/qst/ - Quests

In this quest you play as Wade Wakeman, a 16 year old boy with a heart of gold and the wielder of the Omnitrix. This story is being told in an alternate universe, in which there are no longer any remaining Tennysons. Characters from earlier seasons will appear, but not always in a way that you’d expect.

Archive:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Ben+10+Quest

Last time: Wade received a mission from the Galactic Council, and is partnered up with an alien named Kilik to resolve a conflict. However, he received evidence that suggests that there is a traitor hiding amongst the Plumbers.

Rules:
Most dice rolls will be 1d100. Modifiers will be added depending on the situation or on the alien being used. Crit successes and crit fails apply.

To roll dice, type “dice+1d100” in the options field without the quotations.

You draw closer to the two Anodites in order to eavesdrop on their conversation. They don’t seem to notice you amidst the cosmic storm

[Sunny]: Forget about these flesh-bags. We need to get out of here, Grandma!

Hmm? Sunny sounds scared. You didn’t think Anodite’s were scared of anything.

[Verdona]: Now Sunny, I’m not so cruel as to leave my friends to a fate of eternal damnation.

Verdona places her hands on her hips and calmly chastises her granddaughter.

[Sunny]: Who cares! If Devaedra finds us, she’ll eat us and digest us for thousands of years!

[Verdona]: “If” she finds us. There’s more than one way to avoid an Omnivore, you know. Your parents should have taught you all you need to know in order to survive an encounter with one.

As you creep closer, they turn their heads in your direction and stop talking.

[Wade]: Am I interrupting something?

[Sunny]: Yes, you were actually.

Verdona interrupts Sunny by raising a hand to her mouth. Sunny complies with a scowl.

[Verdona]: No, it’s actually convenient that you’ve come here. We have much to talk about.

You notice that the storm is calming down now that they've stopped arguing.

[Wade]: So did you guys cause this storm, or was it just a coincidence?

Verdona looks a bit embarrassed as she places her hands behind her back.

[Verdona]: Sorry, that was us. When our emotions run rampant we-

[Sunny]: We tend to fuck shit up!

Verdona gives Sunny a stern glare that causes her to shrink back. You think she quite literally shrunk a bit out of fear.

[Verdona]: Language, my dear.

Wade]: I thought Anodite's were some of the strongest beings in the galaxy. What's got you guys so scared?

Sunny and Verdona look to each other and back to you with downcast expressions.

[Verdona]: It is true that our race is mighty, but that might does not go uncontested. Long ago, we were at war with a race of creatures that fed on mana as easily and thoughtlessly as you humans breathe air. They were called the "Omnivores", and they are some of the most fearsome creatures that we've ever faced. They tried to enslave us and treat us like cattle-

[Sunny]: But we trounced them and sealed them into an eternal slumber that'll last a couple more centuries.

[Wade]: And one of them woke up.

[Verdona]: Not just one of them. Devaedra, the queen of the Omnivores has awoken. She must be very angry right now.

[Sunny]: And hungry. I wonder what woke her up. That seal should've lasted a lot longer than it did.

[Wade]: So, what do we do?

[Verdona]: You will not be doing anything. Devaedra is a powerful monster that will eat you alive, no matter the transformation you choose. If we do not lead her away from your galaxy, then she will surely come to your Earth in search of food.

>"You're using yourselves as bait?!"
>"There's no way I'm sitting this one out. You're my friend, and I won't let you get eaten by some big, fat magic glutton."
>"Do these guys have any weaknesses?"
>"Can we put her back to sleep somehow?"

[Wade]: Do these guys have any weaknesses?

[Verdona]: They get very tired when they gorge themselves, but their recovery time is still quite impressive. The window of opportunity for us to eliminate them is very small.

[Wade]: Well, what if we put her to back to sleep?

[Sunny]: Wish we thought of that.

Sunny mocks you in a sarcastic tone.

[Verdona]: That would require an incredible amount of energy. Devaedra is very capable when it comes to eating.

[Sunny]: Yeah. From what I heard, that lady could really put it away.

[Wade]: Why don't we gather up the rest of the Anodites and take her down? You guys have done it before in the past.

[Verdona]: Easier said than done, kiddo. Anodites aren't very easy to persuade.

[Sunny]: We do what we want, when we want, and we don't do anything we don't wanna do. And we definitely don't wanna take on an Omnivore!

[Wade]: So we're on our own?

[Verdona]: I'm afraid so. It should take a while for her to regain her strength, so we will be preparing for the worst in the meantime. Until we meet again, Wade.

[Sunny]: Tell the family I said hi.

Sunny places her finger on your forehead and sends you flying back to your body. The shock is so great that you fall off your bed like a clumsy oaf.

[Wade]: I'll have to call her back later...

It seems like these galactic threats are piling up one after another. How did the universe survive without you around in the first place? You pick yourself up and walk back to the co-pilot's seat next to Kilik.

[Wade]: Are we there yet?

[Kilik]: Yes. Welcome to Aggra Taj: The driest planet in the galaxy.

You approach a light brown planet sandwiched between 2 suns. It appears to be a massive, arid desert with little to no plant-life or bodies of water.

[Wade]: Ugh! I'm gonna boil alive in this suit when I get down there.

You open up your watch and switch to Wildfire before slamming down on the Omnitrix's core. In a bright purple flash, your body transforms into that of WILDFIRE! You really should think of upgrading your suit to deal with different weather conditions. maybe Grey Matter or Upgrade can help you with that.

[Wade]: At least now I won't die of heatstroke.

[Kilik]: Not immediately.

You descend upon the desert planet and park The Cicada in the middle of an alien bazaar. This city looks like a big marketplace of some sort. Little men in purple robes crowd around the ship and speak in squeaky voices. Kilik disperses the miniature crowd with his swarm and continues walking into the bazaar.

[Wade]: Were those like parking valet?

[Kilik]: No. They were beggars. Keep a close eye on your Taydens in places like this. Marketplaces are filled with cutthroats and criminals.

[Wade]: That pretty much fits the description of every place we've been to before this one.

[Kilik]: It's a common pattern in our line of work. Come with me and don't wander off.

Kilik leads you through the crowd, while you observe the aliens and the services they offer. You can't read most of these signs, so you'll stick to observing for now. You notice that one of the stands is being used to sell weapons and armor. While another one is selling alien food of some sort. Your stomach starts grumbling at the sight of such foreign cuisine.

>"So this guy we're looking for, why's he hanging around a place like this if he can make robots for rich people?"

You entertain the thought of grabbing a quick bite to eat, but you need to show Kilik that you can be professional. There will be time for food and shopping later on.

[Wade]: So this guy we're looking for, why's he hanging around a place like this if he can make robots for rich people?

[Kilik]: It's not hard to find business on Aggra Taj. Aliens from all over the galaxy congregate here to do business. He's better off staying here instead of a proper space station.

[Wade]: Right. If you say so.

Your petroleum slicked fur brushes against the cloak of a noble, leaving a visible mark. That'll probably rub right out.

After about 8 minutes, you manage to locate the shop that you found on The Cicada's database. It looks more like a mud-hut than a place of business.

[Kilik]: This must be the place.

As soon as you enter tiny hut, you're whacked in the face with a straw broom. The culprit is a tiny green, toad-like alien wearing goggles.

[Pakmar]: Shoo shoo! Go away! Pakmar's place is not a place for Eczemian troublemakers. You'll burn down Pakmar's shop!

[Pakmar]: Aha! I knew you were up to no good! Out! Out!

Pakmar continues to swat at you as if you were any other mangy cat.

[Wade]: You're getting a less than stellar review on your website, buddy.

Pakmar tries to swing at you once more, but a short old man with red skin snatches the broom away from him. He has white hair that's pointed upwards like a troll doll, and a full beard that reaches down to his knees.

[Qarma]: Please excuse my friend for his rudeness. Pakmar is quick to anger and slow to forgive.

The old red guy is much more well mannered and docile. He also has a thick Indian accent that makes him seem even more pleasant to you for some reason.

[Pakmar]: That's where you're wrong! Pakmar never forgives! Anyone!

Pakmar's squeaky, yet hoarse, voice is a bit grating to your sensitive ears.

[Qarma]: Of course. How foolish of me to forget. And how rude of me to forget to introduce myself. My name is Qarma. How may I help you?

Kilik shows him the robot that you procured earlier.

[Kilik]: We've been led to believe that you created this drone. The insignia on the motherboard matches the sign in front of your shop.

Qarma takes the robot from Kilik with shaky hands, and inspects it with a magnifying glass.

[Qarma]: Ah! I do remember working with this beauty. It was my finest creation in my entire career as a craftsman.

[Kilik]: Can you tell us who ordered it?

[Qarma]: I'm sorry, but our customers have a confidentiality agreement with us. We cannot just-

Kilik flashes his badge and you tap on the Omnitrix symbol stuck to your chest. Qarma's eyes go wide as he inspects your credentials.

[Qarma]: Well...if it's for the Plumbers, I guess there's no harm in telling you. The one who ordered the drone to be made was-

Suddenly, a cloaked figure with a scarf wrapped around their head crashes through the window and brandishes two scimitars.

[Pakmar]: Aha! I knew you were up to no good! You and your accomplice are trying to rob Pakmar blind!

[Wade]: This is totally unrelated! Probably...

[Wade]: Hey Kilik, is this one of those cuttroats you were talking about?

You leap towards the intruder and attempt to deliver a mid-air rolling kick down onto their neck, but they dodge your attack and follow up with a kick of their own in the same fluid motion. You twist your body just in time to avoid the kick, so that it only grazes your side. The assassin brandishes their swords once more and slashes at you wildly in a blur of glistening steel. You don't know who this guy is, but they're obviously skilled from the way they fight. You're gonna have to be careful here,

[Kilik]: Yes. But I did not quite expect this development.

You trade blows with the hostile stranger, deftly avoiding each swipe of their blades. You're caught in a stalemate, until you realize that your right foot is nearly touching hers, and a crazy idea pops into your head. You swing your leg into the air, performing a back-flip and sweeping the stranger into the air by hooking their leg with your own. They flail wildly, unable to adapt to your unorthodox maneuver. Before they even have a chance to recover in mid-air, you position yourself behind them and deliver a jumping roundhouse kick straight to their gut, sending them flying outside of Pakmar's shop.

[Pakmar]: Pakmar's window!

[Wade]: Yeah yeah! I know!

You jump outside to follow the hostile stranger and find their garments lying down on the ground. You walk over to pick it up, memorizing the scent so you might be able to track them. Suddenly, a shadow below you begins to grow larger and larger. Something's above you!

>Toss that garment to the sky and roll away from your position.
>Flare up and create a pillar of fire directly above yourself.
>Jump up, redirect their momentum and fling them to the ground.
>Kick up some sand and use your flame propelled hands to escape from harm.

No time to think! You flare up by gnashing your teeth together, concentrating the flames around you, and casing a massive pillar of flame to erupt above you. The intense flames engulf the assassin, but the updraft isn't nearly powerful enough to push them away from you.

They continue to fall towards you, and you feel a sharp pain in your back that causes you to stagger backward. You reach around to you back, only to feel something slick and oily running down your spine. Looks like that last attack created a massive gash in your back. You stare at your bloodied hand in disbelief. Never knew it was orange. What a strange color. You're losing a lot of blood fast. It's a good thing your wounds cauterize themselves fairly quickly.

The assassin shakily stands before you once more, their lizard-like scales burned white, and their clothes singed and clinging to their exposed flesh. One of their arms is badly burned, causing them to drop one of their swords. You're both badly injured, but you can still fight. Hopefully, you can close this out before your watch times out.

The assassin makes the first move by running towards you while dragging their sword along the sand.

>Melt their sword before they have a chance to use it against you.
>Use your flames to propel yourself, maneuver behind them and blast them in the back.
>Put everything you've got into making a molten eruption in the sand.
>Kick some sand in their eyes and deliver a swift kick their chin.
>Wait patiently for them to swing their sword, catch it and hit them with a fire blast while they're unprotected.

>1!

The both of you may be injured, but you can still take this guy down! You just need to be patient and wait for them to swing.

Not yet...

Almost...

Now!

You reach up to grab the sword, but they anticipated that you would try to do that. As they bring the sword up to swing it downward, a bit of sand was kicked up and got into your eyes. You nearly lose your balance as you try to adjust to your loss of vision. You try to rely on your senses to catch the blade, but you merely swat at the wind. Your arm feels kinda numb. And there's something warm running down your side. Something's wrong.

You're snapped out of your adrenaline rush upon hearing your Omnitrix time out. Then the waves of pain roll over you like an avalanche. Your legs buckle under the strain of your heavy body, and your warm blood stains the sand as you try to clamber to your feet. You look up at your attacker and see that they stand over your feeble body, wracked with pain. The last thing you see, is them turning their blade so that the pommel faces you, and bashing you in the face with it. Then...everything goes black.

---------------------------------

The first thing that you sense is the burning of incense. It's a pungent odor, similar to firewood, though not entirely unpleasant. Then, you feel the leather half-mask tightly wrapped around your mouth. It's really hard to breathe with this thing on, let alone speak. As you open your eyes, you notice that there's someone walking on the ceiling. No wait. That's not right. The aching feeling in your ankles tells you otherwise.

The blood has rushed to your head from being strung upside-down for so long. This place looks like a musty old dungeon that you'd see in a fantasy setting. There's still sunlight leaking through the wooden planks on the ceiling, so it's still daytime. But how'd you even get here? How much time has passed? Wasn't Kilik with you? Why couldn't he save you from this lunatic? How'd you lose so miserably back there?

That's when it hits you. A wave of pain rolls over you once more, reminding you of the cost of defeat. You look over to your arm, scared to check whether you lost it or not. But miraculously, it's still there! You've got a wicked scar, and some weird purple goop covering the wound, but it's still there! Why would that crazy lizard treat you after attacking you? Maybe they're a bounty hunter trying to take you back alive? You can't stop your mind from going into overdrive at such a dire time.

Oh shit. Gotta save the questions for later. They're coming back for you! The clacking of their heels cause your aching head to pound furiously. This guy really did a number on you.

>Pretend to be unconscious.
>Scream for help. Maybe someone around here can help you.

You're getting this mask off ASAP. But it's gonna be kinda difficult to persuade this guy to take off your mask. What's the plan?

>Pretend that you're having trouble breathing. They probably needs you alive, or else you wouldn't be here right now.
>Pretend that you're communicating with someone over a radio. They'll take the mask off if they think you have valuable information.

You keep your eyes closed and pretend that you're having trouble breathing through the mask. You can hear them kneeling down to inspect you, and you can feel their breath when they draw closer to you. You really hope this works...

Suddenly, you feel the assassin fiddling with the mask and checking to see if it was put on correctly. They stop touching it every couple of seconds to gauge your reaction and breathing rhythm. Eventually, the mask is taken off altogether for further inspection. You hear them walking away and placing the mask on a nearby table.

Sweet! It worked! Now to get out of these chains...

[Wade]: Surprise me, Trixy!

[Trixy]: With pleasure, Wade.

The reptilian assassin quickly turn towards and attempts to stop the transformation, but it's too late. With a snap of your fingers, a purple light floods the room and blinds you both. You feel your arms growing slimmer, and your skin is being covered by a strange metal material of some sort.

When you open your eyes, you see that you no longer have legs. Instead, you're hovering above the ground on some strange device. It's like you're wearing some weird sci-fi suit of armor.

[???]: I sssee. I was not anticipating you to have such great control over the Omnitrix. I will have to take that into account asss I dismember you!

The reptilian creature leaps at you with one sword in hand. Their other arm is still recovering from the burn.

[Wade]: Hold up! I'm still getting used to this guy!

Your voice is metallic and electronically modulated. It doesn't even feel like it's yours anymore. You put a hand in front of you to defend yourself, and several purple orbs rush to your side. Within their shiny surface, you examne your outward appearance. You kinda look a lot like "The Flatwoods Monster"! Diamond shaped head and all! Guess that one isn't a cryptid. What a fascinating discovery! Zak's gonna freak!

[Wade]: Whoa! What do these do?

You have no idea what to do, but you think you know how these orbs work for some reason. With a wave of your hand, the orbs drops to the ground and plant themselves deep into the cobblestone. From the gaps and cracks that form in the broken ground, you release a stream of vapor from your hands that trickle down into the soil and permeate the room. The assassin stops just short of cutting you in half when they notice the violent rumbling sensation below their feet.

Powerful updrafts of steam and vapor erupt from the ground, surrounding the both of you with each passing second. The assassin is panicking, trying to find a way out, but not you. You know exactly what's going on here.

A great, geyser erupts from beneath the assassin, scalding them with hot vapor and pushing them through the ceiling. The eruption is so powerful, the sheer force of it takes the roof off and splits the building apart.

A cyclone forms under your feet and propels you upward and out of the dungeon with surprising speed. You see your androgynous assailant plummeting to the earth, and you're tempted to let them drop as revenge for what they did to you. But, you're not that kind of person.

You break the bounty hunter's fall with a dust devil whipped up from the burning sands on the desert floor. Looks like they'll be out cold for a while. You should make your way back to Kilik and Qarma. But first, you need to collect your stuff.

You descend back into the depths of the dank dungeon, and collect your possessions from a chipped wooden box. Unfortunately, your costume didn't survive the struggle. The coat and shirt are torn to shit, and the mask was ripped up a bit. Dammit! You're gonna need a new suit...

[Trixy]: Wade, you have a pending message from Special Agent Kilik.

[Wade]: Patch him through.

A bit of static is heard from your Omnitrix, before the signal clears up a bit and you hear Kilik clicking his mandibles together.

[Kilik]: X? Are you alright?

>"Yeah, I'm fine. I beat the guy that captured me too. Where are you?"
>"A little banged up, but I'll live. And you?"
>"What was that back there?! How'd you let me get captured?"

[Wade]: Yeah, I'm fine. I beat the bad guy, got a new alien, and my suit got wrecked in the process. Where are you?

[Kilik]: I'm sending my location to you now. Proceed with caution.

[Wade]: Why, what's going on?

[Kilik]: This whole town is gunning for us, because someone posted your bounty and raised the reward. Every two-bit crook and bounty hunter on Aggra Taj will be after us now. I believe it is due to the information that Qarma had for us.

[Wade]: So he does know something.

[Kilik]: Yes, but I will not tell you over Plumber communications. Too risky. Head to the location I sent to you. Kilik out.

Before you can say anything else, he hangs up on you. You gather your things and proceed to the location that was pinpointed on your GPS, being careful not to get caught by cloaking yourself in a mist that refracts and reflects light. Once you reach the abandoned house that Kilik lead you to, you notice that there are a few unsavory aliens skulking around the premises.

Also, did you guys want to name the new alien? I defaulted his name to "Fourcast" because he has the 4 orbs that orbit around him, but I'm open to hearing better ideas if you've got them.

(Fourcast it is!)

You stretch your hand out and create a whirlwind that obliterates a pile of crates nearby. The criminals notice this loud noise and move to investigate it, giving you the time you need to slip inside of the building undetected.

As you float around the dimly lit room, you can really tell that the inspired culture is based heavily on India's. There are subtle differences, however. It's so strange how your planet shares cultures with aliens that you've never even met before.

[Kilik]: Psst. Over here.

You turn towards the faint whisper and see Kilik hiding behind a carpet draped over a gaping hole in the wall. He motions for you to follow him, and the both of you proceed down into the dark chamber. Your natural bio-luminescence makes it fairly easy to see in this dark tunnel, but your wide bottom half is having trouble fitting all the way through.

[Wade]: hold on! Almost got it!

You struggle to fit through the narrow passageway. Making loud grinding noises from the rocks scraping on your metal exterior.

[Kilik]: Just time out!

[Wade]: Fine. Give me a sec!

You take out your mask and awkwardly place it over your large, diamond shaped head before timing out. Once the bright flash fades, you're left standing shirtless with a torn mask that exposes parts of your face. But not enough to expose your identity. Kilik observes your improvised costume with a curious look.

[Wade]: What?! I told you my suit got wrecked!

[Kilik]: I said nothing. Come on.

You follow him through a small opening in the cave and crawl the rest of the way, until you reach a spacious area where Qarma and Pakmar wait nervously.

[Qarma]: Glad to see you are unharmed my friend.

[Pakmar]: Who's this guy?

[Qarma]: He is the Eczemite you thoroughly thrashed with a broom earlier.

[Pakmar]: Oh! Pakmar remembers you! You are the one who wrecked Pakmar's place!

Kilik hands you his cloak so you can cover up your chest.

>"Thanks. I'm gonna need a new wardrobe."
>"So Qarma, you said that you had something to tell us?"
>"Pakmar, that probably would've happened whether we were there or not."

[Wade]: Thanks. I'm gonna need a new wardrobe.

You stretch your arm a bit and shudder from a jolt of pain that shoots up your shoulder. You're just now realizing how stiff and sore your arm is. It's as if that lizard guy just glued and stapled your arm back together. You might need to get it checked out once this is all over.

[Kilik]: I'm sure there are more than enough clothing stores that you can pick from.

[Wade]: But I don't have any money. And there's also the trigger happy aliens after our asses.

[Kilik]: I never said you had to pay for them. Consider it as a "Necessary Confiscation for Plumber Operations".

[Pakmar]: Excuse Pakmar, but...HOW ARE WE GETTING OUT OF THIS FILTHY CAVERN?!

His shrill screams echo loudly throughout the cave. He's annoying, but he's got a point.

[Wade]: How are we getting out of here?

[Kilik]: I was hoping you could tell me. We're running out of time, options and oxygen.

[Wade]: We should dig deeper into the cave and see what we can find.

Kilik appears to be confused by your declaration, as he tilts his head to the side without breaking eye contact.

[Kilik]: I do not understand the merit in that plan. We are not at all familiar with the geography of this planet, let alone the structure of the underground catacombs and caves.

[Wade]: Come on, Kilik! Where's your sense of adventure? We might end up finding some buried treasure or a secret passageway down here.

[Kilik]: Well...I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try something unorthodox.

[Wade]: That’s the spirit! It’s Spelunking Time!

You open up your watch, select XLR8 and slam down on your Omnitrix. A bright light envelops you and...ah dammit!

You open your eyes to see that you’ve transformed into Snapdragon instead. You knew something felt wrong about that transformation. Wel...this’ll have to do.

You dig your tendrils and roots deep into the cave walls, and proceed to remove them carefully as to avoid a cave-in. You send some more roots to the ceiling and surrounding walls in order to act as support beams. Even Slate and Kilik jump in to help you create a mine-shaft.

Eventually, your roots sense a spacious air-pocket below you. You notify everyone of your discovery and continue digging in that direction. Once you’ve created an opening large enough to to fit your body through, you look to find a glorious treasure room with glittering gems and gold coins abound. You see fine garments, jeweled weaponry and treasure chests overflowing with riches!

[Qarma]: I-I don’t believe my eyes!

[Pakmar]: Pakmar does! Pakmar’s vision never fails him. Precious treasure!

Pakmar leaps straight for the pile of gold coins, but you manage to catch him before he reaches the bottom.

[Wade]: Careful, little fella. That worked for Scrooge McDuck, but I don’t think you’d be able to pull it off.

[Pakmar]: Let go!

You create a bridge from your roots that lead down into the treasure room, before letting Pakmar drop to the ground.

[Kilik]: This is...amazing! How did such a place go undiscovered for so long?

[Qarma]: The sands of Aggra Taj are constantly shifting, dragging lost structures along with them. This creates dungeons and caverns that can change at a moment’s notice.

[Wade]: Man. That sounds really rad…

There’s a lot of eye-catching treasure in here. Which do you investigate first.

>A beautiful red scarf.
>A suit of form-fitting body armor. You bet it’d look amazing on you.
>These chests full of gold and gems!

Out of every treasure and trinket in this room, you are somehow drawn to the golden lamp in the center of the room. You’ve watched enough cartoons to know where this is going. The big question is: “Will it actually work?”

You walk over to pick up the lamp, and rub it gently with the palm of your hand, wiping dust and dirt from its smooth surface. Suddenly, the lamp starts to shake and jump around uncontrollably. You try to drop it onto the ground, but it jumps out of your hands and engulfs the room in a cloud of blue smoke.

When the smoke clears, you see a beautiful woman with blue skin hovering above the ground. Her physical features are stunning, but you’re more caught off guard by how huge she is. Her head is nearly touching the ceiling of this massive treasure room! You also notice that she does not possess a pair of legs. The lower part of her body fades into a stream of mist that seems to be connected to the lamp.

[???]: You have freed me, mortal! How can I ever repay you?

She gets much closer to you, allowing you to realize that you barely make up the size of her eyeball with your enlarged frame. It’s just a bit intimidating.

The genie notices your surprise and backs away from you, before erupting into a hearty laugh that shakes the very foundations of the cave.

[Olumar]: Where are my manners? My name is Olumar, and I apologize for my rash behavior earlier. It’s just been so long since I’ve been freed from that lamp! Allow me to repay you by-

>”Giving me 3 wishes? Yes please!”
>”Nah, it’s fine. We were just leaving actually.”
>”You don’t have to do that. Enjoy your freedom.”

[Wade]: Are you really a genie? Like magic and all?

Your interruption throws her off a bit, so she clears her throat and leans closer again.

[Olumar]: Come again?

[Wade]: I'm just a bit skeptical on the whole “magic lamp” thing. Seems kinda played out.

Olumar seems a bit annoyed by your question.

[Olumar]: First of all, the term is “Djinn”. Not “Genie”. Second…

She leans even closer.

[Olumar]: You dare to question my power?

[Wade]: Not your power. Just your existence.

Olumar leans back in surprise.

[Wade]: That came out wrong. I'm just surprised to see a real Djinn in the flesh.

[Olumar]: I see. Then I shall let your transgression pass. Now on to what I was-

[Wade]: Does all the treasure in this room belong to you?

Olumar stops her long winded introduction once more to consider your question.

[Olumar]: Er...I suppose. No one has entered this room in centuries to claim it, so I have not bothered to dispute the matter. If you wish to take of my riches, help yourselves.

[Pakmar]: Ooh! Pakmar likes the big cloud woman.

Pakmar tries to dive back into the gold pile, but it plucked away from it by Olumar herself.

[Olumar]: You can help yourself...if you agree to play a little game with me.

[Qarma]: What kind of game is it?

[Olumar]: Oh, just a simple guessing game. I need to do something to stave off the boredom of being trapped down here for centuries on end.

The way she's laughing makes you feel uneasy.

[Kilik]: I don't like the sound of this.

Will you play with her?

>”Sure we'll play. What are the rules?”

[Wade]: You know, if you're looking to stave off boredom, you can always come with me. My life's been pretty exciting lately!

Olumar's eyes go wide as she stops to consider your kind invitation.

[Olumar]: No one has ever offered to grant a wish of mine. Fine then. Tell me about yourself. What makes you worthy of being my escort?

[Wade]: Well, I can't do that right now. There are some parts of my past that will reveal too much about my identity. But what I can tell you, is that I get into life-or-death situations every single day without fail. I'm pretty sure you won't be getting bored anytime soon.

[Olumar]: Really now?

Olumar examines you as if you were a piece of meat, looking you up and down. Her words now sultry in nature, causing you to feel uncomfortable.

[Wade]: By the way, this is a completely platonic relationship we'd have!

[Olumar]: Oh? Does my form not please you?

[Wade]: No...that's not it.

[Olumar]: Then perhaps you are too shy? Or maybe you are a Eunuch? I can fix that you know.

[Wade]: No! I have a girlfriend!

[Olumar]: Oh, that's it? I thought it was something far more juicy. I do not mind being a mistress.

[Wade]: The answer's no and we're ending this topic now!

[Olumar]: Oh fine. You're no fun...

She's having way too much fun teasing you.

[Wade]: So what do you say? Do we have a deal?

[Olumar]: I shall consider your offer. But first, let us continue with the game.

[Wade]: Sure, what are the rules?

[Olumar]: Haha! Delightful! I will ask a question, and you all will try to guess what I am thinking of. You are each allowed 1 hint, so use them wisely. And each person is only allowed one answer, and each incorrect answer pushes the time limit back even further.

[Wade]: Sounds easy enough.

[Olumar]: Oh, and one more thing.

Olumar punches the ceiling, causing great amounts of sand to flood into the room and swallow up your feet.

[Olumar]: You have until this room fills with sand to answer my question. Good luck~~!

[Kilik]: I knew there was going to be a catch!

[Pakmar]: Help! Pakmar cannot swim!

[Qarma]: Good heavens!

[Wade]: Quick! What's your question?!

You better leave this up to the smartest alien you've got!

[Wade]: Killik, don't let me drown!

[Kilik]: I do not understand.

[Wade]: You will.

You select Grey Matter and slap your hand onto the Omnitrix core, confirming your decision. You feel yourself shrinking considerably, and the sand that was once beneath you now feels like a bottomless ocean. It almost feels like you're going to get swept away, but Kilik reaches down to snatch you up just in time. It's too bad you got a bunch of sand in your mouth though.

[Pakmar]: Ooh, I've got it! It is the lamp!

[Olumar]: Hmm, not quite.

Olumar punches another whole into the ceiling, accelerating the process.

[Wade]: Pakmar!

[Qarma]: Is it our minds?

[Wade]: No stop!

[Olumar]: Wrong again~~.

Olumar punches another gaping hole in the ceiling, filling up the room halfway.

[Kilik]: I wish to use my hint.

[Olumar]: Go right ahead.

[Kilik]: Is it something we already possess?

[Olumar]: Yes. Everyone except me possesses it.

[Wade]: I wanna use my hint too!

[Olumar]: I'm listening...

[Wade]: Is it something tangible?

[Olumar]: Hmm. Sometimes it is. But in this situation, it isn't.

[Wade]: Then that's all I needed to know. It's "Our Freedom".

Olumar erupts into thunderous laughter that threatens to break the ceiling even more.

[Olumar]: Very good! I knew I liked you for a reason.

Olumar reaches deep down into the sand, grabs Slate and brings him to her face. As Slate opens his mouth in delight, a torrent of sand pours out from his mouth.

[Olumar]: Be a dear and grab my things, will you?

She dunks him back down, brings him up and finds her lamp in his mouth.

[Olumar]: Thank you kindly.

The giant genie grabs you all and punches a massive hole in the ceiling, causing a downpour of sand to rain down upon your heads.

[Olumar]: Hold your breath, kids.

Olumar flies directly upward with surprising speed, freeing you all from your dusty deathtrap. She climbs out of the sinkhole you've all created and you feel the twin suns beating down upon your head. You never thought you'd be happy to feel this intense heat.

[Olumar]: Enjoy your freedom.

The giantess sets you all down safely, but drops Slate in the sand as if he were just another rock. His feet kick in the air as he lays buried face down in the sand.

[Wade]: Sorry about the treasure room. Any chance we can go back down there for that treasure?

[Olumar]: Sorry, but that prison of mine is likely sinking deep down into the sand current. We won't see it again for another hundred years or so. And good riddance too. I was getting quite sick of the place.

[Pakmar]: What?! Pakmar will not receive any treasure? What can Pakmar buy with freedom? Nothing!

[Qarma]: Be quiet you fool! She might decide to place you back down there.

[Wade]: So, about that offer...

Olumar giggles and places a hand to her lips.

[Olumar]: Very well. You seem amusing enough. You may take me along with you on your journey. And in return for this great mercy, I will assist you whenever it is possible for me to do so.

Kilik turns to see a group of aliens running towards you with rifles in tow.

[Kilik]: We should leave.

[Wade]: Now would be a nice time to repay that favor.

[Olumar]: Oh I'd love to darling, but it seems as though I over-exerted myself earlier. Be a dear and carry me to safety?

Olumar yawns loudly and shrinks back into her lamp.

>Olumar has joined you on your journey!(Kinda)

You time out and start running towards Kilik's ship with the others. The bay doors open up, and board the ship while narrowly avoiding blaster fire. The Cicada hovers above the ground and slowly ascends towards the sky. Once you make it out of orbit, you all breathe a sigh of relief.

[Wade]: Well that's one life-threatening situation dealt with. Where to next?

[Kilik]: The Fringes. It exists on the Outer Rim of the galaxy.

[Wade]: That's the place we read about earlier, right? Did you find out what it is?

[Kilik]: On the surface, it's bank that inflate's it's own customer percentage and ruins your credit. But underneath the grimy exterior, it's a money laundering firm for criminals. This bank was used to transfer the necessary amount of Taydens to pay for the drone to be built.

[Qarma]: It is true. I investigated the matter, as I am opposed to unwholesome business practices.

[Pakmar]: And just look where that got us. Pakmar would rather be rich and corrupt, rather than poor and dead.

[Wade]: So how does that trace back to the Plumbers or the Council?

[Kilik]: Someone had to transport the Taydens physically from the bank. If we can pull up some type of camera footage or get an eye-witness account of the person that removed the Taydens from the storage unit, we might be able to find out who he's working for.

[Wade]: So we go to the shady off-shore bank, ID the guy who's been laundering the money, and make him tell us who his boss is. Sounds simple enough.

[Kilik]: It never is...

Kilik sighs and returns to staring out at the depths of space.

[Kilik]: Get some rest. I'll let you know when we arrive.

Is that his way of being considerate? You did almost lose an arm today. Maybe it would be a good idea to rest up. On another note, it looks like there's something up with Slate. He's not looking too hot.

You walk over to Slate in order to see what's wrong with him.

[Wade]: Hey little guy. You feeling alright?

He coughs up the very same red scarf that you saw down in the treasure room on Aggra Taj. You think of picking it up and examining it, but it's covered in a strange discolored slime from having been inside Slate's belly. You push it to the corner of the cockpit and decide to leave it there for the time being. Slate looks much better now that he's coughed up the obstruction.

After dragging your sore body to your room, you transform into Snapdragon in order to create some healing salve for your arm. It's sort of similar to Aloe, actually. And while you're at it, you create some natural painkillers and herbal teabags for later. You need to get back in shape as soon as possible.

[Trixy]: I recommend making a sling to keep your arm in place as it heals. It will prevent any unnecessary fractures or nerve damage.

[Wade]: Noted.

You create a sling from thick, tropical palm leaves and fit it your arm after timing out.

[Wade]: Say Trixy, have you met Olumar?

[Trixy]: I was present when the two of you became acquainted, but I was otherwise occupied at the time.

[Wade]: Well she's a genie that's gonna be joining us on our journey.

[Trixy]: And this was already decided without my input? How much do you know about this creature?

[Wade]: Well...not much at the moment. I didn't think you wanted to throw in your two cents.

[Trixy]: Earth currency is not relevant to the matter at hand, Wade. Allow me to speak to this "Olumar".

Trixy's acting pretty weird right now. She seems more...emotional. And her tone almost sounds sassy.

[Wade]: Uh, sure. Hold on, let me wake her up.

You rub Olumar's lamp gently, but receive no response.

[Wade]: She might just be a heavy sleeper. Lemme try again.

You knock loudly on the lamp, until it starts to shake and spit blue smoke from the spout. A child sized Olumar appears from the lamp, yawning while rubbing her eyes. She exposes her sharp canines as she stretches her arms.

[Olumar]: How dare you interrupt my beauty sleep! And so soon after I assisted you! This better be important.

>"I just woke you up to introduce you to my friend, Trixy."
>"Trixy, this is Olumar. She's usually much bigger than this."
>"Do you usually shrink when you get tired?"

[Wade]: I just woke you up to introduce you to my friend, Trixy.

Olumar narrows her eyes and looks around the room.

[Oluamr]: Well? Where is the little whelp? Is she using a spell of invisibility?

[Wade]: No, she's an A.I. Kinda like a computer programmed to think and act like a person.

Olumar seems more confused than before. Looks like you're gonna have a lot of explaining to do.

[Trixy]: If you are having difficulty understanding, I can explain the concept to you.

The tiny genie leans closer to examine your watch.

[Olumar]: So this "A.I". Is it a type of demon or spirit creature? I was unaware that you had trapped and enslaved another Djinn. And the trinket you've housed her in is hideous! The poor thing...

[Wade]: Hey! She's not a Djinn. She's like-

[Trixy]: Wade. I will handle it from here.

You stay quiet and point the Omnitrix toward Olumar.

[Trixy]: I assume you were trapped underground for many a century?

[Olumar]: Yes. It was quite boring just sitting there collecting dust for hundreds of years. Then it got fun for a few years, but it got old rather quickly.

[Trixy]: Then you must be updated on the historical events and technological milestones that have been reached.

[Olumar]: Do I? No offense, but that sounds rather dull. I'd much rather see the new galaxy with my own two eyes.

[Trixy]: You'd rather remain ignorant than pursue a knowledge greater than your own?

[Olumar]: Oh lighten up, darling! You sound more like a monk than an "A.I.". I do not require enlightenment of any sort. Excitement is what I crave!

[Trixy]: History can be exciting, if taught with the proper method.

[Olumar]: I highly doubt it. I have a great library in my lamp, so I've had my full of dusty old books.

[Trixy]: Maybe this will change your mind.

Trixy displays a hologram that recounts the ancient history of the galaxy. Olumar's eyes go wide as she puts her smokey hand through the hologram.

[Olumar]: Ooh! What form of magic is this?

[Trixy]: Not magic. Science.

Olumar's eyes are practically glistening with excitement.

[Olumar]: Interesting. Show me more!

[Trixy]: Very well. Let is start at the beginning, with the Contumelia…

This sounds like it'll be pretty long winded. You should get some rest while these gals talk the night away.

No use fighting your lack of sleep. You can't afford to neglect your health when you're in such bad shape.

[Wade]: You guys have fun. I'm gonna get some sleep. Let me know what you talked about when i get up, ok?

[Trixy]: That is a wise decision, Wade. I will proceed with the lesson.

[Olumar]: So the human gets to sleep, while I get a history lesson? And here I thought I would be serving under a merciful master...

Trixy ignores Olumar's whining and continues with her lesson, while you drift off to sleep. Their words fade into the distance, and become muffled the further you sink into the black abyss. You've never felt this way while falling asleep. Trixy's voice is becoming more and more distorted, as if you were at the bottom of the ocean. It becomes hard to breathe, and you begin to panic while flailing your limbs. Your vision grows blurry, and your body feels much heavier than before. The last thing you see is a purple haze that washes over you, as your body gently collides with something solid and flat. Hopefully it's the ground.

[???]: Wake up...

Your eyes shoot open, and you look around to see that you've fallen quite a way from when you entered this strange dreamscape. When you squint your eyes, you can vaguely see the other girls talking next to your unconscious body. What is this? And who was that before?

You turn around to see OH FUCK WHAT IS THAT?!

A creature with an upside-down face, sharp claws and and a ringed tail floats beside you! It's single eye appears as if it is gazing into your very soul.

>"Ahhhh!!!"
>"Damn you're ugly!"
>"Are you a demon like Olumar?"

[Wade]: Is this one of those lucid dreams> If so, I'd like to wake up now.

[???]: Do not be afraid. I am not here to harm you, human.

His voice is raspy and strained. It kind of reminds you of Ghostfreak, if only a little bit.

[Wade]: Who are you? And where am I?

[Zs'Skayr]: You may call me Zs'Skayr, and we are within the deepest recesses of your mind.

So this guy really is Ghostfreak, then. He doesn't seem as crazy as he was when you transformed into him a few days back.

[Wade]: If we're in my head, then why are you here? Shouldn't you be trapped in my watch?

[Zs'Skayr]: You couldn't trap me. Not permanently anyway. The Omnitrix used to be a separate device that could attach itself to other beings and grant them extraordinary power. But now, it's as much of a part of you as your meaty little hands. That made you vulnerable.

[Wade]: So you're haunting me from inside of my watch? That's kind of impressive.

[Zs'Skayr]: I know. I've been roaming around the Omnitrix for some time now. Being treated like a virus by your virtual aid.

[Wade]: You mean Trixy? And...what do you mean by "roaming around"?

[Zs'Skayr]: Believe me, it's much bigger on the inside.

[Wade]: Were there any other aliens running lose in my Omnitrix? And are they conscious like you?

[Zs'Skayr]: Just one. It was a silicon based life form of some sort. I never bothered to greet it.

Well that's interesting. You'll have to ask Trixy to look into that later.

[Wade]: You know, you're much easier to talk to now. Why the change of attitude?

Zs'Skayr stares at you for a moment, before letting out a long, drawn out sigh.

[Zs'Skayr]: I apologize. My...condition makes it difficult for me to discern right from wrong at certain times.

[Wade]: Condition? Are you sick?

[Zs'Skayr]:Yes, but it is not unique or uncommon amongst my people. About 99% of them suffer from a genetic disease known as the "Spectrophage". It drives us mad, and makes us prone to fits of blind rage and aggression.

You try to make a bit of distance between the two of you without him noticing.

[Zs'Skayr]: Do not worry. While I remain in your Omnitrix, I am immune to the effects of my condition. I am not sure why, but it may just provide the key to curing my disease.

This guy's story isn't clicking with any of what Kirby told you. You should grill him for more information.

[Wade]: Tell me more about yourself. I've heard about you from a friend, but I want to hear your story directly from your mouth.

[Zs'Skayr]: Hmm.Very well.

You sit down and beckon him to lower himself as well.

[Zs'Skayr]: I was a scientist on my home planet, Anur Phaetos, working to uncover the secrets of our past. It was then that i came across a stone tablet that was created by an Ectonurite predating myself by a few hundred years. It provided clear insight on the genetic structure of my people, and how a flaw was developing in our DNA. A flaw that made us all hyper-aggressive and without morality of any kind. I finally had proof that we were more than bloodthirsty savages. The problem was delivering the message to said bloodthirsty savages.

[Wade]: So then what happened?

[Zs'Skayr]: What do you think? They tore me apart, limb from limb. My people had been rather testy lately, due to them overthrowing the last Ecto-Lord and banishing him to the depths of space. Fortunately, I had been smart enough to leave a sample of my DNA in my lab, so that I would not disappear permanently.

[Wade]: Hold up. So you just...died and re-spawned like nothing ever happened?

[Zs'Skayr]: I did not "re-spawn". I simply left a sample of my DNA, containing my memories and personality, before being torn to pieces.

[Wade]: No, you're not getting it. You actually died. You just cloned yourself and made your clone think he was the real Zs'Skayr. How many times have you done this?!

[Zs'Skayr]: I do not see the problem. My people have been practicing this for centuries. As long as a small sliver of you remains, you will never truly perish.

You can't even begin to critique this ass-backwards way of thinking.

[Wade]: Fine. Sorry for interrupting. Continue with your story.

[Zs'Skayr]: Very well then.

(Cont.)
>>
[Zs'Skayr]: Once I regenerated, I redirected my efforts to getting assistance from an outside source. I traveled to Anur Transyl and met a brilliant Transylian scientist named "Viktor". We grew closer due mutual feelings of being oppressed by mad tyrants, as Anur Transyl was still recovering from the damage done by the Vladats. I vented my frustrations to him, and he agreed to help me find a cure to the Spectrophage.

[Wade]: You knew Viktor? I met the guy a few weeks back in Texas!

[Zs'Skayr]: What?! He is on Earth?!

[Wade]: Yeah. I helped him to fight off a sentient virus that was making people attack each other. We drove it away though.

[Zs'Skayr]: I see. Is he...doing well?

Zs'Skayr took on a lower and more humbled tone when he was talking about Viktor. Maybe something happened between them.

[Wade]: Yeah he was doing good. He was actaully a pretty cool guy. Did something happen between the two of you?

Zs'Skayr looks down to the murky ocean floor and growls deeply.

[Zs'Skayr]: Yes, and it was all my fault. Tensions rose between us, as our research had not fetched any satisfying results. The stress from the situation aggravated my condition and...I became someone else entirely. Luckily, I drove him off before I could hurt him too much. The look on his face, was one of pure fear and betrayal. I tortured that poor man for days on end, and I have no way of repenting for it.

Zs'Skayr trails off a bit and looks into the distance with a sorrowful expression.

>"You know, I could just call him up and have you guys talk it out."
>"He knew you were a victim of circumstance. I'm sure he's forgiven you by now."
>"Have you discovered anything new about your condition?"

[Wade]: He knew you were a victim of circumstance. I’m sure he’s forgiven you by now.

[Zs’Skayr]: You don’t understand. He and his people had been recovering from the heavy hand of the Vladats. To them, the Transylians were nothing more than cattle. Imagine the fear that must have gripped him when he thought I would imprison him as well. If I were him, I would not forgive something like that.

You both go quiet, allowing you to hear Olumar and Trixy's voices far above you.

[Wade]: Anyways…

Your attempt to break the uncomfortable silence was not as smooth as you would have hoped, but you got his attention.

[Wade]: Not much to go on, but my current bet as to why the Spectrophage isn’t affecting you while you’re in the Omnitrix might be due to the fact that it’s trying to preserve your DNA sample.

[Zs’Skayr]: Hmm. So you’re saying that my DNA sample is being perfectly preserved as an ideal specimen while I am in here? That does make some sense…

[Wade]: And it’d make sense as to why you go berserk when I transform into you. It’s like taking food that's going bad in and out of the freezer.

[Zs’Skayr]: I see. My condition will not worsen while I am in here. But when I am used, my aggravated condition flares up and effects you as well.

[Wade]: While we’re still on the topic, mind telling me how you were put into the Omnitrix? My friend told me that Azmuth would never willingly put an Ectonurite into the watch.

[Zs’Skayr]: Indeed. I had come to the same conclusion. Or, I believe my previous self did…

[Wade]: This is gonna involve you cloning yourself again, isn't it?

[Zs’Skayr]: Ah...yes. I remember now. I placed a sample of my DNA within a Florauna, and allowed the infected sample to be placed into the Codon Stream. It was the only way to preserve my mind before I was completely lost to the Spectrophage.

[Wade]: Look man, you can’t just go around the galaxy leaving little Ghostfreaks everywhere and not expect something bad to happen.

Suddenly, your mind is flooded with theories and questions that might lead to troublesome encounters in the future. A race of evil ghosts that can clone themselves doesn't sit well with you.

[Wade]: Hey Z, what ever happened to the version of you that placed the sample in the Omnitrix?

Zs'Skayr looks as if he's about to respond, but he places a bony finger to his chin(Forehead?) and ponders your inquiry.

[Zs'Skayr]: I am unsure of his current whereabouts, or if he's dead or not. I had intended to destroy myself upon inserting my DNA into the Codon Stream, but there's no telling if I succeeded in doing so.

[Wade]: Doesn't that worry you?

[Zs'Skayr]: As much as it pains me to think of myself as someone so cruel, I am but one Ectonurite. How much harm could I do alone?

Oh, you have no idea.

[Wade]: That reminds me, I ran into my cloned twin a while back, and she cloned every single alien in the Omnitrix. Does that include you?

[Zs'Skayr]: Hmm, I suppose so. That does sound troubling. Were these clones exact copies?

[Wade]: Nah, they were really jank and messed up versions of my aliens mashed together.

[Zs'Skayr]: So they were "Corruptions".

[Wade]: What's that?

[Zs'Skayr]: I am very familiar with the cloning process. Every now and again, a mutation sprouts within your clone's DNA. I call them Corruptions because that is exactly what they are. They are sick and twisted copies of the species that the sample was taken from. If there is a corrupted version of myself floating around along with my original self, then we just might have reason to worry.

[Wade]: So you're telling me that there might be 3 different Zs'Skayrs in the universe?

[Zs'Skayr]: Presumably, yes.

[Wade]: Are there any other clones of you I should be worried about?

[Zs'Skayr]: None that I am aware of.

Deep breaths...deep breaths...

[Wade]: So, do you guys have any weaknesses?

Zs'Skayr's eye goes wide at your rude question.

[Wade]: It's nothing personal. Just a safety precaution.

[Zs'Skayr]: We are weak to sunlight. It damage and possibly destroy use through prolonged exposure.

[Wade]: That's good to know. Thanks for telling me.

[Zs'Skayr]: It is necessary information for the journey ahead of us. Think nothing of it.

So now that you've heard Zs'Skayr's story, what do you think of him? Can he be trusted? How should you deal with him in the future.

Well, he doesn't sound like a bad guy. He's just a victim of circumstance. In fact, you might even be able to help him to cure his disease. You know that the Omnitrix has a DNA repair function that might be able to help him out. You should consult Trixy about this when you wake up.

[Wade]: I'm gonna try everything I can to cure you, but I can't let you roam free until i think I can trust you.

[Zs'Skayr]: That is...reasonable. I will allow your security systems to imprison me once more. But if you cannot find a way to cure me, then you might have to consider eliminating me.

[Wade]: It won't come to that, I promise. And thanks for being so understanding.

[Zs'Skayr]: As long as I can find a cure for my people, I will make whatever sacrifices are necessary.

The ink-like black substance that surrounded you earlier is now swallowing you up, making you unable to see your own hands.

[Zs'Skayr]: It appears our time is up. You should be waking up in a few hours.

You try to speak, but the inky substance has already reached your mouth. A numb sensation spreads throughout your body.

[Zs'Skayr]: I hope you will be more successful than I was. Until next time, Wade Wakeman.

Just then, everything goes black, and you open your eyes once more to see the ceiling of your room. Well...it's more like Kilik's room, but he lent it to you for the night.

Olumar and Trixy have finished their history lesson, so she seems to have gone back to sleep in her lamp. You should let her rest so she doesn't get fed up with you. On another note, there appears to be a pending message on your Plumber's badge.

[Wade]: Hey Trixy, you won't believe what just happened!

You look at your gloved hand and wait for Trixy to respond. Huh...that's weird actually. You don't remember putting these gloves on before you went to sleep.

[Trixy]: What is it, Wade?

You explain how Ghostfreak dragged you into some weird dreamscape and told you about who he was.

[Wade]: I want to help him somehow. Maybe the DNA repair function might be able to do something?

[Trixy]: The DNA repair function restore's an alien's base genetic code based on knowledge that has been collected from the sample. This helps to overwrite any irregularities in their DNA, such as mutations. But since this genetic deformity is so deep set after generations of inbreeding, the deformed DNA has become the standard for Ectonurites.

[Wade]: So there's no way to fix him?

[Trixy]: There are two ways. Your creator should have sufficient knowledge and resources to engineer a genetically pure Ectonurite. The only other individuals that come to mind are Myaxx and Azmuth.

[Wade]: So what's the other way?

[Trixy]: It is very risky. It is possible for me to splice the DNA sample with another, in order to overwrite the deformity in the specimen's DNA. There is no guaranteed success with this method, and you risk corrupting both samples that were used in the process. You would lose both of them.

[Wade]: You weren't kidding then...

[Trixy]: No, I was not. You are not required to make a decision at this very moment, but you should decide what you wish to do with him in the future. In the meantime, I will keep him locked and preserved in the Omnitrix's storage units.

[Wade]: Thanks a bunch, Trixy.

So you can either trust Iden to save Zs'Skayr or wait until you find Azmuth. Myaxx might know a way to help him too, but she isn't a super genius or a mad scientist. You'll have to think about this later.

You pull out your Plumber badge and check the message that was left for you. It's from Koba!

[Koba]: Wade. I've got some bad news for you. I wasn't able to hold off the Plumbers, and they've sent a response team to the sector you're heading to. And these aren't just your average meter maids. They sent Omega Squad to deal with you guys. They're usually dispatched for high level threats and acts of terrorism. I think they might be tracking you and Kilik through your badges. If you're right about this whole corruption theory of yours, then this might run deeper than I thought it did. Don't trust anyone except the ones who are in that ship with you. Be safe out there, kiddo.

Great...now you're being hunted by the Plumbers too. Hopefully, you'll be able to close this case out soon. You don't want to spend the rest of your life running from the space police.

While you're filling people in on the whole Ghostfreak situation, you should call Kirby and let him know what's going on. It's been a while since you've heard from him.

You remember that Kirby doesn't have a cell phone, so you decide to try reaching out to him through the mana field. You've never tried to call out to anyone that wasn't Verdona while meditating.

After crossing your legs and closing your eyes, you lower your heart rate through a breathing technique that Kirby taught you. Your mind extends past your body and dives straight into an ocean of astral energy. It's difficult to sense anything through the turbulent waves that threaten to overwhelm you. If you aren't careful, you can be swept away by a shift in the astral plane, or swallowed by a roaming cosmic horror. The things that you've seen in the corner of your eye while doing this might just haunt your nightmares if you weren't so used to seeing bizarre creatures every single day.

Suddenly, you're swept through a doorway composed of blinding light. It drags you through and sends you hurtling down a spiral staircase that appears to be endless. It doesn't hurt, but it's annoying because you are unable to stop yourself from rolling down the stairs. When you finally stop and land on your feet, you are face to face with a bizarre creature. It looks to be a mix between an Angler Fish and a Brown Bear.

You back away in shock, only to see that it's been mounted on a wall. This thing is long dead.

[Hope]: Hello.

You turn around to see Hope sitting in comfy chair and sipping tea in front of a fireplace. The flames that illuminates the room are purple for some reason, but you just attribute that to magic nonsense.

[Wade]: Hey Hope. Were you the one who dragged me in here?

[Hope]: Well you looked like you were having trouble out there, so I thought I'd give you a hand. You were trying to reach my dear husband, right?

[Wade]: Yeah. How'd you know?

[Hope]: I'm reading the aura of your astral projection. It's like a "recent search history". Hold on, I'll call him over.

A long rope descends from the ceiling and Charmcaster pulls it a couple of times, causing the entire building to shake violently. Suddenly, a bright beam of light shines down from the previously pitch black ceiling, as a portal of some sort opens up to reveal Kirby's smiling face. He's fucking huge!

[Kirby]: Hey honey! You need something?

[Hope]: I don't, but he does.

She points to you, and Kirby's face lights up upon noticing that you're there.

[Kirby]: Hey buddy, how'd you get in there?!

[Wade]: Your wife pulled me in here. Am I...in your bag?

[Kirby]: Well, it's more like a pocket dimension that can travel across the astral plane. Think of it like a mobile pit-stop. Roomy isn't it?

[Hope]: Welcome to the Sanctuary. You're welcome to stay here a while, if you'd like.

[Wade]: Thanks for the offer, but I can't stay. I've got a mission to get back to after this.

[Kirby]: Aw, look at my little protege. Always saving the galaxy like his old man. And here I thought you'd die of boredom with those councilmen. Now that I think of it, how's Koba been.

[Wade]: He's fine, but that's not important right now. I've got some good news and some bad news.

[Kirby]: Ok give me the good news.

[Wade]: It's about Ghostfreak. Turns out he's not such a bad guy after all.

[Kirby]: What?! You let him out?

[Wade]: No, he dragged me into some weird dreamscape place and sat me down to explain himself. He's not evil, but he suffers from some genetic disease that makes him go crazy. He and all the other Ectonruites aren't just sick in the head, but they're actually sick. They need our help.

[Kirby]: And that's the good news?

[Wade]: Well it's the best news I've gotten in a long time. If we can cure him, then we might have a good Zs'Skayr on our side. That would be a huge advantage!

Kirby scratches his beard and closes his eyes to think about what you've said.

[Kirby]: Hmm, you're right. that would be a big change from my dimension. We've got a good Viktor here, so there is a possibility that Zs'Skayr isn't lying.

[Wade]: I'm gonna try to find someone who can cure him. But in the meantime, he's gonna stay locked in the Omnitrix.

[Kirby]: Good call, kid. He's too dangerous to be let out right now.

[Wade]: And now for the bad news...

You take a deep breath and tell him about the 2 other Ghostfreaks that you might have to deal with. You can see the color drain from his face as panic starts to set in.

[Kirby]: Oh boy. I...I think I need to lay down.

[Wade]: Is it that bad?

[Kirby]: Of course it's bad! One Zs'Skayr nearly killed me and became ruler of the universe! If there's three of them then...

Kirby seems like he might start hyperventilating.

[Hope]: Deep breaths, darling.

[Kirby]: I'm okay. I'm okay. Was there anything else?

[Wade]: I made friends with a genie and I think there's a traitor on the council.

[Kirby]: Oh, is that all? Let me know when you're done over there. We could really use your help back down on Earth.

He's completely fine with those other things, but pisses his pants at the thought of a ghost? Your mentor might just have his priorities backwards.

[Wade]: Will do.

You look at your hand and see that it's becoming more and more transparent by the second.

[Hope]: You should be getting back soon. You're stretching yourself a bit thin there.

Hope opens a portal with a wave of your hand and sends you hurtling through it.

[Hope]: Until next time.

You're sent crashing back into your body with enough force to knock you over. You narrowly avoid losing your balance and catch yourself just in time. You're getting the hang of this!

It'd probably be a good time for you to go check on Kilik. You walk past a mirror and...hold up...

You walk back to the mirror and see that you're fully clothed in a new costume! You now wear a leather jacket along with leather pants with a bit of padding built in. And on your neck is the same red scarf that you shoved into the corner of the cockpit. But the most notable feature is the big red "X' painted on the back of your jacket. Why didn't you notice that you were wearing this earlier?

You feel yourself up and notice just how well fitted this costume is. It feels like you aren't wearing anything at all! You also see your mask in the corner of the room, fully repaired as if nothing ever happened to it.

>Take off the costume. This is a bit too weird for you to accept readily.
>Take off the scarf. You might be dealing with a supernatural or cursed artifact here.
>"Hey Olumar, did you put this on me?"

[Wade]: Hey Olumar, did you out this on me?

The genie emerges from her lamp and examines your suit.

[Olumar]: No, but I think that did.

She points to the red scarf that hangs around your neck.

[Wade]: What is it?

[Olumar]: A filthy leech that slowly feeds off of your life energy. In exchange, it will clothe you in whatever garb you desire.

[Wade]: That sounds kinda dangerous...

[Olumar]: Oh, it's quite harmless actually. You might feel a bit tired at the end of the day, but you won't even feel the difference otherwise. Personally, I just find its behavior appalling. Just look at it, sucking up to you like an animal.

Despite Olumar's bias, this thing doesn't seem to be a threat to you. You can even use it to your advantage every now and then.

[Wade]: Man, this costume would be perfect if the Omnitrix were a belt.

[Trixy]: The Omnitrix can be re-positioned to fit your preference, if you would like.

[Wade]: Wait really?! Then...yes I would like.

[Trixy]: Understood. Re-configuring and reformatting Omnitrix structure.

The Omnitrix glows purple, detaches from your wrist and crawls over to your waist, reshaping itself entirely to fit your waistline. It feels a tiny bit uncomfortable, but you think you can get used to it.

You examine your wrist for a while, almost forgetting the feeling of it being naked. It feels like forever ago when the Omnitrix jumped onto your arm and stayed stuck there. You had no idea it would be so easy to take it off.

Your attention returns to the mirror, and you proceed to strike a few poses from your favorite Tokusatsu shows. You've gotten slightly more athletic in during your adventures, making you able to comfortably pull off moves that would've otherwise been impossible for you.

[Wade]: Just a passing by Plumber. Remember that!

[Trixy]: Reconfiguration complete.

Sweet! Time to show off to the rest of the space crew.

You walk out to greet Kilik, seeing that he's still intensely focused on emptiness of space before him. It appears he kicked the ship into light-speed at some point while you were sleeping. You find it strange that it didn't wake you up. It sure didn't wake up the stowaways sleeping in the corner of the cockpit.

[Kilik]: Sleep well?

He briefly turns around and examines your new costume.

[Kilik]: I wasn't aware that you had brought a change of clothes. It is very aesthetically pleasing.

>"Yeah, me neither."
>"Thanks. I think I'll keep it."
>"It's just temporary."
>"How close are we?"
>"Don't you ever sleep?"

[Wade]: It's just temporary.

[Kilik]: Hm. Shame.

[Wade]: Our time slot just got a bit smaller. The Plumbers are sending the big guns after us now.

[Kilik]: Koba told you? Did he mention which squadron they're sending?

[Wade]: Omega Squadron.

[Kilik]: Then they must really want us dead. We must hurry.

Kilik pushes the throttle all the way up and exits hyper-space at top speed. The sudden shift appears to have woken up the other two, and it almost causes you to fall out of your seat. As you regain your balance, you notice that you're approaching a large chain of interconnected space-stations surrounding a planet with rusted brown colors. The space stations themselves are barely holding together, as they orbit the planet in the middle of them.

[Kilik]: Welcome to The Fringes. It's where the scum of the galaxy all congregate to sell their wares, smuggle resources and buy pedal illegal products.

[Wade]: I thought you said it was a bank.

[Kilik]: It's a lot of things. Their shouldn't be too many Tayden storage units around the area. Once we get in, we locate the security office and procure the footage.

[Wade]: And we're just going to waltz right in there and steal the footage? I doubt they're just gonna let us take it.

[Kilik]: As do I. That is why you will be handling that part.

[Wade]: Just leave it to me!

[Kilik]: I do hope you maintain that enthusiastic attitude of yours during the mission.

Kilik flies through a security scanner and parks the ship in a crowded loading dock filled with exotic spacecraft.

[Wade]: We need to hurry up and find this security room.

[Pakmar]: Ooh ooh! Pakmar knows where it is.

Everyone looks down at the little green toad in confusion.

[Pakmar]: What? Pakmar conducts all sorts of business all over the cosmos.

[Kilik]: Fine. Pakmar, you and Qarma go with X.

[Wade]: And where are you going?

[Kilik]: I'm going to draw the Plumber's attention away from us. Give me your badge. If you don't have it, then they can't track you.

>"Sure. Just be careful."
>"No. Let me do the distracting. You can get the footage."
>"Here, take Olumar. She might be of some use to you."

[Wade]: Sure. Just be careful.

You take out your Plumber's badge and place it in his hand, before running towards where Pakmar says the security office is.

[Wade]: And come back alive too!

Kilik nods to you before running off in the opposite direction. You stop running once you reach a dense crowd, as to avoid drawing attention to yourself. You almost lose Pakmar a couple of times due to his small size, but you manage to keep him within your line of sight even when things got hectic. The inside of this space-station looks as if it's been abandoned, or no one's been maintaining it for a couple hundred years. You guess the oxygen filters are a little busted since the air doesn't feel all that healthy to breathe.

[Pakmar]: Here! Pakmar has found it!

[Qarma]: Quiet, you fool!

You see a heavily guarded tower surrounded by high walls and paroled by armed guards.

[Pakmar]: So, what's the plan.

>Transform into an alien and tell the others to try not to get in any trouble. (Which one?)
>Use Olumar to infiltrate the vents in her gaseous state.
>Tell Pakmar and Qarma to distract the guards while you try to find a way past the walls.
>Fly over the walls on your hover-board.

[Wade]: You guys wait here. I'll be in and out in 5 minutes or less.

[Pakmar]: Not like we have anything better to do. Just hurry back quickly!

You run off and hide behind a dumpster before transforming into Zipmunk. Your body shrinks down to a third of your size, brown fur covers your flesh and electricity runs through your veins! You forgot how good it felt to turn into this guy.

You detect a bundle of electrical cables running underground, so you find an exposed pothole that allows you entry into the sewers. If it weren't for the smell of electric currents flowing throw copper wire, your sensitive nose would be assaulted by some pretty pungent odors. You travel quickly through the wires, searching for a room that's drawing an unnecessary amount of energy. But the task proves to be a bit more difficult than you anticipated.

The cable management and quality of the wiring is pretty shitty, causing you to limit the amount of energy you're putting out, so you don't cause a blackout. And then there's the grouping and placement of the cables. There's no rhyme or reason to it! These cables stretch along the walls, floor and ceiling of every room in this tower. You almost got lost a couple of times, but you recognized some yellow wires that gave off the faint scent of composite video. These wires led you to a room filled with multiple monitors and one central console.

There's one guy overseeing security for this particular station, but he isn't paying too much attention. A tiny jolt of electricity aught to knock him out for a bit.

You release a powerful shock that travels up through the console without frying its systems. It was so sudden, that he didn't even get a chance to scream before he lost consciousness. Now you can search for this footage unimpeded.

You search through the security footage archive, and notice that someone withdrew a substantial amount of Taydens on the day before the drone was ordered. The man tried to hide his face, but he did a really poor job of it. After seeing his hairy blue face and the four spindly arms, he kinda looks like an Arachnachimp, so maybe there's some connection to Mizaru after all. You copy the footage onto a data disk and eject it from the console. You should bring this back to Kilik's ship. His facial recognition software should be able to ID this guy pretty quickly.

As you insert the disk in your mouth for safe-keeping, an alert pops up on the console. From the looks of it, someone's causing a ruckus in Sector 13. Upon closer examination, you see that Kilik is getting overwhelmed by a group of Plumbers in black uniforms. It looks like he's in trouble!

You scurry along the wall and crawl out of the tower through a crack in the walls. You've gotta hurry back and help your(Temporary) partner!

Session End.

Thanks for Playing. Hope you guys enjoyed it.

The next session will take place in a new thread on Friday at 4pm EDT.
