Your name is Shu, and you never thought you'd find your best friends at the end of the world. It's been a little over two weeks' time since you woke to realize that something from beyond the stars swallowed your world whole, turning it into a hellish landscape of throbbing flesh and chiseled bone. Despite a nerve-wracking time wandering the putrid, lethal wastes, you've found the apocalypse can bring out the best in people, and perhaps most of all in you. Memories of your monstrous past still haunt you, but continuing forward is easier now that you have capable allies by your side who respect the kind of person you're trying to be. Your numbers are growing, and in your mission to bring the creature that started all this to task, you are beginning to think that the five brave Daughters that stand alongside you now are just the first of many. Now, just as you were regaling a wide-eyed little girl with the tale of the Envious City and your incredible duel with legendary Marrow Dragoon, you were interrupted by a sympathetic sensation that could have only come from the other end of a bond you thought was severed by another's hand...Previous Thread: >>3320414Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Body%20Horror%20QuestTwitter: https://twitter.com/bodyhorrorquest?lang=enCharacter Abilities (2nd Ver): https://pastebin.com/N7G30PWx
"It was her, wasn't it?" Gina asks, rubbing small circles into your back as you sit cross-legged next to Julia's living room table. The taste of salt still lingers on your tongue, your lungs still scream from the after-burn of acrid water. Ghosts of sensations from someone you still share a bond with, though even ghosts can take their toll, it seems. "I think...I think she crossed the River of Tears." You choke out, dragging in harsh, rattling breaths with strained lungs."What the hell is she trying to pull?" Rath asks angrily, her voice steadily rising tas her grim tightens fearfully on your arm. "I swear to god, if that fucking bitch pulls this kind of shit again after what she put us through I'll...""THA-SUTH."The windows tremble in their panes, threatening to shatter as a high-pitched voice tears though the small space, carrying words of an alien tongue. You find the pain in your chest receding, your mind clearing as you look up at the source of the unexpectedly calming utterance. Amara's two-tone eyes glitter at you, her pleasure at her own exclamation evident in her wide, self-satisfied grin. Whatever those words were that she intoned, they carried the power to ease your heart and calm your senses, and you find yourself in awe as you mirror her smile."That's one of a bunch of stuff I figured out how to do while you were away!" She chirps happily, hands behind her back. "Feel better?""Much." You say, rising to your feet at ruffling her hair affectionately. "Thank you, Amara."You turn to Gina and Rath, who are already on their feet and ready to follow you as you begin to address them."Alright, I have an idea of where to go next thanks to Karma." You begin, feeling the Contender thrumming at your hip. "So let's get ready to..."Julia steps forwards and fixes you with dark eyes, a gentle hand on your arm as she gives you pause with her hard, determined gaze.(Continued)
>>3342379"Shu, I...I'm not one for fighting, but I'll d-do whatever I can to help." Julia says, straightening her back as Dorian watches her intently. "I'll fight, if it means k-keeping others out of harm's w-way.""I second that motion." Dorians follows, stepping forward gallantly with a flourish of his bright white suit-tails. You can't help but flinch slightly when his amorphous hard hardens into a taloned claw. "I may not be as experienced as the rest of you, but it would be my honor to stand by you and help make this world a better place.""Me too!" Amara chimes in, jumping up and down at your side. "I wanna make cool stories like the one you told me about Maroon Dracula!"While that's not exactly the take-away you wanted her to get from your story, you find yourself appreciating her enthusiasm as Rath chuckles to your left."Heh, I dunno if you've noticed, Shu..." She begins, gesturing wide at Julia, Dorian, and Amara. "...but we ain't exactly hurting for ass-kickers around here."{She has a point, Shu} Gina speaks into your mind. {Do you want to switch things up a bit?}It hadn't really occurred to you, until now. While you, Gina, and Rath are a capable unit on your own, getting to know your other allies' strengths and weaknesses would certainly be beneficial in the long run. You're pretty sure all three of them are pretty intent on joining you, but you would like to leave at least two people behind to keep an eye on your home base, as it were.In any case, you have five sets of eyes on you and a pair of destinations in mind, so it's time to make the call.>>Go back to Dorian's house and down to the shore of the River of Tears. Rath and Julia work as damage dealers (and Julia doubles as a debuffer), and Dorian is flexible enough to help out in any role. >>3342384“Okay.” You breathe, turning to Gina and Rath. “Are you both alright with holding down the fort while the rest of us…?”“YAY!” Amara screams, the floor shuddering from the power of her voice as she throws herself at your legs, while Dorian directs a gracious bow in your direction.“Come on, how can I say no to that?” Rath grins, shooting you a thumb’s up. “It’s cool, Gina and I got this.”{We’ll keep the place warm for you, Shu} Gina says with a wink and a smile, and you turn away before your spreading blush becomes more apparent. “Alright everyone.” You say, putting on your best leader-face. “Let’s go.”You and your new team exchange a series of hug and well-wishes with Gina and Rath, and then you descend as one into Charon’s waystation. You note with some concern that Charon is still absent, though thanks to your bond with Gina, she’s able to channel through you and allow you passage to the first station you ever discovered, deep in the heart of Kosi’s home. You’re having to drag Amara from the ruins of the Envious City when a question occurs to you, and you focus your mind on the Hexane weapon at your side. [Contend…Karma, are you there?]|Always, Master. How may I help?| She replies, her luxurious voice caressing your mind.[The Engine, the uncorrupted one we’re going after...what are it’s parameters? When you and Dorian catch up with them, you notice Amara’s head is tilted intently at the ground, while your resident sculptress has a look of concern on her taught features.“Treasure!” Amara chirps happily, twirling in place. “Monster and a treasure!”“There’s something d-down there.” Julia says, kneeling down with her hand to the fleshscape. “Large, left as a g-guard by Mother.”She looks up at you and the shifting artist by your side.“I t-think we can put it t-to rest, though.” She says, glancing between the two of you, only a tinge of uncertainty in her knitted brow. “Between the four of us, we stand a good chance of victory.”Dorian gives you an assured nod, his hands sharpening into gleaming talons of crystallized liquid. Any blind spots?”“It’s n-not moving around much, but aside from t-that I c-can’t say. I’m s-sorry.” Julia replies sadly, and you put a reassuring hand on her shoulder before you turn to Amara.“Itsa’ doggo.” She declares with a sage nod. “It’s a big ‘ol doggo, so sleepy, much tired. Yep!”Well, that’s better than nothing. You switch your vision to your swarmling as it passes the Sororitas’ still-tidy room, slipping through the elevator doors at the end of the hall and descending the lightless shaft.“Amara, are there any other treasure besides the big one? Sometimes dungeons have side rooms that carry little loot besides the big one.” You select your phrasing carefully, and it has the intended effect when her eyes light up. “Can you tell anything else about what’s down in the dungeon, or the layout?”She drops to the factory floor before you can stop her and starts to mutter to the cracks in the concrete foundation. She tilts her ear, listening intently before a wide grin spreads across her face. “Nothing’s changed since the last time I was here! And it looks like there’s something really cool just past the main treasure room, like a second little hidden treasure!”“Wait a second, are you saying you know this place?” You ask, and you’re met with a series of nods so rapid they make your neck hurt.“Of course! Mom used to take me back and forth between here and our house!” Amara answers cheerfully. “She was always super-super busy running everything around here, so she let me play in the basement while she worked!”Switching your vision to your scout’s, you stop when something stirs in the darkness, a lanky and angular form rising lazily from the cold stone floor, growing in height until…your swarmling’s eyes seem to distort, as you realize that your creation has abruptly been reduced to inert biomass.“I can take point going forwards.” Dorian offers from behind you, his arms lengthening into a pair of multi-hued tendrils. If you’re going to do this, you know you need to consider your approach carefully.>>You’re here, and at least half your team has combat experience. Amara? Did your Mom have any dogs, or did anyone she work with have one?”The little girl shakes her head, her bangs going wild about her face.“Nope! They weren’t allowed on factory grounds, she was really serious about that.” She informs you, and you scratch one possibility off your list. Rising, you slide the Ignition Gantlets off your wrists and onto the slender arms of Julia. You’re impressed with Rath’s forethought when they slim down and tighten around her forearms, shifting to a snug fit.“Those gauntlets Rath made have a kick, so be careful. Hey, you need physical contact to use your abilities, right?” You ask, and you run a hand over the tops of both pieces of armor as your platelings gird the rest of the slight girl. She smiles as the tips of the armor recede, leaving her fingers exposed and her abilities viable.“T-thank you, Shu.” Julia says gratefully, as a chuckle from behind her makes you look up. Dorian’s armor seems to shift in hue, somehow becoming a stark white to match his coat. “It’s like a paladin’s armor! I love it, Miss Shu!” He exclaims, and you look down when Amara tugs on your shirt, having already spoken a pair of simple phrases that don’t seem to have any immediate effect on your allies.“Do I get a cool costume, too?” She asks, hopeful. You smile at her and usher FuzzBuzz to your side. The moment the swarmling alights on your shoulder a series of armored plates emerge on its downy shell, gleaming and distinguished as you promote him to a Knight. As she’s marveling at her favorite swarmling’s fancy new getup, you pull Shalaev’s Shawl from your pocket and press it into her hands. “It’s an invisibility cloak.” You say, and you think she may just faint then and there from delight. “Keep it on, and FuzzBuzz will keep you safe, alright?”She nods and vanishes before your eyes, and with that, you begin your journey into the dark. You’re not sure if the jittery nature Julia and Dorian seem to share at current is due to nervous energy or Amara’s speed boost, but something tells you it’s a blend of both.(Continued)
>>3342981The elevator shaft takes a bit of work, but between Amara’s piggy-backing on you, Dorian’s motile arms, and Julia’s clever use of her skin as a makeshift parachute (much to Dorian’s amusement), the four of you reach the bottom without incident. A dull glow from down the hallway before you is paired with a low hum, and you know you’re close.Something speaks a warning, in a language of harsh angles and sharp syllables. You feel Amara wince beside you as you open the empathic channel to the beast, you and your team emerging from the hall and into a large underground cistern, at the center of which hums seven pillars, surrounding an altar of onyx stone. Far less malevolent than its kin that hums beneath Dorian’s home, it still emanates an aura of something otherworldly, something from beyond understanding.A Sparagmos Engine, intact and unviolated.“Hello?” Amara says, still cloaked at your side. “We don’t mean you any harm doggo, we’re just here to see your Engine thingy and…”From within the multitudinous angles of the pillars something emerges, undulating flesh binding an impossible form. It paws silently around and between the jet-black spires, your eyes struggling to focus on the utterly alien form that stalks towards you. A gaze composed of a dozen luminous sockets meets yours, staring you down with a predator’s focus. It speaks again, its words cutting gashes across your mind, the intent behind its harsh speech as clear to you as the tension that you feel in your allies. You should not have come here.“Shu...um…” Amara begins, and for the first time since you met there’s a hint of fear and hesitation in her small voice. “…I don’t think that doggo’s friendly.”Shu the DefiantVS.THE FLESHBOUND TINDALOSHP: 100%BIO: 97% (8 Platelings, 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz, 9/18 Active)CONTENDER: Empty, Basic FormRAVENOUS MAW: Primed and Ready.ACT: 2/2THREAT: Medium, approaching, ancient.AMARA HP: 50% (Cloaked)DORIAN HP: 120% (Armored, Hastened)JULIA HP: 160% (Ignition Gauntlets Equipped, Armored, Hastened)YOU ARE IN CONTROL

>>3342983We should try to cripple and/or distract it (in order to facilitate the use of Julia's abilities)Tell Amara to distract it, summon about 2 swarmlings targeting the eyes, and Julia and Dorian should go on the offensive as the most able to deal damage. Next round the Contender's probably up.
>>3343001Seconded. Dorian should go into a defensive mode and tank attacks, while Julia should attack it and layer on debuffs. Amara should slow it down as well with Rho Vul.Let's see what kind of combat capabilities it has before we use a specific plan of attack.
>>3343025Do we want just "Rho Vul" or to make it "Ter Rho Vul"?And I suggest buffing allies next round with "San Tha".
>>3342983A Hound of Tindalos variant. >lanky>paws silently around. This one looks like a hit-run type.>A gaze composed of a dozen luminous sockets meets yoursIt can't be flanked or blindsided. It can see through camouflage, which is why it destroyed the swarmling scout.>slim and lanky. It's built for speed.
>>3343036We need to hinder its movement options. It's dangerous enough as is. and our allies are buffed enough as is. In terms of vulnerability, Amara is the most vulnerable, the shawl isn't a good defense for her because the hound has true sight.Next on the list would be Shu, second to lowest health pool of the group, intergal to the command structure. She spent much of her bio making swarmlings and armoring up her partners.
>>3342983>(8 Platelings, 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz, 9/18 Active)We really should be keeping a few swarmlings on us at all times. There's no reason Shu should need to waste actions constructing nearly all of her offence on the spot.BHOP, did we have a subversive swarmling that was scouting ahead of us, or did it get pounced/converted?In any case, we should keep spawning more. Let's say 4 acidic swarmlings and 4 recursive drill swarmlings (the latter of which then combine into two). The first thing to do is blind it, so we'll see if we can use acid for that, and if that doesn't work, we can have drill swarminglings go in so they can ferry the baby swarmlings as far inside the dog's skull as we can manage.Dorian should go into paint blob mode encumber and blind (once the acid has runs its course).
>>3342983right, here we go.>SHU; spawn two banelings, and have them fly over and rest on Dorians shoulders.>DORIAN; step forwards and attempt to garner the Fleshhounds attention. make it look like the swarmlings came from you, 'tossing' them out and in a low fly arch towards the thing. be prepared to use your enhanced movement to spring away at a moments notice, but only once it gets extremely close.>AMARA; once the Fleshhound has charged Dorian and gets close, use VUL TER RHO on the enemy, to of course hinder their movement.>JULIA; once Dorian is out of the way and the Fleshhound hindered, rush in and go as nuts as you can upon the Fleshhounds legs, then back off.>SHU; After Julia is done, attempt to wrap its head into your Tongue, and either hold it steady or if you can, drag it towards yours Executionors Maw.
How many swarmlings can we make In a round? If we can do so I'd say make a full 9 more and have four of them play Interception and send five In to attack. We can afford to make more If we lose swarmlings, as they're rather cheap to make (basic ones) now aren't they?
>>3343401>Basic Swarmling Cost: 1%, Enhanced Swarmling Cost: 5% (for combinations, the cost is merely additive at your swarmling’s current level. Chitinous Stalwart: 65% for Full Armor.)yeah, we really under utilize just how cheap basic Swarmlings are, considering they aint nothing to snuff at, can take a free hit, and worse case scenario we can combine them to make them bigger.i mean, i actually do not know the answer, but which is better, a Baneling or a x5 size Swarmling? they would both cost the same, so...
>>3343401(You have no creation limit, and basic swarmlings cost a mere 1% BIO to craft and can survive lethal damage with one health remaining, making them considerably stronger than they used to be.)
>>3343418They can take TWO hits anon. With what we have,We' best better its attack options. With the build it has, it can easily blitz around the room and deal 50% damage to Amara in a single swipe or tackle. And I'd rather not leave it up to dice when the Hound does get in a hit.
>>3343418oh, and i dont think we have a limit, or at least, one has never been given to us, though background info wise there may be a limit per ACT.it was implied actually, that using an Ability counts as an ACT, but no limit therein for said Ability. movement and Attacking also both used up an ACT, with both being limited to 1 unless otherwise affected.our Swarmlings however, seem to each themselves be able to do an ACT, or something akin to it, though they might still only together be able to follow one 'order/plan' from us a turn. again, BHOP seemed to intentionally leave it vague but this is about what i garnered from our conversation when i asked, so do take it with a grain of salt.
>>3343433>free hitill admit this is poorly worded but i meant this as in, a hit without taking a damage, aka a free hit, which yes would mean they can take at least two.
>>3343424>>3342983Yeah, how about In addition to the banelings people are suggesting, why don't we >make 7 swarmlings for 7% BIO>put four on defense and send 3 In with the banelings on offenseThe worst thing can happen Is we lose swarmlings to taking the brunt of the offense for a small handful of Bio, which we can just rinse and repeat. I'd rather not lose Dorian or Amara when we could be playing safe right now.
>>3343441id only like to point out we have tried playing it safe multiple times in the past only for an enemy to simply find a work around or just smash right through.at least with my plan we attempt to lure it into actions we ourselves wish it to take, rather than hoping it takes actions that we want, and can actually inhibit or stop.
>>3343449I'd like to point out our plans aren't Incompatible. We can very easily follow your plan and have Swarmlings around as a safety net. They deal damage, and soak up aggro and damage and only cost a mere 7% more BIO.The only problem Is I don't know how many we can spawn that the action would count as one ACT and fit In with the first part. If we can make a full 9 (2 bane 7 basic) then lets do It, If not then add as many basic swarmlings as we can. They're almost free shields anon, free shields on a pretty squishy team. Just do both.
>>3343469(You are able to make a full nine, yes. Using a single ACT, you are able to craft as many Swarmlings of as many types as you have available slots and BIO. This is the most potent ability of a Hive Mistress, as no other class has as much sheer overwhelming numbers as they do. Even high-level Generators do not have such high caps or cheap creations.)
>>3343469>>3343424no creation limit, so id think at worst a single Act.>>3343480and so it is.and true, not reason a screening shield cannot be added to my plan.ignore my idiocy i simply saw your ID color and thought you one of the previous Anons, that is my fault.
Situation: We have a Hound of Tindalos variant.>Ancient That big of an age implies that it's very wise and experienced. It probably has more actions per turn. Room layout is thus: We have a circular room with a circle of spires.>lanky and sleek build.Speedster. Hit and run tactic. The fact that it's ANCIENT means that >That tongue. That's probably it's main method of attack. We've seen the roach hounds use the tongues as prehensile tools to throw skulls and fangs at terrifying speeds. >claws and quad-pedal build. It's a fast doggo. if we're going to limit its options, we need to do 3 things: 1. Cripple it's mobility, break its legs, or make it so that it any sort of movement option get limited.2. muzzle the hound. The tongue is probably what smashed the swarmling scout.3. blind it's eyes. That thing's entire head and neck is glowing eye central. It can't be flanked nor surprised.

>>3343496>>3343517yes i am very aware of that. but when you only glance once and do not pay attention and there is already 5 IDs with purple/Magenta coloring you tend to mistake people for one another. it probably matters that i was mildly distracted at the moment so was simply trying to get the response out.it was no argument only i found earlier posted Actions for this update not really fully compatible with mine and some playing it pretty safe compared to what i thought necessary.

>>3343550>colorblind>the main way of telling Anons apart is via color codingoh my lord some of these conversations already get inter-tangled like hell, i cant even imagine what they must look like to you.
>>3343538>>3343538 Oh good, I thought I had lost It when I saw '56 replies' and clicked back Into the thread only for nothing to have changed and the catalog to tell me there had been no posts In minutes. It was an odd few moments. And good on you for being concerned with a post being written correctly on a Mongolian storytelling board. >>3343550 Oy vey. While I think the ID tags help generally with sorting out communication between anons and discouraging shitposting to an extent, they bring these odd problems to the table too.
>>3343568>>3343550Actually this reminds me, there Is a /qst/ trick that might help with that some In the future If you don't know It already.Click on someone's ID, and you highlight *all* of their posts. This only works for one anon at a time, but could be useful If you ever run Into the Olive-drab problem again.
>>3342983Shu: >Act 1: spawn 2 cicadalings and 7 basic swarmlings (each swarmling a different vibrant color of the rainbow). Cicadalings will make their high frequency noises that run on the same wavelength as Amara's Lexicon screaming, and also flank the hound. The swarmlings however will attach themselves and sting out the eyes on one side of the hound, Hopefully on the same side that Dorian is attacking. Render it blind on one side. >Act 2: Load up a B.33 special.Don't fire until you have a clear shot. Aim for the Hound's mouth. The B.33 special will gum up the mouth and render the tongue useless.>Free action: Switch to Lion Heart Saber after you've fired the B.33 special.Amara: >VUL TER RHO. If possible, harmonize with the Cicadalings so that the hound will not hear the spell being cast. >Stay close to Miss Shu.Julia:>Act 1: Ready an action to counter>Act 2: Strafe around the hound, your job is to limit the movement options the hound can have. If you see an opening, aim to break its forelegs.Dorian: >Free action: Morph into Canvass Form >Act 1: to close the distance with the hound. Force it to react you.>Free action: Morph into Critic Form>Act 2: Spawn 4 limbs in critic mode. Aim for the eyes on one side. If you do hit the eyes, then that's a bonus. The purpose for this move is to limit the Hound's movement options. >>3343538>>3343533>>3343036>>3343001Gentlemen, I would like a peer review of my battle tactic proposal. The overall goal in my battleplan for this round is to achieve the following objectives:>Blind the Hound on one side, establish a flank of vulnerability.>establish arena control and try to limit is movement options. A combination of Amara's spell cast, harrying swarmlings, and two 3 daughters flanking its options>Disabling its attack options. Objectives 1 & 2 will help, but it boils down to whether or not Shu can shoot the pupper right in the kisser. If she lands the shot with the B.33 special, then that will swing the tide of battle in our favor. >>3343550>BHOP's blind to olive drab.Well shoot. Can you still see Green text fine?
A thought as cropped up in my mind. What if the Tindalos hound is here because of Mother's actions in the previous Crucible? What if the Hound was stationed at this engine after the Cord saw what Mother did to an engine in the previous crucible? If Sparagmos engines were created by Charon and Mother's race to combat the Cord and the Crucible, then where did it get the power source? To my knowledge, after the Crucible begins, all other power sources (electrical, nuclear, things that are made by civilization) are rendered null and inoperable except for the bio-energy of the planet. If my theory is correct, then the Sparagmos engines sap the bio-energy directly from the planet itself, which may be considered a sin in the circles of the higher eldritch deities. It's probably why we have a True Hound of Tindalos here guarding the untainted engine. So what if we told this hound that There exists a Sparagmos engine that has been corrupted by Mother? To guard the engine may be its true purpose, but we don't really NEED the Engine's power. All we need is the guardian that guards it. And lets ask the hound, how many visitors have been to this place aside from our group?
>>3343603(I adjusted my monitor, so I can see things just fine. I appreciate your concern, Anon.)
>>3343650im not sure that is true, the energy thing i mean. issue is im not sure we have run across a powerplant or even a battery, as we woke up two years in where things have already been looted to all hell and back. >>3343603im still of the opinion trying to lure it into a hard hitting trap, rather than hoping our actions keep it reoccupied, is the better option. mine also leaves everyone but Dorian(after his doubly enhanced movement dodge) close together to defend eachother and keep attention off Amara/ not leaving her open to get too as much.ths issue is, if its fast/strong enough, spreading ourselves out too thin will leave it too many gaps to push through, and while im all for trying to blind it and perhaps go for its mouth next turn, if we wrap up its head we would also temporarily keep its own tongue in check. i suppose im trying to say you hope to distract it and keep it too busy to move, im worried with us so far apart, regardless of trying to harass it, it will jsut rush out an opening in our thin lines and either rush down a single target or fully escape our encirclement to take up a better position outside of it, an issue we will not have if it has already gone for us and we simply turn where it wishes to be against it.(in game turns, we make it waste an ACT rushing us and springing a trap in mine, in yours it has not yet use an ACT movement and thus still has an escape method.)
>>3342983Let me try something first peeps. A thought has occurred to me. And I want to try out this idea. I know it's probably an idea that shoots us in the foot in the long run (for those who really want to use this well hidden Sparagmos engine), but I think the long-term rewards are worth it.>Have our allies at the ready, if negotiations fail, the proceed with the battle plan. >channel waves of shame and guilt.>"I know that. Ancient Hound of Tindalos. We should not be here. We should not have been looking for this engine in the first place. The engine you guard is for good reason. I know what Mother did in the previous Crucible.">"Something has happened. There is a Sparagmos Engine to the west. Underneath a mansion in the middle of the forest. It's been corrupted. Twisted. A thing has been using it to malevolent use, Tossing daughters into it to form Gemstones of some kind. For its own selfish use.">Channel Anger and rage, show it to the hound in order to gain tactical empathy. >"I wish I could show you what I saw. How I felt. I hated it, Karma wants it destroyed. I want it destroyed. If you saw what I saw down there you would be sure to go into a frothing rage.">"But I'm not strong enough. My friends aren't strong enough.">"We need your help.">"Help us take down the corrupted guardian that's using that engine, help us destroy that infernal corrupted engine. And we will leave you and this engine alone to be forgotten."
>>3343692Didn't Karma say Mother put the hound here though? I just cant see a minion of mother caring.
>>3343719It's worth a shot, on the off chance that this was from another entity other than Mother. But that could be me. I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking.
on a random note. i kinda wanna give Amara the contender at some point, because im very curious what the hell it would fire in a skintalkers hands. or...would it just become like, a microphone or something?and no, im not against giving a kid a gun, at least in this world.
>>3343790On that train of thought, I think now's the perfect time for Shu to hand Amara the Karma gun. unfortunately, it's a bit too late for proper acclimation.
>>3343818yeah, shame it gets locked in per session, so its gonna be awhile before we could hand it off anyways. just an idea for the future is all
>>3343818>>3343790I'm of the opinion to never hand over Karma to anyone, ever. Karma evolves the more she's used In our grip, or actually It would be more accurate to say that *we* attune to *her* as time goes on, and are able to use more of their power as we become accustomed to each other. I'd rather maintain that growth at all times In order to Increase the contenders base effectiveness as well as forms and specialty ammunition at our disposal.
>>3343829eh, i get that, but to be fair, if we ever were gonna hand it off, handing the powerful ranged weapon over to the girl who should never take any hit at all, thus never be even close to melee range, is probably the one to hand it to.im willing to let Amara use it once or twice personally, just for the sheer curiosity aspect of it. plus, Shu honestly will not be hindered by not having it, obviously its a major asset but she wont notice it gone anywhere near as much as others will notice the boon of having it i think.
>>3342983Oh fuck, make sure to remind ourselves not to go near any acute angles or corners, if this thing is like a normal Tindalos Hound.>>3343603Backing this, probably the best bet.
Whew, finally caught up. Thanks for the great quest BHOP, I'm loving it. You even got me playing DDS.>>3343001>>3343025Supporting these. Let's get a better feel for this thing before we do anything risky.
>>3344229(Welcome, I'm so glad you've enjoyed it so far and I'm happy you spoke up! I hope you like what's coming up, and thank you for reading.)
(Voting closed Gentlemen, and I shall resume writing shortly.)
(Gentlemen, I appear to be in error. Due to Amara's passive, Shu has a Swarmling limit of 22 for this fight. My apologies, and I shall correct this on the next post.)
>>3344852BHOP, with this update of information, I would like to raise the amount of swarmlings spawned from 9 to 12 to reach Swarm cap. Is this acceptable for you?
>>3344858(By all means, I wanted to give you the opportunity to do so.)
>>3342983You’ve just sent the plan across the empathic channel when the Tindalos surges forwards with an incredible burst of speed. A veritable fleet of swarmlings explode from your hive, their screaming wings echoing within the confines of the cistern. They move as one, gleaming claws tearing forwards with greater haste than ever before, and you send up a silent thank-you to the knightly children’s toy you had the forethought to summon beforehand. The crescendo of a cicada’s deafening symphony drown out Amara’s words at your side, and you watch as the ground underneath the hound transforms from dense black shell to a sticky, bubblegum flesh. The hound’s blitzkrieg charge is slowed to a loping gait, every step a fight to free itself from the field of cloying flesh as Amara giggles at its antics.A pair of knights, clad in glossy black and blindingly white suits of chitinous armor, race past you to either side of the angular hound. Dorian flings out one aqueous arm, snagging one of the Engine’s spires and yanking himself past the beast. You’re loading a B.33 Special into the Contender when he lets go, transforming his two limbs into a quartet of shifting talons and raking them across one side of the creature’s face. It opens its mouth, a long, metallic tongue reaching out to lash at its aggressor as Dorian sails past, and that’s when you take your shot. The demure little pop that sounds belies Karma’s insidious payload, the little black-and-yellow round darting forwards and into the Tindalos’ maw. It spears into its snaking tongue just as your brood finds purchase in the multitude of eye sockets of one side of the hound’s face. The agonized howl it emanates tears forth, slicing across your heart and mind as it rears up, pawing at its face as Julia strikes while the iron is hot. With a powerful, singular sweep of her leg just above the bright tar, she tears one leg out from underneath it and then twists mid-air, giving it a second vicious kick in the hip, sending it tumbling helplessly into the hot-pink mire. It levels a glare of pure, unbridled fury at you from the one side of its face that isn’t gored by your brood before it goes perfectly still. Wordlessly, you feel it reach into your very being, your existence touched something ancient and clever. And then it disappears completely.(Continued)
>>3344947You barely have time to process what just happened when it leaps from behind the Engine, claws extended at Dorian. Talon meets talon with a resounding clang, the beast’s longer nails slicing along Dorian’s plated armor. Confusion bursts across the channel from your allies as you turn towards Amara’s trap, the indentations of the hound’s paw prints still in the muck. Something about you feels…restored. You search your connection to realize your stinging swarm is nowhere to be found, though your allies’ armor still holds and your Knight-class creation still hovers protectively by your youngest teammate. The now-bladed Contender is heavy in your hand, an unfired round still wriggling in the chamber. You watch Dorian fend off a series of relentless attacks with impressive skill, and even as her works to protect himself he’s still trying to bait it closer to Amara’s altered ground. Its canine face is intent upon its foe, two sets of eyes focused upon……two? You see its face clearly, now. Both sets of eyes are wholly intact, though a trio of deep crimson lines are still etched across its face from Dorian’s skillful maneuver. In any case, the alabaster knight is holding his own in close combat with something several times his size, but you’re not sure for how long he’ll be able to maintain a stalemate.HP: 100%BIO: 87% (8 Platelings, 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz, 9/22 Active)CONTENDER: B.33 Loaded, Lion Heart Form.RAVENOUS MAW: Primed and Ready.ACT: 2/2THREAT: Long, in melee with Dorian. 2 Stacks of Malleable Skin.AMARA HP: 50% (Cloaked)DORIAN HP: 102% (Armored)JULIA HP: 160% (Ignition Gauntlets Equipped, Armored)YOU ARE IN CONTROL
>>3344948(Please also note that Dorian and Julia are still hastened by Amara, and that shifted them up in the turn order.)
>>3344948So what insight did Julia get from striking the hound? Also, doggo is very clever. He teleported to get rid of the Swarmlings.Also. hmm.... It appears that the turn order for this combat goes like this from first to last:>Hound Act 1>Shu Act 1>Amara Act 1-3>Dorian Act 1-2>Hound Act 2>Shu Act 2>Julia Act 1-2>Hound Act 3
(Voting to close in two hours, Gentlemen.)>>3344965 #(Julia will tell you next round, as it is more difficult to interpret the feelings of something that is not a Daughter.)
>>3344970Did the B.33 Special round get purged by the Hound teleporting or is it still wiggling in the dog's mouth?
>>3344970Room layout please. Location of the Hound in the room, and where is everyone in relation to the distance from the Hound?
>>3344970>>3344965Is the current turn order like this correct?
>>3344973(It has been returned to the Contenders barrel and your newly-made swarmlings have been refunded by the Tindalos' ability.)>>3344976(Long distance to the Engine, and the Hound and Dorian are fighting there. You, Amara, and Julia are still close to the rooms entrance, a long distance from the fight. Room is a massive, perfect circle with the Engine at the center. Amara's bubblegum trap is still occupying a medium space between you and the room's center, but it is easy to navigate around it.)>>3344977(This is correct.)
>>3344983Huh. So the Bullets and Bees were returned but the Malleable Skin stacks stay...Interesting.>>3344983Do the limbs that Dorian makes in critic form stay when he changes forms?
>>3344983Is there a way to De-spawn a bullet? or reconfigure it to a different ammo type?
>>3344983>(It has been returned to the Contenders barrel and your newly-made swarmlings have been refunded by the Tindalos' ability.)>Both sets of eyes are wholly intactThis fucking dog just pulled a Bites the Dust. If it can rewind anything we do to it but Malleable Skin stacks stay, then our best bet is to have Gina be our win condition. He can't rewind his injuries if he's fucking dead. It might also have a cooldown on using it, so we might be able to play around that too. I got no game plan here, but I think we should close the distance but recall Dorian to regroup - we need to all in the dog.
>>3344989(If he shifts into a different form then he loses the claws, but if you shift back into his Critic form then he will regain them if they were intact when he switched forms.)>>3345000(You may convert it back into 10% BIO to generate another round, but it cannot otherwise be switched out.)
>>3344948Did it just rewind time??? Or was it just King Crimson Erasing the event of us shooting it? Doesn't really matter, I guess, since we're gonna kill it.I vote to try and stack Malleable Skin as many times as we can. If it refunds the Contender shot, might as well just use it again to annoy the Dog.Everyone else should just keep attacking it.
>>3345011Ah, good. >>3344983Battle plan in this turn-order:Hound Act 1: Will most likely attack Dorian.Dorian:>Free action: Canvas Form. The hound's faster than you, but reflexively go into Canvas form and try to evade or soak up any attacks it tries to throw at you.Shu:>Act 1: Spawn 2 Cicadalings, 4 Subversive Banelings, and 4 basic swarmlings. Banelings will attach themselves onto the Hound's legs and inject their acid into the Calf and thigh muscles. Cicadalings will generally screen Amara's wordcasting and just Harass the hound by flying in front of its face, don't have the Cicadalings and banelings land on the hound, otherwise the hound will simply teleport to purge and reposition. Basic Swarmlings will disperse and hover menacingly. Amara:>Act 1-2: VUL RHO. Doggie going to cheat by playing hide and sneak. Your magic spells will make it harder for doggie to cheat.>Act 3: Move up. FuzzBuzz will accompany you.Dorian:>Act 1: Give the dog a bone to chew with. or choke with. After the Hound's first attack, Transform into Creator Mode and make a paint familiar with an eye-sore neon color. Have it literally crawl into its mouth and gum it up so that it can't use the tongue or bite with it. Dogs will be more inclined to eat bright colors.>Act 2: Keep on baiting it. Stay in Canvas Form.Hound Act 2: Probably a reposition via teleporting or spending a turn to rid its mouth of the paint familiar. Or keep attacking Dorian.Shu>Act 2: Reposition and get to Dorian. Stay with Amara. Convert the B.33 Special into the Herculean Fullbore. If it's going to Teleport and refund the Bio we throw at it, we're going to make it PAY. Julia: >Act 1: Move up with Amara and Shu>Act 2: Ready an action for a counterattack.Hound Act 3: He's probably going to Reposition via teleporting again and purge itself of the paint in its mouth. Or go for another member in the party.

(Writing now, Gentlemen. Would everyone be alright with starting an evening of rapid posting starting in approximately four hours' time?)
>>3344948Dorian continues to weather the Hound’s relentless assault, shifting his four talons into a singular shield that helps deflect that majority of the blows, even as his armor is being sliced away, sliver by sliver. Your second (or first) battalion of the fight tears their way free, surging forth on bladed wings to assist Dorian’s valiant efforts against the furiously focused Tindalos. Its tongue slashes around its face to rid itself of your harassing brood, but even as the razor-sharp leash should be tearing them from the air, they continue unabated, heedless of the damage the Hound attempts to inflict. Between its furious howl and the constant din of your swarm, Amara’s incantation is almost lost in the noisy haze. It proves effective regardless, as you watch the Hound’s skin balloon out, its movement markedly sluggish as its barrage slows. The Knight-class follows your ally as she inches forwards, and Dorian sees his chance through your swarm. His shield dissipates as he dodges backwards, flinging a blob of paint directly into the creature’s open maw. It aggressively clings to its mark, keeping the Hound’s mouth shut and the dreaded tongue unusable. Dorian’s shield comes back up as you run to join his side around the blindingly pink section of flesh. The Hound rears up as you approach, looming over Dorian…and when you blink, it’s gone. You sense movement just behind you, and you turn in time to see it towering over you, feet planted in the neon mire as it brings its talons down on your unarmored frame. You think Julia screams your name when the air shimmers before you, Amara having looped back and thrust herself between you and the looming beast, her shawl falling to the side in her haste. Incredibly, unexpectedly……the Hound pulls back. All four paws are now firmly in the mire as you and Julia seize the moment. You yank Amara behind you and swing the Contender up to the beast’s face. It’s caught flat-footed in its aborted attempt to ambush you, and when you squeeze the trigger Karma’s roar drowns out all else. The round tears a bloody hole in its shoulder as Julia leaps, landing a one-two punch into its other forelimb before kicking off, landing clear of the muck. A sudden realization flares across the empathic channel.“I g-get it, now! It doesn’t want to hurt the p-pup!” Julia says, shaking her head before she corrects herself. “Child, I m-mean child!”You don’t have time to process this as the Tindalos blinks out of existence once more, reappearing back near the Engine. >>3345195Well then. This is unexpected. Why am I reminded of SCP-682 and SCP-083?the hound didn't know Amara was cloaked in the skin shroud. And it has a soft spot for children.I'm now befuddled on what to do. If it's intent on guarding the Engine, We could simply have everyone walk around the engine and go for the secondary loot.
(Voting to close in one and a half hours, Gentlemen.)
Now that I think about it, it really is a guard dog in every sense. The hound ranks its objectives by the following:>Who is the closest to the engine.>Who attacked it last.>It cannot attack Non-hostiles.>Those who enter the room are marked as potential hostiles. In the First round, it teleports to Dorian (who was the closest to the engine)Then in this round, it tried to attack Shu (She sent swarmlings to attack it this round, and shot it with the gun.)Julia and Amara weren't attacked because A) they both weren't openly hostile, and B) They didn't get close to the Engine in that round.
>>3345239Yikes. Looks like no-one's home except for me and BHOP
>>3345294(It looks like it. Since things are a little slow at current, I'll leave voting open from now for another two hours, and see where things stand at that time.)
>>3345294Hey, Im here two! I just fell asleep, a little.>>3345303I think we should keep up with the debuffs, and make sure whoever attacks last is ready to dodge.
I have something of a plan, but it depends on how a mechanic works.BHOP, if Dorian switches to Canvass Form, will his Creator Form blob dissolve or can he just not make more?
>>3345303what happened to our banelings?
Maybe we should start trying out Hundred-Handed to have our swarmlings grapple the hound to restrain it until it teleports again or to grab our allies and pull them out of the way of attacks as support.
>>3345483The hound "purges" itself of status conditions when it teleports. We had 7 swarmlings biting and stinging its face along with a B.33 special bullet in its mouth. Then it teleported and we found out that all the swarmlings and the bullet we spawned and shot at it, had refunded all of the bio back to us.The exceptions to the rule is the Herculean Fullbore thats somehow still inside the hound and the malleable skin stacks that Julia has placed on it.
>>3345008>>3345043I'd like to offer another hypothesis.>>3345483Reminder that, at our current level, that requires that our swarmlings are in contact with us. Speaking of which, if the dog dies at the end, I'd like to level Hundred-Handed to see if we can get remote hand spawns. You know, I bet if we had Amara with us when we were consuming Hecaton, we could have eventually just had the Hana Hana no Mi using biomass after combining skill trees.
>>3345479(My apologies, I assumed you had wished to spawn a host of two Cicadalings and the remaider to be simple swarmlings per >>3345087.)>>3345462(Dorian's creation will stay active.)
>>3345509it's still fine.
>>3345509Thanks!Alright, here's the plan:>>3345195>Amara should hasten her allies again, first of all.>Next, since Dorian can switch forms and keep the blob active (it's important that the tongue doesn't get free), he should switch to Canvass Form.>I don't know exactly how his and Shu's speeds and positions stack up, but he should use his enhanced movement and Shu should use her tongue to get out of the chamber. If one of them is able to help the other, they should do so, and if either can, Dorian should on account of his defense.>Julia should rush to Amara and keep Amara between her and the Tindalos and apply Malleable Skin to herself as many times as she is permitted so she can use it for armor.>Insofar as it can be done without expending more actions, Amara and Shu should both be trying to use their respective abilities to calm the Tindalos.[This is all to set up for next turn, where Julia sticks around to protect Amara while she and Shu try to calm the Tindalos and Dorian returns to Creator Form to make more blobs for defensive purposes.]
>>3345535I think the Hound is more content to wait things out anon. I've already listed its main objectives >>3345271, and it's a clever boi. I don't think Amara should use any spells to buff the party. Also. I do have to ask. Why are we here fighting this hound? It seems a bit of a moot point that we're trying to use a machine that Mother once used to win the crucible, corrupted machine or not. We'd be no different than Mother if we kill the hound and use the machine for our selfish gain.
(Voting is closed, Gentlemen. Writing now.)
>>3345559I think you missed that the goal of what I wrote was to nonviolently get to a state where doggo wasn't a threat so we could try to talk things out.I totally agree that doggo is probably a good boi and just needs some help realizing we don't need to be enemies.
>>3345195"I want to try talking to it one more time, Miss Shu!" Amara says from behind you as your team stares at the waiting beast. You round on her, and you're met with a pair of determined two-tone eyes. "Please? If you and Mister Dorian get away a little, I think it'll calm down.""Amara, this isn't a game, we don't have time to talk things out with something that..." You begin, but you're cut off."Please!" She insists. "Look at it, it's just sitting there! This thing isn't a monster...and I feel like I can talk to it, Miss Shu."You turn back to the Hound, lurking behind the engine, its focus trained not on the warrior who kept it at bay with claws of crystal, not at you, who has dealt it the most wounds, but a little girl pleading for peace. You hope you don't regret this. You send out the new plan to everyone present, and the creature seems purplexed when Dorian backs up and away from the creature, his guard up. You and he return to the edge of the cistern, leaving Julia and Amara alone at the far edge of her hot-pink creation. You're too far away to be of any immediate help if things go south, even as your hive vibrates with nervous tension, as you watch Dorian begin to spawn a number of paint familiars to..."Why are you trying to hur^^<>/<\^^</>\>\>\..." Amara begins, the rest of her voice unintelligible as it slashes across your mind. The Tindalos perks up at her sudden change of voice, padding forwards two steps around the side of the engine, its mass of eyes trained on the little girl. Julia keeps a hand on Amara's shoulders, ready to pull her back at the slightest shift in posture, the mere hint of aggression...but the hound seems more curious than anything, intoning an angular, almost melodically baying sound. Amara starts hopping up and down in place, turning to you excitedly. She opens her mouth and your mind explodes with an impossible message. Too much, too quickly in a language you cannot hope to understand."Amara, just...slow down, okay? I can't...you're not making any sense." You plead, and she seems wholly unaware of the shift in her speech as she cocks her head at you, and opens her mouth once more."^<\<^>/^<>^\<>/<<e thinks we were here to use the Engine!" Additionally, if there's anything the dog wants (to have, to be, to accomplish) other than preventing people from using the Engine. Also, I don't think we'll get a great answer, but it would be neat if he could try to explain his powers to us, since they're a bit different in kind from most of what we've run into. Also, since Shu is useless right now, she can ask Karma what she thinks of the situation, or of any information that might be helpful in Tindalos diplomacy.Dorian can keep making blobs and Julia can try using biomass to fashion a present for the Tindalos if anything in the conversations strikes her (of course, Dorian can also help with this).
>>3345778I think that that was Amara going rogue because she's more concerned with people getting along than she is with quest objectives.
>>3345714Backing >>3345779We need information most of all.
I get the feeling that the Tindalos might be sympathetic to us if we tell it that we're trying to stop someone else from using a corrupted Engine, but we should wait until we know more about its motivations before mentioning that.
>>3345714Oh boy. a golden moment of diplomacy. Okay. Amara's our translator. We're putting our trust in a child. So Here I think are the main points that we have to tell the hound.>"I'm very sorry about hurting you. We didn't want to use the engine in the first place but something happened that made us consider having to find one.">"There is an Engine to the west. It's in the middle of a forest hidden underneath a mansion. Someone's been abusing the engine. The engine itself has been corrupted. The Guardian there has been using it for its own selfish use.">"We're not strong enough to both take down the corrupted guardian and destroy the engine.">"We also don't know how to destroy an engine."Then give the doggo a proposal.>"If you can help us, that would be wonderful. In exchange, we'll destroy this engine too, or leave you and this engine alone. Should it satisfy you.">>3345778If we use the engine, we wouldn't be any different than MOTHER. Besides, there's more than one way to destroy an engine. We could always go to the forge. We're currently trying to find a way to get stronger without using the engine which is what the Hound doesn't want us to do. So my reasoning is that if we can't use the engine to be strong enough to kill the guardian AND destroy the engine, why not recruit the Hound to kill the guardian and then use the forge to destroy the engine? or if the Hound does know how to destroy the engine, we can both use its power and our powers combined to destroy the engine.
>>3345819Wasn't there also a hidden treasure room? Considering it's so near the Engine, it might be relevant to our plans. It might also just be a random Relic, but it's worth making sure.
>>3345714>Have Julia make a skin canvas and Dorian paint it to make a powerpoint presentation aid on our situation. >Slide 1: Spooky mansion, surrounded by a forest. Down below, a cross section showing the basement where the engine and the corrupted guardian sits>Slide 2: Show Engine being tainted and the Guardian throwing a helpless Amara into the engine.>Slide 3: No more amara, Gemstone remaining. Guardian grabs gemstone with a face that shows COMPLETELY EVIL.>Slide 4: A picture of Shu, Dorian, Julia, and Amara looking weak against the corrupted guardian.>Slide 5: A picture of shu, Dorian, Julia, Amara, and the Hound in fighting poses against Corrupted Guardian. The Corrupted Guardian looks frightened.>Slide 6: A Happy group of Shu, Dorian, Julia, Amara, and Hound dancing on top of a Dead Corrupted guardian and a broken/destroyed engine.>>3345847Well, I'm not sure how to add that in to our diplomacy with doggo. We need more information from the doggo.
>>3345714>>3345819I like the idea of trying to recruit the Tindalos, at least for the short term.>>3345787We might want to tell warn Amara that diplomacy won't always work out, if only so she doesn't put herself in harms way. It sets a dangerous precedent if the first enemy she encounters is just willing to stop fighting so easily.
>>3345867>We might want to tell warn Amara that diplomacy won't always work out, if only so she doesn't put herself in harms way. It sets a dangerous precedent if the first enemy she encounters is just willing to stop fighting so easily.Well, remember that part of why she stopped is from understanding that the dog didn't really want to fight. I think she's perfect for our Fool's Choice route.>>3345865We could just mention that we know there's another item nearby and ask if it could be helpful (or if we can examine it to see if it would be helpful)
>>3345885I was thinking more about amalgams, things that can't normally be reasoned with. Although, with her in the party that might change.
>>3345714>>3345885>Have Amara tell the hound, that aside from the engine, we're also here for a hidden item that's just beyond the engine room. But we don't know what it is or if it's helpful.
>>3345714Amara listens intently as you feed her questions, turning around and lending her voice to them as she informs the Tindalos of your intent. It sits patiently, its tail glitching back and forth as it listens to Amara's explanation, and it perks up considerably when you tell it about the Corrupted Engine. It seems perplexed when Julia and Dorian use their power in tandem to create a pictograph of your goals, and while you're not entirely certain if it gets the point across, you can tell you have its attention. You, Julia, and Dorian plug your ears when it replies, for all the good it does. Amara just listens intently, nodding on occasion with her hands held primly behind her back. After a few moment, she turns to you, her voice returning to normal after a few sharp syllables."The doggo says she was to protect the Engine from Daughters that wanted to use it. If she did, then Mother would let her sisters live free in the Cord, but if she breaks her promise then her sisters will be thrown out of the cycle." Amara says, her face breaking out into a wide grin. "She also says Mother was kinda vague on which Engine to protect, so that's the lope-hoe she's been looking for!""L-loop-hole?" Julia corrects, and Amara nods enthusiastically. You tense up a moment when the creature rises, padding away from you and into the darkness behind the black spires. Noting your collective concern, Amara speaks up."Don't worry! She says she'll be right back, she's going to get the treasure I saw!" (Continued)
>>3346001Well then. It seems that Daughters aren't the only ones that are at the mercy of MOTHER.
>>3346001You'd by lying if you didn't almost scream when the Hound reappears a few yards away from you, emerging from nothing with something balanced on the tip of what you assume to be it's snout. It drops the treasure before you, revealing it to be a disembodied arm of a Daughter. You think what you see is at first a trick of the light, but as you examine the limb closer you find it is rapidly decaying and regenerating, vacillating back and forth between a pristine, Calcite-armored forearm and a threadbare ulna, and back again."She says it's a token from Goodwill!" Amara says as you stare at the shifting limb at your feet. "Why...why would she keep something like this?" Dorian breathes as he stands beside you."It's chewy!" Amara exclaims in understanding, as you lean down and examine the disembodied limb.>>TEMPORAL REMAINS (Forge Item): The arm of a Calcite Armorer that has spent too long in the presence of a Tindalos, this surprisingly dense limb boasts a compact amount of Calcite and self-regenerating properties. When used at a Forge of Tier 2 or higher, adding the limb to a crafting recipe grants 70% Calcite Bio towards the cost of the item, as well as imbuing it with a Passive Regen modifier appropriate to the creation in question. Considering a dog gave you it's bone...you're kind of honored. You stare up at the bizarre beast as it looks down at you"While she's sad she doesn't know how to destroy the Engine, she says she'll be happy to help you defeat the Guardian if she can say she's protecting the bad machine after you destroy it! That way she keeps up her end of the bargain!" Amara explains, and you find yourself chuckling. "Mother always though her and her sisters were kinda silly and dumb, but she thinks Mother was super-dumb for making the wording too simple!"Clever doggo.>>Have the Tindalos join you on your way back to the Sparagmos Engine with your current team. >>Regroup with Rath and Gina to swap out team-members before you return to finish what you started at Dorian's mansion, alongside the Hound.>>Ask further questions of your curious ally.>>Write-InYOU ARE IN CONTROL

>>3346028>Pet the doggo.Non-negotiable.Question: Considering the constant temporal paradox nature of the Doggie bone (I'm calling it that because having a Calcite arm as a forge item makes it weird), Is it reusable? I'd hate to have the Doggie bone disappear after being used as a forging catalyst. >>3346039What's the missing word in the sentence?
>>3346045(The Tindalos has willingly parted with it's bone, understanding that it may not see it again. If used in a Forge, then the item will be consumed.)(The first sentence of the post was supposed to be, "You'd be lying if you said you didn't almost scream..." and so forth, but ah well.)
>>3346028>>Regroup with Rath and Gina to swap out team-members before you return to finish what you started at Dorian's mansion, alongside the Hound.
>>3346028Pats for pups >>3346045>>Have the Tindalos join you on your way back to the Sparagmos Engine with your current team. And while we're hiking, ask if it knows anything about where its sisters are or how they're being held.
>>3346045We could always use the crafting process to immortalize it. For instance, we could make a big bone club that I'm sure Rath would love to use with her strength buff. She could also use it to propel her C4 boils like it's a baseball bat.
>>3345499Oh yeah, I sometimes forget about Part 7 stuff.
>>3346028>"Clever girl.">Ask the Doggo a question: "Do you have a name?">"Asides from your tongue and teleporting, do you know any other neat tricks?">Regroup, check up with Rath and Gina, Give Gina a hug. Rath's going to flip when she sees Amara riding on the back of a Hound of Tindalos. Also BHOP, are we going to take the time to do a bit of R&R for Dorian, Julia, Shu and the Hound? It won't make much sense to go straight to the mansion covered in wounds. Even if we're all eldritch people and heal passively in HP and BIO, we still need a mental breather.
>>3346140(You're more than welcome to go back and rest a while before heading out with your chosen party.)
>>3346140>>Ask the Doggo a question: "Do you have a name?"This is important. If the doggo doesn't remember, then I vote that we name her Ringo (>>3345499 pick related)>>3346117>Dual Tech: Explosive Slugger:Taking full advantage of her swarmling's sturdy shells, Shu has an acid swarmling line itself up for Rath, who strikes it with her Bone Club and Herculean Strength to sending it flying a great distance, exploding on impact wherever it lands. Though not the most precise strike, it has the most horizontal reach of anything the party has access to.
>>3346167As much as this is nice, wouldn't it be great if Rath and Julia had a Dual Tech together? Also, it's a girl. (as usual given the nature of the seeing), we need to give the Hound a girl name.
>>3346188I think everyone should, I just picked those two for that because it makes the most sense with Shu's swarmlings and Rath's power.Do you have any ideas for Julia and Rath? The only thing that immediately comes to mind for me is warping Phantom Limbs using Malleable Flesh.Duly noted on the name part. I always get confused on if they are actually female or just qualified for some other reason for the Crucible, but Amara would probably (?) use the correct pronouns since she can commune with the dog. My mistake.
>>3346028Awwww, It IS a good doggy!>>3346045Backing this, also, we should go kill the fucked up Guardian with Tindalos, maybe we can come up with another loophole for using a machine?
>>3346188>>3346207I think Ringo is a fine name for a girl.
>>3346207I'm thinking something similar to a tag team barrage, invoking Jojo and Fist of the North Star. Julia attacks her target, using Malleable flesh to Mark key weak points on the enemy. Then Rath comes in and goes ORAORAORAORA using a combination of her Tensile Strands and her Phantom Limbs hitting those marked points for massive damage. Now the problem that I'm having now is coming up with a name for the technique.
>>3346235This makes me wonder if Malleable Flesh could ever be used to root an opponent to the ground (by warping their feet, etc. so that they act like roots). If that could happen, then Julia could turn them into a punching bag for Rath's ORAORA.
>>3346252Thought of a technique name for it. The name's going to be a homage to the Fist of the North Star technique naming: Hyaku nomi to Ken (translation: "Hundred chisels and fists")
>>3346028"Clever girl." You say with a smile, holding your ground when the Tindalos leans down to inspect you. "Could you ask her name? And does she mind if I, uh..."You reach out tentatively, and to your surprise the hound practically thrusts its nose into your hand, allowing you to pet its rough, shark-like skin. "She and her sisters don't use names..." Amara replies dejectedly, and you decide to rectify that."How does she like Ringo?" You ask, and after a short dialogue between the small child and the gangly beast, she gives you a thumbs' up and a wide grin. "So, does Ringo know any other cool tricks?""She says she can connect with someone to reverse wounds they've caused on her in a past few seconds, along with all the stuff they used to hurt her!""That's fascinating!" Dorian says, marveling at the Tindalos' eyes, his own bright blue one sparkling with curiosity. "How does she do it?""I dunno, it just works!" Amara replies with a shrug, turning to look at the engine with a curious expression."Rev." She says absent-mindedly, and she seems just as surprised as you are when the bubblegum floor returns to a sleek, glossy black almost instantly."Amara sweetie, w-what did you j-just do?" Julia asks, kneeling down next to the excited girl."I don't know, but I like it!" She says, biting her lower lip in anticipation, like she just got a brand new toy. "I got the idea from looking at the Engine!">>LEXICON UPDATED - REV>>REV (Bio-5%): A word indicating a reversal of fortune, it causes the word following it to have its effects reversed."Alright, let's head back to Julia's house." You say, gingerly picking up the severed arm on the floor and rising to face your allies. "We'll rest up, gear up, and destroy that god-awful Engine for good."(Continued)
>>3346303You might be underselling Rath's reaction to Amara strolling back home on the back of a lumbering Tindalos, but you're pretty sure the red-head soiled herself with a mixture of joy and pride. Despite having only been apart for a short time, you find yourself relieved when you set eyes on Gina, running towards you, her brown hair flying behind her as she runs up and practically leaps into your arms. The seven of you, Ringo included, quickly debrief with some choice interpretation from Julia, who sits atop the massive Hound as you all talk outside. Julia brings out tea for everyone, and Rath almost loses it when Ringo takes a tentative sip from Amara's cup. It's a pleasant feeling, when you're all together like this...even if it is in prelude to a battle against someone or something that has been slowly accumulating strength for who knows how long. The thing that guards the Sparagmos Engine, the thing that's seen fit to sacrifice countless Daughters to its inner workings in pursuit of power...you've resolved to put an end to it.The only question is who you intend to drag with you into the mansion's hellish depths.HP: 100%BIO: 190% (8 Platelings, 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz, 2 Cicadas, 10 Swarmlings, 21/22 Active) CONTENDER: Empty, Lion Heart FormRAVENOUS MAW: Primed, Ready.ACT: 2/2TEAM: Fully Healed.>>Compose your team>>Locked Members: Shu, Ringo. (Gentlemen, voting shall remain open for one and a half hours, and the next post shall close out the evening.)
>>3346303>"I dunno, it just works!"
>>3346351>>Write-In anything you wish to do before departing for Dorian's mansion.I don't even particularly care about the composition, but we absolutely need to take full advantage of Shu being able to prepare her swarm ahead of time. If no one else votes, then let's say Shu converts five normal ones into banelings, 4 into recursive drill swarmlings (which then combine), and spawns two more platelings. May as well leave one slot open in case we want a scout. If anyone disagrees about the specific changes, I'll just defer to them, I just want us to be sure and be prepared somehow.Beyond that, do we need Gina and/or Amara to effectively communicate with out Tindalos?Because the Engine is underground, Gina's terrain warping is really powerful. Because it's an enclosed space, Rath's explosives and tensile wire are also much more powerful.I say we leave Amara with Julia. Julia is melee-only, so the giant might have an advantage on her. Plus, since she has much more raw power than Dorian, who is clearly a team player, she is more able to protect Amara back at base.So the three I vote we take are>>Rath, Gina, and Dorian
>>3346351>Rath, Dorian, Amara. The team comp will be mostly focused on mobility for defense and mobile damage. Shu Rath, and Ringo will be dealing the damage.Amara's spellcasting will help hinder the enemy or mitigate the damage. Dorian's fluidity will enable the team to have an active defense as well as a fluid attack mode.Rath's a primary damage dealer. A flashy loud mouth who can dish out damageRingo, the teleporting doggo. a good boi. Question: If Amara casts REV THA on an ally who got hit by a devastating attack, does it reverse the damage?
>>3346413(It would not, I'm afraid. REV is used specifically to modify ability-based words or those of other Skintalkers. The current words that are reversible are RHO, SAN, and SUTH.)
>>3346435And those reversed are basically: Unwarp, Slow, and Agitate, right?
>>3346438(Precisely.)
>>3346435Still a useful ability. >REV SAN VUL: Casts Slow on the Giant amalgam, make it lose one ACT for a few rounds>REV RHO THA: I'm not sure how to interpret this, REV imposing on RHO would mean aiding instead of imposing hardship, so would it give allies a Strength buff instead of an armor buff? Or is it a reversal on a status debuff on an ally turning it from a debuff into a buff? BHOP what's your opinion on this? I know the interpretation is flexible, but it somewhat perplexes me.
>>3346451Depending on how liberal the application is, it might be able to un-transform a daughter who had, for example, Calcite growths.
>>3346435So wait, would REV SUTH be a direct-damage spell, or would it just be a debuff of some kind?
>>3346413>>3346413Don't you think It's a bit risky to take Amara? She's only got 50 HP, I'd hate for a stray hit In what Is going to be an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FIGHT to kill her off.My vote for party comp Is Gina, Rath, and Julia. Gina has good sensory abilities and strong Neuromancy powersRath Is an obvious powerhouse for damage at any rangeJulia Is strong and could utterly devastate the thing If we set up her Artisan's peak critical hit.The only downside Is that Dorian and Amara are somewhat weak by themselves, and an alternative to that would be swapping Dorian for Rath In the party, She'd be able to protect Amara and He'd be able to at least tank to some degree with some armor on.
>>3346451(As far as REV RHO THA, it would reverse the status ailments of allies to some degree. For example, if Rath were to be imposed with Malleable Flesh stacks, instead of her stats being debuffed for each stack, she would receive an increase to her attack power and regeneration, instead.)(Additionally, >>3346462's interpretation of its effects would work as well, since the a specific growth or buff on a foe could be reversed.)>>3346465(It would essentially work as an aggro spell, disrupting concentration and promoting anger and discord in an individual. It would also work well against Daughters that specifically have to maintain focus to use their powers, such as Necromancers and some subclasses of Generators.)
>>3346474>Necromancers>In a body horror setting.Oh dear. Do they manipulate Skeletons or do they actually specialize in Dead flesh? Nevermind the twisted girls who are into necrophilia. Also, I get the feeling that "traditional fantasy" Necromancers (instead of BodyHorror Necromancers) in this setting would have a fucking field day on a planet like this. Endless flesh and bone to manipulate and study.
>>3346473We had similar answers [ >>3346405 ], the one thing that I'd want to reiterate is that it seems like there's a very good chance that this is a bad matchup for Julia. We're against a giant foe who might be able to pick her up and then just toss her into the Engine. Dorian at least can harass with his blobs at a distance while also being able to tank a bit better than Amara.Amara's best use would be causing a speed disparity, but in this case Dorian is just as able to achieve that as she is.
>>3346480(My apologies, I meant Neuromancers. You'd think my computer would have caught on by now what I'm trying to spell.)Though you're on the right track.
>>3346405(I missed the question about Ringo earlier. Shu will be able to communicate her plans without any trouble, as intent can be sent along the empathic channel. They would have a difficult time having a conversation, though.)
>>3346491So you're saying Tindalos speak can't be translated even with Gina's neuromancy cord translation? Or is Tindalos speak the antithesis of neuromancy talk?
>>3346500(The Tindalos, as per your original interaction with some corrupted members of their species, do not play well with neural connections. Gina would suffer no feedback due to the effect of her skill tree, but they are by and far resistant to Neuromancy effects.)
>>3346481I was concerned with breaking either of the two 'newbies' Into a fight that could very well end up with someone dead. No one's even leveled since we last ran away from this encounter, the only difference Is we've got our fourth party member now (whomever It ends up being) and our bonus party member Ringo (Who may very well end up being the MVP).>>3346405I can get behind your team-composition. I'm not sure the giant will be able to Instant-kill like you think, but It wouldn't hurt to play things safe either. Really as long as we aren't taking Amara I'm fine with It. Girl needs levels to not be squish ASAP.
>>3346405Backing.
>>3346507>I was concerned with breaking either of the two 'newbies' Into a fight that could very well end up with someone dead.I do totally agree with you. That's why I said Dorian would hang back and use blobs. There is almost no foreseeable circumstance where him going into Critic Form is a good idea.>I'm not sure the giant will be able to Instant-kill like you think, but It wouldn't hurt to play things safe either.I mostly mentioned it as a worst case scenario since the giant did toss another girl in there. I think it's more likely that the giant can just brute force her since she's more about speed, which gets deflated against reach + strength.
>>3346507One of these days, we are going to take Amara out on a field trip and have her powerlevel. Or give her scaleable bio-ability. But then again, with her current stats, she's so fragile. The issue I think we're having is that Skintalkers level up by exploring places and learning new words through their journeying experiences with their partners. And aside from the rare opportunity to consume a daughter and get a combat ability that scales, it's a hard knock life for them. And in Amara's personality and situation, I think having to stain her innocence by consuming a daughter would...I dunno, I can't finish the thought.
One last thing>>3346351If it goes through that Julia and Amara are staying back, we can invite them to use the Forge to make something out of the arm for part of the time that we're gone. Julia has some good BIO reserves, so she could use it both to craft and to barter with other Daughters for different classes of BIO. Also, she's one of our artisans, and probably the single best crafter we currently have.Maybe drop a hint that Rath may enjoy a bone club.
>>3346405(A few questions about this write-in, if I may; the four simple swarmlings that you are re-working into recursive drill swarmlings, will you be combining them into one large swarmling?)(Additionally, if Dorian is keeping the armor he currently has equipped, do you wish to re-fit Julia's armor to either Rath or Gina?)
>>3346540(If you wish for Amara and Julia to venture to the Monastery to use the Forge, they certainly can.)
>>3346545I meant that they would form from 4 into 2 swarmlings, sorry for the ambiguity.Yes, I would say that Julia's armor should go to our other brawler, Rath. Thanks for catching my oversights.
>>3346545Refit armor to Rath, Gina gets the Shawl. >>3346550I'm thinking a combination of a bat or a hunting horn (Monster hunter Hunter horn). Using Calcite class, Flesh Artisan, and Skintalker BIO to make a club that can double as a musical horn that doots out skintalker buffs depending on the note played.
>>3346578I would amend note to melody, but I think that that's a delightful way to combine classes.>>3346351I'm backing club horn as the item that we suggest to Julia and Amara.
>>3346578>>3346550>>3346540Can we save using the bone use in the Tier 3 forge? As much as I would like to have it made now, it feels kind of a waste to craft it at the Tier 1 Forge. Especially when you look at the Regenerative effects it has.
>>3346560(It's not trouble at all, I appreciate it when you all catch things I've missed. So if I understand you correctly, your final number of swarmlings would close to as follows; 10 Platelings, 5 Banelings, 2 Large Recursive Drillings, 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz, 18/18 Active - Please also note that your Swarmling maximum is back down to its baseline of 18 when Amara leaves the party. Feel free to edit this as you wish.)(And lastly, who shall wear the Ignition Gauntlets?)
>>3346405This
>>3346602(Ah, I almost forgot; you can also pre-load a round into the Contender, should you wish. My apologies for the bevy of questions, I just wanted you all to be prepared to your satisfaction before you engage the enemy.)
>>3346602Can we do one to Dorian one to Shu?>>3346607B.33 Special
>>3346611(You may absolutely split them between party members, if you wish.)
>>3346602Ah, yes, I forgot about Amara's buff. Yes, I'm fine with those numbers. And Rath can take the Ignition Gauntlets.I have a question, >>3346595 raises a valid point. If we forge something now, can we improve it at a higher-level Forge later?
>>3346602Dorian. Gauntlets might not be his style, but this will up his DPS and aid greatly in surprising the enemy. Shu already has lots of things in her kit. an underused Maw, a gun, and her hive.>>3346607Load up a Parabellum. Which reminds me. How many shots left until Karma (the gun) levels up?
>>3346607Load up a Hercullean Fullbore, the strongest of our rounds. This Is a thing that NEEDS overkill.
>>3346626We're already at max Swarmling cap. anon. Please SPAWN MORE OVERLORDS.
>>3346618(You certainly may reinforce at higher tier forges. I'd hate for you to be locked out of improving something over time.)>>3346619(It will actually be after this fight that she is due for a level up. She's just shy of the cap.)
>>3346619I'm not against giving Dorian more protection, but remember that he's first level and we're facing a powerful enemy. He doesn't really have the luxury to be a DPS, we just brought him to harass with his blobs from the back (and, worst case, use Canvass Form to rescue people).Of course, that sounds like he's just there as an afterthought, but even just one of his blobs was able to shut Ringo's mouth. Several of them could be very potent.
>>3346633Fuckin' argh. Getting pretty sick of our cap getting In the way. Next time we get nine or ten levels thrown at the party lets throw at LEAST 2 Into swarmlings.
>>3346646We can also combine them quite a lot. We could always have the Banelings combine so we have one Large and one Extra Large so we have three more spots.I do definitely agree about increasing her cap, though.
The thing Amara does (Skin Talking? Phone posting, so too lazy to check the pastebin), is that what Mara uses to tame her dragon mounts? Are they the ones who specialize in taming Amalgams?
>>3346673Well the closest D&D class comparison BHOP likened SkinTalkers to is a hybrid of Druid and Bard, so yeah. The ones who do survive probably tame Amalgams.
>>3346673(You are correct. Mara does have a Skintalker ability.)
>>3346351>>3346405You have time, so you hole yourself up in the side bedroom of Julia's home and set to work crafting an arsenal of specialized swarmlings, a fleet the likes of which you've never birthed before. They are a gleaming brood of chittering death, and you hope they'll be enough to get through today without loss. A hand on your shoulder makes you start, and you realize you were so deep in your own thoughts that you didn't even properly sense Gina when she stepped into the room."They're beautiful, Shu." She says, looking to each of their glossy shells in turn before her amber gaze settles on your face. "It'll be okay, you know? We've fought worse."You smile, and pray she's right.Julia's armor seals around Rath with a touch of your hand to each plateling, fitting itself to the girl's smaller frame. You tousle Amara's hair as you walk by her, and return the hug she wraps around your waist. You tell her you'll be back soon, with another story to share, and you're fairly certain you have to cut some parts. Julia's the next to wrap her arms around you, and you gently wipe the fretful tears from the corners of her eyes before you give her your best smile. You say your goodbyes, and then you, Gina, Rath, Dorian, and Ringo set out for the Corrupted EngineSparagmos Assault Team Abilities: https://pastebin.com/Mb92WSr1The forest surrounding Dorian's ancestral home welcomes you with a trellis of silver-grey branches, the crimson sky shadowed with treetop and cloud alike. The walk through the gloom to the front gates of the mansion, and it's when you place your hand on metal bars that the wave of understanding, of calm acknowledgement hits you across the empathic channel at the same moment as your allies, and you all share glances of concern. The field that connects you all now is cold, focused, and resolute...and it is most assuredly not yours. The source of it lies deep within the abyssal bowels of Dorian's estate, gently reaching out from those antiquated depths and up to the light of day to touch your hearts and minds with simple curiosity, and a pang of hunger. It knows you're here.It does not fear, it does not plan, it does not fret.It merely beckons.>>Go in through the gate entrance, and emerge into the Engine chamber with the widest entrance.>>Go in through the kitchen doors that lead down to the cellar, and emerge in an elevated position.>>Write-InYOU ARE IN CONTROL

>>3346718>>3346711Er. WHERE'S RINGO'S STATS?
>>3346718this is extremely upsetting. BHOP is basically abusing the dog now.
>>3346718>>3346721(Haha, no worries. I'll upload them tomorrow morning as I'm rather exhausted at current and translating an unusual boss' stat sheet into a playable one is something I'd like a fresh mind to undertake.)(However, if it helps you plan a bit, it has the following basic stats; HEALTH: 400%, BIO: 300%, ACT: 3/3)(It has a claw and tongue attack, and it may expend 5% HEALTH + BIO to make up to four additional attacks per turn, much like Julia's perk. It is resistant to Neuromany and elemental damage, and weak againt slashing. It's teleportation requires 25% BIO+1 ACT, allowing it to return to its original position it's previous turn. It may also spend an act at 75% BIO to recover from any damage and status effects applied to it from a single target over the course of the last turn.)
>>3346763This will do BHOP, a cliffsnotes version will do nicely. Have a Cutethulu.
>>3346782(Adorable. You have my thanks.)
>>3346699>Low entranceThis has nothing to do with voting, but since I'll probably be away when this fight starts, I'd just like to offer a general sketch of something that might be a good approach. This is assuming that we're just fighting a giant and there's nothing that unusual besides the Death Engine:Because Ringo can just bail instantly and has such high health, I think she should lunge immediately for the giant's face, clawing any sense organs she can but saving one ACT to be able to teleport out if she gets wrestled into submission (she should be close enough on the giant's body that it can't get leverage for a solid punch). While Ringo does this, Shu's swarmlings (other than FuzzBuzz, who stays to protect her) all approach the grappling scene. When they get within striking range, if Ringo hasn't TP'd, she does so, and then the banelings aim for the Giant's sensory organs and brain, followed by the recursive drill-lings.During this time, the entire rest of the team have things to do to immobolize the giant. Gina terraforms to pin the giant's legs and Dorian focuses on making blobs to bind the giant to the terraformed structures. Rath uses her throwing ability to chuck the blobs so Dorian can focus on spawning more of them.During this time, Ringo is lashing the giant while keeping the furthest distance her tongue length allows. If the giant is able to get rid of all the swarmlings, Rath switches to throwing her flash grenade boils at his face and Shu continues to spawn more. Lastly, Rath should be approaching the giant as she's throwing projectiles, because she's the next best brawler after Ringo and her Tensile might be specifically useful if the giant wants to throw her around. I don't expect this to work because I have no idea what the giant has other than brute strength, I just wanted to mention a general idea of some tactics that could be useful.Note that most of the convolution comes from making sure Rath doesn't cause friendly fire on either Dorian's blobs or Shu's swarmlings.
>>3346839You might be forgetting that Rath has Herculean Force as a passive. with 170% Bio she can deal 1.7 times the damage by simply punching. if we spread it across six limbs, that'll be 1.5 x 6 limbs for a total cumulative x9 multiplier of PUNCH damage if all six arms connect. Either way, we've done the best we can do to prepare. No plan survives contact with the enemy, We've played our hand in the preparation stage, now we have to make the best use of our cards.
>>3346877I agree that the plan won't survive, I just hoped there might be individual points that could still apply.I feel obligated to mention about Rath though that the x9 damage multiplier is "9 x the damage of one of Rath's punches as a normal human."Which, granted, is not nothing, but against a giant who clearly has high brute strength, I think she's better off using her Herculean Force to throw projectiles.By the way, I think you're lowballing the Herculean Force multiplier. Here's the text, for onlookers:>the strength to turn the tide, the power to move mountains. Hecaton's earth-shattering strength is now in Rath's hands, granting her the ability to tear into her foes bare-handed, breaking bones and tearing flesh with ease. The incredible attack power granted by this power is diminished should Rath fall below 100% BIO, but for each 10% increment above that level her attack power is boosted considerably . . .This is suggesting that there is a base bonus at 100% BIO and then a further bonus for every additional 10%. However, unless that base bonus is +100% or greater, I stand by what I said before. I don't think it's enough to brute force a dedicated brute even if it lets her steamroll an average person.
>>3346921Alright, the previous post was really pessimistic, but I should add this:Rath has the ability to slingshot herself with her Tensile. She can also use it to garrote and it gives her a grappling boost on top of that. All of these factors plus Herculean Force and her extra arms mean she could absolutely stand a chance if she could reach the giant's head, garrote him with her super strength and counter-grapple him with her extra arms. She could also bait him into trying to tear some of those extra arms off and then have them explode in his hands.
>>3346763backing >>3346839also don't underestimate the power of a redheaded fiery loli who can recreate Asura's Wrath fight scenes
>>3346699You turn to Rath, seeing her spawn a fourth pair of luminescent arms, cracking the knuckles on each. The gem at the center of Gina’s forehead glows a fierce amethyst, and beside her Dorian’s arms spasm with harsh colors, his single visible brow knit with focus. You glance up at Ringo, her tense body all angles and brimming with that nervous, predatory energy. You’re as ready as you’ll ever be.The five of you descend into the depths in silence, dim light slowly giving way to pitch darkness as your feel your way along by the light of Rath’s cysts. You turn a corner, and the passage opens up into a wide hall, emptying out into the Corrupted Engine’s lair that hums with cruel purpose. The steady thrum of the infernal engine dies down, the pillars having just consumed another victim in the guardian’s pursuit of abominable strength. It stands before the eldritch machine, a shining ruby held between massive fingers, slowly disappearing as it’s dragged into the flesh of its palm. The cloak of many faces shifts as its wearer half-turns to you, their own face still shrouded from your view.“You’ve returned.” A deep, throaty voice says from beneath a hood that’s little more than a collection of frozen screams. “I’d hoped you would.”The figure turns slightly, inspecting each of your allies, in turn.“A magnificent collection you’ve accrued, Defiant.” A chill runs through you when the voice growls your title with something akin to appreciation. “The Vitruvian and the Tindalos in particular. I’m impressed.”The Contender burns in your right hand, its bladed length shuddering with rage.“They’re my friends, my allies. I imagine you’ve consumed anyone you might refer to that way.” You reply coolly, stepping forwards as your allies fan out behind you. “Why are you doing this? Why all the sacrifice, the accumulation? What’s it all for?”“Why? It’s simple, really.”She pulls back her cloak, devouring the shroud whole in whole in one of her many……oh.“Because I am a merciful God.”(Continued)

They're helpless. They're scared. With the proper neurological motivation, we could theoretically induce a prisoner's rebellion inside Spartan's body and soul. >Engine Reset – 3 TurnsWell shit. We've got a timer. My guess is when the Engine goes on Cooldown, Spartan will use all of her actions to grapple and throw the nearest daughter or amalgam into the engine center. If we want to delay that timer, we either will have to damage it to force another reset cycle, or attempt to block the engine from working properly by jamming a giant wrench into its gears.

>>3347602I'm thinking the standard Shu-brand distraction with swarmlings, maybe with acid, while Ringo and Rath bring the pain. Gina could probably change the terrain around to maximize Rath's effectiveness, while Dorian's constructs could afford us some protection if needed. We should test the waters first, and if Ringo proves effective, we can always spend some of his BIO to increase his acts.
>>3347596I wish we also had a Swarmling list to keep track of what each one does and what they're called.Shu>Act 1: Harass her with corrosive swarmlings. If my hunch is correct, then Spartan will have a Cat-o-Ninetails in its many tongues as an automatic counter mechanism. the banelings will proc that counter.>Act 2: Load up the Herculean Fullbore. If my hunch is correct, We can have the fullbore tunnel in and escape with a gemstone from Spartan's body. Gina:>Act 1-2: Head towards the pillar and interface with it with your Neuromancy. Spartan doesn't know you're here. if you can figure out any structural weaknesses to this damned machine, and what might happen if you jam a giant Terraformed column between them. We'll keep Spartan busy. Don't let your neurocords be seen. Take your time. let me know through the crimson cord if you figured something out. Dorian: >Act 1-2: Creator form, Paint Familiars, same tactic we used on Ringo. Gum up those mouths, have them attach themselves to the teeth, but don't let your familiars be swallowed. Immobilize Spartan's options. Ringo:>Act 1: Wolf pack tactics (image of many Ringos circling Spartan), Teleport behind Spartan. put yourself between Spartan and the Machine. >Act 2: Tongue whip Spartan's eyes, when you see an opportunity Fury claw attack (spend 5% Bio +HP to attack 4 additional times). Go for the spots painted by Dorian>Act 3: Fury Claw attack when you have the opportunity. Rath:>Act 1: You see those teeth? That's a lot of teeth. I wonder if the Tooth Fairy still exists. >Act 2: Spartan maybe Ripped as fuck like the tits, but what about leg day?Long term plans to think ahead: Gina is cloaked. Spartan doesn't know Gina is with us. She's our secret weapon. We should not reveal her as our secret card early on. She'll be crucial in catching Spartan flat-footed. My plan with her is that when the engine Resets, Gina will use her first Terraforming action to make a giant pillar that basically jams the engine pillars from properly channeling its energies.
>>3347674>>3347596Also, when it comes to the Reloading with the Herculean Fullbore, Fire the B.33 special first. Aim for the legs, gum up her footing.
>>3347666(Good idea. I'll work on a swarmling cheat-sheet this weekend.)
>>3347596Supporting >>3347674Though I think throwing some radiant boils on her and down her throats will have more effect than attacking the legs, which are probably just as buff as the rest of her going by the pic.
>>3347623>>3347666The thing is that We've got an engine resetting to worry about. Taking Spartan down will take more than 3 turns I can guarantee that. So the moment the Engine goes back online Spartan will inevitably try to toss one of our allies into the engine. Furthermore, we don't know how the engine works and Gina is cloaked. I would rather have Gina take the time to interface with the engine and figure out how to destroy it or jam its functions. Once the engine is non-functional (as in it can't really work without a massive error occurring, then we can fully put the focus on giving Spartan pain.

>>3347596One of your Banelings tears ahead of your group, flying in a suicide arc to bait out any countermeasures the Spartan may be packing. You’re swinging the pre-loaded Contender up, taking aim at the Spartan’s legs when a tongue lashes out from a gaping maw on her shoulder, wrapping around your Baneling and yanking it into a ravenous maw just before it disappears within your foe. She’s caught mid-step when your Contender fires with a silenced pop, catching her in the ribcage with the B.33 Special as her attention is focused on the Tindalos that now looms behind her thanks to a well-timed teleport. They come to blows just as the Spartan finds a number of her mouths occupied with a host of sticky rainbow paintlings, though she has no time to focus on that as she engages Ringo in a furious melee that…You’re keeping track of Gina’s progress towards the engine, skirting around the battle when she sends a realization your way; the Spartan isn’t even fighting back against Ringo’s furious assault, as with each swipe of her claw a barrier of bladed teeth deflect each vicious swipe with an armored grin. The Tindalos’ last two swipes come down on the Daughter’s neck, only to be caught in a pair of open mouths that clamp down hard on the hound’s paws. Ringo’s core is wide open, and the Spartan holds nothing back in her furious boxer’s counter. Three savage punches follow in quick succession, Ringo’s high-pitched whine following each one before the Spartan’s mouths release her. Ringo drops to the floor just as the Daughter’s foot catches her in her muzzle, sending her flying back with a sickening crunch against one of the pillars of the Corrupted Engine. Ringo struggles to draw a painful breath as you realize the paint blocking the Spartan’s mouths has disappeared, and you know exactly what happened to them along with your swallowed Baneling. On the Spartan’s knuckles, a hundred little mouths vomit up a rainbow-hued, sizzling ooze, patches of it eating through Ringo’s flesh as she rises back up from the floor. The hulking Daughter just smiles, her mouth splitting from ear to ear in a hideous Glasgow grin.“Down, girl.”“Here comes the tooth fairy, you mouthy bitch!” Roars rath as she storms over to the Spartan, who merely turns to you, completely ignoring the red-head in favor of meeting your gaze with a pair of placid, yet resolute dark eyes.“I assume you have not dueled many of my kind, Defiant.” She says over your companion’s rage-filled shouts, striding forwards to meet her in combat. “Allow me to show you why in a game of consumption, I shall be ascendant.”(Continued)
>>3348015Rath lets fly with a barrage of radiant punches, each one packing enough force to begin buckling the armored teeth that absorb every blow she lands. A spark of acknowledgement flits across the Spartan’s dark eyes, and she dives into melee with purpose. “You’re good.” She says simply, parrying what few blows she can of Rath’s relentless attack.“No man, I’m fucking FANTASTIC!” Rath howls with glee, three arms on her right side swinging as one and smashing her foe’s knee to one side, bringing the Spartan to her knees before her.“Indeed you are. I mustn’t hold back, then.” She intones, blocking Rath’s follow-up swing with one massive forearm.[Gina talk to me, what’s your status] You ask, glancing behind the two brawlers as you watch the skin melt from Ringo’s underbelly.{I got some options here, but you’re not gonna like any of them} She replies, and you sense she’s behind the Corrupted Engine, the furthest from the conflict as she works to understand the complex device.[Hit me, I’m open to anything right now after seeing what it did to a Tindalos]{I can set the engine to automatically implode when it boots back up, and that’ll take this place and the mansion down with it, and maybe some of the forest…} She replies hastily. {But I have no idea how much it’ll suck down with it if we do that, so…}[Any other options?]{I can reverse the engine’s next action, but this thing is so fucking weird, I have no idea what’ll happen to whoever gets caught in it, Shu}“Jesus fuck, you’re built like a brick shithouse!” Rath roars, getting in one or two quick jabs by virtue of her overwhelming offense.“Thank you. You’re a spicy little snack yourself, if you’ll pardon the pun.” The Spartan growls back, countering Rath’s last punch with one of her own as the elbow of Rath’s conjured arm explodes out the back. A long, twisted canine dagger is stabbed through the length of the orange limb, and Rath tears it free before the Spartan brings an acid-coated, tank-wrecking fist down on the ground where she once stood, buckling the black stone flooring at her feet. So now that I think about it, we have 2 win-conditions that we can use against Spartan. 1. Set the Engine's Polarity to reverse, and extract a gem from Spartan. Toss the Gem into the Engine, and watch as a Daughter is remade from the Gem. We win with a slow accumulation of numbers on our side.2. The implode engine option. >>3348267Oh, that's good. I thought it was a full-on Bites the dust where everything got reset.
>>3348245I'll back this with two amendmentsTag Knighted FuzzBuzz with that tongue mechanic we never useHave Dorian stay in Canvass form and play defensive support for Rath. He's still level one, he's way too vulnerable in Critic Form vs an enemy that literally just did 6% shy of his entire health total to a Tindalos.
I'll accept that amendment proposal. >>3348245Amending my vote to what make the following changes as dictated in >>3348310
>>3348310>>3348245i suppose ill change to support this. i only do hope the daughters inside can be saved and we arent wasting time trying.
>>3348317If anything, the girls trapped inside Spartan will definitely hold a grudge against her. With the right persuasion, they might aid us. And There's no doubt that they definitely want the engine destroyed.
>>3348245this
>>3348317Well, the daughter that just died seems to be salvageable, but I highly doubt we can do anything about the gems that were consumed unless this Engine could rip the Spartan back into all of the consumed daughters. If that's the case, I wish we could drag B'ni back here so we could pull the Chevalier out of her.
(Gentlemen, I know that the voting period is set to close soon, and I am wrapping things up at work, so when voting closes there will be a delay before the next post and I'll have a better idea of how the evening will play out. Thank you all for your participation and enthusiasm, and take care.)
>>3348245Backing
>>3348319you would be surprised. having seen what it can do, some might still be tempted once freed.>>3348325true, at least the most recent might be salvageable. we shall have to see. not sure about B'ni and chevalier though, but honestly? i dont want to keep the engine around long enough to find out. not worth the risk in my opinion.
>>3348349>not sure about B'ni and chevalier though, but honestly? i dont want to keep the engine around long enough to find out. not worth the risk in my opinion. That's fair. After thinking about it more, it's actually kind of reasonable that we might be able to have Gina move Chevalier into a swarmling (that was molded, partly using Hundred-Handed, to be human-like). Julia could probably also help with that, considering the model of Shu that she made.
(Back home and writing now, Gentlemen.)
(These rolls are hilarious. I...just, wow.)
>>3348635
>>3348635Did the Spartan trip on her tongue shoelaces?
>>3348635>>3348653finally a reason to use one of these
>>3348028You and Dorian run forwards as one as he shifts into his Cavass form, limbs trailing behind his armored frame as a certain scarlet swarmling discreetly takes flight from your hive. An eighth limb explodes from Rath's side as you race to her aid, just as the Spartan engages her in fisticuffs once more, and you can tell by the focus in her dark, heartless eyes that it's her intent to remove Rath from the conflict entirely. You race around Rath's left as Dorian takes her right, just as three of the smaller girl's right arms detach, entangling the Spartan's lethal punch just before it lands, and the same happens to the other side. Suddenly, they're in a deadlock, with the utterly massive Daughter slowly bringing Rath to her knees as your ally realizes her target just out of punching range. But it's exactly the opening your firecracker meant to give you.Your Ravenous Maw lashes out with blinding speed, taking hold of the Grinning Spartan's other leg and yanking you into a baseball slide towards it, hoping against hope that it will give you the next opening you need to make your plan work. The hulking Daughter looks down in time to see you between her legs, the Contender aimed directly between her thighs as your stomach clamps down with savage strength. It is at that moment that several things happen, very quickly. The roar the howls forth from the Contender's muzzle reduces everything that happens to a blur of movement and color, devoid of sound. You watch as if in slow motion, a pair of mantis-like talons slice out from behind the Spartan's back, carving down in a killing arc to remove Rath's head from her shoulders. They're inches from her neck when Dorian intercepts them with his arms from a safe distance, yanking them to the side as the over-muscled Daughter tilts to the side, her eyes wide as she stares down at you, tilting to the floor. You wonder briefly why she's falling, and what could possibly have caused the towering mass of teeth and muscle to lose balance, and it's then that you realize her left left leg is missing below the knee.<Ravenous Maw: CRITICAL STRIKE>You're suddenly aware of your stomach roiling as it devours the limb within you, converting it into usable biomass in the half-second it takes for the Spartan to fall to the floor, a look of abject shock on her face that's obscured when Rath brings half of her fists down on her dumbfounded expression. The floor buckles and cracks with the sheer force of your companion's rage-filled strike, and her mouth is open as she lets loose with a satisfying and ultimately inaudible scream. It is as Rath grinds your foe's skull against the onyx flooring that your Herculean Fullbore tears out the Spartan's shoulder, your prize gripped tight in over-sized pincers as it races to Gina's side. The moment Rath fixes you with a proud grin is the moment she's suddenly jettisoned across the room by a full-power backhand. (Continued)
>>3348691Dorian yells her name as the Spartan rises from the floor, her composure restored as spines of Calcite teeth rapidly begin to form a white-red prosthetic. She says something to you, but it's lost in the aftermath of the Contender's explosive firing. Her hand moves, and it's suddenly around your throat from ten feet away. Dorian's block is a fraction of a second too late, as you're hauled bodily towards the goliath before you. She stares pitlessly into your eyes, her mouth opening, opening wider and wider still, her neck splitting down the sides as she leans in to do to your skull what you did to her leg. She moves in for the bite and her forehead collides against yours in a sharp headbutt, and when your vision clears, you see her growl a word, four syllables that just saved your life. Neuromancy.Your Scarlet Drone is affixed to the giant's back as you feel Gina fighting to suppress Spartan's core ability, your foe's body suddenly devoid of the countless impossible mouths as she glares at you with a mixture of frustration and amusement. She rears back a fist to have your skull in the old-fahsioned way when Dorian catches her hand, straining with all his might to keep her from releasing a lethal swing. Turning back to you, she opens her now-normal mouth, her teeth spearing towards your eyes, calcite daggers intent to end you before they're carved away mid-air by Fiuzbuzz's bladed intervention, and your Drillings latch on to the Spartan's face at the same moment a massive shape dwarfs all of you at once. Ringo, her stomach fully-healed, shadows you all with an agile leap from the Engine, tearing deep crimson gashes into the Spartan's back as your Drilling brood spray you with blood and gristle from their efforts of tearing into their target's upper torso. Your hearing is just a high-pitched whine when you're dropped unceremoniously to the ground, your captor having bigger things to worry about as her hands explode into a wild assortment of calcite blades, tearing at your swarmlings and taking wild swipes at Ringo. You're scrambling to your feet when it hits you that she's not moving from that space, the alabaster prosthetic seeming rooted into the ground as you realize it's laces with tendrils of silver-grey veins, strands that begin to pulse with sickly yellow light.A flash of gold, a pulse of neurons are the only warning you get before the ground at your feet explodes. Neuromancy, of the terraforming kind.(Continued)
>>3348712>>3348691>EXECUTIONERS JAW: your Maw's teeth become a savage guillotine that deals an automatic and doubly effective critical hit to foes that are drawn close enough. Can also trigger upon being grappled to deal severe damage to anyone foolish enough to close the gap in combat.
>>3348710Yours is a world of teeth and blood. You open your eyes to a forest of jagged canines, a field of cracked molars and razor-sharp incisors that have exploded from the broken ground around you. You struggle to your feet, wincing at the gash that runs from one side and across your stomach to the other. Rath was thrown clear of the blast, and you sense her struggling to rise to her feet somewhere against the wall of the chamber to your left. You hearing slowly returns, and Dorian staggers to your side from behind a fractured tooth taller than he is. It;'s hard to tell by his body, but the multi-colored fluid that seems to be leaking from the deep gashes in his armor don't bode well. Ringo is somewhere close to Gina, struggling to her four legs as she licks countless slash wounds across her body. You breathe in, and then you wish you hadn't when pain lances across your chest, and you pull your hand away from your stomach to see that maybe you're not doing too hot, yourself. You reach out across the Crimson Cord, and to your relief Gina clutches the ruby-red remains of a Daughter in her left hand, still hidden from sight and clear of the Spartan's Neuromantic burst on the other side of the Corrupted Engine. The wall of calcite teeth in front of you is shattered by a dismissive swing as the Grinning Spartan comes into view, batting away the recursive swarmlings that continue to harass her. The mouths are still nowhere to be found, and you feel that Gina's still keeping her focus on stopping the Spartan from making you her next meal. The blood running down your foe's bare chest and face begins to go glossy before your eyes, suddenly fomenting into a scarlet plating that begins to cover her entire body as she brings one meaty fist against her palm, cracking her knuckles. Her gaze meets yours, and it's like she doesn't even realize Dorian is right beside you. She's focused solely, purely on you, now.You glance at the Engine, barely visible past her massive body and through the toothy forest. Not much longer, now.HP: 46%BIO: 190% (7 Platelings, 2 Banelings, 2 Large Recursive Drillings, 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz, 12/18 Active) CONTENDER: Empty, Lion Heart FormRAVENOUS MAW: Primed.ACT: 2/2Threat: Close, intending to end you. >>3348748Hey BHOP, what setting did Gina set the Engine to? Reverse the Engine process or implode?
>>3348748oof, yeah that was a worry of mine. the explosion would've ended this fight, now we have to hope the reinforcement we get is enough to do so. otherwise its another 3(?) Turns of combat to slog through potentially, and all writing signs points towards our Spartan friend being in much better condition than any of us are in.>SHU and DORIAN; wait until the last second, then use Maw and Canvass Form to rush away form Spartans Attack.>RATH and SHU; Have the Drlllings take hold of Raths Strands and Discreetly move them into position, then once Spartan punches downward at Shu, using a mix of Boils and Rath pulling the Strands back, try and ensnare the arm like a snare trap.>SHU AND RINGO; once the arm is pinned, have then Banelings dash for the shoulder while Ringo goes wild on the limb, in hopes of severing it.>GG; get to the engine, and get the gem ready. we need to make sure that gem is the first thing into the engine, for our own safety and to not waste the opportunity. otherwise keep focusing on slowing this hulk down.>DORIAN; switch to Creator Form and spawn us 4 Constructs.
>>3348771im fairly certain reversal won out over implosion.
>>3348776True, but the sign "Detonation in 1 turns" is giving out mixed signals.
>>3348778the bb.33 special round. it detonates in one turn.
>>3348778Thats the Contender round thats gonna explode, not the engine.
>>3348748The biggest matchup problem was that she could eat several of the things we tried to throw at her. Now that we have the mouths repressed, we can have banelings take out her main eyes and smother her with Dorian's blobs, which her armor won't help against.>Shu>Spawn 6 more Banelings and have them all attack the openings in her armor (mouth, eyes, anything else she might have).>Gina>Focus on keeping the Scarlet Swarmling active.>Secondarily, try to terraform the terrain to trap her surviving foot. Maul her twice.
(Gentlemen, voting to close in one and a half hours.)>>3348778(The detonation refers to the B.33 Round, not the engine. The engine is set to reversal.)
Analysis:Spartan has spent mass amounts of Bio to form a Calcite Pegleg and even more amounts to create a Terraform explosion in a forest of teeth and fangs. She currently has created a set of Blood Armor using Hemomancy. Hemomancy implies that such abilities cost both BIO and HP. She seems to be content into using melee. >>3348787Also, BHOP. what happened to the Fullbore Hercules beetle? The way I originally designed it is so that it was still reusable (hence the swarmling slot)! Did Spartan's Forest-of-Teeth attack destroy it?And what's the Terrain like now?
>>3348786i dont think Shu getting close is a good idea. best to avoid damage and let the BB activate on its own i feel. >>3348786>>3348784>>3348772i will amend mine however with>GG; Throw out a Cancerous Payload, if nothing else itll keep her focus disoriented as she deals with it.along with Ginas other Actions, and;>SHU: spawn 6 Banelings, and have them aim to help sever the arm, and any extra go for other vulnerabilities.along with the SHU and RINGO action.
>>3348803I'm a little confused on part of this. Is the Shu and Rath part now just Rath acting on her own?

>>3348748Changing my vote to a version of this:>>3348835I'd like to amend it to Gina prioritizing keeping the scarlet swarmling working, since everything else falls apart without that (so I guess we drop cancerous payload since she probably should still be saving the Daughter).Anon, does that seem reasonable?
>>3348849that works, so long as she still saves an action/is in position to throw in the gem. im very very worried about what happens if Spartan throws one of us in there first, so i dont want to discard that action for sure.
>>3348748Shu: >Act 1: Have the Recursive Swarmlings generate Hundred-Handed Arms to grapple Spartan's legs Via Hive Mind. Generate 3 Knight-class swarmlings, send in the swarm (minus FuzzBuzz) to attack arm that Spartan isn't using to punch Shu. Double Parry with the Rapier and FuzzBuzz. Riposte with the Ravenous Maw. >>3348870>Have the Recursive Swarmlings generate Hundred-Handed Arms to grapple Spartan's legs Via Hive Mindiirc we still can't do this, swarmlings need to be in contact to grow hands (for now)Also I'm not sure if the mini-swarmlings have enough biomass for arms without us adding our own anyway.
>>3348870>>3348748Amending a few actions.Shu:>Act 1: Spawn 3 Knight-class swarmlings and Spawn 4 extra sets of Hundred Handed Arms. Riposte with a Ravenous Maw Bite onto her hands.>Act 2: Send in the Swarm to attack Spartan's other arm, have the Banelings Attack Spartan's face. Load up Herculean Fullbore. Attack centermass. Get another Gem out. If there aren't any more Daughter Gems inside Spartan's stomach, then just make Sashimi out of Spartan's internals.
>>3348855>>3348849So what's our general consensus on our plans for this round?Bait Spartan into throwing a punch at Shu? Parry and riposte the punched arm and then Riposte by severing said arm?
(Dinner pushed me back, so I will be extending voting an additional half hour.)>>3348802(I was having dinner, hence my delay. The teeth forest did not destroy the Fullbore, but the acid it was drenched in did. The terrain is a calcite forest in a 30 degree pie slice from the center of the room, if that helps you visualize it.)
>>3348946let her throw the punch, but im sticking with my plan of just dodging and letting the BB go off on its own. note; it will go off NEXT turn, once the Engine is ready, meaning as shes going for the engine she will then get her movement ensnared, giving GG more time to toss the thing in, and giving her no time to try and cut herself loose or devour it, such as if it went off this turn. we also put Shu at risk trying to parry, rather than just dodge. we have no bonus to parrying, meaning we rely on just our own strength, which is far from adequate i think considering Rath could only just keep up with her, and even then was waning.
[reposted to change wording]>>3348946Well, I'm still inclined towards this:>>3348849 (You)I admit there are some mechanics I might not be aware of, because I don't know how Shu could take so many actions:>Spawning Swarmlings>Growing extra arms>Sword parry/blocking with extra arms>Grapple with extra arms>[Free Maw Bite]>Load Contender>"Attack centermass"I do think we should keep making use of Shu's mouth, but we should probably keep it as a second line of defense because it usually leaves Shu exposed.
>>3348980as far as i am aware, things that take Actions are:>Using an ability to its full extent>Attacking once>Moving onceim not sure if firing and loading the contender is a free action or not, only that it can only be fired once per turn, and so far i think its been implied at least doing both takes one up.Swarmlings are also an iffy subject, as they seem, though not confirmed as of yet, to each have a single mini-action onto themselves perhaps, though again, neither confirmed nor denied, nor the limits upon them in this manner. Constructs probably have similar limitations id imagine too.
>>3349005Oh yeah, I was assuming swarmlings all have their own action independent of Shu (other than spawning), which is why I didn't include them on the list that seemed too big to me.Though I might have communicated that poorly since I included the free Maw bite.In any case, I think we're in agreement on the plan.
>>3348984>>3348997I see. I may have overstepped my boundaries on how many actions Shu could take. Also I realize I can't have Shu fire the Herculean fullbore twice consecutively. >>3348870Once more in modifying a few actions.>Act 1: Generate 3 Knight class swarmlings, have them form a phalanx in front of Shu along with Sir FuzzBuzz>Act 2: Bungie Tongue your way out of Spartan's reach. Have the 2 Banelings, recursive drilllings, and Knight-lings move from defense to offense. >>3349019
>>3349025(I'm sorry if I came off rudely. I realized my original post read that way and attempted to fix it)I totally forgot that knights have acid by default. I probably wouldn't have been emphasizing banelings so much up to this point had I remembered that. Do you think 3 knights would be enough to break the pegleg? Or at least ruin the neuromancy wiring?
>>3349042Well in my plan I had Dorian use Paint Familiars to lift her bony peg leg off the floor so she couldn't use that fucking wave of teeth attack since I'm certain it requires physical contact to cast. I'm not sure. what it will do is ruin the Neuromancy Wiring if it can't break the peg leg.On the subject of your apology, I accept your apology. It was a legitimate concern since I didn't realize how often I would front-load the actions a character would take. It may have happened in the last round. But thank you for reminding me that I can't pull that shit time and time again. I often design my plans as a complicated series of maneuvers performed by different characters designed to achieve a singular objective.
Going to bed. Good luck.
>>3349065Hmm. . . . I don't think Dorian's paint blobs are strong enough that 4 could lift a giant, especially since the pegleg probably has high PSI versus squishy slimes. They seem to be able to do the most work in binding and clinging.Slighlty morbid, but I suspect that they would make for a very effective physical toxin if they got into someone's bloodstream, though a hemomancer is probably the worst person to test it on.Oh, I didn't realize, but do a group of Knight swarmlings all buff each other? In that case, we might want to go higher than 3 because we get better returns that way.
>>3349131id be fine switching out the banelings for knightlings, as i forgot they too had acid.
>>3349131>>3349137So we're in agreement on Rath, Dorian, Ringo, and Gina's actions, the only contentious part is Shu because of her position. So. Knightlings, generate 3 of them yeah? We already have FuzzBuzz out on the field, we also have recursive drillings and 2 leftover banelings. The question is how we use Shu's actions to both tank and keep her alive.
>>3349150still sticking with my previous actions personally.
(Gentlemen, I started the next post about seven different times, and in order to do your plan any justice I am afraid I will have to pause here and get some rest. I apologize for the lengthy pause, but this day and evening has been a lot, and I wish to give this fight my all and give your excellent plans the writing they deserve. I shall be extending voting for ten hours, and I shall resume writing exactly twelve hours from now.)(Thank you so much for your patience, participation, and (I hope) understanding with this pause. I hope you all have an excellent evening and rest well, and I look forward to seeing how you all attempt to wrest victory from this situation. Thank you again Gentlemen, and sleep well.)

So Dorian is a guy or?
>>3350167In the sense that he's FtM transgender. Hence he glitched through the Crucible's selection process and became a Daughter.
>>3350172Funny, given that trannies are universally all cancerous as fuck or complete walking disasters, to an undeniable extent - Dorian is already best boy tier.
>>3350167Biologically no, but i guess his dads wish to have had a boy rubbed off on him in unexpected ways, to put it mildly.
>>3348748“You’re not looking so hot.” You say through gritted teeth, straining to stand strong under your own power. Dorian has one tendril in front of you, ready to guard while the other hovers near the small of your back, ready to yank you to safety despite his own wounds. “Makes you wonder if your whole philosophy isn’t a little flawed if you can’t even handle a couple of newbies, huh?”You’re stalling, stalling as you feel the indomitable Rath rise back up somewhere beyond the field of scattered bones as your Drillings fly low to meet her, stalling as you feel Gina counting down the seconds until the engine reboots, a ruby clutched tight in her hand.“You’re bleeding. Broken. Dying.” The Spartan fires back from the open mouthpiece of her slowly expanding crimson plating. “My engine is almost ready, and I have only just begun.”“If what I’ve seen of Miss Shu and her friends is but a fraction of what they’ve accomplished so far…” Dorian begins stoically, backing up your efforts to move the pieces of your plan into place. “…then I can say with confidence that they are far greater than some coward that’s been lurking beneath my floorboards, busying herself with being a monster.”She charges, and by that time, you’re ready.Your Ravenous Maw lashes out, snagging a nearby tooth and painfully yanking yourself away from the Grinning Spartan’s lethal hammer blow. The spot you just were explodes with white teeth and black tile, Dorian pulling himself away in the nick of time. Shapes move in the cloud of dust, and when your foe tries to wrench her engorged limb from the crater she just made, she runs into a snag courtesy of your red-headed hellion, the limb held against her will by Rath’s impossible strength. With speed only made possible by Fuzzbuzz’s presence on the battlefield, your Drillings pulled Rath’s strands taught around the Spartan’s right arm. Eight incredibly powerful hands work to keep the strands tense, immobilizing your foe’s limb as she strains to regain control. The opening you’ve made is open just long enough when Ringo bounds through the dust, barreling through the calcite forest and ready to exact her revenge. Her talons come down, again and again with impossible speed as she frantically chips away at the empowered arm in an attempt to sever it as six fresh Banelings join her efforts.“Idiots, this armor is…!” She begins, though her boast falters when Ringo brings her scythe-like claws down one last time, cleaving through the Spartan’s right arm before she backhands the wolf away once more, flinging Ringo into a jagged mess of bloody teeth. The Spartan’s stopped smiling, and is now staring at her bloody stump in disbelief.(Continued)
>>3350322“The last girl, she should have made this armor impenet…no.”You see it in her eyes, the sudden realization that you’ve stolen something she was counting on as she turns towards the Engine, now issuing a low hum as it begins to reboot.“No…NO.”Your Banelings are thrown back by a sudden burst of bloody, bladed tendrils that lash out from the surface of the Spartan’s crimson alloy, covering her shining armor with acid as they’re cut apart. The plating sizzles and pops, losing its glossy sheen as you pull yourself up, Dorian having shifted his form somewhere through the haze, spawning a quartet of paintlings as you…A bloody lance, a spear of pain, a right arm on the floor that you dimly realize belongs to you. A sanguine blade extends from the Grinning Spartan’s remaining left arm, having cleaved off your right arm just below your shoulder. You have no time to process before the spear loses its rigidity, wrapping around your back and yanking you forwards until you’re face-to-face with the Spartan’s furious glare, held aloft by her motile armor.“Eye for eye, limb for limb, Defiant!” She screams in your face, her composure completely shattered. Your core is chilled, cold with shock and pure adrenaline as the Spartan slowly squeezes the blood and life out of you.“Where is it?!” She roars, the Engine beginning to thrum with life behind her. “Tell me where the gem is before I throw you and the rest of your pathetic bitches in my Engine!”She turns to stride towards the device when you force a smile through a blood-loss induced haze, just before the B.33 Special detonates in her remaining leg. She howls with fury as she’s suddenly pinned to the floor, unable to drag your wounded form to her beloved, hellish machine. Right on cue the Engine roars to life, just as the Spartan turns to see a blinding burst of light, the results of Gina’s efforts after she’s thrown the ruby into the engine’s ravenous core. White light turns to a blood-hued glow, your vision swimming as you and your captor struggle to focus on what has occurred. The Spartan blinks, and hesitates. She’s too slow to dodge when a crimson arrow robs her of her left eye.(Continued)
>>3350326She roars with pain, dropping you to the floor as her remaining hand flies to her face. You land hard on your left arm, feeling something crack painfully in your ribs and shoulder. {Shu, Shu are you okay?!} Gina asks, panicked at the pain that echoes across your bond. {The girl, she just pulled a bow out of nowhere and she’s headed your…}A figure emerges, walking with furious purpose along the ragged path Ringo cleared through the field of bone. The girl that approaches is deathly pale and slender, her body covered in an array of tightly wrapped bandages, and for a moment it’s as though you’re seeing the Chevalier once more. The scarlet bow held tight in her grip dissolves, sliding back into a lengthy cut on her arm that closes on its own. She plunges her own hand into her chest, drawing forth something jagged and wrong from deep within her sternum, a broken broadsword that more closely resembles an over-sized razor blade with a crudely wrapped handle. “We’ve unfinished business, you and I.” She declares to the Spartan, her voice harsh yet eloquent as she levels her blade at the enraged monstrosity before you. The girl directs deep red eyes at you from underneath the bangs of her ashen hair. “My will remains my own, but by my honor and that of my comrades, I pledge my blade to you and yours for this duel, Defiant. Your reputation has garnered that much from this humble servant.”You…what?<BLOODY MYRMIDON HAS JOINED THE FIGHT>You may have lost a limb, but you’ve gained a temporary ally, at the very least. >>3350327also, we apparently have garnered a REPUTATION. interesting. sounds like a good one too, at least. always feels nice to know your actions may have lead to something good you didn't think about.
>>3350368Reminder that we need to keep Gina’s surpression active. The giant will probably be able to recoup biomass at an absurd rate if she gets her mouths back. We’re getting close to the point where Ringo needs to heal.Lastly, we should probably have the specification that Rath doing anything means growing new arms, since I think all of her current ones are occupied with tensile grappling. The neck lasso is probably still doable ACT-wise since it’s swarmlings doing most of it and Rath is already kind of doing the same thing elsewhere.
>>3350327Hmm... Delicious. I love it when a plan comes together.Shu:>Free action: Open an empathy channel to Bloody Mrymidon and show her a wave of gratitude.>Free action: "Glad to give you the opportunity to finish your duel, Bloody "Myrmidon" Mary. Have the Second Scarlet Drone plug itself into Spartan's back. Have the Banelings and Drill-lings attack Spartan's peg-leg.Dorian:>Act 1: Canvas form. Grab Shu and get her to safety. Get her to Gina. >Act 2: Have your Paintlings Form a blockade that Blocks any incoming attacks that Spartan tries to throw our way. Rath:>Act 1-2: Sling your phantom limb around Spartan's Neck. Then strap a Remote Boil onto Spartan's Face. Preferrably down her gullet. Then detach that limb and detonate that boil if Spartan tries to do Terraforming Bullshit. Tell Spartan "I got a present for ya. Heard ya needed a spare ARM."Gina: >Act 1: Continue Suppressing Spartan's Gluttonous ability. Plug Shu into your Neural Network with a Neurocord. >Act 2: Shu's given you a second plug via Scarlet Drone. You've got another avenue to do Neuromancy bullshit like fuck up Spartan's rhythm by paralyzing her when she attacks, or Alternating between Core Ability Suppression and Full-body Paralysis.Ringo:>Act 1-3: There's a lot of Teeth and bones on the floor, Use your tongue to pick them up and throw them like daggers at Spartan's back. >>3350383Hmm... I wonder what did we do that got us on the radar? My bet is stealing Mara's prize from under her nose. >>3350438Actually Rath still has her arms. She used 3 of them to lasso Spartan's arm (now severed) and recalled them once Ringo severed it. At this stage in the fight I think Bloody (Myrmidon) Mary has center stage in the fight. We've mostly done our part. Since Bloody Mary is a wild card ally, we can't do our full team synchronized coordination. So the best thing we can do is play support. So I think now is a good time for Ringo to make good use of her tongue and the field of Teeth and bone.
>>3350468Backing this
>>3350468>Actually Rath still has her arms.Whoops! My mistake. Never mind about that part then.Re: MyrmidonI agree we should keep out of her way, but there’s still plenty to do to harass/encumber that would probably be fine. I think Dorian could probably stand to spawn many more blobs to slow the giant down.
>>3350438Rath doesn't need new arms because the arm she was keeping pinned was cut off so all her arms are free. Ringo will need to heal but still has so much more HP he can take a bit more punishment compared to the rest of us by alot.my bad, kinda meant for Gina to be passively keeping that going regardless.
>>3350468>>3350327Amending one of Shu's Free actions. Instead of saying "Glad to give you the opportunity to finish your duel, Bloody "Myrmidon" Mary, We'll support you however we can.">"The stage is yours for this duel 'Bloody Mary', We'll support you however we can."I'm leaving the Myrmidon part out because Myrmidon is a greek term for a follower or subordinate of a powerful person, typically one who is unscrupulous or carries out orders unquestioningly. She's not affiliated with us as she is her own person. The omission of "Myrmidon" in her title elevates her status from that of a servant to that of a peer. She has wagered her own skin and life in this game so it's fair that she be treated respectfully.
>>3350468while Ringo is hurt compared to his own health pool, he still has more HP than any other person started out with, and i think he would be much better suited at least one more round in Melee, rather than taking pot shots.Rath also has no reason to not just continue to try and garrote wire her, explosion or not.im also very worried Dorians paintlings simply arent big or strong enough to really absorb an attack, hence focusing on being prepared to simply move Shu again and have them be more a hindrance than outright stopping her in mine. so far from what ive seen they really need alot of numbers to clog up joints as of now, due to their size, so would probably make a terrible blockade.
>>3350468(With this plan, are you reassigning Dorian's armor to Myrmidon?)
>>3350523Seconding everything hereThe teeth really are a golden opportunity for Rath to slingshot to the Spartan’s head and garrote her there.
>>3350526Yes. I believe "Bloody Mary" will appreciate the Chitinous plates.
>>3350468>>3350327Modifying Gina's actions:>Act 1: Terraform a section of ground to create Cover of sorts or Hallowed ground to protect Shu and Dorian. Its her first terraforming act in combat so it will stay standing without Gina having to maintain attention to it.>Act 2: Shu's inserted another Neuromancy plug into Spartan. Take advantage of the increased bandwidth and play merry hell with Spartan's body, alternate between suppressing her core ability to giving her full body paralysis or both at the same time if you're daring.
>>3350559Also rewording the revised actions to have it create cover for Shu and Dorian to race along. giving them protection from Spartan while they run to Gina while giving Gina and cover as well.
>>3350523Sure I can appreciate Dorian using his paint familiars to Harass and slow down Spartan. Maybe gum up the stump that is her severed right arm to stop tendrils from appearing and infiltrate her bloodstream? Give her acute lead poisoning.
>>3350567actually guming up the stump is a marvelous idea.that combined with Rath trying to cut off her head should probably keep her regen pretty busy id imagine, and thats not counting Ringo and Mary cutting into her, though i still think Ringo should go for melee.
>>3350572hell why stop there? after Raths explosion opens the wound up a bit, and her cords keep it open, have some go down her new throat hole too,
>>3350567This is smart too, I feel getting eldritch paint essence inside of her cant be healthy for The Spartan.
>>3350572>>3350468Then we are in agreement. >>3350327Modifying one of Dorian's commands to his 4 Paint Familiars. >Act 1: Unchanged. Get Shu and yourself to Safety.>Act 2: Send the Paint Familiars to gum up any open wound (i.e the stumpy right arm) on The Spartan and have the excess infiltrate her bloodstream to give her acute lead poisoning.
>>3350559A second plug would be good tthough have as a fail safe, but fooling around with the power surppression has a realistic chance to screw us over horribly if she resists the paralysis even briefly. We already have Rath and Dorian to immobilize her with slime and tensile (to say nothing of the crippling all of our members help with), we don’t need to throw the mission just to style on her.
>>3350602I understand your concern. But what I'm not certain of is whether or not the increased bandwidth of having a second neurocord will let Gina be able to inflict more neuromancy shenanigans on her target. >>3350526Lets ask BHOP. Hey BHOP, if Gina has 2 or more Neurocords on her target, doe the increased bandwidth allow her to inflict more Neuromancy effects without risk?
>>3350610(At her current level, more cords would not enhance her Neuromantic effects, I'm afraid. A single tether is suitable for your plan, as the Spartan has yet to be able to remove the Scarlet Drone.)
>>3350618Ah. Well then. This changes things. I think a reshuffling of Gina's priorities will have to be in order. >Have Gina maintain the Core Ability suppression. >If she can spare the brain power, create cover for Shu and Dorian when they reach your side.
>>3350592>>3350572Some fun facts about Lead poisoning. Symptoms include:>High blood pressureThat's gonna make her bleed like a water fountain when Bloody Mary cuts her up.>Joint and muscle painMoving around will be a BITCH>Difficulties with memory or concentrationShe won't be able to think straight or concentrate on the fight.>HeadacheDepending on how severe it is, is it a migrane or is it a case of head a-splode?>Abdominal painStomach cramps are FUN in a fight>Mood disordersI wonder what sort of mood swings will Spartan have?>Reduced sperm count and abnormal spermIrrelevant>Miscarriage, stillbirth or premature birth in pregnant womenYikes.
>>3350629If we actually give her acute enough lead poisoning to see the symptoms, Dorian will become the most terrifying member of our party by far.
>>3350648Uh Oh, BHOPs at work guys.(judging by the new ID) Dont swear or the word filter at work will get him in trouble!
>>3350648>>3350652F-Word
>>3350635Not to be a killjoy, but is Dorian’s paint actually lead-based?Though I also want to point out that physical toxins are in some ways scarier than chemical toxins. Because Dorian can control the slime, he can probably target parts of the cardiovascular system to fill. Imagine if he got a high concentration of paint in the heart. It would be as though the heart just wasn’t beating because it was pumping paint instead of blood.
>>3350658
>>3350663It has been brought up that his paint might be similar to the old kind made of biological matter like ground-up plants, except with flesh and fluids.
>>3350658>>3350665BHOP is gonna get some PROMOTIONS now.
>>3350705>>3350665Really? Don't make BHOP leave from work with a Cardboard box in his hands.
>>3350710(Haha, one of those posts was me, actually. My work email is the only restrictive part, everyone here is incredibly relaxed, and it's been a surprisingly quiet day, to boot.)
>>3350327You open the empathic channel to Myrmidon as Dorian leaps to your side on a colorful strand, scooping you up in his surprisingly powerful other arm as his paintling drones interpose themselves between you and the raging giant. Just before he takes off with you in tow, you reach out with your prehensile tongue and devour your severed limb, a chitinous replacement exploding painfully from your socket."The stage is yours for this duel 'Bloody Mary', we’ll support you however we can." You say across the channel as Dorian sends you both flying with incredible force over the field of shattered teeth. The earth between you and the Spartan bursts upwards, shielding you from the spears of crystallized blood she clumsily flings your way. You watch as the armor peels off Dorian and flies to the Myrmidon’s slight form, your knightlings and Fuzzbuzz converging on your foe alongside Rath and the swordswoman before they’re obscured by your descent. You and Dorian land by Gina’s side, her attention immediately on your replacement limb and the gash running along your stomach.“Shu, are you…” She begins, her crystal flaring with amethyst light before you hold up a hand to stop her.“I’ll be fine, just keep suppressing those mouths, whatever you do.” You say, testing your new arm. “Dorian, where are we with your drones?”“Covering the wound and in her bloodstream.” He says, voice clipped and professional. “She’ll be feeling it any minute.”The sounds of battle, the clash of blades, and the Spartan’s roar of pain from across the now-crumbling field of her crumbling teeth. You sense Rath has a death-grip of razor-floss around the giant’s neck, while Ringo and the Bloody Myrmidon keep her busy with a ceaseless onslaught of blades. It’s won’t be long until you have her right where you…There’s a sudden burst of blood and bone that explodes over Gina’s wall of earth, and your empathic field is filled with static. The remains of the teeth shatter from the force, and you realize it was only your friend’s hastily-constructed barrier than kept you from being caught in the blast. The wall crumbles, revealing a dusty haze, and it’s impossible to tell who’s left standing after whatever just happened.A single, slight figure drags herself towards you through the gloom, one arm working determinedly to reach you.(Continued)
>>3350779The Grinning Spartan smiles no longer, pulling herself towards you relentlessly, throat slit and leaking blood down her bare chest. She’s a third of her previous size, and you have little doubt she expended the majority of her remaining biomass on a last-ditch effort to rid herself of the overwhelming offence directed her way.She retches violently, a stream of diluted rainbow-hued fluid splattering through her mask and to the ground as she struggles to speak. Somehow, impossibly, she rises to her feet, levelling her single remaining eye at you through a crumbling helm as she staggers forwards.“…God…I’m…a God…” She croaks out weakly, hobbling along even as she musters a crimson blade in her hand, gaze transfixed on you. “…wouldn't lie to me, told I’d be the one to…I have to be the one…”Dorian steps forward, putting himself between the Spartan and where you lean on Gina. Relief overcomes you as you sense your allies slowly rising to their feet, wounded but unyielding in their efforts and devotion.“It’s over.” Dorian says, voice hard. “You’ve failed.”“…gine…the key, my engine, mine…” She mutters, heedless of her condition as she marches closer and slowly reforms a twisted arm from the top of her shoulder, a weak, flailing thing. It takes you a moment to realize she’s not even staring at you. Rather, she's staring past you, focused on the pillars just behind where you stand. She’s focused solely on the one thing she still believes will be her salvation.HP: 16%BIO: 100% (7 Platelings, 2 Recursive Drilling Swarms(No slot), 1 Knighted FuzzBuzz + 2 Knights, 1 Scarlet Drone, 11/18 Active) CONTENDER: Empty, Lion Heart FormRAVENOUS MAW: Primed.ACT: 2/2Threat: Close, slowly approaching, catastrophically wounded. – 2 Turns until Engine RebootGG HP: 140% (Cloaked)RATH HP: 82% (Eight-Handed Form, Armored, 1 Ignition Gauntlet)DORIAN HP: 83% (Armor severely damaged, 1 Ignition Gauntlet, 4 Paintlings)RINGO HP: 163%MYRMIDON: 152% (Outside your control)YOU ARE IN CONTROL

>>3350795I think it’s gotten to the point now where we don’t need to worry about battle tactics. She could probably just jump on her back and beat her to death with hundred-handed.I feel like there’s a secret play here for a greater reward. For example, have Gina reverse the Engine while the Spartan tries to use it.First we need to determine what the Spartan actually wants to accomplish. As far as we know, the Engine just turns people to and from gems.
(Gentlemen, voting shall close one and a half hours from now.)
>>3350808battle tactics should never be ignored. even if you only need a simple one, never think your enemy is out of tricks until they not longer are alive. and even then, check for deadman switches.Spartan most likely is simply off her rocker, simply going for the engine out of habit and fear. however, this does not mean we should risk her having something else in mind and thus letting her get to it.
>>3350808>>3350819also Shu is herself far too weak to risk in melee in my opinion.
>>3350811Is Spartan reduced to just one arm, a torso and a head?
>>3350835(She has one leg, her pegleg, one regular arm along with her malformed one, and her head and torso. She also has one eye remaining.)
>>3350842Is there still a Tooth Forest in the Cistern? I need a still-standing bone tooth Stalagmite for Rath to use as a pulley.
>>3350858(There are enough, yes.)
>>3350819[Changed device]Obviously I'm not saying we let our guard down, but it's no longer a matter of everyone attacking her when she's a sitting duck. You want her neutralized?Let's have Rath and Ringo break/sever her limbs (starting with the pegleg), and have Dorian coat her from the neck down in a slime cocoon [it's been established that absorbing biomass from someone else's construct is highly inefficient, plus the slimes can act like a straitjacket], leaving an air hole on the back for the Scarlet drone that Gina is keeping active. From here, we can interrogate her before killing her and she should be helpless. We can have Gina use her normal jacks to try to paralyze her/lock her inside her own head if you want to go even further. But narratively, I don't think BHOP would frame the scene like this if the optimal move was just to kill her immediately.
>>3350869(There's also the point that since B'ni is no longer present, you'll find yourself with the option to spare or interrogate your foes far more often, since she's not around to end things quickly like she did with the Enigma.)
>>3350869eh, screw her though. what? its obvious its mother who shes talking about, like everyone else, she made her choice, and her post-choice...whatever you would call it, was mother basically promising her godhood and being everyone's salvation.we also already know how the engine works. she really has nothing to offer us, and no reason to give her sympathy, even by Shus metrics. ending her keeps us away from more surprises, and holding nothing back makes sure we have enough to overpower her. my votes so far the same.
>>3350881Also, Someone always gets her consciousness when we consume her, so its best bet to just kill her. Anything can happen out here, but trapped in your mind? Its a little safer.
>>3350888that too. literally the only caveat would be if we wanted to ask her if we can revive any more crystals, but considering i dont think they are exactly small?>>3350878and otherwise not already strewn about the place with her now much smaller size and the implication of how many she has devoured, im gonna guess they eventually get fully absorbed. and even if they dont, it would be strange for them to like, melt away or something, if she dies, considering removing one from her had no ill effects on it.
>>3350881>screw her thoughI'm not advocating we spare her, remember that the plan I just mentioned was to brutalize her into a comical level of helplessness so we could invade her mind before killing her. It's possible that there are additional operations that the Engine can perform, and in fact that is supported by Gina's interface. Remember how it said that she could reverse the next action it took? If there was only one operation it could perform [girl -> gem], it would probably just indicate the opposite of that operation instead.Let's find out what the Spartan is trying to accomplish, because it's possible that reversing this hidden process could let us, for example, save more people.
>>3350900>it would be strange for them to like, melt away or something, if she dies, considering removing one from her had no ill effects on it.That was a gem she hadn't eaten. We currently don't know of any way to save the people she's eaten, though the Engine might be able to re-extract them as gems, or something along those lines.
>>3350906nah, you have to remember coding wise it would still simply be reverse last action, and its also corrupted and might be remembering standard protocol. if we wish to save more people, the engine will do that, and as stated, its highly unlikely she has any info on getting more crystals. not worth the risk in my opinion, im against it.
>>3350911huh? we specifically tore that gem out of her body, it was just the most recent gem she had eaten, or implied to be so at least.remember? we shot a herculean through her and it came out the other side with the gem.
(Gentlemen, I just want to interject here to save you all a bit of discussion; the gem that was the refined Bloodied Myrmidon was the only gem that the Spartan had not had the chance to consume properly. At current, no other gems are available for retrieval.)
>>3350913We don't know how to make the Engine do that, but she knows at least one thing that we don't, and if we wait until we eat her, it will probably be too late to save her victims. There's no reasonable risk. We can remove her from contact with useful biomass. We can keep her in a straitjacket of sentient slime and razor wire suspended in the air while we paralyze her and suppress her powers, with multiple people who can each instantly kill her at the ready. We will never get a less unambiguously safe situation for an opponent we don't have the character sheet for.
>>3350922Ok then, thanks. So, Who votes for killing her as quickly and safely as we can? I do.
>>3350915>>3350922Our GM has even given us this incredibly unambiguous hint that the only chance we have of extracting the other victims is by using the engine before eating the Spartan.
>>3350922thanks for the clarification.>>3350924>>3350932yes, we CAN potentially keep her pinned and subdued, i simply still see no point in it. Shus at 16% health. one wrong move, one bad surprise, and she could die. end it, end the engine, go home and patch up on a successful mission, and one more horrible abomination no longer slaughtering daughters.
>>3350939so what? turn the engine into reversal and throw her in and hope she explodes into a hundred daughters?still sounds incredibly risky to me.
>>3350941>i simply still see no point in itThe whole reason we're down here is because we found this power-hungry slaughter morally reprehensible. This is our one opportunity to right the wrong and bring several people back to life instead of just being one link further up the food chain. Also, I'm totally fine with having Shu book it all the way outside the chamber, that's reasonable.
>>3350939Rather just nom her. We can only be expected to take so many risks.
>>3350943I feel like you're consistently only reading part of what I write. The goal is to find out what this other operation the machine can do is, and if the reverse of that would extract gems from her, do it. Otherwise, just execute her and divvy up her body like normal. With one of Gina's jacks in her head, we can listen to her rambling without it being garbled by her drowning in her own blood, and even interrogate her.>>3350953I think I already said this, but this is literally the most secure the situation could be without us having our enemy's character sheet.
>>3350786I believe that Spartan has something on her person that will makes her think will at least take everyone with her when she dies.Gina: >Act 1: Maintain Core ability Suppression >Act 2: Terraform a wall that blocks the way to the Engine. >>3350947>>3350962its not that im only reading one thing, its that i either feel only one thing is important or not basically repeating things, a bad habit of mine ill admit. regardless, no, the point of coming down here was to stop Spartan and destroy the engine to prevent further loss. we kill her, set the engine to implode, we will have done our job, and moreso already saved one more life then we thought we could. im not gonna sit here and risk more insanity from her, regardless of how defeated she looks. shes a danger until shes down for good, thats how i look at it, and refuse to look at it any other way, for any enemy.its not about gaining levels either. you want us to just burn or leave her body alone as IC we would find it too immoral to consume her? im fine with that, and can see the argument. ive never been one to power game in that way, i simply feel both IC and OOC the risks of letting her live outweigh the benefits of risking letting her live longer.we also dont KNOW theres another operation, you are just assuming that off of honestly flimsy evidence in my opinion. you have not changed my opinion on this matter one bit.
>>3350962You may have said that, but there's a whole lot that can hide on a character sheet. Bni should have taught you that.
>>3350966>I believe that Spartan has something on her person that will makes her think will at least take everyone with her when she dies.That's. . . . one reading>>3350786>She’s focused solely on the one thing she still believes will be her salvation.Anyway, thanks for including that first question, but we'd probably get better answers with Gina's jacks. Also might be good to have Dorian's paint cover her whole body so she can't ambiently absorb biomass. But that looks like the closest I'll get (outside of adding those amendments), so I'll take it.>>3350972>we also dont KNOW theres another operation, you are just assuming that off of honestly flimsy evidence in my opinion. We had the narrator directly tell us that the owner of this machine is trying to use it for something that we don't know it to be able to do. How is that flimsy? The only other interpretation is that she's trying to blow us all up, and that's not even a bad thing since the detonation takes too long.
Okay. Hear me out. After we consume Spartan for levels and set the Engine to Implode, does anybody want to give Bloody Mary a parting gift? I feel like giving her a little pet FuzzBuzz to her. Even when inactive (aka outside of Shu's Hive Mind Range) , it will still be a cute doll to play with.
>>3350988She seems to take herself way too seriously for dolls [she calls herself a myrmidon for chrissake], but I bet you Dorian could make her something nice.Or we could just let her take a level or two from our victim, she'd probably be very into that.
>>3350987i think you are misreading that line.its this one, yes?>She’s focused solely on the one thing she still believes will be her salvation.this isnt saying theres another function to the engine. its simply a character line, showing us that her entire self is focused on the engine. about how she has and still does see it as her route to victory, to ascending. >she STILL believes will be her salvation.>she still BELIEVES will be her salvation.thses both imply it does not have another function, rather, she simply has been so focused on what the engine can give her, that even now, she thinks it can give her more of the same power to win now. shes broken, bloodied, hopes dashed. shes not thinking clearly, shes not even paying attention to the threats around her. her entire focus is simply on 'the engine grants power. i need power. i must get to the power." none of it implies another function, merely a characters whos heads not on all the way reaching out to what they have relied on for far too long.>>3350988i mean, sure? not sure if she would want a FuzzBuzz but if we cant talk her into staying(which i know is unlikely) then leaving on good terms is fine by me.
>>3351010>>3350987So should we omit our interrogation questions or leave them in? Since Spartan's been using it so much to the point of religious fervor she might know more about the engine than we currently do.
>>3351019Definitely ask her about other functions. I have nothing against including the other questions too, since they're perfectly reasonable follow-ups IC.
>>3351019im still against it, but we seem kinda split on the issue.
>>3351019>>3351029i think its actually a perfect 3 vs 3 on just killing her her vs interrogating her so far, if you want specific numbers. But I.D.s and votes get muddled in our lovely conversations so i may of missed someone.
well its almost the 2 hour mark of our hour and a half deadline.so to make BHOPS job easier, if he needs a tie breaker, im willing to comprise in this way;>Everyones debilitates her. not capture, im talking limb removal and breaking and the like.>We ask her one question. "Can we save anyone else?">If no or shes incomprehensible, she dies.>If yes, we do what we can, then kill her, with weariness on her trying to trick us, and if it sounds like a trick, we dont risk it and kill her.>also the godslayer comment is mandatory.sound like a fair inbetween? no longer winded conversation, no mercy, only to the only point we should care about, and then get it over with. this is already more then id want to compromise on but again, tied vote past the mark.
I vote to kill.
>>3351090Would you accept Gina jacking into her just so we have a better chance of us communicating clearly? As she is, my earlier comment about her speech being garbled by her drowning in her own blood wasn't entirely a joke.Generally though, I'm fine with your planJust as an aside, remember the plan I put forward was to hack off her limbs first, and just do the slime stuff to make sure she didn't absorb ambient biomass through her torso or something.
>>3351101that helps little as you were already in the 3 v 3 vote, but i do appreciate the support.>>3351105my only worry there is less about if Gina jacking in is a good idea, and more about what happens if he nullification of their base ability stops or slips up from splitting her attention--wait, Gina has that 'full control' leash thing yes? earlier it may of been stupid risky, but now that hes barely standing? maybe?
(Writing now, Gentlemen. Apologies for the delay, work got a little busy at day's end.)
>>3351110That's a good point and I don't really know. I'm fine with whichever version BHOP decided on, I suppose. Thank you for the diplomacy. I'll aspire to work to improve in that capacity in future discussions.
>>3350786The Spartan sprawls on the floor when tensile strands loop around her legs, with Dorian quickly slathering the ground in a layer of slick paint to vexing any attempt to move forwards. She opens her mouth to scream at you when her words are drowned out by the sudden buzzing of your swarmlings, descending upon her and spearing through her hand and limbs, her prosthetic melted into nothingness by the efforts of your Banelings. You unholster the Contender with your chitinous replacement hand, squeezing Gina’s fingers with your left one before you start walking forwards. When Gina brings up a wall between the Spartan and her beloved engine, it’s all Rath can do to keep her steady until Ringo and the Myrmidon emerge from the settling dust. The Tindalos promptly plucks out your foe’s eye and cleaves off her vestigial limb in a single, fluid motion before sitting on the Daughter’s back, ensuring her forward efforts are hopeless. The swordswoman brings her blade to the Spartan’s neck as you stride to meet your foe, though when your gaze meets hers she gives a curt nod and steps back, razor-broadsword at the ready. You look down at the utterly helpless form of your once-titanic foe, reduced to a one-limbed wretch that struggles to reach the Corrupted Engine with everything she has. The Contender thrums with barely-restrained bloodlust as you weigh the question on your tongue.“Can we save anyone else?” You demand simply, and the Spartan grinds her teeth so hard they start to crack.“Dozens, and I will refine dozens more…” She growls, voice hoarse. “…I’ll bring them all here…every last one until I’m the only one left, and then …she said they could all be mine if she could study me, if she could see how it all worked…curious, and strong, too curious, by far…the engine would have eaten her too, I’d have seen to that…”A sudden lucidity alights on her rough-hewn features, as she smiles up at you one last time.“I am a God, Defiant. You’re just a fool.”"Why be a god…" You ask, loading the Contender and levelling it at the woman’s wretched face."…When you could be a Godslayer?”Karma roars with victory, and the Grinning Spartan breathes her last as your Parabellum exits her skull. Her head is reduced to little more than a puddle of gore and shards of bone, save for a curious, blackened piece of metal embedded deep in her grey matter…>>RELIC FOUND - CORRUPTED GEAR>>CORRUPTED GEAR: The fractured piece of a machine best left forgotten. Absorbing this Relic into oneself results in a permanent bond that removes the capability to heal through any means during combat, but grants one additional Consume choice whenever the option is chosen, allowing the bearer to choose two new abilities for the cost of one Consume, though this effect only triggers once per meal. A mind ruled by hunger, in a world of starvation…one could not be blamed for indulging, could they?(Continued)
>>3351163The Contender finally feels appeased, its pulse slowing to match your own as you slide it back into its holster. Ringo dismounts the body, and Rath skips back to you after shooting the Grinning Spartan’s headless corpse eight individual fingers on her way to your side. Gina’s immediately next to yoy as the Myrmidon paces forwards, giving you a curt bow as GG’s fingers weave into yours.“Thank you.” You say, giving the Bloody Myrmidon an appreciative nod. “If you want to devour some of what remains, then you’re more than welcome to. That would have taken a much greater toll on us if you hadn’t been here.”“I would not be here now if you had not gone out of your way to free me.” She replies with polite coldness. “I am in your debt, so I relinquish my rights to any spoils thusly. With this, I would like for us to be considered even. I do not wish to be in debt to anyone other than my Mistress.”You turn to look at the Spartan’s remains, a shudder of revulsion running through you. It’s not at what you reduced her to, but of what she was, what she chose to be. However, regardless of her choices or the monster she became…>>12 LEVEL UP POINTS AVAILABLE: DISTRIBUTION PENDINGYou need to get stronger.>>Distribute the Spartan’s remains.>>Investigate the Engine.>>Write-InYOU ARE IN CONTROL
>>3351176(Gentlemen, voting shall remain open for one and a half hours, and I imagine that in the next post we will collectively dive into the level ups available. You've certainly earned it after that fight.)
>>3351163>she said they could all be mine if she could study me, if she could see how it all worked…>if she could see how it all worked...>studyWell well well, I think I know who was involved. Paging Dr. West.
>>3351176>Distribute the Spartan’s remains.Discounting Ringo who is an Amalgam, there are four of us. So three each?
>>3351176well, i think that was a nice inbetween. good job BHOP.>Distribute Remains>Set Engine to Implode and get home.>>3351186you may be right...west might be a bigger immediate threat than i thought.also, thoughts on the Corrupted Gear? im thinking its worth using actually, but for some reason my minds saying 'not Shu' on who to give it too, but i cant think of who else. maybe Amara, as shes basically fucked if she gets hit anyways, but extras CONSUMES would help her get more defensive's options, aswell as the HP and BIO buffs that come from levels ups, at a higher rate, helping to offset her starting negatives faster?
>>3351200i think its not unfair to say we should give Dorian an extra level or two, to help him catch up.
>>3351176>Distribute the Spartan's remains>Ask Dorian if he's okay with destroying the Engine. Warn him that destroying the engine will likely destroy his Ancestral home and a good chunk of his estate in the processHey BHOP. Do we still have our severed arm in our stomach or did we accidentally nom it with our Ravenous Maw? I would like to reattach our human arm.
>>3351200>>3351220I think Rath is doing fine right now, so we should take one of hers and give it to Dorian. Gina and Shu can each have three.By the way, I have a proposal: We hold on to the gear in hopes that we can force-feed it to B'ni and negate her core power.
>>3351252im actually of the opinion we take one away from Gina. she needs an offensive option still in my opinion, but doesn't need three levels of one. and her kit is otherwise just as hefty as Raths.that, and with B'ni gone, we need to get Rath, Julia, and Dorian up to snuff a bit more, so our Melee options are less reduced. again, i wish to finally get Gina a offensive option, but she honestly will never be a replacement for a melee fighter, only that giving her a direct damage option leaves her less vulnerable and more fluid in use.as for the gear....eh. i mean, thats not a bad idea at all, honest. its actually a good idea. but the question becomes; is it better to hang on in hopes we can accomplish that plan, or use it now so we are better suited to not have to rely on a single plan later? neither option i think is bad, only that the first would have to be a commitment to using it on her and making sure said plan will work once we get to that point. and thats alot of planning.
>>3351268Despite it not being built for the purpose, Gina has been shown to even be able to kill giant amalgams with her terraforming neuromancy. I think if we just keep leveling that, then we'll be good. That and I think for her style we'd need long range attack options, because giving everyone some of everything is not a good principle for a team composition. Our opponent might have those, but she looked like she was midrange at best until like level 6.>is it better to hang on in hopes we can accomplish that plan, or use it now so we are better suited to not have to rely on a single plan later? Well, in my view, the downside is really crippling, and setting someone up to consume consume consume and end up like Doctor West in terms of power spread is also a single plan (not that it's a bad one).
>>3351176>retrieve our severed arm from our stomach and re-attach it to our arm-stump. I really don't want to have a bug arm. Hopefully we can retch out our human arm and reattach it. BHOP, is the Bug arm our new default arm or can we regrow our human arm back? I originally intended to have the replacement limb made in-combat with the impulsive swallow as a way to retrieve our arm for safe keeping before reattaching it.
>>3351310>>3351227(The severed arm is no longer in your stomach, but you are certainly able to re-grow a normal looking one via your basic post-combat regeneration. The chitinous arm is merely an after-effect of your base ability coloring how the Hundred-Handed replacement looks.)
>>3351176Also, tell Myrmidon "It's not me you should thank, but GG."Our partner deserves recognition for her efforts. She's the one that reversed the Engine's function to allow her to be revived at all.
>>3351296eh, i simply disagree. Terraforming locks her position down too much and is far too expensive to rely on, aswell as using on the enemy distracts from its other uses. its been a long time goal of mine to get her an actual offensive ability so ill just go ahead and tell you you wont change my mind on that.i also disagree heavily on that second point. it all depends on how you play. i NEVER have full support characters or classes in my own games, and it usually works out better in my opinion, because having everyone be able to do a lil bit of something BUT focus on one or two things still makes it where if bad luck or circumstance negates one thing, no one becomes dead weight and can still contribute, aswell as it can throw opponents for a loop when your 'healer'suddenly dishes out a not too bad hit.>Well, in my view, the downside is really crippling, and setting someone up to consume consume consume and end up like Doctor West in terms of power spread is also a single plan (not that it's a bad one).that is fair, but do remember base Stats and Stat bonuses still grow from consuming, so its not AS big a disadvantage as you may think, and we dont have to always go for Consume either still. healing is already kinda minimal without having a regen build as it is, so its not a big trade off when you actually look at how fights have gone anyways.>>3351310im ok with bug arm, a reminder of what is at stake, and what deeds we have done. also i think we consumed our arm for raw biomass to regrow the arm in the first place?granted, if it was something like the face, id be all for fixing it, and i understand not wanting to look too monstrous, but one arm isnt too bad and honestly sounds kinda cool. its the inside that decides if you are a monster or not, not the outside.but i also have little strong feelings on it and only simply dont want to waste forge resources on it or anything.>>3351331oh, well that solves that.
>>3351268>>3351296While this relic may have its uses, The Mechanics that this Relic exploits is best used for a "Feast or Famine" playstyle, which I feel like it doesn't fit with the playstyle/team composition that we as a group run. My vote is that we don't equip it. Even if we can't use this relic we could always Barter this Relic for another Daughter's Relic. >>3351176>Have Gina reveal herself from the cloak. The Combat's over. >"No need to thank me. If it weren't for Gina's efforts in figuring out how to reverse the Engine process, we wouldn't have been able to revive you.">"As for the Engine... I don't know, what do you think Young Master Gardner? The Machine is sitting in your Ancestral Estate, you were the owner of this piece of land before the Crucible.">"I do must warn you, Destroying the Sparagmos Engine will likely destroy your mansion and a good chunk of the forest. Are you sure you want to destroy it?">Pet The Ringo.
>>3351333>that is fair, but do remember base Stats and Stat bonuses still grow from consuming, so its not AS big a disadvantage as you may think, and we dont have to always go for Consume either still. healing is already kinda minimal without having a regen build as it is, so its not a big trade off when you actually look at how fights have gone anyways.I remember that. My main concern is that is make emergency healing for a partner making death saves impossible.
>>3351347>>3351350eh, fair enough. i honestly care less about the Relic than other things, only thought it could be a neat way to help boost up our lower level characters. lets at least make sure we get a good trade off for it, if we do go that route.im not giving up on the Gina thing though, even if i have to keep going for it til the game ends!
>>3351332>>3351176This I'll support. >>3351333Now that we are on the subject of CONSUMING FOR LEVELSWe need to discuss Spartan's Abilities and whether or not it is worth consuming it. >>3351176BHOP, did Gina get a good look at the abilities that Spartan had in her kit when she went to lock her Gluttonous ability down?
>>3351366(Due to Spartan's state of mind, she was only able to identify a Gluttonous Core Ability, a Calcite Armorer skill set, some sort of muscular reinforcement power, and the blood-based ability that remains unclassified.)
>>3351372Are any of those abilities up for consumption when we pick a Consume option from CONSUMING her?
>>3351176Seconding >>3351347
>>3351372She's also confirmed to have Neuromancy terrain-affecting ability she used to summon huge teeth everywhere and knock everyone away after she made her teeth peg-leg.
>>3351376(Yes, though the spread of abilities are determined randomly. For example, if three options are available when CONSUME is chosen after a fight with a foe that possesses five skill trees, then they are determined via dice roll for each devourer. Unless, of course, some levels are put into a Gluttonous skill tree or you have a Relic that gives you broader options.)
>>3351366>>3351372i want to get the Hemomancy power, aside from the fact it looked useful, its another type locked down and under our belt potentially.Calcite Armor might be good for Rath. not even sure what the Gluttonous ability was, but it might be useful on someone with high BIO costs like Shu. Muscles is good for Rath or Dorian too, as it may give a upgrading tree to either, so Raths strength isnt so locked down in upgradability. and of course, its quite possible theres other abilities we do not know about. id say give everyone at least 2 points, one into Consume, and see where it leads, isnt a bad bet.
>>3351176>GINA consumes ALL 12 and makes Shu her SEXY MINDSLAVE.
>>3351389(Indeed, she does have Neuromancy.)
>>3351176>>Distribute the Spartan's remainsI vote we give the consume to Shu, since we are getting pretty close to death with our low health pool. So whichever ability increases Shu's health pool we should take. If any other good abilites show up, we'll just have to adjust point distribution to lean toward Shu.
>>3351389Offensive neuromancy! I like this for Gina, though I think it might be the most useful for Shu.
>>3351395Hemomancy's good. but for whom? I would say Dorian would be best suited for Hemomancy due to the nature of his core ability. He could play merry hell with his target's blood stream AND give them lead poisoning at the same time. That Fibromancy power will be DOPE for Rath. But consuming will be an iffy due to the Random Dice on what we get for consuming. >>3351405We'll have to find a HP/BIO regen ability to consume then from Spartan I'm also for upgrading our Swarmling Ability.>>3351406Gina can already do that. We've used Offensive Terraforming Neuromancy multiple times to great effect.
(I arrived home a little earlier than expected, and it seems everyone is in agreement as to how to proceed, so I shall go ahead and post the next update unless anyone has any objections.)
>>3351390(BHOP, I'm forgetting, but there was some ruling you made before about CONSUME. I think it was that we could lock in one point for CONSUME, see the options, and then choose whether we wanted to spend other points on those options. Is that right or am I misremembering something that would be too convenient? I think it was the reason Gina ended up taking all of Kosi's options, whatever it was.)
>>3351411>Upgrade swarmlingThis nigga gets it. We need to stop pussyfooting about being able to now what our friends are thinking and realize that we are lagging behind because of our fear.
>>3351420(That was a unique case on account of the connection between Gina and Kosi, as that was an exception to the rule.)
>>3351411>>3351406i mean, as much as id love to discuss who should get what...>>3351390its a moot point it appears. like i said, our best bet is to give everyone at least one Consume, as i dont think anything will be WORTHLESS, and sometimes powers get bent into a form that is more attuned to the Consumer, so i really dont think its a major risk, and also make sure we get plenty of options spread about.really im thinking even potentially 2 Shu, 2 Gina, 2 Rath, 6 Dorian. everyone else is pretty solidly built, while Dorian honestly might even be behind Amara in party usability, simply because she is so unique in her usability, while he is versatile and not useless, but overshadowed currently by everyone elses accumulation of levels and abilities. it would help him greatly to mesh with the team and not be considered to be catching up so heavily.
So how are we going to distribute the points? I kinda wanna have Dorian take 6 while Shu, Gina, and Rath take 2 apiece. Best Paint Boi is only lvl 1.
>>3351429(Rest assured though, that every Consume option taken will have at least three trees or enhancements available to choose from.)
>>3351419please, feel free to proceed. i think everyone wants to level up and destroy the engine(see, ask Dorian about it, but lets be honest, he isnt going to say no im pretty sure.)
>>3351429Oh, okay, thanks for clarifying.>>3351432Dorian isn't that bad, it's just his Critic form that sucks. I think Shu should get three so she gets one Consume and two Swarmling upgrades.
>>3351176Gina pulls the cloak away, revealing herself at last. The Myrmidon's pale eyebrows shoot up in alarm, but otherwise she makes no moves. "No need to thank me." You reply to the Myrmidons statement, squeezing Gina's hand gently. "If it weren't for Gina's efforts in figuring out how to reverse the Engine process, we wouldn't have been able to revive you.""Then you have my sincerest thanks, Gina." The Myrmidon says, bowing once more. Ringo pads over to you, and you reach up with your chitinous arm to rub her nose, bringing a smile to your face and prompting a tail-wag from the massive Tindalos. "Also..." The swordswoman begins, somewhat hesitant. "...I would like to invite you to meet my team when I rejoin them at the riverfront. We've been following the shoreline for some time before we came upon the boats here, so we were scrounging for materials to make them serviceable when I was...taken."You and Gina share a glance at this revelation."We may take you up on that, thank you Myrmidon...and as for the Engine..." You say, turning to Dorian "I don't know, what do you think Young Master Gardner? The Machine is sitting in your Ancestral Estate, you were the owner of this piece of land before the Crucible. I must warn you, setting the Sparagmos Engine to implode will likely destroy your mansion and a good chunk of the forest. Are you sure you want to destroy it?"Dorian thinks on it a moment, then fixes you with a resolute sky-blue eye."Do it." He replies, steadfast in speech and posture. "The only love I ever held for that place was on account of the people in it, and they're with me regardless of what happens to a place of brick and mortar. If it means this thing can't be used by anyone ever again, then it's a small price to pay, Miss Shu.""Alright then." You say, turning to the remains. >>3351568This looks like a nice spread.>>3351456Changing my vote to this. I'm still in favor of giving Gina a point into Neuromancer. She needs to do more than just stand there and spend all her actions locking down an ability. That's why the Scarlet Drone exists. Have her neuromancy upgraded to the point where she can Multi-task and free up brain power. Although if we're looking to upgrade her brainpower, we really should be upgrading Neurotic Halo.
>>3351568I'm okay with either version of this. I'd normally prefer Gina get one of Dorian's consumes, but this is really close to what I wanted anyway.

>>3351778That would be by upgrading the base Neuromancer tree, right?
>>3351786the Scarlet Drone is already a duel Tech, so id think we just have to try it? i mean, worse case, we spawn a Scarlet Drone and throw it some armor platelings. considering everything though, swarmling would actually probably be the tree to upgrade, as upgrading swarmling has consolidated option and granted new ones, and technically it is a swarmling variant.
>>3351756Literally its just "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility." If we dont abuse it, it doesnt hurt anyone.
>>3351793Oh, we can also experiment by using our construct sculpting on a swarmling, since that's been show to give us new spawnable forms before.

Now that I think about it, if Ringo held up her end of the bargain by stopping Spartan from using the Corrupted Engine, is Ringo free to do as she pleases? She even stopped Shu and co. from using the Engine in the Factory bunker. Also, I think she's the perfect support character for Amara. Amara doesn't have much in her kit for offensive and defensive purposes, and both Ringo and Amara get along really well.
>>3351901I get the feeling that she'll decide it's safer for her contract for her to return to the original engine room.
>>3351456SHU - LEVEL UP>>RAVENOUS MAW (Lvl 5): Your ever-hungry second mouth expands its palate, and is now able to restore BIO equal to 20% of the damage it deals to your foes, consuming their very essence on the spot to restore you own reserves of biomass. Additionally, the critical hit inflicted by EXECUTIONER'S JAW now deals triple critical damage when it lands. (HEALTH+20%)>>HUNDRED-HANDED (Lvl 2): The dexterity of your crafted hands increases, allowing them to manipulate complex devices with ease. Additionally, at a cost of 5% BIO per hand, you may now spawn limbs on any constructs you control, allowing your long-held dreams to finally come to fruition...if you'll pardon the pun. (BIO REGEN+10%)>>CONSUME (OPTIONS TO FOLLOW)GG - LEVEL UP>>NEUROMANCER (Lvl 6): slowly acclimating to her increasing control over the world and people around her, each use of Gina's Neuromancy is reduced by 20% of the base cost, allowing her increased versatility on the battlefield regardless of how she chooses to exert dominance. Additionally, she is now able to intensify or hasten the negative status ailments suffered by her foes when jacked into them, spending one ACT to forego any other Neuromantic effects to immediately speed an ailment by two steps, or apply two additional levels of any Stacks currently on a foe.(BIO+20)>>CONSUME (OPTIONS TO FOLLOW)RATH - LEVEL UP>>PHANTOM LIMB (Lvl 2): like a Hydra, where one extremity is severed, two more come in its place. By using 15% BIO when generating a limb, Rath may now create a REPLICANT LIMB, which automatically regenerates into a pair basic limbs when severed. Additionally, REPLICANT LIMBS boast a 20% increase in attack power, which is further enhanced by any strength-boosting mutations she has active. (HEALTH+20%)>>CONSUME (OPTIONS TO FOLLOW)(Continued)
(Electricity is flickering due to a storm, so the updates may be delayed. My apologies, Gentlemen, so I'll post when the internet comes back on in waves.)
>>3351912oof, that rough, but no worries. we can be patient.
>>3351908>allowing your long-held dreams to finally come to fruitionThanks BHOP! I'm very excited for arms everywhere.Note to the thread: If Shu gets an option that gives her more constructs, it is now meaningfully more valuable.
>>3351908DORIAN - LEVEL UP>>UNKNOWABLE HUE (Lvl 2): The toxins inherent in Dorian's paint form grow more potent, allowing him to temporarily reduce the effectiveness of HEALTH REGEN passives and skills by 20% if he has inflicted damage with a melee attack. Conversely, Dorian's drones now decrease the efficacy of BIO REGEN passives and skills by 5% per drone attached to the target. Focus and determination are the artist's friends, and now you are, too. (BIO REGEN+10%)>>UNKNOWABLE HUE (Lvl 3): Dorian's forms may now be augmented when he shifts into them by expending 1 ACT to make them Inspired Forms. Inspired Critic drastically boosts the critical hit chance and attack power of the talons Dorian spawns, while Inspired Canvass solidifies his core paint form, allowing him to take half damage from critical hits suffered in this form and granting resistance to slashing and piercing damage while active. Finally, Inspired Creator drones cost 10% BIO but now apply poison at a far more aggressive rate, on top of being incredibly difficult to extricate from one's body once attached. When inspiration strikes, your foes are sure to feel it. (BIO REGEN+5%)>>UNKNOWABLE HUE (Lvl 4): Dorian's discipline and mastery over his own body has reached new heights, and he is now able to slip freely between impossible gaps and writhe out of inescapable grapples at no cost. Indeed, it is effectively impossible to hold Dorian down by any physical means and he may traverse difficult or narrow terrain without expending extra movement or taking damage. Furthermore, he gains a minor resistance to Neuromantic attack or debilitation skills of any kind, as the inner workings of his mind become more resilient, his goals becoming clearer in his mind. (BIO REGEN+3%)>>CONSUME x2 (OPTIONS TO FOLLOW)(Continued)
>>3351934SHU - CONSUME>>HUMORAL MAESTRO (Lvl 1): You have begun to gain mastery over the liquid that makes up the majority of your body. You may spend 40%BIO to conjure a small baton in your hand, a manifestation of your burgeoning skill. With your Conductor, you may exert control over a variety of fluids, from acid, to bile, to the very blood within your foes, given time. You may use your a free action once per round to direct a liquid to intensify its effects, slow its effects, or move in a single direction according to your command, as long as you are holding the baton in a hand. Finally, you gain resistance to acid-based attacks, and if this stacks with any other sources of acid resistance you may have, you gain immunity to acid as a whole. (BIO+10%)>>REACHING HUNGER (Ravenous Maw Augmentation): for the tongue to taste before the teeth can sever, is there anything more unfair? The teeth of your second mouth gain a Calcite enhancement, allowing them to spear forth a medium distance to pierce foes. Additonally, the reach of your Ravenous Maw's tongue is increased to Long range. (HEALTH REGEN +10%)>>GLUTTONOUS BROOD (Swarmling Augmentation): likes bees returning home with a full harvest of pollen, so to will your Swarmlings bring you a bounty of flesh. Now, when your creations inflict damage on a foe, they will store 20% of the damage within themselves as regenerative biomass, and gain the ability to restore your health upon returning to you. While the health is lost if the swarmling is destroyed on the return trip, clever use of this system you allow you to establish a blissful cycle to benefit from the piecemeal destruction of your foes. (HEALTH +20%)(Continued)
>>3351912((I think I know where you live, BHOP. I also have a storm))
>>3351937GG - CONSUME>>SPARK OF BRILLIANCE (Lvl 1): Gina has gained an ability previously displayed by Doctor West, and which the Spartan lacked the celerity of mind to use with any efficacy. Now, as Gina moves about the battlefield and takes damage, she slowly builds stacks of GENIUS at a rate of 1 stack per movement zone traversed, and 1 stack per 10% HEALTH lost to a foe's attack. Gina may then expend five stacks to project an incredibly powerful static burst in a foe's direction, which has a high chance to deal a critical strike and also jump to another nearby foe when a critical is triggered. Stacks decay after combat or if Gina does not move or take damage after a single round passes. (BIO REGEN+10%)>>SANGUINE PHYSICIAN (Lvl 1): to play with another's physiology is a curious thing, and to become accustomed to it is stranger, still. Gina now boasts the ability to grant a steadily growing selection of buffs to her allies, allowing her to scale their HEALTH and BIO levels out of combat by up to 20%, decreasing one to increase the other. While it is a minor alteration at current, greater and more drastic shifts in the abilities of her allies may be possible through further and more prodigious experimentation...and she's someone you simply can't say 'no' to. (HEALTH +10%)>>EARTHEN MIND (Neuromancer Augmentation): Gina's terraforming abilities are enhanced, as her time manipulating the earth to your advantage pays dividends with this augment. Now, whenever Gina uses Neuromancy to alter the environment, she no longer needs to stay tethered to the fleshscape to ensure her creations stay active, though she may still choose to have them revert violently upon decoupling. Also, if terraforming is used to apply direct damage to a foe, the damage dealt is increased by 30%. Finally, the cost of altering the surrounding terrain is reduced by 20% BIO, though the total cost may not be reduced below 10% BIO per use. (HEALTH +30%)(Continued)
>>3351949>Now, whenever Gina uses Neuromancy to alter the environment, she no longer needs to stay tethered to the fleshscape to ensure her creations stay active, though she may still choose to have them revert violently upon decouplingDoes this affect the limit of her ability to change the terrain (e.g. making a series of permanent spires)? Aside from BIO, does it have a limit?
>>3351963(She is now capable of doing that, yes. Also, it has no limit but her own BIO reserves.)
>Earthen Mind:Holy shit. this is the Augmentation that we need. What we've always asked for. Now Gina can go full Earthbender without having to stand still! Now she doesn't have to choose between fully dedicating her resources towards Terraforming or Neuromancy during a battle!Shu's consume choice:Shit. I can't decide between Reaching Hunger and Gluttonous Brood. The Former lets us use our Maw more effectively at range while the Latter lets us become an active battlefield medic. But the Health Regen is Big for Shu with Reaching Hunger as is the LONG DISTANCE TONGUE. But Gluttonous Brood is such a game changer. Much of Shu's swarmlings survive, and rack up tons of damage. Battlefield healing is a thing that's super rare aside from relying on passive health and bio regen, that and the fact that we get 20% more health.
>>3351949RATH - CONSUME>>ALABASTER ENDOSKELETON (Lvl 1): In addition to her default skeleton, Rath now boasts a thin endoskeleton than runs underneath her skin, not unlike a Swarmlings chitin. Composed of flexible calcite sheets, this sub-dermal armor stiffens on contact with sudden force, redirecting 25% of damage suffered from Rath's HEALTH to her BIO reserves and inflicting the same amount of damage to her foes. Already a force to be reckoned with in close quarters, the sub-dermal plating allows her to throw caution to the wind in pursuit of a classic brawl with reckless abandon. After all, there's no time for mourning in the ring. (HEALTH +20%)>>BRASSBONE KNUCKLES (Phantom Limb Augmentation): Rath's regular and summoned limbs now boast a nigh-indesctructible metallic coating, a layer of refined and augmented golden iron that passively grants a 10% increase in melee damage dealt with fists, while also drastically reducing the damage from impact-based countermeasures carried by the enemy, allowing her to slug away at her foes to her heart's content. Hell has no fury like Rath in her element. (HEALTH +10%)>>AMORPHOUS STRAND (Tensile Strand Augmentation): Rath's connection to her own limbs and extremities is something she can live without...until it's time to spring a trap, of course. Rath may choose to reduce her Tensile Strands to a viscous liquid before reforming them as a free action, allowing her to catch foes unawares when her strand re-forms into the razor wire she favors. Her admiration of you is starting to affect how she approaches combat, and she's starting to realize the benefit of holding one's cards close to her meager chest. (BIO REGEN +5%)(Continued)
>>3351979>AMORPHOUS STRANDBHOP, this is so cool, how could you sentence it to death by putting it in the same selection as Alabaster Endoskeleton?
>>3352016OI! What about BrassBone Knuckles!? That's full Asura's Wrath Arms right there! Indestructible Arms! Increased punch strength! Massive Impact-damage resistance on those swole limbs!I'm telling you, BHOP is torturing us to choose between the memes of Senator Armstrong, Asura's Wrath and Monsoon.
>>3352016That's just how BHOP does things, anon. They're the best when it comes to creating absolutely bitching upgrades.
>>3352022Honestly my eyes glazed over that one at first, but I agree with you that all three are pretty rad.Honestly, for how things usually go, the endoskeleton is genuinely the best, as much as I wish anons would do trap-setting.
>>3351979DORIAN - CONSUME>>SCARLET TERROR (Lvl 1): There's power in the blood, it is a fact that's held true since the dawn of time. Dorian now possesses the ability to wrap himself in a sanguine armor at a cost of 50% BIO and 30% upkeep per turn, shrouding him in a semi-permeable membrane of flexible armor. Furthermore, if Dorian's foe is capable of bleeding, their wounds will be continuously drained of blood for as long as his armor is active and intact, continuously replenishing the armor's own vitality and ensuring its defensive efficacy. He is an artist, yes...but he is not one to be trifled with. (HEALTH REGEN +10%)>>IMPENETRABLE MIND (Passive): Dorian now boasts the ability to cloud his mind from the effects of enemy Neuromancers, rendering him immune to their mental effects and his mind and intentions unreadable to their perceptions. Additionally, his lines of communication to you via the empathic channel are rendered unable to be disturbed by any source. (BIO + 10%)>>WOUNDS OF CREATION (Unknowable Hue Augmentation): When Dorian suffers damage in either his Critic or Creator forms, he now automatically spawns an additional taloned limb or drone of the appropriate tier per 20% or 10% damage received, depending on the form he's currently in. Additionally, this talon or drone generation is compatible with Inspired forms at no additional cost. From pain, art. From art, life. (HEALTH +20%) YOU ARE IN CONTROL
(Apologies for the delay, that was downright painful to fight through but absolutely worth it. Voting shall remain open for two hours, Gentlemen. Good Luck and if you have any questions, please let me know.)
>>3352037will the same augmentations appear again in the future should we find another daughter or amalgam of the same class and consume her?
>>3352039(Yes. No worries, as while it may take some time for these options to appear once more, the odds are high you'll see them again.)
>>3352034>SHU>>REACHING HUNGER (Ravenous Maw Augmentation): (HEALTH REGEN +10%) the Maw now does TRIPLE crit damage and with this can grapple at long range? Plus natural health regen not reliant on any outside force? Yes please. Plus the teeth being able to spear outward is nice too, and helps make enemies think twice about getting close even further.>GG>>EARTHEN MIND (Neuromancer Augmentation):(HEALTH +30%) relying on taking damage just isn't worth it, and she typically doesn't need to be mobile enough to rely on that aspect. Also I feel like the second options stealing too much is Amaras thunder. And while its not the grandiose attack option I want, her not having to be tethered in place aswell as the reduced cost gets rid of major disadvantages that made me against considering it an attack option ill admit. >RATH>>ALABASTER ENDOSKELETON (Lvl 1) (HEALTH +20%) this or BRASSBONE KNUCKLES honestly is the best, but this one can LEVEL UP, which is great. The last one isnt bad, but I feel giving her better melee is a much greater advantage and fills the gaps left by...certain traitors, much more effectively at the moment. Also flat lives matter, you scum.>DORIAN>>SCARLET TERROR (Lvl 1): (HEALTH REGEN +10%) and>>WOUNDS OF CREATION (Unknowable Hue Augmentation): . (HEALTH +20%) kickass blood armor that drains the enemy? >>3352121well there are drawbacks to both types of health regen anon. Gluttonous brood gives us a method to get lifesteal by racking up damage, bypassing any toxic effects that debuff our passive regen (i.e. Dorian's Unknowable Hue Paint poisoning), Reaching Hunger gives us a passive health regen that while it isn't as fragile as gluttonous Brood, the regen continues unabated until a debuff fucks up the rate of healing. Good for long term. Gluttonous brood is good for combat where our Swarmlings can attack without retaliation. Its only when someone is specc'd into Anti-minion that it becomes a problem.
>>3352125go for Scarlet Terror, it fits his liquid state the best and gives us access to another Ability Tree Type! plus, draining the enemy of blood constantly is a major debuff to inflict.>>3352129i just dont like the image of Shu being in vital need of some stitching up but the enemy having caught on to the swarmlings and aiming to make sure they dont get back, or worse, poisoning the biomass within them somehow so all we do is hurt ourselves. nothing says the BIO/HP inside of them cant be fucked with by outside forces in any way.

>>3352037So BHOP, there's something that's bugging me now. Now that the Spartan fight is over, can you tell us what in the fuck that happened that got you laughing with the dice gods?
>>3352137>nothing says the BIO/HP inside of them cant be fucked with by outside forces in any way.Well, it can be destroyed, but remember that we can't even give it to allies. A glutton might be able to snag it, but the same is true of all constructs. Not to mention them taking it back means spending resources (ACT and/or BIO) to recoup a loss rather than make progress.
>>3352220(You rolled a natural crit on Ravenous Maw, and promptly rolled max damage, to boot. I rolled limb resistance and Spartan, who I designed specifically to be resistant to limb severing, rolled a natural one. She then got her arm taken off when you pulled that move with Rath, and at that point it became clear that Spartan was just doomed to have a miserable day.)
>>3352226No, i mean nothing says they cannot be poisoned or something else.
>>3352231Given that the Corrupted Gear relic was inside her brain, she quite literally had to kill us or die. The relic blocked any and all source of HP regen. oh. Oh wow. She rolled a Natural one for BOTH limb severing attempts? I thought Shu Nomming off Spartan's leg was plausible given the crit damage given our Executioner's Jaw trait (I'm copypasting it here in-case you forgot about it.) We were banking on having Executioner's Jaw auto-proc a Critical hit since we were sliding into very close range and biting down on her leg.>>EXECUTIONERS JAW: your Maw's teeth become a savage guillotine that deals an automatic and doubly effective critical hit to foes that are drawn close enough. Can also trigger upon being grappled to deal severe damage to anyone foolish enough to close the gap in combat. But her having a built in resistance to Slashing and failing to resist the slash damage on her pinned arm? Wow.
>>3352263(It was a series of catastrophic failures, and a thing of beauty.)
>>3352238Well, since it's being converted into a different type of matter, I think it's not generally a problem. Either way, since the mass is integrated into a living being, it'll harm that before it harms us, and there's no reason we can't take a half-second to check (though we already should know from our sensory connection)Also, ARMS!
>>3352278eh, the risk of never getting it in the first place is too much a drawback for me.
>>3352272all the better to see our battle plans executed in such a wonderful fashion.>>3352278>ARMS!I can't help but think of that Nintendo switch game.>>3352283Think of it as this. We don't lose much out of a few basic swarmlings, and if we play our cards right and manage our swarm smartly, we get rewarded with free health regen.
>>3352292nah, i still think the base regen is better, especially because remember, it comes with kickass Maw upgrades, while basically the other upgrade is ONLY health regen, but less reliable health regen.were choosing between an attack upgrade+Regen, or only Regen that we dont get right away and could potentially never get.
>>3352297>>3352278plus>>3352231>>3352263>>3352272the maw did us good this round, it deserves some love.
>>3352297But it's being very reductionist to say it's just regen. We're depriving basically any non-glutton of resources and we can grow a bunch of arms to tear them apart if we don't want to try to heal. Also remember that Maw can tag swarmlings for Reflexive Swallow.
>>3352309what are you even talking about? all it does is convert 20% damage into a material that CAN heal us. it doesn't steal anything from the person, only converts damage done into a new thing. it also gives health, not bio, meaning it doesn't give us any more swarmlings or arms via replenishing our Bio reserves.its literally just a a less reliable health regen.
>>3352319Yo dawg>>3352093I think you were right about the resource chicanery, but the arms thing was specifically confirmed. I wouldn't care about this at all if not for that. But it's actually the best application we could have for our swarmlings since we can avoid warping their bodies.
>>3352325you mean avoid warping Shu's body?
>>3352325explain what you mean on the arms, cause i cant find what you mean or anything. it also matter absolutely nothing to me, im not budging on this one. im hardly a fan of hundred handed either, and think our focus would be better spent elswhere.are you talking about our new ability to grow arms on swarmlings? that has nothing to do with this choice at all, or at least why i would or would not choose it.
>>3352329No, I mean that because they're carry extra biomass, they can use just that biomass and not biomass from their own functioning anatomy, making it much more of an upgraded form, where the normal arm application on a smaller swarmling would make it basically an arm with legs and/or a stinger.
>>3352338>>3352084>BHOP, does the regenerative biomass count as the Swarmling's own? And BHOP said yes, as I linked in the comment you were replying to.
also i think my last posted votes tally is still the current one, as i haven't seen an new votes or actual vote change confirmations.>>3352351er, not trying to be a dick here, but...no,you didnt. please go look back, you only linked to one of BHOPS posts and it was a different one, which i thought you were doing for a different reason.
>>3352357oh wait, yeah my bad, fuck i misread what the (you may) was responding to. pfffffffftttt FUCK this whole things becomes a mess to sort though.i apologize for that one fucking shit thats a retarded mistake damnit fuck.
>>3352338(I believe what he's trying to say by referring to what I confirmed is that while the Swarmlings are carrying the regenerative biomass, they can then use that reserve to spawn arms from or even repair themselves, if we follow that logic.)>>3352351(Anon, is that what you were referring to, if I understand correctly?)
>>3352364(Excellent use of Ava's Demon, by the way.)
>>3352371Can the swarmlings use the regenerative reserves they gathered to augment themselves? This question may sway my vote.
>>3352377glad to find a fellow fan.also the only tie so far is for Shus choice, and times almost up...anyone wanna trade a gluttonus brood vote for something? i could make Impenetrable Mind outwin Scarlet, or make Impenetrable and Scarlet tie, or make Alabaster and BrassBone tie?
>>3352381(I will rule that they can, because it does make the ability more versatile.)
>>3352386So just to confirm, Wtih Gluttonous Brood, The swarmlings can collect regenerative biomass by attacking their enemy. With that regenerative biomass, they can use it to either >Heal Shu>Repair themselves>Spawn Hundred Handed arms>or Augment themselvesConfirm?
>>3352371Yeah, you got it. Thanks for chiming in!
>>3352389(Confirmed)
>>3352392Well then. That has won me over. I will trade my vote from Reaching Hunger to Gluttonous Brood. I know it's a disappointment, but I can't overlook the fact that the longer a swarmling survives, the stronger they get from gorging on the honey they gathered from the nectar that is their target. It makes Gluttonous Brood more versatile.>>3352190For all that it's worth. I'm sincerely sorry about the vote. Reaching Hunger has its perks. I cannot deny that.
>>3352364No worries, I make lots of goofs all the time, including one that you corrected very graciously not long ago.
>>3352406damn, third round of upgrades ive lost out on the choice i truly care about. tällainen on elinkustannus.to note, im not mad or personally grudgeful against any individual, and hope you all vote based on your own wishes, it just sucks to be able to argue out a good strategy or dialogue option that gets listen to, but then constantly lose out on the tools that make it fun to participate in those. literally just venting here for my own amusement so dont anyone take it too heart.>>3352412thanks, means a bit to hear it.did i? you're welcome?
>>3352034>>SHU - GLUTTONOUS BROOD UNLOCKED>>GG - EARTHEN MIND UNLOCKED>>RATH - ALABASTER ENDOSKELETON UNLOCKED>>DORIAN - SCARLET TERROR & WOUNDS OF CREATION UNLOCKEDYou devour the Spartan's remains, and Gina sets the timer at Dorian's behest before you and your group exit the caverns in haste, emerging into the eternal dusk of the fleshscape. You reach the edge of the forest as a wave of static floods your body, and the six of you turn as one to see a pillar of twisted space, a wound that yawns open where Dorian's ancestral home once stood. It claws up to the sky with a heartless black light, reaches deep into the ground with abyssal beams, and brings at all collapsing into a singular point, Earth, sky, and mansion are all one for a brief, impossible instant. Then there's nothing at all.Dorian heaves a heavy sigh and with that, you collectively take a rest at the forest's edge. The Contender thrums at your hip as you settle with your back against a tree, and for the first time in a while the weapon glows with a gentle warmth, devoid of anger or vengeance. In its place is a simple, pure emotion that resonates deep within you, put to words when Karma speaks with a svelte tone.[Thank you, Master Shu]>>HEXANE CONTENDER - LEVEL UP(Continued)
>>3352489Wait, isn't Karma's text supposed to be inside of |these|?
>>3352489That voice, it's...|A message from my previous wielder, yes. A little pre-programmed congratulatory blurb, if you will, on account of being unable to congratulate you properly on your achievements in person, as of late. However,I must admit I share Charon's sentiments|You can feel Karma's eye crinkle in your mind, the ghost of a smile playing on her face.|It is a fine thing you did, Master...and it is a thing that brings us together as weapon and wielder||I would ask you use me well, but you have seen fit to do nothing but|HEXANE CONTENDER - LEVEL THREE UNLOCKED (SHU)>>SELECT ONE OPTION FROM THE FOLLOWINGCHOOSE ONE ADDITIONAL FORM FROM THE LIST BELOW>>CONTENDER - ÜBER SCHROTFLINTE: sound and fury, signifying carnage. The Contender’s form unfurls into a form that, while appearing antiquated, belies a terrible power. Most effective at close range, this form splits the Contender’s ammo into a shower of individual pieces, diminishing its efficacy at long and medium ranges in exchange for wreaking far greater devastation up close. The BIO required to load the break-open barrel increases by 10%, but now boasts a far greater chance for critical hit, guaranteeing catastrophic damage in melee range. Rip, tear, and repeat to your heart’s content.>>CONTENDER – PAVLICHENKO’S EMBRACE: death reaches out from afar, bringing one and all into her welcoming arms as shelter from the cold. The Contender’s barrel and stock lengthen, requiring two hands to wield as it assumes a rifle-like shape. Unfit for short or medium-range engagements due to the unwieldy nature of the form, it instead boasts peerless penetrative power, easily capable of tearing through calcite armor and flesh-weave coatings to bring a swift end to your foes, though the increased penetrative power requires an additional 15% BIO per shot to generate such a powerful round. Boasting far greater accuracy than any other form, it gains the additional benefit of making its rounds incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to remove from their target, ensuring your payloads reach full and lethal maturation. It is will a keen eye and a patient heart that you will usher your foes unto eternal peace.ORCHOOSE ONE NEW ALTERATION>>HEXANE DERRINGER: Increases the Contender's base ammo count to two rounds, and allows you to load two rounds simultaneously with 1 ACT. Due to a sleek dual-trigger design, it is possible to stagger your shots or fire both barrels simultaneously for maximum and immediate damage.>>BLADED SOUL:The Lion's Heart Rapier now allows you to fire its loaded round at the same moment the blade makes contact with your foe without spending an additional ACT. Additionally, any over-time effects contained within the round itself are automatically triggered on hit, resulting in a devastating blow.OR>>THREE NEW AMMO TYPES (CHOSEN AT RANDOM FROM POOL)YOU ARE IN CONTROL
>>3352504>>3352523Oh.
(Gentlemen, you have been fantastic as always. I will be pausing here for the evening and resuming tomorrow to close out this Vein. I'll be around for a while longer to address any questions, comments, or criticisms you may have. Thank you all so much for your continued participation and enthusiasm, and I hope you all have a great night.)
>>3352523>>HEXANE DERRINGER: Increases the Contender's base ammo count to two rounds, and allows you to load two rounds simultaneously with 1 ACT. Due to a sleek dual-trigger design, it is possible to stagger your shots or fire both barrels simultaneously for maximum and immediate damage.>>3352537fun as always BHOP, that was one tremendously well done fight. what time tomorrow do you think you will start back up?
(I shall resume in approximately ten hours from now, thank you.)
>>3352543We really need the sniper form, but the Derringer seems better for general-purpose things.
>>3352621i really dont think we do honestly. Shus honestly shifted from a long range fighter to a more medium range fighter, with some actually devastating close range options. i think theres nothing wrong with that, and going with that flow wont harm us at all if we do it right.plus, its ironically a good argument to put my earlier fears of getting the healing at all to rest, as shorter distance back and all that.also, the derringer is good at all ranges, which Shus ability to be at least acceptable at all ranges is actually really powerful, but the bulkiness and locked in range of the rifle heavily negates that and her ability to quickly react to the changing situation, at least a bit. while the accuracy is nice, we already have some devastating round types, and can make up for that penetration with new round types, instead of a less flexible weapon form. even the blade form at least doesn't effect the guns range or performance, leaving it available to all ranges.just my thoughts on it.
