You are a battle brother of the Obsidian Smiths. You're chapter disgraced and forced on the run branded as traitors in the eyes of the Inquisition and Imperium at large. During a bloody conflict against the Tyranid hive fleet Naga the Obsidian Smiths found themselves fighting arm in arm with Eldar of the craftworld Iyanden in order to repel the horde. Such actions were seen as heresy of the highest order. To make matters worse, rather than waste time explaining yourselves you and your brothers opted to strike out on your own path. Having already become jaded with the imperium, after centuries of ostracization and mistreatment due to the heavy corruption of your gene seed as well as the mysterious circumstances of your founding. You are not without allies however. Your venerable cousins the Blood Ravens have looked favorably upon your chapter even after it turned it's back on the imperium. In addition to your cousin chapter you've maintained your budding alliance with craftworld Iyanden along with xenos of the Ulimeathic league. Few though their people may be after the devastation wrought by hive fleet Naga the xenos of the Ulumeathic league feel they owe the Smiths a grand debt. Now offering to work for the chapter as auxiliaries on your ship the Dark Forge. Do not forget however that you are ever pursued by the imperium. The Vitrian dragoons, a highly specialized imperial guard regiment known for sporting high powered las rifles, plasma guns and strange armor with built in cloaking technology have been tasked with your chapters annihilation.

>rules will be pretty loose seeing as were still establishing the chapters motivations and what not.

First off sorry for taking so long, ended up going to sleep after posting the OP, anyway let's get on with it.

You are brother Vih' Indesal of the Obsidian Smiths. You are currently aboard the Dark Forge your chapters most illustrious, and only, battle barge. Having recently come from a battle against a minor ork warlord your chapter is now in pursuit of a strange signal heard beyond the fringes of imperial space. Your chapter, and yourself by proxy must choose its next course of action carefully however. Recent communications from your cousins, the Blood Ravens, has revealed that your tireless pursuers the Vitrian dragoons have caught your scent once again. It is time for you to decide your course of action.

Moving through the passageways of the ship you find yourself in the ship's medbay, a number of apothecarys at work alongside serfs and auxila. There's only a handful of wounded from what you can tell. None of your brothers appear to be injured too severely, but considering the fact that your chapters corrupted gene seed has led to the loss of your Su-san membrane any injury will take a good deal more effort to repair than the average space marine. After spotting your squads apothecary Cihuatli you strike up a brief but pleasant conversation discussing again the battle against the orks.

What sort of a role did you play?
>hero of the chapter
You were at the forefront front of the battle driving back the xenos filth with bolter and blade. Gaining much esteem among your chapter but not so much among the populace of the sector.
>savior of the people
You took a strictly defensive role in the battle, defending hab centers and escorting civilians through combat zones. You're battle brothers certainly don't think ill of you for it but you didn't make a name for yourself in the conflict. The civilians you saved however were forever grateful spreading the legend of a heroic space marine throughout the system.
>a quiet but key victory
You garnered no esteem for your actions but dealt the death blow against the enemy nonetheless. Only you and a select few of your battle brothers will be allowed to know this(Cihuatli among them) however as there was more going on behind the scenes of your recent campaign.

>Hero it is
You were at the head of the vanguard. Your chainsword cleft a bloody swathe through the green skins as you crashed through their ranks. Finally coming to the heart of the WAAUGH you fought their warlord in single combat taking his head. After your duel what was left of the ork forces routed and were summarily hunted to the last by your chapter and the local pdf. You catch Cihuatli scoff as you go on about your exploits, laughing lightly he chastises you for letting your exploits go to your head. You find the remark somewhat humbling.
Now is our business in the med bay concluded?

>ask how attampting to purify the gene-seed is going
"Not well" Cihuatli responds to your inquiry with a sigh. Since breaking off from the imperium your chapter no longer receives gene-seed tithes nor recruits from imperial space. This has made attempts at developing a purer gene-seed for future generations of the chapter quite difficult. Worse yet, though your chapter is currently at nominal fighting strength any catastrophe or long drawn out conflict your chapter sees in the future may very well be the last. There is no reason to give up hope however as your chapters mutations are not without their blessings. Your chapters vision, being hypersensitive to light makes you just as adept at fighting in darkness as a normal chapter in the light of day. This comes in handy in the dark of corridors of ships where your chapter is most at home fighting, being experts of ship to ship combat and close quarters boarding actions. Additionally the lack of a Su-san membrane has caused your apothecarys to become incredibly skilled at patching up injured marines in order to make up for your inability to heal grievous injuries on your own.

You take your leave of Cihuatli and the med bay. Making your way through the pipe laden corridors and steam clouded alcoves. You pass a number of servitors serfs and even a few of the xenos of the ulumeathic league. Now acting as auxila aboard the dark forge offering mechanical expertise and engineering advice. Though your tech is quite foreign to them and theirs even more so to you you've come together to find ways to integrate their technology into your own making up for the disrepair in your chapters equipment in some small ways. Eventually you take notice of battle brother Montezuma of squad Revenge. He notices you as well giving a curt nod as you pass by. Montezuma is an honored veteran of the chapter possibly even having been present at it's founding. Montezuma has made it known that he doesn't approve of the presence of the xenos. Like the rest of the chapter he's long abandoned his hatred of all things alien. Even sporting a rune on his helm gifted to him by an eldar who said it would bring him luck. Nonetheless he sees the ulumeathins as parasites and freeloaders living on the Dark Forge while doing little in return. You ponder briefly on your own feelings towards the ulumeathins as well as your eldar allies.
>they owe us a life debt, and their skill at repairing arms and armor has proven invaluable just as well the eldar proved themselves by fighting shoulder to shoulder with us against the Tyranids

Montezuma has the right idea, the ulumeathins are little more than freeloaders. To accept their help is one thing, as swallowing ones pride is a virtue in and of itself. Allowing them aboard our ship however is a gross violation. One that most certainly goes against the will of our emperor. Quelling your anger you finally reach the bridgehead. Close to the observation window you see your chapter master in all his glory. Red and grey armor adorned with the pelts of dangerous predators. His helm topped with feathers from colorful birds of prey. His battlemace at his hip, palm resting on the pommel. You approach and say/ask.

>>inquire about the signal and inform the Chapter Master about Cihuatlis progress.
"Chapter Master I've come to ask if there's any news regarding the signal we intercepted" the chapter master moves from his station behind the helmsman and approaches you. He's an imposing figure. His terminator armor towering over all others present in the bridge. "Ah brother Vih', I was told of your exploits against the orks in our last campaign. Most impressive." His jovial tone and pleasant demeanor a stark contrast to his menacing appearance. "While we are locked on to the signal and closing in on the source we have yet to ordain it's exact location within the sector." He pauses for a brief moment then extrapolates further. We have however determined the nature of the signal, it appears our suspicions were confirmed. The signal's IFF is most certainly imperial in origin, this would be enough to dissuade us from pursuing it further had we not determined it to be a distress signal." You surely understand the feelings of the Chapter Master, while exposing yourselves to imperials is always a risk abandoning citizens of the Emperor in need is not an option. Believing it a good time to change the subject you bring up Cihuatlis progress. The Chapter Master hangs his head. "Most vexing." He replies simply. He thanks you for the update with somber gratitude and politely dismisses you to go about your business.

I agree we should try to ingratiate ourselves with the systems, but we need to remember that recruiting Space Marines, especially with malformed gene-seed is a difficult procedure that takes a massive amount of time. I feel we should focus on expanding our fleet, and acquiring some human auxiliaries.

That s right.

Our fleet is small and i doubt the numbers of our serfs is great.
Maybe they could become our first human auxiliaries ?

You remember that your fleet is currently patrolling in the far reaches of the Ultima Segmentum near the Exodite Worlds. Before the Chapter Master dismisses you you humbly implore him that you be first into the breach during the next conflict. The Chapter Master answers you with a measured pause before answering. "Brother Vih', while I admire your courage I sincerely hope you are seeking to be at the apex of our battle out of duty." He begins to return to the helm before saying "You will be allowed to lead our brothers into the breach, taking into account your valorous actions against the orks. However do not confuse hotheadedness and an overly eager sword arm for zeal and courage." You find yourself humbled for the second time today, though in this instance the words sting and bite at your character rather than simply bruise your ego.
Exiting the command deck you meditate on the words of the Chapter Master, perhaps your actions as of late have been brash.

Mulling over your interactions with Cihuatli and the chapter master you feel as if they misrepresented you in their assumptions. Cihuatli certainly overstepped himself, writing you off as a braggart. You were merely regaling him with the story of your heroics in the last fight, perhaps he was jealous? No, envy is not only unbecoming of the apothecary it's simply not in his nature. Still whether he intended it or not he insulted your character. That, in and of itself is not grating on you so heavily as the words of the chapter master. Clearly he's misinterpreted your valor as a pursuit for glory. You suppose you'll simply have to show him your intentions through action in the next battle. Coming to the armory you approach a marine sporting a number of mechanendrites. You call out to him "Brother Chuan, have you finished with my wargear." Brother Chuan turns to you, his attention still focused on a heavily damaged Malta bomb housing unit. "Yes." Blunt as always you muse to yourself. "I would like to receive it." He points to a corner of the room with one of his robotic appendages. Your war gear sits on a rack in the far corner of the room.

As you retrieve your war gear from the rack you notice your bolt pistol is absent. "Chuan, my sidearm isn't here." The techmarine pauses his work and addresses you. "What do you mean it's, oh right." He gets up and moves to the back of the armory returning with an ornate bolt pistol. "Your pistol was damaged too heavily for me to repair I'm afraid, captain Xinhua decided this was a suitable replacement for a warrior of your caliber." He chuckles at his own statement and adds. "Though, those were his words not mine." Brushing off the remark you look the piece over. The image of a long serpentine drake coils from the base of the grip to the barrel where it's mouth opens as if to breath forth a plume of flame. Along the top of the sights an engraving reads "Unto the anvil of war" you immediately recognize it as the later half of your father chapters warcry. A bit taken aback you try to speak but only mutter out a staggered "I'm..." before Chuan interrupts you. "Honored? You should be, try and take better care of this one." Never knowing what fate lies ahead you deem it pertinent to pray for your brothers. As you will be the one leading the charge on your next boarding action a prayer for will and courage seems most fitting. Reciting your verses you beseech the emperor to protect your brothers and allow your own courage in battles past and future to inspire them. After many hours of prayer your body starts to feel heavy, you feel the weight travel through your body clouding your thoughts and dragging your eyelids shut.

A vision of a young man on a world of ice and snow laden trees. The cold bites at his skin as his ragged breathing rasps out in the world that is silent save for him. He's running but from what you can't see. He claws his way through a frozen underbrush bursting out onto a plain of snow. Breaking into a sprint his feet send clouds of ivory powder flying as he tries desperately to escape from some unseen pursuer. Something blots out the sun, the shadow of a great bird stretches across the plain. The tip of each wing stretched out along the ground as far as the eye can see. You plead inwardly that he not look back for somehow you know the bird will catch him if he does. Your plea goes unnoticed however, the boy's eyes turn skyward and a shrill cry rings out across the plain shattering your eardrums and waking you from the dream.

You awake with a start, the shrill cry of the bird is replaced with the drone of the ships alarm. The fleet has found the source of the signal.

You head for the bridge post haste, the crew is moving around in a frenzy. As you reach the bridge you see much of the bridge crew along with the chapter master and captain Xinhua your company captain. All eyes are locked on a drifting imperial vessel floating in the void of space, at first glance it seems entirely undamaged. From chatter among those present you ascertain that the ship in fact has no foreseeable damage. Scans also show life support is still operational with at least a few hundred life signs on board. Captain Xinhua addresses you "Vih' the vessel before us is the saints mercy we have little records on the vessel save for the knowledge that it isn't local to the Ultima Segmentum." You know what comes next. "Assemble some of your squad members and assess the situation on board the vessel. You nod and leave for the hangar post haste. Activating your vox link you contact three members of your squad.

Since we haven't established any members apart from Cihuatli it's time to roll up some squad members. Don't worry about names I've got that covered.

Got it

As you arrive at the hangar you see your squad gathered around a thunderhawk. All talking amongst themselves with the exception of the two sword brothers. Upon seeing you enter the hangar all chatter ceases as the squad awaits your orders. "Brothers, we are to board the derelict vessel assess the situation and offer aid to any survivors." Knowing the possibility of close quarters fighting presents itself you point to Tlacelel. "Tlacelel you'll be with me in the first wave." Hesitating for a moment you point to Nelli and Ocuil. "You'll be coming as well." Nelli begins boarding the thunderhawk immediately, betraying his eagerness. Before Ocuil can join him you pull him aside where the rest of the squad is out of earshot. "This is a rescue mission, I'm counting on you to reign in Nelli if he acts hastily." Ocuil offers a knowing look before following Nelli aboard. With the first wave on board you address your brothers. "The rest of you will stand by in the hangar to reinforce us should the need arise." You board the thunderhawk with Tlacelel in toe. As the transports aft door shuts you feel the engines roar to life. A drastic shift in the cabins weight and air pressure signals that you've left the hangar of the Dark Forge and entered the vacuum of space.

While riding in the thunderhawk, your squad looks over their war gear. Nelli takes pause from checking how much promethium he has to spare and looks at your hip. "A shiny new pistol Sergeant? Approaching Nelli you close in on him until your faces are only a few inches from his. You draw the pistol and look it over. "Who did I kill?" You continue to speak while Nellis eyes are drawn to the sidearm. "An orc Warlord, along with hundreds of his kin." You return the piece to your hip, then jab a finger into Nellis breastplate. "While you were no doubt busy frying snotlings I was cutting down scores of green skins behind the enemies front lines." You take a step back and allow Nelli to soak in your words. In the corner of the cabin Tlacelel shakes his head. Ocuil snickers but quiets quickly after Nelli shoots him an angry look. Breaking through the tension the pilot speaks to you all over the thunderhawks intercom. "We'll be touching down in the hangar of the saints mercy shortly Sergeant." You ready your wargear and prepare to board the derelict vessel.

The door opens immediately exposing a cadre of guardsmen in pearlescent black armor. You recognize them as the Vitrian Dragoons, a guard regiment that has been tasked with hunting down your chapter. He informs you that he'll be aboard the derelict shortly along with the rest of your squad. The pilot also informs you that under direct order of the chapter master you're to gauge the enemy's strength and fall back to the Forge. With your brothers on the Forge updated you press on further into the belly of the beast. With your heightened senses you can hear the footfalls of the guardsmen a few rooms ahead of you. The closer you come to the bridge the more guardsmen you can hear. As you finally approach the command deck you begin to overhear one guardsmen speaking, presumably an officer addressing the rest of the men. "Right! The enemy has taken the bait, we've confirmed a gun boat enroute to board our ship. Once this squad of space marines is on board we will ambush them at which point the rest of the fleet will lock in on our beacon and warp to our location. Today these traitorous xenos sympathizers will finally face the emperors judgement." With this knowledge at your disposal you attempt to vox the pilot so as to warn him but find your communications are jammed. The officer continues. "Remember shoot to wound, while the rest if their fleet burns we need to bring some of these traitorous Astartes back alive to face justice as per the instructions of the lord inquisitor." With no way to contact the Dark Forge your options are limited.

The time to face your foe has come, without hesitation you move into the bridge roughly two dozen guardsmen are gathered listening to their commanding officer, from their bearing and garb you discern that they make up the command staff for those aboard the vessel. Nelli acts quickly sending forth a stream of promethium into the assortment of officers. He catches five of them alight including the commander who was giving the speach. Shocked, much of those present simply look on in horror. Their fellow guardsmen screaming in agony as the flames sear their bodies. Ocuil is second to act spraying down those who aren't quick enough to react. As bolter rounds connect with bodies several more guardsmen pop like blood filled balloons. A little more than a dozen guardsmen remain for you and Tlacelel to deal with. A few guardsmen manage to ready their weapons but you are already upon them. Chain sword tears through flesh as you and Tlacelel carve your way through them. Before the guardsmen get their first shot off, you and Tlacelel have six slain between the two of you. A shot from a plasma gun soars through the air going wide over your head. Turning your attention to the guardsmen you fire a shot from your bolt pistol. The shot strikes the plasma gun causing a massive explosion that vaporizes the guardsmen caught in the blast and knocks the survivors onto their backs. With everyone dead or incapacitated you've secured the bridge. With both the fleet and your squad in immediate danger it's time to decide what to do next.

>return to the hangar and aid your brothers against the ambush.
Preparing to return to the hangar you notice one of the incapacitated guardsmen rise to his feet. Before you can strike him down he activates his armors stealth capabilities and flees the bridge. "Vulkan damn him." Ocuil curses out. "Sergeant we have precious little time before the thunderhawk returns. We must get to the hangar lest our brothers be slaughtered by these craven dogs!" Ocuil is right, at the same time you can't risk more officers escaping to lead the enemy. Turning to Nelli you order him to set the bridge ablaze. The overzealous marine cackles at your order. "I'd hoped you'd ask something like this Sergeant." Nelli retrieves a melta bomb from his waist warming it in the center of the room. With that taken care of you all take off for the main hall, the fastest route back to the hangar. Making your way through the bulkhead you break into a sprint. After a few seconds of running an explosion rocks the ship and you know Nellis bomb detonated successfully. On your way back to the hangar you encounter a scattered group of guardsmen. They seem to be confused as if they're wandering about the ship without orders. Shocked to see you and your brothers barreling towards them they try and engage their stealth capabilities and escape towarss the hangar. You cut them down before they can flee and arrive just outside the hangar. From your engagements with the Vitrians in the halls of the ship you summarized that the enemys communications are suffering from their own jamming. With the enemy also in disarray you have regained the upper hand, how do you proceed?

You and your men enter the hangar as the Vitrians are still setting up for the ambush. Some are setting up emplacements of Las cannons and auto cannons, others are giving their armaments last minute inspections. In all the Vitrians in the hangar number just over one hundred strong. Close to your men is a group of guardsmen testing the cloaking systems on their armor. As they activate and de activate the stealth field one of the men turns to face you. He screams out "Space Marines!" and is cleft in twain by Tlacelel. The entire force of guardsmen looks to your group of Astartes, the fight has begun. Guardsmen hastily bring their weapons to bare firing wildly in your direction. Numerous las rifle shots fill the room, you return with your own hail of bolter fire killing a number of guardsmen. Frantically those on the emplacements try and reposition their heavy guns in your direction but a few well placed frag grenades from Ocuil and a storm of fire Nelli ends them before they get the chance. Rushing headlong into the guardsmen you hack your way through one after the other. Tlacelel follows suit rending numerous guardsmen with his chainsword. After a few minutes of this the guardsmen begin to regain their bearings landing a few las rifle shots against your armor. Off to the side you see Tlacelel is in the same predicament, neither of you have taken any serious blows but their fire is getting more accurate. Ocuil and Nelli offer up suppressing fire from their position but the best they can do is keep those with plasma guns pinned down for the time being. What is your next course of action.
>push on further into the enemy, our brothers will be here shortly to retrieve us and I wish to claim as many of these guardsmens heads as I can before they do.

You recognize that your objective is simply to stall until the thunderhawk arrives, knowing this you signal Tlacelel to fall back into cover. After he leaves the foray of the melee you join him and your brothers. You kneel behind the wreckage of a valkyrie that was destroyed by one Ocuils frag grenades at the start of the firefight. From your cover you can see your brothers Tlacelel isn't far but moving to his position would expose you. Ocuil and Nelli are standing behind an empty shipping container, each firing away with their respective weapon liberally. With the majority of your body concealed behind the wreck you feel secure in peering around the side and returning fire. Your bolt pistol strikes a guardsman who was standing out in the open. The shot blows his arm off and sends him sprawling across the floor of the flight deck where he lies whimpering in pain. Suddenly a great roaring of engines drowns out the exchange of fire. The thunderhawk enters the hangar, the fire of it's jets engines lock the flight melting the metal underneath. The thunderhawks lighter guns whirr to life and spray a shower of hellfire among the Vitrians. Before the Vitrians can open fire on it it touches down on the deck drop door opening belching forth three separate streams of bolter fire. Usman stands at the mouth of the ship not breaking his suppressive fire as he calls to you. "Sergeant I think you've overstayed your welcome." Always the one to crack jokes even in the middle of a battle. You make for the thunderhawk with haste, boarding along with your other three battle brothers. The drop door seals shut and the thunderhawk takes off but not before firing a salvo of rockets into the hangar. Free of the saints mercy you look around the cabin your squad is silent. You demand a situation report. Eloxochitl is the first to speak up, he does so with a nervousness permeating from his voice. "It's utter chaos Sergeant, once we got close to the derelict coms went to grox shit." Topiltzin adds. "The last transmission we received from the Forge." (Pause for dramatic effect) "They were picking up multiple ships closing in. We'd hoped it was a mistake, some sort of ghost signal, would have made sense with the vox problems." You shake your head. "You all saw the Vitrians in the hangar, this is an ambush. Emperors grace to think we fell for such an obvious trap." The pilot interrupts your exchange. "Sergeant we have multiple ships inbound." Moving from the cabin to the cockpit you move next to the pilot, from your position in the cockpit you can see the Dark Forge along with the other vessels of your chapters fleet. Suddenly a few thousand kilometers from the fleet a warp rift begins to open. The enemy fleet has arrived.

Right now we're the closest ship in the fleet to the enemy, we have a choice to make

Both choices are incredibly risky, presenting ourselves to the enemies interceptors will be an issue regardless of our choice. If we return to the Forge we won't be of much use unless the enemy attempts to board. If we attempt to board the enemy we may be shot down on approach.

With the fleet in imminent danger you know there is only one course of action. Turning to the pilot you say with a stoic tone. "Take us in." The pilot looks at you, clearly confused he asks. "In Sergeant, you can't mean." Tension rising in your voice you repeat. "Take us in, we're boarding the enemy flagship." Cihuatli over hears you. "Are you mad, we'll be shot to pieces before we get close." You know he's right, even with their attention focused on the fleet you'll certainly be picked up by their sensors. You survey the battlefield, there must be something you can use to your advantage. "There!" You exclaim, pointing to an asteroid field lying between the two fleets. "If we can lie in wait there we may slip among the enemy unnoticed." Cihuatli grabs your shoulder. "Vih' you must stop this! Your pursuit of glory will be the death of the squad." You calmly remove Cihuatlis hand from your shoulder. "Do not assume false pride to me brother." You move to the back of the cabin. "Brothers, the fight is long from finished, the Imperium has sprung it's trap and the fleet is caught in their snare." You point towards the enemy fleet. "We stand now poised to shatter the trap and kill the hunter. Will you stand with me?" Without hesitation Ocuil speaks up. "I stand with you." Xipilli and Zelhua answer second. "Well, dying with my fist down the enemies throat is preferable to being blown to grox shit along with the fleet. We stand with you." Laughter slowly fills the cabin. Eloxochitl cries out "For the chapter!" and the squad follows suit. Remembering the engraving on your sidearm you simply reply. "Well then, unto the anvil of war."

The thunderhawk blasts through the void making it's way for the asteroid field. You've precious little time until the fleets make contact with one another. As the gap closes between the thunderhawk and the asteroid field a clarion call blares throughout the cabin. The pilot speaks to you. "We've been locked by an enemy fighter." "Drop chaff and maximize thruster output!" You shoot at the pilot who follows your order without protest. The thunderhawk picks up speed rapidly roaring onward to the asteroid field. A blinking red light illuminates the cockpit. "They've fired a missile." The pilot exclaims, fear in his voice. Trying to calm him you reply. "Stay on course, fire decoys." The pilot flips a small switch on the console of the helm, you hear a series of pops from within the cockpit as decoy buoys are sent into the void the draw fire. After a few seconds the blinking light dissipates. "We've broken from him, the fighter must have been too damaged to continue pursuit." Sure enough the blip on your radar you assume to be the fighter begins to grow further behind you until it disappears completely. The asteroid belt is within range, your thunderhawk stealthily slips in among the debris. You look to the pilot and order him to kill the engines. Floating in the asteroid field silently you prepare yourself mentally for what's required of you and your men. Standing in the cockpit, going over battle plans and strategy in your head you see both fleets coming into view. It's now or never

You smack the pilot on the shoulder signaling him to move in. The enemy fleet is nealry scraping their paint on the asteroids as you maneuver among their formation. Slipping underneath the belly of a cruiser you come upon the flag ship. Just as your mag locks latch onto her hull you can hear the trumpeting crash of the first salvos. The fleets have begun exchanging fire, you can see from the cockpit that your fleet is returning fire. Fighters zip around the fleets in tight formations, scattering like swarms of wasps as they come upon their targets. The drop door opens to the cold of space.

You can fight your way through the enemy and cripple their ability to launch fighters, however you'll alert the ship to your presence.

Your squad disembarks from the thunderhawk. Silence envelops you drowning out all sound. Vibrations rattle your teeth from the frequent explosions that rock the ship. Making your way across the hull of the ship until your near the bridge. You point to Nelli who readies a melta bomb attaching it to the hull of the ship. Waving your squad to get back Nelli detonates the bomb exposing the ships inhabitants to the cold void. You watch as a number of guardsmen and servitors are swept out into space. Your squad moves into the hole. Some guardsmen remain within the room, most are struggling to breathe but a handful have put on EVA equipment in time to offer some minor resistance. You swiftly cut them down, the room is cleared save for a couple guardsmen choking in the vacuum. Hailing the pilot you let him know you've boarded successfully. He requests orders.

>tfw you search images for "surrendering imperial guard" and nothing comes up

The crew surrenders, throwing their hands up and kneeling or lying face down on the deck. There is scattered gasps and muttering among the officers present, you approach the one officer who stood still among the commotion. An older mustachioed gentleman who stands at the helm. His breast is adorned with medals from years of service, you're confident this man is the highest commanding officer of the ship if not the fleet. As you walk up to him you aim your bolt pistol at his head. "Surrender your ship captain." He spits at your feet. "Over my corpse traitor." What is the appropriate response.

>you absolute mad lads
Without hesitating you summarily execute the captain of the vessel. Turning to the bridge crew you ask. "Who is second in command?" Before you get the response you were looking for a younger officer curses at you calling you all manner of obscenities. Turning to brother Xipilli you order him to secure the raging midshipman. Xipilli smacks the young officer to the ground, he's clearly holding back so as not to kill the guardswoman but it's still enough of a blow to knock her out cold. You return your attention to the crew. "I won't ask again, we'll work our way through everyone on the bridge until one of you does as we ask." Slowly an officer with sharp features and a full dark beard rises to his feat. "I am... was the second in command under the admiral." You remark inwardly that you need to brush up on imperial ranking insignia. "Right then." You cross the room and grab the man by his arm. After dragging him to a communication console you shove his face into it with a crack. He pushes himself up spitting up blood and a few teeth. "You're comrades have been trying my patience a great deal. Their lives are in your hands, contact the rest of the fleet tell them that the battle is lost and order a full retreat." The officer activates the vox hailer and changes it to a general frequency. "All ships of the Vitrian 331st the flagship is in critical condition." He hesitates but you motivate him by pressing your bolt pistol into his temple. "This is captain Charles of the Righteous Spirit, admiral Sergio has been killed and our bridge has received critical damage. All vessels are ordered to fall back to the previously designated rendezvous point." Slowly but surely the ships visible from the bridge start to break formation ceasing fire and activating their cogitators for warp jump. Xipilli moves next to you stepping over the unconscious officer. "Can I be blunt brother?" Shoving the officer off the console and onto the ground to wallow in his shame you turn to Xipilli. "What is it brother." He chuckles as he speaks. "I can not believe that worked." You can't help but let out a single sharp laugh at the remark. "Ha, truly the emperor was watching over us today." I'm back bitches

So based on consensus (and the fact that I don't really want to rewrite what happened) were going to stick with the execution. The more I think about it though the more the interaction makes sense. Our characters were in the middle of a pitched battle. They were racing against the clock to save their chapter from the enemy. Killing the admiral and threatening the bridge crew may seem cruel but it was the fastest way to save as many lives as possible.

A few hours have passed since the enemy fleet turned tail and ran. You stand in the hangar of the Righteous Spirit with your squad, around you your brothers walk about the flight deck moving supplies from the ship to be brought back to your fleet. In the far corner of the hangar your brothers from Revenge squad stand guard around dozens of surrendered guardsmen including the survivors from your seizure of the command deck. One of the Marines standing guard approaches you. From the rune on his helm you recognize him as brother Montezuma. "Brother I would have words with you." You nod and walk with him. "We've been directed by the captain of the second company to take a handful of hostages back with us to the fleet, so that they might be questioned for information regarding the enemies next move." He stops walking once you're out of earshot of the corralled guardsmen. "There is however another pressing matter, the saints mercy." He activates his vox tuning it into an unfamiliar frequency. The voice on the line claims to be an imperial officer from the saints mercy. The officer declares that the vessel was attacked by traitorous Astartes and they're holding out against the attackers but they're in dire straits. Montezuma kills the feed. "Thankfully the enemies jamming is working in our favor. They haven't been able to get that transmission out far enough for more imperial forces to hear it." This doesn't bode well, right now it's not an outside force you're worried about. If the crew aboard the Righteous Spirit hears the transmission it will likely inspire them to take up arms and continue the fight. "We've already sent two squads from the second company to deal with the forces aboard the saints mercy, should be dealt with shortly. I was told to offer your squad the opportunity to join them. This isn't an order, if you feel your men are better spent controlling the situation here I understand."
>join the other two squads in the assault
The saints mercy will have less than a hundred guardsmen defending her by now, but that signal is still a threat.

You're confident the second company has the situation handled. Letting Montezuma know you intend to stay aboard the ship and aid with keeping watch over the prisoners. The two of you return to the large crowd of guardsmen and Montezuma asks you to point out three among the crowd to take with you back to the fleet for questioning. Among the crowd six stand out to you. The captain you forced to send the message of surrender now sporting a swollen lip and black eye from your manhandling of him. A young ensign with her head bandaged, no doubt the one Xipilli knocked unconscious. An older guard Sergeant, his eyes constantly scanning your battle brothers. Two commissars, one sporting a cybernetic eye holds himself with regal bearing. The other is sitting with his back against a wall, his cap tilted down covering his eyes. He remarks with venom in his voice. "I threw away my honor to save my men, I'm not about to tell you anything about the fleet." You motion to one of the brothers of Revenge squad and point out the hospitalar dressing the wounds of a guardsmen. He moves into the crowd and drags her to you, throwing her down on her knees you aim your bolt pistol at her head. "Your mens lives are very much still on the line captain" the captain hangs his head and complies moving out of the crowd where Montezuma is waiting. The hospitalar looks at you fearfully. "You may continue tending to your men." She scurries back into the crowd. Brother Ytal, the marine who brought the hospitalar to you asks somberly. "You wouldn't have actually killed the woman if he didn't comply. Would you Sergeant?." "Of course not." Your answer reassures your brother, but you're not sure of it yourself. The guardsman Sergeant complies without protest leaving only the commissar. As you approach the sitting commissar you get a better look at him, the commissar doesn't budge an inch from his spot on the floor as you approach. "Commi-*snore*" you realize the man is out cold. Nudging him with your boot he starts awake. "W-what, oh the traitors. At least you lot won't shoot me for dereliction of duty." He laughs to himself. A bit taken aback by the relaxed nature of the commissar you tell him to join the others heading to the Forge, he stumbles to his feet and hurries to join them. With your hostages selected you return to Montezuma. "The first two, the captain and the guardsman will probably have valuable Intel. That commissar though..." Montezuma remarks. You let out an exhausted sigh. "We have our hostages, that's all that matters. If even one of them is willing to give up the location of their fleet that'll be enough." You think to yourself for a moment and add. "What now, do we just leave the rest of the crew?" Montezuma answers you. "More or less, we'll scuttle the ship cripple it's engines take what we can to repair the fleet and leave." You nod, in spite of your actions you truly wish to finish this without more bloodshed. Learning the location of the fleet from the hostages will allow you to avoid it in the future. As if on cue your vox comes to life, captain Xinhua is contacting you. "Brother Vih'. It would seem the enemy's jamming has been dealt with." You tell your captain it's good to hear his voice again. You notice his tone carries a measured balance of caution. "Your actions have once again won us the day, however I'm sorry to say the situation is less than optimal."
>>
>>3322564
Captain Xinhua explains that while the second company was successful in its seizure of the saints mercy and pacifying of its crew the enemy managed to get their transmission out past the jamming. "Imperial reinforcements are not yet confirmed enroute but we have precious little time regardless." Your window for escape is narrowing. You must choose how best to proceed.

Its a perfectly fine ship with a tiny hole in the bridge.

Maybe scuttle the saints mercy if we can't tow it or use it for spare parts and scrap. I say take both if we can.

Tell the crew to start fixing the hole in the bridge, a quick patch for now and reroute the ship controls to a secondary location.
>>
>>3322575

>>
>>3322608
Its hard to come across ships, let alone largely intact ships. This ship we got was a former flagship of a fleet. Since we are no longer able to be resupplied, getting fresh crew let alone ships is going to be next to impossible, we can offload the crew onto the saints of mercy.

We can offload them at the next stop or nearby habitable world.

We won't keep them for long if we don't want. A ship is incredibly valuable in 40k its worth more than most of the lives of the crew currently on it.

We won't have to offload all of them, just the ones who want to leave.

Okay.

If we keep the ship we won't have to offload all the supplies and the added benefit of an extra ship if a larger fleet, more room, and more capabilities for things such as extraction, recusing escaping allies from ships going down in flames, and more cargo and crew capacity.

There is also a small possibility if we ask really nicely, that we can assume command of the ship and use it as a mobile base for our operations. Heck we would have Battle Brothers who may want to transfer over to our team.

If it doesn't work out we can always sell the ship or trade it for something else. Hardly anyone says no to a ship for the right price, not even a chaos tainted rusting hulk that can barely move on its own power.

Now to address concerns and issues that may arise, lets start with the crew.

First off, we would need to make an attractive offer for some to stay. There are often people in the bellies or bowels of larger ships that live entire lives and generations aboard ships and hardly ever interact with the new command staff or crew. They simple work and live there. We ask who would take our offer to stay, and who would want to leave. Even if they ALL wanted to leave. We only need to offload the ones that could cause us the most problems and prioritize the bigger threats to be offloaded, and keep more important engineers and staff to be offloaded at a later time or next port of call.

Now what if there are tracking devices on the ship. Even better, we can lure and ambush the enemy fleet seeking our destruction at a place of our choosing rather than at a inconvenient time like if we are in the middle of a battle with another enemy force. We can also just remove said device.

It would take less time to just jack the ship and keep the crew co-operative and promise them if they don't cause trouble we will release them all at the next convenient place we stop at of their choosing.

Have to ask QM What is the state of the ship Saints Mercy? Can it move on its own power? If it can we should just offload the crews at the next port and keep both ships. If not then we can just pull up both ships and try to link them up so we can quickly rush everyone plus some supplies over a extendable walkway or Jet bridge rather than shuttle everyone over.
>>
>>3322575
>bring the Righteous Spirit with you
Yeah, I want to take the Righteous Spirit. We'll leave the majority of the crew somewhere safe they can get back to the Imperium from and keep the ship along with a skeleton crew.

This. There's NO reason not to seize a void-worthy battleship when we're already on the brink of annihilation.

>>3322697
Nice.

Couple of character-developing questions.

> Does Vih put more faith in the God Emperor or his Battle Brothers?
> How much does Vih loathe legitimate Heretics?
>>
>>3322715
> How much does Vih hate the Imperium?
I'd say none? Might feel insulted or hurt by what feels like a betrayal, but currently against the whole IOM probably none, his anger is probably more directed at Xenos, Chaos, and some of the people in the Imperium who branded him and his brothers heretics.

> Does Vih put more faith in the God Emperor or his Battle Brothers?
Not sure, we'll find out as we go, but since we aren't praising the Emperor every 15 minutes I'm guessing we lean towards the latter.

> How much does Vih loathe legitimate Heretics?
Probably a lot since we joined forces with some Elves to kill chaos Orks.

Just my opinion.

I think that seals it, majority has swung for bringing the ship.

With captain Xinhua still on the line you inform him of your intention to bring the Righteous Spirit into the fleet. "Hmm, that does seem to be the best option available to us." The line goes dead for a minute and captain Xinhua returns after stepping away for a moment. "I've spoken to the chapter master, he agrees with your decision. Vih' you have the helm for the time being." The vox buzzes off and Montezuma looks at you awaiting your direction. "Get the hostages to holding cells. Find those among the crew willing to operate the ship, essential systems only the weapons are to remain unmanned." Montezuma approves and goes about passing down your orders to the rest of your brothers who begin ushering the guardsmen about the flight deck. With your business settled you rejoin your squad and inform them of the situation. Nelli laughs uproariously "does this mean I have to call you captain now?" Xipilli and Zelhua join in. Cihuatli approaches you. "Vih', I apologize. I misinterpreted your actions as a blind pursuit for glory. I've fought by your side long enough to know you better brother." You stop him. "You had every right to be wary brother, I'm aware of how things must have appeared from your perspective." He let's out a sigh of relief. "Yes brother." With that settled your squad moves to the bridge where two marines from Montezumas squad stand guard over the imperials who offered to operate the ship. Taking your place at the helm you speak to everyone present. "Brothers, guardsmen! Take heed of my words, I've no doubt the word that hangs over your head and stabs at your conviction is traitor! But know this the only traitors are those that have forsaken the glory of mankind. Until today you men of the guard served under those that claimed to have the interests of humanity in mind. These same men would claim to know the will of the emperor all the while damning good men like yourselves to die for their own gain. I'd hope that our victory today shows you who the emperor truly stands with. Let me be the first to welcome you back into the emperors light, to welcome you into the fold of those who truly fight for mankind." Your speach seems to put the crew at ease. Usman approaches you. "Sergeant the second company has returned from the saints mercy, and the hole near the bridge has been suitably repaired for warp travel." You thank Usman ordering the helmsman to form up with the rest of the fleet and prepare for warp travel. With your business at the helm settled you leave the bridge and make way for the holding cells. Which of the three men you selected will you interrogate first.

Waking past the cells you see the guard Sergeant sitting calmly in his cell. You wouldn't be surprised if he's trying to formulate an escape plan. As you pass the captains cell you see him slumped against the wall his face in his hands, you can hear the faintest of sobs coming from him.

Coming upon the Commissars cell you open the door to find him lying on the floor, he throws a wave in your direction as you enter. "Astartes, how are you. Now I have some requests regarding my accommodations."

You let out a slight snicker. "Take no offense Commissar but I hardly think you're in a position to be making demands of us."

Hopping to his feet the Commissar looks at you. "Are you certain, I wasn't going to ask for anything too outrageous." A supply of amasec no doubt judging by the manner he was stumbling about on the flight deck.

You usher him into the hallway towards another cell you've set up for interrogation. "Answer my questions honestly and I'll see what I can do about your accommodations."

You reach a cell at the far end of the hall out of earshot from the other prisoners. As you both sit down you contemplate what to ask first.

>ask about the fleets next move
If the fleet is to remain hidden from those pursuing it you'll need to know where the enemy fell back to as well as their contingency plan

>ask who is ordering the Vitrians to pursue them
You remember the officer aboard the saint mentioning an inquisitor, might be a good place to start.

>ask about the Spirits crew
One of your most immediate concerns is policing the crew of the Righteous Spirit, knowing any potential rabble rousers could nip a potential mutiny in the bud.

You start with a simple question. "I can't imagine your regiment has been pursuing us of it's own accord, it's true the inquisition has labeled us excommunicatte traitorous but for entire regiment to be pursuing us means someone in the inquisition wants us dealt with. I know there's an inquisitor lord backing your regiment, I just need a name."

The commissar shakes his head. "Couldn't tell you." You slam your armored fist on the table between the two of you, warping the metal and splintering the embossed stonework along it's edges. The commissar seems unphased by your outburst. "No, no I don't know their name. But I do have other information about them."

You recognize he's being honest and let him continue. "We were ordered by an inquisitor to send out the false signal and ambush your chapter. How we new where you'd be, how many forces to bring, the battle plan were all ordained by the inquisitor lord."

Using the vox link in your helmet you command a nearby servitor to retrieve a bottle of amasec. "Is there any other pertinent information regarding this inquisitor?"

The commissar pauses for a moment of thought. "I assume you've already gathered but he's an inquisitor lord with a good deal of sway over the people of the imperium, after all how else would he requisition an entire regiment."

The servitor enters the room bringing what you requested and you pour the commissar a generous volume of amasec which he accepts graciously. "Anything else, have you seen what he looks like, heard his voice?" You ask impatiently.

The commissar exhales sharply after finishing the glass in one go. "No, and no... although I did learn something from chatter among the guardsmen. Allegedly he's of the Ordo Malleous."

You shake your head. "That can't be right are you sure that's what you heard." The commissar makes a gesture at his empty glass, you pour him another glass. "Like I said, it's just a rumor."

The commissar doesn't seem to have any more information regarding the inquisitor

The chapter never give an explanation to the partecipation in that battle.

But why they haven t give one (captains and chapter master ?) ? and more importantly why they don t want to ask for a trial ? like for sure you have many that would view you just dead, but not all.

>ask about the fleets next move

You move on to another topic. "The rest of your fleet had to have a designated fallback point, where would they go to regroup."

The commissar clicks his tongue and let's out a sigh. "Now that is in fact a question I have a solid answer for, problem is you're not going to like it."

Taking his glass from him you reply. "And why is that." Your voice bearing measured suspicion.

He motions for you to pass back the glass, you do so begrudgingly. "Because, they aren't going to just fall back and come at you again. They're going to the Ultrimar home worlds to regroup."

It was an answer you were afraid of, you were already in the Ultima Segmentum but considered the homeworlds of the Ultramarines too far to be of concern. "That's a long trip, even one way they don't expect us to still be here when they get the reinforcements they're looking for."

The commissar shakes his head. "Of course not, which is why they'll be waiting for you at a number of worlds they know you've used for resupply in the past."

You stare blankly at the commissar and ask "Why are you being so forth coming?" To which he replies. "I was sent in with the first wave to fight a group of traitorous Astartes, I thought I would be dead this morning and now I'm being treated to amasec by a heretic." Take a sip he adds. "No offense."

You feel there's more to it than that but you let it be.

Thanking the commissar for his time you step out of the room, taking the bottle of amasec with you to the annoyance of the commissar. Hailing your captain on the vox. "Captain Xinhua." The captain replies to your hail immediately. "I know what you're about to say Sergeant, we were listening in on your interrogation."

Before you can ask how the Captain continues. "If what the commissar said is true none of the worlds we've stopped at for aid in the past are safe." You make a suggestion. "What about a world we haven't been before?"

The captain answers. "It will have to be so, but whatever world we decide to hide out at will have to be outside the Ultima Segmentum. The chapter master and I along with the other company captains are considering a number of worlds that might make for suitable hideouts. And if it becomes unavoidable, strongholds to make our stand."

You think on the captains words. "My lord if that's the case we won't make it. The fleet simply doesn't have enough fuel to make it out of the Ultima Segmentum."

The Captain stops you. "I am aware of where we stand logistically brother. The fleet will be dropping out of warp soon, we'll be meeting with a rogue trader to discuss refuelling and rearming the fleet."

You let out a defeated sigh. You know who this rogue trader likely is, your chapter began dealing with them shortly after splitting from the imperium. They're shrewd, stingy, and ill tempered an all around unpleasant individual. That said they're also incredibly discreet and you can afford their rates.

With that the chapter master tells you to gleam what information you can from the prisoners and standbye for further instructions.

After returning the commissar to his cell you move to retrieve the captain, as you approach the cell you notice his sobbing has stopped. Entering the room you find him slumped over on his bed.

"Captain I need you to answer a few questions." The captain is silent. Growing impatient you walk up to him, as you touch his shoulder to grab his attention he falls face first onto the cold floor.

Turning him over you find a pair of hand shaped bruises around his throat. Rushing out of the cell and moving to the cell of the Sergeant you find it vacant.

Hailing your brothers you let them know the prisoner has escaped and strangled the Captain. Your brothers inform you the a handful of the guardsmen are missing as well.

Our men can take command of the situation. We can order them over the vox.
The best thing we can do is find out who is missing, so we know what to expect of them. If they're just guardsmen, should be fine. But demolitions experts, engineers, or other specialists? Bad news.
I also suggest that we get someone on the internal camera system analogue to search for the prisoners.

Abandoning the holding cells you make your way through the catacombs of the ships underbelly, eventually finding yourself at the threshold of the Righteous Spirit's command center. Two of your brothers, neither from your own squad, stand guard outside. Entering the room you briskly make your way to the helm and demand a status report on the vessel.

A guardsman manning the ship wide vox relay replies. "The hangar is secure my lord, teams are currently in pursuit of those who escaped. A few of your battle brothers are in reserve awaiting orders.

You'll need to decide where best tto station these marines.
>guard the engine room
>guard the armory
>guard the gellar field generator

After asking for a status report from the rest of the fleet another guardsman responds telling you that communication is spotty due to warp interference.

Finally you request
>Intelligence on those leading the mutiny
>number of guardsmen currently missing
>a coms check to confirm all battle brothers are accounted for
>>
>>3328177

>>
>>3328177

>>
>>3328243
How many men do we have? We can send a pair of marines to the armory and blow it up or sabotage it so when they go to arm themselves they trip a explosive.
>>
>>3328291
Blowing up an armory on a space ship is probably not a great idea
>>
>>3328547
Maybe not, but blowing up the doors is!
Vent it off into space! Vent all air on that deck.
>>
>>3328547
I just want to wreck all the guns so they can't use them. We don't need to blow up the entire room, I suppose there are explosives in the armory too then?
>>
>>3328598
I mean you could hypothetically destroy the armory, but it would cost the same amount of manpower it would take to just guard it. It would also take a lot of time and potentially cause serious damage to the ship.
>>
>>3328766
Can't just throw in a krak grenade and bugger off?
>>
>>3329069
And blow a big ass hole in the ship?
Ratings have shotguns because lasweapons hitting the wrong areas would be too bad for the ship, imagine an armouries worth of rounds, bolter, autocannon, flamer, plasma, and untold numbers of grenades would do in a small confined area?
>>
>>3329083
That's fine, we have bulkheads for that.
>>
>>3329148
Mate, an armoury on a ship needs to arm potentially thousands of people.
Thousands of grenades, hundreds of thousands of rounds.
All going off in a tight, confined space, it's going to hit like a macrocannon round, except inside the ship, behind the armour.
Bulkheads won't do anything to that kind of pressure. If the armoury goes up, it could very well shake the ship apart, depending on type of vessel, age, and damages sustained.
Regardless, it would cause major damage to the structural integrity of the ship. We can't bugger off fast enough to outrun the area of effect.
>>
>>3329423
>>3329148
Besides, what if we need to actually use the weapons? The warp is not a safe place.
>>

You order what brothers are not occupied with hunting down the prisoners or guarding those that haven't escaped to guard the engine room. You can ill afford to lose such a critical system at this time lest you fall behind the rest of the fleet. With your brothers stationed the guardsman monitoring ship security systems alerts you that there is significant movement near the armory. However he also tells you that something is triggering motion sensors near the gellar field generator. With no one else on hand to guard the armory it will surely be over run, however if someone plans to deactivate the ships gellar field it could damn all lives aboard. As she's about to speak you interrupt her. "Stand down!" Trying to retort she opens up. "I will not be ordered by a here-" you kneel down until you're eye level and remove your helm, the motion surprises her.

"I've given you a chance to resolve this peacefully, but I'm going to beg with you for a moment. I'm going to plead with you not to throw your lives away. If you don't stand down the rest of your men will not survive. I won't spout some empty words about how the rest of your regiment will have the memory of what we do to you burned into their hearts. As your brothers come to take the mutineers to the holding cells you begin to make your way to the gellar field generator.

Before leaving you lock eyes with the ensign, her eyes filled with contempt. She bites her lip drawing the slightest drop of blood.

As you draw nearer to the generator you feel your stomach lurch. The telltale signs of warp corruption clamping onto your already hampered psyche. You notice that the hue of the room suddenly turns a shade of.

You feel your stomach lurch as you close in on the generator. Occasionally noticing things that seem in their that you swear were always there. But how would you know if that talking head has always been mounted above the door to your chambers. You knock on the door three times and the head confronts you with a riddle. "What is the beast that prowls both at the furthest depths and the highest reaches, that sings a sight and draws a song."
>solved the riddle
>seduce the head
>kill the head

It is the seven headed beast that devours the tyrants that fall from ruin and plucks the Grand Kings that ascend to the earthly skies. You are the slickness that dwells and the Aura that never leaves, and the sound of the winter whispers at night. You are Revelations reincarnate.

If that doesn't work then

Oh noes, we are being corrupted, damn that's bad.

Just cough up, I'm liking it, its not always we get to play with good hearted renegades, and ones that fight alongside eldars and other xenos too, this is good.

This isn't right, non of this is right! How did you come here, just a moment ago you were chasing after a Sergeant headed for the gellar field generator. No, he must have disabled it.

After what feels like an eternity you force yourself free of the warps grasp. Your vision tunnels and the world around you seems to melt upwards before you crack your helm against the bulkhead. Looking around you realize you've been frozen in place since you first saw the luminous shift in hue the visible color spectrum. Your just one room shy of the gellar field generator. Bursting through the bulkhead you come face to face with the escaped Sergeant and a handful of guardsmen. They appear to be performing some kind of ritual around the generator. On the exposed arm of the Sergeant you can make out a tattoo in the shape of.

Plain as day the weight pointed wheel is branded on the arm of one of the guardsmen, you notice the guardsmen for the most part sport pale complexions and sunken eyes. The Sergeant who strangled the captain stands at the center of the ritual.

He points a finger at you and begins to monologue. "You're too late Space Marine!"

Listen to him.
The warp is funny, he might be relying on us dropping him. Or it might just make it worse.
>>
>>3349411
Supporting this.
>>
>>3349384
Make sure to record everything in our helmet.
If we get a chance, ask him why he killed the Captain.

Then ask him to explain his plan and kill him and all the traitor guardsmen when they seem the most distracted.
>>
>>3349384
>let him explain his evil plan
if we know what he is doing, it will be a lot easyer to foil hes plan
>>
>>3349823
Recording it sounds good.
If the rest of the crew learns that they have being following chaos worshippers maybe they will accept us easely, that Ensign did not look or act like a chaos fanatic.

With a quick check to make sure your helmets internal camera is on you let the cultist explain his plan.

Despite his earlier stoic demeanor he now flaunts and flourishes his every gesture and utterance. "To think a legion themselves forsaken would be the ones who came closest to halting our progress."

His tone filled with an arrogant self assuredness that grates on your nerves. "When that wretched inquisitor came to our leaders we were certain he'd caught on to our plans to corrupt the outer worlds of the Ultima Segmentum. Our brothers had spent decades infiltrating regiments and worlds throughout the outer reaches of the region. What luck we thought! That the fool would send us after a legion of traitors. And now we sit at the apex of my masters machinations once your gellar fields are down my benevolent patrons will have their way with the souls aboard this ship."

Letting out a wild and unsettling bout of laughter that turns into a stream of joyous tears he finishes. "And after your brothers have been corrupted and the loyalist filth brought to heel I will ascend."

He points at you. "Now I ask you in your final moments, will you die for your corpse God or join the ruinous powers like so many of your brothers have wisely done before."

enough talk take him out before he summons something though
pick him up and drag him away from the gellar field first or disrupt the ritual somehow. Don't want spilt blood attracting the wrong kind of attention
