/qst/ - Quests

Your name is Solomon and you are a servant currently serving Vivi D’roix. In the last thread, you attended [Magical Studies] and got paired up with Marcie Alabaster.

After class, you went on a quest with Vivi to find her class [Field Studies]. You were able to successfully locate her classroom even though you were 40 minutes late. Then you met back up with Marcie in the Occult Club room and learned the author of a book that she was reading. Her face becomes red when asked about it. You also learned more about [ancient magic].

>Learn a light-based spell (Preparation for next class [bonus])

>57

“I’m curious to learn the light-based spell, it will give us an advantage learning it now over the other students in the class,” you say.

“Light magic happens to be my specialty,” says Roland.

Hiren walks to the nearby cabinet and pulls out several papers on light magic.

“I’m assuming you two already know how to cast some type of magic or at least having a basic understanding of how to cast it. Next class Mrs. Alabaster will most likely be teaching the newer students the spell [Create Light]. It’s rather simple, to be honest. It creates a small floating ball of light from your hand, illuminating the area around you,” Hiren says.

“When casting the magic think about creating a small ball of light in the palm of your hand that expands outwards. Since it’s you’re first time say ‘create light’ for the chant. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t get it on your first try, it took Hiren 2 weeks to be able to do it correctly,” says Marcie.

Hiren places his hands in his pockets and turns his head trying not to make eye contact with the rest of the club.

“I’ll try first”, you say.

Following Marcie’s directions, you gather magical energy into the palm of your hand recalling the same feeling you use when you create your small [fire sprites]. ‘Create Light’. A softball-sized glowing light appears from your hand before quickly petering out (57).

“Good job Saul,” Marcie says clapping her hands lightly.

“My turn. ‘Create Light’ ” says Roland enthusiastically.

From Roland’s hand, a quickly expanding ball of light appears.

Illuminating the room in bright blinding light. Roland’s ball is about the size of a dodge ball (94). He plays with the ball of light tossing it from hand to hand before the light begins to fade away slowly.

>Learning [Create Light]

“That was amazing, and on your first try too,” says Marcie excitedly.

“I already knew the spell. Due to certain events that happened when I was younger, but it’s been a while since I had a reason to cast it,” says Roland.

Seeing Roland’s easily being able to cast the spell wells something up from inside you. You are more determined to cast [Create Light].

“I’m going to try again,” you say.

“Alright go ahead,” says Hiren.

Once more you gather the magical energy into the palm of your hand and say ‘create light’. You think of the large ball of light that Roland was able to make and try to replicate that. The light in your hand grows slightly larger than it had previously.

“Try to hold it there Saul, let the light slowly fade away,” Marcie says.

Following Marcie’s directions, you concentrate on holding the current size of the ball allowing the light to slowly fade away.

> [Create Light] Learned.

“Congratulations you can see in the dark now,” says Hiren sarcastically.

“Hush, Hiren. You did good Saul, never give up,” Marcie says.

“Thank you, even though my ball wasn’t as large as Roland’s I’m glad that I was able to get it right,” you say.

Roland looks at you with a nervous expression before quickly returning back to normal.

“Don’t worry about it Saul, I’m sure you will go far with magic. You seem to pick up on it quickly,” says Roland.

You nod your head slowly.

“Anyways, I have to leave early. My little brother wanted to speak about something personal,” Roland says.

“Oh, alright then. I'll be by your room later to speak to you about [Digging Holes]” says Hiren.

“Goodbye, Roland,” both you and Marcie say.

Roland stands up from the table waving goodbye and leaves the room.

Marcie inches her face closer to the table and starts to speak with a lower tone of voice.

“Did Roland seem different to any of you? His attitude seemed to change when Saul compared himself to him,” says Marcie.

“I’m sure he just has a lot on his mind being the elder prince. he probably went to his brother to speak about the crown,” says Roland.

“Do you think we should follow him to make sure he’s alright?” asks Marcie.

“Let’s respect his personal space and not follow him. I’m sure whatever is bothering him he can sort out himself,” you say.

Hiren nods at you in approval while Marcie crosses her arms sighs.

“I hope he does. What will you be doing tomorrow Saul?” asks Marcie.

“Tomorrow is my day off…I will be doing something personal as well,” you say not wanting to mention anything about Sally.

“I will be looking over some notes about [Digging Holes],” says Hiren.

“I can’t believe you took that class,” says Marcie apathetically.

“There was a random class option. I’m starting to think the class the option was rigged. Based off some talk with my other classmates.” responds Hiren.

“What will you be doing tomorrow Marcie,” you ask.

“I think I’ll spend the day reading and lounging around. I don’t have any plans,” says Marcie.

The three of you begin to discuss each other’s day as well as speculation of the kinds of ancient magic there are in the world. You look outside and see that time has passed by and assume it to be about 5:40 PM.

“Excuse me, I have to go pick up Vivi at her blacksmithing club when she gets out. I’m sure she wants to tell me all about it”, you say as you get up from your chair.

“I’ll be leaving as well then,” says Hiren.

“Thank you for coming after class Saul. I really appreciate having you both as a friend and class partner,” Marcie says smiling.

“Me too,” you respond.

Leaving the occult club room you make your way down the hallway and listen for any gossip the students are speaking of. The Academy seems to be in a lively mood this evening.

>[The Cooking club will be serving dinner today and tomorrow.]

You make your way outside of the academy towards the south gate. Vivi is waiting for you. Her wrists are crossed behind her back and she is swinging her body back and forth.

“Hello Vivi, how was your first day of Blacksmithing?” you ask

“It was alright (51), we mostly went over safety rules and how to use the forge. The girl with horns from Nobility Etiquette was there, we’re the only girls in the club. She looked really happy and interested when they were speaking about weapons,” Vivi says.

“I recommend you try to get to know her, you might share something in common,” you say.

“I’ll try…but if I can’t what should I do?” Vivi asks.

“Don’t give up. She’s not the only person in the club,” you say.

>Suggest we meet up with Mercedes

“For now let us see if we can meet up with Mercedes. She seemed really busy speaking with Mrs. Alabaster the Magical Studies professor earlier,” you say.

“We can talk about what we will do tomorrow, and what we can do when Sally comes,” says Vivi.

The two of you make your way back inside the academy and start to head towards Mercedes’s room. Inside you can hear Mercedes and Caren speaking about something.

“Mercedes are you inside? It’s Vivi,” says Vivi as she knocks on the door.

Mercedes opens the door and motions the two of you to come inside and to take a seat. On Mercedes desk, there are a couple of sheets of papers with various keys drawn on them. There is also a large list of things that you are unable to see going down the paper.

“I was just introducing Caren to the keys. She was curious about how Vivi seemed to look different than she did on the first day. I trust her enough to teach her keys like how I have been teaching you two. We were just going over the key to making items more durable and less likely to tear or break,” Mercedes says.

“I couldn’t tell you the number of times my vials have broken due to explosions or by being clumsy,” says Caren.

“We came to speak about tomorrow Mercedes. What are we doing on our day with Sally?” asks Vivi.

“Who’s Sally,” Caren asks.

Vivi looks at you then back to Caren.

“You’ll see tomorrow. Is there anything you wanted to do in particular tomorrow?” asks Vivi.

“I wanted to go to the town outside the academy. I’ve been here for four days and been wanting to go see it,” says Caren.

“We can go shopping!” says Mercedes excitedly.

“Saul can carry our bags for us and we will be free to walk around!” says Vivi.

“Tomorrow is my day off, there will be nothing of the sort,” you respond back.

“What do servants normally do on their days off Saul?” asks Caren.

“Sleep. Eat. Repeat,” you say flatly.

"Speaking of eating, would you like to go eat dinner now or later?" Mercedes asks.

>Go Eat Dinner now (Practice Keys Later)

“Let’s go eat dinner now. Vivi and I haven’t had the chance to eat much today,” you say.

“I heard that the cooking club will be serving dinner today rather than the servants,” says Caren.

The four of you leave Mercedes room and walk towards the dining hall.
There is a sign outside that states:

*Uramel Academy Cooking Club Dinner Service*

Today’s Meal: Tomato Parmesan Risotto

Dessert: Chocolate Cake

Entering inside, a girl with a dirty apron motions your party towards a nearby table. You take a seat next to Vivi across from Mercedes.

“Saul, what did you think of Mrs. Alabaster?” Mercedes asks

“I believe she will be an alright professor. While her buddy/partner system did not seem the best depending on who you were partnered up with. Her explanation of the system of magic seemed top notch,” you say.

“Are you happy with your partner? Who did you get placed with?” Mercedes asks.

“I’m quite happy with who I got picked for as my partner. I had already known her from the Occult Club. She is a 2nd year known as Marcie Alabaster,” you say.

“A girl Saul?! You best introduce me to her before you continue speaking with her,” says Vivi shaking your arm.

“Yes. Yes, the next time I get a chance,” you say.

>Ask where if anyone knows what Charles has been up to

“Does anyone know what Charles has been up to? Last I heard of him he was unable to find the classroom to field studies,” you ask.

“I saw him being carried over the shoulder unconscious by a large beast skin. Rena was following them, they were heading towards the hospital wing of the academy,” says Caren.

“Charles is in the infirmary! We should go see him,” Vivi says.

“We might have a chance to after dinner. For now, its best that we eat first. Charles would not want to see us on an empty stomach,” Mercedes says.

Just as Mercedes finishes her sentence three girls with messy aprons come up to your table.

“Hello we are the cooking club and today we will be serving the food. If you enjoy the meal be sure to tell a staff member if you would like to see more food like this,” one of the girls say.

“Today for dinner we are serving a creamy Tomato Parmesan Risotto. It’s a tasty dish full of savory eastern flavors, such as tomatoes, basil, and parmesan cheese,” the second girl says.

“We are sponsored by the Blue Moon Inn please use our promo code: “Uramel Academy” to get a discount on your next purchase,” the third girl says.

“Please enjoy,” the three girls say in unison.

Your group stops speaking and start to focus on the meal in front of them. Vivi completely forgets about Master Charles as you watch her breathe in the aroma surrounding her food. Her Enhanced Smelling must be making the meal more enchanting. After the cooking club girls leave, the four you begin to eat the delicious dinner that they made. The parmesan cheese mixed with the rice added to the side beautifully mixes the dish together. Absolutely delicious. It almost makes you want to see what the dessert tastes like. The girls soon finish their meals as well.

“That was really good,” Mercedes says.

“I must agree, the tomatoes were absolutely divine,” Caren replies back.

“I want more Saul. I want seconds,” Vivi says.

“Overeating is never a good thing, they’ll be cooking tomorrow as well I hear,” you say.

“Fine, but tomorrow I’m definitely eating seconds. Let’s go see Charles,” Vivi says.

You see the girls begin to clean themselves up and get up from their seats. Looking over to the cooking club staff you see several chocolate cake slices coming towards you.

>Have dessert to-go, bring along a full set of dinner for Charles just in case he is awake.

You stay sitting in your chair as the chocolate cake comes ever so closer. The chocolate cake that the cooking club has prepared has two layers, one of milk chocolate and the other of dark chocolate. The cake slice is laying on its side with a swirl of whip cream.

“Why aren’t you getting up Saul?” Vivi asks.

“I was thinking of staying for dessert, but it’s probably best if we just go see Charles,” you say.

One of the cooking club girls come up to your table with a slice of chocolate cake.

“Not enough room for dessert? Let me place it in a box for you to take to your room,” the girl says.

“Can we have one of the dinners to go as well? Our friend is in the infirmary,” says Mercedes.

“Of course,” the girl replies.

After waiting for a few minutes the girl from the cooking club returns with a large box containing Charles’ dinner and a smaller box containing Saul’s chocolate cake.

“Let’s go see Charles now,” Caren says.

>[1/2]
>>
Leaving the dining hall you follow Mercedes towards the location of the infirmary. Passing by your room you can hear the girl singing softly from the inside. Nearing the infirmary you can see Rena standing outside, she looks tired beyond belief.

“Hello Rena, is Master Charles inside?” you ask.

Rena turns and stares blankly at you, looking up and down at your current appearance then begins to speak.

“It is currently not visiting hours if you wish to see Master Charles come back later,” Rena says.

“But we brought him food, and cake from the dining hall,” Vivi says.

You stare at Vivi and the cake within her hands.

“I honestly don’t care anymore. This day has been a pain in the ass,” Rena says as she opens the door to the infirmary.

The lights are dim when you enter the infirmary. There are several beds with the curtains closed. Near the door, there is a glass case full of what you can assume is medicine. You can hear large footsteps coming in your direction.

Dr. Fredrick is wearing a large lab coat, in his hands, there is a clipboard.

“Currently it isn’t visiting hours. Meaning that you kids have to leave,” Dr. Fredrick says as he walks up to your group.

“We came to see Charles and see how he was doing. We brought him food from the dining hall,” Mercedes says.

“Leave the food on the table, currently it isn’t-,” Dr. Fredrick is interrupted.

“Let them come see me, they are friends of mine,” you hear Charles say from behind a curtain.

“Only for a few minutes then,” Dr. Fredrick says reluctantly.
The group moves towards where Charles is laying. Charles looks mostly healthy, but his eyes are a little droopy. Vivi is the first person to his side.

“Charles! Are you alright, nothing is hurting?” Vivi says worriedly.

“I’m alright Vivi, I just fainted from exhaustion is all. Dr. Fredrick says I’ll be free to leave in the morning. Thank you for your concern,” Charles says.

“We brought you food from the dining room. It’s really good! Also, Saul brought you chocolate cake,” Caren says.

“Thank you so much it really means a lot for you to bring me dinner.

Also Saul how did you know that I liked chocolate? Did you ask Rena?” Charles asks.

“…Yes, I asked Rena if you like chocolate,” you say slowly.

“So thoughtful, thank you for the cake Saul,” Charles says.

“Why did you faint,” Mercedes asks.

“I don’t normally run from place to place and request Rena to fetch me things that I need. I was unable to find the field studies classroom. When I did find it I fainted in front of the doctor just as he was about to leave,” Charles says.

“I’ll make you a potion that is said to increase stamina,” Caren says trying to flex with her arm.

>Tell the girls that it’s best that we let Charles get some rest

“It’s best that we let Charles get some rest. Rena is giving me a death stare,” you say.

“Can’t we stay a little longer Saul?” Vivi asks.

“You can see me tomorrow Vivi during breakfast,” Charles says.

“Oh alright, but first come here for a hug first,” Vivi says.

Charles sits up from the bed and hugs Vivi as she snuggles him into her buxom. Looking over to Rena her stare has intensified even more at your mistresses actions. She doesn’t seem to approve of Vivi shaking her head. Dr. Fredrick still seems to be trying to get in a conversation with her, but she isn’t listening. When Charles is able to breathe again everyone goes up to Charles and gives him a hug goodbye. Leaving the infirmary Rena stops staring at Vivi and turns to Dr. Fredrick finally acknowledging his presence.

Your group begins to head towards Mercedes room when you are stopped by a familiar face.

Henrison Cheruex [Prince Roland’s younger brother] He looks worried.

“Solomon correct,” Henrison asks.

Quickly shifting your attitude to that of a servant, you respond back.

“Yes. You’re Majesty,” you quickly respond.

Your group seems to be uneasy at the Prince’s sudden appearance. The prince looks at your group, then behind him, and looks behind you as well.

“I need to speak with you in private,” Henrison says.

“Saul isn’t going anywhere!" Vivi says.

“Don’t make me order you to come along with me,” Henrison says as his worried expression becomes serious and demanding.

“I’ll return soon my Mistress. Go along with Mercedes to her room,” you say.

“But-” Vivi’s mouth gets covered by Caren and begins to lead her away from you two.

“Come with me, don’t draw attention to yourself,” Henrison says as he leads you to a room that you assume to be his.

The room is fairly simple in decorations, but also has a secondary room attached. Much like your room set up with Vivi, but larger.

“Let me get straight to the point. My brother is missing and I haven’t seen him since breakfast. Have you seen him at all today?” he asks.

“I saw him during our meeting with the Occult club. He left rather quickly stating that he was going to speak to you about something, your majesty,” you say.

“Was there anything that happened before that event?”

“We were practicing light magic, then I compared my ability to his. Before he left the room,” you say.

Henrison face become red before flipping his desk on the floor.

“That fucking idiot! Do you know where he might be?” Henrison asks.

“He might be the in magical studies classroom. Maybe he is studying magic in there,” you say.

The prince makes his way towards the door but stops short.

“Pick my table back up and go back to whatever you were doing,” Henrison says as he leaves the room

“As you wish your majesty,” you say bowing.

As you place the desk back upright a key falls out of one of the draws.

The key is labeled Roland Cherux. Turning your head you look at the door that is attached to Henrison’s room, it is most likely Roland’s room.

>Look for Roland in the Garden

>62

You decide to place the key back in the drawer that it fell out of. Invading Roland’s room and privacy isn’t something you should be doing. If you are caught, meeting Vivi’s father may come sooner than expected. Leaving the Prince’s room, you decide to go towards the garden in search of Roland. You recall him arriving at the location of field studies earlier. Leaving the academy you make your way towards the garden. By the time you arrive at the garden, the sky has grown dark and it’s become harder to see. The vegetation on the “Goddess of the Earth” statue is glowing a faint blue. You decide to cast ‘Create Light’ for better visibility in the dark.

>It’s a good thing you practiced it, negative rolls suck.

Not having any real sense of direction of where Roland might be you make your way into the garden, making sure to stay on the path. You go deeper into the garden more than you have previously gone before. You’re not sure how large the garden really is. You remember that there was gossip earlier about large beams of light. Soon the light that you created fades back into nothing. Once more you are surrounded by the darkness of the garden. You begin to chant 'create light' again, but then in the distance, you can hear an explosion go off & a voice faintly.

>>Approach Cautiously

You decide to approach the noise cautiously. While finding Roland is important, the explosion in the distance makes you worried for his health. You approach the bush line where the origin of the explosion was. Carefully looking over you see a bright blue glow of a man looking at the kneeling form of Prince Roland. The man is fragmented and pieces are falling off his body as he begins to speak.

“852 tries. “Slightly better this time”. You hear the glowing man speak.

His voice sounds young, composed, and mature.

“My time here is over. I’ll be watching over you” the strange glowing man says.

The man turns in your direction instantly freezing you in your tracks. A strong wind starts to blow and pieces of the glowing man drift away before completely disappearing. Making sure that the presence of the man was gone you approach Prince Roland. There doesn’t seem to be any visible damages to his body, but he is knocked out and doesn’t seem to be waking up anytime soon. It is currently night time. Carrying the elder prince back to the academy could be difficult, but leaving him here and calling for help would leave him vulnerable.

Tricky.
We're almost lost. The prince is most likely very heavy. I seem he has spent most of his stamina and will not wake in the near future. And don't we have some thing to attend later?
Now if only Charles wasn't in the infirmary we could have made a flare to get his attention.
>Well first thing's first, asses your surroundings, see if you are confident finding your way back. If so: Run back to school and get the medic/appropriate personnel.
>Else asses the prince, check pulse and breath, is it possible to have him wake in the near future? Possibly drag him to a bench if so.
>>
>>3343055
If the pond is nearby, we can try dragging him there and splashing water on his face. Speaking of which, don't we know a spell for creating water or something? Or am I mistaken?

Otherwise, try to shake him away for a minute or two, then start dragging him back, heading for the infirmary, unless we meet someone along the way. (yay! party in the infirmary!)

>Try to carry Roland back to the Infirmary

>21

You decide that it is best to carry Roland back to the academy. You check his breathing and heart rate they both seem normal, but it’s better if Dr. Fredrick sees him. You cast ‘create light’ to get a better view of your surroundings. You are not confident that you will be able to run back to the academy and find help, and able to locate the elder prince again (21).

You try to pick up Roland and carry him on your back. He is much heavier than you expected, his full body weight is pressing down on you. It takes you a few minutes to carry Roland pass the bush line, before having to place him down at a nearby bench (21). At your current pace, it would take you another hour before reaching the academy.

After catching your breath you stand back up and reach for Roland. Once more you see the glowing blue color that the man had surrounding Roland.

“I’ll help you out, Solomon. He won’t be moving anytime soon due to being in a state known as [i] Null [/i] ”, an unfamiliar voice from behind you says.

Turning around the man that was with Roland appears out of a glowing blue portal. Getting a closer look at him, he is wearing white robes that go down to his ankles they are decorated with small blue squares. He is also wearing a small hat of similar design.

“I was tasked by the king to watch over the two young princes during their time here at the academy. Now if you would assist me in carrying the Elder Prince back to the academy, your help would be most obliged. I’m weakened from an earlier activity with the prince and would like to get some rest myself,” the glowing man says.

>Trust him if he is the same guy.
>"Who are you? What are you? How do you know my name?"
>Ask the ghost if it is possible to wake the prince, if so: Solomon use water gun!

“I’ll help you, can we wake him up with water?” you ask slightly trusting the strange man.

"If only it were that easy young one, come help me carry him by the shoulders," the strange man says.

The two of you walk over to Prince Roland and pick him up carrying his shoulders. After walking a little bit you begin to question the strange man.

“’If you were tasked by the king to watch over him, why did you leave him in the dirt? He could have fallen ill,” you ask.

“The elder prince is immune to things such as ailments, also I knew you were nearby. I wanted to see how you would interact with the prince if he was left in a ‘vulnerable’ state,” he says.

“How did you know my name?” you ask.

“As I’ve said, watching over the princes is my duty, including those he has interacted with,” the strange man says.

“Who are you? What are you?” you ask.

“I’m a human just like you, for whom I am, I can’t answer... Would you look at that? The younger prince is here.” the man says answering your question vaguely.

Looking away from the man you see Henrison walking in your direction before breaking into a sprint. Soon the weight of Charles is once more pressed upon you as the strange glowing man disappears.

“Solomon, thank goodness I found you. He wasn’t in the classroom so I came to check the garden before it got too dark.” Henrision says.
Henrision goes to Roland’s empty side helping lift him up.

“For now don’t speak. Let us get him back to my room, the infirmary is much too of a social location,” Henrison says before you can reply.
>>
Soon the two of you reach the entrance of the academy. Henrision begins to chant an unknown spell spewing out a dark purple mist from his nose and mouth. Your bodies become transparent, and faintly glow purple.

“With this, we can’t be seen when entering the academy. Be quick it only lasts for a short time,” he says.

Once more the two of you quickly carry Roland back into the academy. Passing by the infirmary you see Dr. Fredrick standing guard outside. Henrison motions you to not stop and to keep moving towards his room. Eventually, you find yourself back inside the Prince’s room. You rest Roland on his brother’s bed.

“Solomon,” Henrision says in a serious tone.

“Yes your majesty,” you say.

“The actions of which have just transpired, I order you to not to speak off in great detail with anyone. If you must speak about your actions tonight with your master leave out anything regarding my brother’s health,” Henrison says.

“There was a strange glowing blue man who assisted me in carrying your brother so far. He told me your father requested he watches over the two of you,” you say.

“I’m aware of the man, but I don’t think my father requested anything of the sort. He would have told us. Regardless, I thank you for your service to the crown today Solomon, if there is something you need I may be able to provide it. Go now, unless you have something else to tell me. I’m more than capable of taking care of my brother. This is not the first time this has happened.” Henrison says.

Currently, it is late, and you most likely missed time with Mercedes learning keys.

>Going to Mercedes Room

“What should I do if I encounter him in this state, alone or otherwise?” you ask.

“Let him sleep if you can’t carry him somewhere safe, he’ll recover in about eight hours,” Henrison says.

“When we entered the academy, what spell was that?” you ask.

“ ‘Purple Belly Smoke’ it’s an advanced level shadow spell, took me a while to learn,” Henrison says.

“Thank your majesty, I’ll be leaving now. I’m sure my master is worried about my health,” you say.

Henrison nods at your statement and waves you out of his room. Stepping outside of the prince’s room you see another student walking the halls. He is wearing hooded leather armor and combat boots. On his head is a red bandana decorated with a sunset. There are various flasks on his hip filled with various liquids. On his back is a double sided long curved spear. The boy looks at you bringing his finger to his mouth, gesturing you to remain quiet. He puts on his hood and disappears from sight.

Having seen enough disappearing acts for one day you go to Mercedes’s room and knock on the door. There is no answer. You knock again, this time you hear shuffling inside of the room. The door opens quickly revealing Vivi.

“Saul!” Vivi says as she embraces you.

“Are you ok? Did the prince make you do anything bad? Are you sick?” Vivi asks firing questions at you.

“I’m fine, the Prince just needed some help and I was the closest servant nearby,” you say.

“I’m so glad you are ok, Saul,” Vivi says with her face still pressed against your chest.

Mercedes walks up from behind

“Do you have his scent now Vivi?” Mercedes asks.

“My what,” you ask back.

“Vivi was upset that she was unable to locate Roland earlier, as well as being unable to track down your location when we went back to the Prince’s room. So she asked me to teach her the intermediate of the [Enhanced Scent of Smell] (77). ” Mercedes says.

“Oh…sorry about skipping out on your lesson again,” you say.

“I’m sure whatever the Prince had you do was far more exciting than being here and learning magic," Mercedes says sarcastically.

"Vivi told me that she was going to let the future self-key fade away. Two days from now it should, I am curious how the PolyInk Key will interact with the future self-key, along with the enhanced smelling. I've only used PolyInk maybe twice, and never of someone who has keys on them. I don’t think there will be any side-effects,” Mercedes says.

"Where did Caren go?" you ask.

"She left a while ago, I taught her how to make things more durable. We'll see her tomorrow before we go to town," Mercedes says.

Apologize for missing the lesson, and ask when she’s available for another.

“Have you decided to join a club yet?” you ask Mercedes.

“No, I haven’t. I was thinking of joining the knitting club, but I don’t know the first thing when it comes to knitting. Also, I’m going have lots of work as a TA in the future with Mrs. Alabaster, working with her is part of the reason why I am here now,” Mercedes says.

“When will you have another lesson on keys?” you ask.

“Sunday I’ll have a short lesson. Be sure not to miss it this time,” Mercedes says yawning.

“Let’s go to our room Saul, I wanted to talk to you about something. Mercedes wants to go to sleep, Vivi says.

“Goodnight you two,” Mercedes says.

“Goodnight Mercedes,” you and Vivi say.

Leaving Mercedes’s room the two of you retire back to your own quarters. Vivi feeds Sally the bird some food before sitting on her bed.

“For tomorrow Saul, I want us to stab something together even if it’s just a small rat. I know stabbing isn’t something that Sally would want to do, but it’s something I’d like to do together. Also is there anything you’d like to personally do tomorrow? It is your day off after all,” Vivi says.

“I’m sure we will have time. So tell me what you did today Saul before I go to sleep.” Vivi says.

You sit down alongside Vivi and recount your day during magical studies, and what you did with the occult club. You show Vivi the 'create light' spell. Skipping over your tale about Roland not wanting to worry her over the encounter with a strange glowing man. You tell her about some of the rumors that you have been hearing about in the academy along with the student wearing armor before disappearing into thin air. Vivi yawns stretching her body.

“I’m glad that you had a good day today Saul. I’m going to get some rest, I’m excited for tomorrow. You smell good Saul. Goodnight,” Vivi says hugging you.

You return the hug and wish your mistress a good nights rest. You step into your room. The moon is shining brightly from outside your window. Fishing Holes is resting on your bed. It is currently very late at night and you have a long day ahead of you tomorrow.

>Finish Fishing Holes

You walk over to your bed and grab the book that placed you in a strange trance earlier. You lay on your bed and begin to read the final section of the book.

“Fishing Holes and The Sea”

The girl who lives next door doesn’t seem to be singing. Most likely asleep, so you begin to read.

“The ocean is a bountiful place for fish to live, also the most dangerous place for fish to live. Fishing holes in the ocean are both plentiful and scarce. Some fish may only come out when the sea is hard and rough while others may come when the sea is true and calm. In a way, your vessel that rests on the sea can be considered a fishing hole as well. Some fishes may seek protection under a large mast, while others may find comfort near a slow-moving dingy.”

“Fishes found in the sea are more sentient than you find on the land. They come in different shapes and different sizes. Some may appear as a human while others may appear as ferocious monsters. Those are the big catches and taboos in the sea.”

"There is rumored to be a hub port city in the center of the ocean. Pirates, merchants, & adventures gather there before setting sail on their next adventure. There is an academy there for young wayward souls to learn and flourish and how to survive in the sea. For the sea is all they may ever know."

The book continues on with this until you reach a blank page. Unable to break the trance you see writing begin to inscribe on the once blank page. You see your name written in blood red letters.

“Now it is your turn [red] Solomon [/red] to brave the depths, will you come out alive….?”

You walk out of your bed glad that you wore pants to sleep. You walk towards the middle door with a cooling mist coming from underneath.

“Magic is bullshit,” you mutter to yourself as you open the door.

Stepping through the door you feel a cool blast of wind. No longer seeing a white room, you realize that it’s daytime. You see a clear blue sky, and several floating islands in the distance. Observing the area around you see that you are also on a floating island as well. In the middle of your floating island, there is a small pond.

“Squack”.

Turning around you see an obese purple bird with edged claws. In the bird’s hands are a fishing rod and a small box. The bird is wearing a high-crowned, wide-brimmed hat along with several fishing trinkets on its shirt.

“Squack Squack,” the bird says again.

You stare at the bird not sure how to approach your current situation.

*Cough* *Cough*

“Sorry about that, I thought you knew how to speak ‘Blackyu’,” the bird says.

“Now I know magic is bullshit,” you say throwing your arms at the talking bird.

“Welcome newbie to Fishing Holes 101. You might be wondering why you are here.”

You open your mouth to speak, but the obese bird begins to speak again.

“Currently your mind is in the book known as ‘fishing holes’. I’m the author and creator of the book. You can call me FH. I’m what you call ancient magic. Complete my trial and I’ll grant you a gift, fail and the book will go to a different owner,” FH says.

“Before we begin do you have any questions? The first trial is pretty easy, you just have to catch a fish,” FH says.

“What exactly are you? Where am I?” you ask

“I already answered that, but if you are talking about what [i] I [/i] am. Then I’m a Blacksu a humanoid bird normally found in these areas. Though they are normally not as well-rounded as I am,” FH says as he grabs his belly laughing.

“For where you are. I’ll tell you if you passed your first trial. At least you are wearing the proper gear already,” FH says with his clawed hand motioning towards you,” FH says.

Looking at yourself you feel a sudden warmth. You are now wearing proper fishing gear ready to get the job done, and in your hand is a fishing rod. Recalling what Dr. Fredrick told you about how to fish, you cast your line into the small pond. You don’t have to wait long for the fish to bite and reel in your first catch(79). The fish on the end of your hook has a long body with triangular fins and a broadhead. The colors on its body remind you of the clouds in the sky.

“That was faster than most, it seemed you already knew what you were doing. I once had to teach somebody how to fish on the fly,” FH says.

“Well, I had someone teach me how to fish before I received the book…Did the previous owner fail the first test?” you ask.

“The previous owner didn’t even open the book. The owner before that finished all the trials and then sold the book to some traveling merchant,” FH says.

“So that means Dr. Fredrick never read the book,” you mutter to yourself.

“Hold on to that fish as we move on to the next trial, it’s slightly harder,” FH says.

FH makes a fist with his hand and punches the air. The door that looked brand new appears.

“Was that really necessary,” you ask.

“Not really,” FH says.

>[1/2]
>>
Shaking your head you step through the door. Except for this time something is different. In front of you is a large dense forest. Sunlight doesn’t seem to be able to pass through the leaves overhead. The wind is blowing roughly as some of the leaves fall on your feet. Looking downwards you see that your hair is now different, now taking on a much more blonde coloring. Your body also seems to be more athletic and toned. Something that could be outside for long periods of time without feeling tired. You feel stronger.

“What happened to me,” you ask.

Looking to your right you see a bear with a small green hat and tie. You assume its FH.

“The magical door changed your appearance based on those who you interact within the real world. Maybe you have a blonde friend who is really athletic? It allows you to view the world in a different way. Look at me I’m a talking bear with a tie,” FH says.

You shake your head. Apparently, FH has some weird sense of humor.

“For this trial I want you to go into the forest and bring me back a large fish. There is a large lake within the forest, but be careful there are other inhabitants living within,” FH says before throwing a small ball on the ground causing smoke to rise from his position.

*cough* *cough*

FH walks outside of the smoke coughing.

"You were going to tell me where I am!" you say.

“Don’t do that, I’m just going to walk in like a normal bear with a green tie,” FH says as he walks away ignoring you.

Stepping through the dense forest you step over roots uprooted from the tree, over fallen logs, and through some shrubs. You encounter a large black cat-like creature walking through the trees, but you are able to avoid it without showing your presence (96). You make sure to keep track of where you’ve been and to not get lost in the many trees that look the same (96). Moving through a large pile of foliage you hear the sound of water crashing loudly. You don't feel tired as you normally would after moving so much and avoiding potentially dangerous creatures. Soon you come across a large lake with a waterfall crashing in the distance. This is the place that FH described to you earlier.

FH appears in front of startling you causing you to stumble.

“Wow kid, you managed to avoid basically everything in that forest. Most people get caught by some wild animal or monster and cry screaming,” FH says.

“So you were going to tell me about where exactly I am?” you ask.

“Oh yes. You are currently in a different plane of existence, a world separate from your own. I’ll tell you more if you complete everything else. The last one is the most difficult. For this trial use the fish that you caught in the previous trial and use it as bait (or mooch) to capture an even larger fish. You’ll need it for the last one,” FH says.

>107 (Un-Nat Crit!)

Reaching into one of your pockets you grab the small fish that you caught from the first trial securing it to the hook. Following the weird talking bear’s directions, you cast your line into the lake. For some reason even though this is your third time fishing, it feels natural to you. Standing near water with the sounds that you can hear are the small wildlife and the ripples in the water. It’s calming…till your rod almost breaks from bending forward.

Using your newfound strength you begin pulling at the rod. Pulling left when the fish swims to the right, giving the rod slack when the fish tries to pull away from you. Eventually, you pull the large fish out of the water and on to the shore. The fish measure about 34 inches long weighing 50lbs. The fish appeared brown when it came out of the water, but at a closer glance, the fish is of a rainbow coloring (107).

“Holy Mackeral! That’s a fine fish you caught there son. You’re a natural at this.” FH says patting your back.

“Well, I was taught by a professional,” you say.

“A professional that should have read the book... I would have you try to carry the fish back to the beginning, but the fish you caught is much too large for that (107).” FH says.

“The final trial will have you out at sea, your goal is to make it to a major port city in the center of the ocean. Before arriving you have to catch a fish larger or equal to the size of fish you are carrying right now. I won’t be with you this time, you have to navigate the ship by yourself, catch the fish, and locate the port city on your own. That being said what type of vessel do you want to take?”

“The Dinghy with a mast is enough for one person to sit on and manage by themselves, its size is small though and more susceptible to damages.”

“The Cutter is a larger version of the Dinghy allowing faster movement for one person but is often found more difficult to steer with only 1 crew member. It can handle rougher waves than the dinghy, but fish often steer clear of this ship as it is commonly seen.”

“The Galleon is a massive ship is impossible for one person to steer by themselves, but is very sturdy and can take on massive waves and some damage to its sides.”

>I want the Cutter

“I’ll take the cutter. I don’t want to lug whatever catch I get in a small Dinghy,” you say.

“A fine choice most experienced fishermen use the cutter for both its average speed and decent size,” FH says.

FH waves his bear-like hands wildly in the air summoning the door that looks like it’s about to break. You shake your head at his weird movements, magic…

Entering through the door the first thing you notice that something is majorly off. You are lying on the deck of the cutter, you can hear the sounds of the water splashing against your ship. There is a large weight on top of your body. Opening your eyes you see the fish that you caught from the previous trial, it appears much larger than it had before. Rolling on to your side and standing up you notice that your field of view is much shorter than before. Looking downwards you notice that your arms and legs are not as strong or long as they were in the previous trial. Walking towards the water to look at your reflection you are greeted with both a familiar and unfamiliar sight. Your body is much shorter, stocky, somewhat childlike and slightly cute. Your normal human ears are longer and pointer than before. Your height measures a little over 3 feet. The blonde hair that you had previously is now replaced with short straight black hair. Your current appearance reminds you of your friend Marcie, a Rara.

FH told you that, “The magical door changes your appearance based on those who you interact within the real world”, apparently the magical door decided to change your race as well.

Looking down at the fish you caught from the previous trial it is much too large now for you to secure on a fishing rod and catch an equal to bigger size catch. You hear a voice call out to you.

“Well this is troublesome I didn’t expect this to happen. I’ll shrink the fish’s size to fit your current appearance, the doors have a mind of their own,” the voice of FH says sighing.

You watch the large fish in front of you shrink down to a much more manageable size.

“A word of advice, while your current appearance lack strength they have faster reflexes. Use that to your advantage little one,” FH says referencing your short stature.

“Use the pillar of light to help guide you to the port city,” FH says.

Looking to your front you see a faint green pillar of light in the distance. Your goals are to catch a fish of equal or larger to the one that you are holding and make it to the port city in one piece. You hear a rumbling of dark clouds nearing the straight pathway to the green pillar, you can try to go through it or steer around the dark clouds, but might lose track of the faint pillar of light.

It is currently daytime.

>Try to steer clear from the dark clouds

You decide to steer clear from the dark clouds. Getting caught in the storm doesn’t seem to be the best idea considering that you need to be stronger to both navigate and steer the ship correctly. Not knowing how to correctly steer the ship you pull on some of the looser stringers close to the mast of which you are able to reach. When you pull on the looser strings to the right, the sail turns left and vice-versa.

Using this knowledge you steer the boat to the right to avoid the oncoming storm. While floating away from the storm you see some outlying islands in the distance. Nearing one of them you see a tall busty adult woman, her clothes don’t look like they are suited for being outside nor for fishing. She is calling out to you waving her hands in the air.

“Can you help me pipsqueak?! My ship crashed and I can’t get off the island now!” you hear the woman yell out.

You frown upon being called a pipsqueak, Marcie probably has heard worse…Observing the island near the woman you see no signs of ship wreckage. There is only the sandy beach that the woman is on and a few palm trees on the island.

“I’ll reward you if you help me,” you hear the woman call out once more.

>Ignore the woman, move on and find a fish to catch.

>Have her swim to our boat; having another hand on deck could be useful.

Even though the woman seems very suspicious based on the surroundings, what kind of man would you be if you left her stranded. You steer your ship towards the woman but stop short enough for her to be able to swim on board. Docking your ship, then having to push it back into the water doesn’t seem to be the smartest of ideas.

“Come in the-” you stop short noticing your voice sounds younger and higher pitched.

“Swim into the water, and climb on board. I can’t dock the boat,” you say trying to get used to your different voice.

“But I’ll get wet!” the woman complains.

“I’ll just leave then,” you say with your arms crossed.

“No, wait! I’ll come!” the woman says as she runs into the water.

The woman walks into the water and starts swimming her way on to your boat. The way that she swims seems very unnatural as she never stretches her arm out. She reaches your cutter quickly and climbs on board her clothes are dripping wet. Looking at her up close, you can see that she is wearing much skimpier clothing and wonder how she got on the island in the first place. You shake your head and start turning the cutter in the direction of the green light making sure to stay away from the dark clouds as much as possible.

“So about that reward?” you ask.

“Reward? You expect me to reward you after getting my clothes all wet? Fan me,” the woman says.

“What?” you ask.

“I said fan me. My clothes are wet and want them dry,” the woman says.
.
“I don’t have anything to fan you with ma’am,” maybe when we arrive at my destination you can dry yourself off. For now, can you make sure we are steering in the correct direction? I need to catch a fish before we arrive,” you ask.

“Fine, but after we get to where ever you need to go, you are drying me off shrimp,” the woman says.

You shake your head at the woman’s insult.

“We are going towards the faint green light in the distance. Avoid the black clouds,” you tell her.

The woman nods at your directions. You watch her as she reaches for the ropes near the mast and starts pulling on them. She knows how her way around a ship properly.

You walk towards a box on your ship containing the fish from the previous trial. Its size and weight are much smaller than it was previously. You still have to grapple the fish in your arms to secure it tightly on the lure, if it was the previous weight you would be lying on the floor again. Securing the fish to the lure you cast your line. Glancing over you can see the woman waving her clothes in the air trying to dry off.

“So who the heck are you anyway?” you ask.

“Asking a woman her name without introducing yourself. Weren’t you ever taught proper manners?” the woman says.

“Solomon is my name. Just Solomon” you say.

“So-lo-mo-n what a curious name. If you must know who I am, my name is Griselda,” the woman says.

“Nice to meet your acquaintance Griselda. For a woman who knows her way around a boat you sure don’t swim like one,” you say.

“I was taught a thing or two when I was younger...my swimming is perfectly fine. How do you swim with those short arms and legs?” Griselda says.

The next couple of minutes the two of you are sitting in silence. You reel your fish back in, but there hasn’t been a bite yet (25). You glance over at Griselda she seems to be biting her long nails and looking around the ocean. She takes a glance at you before looking away. You cast your line back into the water in hopes that a fish will bite soon.

“Hey Shrimp,” Griselda says.

“Please don’t call me shrimp,” you say trying to focus on any fish that might jump out of the water.

“Take a break from fishing and come fan me,” Griselda says.

“As I said before Ma’am I don’t have anything onboard that I can fan you with. When we arrive at my destination I can do so,” you say.

“Hey Shrimp, feed me some mochi.”
“Hey Shrimp, massage my back.”
“Hey Shrimp, draw me 20 pages of cute dresses that you think I would love.”

“Hey [red] Runt [/red] , are you even listening to me anymore?”

Griselda keeps calling your name asking you to do various tasks for her that are impossible to do at this current time. Your patience as both a fisherman and servant are wearing thin. Reeling in your line once more you are saddened that there have been no bites (25), and also annoyed that you can’t find peace while fishing. Placing the fish back in the box you see the storm clearing up in the distance, creating a direct path towards the brighter glowing pillar of light.

>[1/2 Character restriction]

Close to you are some outlying islands, you can maybe try to trick and leave Griselda on one of the islands. You could also keep putting up with constant and rude requests as you try to make it over to the port city.

The sun is starting to set. You are not sure if time is moving faster here or if you just lost track of time yourself.

Also, you are not sure if there is a time limit.

Once more you walk over to the box containing the fish from the previous trial. Grappling the fish you secure it on to your rod. You cast the fish into the ocean and slowly start reeling it in. Looking at Griselda you see her staring at the sunset, finally shutting up with requests about various tasks.

“Do you often watch the sunset?” you ask.

“…Yes. The sunset is my beginning as well as my end,” Griselda says.

“What?” you ask.

Before you can get an answer you feel a tug on your fishing rod, you have a bite (70). While you lack in the department of strength, you have heightened reflexes due to your increased level of hearing and a smaller body. The best way to go about catching the fish is to try and tire it out. In the corner of your eye, you see Griselda get up and walk over next to you.

Once more you use the teaching from Dr. Fredrick and as well your experience from the previous trials to help aid you in catching the fish effectively. Fishing feels natural. You fight against the fish for about 5 minutes. With every twist and turn the large fish does you make sure to move swiftly in the opposite direction as you try to reel it in (70 + Rara?).

The fish catches you by surprise as it suddenly lunges out of the water away from the boat. This sudden motion causes you to be lifted into the air nearly falling into the water, but you are caught by Griselda.

“Shrimp, don’t go overboard, I still need you to fan me,” Griselda says.

“I said…Don’t call me SHRIMP!” you say as you pull hard on your rod. Using your remaining strength while Griselda holds you back the fish flies in the air landing on your cutter.

>[1/2]
>>
The fish is flopping around wildly as it is gasping for breath. Unlike the other fishes, you’ve caught in the previous trials. The fish’s bill comes out long, and with a sharp pointed end, it resembles a sword. Its body is in an oval shape and looks like it weighs just as much as you. Griselda sets you back on the deck of your cutter.

“Thanks for the help Griselda,” you say as you regain your bearings.

“As I said, I still need you to fan me, even though you probably won’t get the chance…” Griselda says.

Placing your newly acquired fish in the box, you sit back and relax on your boat and watch as the sun dips into the endless ocean. It’ll be night time soon, but you should arrive in the port city before it gets too dark. Griselda easily lifts you in the air and places you on her lap holding you tightly, the back of your head is pressed against her mountainous buxom.

"Your different, you were able to resist my womanly charm, and requests," Griselda says.

Griselda stops speaking for a moment gazing at the setting sun.

"There is no moon tonight. I change into a monster and prey on fishermen and pirates when there isn't a closeby light source. It's a curse... I rather not eat you, so give me your fish. I like you so I'll give you a cha-chance," Griselda says

Griselda is holding you tightly, but her voice is wavering. She seems unsure about her current actions.

It’s better to reason with the woman and not get eaten. You struggle in Griselda’s arms turning yourself around so that you can face her, directly. Using your cuter appearance, you clasp your hands together and stare at Griselda deeply.

“If you help me push the boat, we can probably make it to port and its lights before sunset. I promise to dry you and depending on how things work out, I might be able to give you the fish, too,” you say as your eyes begin to sparkle brightly.

Griselda doesn’t speak for a moment before grabbing your head and enveloping you completely in her large buxom. You can see why Charles enjoys Vivi’s embracement, even though your body is smaller than his, you assume the feeling is mutual (93).

“Oooh, I can’t possibly bring myself to eat such a cute little shrimp such as yourself. I’ll help you with the sails! I know that we can go faster than this,” Griselda says (93).

Being released from Griselda you see that some scales have started to appear on her face and arms. Griselda walks over to the sail and starts to adjust various string including the ones too high for you to reach. The ship begins to pick up speed toward the pillar of green light. Looking over to the sun you see the lights begin to disappear. Griselda is on her knees as she watches the last traces of sunlight leave, the sky grows dark.

Not wanting to let Griselda down, or get eaten. You begin to cast ‘create light. Mirroring your hands a few inches from each other you focus on creating a large ball of light. Enough to not just illuminate your own ship but some of the water near you as well (93). Griselda watches as you create the magical glowing light from your hands. While her scales don’t recede, you don’t see any more growing on her body.

>[1/3]
>>
“What is this shrimp?” Griselda asks as she stares at the large ball of light in your hand.

“Magic…It’s bullshit I know, but I love it” you say.

“It’s amazing!” Griselda says opening her mouth revealing sharp shark-like teeth.

Soon the two of you reach the dock of the port city. You slow down near a dock where FH was standing, he looks like the obese bird from the first trial.

“Nice to see that you are in one piece. I trust that you brought back a larger fish,” FH asks.

“Yes, I sure did,” you say.

You walk over to the box containing the fish. You grapple the fish tightly, but nearly fall over due to it weighing more than you. You present the fish to FH.

“That be a mighty fine swordfish you have there, much larger than the one you caught in the previous trial,” FH says.

“Well I wouldn’t have caught it if it wasn’t for my fellow crewmember’s help with steering the ship,” you say trying to gesture to Griselda behind you.

“Let’s consider the siren as a bonus objective for you, since you were able to not only survive her charm but also her bite,” FH says.

“Siren?” you ask.

“A siren is someone who becomes a humanoid fish-like creature during the night that preys on fisherman and pirates. Congratulations Solomon you’ve passed all my tests. After you finish fanning the siren, I’ll bestow you your power. I was watching you the whole time” FH says winking at you. He motions the two of you to follow him.

>[2/3]
>>
Walking around the port city you see many different people passing by of all shapes and sizes. Many of the buildings and walls within the city seem to be clean and well kept. There are several waterways that allow ships to pass through within the city. FH walks you into a small two-story building. The first floor has several couches, as well as a kitchen. The second floor contains an average sized room with a bed and nightstand. Griselda collapses on the coach clearly tired from the long strenuous trip.

"I'll be back with this," FH says.

FH takes your fish from the box and disappears into the kitchen.

“Shrimp, come massage my back and fan me,” Griselda complains.

> “Would you really have eaten me? What did you mean by “I’m different?”

> Where’s my reward you promised?

>“Would you really have eaten me? What did you mean by “I’m different?”
>Hey, FH, if I reread the book, would I be able to visit you guys again?"
> "Could she come with me outside the book?"

Walking over to Griselda, you begin to massage her back. You start at the base of her neck and start moving downwards. While her requests on the ship were an annoyance, she upheld her end of the bargain and was able to get you to your destination.

“Would you have really e-eaten me?” you ask.

“If you didn’t show me that cute face of yours, I would have gobbled you up for sure. If anything, I would have kept your cute ears as a souvenir,” Griselda says.

You move your hands to her upper back, making sure to dig into her shoulder blades.

“What did you mean by that I was different?” you ask.

“You didn’t fall for my womanly charm or my many requests. Normally when I ask men to do things for me, they fall into a trance, allowing me to drag them below the water. No matter how many requests I asked, you didn’t even flinch,” Griselda says.

FH walks into the room carrying a steamed swordfish, and a small box (Slightly larger than a takeout tray).

“He was resistant to your charm because his race is called a Rara. Known for their quick reflexes, heightened hearing, and one of the first races to ever use magic. I’ve lived for a very long time,” FH says.

FH sets the steamed fish on the table and serves everybody pieces of the fish to eat. The three of you eat the fish that you caught, FH tells tales of his adventures while out on the sea. They are very interesting and engaging as he makes sure to weave every little detail.

“Hey, FH, if I reread the book, would I be able to visit you guys again?” you ask.

“That’s the ancient magic, I’m going to bestow upon you,” FH says.

“As I said before this world is on a different plane of existence from your own. Others who have the book in the past visit this world as well. As you will be able to as well. Allow me to explain.”

>[1/2]
>>
“The book you read [Fishing Holes] allows you to visit the 3 different locations you did during your trials (Land(2), Sky(1), and Sea(3)).” When you think about the magic, your body in the other world will fall unconscious and you will wake up here. If someone is trying to wake you up, you will fade away here and wake back up in your original world.”

“Time goes by just as fast as it does in your world, our day/night cycle is just faster. You will be able to take things from here, to your world with this box (Vice-Versa).”

FH hands you a medium sized box (about the size of a microwave).

[bold] "The ancient magic [Fishing Holes] is all about being able to find locations for someone to fish at wherever and whenever they want to without ever leaving their home. [/bold] It’s very useful to those who want to go somewhere far away, but can’t do to restrictions in their lives," FH says.

“Can I go with him?” Griselda asks.

“No, you are a resident here. I’m not trying to get in trouble with other people…You can come back here as any versions of yourself that the door chose for you (Normal Saul, Muscly Saul, Rara Saul). As a bonus for ‘catching’ a siren, I’ll give you the ability to summon your cutter as well. Every ship needs a name though.” FH says.

“What will you name your ship?” FH asks.

Here’s another question, would we be able to come back to learn more magic by doing more challenges, and would doing those challenges allow us to summon different types of boats and ships, among other things?
>>
>>3360278
I don't know what would be the purpose of that since we can't really use them on the "real" world, but it sounds comfy af.
>>
>>3360324
I assumed that since we could take stuff from this reality back to our reality we’d be able to summon boats and ships from there to our world. OP didn’t go into the specifics, though...

>~The Siren~

“I’ll name the ship after Griselda, ‘~The Siren~’ Even though I dislike being called shrimp she was a great help in getting me here quicker. Even though she wanted to eat me…” you say.

Griselda gets up quickly from the coach, coddling you in her buxom once more. You can’t break free from her strong grasp.

“Ohhh! Shrimp, you would really name your ship after me? I’ll stop calling you a shrimp, I’ll call you a runt instead,” Griselda says happily.

“That’s worse, shrimp is fine,” you mutter.

“It’s nearly time for you to awaken Solomon,” FH says.

FH gives you a large hug, pressing you into his feathery stomach. You can hear him say a chant, as you feel knowledge crash into your skull, before settling in.

>[Fishing Holes Learned]: The ability to pass into a different plane of existence created by J̷̧͖̮̜̈̈́͐͋a̶͍̻̹̹͊̔͂̈́m̸̊̐̊͗́͜ë̶̹̘̣́̐̍̈́͝s̷̝͊͘ ̴̨̭͍̜̫̌͝À̶̜̙̈́͠l̵̥̣͍̻͂̍̓͜l̸̢͙̖͔͆̓̈́̚ẽ̶̪̘̟͓͆n̸̫̹̻͔̿ . >[Summon Ship: Cutter]: The ability to summon your cutter. (Comes with Fishing Rod & FishBox).

“Was the hug really necessary?” you ask.

“No, but I been wanting to do it for a while now. You may not see me the next time you come, but consider this place your home base.” FH says.

You notice your body becoming transparent, you are waking up.

“Wait let me give you your reward!” Griselda says as she runs up to your fading body giving you a peck on the cheek.

>[1/2]

You wake up in your bed, face first buried into the book [Fishing Holes]. Looking over yourself you see that you are back to being just normal Solomon. You notice that there is a second copy of [Fishing Holes] sitting next to your own, there is a small note on it.

Also yes. You can summon the boat in your own world. Currently, I'm unsure what you would use it for. I'll leave that to creativity with (Write-ins)[I love write-ins].

Any chance of us learning how to summon Griselda out of the book eventually?

Does learning magic from one tome prevent us from learning from any others?

Can we learn how to summon other ships and boats eventually?

Any chances of pirates while rereading Fishing Holes?

>Dress like a servant

You decide to dress like a servant for the time being. You’ll have to change clothes later, for your day out with Vivi. Opening the wardrobe reveals your familiar clothing. Getting dressed quickly you walk into Vivi’s room. To your surprise, Vivi is already awake, dressed and ready to go.

“This is new…You're up early…why?” you ask.

“Because I’m super excited for my day with Sally! I stayed up last night to plan my whole day with Sally,” Vivi says happily while spinning in place.

“Oh yeah…Sally. I had a long night,” you say.

“Are you sure? I peeked in your room last night, you were sound asleep,” Vivi says.

“I had a nice dream. Speaking of Sally let me feed the little bird its morning breakfast,” you say as you feed the Sally the bird some food.

Turning around you see Vivi with her wrists tied behind her back, she seems tentative to ask you something.

“I know it’s your day off, but can you catch something to stab for later today?” I don’t think we’ll have time after my academic classes, I can walk to the dining hall myself.” Vivi says.

>“It’s my day off no can do. I’ll join you for breakfast though. Maybe later?”.

“I’ll go catch you something and bring it back for later…Mistress, would you be interested in stabbing a fish today?” you ask.

“A fish? Why a fish Saul? Wait…Are you interested in stabbing a Murtlap?” Vivi asks excitedly.

“Something like that, or just a big fish,” you say.

“Catch whatever you want Saul, it’s your day off after all. I’m glad that you want to stab something!” Vivi says patting your back.

From outside you hear two girls speaking loudly in the hallway.

“Bellabona’s new book arrives today at the library, during academics.”

“There’s only going to be one copy I hear. I’m running straight there after class!”

---

“Do you know anything of a person named ‘Helena Bellabona’,” you ask Vivi.

“Caren was telling me about how she was going to meet with us later after academics, something about rushing to the library and getting a book by that author. She changed the topic quickly afterward her face was rather flushed,” Vivi says.

“Oh, I was just curious. You should be heading to breakfast. I’m sure that Master Charles will be there and will be delighted to see you,” you say.

“I almost forgot! Charles said that he would be better in the morning.” Vivi opens the door but turns back waving you a quick goodbye before leaving.

“I’ll see you after class Saul. I promise to be on my best behavior during breakfast,” Vivi says.

“You better be,” you respond back.

What should you do for catching the fish? If you catch it fast enough you might be able to go to the library as well.

>Go to the Garden Lake & try to catch a fish?

You decide to go to the garden, to try and catch a fish for your ‘special’ activity with Vivi later. Walking down the hall you see Rena & Charles.

“Hello Master Charles, I’m glad to see you are on your feet. Greetings Rena,” you say.

“Hello, Saul. Will you be joining us for breakfast?” Charles asks.

“No. Not today, I have to run some errands for my mistress,” you say.

“That’s a shame, well I should be going now,” Charles says quickly leaving.

Charles and Rena start to walk towards the dining hall. Rena is staring at you, before turning her head away. She doesn’t seem to happy. You walk outside of the academy and head towards the entrance of the garden. There is a sign that states:

>[Night Show Tomorrow]
>8:00PM->10PM
>Come See the Garden
>Decorated With Lights

Entering the garden you make your way towards where you first saw the Murtlaps. Looking over the lake you see several of the murtlaps splashing in the water, some are laying down on rocks. You can also see ripples in the water. You stretch your hand out towards the water and try to summon your ship.

“Summon Boat…”
“Summon Siren…”
“Summon Griselda…”

“How do I summon the boat,” you ask yourself.

You stretch out your hand and try to think about the ship that you navigated with Griselda.

“Summon Ship: The Siren”

Your hand glows as you feel a force push you back. A large green portal opens near the beach of the lake. Your cutter appears from the portal moving slowly into the water, the sudden presence of a large object scare some of the Murtlaps that were lying nearby. Just as quickly as your ship entered, the portal closes. You’ve summoned ~The Siren~.

Stepping on board the cutter, it feels smaller than you recognize it. Maybe you got used to seeing the world from a shorter point of view during the time with Griselda & FH. On the boat, there is a fishing rod, and place to store any of the fish you catch (Not, the "FH Itembox", Just a box to place fish inside of). Using the sails you navigate your ship to the middle of the lake, there isn't much wind blowing. You can see some ripples in the water.

Currently, you don’t have any bait that you can use in catching the Murtlap, you’ll have to get some later in the future. You grab the fishing rod and cast your line into the water. Many of the murtlaps curiously approach your boat as it floats on the surface of the water, but they don’t come close to your line (66).

You reel back in your line and cast it once more near the Murtlaps. Some swim away from the hooked line, while others are swimming around it. Soon you see your rod bend slightly feeling a small tug (66).

Reeling in your line you feel that something is attached, but it’s not fighting back. Quickly coming out of the water with no resistance is a murtlap. It’s lower lip is attached to your hook as it hangs in the air, it seems to be either dead or sleeping. You place the Murtlap onto the deck of your ship, remembering Dr. Fredrick’s words on Murtlaps you make sure to strike the aquatic animal, in case it might wake up.
Looking over the water you hear a group of girls watching you from across the lake, they seem to be pointing at your ship.

>“How did that ship get there?”
>“Is that a servant? He looks rather young.

There is a younger girl among the group, but she doesn’t seem to be paying attention to you and trying to eat her banana. The girl is a beast skin with large bull-like horns. Turning away from the girls you place the Murtlap in the box near the boat.

Looking at your pocket watch, the current time is 7:45 AM.

You turn your ship around towards the shore, beaching it on the land. Holding the box containing the murtlap you step off your ship.

“De-Summon Ship: ~The Siren~”, you say.

The front of The Siren begins to move by itself, forward into the large green portal disappearing on the other side. The box is still in your hands. While the ship disappears from view, you can see the girls jumping up and down excitedly staring at the ship. The beast skin doesn’t seem to care.

As you walk slightly past the girls you greet them.

“Hello Ladies…” you stop and turn your body facing the girl who is more focused on her food.

The girl is wearing the Uramel Academy Uniform, a long red skirt, and matching red shoes.

“Sorry to bother you, Miss, but are you in the Blacksmithing Club?" you ask the girl who still seems to be focused on her food.

You raise your voice a little higher, “Excuse me, mistress are you part of the Blacksmithing club?” you ask again.

She doesn’t speak until she finishes eating her banana. Her accent is similar to the way that Vivi was speaking to you in the hallway after Nobility Etiquette.

“Aye. A'm. Wha is asking?” the girl speaks with a strange accent.

“My name is Solomon, my mistress saw you in the blacksmithing club. She told me that she had a large interest in the subject of blacksmithing,” you say trying to skip around words such as knife, and weapons. You don’t want poor gossip following your mistress.

“Oh. Dae ye mean D'roix? Samuel tellt me aboot her yesterday. She likes weapons aye? She tellt Samuel she wanted tae mak' a claymore,” the girl says clearly speaking her mind without a thought of her surroundings.

“A what?” you ask.

“A knife,” she says.

You look to the girls near her, they look visibly shaken at your conversation.

>"Knife?"
>"Weapons?"
>"BlackSmithing?"

“Dae nae worry. They're nae real,” The girls says as she waves her hands at the girls.

The girls in front of you disappear into blue smoke, fading into the air.

“My name is Hilda. Nice tae mak yer acquaintance Solomon”, Hilda says stretching out her hand.

>"Magical companions, I presume?
>"Forgive my ignorance, but might I ask where you're from?"

You shake Hilda’s firm bone-crushing handshake.

“Magical companions, I presume?” you ask.

“Aye, I don’t hae any friends. Sae ah made some. Ancient Magic [DoppleGanger]” Hilda says.

A girl with many trinkets on her body next to her.

“Forgive my ignorance, but might I ask where you’re from?” you ask.

The magically made girl next to Hilda speaks for her.

“Hilda here is from a giant country to the far south, she’s an exchange student,” the magical girl says.

“Thare is nuthin tae be ashamed o'. Dae ye lik' mah accent?” Hilda asks.

“I think your accent is fine. If you want to be friends with someone I may I suggest my mistress, you seem to share similar interests,” you say.

**Ding Dong** **Dong Ding**

Before Hilda can respond you hear the bell for class ringing. The time is 8:00 AM.

“It was a pleasure to meet you, Solomon,” Hilda says before bending down on a knee and placing her hands on the ground.

Before you can blink you hear the air crack, Hilda is sprinting back towards the academy. She is much more athletic than she appears to be. The magical girl waves you goodbye before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.

Ah, what the heck.
>>
Some one wanted a summary.
We're Solomon or Saul for short. We were kidnapped by Vivi as child and have been serving her ever. The kidnappning was a blessing to us as life in the city slum is short. We have come to love and in tern be loved by the D'roix. We did everything for Vivi, from dressing her to cleaning up after the messes she made in the basement after torturing and beyond animals and the such.
We have become dependent of each other Vivi for emotional support and yet still some tasks, she just recently learned how to dress herself, and we for purpose and to some degree emotional support as well, family, acceptance and such.

Recently we've moved to live in the university we're Vivi is to learn, here we've met Caren, Charles, Mercedes and manny more, surely to be written in the char-sheet(seecret between you and me: I've not looked at it).

We have so far learned fishing with the field-studies proff, gotten access to some lessons by the headmaster, learned about keys with Mercedes, inscribed a hearing key on ourselves and joined the occult-club.
Vivi has joined the blacksmith-club, inscribed a future self key on her self, turning her in too a most attractive woman, and recently decided to let the key fade. I've skipped some, someone else will have to fill in.
None of this is archived aight, nekomancer?
But do you have the raws neko? It'd be a shame if all was lost to time.

Watching Hilda sprint towards the academy makes you want to chase after her. Placing the box containing the Murtlap in your arms you begin to sprint towards the academy as well. You try to catch up to Hilda, but soon realize that the girl is an absolute monster when it comes running. The space between you only gets wider as you can taste some of the dirt that she leaves behind (20). It is also harder to run in your servant uniform while carrying a box containing a murtlap. You can see Hilda run inside of the academy.

Feeling tired from your recent exercise you slowly walk back into the academy. Some of the other servants are looking at your slower movements. You can hear them gossiping about you, but you pay them no heed. You slowly walk back into Vivi’s room, securely placing the box containing the Murtlap under her bed.

You sit on Vivi’s bed taking a moment to catch your breath. During academics(right now), Helena Bellabona’s new book is supposed to have arrived in the library. Marcie’s was reading one of her books in the magical studies room, her face turned red. Vivi also mentioned that Caren and several other girls were going to rush to the library after class to retrieve the book. Your stomach rumbles, you haven’t eaten anything either. Maybe getting something from the dining hall would be a better idea.

>Go to the library.

You decide to go to the library, maybe you can check out the new Bellabona book people have been gossiping about. Leaving the room, you begin to make your way towards the location of the library. You passed it several times during your nightly excursions in the past, but it was closed due to renovations. Near the entrance of the library, there is a colorful poster.

[Come Visit the Knitting Club Big Reveal]
Special Event Time: 8:00->10PM Saturday.

Entering the library the first thing you notice is how bright & shiny the flooring/walls are. Just like the magical studies classroom the desks are made out of reddish-brown maple wood, there are four seats at every table. There are many rows of bookshelves within the library. The roof of the library is decorated with a painting of a beastskin and human handing off a book to each other. There is also a staircase leading to the second floor of the library aswell.

Currently, the library is rather empty due to most students attending their academic classes. A large beardly man holding a clipboard approaches you. He has a name tag on his shirt that states: “My Name is Sal the Substitute Librarian”.

“Excuse me, sir, how may I help you…your rather young to be a servant aren’t you?” Sal says looking at your current attire.

“I’m more than capable of serving my mistress as I have for as long as I could remember, but yes I am young,” you say.

“If there is something specific that you are looking for? I don’t know much about the library, today is my first day since the normal librarian took the day off. My mother the real librarian was complaining that the headmaster wasn't giving her any days off, so I'm filling in for her. She wanted this day off specifically for some reason..." Sal says.

>“May I see the new book? I’m interested in checking it out.”

>“Can you give me a tour of the library if you have some time?”

>“May I see the new book? I’m interested in checking it out”

“May I see the new book? I’m interested in checking out,” you say.
Sal shrugs his shoulders, “Come with me, I need you to fill out some papers before you can take it with you,” Sal says.

Walking with Sal the substitute library you are led behind his desk into a small breakroom.

“There is no one else here right now, and I desperately need coffee. Would you like some as well?” Sal asks.

“Yes please,” you respond back feeling a little thirsty and tired after your morning run.

After a few minutes, the two of you are sitting across from each other sipping on caramel coffee. There are several papers on the desk.

“I’m going to need your name, your occupation, your room number, and any additional information that you think would be required,” Sal says handing you the papers.

“Solomon, Servant, Room #412B, often seen serving my mistress, Occult Club Member,” you say while writing down on the paper.

“Alright, lastly I need you to place your hand on the book. Repeat after me,” Saul says.

The book has a picture of a black rose embedded into the cover, the title across the top says [The Boy and the Princess]. You place your hand on the cover of the book. The book feels like hard leather to a touch.

“I Solomon solemnly swear to return this book in 4-5 business days,” Sal says.

“I Solomon solemnly swear to return this book in 4-5 business days,” you repeat back.

The book glows yellow for a moment before fading away.

“Secret librarian chant so we know if you keep the book for longer than a few days, or it gets destroyed…well not secret since I have to do it with everyone who wants to check out a book. We are closed on Sundays...If there is something else you need let me know. I’ll be here all day.” Sal says.

>Ask for a tour around the library

“Can you show me around the library? I’m curious about some of the other sections?” you ask.

“I’ll show you around while I sort these books then,” Sal says while motioning over to a stack of books.

You follow Sal around the library while he sorts several books where they belong. There are several sections on the first floor of the library, notable ones being history, gardening, alchemy, nobility, graphic novels, and cooking. The two of you walk up the long staircase to the second floor.

“What do you do for a living Sal?” you ask.

“I’m the assistant for the teacher who teaches basic combat training. I help students when it comes to fighting hand to hand,” Sal says.

“The second floor is larger than the first floor because it offers more academic related subjects, such as math, languages, science, and magic. Uramel Academy’s magic section is rather large because there are several sections regarding magical tools, uses of magic in the real world, magic used in combat, etc.” Sal says.

“Thank you, Sal you’ve been a great help, I’m particularly curious about the magic section,” you say.

“Your welcome. I’m not knowledgeable on any of the specific books, but I’m glad I could hel-” Saul pauses and looks over to at the corner of the library.

Sal's face goes from relaxed to serious and stern very quickly.

Your friend Marcie is sleeping on a chair with her head rested on a table turned to the side. There are several books near her slightly blocking her from view.

“Goddammit. It was supposed to be an easy day today,” Sal says as he walks over to the sleeping girl.

Sal bangs on the table where she is resting.

“Wake up!” Sal yells.

Marcie jumps from her rested position, she seems disoriented as she tries to grasp the situation in front of her still trying to wake up.

“You should be in class, miss. Even though I’m a substitute I still have the power to give you detention for skipping in the library,” Sal says.

“I uh…” Marcie is struggling to come up with an excuse. She hasn’t noticed you yet.

Would we really cover for Marchie? Considering it puts Vivis name in question for no real results. And while we might want to help Marchie it won't necessarily work, not worth it I conclude.
Now some thing that might work is to over reakt and fake irritation as to appeal to Sal, convince him that you will take Marchie to the headmaster/appropriate staff, leave and make it up to Marchie later somehow, maybe promise to bring her cake or boze.

>“You have the wrong idea, Sal. My mistress came in with me when we entered the library. She wasn’t feeling well today.” (Cover for her)

You come up from behind Sal and walk next to Marcie.

“You have the wrong idea, Sal. My mistress came in with me when we entered the library. She wasn’t feeling well today, isn’t that correct my mistress,” you say grabbing Marcie by the shoulder pulling her slightly closer while tapping her back to signal her to play along.

Marcie looks up at you, before speaking, “Sorry about that Saul…I…was resting my head for just a moment. I’m still feeling under the weather why don’t we return to my room.”

Sal looks at your interactions he doesn’t seem to be buying the act.

“What is your Mistress’s name?” Sal asks.

“Marcie Alabaster” you respond back without missing a beat.

“Ms. Alabaster what was your servant doing here?” Sal asks.

“……. To find me a book to read me to sleep, so that I can get better faster.” Marcie says slowly.

“Let me walk you to your room,” you say quickly trying to recover.

Marcie gets off the chair and bows to Sal.

“Sorry about sir,” Marcie says.

“She does look a little pale, I’ll believe it for now. I’ll update your information, Solomon. I’ll still have to report the event to my mother,” Sal says as he walks away to sort more books.

You turn to Marcie, her hair is flustered and somewhat messy. She seems anxious as she tries to fix her hair with her hands.

“Let’s go to the club room Saul, I don’t want him coming back and asking more questions…,” Marcie says.

You are preparing chamomile tea for yourself and Marcie. She is brushing her hair on the couch, she has a frown on her face.

“Why do you think he was asking us all those questions, Saul?” Marcie asks.

“He told me he was the assistant to the basic combat training professor. He probably was testing if we actually knew each other,” you say handing Marcie a cup of tea.

“Thank you for the tea, I hope nothing comes bad from it, thank you for helping me out. Detention would have ruined my day,” Marcie says.

“Why were you skipping class in the library?” you ask.

“…I was…I wanted a book that came out today. I guess it too late for me to go get it. Why were you in the library Saul?” Marcie asks sheepishly.

“I went to the library to check out a book that I was hearing about, it’s called [The Boy and the Princess],” you say showing her the book.

As soon as you show her the book, she snatches it from your hand. She is staring at the cover, running her finger along the black rose.

[VOTING STILL OPEN]

>Page 10

We hit 300+ replies for this thread. I personally am happy with that. I'll archive thread before I go to sleep at 4 am. Whatever choice is chosen will be the opener for the next thread.

For this thread, I was aiming for some character development with some of the characters as well as setting up future development with others, but it mostly depended on the choices/rolls that were made. Also, I was trying to improve the way I write as well.

Next thread will either be [Friday 12 PM EST]. Or [Sunday Night 9 PM EST]. I have to work on several character sheets and worldbuilding things.

I'd like some feedback if possible, you don't have to answer them all.

>Who is your favorite character?
Mercedes has been done well I feel, Charles is fundamental to Vivis character-devel and has been good so far. Of course Saul is very important, but I feel he is slipping, to me he is just as broken as Vivi they are two halves, even if he is much more functioning than Vivi.
>Who is your least favorite character?
I feel Rena is not coming across as much as she should, some character-devel on Vivi would be nice(more spotlight on Charles is always appreciated).
>Is there a particular part or moment in the thread that you liked?
I'm assuming only this thread is to be evaluated?
In general i like Charles moments, Vivi && Saul moments.
Mercedes arc is also very nice.
>" " disliked?
I don't really appreciate the fishing holes arc, but I'm biased as dislike highfantasy, even accounting for that I think you went too far with the magic.
"Magic is bullshit", ergo have less.
That said it was well written and differentiated from the main arch as it was much more coherent, as in it is one body of plot, were as the rest is very spread out.

>Who is your favorite character?
Previously Mercedes, but leaning towards Marcie a little

>Who is your least favorite character?
Don't have one. Though with this many characters now some of them seem underdeveloped or otherwise not very distinct from one another.

>Is there a particular part or moment in the thread that you liked?
I like it when other characters take initiative, which allows for characterization and their own personality to shine through.

>...disliked?
I feel that not everyone needs to, or would want to be our friend. I feel that the story thus far is too player driven, and it would be nice if it was more event driven, or where choices are not just success vs failures, and more based on preferences and personality, I think the characters would develop more this way.

>Any non-spoilery questions? (Write-in?)
Is this a noble-bright, noble-dark, grim-bright, or grim-dark setting?
>>
>>3371440
Character development is something I'm definitely working on in the future.

For the number of characters, there won't be anyone added to the "main cast".

As for character development, I'll definitely be trying to work towards showing each person their personality.

>I feel that the story thus far is too player driven, and it would be nice if it was more event driven

I really like this. Thank you anon

Personal thoughts, on my end:
Caren: Needs MAJOR work.
Charles: I have an idea, but we'll see.
Rena: Needs more thought.
