Rules Clarification

1. Population isn't very important in the grand scheme, however if you want to keep track of your own pop, whichever way you feel comfortable doing is fine.
2. For the most part, OP will decide the outcomes of actions, although will allow dice rolls on some things; it's a case by case basis.
3. OP will introduce random events every now and then, though players may roleplay their own if they wish. There will be civ-specific and global events over the course of the game.
4. Wait until at least 7 people have posted their actions before you post any more, but feel free to post as many roleplay only & lore posts as you like.
5. This is a slow game, there will probably be only 1 or 2 updates per day.
6. Cheating wise, rushing techs or magic, metagaming, unsportsmanlike behaviour. OP may inflict a nasty random event on your civ up to straight up removing you from the game.
7. For the most part, just go with the flow, and please don't talk back to OP.

Action 1:
On the river by the ruins a collection of bronze shells are uncovered, these constructs are seen to be perfect for traversing the river, and is sturdy enough to brave the rapids.

Using this new tool further population expansions are established in the mountains across the river and across the river to the west

Action 2:
Under the expansions a status quo has been established, in each agricultural zone different tribe leaders take precedent over others, forming loose chieftains based on mutual trust during hard times.

There are three current types, with some overlap:

Valley nomads:
Said to be Born in the lluta saddle these tribes wander the valleys, occasionally raiding when such an action is required.

Oasis Farmers:
Tribes of farmers gather around oasis’s, crafting terraces from which to grow their food. They are isolationist, and will only send menial aid to their brothers in need.

Llama herders:
Nomads like the lluta riders these groups wander the mountains in search for patches of grass from which to feed their flocks, sometimes they have llutas in which they ride upon.

Immediately, the naturalist fall into a far more cautious system of observation. Every person carries a dagger and is constantly accompanied by spearmen. People stay in groups of five or more and stay within eyeshot of one another.Word comes back from the capital that the Copo are now considered a threat and ought to be eliminated quickly but humanely. With this in mind, the naturalists quickly devise a method for clearing caves. The first step is the construction of piles of brush and dry twigs near the entrance of the cave. Next, fish are used to lure the Copo in. The cave is sealed with stone or wet logs and the piles set alight, fillling the cave with thick clouds of smoke. The smoke causes the Copo to fall asleep, suffocate, and die. The caves are cleared, washed out, and use again. In this method, the Copo population is decimated, any stragglers easily overwhelmed and disposed of by spearmen tasked with that specific job. In order to accelerate the process of cleaning the caves, the Tarns build a hand-pump that allows the pressurization of water before a rapid release. These bulky pumps can spray water across broad areas, helping to limit the destructiveness of fires within the Tarnish cities. A variant of these pumps in constructed to allow the pumps to be fitted to dedicated ships to douse fires occurring at sea using seawater. In addition, due to a new awareness of the possible threats that surround them, the Tarns create a new variant of ship, the ramming galley. A heavy steel ram affixed to the prow of the ship allows these boats to charge in and break an enemy ship. These ships have broad sails and quick rudders, allowing for rapid turnaround and a fast top speed. These ships are stationed at the naval complex in Tercester, ready to move at a moments notice. The bones and evidence of habitation by the Copo are cleaned up, any mention of the existence of the Copo are stricken from public record (though not from the royal library), and and the settlement of the area by building a new village is encouraged in an attempt to cover up any signs of the previous civilization. The only evidence of what happened here is the dramatically increased number of spearmen patrolling the area, still on the lookout, though they are never told precisely what for.

In the garden established in the apothecaries college, those strange tubers were planted so long ago. Research notes show that the plant grows fast, is nutritious, and has a very, unique quality: Multiple tests have shown that the tuber will expand to fill an area when exposed to liquids. Granted, there is a limit to this, but this has provided a very interesting use...

Actions:

1. Planting the tubers for food has proved fruitful in test batches, and it has been put into crop rotations. Hearty and fast growing, the tubers prove to be successful.

2. In other developments, the tuber, when dried and combined with the anesthetic plant, creates a very effective medical tool. When a strip of the plants are applied to a cut or wound, the tuber expands, which blocks off the wound, while the anesthetic numbs the pain, allowing for the person to get proper medical help without much discomfort. This kind of "Sealing Bandage" is being mass produced as fast as possible for use by soldiers and citizens alike.

1. Awoo Experiments
2. Sail West

The message from the Dryad has given the Uskijorans some warning. In the collective space of the Umma the debate over what to do next comes down to a vote. The end result of it is a decision to send ships west, to find the source of the foul wind of which the Dryad speaks and put a stop to it before it can end the world. At home the preparations for a defense are made by members of the Battleminded. It isn't just physical defenses, but psychic ones. More power to the Conduit, more talendric training. Every Uskijoran, when pressed, it a formidable fighter even if they abhor it. With the Conduit and Azurwood armaments a Battlemind or Warrformed are more potent than a battalion of knights on the charge. Fed power by the Umma they are exceptionally powerful and exceedingly well-trained in their long lives.

Another experiment takes place but with the newly arrived Awoos. The experiment was simple: can the Awoo contribute to the Umma's overall power? It is difficult to say. If the Awoo's own latent psyche could be utilized as an additional power source with the Uskijoran's own inherent power it could ramatically increase the level of psychic power thrumming through the Conduit.

"We see no reason to disallow open trade in our cities, as long as you abide by our laws and restrictions, there will be no issues."

Nelis glances behind him towards their guard detail, and then speaks up. "Torbin, where are our Vay guard detail?" Torbin, also glances around. There should be 10 guards, two from each representing clan. His were not there. He started to wonder what they were doing when an annoyed looking Soldier and an Awoo in armor walked into the chamber. "Sir! Pardon our delay in attendance, Sir!" The soldier spoke, as he stripped himself and the Awoo of weapons before properly entering the room. The Vay representative excused himself from the table, and walked over to his guards. "It's alright Araen. I'm assuming your wife was distracted by all the decorations?" The Awoo smiled at him, tail wagging. "Sorry, uh, ser! Niia was looking at the pretty men!" She half yelled, before being quieted down by Araen. "She means the statues outside Sir. Again, I apologize greatly for this interruption." Torbin put a hand on the guard's shoulder. "It's fine, just go with the rest of the guards, and keep Niia quiet." With that, the two joined with the rest of the Human guards, and Torbin returned to the table.

"I see no reason what so ever to not agree to such a deal. Trade is a natural thing that should be practiced by merchants and so long as they follow the laws of the lands they are in they should be allowed to conduct their business freely. Not only would it benefit the merchants but also the economy and prosperity of all those who's markets and ports allow foreign traders. It is my belief that it would be foolish for anyone not to accept a deal for free trade." Carsten Grüber would state before going silent as the western Wilde seemed to have an incident with one of their guards, surprisingly enough one of them being one of those Heulen that were occasionally seen in some places inside Starkebrisen lands.

>>3476658

>Action One.
Seeing the general struggle with the jungles, and how terrible of a location it was, the Verhal and Verstark who went out into the wilds would instead turn their attention north to the deserts and the rivers that flowed through them. Potentially, with a bit of work, the dry lands could be made fertile with some utilization of the rivers that ran through the lands, and if not, they still could hug the rivers for water and rout what they need to locations that had any resources of note, though both would certainly take some time. Either way, if there was no good land for the Starkebrisen to colonize, they'd make the land good, well, so long as paranoid natives weren't near by anyway...

>Action Two.
Military experience and expertise should be the main, if not only, factors influencing who rises through the ranks of the Starkebrisen army. As such, the requirements for people to rise to such ranks are increased to ensure that our officers and generals are men of reason and learning who can inspire the common soldiers on the field of battle and utilize tactics enemies of the Republik will be unable to counter. A proper place for the learning of military matters would be solidified and constructed in the capitol, and it is here that the future generals, officers, and all leaders in the army will learn, as well as better centralizing at least some of our efforts at mastering the art of war to some extent. Though thankfully with the current summit, such things might not be necessary for quite some time.

"You will need to look elsewhere for that deal, Mephie. We do not give birth like mortals on this world do. There is no womb, no place to carry the young to term other than the earth itself. >>3478647
This time, Yames spoke up for the FHS. "There is a small area of grasslands inbetween our borders, something we all need to speak about..." A few guards glared at the Ver, and Niia even growled slightly, though Araen calmed her down. Yames glanced over his shoulder at the Awoo before continuing. "...There is a small unclaimed area that could support a sort of unaligned settlement where all of our peoples could coexist and where we could meet for matters of diplomacy."
>>
>>3478701
“Interesting. Certainly, such an idea would be possible. However, I’m concerned that such a positioning would inconvenience those of us who don’t have land bordering there. My understanding of the area is that there is an unclaimed strip of land leading all the way out to sea. What if we set aside that entire strip, then dig a canal and small harbor so that they can sail in? That would be a good solution for all of us.”
>>
>>3478730
Yames smiled at the Tarnish man. "That would be an excellent idea, and my clan, Clan Varke, would be able to assist in clearing any vegetation to make the digging easier for all of us."

REPLIES I

>>3476668
The laughter tormented Father still, but quieter and not so incessantly. Every so often Father would dig out the box from wherever he had hidden it only to scream profanities at it and bury it again. He found it almost therapeutic.
Crossing the badlands at its narrowest, Children pour into the desert, only to be confronted with rivers. It is across the northern waters that a strange sandstone fortress is spotted. Father may very well like to see this for himself.

>>3476679
As the nomads are scouting, they see what must have created the wasteland in the north. Flesh. Indistinct. Autonomous. Devouring. Even the strongest of Munayuc stomachs turn.
(oasis farmers may also buy lluta guano from their brothers as fertiliser.)

>>3476685
Even with one finger less than the Amazons, the lizards quickly pick up this sign language, proving their intellect. It is found that they do not give each other names, relying instead of distinct smells/pheromones. What is also found is that the pheromones produced as female lizards begin to ovulate drives the males of the Yulklin mad with lust! But thankfully for their own kind, and not the lizzies.
Moonshine is made for the spirits. But they do not come. Rituals are performed for the spirits. But they do not come. Spitting and swearing is had at the spirits. But they do not come. Aunt Jemima shifts in her bed, "It's tha storm. Drivin' tha s'prits away. It'a be here soon," she sucks her teeth, "feel it in ma Bones!"

>>3476805
To the last, the Copo are exterminated. Those kept by nobles as a curiosity are likewise destroyed, the very name "Copo" causes Tarn to shudder with revulsion. The village built on the taken land is populated only by the hardiest, and least superstitious, Tarn. But soon even these men complain of screaming nightmares. The valley is called haunted, cursed, and more, few venture there, despite it's deposits of fine stone.

The Awoo are many things, but it is soon discovered that psychic is not one of them.
The ships are stocked for months of voyage, longer than any Uski vessel has been at sea. First past the long stretch of beach, broken only by a short centaur controlled coast. On this second beach, octopi similar to the ones once caught dead whilst fishing are found... on land. Curious, but not evil. Past this, strong currents drag the boats north towards an island of jungle and swamp, yet so far from the Umma the Uski cannot steer it away, only soften the scuttling. (>>3476718)

Action 1:
With the end of the era of freest expansion begins the era of lords, on the borders lie things even more alien to their culture then the wastes in which hey dwell upon.

The ruins have now formed a unified nation, the city state of Achulla, which, using its centralized power system is able to bring the nearby lands under its fold, in response other great leaders consolidate their holds, creating city states that emulate the venerable bastion city.

>The main Machuman tribe is now the capitol city of Achulla, and all lands owned occupied by overworld machumans are now formal.

Action 2:
All nearby uncontested hills and mountains are colonized.

Sand Skimmers dart across the sands, a fleet of 12 was sent from Nordath to claim territory before the winged ones could. Sand-Yurts made camping far easier on the cold desert nights. Eventually, the sand sailors would come across a river, and would easily ford across them. After the second however, they caught sight of, a village? Yes, a village of dark skinned men, Humans in fact! They would approach the wary tribesmen, and over a few weeks teach them their language. For now, the land these "Uru" occupied would stay their own, and that which surrounded it would go to the Free Human State. If the Uru ever wished to join the FHS for whatever reason, the Caldathi agreed that they would immediately be allowed.

"I believe that we can either have a city partially controlled by all that has its own set of laws could work as a place where upon diplomatic hearings may be held. There is an alternative where a building specifically for diplomacy with other nations may be held in each capitol city, however the unified construction of a single city for such matters is likely a better and more centralized idea. However, I should note the lands I believe you are proposing that such a canal would be built in are near a tribe of peoples who seem similar to the western wilde, and would rather not have one come near. I advise that my people provide guard and potentially talks with these people so that they do not harm the construction of the city or the canal, and hopefully, said tribal's will be able to be uplifted along the way."

>>3479067

>Action One.
A large amount of Verstark soldiers, Verhal Kleinerpfeileers and some of the people from the Society for Exploration and Discovery of the Wild who apparently had seen the statue like creatures in the mountains would be prepared to deal with them, specifically by guarding in the area they were sighted the most, and in doing so trying to learn if they were actually intelligent and if they were properly hostile, along with dealing with them properly for the safety of the Republik if they were merely unintelligent beasts that saw the Republik's people as prey...They also would to a lesser extent search for the few missing people that were reported, or at least their remains...Either way, hopefully, once they are dealt with, the people in the mountains would be able to start proper work and be in larger numbers.

>Action Two.
With the discovery of shells that could actually make lime, along with the fact that the settlers who actually, well, settled the deserts were find thanks to sticking to the coasts and water, many more would try their luck out in these barren lands, sticking to the coasts and rivers as they went and looking for any resources of note that they potentially could profit from. Worst case scenario, they'd be able to make glass to sell at least, even if it was likely to get cheaper if the expansion into the sands continued, which it likely would.

Many Months had passed for the Awoo tribe of Moji. Many things had happened, unprecedented growth, Moji staring upon four children who waddled and managed forth small sentences, who held the spark of intellect.

Yet Moji was....afraid. The elder who had met the Uski spoke fondly of them. It was to the east that Moji was scared. That they smelled them, that they almost tasted something on the wind. That ears were tucked in and whines coming from even elders.

>Action 1.
Awoo population in the past few years has become substantial, perhaps nearing ten thousand or even fifteen thousand even with many of them being young. Moji, the elders and the adults find the current situation untenable and as such the children will be put to work, though unsmart and needing guidance, their increased strength makes them invaluable for all future projects and the Awoos will certainly try to make sure their children are unharmed as best they can.

>Action 2.
The Awoo had expanded down to the south, to the mountains where the Uski lay. Genuine dirt roads made from long tracks of the Kan'nefa have spread and citys have been made on places where it is best to stop. The Awoo both navally with the Uski and themselves and landwise have actually set up methods of recieving and giving goods throughout the tribe.

Hopefully this expansion of more villages, of traderoutes and of the making of roads will benefit all Awoo of Moji's tribe.

The sources of this malady must be discovered. Every method is employed towards this effort. Medicine men are sent to the area to investigate the symptoms and effects of proximity to the canyon. Investigators and soldiers comb through the Copo ruins(the fragments remaining at least)looking for any clues that might reveal what is going on. Augurs are sent, sacrifice chickens and lambs and reading the entrails for clues that might show what has happened here.

The Uskijora residing in Ru asks to speaks with Moji about matters of great concern.
>>
>>3480218
The message arrives somewhat quickly via the numerous boats and Moji is there. Stepping off a canoe with children who stare and gently move about. Who blabber small intelligeble questions pointing at things and people.

Moji's strides are strong as she comes before the Uski. Her Eye's holding the red of the moon, holding the moon in her pupils, chubby and well fed she speaks.

>"it's about the bad smell isen't it?"

Her voice firmer, an intelllect in the Awoos eye's clear as day.

"No. It's about the threat to your west. It's coming, and you need to be prepared for it. We will build a Conduit here so we can better fight with you when it comes. The Awoo need to gird themselves for struggle and conflict before it reaches your doors."
>>
>>3480454
Moji is nearly silent for a few moment's, eye's half-lidding before they nod.

>"I was talking about that, Awoos can smell it. I can smell it, my...kin, my children have my mind, my smarts and they will secure the Awoo peoples futures. I will fight as needed to protect them."

The former slums of Andreth had been going under deconstruction in the time since the uprising. With most of the structures ruined already, it was deemed a waste to try and salvage anything. Thus, the area became a test bed for Varken engineering personnel to experiment with various demolitions and sapping techniques. With the improved and now non-explosive Flame Sprayers, engineers took notes on how long it would take for buildings of various materials to be razed, and some experimented with different mixtures of the compound. A few began designing a more portable form of the sprayer, with the tank of compound being mounted on the back, and a tank of compressed propellant air being able to be changed out when they run out. These so called "MK2 Flame Sprayers" were only in the minds of designers, with a working prototype being a far off reality. The Daiimad also discussed what to do with the sizable area the slums once took up. Many clans would draft up ideas for the area, with Clan Varke's idea for an area filled with practical-oriented artisans, I.e. blacksmiths, architects, scientists, gaining much traction among the other clans...

The Uru want nothing to do with these pale men from the north. They smell of death, and conquest. Those missionaries attempting to "teach their language" are ignored, or brushed aside. What good is learning this language, it is a foot in the door to take what is not theirs. Guards are set at the Uru's walls to keep out these people.
Well, it seems that was a bust, but the sand here is perfect for the production of glass, a relatively new industry to the world. The Ver- had begun selling it, and their secrets were soon discovered. Ver- glass had a distinct green lustre to it, which those in the FHS could not recreate.

Hemmed by the wastes to the north, and steep river valleys to the west, the Machuman take all that is available to them. In the hilly land across the river, they find the water tainted with effluence and blood. This would be no place to farm, only fortify.

Stone is quarried outside Jibber, in an attempt to emulate the buildings of the Tarn. These quickly sink in the soft mud of Actkin. Yulklin homes may not be pretty exactly, but they are built for their environment. Some even take pride in that.
The beaches of Huey Island are taken, and with them comes more fishing spots, perhaps even somewhere nice to build a dock, though it's fun watching those Tarnies scramble up the cliffs at Jibber.

The Awoos settled further south, meeting the wastelands the Devourers had created, though thankfully they were gone by then. The rivers here ran brown, and the smell was foul. Only the most dedicated Awoos could stand it to inhabit the shanty town of Uki. The river here was deep & wide enough to allow Uski ships to traverse it, it also meant it was too dangerous for the Awoo to bridge it. At least for now.

Two headlands remain in the West, though the Children can see there is little new in them. The East is another matter entirely. Scaling the hills and pouring into the desert something rather interesting comes into view. Through the eyes of his Children, Father can see what it is.

The place is thoroughly examined, including the west bank of the river. The phenomena was experienced only on the east bank, and only within a few miles of the Copo valley. In the hilly territories claimed many moons ago, a new discovery is made. As the Apothecaries College catalogued the flora of the area, small collections of pale blue flowers which smell faintly of rotting meat are found in the more remote areas. Though they are inedible, and moreover foul-smelling, they produce a lighter than air gas, which remains so seemingly indefinitely. Experiments are immediately ordered.

>>3480906(Demand for glass increases, increasing your supply of iron, southern fish, and Amber)
Action 1: The new invention of glass quickly spreads through the trade routes, along with the basic understanding of how to make it. Though there’s little interest in mass producing glass(it’s far cheaper and safer simply to buy it from the Starkbreisen Republic) there is a bit of interest in the creation of art through breaking the glass and gluing the shards back together in pleasing patterns. One artist discovers that mixing amber dust with molten glass creates shards with vivid yellow and orange colors.
>Yellow and orange stained glass

Action 2: While investigating what was once the Copo canyon, it is discovered that the source of the malady is not physical. However, the precise nature and range of the malady hasn’t been determined. The People of Tarn extend feelers out, surreptitiously, looking for someone willing/able to construct a device that can sense or measure metaphysical energies.

Finally the dwindling supply of dark glass could be restored.

But deeper within the strange cave the sound of ticking can be heard distantly, through bending 90 degree turns and indecisively dusty caverns the sound can be heard ever so distantly.

They dare not yet go deeper, for demons may lurk in places yet unseen.

Due to the new city state monopoly on dark glass many of the surrounding city swear their fealty to the Quapaq of the great city.

Action 2:
To the south lie strange settlements, not formed by fellow machumans but strange machumanoids which do not need to wear protection in the sun.

These creatures do not seem to be well protected and even sleep during the night, so because of this will make excellent raiding targets.

The Uskijoran maiden known as Li'asi is seated before a cadre of Tarnish men of note. She is alone, and unlike the Warriorformed who spoke with the Lizzies, this one looks human. She is unspeakably beautiful in appearance. Her mannerisms are delicate and practiced. Everything from the way in which her legs are crossed to the straightness of her face to the set of her delicate jaw bespoke of someone with intense personal and mental control over every aspect of their being. She was a Battlemind, a force of psychic nature, and she was cheating. She wasn't actually this pretty, frankly she was rather plain, but it was an easy task to glamour herself to look utterly perfect to these Tarnmen.

"I come with ill tidings," she says. "In the East is a primal force of hunger, devouring all in its path. We have spoken with the Dryad of the world, she who is one with the earth, and she has given to us warning. Evil heads west. We will do what we can to halt its advance, but we can only do so much alone against such a power. If this wicked gale is to be blunted before it sweeps your shores, your people will need to aid us."

The first such village sits a mild distance from the river proper. Surrounded by stone walls of moderate height, but positioned upon a hill as to command the heights of the lowland below, it is a modest but formidable bastion. Despite the deep of night there appear to be few lights still on within the settlement that the Machumans can see so far below. They could approach, but it is unknown yet as to whether or not they have been spotted.

The College scrambles to collect the gas and flowers that grow it for study. While they stink worse than shit, their properties are fascinating. The smell was found to be a method of attracting insects for pollination, and the lighter than air properties helped to spread that sent far and wide to bring many insects to the patches. The first idea for a practical use came from a scientist of Clan Varke, who trapped some of the gas in a waterproofed canvas bag, and sealed it with raw pitch. The rather thin bag rose quickly to the ceiling, and when brought outside, floated out of sight. The frenzied scientist quickly tried this with thicker bags and with ones coated in more sealant. When released, the bag quickly rose, but slowed down and remained in eyesight before blowing away in the wind. After that, more experiments were performed to test the limits of the gas. It was combustible, which was somewhat expected. Then came the biggest test. Over the course of a few weeks, the engineers would draw up, prototype, and finally test the first airship! Well, airship is stretching it. A few smallish balloons were attached to a rowboat. Two men climbed in, and untied the boat from the posts it was tied to, and the boat slowly climbed into the sky. The crew and scientists cheered, and when the wind began to pick up, the "crew" began to cut balloons off, and the boat jerked down to the ground.

Actions:

1. With the first test a success, Clan Varke was tasked by the Daiimad to divert their attention almost exclusively to the research, development, and creation of the new science of "Aeronautics". Aeronautical studies became a top priority. Within the next few month, a small "Sky-Sloop" was created, with a flat bottom, high walls, and 2 clusters of balloons tied and netted to the hull. Propelled by sails, the craft achieved a modest speed at a maximum "ceiling" of about 40 feet. Spare balloons, casks of the gas, referred to as Liftum, and "Needle-pikes" to deflate balloons for landings are all standard on this first vessel. The project was a joint effort between Clans Varke and Caldath.

2. The former slums are dedicated to manufacturing and the sciences. Clan Varke, probably jumping ahead a bit, drafts up an "Aerowharf". This has not gained much approval as of yet, as most clans want more work done with the airships before investing more into the program then what the Daiimad has granted.

Unawareness had shielded the first dozen of so raiders scaling the wall, but their presence was not hidden for long. Scaling the walls had triggered an alarm that alerted the guards to the presence of an intruder. That alone would have been fine, but the wanton murder of some of the people that were enjoying time together around a musician made clear that there intruders meant harm. For the dozen in the town were able to reap a limited amount of havoc before literally being smashed by the talendric force of a nearby Battlemind. Of the sentries exactly two were left alive and catatonic. They would be useful later.

The sentries on the wall had little issue spotting the creatures attempting to scale the wall after that point. From their elevated position it was little issue to literally swat them off its sheer surface with talendra. Those that weren't swatted were simply picked up and dropped two to three hundred feet back to the bottom of the defile where they bounced a few times. Whether or not the remaining forces attempted to test its defenses further was yet to be seen.

>Action One.
With the seeming demand for glass in other nations being on the rise, and with the simple fact that the green glass that the Republik could make was of its own special quality which only drove up the desire for it to the civilized folk in the south, the colonists into the sand seem to be on the rise. What was once thought as something that was only a minor find seems to have actually made quite the impact on the market, and needless to say, most didn't want to miss the chance. Additionally, it meant some would experiment with trying to make different colors...

>Action Two.
Speaking of, the exported colors of glass from the republik has expanded due to the work by a Barbara Wernhers, who managed to, with a bit of clever work that they consider a 'trade secret' make red and blue stained glass. Though, for those who actually know where she lives, its quite obvious the materials to make such a color of glass come from the rocky lands north of the desert that was already colonized. Seems the western part of the desert that slowly was being colonized was full of the materials to make glass of the three main colors...Maybe other colors could be made by mixing these materials in different amounts? Either way, testing with that likely would happen sooner rather than later...

The representative for Clan Selvan speaks up towards the Ver. "Why not just exterminate them? We could assist in the effort, as a gesture of good faith between our people." The half-elf states this in a completely serious manner, and the others more or less agree, with 2 voicing that they should go with the more reactive approach, cordoning off the tribal grittidim's area and only killing off the tribe if they try anything. The disturbing nature of such acts seems genuinely lost on the humans, as they begin to whisper to each other over which method is best for dealing with the tribals.
>>
>>3482711

The advisers seem to have mixed reactions to this, a few clearly shocked, others surprised, one just sighing and putting a hand over his forehead, and the Military adviser remaining steadfast and saying in ver "Or they could just confirm that theory like that." Carsten would seem to take a moment before asking "Were...those charred bones we found your doing?" they'd not say anything else after this, not wanting to influence their words, even if their reactions might have done so enough already...
>>
>>3482963
Olita gave a confused look, as it had been a long time since the Half-goat Grittidim had been wiped out, and most had forgotten all about their existence. “I’m not sure what you are talking about. Where were these bones?” The others began to think back to the first period of expansion, Torbin especially had vague memories of a small engagement near what is now Port Eveshaw, but he hadn’t been a part of it, and hadn’t heard anything more about it than that it happened at all.
>>
>>3482166
"You humans have such inefficient means of governance. Yes, fine, the town elder and then I'll just have to have him take me to the local elder to someone that can actually discuss this matter."
>>
>>3483003

"They were bones that looked to be a mix of goat and that of a Verhal or Verstark without wings...It was in Drachen Freikarte...The valley between the mountains that are our home. Specifically the northern portion near the river and not too far from your enclave port city. Additionally, all the bones were charred, as if they had been burned...Do you know what they might be and why they are there?"
>>
>>3483058
Torbin recalled some details he had remembered thanks to the ver's further explanation. "There was a hostile tribe in that area, and the settlers in what is now Port Eveshaw feared that the tribe would attack and do unspeakable things to them based on what they had witnessed from scouting. I believe that the bodies were burned after the fight had ended. Other then that, I can't remember anything else." Olita shuddered a bit at the mention of "Unspeakable things", as usually that referred to rape. "Yeah just like the el-" She was silenced by Oliik before she said anything else. "That's enough Olita. We get it."
>>
>>3483079

Naturally, this begged a very important question from Carsten. "Did they ever actually attack anyone, have any weapons what so ever, and did their people actually fight back or was it a slaughter?" He was able to sound calm, and clearly, his current position wasn't envied by his advisers, though to them it was clear this calm was merely them controlling their emotions. Regardless, it was quite clear that a good portion of the advisers with him were...uneasy at the very least...
>>
>>3483089
"Again, I have no idea. I wasn't there. Related to the Vay-Sah I may be, but that doesn't mean I'm nearly as invested in the border regions and their conflicts. All I know was that it was a preemptive strike. Whether the Grittidim had any weapons or fought back, I have no idea. " Torbin stood up, and excused himself from the table. He walked over to the guards, and asked if they had any had knowledge of a skirmish neat the Eveshaw region. None did, as they were guardsmen assigned to the Daiimad, not active duty infantrymen. Niia however did point out that the Vay commander that found their band left for a while, and returned after some battle. He thanked her, and returned to the table, where Gret had been talking. "I don't understand why you would care for some degenerate tribe on the frontier, or what we do to them. They represented a threat to our people, and we dealt with it in a matter that assured that specific group would not threaten the settlers again. Besides, why do you think we had so many patrols in the area? We should have pushed in more and exterminated whatever others were in the surrounding areas." It was obvious they didn't know that the tribe killed were the only of their kind.
>>
>>3483116

When they state that it was a preemptive strike, the military adviser simply would look at the Tarn and say in ver "I hope you know what you are doing, bringing these...Stunted murderous flightless here to negotiate. I can now see why you disallowed arms in here." Carsten would motion for the adviser to stop, and he'd do so. Though, the FHS representatives would be able to hear what he said, even if they couldn't understand him... Carsten would say "There were no tribes found in Drachen Freikarte, just you and the charred remains of your work...I...must admit I wasn't expecting the Wilhelmian theory to be the true one..." They'd make a pause for a bit before thinking for a bit, mostly on what to say, what not to say, and if they should just go back to business and end this train before his advisers started asking for preparations of defense...eventually saying "Please, do not attack the tribal people in the jungle...I doubt I, or whoever gets voted in shortly after I return will be pleased to learn of that, and I doubt the tarn would be happy either. They will be for us to deal with ourselves, and in a much less...violent manner than what you have planned. And I hope that you respect this decision, even if you might not like it..."
>>
>>3483176
The FHS representatives are completely confused. If these jungle tribes are violent, why allow them to live? If these people were attacked, would they just lay down and take it? Madness, utter madness. "If the tribals attack our people, we shall deal with them in our ways. That is something we cannot give up on. If they don't bother us, we will ignore them. Other then that, I believe it is time we speak on borders, and more importantly, Your rapid expansion towards our lands." He speaks accusingly at the Ver.

The tension in the air is like a a garotte wire. The People's own advisers seem just as horrified as the Starkbreisen are, the casual tone with which the FHS discuss genocide startling them. The People understand that this is it, this is the moment the alliance will stand or shatter. They speak.
"That's enough, [Starkbreisen representative]. Let's keep in mind that some nations have had a more violent and traumatic path to their current position than you or I. I understand that the FHS do things in a way that you may find disagreeable, but ultimately the events we speak of happened long ago. We have little context or understanding of what took place there, just knowledge of the outcome. Seek to to understand, not to condemn."
They shoot a strong disapproving glare at the diplomat who had leaned over before turning to the FHS side of the table.
"We understand where your people are coming from, but please keep in mind that the conference is based on open-mindedness and acceptance. One day, the tribe we speak of may sit at this very table. The removal of an entire people for our own convenience is antithetical to the motives of this conference and of many of the individuals who sit before you. I would advise that you no longer bring it up. That being said, your other idea of simply limiting their expansion is a good one. We can use mixed complements of soldiers to patrol the border between our land and theirs, ensuring that our workers can work without interference.

The People of Tarn receive word of a strange woman, preaching a sermon of extinction and attempting to reach the highest figures possible. The descriptions of her vary tremendously, but all agree that she is the most beautiful person they have ever seen. Using those exact words, every time. Interesting.
Regardless, the People will have to meet with her before her message falls into the wrong hands. There are those out there who would benefit significantly at their expense if what she said was true. And besides, is might be a good chance to test the new metareal detector that the court scientists had constructed. The lady is brought to the capital and granted an audience with The People of Tarn.

The tribe of Moji had grown in many ways weaker and stronger then it had ever been. Not as cohesive, with slower communication, but overall a rather large and continually growing entity.

Outside goods arrived by the shipload and the Awoos happily shared with their friends the Uski all that they really had.

Moji...was quiet as she stared at numerous items, as she stared at so many things that could improve Awoo society.

"I do not believe that your people have ever waged full scale war, so I get why you don't understand this. In the opening stages of conflict, there is the Proactive path, and the Reactive path. Proactive means to strike first, strike hard, and strike often. To be Reactive means to wait until the opponent makes the first move. Both have their merits and flaws. We have chosen in recent years to be Proactive in our fighting. If you don't get that, an analogy would be throwing the first punch in a fight vs waiting for the other person to do so." Explained Torbin.

Carsten would seem to think for a while before saying "War is not the destruction of a people. A nation may be defeated in conflict without its people killed to the last. Engaging in a policy of wanton destruction and extermination will only gain you more enemies than it removes, as those who pay attention will fear they are next, and those who share such idea's will likely wish to see you yourself exterminated for being different. Additionally, do not punish the laborer for the actions of his boss. Just because a nation might have leadership that is hostile, aggressive, and tyrannical does not mean its people wish the same, and likely only stand idle for fear of what will happen to them and their families, and those who do rise up crushed, and even if they do, people can change for the better. Besides, there is a good chance that with such actions, you'd strike out at those who would otherwise be neutral or friendly to you." He wouldn't mention their old home and how close they came to destruction, even if most who remember those days were long gone, but he hoped what was said would get through to them to some extent at least...

I for one actually agree with the some of the points that one makes, we don't need to actively hunt down every last fucking Grittidim. Your people were the ones who, for months, kidnapped and killed elves in the slums, who took advantage of a crisis to commit slaughter and murder, who hunted down elves who hadn't done anything but run! You are fanatics of the highest degree!" His words echoed throughout the building, as Olita got up, and threw a punch at the Taiidae, though both were restrained by guards before anything more could happen. Olita burst into a mess of swears, tears and gibberish, while Nelis tried to calm himself. Both were removed from the chamber by their respective guard, with the Half Elf Selvani guards not doing much to hide their shame. The room sat in silence for a few moments...

"Look, things are getting a tad heated. All of us will be better served if we approach this with level heads. Why don't we take a quick break, cool off a little and maybe come back to this question later? As always, there's refreshments are in the lobby."
The People turn to their assistant and whisper, "Tell the workers to skip the alcohol this time, eh? Don't need these guys getting drunk right now."

>>3483176
During the break, The People pull the head delegate from the Starkbreisen Republic aside.
"Look man, this sucks. I know. I don't relish the prospect of explaining to my people why an ally of ours is so casual about genocide either. But think about it this way. This is our best chance at a real peace, across the continent. Think about how many lives we would save, how much good that would do. Maybe, with a bit of care, we even get the Free Human States to loosen up a little, steer them to a healthier place. Look, I don't want or expect you to condone the stuff he said in there. All I'm asking is that you keep an eye on the big picture here. Don't walk away from the table. We can figure out a way to move forward, one where everyone walk away. What do you say?"

>>3484846
During the break, The People pull the head delegate from the Free Human State aside.
"Hey. How're you feeling? A bit confused about what happened in there, I'd imagine? The Starkbreisen, the Yulklins, even most Tarns, they come from a totally different mindset than your people do. Murdering without provocation is about the worst thing a person can do in their culture. I get where you're coming from, there are threats out there that absolutely have to be dealt with before they can do harm to the rest of us. But at the same time, we don't know anything about this tribe. We don't even know for sure that they're not human. For all we know, they could be fairly nice people. All I know for sure is that the rest of the people at this table aren't going to react well if you keep bringing up genocide. Lets find a compromise, something that keeps your people safe and still fits with their sensibilities. How does that sound?"

>>3484784
During the break, The People pull the head delegate from the Yulklins aside.
"Hey, how do you feel about what the Free Human State did in there?"
>>
>>3485059
Nelis sighs. "I feel like shit, but I also don't? I have no idea what the feeling is. Do you know why half elves like Olita exist? You probably gleaned some of it from her tirade, but the short answer is rape. The child of such a conception isn't usually the most stable, and add to that the fact that the nobles treated their half children that they forced into the world little better then us only added to their mental state. Most of her people are like that. They want to take their anger and issues out on whatever they feel deserves it. I for one was one of the proponents of just letting the elves go and fuck off to some other land, possibly their own homeland, but most of the Daiimad feared that allowing that would only lead to more trouble then it was worth. It's hard for any of us to not sympathies at least a bit with her, but most are detached enough not to be blinded by that sympathy into letting them do whatever they want. All our people have known of non humans has been suffering and death, things that your kind have probably not had to deal with. Our cultures are very different, and I see that now. I still believe that the Gri-;that non humans are a threat, but I can see that such methods make others uncomfortable."
>>
Action 1: Combining the colored glasses of the Starkbreisen with the oranges and golds found by the Tarns, a new discipline emerges. By connecting shards of glass with a thick clay and firing the result, beautiful, translucent pictures are created. The new creation becomes popular in religious and wealthy homes, and stained glass artists spread through the western trade routes(So anyone connected to the western trade routes can make stained glass)
>Invent stained glass and mosaics

Action 2:
The People of Tarn are unsure what to do about the warning the strange woman sent (beyond telling their allies of course). They decide the best course of action is to arm parts of the Tarnish navy. That way, if the threat truly did come from the East, they could stop it before it reached the land. Great crossbows of iron are constructed, each as wide as a man is tall. Each can sling a thirty kilo rod of iron with enough force to collapse a wall or sunder a boat. These crossbows are affixed to medium sized ship with large sails, giving them a measure of speed. The ships are ported at Tercester, ready to head east at the first signal of trouble.
>Tell the other nations about the messenger
>Build big crossbows.

>>3483589
Through the corner of their eye, the People can see an puff of glittering orange appear and melt away just as quickly. He wonders what that was.
"So you come from the east, eh? Strange, my understanding of the area was that there was little there beyond ocean and a clan of hostile octopi. And you say you are a Battlemind? What does that entail? How do you speak our language? What kind of threat is coming?"
>>
>>3485096
"I know more than you think about that situation, and I understand why your people feel so strongly about strangers. Your people have experienced more suffering than just about anyone at this table. I'd agree with you that talk of genocide makes the rest of them uncomfortable. Your perspective is valuable, and I want to see you stay at the table."
>>
>>3485059
"He says words that seem polite, but with a cruel and bloody intent. The Lizzies have joined us and we protect all of our people. Bennia will not want to deal with people who casually kills. We Yulklins may not be fancy like you and casually fight each for fun, but we're not bloodthirsty. We won't do anything antagonistic against them, but they're not welcome on Huey Island until further notice or they prove they won't harm the Lizzies."

REPLIES III

>>3480911
The materials are shipped to Ru, and the second Conduit quickly built. It takes a lot of convincing the Awoos that it should not be climbed and clambered all over. But as soon as their backs were turned it soon became a game who could reach the highest the quickest. The Uski smiled a little at the playful defiance.
(you sail easily elsewhere)

Dirt tracks are soon worn between the main southern road and Heeyah.

>>3482434
Settlers set out east from the northern river valley, the navigable river making building and trading far easier, if a little close the FHS. More lime-shells are found at the coast, too.

>>3483732
Cautious of the Centaur in the north, more traps are laid in the newly claimed sands.
As the octos slithered through the jungles of Huey island, they were soon met with a town of ramshackle huts on stilts, populated by both enormous women, and bipedal lizards. Those heading north in the rainforest found fruits, monkeys, colourful birds, and poisonous frogs. At least one of those will be useful.

>>3483814
Oh how adorable! Awoos! Lots of them! The Children's mouths water.

>>3484711
So much is so quickly built; joining the disparate projects together in the north, erecting guardtowers wherever was lacking. Still there are holes, but these are manned with patrols of only the best fighters. Some would even climb the Conduit the Uski had built in Ru to survey the land.

Action 1:
Deep within the bronze cave screams could be heard, and from the place, now known a tomb a shattered soul remains.

Battered and tattered; torn and worn he emerges from the depths, his arm chopped off replaced with ticking tones.

Made of metal, mostly bronze it now sits, stronger than before yet attached to a shaken form.

The elders cannot understand this, but take note by hopping him up on some old shrooms in order to get what he saw.

He tells in detail and a second team, better equipped to deal with these threats are sent in.

Action 2:
Colonists are sent past the river bordering the western border of our people into the unclaimed mountains and hills

"I'm concerned about their current practices, but hopefully, in time, they'll come to mellow out and be less...extreme...in their methods...Though it is quite stressful picking the right words and hiding how you feel about the situation. At least what I said seemed to get to them to an extent...though, the result wasn't exactly what I had hoped...I get that my military adviser might have given you the wrong impression, but I do want peace. I just hope that it isn't at the cost of other people's being killed...Hopefully with the other people here, that wont be an issue." Carsten would sigh after speaking. Clearly, he needed the break as much as most others did.

They never said the job of Präsident was an easy one...

>>3483290
The Emissaries would be met with a bit of surprise, though they'd be allowed to stay and state what exactly they wish to warn. If they wished to speak with the leader, they'd inform them that the Präsident is currently at a summit, and that they could speak to him and the council at the capitol in some time. Otherwise, depending on their location, they'd be shown the local mayor, governor, or expedition leader.
>>
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

The augurs confirm what they have been warned, Evil travels west. Though the warnings are mixed, speaking of brothers in the sky, many believe this to be an omen involving the two moons, as the distant one draws close in its elliptical orbit. Madmen jibber of the coming doom, more than likely having overheard the Uskijoran messenger, though some feel this is only confirmation.
Those casting stones find them to bounce erratically, those reading entrails find them blackened with disease. Holy incense burns out, holy fires diminish. Evil heads west.

The People groan. “You’re right on all counts, of course. In a fair world, we could just leave them alone and that would be all. But the situation with the FHS is that they are still important, so we need to keep working with them, trying to steer them to a better place. You saw what happened in there. People can change, there’s already some who have! We have to keep pushing forward, for the sake of peace on this continent. I respect your decisions about your own territory, but I beg of you, don’t antagonize the FHS. We need them at this table.”

>>3485440
“Yes, it definitely did. To me, that was hope. That was proof that working with them will change them for the better. That has to be our goal, to keep them at the table, to mold them into better people. We have to keep trying because that was proof that the FHS can change.”
The People paused.
“Oh, and one more thing. Do me a favor and keep a tight lid on that military adviser, will ya? If his translator had been a little quicker on the ball, we could have had a real problem here.”

1. Expand south, claiming the rest of the shoreline
2. Continue fortifying the northern border

The burgeoning population strains at the thickly populated coastline. Banished as they were from the hills and forests, few live there that are not prepared at least in some respect for conflict. The land there is dotted with outposts keeping vigil over the hostile north. From Skyspear the Machumans are regarded with a hostile eye. What few towns and villages there are in the north are guarded by high stone walls. The only city there is Orestyi. Built atop a high hill, it dominates much of the north-western approach to the Grove and Saeyethri. What resources are extracted from the surrounding villages is sent to Orestyi under guard. It is a territory that knows well the risks of living there.

In the south the Uskijorans settle new shoreline property, starting up new settlements and industries to make use of the land around them. From the shellfish rich purple dyes and paints, and the sand itself could be converted into glassware items which are also quite popular. For these people life remains carefree.

>>3485440
The emissaries will wait until someone of sufficient rank is available to heed their warnings.

>>3485149
"A Battlemind is a trained defender of the Umma. Think of us like the soldiers of your own people. The oceans have grown hostile, and many of our ships have gone missing. They send us on these missions now because we can better defend ourselves than others. We do not know what the threat is exactly. We only know that it is a consuming force that casts a shadow across the Astral and the Mortal realm both. The octopi you speak of are our neighbors, of sorts. They do not speak with us, and we generally do not speak with them."

>>3485367
>Action One.
The colonization effort would see the people of the tribe actually properly contacted by the Republik. The settlers would respect their lands, though request to have some of the fertile lands to their south to reside in if they allowed, willing to trade food, tools, weapons, and knowledge if they liked. They'd be cautious and take things slowly, trying to improve relations and trade over time and attempting to gain an understanding of them, their culture, and their faith. Of course, for those who were interested, they'd gladly try to teach their language, but they were more interested in learning their own. A few would be worried about what might happen to them with the Wilde from the west seemingly now so close from another enclave, but at least if something happened, they had a place to flee to if the western wilde tried anything. Slowly but surely, the tribals would be called by what they called themselves, the Uru, though, some would call them Versengt.

>Action Two.
Meanwhile, to the west of Nordhafen and north of Turmhelm, more land would be taken, and on the rocky shores, the port of Felsenhafen would be made. Essentially, the place would be a hub where stained glass would be made and able to be transported across the sea to either Nordhafen for food should fishing not suffice, or simply so it could be sold to those who wished to buy who docked there. In time, the port might become a city, but that time was yet to come. Regardless, it certainly sent a message to the people of the Republik, that the desert was a place they could thrive given enough time.

>>3485883
"Don't worry, I don't think he'll be an issue considering how everyone glared at him last time... Still, hopefully they change for the better sooner rather than later, and I do hope the more...extreme elements don't cause issues with a possible transition in their society."

>>3485367
Clan Varke had been busy with aeronautics. Work would be done on lighter hulls, improved balloon materials, and even improving the gas. Chemists began to try mixing different gasses with luftum, such as smoke, steam, and other more readily available gases. Some wood was found to be less heavy then others, and thus airship hulls would be constructed of lighter woods. Better canvas sealant would be developed, and these two innovations would lead to a larger, and higher flying airship, named the "Air Barge". A flat bottomed, 3 decked ship with a ceiling of 100ft. The ship is the first to be intended for actual production, as a cargo vessel, and initial tests show much promise, as the ship moves at 14 Aeroknots, which while far slower than some ships, it does not have to deal with things like rough waters, and issues with food could be dealt with by landing and foraging. The first successful trip the Air barge tool was to Port Oradestii, as the path the airship would take was fairly straight and simple. The ship would return with a small hold of gold which was bound for the capital anyway. And while oceanic routes would have been faster, the fact the voyage happened and succeeded was more then enough to turn some heads in the Daiimad.

Actions:

1 The Apothecaries College, in conjunction with Clan Varke, worked on more innovations for Airships, with increased funding from many minor clans impressed with what has already been made.

2. The Sajak-Khar warn of a coming catastrophe. They claim that Sajak himself has told them "From the East, a dark force shall arise to claim the West." The Daiimad, unnerved, but untrusting would initially dismiss the words of the priests, until Tarnish emissaries would come baring word of similar warnings. Food would be stockpiled, with the Tubers becoming a very large part of the stocks. The apothecaries college would work overtime to create medicines to deal with possible war related injuries or disease. The FHS may not know what this evil will take form as, but they will prepare for all they can think of...

Momiji was afraid, in her tent alongside her children clutching to her tight. Babbeling small fearful utterances and senteances. As Awoos came in and voided their fears, came in for hugs, came in for love from their band leader and came in for reassurance.

It all was weighing down upon her. Her bands hopes, their happyness, their dreams, their fear, the love she felt for them for her band, each one despite how dumb felt like a part of her.

With strange horsefolk barging at one of their allys, attacking a part of their wall. Strange creatures prowling past chittering and terrifying in what had once been a beautiful land.

Momiji felt helpless, Moji felt so afraid, felt like she Coulden't shoulder this burden alone, Moji diden't realize they were crying until the whimper came forth.

As they howled, rushing out of their tent and howled at the night sky. Their loosened soul, those eye's that gleamed with the Awoo moon.

>Action 1.

Moji prays, prays for the biggest Awoo to lend aid to her people in these dark times. Prays and howls and yowls at the sky for the biggest Awoo, for the biggest member of the band to stand beside them. To provide them aid, to help her stand resolute.

Momiji prays for help, for the biggest Awoo to help the band, help her in her time of need.

>Action 2.

Across the villages, Awoos hold their whimpering children tight. They hold quivering males in their tents tight. They howl and whimper and smell the bad smell beyond the wall and the Awoos feel fear.

But, the Awoos also feel determination, they feel the desire to protect their children, their band members, their big community of friends and family and children that brought them joy

The Awoos felt the urge to fight for the ones they loved. As they saw Moji collapse from fear, as the news spread, the Awoos with their leader afraid and scared.

Grow strong and look to the biggest Awoo to stand beside them. As the Awoos show the strength of their unity, of their caring for one another.

The Awoos are prepared and they shall not be found wanting.

>Finally, the 7th post!

Action 1: The Tarns repurpose the spears they use for fishing for use as true weapons. Long spears are used for anti-boarding purposes, to prevent the dreaded sea monkeys from climbing up the walls. Shorter spears are used in conjunction with wooden shields in formation tactics. Tarnish soldiers are also issued short swords for use in close combat situations.

Action 2: Work on the truce city is begun. The Tarns start digging out the canal, making sure that it is deep and wide enough to support two cargo boats side by side. The walls and bottom of the canal are lined with fine stone and sealed with dried mud and gravel. At the end of the canal’s path a natural hollow, which the Tarns deepen and widen to create the city’s harbor. When all is complete, the end of the canal is broken down and the ocean allowed to flood in.
>>
After the break, delegates file back into the conference. The mood seems to be less tense than before. The People of Tarn speak.
“Ok, well, we can deal with this right now, or we can hold off till a bit later. Which do you guys prefer?”

During the long period of time since the centaur were last active, they have grown greatly in numbers, farming becoming increasingly popular to support the population.

Mining continues, offering more supplies of materials to make sevis bronze, which quickly spreads into the hands of most centaur and minotaur.
>Mining

The aftermath of the trap laid by Mephie the Deceitful leads the surviving migrants to create a settlement outside Emergence, mostly far enough away from the fort to be out of harms way, but also ranging to having smaller tents set up with centaur surrounding the entrances to the fort.
Additionally, the remaining forests to the north are taken.

THIS EVENT IS WORLDWIDE

At dawn the sun shines red on the horizon, a bad omen to many. As the sun crawled higher, the sound of trumpets could be heard all around, followed by the crashing of cymbals, and the wailing of women. The noise grew louder, east to west, travelling across the land; It drowned out the very thoughts in one's head! With it came to taste of blood in the mouth, and the smell of death on the air.
Then, in the sky, can be seen two great beasts, charging as on land, and each carrying a figure. Atop the white beast could be seen a man in shining armour, wielding a bow of bronze; He cries out as he fired his arrows into the earth. By his side came the black beast, ridden by a man of skin & bone, carrying a rod of iron. He screams, anguished, his voice joining the din.
As these riders journey across the world all fall silent in fear. Storm clouds cover the red sun, it is dark again, save flashes of lightning. The two are soon over the eastern horizon, taking their foul music with them, leaving only thunder. Hail came then. The entire day it remained dark as it hailed, filling the streets with ice. Even into the night it hailed. By morning the clouds had mercifully parted, but this was a short lived mercy.
A third of those caught in the hail began to cough, and seize. They ran hot with fever, became stiff, and vomited whatever they swallowed. So too were the crops and beasts affected; Wheat wilted in the field and rotted, many animals tame & wild simply fell dead. Half the fish hauled into the boat were green and limp. No birds sang in the dawn.

In the mountains of Sonqukuna the day Walkers lie dead, it Keradruakh the Dark Eldar head-taker all who had been outside and awake during that time were pumbled to death by massive hunks of solid cold water or in near unrecognizable chunks from great sky spears of a bronze like material.

In the night all Machumans had experienced great night terrors relating to two thundering beasts who, if it were not for saviour lltutas of metal and smoke they would have consumed the entire world.

The farmland lies flattened, many terraces sustaining immense damage from the large prices of solid water, and worse yet the oasis’s have stopped, leaving exposed tunnels from which the water once came, some being as great in diameter as a beast of a Machuman could ever hope of being in height.

Action 1:
From the cave of dust and iron the troop emerges unscathed, they too experienced the nightmares, and their own rations have mysteriously been depleted into husks of poor sustenance.

In their journeys they found absolutely ancient caves set behind sheets attached to metal tubes which stop the devices from falling out of their entrance.

In these stores they found overgrown areas of equally ancient edible fungus of an amazing kind of taste, which they take as a sign that these mushrooms and moulds are most likely potentially absolutely delicious and also of immense goodness for the body, which would do wonders for the recovery of the city.

Using sheets of extremely thin white cloths of one piece inscribed with black liquids which were procured from the insectoid fauna of the cave they have have created a set of descriptions which using both a visual top down and bead like set of instructions can show the way through those hallowed halls to where the grub resides.

Using this they send a group of lower level labourers assisted by members of the second team to collect this fungus in order to redistribute it amongst the failing and shattered farming families.

Action 2:
With the drying of the oasis’s some farmer houses decide to send people into the waterways in order to figure out how to save them from death by starvation.

A man in robes and a mask enters the Daiimad building. He is dressed plainly, with the only ornamentation worn being holy symbols; one for each of the major gods. This man held the title of Kahad-Sajak, the supreme authority of the Sajak-Khar and leader of the Human religion. He was the first of the priests to receive the warnings from Sajak, those which had been ignored, if only briefly, by the Daiimad. He had been asked to come to the Daiimad building. “We were fools to put off the warnings of our Sajak-Khar, and the whole of the Daiimad formally apologizes to the Kahad-Sajak.” Spoke the Taiida-Sah. The Kahad-Sajak raised his hand, and spoke. “There is no need, honorable Taiida-Sah. Our people have been prosperous for a long time, and such sudden warnings are well to be doubted. Still, the gods work in many ways, and we were still able to prepare, and whether by chance, or an act of the gods, prepare correctly.”

Sajak-Khar and apothecary alike ventured out by any means they can across the nation to help the myriad of villages and towns, which wouldn’t have had the amount of supplies that the cities would. The small fleet of airships constructed by Clan Varke would be tasked with delivering food and medicine to those villages, as they could do so faster and more effectively then a land based caravan. In the cities, martial law would be declared. Marketplaces would become rationing sites, where the stockpiled food would be handed out sparingly until more could be grown. Those tubers which had smartly been saved by the College would prove vital in this, as a single plant could feed a family for almost an entire day. The sick would be treated either by Sajak-Khar priests or College apothecaries, who’s blessings and medicines would prove useful in alleviating the illness to some degree.

In total, the damage done could have been far, far worse than it could have, but it also could have been far better if we had known sooner. The apothecaries gained much practical and theoretical knowledge on disease and other such things. The first wide scale use of airships helped immensely on the logistics front, providing somewhat remote villages with help. Casualties still numbered in the thousands, with disease claiming most of those lives. Of particular note was the fact that the mountain villages and camps were left mostly untouched by the hail, as the coverings and roofing prevented the hail from entering the populated areas of these settlements. Ironically, those measures put in place against those who might become our allies protected our people against this calamity.

Damien Retne Varke was the best gods damned airship pilot there was. Granted, there were currently only about 5, but out of all of them, he was the best. He grew up near the Dockyards of what is now Andreth, and after the war, took up sailing with a few Caldathi friends he made while fighting. He was a natural, and his skill impressed the hardened sailors of Clan Caldath, who offered to have him adopted into the clan. He politely refused, as while joining a major clan would be a great boon, his true passion in life was engineering and science. While he worked tirelessly in the Aeronautics division of the Apothecaries College, the Varke-Sah had been seeking potential recruits for Airship piloting. Damien offered to show his skills off as soon as he found out, and after helming the sky-sloop, was almost immediately offered a position as an Airship helmsman.

It had been a few weeks since he got the position, and the Sky-Barge he piloted, the “Silver Stern”, had been tasked with ferrying supplies and people to isolated villages around the FHS. The map he had been given gave him a relatively decent amount of places to stop by. The town of Nerevil was next, and they were approaching rapidly, as the winds were favorable today. “Turn the mast to the left! 5 degrees!” He shouted to the mastmen, who twisted the airship’s mast to the left a slight bit, moving to avoid a large hill. Over the crest of the hill was a town, and a bonfire. Most of the men knew what that meant; Burning of the dead. “Alright, start letting the Liftum out! We’re landing. Let the priests and apothecaries know we’re here!” He shouted again, a few crewmembers grabbing neddlepikes, and poking small holes in the balloons, the ship slowly descending towards the ground.

The ship hit the ground a bit roughly, with the men jerking about the deck. A ramp decended, and the medical teams left the ship, taking food and medical supplies with them. The ships crew went to work, replacing the balloons, and within the hour, were airborne once again. Now they ventured back into andreth, for more supplies and doctors. This was going to be a long day...

With the first harvest since the catastrophe in, and a minor census taken, things have become relatively normal in the FHS, though work still needed to be done. The meager crop brought back didn’t yield enough food to fix all the problems, so rationing would continue in the major cities. The disease was being dealt with, but other then that, normalcy returned to the Free Human State. With this normalcy came a flood of funding to the Aeronautics programs, as the first cargo fleet proved vital in getting supplies to places that would have taken weeks by foot in a matter of hours or days. New innovations were being made in the field, and one of the most important was to come of this. Using a similar system as the Pressure building system in Varken Flame Sprayers, Balloons could be pressurized and depressurized, with more or less Liftum being “injected” into the sacks, allowing for higher altitudes and easier landings, not to mention the conservation of Liftum gas and treated sacks. No longer were needlepikes required, as a hand pump and valves could release Liftum back into the barrel or into the sack when needed, and while early prototypes led to some thinner sacks bursting open, adjustments were made and the final result came to pass.

The first weapons have been placed on an airship. The ballistae have been placed more as a defensive measure incase a landing needed to be made in dangerous territory, and aren’t meant to be used in an offensive manner. Still, the new systems placed on the airships allow for such things to be added, as earlier renditions of the Balloons would have been weighed down too much by the material needed to fix a ballista to the deck. For now, all air-barges would be fixed with 2 ballista, one on the stern, and one on the aft. One engineer brought up the possibility for a mounted Flame Sprayer, but the idea has, for now, been shot down, as one fuck up would turn the airship into a fireball, surely killing everyone on board. A few ideas for armor have been proposed, but so far, none have been put into place. For the foreseeable future, the airship will not be a weapon of war. Not yet anyways…

Actions:

1. With the increased funding, the Aeronautical engineers look to create an even more efficient method of lift, allowing for more weight to be put onto an airship without compromising the ship’s ceiling. (This means you OP. Gib something please)

2. The college has been looking into more effective medicines for treating illness, with some also trying to figure out what causes disease in the first place. Some think it bad water, pointing to the hail from the calamity, others a miasma that spread sickness among people. Apothecaries also think it the work of curses and magics, and others the work of organisms too small for the eye to see. Whatever the cause, the Apothecaries College will put all the effort it can to finding out what it is.

1. Send an expedition East
2. Commune with the Dryad

The world trembles and dies. The Uskijorans had known for decades of the threat moving west and had believed that it was one they could handle. Now, as many were forced to choose between giving up this world permanently or moving to the Grove to maintain their half-life the Uskijoran society trembles too. It deals with issues of heartbreak and loss not handled since the Exodus and in its confusion the Umma is strangled by ill emotion. Only after substantial time has passed is the noise quieted down to a murmur. In the wake of the devastation a forest of bodies returned to clay or stone or wood stand in the streets or groves to sit idle in their boats frozen to the last moment of their life in the Mortal world. Their voices are still there in the Umma for those who care to listen, and many do. There in the Astral they survive, isolated from the world that they had taken a part in and forced to an existence of words and feelings but without touch.

For those that chose the Dryad's Grove, they were given a different fate. Many joined the Grove Protectors, maintaining a half-life state between the two worlds in their true forms. Others were not so lucky, and simply added to the Grove more overgrown statues. In the depths of the crisis some had come not seeking eternal life but merely direction. They came looking for the cause of the devastation or looking for a means to counteracts its effects, if not for themselves than for their adopted world.

With the disaster that rained quite literally upon the Republik, and most of the world, many would suffer, and for the first time in the Republik's history, people stopped colonizing the frontier. Partially due to the fact that the frontier available was mostly reliant on fish and imports, and partially due to the fact that many who actually were on the frontier would have gotten sick from the hail. Curses by many are shouted, claiming the vile forces of Geheim and Y had cursed the world with those who saw the figures claiming the one with the bronze bow and armor being a demonic servant of Y, and the other being a hellish servant of Geheim. Most would pray to Hel'ay while keeping what food they had to themselves, and many would starve. Ironically enough, those the best off in this madness would be the poorer farmers who gained a stockpile of the tuberous roots, and some with large enough stockpiles would share such product with their friends, and sell some at high prices to others. This event would be known in the Starkebrisen history books as the Teufelverhungern, and many would die from both hunger and the odd disease. Needless to say, there would be a massive import market for food in the Republik during this time...and the government would do its best to try and limit the suffering...But really, this could have been avoided, if only warnings came sooner...

>Action One.
Needless to say, the first and main priority of the Republik would be getting a stable food source for its citizens, what with all the dead crops and animals. Everyone with any experience in farming and animal handling would be tasked with finding a way to make sure that the food stocks rose and that food could be distributed to everyone...or at least the ways that people could actually grow food and find animals that weren't rotting. Of particular interest was the tuberous roots, believing that if they were as hardy as some believed, despite the current circumstance, they could be grown in large numbers and majorly reduce the effect of the suffering on the Republik's people.

>Action Two.
Despite the outward isolationist attitude of the Versengt, a few of the poorer farmers from the mountains who happened to have a stockpile would try and check up on them and how the famine was effecting them. If they were doing poorly in the food department, they'd give a decent amount of food that wouldn't hurt their stockpile too much in the hopes that it would potentially open them up for future business once the mess caused by the wrath of Y and Geheim was fixed by Hel'ay or time. Regardless, it might be the difference between starvation and life for the tribal's, and if the tribal's weren't actually badly effected by the famine, at least that knowledge would be gained...

These creatures are known to the centaur. Amazing them that the prey they often hunt are ridden by sickly bipeds to the east. Though clear not to be the average biped and beast, the centaur find it obvious to be a great attack through magics on their people.

Vair'pökol lie sick, dying, and starving from these events. But the good to come of this is voiced by the Zaimür that the weak are culled, leaving the strong and strengthening their people by nourishing the land with their bodies and their souls conjoining to enter fresh vessels as they usher in new generations of centaur.

-

Zaimür expand their knowledge of shamanism.
Across the land they learn to harness their powers to even greater effect, which begins to worry the populace.
The earth is easily torn asunder, air whipping at speeds capable swiping centaur off their feet, and fire that devours entire bodies in mere moments, with this cremation becoming a new burial ritual.
>Shamanism Grows

Vair'pökol learn the hard way that farming cannot be relied upon, as they wither and die, leaving those dependent on said crops to starve.
New hunting grounds will be needed soon, and something need be done about the attacks from the east.
Centaur across the eastern lands prepare themselves against the enemy, producing many bronze weapons and armor and practicing how to better fight the bipeds, using the minotaur as sparring partners.
But nothing will be done for now, as the chieftain does not currently seek conflict, upsetting many of the Vair'pökol, also leading to an increase of Vaidász competing for power.

Soon more projectiles would follow.

Those searching for missing people only find but small scraps of cloth and coarse gray hairs in small numbers, some leading up to the mountains.

The Tarnlands are particularly devastated by the disease, perhaps worse than any other nation. Both the interconnections and the dependence of the Tarns on the sea amplify the effects of the plague. The boats which ship supplies from village to village now carry the disease across the lands, killing nearly half the total Tarnish population. Another 10 to 20% of Tarns die of starvation as fishery after fishery fails. The People of Tarn are even shortly forced into hiding when a food riot hits the capital. The result is a Tarnish kingdom teetering on the edge of collapse. International trade slows, then halts all together, the churning trade engine of the Western continent grinding to a halt for the first time in living memory. Food and luxury prices in Bennia, the Starkbreisen Republic, and the Free Human State skyrocket as Tarnish shipments of fish and materials halt. The merchant's guild is devastated by the calamity which has befallen Tarnland. The power vacuum they leave is partially filled by the thief's guild, formerly a bit player in the Tarnish political game. Their relative prosperity in this time of chaos(due in no small part to their theft from rich and poor alike) is leveraged into a place on the Council of Elders. Overall, the Tarnish empire is as weak as it has ever been, and a good push could be all it takes to send it into collapse.

Action 1: While foraging for food, some Tarns discover a new herb in the wilderness, living high up in the mountains of Tarnland. This herb has two major effects. The first is a soothing and healing property that helps with breaking fevers and healing the sick. While only available to the rich due to its fickle growing conditions and limited habitat, the herb does help with mitigating the spread of disease(marginally). The second effect is that application of the crushed leaves to dead wood causes a brief reanimation of the wood and spurt of growth.

Action 2: As many of the traditional Tarnish fisheries fall apart, Tarns begin going after more and more faraway sources of fish. Fishing operations begin travelling out to deep waters, out of sight of any land, even to shores none of them had ever seen before. These expeditions are risky, but when the alternative is starvation and the rewards are massive, all but the most risk averse head out to sea. Tarnish sailors get used to operating and navigating in the open ocean, without the use of landmarks.

Second turn go

Clan Varke had done it. Their proposition for the wide-scale use of airships and the construction of proper Aerowharfs was accepted by the Daiimad. Production on Sky-Barges and development on new ships begins in earnest, with forestry areas being set up to harvest and replenish wood for the ships. Clan Vay has also requested for research on weapons that could be used on airships which couldn't work on land. One idea that caught on was barrels filled with caltrops which are designed to easily smash when dropped. The idea is promising, as pre-battle defenses could be set up in far less time and if dropped on enemy positions during a battle, could disrupt and disorganize their men. Still, this and the methods to be used to deploy them are a ways off. In other developments, Varken engineers have made improvements to the crossbow. By forging it's arms out of steel instead of wood, the greater tensile strength of the metal produced more powerful weapons then their wooden counterparts. These have been adapted to Ballistae, and retrofitted onto Sky-Barges. The Cup-Ballista is another sort of innovation, with it's bolt firing channel replaced with a sort of "cup" of iron, which can launch just about anything that can fit inside at impressive speeds. Gravel was one of the first ammunition types tested, which shredded a flock of birds that passed by. When it came to airship propulsion, side mounted sails were tested, and proved to be far more efficient then their single, deck mounted counterparts. A steering sail would still be required however, but the faster speeds showed.

With shipments of Tarnish goods coming to a halt, worry for their people gripped many of the citizens of the FHS, and thus in the first out of nation flight, a small 3 ship fleet of Sky-Barges was sent with food, medicine and apothecaries was sent to gauge the effect of the calamity and show solidarity towards our continental neighbors, and as such, a similar fleet would be sent to the Ver. Ironically, with the decline of Tarnish seafood, the Caldathi shellfish industry received a needed boost in popularity, with crab, shrimp and some edible mollusks becoming quite popular.

A strange species of Crab not seen before was encountered by Caldathi dockworkers. Large and land dwelling, these docile herbivorous crustaceans have a foul tasting meat, but are surprisingly sociable creatures, not paying much mind to humans. In a short time, some of these crabs have become tamed, and have proven to be quite popular as pets.

1. Airship improvements and Cup-Ballistae

While farming still remains common among the Vair'pökol, it is widely disregarded as a useful source of food, but genius centaur had come up with a revolutionary idea: meat farms.
Using the ever so common furred bipeds which are used as slaves, it is realised that they can be used to produce meat, using crops which the centaur do not prefer, they can raise these creatures en masse and farm them for their delectable meat.

The great famine and strife has caused many a small lluta band to be forced into fleeing south or west, though not north.

The bands that flee into the centauric woods are decimated to a level where they cannot be considered an inhabiting force.

Zones of strife:
>Western Uski hills fringe
>Centaur-Uski hills
>Dryad Hills
>Skyspear area
>Northern mountain uski fringe

Raiders will clash with the locals, and due to language and cultural barriers very often commit raids against undefended centauric or uski settlements, though it could be possible in centaurless areas for them to end up filling the niche of the centaurs

Valley lluta archers
Valley lluta spearers
Cliff side lluta archers/Valley lluta slashers (both can trump the other)
Cliffside lluta commanders

Valley Llutas:
Stalky and Swift these massive herbivorous creatures make up the main force of the raiders.

These beasts, through their slender powerful legs on their preferred terrain of long flattish rocky ground can charge at speeds faster then a good race horse.

Their main weakness is their lack of maneuverability, and their size which makes them fairly useless in forested terrain, and the fact that they are fairly terrible at navigating deep mud or water and are incapable of swimming.

Cliffside Lluta:
Ravenous and carnivorous these beasts are masters of climbing and maneuver, but are lacking in their horizontal speed, they are very aggressive so are not very great at melle due to their kicking and pecking fighting style, which is not very great for the rider unless the bird is well trained.

Weapons: All raiders are equipped with at least bronze weapons, higher level raiders have more bronze on them.

1. Develop Energy Manipulation
2. Experiment on Awoos

The Uskijoran Battleminds refine their research and experimentation on psychic manipulation of energy. Heat and its absence can be channeled and controlled, stopped and created, with the proper application of psychic power. Like so many psychic powers, azurwood and a strong connection to the Umma is what turns this from a useful tool for a duel into a battlefield weapon. Outside of the battlefield it does have its uses. Psychic heat is easy enough to generate and can keep warmth in the winter or spark fire to timber if necessary. Mostly it's use is that it circumvents the need for fuel as a sole means of warmth, allowing more wood to be used for buildings and for ships. Its battlefield applications are obvious. waves of heat, shattering cold, arcs of lightning, are all common displays of psychic power.

A few Awoo residents of Argetyi are subtlety experimented on. This experiment isn't harmful. Far from it in fact. The intention herei s to preform psychic surgery and in the process, streamline some of the Awoo's mental deficiencies to make them a little more capable of grasping logical progression. The experiment isn't widely popular, and there is debate in the Umma about its morality. There is a clear apprehension among some to tamper with the natural beings of their new home and there is no telling what the side effects of psychic manipulation of physical elements is on living being in the long term. It's one thing to suggest or glamour, another entirely to fundamentally change the nature of a creature. Regardless, the first Awoo generation comes and the results are looked upon with an equal mix of eagerness and trepidation.

By and large, attacks on the fortresses prove worse than futile. The border between the river hills and the Dryad's Gorve is perhaps the most well fortified and patrolled area in the world. It had been prepared for decades, and was recently strengthened after the Machuman's previous punitive raid that made the defenders of the northern borders all too well aware of their hostile neighbor's existence. They had been watched and observed for some time, and their movements had not gone unnoticed. The attacks against the fortified border went as well as could be expected. Attackers were routinely plucked then dropped from a killing height as they moved under the watchful parapets of fortress and outpost. Men killed at random by brain aneurysms or who's heads simply exploded mid conversation. Other parties were turned against one another in violence by suggestive words from psychic lips.

The most successful raids were thus, not really raids at all. When the western fortresses or settlements were not threatened the raiders simply passed through unmolested, although they could feel the perpetual presence of watchful eyes upon their movements into a well-hunted but otherwise pristine landscape. Of these one raid managed to come across a Uskijoran patrol. Or rather, the patrol came across them camping. Instead of killing them the Uskijoran took it upon themselves to open a dialogue. Killing was easy, but shocking these savages by speaking their tongue and utilizing subtle mental manipulations to calm their more battle-hungry nerves was going to be easier. These raiders could settle the hills peacefully, but only if they would accept a certain degree of authority by the Uskijorans living in the nearby fortress. Otherwise they were warned off of settling the area but that further south there were grassland occupied by centaur who may welcome them. This was an experiment, of sorts, and the Umma listened intently for the Machumans' response to the offer.

"Ie Valanda Domina
Tirelle sathei ae athol!
Pol ae novos gloria;
Eterna ie Valandapol-
Frei unseigt Valandapol!"
-Exerpt from Valandapol the Glorious, chant
---
Cenric Alexander gazed upon the city- his city. Valandapol. The glorious, the unconquered, the unconquerable. It was his city now, much as he was surprised by the fact. Born to a lesser noble family (with a Valand father and a Tarnic mother); he was barely permitted to vote for the Supreme Patrician, let alone become one.
And yet, at age thirty-two, here he was- bearing that very title.
Perhaps the electors percieved him as being worthy of the position - they recalled his leadership in naval skirmishes against the octopi, or perhaps his wisdom and quick thinking in deals with amazon tribes and centaurs Perhaps it was his bravery in the many raids on abandoned cities prowling with the minions of the devouring father. Perhaps it was the bribery.
Nonetheless; he was the patriarch now. It was his duty, nay, privilage, to build Valandapol into the greatest city in the entire world. Rich would be his people, and he richer still. The army, while small, will be deadly. The navy will dominate the many seas. Riches of all kinds will flow in and out of the city, and symbols of its might shall be erected.
And across the world people will know his name.
---
> 1. The houses are in disarray. Cenric won the vote by a small margin, and many opposed to his rule remain in the city. A master of spies is required; to find if any plot against him.
> 2. Valandapol will not be seen as a true power until they are convinced as such. Abassadors shall be sent by sea to the capitals of major powers, but they must be invited in. Thus; messages are sent to Andreth, Mouncester, and Actkin; Two mighty nations of men and our most reasonable neighbour.

Though they did not ground the airships, the ballistae reduced the overall lift by a few feet, hemming them in between the forests and mountains. Experiments were ordered to combat this, Liftum alone was no longer adequate. Results from earlier queries were collated and scoured, with some noting that hot air and smoke both seemed to provide their own lift, but when mixed with the Liftum significantly decrease the effects of both. Some posit the use of secondary balloons, which when field-tested proved mildly successful, but cumbersome. More work was needed.
The illness was deemed to be magical in nature, as it did not seem to spread through miasma or bad water as other diseases did. Those afflicted were comforted as much as they could be, including the use of a tincture made from the anaesthetic plant, which numbed the body and eased convulsions, but could not save them from inevitable death. The sheer quantity of bodies made the usual funerary rites nigh impossible, resulting in massive pyres in every town and village. Some called it The Day of Smoke, and wished for it to be a remembrance holy-day.

Now that the storm had passed, it is thought that perhaps the journey east would be possible. Still, there was lamenting and tearful farewells for those who took the journey, knowing it may well be their last. However comfort was found in the knowledge that the Saeyethri Conduit would provide a stronger connection to those sailing out. As the ships disappeared from view, many rushed to "connect" to the Conduit, relieved as they could still feel their sisters. But they told of only open ocean, each mile they travelled nothing but water. For days many crowded the streets of Saeyethri "listening in". After a week of sailing, with provisions dwindling, the boats turned back for land; in this moment however, another voice joined the chorus, and ancient voice, deep below the waves. It's tongue was unknown, unknowable. Something has awoken.
The Grove heaves with unlife and half-lives, the barrier between the planes seems to ripple there. Once more, after long meditation, the Dryad "speaks", she tells those listening that the reasons of the Gods cannot truly be known, that is why life must be so preciously guarded and cherished. Once more she is silent.

The octopi were completely unprepared for the storm. Many fell sick, and eventually succumbed to the illness, causing a huge hit in productivity. Even more Octopi were moved from mining to catch fish due to live fishes being rare.
Among those that had caught the disease was also the Great One. He was quick to see this catastrophy for what it is: a punishment. It wasn't pleased with their lack of offerings. Before his death, the Great One ordered his brethren to finally get to work as to uphold their end of the deal.

As such, the question arose: how do you safely catch magic users? As experimenting with the frogs would show, extremely thinning the poison out made it have no effects anymore, with higher dosage causing gradually more severe symptoms. Thus the conclusion arose that the right dosage might not kill, but paralyze. As the right dosage for beasts wasn't known however, trial and error was deemed the effective way to go about it. Octopi would hide near rose bushes in the forest occupied by the beasts, and prick any of them passing by using rose thorns laced with different dosages of frog poison. To prevent suspicion from arising and their plan from being foiled, they'd start with low dosages of poison and gradually bump it up until the right one was found.
>1.) Pricked.com

As both a way to appease It and to get rid of the infected bodies, all Octopi which had unfortunately passed away due to the disease are piled up and burned. The smoke from the fire would be visible even from far away, due to the diseased flesh giving it a distinct green hue.

Action 1 and 2: In a desperate search for the miracle plant that might help them break the plague, Tarns expand southwest into the mountains, previously believed too harsh to ever settle. The herbs they find are shipped back to the homelands, where they help to heal the sick and slow the progress of the plague. Farms of these herbs are also set up, though they will take time to begin producing the herb..

The Tarns are struggling, but let it never be said that they are not hospitable. The youngins are taken in by a few families who have the money and food to spare. They are taught the the Tarnish language, Trading Common, and even a bit about the Tarnish religion. Five of the youth show a particular affinity for ships, and are offered spots in the ship building guild. Another five are offered positions in the Merchants Guild.
During this time, the youth learn of the mystical herb that seems to cure the plague. They are told that it is in extremely short supply and requires high, humid mountain slopes to grow. If the Bennia have any land of the sort, they’re welcome to try their luck cultivating it.

REPLIES VII

EAST CONTINENT READ THIS PASSAGE

Two spires of sickly green smoke rose across the strait, strong winds blowing them east into the clouds. Out in the expanse, storm clouds gather once more, a strange vortex of grey and green streaked white with lightning. Distant thunder can be heard, separated by hours. As dusk gave way to twilight, a great crashing of water sounded out, sending strong waves with it, though thankfully not enough to damage the docks at Ru & Argretyi. There is movement in the fog.

>>3496032
(>>3495348) Finally the correct dosage seems to have been reached, a white bearded centaur, bedecked in strings of bone and black bronze collecting firewood. As the thorn breaks the skin he reflexively kicks out, before becoming woozy and losing his footing, falling to the ground. Only his darting eyes and laboured, panicked breathing indicate he is still alive.

>>3496222
The farms are established in the crook of the range, closer to the river for ease of transport. It's as these farms get there footing that those sent to study and experiment on the herb find it easily cross pollinates with the local, fast-growing pea plants. Though the effects are diminished, these new plants are quick to grow, hardy, and even provide food.

>>3496409
The medicinal moonshine does very little, though is delicious and soothing to those afflicted. Mama Jules sneaks into the hidden shrine, making off with a cupful of the holy spirit 'shine. She gives her sick children a single drop, which proves to not cure them, but greatly alleviate their symptoms for a whole day. Now Mama Jules might think she's sneaky, but there's only one person with access to the sacred 'shine who has a peg leg, and muddy boot & peg prints lead straight from the elder's hut to the hiding place.

>>3496449
Those whispers which long ago Mephie had ignored grow louder in the trailing corridors and impossible geometry of Emergence. Feasts laid out to entice begin to rot, discordant notes play with any music, banners and drapes are found torn down and shredded. Mephie chides herself for her remark about gods. Stray Awoos, or centaurs drawn in snap out from their stupor as they near Emergence, soon fleeing back to whence they came. Someone, or more likely Some-thing-, is ruining the damned party.

>>3496531
What starts as a stray thought soon blossoms, literally. Fleshy trees weighed down with sacs of Devils-Knows-What spring from around the nexus, cilia sprout like grass between them. Father is proud, and a little disgusted.

>>3497713
(doing good)

>>3495775
They had fled so long ago, knowing of the devouring flesh which drew ever closer. Now on clear days, one could see them approaching the abandoned town across the strait. That consuming horde would soon destroy what was left, many wept for the coming days, when it would be overcome and lost. But there was still hope, Valandapol would flourish, in time.
>>
>>3495398
Centaur would fight with the encroaching hunters, peppering them down from afar with bow and arrow, but unable to match the speed of their mounts, though their increased maneuverability likely well made up for it in the hilly terrain, using spears to deadly affect up close. While the other beasts better at maneuvering would be chased and brought down with hunting spears and axes.

The change of pace from hunting the normal pray excites the centaur as many abandon their normal routine to switch to hunting these new beasts and their riders.

Many permanent settlements pack up and become nomadic once more once the threat of outsiders becomes too much to bear, and soon some disband in numbers for increased mobility.

>>3495626
Many centaur believing these bipeds now riding other creatures to be in league with the sickly variants to the east, which caused the horrible curse upon their nation, becomes too clear a threat that must be stopped at once. The Chieftain has finally agreed.
Vair'pökol are armed and ready, long awaiting a fight.

Those to the eastern lands ride further east to face the enemy, traveling in massive herds to aid those already in the shared plains to strike down the Uskijora much like they do the prey native to these lands.

To the north, primarily in the swamps, they go too, spread out and in thinner numbers. Fighting with axe and bow, they are not particularly useful in the terrain, but in close quarters and use their axes, and from afar, their bows, while hiding behind trees for stealth and cover.
>Drive Off the Interlopers

>>3496723
The time has come, hunting in this new land had been hard to come by, but the large construction they had settled by and come to must have some reward within that they must reach and hopefully feed their people.
A ramp is built from the earth, leading up the wall, which would allow the centaur to walk atop the walls and enter the fort.
Many archers stand ready to assault any wall defenders thinking it a good idea to poke their heads out to attack with their own ranged weaponry while smaller centaur closer to the ground transport earth to build the ramp. Additionally, some tents would be used as makeshift shields, should their own archers not be adequate.

>>3497872
The Uskijoran response isn't terribly violent. Several villages and towns are burned. More voices silenced and banished to the Astral before a response can be mustered. The one that is mustered is rather simple. Glamoured Battleminds infiltrate the camps of the Centaur feasting and enjoying their shockingly easy victory. A small but decent number of centaur had been killed by cornered Uskijorans utilizing their Talendra, and only one Warriorformed was present in the area the Centaur attacked. That one proved more capable, cutting down several dozen Centaur before being overwhelmed.

The glamoured Battleminds had only one real task. They turned Centaur warleader agasinst warleader. Their Suggestions and subtle mental manipulations convinced each war leader that their opposite raider leader had intent on their spoils and their women, and their newly claimed lands. If they wanted to keep it, they'd need to launch an attack against the other before they could do the same to them. Their task complete, the Battleminds simply retreat and regroup. A more serious force would need to be organized to deal with the centaur threat.

>>3497792
1. Sally North
2. Sally East

And in the time purchased by the Battlemind's psychological warfare a more considerable force would be put to the field. Battleminds and Warriorformed both leave their fortresses in the north to launch a series of retaliatory raids against Machuman settlements observed from Skyspear. In the east another force of mostly Warriorformed was put together to launch a counter-attack against the Centuar to reclaim lost territory and extract a potent blood price from the Centaur for their insolent and barbaric attack.

In the North the attack was led primarily through a combination of direct attacks with the utilization of suggestive powers to avoid troop concentrations and lower defenses. Galmour in particular was useful in allowing ofr infiltration of Machuman camps, where after the civilian and military populace could be easily dispatched from within. The intent, of course, was to depopulate the entire line of settlements between Skyspear and Wanillaca. The city itself would be avoided.

The East was more of a pitched battle. The majority of forces here were Warriorformed and their intent was more blunt than the depopulation of the Machumans. Cadres of twenty Warriorformed and five Battleminds spread out through the territory to dispatch Centaur hordes. The twenty-five number was one reached through practical experience. Between them a considerable amount of power could be shared to generate shielding and devastate centaur ranks with a combination of elemental and raw psychic power. Being able to successfully outgun the Centaur at range, the centaur would be forced to either close in to melee or suffer further destruction. In close quarter the Warriorformed prove even more potent.
>>
>>3498308
Between charged armor and weapons along with their own prescience and physical capabilities one Warriorformed was worth more than a dozen Centaur warriors. Their weapons were utterly incapable of penetrating a Warriorformed's defenses without Shamanistic assistance and that was curtailed by the presence of Battleminds that could and would pick off the spellcasters the moment they revealed themselves. In areas in which pitched battle was either difficult or impossible subtlety was used to lure Centaur into amubhs zones where they could be fought with even greater ease, or their leadership whittled down by psychic assassins in the night or at distance. Similar tactics were used to kill off Shamans before battle could be engaged, and the use of night offensives was almost exclusively had in these endeavors.

The younglings spend a decade(one turn) as apprentices, learning the tricks of the trades. The shipbuilders learn how to make even keeled sailing vessels, capable of navigating oceans and rivers. Those joining the merchants guild learns the secrets of navigation by stars, how to haggle and deal for the best price, and trade secrets the merchants guild keeps private for its own use. The younglings now face a crossroads. They can return home and establish their own guilds, or they can begin working under established guilds in Tarn.

The herb grows, but not very well. It seems that the high altitude is necessary for the plant to thrive.

>Guilds in Tarn are generally semiautonomous and play important roles in politics and governance. If you accept a guild, you will get better ships and merchants, enabling transoceanic trade. However, those guilds will be powerful and influential and will need to be taken into account/catered to when making policies. Basically, they’re a lobbying group.

Smaller bands combine into bigger bands to form a horde big enough to be able to withstand the unspecialized centaurs, this new band, who in their own tongue call themselves the “Bane of Monsters” wander the centauric mountains in search of prey, they loot centaur weaponry and manage to locate an abandoned centaur village for a few days where they can stock up on higher quality weaponry such as longer spears, more robust centaur derived bows and armor designed to withstand Centauric attacks.

The band has now lost much of its valley lluta numbers, now being divided into roughly equal halves of cliffside and valley lluta riders.

They now go slower, slow enough to be caught by centaurs from behind but fast enough to avoid centaurs through careful regional mapping and the practice of hugging the mountains and cliffs which the centaurs are incapable of scaling with any real certainty.

They have decided to make their home in this strange and dangerous land, and do not want to leave, they will continue to raid and run for as long as they can get away with it.

The food sent by the FHS is extremely welcome, and certainly at least saves a few from succumbing to starvation. It surprises some, and makes quite a few thankful for their efforts, and improves the view of the western most neighbor quite a bit in the republic. The relief is helpful, more so the food than the medicine, but the help does make it easier to get people back up and working should illness befall them, and helps eases the pain of the few who were still alive but stricken with the terrible illness that plagued many people like it did the lands...And the work the farmers were doing to try and work with the grounds despite their...lacking quality's at the moment would help too...

Meanwhile, in the east, the farmers who went to the Versengt would try and learn more about their belief's, along with sharing a few techniques with farming that they knew were very effective, well, least till the land was made infertile anyway. When they eventually left, they'd hopefully leave the people better off than they were, with a bit of extra food and some techniques that might be more effective than they currently had. That, or they'd leave with some techniques that turned out to be better than what they had before. Either way, with this, slowly, the Starkebrisen Republik would start extremely minor, but still important trade with the tribal people. Maybe one day it'll become a proper city state...one day...

>>3491451
The soldiers would, in such a situation, try and make an orderly flying retreat, though unfortunately, a few Verhal and Verstark, roughly 20 percent of the force, would be taken out by the first few projectiles. A few more would be lost in the retreat and by the end of it, around about half if not more of the force would be slain. Despite this, most of the members from the Society for Exploration and Discovery of the Wild would have survived, and, while having sleepless days and nights for some time till they got far enough away, would be able to write a bit down on these beasts. Whether from fear, anger, or simply misunderstanding, these creatures would be considered not wilde, but intelligent animals, or monsters...And needless to say, a response soon would be made...
>>
>>3499607

>Action One.
With the knowledge on these animals on the mountains that are causing such misery, as well as making the current situation worse in such an area, threatening the very existence of all Verhal and Verstark nearby the range, a band of colonist volunteers as well as a large number of soldiers who were in good enough condition to be considered not starved or weakened by hunger, would head out to finally deal with this issue. The civilian volunteers would be known as the Raue Windreiter, lead by Theobald Reinhardt, mostly made up of hunters, people who lost members of their family to these animals, and those who wanted to make the mountains safe once and for all. The force sent would be made of three groups. The Vorwärtsflieger, armed with light crossbows and kleinerpfeil's (flechette's/small darts) and armored with leather, made up of Verhal. The Allgemeintruppe, made up of Verhal and Verstark with light armor, crossbows, spears, and pikes. And lastly the Schwere Bodentruppe, made up mainly of Verstark armed in heavy armor, using spears, swords, and heavy crossbows. Most of the Raue Windreiter make up the Vorwärtsflieger and Allgemeintruppe, and these Raue Windreiter are given decent training for a few months before they would be sent out, join up with the main force, and prepare to deal with these...things once and for all...And they'd try and strike at day, as it seems that is when these monsters are weakest...

>Action Two.
The food situation, while not that much better, still is better, and to supply the forces dealing with a threat to the Republik. Attempts would mainly focus on finding area's that are less effected by that one disaster, and also finding more crops hardy enough to be reliably grown in most area's, and a good candidate for such was a couple of mushrooms found to not be poisonous or have any effects on ones being other than the same things any other food would have... Luckily, as time passes, things will get easier, but there is only so much one can do. A noticeable portion of the food given by the FHS would be used for the military forces heading to deal with the monsters, though really, most in the area the monsters were would support the soldiers dealing with the monsters. Still, the food situation, while still being worked on, was now no longer as devastating as it was, and while many still were hungry, they'd be fed enough that they'd be able to survive.

The swamp and plain were easily taken, such was the might of the Centaur. To the Uski these lands were not too great a loss, what could be extracted had been done so long ago. The real tragedy was the senseless killing, so many dead on either side. That no more blood be shed, a more subtle plot could be devised. Pit brother against brother, open old wounds, flame new rivalries.
In the dark of night the "bodies" could be recovered, brought to the grove or mothers' gardens. So brutal were the beasts acts that even these effigies were damaged.

To the north, the plans of the Battlemind first unfold perfectly, until they are ambushed totally unaware from the rear while burning a camp. How could this be?! These men move silently of mind, of soul! It is this shock, and even disgust that allows the band to be killed by an inferior foe. As their bodies return to their carved state, the Machuman destroy these too with hammer, pick, and fire, the pieces scattered down the mountain.

>>3498309
>>3497872
When the infiltration provided little more than petty squabbles between the beasts, blood was then demanded. The first battleground was the large plains they had shared peacefully for so long. Battlelines were formed, a challenge called out. Centaur flooded to the call, charging and are subsequently mind-crushed, but as their human-like torso fell limp, their equine bodies galloped on! Only with fire and lightning were they slowed and truly killed. What foul magics could cause this? As the sun set on the field, countless centaur lay dead and half-dead. Having experienced this horror firsthand, Battlemind left the carnage in mild shock.
Subterfuge in the marshes proved futile. It seemed as soon as a leader was found killed, another beast would take his place with little mourning. These creatures truly were barbaric.

Master 'shiners were called together, to put aside grievances for the good of all Amazonians. New stills were built specially, new tubs too. Some of the stuff was spirits-awful, not even Cousin Tully could drink it, and he didn't have a tongue! Finally, after weeks of slaving over the jars a formula is found. When mixed in with the earth around the dying plant, spirits-knows-whats happens, and by the morning the plant is perking right up! It's deemed a miracle! Huge batches of the stuff is made, just in case, and housed with the sacred 'shine.

Much to the centaurs' surprise, the interlopers have formed large groups to which they are highly experienced in taking down, as most normal prey in the plains travel in herds.

Armor they would find is primarily designed to fit centaur legs, with arms less common, and breastplates being most rare.

Though some of the armor they have is able to deflect most attacks, it does little for those without breastplates, and even those with it cannot defend against attacks from behind.
The centaur perform their techniques designed for taking down prey in herds. They would whittle them down from afar with arrows and circle their group, with some more brave centaur riding up close to toss nets into the masses, intending to separate them from their allies, with other centaur moving in to stick the immobilized foe with spears.

While they are able to avoid the centaurs reach in the terrain north, the hunting grounds of the centaur would not be so safe as word spreads and more hunters arrive to face the new foe.

It took an excruciating amount of trial and error, but at last the Octopi had achieved their goal. With the paralyzed centaur shaman on the ground, a dozen of Octopi break their camouflage and are now visibly dangling from the trees they usually remained hidden in, before dropping to the ground and getting to work dragging the limp centaur off to their ritual site.
The path through the forest had been cleared of witnesses before, luring them away by causing noise they'd go investigate. As such, the Octopi convoy remained unseen on their way to the wall. From there, another dozen of their kind which had remained hidden by taking on the sturdy brick wall's colour come to aid the others in getting the centaur to the other side of the wall.
It didn't take long for them to reach the site. which has already been prepared. An octagon had been carved into the sand, each corner additionally inscribed with a rune of sorts. At the center, not one stake, but several, just in case the poison wore off early, with enough wood piled up to burn ten centaurs at once.
As the sacrifice is tied to the stakes and the fire lit, the Octopi present begin to motion towards the ocean. They'd continually do so as the flame begins to grow to an astounding size, consuming the shaman and producing thick, almost completely black smoke. If this didn't work to appease It, then they were doomed.

In the months following the calamity, many things have happened in the FHS. In the high seats of the Daiimad, reserved for the major clans, a new seat was installed. Upon the opening of the Daiimad, Orlock Dunven Varke-Sah took his new seat among the other major clans. Clan Varke had grown exponentially since the end of the war, becoming a home for architects, scientists, engineers and builders of all kinds. While their creation of such things as Flame Sprayers and Airships were widely and well known, they contributed many other things, such as the reconstruction of Andreth after the war, the conversion of the slums to a center of progress and manufacturing. They were also one of the first of the clans to begin privately funding the Apothecaries College, and many a Varke clan member taught and studied within its walls. What finally pushed them over the edge of the middling clans into Major status was partially the request of Clan Vay; Air-warships. Using the most advanced aeronautical technologies and designs available, the first of these combat airships, dubbed the Terinth class Air corvette, was a slimmer vessel, armed with mounted crossbows and a single Cup-ballista. It was propelled by 2 side mounted sails, with a large aft mounted rudder that turned the ship. The ship’s single balloon was encased in a wooden frame, which additional armor could be attached if needed. To help compensate for the added weight, more efficient valves and pumps were developed and tested thoroughly until they matched what was expected of them. The ships themselves were designed to be future-proof, and thus lended themselves to modularity, with designs being worked on to fill a variety of roles. Without additional armor, the ship can fly about 350 feet, and can fly about 290 with the armor.

Mining initiatives have been passed by the Daiimad, with focuses on the mountainous regions bordering the Ver. Various minor clans would take advantage of the initiatives, which granted them cheaper prices for mining rites and semi-exclusively deals with some merchants. Within a few months, new towns would emerge on terraced platforms jutting from the mountain side. Various different metals are found, but some unknowns ones are found as well…

1.Combat capable airships

Action 1: The white rock does indeed help with the growing of many plants, especially the healing herb. As the farms begin to produce at full capacity, the spread of the plague slows, and finally stops. The Tarns are through the worst of the crisis, and begin to recover once more. The old trade routes are once again plied by merchant ships, and the western trade system starts up once more. A side effect of the use of the rock and herbs is that the Tarnish agricultural system, long neglected begins to thrive like never before. Plant products become cheaper and more widespread.
>Farming of herbs and other plants using fertilizer

Action 2: The People of Tarn research this white rock, attempting to isolate exactly what makes it so good at growing plants. Heating the rock releases a toxic vapor, one which, when cooled, solidified into a white substance with a yellow coat. The substance is highly flammable and must be kept under water at all times. This will certainly be of use to the navy. Supplies of yellowbrick are sent with the next supply boats to be used by the Tarnish navy.
>Discover phosphorus

>>3500094
The Tarns understand, and move out to scout for any centuars. Try fan along the coasts, searching for these creatures. When seen, arrows from Tarnish bows are usually sufficient to make short work of the beasts. If needed, ballistas with flaming hemp are shot to disperse the herd and set their camp on fire. The ships remain at a safe distance off shore to prevent any chance of boarding and take precautions to prevent sinking.
>>
>>3501031
Peaceful centaur and minotaur fishing vessels are easily murdered and sank, their crew rarely able to defend themselves or swim.

Any outsiders ships coming within range are pelted by arrows.
>>
>>3501079
pelted by arrows by hunters on shore*
>>
>>3501079
The Tarns raise shields to protect the ships’ sides and return fire with their own bows, crossbows and ballistas.
Losing fishing boats causes a decrease in the amount of food available to the centaurs. It becomes harder for the centaurs to feed themselves, decreasing their will for war.
>>
>>3501282
Since most of the fishermen were unable to survive, they no longer needed to feed themselves. Furthermore, fishing was rare, and thus affected little of anything.

Word has spread of these attacks and help comes in the form of shamans.
Knowing of the sudden and unprovoked attacked by yet another race of interloping bipeds, the Zaimür beg of immediate aid from the elements, and call forth massive waves to crash into the ships, other more experienced Zaimür smite the vessels with bolts of lightning from the sky, killing any crew in the way and starting fires.
>>
>>3501308
The ships turn, facing the waves head on and allowing their prows to take the brunt of the blows. Tarns have been crafting ocean vessels for centuries, the boats are held together with rivets and bands of iron, and the waters of the nearshore are relatively shallow, so the waves are weathered quite easily. Lighting strikes light fires and kill sailors, inflicting moderate death tolls on a few ships. Water pump ships begin assisting with these fires, preventing them from spreading or disabling ships as a whole. The forward ballistas and volleys of arrows are aimed at the shamans and loosed, tearing some apart and disrupting the others’ concentration.

Pulling shamans to the front lines of this new threat reduces shamanistic presence on the Uskijoran frontlines and (to a lesser extent) the border between the centaurs and the octopi.

Retcon: “moderate casualties” to “minor casualties”.

1. Support War Effort
2. Coastal Raiding

Attacking the Centaur in the open fields isn't going to achieve results. Instead, over a thousand Warriorformed are sent by boat with the support of Tarn and their own large navy to land and begin stripping the Centaur's holdings on the coastline before pushing further inland. In the meantime efforts are made to fortify key areas in defense of the urban settlements and prevent further centaur incursions.
>>
(Mind you, the waters were never described as shallow, and you cannot make up lore about other peoples lands)
>>3501422
>>3501803
Mobile and in no formation, Zaimür prove difficult targets to hit.
They continue summoning their magics, seeing the waters doing little, they instead focus forming the earth into short walls, allowing both cover for the centaur and greatly hindering any invaders access to land.
Simpler fire magics quickly replace the lightning and orbs of fire soon impact their ships, but are directed to the ballistae when possible.
>>
>>3501803
The Tarnish commander knits his brow.
“With all due respect ma’am, are you sure this is the best course of action? I’m flattered by your faith in our navy, but the truth is we haven’t even established a beachhead yet. I would recommend staying back and trying to fight the monsters normally until we set up a second front here.Still, if you think this is the best course of action, we’d be more than happy to take your men aboard.”
With that, he steps aside and allows the Uskijoran commander aboard the main ship. The bulk of the forces are loaded onto the squat cargo ships that double as personnel carriers for the Tarns. Getting the forces to work together brings some interesting complications as the Tarns find that the Uskijorans all look basically the same. A sort of system is jerry-rigged where the Uskijorans adopt visual differences to set themselves apart from one another, and the two forces merge well. The Uskijorans telepathy is recognized as a method for ships to communicate with one another, and Uskis are distributed to all the ships to act as messengers and coordinators. The Tarnish expeditionary navy improves in cohesion and coordination. As far as battle tactics the two commanders work together to map out new hybrid forces. Uskis are embedded into Tarnish lines, where the Tarns protect them with shield and spear and they can in turn make the line as a whole hold strong using their battle magic.

>>3501903
(Given the fact that you have never described the oceans of this area in any great detail, I must make my own assumptions about what the sea here is like. Given the fact that my boats are near the shore and the bordering biome is flat plains, it is very reasonable to conclude that the water is fairly shallow compared to the open ocean, just like 99% of littoral areas in the real world.)
(PS: RP consequences please. I RP my army taking damage, so you should as well.)
The centaurs might be mobile, but few can avoid a hail of arrows. Centaurs and shamans alike are hit by flying arrows and ballistas, animals collapsing midstride, throwing their running formation into disarray. Shamans who pause to do magic or focus their energy become immediate targets of the hail of bolts and arrows. Something of a rampart is formed, but at the cost of a large chunk of the centaurs and roughly half of the shamans.
The fire-orbs arc towards the Tarnish ship. Many miss, given the distractions and pandemonium on shore messing with the concentration of the shamans. Those that hit quickly set the tops of the ships ablaze, disabling them until a pump-ship is able to come douse them. Three Ballista-ships are disabled in this manner, leaving a remaining 22.

The arrows are being sent from both sides, so it is not so much a hail as it is shared volleys, though to call it a volley from the centaur would be inaccurate as they do not have such human cohesion.
But occasionally the unlucky and weak are picked off at the shore

(Obviously, the imposed parts are not canon)

As time goes on, more centaur arrive, hearing word of the attack and assist their brothers. Sacrifices are given to the spirits and earth from safe distances, and the Zaimür continue their barrage of magic upon the ships.
Blessings are also performed as the centaur die, guiding their spirits into the next life and requesting their power in this battle.

The missionary would repeat everything he heard in his mind, trying to memorize it to write down when he had access to some parchment. It certainly was worth more study, but for the most part his work would be minor and not exactly released for the rest of the Republik to see. Still, he would spend some time trying to figure out the meaning of such strange words slowly, and where they came from...for better or worse. Slowly but surely however, as the food situation improved in the Republik, trade would start to increase with the Versengt or Uru as they called themselves. It also is worth mentioning that, when the Uru explained to the farmers that the old ways were sacred to them, they understood, and hoped that the methods they suggested could at least be of some use, which it seemed it did to an extent for the younger farmers...

Meanwhile, with the talks for the time being over, and the nation no longer in crisis, many debates and speeches as election day came closer would be held, and it would seem that Englin Gúnthers would be the main rival of Grüber for the title of Präsident. The message that Englin gave was fairly clear, while Grüber did some things, he focused too much on the Carsten Plan without putting much into law outside of the Land Inheritance Act, and that, while she wouldn't remove the Carsten plan, she'd not focus on it until every Verhal and Verstark was fed, and the monsters in the mountains to the west were dealt with in full, and even then it would be limited, claiming that they had all the land they'd need for some time, and it was time to develop it. Carsten's speeches were focused mainly on the Land Inheritance Act and all that the Carsten Plan had done for the Republik, however word got out that the Land Inheritance Act was to protect his assets and important allies he had and the effects on the average person was merely a bonus, and it was pointed out by some of Carsten's rivals that the initial support after the Teufelverhungern was passed while Carsten was still returning from the summit...Unfortunately for Carsten, nothing similar came out about Englin... And when the day came to vote, many more voted for Englin over Carsten...He'd be remembered as a decent Präsident, and might have a chance when the next elections happen...Additionally, more local elections would happen as well, with a little less drama and rumors...

>>3500094
The Emissary, unlike last time would be able to properly speak to someone. Specifically a diplomat assigned by Präsident Englin. They would ask a number of questions, such as where these so called 'Centaur's' were and how they posed a threat to the Republik, along with stating how the main military issue facing the Republik at the moment was the 'Schreckenstatuen' as they had been recently named, horrific statue like monsters that steal both food, tools, and people in the night, but become statues in the day, or so the reports say...Though, they would hear them out.

In The city of Achulla the Qhapaq decides to name his fledgling empire, and after some pondering he decides to name it Iskaysuyu for the time being. Due to the fact that the nation is ran by (in theory) two grand cities.

Action 1:
The Qhapaq hears of stories of a raiding force of demons in the east, and decides that securing such an area in the near future may prove vital for the defence and legitimacy of his kingdom, for in his mind land owned by foreign creatures is land which will prove hard to wrest control of in the future.

Due to this revaluation he takes a portion of the laborers of achulla and puts them to work on constructing a sturdy bridge system that can be both controlled and can support the movement of armies.

>a bridge is constructed that connects Achulla to the tile to it's east

Action 2:
From the depths the band returns, and unusually they are accompanied by the lost group as well, carrying a plentiful haul of delicious and life dense fungi for the population to partially recover off of.

But the lost group has changed, they have grown thinner yet heavier, and wrapped upon one of each of their arms is a strange tube, each one has a different tube device which has not yet been fully identified.

Though behind closed doors they have been found to have had almost their entire bodies replaced by a mortifying metal shell, seemingly only their organs being detected to still function, though their organs are accompanied by an odd constant tapping sound which is amplified depending on how much movement the participant is taking part in.

These individuals are taken to a remote location along with the foreign items they had alongside them and are inspected by the heads of the ancestral faith for signs of corruption or a demonic touch, and are interviewed so that they can reveal what happened to them.

They were eager to clear themselves of suspicion and told all they knew.

They described how they had met a wiring being with red eyes that glowed, who spoke in a strange tongue somehow familiar, as if it was a version of the one true language more primordial and root.

They all fell down into a deep slumber and when they awoke the newer team was right around the corner, which probably means that they had been woken up by the noise they made.

Using their knowledge another expedition is sent to gather more of this delight and to stray from the path every so often in order to explore more of the great labyrinth.

>Action One.
With the major reduction of statues in the area, the remaining ones that are able to be seen are destroyed posthaste as the news of what had happened to the nearby civilians reaches the soldiers. Hopefully there would be no more issues for some time and the people could rest easy, but the military and the Raue Windreiter's stay active for now, just to make sure that if they do come back, they can start a mass search for the nest of these dangerous beasts.

>Action Two.
With Englin in power, the very first thing she did was subsidize the mushroom farms that came about and, of all the many new idea's thought up to replace or improve the ancient three field system, Englin would support the so called four field one. This would lead to a major increase in food production as the quality of soil for more traditional crops would be able to improve a bit faster while larger mushroom farms using dead wood and special sheds would grow in use. Every month was a day the soil grew richer and the disaster's effects on the soil waned and newly born cattle brought the numbers back close to the old pre Teufelverhungern numbers. The Verhal and Verstark Population however, was still only barely increasing and noticeably lower than what it was before the disaster, but it seems that it was starting to become a sad memory...Many however would hope that wild animals, and, especially for the people of Nordhafen, fish, which were not able to be saved like their cattle, would soon be returning to normal numbers...Though, that likely would take longer to recover...

Emergence. That's what this place was called. He'd never really spoken with Mephie, only recalling their brief exchange and deciding simply... that was all that was necessary. This place was called Emergence. It just *was*. When an outsider wills something one who can see between the cracks and fissures can feel It too, and so that Is what this place was called. Father Idly wondered If the place was named such to represent her freedom from her old cage, or If It was simply to represent the gateway leading there.

Pointless speculation.

The Children have long surrounded the area around Emergence. The rivers, corrupted as they are nothing to traverse. Hostile forces are non-existent. Awoo presence Is nothing, their amusing wall not-withstanding. Children simply march up In waves roughly constituting a line until they have the place surrounded from a distance, Colossi dotting the ranks. (The Centaur camp will also be surrounded If It Is still largely Inhabited.)

One Child marches forward as close as he can get to the centaurs from the ranks, specially altered for this job. A little touch, the Devourer draped In what might be taken for robes If they were not clearly layers of flesh.

With hollow eyes and a powerful predatory body that looked almost out of place In such attire were It not of flesh, the creature wore a smile so wide It almost did not fit his mouth, lined with jagged meat-tearing teeth. His posture was oddly formal, his hands clasped together out In front of him, an odd gesture done with the obscene predator claws.

He opened his mouth and the words echoed strangely, sounds and Intent morphing Into recognized language forming a bridge of Interpretation.

"Greetings, don't be alarmed. I've been watching you all camp outside here for sometime, surely you've seen the Children from afar? Not friends of dear old Mephie I suppose? I've come to bargain, this place Is something I'm Interested In and I'm sure we can come to a... reasonable conclusion.

As for names, call me Father, or 'The' Father If you prefer. So, what did dear Mephie do to rouse you all to such violence? Threaten your extermination perhaps? Wrong you perhaps?Just be an Insufferable cunt In general?"

Attempts to set or lob fire on the ships is allowed to continue for a rather considerable period of time but the reasoning becomes abundantly clear after a few hours. In a single fell sloop most of the shamans are assaulted by a counter barrage of mind crushing magic of which the centaur are unfamiliar with and thus unprepared for. Only after the shamans have been devastated is a communication issued between ships to begin a more conventional assault of their own elemental and psychic magic on the shores vulnerable defenders.

Previous battles have taught the Warriorformed that centaur are most vulnerable to raw physical damage. The ammunition on both Uskijoran and Tarnish ships are put to use by the Warriorformed. Much more accurate with their talendra than the archers they project arrows and bolts with pinpoint accuracy and greater force upon the defenders of the earthworks and provide cover for a landing force of Tarnish and Warriorformed to move in.
>>
>>3502471
The centaur meet the being with spears in hand, the majority of them wear freshly harvested bones for armor and trophy, and other various items from the slain soulowed. The appearance of the Child being so obviously predatorial and wearing such large trophies interests them highly. They had never seen any such predator, let alone any sentient predators at all.

Observers admire the garb of flesh while the herd leader speaks to the Child.
He explains the long trek the herds had made to arrive at these lands. All receiving visions in the night of gifts and power from a being in Emergence, others simply curious, they made their way there and were met with only lies. The Deceiver was beaten, and the fort taken as their prize.

The centaur are in need of supplies and are eager to trade.
>>
>>3502350
The Emissary explains through a combination of rhetoric and picture projections. The centaurs look terrifying, covered in savage bone talismans with filed teeth and blood dripping from their maw. They are often depicting in the throes of murdering the innocent and beautiful Uskijoran maidens, or partaking in other truly savage delights. The Emissary is keen to shock and disgust the Prasident and his ministers with her depiction of the beasts. "They are in league with the Two Horsemen, and act as their mortal counterpart. Where the famine and disease come these horsemen follow bringing war and violence. Once we came to these shores to warn you of the Twins approach. Now we come to warn you of the approach of these monstrous centaur. They have built boats, and are constructing a navy to move West after they have exterminated us. We are holding them back, for now, but we cannot hold against them forever, weakened as we are by the earlier calamity. I have come to ask for military aid in putting down this threat before you find them galloping on your shores and doing this to your women like they have done to ours. We have little to offer by way of compensation, but these Schreckenstatuen seem like something we are much more able to deal with than these Centaur. If you will help us, we will send some mystical aid to protect you from these Schreckenstatuen or help you find and curtail their activities."

>>3501803
For many Uskijoran, the concept of war had been alien to them. The Battleminds and Warriorformed were created specifically to handle issues of violence and keep them from the general populace. Even after training with talendra for defense, the reality was that capability did not equal intent. Many simply chose to flee when presented with fighting because they weren't fighters psychologically. This hasn't changed. What has changed is the means by which the populace contributes to the war effort. Before, it was a simply exchange of psychic power for protection. Now, it is an active exchange. Many, especially those that had suffered loss at the hands of the centaur, would give everything they had to the point of collapse to the Conduit. Production and trade slow. Fishing slows. The Conduits are constantly and audibly buzzing with the amount of power being projected through them. What were once powerful warriors become superhuman connected to it and despite the great personal cost as childbirth slows and families become strained by the power requirements it is felt as necessary to prevent more slaughter and more silenced voices. To die was one thing, but to have ones effigy smashed violently was another. It was truly abhorrent and defied understanding and it absolutely had to be stopped, at any cost.

Even the Dryad is beseeched for advice in how to handle the Centaur along with their responsibility to her grove and the natural world. They lament that they cannot defend both and seek her guidance in how to proceed.

>>3502307
The reinforcements diverted to the coast decrease the number of centaurs at the Vair-Uski front and the Vair-Octo front.
The ships, seeing the increase in the number of centuars they are facing, simply turn around and sail away, towing the disabled crafts behind them.
After returning to Uskijora for repairs, the ships set out again, attacking the province two tiles further west. Once again, the fishers boats and farms are burned. This time, however, a landing is established, on the eastern and western coasts of the river. Ships are sailed a bit up the river to provide a northern lookout, and spearmen and uskijoran mages are unloaded and set on watch.
>Roughly 100 ships, 7000 spearmen and 1000 Uskijorans are landed
>>
>>3503175
Quick clarification, repairs and restocking take roughly 2 weeks.
>>
>>3503175
The Uskijoran force of 1000 do not participate in this landing. Their ships continue west, around the coast, and land on undefended shores far from the battlefield in the east. From there they fan out into small bands of fifty and begin their hunt. The Warriorformed show no mercy, slaughtering any minotaur or centaur they come across and burning and dismantling any camps or homes they find.

In the east Tarnish troops are supported by a fresh offensive by Battleminds refreshed and strengthened by their proximity to the conduit and the intense efforts of the populace at home. Shamanistic fire is turned on its user by battleminds and shamans in particular are targeted by the battleminds' brain crushing powers. By and large the Tarns ate forced to fight without much in the way od aid from the battleminds so consumed are they in the destruction of shamans and war leaders. Once the shamans fall silent only then do most of the battleminds turn their attention to devastating enemy ranks with lightning, flame, and telekinesis.
>>
>>3502359
Most, if not all statues appear to be gone now. Though each night after the first figures were destroyed, the inhabitants of the hills would be subject to the increasing violence during the night. No longer are simple food stores and livestock taken, but alongside them, the people resting in their homes continue to suffer directly as they had the first night of the figures' destruction.

The military likely does not witness much besides some poorly thrown boulders or trees, if lucky, they may see large figures in the distance, they are much less subtle than prior.
But they very likely do not know where they come from besides west, towards the mountains.

The most deadly and efficient hunters begin to make a larger presence in the Vair'pökol, known as Lókosság. Wearing attire made almost entirely of bone, with some leather, they claim, and others swear it to be true, that their trophies they wear as armor to give them supernatural abilities. Along with this, they are blessed by the Zaimür, as they often provide their excess flesh from their hunts, granting them blessing from the spirits to further enhance their ability.
They are easily distinguished from afar, often attaching long bones their upper backs with dyed leather to wave in the wind.
>Lókosság

A new magic is discovered.
Upon sacrificing material goods, they find themselves able to produce bountiful crops of food from the earth. They use this mainly to feed the bipedal slaves for use in meat farming, but can also produce excess food to provide sustenance to Vaidász, should they find themselves in prolonged battles, or other such situations.
>Shamanistic Nutrients

As time goes on, Zaimür better learn what the source of their powers is. They commune with the spirits, a skill rarely seen, being such a taxing and difficult task.
Elder Zaimür discover how to better harness spirit energy, that which is consumed by the centaur from the world's creatures, and released upon death into the earth when they die, and then transferred into the herbivores they prey on, forming a complete and eternal cycle.
Using their newfound knowledge, they can bless others with restoring magic to heal wounds or provide boons.
>Healing/Blessings

Zaimür with the favor of the spirits are always able to cast simple magics, capable for example of lighting a candle aflame, or knocking a fruit from a tree with a gust of wind. With this innate power, they can offer sacrifices much easier. Previously needing to spend time sacrificing food or centaur-made gifts into the earth, they can simply render smaller versions of these items which are carried within a saddlebag into ash and simply let the wind carry it away and into the environment, providing a quick and efficient way to resume casting.

With various supplies going missing from mining camps, fears of infiltration or wild tribals fill paranoid miners heads, and while far fetched, the clans sponsoring these mines decide that the risk of losing the mines over paranoia or worse is worth the deployment of soldiers to guard the camps. In the mines, a variety of mundane materials are located and excavated, such as iron, copper, along with more interesting materials, such as a crystal that was discovered by accident that provided light depending upon how heated it was, dubbed Glodite, a rock that, if struck with enough force, explodes violently; which caused numerous injuries, which was nicknamed Miner’s peril, and later named detonium, and a foul smelling yellow colored rock that burned, called sulphur. Both the sulphuric and Glodite are able to be mined with no issue, but a safe way to mine the detonium will need to be further researched. The apothecaries college is convinced that they could use these materials for some purpose that could benefit our people, but they aren’t sure what to do with them yet…

Airships received a new weapon in the form of drop-barrels! These barrels are designed to shatter on impact, scattering whatever is inside. So far, the filling for these has been caltrops, which are a useful hazard to deploy before or during a battle. The mechanism for launching the drop-barrels involves placing them on a ramp with a spring loaded trap door which opens as the barrels roll, and close when they fall, ensuring that no accidental crew deaths occur as long as no malfunctions occur in the mechanism. A second type consists of a minimally sealed barrel filled with incendiary compound with a wick further slathered in the gel like substance. When lit, the wick does not extinguish until both it and the compound are burnt up. This feature helps create barrels that spread the compound upon impact that also light the fire, creating areas of flame where they strike. While not always reliable in their ignition, the gel that erupts on the ground is still usable, and any sort of flame applied to it will still cause a conflagration, and thus they are dropped in pairs, In case one is still able to light.

Actions:

1. Reinforced mining sites and new materials

2. New airship weapons.

The gold and salt are not of much interest to the Tarns—they have many sources of those goods. The silver, however, quite interests them. As heavy as gold, but of a totally different color and sort. The merchants are intrigued and are willing to trade. They bring fish, fruits, amber, stained glass, lumber (of particular importance to the Valandopolians, who are rebuilding their navy), iron, and many other goods to the city. A vast wave of prosperity and advancement awaits the Vals, if they can simply muster enough silver(or other goods) to procure it.
——-
A bit later, a Tarnish diplomat arrives at the city. He seems far nicer than the slightly slimy merchants the Val’s has been dealing with up until now. He requires men and ships, in order to defend against some monsters. In exchange, he is willing to pay in fine lumber, the sort one needs to build a navy.

1. Psiblades
2. Half-Life Soldiers

The conflict has provided ample opportunity for testing and improvement of existing psionic manifestations. One of the most commonly used is the basic Psiblade, a psychical manifestation of Talendra and raw psionic energy channeled through an Azurewood hilt. The blade can, and does, cut through all materials as easily as a razor through paper. In trained hands it is more than capable of killing a dozen in a single swipe and can redirect projectiles and elemental energy through proper psionic focus.

In the Umma the Half-Dead commune with their living kin as they move about the Grove. The borders between world are thinning, and more of the Uskijoran once regulated solely to the Astral are finding a sort of unfeeling half-life iwhere their stone, wood, and clay forms are capable again of movement and interaction with the world. Once this was impossible, but through the Dryad's blessing and the Umma's own power more are being granted this half-life. Many of those who had once fallen and returned to their element are taking up Psiblade and donning armor to rejoin the fight as the Half-Dead. While the typical Uskijoran is vulnerable, being made from clay, the Battleminds and Warriorforms returned to life in such a fashion are a true terror. Reborn of solid stone or psionically strengthened wood, they are impervious to all but the most determined efforts with pickax and hammer, as they must been broken through sheer blunt force. For those that rejoin the fight in this manner, their existence is a tenuous one. This state is their Final Life, and once the form is shattered their spirits are gone from both worlds. Even among the warrior born caste it is rare to find one willing to venture to the front-lines, and most stand as silent guardians of homesteads and villages. Of the ones returned to life no more than fifty of them are warrior caste returned to the front lines to do battle. What is changing is the number. As the war drags on and the wounded expire within the Grove they too return to do battle in ever increasing numbers. The nature of the Umma is changing with trauma and conflict, becoming poisoned as more untrained are exposed to violence, and their peaceful nature is likewise becoming corrupt.

The agreement is signed without hesitation, and supplies of wood are sent into Valendopol shipyards.

EAST CONTINENT READ THIS PASSAGE
Once more smoke rises, and blows east into the storm, which crawls ever closer to shore. Waves grow larger over the next few days, fishing vessels catch very little when they do dare to set out into the raging seas. The shadows of twisting pillars fall and crash into the water through the fog. Hope wanes.

Mirelings skip down the river from the Nexus, and into the Northern Gulf, from there they fan out. The seafloor here is found to be rather baren, simply mile after mile of sand, but the further south they travel the more life they find. Kelp, fish of all kinds, squid who run from them, and... octopi carrying iron and copper goods back and forth.

>>3499729
The Centaur and Awoo have kept their distance, but as the horde from the west draws closer, fewer hunting grounds are available. The rivers too are filled with filth, the fish are dead, and only the foolish would attempt to drink it. (>>3497713)

The mining operations were a major success in two areas; first the hills in the shadow of the Ver- controlled mountains, just below the surface were found caverns and sulphurous hot springs; second the oft-overlooked mountain territory in the north, a strange translucent crystal, at first only tiny shards and then as mining continued some were found as large as a man's torso!
A new fashion had gripped the middling classes of the FHS, pipe-smoking. A woody plant from the site of the Truce City had been found to give a pleasing aroma and slight numbing effect on the body when burnt. This was deemed the cause of the catastrophic explosion in the old slums, when a pipe was not fully extinguished before work began using Liftum, accelerated by experimental propellants in a neighbouring building. The damage thankfully affected only 6 or so buildings, but the loss of life was far worse. Some bodies were never found, others only a leg or hand were discovered.

The Dryad is once more called, and once more after days of meditation, she answers. But it was not the answer they were expecting, as all the Dryad could do was weep. Sap ran in rivulets like tears down her bark. This was not a mere sadness, nor the sorrow of the loss of a voice, it was a howling grief at the loss of hope. Her leaves began to fall for the first time, until her branches were bare, and she could no more speak through the wind.

With a youngin fresh back from his fancy education with the Tarn, the process is greatly reduced in time, given his introduction of methodical testing. A bright red paste is created, which proves 98% retardant to fire; poor Cousin Mortie, you will be missed.
The Lizzies sure are strange folk, but their our strange folk, and we gotta set 'em straight. If they keep botherin' the spirits like this they'll never get no rest! A group of Amazons march to the shrine, but as they get closer they notice it's relatively empty, but at the far side is an altar covered in jars of 'shine, flowers, sun-sun, amber, and all other manner of important symbols of Yucklinism. In alcoves around the place are crude pictures of lost lizards, and the occasional Yulklin, painted on tree bark. The Lizzies aren't pesterin' the spirits at all, they're honouring them! Within the shrine the Amazons feel a peace over them, Auntie Avery weeps claiming to know her own youngins still love her from the other side.

>>3504012
The paste is mass produced, and stored in small copper or iron pots for transport, as wooden vessels would begin to consume the paste and grow to become solid masses. These metal pots have an unforeseen consequence however, as the paste heats it rapidly expands in a flammable foam, filled with pockets of air. These pots will crack, and sometimes explode in a ball of foam, which almost anything will ignite and set ablaze.

The diplomat would be horrified with what was shown to them, though would seem...slightly unconvinced that the sights were true at first, thinking it was akin to mere propaganda even if very unnerving, though once the thought of them being in league with the horsemen that were clearly sent by Geheim and Y, they were more susceptible to the idea's, and the offer of the Schreckenstatuen being slain was a major thing to consider... After all that was said, and shown, they'd seem very uncomfortable and say "I'll...tell Englin at once...Please, remain here. I'll return shortly." After, some minutes had passed, they'd return and say "I...Englin will see what she can spare, it is quite likely you will be reeving aid from the Raue Windreiter or some minor force...I also expect the navy to have some work done to it in short order...Do you have any ships that could be used for transport by any chance?"

>>3504886

The Missionary would return to the Uru and quietly try and learn the source of the odd words they spoke. They'd be subtle, speaking about many things to one and slowly bringing the conversation to a place where they could gain information. They would of course occasionally bring some goods to trade or tell any who were interested about Hel'ay who they were and the stories about them, but they would slowly try and find where the origin of the language was from. Maybe they'd get enough peaces to fit the puzzle together?

>Action one.
After quite some time the people from the Society for Exploration and Discovery of the Wild who were on the clippers given by the Tarnish Merchants Guild would return, and some time after the map was given to the guild, their work would be able to be seen. They had spent about a year roughly, and have stated that they weren't able to go near the 'land cursed by Geheim' for long due to the lack of food there outside of fish, and they had returned simply due to the fact that food had grown scarce recently and the ships were in need of maintenance that couldn't be done on sea without refined products, the kinda stuff they ran out of. Regardless, this has lead to many curios as to the lands across the oceans...

>>3503838

>Action Two.
With the attacks continuing and no statues remaining nearby, the force would advance and try to find where the main den of these creatures were so they might destroy it and cease the slaughter and destruction being done to their people. Very few unlucky soldiers would be killed by the attacks seeing as the aim of the enemy was poor, but it was clear that they were winning, or at the very least did a good amount of damage to the monsters...They just needed to find their home and deliver the killing blow...Surely, while smarter than the average wolf, they were still animals...right?

Hope. Hopes Rides Alone. Multiple times the Uskijoran had attempts to warn the world of impending calamity. From atop the harbor walls of Argetyi Uskijorans look into the sea and realize what it was. It had followed them. It had followed them from their own world and chased them here. It hungered and it sought to destroy and corrupt and obliterate hope and love and beauty. That power, that malignant force, sought nothing more than to consume good and sanity and replace it with its own brand of madness. It was here. It likely had been for some time. It had been the force lurking in the ocean. The wars here had diverted so many resources from solving the problem when it had been young and now the Umma was weaker than it had ever been. Warfare had done more than just kill. The Reborn were changed. They couldn't be called Uskijoran anymore. Their half-life was dedicated solely to killing and bringing misery. They could not recognize their friends or family or music or art. They only recognized the violence that had ended them. Violence begets violence, and now it was creating its own twisted children.

The Umma thrums. The war needed to end before all things end. Everyone must know about the Malignance. The force that cast a shadow over both worlds could be nearly felt in the air. Something had to be done before it was too late to do anything. The proposed invasions are canceled, the warriors brought home and their presence replaced with the violent Reborn. Those beasts of stone and blood lust would be more than capable of holding the line while the Umma considered how best to handle the coming threat. Within the community a dozen courses of action are proposed and shot down. The Uskijoran were the most powerful race of psychics alive, and even they knew that with all their tools and powers and tricks they were but children in the face of the power than came. They would need a great deal of help from any being that called this world home.

And if that should fail there only other option was to cast themselves through the Astral in hopes of finding a new home once this was well and truly lost and start the cycle anew.

Hope rides alone, with us, and should we fail, this world is doomed. I hope your second life is happier than the end of this one. My body will remain here to commune with my sisters. If you have experience mages, sages, or those versed in the Astral, their aid is needed now more than ever in the history of your world. I am -" She stops. Composes herself. "We are sorry. All of my sisters. Please, Lady Prasident, spread the word to those we cannot for our efforts will be used to contain this calamity. Let them know of this end of all sanity. Word comes from some of the local traders of what is occuring in the eastern ocean. These traders, ordinarily the most charitable and friendly denizens of the Bennia, appears nearly hysteric. Word sweeps Bennia of the coming of the End, of vivid depictions and projections of a maglignant force emerging soon from the ocean. All but one of the traders pack up and head back home. The one that remains sits in meditation, facing east, out toward Saeyethri, with her legs crossed and hands pressed together. When pressed she does respond in short sentences. Go West. Flee, if you can. Death and madness both will chase you.

The Uskijoran had never attempts to commune with Mephie through the Astral. Not after their first meeting at any rate. Now they came, inviting her inside of that sacred bubble of the Umma. They were frantic, panicked, and frightened. It was easy to see why. Mephie could doubtlessly feel the presence that unnerved them.

"Mephie, can you feel it coming? That power. The Old Ones. They're coming for us. We don't have the power to stop them alone. Once you came to us for aid. Now, we come to you for alliance. We must work together with any who call this world home before that which comes takes it from all of us."

1. Prepare
2. Rally

Uskijorans return from all over the world to their towns and cities. They have all heard the call, participated in the conversations in the Umma. They know what is coming and what must be done to battle it. So many are exhausted from the war and from giving their efforts to fight the centaur. The best Battleminds and Warriorformed are forced to continue fighting on the border to prevent a Centaur breakthrough while the Umma prepares itself to handle that which comes. The strongest Warriorformed take their armaments into the Astral with them and begin the search. The power that comes will have a presence there as it did before, and if it can be found it just might be slain before it manifests further into the Prime Material. This first battlefield of the war is one in which few of the Material can lend aid. They would have to project, and be powerful sorcerers in their own right to participate, but these stoic Warriorformed will deny none the right to fight for their own survival. That is the sally.

The preparation is different. It is a banking of power into rods of pure silver, capped with Azurewood. These act as batteries, and every second of every day these are created and power is stored in them for later use. Many Uskijoran know that they may not survive this in either world, and put their dual-consciousness into their preparation so that if they should die a Final death their power may still be used to defend their kin. Conduits are built. The population stagnates as few children are born these hard years. Too much effort had been made in the war to spare any for the creation of a new generation. There is an understanding that this is where it could end. Food is stockpiled and contingencies are made should the worst happen. Some Uskijoran wander the Astral, already looking for a potential new home should this one prove untenable.

The Daiimad had doubtlessly heard of the fair maidens from the East. Even seen them in Tarn or the like. Often described has among the most beautiful and delicate women one had ever seen it was a surprise to finally have a visit from one. Just one. The pale skinned blonde nevertheless had eyes of gold. Her dress hugged her frame, and she carried nothing but a bit of wood attached to her hip. Her words were nearly irresistible by man and woman alike, and word spread within moments of her intent to speak with the Daiimad. She carried dire words of prophecy as her kind once had before. The woman took the floor. The eyes of the world were upon the Battlemind put the woman appeared utterly serene. There was no mind tricks or psychic power at work. It was just a woman pleading for aid. If they would not heed her without the aid of powers their people would not either, and it wouldn't matter if she used them or no. Of course, the Tarn's magic detector continued to flash with orange smoke in her presence. The Uskijora were simply too inherently magical to prevent setting it off.

"By now many of you have heard the proclamations of my Sisters. Once, we came to your lands to warn you of the coming of the Horsemen. Now we come to warn you of something worse lurking within the eastern oceans. It casts a pall over the Astral and its emergence has awoken storms and floods across the East. It comes for all of us, all of this world. The Dryad proclaims the death of hope strides nigh. We say that Hopes remains as long as there is will to grasp it. We cannot fight this battle alone. It is a battle for the soul and sanity of this world. What comes is a hungering void that swallows all hope and desire. We are searching for its mind in the Astral so that our most skilled warriors may go there and slay it. I too will go with my Sisters and Mothers to wage this battle once my business here has concluded."

Her attention shifts from one side of the room to the other, giving each dignitary equal attention to her words. "I have come before this group of esteemed individuals, the powers of the mighty Western world, to issue to you a warning and a plea. Should we fail to kill this monster it will sweep all life from the East before turning its attention West. We cannot fight two wars at once. The Centaur that assault us in the East are numerous and savage. Their attacks occupy too many of our limited warriors to also contend with That Which Comes. We ask that you lend to our cause your warriors and your mages and your scholars. Your warriors to contain and eliminate the Centaur, and your learned men and women to aid us in researching and defeating the great threat that looms upon us. This will be no Horsemen. What comes will not merely pollute your crops and wither your livestock. It will not be sickness or rumbling bellies. That Which Comes will consume everything and leave behind it a broken mass of insanity and corruption that cannot be healed through time. What comes is the greatest test of your skill and determination that this world has yet faced. If we falter - if we fail, here, in this fight - there will be no tomorrows. Hope cannot ride alone, noble leaders. Hope must ride together. Or all hope will die."

A way to mine detonium was slowly discovered, via rapidly heating and cooling the material, still active portions would become weakened, and were able to be more or less pulled out of the rockface. Varken engineers have already begun to begin development on thing that could utilize the material.

The College has made a discovery that could change warfare forever in the FHS, no, the world. An idle research team was tasked with making use of sulphur decided to grind down the nasty smelling rock and mix it with whatever they had lying around the lab. It isn’t sure who exactly came up with the working mixture, but the mix of powdered sulphur, charcoal, and saltpeter seemed to do it. The mixture would ignite, generating much heat and gas, and caused the glass vials’ cork to violently pop off and smash into the ceiling. Quickly, the researchers took interest, which then lead to a scramble to weaponize this powder. This would of course take time, but this would now become a secret among the college until ready for use.

In the bottom of the former oasis's those sent in emerge with stories of the awakened underworld, apparently the places they explored were now devoid of sentient life, only beasts and new areas of life dirt are found.

Spies and diplomats send their regards back to Achulla.

People are momentarily taken aback by her entrance, but a lot of the Tarns share her sentiment. What was this meeting about, anyways?
>>3505422
A momentary silence follows the battleminds proclamation. The People of Tarn are the first to speak.
“Thank you for the speech. I think we can all appreciate the stakes apparent in the question we face today. The question is, what to do about it? The specific nature of the threat is unknown, and given the dual assault from the other attacks that the Uskijorans have faced, the riders and beast-men, I fear that they may not be able to hold against a third attack. Our priority ought to be securing their borders and defending against whatever comes from the east. What do you think”
He turns to the other diplomats, awaiting their response.

Moji stood, staring at what was before her and she was uncertain. She was unsure what to do, she was afraid and fearful, the Awoos had stockpiled much. Her children had grown and spoke full senteances almost and could walk safetly if set down.

>>Action 1.
In these dire forms, the Awoo will work together, the individual city's/towns/villages being sent with one of Moji's burgeoning intelligent children, to help make sure all Awoos will be fine, even if multiple citys might have to be handled by one or more of her children.

>>Action 2.

Our water runs in many parts filthy, fish are dying and hurt and our crops struggle, Moji goes to the conduit, she goes to it with uncertainty and she goes to it with hopes of gaining some sort of strength, of gaining power from what the Uski had left in Awoo territory.

Moji wanted help for her people.

The diplomat would seem worried and not know what else to say after the delivery of such news, though while they'd take it with a grain of salt, it still was worrying, and something they'd have to report to the Präsident...Regardless, it was quite likely this little meeting was now over, there were important things that the new Präsident had to do...

>>3505148

It wouldn't take longer than a few days for a group of Verhal and Verstark to arrive when the news that a new meeting was to occur. The people there likely wouldn't recognize any outside of a single adviser who was with the new Präsident. Englin would simply quietly wait for the meeting to start shortly after arriving and having had everything set up so her stay would be fine.

Action 1: After the third minor conflagration tears through the streets of Tercester, the sheepish heads of the shipbuilders guild are hauled before the city magistrate. One decides to try his luck pleading ignorance. How were they supposed to know that their paste was causing fires? In fact, how does the magistrate? Correlation doesnt prove causation, you know. That’s a logical fallacy, that is. Frankly, such unscientific thinking is exactly what’s wrong with kids these days. Always jumping to conclusions before finding any proof. Don’t worry, we’re not mad, just disappointed.
The other builders only get a week in the stocks.
The news of the exploding foam is brought to the People’s attention, and immediately piques interest. Obviously in present form the paste was a danger, but it could be an opportunity as well. The People ordered investigation into how the explosive and incendiary properties of the paste could be reduced or amplified. For the former, scientists attempt to mix water or soot into the paste before heating it, in hopes that fluting the paste in transport will make it more stable. They also attempt submerging the pots in water, in order to keep the whole contraption at a stable temperature. On the side of amplifying the paste’s effects, scientists attempt to mix the yellow-brick(White phosphorus) into the paste, in hope that it’s self igniting properties will result in a more potent blast. Needless to say, these experiments are left to the particularly disliked undergrads and performed in rooms with thick stone walls, so that no fire can escape.
>Investigate plant paste

Action 2: Attempts to channel the plant paste explosions are also attempted. Placing the paste at the bottom of a steel tube seems to create a unidirectional burst of flame. This ought to get more investigation.

The representatives from the FHS listened to what the being had to say, which left them with many questions. What is a dryad, and why did these people seem to believe it’s words without much question, what proof did they have of such a force in this “astral” place that only they seem to know of, etc…
The centaurs they spoke of were unknown to the FHS, but from what the woman spoke, they sounded like dangerous, and evil Grittidim, and her specific use of the words “contain and eliminate” made a few of the humans smirk a bit.
When the tarnish speaker addressed his concerns, and the suggestion that they all defend the Uski borders puts them on edge. One of the humans speaks up. “The Free Human State wishes to know why we should send our men to a foreign land to die over the vague threat of a greater force that seems to lack evidence to the fact that it even exists. The FHS does not see anything to gain from such actions at this time.”
>>
Centaur must travel extreme distances in their lifetime, so it would only make sense that they eventually improve their ability to do so.
Using primarily copper, they learn to cast the metal into the shape of their hooves, and using bronze or copper nails to set them in place.
This aids them greatly in the northern hills and swamps, where their hooves may be more prone to environmental damage, as well as aiding with the extra weight and wear from the increasing weight of modern implements such as armor or supplies.
They may now trek much further distances and be exposed to more environments and weight for extended periods of time.
>Horseshoes

The Zaimür learn to transfer energy into objects.
With a simple ritual and sacrifices, virtually any item can be imbued with spirit power. Warriors may offer a shaman the materials needed, and the item of their choice to be blessed with certain magical properties, such as wind, to empower their weapons with speed and strength, or quicken and straighten their arrows in flight.

>>3504955
Although there appear to be little if any more statues to be found, attacks upon their people only ever seemed to be increasing lately.
The soldiers seeking a lair of beasts are unable to discover much of note besides some boulders only slightly out of place in the mountains. When night falls, they would hear a rumbling, and their eyes set upon the figures they had once seen in the distance as silhouettes, but now they receive a much clearer look.
The once slightly bit disturbing appearances of the stone figures they had been able to gaze upon in the day were now in the form of flesh, moving and breathing in a much more frightening visage.
These creatures stand far above every soldier, with thick fur covering most of their flesh, enlarged and brutish facial features are paired with large tusks, horns, or even more or less than two eyes. Their asymmetrical bodies lumber swiftly across the earth, each step louder and unsettling than the last.
The soldiers are beset on nearly all sides by numerous giants, being able to take seemingly any number of ranged weaponry besides a powerful spell or ballista bolt without faltering.

"The Dryad is a being of pure Nature. She is a direct descendant of Mother Nature and is in tune with the intrinsic nature of the world we live on. Think of her like a natural weather-vane. When all is well she flourishes, when things are not well, she withers. She can speak, although if you wish to speak with her you will need to travel to her Grove as she is quite literally rooted to the spot. It is through her that we know the Centaur have vast riches of gold and silver in their land as well as some of the most arable land in the East that they do not use because they would rather hunt the land barren before moving on to hunt its inhabitants. There is much wealth and land to be gained for the FHS in removing the Centaurs from their ill used territory. As for the greater threat, you did not believe us when we spoke of the coming HOrsemen. When we came and said a threat travels from East to West looking to consume you wrote it off. How many starved in your Free States as a result of failing to heed our warning? How many will die this time because you failed to heed it a second time. We are the Oracles of this world. We see aspects of its future, and all of the futures forward of this point are dark if we stand alone."

RETCONFLICT part 1

CENTAURS, TARNS, USKI READ THE ENTIRE PASSAGE
OCTOS READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH

>>3501031
As Tarnic ships sail east past a large beach to aid the Uski, more than half their vessels begin to gradually sail slower, and lower in the water. Crew venturing into the hold find they are taking in water from palm sized jagged holes in the hull. One member believes he say tentacles fleeing through a hole as he splashed into the brig. A drowned army is of no help to anyone, forcing the ships to turn back, allowing the slipstream in the strait to strand them on the Amazonian island, a little north of Heeyah. Then again, the only centauric vessels they had seen were small fishing boats, which were nonetheless sunk. (>>3501079) This cruelty could not be seen from centaur held shore, however, meaning no arrows were fired.
(>>3501282 a note not to dictate to other players)
>>3501308
When these fisher-taurs did not return, shamans were summoned to the plains coast, finding their way to the beach blocked by a high brick wall (>>3500818). No matter, from their vantage little could be seen but flotsam, and the body of a single minotaur. Enraged, the shamans called forth storm clouds on the southern sea, and cursed whoever sank these simple fisher-taurs.
>>3501803
Centaurs are finally pushed from the shared hill territories, as the marshes halted reinforcements. With no more contested land, work is soon put into a vast border wall, dotted with guard-posts to keep the 6 limbed menace out. Steeply overhanging crenulations caused ramp-building to be difficult, as well as providing cover from incoming fire. Still, there was a blood debt which had to be paid, and coastal raids became common, sailing along the shore and peppering the waterfront villages with whatever could be mustered. Alas, this came without Tarnic help, as any boats traversing the southern sea were being heavily damaged or even sunk by an aquatic adversary.
>>3501903
Shamans were once again sent to the coast as news of the raids reached them. They flung fire & lightning at these Uski raiders, which unfortunately did little as Talendra quickly extinguished any flame, and damaged boats could land behind their stone walls.
>>3501967 >>3502039 >>3502307
(Tarn & Centaur battles are retconned out.)
>>3503175
Tarnic improvements in ship-building, especially thicker hulls somehow allow enough ships to sail through the contested waters, some landing behind the Uskijoran wall, others sailing on to Argretyi. After this, a massive raid is planned against the coastal settlements, with Uski forces flooding through a hidden gate in the east wall. In this pincer attack farms are burned, and all are put to the sword, not even the young were spared. A vast swathe of grassland was cleared of the beastfolk, and was left smouldering.
>>
>>3509101
RETCONFLICT part 2

With the new boundaries drawn, and the Uskijoran bloodthirst for now quenched, raids from both parties dwindled and finally ceased. Over time the centaur may once again venture into the plains, but would do so warily.
Tarnic maps would be drawn up with warnings of dangerous creatures in the southern sea, forcing either a dangerous journey along a spidery river near the mountains, or a long journey around the continent.

FOR A MYRIAD OF REASONS, THE THREAT IN THE STORM WILL BE FROM THE SOUTH AND NOT THE EAST

>>3505130
Here with these men of iron her persuasion and glamour were difficult to maintain, as if the planes were somehow more distant in these lands.

Moji sat for a long time, simply staring at the Conduit in Ru, as if her gaze alone would cause... something. Ru began to grow around Moji, as she would take business here at the Conduit. Days turned to weeks, but still it would not give. Perhaps the Uskis were too different from the Awoos, their things were not our things. Moji turned this over in her head now.
At last she grew bored of this staring business, knowing now that the Awoos could do this on their own, as they had for sooo long already! But it could not be done in dribs and drabs, every Awoo must do their part. This would require a plan of action, who was to do what. Now came the hard part she realised.

Action 1: Through the use of different quantities of soot and yellowbrick, pastes of varying potencies and stability are created. Submerging the paste pots in water also seems to allow for stable transport, so double walled metal containers are built to keep the paste cooled under water. The pots work to reduce and contain any paste explosions, making mass production and transport of the paste feasible. An interesting property of the pots is noted: when an explosion happens(which they occasionally do), the pot emits a single gout of flame, rocketing the lid off. This will require more research.
>investigate paste
Action 2: The increased need for the gro-herb spurs development of the eastern mountains. The Pales, already well suited to the high altitudes of the mountain slopes, spearhead the colonization efforts. At the very eastern tip of the mountain range, where grey pebbly peaks steeply slope to meet the ocean, a natural harbor is found, the opening of a shallow, half submerged cave. In this hollow, a village forms, a stopping point for ships to pick up the raw plants for processing. The merchants call it Estcester.

>Couple changes to the topic of the meeting due to the retcon:
> Since the threat is coming from the south, the question is now how to protect Tarn, Uski, and Bennia from whatever’s coming
> I assume nobody has a problem with helping Bennia and I can hold myself for now, so the main point of contention is still whether Uskijorans deserve our help. If this isn’t true, feel free to speak up.
“I cannot speak for what the Uskijorans have seen or this “Dryad” of theirs, but I can vouch for their credibility about this southern threat. The strange four legged beasts and their riders brought the plague to our lands when they rode through. Similar beast-men have taken over the lands to the Uskijorans’ south. We have been helping repel them, but not without great losses. As for the new threat from the south, clouds of smoke have been sighted from the southern seas, the fish stocks there have decreased almost to the point of vanishing, and a feeling of deep foreboding sits over the area. The Uskijorans are beset upon from every side. I fear they may not be able to last through another calamity. They helped warn us of the last plague, and can help us further in the future. In turn, we ought to help them now.”
The People turn to the Uskijorans.
“I don’t...appreciate...your claims of being oracles or you holding the plague over our heads like this. I”-they pause for an instant before correcting themselves-“We all lost many to that plague, and I would advise you not to use it as a bargaining chip. That being said, you have helped us, and for that I am inclined to help you in return. But for those of us who are not so convinced,” they gesture at the FHS, “what can you provide to prove your goodwill?”

A few entrepreneurial young fellows taking a year or two working as deckhands on some Tarnish merchant ships come back with a plant they say is worth its weight in gold back in Tarnland. It needs thin air and humidity to grow properly(ie. mountain tile and 0-2 tiles away from water), but if grown, could bring great wealth to either country.

"You seem to imply any one of the Clan-Sah in the Daiimad would trust a non-human, Uski. Your people may believe the possible lies of some inhuman entity, but the Free Human State learned long ago never to trust such things, and the implication that your people have warned us of anything before this meeting is downright falsehood. We don't take lightly such things as your people might. Our gods told us of the calamity, and it was a natural thing, the disease caused of bad water in the form of the hail and the famine of poor harvests. Our people heeded our gods warnings and stockpiled things for our survival, and survive we did. Things could have been far worse then they were, and the fleeting idea that your people claim to have warned us is an INSULT to those who we could not save. You are no damn oracles, and we will NOT send our people to die in foreign wars where our logistics and supply lines could take months to establish." The man settled himself back into his chair. "We can provide material support, food, equipment, weapons, but we will not be sending our people to die. Not today."

"Your people just the Awoos, breed with them even, so you clearly do trust some non-humans." She shrugged her shoulders and spread her hands in a gesture of apathy. "I am not here to debate cultural or religious murmurings. The primary reason that I am here is to grant to you the warning that my Sisters have. Death comes from the South. It will kill and consume until it is sated, and the world will suffer for it. As before, we advise you to gird yourselves for conflict and for hardship. We, 'Uskis' as you so pejoratively called us, will be doing our part in the defense of this world by attempting to kill the threat before it moves further south. This warning is in the event that we are unsuccessful in doing so." She turned her attention from the FHS representative to that of the Tarns.

>>3509843
"We are oracles, Ishnii. We see with dual sight the two worlds of existence. This world is an illusion. It is the film of water between one's hands and the eye distorting everything. It is but a part of existence, a fragment of reality, and beyond this dream exists a worse reality. That is the reality that WE see. Time, futures, pasts, presents. Our time is short, and running low. The Uskijoran people do not have your wealth to offer, but we do have knowledge. With your permission we can conduct a test to look for those within your population that may have the Gift. We can find and train them to harness this second world and its enormous power. For those that doubt," she said, looking pointedly at the FHS representative, "I can show you what that power looks like."

The woman opened both her hands, palms faced toward the ceiling. Suddenly they burst with power, electricity crackling around her fingertips. The lightning formed into a ball, then into the shape of a centaur, galloping across her arms as if they were the eastern plains, before vanishing entirely in a shower of sparks. "Imagine," she began, fire blossomed from her hands, forming cranes that floated out over the assembled crowd before vanishing into smoke. "what wonders your civilizations could achieve should your people be able to harness this power. We could teach your people if they are capable of learning. We cannot think of a better way to 'sweeten the deal' as you put it."

"Awoo are half humans, just like the Ver. That should be obvious to any non-brain dead person." The Taiida representative mutters offhandedly.

The Uski would demonstrate it's magics, and a Belden would stare in wide eyed horror. "Witch! Burn it! Get the Varken in here!" The others look among eachother, and a Varken engineer Guardswoman runs into the room, Flame Sprayer in hand, but is shooed away by the rest of the FHS representatives. They seem interested, but aren't convinced. "A few magic tricks won't help solve the issues with commencing war across the world. We are already familiar with magics. The Free Human State remains in it's decision. We will not send men, but supplies are able to be offered. That is final."

For the past few months, the Caldathi sailors that went back and forth between the Awoo civilization to the east have noticed very disturbing things, land stripped of life at first, then strange creatures moving along the area. The last men to return tell of horrific monsters besieging the Awoo. The Daiimad, having received the reports from these men for the past few expeditions thought of a plan incase things went wrong, decides to make a show of force and goodwill by sending a fleet of Airships, both transport and combat, to the Awoo lands to evacuate as many as possible. With the northern winds favoring the travel, the fleet is sent.

The Varken scientists in the Apothecaries College have finally created a weapon that utilizes the black powder, well, 2. One of these is a large iron tube that is plugged from the back by a sort of cork, and loaded from the rear with a round stone or in some cases an Iron ball, and followed by powder. The back is then plugged, and a lit match-rope is placed at a hole above the powder, which ignites and propels the projectile at incredible speeds. It is called a Cannon. The other is a similar thing, with a sort of half-tube loaded by the muzzle. It functions similar to the cannon, as it is fired by exposing a hole above powder to a lit match. They are named Hand-Cannons.

The Awoo people at this point in history had become so much. Had advanced and expanded by major leagues, had become a somewhat respectable force that could actually be a threat to another nation if they brought their military might upon them.

This was a bit different, as air ships gleamed in the sky, as Awoos rowed and paddled as invaders settled on their coasts. Howls of alarm rang through as an assault began on the Awoo nation and yips and growls and howls filled the air.

Most of the next Awoo generation had grown up, were at least 14 or so and thus capable of strength, capable of some intelligent thinking. But most of all, Moji was unwilling to let her tribe die and falter, as unwilling to let the future of the Awoos be risked.

Was unwilling to see her people's blood shed in such massive quanitys.

Moji is moving to the South with the majority of her people. Along the vast rivers in hordes, hordes of thousands, with lizards and darts and canoes. They plan to enter the mountains and set up enclaves, walls and be a line of defence for their Uski allys.

Able to be supported, assisted and help fix the Historical problems of the Awoos in regards to Military command. Uski education, writing, technology, all could be connected much closer.

The future of the Awoo lay with their friends, as stalwart defenders.

((Moji is cutting her land losses and moving to an advantageous positon next to her ally's in a massive fucking Awoo horde of around perhaps 20/25k Awoos and is planning to be supported by the supplys they are bringing and their allys once they set up.

-The Final Retconflict-
Tarn's ships having passed through the protected sea of the Octopi unknowingly were met by sudden floodings in various ships hulls.
The fleet would be attacked unbeknownst to them, many ships damaged, others completely sank before they knew what was going on, but luckily able to for the most part escape via life boats or simply swimming to nearby vessels.
Either due to too many losses, or superstition, the fleet is forced to turn back, thankfully more than half of their ships were able to return safely, or needing heavy repairs.

On the land, the Uski and Centaur fight bitterly, centaur were able to be pushed back from the plains where the initial blood was spilled, both sides suffering heavily.
The centaur being not used to extended conflict were unable to keep up the fight and returned to more familiar grounds to rest. For now, they are content with the outcome.
The Uski are able to push back the centaur and expand while constructing defenses in hopes they do not return.

In Port Eveshaw, a strange sickness has taken hold of the population. Blood Fever is what the populace calls it, due to the general appearance of a fever, but eventually causing blood to seep from the victim's body through the eyes, ears, mouth, and so on, eventually leading to their pores excreting blood, followed by death.
Survivability is extremely low, and it is easily spread among humans.

A new tool makes its way into the hands of the centaur, needing an implement to defend against ranged attacks their new foe throw at them, the shield is created.
There are many shapes and styles but the vast majority are fairly simple and are designed to guard against projectiles.
Some have taken to adding modifications to these tools in the form of gaudy trophies, aligned outwards of the edge of the shield, acting simply to show off the warriors martial prowess, but also providing spiritual magic, and inadvertently providing an additional defensive bonus, as a bladed weapon such as an axe can strike the bone and become stuck in the blade with the bone breaking off of the shield.

>"If I wanted to tempt you I'd have made an offer. This was but a warning. Take it or leave it, I don't particularly care, just know that if you send scouts and there's nothing, you loose nothing. If you do nothing and I have told the truth, you loose everything."

Utilizing the intelligence of the Sevis, the two races work together to form new vessel for water faring.
Lumber is taken from the northern forests and swamps, and then used for the new designs.
These vessels come in various designs, using the wind to propel them slightly, but utilizing a large cargo hold to supply shamans with the resources to control the air and water to propel the ships further.
Ramps are often used on the bow to aid the centaur in boarding, and platforms to allow archers to defend against threats.

Late, late, so very late, should have been done *ages* ago. It'll have to do I suppose.

-------

Supplies? Well, that certainly could be arranged. Judging by what you carry now...

Food, *Meat*. Bone. And perhaps... something a bit more precious. You see, Mephie dear left you a fort, kind soul that she Is but she left me a *mine*. Iron. Steel. Gift wrapped and all, no fuss no muss, and I don't even know what to do with It all.

The thing rubs It's hands together, claws absentmindedly ripping open wounds from the gesture not made for such a body.

In return... well, you've certainly earned your keep, your castle but... I'd like to have a look around, If you don't mind. Now If you'd like to upgrade from bronze to Iron, that can be arranged at the low low price of a pair of hands!

Well, not so literally, but In a sense. You see, I've got some neighbors I've recently grown less fond of, and I was wondering If *their* abodes might Interest you as well! Of course, I wouldn't want you to risk your lives for such a thing, but If you'd like to tag along and reap the spoils of war I'd have no problem making sure you were well prepared for conflict...

What do you say? Interested In such a proposal?

The desperate centaur can not do much else but accept.
To deny and simply wait for scouts to discover prey to hunt would be foolish, even more so to abandon the fort they had sweat and bled for, only to starve in a risky attempt to migrate once more.

Centaur favor copper and bronze over iron, as it is far easier for them to forge, but if it can be made into implements for them, they can do the rest and would gladly accept it. The various designs of weapons used by the centaur would be given as samples for replication.

The centaur mainly desire a steady supply of food and the simple request of examining the fort and fighting seems more than fair to them.
