good distraction (72). I really appreciate it.” Vivi smiles to everyone.

“Likewise,” Caren says.

You and Caren leave Mercedes’s room making your way down the hallways. Caren doesn’t know where the headmaster’s office is, so you lead her towards it since it was your suggestion that you discuss with him first before tampering or experimenting with the strange vial that you received from the Blue Moon.

“Shouldn’t we stop by your room first to get the Vial?”

You shake your head and activate your item box, thinking of the vial. Much like when Dr. Frederick used his item box a swirling portal appears floating alongside you. Unlike his small purple portal, yours appears like a sea blue color. Dipping your hand inside you think of the vial, and when you pull it out the vial is in your hands. The vial and your hands feel like they are wet, though there are no visible droplets to show that they are.

“What was that?”

“An ancient magic I happened to pick up on. It lets me store items for safekeeping and retrieval at any time. Though I’m unsure as to what limits it may have.”

Before Caren can ask you something else you near the receptionist desk to see the headmaster. Mrs. Alabaster passes by your group giving a quick smiling glance at you before walking past the two of you. Near the entrance to the winding staircase that leads to headmaster’s office is the headmaster himself. He looks up from a small book he was reading noticing you and Caren’s presence near him.

>[1/2]
>>
“To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing two of my students past business hours?” Ozma asks.

“We had a question regarding a strange vial that we um…came across and wanted to ask you about it.” Caren says.

“A vial? Why not visit the alchemy or magical studies professor? Why come to the headmaster?”

“I study alchemy and by the first glance of the contents within I’m unaware of what it could be. I wasn’t the one who found it, my friend here was the one who did and thought it would be best to ask the headmaster regarding the vial.” Caren says.

“Well let’s see this mysterious vial Solomon, I have some time now since I already wasted my night.”

You hand the vial to the headmaster causing him to drop the book he was holding. He doesn’t say much but as he twirls the vials in the palm of his hands. He opens to the winding staircase motioning the two of you to follow him upwards, he picks back up his small book muttering to himself. You follow the professor to his room. His room is brightly lit hurting your eyes a little bit, but this it quickly goes away as he dims the lights and closes his blinds.

“How many people are aware that you possess this?” Ozma asks.

“Only two other my mistress and a girl who goes by the name of Mercedes.” You say.

“Tell me, Solomon…Where and how did you obtain this vial?” Ozma asks.

“We visited the blue moon restaurant, ordered what we thought was a special menu item based of rumors we heard around the academy. We were taken to a back room and saw a very shady man who believed that we were picking up something for a client of his. There was almost a strange cat there. I felt like it might have been magical in a way, though I didn’t get close to it. The shady man gave us the vial, and I just accepted without questions asked. It was a little scary if I have to be honest. It happened just a few days ago.” You say summing up your story.

Headmaster Ozma writes down some notes as you recount your story to him. He looks at the vial in his hands before resuming to write something else on his paper. He places the vial on his desk before leaving out a deep sigh.

“Thank you for telling me the truth, your story adds up to what my brother had reported to me.”

“Your brother?” you ask.

“My brother was the most likely man you saw in the back room of the Blue Moon. While his field of work gives off a very shady vibe, he runs a legitimate business. Well…Somewhat legitimate business. The cat was indeed magical, but I can’t tell you the effects of the said cat without seeing it first in person. After you took the vial. His real clientele came to pick up the vial, to find out needless to say that it had been taken by another person. Who came from Uramel Academy. Let me tell you, waking up and finding the first thing you open your eyes to is your younger brother surrounding your bedroom with other men in black suits it not a pleasant feeling. Then having to explain to your wife about…” Ozma begins to ramble on about explaining to Mrs. Alabaster about his brother that she never knew about.

>[1/2]
>>
“That’s great and all to hear Headmaster, but can you tell us why this vial is so important?” Caren asks.

“The vial…I’ll be confiscating it and be giving it to back to my brother. There’s no harm in telling you what it does, I guess. The contents of the vial are known as the [The Elixir of the Living]. When there is something dying nearby the vial will warm up and swirl on its own. Releasing the contents into someone will save a person’s who are falling off the line between life and death itself. For example, if a person is about to die from a disease or illness, the elixir will cure them off it as well as increasing their lifespan for 10+ years. If the person has been stabbed and is bleeding to death. The elixir will place them in a stasis quickly regenerating any lost blood or limbs. It’s nearly priceless, though the cost to craft one is far too much and requires many lives to perish.” Ozma places the elixir in his drawer. Then walks over to the two of you.

You remember the vial warming up in your chest area near the dying murtlap from the previous night.

“Thank you for taking the time and bringing this to my attention immediately. Others knowing that you had possession of this vial could have put your very lives at risk.” If there is something you’d like to know or a small request I might be able to provide it. I’m so glad I have at least some responsible students attending the academy. There are other students who would use it for their own gain and put themselves or others at risk.” Ozma is smiling writing down more things in his small book.

>Can you tell me more about your brother or how the Blue Moon operates?
I want to know what they do and if they have any rivals. We do still have that request from the other world and we need to decide whether it'd be wise to fill it.
>>
>>3506282

“Can you tell me more about your brother or how the Blue Moon operates? I’m somewhat curious.” You ask.

“I can't tell you much about my brother due to me wanting to protect some of his privacy, but I can tell you that The Blue Moon is a family owned business passed down to us from our father. The Blue Moon is a complex organization. It's business model at an initial glance is just a restaurant a hotel for traveling customers to sleep in. What really runs the business is what happens in the background. The Blue Moon is used as the middleman when exchanging goods or information. Depending on the value of what you want or want to know determines the price to receive it. Though this does mean that more illegal information and products will be exchanged as well.”

“Why wouldn’t the authorities just shut down the organization?” you ask.

“That’s a good question with a simple answer…It’s because in most cases they are treated as the middleman, that just exchange products. Mostly anonymously or code phrases that are given to you. Also, the authorities use the Blue Moon in help with their investigations as a last resort. Often they will turn a blind eye.” Ozma continues to scribble down something in his small book not turning a page.

“I’m assuming they have rivals then?”

“Of course, they do. If someone were to steal something and give it to the Blue Moon as payment for something, they would have to pay something of equal worth to retrieve it back. Those who decide to retaliate with force are dealt with. I shouldn’t have to say how.” Ozma looks up from his small book.

>[1/2]
>>
“Is there something you’d like to know as well young miss?” Ozma asks.

“I want to know if you can get me a book that is not in the library that shows the relationship of alchemy with ancient magic,” Caren says.

“That shouldn’t be too hard. I might have something back in my study room that I may be able to hand over.”

Caren smiles and beings to jump excitedly.

“I would like to have a word with Solomon privately, I’ll have a servant hand you the book sometime tomorrow,” Ozma says.

Caren grabs your hand and shakes it roughly.

“I thought it would have been a waste to come here after hearing that the vial was confiscated, but receiving the book will help me so much in my studies. Thank you, Saul! I’ll see you tomorrow.” Caren says before skipping out of the doorway.

Ozma continues to write in his small book. As you observe him you notice that when he reaches the end of the page he begins writing again from the top. He looks up at you, his expression is unreadable.

“Tell me how goes your search to find your individualism? I’m curious about your progress. Also, how are your magical studies? Have you made any friends? Is there anyone that you can speak about?”

>“I haven’t made much progress. The other day friend asked me what my dream was, and I told her that I didn’t have one. I’ve made friends in magical studies class.”

>“I think that magical studies are helping me get there. I’ve made some friends who have an interest in magic, which I do like.”

“I’ve made some friends, but one of them made me realize I didn’t have a dream to chase after, however silly it may be. I’m really enjoying magical studies.”

“Not having a dream can be a common occurrence is some people. Many wander through much of their lives without discovering their passion. The first thing you should be asking yourself when searching for such a dream is to know what you are interested in, what you enjoy to do. You tell me that you enjoy magical studies then try to chase after something that is magical related. In the magical studies, I’m sure that there are many of your fellow classmates have a dream of some kind that may have a relation to magic. Why don’t you ask them what it is and perhaps gain a different outlook on how you look at things. “Have you visited the library yet?” Ozma closes his small book placing it inside of his pocket.

“I have been there once before, but it was a short visit.”

“I recommend that start there and read up on our collection. Find something that you like. Once you find it try to simplify your life. Though tied to being a servant to Miss D’Roix will most likely take up your time in pursuing something that you would really want to do instead. Unless you enjoy the life of being a servant, then, by all means, continue with the work that you are doing now. When you find out your dream please come back here, I want to hear about it. I might even able to help you along the way.” Ozma takes out his small book once more writing inside of it.

“Why are you doing so much for me?” you ask.

“Why? Let’s call it a simple interest. I see a person who can be so much more than they currently are, and I’m simply interested where that person will go with a small guiding hand.” Ozma smiles at you before raising an eyebrow. “During your time here I been speaking with my brother, he’d like you to visit him the next time you're in town." Ozma gestures at the book in his hand. "He says to order Moonlight Swirl . I don’t know where he comes up with these names. You can leave now Solomon unless you have something else to say. I’d like to get some rest. I have a long day tomorrow.”

“Thank you for the advice, sir. I’ll look into what the library has to offer as well as my classmates goals or dreams for their future.”

Ozma nods to you as he sits back down at his desk putting his head down.

“Are you sleeping here tonight?” you ask.

“Yes. I rather not see my wife right now, so I’ll sleep on my desk instead.” Ozma says.

You shrug your shoulders allowing the man to sleep on his office desk. You slowly walk back towards the hallway and listen in on any conversations that are circling the academy.

I’m so excited to go see the great gala I here tickets are sold out!

The knitting club is hosting a fundraiser soon.

Prince Roland was seen around the D’roix Servant again. There is something going on between the two of them...

Prince Henrision & Roland have really different personalities. Henrison looks more like the older brother though.

The Headmaster will be attending the Gala tomorrow.

There will be a vote versus the cooking club and the servants in the kitchen for who cooks food for the rest of the month.

“Elizabeth tomorrow while everyone is gone for the gala we will go deeper under the school. I enlisted the help of one of the combat students next door to assist us with the task. If we had 2 more people with us, I’d feel a bit safer.”

It seems that most of the students in the academy are either speaking about the performance tomorrow which is called a ‘The Great Gala’ or about Roland’s behavior around the academy or yourself. As you near your room you catch a glimpse of Marcie entering her own room. She is holding a bright purple book in her arms. You shrug your shoulders and head into Vivi’s room. She is sleeping soundly in her bed, the moonlight outside is slightly illuminating her nearly fully exposed body. Sally the bird is silently chirping bird food within her mouth, it seems that Vivi has already fed her. You cover up Vivi a bit more with her blanket before moving back to your own room. Marcie is singing in her room, she doesn't seem to be going to sleep yet.

You decide to just head off to sleep tonight and get some rest. You have a long day tomorrow, while you don’t have any classes, you’ll have to attend to your servant duties as well. Not wanting to have another case of oversleeping you decide to just rest normally. You change into comfortable sleeping clothing and climb in bed. Marcie’s singing lulls you to sleep…

You try to open your eyes, but you cannot. You try to move your body, but you can’t feel anything matter of fact. You try to speak, but you are unable to form words. All you can see is darkness…but you hear a voice. The voice sounds familiar, much like Vivi’s father.

“Vivi D’Roix it is time that you wake up this instant.” You hear the voice say.

“You hear something stir and shuffle next to you. “Yes father, I’m up. My deepest apologies for oversleeping, I found it difficult due to having my big event today.” You hear Vivi say but she sounds different more refined, strange…

“Get dressed quickly and come see me in my office. My servant Alphonse will be waiting outside to make sure you don’t sneak off somewhere.” Vivi’s father says as he steps out of the room.

Still, the only thing that you can hear is Vivi’s humming and the rustling of clothing as she dresses by herself…There is a knock at the door.

“Mistress, please do hurry you know how little your father’s patience is.”

“Come in Alphonse, I’m just doing my hair.” You hear Vivi say as the sound of the door opens and large footsteps echo into the room.

“My lady. The schedule for today is your meeting with your father now, breakfast at 9:30, tea time at 10, brunch with the your father’s friends at 11, then we must hurry to the shopping center to pick out a dress, then come back in here in time for the we-” Alphonse is interrupted by the sound of a loud clapping sound.

“I understand what must be asked of me today. I can take care of myself without the need of a servant. Let’s go now, I want to get this day over with.” You hear Vivi yell out as she stomps out of the room with Alphonse following closely behind her.

The room becomes uncomfortably quiet. Being unable to move, speak, talk, or breathe…fills you with invisible anxiety that even now you are wondering why you aren’t feeling anything. You sit there alone in the darkness, alone to your own thoughts. You’re not sure how much time has passed by. Eventually, you hear the door open. Vivi begins to speak her voice is soft.

“Hey, Saul. Tonight is the big night, I’m getting married to the son of my father’s friend. I don’t even know his name, but it won’t matter after I’m done with him. The only person I need is you anyways…”

You hear the sound of hands touching cardboard. A light opens above the eternal darkness. As your vision clears you can see Vivi smiling, she appears as if she was her future-key self. She turns you away from her staring back in the mirror. In the mirror, she is wearing a red wedding gown. As you stare deeper into the mirror you see her holding a jar in her hands. What is inside of the jar is a floating head your head.

You scream.

Vivi laughs.

You wake up shooting outside of your bed. You look into the nearby mirror taking fast short breaths as you try to control your breathing. You can feel the beating of your heart rapidly as you try to calm yourself down.

Slowing down your breaths, and calming yourself you look outside the window while holding your head. It’s morning now, it’ll be time for breakfast soon. You just had a nightmare of being a detached head living under your mistress’s bed sealed inside of a cardboard box.

You are fully awake now, back in the academy, head still attached to your body. You take a moment to take a deep breath. Today is going to be a long day. You don’t have magical studies class, maybe you’ll go to the library or walk around the academy waiting for Vivi or Hiren to finish their academic classes. You also have to ask Hiren for something formal for your first date with Marcie tonight. Nodding to yourself you open up your wardrobe.

You put on your clothes for a servant. Moving into Vivi’s room you see that she is snuggling close to a pillow and is happily asleep. You’d probably let her sleep in a little more if it wasn’t for the fact that she skipped class yesterday. Moving your hand to her shoulder you begin to shake her lightly.

“Vivi its time to wake up.”

“Thirty more minutes Saul.” Vivi throws the pillow that she was snuggling at your face.

“Today you have classes and later you have to go see the performance with Charles. I’m sure he is expecting you at the dining hall for breakfast.”

“I’m up!” Vivi says quickly sitting up on her bed clearly feigning her drowsiness.

*Knock, Knock*

There is a knock on the door.

“Go see who it is Saul. It’s probably Mercedes wanting to walk with us to the dining hall.”

Nodding your head you open the door slightly to allow Vivi some privacy to put on clothing. At the door is Marcie wearing a black uniform and accompanying skirt the UA emblem is knitted near the bottom of it.

“Good Morning Saul. You weren’t answering your door so I thought you might be available in the next one.”

“Good Morning Marcie. What brings you here so early?” you ask.

“I wanted to know if you’d like to eat breakfast with Hiren and me in the club room, but I see that you might be a little busy with your duties as a servant.”

>“Sorry. I must help Vivi with her morning routine and see that she gets off to class on time. Along with other things later in the day, but I’ll make sure to see you and Hiren before the performance.”

“Sorry. I must help Vivi with her morning routine and see that she gets off to class on time along with other things later in the day. Let me ask Vivi first, maybe we can have lunch together instead.”

Marcie nods. You close the door and walk back to Vivi who is putting on her clothes.

“Who was at the door?”

“It was Marcie she invited me to go eat breakfast with her and another member in the club room, but I have to make sure you go to class on time.” You say.

“She’s here right now?” Vivi quickly puts on a random shirt and opens the door to her room. She looks outside then shrugs her shoulders. “She’s not here Saul! She must have left already.” Vivi says.

Looking out of the doorway you see Marcie shaking her head as she looks up at Vivi.

“Ahem.” Marcie clears her throat trying to get Vivi’s attention. Vivi looks downs.

“Hello. Who might you be?” Vivi asks.

“My name is Marcie Alabaster. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Vivi. Saul told me that you were looking forward to meeting me.” Marcie outstretches her hand.

Vivi takes Marcie hand slowly shaking it.

“H-hello.” Vivi stutters, but a smile grows on her face.

Seeing Vivi freeze up you step up to the two girls awkward handshake.

“Vivi this is my friend Marcie. She is the president of the Occult Club, as well as my partner for Magical Studies. Marcie this is my mistress Vivi D’Roix.” You say trying to introduce the two. Vivi doesn’t say anything as you finish.

“Are you alright Vivi?” you ask.

“Yes! Everything is alright. Why wouldn’t everything be alright?” Vivi says hastily.

“I was inviting Saul to eat breakfast with me and another club member for breakfast, but it seems that his duties as a servant come first. Would he be available for lunchtime? There are some things I want to speak with him about.” Marcie asks.

“Saul can see you at lunchtime, but right now he is really busy helping me do my uh…h-hair. Which we should be doing right now.” Vivi says as she moves back into the room beckoning you to follow her. You turn to Marcie.

“I’ll see you at lunch then, I’m sorry about Vivi’s behavior. She normally isn’t like this.” You say.

“When its time for lunch you can come find me in my room. I’ll be waiting for you.” Vivi winks before walking away towards the club room.

Stepping back into the room. Vivi grabs you by the shoulders.

“Saul! Why didn’t you tell me about your friend sooner? Did you see how short she was? Those ears they were pointy at the end, I've never seen anything like it! I wonder what it feels like to cut through. Tell me about her!” Vivi says excitedly.

“Have you never seen a Rara before?” you ask.

“A what?”

>“As I said before Marcie is my partner for magical studies. Her race is known as a Rara, they are short and have knife-shaped pointy ears.

“As I said before Marcie is my partner for magical studies. Her race is known as a Rara, they are short and have knife-shaped pointy ears.”

“I guess they do look like a knife,” Vivi says.

“She is a person just like anyone else. Please don’t think about cutting them up, just because they are different. She has a really good sense of hearing, by the way, I don’t think that she heard your last comment thankfully.” You rub your own ears as reference.

“I won’t…but get me something before the performance, it’ll help me relax during the performance.”

“I’ll…see what I can do. Let’s go to the dining hall for breakfast.” You say trying to move Vivi along with her day.

You leave Vivi’s room and go to the dining hall. You notice that the dining hall is serving more people than normal this morning. The two of you sit down alongside Charles & Mercedes who are currently sitting across from each other at your usual table.

“Where is Caren?” you ask Mercedes.

“I’m not sure, she hasn’t shown up yet,” Mercedes says.

“Saul there is something I must speak with you about regarding Vivi,” Charles says.

“What is it?”

“After classes, Vivi will have some time with her lady friends to get properly dressed. Afterward, we’ll be taking a private vehicle with the headmaster along with some other students to the location. There will be several other cars coming to pick up students from the academy so you may ride in any of those to the venue. After the performance, a private dinner will be held along with some of the people who performed. I’ll see if you are able to attend as well, but it's unlikely. If you came as Vivi’s servant you could attend without a doubt, but you would have to leave your date behind.”

“Is there anything Vivi should know before departing?” you ask.

Charles shrugs his shoulders. “Just be herself, we’re sitting in an area with others so we don’t have the luxury to speak with others during the performance. Though there will be an interval break to allow people to use the restroom and such.”

A servant comes to your table serving today's breakfast. Pumpkin pancakes with bourbon vanilla maple syrup. The flavor of the pumpkin is increased by cinnamon and nutmeg. Looking over to Vivi she becomes fully focused on the pancakes in front of her, breathing in the fall like spices that have been added to her breakfast.

>Focus on your meal, just make small talk

You decide to follow along with Vivi’s example and focus on eating your food. While you eat Charles asks you how your day was yesterday.

“Not much happened. Went to class, spent some time with Marcie and then ate dinner with Mercedes.” You say shrugging your shoulders.

Charles nods his head and delves back into his food. Vivi and Mercedes are speaking to each other about their favorite animals, but their conversation soon becomes more muddled along with other conversations happening in the dining hall. While you eat your food, you find it somewhat difficult to focus on a person’s conversation, as the dining hall seemingly grows louder. Looking up from your breakfast you see that the usual population of students who eat breakfast in the dining hall has grown. Eventually, you finish your meal and the rest of the table are cleaning themselves up preparing to go to class.

“I wonder where Caren is…” Vivi says as she gets up from the table.

“I’m sure we’ll see her in class Vivi. See you later sweetie!” Mercedes says.

“I’ll see you sometime after classes Saul,” Vivi says leaving you behind following Mercedes.

Charles gives a slight nod to you as he leaves the dining hall as well. There are several other students taking their time to eat their breakfast that they were provided. Though classes will be starting soon for them and they’ll be late.
