Your master, Vivi D'Roix, had just completed her fourth day at the academy, you introduced Mercedes to Vivi's friend group, and she has signed up to take both [Nobility Etiquette] & [Field Studies] as her extracurricular classes. During the time of where you master was picking classes, you ventured back into the garden to capture one of the Murtlaps so that Vivi may drive her knife into the ugly rodent for fun.

Using your [Enhanced Hearing](Basic) you found the professor for [Field Studies] and successfully avoided in having magical flames shoot from your ass, and taking a trip to the hospital wing of the academy. Due to your beginner's luck, the field studies professor handed you a thick book called [Fishing Holes] that he bought from a traveling merchant.

After leaving the professor you took some time to learn [Enhanced Hearing](Intermediate) and used it once more to eavesdrop on those who were not aware. Afterward, you visited the Occult Club to learn about the strange house but ended up joining them as a member, as they seemed to enjoy your presence, and perhaps even be called your own "friend group." While you were gone Vivi got into a social pickle, with Czesara, but you were able to guide her into apologizing to her servant instead, and treat it as a misunderstanding. You also learned that Rena is some type of information broker that got Vivi targetted in the first place.

You have chosen [Magical Studies] as one of your chosen classes. You've also picked a date to become Sally D'Roix for your mistress.

When you wake up for some reason your eyes are crying perhaps something to the event before you went to sleep. Today is your mistress’s 5th day at the academy and almost have completed her first week. She has done lots of growing so far during her stay here but, it’s your job to help guide her along the path of becoming the Royal Executioner.

Opening your wardrobe, you find the new clothing that the headmaster had gifted you from the night before and decide to surprise Vivi wearing the clothes instead of your normal servant outfit. It seems that the headmaster is familiar with what semi-professional might look like. You are now wearing a black blazer with gold trimming on the breast pocket it has the UA emblem sewn into. You are still wearing black slacks, but more comfortable black shoes. You look like a student attending the academy wearing your new clothes, and not a servant that attends a mistress. You move to the next room to see if your mistress has woken up.

“Vivi its time to wake up, the first day of extracurricular classes is today, as well as the meeting with the blacksmithing club,” you say.

“Five more minutes Saul,” Vivi says lazily opening her eyes looking at you.

Vivi's eyes open quickly at realizing your change in attire.

“Saul, your clothes are so pretty where did you get them?” Vivi asks.

“I forgot to tell you last night, that during my visit with the headmaster he gifted me some clothes for [Magical Studies] so that I appear more like a student rather than a servant,” you say.

“You do look more like a student Saul, but your still my servant,” Vivi says.

“Help me get dressed and let’s go see if Mercedes is awake.”

>[1/2]
>>
After helping Vivi get dressed the two of you step out into the hallway, Vivi seemed to have wanted to match your attire today by wearing a turquoise blazer with gold trimming, but with her house symbol sewn into the breast pocket. She is also wearing a black, turquoise plaid skirt and white shoes. The two of you soon reach Mercedes door and knock on it. There is no answer, she is probably already awake and eating.

The two of you walk into the dining hall and see that Charles, Caren, and Mercedes are already waiting for their food. The two of you start walking over to them until you hear your nicknamed called from across the room.

“Saul!” you hear a voice say.

Looking over you see the source of the voice is from none other than Prince Roland seating with the Occult club, perhaps beckoning you to sit with them for breakfast.

Shouldn't be too hard - last I checked Charles was Roland's friend, the Occult club as a whole was interested in Mercedes (they did try and fail numerous times to recruit her), magical Viscount mght be interested in Mercedes due to the rumors regarding her use of Keys and to sweeten the deal Saul can say that Mercedes was the one to see both him and Vivi appear out of thin air a few nights ago when they found the mysterious house.

Also Vivi will probably want to be introduced to the people Saul will be socialising in magical studies and Occult club at some point, best to get it out of the way early.

Imo conversations rarely involve so many people; they tend to break down to shifting groups of 2-4 people talking/listening. Each of those groups will typically have two people talking and the rest occasionally interjecting, if that.
Of course, all that is constantly shifting as the subjects change and people bounce between subjects and conversations they find interesting.
Just theory crafting here, but you could do "stages" where at each stage we choose which conversation/subjects to join in on, and from there what we want to contribute to or where to steer the conversation.

>Roland is Charles friend
It's from the very first thread, where Saul listened in on Roland and Herison's convo after capturing Sally.

>"Did you see Charles? I haven't met him today," inquired the smaller boy, perhaps the younger brother.
>"Yeah, I did. He seemed happy and healthy as always, more so than ever even."

Going from that they're comfortable enough to visit each other regularly. I'd also imagine they'd meet each other a lot outside of school as well, considering their fathers are the prime minster and the king, so its not out of the question that they're friends by this point.

>Attempt to get the two groups to sit together

"I'm going to see if the Occult Club will like to sit with your friends for breakfast today, they wanted to talk with Mercedes," you say.

"Ok," Vivi says.

You walk over Prince Roland and Hiren, Marcie doesn't seem to be present.

“I like your clothing Saul it suits you,” says Hiren.

"Hi Saul, would you like to sit with us," Roland asks.

"Actually my Mistress wanted to meet the two of you, over at her table," you say.

"Who is over at her table?" Hiren asks.

"The Prime Minister's son, a girl who is interested in alchemy, and the girl you tried to recruit on several attempts to join the occult club," you say.

"The commoner?!" Hiren says.

"Hiren, please don't call her that. We'll come by Saul," Roland says.

The three of you walk across the dining hall and start to approach Vivi's table.

"Where is Marcie," you ask.

"She doesn't like to eat in the dining hall, too much noise for her sensitive ears says that it's hard to listen to the people she want to listen to without trying to focus too hard, don't you also have sensitive ears, Saul?" Roland asks.

"That I do, I also try to focus on the conversations at hand, but if I don't words become muddled and it becomes too loud for me," you say.

>[1/2]
>>
The three of you walk up to Vivi’s table, Caren & Mercedes are discussing something about Alchemy while Vivi has Charles in her breasts, slowly stroking his hair, her nose is close to his hair. You clear your throat to get your mistress’s attention.

“Oh hey Saul, welcome back,” Vivi says.

“I brought two members of the occult club, they also wanted to speak with you regarding the strange house that we encountered the other day,” you say.

“Greetings, my name is Hiren Haurchefant I’m the viscount’s son also a second year here at Uramel Academy,” Hiren says stretching out his hand towards Vivi.

Vivi looks at you then back toward Hiren and slowly shakes his hand, Charles gets up from Vivi and shakes Hiren’s hand introducing himself as well. Mercedes and Caren look up from their conversation and notice the prince and the viscount, introducing themselves to Charles & Vivi.
“We meet again Hiren, have you’ve come to try to get me to join your club?” Mercedes asks.

“We just came as a request from our newest club member Solomon, Roland and I wanted to know more about the strange house that they encountered in the garden,” Hiren says.

“Saul, you joined the Occult club?” Mercedes asks.

You nod your head.

“Sweetie~ you look just like a student today Saul, what’s the occasion?” Mercedes asks.

“Due to special circumstances I’ll be attending [Magical Studies] today as a student,” you say.

“So you’re the surprise even student I was being told about this morning, you’ve saved me a lot of unnecessary work,” Mercedes says.

“It's nice to meet you, Prince Roland,” Caren says quickly interjecting into the conversation.

“Likewise.” He responds.

The waiter comes by with today’s breakfast in his hands and takes notice to the three additional guests that he will be serving today. Today for breakfast the dining hall is serving, Baked Egg Danish with Kimchi and Bacon. The dough is rich, chewy laminated dough puffs up in the oven to suspend kimchi, bacon, and baked eggs in the center of these savory breakfast pastries.

You take a seat next to your mistress, Roland sits next to Charles and they quickly begin to speak to each other about common noble sports, as if they know each other for a long time. Hiren starts to speak with Mercedes, Caren, and Vivi about her experience about the strange house.

>Ask Charles & Roland how they know each other

“How do the two of you know each other Roland?” you ask.

“When Charles’ father would come to visit for a period of time to speak with my father. We would throw the ol’ pigskin around, while they were busy talking with each other. My brother was less inclined to join us in most cases, he would rather spend his time in the study room and keep his nose in books,” Roland says.

“Actually on most occasions Roland, I would watch you run around the castle as I try to knock you over by throwing things at you because of my health,” Charles says.

“Actually, I remember we would wrestle in the mud, to see who was stronger,” Roland says.

“You mean when you would drag me into the dirt to attempt to get me dirty so that we can sneak into town and not look like nobility to buy bread from the local bakery?” Charles rebuttal.

“It was very good bread, if I may add,” Roland says.

The two of them start to speak back and forth about how they remember something from the past, while the other would say how it happened differently on what really happened. They seem to enjoy each other’s presence regardless of how one remembers the event of something else that took place. You eat your food while you listen to their amusing conversation, something that stood out during their talk was that Roland’s brother was never mentioned, nor any conversation about Roland’s & Charles father. Soon the warning bell for the students to go to academics rings, Roland and Charles stand up and start to walk together towards their class. Hiren walks up to you with Vivi.

“If you have time after your magical studies class come by the classroom, I’m sure Marcie would like to see you,” Hiren says.

“What will you be doing in the meantime, Saul?” Vivi asks.

>I have a book in my room I been meaning to read (Fishing Holes)

“I have a book in my room that I got from something, called “Fishing Holes” I been meaning to read it for some time now,” you say.

“I’ll see you at lunch today then Saul, I’m thinking of eating in my room,” Vivi says quickly before rushing to catch up with Caren and Mercedes.

Hiren walks away leisurely towards his respective academic classroom. You decide to stay true to your word and return back to your room to read the book “Fishing Holes” that you received from the doctor. When you arrive back at your room the book is still in the same spot of which you left it on, the windowsill to gather the morning sunlight. The girl who sings next door doesn’t seem to be present most likely also attending academics as well. On closer examination of the exterior of the book, it seems old and thick as leather holds the book together. The only noticeable feature is a small yellow cloth bookmark attached to the book for one to hold their place in between reading sessions. The front of the book simply says Fishing Holes nothing else.

Opening the book, you take care as not to accidentally cut yourself touching the edges of the book. (15) The first few pages are blank for readers to perhaps make notes about what they’ve read inside of the book itself. Skipping ahead there is a title page that says “Fishing Holes, The Types of Holes and Where You Can Find Them. Reading a few pages after the initial title page the book goes on to explain how there are different types of fishing holes in the world, in both land, sky, and sea. The book then goes on to speak about the different categories of fishing holes one may find on lands, such as fishing in a volcano, lake, pond, magic-induced water, and towns. Eventually, time passes by as you learn about the different types of fishing holes, while the 1/3 of the book that you’ve read is concluded with the sentence: (86)

“This is the end basic descriptions of holes found on land, maybe you will learn more from someone in the future”

> [1/3 of Fishing Holes Read]

The next page has the title “Fishing Holes Found In The Sky”, but the amount of information you read versus the current time strikes you as odd. You place the yellow bookmark onto where you last read. It is now 10 AM one hour before Vivi’s academic classes are finished. You consider your options of what you can do in the meantime or you can try to read part of the next chapter before its time for her to leave to lunch period.

Writing [i] Kinda [/i]
>>
>74

You decide to keep reading the next section of the book. Opening the book back up using the yellow bookmark you are back on the page titled “Fishing Holes Found In The Sky”. The chapter speaks about fishing on floating islands where there are fish in lakes and ponds floating above the ground.

“Saul!” you hear a voice say but it sounds distant.

Floating islands are only accessible during specific weather
condition and is accessible through airships that are only found in distant lands that you’ve never heard of.

“Saul!” you hear the voice once more, but don’t respond to it.

Most of this section sounds like something from a fairytale
book. Reading more into the chapter it speaks about how certain clouds can be categorized as a fishing hole depending on the weather, and the size of the cloud. This chapter seems to be shorter than the previous chapter due to already reaching the title page of the next chapter “Fishing Holes and The Sea”.

“Saaauuul!” you hear a voice say as the source rocks your body back and forth.

You place the yellow bookmark on the mark of the next chapter closing the book. Vivi is sitting with next to you on the shaking your body in an attempt to get your attention.

“Saul, stop ignoring me,” Vivi says.

“Shouldn’t you be in class Vivi?” you say.

“Class ended 30 minutes ago Saul, you weren’t outside when I class was over so I thought you might be sleeping in the room. I walk in and find you reading that dumb book. I thought you were ignoring me, so I thought I did something that got you mad, you were like in a trance. I started to shake you when you weren’t moving, I got scared Saul, are you ok?

>I'm fine, just reading a book on fishing holes and airships.

Seeing Vivi’s worried about you is unsettling, it’s best not to worry her about the strange occurrence with the book. You stretch your hand towards the top of her head and slowly start to pat the top of her head back and forth slowly. Her worried expression turns into one of pure relaxation…Seeing her happy face you decide to worry about the strange occurrence with the book for later.

“I’m fine, I was just reading a book of fishing holes and airships,” you say as keep patting her head.

“Saul, keep doing whatever you are doing it feels good,” Vivi says not paying attention to what you are saying.

You stop patting her head, it seems to put her in a similar state of trance that you were in earlier when reading a book, except she finds it soothing and relaxing, maybe a way to calm her down in the future?

“We only have 25 minutes for lunch Saul, if we hurry we can get Mercedes’s scraps,” Vivi says.

“We don’t have to eat her scraps, I keep spare snacks in the room when I'm in a hurry,” you say.

You move towards your wardrobe and pull out a drawer containing several bars of grain, with the logo “Vox Fields” written on it, You grab a couple and handsome to Vivi.

“Eat these, they are strawberry flavored, and they are also very good for a growing executioner like you,” you say.

Vivi takes the grain bar hesitantly and looks down at the brown shaped rectangle with red lumps indicating what is supposed to be “strawberry” flavored. She brings the bar close to her nose before taking a bite into it before smiling back at you.

“It doesn’t smell like strawberry, but it sure does taste like one!” Vivi says.

“I’m glad that you like it, I have a couple more if you want to keep them on hand,” you say.

“I only have one or two more days with this “future self-form” of mine Saul, should I ask Mercedes to help me re-ink it so it can last longer? I only had one bad experience with it, and Charles seems to absolutely adore me with them!” Vivi says.

My laptop is broken & the library is closed. Got kicked out of the last classroom by custodial staff. I'm in a different classroom now and fully focused on writing and getting updates out currently.

“Let the key wear off, and see how you feel about it after changing back,” you say.

“How do you think Charles will react to it? Did you know his hair smelled like oranges today?” Vivi says as she forms her hands to the size of an orange.

“I’m unsure how he will react to your change, but I think Charles will be sad about not being able to be smothered by your buxom anymore. He will still like you regardless I feel. I wasn’t aware that oranges had a smell, what else can you smell?” you ask.

“When I’m around food it smells better than it looks, but the murtlap you let me play with yesterday smelled like fish, but the blood spewing out of it, was almost intoxicating. Do you think I can track Charles where he goes?” Vivi asks.

“I don’t recommend tracking him, if he catches you he may take it the wrong way, you’re not the best when it comes to certain social situations,” you say.

Vivi comes closer to you and smells your shirt.

"You don't smell like anything Saul..." Vivi says.

"Well, that's because I us-" you are cut short.

“We’re going to be late for class Saul. We might not be able to see each other until I finish field studies, but I also have the first blacksmithing club meeting after it. Maybe after the nobility etiquette, you can see me for a few minutes, before I go to field studies. If not definitely dinner with Mercedes,” Vivi says.

“I’ll see what I can do,” you say.

“Let’s go, Saul!” Vivi beckons to you as she opens to the door.

You look over to the book that put you in a mindless trance earlier, do you want to take it to class with you in a bag?

>Don’t Take Fishing Holes with you

The strange occurrence that you had earlier left you bewildered, and you decide to leave Fishing Holes on your bed. Maybe after class, you will try to finish the book. For now, you should focus on getting to class on time and not being late to the first day. Leaving with Vivi you make your way down the hallways, and split with her as she walks into the class with a sign hanging on the door stating “Nobility Etiquette”.

“See you later Saul,” Vivi says waving goodbye.

“Don’t fall asleep in class,” you respond back.

Walking with the mass of students rushing to their classes you notice Czesara, turn and walk into a room. “Magical Studies,” the sign says on the door she also seems to be taking the class.

First impressions are everything in both schools, nobility, and social status. Currently, your appearance is that of a normal student attending the academy, how do you enter the room to Magical Studies.

>Walk in like a normal person

You decide to walk into the classroom like a normal person, sneaking in or trying to draw attention to yourself may make you seem like a “weirdo”. Walking into magical studies, you are greeted with a large scale auditorium size classroom. The desks are made out of reddish-brown maple wood, there are two seats at every table. Students seem to be taking a seat wherever they please as they file and chatter into the classroom.

“Saul!” you hear a voice shout from across the classroom.

It’s Prince Roland, he is sitting on the other side of the classroom sitting along with Hiren and Marcie who is currently covering her ears. You walk over to them.

Roland is wearing a red shirt that says “Prince #2” along with khaki colored slacks. Hiren is wearing black polo & black pants. Marcie is wearing a black dress with white frills at the bottom along with a Faux black flower in her hair.

You take a seat next to Prince Roland before it’s taken by a random individual.

“Hello Saul I didn’t know you were a student as well,” Roland says.

“I’m not, but due to special circumstances I was allowed to take part in this course as a student,” you say.

“I like your outfit Saul, black and gold look great on you,” Marcie says.

Looking over at Hiren, he seems to be staring at the class as they fill into the classroom. His face is that of both confusion and analyzation.

“Something is wrong,” Hiren says flatly.

“What’s wrong?” Roland asks.

“This class is much too large for there are second years like Marcie and me who have taken this class before, but there also several first years mixed in the class as well. I suspect due to the recent funding from the king they plan to drastically change the curriculum and how the class works,” Hiren says.

“As smart as ever,” Marcie says slowly clapping at Hiren’s judgment over the situation.

>[1/2]
>>
A woman with short blond hair, wearing a tight purple shirt and black leggings walks into the center of the classroom. Her red high heels make a large clattering sound as she walks. Mercedes is also following closely behind her as well, she is also wearing clothing that gives off a professional vibe. Several of the students cease to talk as they notice that the first day of Magical Studies is about to begin.

“Good Afternoon Class, My name is Gwandala Alabaster. You will address me Mrs. Alabaster or Professor, failure to do so will result in detention,” Mrs. Alabaster says.

“Sure thing Gwandala,” says a student from the back row with green hair that is shaped upwards.

“Detention after class!” Mrs. Alabaster yells at the student who decided to make a joke of her first name.

The student chuckles, "Worth it."

“Some of you may be wondering why first years are mixed with second years, I’m here to answer that. Due to recent funds from the king, we will be changing the curriculum,” Mrs. Alabaster says.

Roland looks over to Hiren and repeatedly pats his shoulder surprised as to his correct deduction over the situation that he was analyzing from earlier. Mercedes begins to speak.

“I will be the Teacher Assistant for this semester, you may call me Mercedes. With the mix of second years and first years in this large classroom, we will be instituting a buddy system for who will be your partner for the rest of the semester. You will be working together on assignments, and homework that will be handed out. I recommend getting to know your partner,” Mercedes says.

Roland looks over to you.

“Guess we are partners, huh, Saul?” Roland says.

“It seems we are,” you respond back to the cheerful prince.

“You will have an assigned partner, you won’t get to choose your partner,” Mrs. Alabaster says quickly quieting everyone in the room who already “picked” their partner.

Mercedes moves behind the Professor's desk and pulls out a large box with a hand size hole.

“You will form a line and pick a number from this box, depending on the number picked, will be your partner for the remaining of your time in this classroom,” Mercedes says.

When your section of the classroom is called up, you make your way down towards the front of the classroom and join the line of students picking out papers from the box. Mercedes acknowledges your presence with a slight nod, you do the same. When it is your turn you reach into the box and pull out a small empty sheet of paper, there is nothing on it. After going back to your original seats Mrs. Alabaster begins to speak up.

“Now that you all have a sheet of paper, I would like the class to raise it up above their heads, the name of your assigned partner or buddy for your duration during this class will appear,” Mrs. Alabaster says.

You raise the small sheet above your head. The paper glows blue and starts to etch the name of your partner in cursive.

[blue] Marcie Alabaster [/blue]

You look down at the table next to you, Marcie is staring at you before a slowly smiling and tilting her head to the side.

“I’m glad I'm with someone I know, let’s work hard together Saul,” Vivi says.

“Of course,” you respond back.

Hiren crushes and balls up his paper in his hand before getting up from the table without a word. He disappears into the crowd of students calling out for whoever they received as a partner.

“Who is Douglas Cunning,” you hear Roland say next to you.

“Dat be me, Prince,” the delinquent from who received detention from earlier says as he walks up towards you.

“Move over, kid I have to speak to Princy here,” Douglas says.

“You don’t have to call him Princy, he has a name,” Marcie speaks up.

“I’m sure he does pipsqueak,” Douglas barks back.

Marcie turns away from his remark about her height, moving her hand to her cheek and begins to look out the window.

Looking closer at Douglas, he is wearing spiked combat boots, a redshirt that exposes his shoulders. His green hair goes down the middle of his head curving at the end of his forehead.

“I’ll be alright Marcie, he can’t be that bad I just have to get to know him,” Roland says.

You get up from your chair and allow the Roland to speak with his new partner. You take a seat next to Marcie. Soon the students find their partners as they sit and quiet down. Peering over to your right side you notice Hiren with his arms crossed staring at the ceiling. The person next to him is Czesara who is also looking the other way.

“I’m sure you are all happy with your partner/buddy. I’ll give the class time to ask things about each other before we give an introduction on what you will be learning,” Mercedes says.

“Is there anything you’d like to know about me, Saul? I already know a little bit about you?” Marcie asks.

“Are you alright after Douglas’s rude remark? You seem displeased,” you say.

“I’ll be alright Saul, I’m tougher than I look. I just don’t like people calling me names because of my height, and how I’m different than most others who attend the academy. Raras are very rare in this part of the world anyway.” Marcie responds sheepishly.

“Where are you from?” you ask.

“I come from a rich mercantile family, they sent me here to learn due to the academy’s prestigious standing. Not everyone who comes here is from nobility, but to enter they have to have money or take the rigorous entrance exam, and even if they pass the exam they would need a letter of recommendation or some form of value. My family handles lots of trading and transportation, I was sent here to learn about owning land and to learn how to treat those with noble standing with the same etiquette that someone would use for them. 'Trading techniques' as my father would call it. Wanting to know magic is a story for another time.

Mercedes is the only person of her social standing to have entered the academy, most likely through a recommendation and lots of hard work. No wonder Hiren is so interested in her,” Marcie says.

“After class what will you be doing? I don’t have another class after this, want to hang out somewhere?” Marcie asks.

>We can meet up, but Vivi wanted me to try to meet her before her next class. [15-minute break, between classes.]

“I was going to try to visit Vivi in between her classes, I told her I would try to speak with her for a few moments before she heads off to her next class, then her club meeting afterward. We can meet up somewhere after I do so if you’d like,” you say.

“While your meeting with her may only be for a few minutes, I think it’s nice that you try to take some time out of your schedule to see her,” Marcie says.

“While I am her servant, I’m also her friend,” you respond.

Marcie traces her finger on the table in circular motions, as she hums.

“Hmmm, let’s meet in the club room after. We can sit on the sofa and talk about class, Mrs. Alabaster is probably just going to speak about a basic overview of magic for the first years and then end class,” Marcie says.

Your conversation pauses for a few minutes, as the two of you wait for class to continue. In the meantime, you try to listen to conversations of the other individuals in the class.

* Why are you taking this class?
Because magic sounds cool, it will make my life easy*

* So I told the guy that Blue Moon Inn, was a shady place because of the guy in the corner *

*So your horns, are they sharp?
Would you like to find out?*

* You should so like join the knitting club, we have this totally awesome project we are working on! *

* I have a baby panther I’m keeping as a pet after class I’ll show it to you after class if you’d like?
You know I’m part a cat beastskin, right? *

* I was walking the hallways really late at night and I thought I saw a ghost! *

>[1/3]
>>
Mrs. Alabaster begins to clap, her hands getting the class’s attention drawing them away from their conversations.

“Ok class. You will have more time to know your partner later. Today with the time that we have left I’m going to give an overview of the class and what we will be studying. Firstly welcome to [Magical Studies] I’m sure you are all excited to learn about magic. Due to the school receiving more money from the King we will be adding more to the curriculum such as the study magical creatures, herbology, alchemy, and the history of magic. While there are other classes that focus on one subject, we expanded our curriculum to offer a more broad understanding. In the future, there may be a co-class assignment where two classes will mix together, for a particular assignment.

To some, what I’m about to say is a review from their previous year to others this will open up new doors. Everyone is born with the ability to do magic, while some are more attuned to a specific element making it easier for them to use, all types can be learned through practice and hard work,” Mrs. Alabastar says.

There are some groans and complaints in the classroom due to both the words ‘practice/hard work’.

“There are six basic elements that make up this world,
Fire
Water
Air
Earth
Light
Dark

You will learn how to pull magical energy from the forces around you, but also within yourself. Most spells require you to do a chant to use it, but with continued use and practice eventually, you can skip over the chant and cast the spell with merely a thought. Some spells require more concentration than others. Depending on where you are and what’s happening the spell may be stronger, for example, if you are in the ocean and try to raise rocks from the ground, the spell may fail, but if you try to cast a spell that makes the water shoot upwards, more may come than you may have intended. While casting magic may seem fun it will also quickly tire your body, please be careful when practicing, I don’t want to see any of my students in the hospital wing.

>[2/3]
>>
**Time 3:30 **

Lastly, there is another special type of magic that doesn’t fall under any of the categories, but we won’t be covering that today. For now, the class is dismissed,” Mrs. Alabaster says.

There is a quick shuffle of sheets, as students begin to make their way out of their classroom, Douglas waves goodbye to Roland before walking away, his shoulder bumps into Hiren who was walking his way back towards you he didn’t seem to be bothered by Douglas. Hiren’s has a frown on his face as he reaches the group.

“I have to go to field studies now, I want to try to get there early,” says Roland.

“I’ll go with you my second class is on the way there anyway, what will you two be doing in the meantime,” asks Hiren.

“Saul and I are going to talk about the class in the clubroom,” Marcie says.

“After class, we’ll meet you two there,” says Hiren.

“What seems to be bothering you Hiren, you seemed really upset over the partner choices,” you ask.

Hiren sighs and stares at the ceiling for a few seconds then begins to speak.

“I would have been fine for any other partner if it wasn’t Czesara. Our families have an interesting relationship, and I would see her often when I was younger. She is…troublesome,” Hiren says trying not to make eye contact.

“I don’t want to be late Hiren, let’s go,” Roland says.

Roland tugs Hiren’s arm as he finishes his sentence, and begins to drag him away.

“I’ll see you soon Saul,” Marcie says as she walks out of the classroom.

You look over behind you and see that Mercedes is speaking to Mrs. Alabaster. You walk outside of the classroom and walk quickly towards [Nobility Etiquette]’s classroom, hoping that you can catch her in time, before she decides to leave and go to field studies.

Reaching her classroom you see Vivi leaning on the wall, looking around for your presence.

“I’m here,” you say.

“Saul, thank goodness you are here. I thought you forgot about our meeting,” Vivi says.

“I wouldn’t forget something you would tell me to do, how was your first day,” you ask.

“Class went fine, nothing of importance happened. We introduced ourselves in front of the class said our likes/dislikes, and I think I did quite well in not saying anything that others would think was weird or strange,” Vivi says. (98)

“That’s very good, first impressions are everything, especially in a class about Nobility Etiquette,” you say.

“There was this one girl in the class who came across as strange, her accent was really weird, she kept saying things like “Nice tae mak yer acquaintance a'” and “Lets git alang”, and best of all Saul she had two big horns coming out of the side of her head, I wonder what they feel like to cut through!” Vivi says.

You reach your hand up to Vivi’s head and begin to pet her praising her for her good first day in class. Vivi calms down and becomes very relaxed when you start to rub her head.

[b] [Ding Dong] [Ding Dong] [/b]

You stop petting her when you hear the warning bell for her next class.

“You should be getting to class now, I don’t want you to be late,” you say.

“I’ll see you later then Saul, thanks for that relaxing thing that you do,” Vivi says.

“I’ll walk with you to your class,” you say.

“Really Saul! That’s so sweet of you,” Vivi says.

The two of you start to walk side by side down the hallway, Vivi is swinging her arms back and forth she seems to be in a good mood.

“Hey Vivi, promise me you won’t really cut, stab, lunge, or slash any of your classmates or staff based on how they look, I know that they might look like a fresh new canvas to paint your mark into, but doing so will bring major trouble for you and your family,” you say.

“Saaaul, please don’t lecture me I won’t do anything of the sort even though that girl and her horns look really cute! Do you think she shaves the sides to get them that smooth?” Vivi asks.

“I’ve never seen the girl so I wouldn’t know, but please don’t think of doing anything of the sort. If you get in trouble that means I’ll get in even more trouble. I’ll probably be branded a slave again, and that means no more headpats,” you say.

“No more headpats!” Vivi says.

“No more headpats,” you respond.

“By the way, where are we going Saul?” Vivi asks

“I was following you…,” you respond back.

“I’m going to be late Saul!” Vivi says.

“Roland was taking field studies as well, he left class quickly to get there early maybe…you can track his scent I was near him recently,” you say.

“Really? Well, why didn’t you just say so Saul?” Vivi says.

Vivi stops swinging your blazer back & forth and hugs you tightly pressing her face against your chest.

“I smell cologne and roses,” Vivi says before letting go of you.

You fix your clothing getting them back into the way that they were before Vivi suddenly embraced you, you look around for anyone that may have seen you two, and hear footsteps shuffling down the hallway when you turn your head. “Let’s follow the smell of cologne, it’s probably Roland,” you say.

Vivi bends her body slightly forwards, and points in a direction. You start to follow her as she sniffs the air trying to follow the smell of cologne that was wafting off your body. Soon you find yourself at the dining hall. There are some students here to seem to be relaxing from classes.

“Why are we at the dining hall,” you ask.

“Well…I was following that cologne scent, that you were telling me, but then I smelled something really good and got distracted. I must still be sort of hungry since all I ate were those bars that you gave me before class,” Vivi says.

You sigh pinching your nose.

“Maybe it’s better if we just ask someone, in here if they know where the classroom is. You are already late enough as is,” you say.

There are several groups of students in the dining hall as well as several servants. There is a group of students sitting at a table playing cards, one of them has a green Mohawk. At another table there are some older students, talking about something and drinking wine.

>Ask a servant

“I’ll go ask a servant, while I’m gone look for something quick to eat,” you say.

You move away from Vivi and make your way towards the kitchen area of the dining hall, but before entering inside you are stopped at the door by a large man with a grey beard, wearing a butler suit.

“Young Master you are not allowed in this area, if there is something you wish to fetch from the kitchen, please tell one of the staff walking about the area and allow them to know,” he says before walking back inside of the kitchen.

Currently, you look like a student, and seem to be unable to reach areas that servants like yourself would normally be able to access, but as your appearance currently as a student may allow you to gain information that might be withheld from a servant. You decide to ask one of the servants walking around the dining hall.

“Excuse me, sir,” you say to make sure to be polite with one of the roaming staff.

“Yes, young master?” the servant says.

“Would you happen to know where the field studies classroom is? You see I’m very late for class and I can’t seem to locate the room,” you say.

“Ah…It’s that time of the year, isn’t it? There is no room for field studies, the classes take place in the garden outside. The class is called field studies after all. Will that be all?” the servant asks.

Looking behind you, you see Vivi eyeing everyone’s food while inhaling deeply, she seems to be hungrier than you had thought.

“Can you prepare me two lamb sandwiches?” you ask.

“As you wish,” the servant says as he leaves to the kitchen.

>[1/3]
>>
You walk up to Vivi and drag her away from staring daggers into someone’s food.

“I found out where field studies are being held,” you say.

“Really where Saul?” Vivi asks

“The garden, apparently field studies is literally meant in the field,” you say.

“Let’s go now, Saul!” Vivi says already wanting to run out of the door.

“Wait a moment, I requested a servant to bring us sandwiches so that you won’t get hungry while I’m not around,” you say.

The two of you wait around for a few minutes until a servant appears with two lamb sandwiches, “Please enjoy young master & mistress,” the servant says as he hands the food to the two of you and walks away.

“Master…Solomon,” Vivi says saying the words slowly grinning.

It’s because they don’t recognize me as a servant, pointing out your clothing once more to Vivi.

“At least we match Saul,” Vivi says.

“Let’s just get you to class, I’m also late enough for another appointment,” you say as you roll your eyes and begin walking towards the direction of the garden.

Reaching the garden you see a small group of students standing by Dr. Fredrick. His ears move upwards as he notices your approach.

“That makes student #16 to arrive at field studies, you are 40 minutes late in tracking down and locating the classroom. You’re not in trouble for coming late. As for finding the class and arriving before class ends was the assignment for the first day,” Dr. Fredrick says.

“This…was an assignment,” you say slowly.

From behind you, a hand pats your shoulder.

“It’s alright Saul, being late on your first day isn’t too bad,” you hear Roland’s voice say from behind you.

Turning around you greet the elder prince.

“Hello, Roland. How soon did you make it here,” you ask?

“I was the first one here even before the Doctor made it himself, he says he’s looking forward to working with me in the future.” Roland says happily. (99)

“By the way, weren’t you going to talk with Marcie after class? What are you doing here?” Roland asks.

“I was going to walk Vivi to class then we got lost and had to ask for directions”, you say leaving out the part of trying to use Vivi’s better sense of smell to track him down and stopping for lamb sandwiches.

“Hello, Roland nice to see you again,” Vivi says greeting him.

“I hope getting to class wasn’t too much of a hassle for the two of you, I’m sure next class will be much easier,” Roland says to Vivi.

“Maybe you should go to Marcie, she’s probably wondering where you are. Hiren tells me she doesn’t like it when people skip out on her,” Roland says.

>Go to the Occult club room

You decide its best that you go to the occult club room, you told Marcie that you were just going to see Vivi in between the break. Obviously, it's taking your talk with Vivi took much longer than you had anticipated.

“I’ll go meet up with her now, I don’t want to skip out on her,” you say.
Before you leave you to make sure to tell Dr. Fredrick that the book that you he gave you is very interesting making sure to put emphasis on the end of your sentence. He looks at you like a weirdo unsure of what you are speaking of.

You make your way back inside the academy and into the winding hallways before reaching the occult clubroom door. Turning the doorknob, you are greeted once more with the club room, but there are several papers lying about the floor and desk. Marcie is on the couch reading a book, titled “Rose by any other name”. She looks up from her book when you step into the room.

“So nice of you to join me, Saul, please don’t mind the mess I was carrying more than I could handle and fell over, Marcie says.

“Apologies for coming later than I had attended, after I spoke with Vivi in the hallway I decided to walk her to class to lecture her on something that she had told me. Soon after we got lost and she was late for class and had to ask for directions,” you say.

Marcie looks you over as you recount your tale or excuse for arriving late to see her and discuss things about the class. Marcie is holding her hands to her mouth, before bursting into laughter as you finish speaking.

“Dr. Fredick’s first assignment is a joke among the students here, many of the first years become lost after being unable to find his class. The rule is to keep it hush-hush,” Marcie says as she brings a finger to her mouth gesturing to be quiet in a joking manner.

“It’s ok Saul, no worries I was just reading one of the many books that I keep around the club room. Help me clean up the papers lying around and we can begin to discuss over any questions you had during class,” Marcie says.

You help pick up the various documents that are lying on the floor and help her carry them into a large stack setting them on the table. Many of the documents you don’t seem to understand and probably relate to her own classes or duties as president of the club. After cleaning up the two of you are sitting across from each other on the long sofa.

“Is there anything you’d like to know Saul?” Marcie asks.

>Do you know what Mrs. Alabaster was going to speak about next before class ended, the “special type” of magic?

>What were you reading?

“When I came in what were you reading? I think it was titled “Rose By Any Other Name”,” you ask.

Marcie looks to her book before covering it swiftly with a nearby throw pillow, turning back around to you her face is beet red.

“I…it’s nothing just a book for class, ask me something else,” Marcie says feeling flustered moving her hand in a waving motion wanting you to ask a different question.

“Alright then…Do you know what Mrs. Alabaster was going to speak about next before class ended, the “special type” of magic she mentioned?” you ask.

Marcie takes a breath deep breath recovering herself from your previous question, her normal coloring quickly returning to her face.

“The special type of magic is known as ‘Ancient Magic’, a type of magic that does not fall under the six types of elements of magic. People our age call it Element Less Magic, or Color Less Magic. I prefer Ancient Magic because it’s what I’m used to,” Marcie says.

“So this ancient magic, what exactly does it do?” you ask.

“It can do everything you can imagine, and everything you couldn’t. Imagine being able to store items that you want to store into an empty space, and being able to call upon those items at any time by merely dipping your hand into that space. Imagine being able to teleport to across the world and making it back in time for lunch. Imagine changing your very image to something else. That’s what ‘ancient magic’ is. Things you may have read out of a fairytale book or folklore, may not have been fake.” Marcie says as she tries to paint the large image of what ancient magic to you.

You think about your experiences so far in your life that could have been the act of what Marcie describes ancient magic. The branding process to become a slave, Mercedes magic, and maybe the book...

>[1/2]
>>
“How does one gains the ability to use ancient magic, does someone teach it to them?” you ask.

“Yes, and no…Ancient magic is normally found in tomes which are found in different places around the world normally protected by things likely to get you killed, the more dangerous the magic the stronger whatever is protecting the tome is. When the tome is unread it releases magic into the air making things such as monsters nearby stronger or mutated. Most are found within dungeons that just appear and close randomly in the world, I don’t know much about them. Others can be found in the marketplace in town, but you have to go through a long process to obtain one and they are very expensive.

When the tome is opened for the first time you have to be careful because the tome will try to draw your blood then it becomes blood bound to you, and others will be unable to read it. Some noble families carry these tomes and pass it off to their children when they grow older to learn the ancient magic. Some tomes require you to just simply open it to learn the ancient magic, while others require you to read it all before learning it, which then can be passed along to others to learn. If the book is blood bound to you, in some cases you might be able to teach the magic depending on what kind it is, but that's very rare and highly unlikely.

After reading the tome, or opening it you will automatically know how to use the magic it hides inside, you may even able to improve on how it works with enough practice." Marcie says as she finishes her explanation.

Marcie gets up and pours herself a glass of water to refresh her throat.

“I didn’t think saying that would take so long, Hiren and Roland should be arriving soon classes are nearly finished, “Marcie says as she finishes downing the last bit of water.

>Try to sneak a peek at her book. Could be an interesting read if you can find out the author.

“I been curious, your name is Marcie Alabaster correct?” you ask.

“That’s correct, Solomon….,” Marcie says slowly.

“Are you related to Mrs. Alabaster? You have the same family name,” you say.

Marcie looks at you squinting her eyes for a few moments before sighing.

“No, Saul. I’m not related to Mrs. Alabaster in any way, by coincidence we happen to have the same family name,” Marcie says.

“In the future would you consider your ‘family’ name to be D’Roix since you been serving the royal executioner’s daughter for a long period of time,” Marcie asks.

“It’s unlikely, there are other servants within the D’Roix household who have served them for far longer than I have. For me to truly have a ‘family’ name I would have to marry into someone who does,” you say.

Marcie takes a glance at her book under the pillow and then quickly turns her head back towards you.

“Would you like something to eat Saul? We have crackers and dip in the cabinet,” Marcie says quickly changing the subject.

“Yes please, I’m quite famished all I had to eat was a lamb sandwich,” you say.

Marcie moves towards the cabinet and begins to pull out various plates, as she does this your eyes glance toward the book hidden under the pillow. While Marcie is distracted with setting the table to share a snack you lift the pillow up to catch the name of the author of the book.

[blue] Helena Bellabona [/blue]

You make sure to leave a mental note of both the book and the author, perhaps you can find it in the library at a later time. Soon the table is prepared with crackers and dip. Marcie walks over to the sofa and grabs the book and places it on the chair.

>[1/2]
>>
“Come and sit Saul let’s see that appetite of yours,” Marcie says as she sits on the chair using the book as a boost to bring herself up. Marcie has served you a common northeastern dip with blue cheese bacon accompanied with saltine crackers.

As the two of you eat you ask Marcie a question.

“Do you know anyone with ancient magic?” you ask

“I only know a few people that do such as Hiren, but he would be much more comfortable if you speak to him about it rather than hearing it from me. I also know that Roland and his brother have a form of ancient magic, but as of right now I currently don’t know what it is,” Marcie says.

The door swings open with a loud bang and yell.

“We are here!” Roland screams into the Occult Club room.

Both you and Marcie cover your ears to stop the loud ringing from them. Hiren comes up from behind and hits Roland in the back of his head.

“What have we told you about making large noises in the room or near Marcie,” Hiren says scolding Roland.

>5 minute time skip.

>Time: 4:35

The four of you are now situated at the table residing in the middle of the room. The ringing in your ear has stopped. Roland is speaking about his boring first day in field studies.

“So the doc just had us standing around with nothing to do. We were forced to wait there until everybody arrived. I chatted with Vivi while we waited and gave her some pointers on nobility etiquette. After class was over I went to where [Digging Holes] was taking place to meet up with Hiren,” Roland says.

“I wasn’t aware you knew how to act like a noble. Your recent actions say otherwise,” Hiren says.

“I lived in the palace and was trained by several servants who were experts on the subject. Let’s not speak about that though. While Hiren and I were walking we saw that Charles fellow you introduced us to. He was sprinting down the hallway. We stopped him and asked where he was running off to and get this? He said he couldn’t find the class for field studies (69). Of course, we told him where it was and soon after he kept on sprinting towards the garden, he looked like he was going to faint and fall over (6). His servant was following him and she seemed really angry,” Roland says.

“That’s a shame. Charles was telling me about how excited he was about taking the course,” you say.

“Well anyways, I feel that we should try to teach you two the first lesson that Mrs. Alabaster will most likely teach next class. I believe it’s a light based spell.” Hiren says.

“Or we could go take a walk into town and buy supplies for the club such as food, and other things for future projects,” says Marcie.

Apologies for this update taking much longer. I was fixing several grammar mistakes. Trying to improve my writing. After votes, I'm going to make a new thread and linking it to this thread. Then archiving.

Thank you for playing with me anons. I hope the new schedule will allow anons to come in and vote on what they want to happen next. Since there won't be random updates throughout the day. As well as a new thread may allow more people to jump into the quest. I want to go far with the quest.
