/qst/ - Quests

The choice is easy enough to make, and soon you’re laying in the middle of several hundred bags of lettuce bound for the city of Huntington, New York. You have to stuff your belongings pretty deep and laboriously bury yourself into the produce, but a lazy railway employee’s cursory glance misses you completely and from there, you’re home free. At twenty-three miles per hour, it should take you roughly four days to arrive, plenty of time to further hone your physique and develop the use of your superpowers.

The first day though, you decide you’ll take it easy and skip out on your squats and sprints, because you’ve killed no less than twenty-six filthy gaijin in the last week and have earned your rest. However, aside from a can’s worth of warm mountain dew you don’t touch the junk food you’ve stored, since a true ninja warrior maintains a strict regimen and you are no different. You do not lay idle, either, as you train throwing kunai without relying on your inner force to guide you for several hours and show slight improvement.

> +3 Throwing [6/10]
> +1 Dexterity [19/20]
> +2 Willpower [2/40]

Nearly six hours after you began flinging knives, boredom sets in and you decide to improve your shadow manipulation. For hours you enter into a deep trance, summoning a wellspring of darkness around yourself, moving to and fro across the rail-cart, and attempting to merge your body with it, to some success. Nothing about the darkness changes, though, no matter how vigorously you attempt to force to shift in a certain direction or take on a particular shape, and you’re growing increasingly irritated with your failure to progress when sudden clarity strikes like lightning from a blue sky.

Maybe it’s not the darkness, maybe you’ve been going about this all wrong. What if instead of commanding the shadows to move with a stern voice, you showed them where to go with a firm hand? Again, you fall into the trance, but your previous attempt to forcefully demand that the shadows obey is replaced with a firm voice asking them to move, then showing them how, and to your surprise, the lack of light rushes to comply. At this revelation, your understanding widens immeasurably, and your power’s potency is twofold greater than it once was.

Where previously, you struggled to spread the shadows beyond fifteen yards the range is now doubled, and you are able to part their presence in myriad ways, manifesting ten yards of darkness within that radius however you please. Their shape has changed as well, no longer does it need to be a sphere, more shapes are possible, though a misty fog comes easiest, a monolithic wall or even tendrils can be achieved, and you find to your unending pleasure, that if you focus, the darkness shifts from a vague presence to a tangible weight, with raw force and deft precision to back it.

> (1/2)
>>
>>3299177

You find that when the shadows take form, their strength and toughness varies, depending on how many there already are, how close they are to you, and your own physical form. This varies all the way from moist cardboard to dense concrete, but a single tendril or sturdy wall can approach iron or even surpass steel. Of course, they’re vulnerable to light all the same, but solid shadows can tolerate its presence much longer and will certainly serve you well in combat situations, both day and night.

This power is nowhere near full potential, and at the moment you can only manage half a dozen tendrils or three walls at a time but it’s quite impressive regardless. Even better, your ability to meld with the darkness has grown, when you’re immersed in the shadows your skin is pale yet dark, cold to the touch, and distressingly hazy to the sight. It is a massive improvement over the last few days, to say the least.

> Stranger, Shadow Melding: 2, Level Up! Stranger, Shadow Melding: 3!
> Shaker, Shadow Summoning: 3, Level Up! Shaker, Shadow Summoning: 6!
> +2 Willpower, [4/40]

With the help of the darkness hugging you like a blanket, you sleep like a baby, and awaken refreshed and ready for whatever the day has to throw at you.

Before you even consider any kind of breakfast, blade summoning, or idle daydreaming, you get to work on the rudimentary squats, push-ups, and sprints routine you established on the last train-ride. It’s sweaty, uncomfortable, and surely an unsavory unspeakably sexy sight but you persist in spite because you know that every day you sweat is one day closer to achieving your dream of being a truly honorable Ronin warrior.

> +3 Strength [8/10]
> +1 Endurance [5/10]
> +2 Willpower [8/40]

After you become much too exhausted to move, you resume yesterday’s throwing exercises and while the kunai are no closer to their mark, you’re pleased to note a significant (if slight) improvement in your baseline manual dexterity. When that’s through you decide to focus your superpowers training on better melding with the shadows and fine-tuning your gravity redirection, but aside from hilariously impossible Assassin’s Creed-tier visuals, you ascertain no tangible difference in the way you use your abilities.

> +1 Parkour [3/5]
> +1 Throwing [7/10]
> +4 Dexterity, [23/20], Level Up! Dexterity: 4 [3/40]

After your one healthy meal and half a chugged gallon of water of the day, you fall into a sweaty slumber atop the thinly wrapped commercial grocery lettuce.

You can do that at anytime you please, but remember, you're not bound for New York City, New York, you're bound for Huntington, New York, which is a large town of over 200,000 people but nowhere near as large as its nearby neighbor.

>>3299659
I wish I could say yes, but I don't want to incur the wrath of the RNG anymore than I have anon.

>>3299695
They don't think it be that way, but it do.

>>3299744
Less than you would think, because while you have a near-instant reaction time, can render your opponent's bones as light as a chicken's, and wield several decades of martial arts tutelage beneath the finest masters, there is little you can do to those with strong durability/regeneration, and you're quite fragile, assuming someone could, by some miracle, manage to actually hit you.

>>3299753
That's a bit of a roundabout way to go about setting up a sound-proofed range, but I certainly don't judge. Remember, dry-firing and improving Shadow Melding are always valid options to pursue.

Exercise,Train throwing, train shadow melding and gravity redirection

>>3299770
>>3299757
Do a little research with a smart phone on how a gun suppressor works, then try to mimic it with some Shadow Summoning.

Read up on computers and learn how to improve your own computer.

Look up the location for a Chinatown in New York and see if there are any shops there we could go stealth shopping to improve our overall hero costume and get a replacement dragon knife.

Improve Shadow Summoning / Melding.

That's about it.

When that’s finished and you’re drenched with sweat, you summon a kunai, briefly consider, then dismiss it with a thought. As cool as it was to begin with you’re starting to get a bit tired of endlessly throwing blades, and a bit interested in the art of gun-kata, as written in some of your favorite Naruto fanfictions. Making sure to *carefully* unload the most worn-out looking AK-47, you spend half an hour reverse-engineering the basic functions of the weapon, then another three and a half firing it from a variety of positions, prone, kneeling, standing, and multiple times, mid-air at plethora of stationary and moving shadow targets, without actually shooting any bullets to avoid alarm. Dry-firing is definitely fun and you’ve taught yourself a lot, but you feel soon you’ll reach a point you can’t learn much more without live-fire.

> +4 Rifle [6/5], Level Up! Rifle: 1 [1/10]
> +4 Dexterity [23/20], Level Up! Dexterity: 4 [3/40]

After that you try your hand at maintaining more solid shadows at once, but your efforts yield no serious results. Much better are your endeavors to improve your gravity redirection capacities, where previously, you could only shift your gravitational orientation as it relates to your entire body, you’ve discovered how to focus the entirety of the earth’s gravitational influence on you in a single limb, immeasurably improving your balance and allowing you to attempt handstands, wall flips, and assorted parlour tricks much, much easier. In addition to the obvious /aesthetic/ benefits, you’re almost certain this will be a tremendous asset in both martial arts and parkour.

You awaken, drenched in sweat upon a bed of soggy lettuce, and you know then what you must do. Eschewing even the slightest of physical exercises, you throw yourself, mind, body, and soul into the pursuit of sharpening your already formidable superpowers to a razor’s edge. Hours upon hours of summoning, throwing, and dismissing blades, and attempting almost every martial arts move and combo known to man go by to no avail, as you fail to inflame your inner force in the slightest. The shame is almost unbearable, and when darkness falls you surround yourself with the darkness and rather than embrace it, you allow it to enter your ego, your very soul laid bare.

The sensation is almost completely different from what it was when you tried to force the shadow melding. Rather than trying your best to hide within the darkness, the darkness acknowledges your presence and does its best to hide you. The distinction is subtle but cannot be understated, for so long as you stand in the shadows, even the warmth seems to leave your body, yet your flesh is not chilled, and you do not appear to be human so much as a haze of writhing black fog in the guise of a man.

This new form, not quite a new form but divergent from your original self, is far less visible, its every motion makes far less noise, and if you simply attune your mind you are able to tell who, what, and how many of any unconcealed life-forms are present, along with a default echolocation technique when you speak, though it’s redundant with the night-vision your shadow summoning grants. You feel you are on the cusp of a true transformation, and in time, the hunger for power, not blood though the two often overlap within

> Stranger, 3: Shadow Melding, Level Up! Stranger 5: Shadow Melding!

Not as impressive a routine as you would like, but you ate healthy, lost a marginal amount weight, and discovered a new facet of one of your, if not *the* most used superpower in your arsenal so you’d say today was far from a loss.

Honestly the rate at which we are increasing our super abilities seems a bit too much. I can understand learning to control our abilities better, figuring out better applications, and becoming more efficient. But we’ve turned into a 38 Pp monster from the 26 we started with. In less than a month. That is unheard of. Getting 3-4 points at a time into a power just from some training and meditation is just ridiculous, and if it worked that way then every hero and cape in the world would be in the 20s at a minimum, instead of the scrubs we dropped earlier.

Well think of it this way, we have possibly the best skillset to not be caught by any other supers, and if the fuz does catch us then we are fucked. Plus it's been stated that in universe there's like a dozen more north Korea like states because powerful villains can exponentiate on their power easier than heroes can, what with killing other supers for PP. Thats probably also why vigilantes are targeted as often as villains, and why there are far fewer of them compared to other supers. Precisely because they are a wild card in the established geopolitical climate.

I have to say, I agree, the current growth rate is pretty ridiculous from a lore standpoint and from this point on, I'm going to be slowing your advancement tremendously. I'd like to apologize, I got carried away and the power creep didn't think occur to me until I slept on it and read your post.

In-game, there are three reasons DIE has grown so quickly. 1.) Aside from the Superhuman Reflexes boost that kicked in when he almost murdered an old man, most of what he's done so far is changing the mindset he uses his powers with, i,e he's become far more efficient than flailing out, not much more powerful. 2.) Even if he didn't receive any immediate gain, he executed no less than three supers in hand-to-hand combat and internalized some of the inner force, manifesting sporadic improvements days later. Lastly 3.) The newer a super is, the faster their powers tend to develop, even if this should be more of a 1.5 modifier to the grind, not the "roll 1d3 to accumulate big-dick energy" we've been doing.

From here on out, I'll resume what I've planning to do at the start of the quest and have a hidden threshold for the amount of training necessary to boost a power's Tier, which grows as more time passes and overall your power level increases.

>>3300427
New York is known as the city that never sleeps for a reason, anon.

>>3300435
Heh, there's a thought.

>>3300448
This is also true, to an extent. Not all supers are created equal and by virtue of extraordinary circumstances during their [Awakening] or strength of emotion in the midst of their [Awakening], some are inherently superior to others. You are *NOT* the most powerful super around, and in a random, thousand-super line-up, your lack of a Tier-10 power would be lucky to make the top ten, though you're certainly in the upper thirties. Furthermore, the Federal government is actively hunting you down, and they have resources your chip-shoveling, MLP-clouded mind cannot begin to comprehend. If you stayed in the old man's home another day, I would've rolled 2d6 SWAT teams and 1d3+1 supers with powers that counter the ones you've exhibited for a no-knock raid, because they traced your computer and planned to end it when they thought you'd be sedate on the weekend. Bullshit levels of Hakoge ninja warrior power or no, that is not a fight you're likely to win.

Pretty much what I kind of suspected. Beyond our flip phone it's one of the few things we originally came with. We really need to back up everything important on it onto it's disk drive then take than and....I think that, the RAM and Graphics card are safe? Everything else gotta destroy. Also can't use any of our online accounts. Gotta make new ones.

Immediately after waking you throw yourself into the task of making up for lost time, doing dozens laborious, sweaty, and nearly-painful push-ups, pull-ups, and squats for most of the morning. When you finish you’re absolutely pouring with sweat and pity the person to purchase the lettuce but your routine is nowhere close to complete. You intend to become strong, not only in mind and body, but also the soul, and the superpowers you’ve been given. For several hours you summon and dismiss countless blades, struggling to manifest more than your current limit, and put your weight reduction to the test, flabby arms lifting thousand pound crates as if they weighed twenty. For someone that didn’t have your skill it would be an impressive sight, but to you it’s nothing but the baseline average you’re accustomed to.

> +3 Strength [6/20]
> +3 Endurance [4/20]
> +2 Willpower [14/40]

The lack of tangible improvement is disheartening, but you are used to failure and know that your waifu watches over you, so dejection holds no sway. Turning away from your more abstract and metaphysical abilities, you decide to actively train your martial artistry for once, summon a tangible shadow in the vague form of a punching bag, allow the inner force to takeover and swing, expecting to be rebuffed by the concrete toughness but to your surprise, shatter it with a single blow. Again you summon and again you swing, this time flipping backward and catching its top with a side-kick, bouncing the structure, and as you land you expertly throw your entire weight and momentum into a devastating palm strike, which all but disintegrates the structure. It’s obvious that you’re subconsciously wielding your superhuman reflexes and weight reduction in conjunction with the martial art, but those aren’t what you’re attempting to train.

Ruffling your brow in focus, you consciously suppress each of your superpowers, save the martial skill and the shadows, then lunge blind into the darkness. Sensing your hostile intent, the shadows beneath your self-hating subconscious retaliate in kind, swinging tendrils with intent to trip your legs and shatter your spine. Active thought leaves your mind as you raise your fists and strike, dodging, weaving, and evading each blow as if it were swung by a drunken child, and each motion you make is sufficient to kill or cripple twice your number. The trance is spiritually extent, physically present, and not to be denied. A dozen minutes you stride in the maelstrom of your making, combating the unseen limbs as they attack, anticipating which shadowy strike would be most effective against you, then retaliating in kind.

> (1/3)
>>
>>3301298

You know yourself and the darkness well, and for over an hour you do battle, until your knuckles are worn raw, your knees are bruised, and your elbows can barely bend yet the shadows still surround you, enveloping your physique like a maw of jagged teeth. It has the advantage, with as many as six limbs it may swing at its leisure yet cannot be struck. If this continues it is only a matter of time before your end is met, but the determination of a Hakoge ninja warrior is not to be denied, and if there is a foe, you will slay it. For the briefest of moments, you stand still, the darkness rushes rend you limb from limb, yet you shout your denial, bringing the inner force within to fill your hands and strike. Blazing with an otherworldly presence, your clenched fists fly forth with rapidity so swift as to be imperceptible to the human eye and as you land your blows, the black hisses as its very essence boils, shadows rippling, and beneath the weight of your onslaught fading, being beaten back, bit by furious bit.

Eventually the shadows realize there is no victory to had without great cost, and the malice fades from the black within the rail-cart. Still shuddering with the power you’ve brought to bare, you succumb to fatigue and slump against a lettuce container. What you did earlier... was not physically possible, but bringing the essence deep inside to the light in the form of the warrior’s way feels more right than anything you’ve ever done. Only three things are evident, 1.) You’ve reached the apex of what can be achieved with skill alone, 2.) Through focus, you’ve learned to imbue your limbs with the same sort of essence from which you summon blades to hasten your speed and expound your force, and 3.) Everything up to this point has been a game, but that? *THAT* was HAKOGE POWAAAH!

> Thinker: Superhuman Martial Arts: 4, Level Up! Superhuman Martial Arts: 6!
> +4 Willpower, [16/40]

> (2/3)
>>
>>3301298
>>3301304

Almost twenty minutes go by whilst you rest then a sudden sense of paranoia grips you, so you gather everything you own and dive out of the train, smack-dab in the middle of the state of Tennessee. You’re not quite sure what just possessed you to do that, but you’re feeling a bit uneasy all the same.

Eager to avoid being seen, you sling the assorted bags over your shoulders and sprint into the woods. You have no idea what you’re doing or where you’re going, but you know that you desperately need to be somewhere, and so somewhere you go. Twenty minutes you run through the woods, over the hills and through the thicket, beginning to think that momentary impulse to run was a momentary tangent that might’ve cost you days, if not weeks on-foot travel for nothing when you hear a cry of alarm, angry cursing, and the familiar sound of solid wood thudding on warm flesh.

“Yun’s done made a mistake comin’ down here, city boy…” A pleading, frantic cry can be heard. “I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING, JUST A FLAT TIRE AND-” *WHACK* The second voice whimpers in pain as a third interjects. “Ran over my cousin’s dog, fuckin’ around in the backroads where your faggot-ass don’t belong, then got the gall to fuckin’ ask me for a spare tire?” Whoever the two are beating starts begging for clemency, “P-please, I didn’t know it was your dog. H-here, let me get out a-” *WHACK* “YE SHUT YER BRIGGITY ASS!” *WHACK* “DON’T WANT NUNNA YER-” *WHACK* “FAGGOT” *WHACK* “FUCKIN’” *WHACK* “PAPER BILLS! That dog was fuckin’ everythin’ to me, last piece of my grandaddy I have, n’ ye jus’ kill him? Ye jus’ think yer gonna PAY ME-” *WHACK* “To leave offa yer faggot-as?”

“I-I’m warning you, my cousin’s a lawyer. When he hears of this, he’ll-” *WHACK* “Don’t give a rat’s ass ‘bout yer cousin or much shitcha got in yer wallet faggot. Hear that? ‘at’s the sound of me not givin’ a fuck.” *WHACK* “I d-don’t wanna die…” *WHACK* “SHOULDN’T’VE RAN OVER THE DAMN DOG!” The original speaker continues. “Yun’s gon’ die here city boy, n’ yer body ain’t never gon’ be found. JETHRO.” The third voice replies. “Yes sir?” “Get the poker n’ some kindlin’, I got half a mind to make it hurt.” Their victim begins wailing, “LET ME GO, PLEASE, LET ME GO! SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, HELP!”

*WHACK* “Shut yer mouth.” You think you’ve heard enough, and you peer out into the clearing the noise is coming from. Two large men in overalls, one in his sixties, the other in his early twenties, are busy beating a scrawny man in a dirty but well-made suit within an inch of his life with makeshift clubs, while a third in hunter’s camouflage is heading to a run-down trailer with murder in his eyes. The situation is going to get much worse before it gets better, one way or another if you don’t intervene.

I know they ain’t gonna take us seriously, but give them a chance to stop with the attempted murder and fuck off. If they refuse, so be it...
>>
>>3301493
Grab the guy and run. Don't hurt the rednecks tho:they're well within their rights to do as they did.
>>
>>3301503
Legally? No. Beating a man to death for killing a pet is not okay.

Morally? You bet your fucking ass it is.
>>
>>3301493
>That dog was fuckin’ everythin’ to me, last piece of my grandaddy I have, n’ ye jus’ kill him? Ye jus’ think yer gonna PAY ME-” *WHACK* “To leave offa yer faggot-as?”
My feels goes out to the guy who lost his pet dog. Fucker was probably distracted with his phone and didn't have the sense to drive carefully.
We need to convince these strapping gents that killing this guy isn't going to bring back his good boy. Killing this man will only leave them bitter.
>>
>>3301489
>Hail gaijin. I see that thou art rightfully punishing this foul merchant who smoted thou’st most noble of puppers. But do pray tell, mine fellow country folk, what would’st happen to thine family farm if his city slicker lawyer brother were to find out? I believe’st thine best course of action to be to let this vile knave live, upon the condition that he pay for a funeral and headstone for the most noble of slain puppers. For all men must know of the noble visage and pride of thou family doge. Forsooth, good gentlemens, stay your hand and let this fool live. It would not do for thou to invite federal intrusion upon thineselves for righteously punishing this city catamite. And you, young catamite, you should do thou utmosteth to findeth a suitable doge for the bereaved family, honor the memory of the puppy you most foully murdered, and agree to refrain from reporting this to thy city constabulary and legal barristers. Otherwise, these good yeomen will have’st no choice but to exact vengeance for the murder of slain doge. What sayeth you, catamite? And thou, yeomen farmers?

Basically trying to talk the hillbilly’s out of beating this guy to death, and convincing this guy to not press charges or go to the police. And to have a funeral for the innocent puppy.

Dunno if the hillbillies would be more willing or convinced if we take the guy in the suit away. In fact they'd probably react violently, though if we are going to display our powers then they'll probably back down? I really down't want to go showing our powers around.
>>

True. I guess we just try and talk everyone down instead of physically removing suit guy.

Approach them without showing our powers. But we are definitely wearing our fedora and Kane mask. Kane because chances are the rednecks watch WWE and will see us as a fellow wrasslin aficionado. And the fedora so everyone knows how smart we are and how respectable a gentleman we are.

Changing to this. Too many people are voting to grab the guy and run, which will mean we have to reveal our powers. That’s something we can’t afford to do since we are actively being hunted down by the federal government and super heroes.

Please, for the love of god anons, can we not do anything that will bring the feds down on us. We're stuck in the middle of rural appalachia - this is an opportunity to lay low while the heat dies down. Subtlety is the name of the game right now.

Changing to this. Too many people want to let the dog killer get off without punishment, but I have to support the most popular option that doesn’t involve revealing our fucking powers to everyone we meet.
>>
>>3301757
Then vote for the option to intimidate with guns, because otherwise people are going to have us reveal our powers to an idiot stupid enough to wander through hillbilly territory, and stupid enough to kill their dog from driving and texting or some dumb shit.

What do we think is the best way to end this fight with minimal risk of word getting to law enforcement?

I'm concerned that just trying to intimidate these fuckers with a gun will result in them trying to call our bluff and then us having to defend ourselves with our powers - at least to the extent of pulling off some magical martial arts bullshit that anyone would know our flabby body couldn't do naturally.
Worst thing is that if we wander in like that and try to intimidate them then they have a pretty distinctive description to give the cops - even without our face we cut a pretty unique figure.

Three options spring to mind
>Manifest 4 heavy shadowtendrils and smack everyone involved upside the head. By the time they come to we'll have dashed in, snatched up the unconcious dogmurderer and dropped him off somewhere he can wake up safely.
Hillbillies are unlikely to go to the police and if the cityslicker does then all he has know reason to think a super intervened, for all he knows the hillibillies must've knocked him out in the beating and then chickened out on killing him.
>Manifest darkness around everyone, sprint in, knock them out manually. Maybe don't even bother with knocking out the hillbillies - just roar something about how they shouldn't have threatened to kill us but we'll let them keep their lives if they run know.
If we're fast enough knocking out the cityman then he's in the same position as above - he was being beaten and then it all went dark. We're exposing our powers to the hillbillies a little more but I still think they're unlikely to go to the cops. And if they do then they'll be giving the victims appearance as misinformation anyway.
>Manifest subtle darkness around ourselves and then scare the perps with a hail of gunfire from the shadows. Order them to let the man run for his life. Keep them pinned down until he's safe.
If we do the shadow manifestation right then they have no reason to think a super was involved - it was just a man with a gun who thought they were going too far.

Also - wait until Jethro is back with the tools - want them all close together when we pull whatever move we decide on.
>>
>>3301766
The dog killer is an idiot who would probably immediately run to the cops then his attorney brother. If we voted to simply not intervene, then we wouldn’t have to worry about revealing our powers. We don’t have to save every single idiot we come across. We saved grandma because she was a sweet old lady getting attacked by 6 guys. Sure, we are a Haloge or whatever, but does that mean we have to intervene in every single thing we come across? DIE is smarter than that. But anons aren’t apparently. We’re gonna end up in super villain prison or dead very very quickly if anons keep voting to help every single retard who kills a dog that they meet.
>>
>>3301771
That's why I suggest knocking him out first or intimidating gunfire from a distance.
If he goes to the police them all he can say is ''some hillbillies beat me unconcsious'' or ''some hillbillies were beating me and then some guy with a rifle pinned them down and I ran away''.

In neither case does it seem like any superpower was involved and, depending on how rural we are/how friendly these guys are with the local sheriff, not much is likely to come from any law enforcement investigation.
Certainly nothing that would implicate us or tie it to a series of butcherings half the nation away..
>>
>>3301775
well we already tried to pusade them to not kill him so they have already seen us
>>
>>3301771
DIE is actually kind of an autist and his intelligence is under avrage
>>
>>3301639
> [Intimidate] with firearm
also this, we can use our powers if they try to shoot us, also we need to wait until that other guy gets back with the tools
>>
also what do you guy think about New York, should we stay there or should we keep up the vagabond vigilante life style?
>>
Don't go to new york. It's the one of the largest if not largest city in the US. We would be a small fish in a very big sea there. Up until this point we have mainly gotten by by being obscure and one of the most powerful capes at wherever we are at that point. We go to new york we will be giving up all our advantages.
>>
>>3301860
That's why I want to go there.
>>
>>3301864
We would get overwhelmed to pieces by the number of capes in that city. That's not even mentioning the avenger level hero teams that would be based in such a large US city. Best to stick to small to medium sized city's and build up our power.

You can’t risk revealing your superpowered status to these hillfolk, but at the same time, no matter how much their tragic tale twangs your heartstrings, you can’t stand by as they beat a man to death for an unintentional mistake. One of the two prepares to break his club over the normie’s skull, but stops in his tracks as you emerge from the shadows and shout “HAIL GAIJIN!” Each of the three, beaten normie included stare in shock at the obese neckbeard fierce ninja warrior clad in the mask of Kane.

Realizing you have the upper hand, you raise your palms to signify peace as you continue. “I see that thou art rightfully punishing this foul merchant who smoted thou’st most noble of puppers.” Both pause, furrowing their brows while you continue, heedless of their reactions. “But do pray tell, mine fellow country folk, what would’st happen to thine family farm if his city slicker lawyer brother were to find out?” They turn from the normie and the looks on their faces are incredulous. “I believe’st thine best course of action to be to let this vile knave live, upon the condition that he pay for a funeral and headstone for the most noble of slain puppers. For all men must know of the noble vis-”

> +1 Persuasion [4/10]
> +1 Charisma [3/20]

The older interrupts. “Who the fuck are you?” Improvising, you say, “A k-kindly stranger trying to resolve a difficult situation. A-As I was saying-” His teeth bare in aggression while he snarls. “Don’t know where the fuck yer from, but ‘round here we don’t give FUNERALS to dogs! Bow-wow’s already buried, n’ we’s gonna bury the piece of shit tha’ killed him!” This is beginning to get out of hand, so you stammer out “Forsooth, good gentlemens, stay your hand and let this fool live. It would not do for thou to invite federal intrusion upon thineselves for righteously punish-” You’ve somehow inflamed his rage, and your words fall on deaf ears. “FEDERAL INTRUSION? THA’ SOME KINDA THREAT, FAT-ASS!?!”

“D-don’t be hasty my good sirs, and I-I will refrain from reporting this to thy city constabulary and legal barristers, you see-” Both of the hillfolk are visibly angered and approach with violent intent. You notice the normie’s extremities are bound, and you raise your hands while they grow near. “REPORTIN’ THIS SHIT? COME ONTO MY PROPERTY, INTERFERE WIT’ MY DUE COURSE, THEN THREATEN TO REPORT THA’ SHIT?” The younger one, whose dog was killed seems especially furious. “THESE CITY FAGGOTS KEEP TRYIN’ TO PUSH US ‘ROUND IN THE WHITE HOUSE, THEN THEY COME DOWN HERE, KILL MY DOG, N’ TRY TO THREATEN US WHAT TO DO?!?” The old man butts in, “I’M TIRED OF IT, CLINT! LE’S BREAK THIS FAT-FUCK’S SKULL LIKE AN EGG!”

> (1/2)
>>
>>3302399
Well i Can see we are OFF with a good start
>>
>>3302532

Clint’s growl of assent proves they mean business, and you realize your efforts at reasonable diplomacy were in vain from the start. You will not be intimidated by any gaijin, and reply with a shaky stern voice. ‘If you gaijin won’t accept words of reason, perhaps you will heed cold steel!” Reaching into your trench-coat, you grab one of the pistols and quick-draw it, intent on getting the pair to back down but as you pull the weapon, its trigger snags on your comfortably plump calloused hand, and misfires! *BANG* You attempt to correct your mistake, only to shoot again, barely missing the first one’s forehead! They panic and scatter as Jethro exits the trailer, sees a stranger in a WWE mask firing a pistol at his father and great uncle, then drops the tools and runs back inside.

“HOLY HELL HE’S GOTTA GUN! HE’S GOTTA GUN!” The younger man panics, bolting into the woods but the older man has a firm grasp of the situation, sprinting to the trailer. “CRAZY BASTARD TRYNA SHOOT US, GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE CLINT, IT AIN’T WORTH IT!” On one hand, you’ve wasted two rounds of ammunition and jeopardized the lives of several peasants with your criminal negligence, but on the other, you’ve successfully scared them away from the beleaguered normie, who weeps in mortal terror.

This has gone too far, too fast and if you’re smart, you’ll cut your losses and run, Waving the pistol like a lunatic and resisting the urge to do a double flip, you sprint over to the hysterical normie and smack him in the face as hard as your non-powered hand can swing. To your shock, this actually works and he snaps out of it, then begins to hyperventilate at the sight of the Kane mask. “Wh-who the fuck are you?” Taking on what you think is a menacing tone, you reply, dead-serious. “The man who’s going to get you back to your mommy, safe and sound.” Your words must have touched him, because he is at a loss for words. “Now tell me normie, where is your car?”

“O-okay, okay… It’s on the dirt road about two and a half miles away. I-I crashed about an hour before sunset, and they’ve been beating me ever since!” You pause in contemplation, sunset was nearly four hours ago, then nod. “Do you think you can show me where?” The normie stutters, “O-of course!” Hmm… “You’re clearly not in any position to walk... Methinks I’ll have to carry you.” The normie stops. “W-wait, what?” Before he can react, you’ve slung him over your shoulders and fled into the woods as fast as your legs can carry you.

He begins to scream so you muffle his mouth, and to keep him from panicking or seeing your powers, knock him in the side of the head with a nearby rock. Then the body goes limp and you can flee into the woods without any issues.

> +1 Charisma [4/40]
> +1 Intelligence [4/10]
> +1 Persuasion [5/10]
> +1 First-Aid [5/10]

You vanish into the trees, shrouding yourself in shadow as you sprint to the dirt road the normie referred to. Two and a half miles would’ve been unthinkable half a month ago, but with your superpowers and meh-tier elite training, it is next to nothing. Only ten minutes are needed to find the winding dirt trail, and only ten more to locate the car, a bloodstained, dented white hatchback with the left side half-buried in a ditch. You will be extremely lucky if the only thing it requires is a wheel, the- “THERE HE IS!” Oh no, you spin around to see an ATV ridden by three hillfolk race out of the woods and stop on the dirt path. The vehicle is almost the length of a football field away, and one of them stands, shoulders a bolt-action rifle, and cracks a shot at your head.

If you didn’t have superpowers that might’ve dealt an immediately fatal inconveniencing wound, but your heightened reactions see it coming a mile away. "Swooce." Stumbling to the side of the wreck, you skillfully dodge the bullet while making it appear to be an accident, and you can hear Clint berating the shooter. “HOW THE HELL'DYA MISS HIM?!? FUCKER’S BARELY A HUNDRED YARDS OUT!”

> +1 Dodging [8/10]

The would-be sniper replies, shouting on his own, and you realize it was Jethro. “I DON’T KNOW PA, HE JUS-” The old man interjects, silencing both. “SHUT YER FUCKIN’ WHORE MOUTHS, IF I GOTTA GET CLOSER, I’LL GET CLOSER!” The ATV begins to approach, and you see that Clint is wielding some sort of assault rifle, and the old man isn’t visibly armed but intuition says there may be a pistol in his bib pocket. You have perhaps half a minute before they're in fish-in-a-barrel shooting range.

While it would all but guarantee their rapid defeat, openly wielding your superpowers is asking for rumors to spread, and you aren’t confident enough with your pistol to avoid killing these silly baka gaijin. It seems you’re going to go for a more hands-on approach but as you slide the pistol into its holster, your wrist brushes the handle of a kitchen knife and you realize that you never had any reason to worry. The ATV races at almost twenty miles an hour, they’ll be on you in seconds and they think they’ve caught you in their tracks, but little do they know, they challenge a true Hakoge ninja warrior!

Tossing the unconscious normie into the ditch, you stand in the center of the dirt path and draw your blades. Each of the trio is undeterred by the display and races ahead, with murderous intent to make you move, one way or another. It all happens in an instant, and if it weren’t for your superpowers you would’ve been dead in that moment. Clint clicks the safety on his assault rifle, technically illegally diligently modified to fire full-auto, and a spray of bullets flies to ventilate your flesh. Jethro shoulders his bolt-action, grits his teeth, lines the iron sight to your center mass and pulls the trigger. As the ATV nears your suspicions are proven correct when the old man reaches into his front pocket, whips out a tiny revolver that would vanish in your flab muscle of your hand, and fires in one smooth motion.

Heedless of exposure when your life’s on the line, you move in a blur, effortlessly ducking the dozen-odd rounds that whistle over your head, barrel rolling to the side of the trail the split-second the rifle’s trigger is pulled, and evading the revolver’s shot with an imperceptible shift of the darkness around you. Then the four-wheeler races past and you know it is your time to act. Leaping into the road, you flick both of your hands, and from each a pair of blades fly to bury themselves in the vehicle’s tires, slicing them apart with ease. His vehicle’s stability jeopardized, the old man attempts to break but finds no way to slow the momentum, so he dives out of the accident in motion. Clint falls to one side and scrambles to stand as Jethro simply hops off, and shoulders his rifle again.

Oh. Helpful.
Rolling to see if we left prints on the broken knives used in the Slim Cricket incident.
>>
>>3304237

He doesn’t get a third shot when the projectile cutlery slices his hand open and deflects from his rib-cage, causing him to drop the weapon and curse. Two seconds later, a devastating mercifully pulled punch knocks him from his feet and to the ground, unconscious. The hillbilly with the assault rifle shouts in spite, attempts to shoot but thanks to the application of a shadow tendril behind the trigger finds the rifle is jammed, then throws it to the side and pulls out a knife. He never stood a chance, and as you wipe the thankfully non-lethal gore from the near-comatose would-be killer, you spin to see the old man rushing in a belligerent rage.

The spine-snapping roundhouse is dodged without issue, then the second, and the third, too. His stamina is still running strong, but you don’t want to drag this fight out longer than it has to be so on his next charge, a shadow snags his ankle and sends him crashing to the ground. He’ll deludedly think he tripped on a branch, but the kitchen knife slashing his overall’s holster apart and the sneaker-clad foot kicking him into a dreamless sleep are all too real. The entire exchange took all of twenty seconds, and the moment you’ve verified each of them is unconscious, you whip out the sewing kit Martha lent you ”Jus’ in case there’s an emergency, hun.” and get to work.

Sewing the lacerations shut isn’t that difficult at all, and none of the three have any seriously broken bones. You caused a few deep gashes here and there but you manage to stitch the torn skin together so easily, you don’t even waste any more thread than the bare minimum! Honestly, you think you’ve done extremely well for an amateur, especially well in the old man’s case because one of his ankles was horribly beet-red, swollen, and lumpy to begin with, but after stabbing it once or twice and squeezing out the juice, whatever it was went down severely, which is good, because that looked painful as shit. He should really be visiting a professional hospital to get that looked at, but you can’t do anything else to help and it isn’t your problem, so you don’t worry about it.

When that’s done and they’re all taken care of, you stack the bodies on-top of one another in the ditch across from where the normie’s car crashed and pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Before you begin to help the unfortunate, a thought occurs to you.

> Should you steal their wallets, their weapons, and the keys to the only slightly damaged ATV, or should you leave them as they were, because beating them so handily is an honorable punishment enough?

>>3304240
Once you’ve decided what to do with their things, you rush over to the normie and do your utmost to mend his wounds. Almost immediately, you realize the extent of the damage is quite unsettling, this normie is beyond even your hospitality. No, he requires the expertise of a master of medical ninjutsu, and there is no telling where the closest one is. You figure the best thing you can do is prepare him for a professional and so you do, popping dislocated shoulders you think back into place, splashing rubbing alcohol into severe cuts, stitching them close, then slapping makeshift bandages, and at several points, briefly meditating over his broken body and wishing you had a candle.

When you’re done he doesn’t look much better than when you began, but he does look a bit better, which means that the effort you made was worth it. Now that you’ve resolved the situation with the hillbillies, what do you intend to do with the normie? You can’t ethically just leave him here, and you’re at least 99% sure his car isn’t going anywhere without a spare tire. If you carry him, you’ll have to find a legitimate hospital but you’re lost in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains, which means, to adopt some of the hillfolk slang, if you want to find him some medical care, you’ll have to put in some elbow grease. Gah, being an honorable ninja warrior is more difficult than you thought.

Take the normie with you and begind running towards the railway, when we find it, we follow it towards the nearest city and leave him(stealthy) on the train station after making sure that he will be found in time, after that we try to find an attic like last time and plan on what we are going to do
>>
>>3304242
Just because one tire is flattened, doesn't mean the car doesn't function. We will completly destroy the tire and damage the wheel but we can still drive the car. I don't think the normie will mind it that much seeing that we did it to save his life.

Take the car and drive him hopefully to a populated town where we can dump him in a clinic or something.

Why do we need to get info from backwards hillbillies?
We could go to a small town, find a survival/hunting shop, buy books on surviving in the wild, hunting/foraging, field medicine, etc
Then go deep into the woods and power train for like 3 months till we get all of our base stats to 7 or something

I'm really tired for rolling to train for every day, we should have a bigger time skip to achieve the result we want, that way we won't be wasting (real life) time doing menial grinding

You aren’t going to learn how to track from a book. Bushcraft is something you learn by doing it, and being shown.

>I'm really tired for rolling to train for every day, we should have a bigger time skip to achieve the result we want, that way we won't be wasting (real life) time doing menial grinding
You can have a time-skip as soon as you've found somewhere stable and wish to do so, but going from obese blob to bargain bin Kingpin takes time.

>>3304315
>>3304320
I figure it's similar to [Firearms] skill, it's possible to reach a basic to proficient level on studying alone, but a tutor or field experience is necessary for genuine expertise. For bushcraft, this boils down to camping which is easy enough to accomplish.
>>
>>3304320
Paychopathic sadists who had just got shot at by some crazy guy who wandered onto their property demanding they let the dog murderer go unpunished. Remember that Derek fired first. The dog was murdered first. I’m not saying their response was proportional, but they wouldn’t have done anything if nobody decided to murder their puppy.
>>
>>3304321
Well, I thinking getting camping gear, stocking up on food, getting books would be a good solid start to get a stable place for training

After a while we could start hunting and scavenging to get more food (we can even hunt bears!)

Books are also great to improve our intelligence
Willpower will increase slowly all the time while we do our hermit self improvement program.
>>
>>3304332

Yes we should try to live a hermit so that we can focus on self-improvement.

The books that is good to have is book about survival and meditation.

Getting hunting gears like bows and tools for crafting.

We got a sleeping bag. Derek could build a survival shelter himself without resorting to spending money. Find a flat rock, sharpen, use as an axe. Chop handle. Hole in handle, rock in hole, like a Celtic axe. Doesn’t even need sinew or fiber to hold it in place. Then use that to chop some small trees, gather leaves, and build a small survival shelter.

Also I’m not sure Derek is smart enough to pull off a Primitve Technology style kind of shelter. Even the easy ones where he makes a waterproof hut in a single afternoon using leaves and tree bark and shit.

Meaningless statement. Yes, with how the votes and dice went this was the only possible result. If the votes or dice had gone differently something different would've happened.

Yes, unfortunate.

They were completely justified. The law and justice are not always on the same page. Stopping a dangerous, careless, entitled dog murderer from being able to do so again is a justified and heroic action. Justice and the legal system are often at odds. Which was cancelled out by their chasing of Derek. It’s not an emotional, or reactionary view. It’s a just and righteous thing to stop dog murderers from going around and killing people’s family members.
>>
>>3305416
Plus remember that Derek is a crazy vigilante weeb not constrained by the same societal morals everyone else is. You have to take that into context when voting.

Firstly, it would be manslaughter because he was being negligent. Secondly, manslaughter only applies to people.

Therefore he would be a dog killer not a dog murderer.

He didn't mean to kill the dog though. They were justified to punch him in the face(albeit VERY HARD) but there's a point where they should have stopped and they clearly passed it. He got his comuppance and more, to much to be justified.
