Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls in secret. But now, with their existence revealed, a great cloud of change looms over Dark Gate Academy.

>Many years ago

“Bro, how much further do we have to walk? My feet hurt...”

Sora lets out a sigh, holding tight to his brother's hand. They have to keep moving, they already stopped long enough to remove that shard of glass from heel. The look on Ninsei's face, his loud sobbing when he saw the blood and wound... Sora has been trying to ignore the pain himself. Put on a brave face for his little brother.

“I know we've been walking for a while, but we have to keep going,” Sora explains, looking back to see the smoke of flames still on the horizon. “We're almost there, I promise.”

“You said that an hour ago...” Ninsei whines, wiping tears from his eyes with a sniffle.

Sora shakes his head. “Mom and Dad told to keep moving, no matter what, remember? Come on...” He hunkers down and offers his back to his brother. “If it hurts so much, hop on. I'll carry you.”

Sora knew it was pushing his little brother too much to walk this far... he's only a mere child. Well, Sora is a mere child himself... but their life is on the line. Sora grimaces and pushes through the intense pain in his heel to carry the young Ninsei up the hill en route to safety.

“D-do you think mom and dad-” Ninsei begins.

“They made it out safe,” Sora interrupts. “I'm sure of it. We'll see them again at the meeting point, okay? Big smiles, Ninsei. Big smiles.”

As Sora reaches the peak of the hill, he feels a sharp gust of wind behind him. Unusual. He looks back and still sees the smoke of the town where he once lived. He turns around... to see a figure covered in blood standing before him. Not only drenched in blood that is certainly not his, but brandishing two swords with a sadistic grin. How did he...?

“Well...” he smirks, licking his blade with a psychotic stare. “Looks like we have two runaways!”

Sora recognises the man behind the gore and begins to panic. He was the one leading the charge into the town... Goa, they called him. And now he stands covered in blood, staring him down. With the weight of his equally terrified brother on his shoulders, Sora collapses to a knee.

“P-please...” Sora mutters to himself. “You wouldn't kill us... we're just children...”

“Wouldn't be my first today,” Goa cruelly and coldly states. “Don't beg. I hate beggers.”

Sora looks up at Goa, holding tightly to a shivering Ninsei. He thinks of his parents, likely gone, and his young brother. No... he can't let it end like this. He won't let Ninsei be harmed. Sora look to the side and sees a large looking branch of a tree. He grabs it and stands tall, swinging it while still gripping to Ninsei with his free hand. “Stay back! I'll fight you off if I have to!” he exclaims. “I mean it!”

Goa stares at Sora, standing his ground and wildly swinging, and begins to crack up. “Oh... I like that. You're a pretty strong willed kid, ain't ya?”

“Get back!” Sora warns him again.

Goa smirks, as he lowers his guard. “I appreciate some strength in this world. Get moving, kid. That's my good deed for the day. If you can hit those bushes in the next ten seconds, I won't change my mind and gut you.”

Sora's eyes widen as he quickly clings to Ninsei and runs. He just about makes it to the bushes in time as Ninsei hugs into him tight, burying his face in Sora's back to wipe away his tears. “Sora... I'm scared.”

To no surprise, their parents weren't at the meeting point.

The two brothers bawled their eyes until Sora finally decided they should get moving to their back-up plan. They travelled just a bit further beyond the meeting point, finding sanctuary in a nearby monastery were they would be given food and shelter. The monks took them in and gave them a home, where they would live for the following years.

Both children dealt with the grief in different ways. Sora became a trainee monk within the monastery, reading scriptures, helping the elders, and doing his best to find inner peace within his soul. He worked to let go of all his anger and sadness and become one with himself. Ninsei on the other hand had no interest in letting things go. He often lashed out and rebelled, was always a source of trouble for the monks. Most days though, he would rather be left alone, retreating into himself with his hobbies to help cope, like his penchant for gardening.

Sora couldn't blame Ninsei for acting out. The more he sought inner peace, he realised the more emotionally distant he had become from his brother... at a time when Ninsei needed all the emotional support he could get. The two brothers grew cold, and rarely spoke on a daily basis. Eventually, Sora would receive an invitation in the mail addressed to him. Curious how anyone would know his name when all traces of his past before becoming a monk were burned to the ground. It invited him to join a school in the mainland of Japan, in a small village named Dakugeto.

He took the opportunity, and his brother would follow him the year later. Still... you wouldn't be able to tell the two were brother's at first glance. They haven't felt like brothers since that night they ran for their lives.

>Current Day

“Something tells me the fight is far from over...”

You mutter to yourself as you stand with the group, not far from the gates to the grounds of Risa's family mansion. Amaya is busy healing you as Makoto looks out into the distance before turning back. “Can you still fight, Kazuma? Your battle against Major Kage was... rough.”

“As soon as Amaya heals me up,” you reply. “I'll be back in action. For Risa's sake... I've gotta press on.”

Akuro looks to the tower detached from the mansion. “That's where they keep her, huh? To think, being kept so secluded for all your life, hidden from the world and having the world around you hidden...”

“I doubt she's expecting us,” Anri adds. “I shudder to imagine what she's thinking.”

“Yeah...” Hanako sighs. “She must be so worried. She's probably thinking that she's all alone in the world... that nobody would come to save her... Oh, Risa...”

“Yes?”

A voice calls out as the entire class' heads jerk around to see Risa rounding the corner with a smile on her face. Hanako lets out a yelp in shock and falls flat on her behind with a groan. “B-but you were... we were... rescue!”

Mio is the first to slowly approach Risa. “Hey... we-”

Mio is quickly interrupted from a tight, constricting hug from Risa, which a surprised Mio slowly reciprocates. “I missed you, you low down dirty snake,” Risa sniffles.

“W-well I missed you too you stuck up judgemental snob!” Mio smiles back, hugging her tighter.

“Risa?!” Amaya yells, before running directly towards her and mowing her best friend down with a tackle hug. You've never seen Amaya so ecstatic over anything.

“H-hey!” Risa chuckles. “No need to trample me! I was coming for you next... this was your idea, wasn't it, Amaya?”

Amaya smiles and nods with happy tears filling her eyes. “Well we kinda just all silently agreed on it as soon as you were taken. We didn't really have to give it a second thought.”

Risa looks to the class that has gathered for her and begins rubbing her eyes. “You guys...”

“How'd you make it out of that tower, anyway?” you ask.

Chuichi nods. “Yeah, here we were with this huge rescue mission and you've gone and freed yourself!”

Risa shakes her head. “I didn't do it myself, Kats broke me out of there.”

Amaya's eyes light up. “All alone in a tower when suddenly a gallant rogue climbs through your window and brings you to safety... it's like something out of a storybook! Something I've always dreamed of!”

“Anyone else worry about our number two most capable person in class getting off to the idea of being in danger?” Chuichi points out. “Just me? Okay.”

“Surely you rewarded your rescuer with a noble kiss on the-”

“-Don't even suggest it,” Risa wretches.

Mayu sits up, still banged up from the previous fight. “Where is Katsuyori? You said he saved you... but he is not accompanying you.”

Risa hangs her head down. “He said he had to take care of something, and he'd meet us later...”

Gado and Ninsei look to each-other and sigh. “That idiot...” Gado mutters.

“What?” Alice asks, tending proudly to Concordia after the fight, who despite her exhaustion is greatly appreciative of the doting attention her master is paying her. “What did he do?”

“He's going to do exactly what I'd be doing in his situation...” Gado points out. “He knows that once you've pissed off General Aoki, there's no escape, no matter where you run.”

“So... he's gone to confront Aoki himself,” Ninsei notes. “Alone. Without back-up, he's a goner.”

A small silence falls over the group, before Kiriko speaks up. “So I guess this means we're not done yet?”

“Huh?” Risa raises an eyebrow.

“Come on,” Kiriko assures you. “You expect us to make a break for it now? We're not leaving until everyone is safe.”

You nod. “Yeah, it's kinda how we do things now.”

Chihiro plays with her hair and lets out a laugh. “I must say, I'm quite proud of my kouhais!”

“Okay then...” Risa stands tall. “Listen everyone, this won't be easy. My father's forces are even greater than you can imagine, but I'm not going to abandon my friend... and the people of this town. We're going to help them break free, run to safety... and to do that, we'll have to take out my father.”

“Risa...” Amaya mutters. “Listen, I know this must be a difficult situation for you. You've known that man as your caring father all your life, and even knowing his action, I'm sure the idea of bringing an end to him could lead to some hesitation-”

Risa grabs her sawn-off shotgun from Mio's stock casually, with little hesitation. “If you can't do it, I will. I have no reservations... my father is a monster.”

"I know," Risa replies with a friendly smirk. "What happened to you, by the way?"

"Took out that Major," you reply. "You know, the robot one."

Risa eyes widen. "You did?"

"Yeah, wasn't easy."

She turns around. "Huh... maybe this won't be as impossible as I thought."

Risa looks to the group, and points out Taiyo. "If we're going to free the people, it's more than just a matter of taking out my father and his top men. There are security systems all over the place... plus a lot of men in a lot of machines with a lot of firepower."

"And what are you suggesting?" Taiyo asks.

"I know you aren't exactly attached to us humans..." she explains. "But you're the only one powerful enough to take them out while we grab Kats and run. Would you...?"

Taiyo nods. "Make no mistake, I may not be human, but over the last while I've felt a camaraderie with all of you. Nor can I stand by and watch this suffering. I will help the people, as you ask."

As Taiyo turns to move, Omitsu looks to Risa and nods. "Oh... you're here too," Risa notes. "And you're... staying to fight?"

Omitsu nods again.

"Good," Risa smiles. "With Taiyo taking out the machines, we could use your brand of firepower against my father."

>Meanwhile

“Get up you stupid kid. Do you want to die?”

Katsuyori's earliest memory is a hazy one. He must have only been a couple years old so he can't recall much... in fact it often only comes back to him in moments of deep sleep. A memory or a dream? He cannot tell. In it, he's lying on the ground a mere child likely unable to walk, and he's screaming in a deep pain. Colonel Goa stands above him with his sword drawn, beckoning him to get up if he wishes to survive? Survive what?

By his earliest clear memory, Katsuyori was being raised by that crazed terrifying man screaming at him as a mere baby. Not only that, but he was a prisoner in effect. Forever indebted to the man who raised him and the land he worked within, Katsuyori never had a chance to leave. Though, even as a young child he knew that his apparent 'father', Colonel Goa, was of no relation to him, of no emotional connection. What's more, he knew that he was a truly evil man, as was the general who ruled over him. They only kept him around because he was special. Special... for as long as he could remember, he was different from other people. Like the Colonel and the General, he operated on a higher level from other people. He was faster, stronger, more durable... he never knew why. Goa did, but after a long time of no answers, Katsuyori stopped asking the question.

Regardless, Katsuyori worked to keep his own skin safe. He never killed. He made sure of that. But that was little comfort to him. Why go through all that effort to bring a target alive to the general if their fate would be worse in his hands? In a way, Katsuyori thought himself selfish. He would rather someone meet a gruesome fate at the hands of Goa or Kage or Aoki than have that blood directly on his own hands.

Katsuyori lived that way out of fear. Fear of the great power of the general. The awe-inspiring might of Masahiro Aoki. By the time he was a teen, Katsuyori was broken into the system. Hatred, pure hatred for everything around him, but with a complete inability to change it.

But today, Kats finally has that chance. An opportunity within the chaos. One last desperate hope of freedom. His chance to ride into the sunset has come at last.

“Risa...” he mutters to himself as he turns a corner, taking out the stationed guards in Aoki's mansion as he sneaks towards his meeting room. He promised the princess he would meet up with her again after this. He thinks briefly to himself what he would do after becoming a free man, never having truly considered such a thing outside of some fanciful daydreams until today.

Rounding another corner, Kats reloads his gun as he stands before the massive double doors in the mansion. Aoki's office... though in scale and grandeur it's more like a throne room, as expected of an ego driven monster like him. Kats readies his boot to kick the door down and-

“Enter.”

A voice speaks on the other end. Aoki.

“Enter. And don't use your feet like a savage. The door has a handle.”

Kats is taken aback at the casual request. He hesitantly reaches for the door handle, shakes his head, and kicks the door open, taking the massive double doors off their hinges and falling forward. Kats steps in over them, to see Aoki standing at the head of the room by his throne like chair, adjusting his gloves with a grimace on his face. “You will regret that decision.”

“My brains moving too fast to regret anything,” Kats replies. “Like this.”

Kats fires a shot, and Aoki doesn't budge. Instead, the bullet is intercepted and deflected by an outside force, one Aoki trusts more than any. He moved so quick, Kats' eyes couldn't even register Goa coming in, slicing the bullet clean in two in the process, before appearing in front of Kats with his blade still drawn. “Never thought you'd have the nerve, kid.”

Kats chuckles slightly to himself. “I should have known. Guess I'll have to go through you before I can get to the general, huh?”

“Nah.”

Goa pulls away and simply pats Kats on the shoulder. “I draw the line at killing the kid I raised.”

“Goa...”

“This ain't mercy,” Goa notes. “The general's even more vicious than me. Besides, I'm off to cut down all your friends out there.”

Goa walks past Katsuyori, before turning his head. “Y'know... I kinda hope you beat him.”

Goa continues as Kats forms a confused look. Why would Goa hope that? He's completely loyal to Aoki. Or maybe he was never loyal, just afraid like he's been all this time.

“Your gun has five shots.”

Aoki's commanding voice cuts through the room as Katsuyori stands to face him off. “You won't have time to reload before I end your pathetic, mutinous life.”

“Won't need to reload,” Kats laughs. “Hell, I don't even have any spare ammo. But it'll only take five before I put you away.”

“Is that so?” Aoki asks. “Now, just when did a lowly mercenary child like you suddenly develop this nerve?”

“Blame your own kid,” Kats smirks. “That stuck-up princess of yours taught me something.”

Aoki raises an eyebrow. “Do not insult my daughter. She is of a greater standing than you will ever be-”

“I'll insult my best friend all I'll like!” Kats fires back. Best friend? Where the hell did that come from? Well... it isn't untrue.

“And I suppose this is your thoughtfully noble attempt to rescue the girl?” Aoki asks.

“Nah,” Kats responds. “I already rescued her.”

“What?!” Aoki yells. “You took her from her tower and placed her in danger?!”

Kats smirks. “If you think she's in danger you mustn't have much faith in her. And this ain't about her. This part is all revenge. Now hurry up and fight me, oh great general. You're a coward if you don't.”

Aoki snaps his gloved finger, and appears behind Kats. Damn, he's fast! Aoki rigidly aligns his hand as, connecting his fingers as if his hand were a solid blade, before moving to pierce it between Kats' shoulder. Kats just about avoids it, but suffers a swinging kick to the stomach which launches him like a baseball across the room. Kats coughs up some phlegm with a little bit of blood as he sees Aoki calmly approach. He should have known this fight wouldn't be easy...

>Back to the group

"Everyone who is too hurt to keep going, follow Taiyo's trail to safety," Risa commands. "Amaya can only heal your wounds so much with the time we have. Don't feel pressured to keep fighting."

"I can still go," you reply, performing a jumping jack to prove your fitness. "Whatever I did in that last fight, I seem to be healing up quick."

Mayu in turns hobbles forward, needing assistance from Kiriko. "I... I too will assist."

"No way," Makoto shoots her down. "Mayu, I respect your tenacity but after that last fight you can barely walk."

"N-no..." Mayu mutters. "I am a fighter, and I have my pride. I refuse... I refuse to back down from my duty-"

Mayu collapses under herself and Kiriko holds her steady. You take Mayu's hand and give her a reassuring look. "Mayu, go with the injured."

"But I can fight!"

"Not in this state," you reply. "You know that... don't put your life in danger out of stubbornness."

"My mother would-"

"You're not your mother," you respond.

Mayu grimaces, looking away in shame. But you can tell that she's given up arguing.

"I'll chaperone our wounded kouhai," Chihiro notes. "They'll need someone to protect them in event of an ambush!"

You and Mayu share a kiss as you tell her to keep safe. She's sure as hell not happy to retreat. It goes against everything she believes. But you're glad she swallowed her warrior's pride for now.

"Brother," Ninsei turns his head to Sora. "You may as well go with them. You're a non-combatant, after all."

Sora stand up from his meditation. With his staff at hand, he looks to Ninsei and gives him a nod, before walking past him, pressing on to the grounds of Aoki's mansion.

"Hey, didn't you listen to me?" Ninsei exclaims. "Go back with the others! You... jackass..."

Ninsei clenches his fist and shakes his head, as Sora continues to casually stroll forward.

"And what's he supposed to do?" Ninsei scoffs. "Watch peacefully as I fight for my life?"

Ninsei clenches his fist tighter before running after Sora and calling out to him. "Slow down you idiot! You'll get ambushed if you stray away from the group!"

"Master Alice..." Concordia mutters. "I know I am wounded, but if I can be of any use to you still... I know I failed to meet your expectations in the last battle-"

"No you didn't!" Alice smiles and reassures her while patting her head, avoiding her horns. "But you can help by taking Manabu to safety!"

With that, the rest of the group press on through the gates of Aoki's mansion. "Now, while Taiyo is busy taking out the jets and tanks-"

Sora stands still. "I remember this..."

You look back to Ukon, as his midsection begins to bleed, before spurting blood from what seems to be a very deep cut. Mai lets out a horrified scream as Ukon collapses, and Amaya quickly scrambles to heal him.

The gust comes again, and now Atasuke goes down with a serious wound.

"The hell's going on?!" Gado yells.

"Someone's here..." you mutter, before feeling the gust fast approaching you. You spin around and parry with your sword, clashing blades with a man. He leaps back and twirls his blade before licking the blood clean from it.

Colonel Goa.

"How's it going?" he asks. "Don't worry about your buddies, I went for maiming rather than killing. Just wanted to give you all a little fright to start."

As you look on in fear, he smirks. He was just showing off how far ahead of you he was... even Major Kage pales in comparison to what he just pulled off. General Aoki paces the room, like a predator stalking his prey. Katsuyori may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but even he recognises when he's being toyed with by someone who doesn't take him seriously as a threat.

“I figured you for the calculating and efficient type,” Kats splutters up some blood from that last shot. “You remind me more like a house-cat, pawing around with a mouse. Is this enjoyable to you?”

“If you're asking if I'm a sadist the answer is no,” Aoki explains. “I'm merely considering whether or not I should kill you.”

Kats laughs. “Nobody really put that much thought into me before.”

Aoki adjusts his gloves. “You could be a valuable asset, considering your abilities. It would be a waste to exterminate you, Katsuyori.”

“Well then you shouldn't have told me to guard your little princess,” Kats jokes. “I'm gonna complete the job of protecting her, if you don't mind. Why'd you even pull her from that school?”

Aoki lunges forward, as Kats leaps back, firing a bullet that misses the general. “A poor aim? Panic must be setting in,” Aoki remarks.

“Nah, it's just that the door has a handle,” Kats smirks.

The bullet ricochets off of the handle to the collapsed door of the room, and flies back piercing through Aoki's shoulder. He crumples forward, more damaged by surprise than the actual wound. “How did you?”

“Impressed?” Kats twirls his gun as he moves a safe distance from the general. “I am the master of misdirect. You're too quick for me to get a regular shot on, but you can't possibly calculate the trajectory of my bullets in time with the help of some sleight of hand. I've already calculated your speed and movement patterns too, boss. There'll be no dodging my aim.”

“An amusing bluff,” Aoki responds.

“That's not what the smoking hole in your shoulder is saying,” Kats jokes again.

Aoki shakes his head. “That's not what I mean. You walked into this room with nothing more than a six shooter... and I can tell by the look on your face that you don't have any back-up ammunition.”

“I...” Kats mutters, knowing he called it right.

“I may not be the mathematical prodigy you are,” Aoki explains. “But by my simple calculations, you have four more shots if you wish to finish me.”

Kats grimaces. He's entirely right... If Kats wants to come out on top, he needs to think smart, get the best possible results with the ammunition he has... only four bullets. “Sit tight princess,” he mutters to himself. “This is gonna be a rough fight.”

"What can I say?" Goa shrugs. "We're old friends. Been through a lot together. Plus... I'm a killer. He gives me things to kill. It's a mutually beneficial relationship, in a way. Speaking of..."

Goa rushes from sight again, and appears before Sora. Your elder schoolmate despite his greater experience doesn't move at all, and it takes Nariko-senpai rushing before him to block the attack and send Goa back again.

"Sora!" Nariko chastises him. "What are you doing?! You didn't even try to block or dodge! Sora...?"

Sora is frozen, but you notice his eyes are still following the path of Goa. This goes beyond Sora's typical non-involvement in combat... he's petrified with fear.

"Sora!" Ninsei calls out. "What are you so afraid of?"

"Him..." Sora mutters. "He was the one... that night..."

Ninsei pauses, his eyes widening as all the memories seem to flood back to him. "When we escaped... that means..."

Tami looks to Ninsei, concerned. "Ninsei?"

"He's the son of a bitch who killed my parents," Ninsei mutters. "I'm gonna kill him in turn."

Goa's movements are so fast, they're hard to keep track of. But as you stay focused you can see that he's circling around the group, closing in on all of you. He's playing with his food...

Makoto nods and directs the rest of the group to bunch closer together and cover all ends. Those of you with weaker reflexes stay safe in the centre of the circle while the most capable of the group stay on the outside. You, Roka, Amaya, Makoto, Omitsu and Nariko hold your respect weapons out and at the ready. Each time Goa approaches, you or one of the others are able to deflect him, forming some sort of Schiltron formation to hold him back.

Goa appears again before the group, staring at the full formation. "You kids sure are co-ordinated, I'll give you that much. You'd all make good Majors in Aoki's forces... y'know we are missing a spot there."

"We've got eachother's backs," Makoto replies. "You can't take any of us down."

Goa tilts his head and scratches the facial hair under his chin. "True... but you're not exactly moving anywhere either, are you? You can stand at the ready all day, and you can hold me off, I'll admit... but unless any of you actually take the fight to me, you won't be making any progress."

"Damn, it's true..." Gado mutters.

"He's fast, but I think me and Dreamer should be able to blast him!" Alice suggests.

Omitsu shakes her head and gets ready to step forward... until Nariko stops her. "No... I can take him on," she explains. "I can match his speed and strength. I... just have to get mad first, that's all."

"Then hurry up and get mad!" Akuro exclaims.

"Nariko..." Sora mutters, his voice full of worry.

"W-well... I can't exactly get mad on my own!" Nariko explains. "It doesn't work like that! I... I need someone to make me angry. Really angry!"

"So what, you need me to insult your dumb hair?" Akuro asks. "I dunno what makes you mad!"

Well, if that's the plan, someone has to...

>Sae, you're an angry person. Rile Nariko up, it's an emergency!

>Chuichi, you have a habit for making women angry, go for it.

"Hey, now's not a great time for jokes!" Chuichi notes.

"But I wasn't joking," you point out.

"Yeah, it's an effective method," Mio responds, and the rest of the girls nod in agreement.

Chuichi sighs. "Well, thanks for the vote of confidence! Okay, I'll give it a try... hey, I hear you like cats? Maybe we could catsit together sometime, if you can put up with my nyan-sense."

No reaction.

"Get it...?" Chuichi piles on. "Nyan-sense? Like nonsense... but a cat?"

"I'm trying to get mad..." Nariko scrunches up her face. "But that's just not enough... I'm annoyed, but I'm not angry... I'm really trying, guys..."

"Well I did my best... and by that I mean worst," Chuichi admits defeat.

Goa shoves his pinky finger in his ear, cleaning out the wax while bored. "You know... this is probably the most embarrassing last ditch effort I've ever seen from someone I've killed. I have to give you people that... now I'm hoping I don't accidentally skewer the general's daughter when I cut you all down."

"Please... please..." Nariko mutters to herself, as a desperate tear drops down. "I want to help them... why can't I ever use this to help? What's wrong with me?"

With that, Sora takes a deep breath... and steps out of the huddle. He throws his staff aside as he casually walks up to Goa... who doesn't hesitate in ramming the sword through his midsection.

"SORAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Ninsei screams in agony, as his brother looks back to the group with a smile.

"This is what you needed, right?" he asks, before being tossed aside by the Colonel.

"Alright, that's one down!" Goa laughs. "Who's nex-what the hell?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=611k184Ia3E

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!"

Bursting from the group at an incomprehensible speed, Nariko launches forward and headbutts Goa, cracking his face in the process in an explosion of blood. She continues the assault, stabbing the colonel before he regains his bearings and starts to block the rapid animalistic slashes from Nariko, but he's still very much on the defensive, being driven back away from the group.

"Sora..." Ninsei grabs Amaya by the elbow and runs with her while the coast is clear to Sora's side, where she begins to heal the monk.

"He's alive..." Amaya breathes a sigh of relief. "That was a crazy move."

"But it seems to have worked," you note. "Now we can finally get some offence in on Goa."

Kuin thinks for a moment. "We need a lot of firepower... perhaps a-"

Risa sighs. "Behind the Tower, locked in a garage."

Kuin smiles and salutes as she grabs Mio and Mai and runs for it, while you prepare your sword.

"She's got him on his toes," Makoto notes. "But I don't know if she'll be enough to beat him."

As you look to the distance, you can barely keep track of their erratic movements. Too fighters driven by pure rage, slashing at incredibly speeds, blow for blow. It's true that you'll need to follow-up if you want the decisive victory.

Alice pauses for a moment before snapping her fingers. "Oh, I know just the thing! Just wait..."

Alice stands at the ready, as you continue to watch the enraged Nariko duke it out with Goa. They two keep clashing blades as you wait for Alice to lay her trap.

"Uhh... are you going to-"

"Patience!" Alice wags her finger. "Aaaaaaaaaaand... now!"

Alice waves her hands and a portal opens behind Nariko as she dodges back from and attack, falling through it before it quickly closes over. Goa looks confused for a moment, before Alice waves her hands again, as a new portal opens up. A very large one. Above Goa's head.

And through it... falls a tank.

Goa only has time to look above him before the massive tank comes crashing down on his head, crushing him underneath. The tank hatch opens up and Kuin's head pops out. "Woooooow!" she exclaims, throwing her hands into the air. "That was so fun! Wait... I didn't get the tank started yet... hey, what just happened?!"

"I feel sick..." Mio mumbles, putting her hand over her mouth and clutching her stomach as she pops out as well.

"Well... that's one way to take care of things..." you note.

"And exhausting," a woozy Alice remarks. "I think I'll take a little nap now..."

As Alice lies down on the grass, Anri still holds her gun at the ready. "Goa may be taken care of, but we still have another big problem on our hands."

"What's that?"

"Nariko."

You look, and see Nariko still raging around the courtyard after being pulled away from the fight, destroying everything in her sight in her anger.

Amaya nods. "We have to calm her down before she ends up doing something awful beyond her control..."

"You're right," you reply. "Someone come with me to take care of this. Sae?"

"M-me?!" she mutters.

"You're a good grappler, you can restrain her," you point out.

Sae is uncharacteristically nervous as her eyes dart away from you. That's right... after a fight a while back, Sae's been terrified of Nariko. "W-well, I... you know.. it's..."

"W-who are you calling a coward?!" Sae exclaims, shaking her fist. "Damn you... fine, I'll do it!"

Sae storms ahead, shoving you to the side as she rushes up to Nariko. "O-okay senpai, let's-WHOA!"

Sae has to leap to the side to dodge an attack from Nariko, and your classmate quickly backs off. "O-okay Nariko-senpai, calm down... i-it's me, your cuddly friendly... ah screw it."

As Nariko lunges, Sae tackles her in mid-air, knocking her daggers out of her hands and turning this into a grapple fight. Sae pins Nariko down, but with the strength of her rage mode, Nariko is easily able to turn the tide, tossing Sae over and grabbing her arm.

"S-senpai-AAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Sae screams, as Nariko appears to cleanly break her arm.

"Sae, why'd you rush in like that?!" you exclaim as you rush to assist her, but Nariko swats you away. Pinning the broken Sae down, the rage-induced Nariko reaches for a dagger and holds it over Sae's face, ready to drive it down. Sae begins to sob in fear, closing her eyes as she awaits the inevitable, as Nariko drives the dagger down... only to stop just in time.

The wild eyes begin to dissipate, as seeing a helpless Sae manages to pull Nariko to her senses right before she would have done something... horrible. Sae looks up at Nariko, who is in stunned shock. She looks to the dagger, then to Sae. "N-no..." she mutters to herself, her voice cracking up. "I... I wasn't."

Nariko collapses back and begins to sob, completely distraught at the action she almost performed, as Sae tries to comfort her. "It's okay... you didn't do it, senpai..."

Damn... but at least she's back to her senses.

"Welp, time to head on to the mansion!" Kuin exclaims. "We're almost finished!"

"So..." Risa mutters. "It's just going through my father and... and these people will be free."

"And you'll be free," Gado smiles to her, and Risa smiles back.

"KUIN, GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Gado exclaims, as you see dozens of visible slashes cut through the tank, before the vehicle explodes and collapses into pieces. From the wreckage steps out a singed and bloody Goa, with the wild insanity in his eyes more prevalent than ever. He spots Kuin in his sights and instantly charges, as Gado charges to save her. Gado leaps and grabs Kuin and pulls her to safety, but not before being slashed across the knee, causing him to crumple upon his landing.

"You think that's enough?!" Goa announces with a growl. He's like an animal. "I'm the legendary death-bringer! Colonel Goa! I'm goddamn invincible!"

Chuichi stands by your side. "Kaz... I'm starting to get reeeeeeeaaaal nervous about this guy."

"Broken peace, Broken peace, Broken peace..." Kaiya mutters as she steps up to the plate. "Coming, must avoid."

"W-what was that you said...?" Sora mutters, still in a prone position, healing up his previous injuries.

"Burn him up, I'll do it," Kaiya warns. "Don't like him. Too much death, so many deaths... how can he kill so many? Nooooo..."

She must be sensing all of the lives Goa has taken in the past, and that's seriously messing with her head. How many people has he killed in the past? You wonder...

“Sora, child? What an earth are you doing in here?”

Sora looks up as he sits cross-legged in the classroom of Yuji-senpai, the Dakugeto history teacher with a penchant for magic. Before him are several of his scrolls and text laid out, Sora's eyes casually gleaming over the pages. Yuji approaches him a concerned look on his face.

“I understand,” Yuji replies. “You recently lost your classmate Maya. I know... it's never easy, I forgive you for wanting to find a spot to hide away for the time being.”

Sora shakes his head. “I apologise, senpai. I'm not hiding away, simply studying.”

“Studying, you say?” Yuji notes. “Interested in the history of the village or attempting to pick up some magic? I'll warn you, magic is incredibly difficult, even for someone awakened.”

“It's okay,” Sora nods. “I just found a particular spell that I'm curious about.”

“And what might that... be...” Yuji trails off as his eyes glance the scrolls Sora is reading. He darts down and grabs them from the floor, holding them close in his arms. “Sora... no.”

Sora looks puzzled. “Is there a problem. It just seemed interesting, that spell. And such an odd name... Broken Peace.”

Yuji's eyes widen as he lays out his books on his desk and takes a puff from his hookah pipe. “Sora, I would hope a responsible student like you would be more sensible than to attempt learning something like that.”

“It just seemed from my reading that the spell was quite powerful-”

“And with power comes sacrifice,” Yuji points out. “The cost for that one is great. I'm sure you read it. Most power draws on your energy, but a power like that... takes the sacrifice of life. Anyone who would attempt it would die.”

“I am aware,” Sora explains. “That detail is what made it quite the interesting read.”

Yuji looks to Sora and shakes his head. “Against the might of the Darkworld... I know it can be tempting to go all out and push forward as much as you can to protect others... but sacrificing your own life is not the answer. Sora, my child, promise me you will not attempt to learn a spell like this.”

“I promise,” Sora replies, as Yuji breathes a sigh of relief.

“Good... good... you're free to stay here and read, though it is lunchtime, so I'd recommend you get a bite to eat. There is an incursion tonight, after all.”

Sora nods and exits the classroom, casually strolling towards the courtyard.

Of course, Sora had lied to Yuji-senpai.

Sora had learned the spell weeks ago.

Chuichi nods, as he steps forwards and takes a deep breath. "Okay... stay calm... he's just a murderous unbeatable monster about to charge... you can handle this."

"Yeah... you can," you assure him. "I believe in you, pal."

Chuichi looks to you and gives a heartfelt smile. "Thanks pal."

He turns back and places out his hand towards Goa. "Okay... SCATTER SHOT!"

Hundreds of strings spring out from Chuichi's body, all extensions of his own body, as they tail in on Colonel Goa. He slices and dices, knocking several of them aside with his rapid fury, but isn't able to keep up with all of them. Eventually, Chuichi manages to wrap one around his leg and pin him in place. "Yes!"

With more effort, Chuichi manages to constrain the other leg. Followed by his arms, and eventually coiling up his entire body and poking through him like pins, keeping the general in place.

"You guys might want to hurry up in taking him out..." Chuichi notes. "I've hit my limit on how much I can produce and... it's taking a lot out of me to keep them steady... he's really struggling in there..."

You've seen this sight from Kaiya before. With her arms lighting up with flames, she stares death into Colonel Goa. "BURN TO CINDERS!" She screams. "DEATH TAKE YOU!"

"W-what?!" he yells. "You can't do this to me! I'm Colonel Goa! I'm invincible! I'm... I'M..."

"I'm losing grip!" Chuichi exclaims. "NOW, KAIYA!"

"BLAZING TORNADO!" Kaiya screams, as she unleashes her full power. The rest of the group have to clear back, as Kaiya's ultimate attack takes a scorched earth approach to the battle, summoning up a massive pillar of flames that traps Goa from within.

His screams as he tries to escape the tornado are bloodcurdling, as you watch as the bloodthirsty Colonel's skin being burnt off, his flesh bubbling to nothing, as his bones and his skeleton soon follow, leaving behind nothing more than a trail of dust.

Chuichi looks back at Kaiya, who smiles proudly as she fades away just like she did at New Year's. She put all of her life into that attack... she'll be revived back at the academy by her brother but it's still a difficult sight to watch.

"Good job Kaiya..." Chuichi smiles as he approaches her. "I... guess we'll see you back at the academy with your brother..."

"Meat boy..." Kaiya mutters, as her body fades away. "Hope the next me can remember..."

"Remember?" Chuichi pauses, as Kaiya fades away. "Hey!"

With Kaiya and Goa both gone, you collapse with heavy breathing. "Wow... we did it."

"That was probably the scariest moment of my life..." Kuin mumbles. "He's really gone."

"Yeah..." Ninsei replies. "Shame I couldn't take that monster out myself... Sora?"

Ninsei reaches out his hand, prepared to help Sora to his feet. A rare display of kinship from brother to brother. Sora beams with a smile as he takes Ninsei hand and is helped to his feet. "I am truly glad that the world is free of him..." Sora nods.

"No."

... What? You turn your head, as you spot Alice looking concerned. "Alice?" you drag out with a concerned tone. "What do you mean, no? We dropped a tank on his head. We burned him alive. I just saw him turn to dust. He's dead, isn't he?"

"Yes... maybe... kinda..." Alice explains in her usual erratic way. "He is and he isn't. You see... while we were fighting, Dreamer gave me that tingly feeling she does when there's another one like me. At first, I got the sense from inside the mansion-"

"Inside?" Risa mutters. "She's talking about an Archdemon... oh god, my father made a deal, didn't he? My father became one with an Archdemon..."

You grab Alice by the shoulders in a panic. "Alice! Focus and give a straight answer. Is there an Archdemon other than yourself and Omitsu here?"

"No," Alice explains, though you can't breath a sigh of relief until she continues. "There's two."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_PK2rGn45A&feature=youtu.be

The dust in the aftermath of Kaiya's scorched earth attack begins to blow up in the wind, forming together to make a horrifying skeletal figure. Not even a human skeleton... some kind of hybrid between human and raptor.

"Goa..." Ninsei mutters. "He's..."

"Dreamer says he's hungry," Alice adds. "No, wait... he is The Hunger... right."

An Archdemon... you ready your sword, but The Hunger already launches forward. It can fly, that's terrifying. It dashes past you and stabs you with it's pointed tail. Without warning you fall to a knee... that thing, it's sapping energy from you... it feeds on pain and energy... a perfect mix for a bloodlusted killer like Goa.

"No..." Chuichi mutters in a panic. "We were so close... two Archdemons together? There... there's no way we can beat that."

"Like hell we can't!" Gado yells. "We've got two of our own! I'm not gonna doubt our strength!"

Omitsu nods and powers herself up, readying for the charge. She draws he sword and clashes in mid-air with the former Goa, and she uses her light powers to make up for her lesser speed in keeping him at bay. She blasts him back with a beam of light, but he appears behind her, catching her in the shoulder with his tail before smacking her down. Omitsu lands on her feet, and sends out another ray of light... but it clearly does less damage to The Hunger, as that shot from Goa has begun to sap her energy... which leaves the rest of you on a strict time limit on how to deal with him.

"Dammit..." Ninsei mutters. "Why can't I be stronger..."

"You are strong!" Tami protests. "I'll try to knock that damn bird out of the sky!"

Tami fires an arrow from her bow into the air, which gets a critical strike on The Hunger... but Goa is made from bone now, leaving him pretty much impervious to any kind of piercing attack. He screeches and begins to fly towards Tami to pluck her from above, but is quickly intercepted by Omitsu, who keeps him busy for some time longer.

"There has to be something..." you mutter. "I know we're all softened up, but surely someone has one last trick up their sleeve?"

Sora sits cross-legged, meditating.

"Senpai!" you call out. "You can't just sit there! You must have a plan, you've got way more experience than us."

"I am trying seek the answer I require," Sora explains.

"Bullshit!" Ninsei lashes out. "Time and again, you do this! You're just afraid! You're a coward who just wants to hide away and never have to fight! Why don't you just die, then?"

"Ninsei!" Makoto tries to calm him down.

"No, I mean it!" Ninsei fires back, completely losing his cool. "Every time... you promised you'd be at my side, but even now! Even now you won't help! I... I hate you!"

"That's enough!" Makoto barks in a commanding tone. "No bickering while we come up with an answer!"

"... The security system," Risa mutters.

"Huh?"

"Kats must have turned it off to get to me, but this courtyard has a built in security system. The switch are by that statue over there in a hidden panel. If we lure that thing into position and trigger it... it'll be bye-bye birdie."

"Good plan..." you note. "One problem. One of us will have to lure him out. Who's gonna play bait?"

Ninsei quickly raises his hand. "I'm the least injured out of all of us. I'll be the only on to get in and out of position on time."

"No," Makoto shakes his head. "I'm leader, it should be on me to take up that responsibility."

"You've been at the forefront, fighting," Ninsei points out. "You even made Amaya prioritise healing others before you. I'm in better condition to pull it off."

"Okay, let's do it!" Kuin and Mio rush to the end of the courtyard with the switches for the security system, while Ninsei rushes out to the centre. He looks off into the distance for The Hunger, who has pinned down Omitsu, digging a claw into her shoulder.

"Hey!" Ninsei calls out with his dagger at the ready, distracting The Hunger from causing any further harm to Omitsu. "Colonel Goa! When I was just a child, you let me escape a village you ravaged to the ground. You killed my parents, but you made the mistake of not finishing the job with me! If you're so damn hungry, come on! Finish me off! I've been waiting to kill you for years!"

The Hunger looks to Ninsei and flies up into the air, readying a dive bomb attack. Ninsei has a smirk on his face as he prepares for The Hunger to enter the trap... until Goa opens his peak, and spits a strang gooey projectile across the courtyard... splattering on the statue with the control panel.

"What is this?!" Mio panics. "I... I can't move it away! It's blocking the controls! Ninsei!"

Ninsei doesn't have time to react in shock, when The Hunger comes dive bombing down towards him, ready to slice him with his skeletal wing. Inches away from Ninsei, he lets out a deafening skraw... and proceeds to get cracked in the face with a hard swing of a staff.

The Hunger falls back, as Ninsei's brother stands before him with a smile.

"Sora... you..."

"I would suggest you stay far away from my little brother," Sora states in a commanding tone, his voice far different from anything you've heard before. "I will kill you, if I have to."

The Hunger picks itself back up, as a human voice, a distorted version of Goa's voice comes through. "It really is you... the boy from that night. You fled to the monastery..."

"You knew?" Sora asks.

"We sacked it... months back..." The Hunger explains through clicks and squawks. "All massacred... no home for you to go back to..."

Sora closes his eyes, as he grips his staff tighter. "Ninsei... I know I wasn't the brother I should have been for you... and I'm sorry. But you've grown into a fine person, a greater man than me... and I believe in you. I trust you to know the way from here. You don't need to be carried on my back anymore."

Tears fill Sora and Ninsei's eyes, as the younger brother looks on confused. "What are you...?"

Sora gives a small smile as he steps forward. "The time has come."

Sora holds out his hand and begins counting down on his fingers from three.

"What are you doing?" Ninsei asks.

"I was truly blessed..." Sora reflects, as he drops to holding two fingers up. "A great school, a great family, great friends... I am truly grateful for all I had."

"Sora...?" Nariko mutters, as Sora drops to one finger.

Sora smiles once more, before wiping a tear away with his free hand. "I love you all... and that's why I will remove this evil from the world."

Sora drops the final finger.

"Broken Peace."

Sora speaks, and he begins to summon up roots from the earth, all around The Hunger.

"What... what is this?!" Goa's distorted voice calls out.

"YOUR JUDGEMENT!" Sora exclaims. "A BLOODTHRISTY WARMONGER LIKE YOU, I CAN'T THINK OF ANYONE BETTER TO USE THIS ON!"

Sora gives a commanding swing of his staff, as the wood forms some kind of tree to encase Goa... but you can see through the cracks in the bark what lies inside the structure. Some strange dark void of infinite expanding space... as The Hunger looks around in a panic, ghostly figures appear from the void.

"Mother, father..." Sora nods. "The elders at the temple, and all the countless you've slaughtered over the years! The broken peaces you have made will come out to seek their retribution!"

"NO!" The Hunger screams. "NO! I WAS JUST... HOKUTO? PLEASE, I HAD TO DO IT! PLEASE, SPARE ME! SPARE ME!"

"DIE TEN THOUSAND DEATHS EACH DAY FOR ETERNITY, MONSTER!" Sora gives one last command, as you see The Hunger reverting back to Goa, having his flesh ripped apart by the apparitions as the tree closes up and begins to sink back into the earth from where it came, dragging Goa to the depths of hell.

As it closes up, Sora drops to his knees, and Ninsei's face brightens up. "You... you did it! Dammit, and all that sombre talk made me think you walking into your... S-Sora?"

[spoilers]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehJnZnX7mQY[/spoilers]

Sora tilts his head back, as you all see it. Sparkling lights, like little fireflies... Sora's body is beginning to erode and dissipate, casting off into the wind.

"SORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Ninsei rushes to his brothers side, and Nariko does the same. He reaches out and clutches Sora's arm. "What did you do?!"

"My time has come..." Sora smiles. "I am truly glad that I could protect you one last time... but you don't need me anymore."

"No!" Ninsei cries, tears shedding down his cheek. "No... I can't let your last memory of me being me saying I hate you! I can't!"

"I still have some time," Sora smiles.

"I love you!" Ninsei blurts out. "You're my brother! I love you more than anything, you're all the family I have... so... so please don't go!"

Sora reaches out, hoping to place his hand on Ninsei's cheek, but his hand is already gone. "I'm not leaving you, Ninsei. I will always be with you, by your side. You know this."

Ninsei begins to sob as he holds his brother close. "I know... I know."

"Sora, you can't...!" Nariko cries as well. "What will I do without-"

"Remember my words," Sora assures her. "You have your own strength. I'm not needed anymore... but that doesn't mean I won't be right behind you. I have always had faith in you, Nariko."

As Ninsei and Nariko weep, Sora looks back to the sky in his final moments. "I think of it all... Ryoji, Ken, Saki, Nariko... all of them. I've been blessed with great friends, and the most wonderful little brother. I even found the best shade to sit in, every time. What more inner peace could you ask for?"

With that, Sora closes his eyes, as he is taken away. Fireflies in the wind, fading into nothing and everything at once.

Ryoji... did you feel that?

“Shida!” Akihito cracks down on his desk. “What are you doing standing in the middle of class. Do you have something to say?”

Ryoji stares straight ahead, breathing heavily as he does. He shakes it off, before looking to his teacher. “Huh?”

“He looks like he had a bad dream,” Miss Yamada remarks.

“He shouldn't be sleeping in class,” Akihito notes. “And... Ryoji, are you alright?”

“Why?”

“Your eyes are kind leaking, man...” Ken remarks in a concerned voice, looking behind him.

Ryoji's hand darts up as he wipes away tears he didn't realise was there. “Uhh... ignore me, just got a weird feeling, that's all...”

Ryoji sits back down, as Akio in the chair next to him looks on. “Hey... you okay?”

Ryoji looks past Akio, at the empty chair to his left. “It's... nothing. I think.”

>Back to the group

Ninsei and Nariko lean on each-other for support, sobbing their hearts out, as the rest of you look on with great sympathy.

"He... he's really gone..." Risa mutters. "He sacrificed himself to save us... Sora-senpai."

>He's not gone. He's right behind us... like he said.

Risa gives a small, hopeful smile. "Right... right behind us. Like he said. Not much further now... and Sora-senpai's gonna see us through to the end."

Risa walks over to Ninsei and places as hand on his shoulder. He was never receptive to her considering her father, but in this moment, he doesn't hesitate to turn around and hug her tight, crying into her shoulder. Tami walks up in turns, and comforts Ninsei as well, holding her boyfriend tight.

While it came at a great cost, Colonel Goa is now gone. Leaving only General Aoki. This long arduous journey is closing in on its final chapter. You just need to step inside the mansion.

>Inside the mansion

“Dammit!”

Katsuyori falls back after another slash across his midsection from Aoki, after another shot failed to take him out for good. Down to three now.

“I must commend you,” Aoki remarks.

“Huh?” Kats mutters, pacing back as Aoki continues to stalk him.

“You're correct in think I was initially toying with you,” Aoki notes. “But my last two attacks were with full intent to kill, yet somehow you've managed to avoid your doom. That has never happened before.”

“I'm honoured,” Kats replies. “Maybe you can answer my question from before in gratitude... why'd you pull Risa out of that school?”

“I was told to,” Aoki explains. “From... a visitor.”

Kats raises an eyebrow. “A what?!”

“An invisible visitor,” he explains. “Spoke to me, told me of a great threat... and gave me the power to control it.”

“Wait, that sounds like... you didn't...” Kats mutters. “You really accepted one of those Archdemon things?”

“Hm?” Aoki tilts his head. “Is that what you refer to them as?”

“Yeah!” Kats yells. “They're the whole thing they fight over at that school! Obviously you know that, it's all over the news! Risa was helping fight those things! Why would you have a problem with that?”

Aoki shakes his head. “I cannot trust some foreign power to quell back those forces. It is on me to take on that responsibility, as I do here.”

“As you do... here?” Kats mutters. “Hang on... don't tell me what I think you're saying?”

“We have spoken enough,” Aoki mutters, before lunging once more at full speed. He slashes Kats badly, as blood spurts from the young mercenary, Kats collapsing onto the floor, lying prone. In that time, Kats let off a shot, but it seems to have missed. Like his third shot, the bullets trajectory doesn't even bounce back to hit Aoki, who stands triumphantly over him.

“Two shots left,” he presses his boot onto Kats' chest, adding pressure to spurt out blood from his side like he was a tube of paste. “And you only managed to graze me once. I knew it was a bluff all along.”

“You got me!” Kats laughs through a pained groan. “Well... can you at least allow a man some last words?”

“I will allow that.”

“Go fuck yourself.”

Kats never missed. His target was never Aoki anyway, it was the giant stainglass mural hanging above his throne suspended by rope. One shot took out the top left rope and the other shot the top right rope, sending the mural into a free-fall curved swing through the room, horizontally facing. Before Aoki can even find the time to react, the glass slices clean through his midsection before passing through and smashing on collission to the wall. His eyes wide in sudden shock, the general freezes... before his top half fall to the ground, a brutal bisection.

Kats picks himself up from the safety of the ground, still clutching his side. “Two shots left, but you're already dead. Consider this me quitting, General.”

With that, Kats turns around, ready to move. “Gonna be honest...” Kats mumbles to himself. “Did not expect to survive. Now, back to the others... hope Goa didn't kill them.”

“Not. So. Fast.”

… No way.

Kats swings his head around. He must have just heard his voice, there's no way he could have survived that...

… But no, moving of his own accord, re-attaching himself, with a strange black aura emanating from him. He... he's truly not human anymore, is he?

“General...?” Kats mutters, as he clutches his gun tighter than ever.

“No,” Aoki mutters, adjusting his now bloodied gloves. “You quit, correct. You may address me as... The Crusader.”

Ah... hell.

So, after 89 episodes and almost three years, we say farewell to one of our OG DGA mainstays. I've grown quite attached to most of the DGA cast after all this time, so this thread was difficult yet rewarding to write. So... what were your thoughts on Sora?

Honestly I've always super respected pacifist characters, even if I wasn't hot on his largely emotionless facade, but no one can deny he went out like a fucking bad ass
>>
>>3302971
Sora was never all that exciting a presence, and he certainly didn't really have an edge to him, which I think lead to him being fairly underappreciated overall as a character. However, he was always a good background presence, and I wish we'd chosen to spend a bit more time with him in retrospect.

At the end of the day though, he went out in the best possible way, I think pretty much everyone would agree.
>>
>>3302971
Thanks for running Booker.

>PQ
Who's Sora?

But seriously, I'll admit I was mostly neutral to Sora since he never really did anything during the quest bar meditating with Nariko and the hospital scene when he lost his eye. So this is probably the best way for him to go, gets a badass moment and leaves instead of just becoming part of the background again, plus it's got potential to make Nariko's and Ninsei's future arcs a bit more interesting as they deal with the fallout from his death.
>>
>>3302971
Pacifists has always been annoying in my book, but Sora managing to push his pacifism out of his way was great.
Kaz will summon a giant robot, cap this right now
