your Servos are very strong and can ably shift lots of things around. The standard MG is just a holdover we duct-taped on there so we could get IFV budget but it's not really that deadly.

Beneath the probes of Basil' shovel and Desserts massive maul swung by long-dead sinew, the walls first cracks then breaks with a oddly... slick... shudder of the rubble. Dust and grit fill the room as a shaft of light cuts through the darkness and we can breathe again. Excellent work, Field Team.

Basil spins around and brings a gun to bear on the Creature while Farrier steps in to investigate it. It bleeds a curious substance that flows erratically from its wounds - and the wounds are quite small. The skin has a chalky texture, and long drawn breaths rattle into deep lungs. The eyes of things thing are cracked opals set inside a feature swathed in canine violence.

Farrier and Basil and the rest have a look at the captured creature. We learn a few things, but much is still unknown. The deadly fangs will capture is in melee and if we try to escape, Claws that Catch will give a cruel swipe at our backs. The creature seems undeterred by gas and other hazards, but it is alive in a sense, so it will eventually suffer some. It is heinously strong.

But it is also... lacking a certain qualia.

Mammoth and Basil break away smooth stone and brings guns to bear just as Specialist Farrier twists around and screams as the teeth dig further into his arm. He unloads a full cylinder of explosive grenades and dust, grit, dirt, walls, stone dog and malicious jagged fragments fill the air. The blast-wave scours the local area.

Mammoth ducks the first spray of fragmentation but the next get him and the blast-wave is none too kind either. But that few bits could have been killing. Sheer speed save the day!

Under Sergeant Livon's gentle instruction, Trencher Basil takes aim - a cacophony of heavy grenades go off and the explosions rips through the outer shielding of the beast. Wracked by Pilot Satch's foam barrage and the electro-currents they conduct, the creature cannot reform its shielding quite in time.

Basil squeezes the trigger.
The system gives a gentle kick --- woosh.

Murderous fragments fill the air, pinging off armor - Livon and Basil both take fragments that dig into their flesh, one final insult. And the beast is still.

Operative Alacrity spins through a wall and emerges from another in --- best not think about that -- and a red robed ruffian waves his hands through a series of badly translated iconography. He sees Alacrity just as they fire off an overwatched shot, but the bullet intersects with a pulsating, glowing alien thing and veers off to the side. Physics itself has been gently undone in this place.

Martin dives for cover, and spits a curse! Arranged around him in a ring, each facing the Star at the Heart of Iram, is the heads of guides and missing locals. They watch, unblinking, and each bear a gentle smile.

we were sent in to investigate a disturbance. Buildings appear to flicker in or out of existence.

Sergeant Livon and the field team have since found out why - it appears that this place is one small fragment of Iram, the City of Pillars, where in the long ago, scholars plucked a star from the sky. That fragment imbued the city with life but twisted it to its own intent.

Now the city is growing, walls are sprouting from the old ground, and it appears to have something to do with that Red Robed Ruffian named Martin that Operative Alacrity is pointing a gun at.

Our job is to rescue the civilians and shut this thing down before it grows too voracious.

Operative Alacrity fires at the wall but there is no ricochet, no sound of impact - nothing. Martin lets out a wail and the green pulsating light brightens!

Operative Mammoth crashes through the wall, salt in hand, and throws it. The room, already cramped with intention, fill with dusty particles as a Normalizer Grenade goes off but the Heart of the City, The Star Itself, is the source of the flow of the power that animates this fragment of Iram and will not be abraded by the mundanity of the world.

Alacrity kicks a few skulls aside and scoops up the others within reach just as Dessert wanders over to one that looks oddly congruent with the ragged tears that mar stump neck. It bends down. Bright green lights flare in the cranium as its hands connect, and Tatsuo feels a joyous blowback across the connection of master and slave.

Basil cuts away the growing mass and it does seem as if unconnected, lone tendrils grow INERT.

Scrynovo attempts to bargain favour with absence itself and the void on the other side - but Jerg punching through the wall, carrying one bedraggled norwegian student into the light, grasping for air, means the rush of oxygen that destroys the growing vacuum on the other side is Not An Absence. Scrynovo is hit with a spike of malign displeasure!

Field Team, excellent work. We need to work on your proclivity towards friendly fire, but that was fine field work and excellent adaption to a rapidly escalating situation. I'm proud of you and I'm glad you mostly got out alive.
